SPEAKER_00: I am Mickey, your host, and joining me today is Bethany, our co-host, and we are going to be diving into a completely different topic from what we've been talking about the past few weeks.

SPEAKER_00: But before we start doing that, Bethany and just want to kind of share a little bit about what we do on the backlog.

SPEAKER_00: So not just podcasting and sharing the word of God.

SPEAKER_00: We both are actually coaches.

SPEAKER_00: That's my other podcast as well.

SPEAKER_00: And with Crushing Strongholds, it's basically a coaching program where I help individuals that feel stuck from their abandonment, their rejection issues, their depression, anxiety, and maybe abuse or past trauma or even self-identity.

SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we get stuck in our strongholds and we can't seem to get any further.

SPEAKER_00: And when we get stuck like that, I don't know if you know this or not, but when you stay stuck and you're sitting in that dark pit, you really are not given your full potential to God's given purpose on your life.

SPEAKER_00: And it's important that if you don't know what that purpose is because you're too busy being stuck behind the things that are holding you back, that you're missing out on so much of the life that God actually ordained for your life.

SPEAKER_00: And so with the coaching program that I offer, um, it's a one-on-one coaching program.

SPEAKER_00: I also do group group coaching programs, but the one-on-one program basically, um, I design the program around each person individually.

SPEAKER_00: That means you have to step up and you have to step out, and you have to want to, you have to want and desire the purpose that God has on your life.

SPEAKER_00: So if you have something holding you back today, anything, it could be, like I said, abandonment, um, rejection, uh, depression or anxiety, and um, maybe you're struggling with some past relationship abuse, or even um something traumatic that happened in your life, or even um, again, self-identity.

SPEAKER_01: And so what my coaching program is is called Anchored in Hope.

SPEAKER_01: And it's for those especially who are dealing with any sort of emotional trauma, and I start out with helping Christians understand what the source of emotional trauma is, because if we don't understand the source, then we won't have a correct view of God, and so there has to be an understanding, I believe, that we all have the same ultimate enemy, and that is Satan.

SPEAKER_01: Satan does not want anyone to be in close relationship with God, and so even though emotional trauma happens, no one has to stay in the grip of it.

SPEAKER_01: And so I hope people be set free, not because of who I am, but because of who God is, and power, all power belongs to him.

SPEAKER_01: There's never any amount of power that does not belong to God, and so we can stand firm on that and um truly be set free to live a life here of abundance, we don't just have to wait for eternity, we can live abundantly here on earth as well.

SPEAKER_00: So today's message, we are going to be talking about testing the spirits.

SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you are aware, but there are supernatural spirits in the realm.

SPEAKER_00: God is supernatural.

SPEAKER_00: I mean, do you uh do you see God in front of you right at this moment?

SPEAKER_00: You do not.

SPEAKER_00: Why?

SPEAKER_00: Because he is everywhere, he's omnipotent, he's he's literally everywhere.

SPEAKER_00: And why is that?

SPEAKER_00: Because it's the supernatural.

SPEAKER_00: And the enemy also operates in the supernatural, and the enemy loves to bring chaos and confusion.

SPEAKER_00: And he wants to keep you in a stuck position, he wants to keep you confused, he wants to break relationships, as Bethany mentioned earlier.

SPEAKER_00: He wants to tear down anything that is a good, by the way.

SPEAKER_00: God is good.

SPEAKER_00: The enemy is what wants to break down all of the goodness that God has for our life.

SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna dive into um first John 4.

SPEAKER_00: Um, so if you're reading a different version, it may read a little differently than what what we are reading.

SPEAKER_00: Um, let's do the first two scriptures.

SPEAKER_01: So first John 4, verse 1.

SPEAKER_01: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

SPEAKER_01: Hereby know we know ye.

SPEAKER_01: Hereby know ye.

SPEAKER_01: The spirit of God.

SPEAKER_01: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.

SPEAKER_00: Those two scriptures are very, very powerful.

SPEAKER_00: Why would we why would we want to test the spirits?

SPEAKER_00: We are human beings, and we're not always 100% accurate, we're not always 100% truthful, um, because we live in a world where it's just how we are.

SPEAKER_00: We're created kind of this way.

SPEAKER_00: But when we think about um testing the spirits and many false prophets, that there are many the prophets that are out in the world, we need to be careful because they have been misled and misguided through um evil spirits or wrong teachings or other beliefs in other gods.

SPEAKER_00: So that could be another entity where um there's false prophets.

SPEAKER_00: So we need to be very mindful and very careful.

SPEAKER_00: And here's the thing: it is okay, always, and I really want to emphasize this if you're not sure of something, take it to the Word of God and see if it lines up.

SPEAKER_00: Always do that.

SPEAKER_00: If you get in the habit of doing that, you're gonna start seeing more light than you will the darkness, because God's truth is nothing but the light.

SPEAKER_00: So when we get distorted and we get compiled and we all of this stuff that that that we have that's told to us and in our news media, social media, um, even in our churches sometimes, unfortunately, even in the churches, sometimes pastors um they bring a good message.

SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying the message isn't good, but you want to make sure it's really lining up to the truth and the word of God.

SPEAKER_00: Because it's really easy for the enemy to be distractive and can give you thoughts in your head, and you think, oh, this is what the scripture is.

SPEAKER_00: And it it could be wrong.

SPEAKER_00: It could be it could be incorrect, and it can get being misinformed or um not even illustrated in the correct manner.

SPEAKER_00: So we have to be careful because sometimes even when I watch the news or watch TV and they're talking about something, they're saying one thing and doing another thing, and that's a just that's a distraction manner.

SPEAKER_00: That happens all through our our news and our our politics.

SPEAKER_00: They will say one thing while showing you another thing, and that's to to cause confusion.

SPEAKER_00: They want you to believe something that's really not true, so they're gonna tell you something while showing you something different, because that causes your mind to go, you know, what's going on.

SPEAKER_00: So we need to be testing the spirits.

SPEAKER_00: There are many false prophets, it says, that are out in the world.

SPEAKER_00: Many.

SPEAKER_00: So that means we need to be careful and mindful, and we need to be watchmen.

SPEAKER_00: There's scripture that talks about us being watchmen.

SPEAKER_00: So, and then when it talks about um, we need to know this, we need to know the spirit of God.

SPEAKER_00: How do you know the spirit of God?

SPEAKER_00: Well, you read the word of God.

SPEAKER_00: That's why you're supposed to take everything to the word of God to see if it matches up.

SPEAKER_00: Because some people are like, well, how do I know if it's the spirit of God or spirit of something else?

SPEAKER_00: Does it line up with the word of God in the Bible?

SPEAKER_00: Is it hogwash or is it, you know, is it is it is it biblical?

SPEAKER_00: We want to keep everything on a biblical principle level.

SPEAKER_00: We don't want to get it distorted.

SPEAKER_00: So, Bethany, would you like to read um verses three and four?

SPEAKER_01: All right, verse three.

SPEAKER_01: And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God, and this is that spirit of Antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come, and even now already is in the world.

SPEAKER_01: Ye are God, little children, and have overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.

SPEAKER_00: That's a great scripture.

SPEAKER_00: We need to be very careful because I know we're living in the end times, and there's a lot of talk of antichrist, antichrist all over the news.

SPEAKER_00: The antichrist um is somebody that does not believe that Jesus Christ came to this earth and died, you know, in the flesh for for our sins, for our Savior.

SPEAKER_00: That's what the Antichrist that Christ is, is somebody that is non-believing in Jesus Christ and for and what he did for all of humanity.

SPEAKER_00: So we need to be very careful.

SPEAKER_00: You could talk to many, many people.

SPEAKER_00: They'll say, Oh, I believe in God, but they don't believe in Jesus.

SPEAKER_00: They don't believe in Jesus at all.

SPEAKER_00: That's antichristism.

SPEAKER_00: They do not believe, they're non-believers.

SPEAKER_00: So if you're a non-believer and you're listening, I hope that you understand.

SPEAKER_00: We're not trying to bash anyone here just because we're sharing knowledge.

SPEAKER_00: Um we want to encourage you because when we're talking about all of the antichrists, and there's many antichrists in the world, there's not just one, there's many.

SPEAKER_00: Um, if you think about the enemy, one third of the angels were was sent down with with him.

SPEAKER_00: They all had the same thought that that the enemy had, um, which was Lucifer.

SPEAKER_00: And when he was sent down here, those that those one-third of angels, those are all antichrist beings in the supernatural.

SPEAKER_00: And they're roaming the earth.

SPEAKER_00: And they're full they're filling people's heads and thoughts and minds with things such as Jesus Christ is isn't real, it isn't true.

SPEAKER_00: Don't you can't believe in that.

SPEAKER_00: We don't want to we don't want to adhere to that.

SPEAKER_00: We need to be very, very careful with that.

SPEAKER_00: Um, I like it when it talks about um ye are of God little children and have overcome them.

SPEAKER_00: I why do you suppose he's he brings out the little children?

SPEAKER_00: Little children aren't aware of all of the travesties in the world.

SPEAKER_00: They say it as they see it.

SPEAKER_00: You know, I don't know if you've ever heard that show, the kids say the darndest things.

SPEAKER_00: I think Bill Crosby did that show years ago or whatever.

SPEAKER_00: Someone did that show because it's true, kids, kids don't have a filtration system.

SPEAKER_00: They will say literally what they think and what they honestly believe.

SPEAKER_00: And I believe that that has a little bit of part to this because, and that's and and that's why they can overcome, because they're not so wrapped up in it like we are as adults, or once we start getting into the world and we start getting all of this stuff that's coming at us from the world, that it gets overwhelming.

SPEAKER_00: So I think that that that's pertaining to a little bit of that.

SPEAKER_00: But it says, but because greater is he that is in you, that is in the world.

SPEAKER_00: Remember, we didn't start out as adults.

SPEAKER_00: We started out as children.

SPEAKER_00: We are children of Christ.

SPEAKER_00: We are chill, we are a child of the king, the highest king.

SPEAKER_00: We all started out like children.

SPEAKER_00: What happened is when we grew up and we started learning stuff and we started seeing stuff and we started getting more out into the world.

SPEAKER_00: We had more people coming to us.

SPEAKER_00: We didn't just have mommy and daddy or whoever raises telling us what to do or how to live, or you know, or even our church going to Sunday school.

SPEAKER_00: We've got the whole entire world now feeding us information that can be very confusing and bring a lot of chaos to your life.

SPEAKER_00: You've got to be careful if you're not testing the spirits, because it could lead you astray.

SPEAKER_00: That's why it says choose the narrow path, not the not the road that is wide.

SPEAKER_00: And the reason why they say that is because a lot of people are on the wide path because they have listened to lies of the enemy.

SPEAKER_00: Most things that that are are spoken widely like that are usually lies, and you got to be really careful of that.

SPEAKER_00: So, Bethany, what do you want to say about um these four scriptures?

SPEAKER_00: What what what um is your input that you would like to share?

SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I these are so rich.

SPEAKER_01: So there I think there's literally so much meat to them.

SPEAKER_01: And one thing that has stood out to me, especially now, as I'm verbally reading this, and you know, as I've read it before, to understand that when this was written, Paul was saying this stuff.

SPEAKER_01: And so I think nowadays we may miss just how long ago, just how long this has been going on, and when I think when we really understand that and understand that back in this day when these verses were written, you didn't have all the modern technology that you do now.

SPEAKER_01: You didn't have all the advancements you do now, and so since Paul wrote this back then, how much more today is it vital for us to realize and recognize that we we do ourselves a disservice if we don't obey what it says here and try the spirits and I that's just personally very convicting to me to since I understand.

SPEAKER_01: No, the times it was different then than it is today.

SPEAKER_01: And so how much more important is it for us to be trying the spirits and not just freely accepting?

SPEAKER_01: Because Satan is so subtle.

SPEAKER_01: And we we have to be grounded in the word of God as the word of God says.

SPEAKER_01: And as we've even said on this episode, individually, we have to be searching the scriptures so that we have a grounding, so that we're not tossed to and fro.

SPEAKER_01: And so that that's just one of my observations from these verses.

SPEAKER_01: Um and so that's what I would encourage listeners, study for yourself so that you can discern correctly.

SPEAKER_01: Because what is in the Bible is true, there's no falsehood anywhere in the Bible.

SPEAKER_01: But the falsehood happens when misinterpretation happens, and so that would be for another episode.

SPEAKER_01: But that's that's just my um takeaway from these verses.

SPEAKER_00: So I wanted another verse came to me while we while you were talking in that manner, um, and it's Matthew 24.

SPEAKER_00: Let's turn there real quick.

SPEAKER_00: It wasn't a scripture that we were gonna talk to talk about today, but um it's just um coming to me that and this is Jesus talking.

SPEAKER_00: It's Matthew 24 4, and it says, And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

SPEAKER_00: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and shall deceive many, and ye shall hear wars and rumors of wars, see that ye not be troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

SPEAKER_00: For the nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pesticides or pestilence and earthquakes and divers and places.

SPEAKER_00: All these are of the beginning of sorrow.

SPEAKER_00: Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated by hated of all the nations for my name's sake.

SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing.

SPEAKER_00: What as believers in Jesus Christ, we are going to be, we are going to be tested as Christians to see if we can be deceived.

SPEAKER_00: So there's a flip coin to this that I don't know why why this is coming to me right now, but there's a flip to this.

SPEAKER_00: So as much as we're supposed to test the spirits, people are gonna test us if we're walking in the spirit.

SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna, if we're not walking in the spirit, guess what's gonna happen?

SPEAKER_00: We are gonna, as Christians, we are gonna be the ones that are deceived because we're not taking everything in account to the Word of God.

SPEAKER_00: And it says, you know, this is gonna happen.

SPEAKER_00: Nations are gonna rise against nations.

SPEAKER_00: This is already happening, by the way, right now.

SPEAKER_00: This actually is already happening.

SPEAKER_00: There are rumors of wars, and wars are already happening.

SPEAKER_00: There are famines and pestilence and earthquakes and and and and diverse places.

SPEAKER_00: You know, and these are the beginning of the sorrow.

SPEAKER_00: We can see it, it's very visible with everything that's happening in the world.

SPEAKER_00: And more so than it's ever been before.

SPEAKER_00: I hear people say, oh, well, that we've had earthquakes before, we've had storms before, we've had wars before.

SPEAKER_00: Um we've never had the third temple being built, we've never had the heifer, you know, sacrifice yet.

SPEAKER_00: We never had um people, I'm gonna be careful how I say this because it's because it's um public, but we never had people um pretend to be Christ like like they are nowadays.

SPEAKER_00: Okay, we need to be very, very vigilant and paying attention because I guaranteeing you that the Bible is correct when it says Christians will be deceived.

SPEAKER_00: We will not be deceived if you are testing the spirits yourself.

SPEAKER_00: This is a protection that God offers us.

SPEAKER_00: Paul is telling us this, you know, and even in Acts, when they're talking about in Acts, um, which is the other one of the other scriptures, um, Acts, oh my goodness, I lost.

SPEAKER_00: Okay, Acts 17.11, which is one of the scriptures we're gonna talk about today.

SPEAKER_00: Acts 11, 17, which is one of our scriptures.

SPEAKER_00: The B-Rings are praised for being noble because they tested Paul's teachings against the scriptures.

SPEAKER_00: They even tested Paul.

SPEAKER_00: Paul's the one who wrote us to actually test this, test the spirits, and they're actually testing Paul against the scripture that he's he's giving to make sure that's accurate.

SPEAKER_00: That's like a double, that's like a double check.

SPEAKER_00: You know, it's kind of like when you go get in your car and you check the tires, but you don't, you don't, you just check them real quickly, but you don't double check them and you get a flat.

SPEAKER_00: If you're checking twice, you're you're gonna have that double protection.

SPEAKER_00: If you're being watchful, like I said, we are to be watchmen.

SPEAKER_00: If you're being watchful and you're paying attention, it's okay to test even um the news media, social media, your government.

SPEAKER_00: I would definitely test your government, are you?

SPEAKER_00: But that's me.

SPEAKER_00: Um I'm not I'm not a very political person.

SPEAKER_00: I don't like to get into politics with people.

SPEAKER_00: We're not gonna choose to run with the devil, we're gonna rebuke the devil, we're gonna um we're gonna recognize what the devil's doing and you know what the enemy, what games the enemy's playing.

SPEAKER_00: If you have the word of God hidden inside of you, that is your weapon, that is your sword, that is your tool, that is your lifeline to Christ.

SPEAKER_00: If you have a just even a word, you can take that word and put it into the concordance, and sometimes that word that that concordance will help you find scripture to go along with whatever it is that you're you're wondering or questioning.
