A Milwaukee landmark once slated for demolition has been saved thanks to a $150,000 grant from the National Trust’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund. Designed by Alonzo Robinson, Wisconsin’s first Black licensed architect, the Central City Plaza building — part of a historic three-building complex — is now set for adaptive reuse as a shelter expansion.
