- 0:18And it is not any off Friday, it is Boxing Day, it is the day
- 0:22after Christmas. How you feeling?
- 0:24Oh, I feel great. Probably I've eaten just a
- 0:27little bit too much delicious food.
- 0:29That is, that's kind of the the modus operandi effect first
- 0:33Christmas celebrations, right? Pretty much, I think salad
- 0:37today. Let's do it.
- 0:38Salad and cricket, what a wonderful combination.
- 0:41Well, those those two things seldom go together, but they
- 0:43will today. And the other thing we're going
- 0:45to celebrate today, well, add to the mix today is.
- 0:48Reuben's birthday. Oh wow, Proverbs.
- 0:53He actually didn't. Think I was happy birthday
- 0:55Reuben. But yes, it is about proverbs.
- 0:57But if you ask a mum, of course you're going.
- 0:59Straight to. Your children's birthday, Yes,
- 1:02it is Reuben's birthday, but it is also our day of Proverbs.
- 1:05And we continue for this week and next week in chapter 19 of
- 1:10the Proverbs before we keep on moving on to chapter 20.
- 1:13But let us read these parcels of wisdom.
- 1:17That I can do with. Sounds great, yeah.
- 1:20You less so much, but definitely I.
- 1:22I need the wisdom too. Alright, let us read together
- 1:26Proverbs 1919 to 24. Hot tempered people must pay the
- 1:42penalty. If you rescue them once, you
- 1:45will have to do it again. Get all the advice and
- 1:50instruction you can so you'll be wise the rest of your life.
- 1:56You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail.
- 2:02Loyalty makes a person attractive.
- 2:04It is better to be poor than dishonest.
- 2:10Fear of the Lord leads to life, bringing security and protection
- 2:15from harm. Lazy people take food in their
- 2:19hand but don't even lift it to their mouth.
- 2:25And again. Hot tempered people must pay the
- 2:28penalty. If you rescue them once, you
- 2:32will have to do it again. Get all the advice and
- 2:37instruction you can so you will be wise the rest of your life.
- 2:43You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail.
- 2:50Loyalty makes a person attractive.
- 2:53It is better to be poor than dishonest.
- 2:58Fear of the Lord leads to life, bringing security and protection
- 3:02from harm. Lazy people take food in their
- 3:08hand but don't even lift it to their mouth.
- 3:22Wow, so many amazing things today.
- 3:25Oh just reading that fear of the Lord leads to life.
- 3:29I was like, oh, write that on my heart please.
- 3:33Yeah, it's beautiful. And I love, I love.
- 3:35Obviously this is a book of wisdom.
- 3:37And so there's a real preference toward wisdom.
- 3:39But I love the way it talks about get all the advice and
- 3:42instruction that you can and like, you save it up.
- 3:45And that is something that that you never lose.
- 3:48And then what do you do with that wisdom?
- 3:50Like the human way is to use wisdom to make good decisions
- 3:53and lead well and, you know, be productive.
- 3:55Whereas here it talks about wisdom is then used to just
- 4:00submit to God's purpose and God's will that will ultimately
- 4:04prevail. Amazing.
- 4:08Very different way of being right.
- 4:10Sure is. Ah Lord, thank you for showing
- 4:14us a different way, a way that leads to life.
- 4:19Help us to fear You and as we fear you and place you at the
- 4:24apex of priority in our life, that your wisdom would come and
- 4:30that wisdom would not lead us to be self sufficient, but it would
- 4:34lead us to submit ourselves before you.
- 4:36Because that is what true wisdom is.
- 4:39It's knowing you and knowing our place in your glorious Kingdom.
- 4:45So we just submit ourselves afresh to you and your ways and
- 4:50your wisdom and your life. And we pray all of these things
- 4:55in your name, Jesus, Amen.
