- 0:55SPEAKER_00: What is up, Tailgators?
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: It is your host, Cameron Clark, and I am back for another episode of the Tailgate Cam Podcast.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Today we have a busy show.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: We are going to do some soccer scores and roundups.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: We will do a quick tailgate talk on why NFL injuries seem to be peaking up so early this season.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Then we will get to NFL week two recaps in week three.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Tail the tailgate picks with a brand new guest jumping into the tailgate.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: So let's get to it.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Starting across the pond over in England, Arsenal's 100% win rate came to a close Saturday as they were beaten three to nothing by Brighton Hove Albion.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Newcastle United, they scored twice in the first seven minutes Saturday.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: They were able to give Hull City their first loss since being promoted up to the EPL.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Hey, Manchester U City, they continue to play very well.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Perfect football as they win five to three against Sunderland, thanks to two goals from Semeno and another beautiful Erling Holland finish.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Despite Sunderland getting a hat trick from Brian Broby five match days into the EPL season, and we still have three teams that have yet to win a game.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Tottenham, Fulham, and Bournemouth all currently occupy three of the bottom four spots in the EPL, and they are winless.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: So if you're a Tottenham fan, a Fulham fan, or a Bournemouth fan, I'm sorry.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Let's get to some other parts of the world.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Barcelona has now won all seven of their La Liga matches, or as they say over there, siete of their matches to open La Liga play, thanks to a hat trick from Rafinha against Sevilla.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Atletico Madrid, they defeated their crosstown rivals Real Madrid thanks to a red card and a penalty kick from Canadian Jonathan David.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Real Betis, who is currently third in the league table, played to a 1-1 draw with De Bortivo.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: And Roma and Inter Milan, who had a perfect four-win record heading into their matchup against each other.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Well, they played to a 2-2 draw with Kone and Lissandro Martinez each scoring two goals apiece.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Cagliari and Lazio both maintained strong form with shutout wins, each earning their fourth victories of the season for Cagliari and Lazio.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: American Christian Polisic scored in the 14th minute for AC Milan as they shut out and defeat Lecce.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Let's get to France.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: AS Monaco, who lead the league un table, earn their fourth victory of the season in a 2-1 win over RC Linz.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Paris FC, not to be confused with PSG, Paris FC continue their strong start to the season with a 2-1 win over Strasbourg.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Harry Kane over in Germany drops in a goal and a penalty kick against Union Berlin as Bayern scores seven goals and they route Union Berlin 7-0.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Paresia Dortman is still riding a winning streak now at four games to open the Bundesliga season after getting a 1-0 victory against Stuttgart.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: And Patrick Stick gets a first half goal against Leverk or against Leipzig, and Leverkusen gets a nice win against RB Leipzig 2-0.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Let's get back to America in the MLS.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: My St.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: Louis City.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: They are now gone 16 matches without a defeat, and it seems like they may never lose again.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Simon Becker scored yet another beautiful goal as they defeat Toronto FC 3-1 in Energizer Park in downtown St.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Louis.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Messi continues to pace the MLS and goals, and Luis Suarez chips in the second before San Diego FC ultimately earned a late 2-2 draw by scoring in stoppage time.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: The number one seed in the East, Nashville, played to a perfect 3-0 shutout at home against the Chicago Fire.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: And crazy enough, the one seed in the West, Vancouver, sparked by a goal from Thomas Mueller, defeated Real Salt Lake.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Also 3-0.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And then lastly in the MLS, our budding star that I keep bringing up on the Tailgate Cam podcast, Kevin Sullivan scored his seventh goal of the season in a four to three win for the Philadelphia Union over sporting Kansas City, the lowly sporting KC, as my dear friend Spencer would call them.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: So let's do a quick little tailgate talk before we jump into our guest segment and we recap week two and look ahead to week three.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: There's been a lot of injuries.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: We will obviously talk about them as we react to some of the games that just took place.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels, news today that Jackson Dart is hurt.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: We have running backs all over the league that are hurt.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: And the real reason I think this is happening has nothing to do with the game being more violent, guys not being in shape.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: I think it's the fact that the way that the NFL teams treat preseason, there were 12 starting quarterbacks that did not play in the preseason at all.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: And I think that that is really a recipe for some of these early season injuries, especially with the likes.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, maybe not as far as like Jaden Daniels' injury, but really with uh an injury like we saw with Caleb Williams and a hamstring, those calf injuries, um, also guys just playing less snaps than they probably would in under normal circumstances.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: I think this is all tied to the fact that there are a lot of teams that do not take the preseason seriously.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Because why would they?
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: They don't want to risk their stars getting hurt for games that don't mean anything.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: The NFL has to find a better way to bridge the gap between training camp and the start of the season.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, we're gonna continue to see a lot of injuries occur right when real games begin because guys are ramping up their athletic peak before their body bodies are really primed for it.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: You know, they're they haven't been conditioning, they haven't been getting those live game reps.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: It's impossible.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: If you've ever played football, if you've ever been to an NFL practice, even it's impossible to replicate how fast an NFL game is, especially for a quarterback.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: There's no way to replicate the way that defensive line jumps off the ball at the snap, the way that it occurs during a game.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: There's no way to get that same type of edge in practice.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: And I think it's contributing to a lot of these injuries.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: So the NFL, this is on you.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: You guys need to figure out a better way to bridge the gap between training camp and the NFL season.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Because the other part of this that we talked about it in a tail the tail or tailgate talk segment during the preseason, why preseason is important to watch.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: But fans, for the most part, don't care.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Even fans of their own team, hyper-focused fans, may tune in for a few minutes of a preseason game, but many fans do not watch preseason because, again, there's nothing on the line, there's no stakes, and most of the players that they care to see when they watch their team or any team play aren't playing in those games.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: So I would anticipate that we will still see injuries.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, injuries are a part of the game.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: No matter what the NFL does, there will be injuries.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: But I think the amount of uh high profile players being injured, especially uh of the hamstring calf, you know, strain variety, I think that would severely be reduced if there was a better workload ramp up period heading into the regular season.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Coming up next, we have a brand new guest joining the tailgate.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Stick around.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: The Tailgate Cam podcast is thrilled to welcome in another brand new guest for the first time.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: That's my boy T Burke, Taylor Burke.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: What's up, brother?
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, what's going on, Cam?
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: Pleasure to be here.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Nice to have you, man.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: I'm excited you're here.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Talk a little sports ball with me.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Uh, go ahead and tell the listeners of the Tailgate podcast something something interesting about you, maybe a hobby, uh fun fact.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Have you ever like broken a toe or anything like that?
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, I'm a jack of all trades.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, not very good at any one thing, but serviceable uh at a lot of things.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: So video games, working out, uh, you'll hear me singing.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: I'm actually like a weird Al Yankovich wannabe.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: Like I'll just parody any song.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: You you know what I do.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: I I will change the words to a song and it'll absolutely not be the song uh and it will be ridiculous, and uh it'll be great.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: And it'll be a one-time thing and that the world will never experience again because I don't write it down or remember it.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: But but I like fantasy football.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Uh I like fantasy more than my sports takes.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: So if I if I beat you at fantasy, I don't I don't think I know more at sports than you.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Um now you're gonna you're gonna this is par for the course, but guess what team I'm into right now these days?
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Well I know.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: Over the last few years, you were on the Bucks for a little bit, and that's gone.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: You were on the Chargers and they absolutely broke you.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: They broke my heart.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: Let me just it I would have said the Giants, but I I'm throwing that out there.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Is it the comedian?
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I'll give you the hint.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Mizzou.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: You know, as long as Drew Locke is at the helm, man, I swear, I'm telling you what.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: I I you know Nate Nate was right.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: Darnold can be gone.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: Pumpkinhead Darnold can be can be gone for all I care.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: It's it's Seattle as long as Drew Locke is at the helm.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: JSN two years in a row on my fantasy teams has just been an absolute delight.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Drew Locke watching a Mizzou representation has been an absolute delight.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: So uh as long as he's at the helm, I I I wish I wish they would keep him there.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: They won't.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: They'll go back to Darnold and they'll make a mistake and he will not be as fun to watch.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: Uh, but he will play.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: And I'm as long as I have known Mr.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Burke, he has had a rotating sports fandom.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: He has never been set on one team other than Mizzou, I would say.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Like I feel like Taylor, you've always liked Mizzou sports, but never been set as a pro sports fan, really just like a fan of the game itself.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: So uh excited to talk NFL week two and then get into NFL week three with you.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: So you ready to get started?
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: Let's get into it.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: So the the first game that we're gonna discuss from week two was the Bills and the Lions from Thursday night football last week, which really this was a really entertaining game uh for large stretches of this.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: The Bills were pretty much up the entire game.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Um, this was indeed the Josh Allen show.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: He had 248 passing yards, 69 rushing yards, three passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, and I think he made a few cheeseburgers and pancakes along the way, too.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: He was just doing everything.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Uh and then on the other side, we got a heavy dose of Amon Ra St.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Brown.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Nine catches, 142 yards, and two touchdowns.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: A lot of that coming in like mop-up garbage time.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: Um, what were your thoughts about this game?
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Like about Josh Allen, about um Jameer Gibbs really not getting the ball as much, except for as a receiver, he made a pretty nice catch.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: What were your thoughts about this Bills Lions Thursday night matchup?
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: I thought it was, you know, I know that that Gibbs didn't eat as much as as people would have probably liked, given the fact that so many other people ate, but I think that my main takeaway was I think I read that nine nine total people recorded a touchdown in this game between quarterbacks, skill players, and everybody involved.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, that might be that I I'm pretty sure I read that headline somewhere, and and that's just that I've I don't think I remember the last time that so many different players got got fed in one game.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Uh I think I actually ended up uh having to shut this game off, but then just getting the the the notification after notification after notification about what was going on in this game, and it it was it was just it was just a a great Thursday night.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Everybody ate except for my guy DJ Moore, who finished the night with negative 0.1 fantasy points on my fantasy team in our league.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: So that was that was a nice way to watch this game uh last week.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: If the Lions defense, though, if they continue to struggle, they struggled in week one against the Saints, um, and the Saints actually were able to force overtime against the Lions, and then obviously they gave up three touchdowns pretty quickly to the Bills, and they were never able to establish a running game.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Does that concern you for the rest of the season about Jameer Gibbs, or is he just too good that that the game script part of it doesn't really matter?
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: No, I mean he can always hit a home run, and if you're in any kind of PPR, half PPR, they'll the narrative in the game script there is going to lend itself to him getting the receptions that you need for plays like that'll be big breakaway, catching it in open field, making a move.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Uh and then of course at the goal line, he should be always getting it there too.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: So if they do get up at the goal line, even if they're down in a bad game script, they'll still probably run the ball in, give him a chance, unless time's on time's still not on his side.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: But I don't worry about Gibbs.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: Gibbs is the last player I worry about.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: If you were to ask me any other running rushing game from any other team, maybe I'd be a little bit worried if their defense was bad.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: I know that I don't pick players on bad defenses if I think that the game script's gonna be poor in fantasy, but poor in betting.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: But uh Gibbs is Gibbs and he'll be Gibbs for the rest of the year, barring injury.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I pretty much agree.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: I think there could be like a few games where he really gets game scripted out of it if their defense doesn't really improve.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Um, but I also think that they just played two good offenses at the start of the season.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: The Saints and the Bills both have very capable and diverse offenses.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Um, anything else you want to touch on from this Bills Lions game before we go to the next one?
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: No, I think I think the Lions will be able to regress toward the mean and won't have these big crazy high total games.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: They'll get some normal, normal game scripts here coming up pretty shortly, I think.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: The next game did not go the way that I wanted it to.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, that was my Jags traveling out to Denver, Colorado.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: They actually held a 13-3 lead about midway through the third quarter.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: And honestly, the story of the day for me was Vance Joseph, the Broncos defensive coordinator.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: He was able to put on some really good pressure looks.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: And the the book on Liam Cohen so far has been if you can play very good zone defense, a la Seattle, a la the Rams last year against us, you can make our offense be uh pretty uncomfortable.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: And the Broncos have the skill players in the secondary to do that, but from a fantasy perspective, Parker Washington, he just continues to do his thing.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: He had eight catches for 98 yards in this game.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: Where do you stand as of today with the Jaguars pass catchers?
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: I I really wish I had Parker Washington shares anywhere.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: Um I have Jacoby Myers shares, uh, I had some strange shares.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: I had, you know, I I had nothing but hopes for Brian Thomas Jr.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: Um I just think they're just gonna keep force feeding Parker the ball over and over and over, and then you'll see the the spreading of the wealth here or there, but I feel like as far as any one player being a standout option that you're gonna want to bet on or have on your team is gonna be Parker Washington rest of season.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think the the thing for Parker is like I obviously watch all the Jags games in very very close detail, and the thing is he just gets open, like he is very good, like he's just open, and I don't know if it's the necessarily that they scheme the plays to go to him, but the quarterback's gonna throw it to the guy that's the most open or the guy that's about to be open in the NFL, and it's usually him.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: And honestly, I think the guy that with Parker's ascension, the last eight or nine games that he's had into this wide receiver one territory, the guy that takes the biggest knock, I feel like it's Travis Hunter.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Like the they they are similar type of athletes, very explosive, twitchy, can catch it and get out and run.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: And I think the more that Parker does, the more it eats into what they would do with Travis Hunter on offense.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: Um, but ultimately, I think you're right.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: I think Parker is the guy to want on the Jags offense from a skilled player perspective.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Flip side on the Broncos, their first game against the Chiefs obviously was not great.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: They got beat pretty handily.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Um, but in this game, they finally used their offseason acquisition in Jalen Waddle.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: He had eight catches for 138 yards.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: It do you feel like this is what you can expect from Jalen Waddle, or is Nick's too unreliable to expect performances like this every week?
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: I think you'll see a stable enough floor for J Jaden Waddle to where you're not gonna be absolutely obliterated by playing him or what you expect from him.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: But I do think that randomly you'll just get like a random Franklin game.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: Or you might see Cortland Sutton get the the touchdown near near the goal line, and then you're just gonna be disappointed in in Waddle a couple games.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: Uh but I do think you'll see a stable enough amount of workload for Waddle to where you're you're you should be he should be an absolute must-tart week in and week out, no matter what.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: It is really interesting to me, too, because a staple of Sean Payton's in his whole career dating back to the Saints has always been that he threw the ball a lot to his running backs, and they don't really have any guy that catches the ball out of the backfield.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Dobbins not really a pass catcher, RJ Harvey is not a pass catcher.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: Um, and then they have Jonah Coleman too, and I mean he's just kind of an undrafted guy.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: So um I I think that Waddle does have a pretty reasonable floor.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: I do think Knicks is kind of you know high variance, um, but a great early season performance from him to get people believing in what Waddle can do.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: Ultimately, I felt my biggest two takeaways were again, I already said it, but the Broncos secondary is very, very difficult to beat if they are in a close game.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: The other part of this is Baychall Tootin.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: He had 13 carries for 65 yards.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: He is leading the NFL in forced miss tackles right now through two weeks, despite only having about 28 carries on the season.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: Um, I think Beyshaw has is continuing to show that them feeding Chris Rodriguez on anything other than third and shorts is not useful for them in this offense, and it needs to be Beyshaw getting 65 to 70 percent of the touches.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Um, anything else you want to add about the Broncos Jags game?
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think I think you said it all.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: The next game we're gonna talk about is an NFC North showdown that took place in Soldier Field last week, and this game was pretty viral for a very different reason than we would have expected.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: Um, they played in some pretty heavy rain, um, bad weather for the entire game, and there was not an offensive or defensive touchdown scored in this game.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: The Vikings ended up winning 9-3.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: But the big story here uh was Brian Flores pretty much putting Caleb Williams and the Bears' offense in a hell in a cell if you like WWE, and Caleb Williams' infamous uh what we all I think assumed was a pretty severe season-ending injury.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: Uh, he got carted off the sideline with a towel over his head, and Monday morning rolls around, and the reports come out that maybe Caleb Williams will play on Monday night this week.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: So what what was your reaction to that whole fiasco?
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Like between Sunday, like during the game windows, and then like Monday when you're finding out oh, wait, he's fine, I guess.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: You know.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: I I don't I I never really know what to expect anymore when I'm heading into these weeks.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: You know, so much stuff is overblown.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: So much stuff is underplayed.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like the coach speak, you can't rely on it.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: You can't even rely on what a player says, you know, how many times have we been burned by a player saying, I I'm ready to go, and then they dare on a pitch count.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: So I I I will usually if I if I have better options that I feel really good about, I'll play them over somebody who you know I might feel a little bit shaky about.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: But uh do you feel like you have concerns moving forward uh not just about the Bears offense, but uh specifically about Caleb Williams?
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I mean Caleb Williams, as far as as far as I've never seen anything like that in my whole life.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: I've never seen anybody react the way that they did and not have it be a season long or a career-ending injury.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: Um I think that we've I think that we've seen enough on the internet about how ridiculous that was.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: But I for all I know, Caleb Williams is gonna be out there in two weeks just playing ball.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: You know, maybe not rushing, but maybe just standing in the pocket and ripping it.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: Um for all I know too, uh, you know, I think the Bears might surprise you with how they well do well with bad they have bag badge in the back now.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Uh Bajent, yeah.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Tyson Bajent.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: Like it they're weird right now.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: They're they're they're utilizing Khalif Raymond more than they're utilizing Luther Burden the third.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: Like what what i I don't really get them right now, anyways, even without the whole Caleb Williams drama.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: I a hundred percent.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: They scored 59 points in week one, and Colson Loveland didn't have a catch.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't I don't I don't know how that happens.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: They're seem to be committed to running the ball, which I think is good for them as a team.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: Um, but I don't think it's how any of us expected them to score 31 points a game through two weeks at all.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: So um pretty fascinating game, pretty fascinating social media reaction to that injury.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Um, we'll be interesting to see if we see Caleb Williams on Monday night football against the Eagles this week.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Um, but another really interesting game, the Saints continue to be the fourth quarter Cardiac Kings.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: They were down uh 15 in the fourth quarter and were able to overcome that deficit against the Ravens.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: And yet again, even though John Harbaugh is not there anymore, the Ravens blow another big fourth quarter lead.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: And this just seems like a theme with Lamar Jackson.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: Like, I I mean, I don't know about you, but like who else do they blame?
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Because it was always well, this is Harbaugh, like they blow leads sometimes, but like what is it now?
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: I think I think I saw that Derrick Henry only had five touches in the second half.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: That's absolutely in that's insane to me.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: I he had five rushing attempts in the second half.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: He's your closer, he shuts games down.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: If you're not getting the ball in his hands more than five times, then then you are not might you might as well not be winning that football game.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: A hundred percent.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, that's that's a great point.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: And Tyler Shuck, I was banging the drum on Tyler Shuck before the season, and through two games, he's leading the NFL in passing yards.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: He had another really good game despite no running game at all.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: Um, he threw for 252 yards.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: He was basically 80% completion, ran for a touchdown, threw for a touchdown.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Um any any thoughts really about like the Saints offense and what you've seen from them?
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: A guy like Devon Vale stepping up.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: Um, what what are your thoughts really about the Saints offense specifically?
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: You know, I I think that it's gonna be I think it's gonna still be a lot of getting the ball spread around.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: You you got you got your your tight end game will stay there when Tyson gets back.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: I think that the the biggest detriment to Tyson right now is that young wide receivers have to establish themselves early on uh for them to really be incorporated and involved.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna be a long road ahead for him to just immediately push Vele out.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: I think Vele will be here to stay uh as a wide receiver two or three on the team.
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: I don't think his I don't think that Tyson's just gonna say, I'm back from injury, now I've earned my snap count, I've earned my trust with the QB.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: That that's gonna take a while.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Um and I think that at least you'll have Johnson as the tight end option.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: If if if the that distribution of targets does get split between those two guys, then I'm just playing Johnson every week because at least I know that that that might be a more safe because I I do have both of those guys uh on my on my squad in one league.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: So uh I do I do trust that it's not all just gonna be uh going to their main option and uh oh man, guardian cap guy.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: Uh he's what is Olave.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: Olave, yep.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: I his name was escaping me, but yeah, Olave, he he's really turned it on.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: Uh he scares me with injury too.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: That's why I I am keeping Vele on my team because I think Olave is gonna get he's gonna have his games where he misses, and he might always tweak it himself.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: He's a kind of a glass, a glass cannon.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: Especially if they keep giving him 11 targets a game, like chances are he probably will get hurt given his history.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, another great call out.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: I've I've always kind of been a sleepy fan of uh Juwan Johnson, and that guy is a really good run blocker, and that's how he's stayed in the NFL so long.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: But in the red zone, he is a real weapon because of his size, his frame.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: He's essentially a Antonio Gates light.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: Um that's that's a great call out.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: The fact that he has a defined role with this team, um, through two coaches, by the way, through Kellen Moore and through Sean Payton.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Um, I I think I I think that's a great call out there for Juwan Johnson.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: Um anything else here for Saints and Ravens before we move to our next game?
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: Nah.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: The next game we are going to break down is the Bengals.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: They went into NRG Stadium, where now the Texans have lost two games back to back at home to start the season.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: I on the Tailgate Camp podcast, we are unbiased.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: We try to make real objective opinions, but we couldn't be happier.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: No, we love that.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: We couldn't be able to do that.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: And we have that now, and honestly, I think uh what you know, I I don't and I never want anybody to get hurt.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: I want everybody to play at their best.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: But one thing that I really have enjoyed so far this season, being a Texans official hashtag hater, is the fact that CJ Stroud has actually played kind of okay, and they can't score the ball.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: Like now they're finally getting him to like deliver on third downs and step up and make good throws in the pocket, and now they can't find a way in the end zone.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: And I just think that the fact that that is happening now absolutely tickles me pink.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Uh, but really the story of this game was Jamar Chase, he had two outstanding touchdown catches.
- 29:08SPEAKER_00: The first one was like a falling down against the sideline in the front corner of the end zone, like toe dragging while he was extending for the ball.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: It was really amazing.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: Um and he had seven catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns in this game.
- 29:24SPEAKER_00: Thoughts initially about the Bengals before we get onto the Texan side.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: Well, Jamar Chase showed us that he's Jamar Chase.
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: And that was nice because you know, you for the people that got him with their first pick and saw what he did week one and were disappointed and then didn't really just had that little splip of doubt that immediately just gets wiped away with an exclamation point.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Um, the people that got the Joe Burrow, Jamar Chase stack that thought their season was over after week one, now all of a sudden thinking that they're a force to be reckoned with.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: It's just nice to see that narrative.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: Because Jamar Chase is the best wide receiver in the NFL.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: And I think that you know, after that, in no particular order, you could name five other guys.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: But Jamar Chase to me is is absolutely, you know, it is it's it's always gonna be subjective, but that's my number one guy.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: And uh so it's nice to see him showing us that that's why he's the number one guy.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: Some of the best catch, one of the best catches I think I've ever seen since the Odell Beckham.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, it it was it was phenomenal.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: It was such a great catch.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: Um, the other I kind of mentioned this already, but just to really illustrate the point on the Texans side of things, CJ Stroud threw the ball.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: He he attempted 56 passes in this game, and they ran the ball to their running backs 14 times.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: So they ran about 75 offensive plays in this game.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: Uh, yes, 75 offensive plays, and out of those, he threw the ball 56 times.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: That's almost 80% of the time he's throwing the ball.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: I don't know in what universe that is the recipe for them to be it's not like they were ever getting blown out of this game.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: They lost by 14.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: And I I don't I I don't know what their identity is on offense, especially when they don't have Nico Collins.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: You would think that they would lean more into the running game.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: And the fact that that's what their game plan was is to me, again, as a fat uh uh official hashtag hater was shocking to me.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, you have a premier back and David Montgomery, who showed us last week that he could win you with the football game despite them still losing.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: You went out and you paid him, and he showed you that he can handle the rock, and then you don't give him the rock, and then you just feed Dalton Schultz all day.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: Dalton Schultz, I have actually wrote a note about Dalton Schultz because he did have a quite a game.
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: He had 12 catches for 140 yards.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: Do you think that he should be a tight end that you start every single week in fantasy?
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: I picked him up and no, I don't think that.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: I picked I I picked him up and and I expect more along the lines of uh uh six for eight for 60 yards and touchdowns.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: He's just a guy that I feel like if I need 10 points in a flex, the the league that you and I play in is really deep and in starting some tight ends with a carved out role in your two flex spots, uh, you know, like if if you have to start that many players, they say you're in a super flex, three wide receiver with two additional flex, I don't have a problem starting Dalton Schultz in in my in my one of my flex spots, or Jawan Johnson or some of those guys that they have a carved out roll, but no, we absolutely cannot expect 12 receptions for 140 yards from this guy ever again.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: He will never do that again in his career.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: My my last thought about this game is that we've now seen from what everybody told us all offseason, was the best defense without a doubt in the NFL.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying that they're not, but I am saying that the first two games of the year, they played two good teams at home in their building, and both of those teams lit them up.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: The Bills had what 39 points and drove down the field with a minute left in that game in week one to beat them.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: Their defense literally lost them the game in week one, and week two, they couldn't get any stops when they mattered in the whole first three quarters of the game.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: Like, are are you still a believer in the Texans defense or have the first two weeks given you any pause with that?
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: I think uh we'll talk about it a little in a little bit here, but I think they're due for a get-right game.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: I really do.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: And and and they'll they'll they they are a good team overall.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: I think they'll they'll regress toward the mean again and they'll they'll start to put it together.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: It's still so early.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: I know we love to derive so many conclusions from limited data through two weeks.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: It's kind of part of the fun, but you can't assume that things are just gonna be bad beats for them all year.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: Um not that this was a bad beat, but that that that that first game was.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: Uh this game was just they got beat bad.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Um But no, I I think that they will show us that uh that they're gonna try to be a you know a force in their division, and even though the Jags will show them that they're second in their division, I think they'll be second in their division at the end of the year.
- 34:28SPEAKER_00: No, I yeah, I I completely agree.
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: Both defensive lines, the last thing I'll say about this game before we move on, both defensive lines did have a pretty strong game.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: I mean, some of that's to be expected for the Bengals.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: They had four sacks, but that happens when you throw the ball 56 times, you're gonna give up some sacks.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: The Texans still had five sacks, though, despite you know, never really being ahead in this game.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: They still were able to get to Joe Burrow quite a few times.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: And one of them looked like a pretty hard hit on Burrow, but he seems like he's healthy.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: So, next game we will break down was the Dallas Cowboys at home defending their home turf against the Washington Commanders, uh, getting a victory 37 to 20.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: The big story coming out of this game on the commander side will start there was yet again Jaden Daniels down with an injury, another armslash kind of like elbow dislocation to his left arm.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: Um, I haven't seen officially how long he will be out.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't have you already seen, did you see how long he's out?
- 35:35SPEAKER_01: I suspect this to be a four to six week or yeah.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Uh I suspect they'll probably debate whether or not they're gonna put him on the IR.
- 35:43SPEAKER_01: I would I would assume they'll put him on the IR.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: The latest news from today says he's seeing a different specialist besides the team doctor.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: I'll go ahead and stop right there.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: That's not good.
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: If you're trying to seek a second opinion to confirm your bias, yeah.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: That's what it sounds like.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: He sounds like he's trying to get the answer he wants to hear.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: Like, can I can I get back and when can I get back into action?
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: The first guy said it's done.
- 36:07SPEAKER_01: The first guy said I'm done.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: To reference something you shared in our group chat the other day with his teammates walking away from him.
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: Um I've never seen anything like that in my entire life.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: That also gives me the impression that he might not trust their team doctor um because he's already suffered this injury before.
- 36:24SPEAKER_00: I could I mean there's a lot of things you can say about Jaden Daniels, and I obviously he's an incredible talent.
- 36:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, just in the first you know, portion of this game that he played in, he had seven carries for 69 yards.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: Like he was he looked dynamic.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: He looked good, he did, and yeah, I just I'm I'm concerned about him long term because he won the Heisman Trophy in college.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: He's one of the best quarterbacks talent-wise in college for his career.
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: And I'm just worried about where his career is going at this point.
- 36:58SPEAKER_00: Like he's suffered several pretty serious injuries in a matter of 12 months now.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: He got hurt at the beginning of last season, hurt his arm at the end of last season, now hurts his arm again.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: At least the silver lining is it's not his throwing arm, but any other thoughts on the commander side of this before we talk about how sweet the Cowboys looked?
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: I just last thing I'll say is that if you are writhing around in agony on the field and you're the quarterback, and every last member of your team walks by you as if you're just a nuisance to them.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not good.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: I don't care if you come back and in that game and healthy enough wanting to play.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: You've lost that locker room.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: You've lost that team.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: You might Marcus Mariota might as well start the rest of the season.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: At least that O line will care about him more.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: I've never seen anything like that.
- 37:46SPEAKER_01: But yeah, let's get into a little bit of the Cowboys.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so on the Cowboys side of things, uh, Dak really established that he was ready to go now in 2026.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: He was 26 of 31, 279 yards, and 26 rushing yards.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: He also threw four passing touchdowns, two of them to Jake Ferguson, and two to CeeDee Lamb, the guy who I said was gonna finish this year as wide receiver one.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: He has eight catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns Sunday.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: Is this what you expect from the Cowboys offense?
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, week one, I didn't necessarily get exactly what I wanted out of the Cowboys.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: Uh I still had an okay day because the touchdowns went to the players what I needed, the touchdowns to go to.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: Uh, other than that, overall, Dak didn't have a great outing.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I mean, I don't know if this is more of like a like a let's prop up Dallas Cowboys or let's indict the Washington secondary.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: I let you say I'm really excited to start my Seattle Seahawks against Washington this week.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: Uh really excited for Drew Locke, really excited for JSN because I think that JSN will absolutely do what Lamb did and do what he did uh last week.
- 39:03SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I think that I think that's Cowboys are one of the best offenses in the league.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna show us that they're here to to actually go to the playoffs and lose the first game of the playoffs, uh, like they always do.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: Uh but they're definitely they definitely have to go.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: They have to go and they have to lose in the first game in the divisionals, uh, and then and then somebody else will win.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: But uh yeah, at least they'll do that.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: At least they'll do that.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: I I picked the Cowboys to win the NFC East this year, and that was the team that I expected to see.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: They clearly had a hard time in week one against Jackson Dart and the Giants, but this was more of what I expected than to see a dominant team that wins by three possessions at home.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: That's what I expect this team to be this year.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: Uh, moving on to the last game we will talk about in great detail from week two was Sunday night football.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: The Chiefs hosted the Indianapolis Colts, which this game was actually a pretty good close game back and forth pretty much the entire game.
- 40:04SPEAKER_00: Um, the story here, though, they get to overtime.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: Um the Colts have the ball driving down the field.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: There's about two, maybe three minutes left in overtime, and the Colts decide on fourth down.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: They're I think they were on like the 25-yard line.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Um, I'll double check.
- 40:23SPEAKER_00: But, anyways, they decide to kick a field goal in overtime instead of going for it on fourth down and for like forcing the Chiefs' hand essentially, they willingly opt to um try to kick the field goal.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: And the Chiefs get the ball with I I'm double checking right now, they got the ball back in overtime with three minutes and 11 seconds left.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: And so the thought there is why are you guys kicking the field goal?
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: You're giving them three minutes and two timeouts where they can either tie the game, which we've seen Mahomes get down the field and in 16 seconds.
- 41:02SPEAKER_00: In 16 seconds and get field goals in crunch time.
- 41:05SPEAKER_00: That's literally when he's at his best in his career.
- 41:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: Or what eventually did happen, they drive all the way down the field and score a touchdown and you lose the game.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: What what did you think about their decision to kick the field goal and go and go up three in overtime?
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: They just didn't have the trust in their guys to do that fourth down conversion.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: I mean, I I I I think I would have kicked personally and then just prayed.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: Got down on my hands and knees and prayed.
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: Uh Analytics is a son of a bitch in football, and the people that make those decisions are are making those decisions based off of information that that maybe we don't uh factor in or that we don't believe in.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: And I think that you go for the you you you you don't kick the field goal, uh, you miss on fourth down and and you lose.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: To me, yeah.
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: I was just gonna say, to me, it comes down to if you if you go for it, there's obviously the chance that you don't get the conversion or you don't score on the drive.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: So yeah, you may not end up getting ahead.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: But if you kick the field goal, in my book, with that much time left, you're virtually guaranteeing the fact that you don't win the game.
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: You may tie, you know, you may force them to run out of time or stop them, and it's fourth down, and they they're forced to kick the field goal, but ultimately it removes any chance that they had to win the game, which to me is just it's the most Colts thing that they could have done.
- 42:38SPEAKER_01: I agree with your point.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: I just know that I I like to think of myself as somebody with a lot of cojones.
- 42:44SPEAKER_01: Uh I think I would have I think I would have taken the conservative play there.
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: I think I would have booted the ball and taken the points.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: I think I would have tried to do a lot more differently throughout the entire game, but once you get to that point, you know, you have seen it over and over.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: Patrick Mahomes will hurt you even with 16 seconds left on the clock, let alone three minutes.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: You knew that was gonna happen.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: You do know it is a for a for sure thing.
- 43:06SPEAKER_01: You know that's gonna happen, but uh, I don't know.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: You just gotta pray that your defense can step up and do something crazy for you.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, and speaking of Mahomes, he looked great on Sunday night.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: He had 382 yards and three touchdowns.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: Kenneth Walker, the third, had another 100-yard performance.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: He actually had 117 yards on 4.9 yards per carry.
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: Thoughts on the Chiefs' offense from you.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: Oh man, it's the rest of the country's worst nightmare.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: They're good.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: They they do look good so far.
- 43:36SPEAKER_00: They their offense, I mean, at the beginning of week one, they look like they had some moments where they struggled, but ever really since halftime of week one against the Broncos, their offense has looked pretty good, and they've been able to run the ball, which really makes the biggest difference.
- 43:50SPEAKER_00: They were not able to run the ball the last several years with Pacheco in, you know, iterations of Kareem Hunt and you know, Sharkhandrick West.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Like the most random, you know, free agent worthy running backs that you could have was who they were running the ball with.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: And then now they have the Super Bowl MVP.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: Um and you can just see that it makes such a difference for their offense.
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: Um anything else from week two that you want to mention that stood out to you before we go to week three?
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Uh without Alex Pierce, I I I think that you fire up your Tyler Warrens.
- 44:25SPEAKER_01: You fire up your Tyler Warrens, and and then I don't know if you I don't think you roll the dice on any other cash uh pass catcher there in Indianapolis.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: I think it's just Tyler Warren and then some of those other guys.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't expect to hang my hat on Keenan Allen.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't think he's gonna get it done for you.
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Josh Downs, Keenan Allen.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to think of like who else they even have at receiver.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: Um it's not it's not great.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: It's why I was not high on this team coming into the season.
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: I I didn't love their options on offense besides Warren and JT and JT is 30 years old and he just led the league in touches.
- 45:04SPEAKER_00: Like that doesn't scream I'm gonna have a great season all year or not get hurt.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: Um that's just how the running back position is.
- 45:13SPEAKER_01: So that's touchdowns might be okay for you, but yeah, if if you if you need an absolute dart throw and you fire up Laquan Treadwell, you better do your Hail Marys and you better and you better pray and get on the back.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, look, that's who it was.
- 45:25SPEAKER_00: That's who uh maybe fumbled that ball was Laquan Treadwell.
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: Look out.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: Nice call there.
- 45:32SPEAKER_00: Uh let's move on to week three.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: So we will go into detail with a few of the biggest games, and then I will call out the rest of the winners.
- 45:41SPEAKER_00: So we will start with the Chargers traveling to Buffalo to take on the Josh Allen and the Bills.
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: The Bills are favored by seven in this game.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: The over-under is set at 50 and a half.
- 45:53SPEAKER_00: I I just I'm so disappointed.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: I am so disappointed.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: Um there's really no other way to say it.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: I picked the Chargers to win the AFC West, and they started the season losing to the Cardinals at home and then the Raiders on the road.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: And it was bad.
- 46:16SPEAKER_00: And it wasn't even good games.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: They've both been bad.
- 46:19SPEAKER_00: They've been beaten by double digits by both of those teams.
- 46:23SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: I'm sitting here, and you know what the most chargers thing to do that they could possibly do in this situation would be?
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: Do you know what it is?
- 46:32SPEAKER_00: They could win the game.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: They could go to Buffalo and win, and Justin Herbert could be amazing, and people will go insane.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: If the supporting cast around him does their job, then I I believe that that is in the cards.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: I just think that the amount of balls I saw ricochet off of players when when Justin Herbert put it right where it needed to be.
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: Yep, it made me sick to my stomach because I have them in our in our league of record, and I watched as my points just evaporated and I almost lost until I got what I got from my my afternoon window.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: I am taking the Bills here to win at home.
- 47:08SPEAKER_00: I just I I my trust, if I ever had any in Justin Herbert, it's completely shaken right now.
- 47:16SPEAKER_00: Um I'm on the Bills.
- 47:18SPEAKER_00: Who do you think wins this game?
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: That team is gonna break Justin Herbert.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: The Bills are on a on a tear.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: I think the Bills win their division.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: Sorry, uh, sorry, Patz.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: Uh the Bills.
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: Uh moving on to another big AFC game.
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: Um, the two and the three seed from 2025.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: The Jags host the New England Patriots.
- 47:38SPEAKER_00: The Jags are favored by three, and the total is set at 45 and a half.
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: I honestly, I I I would I'm not that upset about how Sunday went.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: Um I thought our defense played pretty well.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: I thought Trevor, for the most part, played pretty well.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: And guess what?
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: The reality is that sometimes good teams win games, and I don't think the Broncos are a bad team.
- 48:05SPEAKER_00: I don't necessarily think they're great, um, but sometimes the good team wins a game.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: And they were at home and early in the season in their home opener after they looked terrible in week one.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: I just wasn't that alarmed that we lost that game.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: And if anything, I think it is a correction course for us to come home and we don't have another home game after this for five weeks.
- 48:28SPEAKER_00: So I think that they're gonna come home and absolutely play a flawless game on offense against a good Patriots defense.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: I think Trevor is going to have a very, very good game on Sunday.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: I think the Jags win, I think the Jags cover.
- 48:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I think this is also a get right game for the Patriots, too.
- 48:47SPEAKER_01: And you know, being friends with you, being a diehard Jags fan, and being friends with our friend Dylan, who's a diehard Patriots fan, and me being stuck in the middle of it like a kid whose parents are going through a divorce.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: Like, Ma Pa, don't make me choose.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: You know, I absolutely do not know who to side on with this.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: I I uh my heart says that the Jags are more electric on offense right now.
- 49:12SPEAKER_01: Um, but I don't know, they're getting Trayvon Trayvon Henderson going, and and you know, May knows he's gotta step up and and he's getting back with uh Romeo Dobbs.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, Dobbs had a get right game for himself, week two, not dropping everything that came his way.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: I think this one's gonna come down to the wire.
- 49:32SPEAKER_01: And uh it's a coin toss for me.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: But yeah, let's go, Jags.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: Jags officially, but close too close to really call.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Um next game is in the AFC North.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: The Bengals, who are two and oh, fresh off their win in Houston, travel as road favorites by three and a half to Hinesfield and Aaron Rodgers.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: I I I don't know how else to say it.
- 49:56SPEAKER_00: The Steelers offense sucks.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: They suck.
- 49:59SPEAKER_00: They suck.
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: They I think I would rather be a fan of a like if I had to be a fan of a team that was not the Jags and watch their offense, I would pick every single team's offense before them.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: I'm about to I'm about to start tight ends over DK Metcal in my flex.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: In tight ends that I don't even believe in.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: And I'm about to I'm about to sit DK Metcalf, who should be the most electric player next, like top should be a top 12 option with a good quarterback.
- 50:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's the problem.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: Rodgers is not good.
- 50:35SPEAKER_00: He doesn't have the arm strength.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: You can just see it.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: Like there's no zip on any of his balls, and he takes too long, he takes a lot of sacks behind like a pretty mediocre offensive line.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: I think the Bengals coming to Pittsburgh.
- 50:50SPEAKER_00: I think they win, I think they cover.
- 50:52SPEAKER_00: I am on the Bengals.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: It's the Bengals.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: This game, I'm I might not even watch a single snap if it were up to me.
- 51:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, the next game is actually taking place in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: That is the Ravens fresh off that collapse against the Saints and the Cowboys fresh off looking great against the Commanders.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: The Ravens are favored by three and a half.
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: The total is set at 52 and a half.
- 51:20SPEAKER_00: I just think this is a get right spot for Baltimore on a on a big international stage.
- 51:25SPEAKER_00: It's on national TV.
- 51:27SPEAKER_00: Derrick Henry always plays pretty well against the Cowboys.
- 51:31SPEAKER_00: I just think that this is a good matchup for them.
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Ravens.
- 51:35SPEAKER_00: What about you?
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Derrick Henry has 30 touches in this game.
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: He wins the game for the Ravens.
- 51:41SPEAKER_01: I think you might see I think you might see uh Lamar Jackson efficient and solid in this game.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 51:49SPEAKER_01: I I don't see the Ravens uh playing poorly.
- 51:54SPEAKER_01: Uh that being said, I I I contrarian played the I contrarian pick this one as the Cowboys, despite this being the chance for the Ravens to put themselves back on the map.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: Uh I just really want the Cowboys to show us who they are in this game.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna pick them, even though I think that Derrick Henry could single-handedly win this game if the team allows him to do so.
- 52:16SPEAKER_01: If they give him the work in the second half that they need to close out this game.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: Uh in the game.
- 52:22SPEAKER_00: International games, like weird things always tend to happen.
- 52:24SPEAKER_00: Like the game just goes kind of weird, like somehow one team ends up with 19 points.
- 52:28SPEAKER_00: Like, you know what I mean?
- 52:29SPEAKER_00: Like they're just weird.
- 52:31SPEAKER_00: And I I think this could be yeah, I think this could be a weird game, but I just like Derrick Henry in this spot against the Cowboys.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: The next game we're gonna talk about is the Rams traveling to Denver for Sunday night football.
- 52:47SPEAKER_00: The Rams are two and a half point favorites.
- 52:50SPEAKER_00: The total is set at 45 and a half.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: I know Puka might not play.
- 52:56SPEAKER_00: That was the latest word today that he might not be able to play in week three as well.
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: But Devontae Adams just had an amazing game.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: He had 198 yards and two touchdowns on Monday night football.
- 53:10SPEAKER_00: I like the Rams traveling here.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: I think Aaron Donald is really gonna wreak some havoc on the Broncos offensive line.
- 53:18SPEAKER_00: And I think Matthew Stafford is is good in these moments.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: I'm on the Rams.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: Where are you going?
- 53:25SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, I'm on the Rams.
- 53:26SPEAKER_01: I think the Broncos could make this a close game, which is why I I wouldn't I you know I I would I would assume they would cover or make this close.
- 53:36SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: But I don't know.
- 53:38SPEAKER_01: I I after after seeing the Broncos play last week, they're they're they are off a real team.
- 53:42SPEAKER_01: They are off a real team, even though it's it's kind of weird.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: How I I don't how they get it done is a little bit weird to me.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't know why it just doesn't feel very prototypical.
- 53:53SPEAKER_01: Um but yeah, the Rams, the Rams should pull this one out.
- 53:58SPEAKER_00: The next game is an AFC South matchup.
- 54:00SPEAKER_00: The Texans, they are 0-2 traveling to Indianapolis to face the 0-2 Colts.
- 54:07SPEAKER_00: Honestly, I just think at home, both of these teams are gonna be very desperate.
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: I like the under in this game, early season end division matchup, kind of a low total, um, two good-ish defenses, two quarterbacks I don't necessarily trust.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: I think this is a close game.
- 54:25SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm probably gonna be leaning towards the under when we get to our tailgate picks.
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I am actually taking the Colts here.
- 54:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I think that Jonathan Taylor can have a good game against this defense.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: I I like Daniel Jones in this spot.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Colts at home.
- 54:44SPEAKER_00: Who are you taking?
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: Uh give me the Texans.
- 54:48SPEAKER_00: Let's see what they got and let's see what they got in the tank.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, nice.
- 54:52SPEAKER_00: Um, now moving on to the uh the Detroit Lions will be hosting the New York Jets.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: The Lions come into this game favored by six and a half.
- 55:01SPEAKER_00: The total is set at 47 and a half.
- 55:05SPEAKER_00: So I am going to pick the Lions in this game.
- 55:08SPEAKER_00: Uh, but the short analysis here is I think the Jets are gonna give them a hell of a game.
- 55:13SPEAKER_00: I think the Jets are a live dog.
- 55:15SPEAKER_00: I think they will surprise teams.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: We've already seen them um win a game this year, albeit against the Titans, but they kind of beat the Titans bad.
- 55:24SPEAKER_00: And they were in that game.
- 55:27SPEAKER_00: They took the Packers to overtime, they looked good for stretches of that game, even on offense with Garrett Wilson and Braylon Allen.
- 55:35SPEAKER_00: Um they look good.
- 55:36SPEAKER_01: Uh as far as yeah, Jets team as far as Jets teams go, this is one of the better Jets teams I've seen in a handful of years, I would say.
- 55:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: Um I'm in the like I said, in short, I'm gonna pick the Lions, but I think the Jets keep this game pretty close.
- 55:51SPEAKER_00: But uh where are you going here?
- 55:53SPEAKER_01: I'm still going lions, but I think you temper your expectations.
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: Like I don't think you just hammer the Lions, you know.
- 56:02SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't think you just assume they're gonna that's six that six point five looks a little that's too rich for my blood.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 56:09SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't suspect they're gonna win by that much.
- 56:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and the last game we're gonna break down is the somehow 2-0 Raiders.
- 56:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, taking on the one in one Saints in New Orleans.
- 56:25SPEAKER_00: I was really like up for debate what the last game we should talk about was, and I kept looking at the schedule, I was like, we gotta talk about this game.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: It's Kirk Cousins, it's Tyler Shuck.
- 56:37SPEAKER_00: We gotta talk about this.
- 56:38SPEAKER_00: Like, these teams have actually been pretty fun and pretty good, and these were two of the worst teams in the NFL last year, and um Shuck has been good.
- 56:48SPEAKER_00: Um Kirk Cousins honestly has been pretty good uh for the Raiders.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: Genty started to play well.
- 56:56SPEAKER_00: Brock Bowers supposedly will be back for this game in week three.
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: They they said it's most more likely than not that he will play the game in week three.
- 57:05SPEAKER_00: Um the Saints are favored by three at home.
- 57:08SPEAKER_00: There's again a low total here, 44 and a half.
- 57:12SPEAKER_00: I think the Saints win a very, very close game.
- 57:15SPEAKER_00: I honestly could see another fourth quarter comeback for the for Tyler Shuck here.
- 57:20SPEAKER_00: Um I'm gonna take the Saints at home.
- 57:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll take the Saints.
- 57:24SPEAKER_01: I I love how I love their pace.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: When I watch them play, I love the way they push the ball around.
- 57:30SPEAKER_01: And I I like the way that they're they're resilient and they they continue to play throughout the end of the game.
- 57:35SPEAKER_01: They kind of start off a little dicey and then they just show us why they won like six games in a row to close out their season.
- 57:41SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, they they're the the run that they've been on uh is different than the Raiders, whereas the Raiders last season looked like crap to me the entire time.
- 57:50SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 57:50SPEAKER_01: Uh the Saints was a dark horse team for me to at least compete beyond what anybody might think the Saints would typically do for themselves.
- 57:59SPEAKER_01: Tyler Shuck is for real, Olave's for real, all the weapons on that team are for real.
- 58:04SPEAKER_01: Their rushing game scares me a little bit because they're still kind of leaning into Alvin Kamara a little bit more than I would have expected.
- 58:11SPEAKER_01: So that, but they don't it doesn't matter to them, they'll just sling it, which they do.
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:16SPEAKER_00: Um totally agree.
- 58:17SPEAKER_00: Uh we'll we'll go through the rest of the games.
- 58:20SPEAKER_00: Um, rapid fire.
- 58:21SPEAKER_00: So Falcons at Packers, Packers are favored by five and a half on Thursday night football.
- 58:26SPEAKER_00: I'm on the Packers.
- 58:29SPEAKER_00: Maybe actually, no, I'm gonna take the Packers.
- 58:32SPEAKER_00: Who are you on?
- 58:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm on the Packers, but yo, fire up your Londons and then fire up your pits.
- 58:38SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: Uh Panthers at Browns, the uh Browns are two and a half point underdogs in this spot.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: Um, Deshaun Watson played pretty well last week.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: And if they're gonna keep being in these like kind of weird close games like that, like they were last week with the Bucks.
- 58:57SPEAKER_00: Um, I think there's some fantasy viability to this Browns offense.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: Denzel Boston has had two good games in a row.
- 59:05SPEAKER_00: Um, you know what?
- 59:08SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Browns.
- 59:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, dude, here ready, real quick, hijack micro segment.
- 59:11SPEAKER_01: What do these quarterbacks have in common?
- 59:13SPEAKER_01: Jordan Love, Stroud, Lawrence, Matt Stafford, Cam Ward, Burrow, uh Carson Wentz, Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, Justin Herbert, Daniel Jones.
- 59:21SPEAKER_01: What do all those quarterbacks have in common?
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: They've beaten the Browns.
- 59:24SPEAKER_01: No, they're all finishing below Deshaun Watson in fantasy this year through two weeks.
- 59:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so uh I picked him up.
- 59:36SPEAKER_01: I picked Deshaun Watson up, and I feel like a scumbag, but god dang, in a in a two QB league, you know, you gotta do what you gotta do, and I I have him, and I'm I'm gonna see what happens.
- 59:45SPEAKER_00: So you're on the Browns?
- 59:46SPEAKER_01: I'm on the Browns, baby.
- 59:48SPEAKER_01: You know, let's mark it out, mark it out.
- 59:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, baby.
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: Almost upset, almost upset of the week, baby.
- 59:58SPEAKER_01: How about this?
- 59:58SPEAKER_01: I think they'll cover.
- 59:59SPEAKER_01: I think the Browns will cover.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, I'm definitely there.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_00: But so we're both on the Browns when winning at home.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_00: Um, the Chiefs traveled to Miami.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_00: I think again, the Chiefs have kind of figured out what they're doing on offense to some extent.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_00: Um, leaning into that running game, um, leaning into the play action off of that running game with Kenneth Walker.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_00: Um, getting Travis Kelsey involved again has been good for them.
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm gonna take the Chiefs here, and honestly, I think they cover.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_00: Uh, I think this is a practice for the Chiefs, Chiefs.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_00: Uh, Titans at Giants.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_00: Uh, the Giants are favored by two and a half at home.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_00: Obviously, no Jackson Dart.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_00: I don't think it matters.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_00: I think they just have a better team than the Titans, even with Jameis Winston.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Giants.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: I think at some point the Titans have to show us that they can do better.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_01: And I'm not sure if that's gonna happen this week, but I I I'm I'm gonna go Titans just because I I desperately want that to happen, and so I I'm kind of gonna speak it to an existence and say that Carnell Tate has like a serviceable game and that they can actually feature Cam Ward in the passing game instead of relying on him to get a couple of bogus rushing touchdowns to try to make this team look like something it's not in the box score.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_01: Titans.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_00: Titans, uh, to get a road win in in New York.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_00: Uh Seattle at Washington, Seattle is favored by seven on the spread here.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_00: Um, obviously, no Jaden Daniels, which is unfortunate for the Commanders.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_00: Marcus Mariota, I mean, he's a capable backup in terms of like, I don't I don't think they're gonna be terrible on offense.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_00: You know, I think they could still score you know, a couple touchdowns maybe on Seattle at home.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but I'm gonna take Seattle here, even with Drew Locke.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_00: I I think they have Jadarian Price still.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_00: Um obviously uh Zach Sharp Charbonnet is still out, but Jackson Smith and Jigba is is one of the you know three or four best receivers in the NFL in in the last 12 months.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_00: He's probably played the best of it of anybody.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna take Seattle here.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_00: Um, but I do think that this is a close game.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, look out for Emmanuel Wilson, too, for no reason at all, which is weird.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: But yeah, uh Seattle.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_01: Seattle, I don't think it's close.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_00: Arizona travels to San Francisco to take on the 49ers.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_00: The 49ers are favored by eight and a half.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the 49ers here.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_00: I do like Arizona's offense, but um, I'm taking the 49ers.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_00: I don't like Marvin Harrison.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_01: I do not like Arizona's offense.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_01: Uh I like I like Love, and that's it.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_01: I like Michael Wilson a little bit.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_00: I like Trey McBride.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_01: I forgot about Trey McBride.
- 1:02:52SPEAKER_00: I like their offense.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_00: Suddenly you like a lot of their offense.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_01: You know, their quarterback for being like a like he'd be a top-tier backup.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_01: He'd be a top-tier backup to me.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: Uh 49ers all day.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_01: We're not we're not gonna Arizona is not a serious football team right now.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_00: The Vikings travel to Tampa Bay where the Vikings are catching a point and a half on the road.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_00: Um I'm gonna take the Bucks.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_00: I I think that I think that Baker has a good game um against Brian Flores.
- 1:03:25SPEAKER_00: I think I'm gonna take the Bucks.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_00: I they they're not gonna go 0-3.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_01: They looked bad.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_01: They don't look like they got it all going on.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_01: I dropped, I dropped my bucks.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't like what I'm seeing uh Vikings.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: I think they're a uh overall stronger football team, even with Carson Wentz at the helm.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: And the last game of the week, Monday night football, the Eagles traveled to uh Chicago and Soldier Field, where they're four and a half point road favorites.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_00: Obviously, there's no official word on if Jaden or if Caleb Williams will be able to play in this game.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_00: Uh even if he does, I can't imagine it's gonna look super great because he hasn't practiced.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm gonna take the Eagles.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, the Eagles.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_01: I don't think Khalif Raymond's gonna put the game on his back for the Bears.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_00: Well, now that we have picked all of the games, it is time to tail the tailgate.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_00: We're gonna go ping pong style, and we are each gonna give you eight tail the tailgate picks.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_00: So my first pick, um, we talked about it um in one of the opening games there, traveling to Pittsburgh.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm gonna take the Bengals minus two in the first half.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_00: I just have no faith in the Pittsburgh Steelers offense, even at home.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Bengals minus two in the first half.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_00: What's your first pick?
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_01: I'm taking the Bills money line, or I'm just taking them minus five and I'm smashing that all day.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_01: That's that's a no-brainer.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_00: The uh second pick that I have, it was one of the last games we discussed.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_00: Uh Seattle traveling to Washington, and we have two backup quarterbacks in this game.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_00: Drew Locke, Marcus Mariota.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_00: Um, Seattle's defense can you know obviously contained any offense in the NFL.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the under 40 and a half in this game.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go Derrick Henry over 89 and a half rushing yards.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_01: I just need him to do that.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_00: I love that angle.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_00: I I think it's a great spot on a national stage.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_00: I think that I think that's a great spot for him.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: Um, an AFC South game, we discussed the Texans and the Colts.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Colts plus three.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_00: What is your third pick?
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_01: Cowboys money line, and uh, you know, you dropped it, you combined that with little Dak Prescott over 264 and a half passing yards all day.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_00: All day.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_00: Big game.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_00: That cooks up a plus three twenty little seam same game parlay for Taylor there.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_00: Um my favorite.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: Fourth pick is actually going to be the Cardinals in their eight and a half that they're getting.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_00: Like I said, I like a lot of what this offense has.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_00: I know they're traveling to San Francisco, who's looked pretty good, but San Francisco has traveled a lot already in this season.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_00: I know that they're at home here, but I I like Arizona's ability to be able to come in and at least manufacture some offense and keep this close.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_00: I'm going to take the Cardinals plus eight and a half.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_00: What is your fourth pick?
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_01: I don't feel good about this one, but uh Justin Herbert under 222 and a half passing yards.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_01: I uh I wish I had a different bet.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_01: I wish I didn't have to roll that out there.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_01: But here we are.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_01: That's the landscape that we're in right now.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_00: Justin Herbert under 222 yards.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_00: I like it.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_01: Um, too, that gets tipped.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, traveling home.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_01: And a and a pick.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_00: Hey, and a pick.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_00: That would get your odds pretty good.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_00: Um, my fifth pick, I'm gonna take.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_00: We talked about this already.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_00: Um, the Jets and the Lions uh in Detroit.
- 1:07:15SPEAKER_00: We we we've seen it already two weeks in a row.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: The Jets are live dogs.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_00: Um, they they are able to keep games kind of muddy and close.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_00: They can run the ball just well enough where they can chew up some clock.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_00: And Geno Smith has been the serviceable version of Geno Smith.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_00: And I've not been impressed by the Lions defense against either team that they played, the Saints and the Bills.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_00: Um, and the Lions tend to play in some kind of weird games in forward field.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_00: I'm taking the Jets plus six and a half on the road.
- 1:07:50SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_01: Here's a little saucy money line, I believe, in you you know, you got uh LaParlay Bengals money line, but you you add that in with T.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_01: Higgins getting 50 yards again, Joe Burrow with a touchdown.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_01: Too easy.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_00: That gets Taylor a plus 160 parlay there, same game parlay in the Bengals and the Steelers.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_00: My next pick is the Raiders.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_00: We talked about them, they're pesky.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_00: And and I know I picked the Saints, but I think they keep this game close.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm gonna take the Raiders in the first half in New Orleans plus two and a half.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_00: I think they could be winning this game at halftime.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_00: And like I said, I could see another Tyler Shuck fourth quarter comeback um just from them kind of like sleepwalking after their comeback last week.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_00: Um, give me the Raiders plus two and a half in the first half.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_00: What's your next pick?
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_01: My next pick, you give me Sam Laporta again.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_01: 45 and a half receiving yards.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_01: This would be the third time in a row he's done it.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_01: And uh it just seems like uh if it can happen, it will.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_01: Too easy.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_01: Smash.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_00: Um my second to last pick will be the Rams, who are traveling to Den to Denver, Colorado, um, for Sunday night football.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Rams here.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_00: I just think that we talked about it in the game preview.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_00: I just like the way that they match up in this kind of moment and on Sunday night football.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_00: I kind of like those chess pieces a lot more that the Rams have versus what the Broncos can throw at the Rams.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_00: I think Aaron Donald has a big game on Sunday night football.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_00: I can just hear Chris Collins were saying, oh man, you take this guy out of football for three years, and he's still one of the best.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_00: He's still one of the best.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the Rams money line on the road.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_00: What is your last pick?
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_01: I mentioned Sam Laporta, but if you drop that in there with the Lions money line, you give me Laporta plus 40, and then you add in Brees Hall under 70 rushing yards for plus 195.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_01: Uh I'll throw, I'll throw$5 on that and see what happens.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_00: Uh and my last pick is the Colts and the Texans under 42 and a half.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_00: I talked about this in the game breakdown.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_00: Uh, I just think two teams that know each other well, have played each other many a times, um, and also have not played well recently.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_00: Both of them are 0-2.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_00: I could see them really trying to feel each other out and taking a while to get a score here.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the under 42 and a half in Colts and Texans.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_00: So to recap our picks, I am on Bengals first half minus two, the Seattle Washington under 40 and a half, Colts plus three, Colts, Texans under 42 and a half, Cardinals plus eight and a half, Jets plus six and a half, Raiders first half plus two and a half, and Rams money line.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_00: Taylor is on the Bills minus five, Derrick Henry over 89 and a half, Cowboys money line parlayed with Dak Prescott over 264 yards, Herbert under 222.5 yards, also Dak over 264, Bengals money line with T.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_00: Higgins over 50, Joe Burrow for one touchdown for a 160 parlay, Sam Laporta over 45 and a half, and Lions money line, Laporta over 40, Brees Hall under 70 for a plus 195 parlay.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_00: Well, we tailed the tailgate.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_00: We have broken down all the games.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_00: Taylor, the last thing I always ask everybody that joins the tailgate, did you enjoy your time in the tailgate?
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_01: I enjoyed it uh more than I ever thought I would.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm gonna have to like actually learn more about sports so that way when you ask me to come back on here, it's not just me scrambling to find the right thing to say uh and pulling it straight out of you nowhere.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_01: So, yeah.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_01: I I loved it.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_01: I love being here.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_00: That's awesome.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_00: Well, I had a good time chopping it up with you.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_00: Um the uh I appreciate you spending some time here in the tailgate, sir.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_00: I appreciate you, man, as always.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_00: All right, it is time to wrap up the tailgate cam podcast for the day.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_00: And first and foremost, we must always give out a gold star of the week, and that must go to Monday night football, or as Devontae Adams probably called it Funday night football, because he was going off on Monday night, playing amazing at receiver for the Los Angeles Rams.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_00: If Puka Nakua was a late scratch for this game, so he did not play, but that did not stop Devontae from being our gold star of the week because he had eight catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns, including a 64-yard catch.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_00: He was absolutely balling.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_00: He was our gold star of the week, and that brings us to our last segment of every episode, a what to watch for.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_00: And this weekend, we have a bevy of big college football matchups.
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_00: Two that I'm going to highlight.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_00: One, I'm gonna be a homer on both of these.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_00: Mississippi State hosts my Mizzou Tigers, and maybe the best quarterback in the country, Kamario Taylor, and one of the most underrated and under talked about quarterbacks in the country, Austin Simmons from Mizzou, who probably has a decent amount of bitter hatred for Mississippi State given that he was at Ole Miss for two years.
- 1:13:38SPEAKER_00: So should be a very, very exciting, explosive matchup.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_00: And then I also have to take you down to the swamp where the Florida Gators, ranked number 21, host number four Ole Miss off of that massive win against LSU last week.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_00: Me and Chevy talked about it on the podcast just a few days ago.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_00: And now we are gonna see if Ole Miss can repeat that success that they found against LSU.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_00: Now taking it on the road with Winadad Chambliss against Jaden run the ball.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_00: That is at 3 30 Eastern Time on ABC this Saturday, September 26th.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_00: Florida, Ole Miss, 3:30, Mississippi State, Missouri, 7.45 Eastern Time.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_00: Let's get it cracking.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for listening to the Tailgate Cam podcast.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_00: As always, I am your host, Cameron Clark.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_00: If you listen to this podcast, please rate, comment, like, review, subscribe, and share.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for listening yet again.
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_00: Peace.
