- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM

- 0:16Speaker 1: here's not Bill Handle.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Wow. Would you look at us KFI AM six forty
- 0:23Speaker 2: live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Good morning. It is Wednesday,
- 0:28Speaker 2: the thirty first of December, which means dantada de la.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It is New Year's eBay Happy, let's make some pots
- 0:41Speaker 2: and pans, oly snockers. It is uh the end of
- 0:47Speaker 2: twenty twenty five, and you believe it. I cannot, which
- 0:50Speaker 2: is why I asked. So this is Neil Svader in
- 0:54Speaker 2: the morning crew with you handles out this week. He'll
- 0:56Speaker 2: be back next week and I'll be off. Oh my gosh,
- 1:01Speaker 2: it's like, uh, it's like three card monte with me
- 1:06Speaker 2: and Bill. You know, hey, diddle diddle, got the chick
- 1:08Speaker 2: in the middle to keep your eye on the whatever.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I haven't done it in a long time. Got me
- 1:12Speaker 2: through college, all right. Didn't go to college, so it
- 1:17Speaker 2: was mostly just taking people's money. But happy to be here.
- 1:22Speaker 2: We have Cono, Stephen Cono is government name. I got
- 1:29Speaker 2: me yesterday. We got will in the toilet this morning,
- 1:34Speaker 2: which is great in the camp we're all going to
- 1:37Speaker 2: come in there and do the show from the toilet. Hello, welcome,
- 1:41Speaker 2: all right, Uh, Matthew is in for Anne and of
- 1:49Speaker 2: course the lovely, effervescent Heather Brooker.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, thank you so much.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yes you are. You're lovely in every way. You were
- 1:57Speaker 2: filled with energy and positivity. Except she's a mean drunk.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I probably shouldn't say this on the air.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Just start swinging by the end of handle, just be.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Like, get out a filthy and like a sailor. I
- 2:09Speaker 2: love saying that about people who are kind to people.
- 2:12Speaker 2: They're so nice. Then you lean over and you go, yeah,
- 2:14Speaker 2: is drunk.
- 2:15Speaker 3: There's some accuracy.
- 2:16Speaker 2: If I get a little tequila, I start swearing I
- 2:19Speaker 2: dated this girl. Well everyone does. That's what tequila does.
- 2:22Speaker 3: It's a truth teller.
- 2:23Speaker 2: If it didn't happen, I'd be worried about you. I
- 2:26Speaker 2: dated this love she was just lovely, this lovely woman.
- 2:30Speaker 2: One time and she'd get a couple pops in her
- 2:34Speaker 2: and yeah, she she was angry.
- 2:37Speaker 4: It makes me very like honest with like way too
- 2:40Speaker 4: honest with people, but not like in the in a
- 2:42Speaker 4: good way, like it's it's not good.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Tequila is not my friend.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah. It it tends to make men fight and women
- 2:51Speaker 2: take off their clothes, all right, which is probably why
- 2:55Speaker 2: the guys are fighting. Yeah, but first, yeah, yeah, there's not.
- 3:01Speaker 2: One of the best compliments I ever received was from
- 3:04Speaker 2: the genius himself, mister Phil Hendry. We were in Vegas
- 3:07Speaker 2: and we were thrown back tequila and he's like, you
- 3:10Speaker 2: are one of the only guys I will drink tequila
- 3:13Speaker 2: with because I'm actually more fun. But I'm not like
- 3:17Speaker 2: a jerk, and guys can be jerks with tequila. Yeah,
- 3:21Speaker 2: So I thought that was nice. And he's a Don
- 3:25Speaker 2: Julio guy, if I remember correctly.
- 3:27Speaker 4: People think that news people are just serious all the time,
- 3:30Speaker 4: and it catches them off guard whenever they see a
- 3:32Speaker 4: newsperson out in the wild, like just being normal. And some,
- 3:35Speaker 4: to be fair, some news people are very stuffy and
- 3:38Speaker 4: can't let loose.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Uh.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you something, lay on, man, I've been
- 3:42Speaker 2: to those award shows for news reading. Newspeople are not
- 3:50Speaker 2: that way. Some of the old school guys maybe that
- 3:52Speaker 2: were bow ties, but newspeople can party.
- 3:57Speaker 4: They've got to let it out. I have not been
- 3:59Speaker 4: to one of those in a very, very long I.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Can drink, and they can party and let loose like
- 4:06Speaker 2: nobody's business. So that's true.
- 4:08Speaker 3: That's true.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I do know news people can can let her rip
- 4:11Speaker 4: because I mean, you know, you have to have an outlet.
- 4:14Speaker 4: You're literally sometimes telling horrible stories all day long. And
- 4:17Speaker 4: just like the bearer of bad news. One time, Handle
- 4:21Speaker 4: called me ey Or. He's like, here's e Or with
- 4:23Speaker 4: the news, and I was like, oh my god, that's
- 4:25Speaker 4: not you. I was like, oh my god. And he's like,
- 4:28Speaker 4: he goes, you bomb everybody out with your news, and
- 4:30Speaker 4: I was like, oh, all right, that's okay.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I can make the news.
- 4:34Speaker 3: That's true.
- 4:34Speaker 2: It's like you're not out, you know, robbing and stealing
- 4:38Speaker 2: and cutting fatton, which is what I do for New
- 4:41Speaker 2: Year's as a matter of fact. Actually if I go
- 4:43Speaker 2: out and do strong arm rubbery.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Well, I've been asking everybody today. Our wake up call
- 4:46Speaker 4: question was what's the one thing you have to do
- 4:49Speaker 4: on New Year's And what's your thing?
- 4:51Speaker 3: What does you do?
- 4:51Speaker 2: You have a certain food or drink? You know, normally
- 4:54Speaker 2: we're I'm with the family and Big Bear. Normally we
- 4:58Speaker 2: bring in the New Year and Big Bear and and
- 5:00Speaker 2: uh sometimes there's snow. Sometimes there's not, and then we
- 5:03Speaker 2: get pots and pans because my son, he's just he's
- 5:08Speaker 2: nine now, but you know, going out and making noise
- 5:11Speaker 2: at midnight, and he thinks it's a real treat because
- 5:13Speaker 2: he doesn't get to stay up till midnight, so you.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Do it earlier.
- 5:18Speaker 2: No, but I'm saying that he doesn't get to stay
- 5:20Speaker 2: up to midnight normally, so it's kind of a treat
- 5:22Speaker 2: for him. And you know, watch the movies and then
- 5:25Speaker 2: we count in and then I sweeched my wife and
- 5:31Speaker 2: and we bang some. Yeah, we have snack night, just
- 5:34Speaker 2: like buried snacks.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Are you going to do a version of that at
- 5:37Speaker 3: home tonight?
- 5:38Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm maybe I should broadcast from home
- 5:42Speaker 2: tomorrow because I'm like, uh, I know, I like coming
- 5:45Speaker 2: in thanks. It's it's always more fun when we're all together.
- 5:49Speaker 2: But uh yeah, I don't know how I'm gonna work yet.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I'm already tired thinking about it.
- 5:54Speaker 4: I know it is a grind, but we do it
- 5:57Speaker 4: for the people. We do it for the KF.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It's you know, I like being here, and I like
- 6:02Speaker 2: being here on the holidays because I know we have
- 6:04Speaker 2: you know, these great listeners that are very dedicated and
- 6:07Speaker 2: listen to the station and I don't want to be
- 6:10Speaker 2: live and connect with them.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Yeah, we love it.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's all good. Let's let's start some of that,
- 6:15Speaker 2: shall we? With the handle on the news lead story.
- 6:22Speaker 2: All right, it's a gab news. He's mobilizing, well, checking
- 6:28Speaker 2: his hair and then he's mobilizing that look good. Okay,
- 6:32Speaker 2: my voice sounds too smooth. Give me those rocks. Let
- 6:35Speaker 2: me gargle with him. Then I gargle with him.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Arat he's getting a little bit of the RFK voice.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Right, Oh, they got RFK is dying in front of us.
- 6:43Speaker 2: His eyes I have a theory. His eyes are like,
- 6:48Speaker 2: you know, like U two celestial lorbs that are coming
- 6:52Speaker 2: together and when they meet, because they get closer every
- 6:54Speaker 2: time I see him. His eyes are closer together. They're
- 6:56Speaker 2: gonna meet and he's gonna implode in a ball of
- 6:59Speaker 2: fire and become one with the universe and it's just
- 7:04Speaker 2: going to be like his abs and he's going to
- 7:08Speaker 2: be like no more vaccine. So anyways, Newsome is preparing
- 7:17Speaker 2: because nobody prepared last January for possible problems. So Southern
- 7:23Speaker 2: California and beyond is prepared for the rain. Rains coming
- 7:27Speaker 2: in about ten am today, I think is when we're
- 7:29Speaker 2: going to start seeing a little bit of that throughout
- 7:32Speaker 2: the Southland. And the flood risks are what are horrible.
- 7:35Speaker 2: As much as I love the rain and the weather,
- 7:37Speaker 2: that's what we're going to be looking out for today.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Alrighty. So we've been talking about this quite a bit
- 7:45Speaker 3: this week.
- 7:45Speaker 4: So the alleged fraud that's happening in Minnesota with the Daycares.
- 7:50Speaker 4: The US Department of Health and Human Services now says
- 7:53Speaker 4: it has frozen all childcare payments to the state of
- 7:56Speaker 4: Minnesota as the FBI and Department of Homeland Security investigate
- 8:00Speaker 4: the allegations of fraud, including in some childcare centers.
- 8:05Speaker 3: And that is there.
- 8:08Speaker 4: I should say that this area, this particular area is
- 8:10Speaker 4: home to the country's largest Somali population, and Deputy Secretary
- 8:15Speaker 4: of HHS Jim O'Neil, announce the funding freeze on social
- 8:19Speaker 4: media this week. This comes weeks after ICE launched operations
- 8:23Speaker 4: in the Minneapolis Saint Paul area to target undocumented Somali immigrants.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I think, I think I know what I'm going to
- 8:30Speaker 2: have tonight because I heard the largest Tamali population. When
- 8:34Speaker 2: you said that, and I'm like, I'm like, wow, that
- 8:39Speaker 2: sounds great. The largest population. Why we have a problem
- 8:44Speaker 2: with that? Oh my lordy, alrighty, this is a sad story.
- 8:48Speaker 2: And boy man, this mountain continues to take lives. Mount
- 8:53Speaker 2: Baldy beautiful, beautiful area and you know the foothills just
- 8:59Speaker 2: right off foot Hills and just gorgeous, but harsh weather there.
- 9:05Speaker 2: A hiker fell near devil's backbone, anything with devil or
- 9:09Speaker 2: death or any of those things.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Bones, just I'm out, don't try to mount it, no climate.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Don't so Two other unidentified people were also found dead
- 9:21Speaker 2: on the mountain. It's one of the nation's deadliest peaks.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I mean you're talking experienced hikers have been lost there
- 9:30Speaker 2: and some have died. The three men were found dead
- 9:34Speaker 2: there on Mountain Baldy on Monday. Winter storm up there
- 9:38Speaker 2: blanketed the peak because if you remember, the snow level
- 9:43Speaker 2: I think was above seven thousand on this last storm.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And you know that's a pretty high peak there. But
- 9:52Speaker 2: beautiful area, lovely to hike. I just hiked lower, like
- 9:56Speaker 2: a hike lower as you're going up to the mountain.
- 10:00Speaker 2: But it's a gorgeous area. They got a great little
- 10:04Speaker 2: eatery up there. The lodge is great fun area to
- 10:10Speaker 2: hike around. And the little creeks down below. See some
- 10:14Speaker 2: of the are they rams or mountain goats up there,
- 10:18Speaker 2: but they have them the Yeah they've got the curly
- 10:21Speaker 2: little horns. But beautiful up there. But be careful. I
- 10:25Speaker 2: every time I read those stories, I just think, man,
- 10:28Speaker 2: that's what a horrible way to go.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Hikers are like bicyclists to me.
- 10:33Speaker 4: They're just so dedicated and so intense about their desire
- 10:37Speaker 4: to get up in the mountains and walk. I just
- 10:43Speaker 4: it's not for me. So Rosebery is tomorrow. We've been
- 10:48Speaker 4: talking a lot about this. It could rain. It's almost
- 10:51Speaker 4: one hundred percent likely now that it is going to
- 10:54Speaker 4: rain for tomorrow, and so there's going to be a
- 10:56Speaker 4: lot of people out there on Colorado Boulevard. And yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 4: they're expecting still people to be out there with barbecues,
- 11:04Speaker 4: folding chairs, and coolers ahead of the one hundred and
- 11:07Speaker 4: thirty seventh Tournament of Roses parade. That means there's going
- 11:10Speaker 4: to be some street closures and other things you need
- 11:12Speaker 4: to know about. So the parade route begins at Orange
- 11:16Speaker 4: Grove Boulevard and then we'll turn east onto Colorado before
- 11:20Speaker 4: ending at Sierra Madre Boulevard. Street closures are going to
- 11:23Speaker 4: begin tonight at ten o'clock and roadways will not reopen
- 11:27Speaker 4: until two o'clock on New Year's Day, so they're going
- 11:29Speaker 4: to be blocking traffic along that whole way. Just avoid
- 11:33Speaker 4: the area. If you're not planning to go to the
- 11:35Speaker 4: Rose Parade, just avoid it. There's also apparently a five
- 11:39Speaker 4: k race at midnight. I didn't know they did that.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Do five k?
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah that sounds horrible.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yeah, where do.
- 11:49Speaker 2: So wait to say? You said barbecues. People are allowed
- 11:51Speaker 2: to bring their head botchies. I thought that's a no no,
- 11:54Speaker 2: it's well the La Times says this, people do it. Yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 2: so they may not be allowed to, but maybe they
- 12:01Speaker 2: do it anyway. I love the strange hypocrisy in this
- 12:05Speaker 2: town where it's like, uh, no camping on the sidewalks,
- 12:08Speaker 2: but here's the tips and it's like, well, wait a second,
- 12:12Speaker 2: what if I just tell them I'm homeless? Yeah, because
- 12:16Speaker 2: it's you know, they're cooking and peeing and wiring up.
- 12:21Speaker 2: You see homeless folks taking the plates, the safety plates
- 12:27Speaker 2: off of lamp poles and using the wiring to hot
- 12:31Speaker 2: wire electrical gear. You see them taking off parts of
- 12:37Speaker 2: the fire hydrants and piping in their own water from
- 12:41Speaker 2: and it's like, but so help me, God, you bring
- 12:45Speaker 2: an umbrella, you're or you set up a tent and
- 12:49Speaker 2: you're not filthy or steeped in your own filth, You're out.
- 12:55Speaker 3: You're out.
- 12:56Speaker 2: So you've got to prove.
- 12:57Speaker 3: That, you know.
- 12:58Speaker 4: I was doing a deep dive on some rose great
- 13:00Speaker 4: history and I read that now marshmallows are no longer
- 13:04Speaker 4: like allowed, because apparently several years ago it became like
- 13:07Speaker 4: it was a tradition when people were barbecuing and grilling
- 13:10Speaker 4: out the night before, they were making s'mores and stuff,
- 13:13Speaker 4: and they would start like throwing marshmallows like like confetti
- 13:17Speaker 4: during the parade. And now people are no longer allowed
- 13:20Speaker 4: to throw marshmallows.
- 13:22Speaker 2: So everybody ruins it way to ruin it. It's the
- 13:24Speaker 2: eighty twenty rule. Ten percent of the population ruins it
- 13:28Speaker 2: for the eighty percent. Always did they say, I know
- 13:32Speaker 2: you talked to someone this morning levens yes. And do
- 13:37Speaker 2: they say what expectations they have for diminished crowds? Do
- 13:44Speaker 2: they think that, like, oh, when it rains, we expect
- 13:47Speaker 2: ten percent less.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I don't think they are.
- 13:50Speaker 4: I think that they're fully expecting people because people plan
- 13:53Speaker 4: for this for months, maybe a year, almost the whole year,
- 13:56Speaker 4: because they've got people coming in from all over the country.
- 14:00Speaker 3: So I mean, they might.
- 14:01Speaker 4: See slightly less of a crowd, but I think they're
- 14:03Speaker 4: still expecting quite a few people to be out there,
- 14:05Speaker 4: parents wanting to watch their kids, because all the marching
- 14:08Speaker 4: bands will be there from all over the country, the
- 14:10Speaker 4: equestrian units, all the floats, you know, the thousands of
- 14:14Speaker 4: people that work on the floats.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I think they're all expected to be there.
- 14:17Speaker 4: So that's why they're still sending out all the preparation
- 14:20Speaker 4: information for people they're expecting it to be. I mean,
- 14:22Speaker 4: there might be a few less locals that will go,
- 14:25Speaker 4: but there's still going to be quite a few people
- 14:27Speaker 4: from out of town that'll be there.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Fun story, I was broadcasting out there during the Tim and'
- 14:32Speaker 2: neil show days here on KFI. Out there in the evening.
- 14:36Speaker 2: We were in a secured ish area with fencing, and
- 14:42Speaker 2: I got rushed by somebody, I think a gang member
- 14:44Speaker 2: if I remember what, Yeah, well, I was live, I
- 14:46Speaker 2: was live on the air and I kind of walked
- 14:48Speaker 2: away from everybody and I think they're trying to rob.
- 14:52Speaker 2: You can't remember how it went down, but I remember security.
- 14:56Speaker 2: It took security a little bit to get to me,
- 14:58Speaker 2: and I think I dropped them Mike and had to
- 15:00Speaker 2: tackle the guy. If I remember correctly, I had to
- 15:04Speaker 2: drop on the guy and security was like, I think
- 15:07Speaker 2: I was on the air and I'm like, hey, there's
- 15:09Speaker 2: some guy running at me. For I'm gonna have to
- 15:14Speaker 2: ask Michelle c because I bet you she was there.
- 15:16Speaker 2: But I I have a vague memory of being rushed
- 15:22Speaker 2: on the air.
- 15:22Speaker 3: You just hear Neil yelling I just want to watch
- 15:25Speaker 3: the Rose.
- 15:26Speaker 2: No it's on. If somebody's rushing at me, I'm like, okay,
- 15:29Speaker 2: there's this isn't my choice, but it's gonna happen not me.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I was a pretty scrappy back then. I had I
- 15:36Speaker 2: had would often tell people they'll help people in the air. Well,
- 15:40Speaker 2: you know when I get off and you know where
- 15:42Speaker 2: I work, so.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you just try to fight people. You're like, let's go.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I would a different person. I would be like nope,
- 15:51Speaker 2: thanks no, the same person every day. I'd be like nope,
- 15:55Speaker 2: thank you. No. I am stupid and fat and bald
- 15:58Speaker 2: and ugly. Thank you, I'm out.
- 16:00Speaker 3: But Beck, in the back of the day, you were like,
- 16:02Speaker 3: it's on like donkeys.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Oh, I have jumped during broadcast. The security used to
- 16:06Speaker 2: laugh about you know. They they come in after I
- 16:08Speaker 2: get there because I'm like, let's do this, not me.
- 16:12Speaker 4: I am running away in slow motion like Baymax. Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 2: All right, the Warner Brothers Discovery deal, it looks like
- 16:22Speaker 2: they are kind of in the stance to reject the
- 16:26Speaker 2: amended takeover offered by Paramount sky Dance last week, as
- 16:31Speaker 2: David Ellison keeps up his pursuit there and seeking those assets.
- 16:38Speaker 2: We'll see what happens. But Bloomberg News reported just yesterday
- 16:42Speaker 2: that the board there at WBD was expected to reject
- 16:46Speaker 2: the amended offer.
- 16:47Speaker 3: So they're really trying.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's an interesting battle, and Heather and I
- 16:54Speaker 2: talked about it yesterday. But man, there's a lot of
- 16:59Speaker 2: st and there's a lot of unknown and fear behind
- 17:05Speaker 2: what could be should Netflix get a hold of that
- 17:09Speaker 2: deal or anybody, I guess, but we shall see, all right.
- 17:16Speaker 4: A lawsuits in says that the La City ignored fire
- 17:23Speaker 4: safety as it allowed for other developments. So this is
- 17:28Speaker 4: a really complex issue, and we'll try to break it
- 17:31Speaker 4: down as much as we can here. But a new
- 17:33Speaker 4: lawsuit says the City of La repeatedly ignored state wildfire
- 17:37Speaker 4: safety regulations as it permitted new development in areas with
- 17:41Speaker 4: severe fire hazards. So this lawsuit was brought about by
- 17:46Speaker 4: the State Alliance for Fire Safe Road Regulations and the
- 17:50Speaker 4: Federation of Hillside and Canyon Associations. These are two advocacy
- 17:54Speaker 4: groups for building regulations and.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Things like that.
- 18:00Speaker 4: So they provided seventy five examples of building permits and
- 18:04Speaker 4: other plans approved by the city that alleges violate excuse
- 18:09Speaker 4: me that alleged that these requirements were violated, and they
- 18:16Speaker 4: violated the minimum firesafe regulation. So basically, they're saying that
- 18:21Speaker 4: the city is ignoring these rules that are in place
- 18:26Speaker 4: and allowing homes and buildings to be built in dangerous
- 18:29Speaker 4: areas that are high highly prone to fire development. What
- 18:34Speaker 4: I did, very inarticulately, was trying to explain that stuff.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I got it. I got it. I sifted through all that.
- 18:41Speaker 3: My coffee is still processing through my body this morning.
- 18:43Speaker 5: One time things happen, stuff city, stuff come out there
- 18:48Speaker 5: city and bad, bad things back to you people mad
- 18:54Speaker 5: back to you and studio.
- 18:55Speaker 3: I think people got the gist of that.
- 18:57Speaker 4: There's a lawsuit against the La City of La.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Nice summation people, mad lawsuit happening back to you and
- 19:07Speaker 2: studio the end. All right, So Disney, we heard Disney
- 19:12Speaker 2: going back and forth about integrating Hulu into Disney Plus.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Why do I get the lawsuit? Store? You get Disney
- 19:18Speaker 3: and Hulu? Come on, Matt, Matt Toppler, wtf.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Matt hates you. Here's a legal briefing. Please.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Uh the summer sixteen.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Paid story, Let's see, it was the best of times.
- 19:32Speaker 2: It was the worst of times. So this is gonna
- 19:34Speaker 2: be a lot better sit down. So yeah, So Walt
- 19:37Speaker 2: Disney Company on track to integrate that streaming platform, Hulu
- 19:43Speaker 2: with Disney Plus. They're looking to do this in twenty
- 19:46Speaker 2: twenty six, but there's no real date. They kind of
- 19:49Speaker 2: have been shying away from any specifics here on what's
- 19:51Speaker 2: going to go down. I think we're going to have,
- 19:54Speaker 2: if not in twenty twenty six, maybe the year to
- 19:58Speaker 2: follows going to be an explosion here somewhere about streaming.
- 20:03Speaker 2: It's just we're now paying more than we did for cable,
- 20:06Speaker 2: which was a paid and many of them now have
- 20:10Speaker 2: commercials in addition to page Yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 20:13Speaker 4: Like we're you know, everybody cut the cord from cable
- 20:17Speaker 4: years ago to save money because it was like five
- 20:19Speaker 4: ninety nine for such and such streaming service. Or I
- 20:22Speaker 4: signed up for Disney plus years ago when they first
- 20:25Speaker 4: launched it, and I got in at two ninety nine
- 20:28Speaker 4: a year and I signed for three years.
- 20:30Speaker 3: That is a steal. You cannot find that with any
- 20:32Speaker 3: of the streaming services.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I think we were in very beginning. Yeah, and now
- 20:37Speaker 2: what is it like? Is it twenty bucks for no
- 20:41Speaker 2: it's got maybe twenty or hovering around twenty maybe.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Let's see Disney, ok I have so many subscriptions everyone,
- 20:49Speaker 4: so so many? All right, So Disney Basic with ads
- 20:52Speaker 4: is twelve dollars a month with ads with ads, Disney
- 20:56Speaker 4: Premium no Disney Plus Premium with no ads eighteen.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Ninety nine a month.
- 21:01Speaker 2: That's what we're paying. Yeah.
- 21:03Speaker 4: So and then if you get Disney with Hulu with
- 21:05Speaker 4: no ads, twenty bucks a month.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Okay, So that's it because we we got we had
- 21:10Speaker 2: had Hulu and we cambine them and all of that.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Yeah, but it just just gonna keep going up.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's getting to the point where it's gonna be
- 21:16Speaker 2: ridiculous and you're gonna have to pick one. I mean,
- 21:19Speaker 2: Disney's gonna be a big one for us. But we're
- 21:22Speaker 2: gonna start doing that thing that if there's a show
- 21:24Speaker 2: on there that you like, then you're just gonna not
- 21:27Speaker 2: watch it, yeah, or just watch it for that show
- 21:30Speaker 2: when the season ends, canceled those.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Well, do you think that we might see a swing
- 21:35Speaker 4: back to cable? Do you think people are gonna get
- 21:38Speaker 4: so fed up with all of the minuscule like bumps
- 21:41Speaker 4: and increases and how much we're paying that eventually it's
- 21:44Speaker 4: gonna come full circle and people are gonna go, you
- 21:46Speaker 4: know what, I'm just gonna pay my one hundred bucks
- 21:48Speaker 4: seventy five bucks for two hundred channels of cable.
- 21:51Speaker 2: It may be, oh, because cable doesn't really own the
- 21:53Speaker 2: stations anymore. I mean, as far as they're they're not
- 21:57Speaker 2: the content. They don't have the content anymore.
- 21:59Speaker 3: It's these Cable does like.
- 22:02Speaker 2: But the individual companies are saying, we're are streaming, so
- 22:05Speaker 2: they're not they're going.
- 22:06Speaker 3: To pull like TLC.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Yeah, they'll just say, hey, we won't put them on
- 22:10Speaker 2: anywhere else, I think we are going to get fed
- 22:13Speaker 2: up because we already are and I'm already looking at
- 22:16Speaker 2: getting rid of subscriptions.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Yes we are too, because and.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I find stuff like I'll go, what am I paying
- 22:24Speaker 2: twenty five bucks a month on it? And I'll look
- 22:26Speaker 2: and it's like, you know, designs like apps and stuff
- 22:32Speaker 2: that I use to design stuff, And I'm like, but
- 22:35Speaker 2: I use that maybe twice a year. So I'm looking
- 22:38Speaker 2: at those things, and I think when it comes to entertainment,
- 22:41Speaker 2: it's just gotten to the point where you can't have
- 22:44Speaker 2: twenty big name twenty dollars items a month for TV.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Well, I think maybe they're thinking, with all this consolidation,
- 22:53Speaker 4: then you've only you only have like two or three
- 22:57Speaker 4: like because if you have Disney and you have ESPN,
- 22:59Speaker 4: who on there live TV? And then you know who
- 23:05Speaker 4: has live TV with it?
- 23:07Speaker 3: If you have all of.
- 23:08Speaker 4: That in the one app, So maybe they're thinking, oh, well,
- 23:10Speaker 4: people will just need our app.
- 23:12Speaker 2: That's exactly what they're trying to do. That's what is
- 23:14Speaker 2: always going to happen. However, to your first question, I
- 23:18Speaker 2: think somebody won't be cable as we know it. Things
- 23:21Speaker 2: never come back pure ever, they always go through cycle
- 23:24Speaker 2: fashions the same way. If it comes back new, it's
- 23:27Speaker 2: going to be with something old. So years ago, you'd
- 23:31Speaker 2: get new cuts with eighties colors, or you'll get seventies
- 23:36Speaker 2: cuts with a different You know, they come back. They
- 23:39Speaker 2: never come back pure again, but there might be a
- 23:42Speaker 2: new type of cable where they're going, hey, we're going
- 23:44Speaker 2: to compete, and this is what it is. Yeah, you know,
- 23:47Speaker 2: Netflix wasn't on the horizon at all. That reminds me.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I got to return a couple of DVDs. Oh dear,
- 23:53Speaker 2: I'll get them in the mayor.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Remember that it was they used to give those away.
- 23:57Speaker 3: They go here, take them.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're like, that's not a problem, all right.
- 24:02Speaker 4: So we mentioned a couple of times umbrellas are not
- 24:05Speaker 4: permitted along the Rose Parade Route.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Marshmallows or covers that hellos. Yep.
- 24:10Speaker 4: So if you're planning to head out to the Rose
- 24:12Speaker 4: Parried Route, the city officials say, do not bring yo umbrella.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Grab a poncho a rain jacket. They don't want you
- 24:20Speaker 4: blocking the view for all of the millions of people
- 24:24Speaker 4: they're expecting.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Ponchos. I gotta tell you. Go on Amazon. You could
- 24:29Speaker 2: buy them in bulk best thing ever if you have.
- 24:33Speaker 4: A kid who needs I'm like, who would need bulk ponchos.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I'm telling you. It was my son's birthday in November
- 24:40Speaker 2: and it rained on his birthday, and we're going back
- 24:43Speaker 2: and forth. We looked into having it indoors a couple places,
- 24:46Speaker 2: but he likes to do like outdoorsy things, and last
- 24:50Speaker 2: year we did a he wanted to have a melee
- 24:53Speaker 2: that was his wish, like a forty person melee, so.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Like shaving cream and like silly string and.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Water fight swords and shields. Oh swords and that is
- 25:03Speaker 2: their foam but they're you know, swords and shields. And
- 25:06Speaker 2: the parents loved it. Everybody got into it was a
- 25:08Speaker 2: lot of fun. Well, he wanted to do it again
- 25:10Speaker 2: this year, but it rained, so we got ponchos so
- 25:13Speaker 2: it was swords, shields, big I brought out big strobe
- 25:18Speaker 2: lights and did it in the front yard in the rain. Fabulous.
- 25:24Speaker 4: That sounds so fun and perfect for like nine ten
- 25:27Speaker 4: year old.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Oh man, they were everybody, it's so And then it
- 25:32Speaker 2: started raining at Disneyland the other day and somebody's like
- 25:35Speaker 2: our family members were out and there like, oh my gosh,
- 25:37Speaker 2: it's going to be raining. We're like, don't worry, bulk
- 25:40Speaker 2: Podchos to the rest of Pancho. Yeah. So I'm just
- 25:43Speaker 2: saying we need to have.
- 25:44Speaker 3: A kfi melee.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Just have everybody I'm in, Just have everybody meet down
- 25:49Speaker 4: on the plaza and let's just get our swords in
- 25:52Speaker 4: and our shields.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Are just so many melee weapons I've been wanting to
- 25:55Speaker 2: bring out.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Have everybody let out their aggression, Like could you imagine
- 25:59Speaker 4: Cobalt like ah with his sword.
- 26:03Speaker 2: This is gonna be an interesting year leading into twenty
- 26:07Speaker 2: twenty six. Times square ball will drop twice this year.
- 26:12Speaker 2: That's two times more than Codo.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I knew that was good. I knew there were gonna
- 26:18Speaker 3: do something.
- 26:21Speaker 2: So this is gonna be interesting because it will drop
- 26:24Speaker 2: for the New Year today and then in January or
- 26:26Speaker 2: July rather, it's going to for America's two hundred and
- 26:29Speaker 2: fiftieth birthday. It's gonna and I love this a non
- 26:34Speaker 2: partisan commemoration. Listen, it's all of our flag, man. We
- 26:39Speaker 2: own it. That flag, that red, white and blue, that's
- 26:43Speaker 2: a pow flag, that is a gay rights flag, a
- 26:48Speaker 2: pride flag, that is the American flag. That covers blacks, whites, yellow, red, purple.
- 26:58Speaker 2: That's everybody's flag. Can't stand when people give it to
- 27:02Speaker 2: one particular party and think it's there. No, it's all
- 27:05Speaker 2: of our flag and it has to represent all those things, pride, everything,
- 27:12Speaker 2: because we're all Americans. Salute.
- 27:15Speaker 3: That's right.
- 27:16Speaker 2: But they are going to be doing that. On the
- 27:18Speaker 2: fourth of July. The ball is going to drop in red,
- 27:20Speaker 2: white and blue.
- 27:20Speaker 3: What is that word there? Can you try saying that
- 27:22Speaker 3: word America?
- 27:23Speaker 4: Two fifty we'll kick off the Wait where are you
- 27:26Speaker 4: in the middle under the consolation ball semi Quins Centennial.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, you nailed it.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Woh yeah, I had to say it real slow though.
- 27:37Speaker 2: Yeah, but you nailed it. That's I remember. Seventy six
- 27:41Speaker 2: was a big deal. Seventy six was huge. I think
- 27:45Speaker 2: we went I think we went to uh, Magic Mountain.
- 27:50Speaker 2: We went to Magic Mountain, and that's when I first
- 27:52Speaker 2: got into magic. I think because Blackstone Junior did a
- 27:57Speaker 2: magic show.
- 27:57Speaker 3: There.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Huh, there you go. Think you just learned a little
- 28:02Speaker 2: something about me. Someone likes that. Speaking of that, if
- 28:08Speaker 2: you'd like to ask any of us a question for Friday,
- 28:11Speaker 2: you can go. If you're listening to us on Theheart
- 28:13Speaker 2: radio app. You'll see a red button with the icon
- 28:17Speaker 2: of a Mikey at thirty seconds to ask a question
- 28:19Speaker 2: of Kono or Will or Matthew or Heather or me
- 28:25Speaker 2: and we'll answer them. On Friday, it'll be a good time.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Head by all.
- 28:32Speaker 4: It will be a good time, all right, you know
- 28:33Speaker 4: it's not having a good time. Was the lapd a
- 28:37Speaker 4: while back. Apparently some copper wire thieves stole copper wire.
- 28:43Speaker 2: That's what copper wire thieves do.
- 28:45Speaker 3: That it is what they do and end of story.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Back to you, No they still.
- 28:49Speaker 2: We're giving you the simple ones now, thank you. Copper
- 28:53Speaker 2: wire thieves steal copper back to you, bye bye.
- 28:57Speaker 3: All right.
- 28:58Speaker 4: The copper wire thieves, the why are that they stole
- 29:01Speaker 4: had an impact on the communications tower in Alesion Park
- 29:05Speaker 4: and it left several departments with inoperable radios. So the
- 29:09Speaker 4: police were unable to call for assistance through their radios
- 29:15Speaker 4: because these copper wire thieves had taken the copper wire
- 29:20Speaker 4: from that in fact, then pacted the tower.
- 29:23Speaker 2: See at this point that just becalled it becomes domestic
- 29:26Speaker 2: terrorism when you start taking down communication systems or things
- 29:30Speaker 2: like that. It's I have very little sympathy for this,
- 29:34Speaker 2: and you have to nail the people that are processing
- 29:37Speaker 2: this stuff, that are taking it in, melting it down.
- 29:40Speaker 2: And because these are recycling centers, what they are.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Someone is now, where are they taking their take?
- 29:46Speaker 2: I mean, do they take to the same metal place the.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Place people go with the cans?
- 29:51Speaker 2: I don't know if it would be some it will
- 29:54Speaker 2: do certain medals in some won't. So it's maybe not
- 29:56Speaker 2: your neighborhood one. But and I'm not saying that recycling
- 30:01Speaker 2: places are shady, but if you've ever gone to recycle anything.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we've actually caught people digging in our
- 30:09Speaker 4: personal trash cans before. My husband's had to go out
- 30:11Speaker 4: there and be like, hey, can you not dig in
- 30:14Speaker 4: our I mean, and we don't. We just live in
- 30:16Speaker 4: on like an average street. But there's people that push
- 30:19Speaker 4: their shopping carts. I've seen them.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a normal thing in my bood.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 30:24Speaker 2: No, what we do is we put all the recyclables
- 30:28Speaker 2: that are not cardboard and things like that, the cans
- 30:31Speaker 2: and stuff. We put them separately in a bag and
- 30:33Speaker 2: I put them on the top.
- 30:34Speaker 3: So you just make it easy for them to dig
- 30:36Speaker 3: through your trash.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Because to me, that's somebody. There's somebody working. No, to me,
- 30:41Speaker 2: I'd rather have that than you know, some homeless person
- 30:44Speaker 2: strung out on the corner. If this is somebody who's
- 30:47Speaker 2: going around and collecting that, I make it as easy
- 30:49Speaker 2: as possible for them so they don't have to dig
- 30:51Speaker 2: through it. This is not a joke. My wife and
- 30:54Speaker 2: I do that. We separate it. We put all the
- 30:57Speaker 2: cardboard on the bottom, and then I put all the
- 31:00Speaker 2: recyclables on top for anybody that wants to come by
- 31:03Speaker 2: and grab them. They don't have to dig through everything,
- 31:06Speaker 2: because to me, those people look like they're I don't know,
- 31:11Speaker 2: busting their hump trying. Yeah I do, but it's in
- 31:15Speaker 2: a bag on top. It's separated already for them to
- 31:19Speaker 2: take and grab if they wanted, without having to go
- 31:21Speaker 2: through the trash. I don't know. I see it as
- 31:24Speaker 2: a form of work. It's not like I see strung
- 31:26Speaker 2: out guys grabbing one or two, you know, now if
- 31:29Speaker 2: they go up. We have a long driveway, not a
- 31:33Speaker 2: fancy home by any stretch, but no, it's a it's
- 31:37Speaker 2: it's just old school LA where they had these long
- 31:40Speaker 2: driving You have a long driveway and if somebody goes
- 31:43Speaker 2: up to the house, I'm like, no, Yeah, when you
- 31:47Speaker 2: start triggering security, I'm like, nah, you gotta you gotta book.
- 31:54Speaker 2: Uh So, screw them thieves. All right, it's Neil Savadra
- 31:58Speaker 2: in the Morning Crew. Happy New Year's Eve to you.
- 32:01Speaker 2: You'll have us all week as handles out. All right,
- 32:04Speaker 2: go nowhere. This is KFI heard everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
- 32:08Speaker 3: You've been listening to the Bill Handles Show.
