- 0:01Speaker 1: No Premier League football this week, but a happy pod
- 0:03Speaker 1: after a much better game week. We check in on
- 0:05Speaker 1: Chip Strategy Big Up Bournemouth to our regular positional stock check,
- 0:09Speaker 1: and the question is will I be persuaded to finally
- 0:11Speaker 1: play my World card?
- 0:17Speaker 2: Well, isn't this.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Refreshing an FPR pod where we all actually had a
- 0:21Speaker 1: pretty good week. It's only second what was seven or
- 0:23Speaker 1: eight game weeks, but I think we're improving.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Would you say jewels between us?
- 0:28Speaker 3: Yeah? I think that was amazed. That was our best
- 0:29Speaker 3: week so far. As you said, you know, everybody who
- 0:32Speaker 3: had plenty of not just a green hour, loads of
- 0:37Speaker 3: jumping a lot higher in the rankings, which is great.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I mean he helps when you know your captain does well.
- 0:43Speaker 3: For example, when some of the key players do well,
- 0:46Speaker 3: it could have been better I think for three of us,
- 0:48Speaker 3: even more than the what seventy seven points for me
- 0:52Speaker 3: and UKs and I think eighty something for six. Yeah.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Very still very happy on Sunday night.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yeah, everyone very happy. And Sam, I imagine you especially
- 1:02Speaker 1: so because so many returns.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Yeah, and big returns as well from the players that
- 1:06Speaker 4: did so. Like I text, you didn't know because when
- 1:08Speaker 4: Kudis did his thing I was.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I knew he wouldn't rely. He never replied something.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I'm happy for. I mean, he's good. You know the
- 1:17Speaker 3: shot he's not even on target, right.
- 1:18Speaker 2: It's been coming for weeks. I'm not going to. I'm
- 1:21Speaker 2: not going to.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Also, I've watched Spurs' games recently more than I would
- 1:24Speaker 1: have just because of work, and the last few games
- 1:26Speaker 1: he's been so unlucky.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah, And I take it all back.
- 1:30Speaker 1: You know, And I think you can put the kip
- 1:31Speaker 1: on social media when I said it was wrong it
- 1:33Speaker 1: was a mistake bringing Kudis in over grealish.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It wasn't. It was a master's troke.
- 1:36Speaker 4: It it was genius, part of the plan. You just
- 1:39Speaker 4: had to be patient. So you know, the fact that
- 1:41Speaker 4: you were is yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Good.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I mean it started well, didn't it? On Friday evening
- 1:44Speaker 4: with ce Meno in his points. Although I was a
- 1:46Speaker 4: bit upset with Sinessi for not picking up the deaf
- 1:49Speaker 4: con that he normally does.
- 1:50Speaker 2: But how can you be annoyed every week?
- 1:52Speaker 4: I know, But that's why I was annoyed, because I was, like,
- 1:54Speaker 4: I got so used to seeing at least born next
- 1:57Speaker 4: to his name that when you only see two it's
- 1:59Speaker 4: been like, oh, but I mean it changed the game
- 2:01Speaker 4: and he went off and they went all out of that.
- 2:03Speaker 4: But yeah, really good from Semeno. Kudas did well. Timber
- 2:06Speaker 4: was great. Timber winning the penalty for soccer was probably
- 2:09Speaker 4: one of the favorite things that happened for me at
- 2:10Speaker 4: the weekends.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Also, that was very big for the whole arsenal debate,
- 2:15Speaker 1: wasn't it In the conundrum of who's on penalties and
- 2:18Speaker 1: if you didn't have soccer before, like myself, I think
- 2:20Speaker 1: it showed that you do need him. Do you think
- 2:22Speaker 1: Jewels that we're reading too much into that. Could there
- 2:25Speaker 1: be a sharing situation on our hands, or do we
- 2:27Speaker 1: just need to assume it's soccer?
- 2:29Speaker 3: No, I think a good question because I was at
- 2:31Speaker 3: the game and I was obviously very happy when Timber
- 2:34Speaker 3: got the penalty for FBI reasons really and Timber was
- 2:38Speaker 3: amazing in the game from start to finish, to be fair,
- 2:41Speaker 3: And then the question was like, and I think there
- 2:43Speaker 3: was probably a lot of the people within the Emirates
- 2:46Speaker 3: who were in the simplation as me, like, oh, who
- 2:48Speaker 3: is going to take it for the FBL team and
- 2:51Speaker 3: your cares waited for Saka who went to get the ball.
- 2:54Speaker 3: The ball was like a win by the touchline. Zacha
- 2:57Speaker 3: went together the ball. You see your Carris waiting. Then
- 2:59Speaker 3: they the little shots, probably your Carre saying do you
- 3:02Speaker 3: fancy this? Do you want me to take it? Because
- 3:04Speaker 3: that kind of stuff, And there was no way it
- 3:06Speaker 3: was no Soaca who weren't scored yet. You know, your
- 3:08Speaker 3: Carres had a penalty against Leeds for example, and two
- 3:11Speaker 3: k it when Soaka was not on the pitch anymore.
- 3:13Speaker 3: They might share. Although I still think that Saka will
- 3:17Speaker 3: be the number one taker. Although in a game where
- 3:20Speaker 3: has already scored maybe one or two goals, a penalty comes.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I wouldn't be surprised if Saca gives the boat to
- 3:25Speaker 3: your Cares, but I think for now it shows that
- 3:28Speaker 3: Saca is still the number one taker.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I can't wait to see the FPL meltdown on social
- 3:32Speaker 1: media the next time your christ It's going to happen,
- 3:36Speaker 1: isn't it anyway? Yeah, great week for all of us.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Six hundred k green ara if you jewels one million
- 3:40Speaker 1: for me, two point one million for Sam. So yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 1: really good, really nice to have a break.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Where we've got something good to reflect on. Isn't it.
- 3:48Speaker 1: As for the Fpopom Mini League, it's so exciting at
- 3:50Speaker 1: the top at the moment because it's changing absolutely constantly
- 3:53Speaker 1: at the top. Now is Alex Monte their team? Ha
- 3:55Speaker 1: ha Harland, Oh no, just two hours, but you get
- 3:58Speaker 1: my point, Rich should eighty two points. They went from
- 4:01Speaker 1: tenth up to first. It's really competitive at the top.
- 4:03Speaker 1: He captain Thailand, like so many of us did. Also
- 4:05Speaker 1: had returns from Gabrielle and die Kudis, Semeno, Eza and Bomo.
- 4:09Speaker 1: David Shackleton had a really good climb as well. He
- 4:12Speaker 1: may only be second, but after game week six he
- 4:14Speaker 1: was sixty six. He now sits just one point off top.
- 4:18Speaker 1: He played triple captain. He tripled captained. Wow, get this
- 4:22Speaker 1: Semeno who got him fifty four points. He also had
- 4:25Speaker 1: double digits from Berne Kudis, five points from Tarkovski, his
- 4:28Speaker 1: two deaf corn and a bonus. He also benched Vardioles
- 4:32Speaker 1: at twelve points for his assist, clean sheet and three bonus,
- 4:35Speaker 1: as well as Greenish as ten points.
- 4:37Speaker 2: So it could have been even better. But what a
- 4:38Speaker 2: squad he's got there.
- 4:39Speaker 1: He's got squad depth, doesn't he Norman Dierman climbs up
- 4:42Speaker 1: into third got eighty one points. He played his wild
- 4:44Speaker 1: card could have been even better though, because he did
- 4:46Speaker 1: bench Caido, Munos and Bomo, who got a combined total
- 4:49Speaker 1: of twenty four points. A reminder of the code for
- 4:52Speaker 1: the league and it's worth joining just because it's so
- 4:54Speaker 1: tight at the moment. X y six xp LA.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Just quickly on captain right, you said, remember you said,
- 5:03Speaker 3: never captain anybody from a Friday night, Thursday night, Wednesday night,
- 5:06Speaker 3: Tuesday night, Monday night.
- 5:08Speaker 2: We said, no, let's be fair.
- 5:10Speaker 1: We've always said, We've always said that it just going
- 5:13Speaker 1: be Sam in particular has a thing about it, and
- 5:16Speaker 1: Sham has never said that's a fr gospel.
- 5:18Speaker 2: We tell you to do it. It was your free
- 5:20Speaker 2: man like Sam, you wouldn't have done it anyway when
- 5:23Speaker 2: you got Holand on your team. You can you got
- 5:24Speaker 2: Holland with.
- 5:27Speaker 3: But semonial is the semenial right now? Is there? And
- 5:29Speaker 3: we talk about you know, midfielders later and Semino is
- 5:34Speaker 3: the best promiy player right now. He's been the best
- 5:36Speaker 3: since April. Probably nobody has scored more goals than him,
- 5:38Speaker 3: or or more goals than a seat than him in
- 5:40Speaker 3: prom It's just well, then you should have.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Known to him then, couldn't you.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean imagine if I turn my friends who
- 5:47Speaker 3: I do ashore with? Hey, why about Semon you? Nah,
- 5:50Speaker 3: don't do that.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I'm just going to really on this.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Let me stick up for some on this because she
- 5:54Speaker 1: always says about the Saturday twelve thirty and the Friday.
- 5:57Speaker 1: She always says she feels funny about it. It's a
- 5:59Speaker 1: funny thing that.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Who wins my weekend? Everyone else?
- 6:05Speaker 4: I never tell you not to do don't listen to
- 6:08Speaker 4: me anyway, So why would you listen to me on this?
- 6:11Speaker 2: Also? Was your above?
- 6:12Speaker 1: You shouldn't be listening to her anyway? Can we move
- 6:15Speaker 1: on to the actual topic rather than descending into yet
- 6:17Speaker 1: another argument chip strategy. It's always a good time to
- 6:20Speaker 1: talk about this in the international break, isn't it. We
- 6:22Speaker 1: are going to look back on what's happened so far,
- 6:24Speaker 1: which kind of I suppose plays into why we might
- 6:26Speaker 1: be playing chips at this point. You guys have both
- 6:29Speaker 1: played a chip, you've both played your wild card. I
- 6:31Speaker 1: haven't played one yet. But of course we've got to
- 6:34Speaker 1: be planning when we're going to be using them. A
- 6:36Speaker 1: lot of people. Of course, we'll have used that triple
- 6:38Speaker 1: captain chip on Harland just a couple of weeks ago. Sam,
- 6:41Speaker 1: what's your current plan.
- 6:44Speaker 4: I think I'm going to bench boast this week coming
- 6:46Speaker 4: out of the international breaking eight because it's sat on
- 6:48Speaker 4: my team for this so just to be able to
- 6:49Speaker 4: get rid of some of the bench. Yeah, but also
- 6:53Speaker 4: am I weirdly I might actually put some extra money
- 6:56Speaker 4: into the bench ahead of it because there's a player
- 6:59Speaker 4: we're going to talk it in the mid just start
- 7:00Speaker 4: who working Afford right now, and I think he's possibly
- 7:02Speaker 4: better than Anton Stak who I've got right now. So
- 7:05Speaker 4: I'm probably looking at a stretch of a bench about
- 7:08Speaker 4: in a unless there's like injuries glory over the international
- 7:10Speaker 4: break and then obviously I'll have to change my traps
- 7:13Speaker 4: the triple captain. So I've sat down and went through
- 7:17Speaker 4: the game weeks and kind of looked at when, and
- 7:20Speaker 4: it's difficult to plan too far ahead right because form
- 7:22Speaker 4: changes were already seen a form change from west Ham
- 7:24Speaker 4: under their new manager. They're looking better, so then maybe
- 7:28Speaker 4: no longer a team's target. Harland's got good fixtures in thirteen,
- 7:32Speaker 4: fifteen and eighteen against Leeds, Sunderland and Forest, so.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Might go for him.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Then I quite like the idea of Semtno versus Forest
- 7:40Speaker 4: in game week nine.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Is it the first fixture of the weekend, haven't checked.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Haven't checked, but if it is, then that would put
- 7:47Speaker 4: me off for sure. Or Always also got Burnley and
- 7:50Speaker 4: both his home games in seventeen, so I do quite
- 7:52Speaker 4: like the idea of that soccer. Possibly he's got Burnley
- 7:55Speaker 4: in Sunderland in ten and eleven Wolves in sixteen or
- 7:59Speaker 4: Eastack against in eighteen. Those are the kind of options
- 8:01Speaker 4: I'm looking at, So basically I'm going to look that's
- 8:04Speaker 4: the list. Those are the players that might get the chip.
- 8:07Speaker 4: I kind of do like at the minute, I'm erring
- 8:09Speaker 4: towards Semno in game week nine against Forest.
- 8:14Speaker 2: We'll see how we are.
- 8:15Speaker 4: As we get to that point, but it feels like
- 8:17Speaker 4: a decent option. Particulars we'll talk about later because SAMENU
- 8:20Speaker 4: and Bournemouth are one of the teams with the fewest
- 8:21Speaker 4: fixtures over the next few weeks.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Joe's what about you? This is you've got that notebook,
- 8:26Speaker 2: You've got the talent panel.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Absolutely Ben's book game week nine. It looks good for
- 8:29Speaker 3: my for my squad and my players. I like a
- 8:32Speaker 3: free hit for game week fourteen because I think especially
- 8:35Speaker 3: for the for the big clubs, it falls forced pretty decently.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And then the triple captain everything that So basically just
- 8:41Speaker 3: educate halland seems to be the most obvious one bars
- 8:44Speaker 3: we saw with Semeneur against the Fulham for the guy
- 8:47Speaker 3: who is top of army in the league, I think
- 8:49Speaker 3: Seminio is a is a great shot. By the time
- 8:51Speaker 3: that you can also you want to play your triple captain,
- 8:54Speaker 3: somebody might be on a great run of form with
- 8:56Speaker 3: decent fixtures, so you can't You can't just say Rhina
- 8:59Speaker 3: is going to be high Landing. You can have an
- 9:01Speaker 3: idea thirteen leads we said fourteen Sunderland for City. It's
- 9:05Speaker 3: all good. But by then Issac might be on fire,
- 9:07Speaker 3: or soccer might be on fire and scoring three or
- 9:10Speaker 3: four games in a row, and then that would obviously
- 9:12Speaker 3: change your mind and you could go for one of them.
- 9:14Speaker 3: So just keep an eye I think, as always with
- 9:17Speaker 3: triple captain, with the run of form of some of
- 9:21Speaker 3: those key players and the fixtures, and then you can decide.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it is tough, isn't it.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I kind of feel like that with bench boots as well,
- 9:26Speaker 1: because you can plan for a bench boost and then
- 9:28Speaker 1: if you get a couple of injuries or something, it
- 9:31Speaker 1: is really hort But if you are wildcarding, it's definitely
- 9:33Speaker 1: something to think about. I haven't wildcarded yet. I still
- 9:36Speaker 1: wildcard this week. I know you're agree with me about this,
- 9:39Speaker 1: aren't you.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I'm so surprised that you haven't.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Honestly, I meant to message you ahead of this, but
- 9:43Speaker 1: I was like, actually, it's almost a conversation to have
- 9:45Speaker 1: on the podcast. I've done multiple drafts. I nearly did
- 9:48Speaker 1: it on Sunday. I know I need to sell salad now,
- 9:50Speaker 1: like that that's done. It needs to be selling to SOACA.
- 9:53Speaker 1: The prices haven't changed there. I've been monitoring it every day.
- 9:56Speaker 1: If that would have changed, I think it probably would
- 9:57Speaker 1: have tipped over the edge. I'm a little bit worried
- 9:59Speaker 1: I should have done it now because I want to
- 10:00Speaker 1: do it. But if I'm not going to wildcard, I
- 10:02Speaker 1: need to make sure SOCCA doesn't get injured in the
- 10:04Speaker 1: international break or but do you know what I mean?
- 10:06Speaker 2: Like it's it's a genuine thing.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So there's multiple scenarios that could see me end up
- 10:11Speaker 1: worldcard in because I could do that transfer Sacker gets injured,
- 10:13Speaker 1: I then have to worldcard. I can do my two
- 10:15Speaker 1: transfers to get me to a place that I quite like.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Kudas returning did not help me because I was I
- 10:21Speaker 1: was all set to sell him. I can also do
- 10:24Speaker 1: it get an Arsenal defender. There are the two reasons
- 10:26Speaker 1: I would be worldcarding to cover Arsenal at the moment,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I've got some meno. I've got Harland Pedro is a
- 10:31Speaker 1: bit of a problem. I do admit that, and you
- 10:33Speaker 1: I'm still not sure. I wanted now by now some clarity.
- 10:36Speaker 1: What I wanted, I'll be honest, is for your Cares
- 10:38Speaker 1: to take that penalty, because then I would have gone
- 10:40Speaker 1: with your Cares as my third forward.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Right.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I just can't decide what to do with if I'm
- 10:45Speaker 1: going to go soccer. I'm still not sold on Esak,
- 10:49Speaker 1: so I just don't know. I don't I don't quite
- 10:51Speaker 1: know what to do there, and I would be I
- 10:54Speaker 1: would ultimately be wild carding to get a soccer, which
- 10:57Speaker 1: I can do with the transfer anyway, and to change
- 10:59Speaker 1: my fence.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Really it feels like.
- 11:02Speaker 4: But then the defense are so important right now, Like,
- 11:04Speaker 4: if you look at the players that are really returning,
- 11:06Speaker 4: it's the defenders.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So soness, I've got Anderson, who's a deaf con magnet
- 11:11Speaker 1: apart from it, but did you get different? I think
- 11:13Speaker 1: he might have even got a death conpoint all I
- 11:14Speaker 1: can't remember, and I'm an Arsenal defender. Yeah, I do
- 11:18Speaker 1: need to change my keeper as well. Being honest, it
- 11:20Speaker 1: could likely still happen. I'm monitoring the price where I haven't.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Haven't about the other problem I have got is that
- 11:25Speaker 1: Grealish is suspended next game week.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so that that.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Could swing it, to be honest, but yeah, I have
- 11:31Speaker 1: The price changes have meant I haven't needed to go
- 11:33Speaker 1: already whereas I would have I would have normally gone back.
- 11:36Speaker 3: It's a good thing because that means you don't feel
- 11:37Speaker 3: like you have to wild card because you're you don't
- 11:40Speaker 3: like your team or you think your team is.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Also everything you've just said there in terms of like
- 11:45Speaker 1: looking at your strategy going forward, I've got to be
- 11:46Speaker 1: careful that I don't push my wild card back too
- 11:48Speaker 1: far that affects my bench boost and triple captain.
- 11:50Speaker 4: And it's not just that, it's also not pushing it
- 11:53Speaker 4: back so far that it impacts the transfers around after
- 11:55Speaker 4: conn in game week sixteen. Is that something else to
- 11:58Speaker 4: consider that you know, if you are card late, you've
- 12:01Speaker 4: then you know, obviously you'll have less transfers, but you
- 12:05Speaker 4: do need to kind of think about that strategy forget.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I will play it, if I will play it by
- 12:09Speaker 1: the end of October, like that's kind of my is
- 12:12Speaker 1: my thinking, it's it's going to be this month because
- 12:15Speaker 1: then I want the whole of November almost to sort
- 12:17Speaker 1: myself out in terms of transfers and everything. I say,
- 12:20Speaker 1: I'm probably seventy thirty going to do it over the
- 12:22Speaker 1: next couple of days.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, again eight on nine basically.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah, do you know even yeah, but even yeah, so
- 12:27Speaker 1: it's game we k on nine really so yeah, there's
- 12:30Speaker 1: just a lot of things going around.
- 12:31Speaker 3: My head with it because we're going to go through
- 12:33Speaker 3: the best.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and the end of these she doesn't have and.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Then yeah, exactly by the end.
- 12:39Speaker 2: This podcast will probably press a button mine.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I just think there's quite a lot. I'm not normally
- 12:43Speaker 1: this indecisive. I've normally got a real I think the
- 12:45Speaker 1: double chips thing has really thrown me. I know we
- 12:47Speaker 1: already had two wild cards, but the double chips thing
- 12:50Speaker 1: has really thrown I Usually I'm like, well, I'm going
- 12:52Speaker 1: to triple caps in there, and I'm also still I.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Should probably world card because I've learned my lesson?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Have I not learned my lesson impact from the fact
- 12:59Speaker 1: I did use my triple captain when I knew I
- 13:01Speaker 1: should have a couple of weeks so I didn't do
- 13:02Speaker 1: it and look what happened ended up down. So yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 1: decisions aren't my strong point guys.
- 13:07Speaker 2: As we know.
- 13:09Speaker 1: In terms of in terms of for other people that
- 13:11Speaker 1: are listening who haven't wild carded, would when would you?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Is now the point? Because not everyone some people will
- 13:17Speaker 2: look at their teams and say they don't need to. Yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 2: I mean I think now is the point.
- 13:20Speaker 4: If you don't have Arsenal, if you don't have many
- 13:23Speaker 4: Manchester City players, if you are looking at a team
- 13:26Speaker 4: that's still set up for game we I mean, the
- 13:28Speaker 4: chances are if you set up well for game week
- 13:31Speaker 4: one and you know that your team now doesn't look
- 13:34Speaker 4: great heading into the next fixtures that we have, unless
- 13:36Speaker 4: you've used your transfers really wisely, which you might have
- 13:39Speaker 4: done so this does feel like a really opportune moment
- 13:41Speaker 4: to just reset and start again. I don't think there's
- 13:45Speaker 4: anything wrong with your strategy of waiting another week or two,
- 13:48Speaker 4: particularly if you're looking at your team for game we
- 13:49Speaker 4: Kate and thinking, oh, that actually looks okay. You do
- 13:52Speaker 4: have to be mindful of the other chips though, because
- 13:55Speaker 4: you know, in the past, the triple Captain, the bench boost,
- 13:58Speaker 4: the three here, all three of them would have been
- 14:01Speaker 4: pushed into the second half of the season and we'll
- 14:03Speaker 4: have gone, oh, let's wait for double game week here,
- 14:06Speaker 4: or a blank game week there, or all those opportunities
- 14:08Speaker 4: later on. But because we have to use all of
- 14:10Speaker 4: these in this first part of the season, we do
- 14:14Speaker 4: need to be mindful of the fact that the wild
- 14:16Speaker 4: card's going to come. But then you need another three
- 14:18Speaker 4: game weeks where you can play those other chips as well.
- 14:20Speaker 4: So don't let it get to a point where you're
- 14:22Speaker 4: getting to sort of game week fourteen fifteen, and then
- 14:24Speaker 4: you're panicking because you've got to get everything done in
- 14:27Speaker 4: the last few weeks, which I know cow is your specialty.
- 14:29Speaker 4: You do like leaving things late.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I just yeah, I don't think you can this year.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I think it is a real thing. I need to
- 14:36Speaker 1: get my spreadsheet back out, you do. I was much
- 14:38Speaker 1: more effective when I had a spreadsheet. Should have didn't
- 14:41Speaker 1: use a spreadsheet last year and had my worst ever finished.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I need to get the spread sheet back out.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 4: I do think the international break in November feels a
- 14:47Speaker 4: bit too late to play it, so somewhere between now
- 14:49Speaker 4: and the next international break feels like the best time.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Moving on, then let's talk about the fixtures for the
- 14:55Speaker 1: next few weeks. Sam, in terms of this is another
- 14:58Speaker 1: thing that makes it a minefield. So many competitions and
- 15:02Speaker 1: so many Premier League teams who have got multiple fixtures
- 15:05Speaker 1: to contend with over the next few weeks.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I sat down and I tried to work out
- 15:09Speaker 4: who had the least fixtures, because obviously, even if you
- 15:12Speaker 4: just take up until the next international break, if you
- 15:14Speaker 4: just look at who's just playing in the Premier League,
- 15:17Speaker 4: they'll have four games. So you've got Born with Burnley, Everton,
- 15:20Speaker 4: Leeds United, Manchester United, at londond and west Ham. Then
- 15:24Speaker 4: you've got the teams that are also playing in the
- 15:28Speaker 4: League Cup, and then you've got so you've got Brentford, Brighton,
- 15:31Speaker 4: Fulham and Wolves. You've got those then that are playing
- 15:36Speaker 4: in Europe but without the League Cup, so Forest and
- 15:39Speaker 4: Villa they've got six, and then everyone else so Arsenal,
- 15:42Speaker 4: Chelsea Palace, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle and Spurs all have
- 15:46Speaker 4: seven matches to play between now and the international break
- 15:50Speaker 4: in November, which is massive. That's a massive number of
- 15:53Speaker 4: fixtures after a really busy period for most of these
- 15:55Speaker 4: clubs already with Champions League, Europa League, Conference, League, Tea Cup,
- 16:01Speaker 4: everything else that's been going on. So it does make
- 16:04Speaker 4: you kind of think, because if you are going to
- 16:06Speaker 4: be using bench beach ships, if you are going to
- 16:08Speaker 4: be trying to triple captain, if you want to use
- 16:10Speaker 4: your free hit, you have to be really mindful of
- 16:13Speaker 4: the fact that there might be some rotation and for
- 16:15Speaker 4: some clubs we're seeing that and the back of the
- 16:17Speaker 4: midweek action. So something to consider and something that is
- 16:21Speaker 4: making me kind of look at the clubs that just
- 16:23Speaker 4: a playing Premier League or maybe just a playing Premier
- 16:26Speaker 4: League and League Cup and thinking maybe these are the
- 16:29Speaker 4: teams that I should be looking to invest in for
- 16:31Speaker 4: that security of starts over the next few weeks.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It does make Bournmouth so attractive doesn't because they're out
- 16:36Speaker 2: of the League Cup as well.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Jewels, Yeah, absolutely. I mean, of those teams that Sam
- 16:40Speaker 3: mentioned with only four games, they're not just the best
- 16:42Speaker 3: one right now, they're also the most informed, with the
- 16:44Speaker 3: players that we mentioned are also informed, from Senesi to
- 16:49Speaker 3: Semeno potentially and Evanilson if you want Petrovic in goal,
- 16:54Speaker 3: Jakitya as another defender. If you don't want to go
- 16:57Speaker 3: for Senesi, or even if you want to Doublop Troubler,
- 17:00Speaker 3: you could look at Clover who scored a world on
- 17:02Speaker 3: Friday night and might come back into the team and
- 17:04Speaker 3: might come back into some sore form. So there's there's
- 17:06Speaker 3: a lot of options there. For Bournemouth, you can look
- 17:09Speaker 3: obviously at Everton with Grayleish or Ndi, Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Maybe it's a little bit more difficult just to invest
- 17:17Speaker 3: more on those teams. United maybe if they can somehow
- 17:21Speaker 3: get a bit of consistency for an Enbomo or even
- 17:24Speaker 3: Bruno if you believe really, But but yeah, Bournemouth are
- 17:28Speaker 3: the ones really to target.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Okay, let's go through by position.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Then I probably haven't quite left long enough about this
- 17:33Speaker 1: because We've waffled on about my world card too long,
- 17:35Speaker 1: so that we don't have two long guys and many
- 17:37Speaker 1: I'm in that Hugels, Pope and Ruth's lead the way
- 17:40Speaker 1: in terms of goalkeeping points and the pretty much two
- 17:43Speaker 1: of the best options, aren't they.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Jeels, Yeah, I.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Mean for Pope, no doubt they are very strong defense
- 17:49Speaker 3: and Newcastle with a very strong midfield. We said that
- 17:51Speaker 3: often for roofs Well I think is interesting and Sanderland
- 17:53Speaker 3: as a whole great start of the season for a
- 17:55Speaker 3: newly promoted side. The thing is the fixtures coming up
- 17:58Speaker 3: are tough, so you wonder how stainable this kind of
- 18:00Speaker 3: four mills from him to start with, from this team
- 18:03Speaker 3: overall and especially defensively. They will play Chelsea Arsenal, Liverpool
- 18:07Speaker 3: City and Newcastle I think in the next eight games
- 18:09Speaker 3: or nine games something like that, So things are going
- 18:11Speaker 3: to get far more difficult for Sunderland than they were
- 18:14Speaker 3: so far in those first seven game weeks of the season.
- 18:18Speaker 3: But he's still a very good goalkeeper. He was highly
- 18:20Speaker 3: rated in the summer. A few other European clubs like
- 18:22Speaker 3: Leon wanted to sign him. He chose Sunderlands and he's
- 18:26Speaker 3: been good so far, but things are going to get harder.
- 18:30Speaker 2: We're in Sundland's early season fun.
- 18:31Speaker 3: And I'm saying, and they have a fresh manager, so
- 18:35Speaker 3: I love them dearly.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Sam, you went for Pope on your World card and
- 18:39Speaker 2: it was tight, wasn't it for you? Between the Pope
- 18:40Speaker 2: and Raya.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Yeah, it was massively tight, And in the end, I
- 18:43Speaker 4: think the only thing that it came down to was
- 18:45Speaker 4: the value that I placed in three additional arsenal assets
- 18:49Speaker 4: that aren't the goalkeeper, because otherwise I think Rayo is
- 18:52Speaker 4: the standout pick. Right he plays for the best defense
- 18:54Speaker 4: in the league. He looks like a really nice option,
- 18:57Speaker 4: but if you pick him, you can only have two
- 18:59Speaker 4: outfit US players and that put me off. So Pope
- 19:03Speaker 4: was a really really great option. I mean they say
- 19:05Speaker 4: second in the fixture ticker. If you run it right
- 19:07Speaker 4: the way through to game week seventeen, just asking them
- 19:09Speaker 4: ahead of them, fixtures look great. There's a nice opportunity
- 19:14Speaker 4: to go with somebody who also gets upside like he
- 19:16Speaker 4: often gets a save point, he'll often pick up a
- 19:18Speaker 4: bonus point, so there are there's more potential upside, I
- 19:23Speaker 4: think for Pope than there is for ray Ray is
- 19:25Speaker 4: probably going to get six most weeks because the Arsenal
- 19:27Speaker 4: outfielders they're going to get the bonus points. And he
- 19:30Speaker 4: doesn't make that many saves whereas Pope makes more. So yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 4: I mean, I think Pope is the best goalkeeper right
- 19:37Speaker 4: now to have, So I'm quite glad I went there
- 19:40Speaker 4: on world card and.
- 19:41Speaker 1: It's former Newcastle man Debravco still the second best kind
- 19:44Speaker 1: of backup goalkeeper.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Is he?
- 19:45Speaker 1: Its price Jewels He's made the most saves this season
- 19:48Speaker 1: with twenty nine as well.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean good performances for a Burnie team who's
- 19:53Speaker 3: been considered a lot of Gord's compared to last season
- 19:55Speaker 3: in a championship for example, and I think they will
- 19:57Speaker 3: keep conceding goals. So it's good to have on your bench.
- 20:02Speaker 3: You can maybe play play him sometimes depending on who
- 20:05Speaker 3: is the opposition, but I don't think it should be
- 20:08Speaker 3: your starter anymore.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Okay, onto defenders, I'm a bit worried because I said
- 20:12Speaker 1: to go through quickly. We're not going to rustle through
- 20:14Speaker 1: too quickly. Yeah, but Keith is always always a bit
- 20:16Speaker 1: more simplant to talk about, isn't it. Defenders? I think
- 20:19Speaker 1: we all just need an Arsenal defender. Do we maybe
- 20:21Speaker 1: need two Arsenal defenders Joels.
- 20:23Speaker 3: One for sure? Definitely. Again, we talked a little bit
- 20:27Speaker 3: about it last week and I watched Geran Timber play
- 20:31Speaker 3: live on Saturday, and really was he was incredible.
- 20:34Speaker 2: He said last week he's the best value.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Yes, he's the best value for money, I think, and
- 20:38Speaker 3: right now, because of the penalty that he got on Saturday,
- 20:41Speaker 3: I think he's just a point clear of Gabriel, who
- 20:44Speaker 3: is also a very good option, like his Saliba and
- 20:46Speaker 3: like his Calafiori, who seems to to stay in fit
- 20:49Speaker 3: for now, which is which is great. The thing I
- 20:51Speaker 3: like with Timber is obviously the most attacking of the four,
- 20:55Speaker 3: justin I'm not talking on set pieces, but in the
- 20:57Speaker 3: in the play in itself or the way Arsenal player
- 21:00Speaker 3: Calafiuri comes a lot in midfield and is an inverted
- 21:03Speaker 3: left back into midfield, and we'll have the odd goals
- 21:06Speaker 3: and suddenly on said pieces. But Timber is far more
- 21:09Speaker 3: involved in the final thirds going forward for Arsenal than Calafiory,
- 21:14Speaker 3: Gabriel or Saliva. Gabriel is the best on said pieces,
- 21:17Speaker 3: and everything around said pieces is aimed at gabrielle So
- 21:20Speaker 3: the other three Gala, Fiori, Timber, and Saliba are just
- 21:24Speaker 3: making some work to help Gabrielle scoring. So keep that
- 21:28Speaker 3: in mind, because Gabrielle will always score more goals than
- 21:30Speaker 3: anybody else in that team. I think defense what scares.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Me a little bit.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Timber's one point ahead, but Gabrielle, he's a little bit
- 21:36Speaker 1: more expensive. And I guess you kind of get what
- 21:38Speaker 1: you pay for, don't you really?
- 21:39Speaker 3: So yeah, no, you are, But I just I also
- 21:42Speaker 3: think that Timber will bring you more potentially more points
- 21:46Speaker 3: in assists or in you know, like Gabrielle would never
- 21:49Speaker 3: get the penalty that Timber gets on Saturday.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Fuming about that, by the way, because I knew you
- 21:55Speaker 1: both had Timber, both of you, not even one of you,
- 21:58Speaker 1: both of you had both players.
- 22:00Speaker 2: I was doing so well until that point. Sorry.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I do think that the timbersaka combo from last
- 22:05Speaker 3: one point, if you start with just two Arsenal players,
- 22:07Speaker 3: is the best one.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it does feel that way, doesn't it? Samnything to
- 22:10Speaker 1: add on Arsenal? Or should we suggest some other defenders
- 22:13Speaker 1: to people? No, I think just make sure you've got
- 22:15Speaker 1: one at least possibly have two. If you're not sure
- 22:18Speaker 1: about doubling up on the attack, but I think you
- 22:20Speaker 1: might want to double up on the arsenal attack, so
- 22:22Speaker 1: probably just depending on when on your budget or which
- 22:25Speaker 1: way you lean. I still think the underlying numbers for
- 22:27Speaker 1: Timber are better, so I'm still in Timbers camp. Oh So,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I really like this because every time we've spoken about
- 22:33Speaker 1: defenders this season, and particularly if you watch the Fantasy
- 22:35Speaker 1: Show as well as listen to this pode, it feels
- 22:37Speaker 1: like we've spoken about deaf con so much. I think
- 22:39Speaker 1: we're all guilty of getting a little bit too obsessed
- 22:42Speaker 1: with def con maybe, And I think this start, all
- 22:44Speaker 1: of the top thirteen defenders in the game have reachised
- 22:46Speaker 1: at least one attacking returns. So far this season, only
- 22:49Speaker 1: three of the top seventeen defenders have received death con
- 22:52Speaker 1: points at least once. So, Sam, we need to consider
- 22:54Speaker 1: death con, don't we. And it's changed things a little bit,
- 22:56Speaker 1: But those attacking returns are still are still gold for us,
- 22:59Speaker 1: aren't they.
- 22:59Speaker 4: I think that's the thing, isn't it. Like the deaf
- 23:01Speaker 4: compoints are really really good and I think I guess
- 23:05Speaker 4: it depends on what we classify as a return. So
- 23:07Speaker 4: this season we've got more potential for returns for the
- 23:10Speaker 4: defenders because we've got deaf com But in the past
- 23:13Speaker 4: it's really been do they get a clean sheet or not,
- 23:16Speaker 4: So it's either two or six unless you're a full back,
- 23:18Speaker 4: and then you're more likely to get an attacking return,
- 23:20Speaker 4: so maybe an assist.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Or maybe a goal.
- 23:22Speaker 4: So if you've got you know, in the past, if
- 23:24Speaker 4: you've had a trend or you've had a pedro poro,
- 23:25Speaker 4: you're more likely to get something out of them. Plus
- 23:27Speaker 4: those players are more likely to take the set pieces,
- 23:29Speaker 4: the free kicks, or the corners. This isn't It is
- 23:33Speaker 4: different though, because we are seeing continuation of attacking returns
- 23:37Speaker 4: from the center backs in like particularly if we take
- 23:39Speaker 4: Gabrielle who've just been talking about, we're still getting potential
- 23:42Speaker 4: from him from set pieces, but you have the added
- 23:45Speaker 4: benefits of the deaf compoints. So all of that stuff
- 23:47Speaker 4: is kind of contributing. So I think what's really fascinating
- 23:52Speaker 4: this season is that now and if we take Tarkovski
- 23:54Speaker 4: as an example of this last week, Tarkovski gets five points,
- 23:58Speaker 4: but he doesn't get a traditional return. There's no clean sheet,
- 24:01Speaker 4: there's no goal, there's no assist, he just gets two
- 24:03Speaker 4: deaf con points and a bonus point plus is two
- 24:05Speaker 4: points playing the game. The fact that you can get
- 24:08Speaker 4: a defender getting five points without actually getting any official
- 24:13Speaker 4: returns as we would normally have classified them, that is
- 24:16Speaker 4: incredible and it is changing the way that we look
- 24:18Speaker 4: at defenders, and it should change the way that we
- 24:20Speaker 4: look at defenders. So rather than just going I want
- 24:23Speaker 4: my fallbacks and kind of ignoring the center backs, I
- 24:26Speaker 4: think there is now a conversation where you have to
- 24:28Speaker 4: wait the value of the fallback with the potential that,
- 24:33Speaker 4: like Tarcole, you can get those five without really doing
- 24:35Speaker 4: much out.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I also think it's just changed the way we think
- 24:38Speaker 1: about maybe our slightly cheaper defenders. We're a little bit
- 24:41Speaker 1: more selective. Whereas it before it was like who's the
- 24:43Speaker 1: best fallback from the newly promoted club, now it can
- 24:45Speaker 1: be like, who's the best center back from maybe not
- 24:48Speaker 1: even Mark Gay. He's a prime example, I think in
- 24:51Speaker 1: some ways, like he's not from a newly promoter club,
- 24:53Speaker 1: he's from a team that do keep clean sheets. We
- 24:55Speaker 1: wouldn't have looked at him in the past because we'd
- 24:57Speaker 1: always looked at munos, but yours, you've managed to get Gay.
- 25:00Speaker 1: He benefit from the clean sheets and benefit from his
- 25:02Speaker 1: death corn without having to spend the moon off money.
- 25:05Speaker 1: So it's just it's a different way of getting into
- 25:07Speaker 1: other defenses.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I think clearly. And from the beginning, I mean the
- 25:10Speaker 3: price of Gay at the start of the season. I
- 25:12Speaker 3: don't understand how he was so cheap anyway, because the
- 25:14Speaker 3: guys an England international plays in Europe is the Cup winner.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Oh I loved England.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Well that's nice, unusual exactly, but but no, it's true.
- 25:26Speaker 3: And even now with all the price rises, Gay he's
- 25:28Speaker 3: still four point eight. It's way cheaper. It's like more
- 25:31Speaker 3: than a million less than Timber for example. That's and
- 25:35Speaker 3: Gay he in terms of the season so far, I mean, okay,
- 25:39Speaker 3: apart from the world I scored against you in that corner,
- 25:47Speaker 3: you think, okay, if the guy can also do things
- 25:49Speaker 3: like that, it's even better. But Gay has been Everybody
- 25:52Speaker 3: should have Gay in the team, I think, really, I
- 25:54Speaker 3: think again, the value for money is incredible. What's interesting
- 25:58Speaker 3: is the top eight of the best defenders of our
- 26:00Speaker 3: center backs if you count Calla Fury and Timber, who
- 26:02Speaker 3: are center backs really but now play fullbacks. But they
- 26:05Speaker 3: are center backs, which goes to the point that Sam
- 26:08Speaker 3: just made about death Gone and not looking at fullbacks before.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I remember maybe two years ago we all had defenses
- 26:14Speaker 3: with just fullbacks. There was not even a center back there.
- 26:17Speaker 3: We were all looking for dan and trends and those
- 26:19Speaker 3: kind of like attacking fullbacks. Now they're not even in
- 26:22Speaker 3: the top eight really, So maybe the right balance is
- 26:26Speaker 3: some established like star center back defenders if you want,
- 26:30Speaker 3: like a Gabrielle or Timber, and then balance it with
- 26:33Speaker 3: maybe players cheaper Damach cheaper. But do you know what
- 26:36Speaker 3: I mean, like those guys who are going to start
- 26:38Speaker 3: in death Gone more than being the best defense in
- 26:41Speaker 3: the country.
- 26:42Speaker 4: YEA was at the beginning of this when you said,
- 26:44Speaker 4: I don't want a wild card just for my defense.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, it makes me feel worse. I knew
- 26:48Speaker 1: this would happen, and I knew when we come on
- 26:49Speaker 1: this change.
- 26:50Speaker 3: We've got plenty of time the rain and turkey, will
- 26:52Speaker 3: you know? Give you that's true.
- 26:53Speaker 2: You can think about it while you're sitting inside. It's
- 26:56Speaker 2: all inclusive, free drinks. At the end of the day,
- 26:59Speaker 2: then play it.
- 27:00Speaker 4: I think if you look back at last season, by
- 27:02Speaker 4: this stage, only five defenders had hit thirty points, and
- 27:06Speaker 4: only one of them have broken forty points. This season,
- 27:09Speaker 4: we've got twenty defenders who've already got thirty points and
- 27:12Speaker 4: six who have already got more than forty. So we
- 27:16Speaker 4: are seeing a shift in the number of points that
- 27:18Speaker 4: defenders are scoring, and it's therefore suggesting that we should
- 27:21Speaker 4: be going back to the point of putting more thought
- 27:24Speaker 4: into our defense rather than just going I'm playing three
- 27:26Speaker 4: at the back and that's the end of it. And
- 27:27Speaker 4: I have these three and I'll just pick two randoms
- 27:30Speaker 4: who are likely to you know, it was like Leif Davis,
- 27:32Speaker 4: wasn't it last season, He's more likely to get an
- 27:34Speaker 4: attack in return, so I just stick him in. This season,
- 27:37Speaker 4: it's really different, and we're seeing like you've got options
- 27:40Speaker 4: in these cheaper clubs who are getting defensive contributions, who
- 27:44Speaker 4: have the potential for assists or goals as well. So
- 27:47Speaker 4: the defense feels like it's more important than ever because
- 27:51Speaker 4: of the value that they're bringing and because of the
- 27:53Speaker 4: fact that they are achieving far more points than the
- 27:55Speaker 4: forwards at the moment. Yeah, So Anderson, Sinnesti and Telkovskiv's
- 27:59Speaker 4: called the most with twelve other possible of fourteen deaf compoints,
- 28:03Speaker 4: which is pretty impressive, but only Sinesti makes it into
- 28:05Speaker 4: the top ten scoring defenders, So yeah, something to consider,
- 28:08Speaker 4: but not the be all an end all. With all
- 28:10Speaker 4: that we've said, then Sam, outside of an Arsenal defender,
- 28:12Speaker 4: and it sounds like both of your Arsenal defenders of
- 28:14Speaker 4: choice or defender of choice is Timber. Who are the
- 28:17Speaker 4: best options? Jewels has already said Gay, Yeah, definitely, I
- 28:20Speaker 4: think him. If you want to go for a Laqui
- 28:22Speaker 4: or Richard's as well, then you know fine. I think
- 28:24Speaker 4: Gay he's the best one, though in my opinion, Sinesti
- 28:28Speaker 4: I think still has to be there. I think he
- 28:29Speaker 4: looks like a great option for the rest of the
- 28:31Speaker 4: season pretty much. If you're not going poping Gold, I'd
- 28:34Speaker 4: have a Newcastle defender, probably go for Dan Byrne somebody
- 28:38Speaker 4: along those lines.
- 28:38Speaker 3: And then.
- 28:40Speaker 4: I think you can then afford to go for one
- 28:42Speaker 4: of the cheaper options at the four million who's the.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Best cheaper who's the best four at the moment?
- 28:46Speaker 4: Then it's difficult, isn't it, Because like Alderette's obviously had
- 28:49Speaker 4: that Monster Hall last week. Rodan is lucky that he's
- 28:52Speaker 4: not scored two and two. He could have easily scored
- 28:54Speaker 4: again against Birds at the weekend. I think he would
- 28:56Speaker 4: have quite enjoyed that one as well. So there's options
- 28:59Speaker 4: that have got a taking threat, but they're also keeping
- 29:01Speaker 4: regular clean sheets. And I appreciate what Joe said earlier
- 29:04Speaker 4: about Sunderland and the fact that their season is is
- 29:06Speaker 4: going to be a bit more difficult, but you're not
- 29:09Speaker 4: really sickly going to play your four point zero very often,
- 29:11Speaker 4: and the fact that you know in the next three
- 29:13Speaker 4: so they've got Wolves up next, then it's Chelsea and Everton,
- 29:16Speaker 4: difficult game against Arsenal, Fullha Bornouth, Liverpool Man City. But
- 29:19Speaker 4: in those games you just mentioned them anyway, So I
- 29:22Speaker 4: think probably i'd still go for somebody like a Roadan
- 29:24Speaker 4: or an Aldurette because you do have that little bit
- 29:27Speaker 4: of upside potential jewels.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Who would you go for You've already said Gay and Timber.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Who else?
- 29:31Speaker 3: I would just add Mo, who some mentioned last week
- 29:34Speaker 3: are Sunderland's part is born and bred, which makes him
- 29:36Speaker 3: even more special as you know, but a four million.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Don't get points for that.
- 29:40Speaker 3: You should.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Also sorry, because I don't want to forget to say this.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Someone tweeted, I don't know if you saw this.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Jewels.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Someone tweeted saying, if you've got FPL points for TV
- 29:51Speaker 1: and radio appearances across the last week, Julian Larron would
- 29:54Speaker 1: win the entire game because you've been on so many programs.
- 29:57Speaker 1: They just switched on and seen you on Sunday Supplement
- 30:00Speaker 1: on the Sky Sports and you've been on I can't
- 30:02Speaker 1: even remember, but you've been on so many other programs.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I just thought it was quite funny.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Sorry, I didn't see it. I look for and response,
- 30:09Speaker 3: but yeah, I think just a four million, his four
- 30:11Speaker 3: point zero is good to have.
- 30:14Speaker 1: We'll go on to midfielders then absolutely no surprise to
- 30:16Speaker 1: see Antoine s Meno is top of the charts.
- 30:19Speaker 4: Sam must have. Yeah, absolutely essential. And I just think
- 30:23Speaker 4: it's fascinating, isn't it? Because he's gone up by zero
- 30:26Speaker 4: point nine million already. We are bonkers, isn't this mad?
- 30:30Speaker 4: We're seven game weeks in and he's gone up by
- 30:32Speaker 4: nearly a million already. Yet he still looks cheap. He
- 30:35Speaker 4: still looks incredible value for money. Like I think, if
- 30:38Speaker 4: you don't have him and you've got to spend seven
- 30:41Speaker 4: point nine on him.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Just spend seven point nine.
- 30:43Speaker 4: On him, because in the next couple of weeks he
- 30:45Speaker 4: could easily be eight and a half. Like he's going
- 30:47Speaker 4: to be by far and away the player that has
- 30:50Speaker 4: the most upside in terms of team value over the
- 30:53Speaker 4: next few weeks. I think you'll rise again over this
- 30:56Speaker 4: international break. I just think that he is he's just essential.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Like he is.
- 31:02Speaker 4: He's the first player I would genuinely categorized as essential
- 31:04Speaker 4: this season. It's also quite nice, isn't it that an
- 31:06Speaker 4: essential player is someone that isn't I know, he's gone
- 31:09Speaker 4: after a lot, so he's still under eight million, Yeah,
- 31:11Speaker 4: still under eight millions. So for our budget, it's just
- 31:13Speaker 4: it's just brilliant, Like you can understand if people if
- 31:16Speaker 4: socas or salaries essentially or struggling to get him in.
- 31:19Speaker 4: You shouldn't really be struggling to get him in in
- 31:21Speaker 4: my opinion anyway. And it is quite it kind of
- 31:24Speaker 4: epitomizes the top of the midfield of rankings in general,
- 31:26Speaker 4: doesn't it was? If you take a look at it,
- 31:28Speaker 4: the highest scoring premium infielder is Sala and he's twelfth
- 31:31Speaker 4: in the rankings. There's been incredible value in midfield this season.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean incredible value. You're right, and people like
- 31:37Speaker 3: se Menium have been outstanding really, but it's disappointing from
- 31:42Speaker 3: the premiums right, Let's be honest here, let's call it
- 31:45Speaker 3: what it is. He hasn't been a good season for Bruno, Fernandez,
- 31:48Speaker 3: who missed penalties, for Mosala, who at times just saved
- 31:52Speaker 3: this performance by a lake goal or late penalty like
- 31:54Speaker 3: a Burnley, but really was not good during the game.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Saka has been injured. So from those kind of perspective
- 32:00Speaker 3: on those players, it let's not even go there. We'll
- 32:03Speaker 3: be like, yeah, it hasn't been good really so far.
- 32:07Speaker 3: So let's hope that they get better, although that we
- 32:09Speaker 3: bring more head x to us and then who to
- 32:12Speaker 3: go for and find that money that you mentioned kels
- 32:14Speaker 3: to bring Bruno in your team or Salah back in
- 32:16Speaker 3: your team, or Saka if you don't have him, et cetera,
- 32:18Speaker 3: et cetera. But for now, let's enjoy the way it
- 32:21Speaker 3: is because it's quite fun and it's good because it's
- 32:23Speaker 3: just different. The other interesting thing as well is in
- 32:26Speaker 3: the top eight of those midfielders, you've got six defensive midfielders,
- 32:30Speaker 3: So forget about a guy who plays as a number
- 32:32Speaker 3: ten or a very creative attacking midfielder lacks e meeno.
- 32:36Speaker 3: But you've got your Cacidos, your Rices, graven Bersh, Colin
- 32:41Speaker 3: is there too, and there's another one I can't even
- 32:46Speaker 3: read my writing. And Enzo, of course, yeah, who sometimes
- 32:50Speaker 3: plays a little bit higher up on the pitch, maybe
- 32:51Speaker 3: as a number ten, but still those players are usually
- 32:54Speaker 3: deeper on the pitch, certainly for Cacido, Gravenbersh and Rice.
- 32:57Speaker 3: And yet their performances descent has been and in the
- 33:00Speaker 3: game they come up with good can sid it's got
- 33:02Speaker 3: three goals already on top of all the deaf cons,
- 33:05Speaker 3: all the bonus points because he's been outstanding, one of
- 33:07Speaker 3: the league's best players so far. So even a bit
- 33:10Speaker 3: like the defenders and the fullbacks and center backs. We
- 33:13Speaker 3: used to just look at attacking midfielders for our midfielder line,
- 33:16Speaker 3: which is absolutely fine. Now I think you can look
- 33:19Speaker 3: even more at defensive midfielders.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Okay, then let's build our best midfield So we're also
- 33:24Speaker 1: in semeno. Who would you go after that? It's got
- 33:26Speaker 1: to be Socca, hasn't it, So yeah, I'd have Soccer.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I think I would be really really tempted to have
- 33:33Speaker 1: Socca and ASA at the minute. Because of the arder
- 33:36Speaker 1: guard injury, I think that will make as are increasingly
- 33:40Speaker 1: important in the Arsenal team for the next few weeks,
- 33:42Speaker 1: so I think I go there. I really like Anthony Gordon.
- 33:45Speaker 1: I appreciate we didn't see a lot from him in
- 33:47Speaker 1: game week seven, but I like the fixtures. I like
- 33:49Speaker 1: where he's playing. The fact that he probably is on
- 33:51Speaker 1: penalties when he's on the pitch also adds another element
- 33:55Speaker 1: to his games.
- 33:56Speaker 2: I like him.
- 33:57Speaker 4: I like Ishmiodasara as well, and the Palace fixtures, and
- 34:00Speaker 4: then Caido.
- 34:01Speaker 2: I just think he's probably.
- 34:03Speaker 4: Going to be my transfer in this week or next week,
- 34:06Speaker 4: ahead of ahead of the next game week anyway. I
- 34:08Speaker 4: just think he looks like great value for money in
- 34:11Speaker 4: a Chelsea team that you know, seems to be getting
- 34:13Speaker 4: points and goals through him. So yeah, I think Isado
- 34:17Speaker 4: is a really nice option. Then of course there's Ryander's
- 34:19Speaker 4: still who if you want to stay in the really
- 34:21Speaker 4: cheap bracket, it feels like a really nice option as well.
- 34:23Speaker 3: I left Case on the bench against Liverpool and I
- 34:26Speaker 3: was human and I did it because I had Josh King,
- 34:30Speaker 3: who I really like and I know he hasn't in
- 34:33Speaker 3: terms of FPR hasn't brought that many points yet. But
- 34:36Speaker 3: I knew he would probably play up front because of
- 34:38Speaker 3: Jimenez and Mooney situations and full But the weather was
- 34:43Speaker 3: so bad it felt like I fail, Josh King could
- 34:46Speaker 3: fly off with all the wind that there was one
- 34:48Speaker 3: because he's so you know, small. Thank Yeah, So I
- 34:52Speaker 3: left Casey on the bench. And then when I watched
- 34:54Speaker 3: the Chelsea Liverpool game and I was like, oh my god,
- 34:58Speaker 3: So that's my ten points on the bench from Casey.
- 34:59Speaker 3: I think for me, Casey is a must have. You
- 35:02Speaker 3: can have Semeno and Soaka and all the players that
- 35:04Speaker 3: some mentioned, and that's they're all great the case he
- 35:08Speaker 3: is a must have.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Now one name that I thought one of you might
- 35:11Speaker 2: have mentioned didn't die at Everton. He looks good value too.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he does look good value. I don't know Everton. Obviously,
- 35:20Speaker 4: it's Manchester City up next, and it's Spurs. Then they
- 35:23Speaker 4: get into a nice run of fixtures again before they
- 35:25Speaker 4: get to Newcastle Bournemouth and then Chelsea and Arsenal. So
- 35:28Speaker 4: the fixtures are a little bit mixed, and that's probably
- 35:31Speaker 4: why because like he's significantly more expensive than somebody like Caido,
- 35:34Speaker 4: So I think because the fixtures are a little bit
- 35:36Speaker 4: more difficult, that's why I'm leaning away from him and
- 35:38Speaker 4: towards some of the cheapest Chelsea options.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Okay, on to forwards, I think we're all saying that
- 35:42Speaker 1: one of our slots has gone. If you're going to
- 35:44Speaker 1: say Antoine se Meno is essential, you're going to say
- 35:46Speaker 1: that you've got to spend the big bucks on Harland
- 35:48Speaker 1: any jewels.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Yeah, one hundred percent. I'm still a bit baffled by
- 35:51Speaker 3: the fact that he had only one shot against Branford,
- 35:54Speaker 3: which came in the ninth minute, and he took his
- 35:55Speaker 3: gold really well, but even that ball was not a
- 35:57Speaker 3: great But I mean he had a lot of work.
- 35:59Speaker 3: He's not happening, That's what I mean. He still had
- 36:01Speaker 3: a lot of work to do and then nothing. So
- 36:03Speaker 3: you've got the most informed striker in Europe with Mbappi
- 36:07Speaker 3: and Kane, there are the three really outstanding right now,
- 36:09Speaker 3: and you only give him one shot in nineteen minutes
- 36:13Speaker 3: away at Branford, which I know City controlled that second
- 36:17Speaker 3: half and they controlled the game and they were happy
- 36:18Speaker 3: with the one. They'll win and halland W.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Wasn't help us inn fpl doesn't it, But do you
- 36:21Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 36:22Speaker 3: Like, but the guys in that kind of form just
- 36:24Speaker 3: giving the board orders. Even if you put crosses in
- 36:26Speaker 3: and he's not always at the end of them, it
- 36:28Speaker 3: doesn't matter. Just just feed the guy. Really, so I
- 36:31Speaker 3: think he should even be better than what it is now.
- 36:33Speaker 3: But I think it's called eleven in eighteen in his
- 36:35Speaker 3: eleven games so far, it's in for club and country.
- 36:37Speaker 3: It's just it's just sick really how good he is,
- 36:40Speaker 3: even with not much service. So he's a banker, go
- 36:43Speaker 3: for him. I know he's expensive, but he's worth it.
- 36:45Speaker 1: He's also the only fool with one double digit return,
- 36:48Speaker 1: which when I read that, I was like, what, how
- 36:50Speaker 1: was that?
- 36:50Speaker 2: How has that happened?
- 36:52Speaker 1: Outside of Harlan's ral Pedro has been popular but now
- 36:55Speaker 1: we spoke of him last week and we kind of said,
- 36:57Speaker 1: don't sell him now, and there's a whole fear of
- 36:59Speaker 1: if he does reten, you could be kind of left behind.
- 37:02Speaker 1: But if I was wild carding, I don't think he
- 37:03Speaker 1: stays that. It's really hard to sell him ahead of
- 37:07Speaker 1: Nottingham Forest and then Sunderland, like that it's really difficult
- 37:11Speaker 1: to sell him ahead of those two matches.
- 37:13Speaker 2: This is also factoring into my wild card thinking as well, yeah,
- 37:16Speaker 2: I get that wildcard.
- 37:17Speaker 4: I get that totally because actually, and again going back
- 37:19Speaker 4: to that conversation we had before about the defenders. Last season,
- 37:22Speaker 4: we had ten forwards who have got thirty points already
- 37:25Speaker 4: and five on more than forty. This season, we've got
- 37:27Speaker 4: six who've got thirty and only Harlan who's got more
- 37:30Speaker 4: than forty. So the forwards have been really disappointing at
- 37:33Speaker 4: a time where the defenders have been really good. And
- 37:35Speaker 4: I'm so heavily invested in my forward line, like I've
- 37:38Speaker 4: got Harlan, I've got job Pedro, and I've got Esac.
- 37:40Speaker 4: So much budget in that front line it feels a
- 37:43Speaker 4: bit ridiculous to have it that far. And it does
- 37:46Speaker 4: look like Joe Pedro could be the player that goes
- 37:50Speaker 4: sooner rather than later.
- 37:51Speaker 2: But I really struggled to.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Sell him ahead of those next two fixtures. So I
- 37:56Speaker 4: think the underlying numbers suggest that he's a sell. Two
- 37:59Speaker 4: attempts in the last four and zero on target. I
- 38:02Speaker 4: mean that's really bad, Like there's bad and there's that.
- 38:05Speaker 4: So yes, I think so, But that Forest defense, I
- 38:11Speaker 4: think I'm going to give him another week.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Okay, So the third scoring forward in the game is
- 38:16Speaker 1: actually Jared Bowen. He's had some price drops, He's at
- 38:20Speaker 1: a brilliant price point. We know that Sam loves him,
- 38:22Speaker 1: and we know that if west Ham are going to score,
- 38:25Speaker 1: you kind of no, it's going to be him, don't
- 38:26Speaker 1: you really? But the problem, I guess jeors is how
- 38:29Speaker 1: many are they going to score? Does it justify buying him?
- 38:31Speaker 3: Yeah? And I think he might take a bit of
- 38:33Speaker 3: time for Nuno to just, you know, make this team
- 38:37Speaker 3: a better team. There's only already better structure than they
- 38:40Speaker 3: were before under Harry Potter, which, let's be honest here,
- 38:44Speaker 3: they didn't didn't really, you know, I'm not a biggest
- 38:46Speaker 3: fan of it is anyway, but that didn't work. Tell
- 38:49Speaker 3: But you're right. I think Bowen will be great in
- 38:51Speaker 3: a Nuno team kind of thing, a bit like what
- 38:53Speaker 3: we saw last season within the Landau of Forrest, you know,
- 38:56Speaker 3: and that kind of just think about that kind of
- 38:58Speaker 3: of template. But how long will it take? And and
- 39:02Speaker 3: and again, Bowen should not be the third highest forward
- 39:07Speaker 3: in this game right now, because this season hasn't been
- 39:09Speaker 3: that good really, let's be honest, and neither has been
- 39:12Speaker 3: west Ham. It shows you again that the big guys
- 39:15Speaker 3: have been disappointed or just just oroad. It has been
- 39:18Speaker 3: pretty pretty average from the fours in the game. So yeah,
- 39:22Speaker 3: but when why not if you want to go there
- 39:24Speaker 3: for sure and the fixtures coming up a decent to
- 39:26Speaker 3: be honest, says score has now scored two and it's
- 39:29Speaker 3: looking a little bit better. The Branford Goldie had to
- 39:32Speaker 3: have three shots before scoring and you know the one
- 39:35Speaker 3: at the weekend was kind of a tapping on a
- 39:37Speaker 3: long throw and and that was it really so I'm
- 39:40Speaker 3: not sure against Sanderland that you take too much away
- 39:42Speaker 3: from it, but why not? I think for to Tomato right
- 39:44Speaker 3: now is the one that everybody should look into.
- 39:47Speaker 2: That that's why I would be bringing in one hundred.
- 39:49Speaker 3: It's still less than ten percent owns seven point two millions,
- 39:53Speaker 3: so not too expensive compared to Issac or Harland or
- 39:57Speaker 3: even Pedro. To be fair, the three as he took
- 40:00Speaker 3: his penalty really well and some maybe he's right, maybe
- 40:02Speaker 3: he's going on the number one taker before the matter
- 40:05Speaker 3: is there too. He's getting i think more used to
- 40:07Speaker 3: playing in this team and you see his skill set
- 40:10Speaker 3: very much. Certainly you saw it at the weekend. So
- 40:12Speaker 3: it's an interesting one. And just to finish for me,
- 40:15Speaker 3: let's let's address really the elefant in the room or
- 40:17Speaker 3: the etac in the room because that returned against Chelsea.
- 40:20Speaker 3: No way, this is an assistant.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Running out of time on the show.
- 40:25Speaker 3: But touch from Isaac who probably wanted to get the
- 40:27Speaker 3: boat done for himself.
- 40:28Speaker 2: No, no, I take the point.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm just saying for.
- 40:32Speaker 2: People I didn't have him, true, but for the people.
- 40:35Speaker 3: Who say, like, oh yeah, that's it he you know,
- 40:38Speaker 3: this his first return finally, like because there was a
- 40:41Speaker 3: goal in the league, but not in the league. It's
- 40:43Speaker 3: something in the league. Well it's a fluke in the league,
- 40:45Speaker 3: That's what it is.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I'm just saying, okay, best three foward, then a round off.
- 40:48Speaker 1: We haven't got much time. Le's some here, would you
- 40:50Speaker 1: guys for.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Harland.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Obviously I water advanced. I've literally lost the ability to
- 41:02Speaker 4: speak now, and then I don't know. I still really
- 41:05Speaker 4: like Matteta. I think I made I think I made yeah,
- 41:11Speaker 4: and I think I think when I kept pedro over
- 41:14Speaker 4: him through fear of ownership, that was a mistake, all right.
- 41:20Speaker 4: The next two an't great. It's born with an arsenal.
- 41:21Speaker 4: But after that, I really like the fixtures for Palace,
- 41:25Speaker 4: and so I think what I'll probably do is give
- 41:26Speaker 4: you Pedro two weeks and then move.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Back to the room.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Jeels, give us your.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Three f how did you the more.
- 41:39Speaker 4: He is commonly known as in the FL community, and.
- 41:44Speaker 3: The third one for Nu, I stick with Pedro.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Would do you want to sing u out? Then Jewels
- 41:48Speaker 1: will be back next week is an international reckon. We'll
- 41:50Speaker 1: be previewing the next game week then, so still plenty
- 41:54Speaker 1: to come, Joel sing us out.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Please have a great week, guys.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Room
