- 0:10Speaker 1: The great Mel Kuiper is with us. We are getting
- 0:12Speaker 1: close to the draft. Mel is laughing already. I haven't
- 0:15Speaker 1: even said anything. I'm right by his house. He doesn't
- 0:17Speaker 1: know that, but I'm coming to visit today.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Mel.
- 0:20Speaker 3: I am coming for you.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Have no room at the end for you.
- 0:24Speaker 1: At the Kuiper in the Mel's diner is full.
- 0:30Speaker 3: How is Mel Kuiper? You know, like a week and
- 0:33Speaker 3: a half out from the draft? Are you like? Are
- 0:35Speaker 3: you even more racketed up than you normally?
- 0:37Speaker 4: Are? You know what? I'm still talking, which is a
- 0:40Speaker 4: big thing at the stage of the game. The Boys
- 0:42Speaker 4: hasn't gone quite yet. Did the day before the draft
- 0:44Speaker 4: last year and I was able to recover somehow and
- 0:46Speaker 4: got it back in time for draft day. But no,
- 0:49Speaker 4: I'm trying to finalize the mock draft rounds one and two,
- 0:52Speaker 4: which is out Wednesday. Then the ratings, which is the
- 0:54Speaker 4: most important thing. Get my top one fifty in order,
- 0:57Speaker 4: while my positional rankings in order, and then so they
- 1:00Speaker 4: finish up with that next weekend. So I'm a week
- 1:02Speaker 4: away from that. I'm only a few days away from
- 1:04Speaker 4: finalizing mock draft, mock round one and also round two,
- 1:08Speaker 4: which makes it really interesting. We're trying to connect the
- 1:10Speaker 4: dots with the first and second round. But that'll all
- 1:12Speaker 4: be put to bed for me Sunday night. It goes
- 1:15Speaker 4: up Wednesday. Barring any late changes, I'll get to them
- 1:18Speaker 4: Monday and Tuesday, and that's it. I don't do any
- 1:20Speaker 4: morning of the draft. MOX have news and notes that morning,
- 1:23Speaker 4: but not no more mock draft. It ends on Wednesday.
- 1:26Speaker 3: That's the final draft. That's it.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Now, it's final draft. Yes, who's the player? Like, what's
- 1:31Speaker 1: the thing that's changed the most from.
- 1:32Speaker 3: The last mock draft to this mock draft? Now?
- 1:35Speaker 4: I think Caden Proctor is such a wild card. I mean,
- 1:38Speaker 4: the offensive tackle from Alabama. Yeah, you put him at
- 1:41Speaker 4: six to Cleveland. Do you drop him down in the twenties?
- 1:44Speaker 4: Nobody really has a handle one a kid who has
- 1:47Speaker 4: he has a talent to be Orlando Pace. But he
- 1:50Speaker 4: didn't play like that, you know he has. That's some inconsistencies.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Go back to the Florida State game that began the
- 1:54Speaker 4: year was tough. He figured he recovered from that and
- 1:57Speaker 4: he looked great at his pro day. So it makes
- 1:58Speaker 4: you think, boy guys are six seven, three fifty two,
- 2:01Speaker 4: they can move like him? When there's light on his feet,
- 2:04Speaker 4: as Caden Proctor is, so he can be as good
- 2:06Speaker 4: as he you know, as good cat. And Proctor wants
- 2:08Speaker 4: to be focus, maximize, don't be an underachiever in the NFL,
- 2:13Speaker 4: because that's how it is there for him to be
- 2:14Speaker 4: a Pro Bowl caliber left tackle.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Mel you know, you know the draft starts with my
- 2:19Speaker 2: Jets at two. But Jesus, the Jets have have four
- 2:23Speaker 2: of the top forty four picks, and I'm just not
- 2:26Speaker 2: excited about it this year because I'm looking at this
- 2:28Speaker 2: I'm looking at this.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Group of players and I'm going, yeah, they're they're good,
- 2:33Speaker 4: but there's there's nobody that's getting me excited. Now, change
- 2:35Speaker 4: my mind, please, you.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Want now to make you feel better? Is that what
- 2:38Speaker 3: you're saying?
- 2:40Speaker 4: He sees a scout, you know, he knows more than
- 2:44Speaker 4: everybody whatever, that right, I don't know everybody. You're out
- 2:49Speaker 4: there right off his draft as a D minus draft,
- 2:52Speaker 4: and there's nobody out there. Sometimes the drafts that sho
- 2:55Speaker 4: you think are really good, sometimes they fizzle once they're
- 2:58Speaker 4: in the league. And we said, why don't you overhype
- 2:59Speaker 4: that guy? You know, he didn't live up to the
- 3:01Speaker 4: to the all the potential he showed. So I think
- 3:03Speaker 4: it's this draft. You just got an every draft, Mikey,
- 3:06Speaker 4: and so you got to pick the right players. And
- 3:08Speaker 4: you're gonna go back and say there was a seventh
- 3:10Speaker 4: round or a couple seventh rounders that made in every
- 3:12Speaker 4: draft we cherry picked. We act like would have taken them.
- 3:15Speaker 4: That's a tough part of being a general manager. It's
- 3:17Speaker 4: easy to sit back in the cheap seats and say,
- 3:19Speaker 4: how'd you miss that guy? Why didn't you take him?
- 3:21Speaker 4: You only have one pick in each round. Say if
- 3:24Speaker 4: you just go seventy, then sometimes you have extra picks.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Let's say one pick in each round. You're debating three
- 3:28Speaker 4: or four guys. You pick one. You might have loved you.
- 3:32Speaker 4: He liked the other three just as much, but you
- 3:34Speaker 4: had to make a call. So if you're in the
- 3:36Speaker 4: cheap seats, you pick the one out of the four
- 3:39Speaker 4: and you talk about that guy, say I'm a genius.
- 3:41Speaker 4: But when you're a general manager, you can only pick
- 3:43Speaker 4: one if that guy doesn't pick. Three of those guys
- 3:46Speaker 4: that you didn't take might have been stars, but the
- 3:48Speaker 4: one you did take might have been a bust. And
- 3:50Speaker 4: you're considering an idiot. So that's the difference between being
- 3:53Speaker 4: in that GM chair and being where we are on
- 3:55Speaker 4: the outside looking in thinking we have all the answers
- 3:57Speaker 4: when we don't. And to me, that's that's why. Until
- 4:01Speaker 4: you're in there and know the pressure and know the debates,
- 4:05Speaker 4: you know, and then the one man it has to
- 4:07Speaker 4: make that final call, whether it's the head coach, general manager,
- 4:10Speaker 4: sometimes an owner, whoever it is, that's that's that's got
- 4:14Speaker 4: to be brutal because you're never just one guy. It's
- 4:17Speaker 4: always three or four guys just there right in the mix.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Mel You could tell him it's the greatest draft in
- 4:22Speaker 1: the history of drafts.
- 4:24Speaker 3: He just lacks faith in the Jets. That's all. That's
- 4:26Speaker 3: what it is.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Yet understandably, let's face it, there are at two, they're
- 4:33Speaker 4: at sixteen, and they're at thirty three. You know what
- 4:36Speaker 4: this does fast become If that last year was the
- 4:39Speaker 4: Shadora Draft, this is the Tie Simpson Draft, and you
- 4:43Speaker 4: know is Tie Simpson after thirty three picks are made,
- 4:47Speaker 4: going to be a New York Jet. That's what everybody
- 4:49Speaker 4: has wants to know, is somebody going to trade up
- 4:52Speaker 4: ahead of the Jets are just gonna wait what he
- 4:54Speaker 4: falls in their lap? Is he going to be available
- 4:56Speaker 4: for the other second round pick? Who tie Simps? And
- 5:00Speaker 4: right now is the guy when you ask the question
- 5:01Speaker 4: about who's the guy tough to project, I mentioned Kayden Proctor.
- 5:05Speaker 4: It's his teammate ty Simpson, because he's not if he's
- 5:08Speaker 4: not going to the Jets, which everybody seems to think
- 5:09Speaker 4: he's not at sixteen, and he doesn't look like he's
- 5:11Speaker 4: going to Pittsburgh at twenty one. If nobody trades back
- 5:14Speaker 4: into the latter portion of round one to get him,
- 5:17Speaker 4: though you're gonna have to give up picks. Then is
- 5:19Speaker 4: he's there at thirty three and the Jets? And I
- 5:22Speaker 4: asked Rich Semina, who covers the Jets does their phenomenal
- 5:24Speaker 4: job of knowing Rich forever. He said, it would be
- 5:27Speaker 4: interesting at thirty three. Interesting, I mean it's a slam dunk.
- 5:30Speaker 4: It's just interesting. So we'll see where ty Simpson ends up, because,
- 5:34Speaker 4: like I say, other teams like Arizona, everybody talks about
- 5:36Speaker 4: the Rams. Rams if they had the late first round pick,
- 5:38Speaker 4: maybe they would not say. I don't think at thirteen
- 5:41Speaker 4: you're taking ty Simpson When you're built for now, you
- 5:43Speaker 4: want to win. Now, yes, with Matthew Stafford. You don't
- 5:46Speaker 4: want to take Matthew Stafford's air apparent. When you get
- 5:48Speaker 4: a whole filler at pick number thirteen, where I'm talking
- 5:51Speaker 4: about wide receiver like Mackay Lemon or Jordan Tyson, somebody
- 5:54Speaker 4: like that, you don't take the quarterback that's maybe gonna
- 5:57Speaker 4: be good and maybe be the air parent of Matthew
- 5:59Speaker 4: Stafford at thirteen.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Uh, Well, if I put you at the draft right now,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and I wish I could do that, But if I
- 6:04Speaker 1: put you there and the Jets did take Simpson at sixteen,
- 6:06Speaker 1: your reaction would be what.
- 6:08Speaker 4: I thought that could happen a while ago. I don't
- 6:11Speaker 4: think it's gonna happen. You know, if it did happen
- 6:15Speaker 4: like you just suggested, I wouldn't say it's an awful pick.
- 6:18Speaker 4: I know Mikey would slant it's horrible. I'll take Ty
- 6:20Speaker 4: Simpson at sixteen. I said that, And you know when
- 6:23Speaker 4: you say stuff sometimes you have to kind of rethink.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I say, you really want to love that guy at sixteen.
- 6:28Speaker 4: I think you gotta love Ty Simpson. I really do.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Now you get into it at thirty three if you
- 6:33Speaker 4: like them. But you say there's still something missing. There's
- 6:36Speaker 4: gonna be something missing at sixteen and something missing at
- 6:38Speaker 4: thirty three.
- 6:39Speaker 3: It's to say, what you.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Didn't like at sixteen, you're still not gonna like at
- 6:42Speaker 4: thirty three, Right, I say, at thirty three, I'll take
- 6:45Speaker 4: a shot. I'll take a shot and it doesn't work out,
- 6:48Speaker 4: and I don't see enough this year. I'll go get
- 6:51Speaker 4: the quarterback next year. I get that. But at sixteen,
- 6:53Speaker 4: you gotta love them. It's like the Boomers bring up
- 6:56Speaker 4: with a Boomer probably hates me more than he ever has.
- 6:58Speaker 4: I mean, we got a lot great Boomer. I don't
- 6:59Speaker 4: like me anymore because I talk about him every year
- 7:01Speaker 4: about this. He went in the second round after they
- 7:04Speaker 4: took three players in the first round. They love Boomer.
- 7:07Speaker 4: If you love Boomer, these three picks weren't in the
- 7:09Speaker 4: top fifteen guys. They were. One was a top ten pick,
- 7:12Speaker 4: one was around twenty and one was around twenty eight.
- 7:16Speaker 4: And they didn't take Boomer. They took him in the
- 7:18Speaker 4: second round. Helped that turn out. A couple of the
- 7:20Speaker 4: guys went in the first robust, but they took say
- 7:22Speaker 4: they liked them, they didn't love them, you know, everybody
- 7:25Speaker 4: loved Steve Young. They didn't love Boomer.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I did.
- 7:27Speaker 4: I had Boomer in front on the front page of
- 7:29Speaker 4: my cover. He was the nineteen eighty four Draft report.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Wow.
- 7:33Speaker 4: We talked to Boomer that year. I was telling him
- 7:34Speaker 4: about Johnny and Nightis and Dan Fous. Don't don't worry Boomer,
- 7:37Speaker 4: You'll prove him wrong. Boomer didn't want to hear any
- 7:39Speaker 4: of that nonsense, like, shut the hell up, Typer. I
- 7:41Speaker 4: don't want to hear that up. I'm not happy right now.
- 7:44Speaker 4: So he came into a little ship, and look what happened.
- 7:46Speaker 4: So the love and like thing I think matters in
- 7:48Speaker 4: the first round. From that, from the second round one,
- 7:50Speaker 4: it probably doesn't matter. Liking probably is good enough at
- 7:52Speaker 4: that point.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Well, on draft night, what do you think the floor
- 7:55Speaker 3: is for Jeremiah Love.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Jeremiah Love is, in my opinion, either one or two.
- 8:00Speaker 4: I put him at two because I really love Mendoza.
- 8:02Speaker 4: But you can put him at one and put Mendoza too.
- 8:04Speaker 4: He's the arguably the best player in the draft. People say, well,
- 8:08Speaker 4: we don't take a running back. I said that thirty
- 8:11Speaker 4: years ago, when people don't me, I was an idiot.
- 8:13Speaker 4: So now I'm saying, Okay, I think you're idiots. You
- 8:17Speaker 4: don't think idiots because running backs are done. The last
- 8:23Speaker 4: bust in the top ten, I think was Trent Richardson
- 8:25Speaker 4: a while ago to Cleveland. It picked number three. All
- 8:27Speaker 4: those other running backs that have gone have been really,
- 8:29Speaker 4: really good, and people say, well, they're second team. Some are.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Some aren't thinking about the Super Bowl last couple of years. Right,
- 8:35Speaker 4: you know who keyed these teams? A running back? Did?
- 8:37Speaker 4: Kenneth Walker? Did Saquon So to me and I get it.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Pachecko was a seventh round pick. Jeremiah Love was just
- 8:44Speaker 4: a running back. He would not be viewed that high
- 8:47Speaker 4: and I wouldn't be advocating for him. He's a wide receiver,
- 8:51Speaker 4: he's a slot receiver. He didn't fumble. He's a game breaker,
- 8:54Speaker 4: he's a weapon. I always say weapon equals what, guys,
- 8:57Speaker 4: Weapons equal winning. You got enough weapons, you win, right?
- 9:00Speaker 4: And anything? Weapons equal winning. I want Jeremiah Love on
- 9:04Speaker 4: my team if I'm Tennessee at for, I don't know
- 9:07Speaker 4: how you pass them up. If he gets down to
- 9:09Speaker 4: seven to Washington. Now, I didn't want to Tennessee at
- 9:11Speaker 4: for A Adam Schefter who knows that a lot more
- 9:13Speaker 4: about inside the NFL than I do. Sure he said
- 9:16Speaker 4: I was wrong. Tennessee is not taking Jeremiah Love at four.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I got another mock coming at him. I gonna I'll
- 9:23Speaker 4: go back to Adam. Do you still think that Adam?
- 9:25Speaker 4: I'm calling Adham this weekend, Okay, tomorrow or Sunday because
- 9:29Speaker 4: he said no one Tennessee. That means you said, well,
- 9:32Speaker 4: if it's not Jeremia Love, who would it be. Probably
- 9:34Speaker 4: Sonny Styles, linebacker from Ohio State, who Robert Salah will
- 9:38Speaker 4: see Fred Warner. Who's the comp And I hate comps
- 9:40Speaker 4: and I'll like the Fred Warner comp to uh Sunny
- 9:44Speaker 4: Styles if he sees that. He said, I could put
- 9:46Speaker 4: him next to Cedria Gray. By the way, Taylor, you
- 9:48Speaker 4: know Cedria Gray, right linebacker with a North Carolina held
- 9:51Speaker 4: but doing a really good job with Tennessee. Put him
- 9:54Speaker 4: next to Cedria Gray. And all of a sudden, Robert
- 9:56Speaker 4: Sallas says, now I got a defense that can compliment
- 9:59Speaker 4: cam Ward all the things we got going there. So
- 10:01Speaker 4: there's a debate if you're Tennessee. Three years from now,
- 10:04Speaker 4: we're saying, where's Jeremiah Love and where is Sunny Styles?
- 10:08Speaker 4: Because Tennessee a lot's gonna hinge on that pick to
- 10:11Speaker 4: see where Tennessee is a couple of years from now
- 10:12Speaker 4: in terms, so we are able to jump into that
- 10:14Speaker 4: playoff contention.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I'm not certain I've ever seen Taylor so happy.
- 10:18Speaker 1: He hasn't been this happy since Sally was hosting the
- 10:20Speaker 1: show yesterday.
- 10:21Speaker 3: I mean, it's.
- 10:23Speaker 1: But Mel just having a conversation, although it was a
- 10:25Speaker 1: one way conversation.
- 10:26Speaker 3: I remember he.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Went to Carolina, although there's a Carolina held it behind him.
- 10:30Speaker 4: The braid by me, I might have been wrong, but
- 10:33Speaker 4: I gave him a draftable grade. I said it'd be successful.
- 10:37Speaker 4: I didn't know it was going to be as next
- 10:38Speaker 4: to you guys. I thought it might be on football,
- 10:40Speaker 4: So I was successful. Hey, as long as these guys
- 10:43Speaker 4: making it broadcasting and I missed on them, I'm still okay.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Maybe there's a broadcaster. I gave him a high grade. Hey,
- 10:49Speaker 4: they might have been a disappointment in terms of the NFL,
- 10:51Speaker 4: and I had a few like that guys that didn't
- 10:53Speaker 4: develop in the NFL but became great broadcasters. I'm okay.
- 10:57Speaker 4: I said to be successful. I didn't tell you what
- 10:58Speaker 4: it was going to be in.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Yeah, Taylor, send them the highlight reel from your flag football.
- 11:05Speaker 3: I thought, break you down.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Yeah, and Mikey, Mikey saw it, and Mikey told me
- 11:09Speaker 4: he gave him an undrafted grade. Part of it. Don't
- 11:14Speaker 4: even don't even come to my camp what Mikey said.
- 11:17Speaker 4: I thought Taylor had a.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Shot, right, Yes he did. You believed that, no one
- 11:22Speaker 3: else did. Mel. I believe me and you Mel.
- 11:26Speaker 1: But your original point about the running back is such
- 11:28Speaker 1: a good one, because yes, the Seahawks were led by
- 11:31Speaker 1: a running back. Yes, the running back won Super Bowl MVP.
- 11:33Speaker 1: But Mel, they got rid of him in the off season.
- 11:36Speaker 1: He's with the Kansas City Chiefs. They didn't think highly
- 11:38Speaker 1: enough of Kenneth Walker to pay him the big dollars
- 11:41Speaker 1: they needed to keep Kenneth Walker.
- 11:43Speaker 3: So I think you're right about the running back.
- 11:44Speaker 1: It has to be a special type of player who
- 11:46Speaker 1: could do multiple things for you.
- 11:48Speaker 4: And Kenneth Walker was the second round pick, so you know,
- 11:51Speaker 4: you think about you think about the year where Kansas
- 11:54Speaker 4: City took Clyde Edwards Hilaire in the first round and
- 11:57Speaker 4: last pick in the first round. This is where you
- 11:59Speaker 4: can attack a different ways. They took him last picking.
- 12:01Speaker 4: You knew they passed up when they took him, and
- 12:03Speaker 4: he always you talk about Super Bowl. He was there,
- 12:05Speaker 4: so he did his good job. But they passed up
- 12:07Speaker 4: DeAndre Swift and Jonathan Taylor and they went in the
- 12:10Speaker 4: second round. So two really good backs went in the
- 12:12Speaker 4: second round. Jonathan Taylor, remember I had the funneling issue
- 12:14Speaker 4: at Wisconsin, dropped to the second round. Then they come back,
- 12:16Speaker 4: they get they get Pachecko from Rutgers. He's a Super
- 12:19Speaker 4: Bowl run. So you had a first, a thirty second pick,
- 12:21Speaker 4: seventh round pick. They don't. But you got Patrick Mahomes.
- 12:23Speaker 4: You can win with anybody, right, they running us right
- 12:25Speaker 4: if you got Patrick Mahomes healthy. So Kansas City's kind
- 12:28Speaker 4: of an outlier in that regard, but that was always
- 12:30Speaker 4: my fuck. You know. The running back that got that
- 12:32Speaker 4: whole philosophy going way back in the day was Thurman
- 12:34Speaker 4: Thomas Therma. Thomas was a second round pick out of
- 12:37Speaker 4: Oklahoma State. Well, talent should have been a first, but
- 12:39Speaker 4: he has some injury issues, right, concerns about durability dropped
- 12:43Speaker 4: it the second round. What are we talking about? Jordan
- 12:45Speaker 4: Tyson at Arizona saying durability I don't care. See, it's football.
- 12:49Speaker 4: You can get hurt, then you can get hurt in
- 12:51Speaker 4: another year. You're gonna get hurt. That's football, right, It's durability.
- 12:54Speaker 4: You think once they're in the NFL they don't have
- 12:56Speaker 4: durab they're gonna hurt. So unfortunately, that's the nature of
- 12:58Speaker 4: the game. So when you look at that, Thurman Thomas,
- 13:01Speaker 4: when I looked at it, I said, Okay, let's see
- 13:02Speaker 4: how many running backs starting in the NFL went from
- 13:06Speaker 4: the second round on at that point, I believe it
- 13:07Speaker 4: was twenty out of thirty two. There were key guys
- 13:10Speaker 4: at running backs, starters that went in the second round on.
- 13:12Speaker 4: If you can find guys like that, I'm thinking that
- 13:15Speaker 4: I read it every year and I did that. Analytics.
- 13:17Speaker 4: I call it analytics because it lies, but it doesn't
- 13:20Speaker 4: lie about that, right. It's been a funny story. I'm
- 13:22Speaker 4: mentioned on one of these shows analytics and now it's
- 13:26Speaker 4: called analytics. No crap, I know what it's called. I'm
- 13:31Speaker 4: trying to say a little play on words, is analytics.
- 13:36Speaker 4: You know. Guy's corrected me like I didn't know how
- 13:37Speaker 4: to pronounce analytics. I mean, now they come on, it's
- 13:41Speaker 4: analytics in some cases. Right, Yeah, running backs, I've written that,
- 13:47Speaker 4: I've been said, the bandwag or whatever you want to
- 13:49Speaker 4: call it is full, and now people are there's no room.
- 13:53Speaker 4: I already jumped off because now I'm kind of back
- 13:56Speaker 4: on this running back thing. But they got to be
- 13:58Speaker 4: one word. They got to be versatile, they got to
- 14:00Speaker 4: be multi talented. And Love's teammate Jadari and Price, who
- 14:02Speaker 4: I really like, is a running back boy. He had
- 14:04Speaker 4: acts that line of scrimmage, he goes, He's got game
- 14:07Speaker 4: breaking ability returns kicks, but he had some fumbles, crucial
- 14:10Speaker 4: fumbles both years. He also had limited opportunities catching the ball.
- 14:14Speaker 4: So he's probably a second round pick or he's great.
- 14:17Speaker 4: He's great for me as a second for that reason
- 14:19Speaker 4: if he was back at Notre Dame catching all those
- 14:21Speaker 4: balls and then you got him up there. But for
- 14:23Speaker 4: right now, Jadarian Price excellent running back. Canny be more
- 14:26Speaker 4: more multi dimensional in the NFL as a receiver and

- 16:16Speaker 5: zero seven eight six seven In Louisiana, Bell, I'm looking
- 16:33Speaker 5: at this wide receiver draft class.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It reminds me a lot of twenty twenty, where you
- 16:37Speaker 2: had rugs, you had Judy, you had LAMB, and it
- 16:41Speaker 2: seemed like everybody had them in different orders and they
- 16:44Speaker 2: were all going in different places. And I'm looking at Lemon,
- 16:46Speaker 2: Tyson and Tate, and I've seen them go in in
- 16:50Speaker 2: every which way they could go. How do you have
- 16:52Speaker 2: them stacking up in this draft?
- 16:54Speaker 4: I haven't finalized that yet, And I said that a
- 16:56Speaker 4: couple of weeks, so you can put them on a
- 16:57Speaker 4: hat and pick out of that, and any order you
- 16:59Speaker 4: come up with, I don't know anybody could argue with,
- 17:02Speaker 4: you know, one, two, and three of those three guys,
- 17:04Speaker 4: and I see it all over the why because Lemon
- 17:06Speaker 4: is a baller, he's a fierce competitor, but he's not
- 17:09Speaker 4: going to test great right Kate, great polish character, blocks catches,
- 17:15Speaker 4: but is he explosive enough. And then you got Tyson,
- 17:19Speaker 4: who is explosive, looks the part, but he had the
- 17:22Speaker 4: injury concerns. He said we had a few drops. Well,
- 17:25Speaker 4: receivers will drop a pass every now and then the
- 17:27Speaker 4: end of the day. I go back a few years
- 17:29Speaker 4: ago when we had Jackson Smith and Jigba, Zay Flowers,
- 17:33Speaker 4: Jordan Addison and Quinton Johnston. We had four they were
- 17:36Speaker 4: all a bunched together. There were those that I respect
- 17:39Speaker 4: that said none of those four should be first round picks.
- 17:41Speaker 4: How'd that work out? That? That was a comment that
- 17:43Speaker 4: didn't turn out to be correct. Three of those four
- 17:45Speaker 4: are big hiss you know, Jackson Smith and Jigba is
- 17:48Speaker 4: one of the best in the league one offensive side
- 17:50Speaker 4: of the ball day. Flowers doing a great job in Baltimore,
- 17:53Speaker 4: and you see what Addison peton Minnesota and Johnston is
- 17:55Speaker 4: inconsistency with the catching the football, but still a talent.
- 17:58Speaker 4: So for me, they all went around at Mark. So
- 18:00Speaker 4: if you say the receivers could drop a little bit,
- 18:03Speaker 4: and I had Lemon going twenty three to Cleveland or
- 18:05Speaker 4: twenty four to Cleveland a couple weeks ago, people say,
- 18:06Speaker 4: are you crazy, some one of these receivers may drop.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Something is gonna be Tyson. I don't Lemon could possibly
- 18:13Speaker 4: the receiver that you know. I like him, I don't
- 18:15Speaker 4: love him. Is Omar Cooper Junior. Some love this kid
- 18:18Speaker 4: out of Indiana. Back on the season, I'm thinking, boy,
- 18:21Speaker 4: I like him. He runs hard after the catch, he's
- 18:24Speaker 4: catching a ball. He had a couple drops in the
- 18:26Speaker 4: Maryland game, I believe it was. And then you saw him,
- 18:28Speaker 4: you know, run great, but he didn't show super explosiveness.
- 18:31Speaker 4: But he's a good player. I thought third and I said,
- 18:33Speaker 4: I'm gonna get him in a second round. I like Omar.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Now here are these mid first round things, and that's
- 18:38Speaker 4: when you say, WHOA. I had him in a second.
- 18:40Speaker 4: Now I'm seeing sixteen to the Jets, and then Field
- 18:43Speaker 4: Yeates is telling me, oh, he's gonna go in the
- 18:45Speaker 4: first round. Okay for a mock draft, I'm gonna listen
- 18:48Speaker 4: to that. I don't have him grated as the first,
- 18:49Speaker 4: but Omar Cooper Junior has kind of jumped into that mix.
- 18:52Speaker 4: So to me, to answer your question about the receivers,
- 18:55Speaker 4: any one of those three that you put number one
- 18:58Speaker 4: on your board, I don't know anybody could have an
- 18:59Speaker 4: army with it.
- 19:01Speaker 5: Well, do you think Casey concepts you and can play
- 19:03Speaker 5: his way into the first round.
- 19:05Speaker 4: He's in that first round mix. He's in that first
- 19:07Speaker 4: round mixes a slot receiver return man. Now, he had
- 19:10Speaker 4: some drops, but he would always come back from that jobs.
- 19:13Speaker 4: If a shortstop makes an er in the first inning,
- 19:15Speaker 4: doesn't haunt him. And he has three errors, you know, No,
- 19:18Speaker 4: you know, I saw Gunnar Henderson that era O of
- 19:20Speaker 4: the Year. It ain't a bought a gunner, right, So
- 19:22Speaker 4: the great ones shake it off. Casey concept show had
- 19:26Speaker 4: some drops, it was seven total this year, but he
- 19:29Speaker 4: bounced back and he would not let it hamper him
- 19:32Speaker 4: or get into his mind the rest of that game.
- 19:34Speaker 4: So like the kid he was, I saw him as
- 19:36Speaker 4: a truth what I do with my books. I had
- 19:38Speaker 4: the depth charts on Saturday and I put like all
- 19:41Speaker 4: kinds of marks. You see books all marked up with
- 19:43Speaker 4: I see a guy who is and I circle him,
- 19:45Speaker 4: I exd him, I put a star. And those are
- 19:48Speaker 4: the true freshmen that really catch your eye and skin.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Soona was Kevin concept show, and then Casey became he
- 19:53Speaker 4: was a guy at NC State really wallaje over as
- 19:56Speaker 4: a true freshman that ends up at A and M So, yes,
- 19:59Speaker 4: he's probably. I'd say it's about a seventy five percent chance,
- 20:03Speaker 4: Taylor that he goes in the late first round. And
- 20:05Speaker 4: you say, ooh, the forty nine ers. You got Miami there.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Now you know you've got teams that could go that route.
- 20:11Speaker 4: In New England, there's a lot of teams that could
- 20:13Speaker 4: look at case conception because he also was a heck
- 20:15Speaker 4: of a punt returner. So I'll say late first round
- 20:17Speaker 4: for him.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Mikeya, how much would you pay for one of those
- 20:20Speaker 1: marked up mel Kiper draft books?
- 20:22Speaker 3: I mean, just.
- 20:27Speaker 4: I got I got. We're good friends with Prosper trading guys,
- 20:30Speaker 4: Kim and I are. They're great, Charlie Moon, Scott Bauer Pine,
- 20:34Speaker 4: and they sent me these big blue Prosper Trading notebooks.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Kim got one. I got one. I took Kim, so
- 20:40Speaker 4: I said, give me that because during the year, I
- 20:42Speaker 4: don't have to bring in here. Now every week I
- 20:44Speaker 4: have one Kim. It was the week two, week three,
- 20:47Speaker 4: and I just finished one book. One. I got through
- 20:50Speaker 4: one book through the year. I made sure one book was.
- 20:53Speaker 4: I got my second book, which was Kim sitting there.
- 20:55Speaker 4: So Charlie and Scott sent me a couple more books.
- 20:57Speaker 4: The Prosper Trading books are phenomenal. But that's what I have,
- 20:59Speaker 4: all my notes and from the week. So what do
- 21:01Speaker 4: I do now, Guys, when we're hearing all this stuff
- 21:04Speaker 4: about pro day's and combine, I go back to that.
- 21:06Speaker 4: It is a blue book, actually blue, and my book
- 21:09Speaker 4: back in the day was blue. The draft board was.
- 21:11Speaker 4: I go back that. I see, because you forget during
- 21:13Speaker 4: the year, the note you had and who you liked,
- 21:16Speaker 4: you get you get gotta get lost in space here
- 21:18Speaker 4: with all the stuff going on. You you say, boys,
- 21:20Speaker 4: too many opinions? How about this guy? Yeah, how about
- 21:23Speaker 4: that guy? I remember Max tom Zach. Max tom Zach
- 21:26Speaker 4: got a Youngstown saying I kind of liked them. I
- 21:28Speaker 4: got to put him in where he has a seventh
- 21:30Speaker 4: round pick. When undrafted free agent. I'm gonna put him
- 21:32Speaker 4: in a nice range here. I'm not gonna forget about
- 21:34Speaker 4: Max Tomzak, who I liked as an orange crutcher for
- 21:36Speaker 4: me back in October coming out of Youngstown State. I
- 21:39Speaker 4: go back to those notes, and I did it the
- 21:40Speaker 4: other day, and I'm telling you what, guys, you realize, boy,
- 21:44Speaker 4: you might have You really lucky you had those notes
- 21:46Speaker 4: because you kind of forgot about some guys that you
- 21:48Speaker 4: If you trust what you saw when the games were
- 21:51Speaker 4: being played, trust what your eyes told you, and what
- 21:53Speaker 4: we do. We always do that exercise for a reason.
- 21:56Speaker 4: If if I'm not going to go back and look
- 21:58Speaker 4: at that book, what the hell am I sitting there
- 21:59Speaker 4: on watching these games? Write those notes down for right?
- 22:02Speaker 4: So you gotta go back. You can't forget about what
- 22:04Speaker 4: you spent all those hours on Saturday and Sunday doing.
- 22:07Speaker 4: At this time of the.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Year, Mel, I have one more draft question than I
- 22:11Speaker 2: want to hear about Grandpa Mel and orange crushes. But
- 22:15Speaker 2: nobody watches more film than you mail, So I'm curious,
- 22:18Speaker 2: as you're watching film for this draft class, who's the
- 22:21Speaker 2: guy that stole the show? Every time you put on
- 22:23Speaker 2: you put on the team. Do you put on the
- 22:25Speaker 2: tape to watch this quarterback and this guy you can't
- 22:28Speaker 2: take your eyes off him. You go to watch this
- 22:30Speaker 2: tape and you can't stop watching it.
- 22:32Speaker 4: The other guy, I'll tell you all year. For me,
- 22:36Speaker 4: it was Sunny Styles, and Sunny Styles jumped out at
- 22:41Speaker 4: you because he was so much improved in terms of tackling,
- 22:45Speaker 4: and that was the question coming into the year. It
- 22:47Speaker 4: was a former safety had some issues with mistackles in
- 22:50Speaker 4: twenty twenty four. Then I'm watching them in the Texas game. Remember,
- 22:54Speaker 4: Arch Manning was supposed to go to Columbus and win
- 22:56Speaker 4: that game. And Arch Manning was supposed to be the
- 22:57Speaker 4: number one pick in this draft. Or Arch was supposed
- 22:59Speaker 4: want to high been in leed Texas to a national title. Right,
- 23:01Speaker 4: he was supposed to hit the trifecta. Who hit the trifecta?
- 23:04Speaker 4: Fernando Mendoza did, right, But Arch was supposed to be
- 23:07Speaker 4: that guy first game at Columbus who got the best
- 23:10Speaker 4: of them the Ohio State defense did with Matt Patricia right,
- 23:13Speaker 4: Sonny Styles. Arvo Reeves had a sack in that game too,
- 23:16Speaker 4: But Sonny Styles throughout the year kept saying, okay, let's
- 23:18Speaker 4: see if the mistackles end. He eliminated mistackles guys, then
- 23:23Speaker 4: he tests I'd say, off the charge, freakish, rare to
- 23:27Speaker 4: do what he did in a workout. So for me,
- 23:30Speaker 4: when you watched him, it was a guy that they
- 23:32Speaker 4: had him playing all over and he was so he
- 23:34Speaker 4: closed so quickly like a cat. That boy, Sonny Styles
- 23:38Speaker 4: really was that player. I think on the defensive side. Well,
- 23:40Speaker 4: that's what I say for the jetsu too. You got
- 23:42Speaker 4: to consider him for Tennessee at forty have doing if
- 23:44Speaker 4: he's there for Washington, you have to Sonny Styles is
- 23:46Speaker 4: if you say, suppose you were arguably you could put
- 23:49Speaker 4: him as the second best player in this draft. You
- 23:51Speaker 4: could say he was the best player in this draft,
- 23:52Speaker 4: and nobody would have a problem with that. I don't believe.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Now, who's the best left tackle in the draft.
- 23:59Speaker 4: That's a great question because I don't think you can
- 24:02Speaker 4: really feel confident about the answer. I think it should
- 24:05Speaker 4: be Caden Procter. But the inconsistencies with focus and concentration,
- 24:10Speaker 4: lapses with penalties, letting guys that you shouldn't have beat
- 24:13Speaker 4: you beat you, and I call them aogs. There are
- 24:15Speaker 4: another occupation guys, they're not going to be playing in
- 24:18Speaker 4: the NFL, and you're if you can't handle them, are
- 24:20Speaker 4: you going to? Now he did handle those guys ninety
- 24:23Speaker 4: percent of the time. But you can't have concentration lapses
- 24:26Speaker 4: in the NFL. You can't. So you got to play
- 24:28Speaker 4: up to that talent. You got to be focused every snap.
- 24:31Speaker 4: If he can do that, Kateen Procter is the best
- 24:33Speaker 4: left tackle one potential in another year based on coaching.
- 24:37Speaker 4: These offensive line coaches are the most critical aspect of
- 24:39Speaker 4: a football team at any level. Monroe Frieling from George
- 24:43Speaker 4: is the guy if you had the old LT Piers
- 24:46Speaker 4: I call him, look the part guys as a left
- 24:47Speaker 4: tackle would be Monroe Freeling. The size, the length of feet,
- 24:50Speaker 4: did good in past bro struggle a little bit as
- 24:52Speaker 4: a run blocker, but got better only seventeen starts. I
- 24:55Speaker 4: wish he had another year because any would have been
- 24:57Speaker 4: a top two three pick. Somebody's gonna get Monroe feel
- 25:00Speaker 4: if you can develop him, and the offensive line coach
- 25:02Speaker 4: is gonna be I'm gonna grade that offensive line coach
- 25:04Speaker 4: in three years. Whoever draft them their O line coach,
- 25:07Speaker 4: how did he do with Monroe? Freeling because that has
- 25:09Speaker 4: a chance to be really, really good.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Wait, so you're grading the line coach down?
- 25:13Speaker 4: Hey, I said, hey, I said this about Tyler Smith
- 25:17Speaker 4: when he came out. Said wow, there's.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Another penalty of Tyler Smith.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Right, wow, another penalty. That's what happened to Tulsa.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:23Speaker 4: They needed to fix that, eliminate the penalties, which is
- 25:26Speaker 4: usually concentration lapses, whatever you want to call it. Tyler
- 25:29Speaker 4: Smith became a Dallas cowboy. You don't hear about many
- 25:33Speaker 4: problems with penalties anymore. Mentioned Jonathan Taylor? Why did he
- 25:36Speaker 4: drop to the second round? Had fumbling issues? Don't see
- 25:38Speaker 4: that anymore? Right, you got to talk about when drafte
- 25:40Speaker 4: Why a guy dropped? What does he have to fix? Okay,
- 25:44Speaker 4: we ought to fix something. You guys ought to fix
- 25:46Speaker 4: something to get where you are. You're all stars, but
- 25:47Speaker 4: you were you gotta fix something to get where you
- 25:49Speaker 4: are on the air, right, what are you fixing? What's
- 25:52Speaker 4: going to be? Fi? Well, the offensive line coach work
- 25:54Speaker 4: with Monroe Frilling to make him a great left tackle.
- 25:57Speaker 4: We'll see, right.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I love you grading the coaches after the take guys
- 26:00Speaker 1: that you love.
- 26:01Speaker 3: It's so good, Please do it that's awesome.
- 26:11Speaker 5: How sustainable do you think Taylor Ward started for the
- 26:14Speaker 5: Orioles batting three eighty three question?
- 26:16Speaker 3: That is a good question.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Look at him, light up, Look at him light up.
- 26:21Speaker 4: I'm gonna say my favorite pitcher, Kyle Bradish. Sorry, you
- 26:24Speaker 4: get it the guys because Kyle's you had the Tommy
- 26:27Speaker 4: John surgery. You had a couple of early starts where
- 26:29Speaker 4: he had some struggles. Rogers has been like you was
- 26:32Speaker 4: last year, pretty much lights out. But the you know,
- 26:34Speaker 4: the pitching staff. I'm all big into pitching. I grew
- 26:37Speaker 4: up as a Baltimoreial fan with Palmer McNally, Quator and
- 26:39Speaker 4: Dops in the fourth twenty game winners, which we'll never
- 26:41Speaker 4: ever see again. So I grew up in that era.
- 26:43Speaker 4: I hope he keeps it going. I the bats gunner
- 26:46Speaker 4: and the guys there in the line, So I'm I'm
- 26:48Speaker 4: a pitching guy. You gotta have a great pitching and
- 26:51Speaker 4: I'm hoping a wild card as possible. We were all
- 26:54Speaker 4: hoping that this year. We'll see I'm not conceding anything
- 26:57Speaker 4: to the Yankees, but hey, I'm realistic. At best, you're
- 27:00Speaker 4: a possible wild card and we'll see what happens, but
- 27:02Speaker 4: let's hope it can stay whereas it was jumping around.
- 27:05Speaker 4: What is it now? You say three eighty three eighty three? Okay, yeah,
- 27:11Speaker 4: I'll be happy if it stays around three hundred.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Okay, right, more.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Way, guys, this is this analytics nonsense, right? Can you
- 27:18Speaker 4: just gim me a batty average home runs and analytics smell? Yeah,
- 27:23Speaker 4: RBIs and RBIs. Remember today I said, I said, it's
- 27:26Speaker 4: it's Ribby's. It's not Ribby. So I said it's not staking, right.
- 27:30Speaker 4: So when I started saying RB, I S and RB,
- 27:32Speaker 4: I said, I think we're getting to a problematic part
- 27:34Speaker 4: time period here, right. That started to go.
- 27:37Speaker 3: And go and go.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Now we got oh this, i'm LTP or this, I
- 27:40Speaker 4: got all that stuff. You got it. I don't know
- 27:42Speaker 4: what the heck they're talking about. You just give me
- 27:44Speaker 4: home runs, RBIs, batting average, give me that, Yeah, I
- 27:49Speaker 4: mean all this other stuff, I don't know what the
- 27:50Speaker 4: hell are talking about. So I don't know what. I
- 27:52Speaker 4: can't relate to those numbers. Can you give me a
- 27:54Speaker 4: historical perspective? Because it didn't exist in the sixty seventies
- 27:57Speaker 4: and eighties, I don't give a dag going about that crap.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Just give me what I want to see that I
- 28:01Speaker 4: can just the past years because I'm old. I remember
- 28:04Speaker 4: the sixties. Maybe these kids that do analytic stone, I do,
- 28:07Speaker 4: but I can't compare anything at else. Say it.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I love you, Taylor, Jeez, Taylor, do me a favor
- 28:14Speaker 2: and cut that next time we do.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Do me a favor on the radio show.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Just play that.
- 28:17Speaker 3: That's what I want.
- 28:19Speaker 4: Mel. Quick story for you.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I went to see our friend Frank Caliendo live up
- 28:25Speaker 2: here in Connecticut, and at the end of his set,
- 28:28Speaker 2: he said, you know, a lot of people come out,
- 28:30Speaker 2: they expect to hear certain impersonations, and I like to
- 28:33Speaker 2: leave a few minutes so that we could do whatever
- 28:35Speaker 2: you want. So whatever you guys want, shout it out,
- 28:38Speaker 2: and I swear to you mail ninety five percent of
- 28:40Speaker 2: the place all yelled out in Unison at the same
- 28:43Speaker 2: time Mel Kuiper, and we goes, well for those of
- 28:46Speaker 2: you who don't know who Mel Kuiper is, and everybody went,
- 28:48Speaker 2: we all know.
- 28:51Speaker 5: And then he gave me seventeen todds in a row.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Give at least ten minutes of that, right, you say,
- 28:57Speaker 4: don't GI, give me ten minutes on an answer, I think, Frank,
- 28:59Speaker 4: well give me ten minutes, and he sorted and Todd
- 29:03Speaker 4: and Todd is I will tell you to this day
- 29:05Speaker 4: if you get time. That he hates that because he
- 29:07Speaker 4: goes every stadium he goes into. Now when he was
- 29:10Speaker 4: doing every stadium, he walks into him and he walks
- 29:12Speaker 4: around here yelling Tide, that was That was all Frank.
- 29:16Speaker 4: I had nothing to I did always say, which I
- 29:18Speaker 4: always do. Mikey knows this. I always say your name
- 29:21Speaker 4: a lot when I'm talking to you, all right, I
- 29:23Speaker 4: don't forget who I'm talking to. I like to talk
- 29:25Speaker 4: about their name, and its more than one on one
- 29:27Speaker 4: I always do. That's just just a habit, I guess right. Yes,
- 29:30Speaker 4: So Todd picked up on that, said, no, I've never
- 29:33Speaker 4: talked to anybody in my life man, and I don't
- 29:34Speaker 4: even like my name, Todd.
- 29:36Speaker 3: I don't like my name, and you say it all
- 29:37Speaker 3: the time.
- 29:38Speaker 4: That's why. So Frank picked up on that from.
- 29:44Speaker 3: He said Taylor's name.
- 29:45Speaker 1: He was he's still beaming, which is forty time.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Now, just quickly out here. You are the greatest check guy.
- 30:05Speaker 3: His work everywhere.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Yes, by the way, that man is amazing.
- 30:10Speaker 3: He loves you so much, Bell, you have to feel
- 30:12Speaker 3: saying about him.
- 30:14Speaker 1: It's flattering when he does that, right, you don't care,
- 30:16Speaker 1: I mean, you don't take yourself that seriously.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Whatever you guys can make me look like the clown shows,
- 30:21Speaker 4: I probably am most of the time, and I'm happy
- 30:23Speaker 4: to see it. Okay, I'm happy to see it.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Scathing.
- 30:26Speaker 4: There's not a scathing article I haven't seen. So anything
- 30:29Speaker 4: you tailor. If you want to write a bad article
- 30:31Speaker 4: about me, you want to do it. It can't be
- 30:34Speaker 4: a worst paille or anything I've ever seen over the
- 30:36Speaker 4: last fifty years. Okay, he would never. I'm kind of
- 30:39Speaker 4: like oblivious to it. Nothing. The bruises are all here.
- 30:43Speaker 4: You can't bruise me anymore. Okay, I'm bruised and battered,
- 30:46Speaker 4: so nothing scathing can come out any worse than I've
- 30:49Speaker 4: seeing over the last fifty years.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Did you get down to Florida for spring trading? We
- 30:53Speaker 3: missed you. Did you get down there?
- 30:55Speaker 4: The schedule would not allow it to. I say this,
- 30:59Speaker 4: I told you this one of my bucket list right
- 31:02Speaker 4: back of the day. They would a bucke list. I'd say,
- 31:04Speaker 4: one of your bucket list. Things to do is be
- 31:06Speaker 4: it spring training?
- 31:07Speaker 3: Right?
- 31:07Speaker 4: Well, since I was eighteen, I've been doing the draft
- 31:10Speaker 4: stuff right, eighteen, Okay, so from eighteen to sixty six
- 31:15Speaker 4: coming up, there's no chance, right, So at some point
- 31:19Speaker 4: I couldn't do it before eighteen then high school doing
- 31:21Speaker 4: my stuff, right, So then you say, after sixty six,
- 31:24Speaker 4: is there going to be a chance to get me
- 31:25Speaker 4: to Florida? Not Arizona, but Florida for spring terres. When
- 31:29Speaker 4: I was in school, I always look at I said, man,
- 31:30Speaker 4: I wish it one o five I was in Sarasota today,
- 31:33Speaker 4: Or I wish I was in Duneden. I wish I
- 31:35Speaker 4: was down there today. I'd see that when in the
- 31:37Speaker 4: newspaper now Baltimore Morning Sun paper, I'd see that, say,
- 31:40Speaker 4: man at one o five, what I wish I was
- 31:41Speaker 4: in Florida's I did sit down there in the classroom. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:46Speaker 4: I'd love to be loved to be down there for
- 31:49Speaker 4: the for the grapefruit leg in March.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Yes, you mentioned guys who looked the part.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Is there a guy you can recall from all the
- 31:56Speaker 1: years you've been doing this who most looked the part
- 31:58Speaker 1: that ended up not playing the part very well?
- 32:01Speaker 4: It's a great question.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Oh God, that's a good one.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Well, yeah, I think I think to him, but I
- 32:09Speaker 4: think in terms of looking the part, i'd say probably
- 32:12Speaker 4: if you go to.
- 32:14Speaker 3: To Marcus Russell, maybe I don't know.
- 32:16Speaker 4: Yeah, he definitely you know he had the best pro
- 32:18Speaker 4: day ever. Who I always ask you, guys, I'm gonna
- 32:23Speaker 4: give you a quick quiz if the worst pro day
- 32:26Speaker 4: the best prote ever was to Marcus Russell? Who had
- 32:27Speaker 4: the worst I've told you, I've told you guys this time.
- 32:33Speaker 4: You can't my class. Guys, you gotta get in my class.
- 32:36Speaker 4: I'm gonna be the teacher here, I'm the professor. I've
- 32:39Speaker 4: mentioned this a hundred times. Who had the worst pro
- 32:42Speaker 4: day ever?
- 32:43Speaker 3: Peyton man I mean.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Peyton Manning wild Believe. I got a call from it
- 32:49Speaker 4: wild Believe, balls not get it done and say, and
- 32:54Speaker 4: that's when I heard the comment if his name was
- 32:55Speaker 4: Peyton Jones would be a third round pick. That was
- 32:58Speaker 4: Peyton the day, right, Marcus Russell had the best Pro
- 33:01Speaker 4: day ever? Yeah, I look back. The guy I thought
- 33:04Speaker 4: was going to be great. It was Tony Mandridge back
- 33:07Speaker 4: in the day.
- 33:08Speaker 1: And Tony yeahs illustrated.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Yeah, And to Tony's credit, what happened. He ended up
- 33:14Speaker 4: moving to guard with the Colts and ended up having
- 33:16Speaker 4: some good years. Right, so he wass a bust to
- 33:19Speaker 4: left tackleviding grated ahead of Troy Aikman that year in
- 33:22Speaker 4: eighty nine all that stuff. Tony Mandridge say, recovered and
- 33:26Speaker 4: became a heck of a guard and it wasn't a
- 33:29Speaker 4: bust as a guard looked like I remember people on
- 33:31Speaker 4: the league. I said, Tony Mandress is the perfect perfect
- 33:34Speaker 4: left tackle in the NFL.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Yeah, Taylor put it on the poll.
- 33:38Speaker 1: If Peyton Manning's last name was Jones, would he have
- 33:40Speaker 1: been a third round pick?
- 33:43Speaker 3: Such greaty, We appreciate it.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Check about he'll be all over from now until uh well,
- 33:50Speaker 1: for the next ten days, he'll be all over.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Yeah. Lake July, I got to correct you. It's late July.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Lot warned people out, says late July. He got me
- 34:00Speaker 4: out of the pool, He got me off the beach,
- 34:01Speaker 4: got me off my orange crushes and crab cakes to
- 34:04Speaker 4: drag me in from the pool, from the beach and
- 34:07Speaker 4: doing the first raft podcast. In July. We started the
- 34:10Speaker 4: first raft podcast. Me and my great friend field Yate
- 34:13Speaker 4: started at in late July. So we've been I think
- 34:16Speaker 4: people have seen enough of be mine now. I would
- 34:17Speaker 4: think him, guess what if you have, you're gonna see
- 34:20Speaker 4: a lot more. So you're right still with the time
- 34:22Speaker 4: has come. But well, yeah, for me, I can't get
- 34:24Speaker 4: what's it two weeks from two weeks from day, we'll
- 34:26Speaker 4: be getting ready for day two, right or whatever. I
- 34:28Speaker 4: don't know when you're gonna air this thing. It might
- 34:30Speaker 4: be over by the time you have this thing.
- 34:31Speaker 3: You might can't.
- 34:32Speaker 4: I don't care about this anymore. The bottom line is
- 34:34Speaker 4: whatever time this airs, uh, it's gonna be close enough
- 34:37Speaker 4: where I'll be happy to get this thing rolling.
- 34:39Speaker 3: There's never enough.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Mikey A texted me during this saying he could listen
- 34:43Speaker 1: to you all day. I said all day every day.
- 34:45Speaker 3: He never gets all day.
- 34:49Speaker 4: I gotta I gotta read some of those articles. And
- 34:50Speaker 4: people say, you just eliminate him from your podcast forever, okay,
- 34:55Speaker 4: in the retirement. That's what I've been told. You send
- 34:59Speaker 4: him into retirement, not us.
- 35:01Speaker 3: I would rather lose my tyrony don't care.
- 35:04Speaker 4: I don't care.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Mel All right, get out of here and we look
- 35:08Speaker 1: forward to you watching you on the NFL Drag on
- 35:12Speaker 1: a two weeks from the now.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Yes, well, thank you for the time.
- 35:15Speaker 4: We appreciate it, but we know you've been appreciate your mouth.
