- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages. I know what you've been waiting for.
- 0:04You've waited all week long for multiple days off and it is happening.
- 0:08That's right, an actual finals game in Madison Square Garden and everything is going off without
- 0:15a hitch, completely. Welcome, it's Monday. Yes, we are drinking. Welcome to The Regulars, I'm Cody
- 0:22Duncan. I'm Tanya Rae Fox, cheers. We even have the game on right now. We're tracking it while
- 0:30these games keep happening during our goddamn podcast. Pretty empty arena, I've noticed right
- 0:34now. Yeah, it seems like it's taking a while to get everybody in there. I don't know why that
- 0:37could be. Why could that possibly be happening? I don't know. I think it's just because the city
- 0:41of New York City is so abuzz right now. They're really fired up. They're abuzz. They're abuzz
- 0:46and fired up about something, Cody, and we're going to get into it, obviously. By the way,
- 0:52this might be the day you yell at me. Oh, I am. You're going to be so angry about certain things
- 0:56that I'm not as angry about, I think are borderline comical because this is the reality
- 1:02we're currently living in. Yeah, I'm in no mood. And you are not having it, so this is going to be
- 1:06the day where you hit me. Yeah, I mean, listen, domestic violence doesn't count if the person
- 1:12hitting you is smaller. Everybody knows that. Yeah, well, I'm about to get my ass kicked by
- 1:16this woman for the next couple hours because, what can I say? Headline number one, Tanya.
- 1:24I mean, NBA Finals game three is about to happen. And that's all. And that's it. No,
- 1:30so here's the thing. Here's what we should be talking about, Cody. What we should be talking
- 1:34about is that New York has become the third team in Finals history to win the first two games away
- 1:39from home. Amazing. The first two teams that did this were both defending champions, the 1993
- 1:44Chicago Bulls, who won their two first games in Phoenix, and the 1995 Houston Rockets, who won
- 1:52in Orlando, both of whom went on to win those Finals. Okay, now the Knicks have won 13 consecutive
- 1:59playoff games, which is the second longest streak in NBA postseason history behind the Spurs. They've
- 2:05won eight road playoff games, tying the NBA record for the largest road winning streak in a single
- 2:10postseason. Very cool. Set by the Lakers in 2001, okay? Let's go. Now, we should be really breaking
- 2:16down basketball today, and we could. There's so much to break down, you know? We could. The ending
- 2:19of that game, the incredible comeback, the fact that I had a tweet ready to go, and this is true,
- 2:24a tweet ready to go fired up for if the Spurs won because boy, oh boy, the Knicks fans that were tap
- 2:30dancing on the Spurs grave in the third quarter was quite entertaining. Yeah, well, we finally
- 2:35got a Spurs comeback. And then the Spurs showed up in action, but then, of course, I didn't fire
- 2:39it off because, you know, waiting for it. You mustn't. There's a part of my brain. That's
- 2:42where we move to. No, no, I'm sitting there going like, well, I do, because there was a part of me
- 2:46thought, you know, I still think the Knicks might still get this even as they took the lead.
- 2:50And, of course, the Spurs youth kind of came and bit them on the ass at the end. But hey, listen,
- 2:55let's see if they make the adjustment tonight. There is so much to break down. There is Wemby's
- 3:00first half where he only had seven points, and then the second half where he gets 22 points.
- 3:05Final play was not the play. Final play just wasn't it. I thought they, and D. Fish actually
- 3:10was telling me all this. He thought they should have attacked the rim far more than that play,
- 3:14no question about it. But listen, it was an amazing game, and I don't even have a dog in
- 3:18the race yet. I had sat there with heart palpitations. This is a series that's 0-2
- 3:23right now, right? It doesn't feel like 0-2. No, it's been exceptional games. They've been
- 3:27close. They've been competitive. They've been fun to watch. But it's great, and I like every,
- 3:30and here's the other thing. This is a really rare thing. I really, really, really like
- 3:34everyone on the court on both teams. Like, this is a very, very rare thing. Now, I make fun of
- 3:39Knicks fans. Yeah, they ruin fucking everything, and they're ruining this too, but I can't stress
- 3:46enough. You're blaming Knicks fans for what's happening tonight? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 3:48Today, I feel for Knicks fans. Enjoy this show. I feel bad for some of you guys tonight. I feel
- 3:54like maybe this is the one thing that's not their fault. This one's not on you. We should probably
- 4:01actually just talk about it, because I know you have your take. I have mine. I don't really have
- 4:05a take. Well, you do. Your take is actually a fucking take compared to mine. Okay. So,
- 4:10don't undersell it. The shit you're about to fucking say is way more interesting.
- 4:15We've seen, so Donald Trump has decided that he needs to be at Madison Square Garden for game
- 4:22three of the NBA Finals. I would like to make it quite clear to people, if they don't already know
- 4:26this, there's never been a sitting president to go to an NBA Finals game. I want to make that
- 4:30abundantly clear, and make sure you specify that. There's never been a sitting president.
- 4:34I did just- I know. I know. No, I'm reiterating it for you to help as an echo to your point.
- 4:41I wasn't mansplaining your point. In fact, I was echoing your woman-splaining.
- 4:46Thus, everyone is properly woman and man-splained going forward.
- 4:51Do you need they-splain it for anybody, or you think they've already-
- 4:54And they. Catch it, everybody.
- 4:56So, sitting presidents don't go because of this. This is the reason sitting presidents don't go
- 5:03to fucking NBA Finals games.
- 5:05Yeah, that's the problem.
- 5:06There's that. There's also the case that this president, and I'll go ahead and say it,
- 5:10imminently- How am I going to say this without getting flagged? I don't think- He's not popular.
- 5:18He is not- How about this? Based on polling numbers, he is arguably the least popular
- 5:23president in the history of- Well, since polling became a thing.
- 5:28Right. So, that's good.
- 5:29I would imagine that part of the extra security is that they're not positive a lot of people
- 5:33want him there or on this plan of existence. Well, it's funny you say that. Well, here's
- 5:38the thing. This is what I want to specify. I think you should also explain exactly what
- 5:42the extra security measures are because that's the thing about this that is amazing. It's the
- 5:47security measures that I find so funny. Okay. So, there's a full-on bag. You can't bring bags in.
- 5:55No bags at all. Not even clear bags. No bags whatsoever. Strict no bag policy.
- 6:00There is a security wall around the perimeter of the arena. Multiple photos and videos. If you've
- 6:06seen it, if you've been on the internet at all, you've seen just how insane it's been. The lines
- 6:10getting in. Media has been being screened so intensely that they've been waiting in hours
- 6:16to get in. For the first time really ever, Knicks media members who are credentialed typically for
- 6:22pregame locker room were not able to access the players ahead of game three. Which I believe they
- 6:28have already come out and said, this has never happened before. Never happened. This is
- 6:31unprecedented. Unprecedented. And in general, it's just been a nightmare for both media and
- 6:36players to even get into the building, let alone the fans. The fans, again, there's nowhere for
- 6:42them to put belongings. There's no lockers, anything like that. So, people are literally
- 6:45going in with like credit cards in their pocket type stuff and waiting hours and hours to do so.
- 6:50Um, the, and the increased police presence is insane. I, so for comparison, when I was in
- 6:56new Orleans for the, uh, for the super bowl, it was maybe, what was it? A month after that
- 7:04insanity during the college football playoff, when there was someone who drove down bourbon
- 7:10street and like killed people. Do you remember this? Yes. I very much remember this. Cause it
- 7:14was, it happened just a few weeks before we showed up for radio row. Right? Exactly. So
- 7:18you were there as a whole Memorial there. Okay. Oh, you were down in New Orleans as well at that
- 7:21time. Okay. So do you remember how crazy it was with the increased security at the time? Yes.
- 7:26There was a lot of cops around, not even just cops. There were, there was military, right?
- 7:30There was military presence. They had barricaded everything. And people who'd been to new Orleans
- 7:35for the super bowl before I had not told me it was like, it was totally insane. Right. But the,
- 7:40it was very orderly. It was very like chill. If anything, honestly, I've never seen so many
- 7:46uniformed people with that many guns where I did not feel unsafe. Like they were fine. They,
- 7:51they were generally quite friendly and quite like, we understand the situation here. We're here for
- 7:55increased. They were handling any sort of unhoused people and things like that. Like really well.
- 8:00You're not seeing that from the NYPD right now. They've already shown like just how chaotic and
- 8:05disorganized it is. So this De'Aaron Fox has already said that they had to face insane screening going
- 8:10in. He said, it makes it an inconvenient for everybody else. And they have canceled the street
- 8:16watch party. The, the one that thousands of people, that's actually the funniest thing about
- 8:20this entire thing. So the watch party is not happening for the first time in 27 years, the,
- 8:26the NBA finals have come to Madison square garden for the first time in 27 years, these goddamn fans
- 8:30have been waiting for this for an entire lifetime for a lot of these people. And they, they aren't,
- 8:36if you don't have a ticket, you're not able to watch near the garden. You're not able to be a
- 8:39part of a celebration if they win all that. Yes. All for this deeply unpopular president who his
- 8:45entire city hates him to sit there and be booed. Now I'm of the opinion that Donald Trump think
- 8:53knows he's getting booed. I don't, or at the very least he knows nothing at all. I don't think he's
- 8:58going thinking he's going to be cheered. I, if he's alive and like conscious, which I'm not always
- 9:03sure he is. I don't think, I think more than anything, he just sees this as an opportunity
- 9:08to grab the spotlight. He doesn't actually care about being cheered or booed. Um, I would like
- 9:14to hear where you're at with this because your, your current take is, uh, something I think that
- 9:21needs to be corrected, but I'm gonna let you go first. I think this is hilarious. Okay. I think
- 9:24this is absolutely absurd. And I think this is entirely brought on by Jimmy Dolan. I think I
- 9:29won't disagree with that. That's the thing. That's why this is so funny to me. This is the most
- 9:34consequential game right now in Nick's history. And it's your first home game in an NBA finals
- 9:40game. And as you said, since 1999, and this is what you do. You, you turn Madison square garden
- 9:48into a borderline penitentiary. You make screenings as difficult and make it as difficult
- 9:53for your fans who are paying, by the way, the story yesterday was the amount of money that
- 9:58was being spent for these tickets. And then Trump of course goes on TV and says, well,
- 10:02they can go at home and have it watch it. Semi-free. What is semi-free? No fucking clue.
- 10:07Hilarious. This is such a comical mess of a clown show. And it's very clear to me that Jimmy Dolan
- 10:15truly hates his fans that he's doing this because you're canceling the watch party outside of the
- 10:22garden. Well, literally. And by the way, congratulations, the Mayor Mondani, you just
- 10:26handed him a, a pure victory because now he's hosting a completely free watch party right over
- 10:32there at Bryant park, which is not far at least from, so he's not going to the game. No, he's
- 10:36going to a watch party at Bryant park. So he, okay. He's so fucking cool. Cause he originally,
- 10:41he was going to the game. As far as I know, he's running a watch party at Bryant park. Now,
- 10:46maybe he's going to go to the game as well. I don't know, but either way, but I just saying,
- 10:50put them both on the screen and just hear how the differences in the car. It's going to be
- 10:54hilarious. I just think it's funny because now I don't think any sitting president should be at a
- 11:00game. If this is nuts, this is just so nice. And may I, may I just say sitting, you're saying
- 11:05sitting president president, if you're no longer the president, you can go anywhere you want.
- 11:09Uh, and I am saying sitting because yes, Obama went to the finals in 2019, because I know so
- 11:14many people are just going to be jumping and pulling themselves into pretzels saying, no,
- 11:17a president, when the president went, shut up, he wasn't a president anymore. It's 2019. Just
- 11:23learn that. And we could just move on a sitting president. Now that's a thing. Now like make it
- 11:27this way. Like, I don't like it when a sitting president flies into Los Angeles because Los
- 11:31Angeles becomes a absolute worse hellscape on the freeways that it already was. And that doesn't
- 11:36matter which president it's just as a fact, you're going into the middle of Manhattan during the NBA,
- 11:42goddamn finals game three, the most congested city on planet earth, where there are more
- 11:49Nick fans in that little spot than there ever have been. Like, this is so funny and such, just
- 11:56not having a semblance of the finger on the pulse by your owner of a team. It is,
- 12:02I think it's comical and it's why I am rooting for the stars. Yeah. Okay. It's just so dumb.
- 12:11It's so dumb. I mean, I don't think every player has to answer questions about it. I actually feel
- 12:16bad for every player post-game because no matter what, because here's the thing, if the Knicks lose,
- 12:21well, was the atmosphere changed because the president was there? Everything's going to be
- 12:25about the president. Both head coaches have already been asked about the president. To their credit,
- 12:29both basically gave the same answer. Oh, we're just really locked into game three. We're just
- 12:33really dodging the living fuck out of it. And I don't blame them. I feel bad for both of them.
- 12:38They shouldn't have to fucking deal with this right now. They have to coach game three of the
- 12:43fucking NBA finals, but that's not the story. Fucking hilarious. I'm going to be really clear.
- 12:49It's so dumb. I don't feel bad for the players or the coaches in the way that I'd feel bad for the
- 12:56feel bad for the fans. Um, and so the, the it's, you know, I've ceased feeling bad for, certainly
- 13:02I never felt bad for owners, but even, uh, coaches and players in the same way that I feel bad for
- 13:08fans. We talk a lot about what the billionaire class does to the fandom and the average person
- 13:13who roots for their team and is the reason that they're billionaires. I, you know, I don't care
- 13:19if they get asked questions about it. Do I think that that's like unfortunate? Sure. But like,
- 13:24they'll fucking handle it. If anything, you know what I would actually like to hear from some of
- 13:27you motherfuckers about how you feel about this president. It would actually be really,
- 13:31really refreshing. Now, do I necessarily want some of these black players have to put themselves on
- 13:35the line before the white players step up to do it? No, I do not. I would actually really love that.
- 13:39But at the end of the day, the fans are the ones who are getting fucked the most. And I'll say this,
- 13:47the majority of annoying, like, you know, the Knicks fans that I definitely love making fun of,
- 13:51but that being said, I don't want this to happen to them. And the majority of the, like, you know,
- 13:56internet fans, you and I both know this internet fans are different than like the real life fan
- 14:00experience. Oh, yeah. And the real life like cultural part of being a fan. I don't like
- 14:05internet Lakers fans. I like some of my but like in Los Angeles, if I'm in a community, if I'm in
- 14:10East Los Angeles, around a bunch of Lakers fans, that's fucking awesome. Right? Like, if I'm in if
- 14:17I'm in like South Central, and there's a bunch of Lakers fans, like that's awesome. Like when you're
- 14:20in the community with people. And so when I think about Knicks fans, and when I think about what
- 14:26this means, I think about the people who grew up watching with their grandma, their grandpa,
- 14:29I think about the kids who wore the jerseys when they were little kids. Honestly, like even the
- 14:34ones I argue with, like that guy that we were having our thread who was getting mad at me,
- 14:38because he was saying that they and you know, and New York City is the it's the Mecca. We know more
- 14:43ball, we produce more players. And then I, you know, hit him with the stats that you don't
- 14:46produce more players. This is what the actual numbers are. And then he got mad that I was
- 14:49citing facts and yada, yada, yada. But here's the thing. That guy is clearly a diehard Knicks fan,
- 14:56and loves this team, probably more than most of his family.
- 15:01I feel bad that he's that any of this is kind of interrupted, because he's waited his whole
- 15:05life to see this shit. Yeah, I more than anything, like there's a lot of fans who've never seen
- 15:10anything, anything great from their teams, and they wait there. And, and so but I mean,
- 15:15I want to say that this is this specifically about New York right now.
- 15:19That's it.
- 15:21Whatever we feel about Knicks fans or whatever else, at this point, New York City is has become
- 15:29especially in the mom Donnie era, the exact thing that we always say about New York City, the
- 15:34ultimate diverse diversity Mecca of the United States, right? Like this is a place where there
- 15:40is more diversity than any just about any city in the world. This is these are cultures that
- 15:45work side by side, whether like it's, you know, bogey bodegas on the street corner or up in the
- 15:50offices or whatever else, whether you're on Wall Street or in Harlem. And these this place represents
- 15:56exactly what we it's it's basically the lie, but the dream of America, right? Like, it's a great
- 16:02lie of America that ever that New York City is what the country is. Oh, yeah. But it's the dream
- 16:08that it exists. And in its current era, and in the mom Donnie era, and as a as a reflection of what
- 16:14is anti Trump, it is the perfect city to be central in this NBA finals right now that it is
- 16:21the perfect city to exist as a as a an antidote and a counterpoint to the white nationalist
- 16:29bullshit movement that we have been in this push into white nationalist fascism that we're
- 16:34constantly being subjected to. And so in that in that vein, yes, the reason that I actually do get
- 16:41a little more serious about what the fans are going through and what the city is going through
- 16:45in this moment is because I you and I've talked about this loving sports and knowing what it does
- 16:51for a community regardless of like the stupid. Oh, you have sports ball people. Actually, sports are
- 16:58to me something that bring us together far more often than they divide us like we joke and we
- 17:03think we yuck it up and we yell at each other on the internet. But like at the end of the day,
- 17:08so much community is built around this that like, I see this very specific moment as like such a
- 17:18fuck you to that like a fucked you to like some of the best of American values and some of the
- 17:22best of American culture and a fuck you to what we build within the community of like sports fans.
- 17:28And so I personally genuinely think that's why Trump is there. I think that I don't think he
- 17:37knows that's why he's there. But the people who are in charge of placing him in places and fucking
- 17:40planking him there so he can, you know, pretend like you know, sitting there saying this will
- 17:46troll them. Yes, this will troll them. And this will show them that this will show them to have
- 17:51a socialist mayor to have their bagels Jewish, their mayor Muslim, their Christians Dior,
- 17:57their Christian Dior, right? Like you saw that clip. Nixon for fucking sick. Sorry, that was
- 18:03pretty solid. It's not a good one. Still not convinced it's not AI. But like, regardless,
- 18:10if AI pulled that together, you know what props, I'll give it to you. But that's like,
- 18:15I just wanted it on record that like, I've been rooting for the Knicks for my own reasons.
- 18:19Just because it's just I do relate so much more to New York. I spent a lot of time in New York
- 18:24growing up and I feel like Boston and New York has a lot more in common than we like to admit.
- 18:28But the thing we don't have in common is that it like, Boston is still to this day, so segregated
- 18:36into its racial neighborhoods, its ethnic neighborhoods, New York and New York. I mean,
- 18:42New York does still have its neighborhoods, but there's the blending and the inter the
- 18:46interconnection. It's also how on top of it is it's like, yeah, it has its neighborhoods. Yeah,
- 18:50you have the you have the rich people in the Upper East Side. Yeah, guess what four blocks down is
- 18:54no longer the Upper East Side. And you know, like the Upper West Side, a lot of money. Guess
- 18:58what? That's three ways cutting. Exactly. No, you walk four streets over and I'm talking four short,
- 19:04short streets. You're in Hell's Kitchen. Like, it's just it's on top of each other. And there
- 19:08is a connective tissue in that city that really I don't think and this is where I loved in New
- 19:13York, man. I loved living in New York. There was that connective tissue. It's just it's so
- 19:17fascinating. You can get on a subway stop for three stops. And you feel like you're in a
- 19:22different fucking city. Yeah. And that is just what I loved about New York. It's honestly one
- 19:26of the most amazing things you can see. And you can feel it when you're there. I've lived in Boston.
- 19:30I've lived in Los Angeles is a different vibe in New York. And whether you can live there or not,
- 19:34it's a different thing. And so like to me, it's like, fuck Trump. Fuck James Dolan. Fuck these
- 19:40people who keep thinking that their billions and their relationships to to power and their
- 19:46proximity to it and they're like stomping on the little guy is somehow like ever. I like that's why
- 19:53I can't laugh at it because it's like it's so much bigger than just this. Like for me, rooting for the
- 19:58Knicks right now is like patriotic. Like that's genuinely how I fucking feel. Well, here's the
- 20:03thing. I'm laughing at it because I'm looking at this at a different perspective. I'm not looking
- 20:07at this. No, I know you're not laughing at Knicks fans. No, I'm not. I actually legitimately don't
- 20:11like that. They have to wait in line and do all this shit. I think that's fucking stupid. I think
- 20:16I feel like you're punishing your fans, Jim. Jimmy Dolan. That's what I feel like you're doing right
- 20:21now. Yeah. And that's just kind of ungodly baffling to me. And that's what I'm laughing at.
- 20:28Not that it's happening to the Knicks fans. It's that their owner is willingly doing it for no
- 20:32other reason other than, I guess, to own the libs. But here's the thing. Like,
- 20:38I'm taking this approach. I'm like, we'll see. Because I feel like there is going to be enough
- 20:43backlash to this that things swing in a different direction. And then I will laugh at that. And then
- 20:48there's going to be a swing from that backlash. And then I'm going to say, we'll see. It's that
- 20:51old thing about the Zen master. Just we'll see. And the answer is always, we'll see. Right now,
- 20:57I think this is funny because I think what's coming after this is going to be fucking funnier.
- 21:01Well, we know Mom Donnie is going to win the war, right? And I think that's going to be funny. No,
- 21:07and I agree with that. There will be when there is the humor and when the justice arrives,
- 21:12whenever that may be. And in whatever way it comes, I will savor it and I will enjoy it.
- 21:18But for now, I wanted to kind of explain, like, there's a lot of people up my ass about rooting
- 21:21for the Knicks. And by the way, so many people, and I will admit, a lot of people in sports,
- 21:25they're really mad about this. And I understand why you're mad. True, true. I lean very left.
- 21:32Oh, we're not even politically different. It's just, yeah, it's just my current mood.
- 21:36No, and I get it. And I'm not there because I do see this going comically funny.
- 21:43Well, I really hope that. I really do. So I'm looking forward to the clips later today
- 21:47because I'm going to laugh also because I got to laugh so I don't cry, but I'm going to laugh.
- 21:53Yeah. Yeah. So, okay. Well, we did okay. What happened? We're good.
- 21:58We're good. Listen, the only thing I didn't understand was people in the sports media just
- 22:02going apeshit. Like, okay, I agree, but this is happening. So one, we all just got to deal with
- 22:10it. And then I'm just waiting to see all the comical shit around. Well, and I hope if you're
- 22:13going to be really worked up about this as sports media, then what else do you have to say? What
- 22:18exactly is working you up? Tell us exactly why. Let's not beat around the fucking bush. I'm down
- 22:23for you to be worked up about it. But over here, I'm worked up about everything all the time. And
- 22:27I'm telling you why. So tell me exactly what it is. Get on fucking television on your radio station
- 22:31or whatever else and say the fucking thing. By all means. I just explained why you're upset
- 22:36other than you hate him. Listen, that I get. Right. But outside of that, I'm just upset for
- 22:42Knicks fans that they're honestly having so much of this is so unaffordable and they're just having
- 22:47things that are affordable taken away from them. It's just so dumb. I don't get it. It's just,
- 22:53why would you do this? Before the show? Like both, both you and Annie were like,
- 22:57they shouldn't allow sitting presidents to add a game. And I'm like, yeah, they fucking don't.
- 23:01Like this is why, like, this is the first time it's happened. Cause normally even the worst
- 23:04presidents, even our war criminal presidents aren't wasting their fucking time ruining a
- 23:10whole NBA finals game. This is a side note. I heard this from somebody, I forgot who it was.
- 23:15An analyst of some kind. I don't think it was, he wasn't a sports analyst. He worked for the
- 23:18government. And he told me that there is a physical number of dollars and it's a dollar
- 23:23figure that people hit where their mind turns to mush after that. And that number, and he said was
- 23:28oddly $300 million. When a person travels past $300 million of wealth, they lose their, they
- 23:35lose all perspective. You know who I watched that happen to in real time? Who's that? Tom Brady.
- 23:39I watched it happen. I could absolutely see that. I watched, I watched him go from being like a
- 23:43regular person who was just very famous and like a little out of touch because he was famous to
- 23:46being like a cyborg and maybe like AI. I was like, I was like, what happened? Like, and I watched
- 23:53it happen like very quickly. So they said like, it's like, it somehow turns you into just that
- 23:58number means you no longer have to deal with reality. You have so much money that reality
- 24:02just is, doesn't exist. Nothing about your day-to-day life resembles like, like moving
- 24:07through the world in a normal way. Yeah. And I find that fascinating because there's a few
- 24:11athletes who have over $300 million. There's increasingly more every day. Yeah. But it's not
- 24:17it's a very short list, but it's, well, I mean, it's probably like, there's what, like maybe 15
- 24:21of them in the NBA or like all time that's made that much money. So yeah. All right. Well, we did
- 24:27it. We made it through that without any domestic violence on the show. Thank you for not hitting
- 24:31me. You got it. Because listen, I'm not, I'm not against what you're saying. I just, I'm not angry
- 24:35about it. Cause I think it'll be funny. Yeah. That's all. Well, this one, I know we agree on
- 24:41because there's almost, I don't know. I'm viewers can tell us if they disagree with us on this,
- 24:45I would be actually really intrigued to hear if anybody is on the side of the law here.
- 24:50This one, this one, I'm, I don't understand anyone who wouldn't be. Yeah. That's why I'm
- 24:55saying ahead of time viewers, if for whatever reason you don't agree with us, I'd love to hear
- 24:59by the way, check your pulses ahead of time. Cause you're about to hear something said out loud.
- 25:03Both Tanya and I are on the side of the NCAA. I know that is something we just, I just said out
- 25:10loud and I hope I never say it again. It's deeply uncomfortable, but it's a, this is a place I don't
- 25:14like and I'm going to live here for the time being. Yes. So, um, Brendan's Brendan Soresby
- 25:20is eligible to play in 2026 after he won an injunction against the NCAA. Now, in case you
- 25:25are not familiar with the situation, uh, a judge of the 99th district court of Lubbock County
- 25:32granted the Texas tech quarterback, a temporary injunction he was seeking in his legal battles
- 25:37against the NCAA, making him eligible to compete for the red Raiders in this upcoming college
- 25:42football season. Those Soresby came out with the win. He could see some more legal hurdles
- 25:47because according to Yahoo sports, the NCAA is planning on filing an appeal of the decision.
- 25:52Soresby had stepped away from the program in late April to enter a residential treatment
- 25:56program for his gambling addiction that dated back to his true freshman season in 2022.
- 26:01He completed that 35 day inpatient rehab program. And this was all in relation to the fact that
- 26:09he was, it was reported on April 27th, that he had placed thousands of online bets on a variety
- 26:15of sports by a gambling app, including ones involving Indiana games during his true freshman
- 26:20season as a Hoosier in 2022. It was later learned that he placed wagers on professional sports,
- 26:25such as MLB, UFC, tennis, blah, blah, blah. He's placed over $90,000 worth of bets over four years.
- 26:31And through accounts that were either registered under his name or the names of family members,
- 26:35the NCAA prohibits student athletes and athletics department staff members from
- 26:38betting on collegiate athletics and professional sports. And Oh, by the way, there's massive legal
- 26:44stuff here beyond NCAA stuff. He, there were illegal things happening here as well. Yes.
- 26:50This is not being received well by the college football brass. They are fucking pissed,
- 26:57including the NCAA. We've had some serious conversations about it, which is, uh, from the
- 27:03AD of Kansas state, there's a lot to be discussed. We aren't scheduled to play them this year,
- 27:08but it's something we've looked at from a college football perspective.
- 27:10This is greater than the big 12. Somebody at Georgia said the same thing, the AD at Georgia.
- 27:14Um, so they are starting to talk about not playing Texas tech. Like this is starting to become a
- 27:19thing where they're like, do we take these people off? Like this has to, this has to be a line.
- 27:26This is a line in every single other league in the country. You do not let people bet on sports
- 27:33or bet on anything. That's that's barred from the actual organization, or certainly at the very
- 27:39least, not their own team. This on top of it, I'm going to give you the final piece for you to react
- 27:45to the judge decided that they were going to institute their own suspension of Swordsby.
- 27:51So Swordsby is going to serve a two game suspension served by the judge. The NCAA is
- 27:58like, yeah, no, that's not how this fucking works. We decide the suspension. What are you talking
- 28:03about? I'd like to see that judges gambling. He's like, you know what? I think a two game suspension
- 28:07is good. It is the most, I will say of this insane story, the most insane part of it is that the
- 28:15judge decree it like for like a criminal case. What are you talking about? It was a fucking
- 28:24injunction. Like you can't just be like, oh, well, you know, just give him a two game suspension
- 28:28that served like you get to look at the schedule and be like, judges are affecting college athletic.
- 28:33Like it's just not a thing. Like it's nuts. It's like getting an injunction from a judge about the
- 28:39ending of Candyland. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. It's insane. So like even in the Tom Brady
- 28:45situation for, for like perspective, when Tom Brady, when he lost his appeal in court, right,
- 28:51he ended up actually getting to take it to court outside of arbitration. They found him to be
- 28:57responsible for what, uh, for, you know, not, uh, essentially not cooperating with the investigation.
- 29:03And then the NFL said, great, you're responsible for that. It's four games. The judge didn't give
- 29:07him a four game suspension. I got nothing. Listen, this isn't, I think it's funny that it's on a
- 29:13rundown. Uh, what are our takes? The kid needs to be suspended for life. Uh, I am all for second
- 29:18chances. His second chance that he's not going to prison. Yeah. The end. That's his second chance.
- 29:22His second chance is that he's not going to prison. He got his rehab. Great. That's your second
- 29:26get your life together. You are not playing college football. You're not playing professional
- 29:30football. That that's it. That has sailed away. You have fucked that up forever. You're going to
- 29:35have to live with that, but congratulations. You got a second chance. By the way, you are not behind
- 29:40bars. Go be a scout. Start on a low level scouts team. Learn how you can be in the world of your
- 29:45way back. Somehow you can be in the world of football. You can work your way in. Maybe you're
- 29:49a coach someday. Maybe you're a scout. Maybe you're, maybe you're a GM in the future, but you
- 29:52will not be playing college football or professional football. Like very much over. So I like, I, I,
- 29:59I, it takes so much. It takes an absolutely egregious decision for me to side with the NCAA
- 30:06on literally anything. We made that very clear. I don't, I can't remember the last time I was like,
- 30:10well, the NCAA has a point. I truly can't believe this. I think this is the first time I've ever
- 30:14actually agreed with the NCAA. I agree. This is, and by the way, the NCAA is fucking around with a
- 30:20bunch of other shit right now in the college football world in general that is pissing me
- 30:23off that you, that I've actually, I've laid off. Like we haven't talked about it cause it's so
- 30:27complicated, but this is pretty cut and dry. Like this is a guy who was illegally betting against
- 30:33every single rule that is in place in college sports and got caught. And like the, this is very
- 30:39much, it's very much giving, I'll give the young, the young white guy, you know what I mean?
- 30:46Let's not ruin his life. That's where that's yeah. I agree with you. I, it gives a lot of that.
- 30:52Listen, I don't know what to say other than it's over. No, one's letting you back in.
- 30:57You're not in prison. Be happy. Yeah. I like, I imagine getting yourself, by the way, just like,
- 31:03just think about this, right? You were a college athlete. So like you are only on a roster
- 31:10because you filed an injunction. So what happens now, Cody, does he have to start?
- 31:15Like what, how far does he take that? I don't know. What did the judge say? Right. Like,
- 31:20is there a ruling? Did the judge set up the lineup? Is he, is he picking the starting,
- 31:25starting roster? That's what I'm saying is like, how far does this go? If they keep him on the
- 31:29roster, but he's the fourth string quarterback. Is that enough? Do you know what I'm saying? Like,
- 31:33it's just, you filed the thing that he can be reinstated. So I guess he can keep his scholarship
- 31:38or something, but like, you're not playing football. You, are you fucking crazy? You're
- 31:41out of your mind. You're not playing football. These people are not. So then he goes back to
- 31:45the judge. He says, they're not letting me start. They're not letting me start the game.
- 31:49I saw my suspension. Like you said, I'm not playing football.
- 31:54Like, come on. It's just, we know you're not playing football, but it really is fucking
- 31:58wild. It's really like they went to the more lenient parent and the other one's like, bro,
- 32:03no, we told him no. It's so baffling. I can't believe it's real. What's our next headline.
- 32:10Next headline. This is for you specifically. Mostly this is me being like, I actually want
- 32:14to ask Cody about this. That's really what this is. So the Detroit Tigers, one of the
- 32:18American leagues, worst teams, rough, rough year, the, the word on the street, the thought
- 32:24of behind some of the baseball writers is that they will have no choice, but to trade
- 32:29Tarek scuba. They have a choice, but they should absolutely trade Tarek scuba. So I wanted to,
- 32:34so like, this is kind of one of those things where it's like, we've talked a lot about how
- 32:40teams build their rosters, how they use their money, how they bring up their prospects and
- 32:45why it can be very frustrating that people are so critical of the Dodgers being so good at,
- 32:51at, you know, they spend all this money, they get all these stars, but how are they able to do that?
- 32:55And you've talked a lot about the fact that like, this is not actually a system that is exclusive
- 32:59to the Dodgers because of money. There's a lot of other things at play. Well, for instance,
- 33:02so for, for instance, if the, for like right out the gate, if the Dodgers were to right now
- 33:07acquire Tarek scuba, it is not because the Dodgers have more money than anybody playing.
- 33:12No, it's because they have prospects. It's because they have prospects of which
- 33:15other teams have always had prospects, but the Dodgers seemingly always have incredible
- 33:19process. It's sort of a fuck them prospect situations. Like the fuck them pick situation.
- 33:22A little bit. Yeah. And by the way, those prospects, if they don't trade them to go
- 33:26into the big leagues and they have like, I don't know, like an eight win record,
- 33:30like Robleski has right now, who was not supposed to start on this team this year,
- 33:33but is because they currently have glass now on the IL Snell on the IL.
- 33:38So you have two open roster spots where Blesky's in there with like a two ERA.
- 33:43So like my whole thing, when I saw this was, and clearly you don't agree. And I want to know why
- 33:49if you're the tigers, it's pretty clear that if you like, they've had some moments that they
- 33:57should have broken through and that they should have like, kind of like made what they're doing
- 34:02work. Right. So are you saying it's like too late to go out and spend the money that they
- 34:07need to spend in 2027 to build a roster around scuba? Well, they'd have to sign back scuba first.
- 34:13Right. So why not? I guess my question for you, and I'm in good faith. I genuinely don't like
- 34:21if you're, if your whole thing is, Hey, as an, or as a fucking, as a league, we can't just keep
- 34:28trading our best players to the Dodgers or the Yankees. Why not spend the, like the tigers have
- 34:34decent ownership. Do they not? Um, they don't have a massive history of signing guys and spending
- 34:40a lot of money, but they've increased their payroll over the last couple of years. Um,
- 34:46get some dudes around him rather than trade them for, for prospects. Yet again, how many times do
- 34:51you go through this cycle? I guess this particular one, um, I feel like no matter what you need to
- 34:56train, no matter what, even if you intend to sign them back, think of, uh, think of,
- 35:01he's not coming back. If he's gone. No, no. Here's the thing that there is precedent of this. Uh,
- 35:04I'm going to use our oldest Chapman as an example. The Yankees traded her oldest Chapman to the
- 35:08car. That's not a great example though. I, well, it is in the fact that they trade it not because
- 35:12he's a good guy. No, they, they, they, but they did trade him to the Cubs where he won a world
- 35:16series with the Cubs. And then they immediately re-signed him in that next off season. But what
- 35:20I'm saying is they traded to the Cubs and then he went back to the New York Yankees.
- 35:26People don't just go back to the, to the, to the, uh, money is nice. And if you pay
- 35:31the guy, maybe, but here's the thing. Are you going to out stand the giant?
- 35:34You don't do that. You keep him here. You get a better deal. If you, if you sign him and you
- 35:38don't let him go, I think that's a possibility. If Tarek scuba tells you that, but I don't think
- 35:44Tarek scuba is telling anybody that never tells anybody that Tarek scuba wants to be in Detroit
- 35:50anymore. Well, nor would I, if I was in this situation, that's my point is like right now,
- 35:56that's the, so this is the thing that I hate about, about these, especially this happens in
- 36:00baseball a lot. Well, he doesn't want to be here and he's going to ask for it. You're still going
- 36:04to get a better offer him the fucking money. You got to offer the money. Right. So even,
- 36:12even knowing that, right? Like this happened with the Mookie bets thing too, where it's like, well,
- 36:15all of a sudden the price is going up. It's going up, bro. You should have fucking signed
- 36:18him already. And now, okay, now you're going to, you have to trade him. There was no way to get
- 36:24the value for Mookie bets. There was no way to, you can't trade someone of that caliber and get,
- 36:31it will never happen. There are certain players, and I'm not saying scuba is this, but like there
- 36:37are certain, if you're going to trade an MVP in his physical prime, nothing you get back will be
- 36:44worth it. Nothing you will get back would, will be what you could have had by just having fucking
- 36:50Mookie bets. You say that, but then the angels turned down quite a trade from the Tampa Bay
- 36:56Rays to get offload Shohei Otani to them. And they didn't take it. That entire, every piece
- 37:02of that trade is currently in the big leagues right now with the Rays and they are in first
- 37:05place in the East. Okay. And one of them is Caminero. But what you're talking about is again,
- 37:09you're making my point. That's a very poorly run organization. That's gotten really lucky with two
- 37:14superstars. We wouldn't have talked about the angels in a long fucking time. If it weren't
- 37:17for Mike Trout and Shohei, they would be useless to us. So I'm not talking like that's that to me,
- 37:23what you're saying is like, this is what they could have done was build a team around Shohei.
- 37:28It's what they should have done. Shohei was happy to stay in Anaheim by the way.
- 37:32So I think there, I I'm actually having trouble understanding your point. Cause hear me out on
- 37:36this. I think them not trading Shohei Otani was the single worst move in Anaheim history,
- 37:43Anaheim angel history. If not baseball, I think what you're confusing though, is you're confusing
- 37:48them not trading him because like they didn't trade him and then they let him go. That's what
- 37:52you're saying, right? Like they didn't let him go. They just didn't sign him back because they
- 37:56weren't going to let him go. They let him go to free agency and then he left. Yeah. And they got
- 38:00nothing out of it. Right. You got to, I don't want that to happen for the time. That was never going
- 38:04to happen with like, that's, that's not my point is they clearly had no interest in like in their
- 38:13minds at some point there. Well, they also, didn't they go undergo ownership changes in this? Who
- 38:16are you referring to the angels? No, no, that was all already. They haven't got undergone ownership
- 38:21change since then already. Moreno's owned this team since GM. They've had a few GMs, but already
- 38:26is the one that makes all the final decisions. He is the, one of the worst angels. You have to
- 38:30understand the angels are a very unique case because they actually have a very good GM and
- 38:34Perry Manassas. It doesn't matter. They don't have bad ownership. The ownership's terrible.
- 38:39So the entire organization is barren right now. What you're, what is that? What essentially you're
- 38:45saying is if, if the, like, what if, what if they hadn't traded Mookie bets and they got nothing for
- 38:50him and he just left, he didn't want to leave. He wanted, he wanted literally $20 million more than
- 38:56they were offering. That's a specific example where I agree with you. The Red Sox never should
- 39:00let Mookie bets out the door. They just didn't want to pay them. So they traded them and try
- 39:04to get prospects and guys back for it. And none of it worked. And so my original point stands,
- 39:08there are certain players you're not going to get the return back for. By the way, no one,
- 39:13nothing would have been worth Shohei Otani. Nothing. No package that they would have gotten
- 39:18would have been as good as having Shohei Otani. No package. No package. No, listen, hold on.
- 39:25No package would have been worth. Now, what you're saying is you're looking down the line after that,
- 39:28they let Shohei go anyway. That's not what I'm talking. I'm saying in that moment,
- 39:33nothing on your team is better than Shohei. Nothing. I agree. They let him go because
- 39:38that owner is out of his fucking mind. That's not the same thing as what I'm saying here.
- 39:43Like if I'm going to assume that the Detroit Tigers are in good faith running this organization,
- 39:49there's, you need to, you need to decide what, what Scoobles actually worth and whether or not
- 39:53you actually can get anything back for him. That's worth having him on your team. I think
- 39:57you're playing with serious fire because now you have to make the determination because it's clear
- 40:01he's going to hit free agency. And now it's going to be on his determination. What if I'm
- 40:05Terry Scooble, I'm not negotiating right now. It depends on where he's at with the organization,
- 40:10right? Like, is he, if, if he is like, I want to stay here, but I want this free agency,
- 40:15he'll probably get an offer from the Tigers. I'm assuming if he remains a Tiger this year,
- 40:19but this team is not going to be remaking a playoff run this season. It's not happening.
- 40:23Scooble is still last I checked. He has, he just made his a very nice rehab assignment. He's about
- 40:27to make his way back. It'll be a nice showcase. The Tigers flat out need to trade him need to,
- 40:34this is not a question of should need to trade them and get as much humanly possible. And if
- 40:40I'm the Tigers, I don't train for the very last moment until I milk everything out of everybody.
- 40:44What's the likelihood that that matters for the Tigers?
- 40:48Decently. Pretty good. When was the last time that you really should be able to get a winner
- 40:53Tigers last with the world series and let's see, they were there in oh five and again in 13. So
- 40:58yeah. So 12, no, no way. Yeah. I guess the giants Prince Fielder. Yeah. They lost against Johnson.
- 41:04So that would have been 2012. Yeah. 2012. Yeah. I think. Yes. But yes. Cause the next year was
- 41:09the Red Sox next year was the Red Sox. And then the giants were back again in 14 and they were
- 41:13back again in 16. And then in between that was the Royals. Look at me. I'm sorry. No,
- 41:22I think it was what? 10, 12 and 15, 14. It was a weird, like it was every other year.
- 41:26They won three of five. They didn't ever go back to back. No, they went three or five
- 41:30and they did a great job. No, but it's, they have to trade. Like there's just like,
- 41:35even if they wanted to make an offer to them free agency, they got a trend. They got to get some
- 41:40guys for this. And frankly, there are a couple of teams that have a very good track record
- 41:45to trading with. I just, at some point I just wonder like, it's like, what's the point of
- 41:51having fucking stars on your team if you can never keep them? I just, well, that's the thing.
- 41:55You can keep them, but are they going to make him a very substantial offer of 250 million plus?
- 42:00Why wouldn't you? Oh, no, I agree with that. Oh, I'm sorry. Is that the conversation you've
- 42:04been having? I have fucking agree with making him the offer of the highest bid. They're not
- 42:09fucking going to, it's not, it's not going to happen. That's, but that's to your point.
- 42:16That's the problem. That's why the Dodgers are the Dodgers and all these fucking teams are every
- 42:20other fucking team because they don't do shit like that. Pay the right dudes, get, bring up the
- 42:24right dudes. The Dodgers do the, here's the thing that people just won't fucking admit about the
- 42:30Dodgers. And this is what drives the Dodgers do fucking everything, right? The Dodgers aren't
- 42:35the best team because they spend money. They do in fact, but here's the thing that this season,
- 42:40right now, the Dodgers have $170 million on the injured list. They have two of their starters
- 42:47that are on the injured list right now, the guys that are carrying their team offensively,
- 42:52let's take Shohei out of it, obviously, because show he's doing, but if you really want to get
- 42:55into a show, he's only making $2 million this particular season. That being said, yeah,
- 42:59Shohei is obviously doing what Shohei does. And it's insane. But Andy Pahas is making major league
- 43:04minimum. He's leading the team in home runs and RBI is leading major league baseball and RBIs.
- 43:08Miguel Rojas has eight home runs. He's not making a huge ass contract. That's not a thing. Dalton
- 43:13rushing just got like called up this year and he's been killing it. He's got like nine home
- 43:17runs right now. Like it's the bargain bin players that are carrying the Dodgers to 42 wins, right?
- 43:23By the way happens in every league in every league, well-run teams end up high. It's always,
- 43:28it's never about how many stars you have. It it's it's I mean, yes, it's the stars,
- 43:33but it never matters that you have stars unless those guys who have been called up the young
- 43:38players, the journeymen, the bench players, the second string players.
- 43:43Let's go through. You ready to go through the list? Max Muncy's on the aisle. $10 million.
- 43:46You got Blake's now on the aisle. $30 million. You got, uh, you start to $36 million. You got
- 43:52Blake trying on the aisle. $12 million. You got, you got Tyler glass now on the aisle.
- 43:59Just the other day. Uh, who else? He couldn't, I couldn't have happened before pride night.
- 44:03And then when I was like, who else? It's just like the whole team's an injury ward right now.
- 44:09Mookie bets is not injured, but he's hitting one 50. Uh, first of all, never talk about Mookie's
- 44:14our, uh, batting average, unless it is over two 80. I love, I don't want to know what he's having
- 44:19a rough. He's having a rough season. We don't say that out loud. Tucker's making 60 million.
- 44:23He's in two 30. Like the dog, all the money for the Dodgers isn't doing shit. It's all,
- 44:29it's all the homegrown guys. And of course, and of course, just a guy named show. Hey,
- 44:36by the way, Roki Sasaki, he's like been lights out for his last four starts. He's making like
- 44:40$700,000 a year. Oh, but is he the one that they brought in on another huge contract? No, no. What
- 44:45they brought him in and they gave him like a $6.5 million signing bonus. Who's the other
- 44:49Japanese player? They have Yamamoto. Okay. And Yamamoto is 300 million. He's pitching his lights
- 44:53out as well, but like that's Yamamoto. So yeah, show him Yamamoto high price guys doing what they
- 44:58do. Right. Everyone else that's high price isn't really doing much. Listen, every single world
- 45:03series I've ever been invested in every single one, whether it was, I got really invested in the
- 45:07Kansas city rules. Uh, when I got really invested in obviously every single Red Sox one, there've
- 45:11been over the years, there's certain teams that I've really gotten invested in every single one.
- 45:15The MVP of that goddamn world series is some dude who's been playing for 12 years has played for
- 45:21seven teams, you know, some, or like some random motherfucker that like, it's very rarely the show.
- 45:26That's like, you know, it's actually always a guy who steps the fuck up that you didn't,
- 45:31the Red Sox don't have their first world series without Dave Roberts. Dave Roberts was not a
- 45:35superstar. Dave Roberts stole one bag, one bag. In fact, he was a starting center fielder. Got
- 45:40trade for the Dodgers. Yeah. Got traded to the Red Sox to not even have a starting job. They
- 45:46traded for a borderline all-star center fielder to not play him to only steal one base. And it's
- 45:54the most legendary base that's ever been stolen. And they were like, we know what we're doing. And
- 45:56so that's, I agree with that. And I'm glad that I talked to you about it because I do,
- 46:00I find that I find team management in baseball with no salary cap to be infuriating. Oh no,
- 46:05it's very, it's very frustrating because listen, we know what this has always, always been about
- 46:09period stop. It's what it's always been about. It's, and by the way, chances asking, is this
- 46:14about the CBA? Not exactly, but yeah, it is related. It's always about, we're talking about,
- 46:21we're talking about how the Tigers, everyone's saying the Tigers need to trade Scooble and
- 46:25Cody agrees. They, they need to, they have to. And my, my question just continues to be like,
- 46:30why don't these teams figure out a way to make him the highest? I cannot watch another team's
- 46:35star player land on one of five teams yet again. Cause I can tell you which five teams
- 46:40Scooble will go to. There's five teams, five. Honestly, by the way, if I'm the dog, if I'm,
- 46:46you know, there is a team that I think should be throwing every prospect they have at the Tigers.
- 46:50And it's not the Dodgers. I don't think the Dodgers should be going after Tarik
- 46:54but they might need to, you know why? Cause the Padres are going to go after them
- 46:58and the Dodgers can't have that because Tarik Scooble for on the Padres in October,
- 47:02if the Padres get their shit together, they look like shit right now.
- 47:05They're just signing dudes for defense. They're just like, just keeping them off of other teams.
- 47:09I hate to be that. I hate to tell you this, but that is honestly what A.J. Preller has been doing
- 47:12for like 10 years. He has been making signs and trades just to keep the Dodgers from getting them.
- 47:19You should worry about the, about the Arizona Diamondbacks because they're
- 47:23very scrappy, but here, like I wrote this tweet just about a week and a half ago because there's
- 47:27a someone named Barbara Quaid, who I don't know, but she wrote out a tweet that I really bothered
- 47:31me and irked me and irked a lot of people because it on the surface, this is what you obviously,
- 47:35what the, you know, what a lot of fans are yelling, but this is not accurate. This is why
- 47:39baseball needs a salary cap. It's going to stink when the Tigers trade Scooble to the Yankees or
- 47:43Dodgers because they can't afford to keep them. Well, that makes no sense because trading them
- 47:47to the Dodgers or the Yankees has nothing to do with finances whatsoever. Nothing, literally zero.
- 47:52Also, I wrote this, the Detroit Tigers ownership owns the Detroit Tigers, Motor City Casino Hotel,
- 47:58two major entertainment venues, significant real estate in downtown Detroit, the Detroit Red Wings
- 48:03and Little Caesar's Pizza, but Tarek Scooble, just, just too expensive. Yeah. Fuck off.
- 48:10Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, um, appreciate that. Glad I feel like I, I feel like I got my answer
- 48:15and it was a well-delivered. No, you're not wrong. Like, yeah, they could afford them. They're just
- 48:19not gonna, I just know what's about to happen. They're just never going to anything. By the way,
- 48:22San Antonio is up 11-5 to start so far. Yes. Uh, um, this by, by the third quarter, nothing's
- 48:29going to matter because the fourth quarter is all that matters in NBA. Um, media corner,
- 48:32we have a couple of quick hitters. These are, uh, one, one that's annoying me, one that made me laugh.
- 48:37Um, but we'll start out with this AJ Brown stuff for whatever reason, AJ Brown seems to be a magnet
- 48:43for media drama in a way that like, I'm like, yeah, I guess he's kind of dramatic, but like,
- 48:47not that much. I feel like we read more about AJ Brown and this is the Philly effect. Philly
- 48:50wine so fucking loudly and so hard that like you cannot avoid them. Right. So this is a,
- 48:57this was originally, uh, this is an awful announcing Mike Florio kind of thing, but
- 49:02AJ Brown becomes a victim of bad aggregation as outlets, uh, accused AJ Brown of leaking
- 49:08to the media. Now I've been seeing this and I, so I followed up on it. Um, so he was talking to
- 49:12Marie Taylor and she, she prompted him to talk about what he meant when he said he was a villain
- 49:20in the media. And he said, I wouldn't say a villain because some of the things that was,
- 49:24that were done, it was purposely to give us a push. So he was talking about talking to the
- 49:28Eagles media. He said, I know if I said something in the media, it's going to propel us to work on
- 49:33it because now everybody's talking about it, you know? So it's like, there are we going to fix it
- 49:38or not? We can't keep saying it's the standard. It's the standard. And we're not trying to truly
- 49:42get better. So essentially what he was saying was, I will say things to get my teammates to
- 49:48focus on the thing. I will say it to the media. That quote was taken out of context by many
- 49:52aggregators and outlets, including the NFL account Dove climbing, which I cannot believe still
- 49:57exists. The New York post Barstool sports and Trey Wingo. Many of the aforementioned outlets
- 50:03accused Brown of leaking stories about the Eagles to the media. But as Mike Florio fucking pointed
- 50:09out, which he's a hundred percent correct. What Brown did was much different. Brown did not leak
- 50:13anything to the media. He criticized his team on the record in front of reporters for everyone to
- 50:17hear his name was attached to these critiques. And this is, this is a me, you and I like a media,
- 50:23a store, a media story where we can talk about media literacy. Yeah. Pulling that thing. He said
- 50:29I would get on the podium with my face and my words and say on the record in front of cameras
- 50:34to reporters, these are things I think we need to work on as a team. I will say things to the media.
- 50:39So that my teammates hear it and they know now they feel how they have to be accountable to it.
- 50:43They say all kinds of headlines. I found them. AJ Brown admits to leaking things to the media
- 50:49about his Eagles teammates. I cannot handle this shit anymore. That's not a leak. A leak is an
- 50:57anonymously sourced on the low down. You don't know where it came from and it's not supposed to
- 51:02come from you to a reporter who then says, I gleaned this information from a random source
- 51:10or even more succinctly. Sometimes it'll just end up in a headline and you don't know where it came
- 51:16from. Those are leaks saying something fully on the record with your name and face to a fucking
- 51:21room full of reporters is not a leak. That's literally just you on the record. Oh my fucking
- 51:27God, Cody. Oh my God. I just, um, the amount of like, that's some shit, right? That's stupid,
- 51:38right? I just, I don't know what to say other than we are so fucking stupid. I just, but like,
- 51:55I feel bad for fans because like, at this point I see the stuff that goes out where it's like,
- 52:00he admits to leaking whatever. And if, if you're somebody who watched ESPN back in the day and you
- 52:04see Trey Wingo, say like AJ Brown admitted to leaking something, you're going to be prone to
- 52:09believe it. Yeah. But here's the thing. Like it's weird. So he would go to the podium, put his face
- 52:14and name on it and demand accountability, which is what we really always request people to do.
- 52:21That's such a good point. That's such a good point. And now it's getting shit for it. Leaking
- 52:26is just so fucking stupid. I just so stupid. So fucking stupid, Tanya. And so that's my human
- 52:36race doesn't deserve to make it. I think, I think the, our robot overlords deserve to take us over.
- 52:43And where the fuck is this is where, this is where I really hate local media. And I'm not
- 52:47blaming this just on Philly. A lot of local media is like this. Yeah. Where the fuck are you right
- 52:50now to say, listen guys, I say what you want to say about AJ Brown. There's some other stuff
- 52:55that's been, that's been actually actually leaked around AJ Brown recently that we cannot necessarily
- 53:02confirm nor deny. Where are you to say, Hey guys, there's enough misinformation going around.
- 53:10What we can't do is categorize people saying things on the record in front of cameras to
- 53:15reporters as a leak. It's just so fucking stupid. I'm so fucking tired of this. This is,
- 53:21this is the kind of stuff that gets people confused. And then down the line, I'm, I'm,
- 53:26this happens all the time, by the way. And I'll like, I'll be on my, in my Tik TOK comments.
- 53:28And they're like, this happened to me last night. They were like, I can't believe Jalen Brunson
- 53:31said that thing about Trump. And I was like, what did he say about Trump? Cause I knew I was like,
- 53:37he didn't say anything about Trump. That's fucking front page news. That's like ESPN headline,
- 53:41I'm a notification on my phone. Right. And then he comes back an hour later. He's like,
- 53:45uh, it was a false quote. So here's the thing. Remember, like I will always say finding,
- 53:50you know, actual information has always been relatively difficult, always relatively.
- 53:54Sure. Um, you have to put in work, but I can definitely tell you
- 53:59how much easier it was four years ago. It was easier a year ago. I remember very specifically.
- 54:08It was when I was working at Fox sports one halfway through that year. And that's when the
- 54:11sale of Twitter happened to Elon Musk. Oh, that was the moment everything that was the moment when
- 54:16information became impossible to attain and everything became an echo chamber cesspool.
- 54:23I actually could probably do a full like video rant. Maybe I'll do this on my newly,
- 54:28when I launched my sub stack about what taking a, what taking away the blue check Mark from
- 54:35reporters absolutely ruined everything. It was, it was really, really bad. Like I,
- 54:40and it sounds kind of like self-serving as somebody in the media, but like, when I tell you
- 54:46the way it changed immediately changed the landscape of new sharing and information and
- 54:52misinformation and disinformation, which are two different things.
- 54:56It was so swift that I, it took me like a few, it took me a few months up a media professional.
- 55:02The only thing I've ever done to, to start understanding how I could get information.
- 55:07Yeah. It was very difficult. It was exceedingly difficult. And that was the moment where really,
- 55:11everything really drastically changed for the worst. That's where somehow we became,
- 55:18honestly, as a species became frighteningly dumber almost overnight. It was almost like
- 55:23we became idiocracy like that. And it, and it's been truly, truly awful to watch and be a part of.
- 55:31Well, in that vein, our next media story is it's the results of AI Cody. I'm not going to bury the
- 55:39lead. This is AI shenanigans. Now I watch a lot of English football. So I am very up on who's on
- 55:46the English world cup team. Their names were put up on a giant screen before they're friendly with
- 55:52New Zealand, which took place in Tampa, of course, and some not so Eagle eyed fans, because it
- 56:00doesn't take a fucking genius to know this is wrong. Notice that 10 of the 11 names were
- 56:06completely switched around. Ah, first one, Jordan Pickford, that's their goaltender. That's a,
- 56:11that's a regular ass dude. I know Jordan Pickford. He plays for the team I root for.
- 56:15The next 10 names were a bunch of dudes whose first name and last name were a combination of
- 56:20two different players. Some of them only had one name. So currently playing on the, according to
- 56:28this graphic on the English national team is Harry. I love her. Just Harry. I love her. Now
- 56:35his last name is in there, but it's next to who is it? Ollie. Ollie has his last name now. Okay.
- 56:45There's just coffee, coffee, just coffee. And it, this is, there's a, there's a very famous player
- 56:57named Jude Bellingham. You ever heard of him? No, I did. I've not actually. So Jude Bellingham,
- 57:03but then there's Jed Spence, but we've got Jed Bellingham. So that was close, right? So we've
- 57:09got all these very, very famous, very, very fucking famous players. And one has to wonder,
- 57:13how does this happen? Well, it's quite obvious. Some lazy motherfucking intern at the stadium,
- 57:21put these names into a chat GPT template and said, make this into a graphic. And rather than act
- 57:29normal chat, GPT was like, you know what? Sometimes soccer names only have one name.
- 57:34This guy's just Harry and just switched all the fucking names around. We live in the stupidest
- 57:42timeline. I could make that graphic right now. On Canva within five minutes. There's four minutes
- 57:49on the clock in the game. Four minutes and 35 seconds. I could have it done by four minutes
- 57:53and 20. What the fuck are we doing? What the fuck are we doing, Cody? I mean, it was funny and I
- 57:58will call him Harry and only Harry for the rest of his life. His last name will never be uttered
- 58:03to me again. That's very, very fucking funny. Yes. It's like seal. It's just Harry. It's Madonna.
- 58:09It's seal. It's share. It's Harry. It's Prince. It's Prince. And it's also then Harry again.
- 58:16But like what, where I understand that there are some people who feel like chat GPT can help them
- 58:26write a cover letter or like whatever. And I under now granted, I don't need that. And I'm
- 58:32a professional writer. I'm very good at these things. I would prefer people hire me to do it
- 58:36because I can fucking do it for you in just about essentially the same amount of time.
- 58:41But whatever I can get why you would do it, but to write down names in a template.
- 58:48You see, the funny thing is, I think there is such great use for AI in these type of scenarios.
- 58:54For instance, there is a way to use AI to do this. No, no, hear me out. For somebody that
- 59:00doesn't know how to actually make that graphic, you can learn step-by-step on how to make the
- 59:06graphic doesn't know how to make the graphic. No, say, say you're somebody you say you're a
- 59:10dumb intern and you lied that no intern could not make that graphic. Anybody who is anybody
- 59:16who has been alive in the last 12 years can make that graphic. There are, I mean, there are actual
- 59:23Mocha. You can see, you can see the rundown, right? Tanya. I'm just saying one can make the
- 59:27graphic if they don't know how to, if they ask chat, DB, GPT, how to make the graphic.
- 59:32My boomer mother could figure it out. Mocha, how young do you think at this,
- 59:40like what's the age of the cutoff of kids who wouldn't know how to put
- 59:45names into a basic Canva template? I'd say probably like, I don't know, 16.
- 59:54Yeah, perfect. So if you have the court, the skills of a 16 year old,
- 1:00:01you can do it. I, I simply do. You're giving a lot of people credit.
- 1:00:09It's it's copy and paste. Yeah, it can be. No, it, no, what do you mean? Can be,
- 1:00:14what do you mean? Candy? Are you not? That's a TV graphic. You got to make it look at least
- 1:00:18somewhat graphic. It's a, it's a, it's a graphic in stadium on the big board.
- 1:00:23You can, you have to make it look professional. That person clearly didn't know how to do it.
- 1:00:26They should go. They should have gone and be like, how about this? Tell me how to make this
- 1:00:31and I will do it myself. I have a question. Yes. Did you make this graphic? I did not make this
- 1:00:37graphic. Are you getting a little bit sensitive? Are you, do you know how to use Canva? Yes. Okay.
- 1:00:42Are you sure? Are you sure I put together all our fucking graphics? Yeah. I'm starting to wonder.
- 1:00:49I am starting to wonder. But if I ever have a question about something that might make me
- 1:00:53something on Canva, sometimes I'll go like Gemini. I'm like, Hey, how do I actually make this? And
- 1:00:57it'll give me a step-by-step. Just ask me. I got you. Occasionally. Like when I need this,
- 1:01:01when I needed to like make a background a little more transparent, I wanted to pick certain things
- 1:01:05and other things. I learned how to do that by reading on Gemini and how to do it. And it gave
- 1:01:09me like a three-step thing that just simplified. Yeah. Couldn't you Google the same thing? Yeah.
- 1:01:12Yeah. So that's what I'm just doing. But that's, but that's literally what I use AI for.
- 1:01:16But AI is integrated into Google. It is now. It is. Right. That's what I'm saying. Yeah.
- 1:01:20So it's basically the same fucking thing. It's the same thing. Right. You're just like. I just
- 1:01:22use Gemini as my search engine. You're just learning the steps. Yes. I use, I use, I use
- 1:01:27chat. I use Gemini is what I use. But when I use it, I use it to learn things. And usually it's
- 1:01:32to learn a skill. Right. That's clearly not what happened here. No, I'm just saying this person
- 1:01:37could have used it to learn the skill. Instead they used it this way, like an idiot. Yeah.
- 1:01:42They could have used it or they could have just been alive in 2012. I just, I don't know. I'm
- 1:01:47trying to help the kid. You're sitting here shitting on this poor intern. I don't know who
- 1:01:51did it. I'm just assuming it was, I am too. And I'm trying to help this child. Okay. Well either
- 1:01:57way it's Harry forever. Um, all right, we're going to go, uh, to Hills we're dying on.
- 1:02:04We're going to be a little salty. I think, I think we're both a little salty today in terms of where
- 1:02:07we're at the Hills we're dying on. I guess we're going to find out. I'll go first. Yeah. Okay.
- 1:02:11Listen, I have an issue and I, and it goes in case you haven't known this. Uh, so I, I was a
- 1:02:15professional baseball player for 11 years and there's nothing. And this is, yeah, don't hear
- 1:02:20me out. This is what, this is where I completely sympathize with all you lady folk. Okay. Because
- 1:02:25nothing is more absurd than getting mansplained baseball to me. Usually by fucking guys whose
- 1:02:33fucking credentials include coaching their fucking eight-year-old. By the way, which is,
- 1:02:39that's a more credentialed person. That's one of the higher end people you could deal with.
- 1:02:43It's absolutely staggering, staggering, staggering. And you know what they really
- 1:02:47hate in that you do a good job of pointing this out to me. Cause I'm like, what is it? I just
- 1:02:51don't get what the fuck. Cause I take it with us. God, there's nothing that a sports fan hates more
- 1:02:56than someone who knows absolutely what they're talking about because that doesn't fit. Usually
- 1:03:02they're fucking weird vibe of some sort. And that makes no sense to me. You pointed out quite
- 1:03:06astutely. It's not that what they hate is they hate that, you know, more than them and that,
- 1:03:11you know, that, you know, more than them, which also is fucking insane. Like I just,
- 1:03:18why do you hate an expert in something? Being an expert in something and telling you and telling
- 1:03:23you because here's the thing when I'm telling you, I'm not doing that because I have a fucking ego
- 1:03:26about it. I can give a shit. I play professional baseball. Cool. It really isn't honestly that
- 1:03:31big of a deal. Cause I looked at it as a job and it was a nine to five for me. And honestly,
- 1:03:35it didn't pay me nearly enough money that I would have liked it to. And I have a lot of
- 1:03:39problems with my career. A lot of things I love, a lot of things I'm very happy and proud of,
- 1:03:43but a lot of things are like shit needs to be fixing that fucking God awful system. And that's
- 1:03:47why I'm so much on the player's side on all of these things. Cause the system is so fucking
- 1:03:51awful and tailored to destroy players. It's fucking insane. That being said, um, yeah,
- 1:03:59like it's so wild to me because when I'm trying to explain these things to fans and I'm trying to
- 1:04:05tell them that, and then I give them my credentials of what I am and what I've done and why it's so
- 1:04:11you could one letting you know that I have a perspective. You simply do not. And also
- 1:04:16motherfucker, like I'm trying to teach you. Like I'm trying to make you learn,
- 1:04:22make you a smarter and better fan if at all possible. And that's okay to learn shit from
- 1:04:28someone who fucking knows the answer. And it's baffling. And by the way, let's say the person
- 1:04:34remains disagreeing with you. They, they can just say, Hey, from like, I, I heard Tom Brady say
- 1:04:40something the other day that I, part of it was right. And part of it, I disagreed with, right?
- 1:04:43Like part of it, like his takeaway, his, the thing he took away from the objectively true fact he was
- 1:04:49stating was something I disagreed with. So I was typing that in and I was like, listen, he's Tom
- 1:04:53Brady. I'm just someone who's worked with a lot of NFL players. But I think, I think this is like
- 1:04:56maybe the part that he's taking away that he's kind of missing, whatever. Now someone comes at
- 1:05:00me and says, listen, you don't know more about football than Tom Brady. I'm not going to argue
- 1:05:04with you. I don't think anybody alive outside of maybe Bill Belichick and Andy Reid knows more
- 1:05:08about it. Right. So, okay, boom, fine. But I was like, I know my, my space. I know my place in
- 1:05:15here, which is like, I could be a, a go between, between somebody like Tom Brady and your average
- 1:05:19fan. I'm somewhere far closer, you know, to, uh, an expert in that space. Right. That's the great
- 1:05:26thing. And now some people can still disagree with me, but just respect the fact that this is a
- 1:05:31very well-informed decision and then take that forward for what it's worth. You're talking about
- 1:05:35like, when I, the first thing that will happen when I tell someone, like, if you want to see
- 1:05:41someone call me a dumb bitch quicker than you've ever heard in your life, watch me tell somebody
- 1:05:47I have talked to and worked with more NFL players than you can name off the top of your head. Yeah.
- 1:05:53I've said that to a couple of people who I've had to block so quickly
- 1:05:57because they went from zero to fucking die. You dumb bitch faster than you could take a breath.
- 1:06:04Yeah. Just because I said, I've worked with more NFL players than you can name off the top of your
- 1:06:08head. I'm not, I'm not the one you don't have to agree with me, but don't say, I don't know what
- 1:06:12I'm talking about. Yeah. That's it. Right. That's always, as soon as you bring up the resume because
- 1:06:17they take it as a per like, so you think that you will know better than me? Actually. Yes. Yes.
- 1:06:22You are paid for your opinion. We're, we need to qualify right here that there, there are certain
- 1:06:28opinions that are genuinely more informed and qualified. Does that automatically make them
- 1:06:33valuable? No. What I'm telling you is that there is a, there's an element to this conversation
- 1:06:39that features an imbalance, right? I'm not going to respect your opinion as much as you care about
- 1:06:45mine. Right. You already, you know, my name face and you're here on my account and you probably
- 1:06:49follow me. So right there, we're already at an imbalance because I don't know who the fuck you
- 1:06:52are. Right. So right there, what are we doing? Yeah. But by the way, this is all stemmed out
- 1:07:00because of the play between Max Muncy getting in a collision with Ildemar. By the way, I played
- 1:07:06against Max a month. I don't know him well. I think I've met a couple of times. I know Ildy
- 1:07:10a little bit because we played together for two years in the Dimebacks organization. Great guy.
- 1:07:14And the play, if you saw the play, right? Yes. So the collision, and this was all stemming from
- 1:07:19that. And the argument was like, Oh, dirty play by Max Muncy. No, it wasn't. Well, stupid play by
- 1:07:24Ildemar. It's like kind of, but no, it was just more of a, it was more of just a train wreck.
- 1:07:29And it's also very solvable. And I was explaining whose fault it was. Pitcher didn't get over,
- 1:07:33problem solved there. But here was the other problem that this just shouldn't be a case
- 1:07:37because major league baseball should just do the double bag thing at first base. And my point is
- 1:07:42it would just solve a lot of problems. And honestly, the fact that it would cause less
- 1:07:46collisions at first base would only just be an added benefit. And the amount of old heads,
- 1:07:52you're like, this isn't little league or softball. And it just turned into some weird sexist, like,
- 1:07:56no, that's for chicks. Newbie. We are, we're not pussies here in major league baseball. And it's
- 1:08:01all these fat fucks who have never played baseball a day in their lives. And I'm just kind of like,
- 1:08:05you guys have no idea what you're talking about. And I don't know what to say other than
- 1:08:10a bag that's in foul territory is just a smart, like you were just saying a fact.
- 1:08:15Like, I mean, sometimes you're to say people are arguing an actual fact. It's just the weirdest
- 1:08:19thing ever. And then somebody tried to make the arguments like, well, that why don't they have
- 1:08:22it at every base? Well, you run through first base. You don't run through the other bases.
- 1:08:26They don't, but they, so they don't actually know that. But when they realized they didn't
- 1:08:30know that rather than saying, damn, I didn't know that because they doubled down. And it'd be like,
- 1:08:35which I do, I do think we could. And that's why I've done a better job of, um, when I'm,
- 1:08:39when I'm arguing with people online to be like, if someone admits that they didn't know something,
- 1:08:43or if they sort of backed down a little bit, I try to be like, oh yeah, no, I get it. Like,
- 1:08:47whatever. Now we have a conversation, but like, cool. But here's the other thing like
- 1:08:51major league baseball, like, so the first baseline, right. Do you see that box that's
- 1:08:54in foul territory? That's supposedly where you're supposed to run. Yeah. Where's the base.
- 1:08:59It's in fucking fair territory. So I can't run in foul territory and then not hit a base. I have
- 1:09:05to hit the base, which is in fair fucking territory. We all remember what happened with
- 1:09:08the Alex Rodriguez slap. And every single time you see a guy always get called out for fucking
- 1:09:13runner interference. That's not runner interference. He has nowhere else to fucking go.
- 1:09:16He has to go to the bag. Unless you slap the ball and you slap the ball and that's runner's
- 1:09:21interference or unless the runner slaps the ball and that's put the bag in foul territory.
- 1:09:25Guess what? He has a lane. No problem. Everything is literally fixed and also less collisions.
- 1:09:32Hey. And by the way, solid, like I, I never even realized my ADHD brain never even realized until
- 1:09:40he talked about it that like, why wouldn't they have the softball thing in baseball? Like my,
- 1:09:44for some reason, my brain never connected it to like, oh, they could have that in baseball. I've
- 1:09:48been watching these softball games with Chris. He loves fucking love softball. And I'm like,
- 1:09:51wait a second. You were, you're right. Like, yeah. So instead we got just guys running into
- 1:09:56each other for no fucking reason. And then guys running head first into a brick wall because
- 1:10:00Cody disagrees with them on the internet. I'm sitting here just like, I don't get it. I,
- 1:10:05you, I'm not saying you have to agree with me, but you should probably take my opinion
- 1:10:09into account when we're talking about baseball. The thing I dedicated my entire life to and did
- 1:10:13professionally. I don't know why it's so hard to say like, that's what I'm saying. I don't know
- 1:10:16why it's so hard to say like, Hey, like, I respect that your, I respect your, um, like
- 1:10:23the authority that you have in this space. I just happen to disagree on this. I don't understand.
- 1:10:28There are people who I agree with 80% of the time and 20%, I'm like, man, I don't see where they
- 1:10:32come, but they have doctorates or their PhDs or they're like, or they are professors or whatever.
- 1:10:38And I'm like, all right, well, if I disagree with them, maybe I'm off. Maybe it's a cultural thing.
- 1:10:41Maybe it's whatever. Maybe I'm a dumb ass. Maybe this, they're just off on this. But at the end of
- 1:10:45the day, they are highly qualified to have this opinion. And that's also, okay. That's it. That's
- 1:10:52it. That's a lot of dying on guys. Throw out your ego when you're talking to professionals, their
- 1:10:58field, right? Oh, mine's actually like, not, it's like kind of in a similar vein, which is the hill
- 1:11:04I'm dying on is, um, you're actually allowed to have fun and create community and still be
- 1:11:12politically very activated and very engaged. This seems to be a hot topic. Um, after, I remember
- 1:11:23this happening last year, but I wasn't at the conference last year. It happened again this year
- 1:11:27where bunch of creators on the left, on the political left from, from your classic sort of
- 1:11:34centrist liberal all the way to like extremely progressive all the way to leftist. We're all
- 1:11:40in a space and we go and we learn about how to advocate, how to, you know, interact with
- 1:11:46these specific spaces, how to create advocacy and political advocacy within our, uh, all of our
- 1:11:52respective niches. We create connections with each other. We network with each other,
- 1:11:57and then we go out and during the after party of all these things, connect more and network more.
- 1:12:04Now, don't know if you've ever networked, don't know if you guys have ever networked,
- 1:12:08but in every single fucking industry I've ever heard in my life, the real networking happens
- 1:12:14when you're out having drinks, having a few cocktails, having a, uh, a little basket of
- 1:12:19mozzarella sticks, whatever it might be at a bar. It's at a golf course where the networking really
- 1:12:24happens every time during the day we're doing courses, we're doing seminars. We're listening
- 1:12:28to app to the people who are experts. We're talking to governors. We're doing the thing.
- 1:12:33And then later we're like, Hey, and so what is it? Okay. Like, well, and you're doing the
- 1:12:36networking. There is a segment of people on the internet who've decided that when they see
- 1:12:41creators out taking selfies together, having a good time going to karaoke that we no longer give
- 1:12:47a fuck about the government. It's actually all performative bullshit. We're getting paid to be
- 1:12:52there because we're shills and there's, we don't actually give a fuck. We're just, we're posers.
- 1:12:59The real people who do the real work are apparently in basements yelling at us on the
- 1:13:05internet. They're the real ones doing the real work. We are, we're frauds. We're the frauds that
- 1:13:11are out having a good time. I'm going to be so fucking for real. I would love for you to get
- 1:13:16out of your basement and I don't know, have a beer and like get your dick sucked or something
- 1:13:22because I'm not, I don't want you to be miserable. I don't want you to be friendless. I don't want
- 1:13:27you to be community list. I don't know why you want that for us, but the life of somebody who
- 1:13:32is making it in any sort of industry right now where you're also doing content is incredibly
- 1:13:36difficult. It is incredibly difficult. I am not currently personally right now even financially
- 1:13:42stable myself. If it weren't for the fact that I was in a relationship, I would be struggling and
- 1:13:48even then things are not great. I am not getting paid by the fucking DNC. I am not getting paid
- 1:13:56by anyone. I would love to be getting paid by somebody. No one's fucking paying me.
- 1:14:01So do not come for me and having some level of joy around creating community and connections
- 1:14:06to maybe eventually be able to be paid so I can keep doing the good fucking work that I do because
- 1:14:10I do fucking excellent work. The one thing I'll say about myself is I do really fucking good work
- 1:14:15and I get told about it every single day. I have people tell me every day how much it matters to
- 1:14:19them and you're going to come in and tell me that you saw a picture of me or I was taking selfies
- 1:14:25and now you don't buy my shit. My entire career is here where it is. The fact that I don't have a
- 1:14:30job, the fact that it's difficult to get paid is because I fucking say what I say is because I
- 1:14:34advocate for what I advocate for and because I stand on my fucking business. I stand on business
- 1:14:39every time and so I will die on the hill that you can shut the fuck up when you see people who are
- 1:14:43advocating for the things that you say you believe in and they just happen to be having a good time
- 1:14:48while they're doing it. Let's be real clear. The people that are mad and this is just true
- 1:14:55because life is still high school. They weren't cool enough to be invited. The end. That's all it
- 1:15:01is and I got nothing else to say to you and if that's the case, by all means, I'm sorry you
- 1:15:06weren't invited. That being said, get cooler. Oops. I got nothing else. By the way, you bitching about
- 1:15:14it doesn't make us want to invite you to the party. Also, I also want to point that out.
- 1:15:19It doesn't make me real inclined to be like, you know, let's throw an invite out to that one.
- 1:15:24It means you can stay home. Cody, then they do the like, I didn't even want to come to your stupid
- 1:15:28party anyway. You're lame. You're actually lame. You're like actually a democratic shill. You think
- 1:15:32I'm a democratic shill? You think I'm a democratic shill? Oh my god, have you met me? Nobody in any
- 1:15:39political space likes me. I would love for somebody to come to me and be like, I'd love to pay you to
- 1:15:44fucking talk about something you believe in. No one wants to pay me for my beliefs because I don't
- 1:15:49play anyone's goddamn games. That's why I'm here yelling on a microphone to you, rather than
- 1:15:55sitting in a Fox Sports studio. Believe me, I could have played the game. I could have played
- 1:15:59the game and stayed at Fox Sports. I could have played the game enough to get myself to a place
- 1:16:03where I was unfireable, taking a little less money, said the right things, done the thing,
- 1:16:08or I could have gone over to Apple Sports and worked for my friend and continue to work for
- 1:16:12the man. I'm here. Shut the fuck up and let me go to my goddamn cool parties with cool people, okay?
- 1:16:19Sorry, nerds. Sorry, nerds. I'm cool and poor. Bye. We're cool people in the sports world. We're
- 1:16:26cool. Listen. All I have is that I'm cool and hot and have good opinions. I do not have money. Let
- 1:16:34me live, okay? All I got is I got cool arms and a beard. Exactly. Let us have what we have.
- 1:16:42That's all I got. I got jacked arms and a sweet beard. Hereditary alcoholism. Thanks.
- 1:16:48Good. Same. Good shirts, by the way. A good closet of shirts.
- 1:16:53Thank you. Thank you. I do try to dress well.
- 1:16:56As well.
- 1:16:56I do try to dress well. That is-
- 1:16:57And a solid glasses collection.
- 1:16:58All these old things. Chalk me your mod. Thanks for noticing. As you know, these are my personal
- 1:17:05favorites. I wear them most often, but I do have a new pair on the way.
- 1:17:09Are they one of the ones that are heavy and made out of mammoth bone or whatever?
- 1:17:14It's buffalo horn. And no, it is not made of buffalo horn. That would have been an extra
- 1:17:19thousand dollars. But I do have a pair of buffalo horn glasses.
- 1:17:23Oh, you do?
- 1:17:23But I got the same model, but not in buffalo horn.
- 1:17:26You got the dupes?
- 1:17:27I got the regular ones. And they're not as big as my buffalo horn ones. I got the XLs,
- 1:17:31because I figured if I'm going in, I'm going all in.
- 1:17:32You got to get the XL buffalo horn.
- 1:17:33But I got to say, I only wear them on special occasions. But when I wear them,
- 1:17:37oh, I wear it. You've seen them. I've worn them on the show once.
- 1:17:40I will wear them again. Don't you worry.
- 1:17:42For a special occasion.
- 1:17:44I only brought those very specifically for special occasions.
- 1:17:48If I'm wearing a suit, I'm likely wearing those.
- 1:17:50Okay, perfect.
- 1:17:51Yeah, because they're too fucking cool.
- 1:17:52They are cool. I agree.
- 1:17:54I love them. Fucking love them. You know what they are? They're called Ocean.
- 1:17:58And the Little Inside Baseball, the reason they're called Ocean,
- 1:18:01because they were specifically made for the movie Ocean's Eleven for Elliot Gould.
- 1:18:05When he was out in the pool.
- 1:18:07Yeah. Iconic glasses.
- 1:18:09It's those glasses. So I ordered a black pair of that,
- 1:18:12because I wanted to have another black pair.
- 1:18:13And I'm like, well, I need to get those in black.
- 1:18:15That's actually pretty sick.
- 1:18:16I want to wear them more often.
- 1:18:17Yeah, that's pretty sick.
- 1:18:18Because I am getting old and I am Jewish, so I should have old Jewish glasses.
- 1:18:22You've got to have old Jewish glasses.
- 1:18:23I need a pair of daily driver old Jewish glasses.
- 1:18:26100%.
- 1:18:26I want to look like Seymour Cohen, my grandfather, for the rest of my life.
- 1:18:29Well, he didn't shave the head, but you know what I'm saying.
- 1:18:32No, it's still the same as old Jewish aesthetic.
- 1:18:36Driving around Cadillac, gigantic glasses.
- 1:18:38Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:18:38That's the way life should be.
- 1:18:40Yeah, well, once again, Cody, we yapped too long to talk about the bloody sock.
- 1:18:45We did, but we had a lot of things we had to get off our chest.
- 1:18:47What can we say?
- 1:18:47Yeah, I mean, I talked a lot.
- 1:18:48We talked a lot of baseball, too.
- 1:18:50And somehow we still did not hit on the bloody sock of it all.
- 1:18:52Well, you know, we also have an NBA Finals game we have to go watch right now,
- 1:18:55which, of course, right now, as we stand,
- 1:18:57the San Antonio Spurs are up 10 points, but again, 10 minutes left.
- 1:18:59Yeah, you guys don't even get it,
- 1:19:00but we have a Jumbotron in here that we're watching this on like we're at a bar.
- 1:19:03I'm actually watching it on two separate TVs right now.
- 1:19:05Yeah, like currently I can see it on both angles.
- 1:19:07That's pretty sweet.
- 1:19:07You guys, we have, we're cool.
- 1:19:09We are, like, I don't-
- 1:19:10We may be poor, but we're cool.
- 1:19:12We may be poor, but we are very cool.
- 1:19:14Well, that's it for us.
- 1:19:16We'll see you on Thursday.
- 1:19:17Also, fuck Kurt Schilling.
- 1:19:18Oh my God, fuck Kurt Schilling.
