- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, Steve. Come on.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Do your thing, Big Daddy.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 0:06Speaker 2: I sure will.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Good morning, everybody. You all listening to The Voice. Come on,
- 0:11Speaker 1: dig me now. One and only Steve Harvey. Got a
- 0:14Speaker 1: radio show. I thank God for it every day. I
- 0:17Speaker 1: try to remember that, too. You know, I try to
- 0:19Speaker 1: remember to be grateful. I think gratitude is... One of
- 0:24Speaker 1: the things that helps keep me grounded, you can go
- 0:27Speaker 1: as far as you want in life if you don't
- 0:29Speaker 1: mind who gets the credit. Well, that applies to God, too,
- 0:33Speaker 1: don't it? I mean, you know, really, if you don't
- 0:35Speaker 1: mind who gets the credit, I'm surrounded by very competent people.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm surrounded by a lot of people who work hard
- 0:45Speaker 1: on their jobs, on their career, who are dedicated. employees
- 0:51Speaker 1: and also just dedicated to their families and dedicated to
- 0:56Speaker 1: their own set of aspirations. I don't expect anybody to
- 0:59Speaker 1: work for me forever. I always look at my job
- 1:04Speaker 1: opportunities as stepping stones because I want everyone around me
- 1:08Speaker 1: really to aspire to be more. I mean, that's really
- 1:12Speaker 1: the way I am. I'm not any other way. I'm
- 1:14Speaker 1: not trying to hold you to this position, you know,
- 1:18Speaker 1: tell you there's no room for growth.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Any of that.
- 1:22Speaker 1: But even though I'm surrounded by these people, I'm grateful
- 1:27Speaker 1: that God placed them in my path, in my life,
- 1:34Speaker 1: but in my mind, in my spirit, in everything in me,
- 1:40Speaker 1: the credit still belongs to God.
- 1:43Speaker 2: I'm sorry. The credit still belongs to God.
- 1:49Speaker 1: See, if you would just for a moment, stop thinking
- 1:54Speaker 1: about yourself just for a moment. I know that's hard,
- 1:58Speaker 1: but just for a moment, stop thinking about yourself and
- 2:02Speaker 1: realize that maybe you are who you are because God
- 2:06Speaker 1: is who he is. Maybe that's the case. Have you
- 2:09Speaker 1: ever considered that? That's the strongest possibility I can give
- 2:13Speaker 1: to you. You know, how do you think you're the
- 2:18Speaker 1: one that made it through? How you think you the
- 2:21Speaker 1: one after all of the ignorant decisions we have made?
- 2:26Speaker 1: And oh, my goodness, let's all be honest. Ain't we
- 2:29Speaker 1: made some crazy decisions? I'm talking about, man, I have
- 2:33Speaker 1: made decisions so adverse to my destiny and career, my promises.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I've made some decisions, man, knowingly. You hear me knowingly
- 2:45Speaker 1: do something wrong. And in spite of all that, I'm
- 2:49Speaker 1: still here standing.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Okay, come on now. Really? Really?
- 2:54Speaker 1: All the dirt you done done. Everybody done dirt. All
- 2:59Speaker 1: the mistakes you've made. You in the position you in today.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Because of what? Because you all that? Because you work
- 3:07Speaker 1: harder than anybody else? Look, I work hard. I'll tell
- 3:13Speaker 1: you in a minute I work hard. But I don't
- 3:15Speaker 1: think I'm the hardest working person out there. I'm pretty
- 3:18Speaker 1: sure somebody done worked way harder than I have. So, OK,
- 3:22Speaker 1: so you work hard.
- 3:23Speaker 2: OK, cool.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I got all that. But man, what about his grace
- 3:29Speaker 1: and his mercy? What about his favor? How many times, man,
- 3:35Speaker 1: you didn't rely on that even when you know you
- 3:38Speaker 1: was relying on it? How many times, man, God has
- 3:41Speaker 1: shown you mercy? You ain't even deserve it. Do you
- 3:45Speaker 1: know how many things I've done wrong? I just ain't
- 3:47Speaker 1: get caught at it. You know, let me see how
- 3:52Speaker 1: simple I can be.
- 3:53Speaker 2: You speed. You jaywalk.
- 3:57Speaker 1: You lie to police when you get pulled over that
- 4:00Speaker 1: you wasn't speeding. You go to court and argue you
- 4:03Speaker 1: wasn't speeding when you was. You make U-turns. I'm just
- 4:09Speaker 1: doing traffic violations. Now, let's get off traffic for a second.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Let's get on human violations. You talk about people when
- 4:18Speaker 1: you're not supposed to. You indulge yourself in gossip even
- 4:24Speaker 1: when you don't really have all the facts. You pass judgment.
- 4:29Speaker 1: You lust for people that don't belong to you. You
- 4:34Speaker 1: say things to people that you're not supposed to say. So, look,
- 4:41Speaker 1: all of us, we all, we all guilty now. See,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I'm not saying you do all of that, but I'm
- 4:49Speaker 1: saying I'm pretty sure I hit you somewhere in there.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Just somewhere in there. You didn't lie before. You know,
- 4:55Speaker 2: you lied recently. I mean, come on. I'm just saying.
- 4:59Speaker 1: So with all that in mind, see, I'm just looking
- 5:01Speaker 1: at the little things that we do that we don't
- 5:03Speaker 1: get busted for. Not to mention the chips you stole
- 5:06Speaker 1: when you was a kid and nobody caught you. Well,
- 5:09Speaker 1: that elevated, didn't it? And some of y'all just didn't
- 5:11Speaker 1: stop stealing. And next thing you know, you was in
- 5:14Speaker 1: a car. Now you're sitting somewhere you don't want to
- 5:16Speaker 1: be sitting because of a decision you made. But through
- 5:19Speaker 1: his grace and mercy, couldn't it have been worse though?
- 5:22Speaker 1: Without his grace and mercy, could not it have been worse?
- 5:26Speaker 1: I know two dudes that got caught in the garage
- 5:28Speaker 1: one time trying to break in somebody's house and the
- 5:31Speaker 1: person in the house they broke into just happened to
- 5:33Speaker 1: have a gun and held them in the garage, caught
- 5:37Speaker 1: them and held them to the garage to the police car.
- 5:40Speaker 1: That's grace and mercy right there because they had all
- 5:43Speaker 1: full right to shoot these two people, but they didn't.
- 5:47Speaker 1: They're grace and mercy. See, All of us have benefited
- 5:50Speaker 1: from his grace and mercy. All of us have done
- 5:53Speaker 1: a wrong, committed a sin, broken a law, and somehow
- 5:56Speaker 1: through his grace and mercy got by doing drugs, buying drugs,
- 6:01Speaker 1: slinging drugs, doing something, got by, jumped on somebody for
- 6:04Speaker 1: no reason, got by, you know. So see how you
- 6:10Speaker 1: figure with all that's that can go on in your life.
- 6:13Speaker 1: And then hold on. Let me throw a couple more
- 6:15Speaker 1: at you. You can't wake yourself up in the morning.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Mr. Big Shot.
- 6:21Speaker 1: You don't have the ability to control the breaths that
- 6:25Speaker 1: you take.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Really, Mr. Big Shot. Really.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Let's get real basic with it now. You can't wake
- 6:31Speaker 1: yourself up in the morning. That's favor. That's grace. That's mercy.
- 6:41Speaker 1: That's him allowing you to wake up. Just hoping we
- 6:45Speaker 1: get it right. You know, God spared me through all
- 6:48Speaker 1: the dirt I was doing, just hoping one day, man,
- 6:51Speaker 1: can you just straighten up a little bit? When I
- 6:54Speaker 1: finally straightened up, and I'm going to just say it,
- 6:57Speaker 1: straightened up a little bit. See, I ain't straightened up
- 6:59Speaker 1: all the way. See, I ain't going to sit here
- 7:01Speaker 1: and tell you that. I just straightened up a little bit.
- 7:03Speaker 1: He started blessing me. So the more blessings I got,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I started going, man, maybe I'll try straightening up a
- 7:08Speaker 1: little bit more. So I straightened up a little bit more. Now,
- 7:10Speaker 1: I still got a long way to go, but I'm
- 7:12Speaker 1: straighter than I was. Now, when people judging me and
- 7:16Speaker 1: as they will and they do, because that ain't right,
- 7:18Speaker 1: but they do. And I ain't walking just the way
- 7:20Speaker 1: they walk. Then here come the criticism. I get it
- 7:23Speaker 1: all the time. Stop wanting credit all the time and
- 7:26Speaker 1: give out some credit where credit is due. Instead of
- 7:29Speaker 1: having somebody patting you on your back all the time.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Why don't you tell God, tell people it was really
- 7:34Speaker 1: was God, man, that you don't really know how you
- 7:37Speaker 1: made it. That really, man, you have no explanation for
- 7:40Speaker 1: your success or you have no explanation why you still
- 7:42Speaker 1: exist in the day. Why don't you tell somebody it
- 7:45Speaker 1: was God today? Don't be ashamed. It's the truth, ain't it?
- 7:49Speaker 1: I mean, really, man, let's give God some credit here.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Give God the credit and the glory and the honor.
- 7:55Speaker 1: And like that plaque said, you can go as far
- 7:57Speaker 1: as you want in life if you don't mind who
- 7:59Speaker 1: gets the credit.
- 8:00Speaker 2: All right. You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
