- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Conspiracy the Show with your hosts Adam Todd
- 0:16Speaker 1: Brown and Connor mcspaden. Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy Shit.
- 0:37Speaker 2: I haven't been on this. I don't know what you say.
- 0:39Speaker 1: You've never done any episodes of this because Connor mcspadden has.
- 0:42Speaker 1: The last I heard, a black van pulled up. Connor
- 0:46Speaker 1: was tossed in back and he hasn't been seen since.
- 0:51Speaker 1: So look forward to the episode about what happened to
- 0:54Speaker 1: Connor mcspadden.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's real rough, being kidnapped and forced to write.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Used to write for Roast Battle and the Comedy Central
- 1:02Speaker 1: roast to Bruce willis you know who's not writing.
- 1:04Speaker 2: For Roast Battle? Me? Here ready for unpupps. You know
- 1:07Speaker 2: who else isn't me? Also here wady for umpups.
- 1:11Speaker 1: So Connor will probably be back at some point, I
- 1:14Speaker 1: don't know, but until.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Then we have guests galore.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Uh for the next four weeks, we have lots of
- 1:23Speaker 1: guests kicking things off with Chest almost said chest wild
- 1:27Speaker 1: because I was saying guests so much.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Oh that's nic How are you chato? Okay, it's a
- 1:33Speaker 2: little warm, but I'm excited to be potting with you again.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I'm sorry I didn't make the Hollywood Hotel show. It
- 1:39Speaker 2: was such a fun show.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yeah, we shockingly a crowd of mostly walk ins from
- 1:46Speaker 1: the Hollywood Hotel stayed for most of the show, even
- 1:50Speaker 1: through the music. And there was a woman giving me
- 1:52Speaker 1: the stink eye over that music because she was sitting
- 1:56Speaker 1: right next to the speaker and I was right across
- 1:59Speaker 1: from her, and I think she was trying to have
- 2:01Speaker 1: a shared fuck this moment with me, and I was like, no,
- 2:05Speaker 1: I'm into this, Why don't you get out of here
- 2:08Speaker 1: to jerk?
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, so it worked out. Yeah, the Hollywood Hotel show
- 2:12Speaker 2: was fun. I like an idiot chose to go work
- 2:16Speaker 2: a sold out comedy club, two hundred people packed. Is
- 2:19Speaker 2: their eleventh year anniversary show, and they're like, we're gonna
- 2:21Speaker 2: bring ten hend whiners. They'll do short sets. How the
- 2:24Speaker 2: fuck I'm on that bill, I don't know, but I
- 2:26Speaker 2: was real excited because it's gonna get a tape for
- 2:28Speaker 2: this TV thing I'm spending for hot crowd. And then
- 2:31Speaker 2: the comic that goes up before me, I've never heard
- 2:33Speaker 2: of him. He's like traveling through I shit, you not
- 2:36Speaker 2: a French pirate. So imagine somebody dressed as a pirate
- 2:42Speaker 2: wearing a beret and an eyepatch. Okay, who plays accordion
- 2:47Speaker 2: while firing off one liners? And let me tell you
- 2:52Speaker 2: if you want a hard act to follow, I won't
- 2:56Speaker 2: comment on the clear lack of respect I have for
- 2:59Speaker 2: the amount of crutch is used in that act. Right,
- 3:02Speaker 2: the writing wasn't strong, But there's something with people about
- 3:07Speaker 2: like this is different. He ended ups on. I got
- 3:10Speaker 2: a clap that they were just not ready for actual jokes,
- 3:14Speaker 2: and man did I flounder?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yeah, following those one liner types is difficult. Sometimes one
- 3:20Speaker 1: liner isn't the difficult part, it's the well, the accordion.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I will not an accordion pirate like any of those things.
- 3:28Speaker 2: If you're like, I had to follow guy with a
- 3:29Speaker 2: high iPad, you'd be like, okay, I had to follow
- 3:30Speaker 2: a guy with an accordion. Okay, I had to follow
- 3:32Speaker 2: I had to follow French pirate with an eye passion,
- 3:35Speaker 2: an accordion. Man, I was not, so I didn't. I
- 3:38Speaker 2: should have come down and done a set afterwards to
- 3:40Speaker 2: redeem myself, and I'm just like, I don't. I don't
- 3:42Speaker 2: want to be anything comedy for the rest of the night.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I understand. I want to find a fat burger and
- 3:49Speaker 2: eat a fat burger two in the morning. Got the
- 3:52Speaker 2: fat burger.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It's a nice cube reference. How do you feel about
- 3:56Speaker 1: conspiracy theories since you've never done this show.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I mean, there's a time and a place that they're
- 4:03Speaker 2: not all crazy, they're not all insane, but also a
- 4:06Speaker 2: lot of them are insane. Like anything tied to Alex
- 4:08Speaker 2: Jones go fuck yourself.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I have an Alex Jones conspiracy theory, which
- 4:14Speaker 1: is that Alex Jones is actually connected to the US
- 4:17Speaker 1: government and just spreads misinformation to discredit people who might
- 4:22Speaker 1: actually uncover actual information that the world would want to hear.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Which I played right into that because I said, anything
- 4:29Speaker 2: this guy says is bullshit. So if somebody actually did
- 4:31Speaker 2: have a credible conspiracy theory, Alex Jones was pushing it hard,
- 4:34Speaker 2: I'd be like, look at his track record. No thanks,
- 4:36Speaker 2: yeah exactly.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Are there any conspiracies in particular that you have looked
- 4:42Speaker 1: into and believe?
- 4:45Speaker 2: I don't know about believe, but I certainly do get
- 4:47Speaker 2: sucked into the nine to eleven stuff. As the nine
- 4:50Speaker 2: to eleven boards blinking at me, ah, shout out to
- 4:52Speaker 2: the nine to eleven board. It's not that I definitively
- 4:56Speaker 2: think it was a full conspiracy, just the amount of
- 5:00Speaker 2: of arguments and different angles people take in different videos
- 5:03Speaker 2: that are out there, like there are seemingly compelling arguments.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And see that actually ties in pretty well to my
- 5:10Speaker 1: opinion on Alex Jones, because I do believe there's a
- 5:13Speaker 1: conspiracy and cover up regarding nine to eleven, and people
- 5:18Speaker 1: like Alex Jones push the really crazy version where it
- 5:22Speaker 1: was like Bush planned it and it was an inside
- 5:26Speaker 1: job what I think it was with Saudi Arabia, most
- 5:29Speaker 1: of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. There was for
- 5:33Speaker 1: a long time this rumor or legend that a Saudi
- 5:38Speaker 1: intelligence agent came to the United States and met with
- 5:41Speaker 1: some of the hijackers before nine to eleven. And there
- 5:45Speaker 1: were all these pages of the nine to eleven report
- 5:47Speaker 1: that were classified for years and years and years, and
- 5:50Speaker 1: they finally declassified them, and sure enough that Saudi intelligence
- 5:55Speaker 1: officer did come to the United States and he did
- 5:58Speaker 1: meet with some of the high hijackers before nine to eleven.
- 6:02Speaker 1: But Saudi Arabia is such an ally to us, like
- 6:05Speaker 1: the families of nine to eleven victims wanted to sue
- 6:09Speaker 1: the Saudi government, and fucking Obama blocked them from being
- 6:13Speaker 1: able to do it. So I think people like Alex
- 6:17Speaker 1: Jones spread like loose change type shit, which is the
- 6:21Speaker 1: big nine to eleven documentary, to the benefit of the
- 6:25Speaker 1: US government because it keeps us because otherwise we'd all
- 6:28Speaker 1: probably really be hitting on that Saudi Arabia thing and
- 6:31Speaker 1: be like, why the fuck did we go to Iraq
- 6:33Speaker 1: and Afghanistan when most of the hijackers were Saudi's.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Yeah, like what prompted that? Just needed to get people
- 6:43Speaker 2: to swing emotionally enough to get behind it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But now if you just even mentioned that you have
- 6:48Speaker 1: any doubts about the official explanation of nine to eleven,
- 6:51Speaker 1: you're just written off as a crazy person. So in
- 6:54Speaker 1: that way, someone like Alex Jones is really effective.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Now nine to eleven. People always get stuck on the
- 6:59Speaker 2: two tower. Is not that they aren't significant bright it means,
- 7:02Speaker 2: but do you have any specific thoughts or beliefs surrounding
- 7:06Speaker 2: the plane that went down Pennsylvania or the Pentagon? Which
- 7:09Speaker 2: it always surprises me how much the Pentagon getting hit
- 7:13Speaker 2: by a plane supposedly is overlooked.
- 7:15Speaker 1: The Pentagon one is really weird. The Pentagon plane. There's
- 7:19Speaker 1: one witness to the plane hitting and that's it, right,
- 7:24Speaker 1: that's it. Well, no, there's people who saw the plane approaching,
- 7:29Speaker 1: but there's only somehow one guy who was in the
- 7:32Speaker 1: vicinity of the White House during rush hour traffic in Washington, DC.
- 7:37Speaker 1: And the thing is, his account of the direction the
- 7:40Speaker 1: plane's coming from differs from everyone else. Everyone else says
- 7:43Speaker 1: it was coming from a different way. And if you look,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you can find videos about this guy online. What he
- 7:50Speaker 1: says is that this plane knocked over a light pole
- 7:53Speaker 1: and that the light pole fell into the windshield of
- 7:56Speaker 1: his car. And if you look at his car, the
- 7:59Speaker 1: light pole is sticking through it. But there's no damage
- 8:02Speaker 1: to the hood of the car none, not a scratch
- 8:05Speaker 1: how and actually the pictures you just see the whole
- 8:09Speaker 1: you don't even see the light pole.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember, it's been a while since I watched this.
- 8:13Speaker 2: But there's also throughout like how would a plane possibly yeah,
- 8:17Speaker 2: like the angle at which it would have to come
- 8:18Speaker 2: down and clip all sorts of things.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the Pentagon, there's some weirdness around the Pentagon. I
- 8:23Speaker 1: think Flight ninety three was shot down and I wish
- 8:25Speaker 1: they would just tell us because I'd be fine with it.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I mean, it makes sense, but it's what you're supposed
- 8:29Speaker 2: to do in those situations.
- 8:31Speaker 1: But yeah, I guess it makes sense to cover up
- 8:34Speaker 1: what really happened and turn it into a major motion picture.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I guess that's better. I mean, it's it's one of
- 8:42Speaker 2: those things where it's so stupid that it works, like
- 8:45Speaker 2: where you just shove something in people's face and you're like, oh, yeah, yeah,
- 8:49Speaker 2: I don't believe that Andrew WK conspiracy.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Now I don't either, although the people working at that
- 8:54Speaker 1: club that night do say Andrew WK was acting very weird.
- 8:59Speaker 1: But people have Yeah, people have off nights. That doesn't
- 9:02Speaker 1: mean they're replaced by an impostor. Except Avril Levine, she's
- 9:05Speaker 1: probably been replaced.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we did that episode years ago back at
- 9:10Speaker 2: the old Cracked office about like right different child stars
- 9:14Speaker 2: that were basically like raped and thrown in ditches. That
- 9:18Speaker 2: sounds awful. That was Miley Cyrus.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, that's the vivid example that are not vivid,
- 9:23Speaker 1: but like the yeah we did that was like an
- 9:25Speaker 1: example that was basically a precursor to Conspiracy. The show
- 9:28Speaker 1: that was an episode of Unpopular opinion that we talked
- 9:32Speaker 1: about those same disappearances and imposter type conspiracies as they
- 9:38Speaker 1: relate to celebrities.
- 9:39Speaker 2: And that's go ahead. I was just gonna say a
- 9:41Speaker 2: lot of people. Probably the biggest conspiracy that I have
- 9:45Speaker 2: an issue with is people that say, uh, Columbus is
- 9:48Speaker 2: a nice city, Columbus, Ohio. You're bringing that to this
- 9:51Speaker 2: podcast where no one. Oh, I don't understand the references
- 9:56Speaker 2: chets making because I only listened to Conspiracy the podcast. Well, sure,
- 10:00Speaker 2: if you want to hear us talk about Columbus, Ohio,
- 10:04Speaker 2: what my issues are with it, as well as Nazis
- 10:07Speaker 2: and fuck them. Come over to Good Luck America, Good
- 10:10Speaker 2: Luck New Hair Code every Monday. They're free free is
- 10:12Speaker 2: this free? This is?
- 10:13Speaker 1: Two episodes of this are free a month and then
- 10:15Speaker 1: there's two patreons all the time. You can come listen
- 10:18Speaker 1: to us talk Politics, American news and politics because Me
- 10:23Speaker 1: and the Esteemed Quincy Johnson the second do an international
- 10:26Speaker 1: news and politics podcast also that you should check out
- 10:30Speaker 1: called What in the World But Me and Chat. Just recently,
- 10:33Speaker 1: we're only eleven episodes in to.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Man Only how many more to go? Fifty seven? Would
- 10:42Speaker 2: it be? Fifty eight? Fifty eight. I don't know, it
- 10:45Speaker 2: would definitely be fifty. But there's gonna be a very
- 10:48Speaker 2: funny thing that happens. It'll be episode sixty. You said it,
- 10:53Speaker 2: you set it, I hinted at it, and you said it.
- 10:56Speaker 2: If that's not funny to either, you don't need to
- 10:58Speaker 2: get any repers. That's just objective way good comedy. That's
- 11:01Speaker 2: just good quality colmed. But also, we don't stand for
- 11:04Speaker 2: Nazi shit on Good Luck America, Adam, what do you
- 11:07Speaker 2: frequently say about, Hey, if you don't want to be
- 11:08Speaker 2: compared to a Nazi.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Don't align yourself with Nazis. Yeah, don't vote for a Nazi.
- 11:12Speaker 1: So but let's fucking get shit. But yeah, check out
- 11:17Speaker 1: Good Luck America every Monday with me and Shay Wild.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Actually it's chat. I like making it a silent icy
- 11:24Speaker 2: tea brown. Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 1: That everything we just talked about kind of ties into
- 11:30Speaker 1: what we're talking about next because you mentioned cracked, and
- 11:35Speaker 1: this theory we're going to talk about today, in my opinion,
- 11:38Speaker 1: is not even a conspiracy theory.
- 11:40Speaker 2: It's just facts. And one issue I have with your article,
- 11:44Speaker 2: and I'll we'll get to it in a bit, is
- 11:47Speaker 2: the most blatant thing that backs up your case. You
- 11:50Speaker 2: didn't even mention in the article. What's that? I got
- 11:53Speaker 2: the icing on the cake. We'll get to it. Okay,
- 11:55Speaker 2: I feel like you're doing a bit right now.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I've never done a bit on this podcast over because
- 12:00Speaker 1: you've never been on this podcast on this podcast network.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I am bit free, but bitless wilde they call me.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And the thing about conspiracy, this this particular podcast. I
- 12:11Speaker 1: think this is probably the one that gets the most
- 12:15Speaker 1: listens from people who don't listen to the rest of
- 12:18Speaker 1: our shit.
- 12:18Speaker 2: All right, no references. We put it on Spotify for
- 12:21Speaker 2: a while.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Well, no, that I'm more justifying why I'm doing this
- 12:24Speaker 1: episode because we did this episode once as an unpopular
- 12:29Speaker 1: opinion episode, and man, this is an idea that needs
- 12:33Speaker 1: to get more attention because I am one hundred percent
- 12:36Speaker 1: correct in this shit and I have no doubts about that.
- 12:40Speaker 2: So I'm the guy that said Trump would get elected.
- 12:43Speaker 1: So I did say Trump would get elected, and he did.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And I actually this is the this article I wrote
- 12:50Speaker 1: the week after the Trump article, and it's an article
- 12:54Speaker 1: about how the band Ace of Bass was actually a
- 12:58Speaker 1: Nazi or a white nationalist or white supremacist band. And
- 13:03Speaker 1: the reason I'm doing it again is because I don't.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of the conspiracy the show
- 13:08Speaker 1: audience hasn't been exposed to this yet, and it's like
- 13:12Speaker 1: it's like one of my defining moments in life because
- 13:17Speaker 1: the way I found this it was also like coincidental and.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Weird, and there's no such thing as coincidences. You were
- 13:26Speaker 2: meant for this. It's your greater purpose.
- 13:28Speaker 1: My destiny, to take down a band that hasn't released
- 13:31Speaker 1: an album almost in two decades.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Maybe they'll play my living room.
- 13:35Speaker 1: If you don't want to be called a Nazi, don't
- 13:38Speaker 1: associate with not. But we could put them on the spot.
- 13:40Speaker 1: We could trick them and then be like, tell us
- 13:42Speaker 1: the Nazis. Yeah, And see, here's the thing. The Nazi
- 13:46Speaker 1: background of a SA bass is actually pretty well known.
- 13:49Speaker 1: That part is not a secret. There was an article
- 13:53Speaker 1: by Vice Music editor Ben Shapiro, not not that Ben
- 14:01Speaker 1: make that very clear. He wrote an article a few
- 14:03Speaker 1: years back that revealed ASA base founder Ulf Eckberg, who
- 14:08Speaker 1: I believe they refer to as Smurf, was once in
- 14:11Speaker 1: a Nazi punk band called Commit Suicide suicide spelled with
- 14:16Speaker 1: two s's your.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Nazi impression sounds oddly racist towards Japanese people. For some reason,
- 14:24Speaker 2: sounded like somebody doing a bad impression of a Kami
- 14:27Speaker 2: Kazi pilot.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Listen, Japan committed a lot of atrocities in World War Two.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I know a lot of suicides. That's what I was
- 14:33Speaker 2: going with there.
- 14:35Speaker 1: And here's a sample of that band's translated lyrics.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I'll let you read this one at him.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Yeah, men in white hoods marched down the road. We
- 14:45Speaker 1: enjoy ourselves when we're sawing off n words heads. And
- 14:48Speaker 1: they did not say n word. They said the real
- 14:51Speaker 1: word immigrant. We hate you out out, out out Nordic people,
- 14:57Speaker 1: wake up now.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Shoot shoot shoot shoot? Why did they gotta bring Nordic
- 15:01Speaker 2: people into this? See, I love me some Norway. I'm
- 15:04Speaker 2: going to Norway, fucking deal with. Maybe you can join
- 15:06Speaker 2: ASA bass. They probably need a drummer and I'll audition
- 15:10Speaker 2: and then the band will never get back to me.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Deep references, Listen to the other pods. Yeah, that is
- 15:16Speaker 2: a deep reference.
- 15:17Speaker 1: And this article he wrote it ends basically asking the question,
- 15:22Speaker 1: did this guy start a sub bass to kind of
- 15:26Speaker 1: wipe the slate clean and hide his Nazi past?
- 15:30Speaker 2: Well, the original name of the band was Master Race
- 15:33Speaker 2: of Bass actually, so that's that's where the name comes from.
- 15:38Speaker 2: But they just took off the master r I get.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I got one of these. I get to keep funny
- 15:44Speaker 2: on this podcast. And so here's the thing.
- 15:48Speaker 1: He asked that question, and the answer to that question
- 15:51Speaker 1: is no, he did not use ASA Bass to hide
- 15:54Speaker 1: his Nazi past, because ASA Bass is also a Nazi band.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Like blatantly, I almost we were gonna do this episode
- 16:04Speaker 1: on Sunday with Tom Ryman and David Bell, who worked
- 16:07Speaker 1: with me at Cracked at the time. And right around
- 16:10Speaker 1: the same time I wrote this article, he wrote an
- 16:14Speaker 1: article about how the Muppets caused nine to eleven, and
- 16:16Speaker 1: people in the comments were just like, yeah, man, I
- 16:19Speaker 1: wish you'd taken this a little more seriously. This like
- 16:21Speaker 1: this sounds legit and he was joking. And then I
- 16:26Speaker 1: write this and I'm deadly serious. It includes visual aids
- 16:31Speaker 1: to help you see everything I'm talking about, and people
- 16:34Speaker 1: are like, this feels like a reach, Like it feels
- 16:38Speaker 1: like a reach that a former Nazi incorporated Nazi imagery
- 16:42Speaker 1: into his new band.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Why the tagline of the website is America's Only humor website.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So well, that's because when I was there, it was
- 16:49Speaker 1: the only humor website.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Now there's no humor website exactly. Wamp wamp. Sorry. Fox
- 16:55Speaker 2: News can be funny in it's ownly. Yeah, that's true.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So I want to go through some of the the
- 17:01Speaker 1: signs that.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Man, you don't even know.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I didn't even intend to do that. Man, I want
- 17:09Speaker 1: to go through some of the sign just like the
- 17:13Speaker 1: ones they saw, the signs I saw. When I saw
- 17:16Speaker 1: the sign that told me a sabasse was a bunch
- 17:18Speaker 1: of fucking.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Nazis, I just thought it said I saw the sun.
- 17:21Speaker 2: By the way, I don't even know it was sign until, like.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Travis Clark thought the second line of good Vibration by
- 17:29Speaker 1: Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, the chorus where they say.
- 17:32Speaker 2: It's such a good.
- 17:35Speaker 1: He thought the second line was it's that sweet Dixie charm.
- 17:39Speaker 2: What is the actual lyric? I know it's not that,
- 17:41Speaker 2: but it's a sweet sensation sweet. I don't know how
- 17:47Speaker 2: what the fuck?
- 17:48Speaker 1: It's one of my favorite misheard lyrics probably ever. I
- 17:52Speaker 1: was so baffled when he brought that up on a
- 17:54Speaker 1: podcast that we were live streaming in front of all
- 17:56Speaker 1: the world to see. I did cut it out and
- 17:59Speaker 1: put it in the outtakes, but I didn't put it
- 18:01Speaker 1: in the public episode. But now this is a public
- 18:03Speaker 1: episode and I just put it.
- 18:05Speaker 2: But if you want to hear our best pod, go
- 18:06Speaker 2: to the outtakes, the pod that's too good for the
- 18:08Speaker 2: regular pods.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you get the weekly outtakes episode when you subscribe
- 18:12Speaker 1: on Patreon, because I know you're listening to this for free.
- 18:15Speaker 2: But we still love you anyway.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Baby. Hashtag plugs, hashtag plugs, bak on track, back on track.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Let's talk about the first thing that caught my attention
- 18:25Speaker 1: when it comes to this story. Think about the name.
- 18:28Speaker 1: It's Ace of Bass, but it's not b ass as
- 18:31Speaker 1: you would expect. We might think it was best well,
- 18:35Speaker 1: but still it's a band they that makes like fucking
- 18:38Speaker 1: house music or technomia, whatever the fuck this band made,
- 18:42Speaker 1: and so you would expect it to be bass, but
- 18:44Speaker 1: it's not.
- 18:44Speaker 2: It's Ace of Bass B A S. E.
- 18:48Speaker 1: And what first tipped me off that that might be
- 18:51Speaker 1: something weird. There's a show I don't know if it's
- 18:55Speaker 1: still on Netflix, but you can find it out there.
- 18:57Speaker 1: It's a documentary series called Nazi megaweapons. And the second
- 19:01Speaker 1: episode of the first season is about the Caraman Submarine Base,
- 19:06Speaker 1: and this was The Caraman Submarine Base was a huge,
- 19:11Speaker 1: just massive U boat launching facility that was in the
- 19:16Speaker 1: French town of Laurient, and it was one of the
- 19:20Speaker 1: most ambitious and important projects of the entire Nazi war machine.
- 19:26Speaker 1: In nineteen forty one alone, missions originating from this base
- 19:32Speaker 1: took out more than five hundred Allied ships sound and
- 19:36Speaker 1: that's in one year. And it was so well constructed.
- 19:40Speaker 1: The Allies built a bomb specifically, built a new bomb
- 19:44Speaker 1: specifically to try and take out this facility, which they
- 19:48Speaker 1: were not able to do.
- 19:50Speaker 2: They called a tall Boy. Yeah.
- 19:52Speaker 1: They eventually neutralized it by literally flattening the entire city
- 19:58Speaker 1: around it so these U boats could not reach it,
- 20:01Speaker 1: but the Nazis maintained control of it through the end
- 20:04Speaker 1: of the war. We never got it from them. If
- 20:06Speaker 1: you were a Nazi historian on the wrong side of
- 20:10Speaker 1: history where you study Nazis and you're like, yeah, I
- 20:13Speaker 1: wish this would have worked out. God damn it, I
- 20:15Speaker 1: love these dudes so much. The Kraman facility is something
- 20:20Speaker 1: you would know and something you would probably take a
- 20:22Speaker 1: little bit of pride in as a Nazi sympathizer yourself,
- 20:27Speaker 1: because the Nazis took a lot of pride in it.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Because the Allies never took it from them. You don't
- 20:32Speaker 1: have to call them Nazi sympathizers. You can call them
- 20:34Speaker 1: what they are, Nazis.
- 20:36Speaker 2: And here's the thing.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Because most of Germany's top U boat captains launched their
- 20:44Speaker 1: missions from here, from this Caraman facility, they called the
- 20:48Speaker 1: Kraman Submarine Facility the base of Aces, Base of Aces.
- 20:56Speaker 1: So flip ASA base around, Yeah, could you draw this
- 20:59Speaker 1: up there?
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah? Can I?
- 21:00Speaker 1: Can I point it out anymore? The Base of Aces?
- 21:04Speaker 1: And when I heard that, I had not read this
- 21:06Speaker 1: Vice article. I did not give a shit enough about
- 21:09Speaker 1: ASA Base to know anything that had transpired with them
- 21:13Speaker 1: since the early nineties when they were making music.
- 21:16Speaker 2: And I heard that.
- 21:16Speaker 1: And was like, man, what if Ace of Bass's name
- 21:21Speaker 1: is a Nazi reference? So then I went out and
- 21:23Speaker 1: hit the Googles and I find this Vice article that
- 21:27Speaker 1: makes it very clear that one of the founding members
- 21:31Speaker 1: at least used to be a Nazi, presumably no longer.
- 21:36Speaker 1: But because that's how Nazism works, you just wake up yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 1: you just grow out of it one day.
- 21:41Speaker 2: So here's the thing.
- 21:43Speaker 1: It's possible that that is, well, I should explain Asa Basse.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Their explanation for the band name is that, well, the
- 21:50Speaker 1: studio is like our bass and we're like the masters
- 21:55Speaker 1: of the studio. And it's like, all right, well, why
- 21:57Speaker 1: aren't you called masters of bass? Then why are you
- 22:00Speaker 1: called ace of Bass? And why is it basse? And
- 22:04Speaker 1: that's their explanation, which I guess.
- 22:07Speaker 2: But they only put out one album. H this was
- 22:10Speaker 2: their first album, right, how are you a master of
- 22:11Speaker 2: something if you haven't put out anything else? Good point.
- 22:14Speaker 1: And here's the thing I know, maybe there's a lot
- 22:17Speaker 1: of skeptics who listened to this podcast just to I
- 22:20Speaker 1: don't know, hate listen to it. Who people who just
- 22:23Speaker 1: assume every conspiracy theory is fake. Ask yourself, what is
- 22:27Speaker 1: more likely that this band that consists of at least
- 22:33Speaker 1: one Nazi, a dude who has a history of being
- 22:37Speaker 1: in a very vile Nazi band in the past. What's
- 22:41Speaker 1: more likely that he just threw together three words that
- 22:45Speaker 1: just happened to kind of sound similar to a Nazi reference,
- 22:49Speaker 1: or that he knows this is a Nazi reference, but
- 22:52Speaker 1: also knows it's a Nazi reference. Most people who aren't
- 22:55Speaker 1: Nazis aren't gonna get like. I only picked up on
- 22:59Speaker 1: this because Trump was on the verge of getting elected.
- 23:02Speaker 1: So I was taken in a bunch of Nazi ship
- 23:04Speaker 1: to figure out what we're what we're up against. And
- 23:07Speaker 1: that's the only way I made the connection between ace
- 23:10Speaker 1: of basse in this Caraman submarine facility. Most people would
- 23:14Speaker 1: not pick up on ace of Bass as a Nazi reference. Now,
- 23:18Speaker 1: I if I had, if I was a Nazi band,
- 23:20Speaker 1: I would have named it way more on the notes,
- 23:22Speaker 1: like we Hitler's whistled be a barbershop quartet that only
- 23:28Speaker 1: whistles that hitler esque music.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Yeah, what's hitler esque music? I don't know, Yeah, but
- 23:38Speaker 2: whistling it. I should have got water before we came
- 23:43Speaker 2: up here. You gotta what I am parched? What Hitler's whistle?
- 23:48Speaker 2: Just come on, that's objectively a good name.
- 23:51Speaker 1: That's not a bad name. Not a bad name, not
- 23:53Speaker 1: a bad name. But and don't worry, I'm not This
- 23:56Speaker 1: isn't the extent of my feelings. This.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not sold jad Adam. I'll play Devil's advocatete.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but everyone who's read this article is pretty much
- 24:06Speaker 1: sold except Patton Oswalt for some reason. Oh my god,
- 24:09Speaker 1: thank you. Yeah, he tweeted it and he said what
- 24:12Speaker 1: he said. I'm still not convinced. It's like, why why not?
- 24:17Speaker 1: Because it's not cool to say you believe a conspiracy theory.
- 24:20Speaker 1: That's not even a conspiracy theory.
- 24:23Speaker 2: It's just me.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Laying out a bunch of really obvious, blatant Nazi imagery
- 24:29Speaker 1: that you can find in several Asa Bass songs. I
- 24:32Speaker 1: guess that doesn't necessarily make them a Nazi band. It
- 24:35Speaker 1: just definitely makes them a Nazi band. So the first
- 24:39Speaker 1: that the name is the first thing that is an
- 24:43Speaker 1: it's an obscure Nazi reference, because I only aside from
- 24:47Speaker 1: the Nazi mega weapons thing, I went looking around for
- 24:50Speaker 1: other examples of this Caramoun facility being referred to as
- 24:54Speaker 1: the base of Aces, and I found it in one
- 24:56Speaker 1: book that I found on Google Books and and everywhere else.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Like it's kind of a low key Nazi reference, exactly
- 25:04Speaker 1: the kind of thing some fuckstick Nazi who thinks he's
- 25:08Speaker 1: smarter than everyone else would figure he could just sneak
- 25:11Speaker 1: by everyone without them knowing. And here's the thing. He
- 25:15Speaker 1: was right, He was right. It did get by everyone.
- 25:19Speaker 1: It was the Ann Frank of band names, but not
- 25:21Speaker 1: this guy. No, I caught it. God damn it, just
- 25:24Speaker 1: in time, something like that's a good band name, just
- 25:28Speaker 1: in time, twenty years after the album, taking a.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Good stage name, just in time, Like.
- 25:33Speaker 1: No, that's I'm sure there's several people with that stage name,
- 25:36Speaker 1: and I hate them all. So that's the first thing.
- 25:39Speaker 1: The name is a fucking Nazi reference. And now let's
- 25:43Speaker 1: talk about Happy Nation for one thing, the album we
- 25:46Speaker 1: all know and love except me. I fucking hated this
- 25:49Speaker 1: band for I don't like this album either, and my
- 25:52Speaker 1: parents had it.
- 25:53Speaker 2: They had this Genesis is Invisible Touch and the Tractors,
- 25:58Speaker 2: I forget the name of the album. I remember those
- 26:00Speaker 2: three CDs being next to each other. Yeah. Luckily Genesis
- 26:03Speaker 2: was my greatest influence of those three.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Fortunately. Yeah, otherwise you'd be irate right now on this podcast.
- 26:10Speaker 2: The Tractors, what was that? Forgot even now? But yeah.
- 26:16Speaker 1: The the album that most people know as The Sign
- 26:20Speaker 1: was actually released in Sweden initially as an album called
- 26:24Speaker 1: Happy Nation, and the song Happy Nation is still on
- 26:28Speaker 1: the version that made its way to the United States,
- 26:32Speaker 1: and the song Happy Nation is one hundred percent a
- 26:36Speaker 1: song about Adolf Hitler, Like they could not be more
- 26:40Speaker 1: obvious about it. For starters, it kicks off, let's listen
- 26:45Speaker 1: to it while we talk. That's a that's an experience.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Let listen the first time. Didn't get this song starts
- 26:55Speaker 1: off with a chant by the former Nazi in the band.
- 27:02Speaker 1: And because it's a weird like mishmash of Latin and Hebrew,
- 27:09Speaker 1: no one's ever like one accurately translated it because you
- 27:12Speaker 1: can't because it's not an actual language.
- 27:14Speaker 2: He's like throwing a bunch of shit together.
- 27:16Speaker 1: But among the translations out there, it's usually a variation
- 27:21Speaker 1: of this, on the wings of the eagle, with God's help,
- 27:26Speaker 1: I was.
- 27:27Speaker 2: There before everyone. In the meantime, I will kill you.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I was there before everyone, So on the wings of
- 27:35Speaker 1: an egle, on the wings of an eagle. You say
- 27:39Speaker 1: that's and a Nazi. I mean it also says I
- 27:43Speaker 1: will kill you, which is ominous, but.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Okay, I have to pause it. Let's this is the
- 27:56Speaker 2: that man nazis wanting to get every rid of everyone
- 27:59Speaker 2: to have more of yikes. Yeah, exactly.
- 28:02Speaker 1: This is that opening verse, which is actually the chorus
- 28:06Speaker 1: happy Nation, living in a happy nation where people understand
- 28:11Speaker 1: and dream of the perfect man, a situation leading to
- 28:16Speaker 1: sweet salvation for the people, for the cook, for the good,
- 28:21Speaker 1: for the mankind brotherhood. If I'm not mistaken, the Nazis
- 28:26Speaker 1: did have some interest in creating the perfect man, actually
- 28:31Speaker 1: the perfect race.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Of Marian race. Yeah, remember when they were called aryan
- 28:36Speaker 2: ace of baise known.
- 28:38Speaker 1: But that's that's at least sounds suspicious because why else
- 28:44Speaker 1: is a Sabasse a band whose name is a Nazi
- 28:48Speaker 1: reference and was founded by a dude who was in
- 28:51Speaker 1: a Nazi band. Why are they like you gotta stack it, baby,
- 28:55Speaker 1: stack it all up. Throw this that that in the
- 28:59Speaker 1: opening they won on the wings of an eagle, but
- 29:02Speaker 1: also perfect man, like that is a Nazi ideal.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Stack it on top of your conspiracy. Stack it sack
- 29:10Speaker 2: for conspiracy. Is this is a Nazi cheeseburger. And you're
- 29:13Speaker 2: starting with nothing, but you've given us the bread, and
- 29:16Speaker 2: now you've thrown some lettuce and tomato on that bread.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Right, And there's more in the song happy Nation, give
- 29:23Speaker 1: us that mayo, because there's there's the dream of the
- 29:25Speaker 1: perfect man bit, which you can argue with me about
- 29:28Speaker 1: what that could mean otherwise. But I will not fucking
- 29:31Speaker 1: believe you. And this is the second verse, ideas by
- 29:35Speaker 1: man and only that will last. And over time we've
- 29:40Speaker 1: turned to the past that no man's fit to rule
- 29:43Speaker 1: the world alone. A man will die, but not his ideas.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Can you think of a man who tried to rule
- 29:49Speaker 1: the world alone at any point that a band founded
- 29:54Speaker 1: by a Nazi whose name is a Nazi reference, who
- 29:58Speaker 1: just sang about building the perfect man? Can you think
- 30:02Speaker 1: of a leader who tried any of that?
- 30:05Speaker 2: Seems like you have sported some male on those buts
- 30:08Speaker 2: what Oh, this bit's killing it. And here's the thing.
- 30:14Speaker 1: It gets that part gets even fucking worse because I
- 30:18Speaker 1: understand if you're like, no, I want to give you.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I'm still going to give this band the benefit of
- 30:22Speaker 1: the doubt for some reason. Chat, I want you to
- 30:25Speaker 1: direct your attention to the TV screen and tell me
- 30:28Speaker 1: if you can see what flies through the air when
- 30:30Speaker 1: she says a man might die, but not his ideas.
- 30:33Speaker 2: It's very quick. Origin Species, Original Species.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Yes, what it actually says is on the Origin of
- 30:46Speaker 1: Species by Charles Darwin.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Which was a book, which was a book that title
- 30:52Speaker 2: seems cruncated. Here's the full title, chat on the Origin
- 30:56Speaker 2: of Species by means of natural selection or the Preservation
- 31:01Speaker 2: of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life?
- 31:05Speaker 1: Why is that in an Asa basis any other text?
- 31:10Speaker 1: That is the only fucking book title that pops up
- 31:14Speaker 1: in this video videos a fucking Nazi. I have no idea,
- 31:21Speaker 1: but like, I feel like I could stop there because
- 31:25Speaker 1: we have founded by a former Nazi. You got bread,
- 31:29Speaker 1: got the bread, the band, the band name, potential Nazi reference.
- 31:35Speaker 1: I'll even just say potential. You got the the Wings
- 31:38Speaker 1: of the Eagle and the Perfect Man Mayo, which come
- 31:41Speaker 1: right in the beginning of the song. And then then
- 31:45Speaker 1: you have the verse about how one man can't rule
- 31:48Speaker 1: the world and he might die, but his ideas won't.
- 31:51Speaker 1: And as soon as she says his ideas won't, a
- 31:54Speaker 1: book about the preservation of favored races pops off in
- 31:59Speaker 1: the ski and chat. That book is one of the
- 32:04Speaker 1: books that Adolf Hitler based the Nazi ideology off of.
- 32:09Speaker 1: That's one of the tragic things about that book because
- 32:11Speaker 1: it's not a racist book. It's dealing with like evolution
- 32:16Speaker 1: basically people positive things. Yeah that people interpret it for
- 32:21Speaker 1: their own gains. Well, that sounds to me like two
- 32:24Speaker 1: pieces of chiefe. They're adam right, give me that hamburger.
- 32:28Speaker 1: You want that hamburger. Che are getting really uncomfortable with this,
- 32:31Speaker 1: but it's fine, we'll keep going. So so there's that,
- 32:35Speaker 1: there's Happy Nation. There's the fact that the album title
- 32:38Speaker 1: was changed from Happy Nation to the Sign because maybe
- 32:42Speaker 1: people in the US would have seen Happy Nation and
- 32:44Speaker 1: been like.
- 32:44Speaker 2: What Now that I would say is the weakest point
- 32:47Speaker 2: of your arguments.
- 32:48Speaker 1: It's not okay, but it's also not one of my points.
- 32:52Speaker 1: I didn't like put it in the notes here, but
- 32:55Speaker 1: it was.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Read the article. But but okay, I won't after you
- 33:00Speaker 2: on that point. Then well, no, what what? Just the
- 33:04Speaker 2: Americans are dumb? So you just named the fucking album
- 33:06Speaker 2: what the popular song is? Yeah?
- 33:08Speaker 1: And also the Sign isn't on the version that was
- 33:11Speaker 1: released in Sweden, So yeah, that's fine. So now let's
- 33:16Speaker 1: talk about all that she wants. Because this album had
- 33:19Speaker 1: three big singles, the Sign, which there's so much going
- 33:23Speaker 1: on in that video.
- 33:24Speaker 2: I don't that's like alien Nazis.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I don't know what the fuck is happening in that video,
- 33:29Speaker 1: and their other big single, was Don't turn Around, which
- 33:34Speaker 1: is a Tina Turner cover, so probably not a lot
- 33:36Speaker 1: of Nazi references in that. But then there's All that
- 33:39Speaker 1: She Wants No go, let's hear it. I need to
- 33:43Speaker 1: hear it.
- 33:44Speaker 2: The Ike Turner actually wrote the lyrics true story, I
- 33:49Speaker 2: can't can't make abuse jokes like that was good.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Check yeah, because he'll hit you in the face because
- 34:00Speaker 1: he's like Turner man.
- 34:04Speaker 2: So the other single, All that She Wants.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Is a baby and the band what have you believe?
- 34:13Speaker 1: This song is about a woman who just sleeps around
- 34:16Speaker 1: and doesn't want to like, she doesn't want to have
- 34:20Speaker 1: a boyfriend. She wants to have a lot of boyfriends.
- 34:22Speaker 1: But if you look at the lyrics, it's a lot more.
- 34:27Speaker 1: It sounds a lot more like a woman who doesn't
- 34:31Speaker 1: want to work and wants to have a baby so
- 34:34Speaker 1: she doesn't have to work. And this is the first verse.
- 34:38Speaker 1: When she woke up late in the morning light and
- 34:40Speaker 1: the day had just begun, she opened up her eyes
- 34:43Speaker 1: and thought, oh what a morning. It's not a day
- 34:45Speaker 1: for work, It's a day for catching tan, just laying
- 34:49Speaker 1: on the beach and having fun.
- 34:51Speaker 2: She's going to get you now. The Nazis tan, because
- 34:54Speaker 2: that would take away from your whiteness. To what degree
- 34:57Speaker 2: is it acceptable for a Nazi? I'm as like, to
- 35:01Speaker 2: what shade of white? How many shades down? There were
- 35:03Speaker 2: some pretty tan Nazis.
- 35:05Speaker 1: A lot of them worked out like outdoors and took
- 35:08Speaker 1: their shirts off and things, showed off their big Nazi chests.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I mean, they were like the worker bees. All the
- 35:13Speaker 1: higher ups stayed inside and got all pasty white. But
- 35:16Speaker 1: there were some tan Nazis, but no one's deliberately getting
- 35:19Speaker 1: But also this, this person in the song isn't a Nazi.
- 35:23Speaker 1: They're singing about a Jewish person. And if you're wondering, well,
- 35:29Speaker 1: any jew, If you're wondering, like, how would you assume
- 35:33Speaker 1: that the person in this song is Jewish? It's because
- 35:37Speaker 1: in the first fifteen seconds of the video for All
- 35:40Speaker 1: That She Wants, they just show the woman they're singing
- 35:44Speaker 1: about stroking a necklace. That's just a bunch of star
- 35:47Speaker 1: of David's why why in the video for the song
- 35:54Speaker 1: about a woman who just wants to get pregnant and
- 35:58Speaker 1: live off society, a welfare queen if you will, Which
- 36:01Speaker 1: that alone, that idea is some right wing shit like
- 36:06Speaker 1: only the most right wing types actually think that stereotype
- 36:10Speaker 1: is a real thing. Like there are select cases of
- 36:14Speaker 1: welfare fraud, just like there are select cases of bank
- 36:18Speaker 1: fraud in the world. It doesn't make everyone who has
- 36:21Speaker 1: a bank account a bank fraud person. And so just
- 36:26Speaker 1: the idea of that, and I get that they're you know,
- 36:29Speaker 1: their excuses. Oh no, that's not what it's about. Then
- 36:31Speaker 1: why all the star of David's in the beginning of
- 36:34Speaker 1: the video.
- 36:34Speaker 2: The other show I have with that music video is
- 36:36Speaker 2: once she goes to get in a tanning bed, they
- 36:38Speaker 2: call it a tanning oven. Don't know what that's about.
- 36:43Speaker 1: And so let's in this video. I'll make it full
- 36:48Speaker 1: screen just so you don't miss it.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Chat here we go.
- 36:51Speaker 1: We are six seconds in, I see it lots of
- 36:54Speaker 1: lots of Nazis or not, lots of Jewish stars. And
- 37:00Speaker 1: thirteen seconds in they make it a little more clear,
- 37:03Speaker 1: so you can very clearly see that these are a
- 37:05Speaker 1: bunch of six pointed stars on a chain that the
- 37:09Speaker 1: woman they're singing about either just being of loose moral
- 37:15Speaker 1: character or being a drain on society.
- 37:18Speaker 2: She won't even hold that guy's arm. She's that's because
- 37:22Speaker 2: she's she's a Jew chat.
- 37:26Speaker 3: And I would if you're if you're listening to this
- 37:31Speaker 3: and you're still on the fence again, let's let's let's
- 37:36Speaker 3: stack it up.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Let's stack it up.
- 37:38Speaker 1: We have a former Nazi founds a band, or we
- 37:43Speaker 1: assume we assume he's a former Nazi. He did not
- 37:47Speaker 1: disavow any of this shit until that Vice article came out.
- 37:50Speaker 1: So a Nazi starts a band, a band whose name
- 37:55Speaker 1: is a Nazi reference. They have a song called Happy
- 38:01Speaker 1: Nation that is just littered with Nazi references, including the
- 38:06Speaker 1: name of the book Hitler in part based mind comp
- 38:09Speaker 1: on flying through the Air when they say a man
- 38:12Speaker 1: will die but not his ideas. And then there's this
- 38:17Speaker 1: a song about At best, it's about a just a
- 38:22Speaker 1: loose woman who shouldn't be trusted, Like they say, I'm
- 38:25Speaker 1: she's going to get you so many times in this song.
- 38:28Speaker 2: So it's at least if she's loose, you have a
- 38:30Speaker 2: chance to escape. Oh my god.
- 38:37Speaker 1: So at best the song is about that. At worst
- 38:39Speaker 1: it's about a woman who is a drain on society.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Which does that rhetoric sound familiar students of Nazi Germany
- 38:49Speaker 1: or of the current students of Nazi America and then
- 38:54Speaker 1: to cap all of that off twice in the first
- 38:57Speaker 1: thirteen seconds in this video. They cannot stress enough that
- 39:03Speaker 1: this unsavory woman they're singing about is also Jewish. Why
- 39:09Speaker 1: why was that so important to this video? Because it's not.
- 39:14Speaker 1: I actually when I wrote the article, I was like,
- 39:17Speaker 1: oh shit, yeah, you see it twice there. If you
- 39:20Speaker 1: watch the whole video, the chick is just holding the
- 39:23Speaker 1: thing up in the background the whole fucking time. So
- 39:27Speaker 1: when you take all of that together, if they aren't
- 39:31Speaker 1: a Nazi band, then why why is all of that
- 39:36Speaker 1: in this Ace of Bass album? And there's other shit
- 39:39Speaker 1: on that. They have a song called the Eyes of
- 39:41Speaker 1: a Stranger, which sounds a lot like don't let strangers
- 39:44Speaker 1: into your country because the chorus is like I see
- 39:47Speaker 1: danger in the eyes of a stranger.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Sorry, I can't stop smirking. But look at how many
- 39:51Speaker 2: thumbs down this video as six. I know you're gonna
- 39:58Speaker 2: get magnets like why is he grinny like an idiot?
- 40:02Speaker 2: Forty nine million views?
- 40:05Speaker 1: Six nine nice? Ah man, so nice like sixty nine
- 40:11Speaker 1: and with a period what gross gross at?
- 40:18Speaker 2: So yeah, we'll take it seriously. But yeah, and that. Yeah,
- 40:23Speaker 2: I think you got a burger there, you got a
- 40:24Speaker 2: Nazi burger. Yeah.
- 40:26Speaker 1: I just there's you know, there's other things you can
- 40:28Speaker 1: listen to on the album. The song Eyes of a
- 40:30Speaker 1: Stranger does sound like some xenophobic anti immigration shit. But
- 40:35Speaker 1: even if every other song is just Tina Turner covers
- 40:38Speaker 1: in fucking lighthearted dance stuff, why is all this Nazi
- 40:43Speaker 1: shit in the rest of the album.
- 40:45Speaker 2: You're the one you're really missing. I saw the sign
- 40:48Speaker 2: the signs of fucking twastika, but not if I had
- 40:54Speaker 2: some very compelling evidence, that would be great. But in
- 40:58Speaker 2: the video it's not unfortunate. But I assume there's some
- 41:01Speaker 2: reference you're not catching. There has to be referenced. Well,
- 41:04Speaker 2: let's watch it quick.
- 41:05Speaker 1: It's because it is a weird video and there are
- 41:07Speaker 1: a lot of strange signs. You said, that's the like
- 41:10Speaker 1: flying Nazi thing flying around in the air. To me,
- 41:14Speaker 1: all the ace of bass hits, like the three radio songs,
- 41:17Speaker 1: they all sound the same to me, like they're interchange.
- 41:19Speaker 2: They're all trash.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I just hated as of bass. Oh they're emerging from
- 41:24Speaker 1: the dark. None of them play instrument.
- 41:29Speaker 2: See. Yeah, so many quick changes. I swear the dude
- 41:42Speaker 2: just gave a Nazi salute too. This video show.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know what sign is flying through the
- 41:53Speaker 1: air in this song, but yeah, you have to break
- 41:55Speaker 1: this dump frame by frame, but there is something hidden here.
- 41:58Speaker 2: What's that flag? They're just for no reason? She see?
- 42:02Speaker 2: That's that's the thing. Now.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Every time I see Asa Bass, I'm like, what Nazis
- 42:06Speaker 1: shit are they doing?
- 42:12Speaker 2: This song is upbeat side side many.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Can we just get it right out of the way
- 42:30Speaker 1: that if they're gonna jettison anyone from their society, it
- 42:34Speaker 1: needs to be that second singer.
- 42:36Speaker 2: What the fuck is she doing there?
- 42:37Speaker 1: Not because she doesn't even have blonde hair, but where
- 42:41Speaker 1: do you belong?
- 42:42Speaker 2: Israel?
- 42:42Speaker 1: Perhaps wants to know? Uh, don't you turn that hand? Sir?
- 42:50Speaker 2: Okay, fuck these motherfuckers. Yeah.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I watched the video for the sign. I couldn't find
- 42:55Speaker 1: anything weird in it. But there's also a lot of
- 42:57Speaker 1: symbols in that video that I don't understand, and it
- 43:01Speaker 1: seems like the one they show the most is like
- 43:04Speaker 1: a kind of a mishmash of two different symbols. So
- 43:08Speaker 1: who fucking knows, But it doesn't The sign doesn't have
- 43:11Speaker 1: to be a Nazi fucking song.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Have you gone out and done PR on this, like
- 43:15Speaker 2: you should be on some publicity blitz like on all
- 43:18Speaker 2: the shows talking about this. I don't know.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I've thought of like trying to reach out to some
- 43:22Speaker 1: other podcasts to see if it could be a thing
- 43:23Speaker 1: like NPR come talk talk about.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Who knows.
- 43:27Speaker 1: We'll see, But for now, if anyone listening to Conspiracy
- 43:31Speaker 1: the podcast right now would like or Conspiracy the show,
- 43:34Speaker 1: I forget what it's called.
- 43:35Speaker 2: I only do it every week.
- 43:37Speaker 1: If anyone would like to spread this around and tell
- 43:40Speaker 1: people that you saw the sign and it opened up
- 43:43Speaker 1: your eyes, and your eyes saw another sign that said
- 43:47Speaker 1: Asa Bassis a bunch of fucking Nazis.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I always thought the lyric was I saw the sign,
- 43:51Speaker 2: It opened up my eyes sixty nine? What no, oh, no,
- 43:55Speaker 2: it's another sixty nine. That's what I always we are
- 43:59Speaker 2: getting them in so.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Like the mouth parts, that's my ASA base conspiracy. This
- 44:08Speaker 1: is like the second episode I've done where it's just
- 44:11Speaker 1: a conspiracy on my own baby.
- 44:13Speaker 2: What was the other one? Uh?
- 44:15Speaker 1: I am of the belief that Baseball, at least if
- 44:18Speaker 1: they didn't manufacture the steroid scandal, they at least encouraged
- 44:22Speaker 1: it because they knew they were gonna have to discredit
- 44:25Speaker 1: Barry Bonds somehow. Why because they knew he was going
- 44:28Speaker 1: to break the home run record. And everyone in baseball
- 44:31Speaker 1: fucking hates Barry Bonds because Barry Bonds is a dick,
- 44:35Speaker 1: but he's also inarguably the greatest baseball player of all time.
- 44:41Speaker 2: It's loose. It's not because he was black.
- 44:43Speaker 1: It's probably partly that, but a lot of it has
- 44:47Speaker 1: to do with him just being an asshole who like,
- 44:49Speaker 1: he didn't care about talking to the media, he didn't
- 44:51Speaker 1: care about signing autographs. He was just like, can I
- 44:54Speaker 1: just fucking play baseball and go home? And they didn't
- 44:58Speaker 1: like that. He's not a marketable person. How many even
- 45:01Speaker 1: before the steroid scandal, how many fucking endorsement deals do
- 45:06Speaker 1: you remember Barry Bonds having? How many commercials do you
- 45:08Speaker 1: remember him being in? None because people fucking hated Barry.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I remember the Simpsons softball episode. That's not the same thing,
- 45:16Speaker 1: And that was probably after the Barry Bonds thing, wasn't it.
- 45:19Speaker 2: No, that was before? When did it? When was the
- 45:21Speaker 2: Simpsons episode? It had to have been mid middle mid
- 45:25Speaker 2: late nineties, But I think middle nineties.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Really that's cooler anyway. So that's that's my Those are
- 45:32Speaker 1: my feelings on ASA base. I don't even like to
- 45:34Speaker 1: call it a conspiracy theory. I just want you all
- 45:38Speaker 1: to know we bought twenty five million copies of a
- 45:41Speaker 1: Nazi album in the United States.
- 45:43Speaker 2: I thought it was only nine million in the United.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Oh, that's right, nine million in the United States. Twenty
- 45:47Speaker 1: five million worldwide, but nine million in the US. That's
- 45:51Speaker 1: that's that's not nothing.
- 45:53Speaker 2: So what you're saying is one out of every six
- 45:55Speaker 2: people who voted for Trump. Wait how many elections votes
- 45:58Speaker 2: to get trying to do the math. I don't fucking know
- 46:02Speaker 2: who cares. And yeah, it like like it came out
- 46:05Speaker 2: right on the when grunge was really a thing. People
- 46:09Speaker 2: needed anything.
- 46:10Speaker 1: That people Everything on the radio is so fucking sad five, six, seven,
- 46:15Speaker 1: eight years before fastball will give you the way and
- 46:18Speaker 1: think about it though. That's kind of how Nazism takes
- 46:21Speaker 1: hold in a country.
- 46:23Speaker 2: People just need something different.
- 46:24Speaker 1: People are so like in Nazi Germany, it was that
- 46:30Speaker 1: people were so fucking broken by what happened after World
- 46:33Speaker 1: War One and then the stock market crash in the
- 46:37Speaker 1: United States happens, which fucking res Germany's economy and everyone
- 46:41Speaker 1: is just living in misery, and they're like, fuck, okay,
- 46:44Speaker 1: we'll we'll try out this different thing, even though it's
- 46:47Speaker 1: very different from what we normally like. And in the
- 46:50Speaker 1: United States it was you know, rural people who were like,
- 46:55Speaker 1: no politician ever fucking listens to us, and we're all
- 46:58Speaker 1: dying of opioids and we need our old jobs back
- 47:01Speaker 1: and try.
- 47:01Speaker 2: I like that guy in the TV show.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and then Trump shows up and goes, hey, I
- 47:06Speaker 1: know I just hosted a reality show and went bankrupt
- 47:08Speaker 1: a bunch of times, But how about me? And they
- 47:11Speaker 1: were like, fine, how about you? And now we have
- 47:14Speaker 1: to hopefully kick a Nazi out of office or become
- 47:18Speaker 1: Nazi point two point zero.
- 47:21Speaker 2: And hey, listen the Nazis or armbands that were red
- 47:26Speaker 2: and white. Yeah, Trump supporters, red hats. Very different, very
- 47:34Speaker 2: very different, very different, and yeah with asa bass. Like
- 47:38Speaker 2: the state of popular music at the time was a
- 47:41Speaker 2: lot of fucking sullen Nirvana grunge type shit, even though
- 47:47Speaker 2: Nirvana was like far and away the most upbeat of
- 47:49Speaker 2: those bands. But and people were just like, please, can
- 47:54Speaker 2: we dance to something? And what they got was a
- 47:58Speaker 2: fucking Nazi album and they were like, fine, we're not
- 48:01Speaker 2: even listening to these lyrics.
- 48:03Speaker 1: And they sold nine million copies of a Nazi album
- 48:05Speaker 1: in the United States. It's impressive.
- 48:08Speaker 2: What happened to the band.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I mean, they're still like around. They were gonna do
- 48:12Speaker 1: a reunion at one point, like, I don't know.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Let's trick him on the pod. Uh. I don't feel
- 48:17Speaker 2: like it's that far fetched. We tried that at Cracked.
- 48:20Speaker 1: We wanted to sit this dude down for an interview
- 48:23Speaker 1: and he wasn't going for it.
- 48:25Speaker 2: But it was with the context of you're a Nazi.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Uh No, I don't think so. What if I start
- 48:29Speaker 2: a campaign to get them to play my living room? No,
- 48:32Speaker 2: and over time I earned their trust to at least
- 48:35Speaker 2: come on the pod. No, we're just gonna get this
- 48:37Speaker 2: information out there.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Everyone tell all your friends Asa Bass was a Nazi
