- 0:10Speaker 3: Music The following feature has been rated R by the

- 0:57Speaker 5: Our nuclear reactor, pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:32Speaker 1: One day I'll put you right in the face and.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Then you'll respect me.
- 1:36Speaker 7: I'll believe it when I see it, machacho.
- 1:47Speaker 8: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:49Speaker 6: I'm Brian.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm Patrick.
- 1:52Speaker 6: I'm David.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So about the raid.
- 1:56Speaker 8: Anyway, we're heading back with our tangents to get into
- 2:02Speaker 8: many other things.
- 2:03Speaker 6: Yeah, we'll tree branch like crazy in the middle of this,
- 2:05Speaker 6: I'm sure.
- 2:07Speaker 8: But, okay, so now we're back for the raid.
- 2:11Speaker 4: It's time for Sofa Theater.
- 2:14Speaker 8: Sofa Theater. All right.
- 2:34Speaker 9: This week's Sofa Theater feature.
- 2:37Speaker 8: Is The Raid Redemption, director Gareth Evans. The plot, according
- 3:00Speaker 8: to IMDb, is the SWAT team becomes trapped in a
- 3:02Speaker 8: tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of
- 3:05Speaker 8: killers and thugs. Spoiler alert, we're going to ruin the
- 3:09Speaker 8: hell out of this, I'm sure. So plan accordingly. Go
- 3:12Speaker 8: watch it now.
- 3:13Speaker 6: You have been warned.
- 3:15Speaker 8: So where do you want to begin with The Raid Redemption?
- 3:21Speaker 6: I guess, you know, what year did it come out?
- 3:23Speaker 9: It is.
- 3:24Speaker 8: Are we talking....
- 3:27Speaker 1: Original release date.
- 3:28Speaker 8: Well, see, I mean.
- 3:29Speaker 1: They were at.
- 3:31Speaker 8: I don't know about Indonesia. It's got the Toronto Film
- 3:35Speaker 8: Fest version of it. It is September 2011. Sundance doesn't
- 3:41Speaker 8: hit until January. Indonesia doesn't come out until March 2012.
- 3:44Speaker 8: That's impressive.
- 3:46Speaker 6: So here's the deal.
- 3:47Speaker 1: For 2011, not that original.
- 3:51Speaker 10: No.
- 3:52Speaker 6: When did Dread come out?
- 3:53Speaker 8: That's the thing. I know we were discussing this earlier
- 3:56Speaker 8: when we were talking about how much they're going to
- 3:58Speaker 8: be similar. And this is something I've heard recently that
- 4:03Speaker 8: Dread actually started shooting beforehand. So they, I'm assuming, had
- 4:09Speaker 8: their screenplay well finished. But because they're a huge studio movie,
- 4:14Speaker 8: they're a way bigger production, it took them a lot
- 4:16Speaker 8: longer to finish, a lot longer to edit, and add
- 4:18Speaker 8: in their special effects and all that. So this one
- 4:22Speaker 8: came out sooner. But technically, I don't know. I'd heard
- 4:26Speaker 8: Dredd actually started their principal shooting before Raid Redemption ever
- 4:31Speaker 8: got started.
- 4:32Speaker 9: Gotcha.
- 4:33Speaker 6: I guess we should clarify that. It's like the storyline
- 4:37Speaker 6: is incredibly similar. It's like building.
- 4:41Speaker 1: One-on-one-one.
- 4:42Speaker 6: The same.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Just not super future.
- 4:45Speaker 6: Entire building is inhabited by gangsters and mobsters and street thugs.
- 4:49Speaker 6: And you have like the crime lord guy living at
- 4:51Speaker 6: the top kind of orchestrating everything as to please try
- 4:54Speaker 6: to come in and take him down.
- 4:55Speaker 1: There's a couple things that I like, a couple things
- 4:57Speaker 1: I don't like about it. And I think my major
- 4:59Speaker 1: concern with it is it's not it's it's not John
- 5:03Speaker 1: Woo and it's not Kung Fu Theater. It is like realistic,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but not realistic Tony Jaa kickboxing kind of thing. It's
- 5:14Speaker 1: kind of like.
- 5:15Speaker 8: It's realistic and it's bloody as hell.
- 5:17Speaker 1: It's bloody as fuck.
- 5:18Speaker 8: But it's not realistic in the fact that any one
- 5:21Speaker 8: hit on anyone would shut down any fight. And we
- 5:25Speaker 8: decided they would be a bloodbath if they actually did continue.
- 5:29Speaker 6: There's so many nights. Usually for this type of choreography.
- 5:33Speaker 4: It's just.
- 5:34Speaker 6: blunt force but there was so many machetes and knives
- 5:37Speaker 6: and so much stabbing going on that's that's actually.
- 5:39Speaker 8: What i liked about it as i went into it
- 5:41Speaker 8: because it almost changed it again almost like going up
- 5:44Speaker 8: in your levels in the building it's because it starts
- 5:47Speaker 8: off as a gun battle like that whole first part
- 5:50Speaker 8: in there you get them going up those first.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Five levels metal gear silent stealth and.
- 5:55Speaker 8: Then that that part where they're on the on the
- 5:58Speaker 8: different levels firing each other. I'm like, this is just
- 6:00Speaker 8: a war movie at this point. These are just troops
- 6:03Speaker 8: just locked down, firing at people.
- 6:06Speaker 1: On level one, they give ten fucks. And then it
- 6:08Speaker 1: just starts dramatically decreasing until zero fucks are given and
- 6:12Speaker 1: they're stabbing each other with fluorescent bulbs.
- 6:15Speaker 6: Folding tables.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Fucking folding tables, man.
- 6:19Speaker 6: But I think that's what's.
- 6:20Speaker 8: Kind of cool about it is that you get that
- 6:23Speaker 8: part in and even then, cops are kind of like
- 6:25Speaker 8: just taking people out while they're sleeping they're just cleaning
- 6:28Speaker 8: house at that point you're just like oh this is
- 6:30Speaker 8: gonna we're watching it going man nobody's dying this is
- 6:33Speaker 8: great they're only on level 5 this movie's almost over
- 6:35Speaker 8: right oh shit like all of a sudden it changes gears.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And like we get we.
- 6:42Speaker 8: Get into like the knife fight portion and it like
- 6:46Speaker 8: that kind of comes and goes the whole time but
- 6:48Speaker 8: then it becomes just way more hand to hand combat
- 6:51Speaker 8: the further up you go it's just nothing but beating
- 6:53Speaker 8: the hell out of each other With your fist and
- 6:56Speaker 8: your feet and whatever random fluorescent bulbs.
- 6:58Speaker 6: I remember talking about Resident Evil earlier. It kind of
- 7:00Speaker 6: reminds me. I think it was Resident Evil 4 where
- 7:01Speaker 6: it was like the infamous knife fight.
- 7:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 6: It was all like real time. Yeah, yeah. A lot
- 7:06Speaker 6: of that kind of stuff. It was just a lot
- 7:07Speaker 6: of like hand-in-hand combat. But, you know, most of these
- 7:10Speaker 6: guys had one knife in a hand. And it would just,
- 7:12Speaker 6: for some reason, even like 75% of the way through
- 7:15Speaker 6: the movie, I was still kind of like shocked when
- 7:17Speaker 6: all of a sudden someone gets stabbed in the neck
- 7:18Speaker 6: or stomach real quick. I'm like, oh, like. Wow, you
- 7:21Speaker 6: were punching. Reverse guillotine.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Reverse guillotine is where it is.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Man, there was some brutal, brutal stuff in there.
- 7:26Speaker 1: You know what I think the movie's missing? Other than like...
- 7:29Speaker 1: Donnie Yen? Donnie Yen. Is an outside story arc, which
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure like number two or number three has
- 7:35Speaker 1: to have. But I need some like.
- 7:39Speaker 1: We have that whole thing going on in there, and sure,
- 7:41Speaker 1: there's the little plot twist where the one bad guy
- 7:44Speaker 1: is actually the brother, and that's great and all.
- 7:46Speaker 9: Spoiler.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Spoiler.
- 7:49Speaker 8: It's 2011, everyone. I threw it out there.
- 7:51Speaker 6: I'm joking.
- 7:52Speaker 1: But I need, like, an outside story arc. Maybe, like,
- 7:55Speaker 1: we have the one group of snipers. We need another
- 7:58Speaker 1: group of cop snipers.
- 7:59Speaker 8: What if we had a cop on the outside talking
- 8:02Speaker 8: to our main guy with a radio, and he was, like,
- 8:04Speaker 8: picking him up some Twinkies, and he's just like... He
- 8:07Speaker 8: gets roped into it somehow, and then the whole time
- 8:10Speaker 8: we just kind of check in with him every 15 minutes.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Is that the first Die Hard movie? That's the first
- 8:14Speaker 1: Die Hard.
- 8:16Speaker 8: I'm making my bad Die Hard reference.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Did anybody see Die Hard 6?
- 8:20Speaker 6: Or whatever the latest one is?
- 8:21Speaker 8: I saw Die Hard in Russia.
- 8:23Speaker 6: I've only watched two.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It's so good. It's so good. Did you see him
- 8:26Speaker 1: hang on that helicopter in the end?
- 8:28Speaker 6: I've only watched two. I don't want to taint it.
- 8:31Speaker 6: I've only watched two. Two diehards. I've not watched anything after. No,
- 8:36Speaker 6: even three is fun. Is the third one good?
- 8:38Speaker 1: Three is probably the best one in my opinion.
- 8:39Speaker 6: This one was Samuel L.
- 8:40Speaker 10: right?
- 8:40Speaker 6: Where he has to walk down the street with the
- 8:41Speaker 6: signs and all that crazy stuff.
- 8:42Speaker 8: It's not normal because it's more of a buddy cop
- 8:44Speaker 8: thing than normal diehard routine in one and two.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I liked the bad guy in four.
- 8:50Speaker 8: Four's interesting, but it turns that corner of fucking ridiculous.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yeah, the end, especially the Harrier jet.
- 8:58Speaker 6: All of it. So much of it.
- 8:59Speaker 8: I'm just like, this is not what Die Hard was.
- 9:02Speaker 6: You guys have lost your way.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Yeah, they've moved away from Die Hard so much. Which,
- 9:08Speaker 1: if there was an air vent crawling scene in the raid,
- 9:10Speaker 1: that would have been sweet.
- 9:12Speaker 8: I mean, we do have them inside walls at one point,
- 9:15Speaker 8: and they chop through a floor.
- 9:16Speaker 6: I'm surprised they didn't do that. It seems like that
- 9:18Speaker 6: would have been a no-brainer to have them crawling through
- 9:19Speaker 6: the vents at some point.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I mean, there is the one thing that would have
- 9:22Speaker 1: made it the best, which is zombies.
- 9:24Speaker 8: Yeah, he kept saying that throughout the entire movie, everyone.
- 9:27Speaker 8: At any point, going down the hallway, you'd be like, zombies.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Would make this so much better. It would have been
- 9:32Speaker 1: so much better! Because then you've got that thing where
- 9:34Speaker 1: it's like, you know in the third one, and I
- 9:37Speaker 1: don't know this, but I would suspect if I was
- 9:39Speaker 1: making it, You've got cops versus bad guys, and then
- 9:43Speaker 1: it's like eventually you're going to have to do cops
- 9:44Speaker 1: versus bad guys, and then another set of bad guys,
- 9:47Speaker 1: like the Koreans are going to be there. And then
- 9:50Speaker 1: it's like you've got cops, bad guys, Koreans, and then zombies.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Zombies give zero fucks.
- 9:57Speaker 8: But what's the fifth army? The eagle.
- 9:59Speaker 7: The eagle.
- 10:00Speaker 8: Eagles.
- 10:01Speaker 6: And that's when it ends.
- 10:03Speaker 1: The Nazgul just pop out of nowhere.
- 10:05Speaker 6: Everybody's like, damn it, let's go home. The Eagles are here.
- 10:08Speaker 1: You can never beat the Eagles. And why aren't they
- 10:10Speaker 1: just there from the beginning? What are they doing the
- 10:13Speaker 1: whole time?
- 10:14Speaker 6: That was my big gripe reading the books is that
- 10:17Speaker 6: I think there's, isn't there three? I think there's three pivotal, like,
- 10:22Speaker 6: we're screwed moments. And in all three, Gandalf... Because there's
- 10:25Speaker 6: like in The Hobbit, when they climb up the trees
- 10:27Speaker 6: and they catch the trees on fire, and you're like,
- 10:29Speaker 6: they're dead. He calls the eagles. But then when they
- 10:32Speaker 6: go to the Black Gate and they're about to get...
- 10:35Speaker 6: I don't think they did this in the movies, though.
- 10:37Speaker 6: When they're at the gate at the end, did they?
- 10:39Speaker 1: Lord of the Rings, yeah.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Okay.
- 10:40Speaker 6: Because, yeah, because then it's like they get surrounded and
- 10:42Speaker 6: the eagles show up. You know, and at the end
- 10:44Speaker 6: of The Hobbit, that's what made The Hobbit frustrating, is
- 10:46Speaker 6: he did it twice in the same book, right? At
- 10:48Speaker 6: the end, the eagles show up, and it's like... Why
- 10:50Speaker 6: don't the eagles just do everything? Why did you just
- 10:53Speaker 6: send the eagles to Lonely Mountain?
- 10:55Speaker 1: Why are they even walking?
- 10:56Speaker 8: Why are they walking for 14 hours?
- 10:58Speaker 1: Now, see, wouldn't that have been cool? Wouldn't that have
- 11:01Speaker 1: been cool if they were like, Gandalf's like, so we
- 11:03Speaker 1: got to take this thing over here and do this
- 11:04Speaker 1: thing for these dwarves and we'll ride these eagles. It'll
- 11:07Speaker 1: be great. And then Smaug kills them. Smaug's just like, eagles,
- 11:10Speaker 1: fuck y'all. I'm Benedict Cumberbatch.
- 11:14Speaker 6: So that should have been like Sauron's real plan. He
- 11:17Speaker 6: should have been like, how do we kill these damn birds? Right?
- 11:20Speaker 6: These birds have saved Gandalf's ass so many times, we
- 11:23Speaker 6: need to take out these birds before we make any
- 11:25Speaker 6: moves on Gondor.
- 11:26Speaker 8: This little hobbit dude is not a threat, but these
- 11:28Speaker 8: damn eagles gotta go.
- 11:29Speaker 6: No doubt.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And the soles of his foot are so rough, he
- 11:32Speaker 1: can go anywhere. Altering feet. And that was the raid.
- 11:37Speaker 8: The raid!
- 11:38Speaker 2: So.
- 11:39Speaker 6: We needed.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You know that the one guy's gonna be bad. They
- 11:43Speaker 1: need some other plot line.
- 11:44Speaker 6: You know the police are gonna be bad in the
- 11:46Speaker 6: next one. You know the police are gonna be bad.
- 11:48Speaker 6: If they continued as storyline... It's going to be like
- 11:51Speaker 6: he gets home and they're all kind of like gritting
- 11:53Speaker 6: their teeth like, yeah, well done, buddy. We're going to
- 11:56Speaker 6: kill you tomorrow. You can tell it's kind of going
- 12:00Speaker 6: that route where like the whole police department is shady. Because,
- 12:03Speaker 6: I mean, you know, the one cop was shady for
- 12:05Speaker 6: whatever reason.
- 12:06Speaker 1: You know what would be sick?
- 12:07Speaker 6: Ready for this?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Precinct 13. That's where the second.
- 12:11Speaker 6: One takes off. Oh, there you go.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Those are re-hit. The brother of the guy. The brother
- 12:19Speaker 1: of the bad guy is another bad guy who does
- 12:21Speaker 1: a Precinct 13 style hit on the precinct. It happens
- 12:24Speaker 1: to be in the 13th district. And then in the
- 12:27Speaker 1: third one, the North Koreans get there.
- 12:28Speaker 6: The zombie North Koreans.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Zombie North Koreans.
- 12:33Speaker 8: I think that would be a good way to turn
- 12:35Speaker 8: it back around since, you know, they've already done Assault on...
- 12:38Speaker 8: They've already remade it anyway.
- 12:40Speaker 6: Well, maybe this feud goes... Well, no. Star Wars happens
- 12:43Speaker 6: before now, doesn't it? Because this was a long time ago.
- 12:46Speaker 6: I was going to say, maybe this goes on for
- 12:48Speaker 6: thousands of years, and that's why these people are into
- 12:51Speaker 6: Star Wars movies now.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Time's linear, man. That's right. It could be going on
- 12:54Speaker 1: tomorrow or yesterday.
- 12:55Speaker 8: So at any point, the Millennium Falcon just whips in
- 12:57Speaker 8: and starts nailing people with lasers.
- 12:59Speaker 6: I like that the Sith apparently recruit gangsters from Indonesia.
- 13:04Speaker 6: Is that how that works? Like, Palpatine drops in and
- 13:06Speaker 6: is like, hey.
- 13:07Speaker 8: That seems more like a Java movie.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Do you all want unlimited power?
- 13:10Speaker 6: That little short.
- 13:11Speaker 8: Guy seems like he would be hanging out with Java.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Executive Order 66.
- 13:17Speaker 6: Maybe that's where Salacious Crumb came from. He kind of
- 13:19Speaker 6: looks Indonesian. Kind of talks Indonesian. I mean, you know. Sorry,
- 13:25Speaker 6: Indonesian listeners.
- 13:27Speaker 1: We love you, but we don't like you either.
- 13:29Speaker 6: We love your little black noses.
- 13:33Speaker 4: And Muppet ears.
- 13:35Speaker 6: And mop tops.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Jim Henson's rolling over in his grave.
- 13:37Speaker 6: Sorry, Jim.
- 13:40Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 13:40Speaker 8: So you're definitely super schooled in the martial art films.
- 13:46Speaker 8: How does it hold up battle-wise? Because I think it's
- 13:50Speaker 8: pretty damn amazing, but I still feel like I'm catching
- 13:52Speaker 8: up on martial arts movies.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Okay, so here's the deal. It's interesting in that it
- 13:56Speaker 1: has a lot of gratuitous action that is very violent
- 13:58Speaker 1: and things that you want to see you are right
- 14:01Speaker 1: to pick out that most of those hits are just
- 14:03Speaker 1: unrealistic because people wouldn't get up from them.
- 14:05Speaker 6: But they're awesome.
- 14:06Speaker 1: They're awesome. It's like super, it is like John Woo
- 14:09Speaker 1: films without guns.
- 14:10Speaker 5: How awesome.
- 14:10Speaker 6: There was so many back and knees blown out in there.
- 14:13Speaker 6: And it was always like the fifth hit in a chain.
- 14:15Speaker 6: It was just like pop, pop, pop, knees.
- 14:18Speaker 1: And then there's a Filipino style of fighting that they
- 14:21Speaker 1: do in this with the knife. And it's, it's awesome.
- 14:23Speaker 1: It's beautiful. It's not a dignified style. So you don't
- 14:27Speaker 1: want to see it though. It's not like, oh, he's
- 14:29Speaker 1: got the black mantis style and I can't wait to
- 14:31Speaker 1: see that go up against whatever. So it's not the
- 14:34Speaker 1: same kind of nostalgia you get for Kung Fu theater.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And it's just violence for the sake of violence.
- 14:40Speaker 6: I feel like someone watched Oldboy and was just like,
- 14:42Speaker 6: that hallway scene was so good. Can we do that
- 14:46Speaker 6: for an hour and 45 minutes?
- 14:48Speaker 1: We talked during the whole time and we talked about
- 14:50Speaker 1: the Star Wars trailer the whole.
- 14:52Speaker 6: Time because we were bored.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Not the whole time. And we didn't need the story
- 14:55Speaker 1: because the story was so simple and there weren't zombies.
- 14:59Speaker 6: Yeah, this is, it was definitely a fan service.
- 15:01Speaker 8: It's not bad.
- 15:02Speaker 6: Kind of movie. It's not bad. No, and I even
- 15:04Speaker 6: recommend it. I think it's really good for action. If
- 15:07Speaker 6: you enjoy martial arts stuff, and yeah.
- 15:09Speaker 1: But like, would I have loved to have seen a
- 15:11Speaker 1: tiny little backstory where like, you know, the guy trained forever.
- 15:15Speaker 6: Someone needed a cute daughter waiting at home for him
- 15:18Speaker 6: to come back or something like that. Something.
- 15:20Speaker 8: And he's, well, our main dude's got a kid coming.
- 15:24Speaker 6: Or no, like, oh no, no. The cliche Asian, Asian
- 15:27Speaker 6: back thing. Like someone's wife or sister has like a
- 15:31Speaker 6: mysterious illness and he's like, so much money whatever and
- 15:34Speaker 6: like after he does this mission he's gonna get a
- 15:36Speaker 6: pay raise at the police station he's gonna be able
- 15:38Speaker 6: to like cure that mysterious.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Disease you really really need Donnie Yen just taking his
- 15:44Speaker 1: groceries home opening the door and he's like I don't
- 15:47Speaker 1: wanna fight in fact I promised my master I would
- 15:50Speaker 1: never fight.
- 15:53Speaker 11: Really?
- 15:53Speaker 6: Legit?
- 15:54Speaker 1: No, not me.
- 15:55Speaker 6: Oh, I thought you were saying when you take a
- 15:58Speaker 6: shell in, you're like, I will not kill anyone, master.
- 16:00Speaker 6: I promise.
- 16:01Speaker 8: We're going to shoot a movie around you, Patrick.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I don't fight anymore for very specific reasons. But what
- 16:06Speaker 1: if Donnie Yen had promised his master that he would
- 16:08Speaker 1: never do hamster style again?
- 16:10Speaker 6: He killed those school children. Wouldn't it be like praying
- 16:13Speaker 6: mantis since they have the knives? That'd be like Praying Mantis.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Praying Mantis is two fingers, man.
- 16:18Speaker 6: Oh, my bad. Praying Mantis style already exists. My fault.
- 16:21Speaker 8: Totally.
- 16:21Speaker 1: You need to watch Marco Polo.
- 16:23Speaker 6: Okay.
- 16:24Speaker 9: God.
- 16:25Speaker 6: Are you getting paid by that?
- 16:27Speaker 8: He has recommended that mostly to you, David, about 17 times.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Well, it's just so stylized. You will absolutely love it.
- 16:34Speaker 1: So many orgies.
- 16:35Speaker 6: Is it new? Brand new.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It's Netflix. They released the whole season in one film.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Oh, okay. Good deal.
- 16:39Speaker 1: And it's downloadable on thepiratebay.com.
- 16:42Speaker 9: Yes.
- 16:43Speaker 6: I'm pretty stoked about that.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Don't be stoked about that. It's going to be horrible,
- 16:46Speaker 1: just like Ben Affleck. Some superheroes you can't save. He's
- 16:50Speaker 1: a lawyer who does backflips. He's blind.
- 16:55Speaker 6: But he's got sonar. It depends on how it's done. True.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Just ask Chris Pratt.
- 17:05Speaker 6: Like I said, I don't know if I said it
- 17:07Speaker 6: on here yet, but when we were talking about it earlier,
- 17:09Speaker 6: I'm honestly not a big fan of the majority of
- 17:11Speaker 6: DC people. It's mostly Batman, but There's been, like, honestly,
- 17:16Speaker 6: The Flash. I've always thought The Flash is kind of like,
- 17:20Speaker 6: he's The Flash.
- 17:20Speaker 5: I get it.
- 17:21Speaker 6: You run fast. I guess that's worth something. But when
- 17:24Speaker 6: I saw, I think it's called Flashpoint Paradox. Was that
- 17:28Speaker 6: the little animated DC movie he got a couple years ago?
- 17:30Speaker 6: Where it's about where he, I'm not worried about spoilers.
- 17:34Speaker 6: He goes back in time to save his mom. But
- 17:37Speaker 6: by doing that, yeah, he can run so fast he
- 17:39Speaker 6: can go back in time. He goes back in time
- 17:41Speaker 6: to save his mom. And it completely changes the timeline
- 17:44Speaker 6: from that point on. Paradox. To where he kind of like,
- 17:47Speaker 6: you know, wakes up back in now, but he doesn't
- 17:49Speaker 6: recognize anything. Everything is completely different. And they took so many, dude,
- 17:54Speaker 6: Aquaman was awesome. And all these people that usually I'm like, meh.
- 17:59Speaker 6: They were so incredible in this version. I was like, no,
- 18:03Speaker 6: I'm totally feeling Flash now. It's possible. It's all about writing.
- 18:07Speaker 6: It really is all about writing. And if they write
- 18:10Speaker 6: Daredevil well, he'll be great.
- 18:11Speaker 8: That's the difference with DC, though.
- 18:13Speaker 6: That seems to be their move.
- 18:14Speaker 8: They can do longer series. They just can't knock out
- 18:18Speaker 8: the movies. Because the TV shows are doing well. Smallville
- 18:23Speaker 8: was good, but I'm talking about even now. People love
- 18:26Speaker 8: Arrow now. I'm not sold on it because I'm not
- 18:28Speaker 8: really thrilled with that Arrow guy. But like the new
- 18:30Speaker 8: Flash series, I wasn't paying attention. And then I just
- 18:34Speaker 8: kind of started catching them. And I'm like, these are
- 18:36Speaker 8: actually pretty fun. They're pretty well put together.
- 18:39Speaker 6: Let me ask a question.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Because I don't know a lot about DC. But has
- 18:42Speaker 1: the Arrow actually already been done? Was the arrow something
- 18:46Speaker 1: that we had no idea already existed? Was in fact
- 18:51Speaker 1: the arrow the Batman. Sorry, we can go on now.
- 18:55Speaker 8: I think Batman outdates arrow.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I hate to tell you.
- 18:57Speaker 1: No, that's what I'm saying though. But why is the
- 19:00Speaker 1: arrow the Batman?
- 19:01Speaker 8: Because the arrow doesn't have a big bat suit thing.
- 19:04Speaker 8: He usually walks around.
- 19:05Speaker 6: With his shirt off and girls like him.
- 19:06Speaker 4: He's rich.
- 19:07Speaker 6: He's rich.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Millionaire playboy. He tries to protect a single city. Hides
- 19:12Speaker 1: his identity. He has arrows.
- 19:15Speaker 8: And specifically in this new, it started off different, so
- 19:19Speaker 8: I'm told, in this new series.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I haven't seen it.
- 19:21Speaker 8: Specifically now has made a point that he will not
- 19:24Speaker 8: kill anyone.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Oh, but that's only after season two, right?
- 19:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:27Speaker 8: In the very beginning, he was taking people out.
- 19:29Speaker 6: Oh, okay. They're like, you.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Can't kill them, Arrow.
- 19:32Speaker 7: And he's like, why?
- 19:33Speaker 6: Thank you, Arrow.
- 19:35Speaker 9: Why?
- 19:38Speaker 8: But supposedly now, Alfred told me I could. At that point,
- 19:41Speaker 8: I was like, how very Batman of him.
- 19:43Speaker 1: He has a British butler.
- 19:44Speaker 6: Ooh, can we complain about Gotham? Have you guys watched Gotham?
- 19:47Speaker 6: I've only seen about a few episodes. I'm not going
- 19:49Speaker 6: to watch it. I could complain so much about that.
- 19:51Speaker 8: I feel like it's well produced, but I'm just kind
- 19:54Speaker 8: of bored with it.
- 19:54Speaker 6: Alfred's a dick. I mean, Alfred in any version of Batman,
- 20:00Speaker 6: no matter how different a Batman story is, Alfred is
- 20:02Speaker 6: always the nicest guy. you know, his pseudo-dad, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 6: he is there.
- 20:08Speaker 11: For Bruce Wayne.
- 20:08Speaker 5: I'm sorry, Mr.
- 20:09Speaker 6: Wayne, did your parents die? No, he strikes them. In, like,
- 20:12Speaker 6: episode two or three, he hit Bruce Wayne. And he's
- 20:14Speaker 6: a kid. He just lost his parents. And he, like,
- 20:17Speaker 6: backhanded him because he was, like, burning his hand over
- 20:19Speaker 6: a candle. It's like, oh, my God.
- 20:21Speaker 8: I think they are purposely doing that, though. Because I
- 20:24Speaker 8: kind of, they're taking a weird, relatively dark turn with
- 20:27Speaker 8: this because I think they want, I've heard them now
- 20:29Speaker 8: describe it as, Alfred is an enabler. And even, I guess, really,
- 20:34Speaker 8: in all the versions. I mean, he is. He allows
- 20:36Speaker 8: him to grow up and go down this path and
- 20:39Speaker 8: become this self-destructive character that I'm like, really, if he
- 20:43Speaker 8: was a good butler friend to his parents, he would
- 20:47Speaker 8: have stopped.
- 20:47Speaker 6: Probably would have turned him in and be like, hey,
- 20:49Speaker 6: this is totally Batman right here.
- 20:50Speaker 8: I mean, if he really cared about it.
- 20:51Speaker 6: I'm doing this for you. I'm doing this for you, buddy.
- 20:53Speaker 5: But, yeah.
- 20:53Speaker 8: Yeah, he's kind of selling him down the river, being like, no, really,
- 20:56Speaker 8: go vigilante everybody in the damn city.
- 20:58Speaker 6: It's cool. I'll sweep up after you.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I'll help you build the shed.
- 21:01Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm like, it's kind of true.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Gaves need cleaning, too.
- 21:06Speaker 6: It's very different. Like, you know, Catwoman, Selina is, like,
- 21:10Speaker 6: present when his parents get killed. Like, she sees it
- 21:12Speaker 6: happen to the point where she takes his mom's necklace
- 21:15Speaker 6: and whatever's left of it. I don't forget there's two necklaces,
- 21:19Speaker 6: but she has Miss Wayne's necklace in hand and stuff.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Jack Nicholson knocked all the pearls off of it. How
- 21:26Speaker 1: did she get it?
- 21:27Speaker 8: It's so weird that they could afford to cast him
- 21:31Speaker 8: in this TV show.
- 21:32Speaker 6: Yeah, and the Riddler's the Joker for some reason? I
- 21:36Speaker 6: only watched about four episodes. I'm sorry, Penguin. The guy
- 21:42Speaker 6: that's being called Penguin... His nickname is Penguin.
- 21:45Speaker 8: He calls himself Penguin.
- 21:46Speaker 6: But he's acting like the Joker. He's sadistically killing people
- 21:50Speaker 6: and kind of laughing about it.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Is he laughing like....
- 21:55Speaker 6: Kind of. He has a weird laugh.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Danny DeVito will always be the Penguin.
- 21:59Speaker 6: Shut your mouth.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Just like Arnold Schwarzenegger will always be Victor Freeze.
- 22:02Speaker 6: Shut your mouth.
- 22:03Speaker 4: If you're Bobby Freeze.
- 22:04Speaker 8: I feel like Danny DeVito was decent casting. Schwarzenegger is horrible.
- 22:09Speaker 8: Diddy DeVito is kind of the penguin in real life, unfortunately.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Don't you want to see the third one that Tim
- 22:14Speaker 1: Burton wrote the story arc to, but never shot?
- 22:17Speaker 8: He's coming back now.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Is he really?
- 22:19Speaker 6: It'd be brilliant.
- 22:20Speaker 8: I posted it. I haven't gone off on this on
- 22:25Speaker 8: the show, but I've said my original theory many times,
- 22:28Speaker 8: so I can finish it up now.
- 22:30Speaker 6: Please go on.
- 22:30Speaker 8: I've said for years, Tim Burton was awesome when he started,
- 22:34Speaker 8: and then he took that hard turn, and everybody was like,
- 22:37Speaker 8: what the hell is going on with his career? And
- 22:39Speaker 8: I've always said Helena Bonham Carter. And now they're separated.
- 22:44Speaker 6: Right. I didn't just see that.
- 22:47Speaker 8: Well, I mean, the last movie was actually the best
- 22:49Speaker 8: thing he's done since he started. The Frankenweenie. I did
- 22:53Speaker 8: not expect to like that. Well, no, that was his
- 22:55Speaker 8: previous last movie. Now he's doing Big Eyes, which I
- 22:59Speaker 8: saw the trailer for and I went, that almost looks
- 23:01Speaker 8: like a real movie. Like, how is he pulling this off?
- 23:04Speaker 8: And then like a week later that hit the internet.
- 23:06Speaker 8: So I was just like, oh. That's what it was.
- 23:08Speaker 8: She was sucking the life out of him.
- 23:10Speaker 6: Well, you know what? And you're right.
- 23:11Speaker 1: She actually is not Helena Bonham Carter. She is Bellatrix Lestrange.
- 23:15Speaker 1: She's been doing this evil shit this whole time.
- 23:17Speaker 6: I feel pretty confident that that girl was probably just
- 23:21Speaker 6: being herself in Harry Potter movies. I think that girl,
- 23:24Speaker 6: I mean, well, even like figuring Fight Club, I felt
- 23:26Speaker 6: like she was, she looked pretty comfortable in Fight Club too.
- 23:28Speaker 6: I kind of feel like she's- I want to have
- 23:29Speaker 6: your abortion. She's a dirty, wasn't that the original script?
- 23:32Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Fuck me like I'm in grade school, I think, is
- 23:38Speaker 1: the other one.
- 23:39Speaker 6: Like, which one was in the movie and what was
- 23:40Speaker 6: the one that was the original? No, she says I
- 23:43Speaker 6: want to have your abortion. No, in the movie she
- 23:47Speaker 6: says I haven't been fucked like that since grade school. So,
- 23:50Speaker 6: originally in the script it was I want to have
- 23:52Speaker 6: your abortion. And they were like, no.
- 23:57Speaker 8: So, again, I'm not completely blaming her. He's equally as dysfunctional,
- 24:03Speaker 8: I'm sure, but I just thought it was interesting that
- 24:06Speaker 8: now that his career is starting to show promise again,
- 24:09Speaker 8: they get separated.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Is he going to do Beetlejuice?
- 24:12Speaker 8: From what I heard, I knew they were going to
- 24:14Speaker 8: do it, and last I heard, he and Keaton were
- 24:16Speaker 8: signed on.
- 24:17Speaker 6: Well, because the last thing I heard is Winona Ryder
- 24:19Speaker 6: is confirmed now, too. Even she is like, all right,
- 24:22Speaker 6: I'll be in there.
- 24:22Speaker 8: I'm fine if they do a good job.
- 24:24Speaker 6: It's going to take writing.
- 24:25Speaker 8: And now it's in. It's going to take writing.
- 24:28Speaker 6: I'm serious. Well, there's not enough emphasis on that. There's,
- 24:30Speaker 6: you know, that's my big gripe. I hate when, you know,
- 24:33Speaker 6: kind of like, you know, I was complaining about Transformers and,
- 24:36Speaker 6: you know, Hobbit and things like that. Whenever I complain
- 24:39Speaker 6: about these movies, I hate that there's a part of
- 24:42Speaker 6: me that always feels the need to go, it looks great.
- 24:46Speaker 6: It was well-made. Like, I always feel like I have
- 24:48Speaker 6: to say those things. But, For someone like me, that
- 24:53Speaker 6: doesn't matter if the core script and story isn't good.
- 24:56Speaker 6: And I always find myself going, it looks great.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Those aren't even in 480p. Those are just for your consideration.
- 25:03Speaker 8: So he obviously doesn't care about the visuals.
- 25:06Speaker 6: The book was totally in HD, buddy.
- 25:08Speaker 1: It's got two channel audio. What do you do with
- 25:11Speaker 1: two channels? Most flat panel TVs don't even only have
- 25:15Speaker 1: two speakers.
- 25:17Speaker 8: No, but it's, I mean, it's true. And that's what
- 25:19Speaker 8: we've seen just completely dying in the last, almost since
- 25:24Speaker 8: the 80s. Like, the 80s became the era of big, flashy, dumb,
- 25:28Speaker 8: who cares. And it spilled over to the 90s. Like,
- 25:31Speaker 8: they just got bigger and dumber as CG became more
- 25:35Speaker 8: available and cheaper.
- 25:36Speaker 5: And like.
- 25:37Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 25:38Speaker 8: We get so many stupid things now, and I think
- 25:40Speaker 8: that's the only difference is if they're well-written movies.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Well, they overwrote Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls, and then
- 25:47Speaker 1: you all bitched about that.
- 25:49Speaker 6: I don't know what to do with that i'm still
- 25:51Speaker 6: processing that one i still refuse i haven't seen it
- 25:53Speaker 6: oh i've seen it no no i heard enough from
- 25:56Speaker 6: everyone around me i'm like no i'm not doing it
- 25:58Speaker 6: it is good you just have to kind of see
- 26:00Speaker 6: in the south park episode solidified it like no i'm
- 26:02Speaker 6: not gonna let them rape my childhood ever if i
- 26:04Speaker 6: don't watch it it never happened.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Shia labeouf and you're fine you're good the rest of
- 26:08Speaker 1: the movie is golden there's moments.
- 26:11Speaker 8: It had promise i still feel like it If you
- 26:14Speaker 8: would have reworked it, there's a way to make some
- 26:16Speaker 8: of that stuff really work.
- 26:17Speaker 1: They need to make the fifth one and just do it.
- 26:19Speaker 8: He's like 90 now.
- 26:20Speaker 1: He's Han Solo.
- 26:22Speaker 8: I know.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Get off my Millennium Falcon.
- 26:25Speaker 6: But he has no passion about that anymore either.
- 26:28Speaker 8: Did you see him.
- 26:28Speaker 6: On Conan O'Brien?
- 26:29Speaker 1: He's like Tommy Lee Jones now.
- 26:32Speaker 6: When episode 789 was announced, shortly after that, he was
- 26:36Speaker 6: on Conan O'Brien. And I mean... Conan O'Brien mentions it
- 26:41Speaker 6: where he's kind of like, so, you know, and he's
- 26:43Speaker 6: kind of getting excited. He's like, so we got to
- 26:44Speaker 6: talk Star Wars. And Harrison Ford did this real dramatic
- 26:49Speaker 6: yawn like he was so bored and stretched. And he
- 26:52Speaker 6: just made it real obvious he doesn't care about Star Wars.
- 26:56Speaker 6: He is over it. At this point, wouldn't you be
- 26:58Speaker 6: sick of it?
- 26:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:00Speaker 8: But at that point, I'd say just don't work him
- 27:03Speaker 8: back in. Like, if it's going to be half-assed.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Well, yeah, you know what they should do? If he
- 27:06Speaker 1: doesn't give a fuck, then you have him be the, like,
- 27:09Speaker 1: savior at the last second.
- 27:10Speaker 8: The death of Sauron.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Yeah, right?
- 27:13Speaker 8: So he's for Andy Quaid in this story.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 27:17Speaker 8: Remember me?
- 27:20Speaker 9: Right?
- 27:21Speaker 1: I'm back. I can't wait for that new trilogy, man.
- 27:24Speaker 1: That is going to be sick.
- 27:26Speaker 6: That'll be great.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I hope Will Smith's in it. So about the raid.
- 27:32Speaker 8: Hello.
- 28:01Speaker 6: Before the next show starts, let's enjoy an intermission.
- 28:10Speaker 9: There have been superheroes, supervillains, and super movies, but there
- 28:15Speaker 9: has never been anything like karate and kung fu. And
- 28:29Speaker 9: Bruce Lee, he's the man with the fists of fury.
- 28:36Speaker 9: Karate and Kung Fu, the new screen excitement you've been

- 29:16Speaker 9: combination that gives you the biggest kick of your life.

- 30:08Speaker 6: Hello, this is Peter Mayhew, listening to Movie Mountain Down.
- 30:19Speaker 11: It's part of your problem, you know, you haven't seen
- 30:23Speaker 11: enough movies.
- 30:24Speaker 4: All of life's riddles are answered in the movies.
- 30:28Speaker 5: And now, on with the show.
- 30:51Speaker 6: Isn't there a Rosemary's Baby?
- 30:52Speaker 8: I mean, I don't know.
- 30:54Speaker 6: I could keep just showing how things are being made,
- 30:56Speaker 6: but I think there's a Rosemary's Baby.
- 30:57Speaker 8: Well, I mean, they already did the TV version. It
- 30:59Speaker 8: wasn't bad. Isn't Zoe Saldana?
- 31:04Speaker 6: Saldana.
- 31:05Speaker 8: That was last year.
- 31:07Speaker 6: She has a couple colors now.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Every color but black. We're fighting for you, Zoe. We're
- 31:12Speaker 1: fighting for you. Hashtag Zoe Black.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Zoe's awesome.
- 31:16Speaker 1: She's awesome. I like her a lot. Especially when she's green.
- 31:19Speaker 7: Let me tell you.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Whatever they should just let the people who did the
- 31:23Speaker 1: conjuring direct it and it'll be fine oh.
- 31:25Speaker 8: God i'm afraid they'll make it like found footage at
- 31:27Speaker 8: this point that new oh what the hell is that
- 31:30Speaker 8: new one no the time travel thing oh the kids
- 31:35Speaker 8: oh the kids that find the time travel machine and i'm.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Like okay not goonies.
- 31:40Speaker 8: This could be entertaining it's not gonna be good but
- 31:43Speaker 8: i'm like it looks like it's found footage and i'm
- 31:45Speaker 8: like would you please I don't know about this one.
- 31:48Speaker 1: It's kids that find their dead dad's time machine and
- 31:53Speaker 1: then they like go back a day to win the
- 31:56Speaker 1: lottery and then go back another day to make fun
- 31:58Speaker 1: of the bully at school and then... butterfly effect happens i.
- 32:01Speaker 8: Mean i'm all like messed up time travel stories.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Just make a movie about it.
- 32:06Speaker 8: Don't make it fucking uh found footage is so useless
- 32:11Speaker 8: at this point for me.
- 32:12Speaker 1: It is it's done unless there's like gonna be unless
- 32:14Speaker 1: they're using gopro specifically and it's a giant gopro advertisement.
- 32:17Speaker 8: Only if they sponsor the show gopros are sweet and
- 32:19Speaker 8: i'll talk all about how gopros are real sweet i.
- 32:22Speaker 6: Kind of have a weakness from documentaries though i kind
- 32:24Speaker 6: of dig those.
- 32:25Speaker 1: But it's like, why is the kid holding the camera
- 32:28Speaker 1: through the whole thing?
- 32:29Speaker 8: That's the thing. If it's a mockumentary, it makes sense
- 32:33Speaker 8: because they're shooting a real documentary about this dumb person
- 32:36Speaker 8: we're watching. But when they're holding the camera and somebody
- 32:39Speaker 8: dies and they're still holding the camera.
- 32:41Speaker 1: It's like, this is my friend Bob and he loves
- 32:44Speaker 1: to record stuff. Oh, we found a time machine. Keep recording.
- 32:47Speaker 8: Keep recording every scene so that it all makes sense
- 32:49Speaker 8: and there's no holes in the plot.
- 32:51Speaker 6: What was the... I'm going to forget the name of
- 32:52Speaker 6: this because I'm terrible at names. What was the... The
- 32:55Speaker 6: movie where the preacher goes to, like, exercise to farm girl.
- 33:00Speaker 6: And it was done at found footage kind of way. And, like,
- 33:03Speaker 6: at the very end, they're, like, summoning, like, a demon.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's bomb.
- 33:06Speaker 6: And he gets his fate. I was so. The interesting
- 33:09Speaker 6: thing is, like, that was one of those movies where,
- 33:11Speaker 6: for me, I knew the ending was going to decide
- 33:12Speaker 6: whether I liked it or not. Because I was into it.
- 33:14Speaker 1: And then decided you liked it.
- 33:15Speaker 6: But I was just like, okay, this ending is going
- 33:17Speaker 6: to make or break it, though.
- 33:18Speaker 1: You didn't see it coming, though.
- 33:19Speaker 9: But.
- 33:19Speaker 1: I didn't see it coming.
- 33:20Speaker 6: Well, no one saw it coming. That's my point. The
- 33:23Speaker 6: fact that that should have been that epic ending scene,
- 33:27Speaker 6: like that fire was so huge, like him walking up
- 33:30Speaker 6: on it, like, you know, being like a preacher and like,
- 33:33Speaker 6: you know, just doing this, that would have been so amazing.
- 33:36Speaker 6: But instead, the cameraman runs in the woods. I was like,
- 33:39Speaker 6: are you serious? The cameraman went that way?
- 33:41Speaker 1: That's realistic.
- 33:42Speaker 8: Like, it's over here.
- 33:42Speaker 1: It's over here.
- 33:43Speaker 6: This big demon.
- 33:44Speaker 8: It is realistic.
- 33:45Speaker 6: And I was like, oh my God, that should have been.
- 33:48Speaker 6: That's why you're not shooting the movie. I would have.
- 33:51Speaker 6: I would have praised that movie if they would have
- 33:54Speaker 6: just let him be in the bushes. Even if he died.
- 33:57Speaker 6: Even if the big fire thing just consumed him or something.
- 33:59Speaker 6: But give me that. The fact that that was about
- 34:02Speaker 6: to happen. The whole thing, he's kind of like snake
- 34:06Speaker 6: oil kind of guy. But that moment, he just kind
- 34:08Speaker 6: of stood up, went through the bushes like, I'm going
- 34:10Speaker 6: to do this. Like, oh my God, this is going
- 34:11Speaker 6: to be rad. He's going to go up there and
- 34:14Speaker 6: get all crazy on this dude. And the guy with
- 34:16Speaker 6: the camera runs through the woods. I'm like, but, but, but.
- 34:21Speaker 6: It's over there. Go back over there. You're the worst
- 34:23Speaker 6: cameraman ever.
- 34:24Speaker 1: They need to pause on exorcism films for at least
- 34:26Speaker 1: two or three years now. They need to go back
- 34:28Speaker 1: to zombie films.
- 34:31Speaker 8: We've had a lot of possessed children, a lot of exorcisms,
- 34:34Speaker 8: a lot of ghost kids.
- 34:35Speaker 1: But I really am excited that they're kind of getting
- 34:37Speaker 1: back to the 70s with it, like Conjuring, Annabelle.
- 34:40Speaker 8: Conjuring was good.
- 34:41Speaker 1: It's entertaining to me.
- 34:42Speaker 8: It's fun.
- 34:42Speaker 1: It looks like they're getting that whole feel.
- 34:45Speaker 6: What was the plot in Conjuring again?
- 34:46Speaker 1: Because I watched something else. And the last 10 minutes.
- 34:49Speaker 6: Was like Army of Darkness. Which one was the one
- 34:51Speaker 6: with the mirror?
- 34:51Speaker 8: No, that's the mirror. No, that's Occulence.
- 34:54Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 34:54Speaker 6: I thought that was pretty good.
- 34:56Speaker 8: I really liked that one.
- 34:56Speaker 6: The one with the girl from Doctor Who, right? Yeah,
- 34:58Speaker 6: I really liked that one. I really thought that was
- 35:00Speaker 6: really cool.
- 35:01Speaker 8: We saw that at the drive-in this year, and it
- 35:03Speaker 8: was awesome.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I dug it. Like, you know, it was recommended,
- 35:06Speaker 6: so I was kind of like, you know, and it
- 35:08Speaker 6: valued a person's opinion. So I was like, all right,
- 35:10Speaker 6: you know, this should be pretty good and stuff. But
- 35:12Speaker 6: as it went along, I was like, no, this was...
- 35:14Speaker 6: Wasn't it like a MTV or WWE movie? Like, didn't
- 35:17Speaker 6: someone weird, like, produce that thing?
- 35:20Speaker 8: Well, anything, that's the thing. If that logo comes up
- 35:23Speaker 8: at the beginning now, if anybody who has anything to
- 35:26Speaker 8: do with WWE is in your movie, it's in their
- 35:29Speaker 8: contract now. If you sign them to be in your movie,
- 35:32Speaker 8: WWE gets to be a producer on the movie. So
- 35:35Speaker 8: that will come up. It's in like the call.
- 35:39Speaker 6: Who was in?
- 35:39Speaker 1: I don't know. I didn't see it. But I'm going
- 35:41Speaker 1: to go down there now.
- 35:42Speaker 8: Isn't she a glow wrestler?
- 35:45Speaker 6: I'm making shit up now.
- 35:48Speaker 8: I would like to see her slam some other chick around.
- 35:52Speaker 6: I give her mad props for shaving her head. I
- 35:54Speaker 6: cannot believe that she went in like that. That was
- 35:57Speaker 6: a whole other level. Did you see that reveal at
- 36:00Speaker 6: Comic Con or whatever where she had a wig on
- 36:02Speaker 6: so no one knew and she took the wig off
- 36:04Speaker 6: and I was like, wow.
- 36:06Speaker 8: Just from that movie, I'm like, I want to see
- 36:08Speaker 8: her do more stuff now.
- 36:10Speaker 6: She lived. She's definitely going to be around some more.
- 36:12Speaker 1: We need to return to creepy asylum movies.
- 36:16Speaker 8: We'll see what we can do.
- 36:17Speaker 1: We can't do anything.
- 36:19Speaker 8: We have a lot of influence over the Hollywood system.
- 36:21Speaker 1: We just need more horror movies more often.
- 36:22Speaker 6: I was going to say, like, horror is kind of
- 36:24Speaker 6: on the down side because comic is doing so well.
- 36:27Speaker 8: But there's still tons of it that gets made. That's
- 36:29Speaker 8: why I was so thrilled with the Mirror movie is, like,
- 36:31Speaker 8: because it was actually really good. And, like, I'm so
- 36:34Speaker 8: used to being disappointed by horror now. I'm just kind
- 36:38Speaker 8: of like, or just mediocre. So when I see something
- 36:40Speaker 8: really good, then I'm like, oh, shit, what was that? Like,
- 36:43Speaker 8: you know, like, it really does make an impact because
- 36:45Speaker 8: there's so much horror, at least low-budget horror, that still
- 36:47Speaker 8: gets pushed out. But, like, Not all of it's good.
- 36:51Speaker 6: Most of it's not. I feel like the majority of
- 36:53Speaker 6: horror movies anymore are like, hey, that movie had a
- 36:56Speaker 6: really good idea, but I think it should have ended
- 36:57Speaker 6: like this. I feel like almost every horror movie you
- 37:00Speaker 6: see is like, well, even when I discarded people, it's like, oh,
- 37:03Speaker 6: I saw that new horror movie. Well, it was kind
- 37:05Speaker 6: of like Rosemary's Baby with this ending. I find myself saying, well,
- 37:09Speaker 6: it was kind of like this, but different at the end.
- 37:11Speaker 6: No one's writing anything original.
- 37:13Speaker 1: They're stuck on horror and not doing sci-fi horror.
- 37:18Speaker 6: So you want more like Event Horizon. I want more
- 37:20Speaker 6: Event Horizon. Event Horizon is really, really good.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Did you see Annabelle? Did you see Annabelle?
- 37:24Speaker 2: Annabelle.
- 37:24Speaker 8: It's a doll movie. I avoided it because it was
- 37:27Speaker 8: a doll movie.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Watch it.
- 37:28Speaker 6: Absolutely watch it. I've seen May. I love May.
- 37:31Speaker 8: May's awesome.
- 37:31Speaker 6: I think May's incredible.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Okay, May's a lot better than Annabelle because Annabelle's kind
- 37:35Speaker 1: of like big budget, blockbuster.
- 37:36Speaker 6: Kind of thing.
- 37:37Speaker 1: But what they do in that movie that really, really
- 37:40Speaker 1: excited me or made me love it was one, Bell
- 37:43Speaker 1: never moves. Two- the, it's like a demon demonically possessed
- 37:48Speaker 1: or whatever, the demons cameo or when you see it
- 37:52Speaker 1: or whatever, it's worth watching the movie. And it's like
- 37:56Speaker 1: the movie as a whole, it's okay. It's fine. Like
- 37:58Speaker 1: watch it once. You'll never want to watch it again,
- 38:00Speaker 1: but watch it for two scenes and two scenes only.
- 38:03Speaker 1: And it's like, you'll know which scenes they are.
- 38:05Speaker 6: You just watch it for that.
- 38:06Speaker 1: But yeah, we need like, we need to, no one
- 38:08Speaker 1: hears you scream in space again.
- 38:10Speaker 8: We almost had another alien. You saw that, didn't you?
- 38:12Speaker 6: When he posted those. That concept was fantastic. It was phenomenal.
- 38:16Speaker 1: But I want Prometheus 2 instead of that.
- 38:19Speaker 8: I guess I'm not doing it.
- 38:20Speaker 6: I'm like, why not?
- 38:21Speaker 5: Go do it.
- 38:22Speaker 9: Do it.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Everybody wants you to do it.
- 38:24Speaker 8: It can't be more weird than the last one. Just
- 38:26Speaker 8: keep doing them.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I want Prometheus 2. I want it.
- 38:30Speaker 8: I think you're the only one.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck.
- 38:32Speaker 5: I want it.
- 38:33Speaker 8: Do you want Ridley version or pass it off?
- 38:36Speaker 6: Are you telling me you're defending Prometheus, or you just
- 38:38Speaker 6: want another movie because you just want more Alien in general?
- 38:41Speaker 1: No, well, I want more Alien in general, but here's
- 38:44Speaker 1: the thing. I see that Prometheus is a part of
- 38:51Speaker 1: a bigger whole, and the bigger whole, if done correctly,
- 38:55Speaker 1: can redeem Prometheus.
- 38:57Speaker 6: Did you catch the underlying story of why the engineers
- 39:03Speaker 6: want us dead?
- 39:03Speaker 9: Why?
- 39:04Speaker 6: Because we killed Jesus and Jesus was an engineer?
- 39:07Speaker 7: No.
- 39:08Speaker 6: This is absolutely confirmed from Ridley Scott and from Lindelof,
- 39:11Speaker 6: whatever that... Dumbass. He's the one that jacked up Lost.
- 39:14Speaker 8: Okay.
- 39:16Speaker 6: This is confirmed. This isn't like fan fiction, fan myth.
- 39:19Speaker 6: It's confirmed. When you set up... I think it's when
- 39:22Speaker 6: they're in the Star Room or whatever. Something happens where
- 39:24Speaker 6: they talk about you know, something that happened 2,000 years
- 39:29Speaker 6: ago in like the missing engineered engineer that never reported back.
- 39:33Speaker 6: It's essentially Jesus was an engineer. We killed him. So
- 39:37Speaker 6: they're like, all right, you got to go. You're one
- 39:38Speaker 6: of those hostile planets. I mean, I already had problems
- 39:42Speaker 6: with the movie anyway, but then when I found out
- 39:44Speaker 6: it was, they were coming for us because we killed Jesus.
- 39:47Speaker 1: I just want more.
- 39:47Speaker 6: Are you serious?
- 39:49Speaker 5: It was.
- 39:49Speaker 8: It was directed by Ridley and not Mel Gibson?
- 39:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 39:53Speaker 1: All the women were in the kitchen.
- 39:55Speaker 6: I couldn't get over some... For me, it's usually the
- 39:58Speaker 6: little stuff. The Looney Tunes style runaway scene from the
- 40:03Speaker 6: ship at the end. Literally, this big thing is rolling
- 40:08Speaker 6: and we're going to outrun it. We're going to outrun
- 40:10Speaker 6: it by running in the direction it's rolling. And I mean,
- 40:12Speaker 6: doesn't old girl literally trip?
- 40:14Speaker 8: Yes.
- 40:14Speaker 6: I mean, she trips and stumbles like 10 feet to
- 40:16Speaker 6: the side and lives.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Where?
- 40:19Speaker 6: But Theron keeps trying to outrun it and gets crushed.
- 40:22Speaker 6: I'm like, it's a 3D world, people. It's a 3D world.
- 40:26Speaker 6: How did you get to another planet not understanding the
- 40:29Speaker 6: third dimension?
- 40:30Speaker 8: But it's a 3D world where really smart scientists continually
- 40:35Speaker 8: get lost, and walk up to creatures that they don't
- 40:38Speaker 8: know what the fuck they are and go, hey, little buddy,
- 40:40Speaker 8: what's up? And get attacked in their face.
- 40:43Speaker 6: Playing with the snake.
- 40:44Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm like, there's so many problems with that movie.
- 40:50Speaker 6: I still have the theory that I was, I don't
- 40:53Speaker 6: want to say I was stoked for that movie, but
- 40:54Speaker 6: I knew I was going to go see it. The
- 40:56Speaker 6: trailer looked good enough, and so I was like, all right,
- 40:57Speaker 6: I'm going to go see this. And sort of like
- 40:59Speaker 6: to get prepped for it, I watched the original Alien again.
- 41:03Speaker 6: If you watch the original Alien and then watch that,
- 41:07Speaker 6: you can say it all day long. That's a reboot.
- 41:10Speaker 6: That is a reboot. This is not a prequel. This
- 41:13Speaker 6: is not, you know, sort of more info for the story.
- 41:17Speaker 6: There are so many things that are absolutely identical in
- 41:23Speaker 6: both movies.
- 41:23Speaker 3: It's like.
- 41:25Speaker 6: You made a reboot, but you didn't want to say
- 41:27Speaker 6: the word reboot. Let's just be honest. You didn't want
- 41:29Speaker 6: to say the word reboot, but it's a reboot.
- 41:31Speaker 8: And it's bad to reboot your own movie.
- 41:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 41:34Speaker 1: That's tacky.
- 41:35Speaker 6: Or to change the ending on your own movie.
- 41:37Speaker 10: Oh, Lord.
- 41:41Speaker 6: No, I'm not optimistic about a part two at all.
- 41:43Speaker 6: I thought the alien.
- 41:47Speaker 5: Wow.
- 41:48Speaker 6: God.
- 41:48Speaker 8: He already said he's not doing it anymore with the alien. Seriously.
- 41:51Speaker 9: Well, no, girl.
- 41:52Speaker 6: Like had the alien removed from her stomach and got
- 41:54Speaker 6: it sewn up with what looked like a freaking crane machine.
- 41:57Speaker 6: Like something you'd go win like a stuffed teddy bear
- 42:00Speaker 6: out of. This is sci-fi futuristic surgery machine. And it
- 42:04Speaker 6: like had a crane claw and like just like staples
- 42:07Speaker 6: her stomach. And then she's off and running. She's all good.
- 42:10Speaker 6: She's totally healed. She was sprinting and climbing and pulling
- 42:14Speaker 6: people up. You just had a baby essentially dead. You
- 42:20Speaker 6: just gave birth and you are now sprinting, climbing, pulling, jumping, falling.
- 42:24Speaker 6: Are you serious?
- 42:27Speaker 1: First aid spray. Magical future first aid spray.
- 42:31Speaker 6: We need to hunt down Lindelof. I have a list.
- 42:36Speaker 6: Michael Bay, Lindelof. Lindelof really does have to go.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I love that he's genociding people.
- 42:41Speaker 6: What was the other thing that he recently... Not lost.
- 42:46Speaker 6: he did some other movie recently and it was like,
- 42:48Speaker 6: Oh no, it's the TV show. Isn't he writing, is
- 42:51Speaker 6: it like the substitutes or something like that? He has
- 42:53Speaker 6: some TV show he's writing now. The one where like
- 42:56Speaker 6: all the people just disappear. Like a bunch of people
- 42:58Speaker 6: disappear for no reason. And now everyone left on earth
- 43:01Speaker 6: is uber depressed. Like it, it felt weird. Cause I
- 43:05Speaker 6: was like, okay, this is kind of, you know, it's
- 43:08Speaker 6: kind of your cliche loss kind of thing. It's like
- 43:10Speaker 6: something weird, you know? So let's elaborate on this weird thing.
- 43:13Speaker 6: you know, it's like, all right, all these people just
- 43:15Speaker 6: disappeared out of nowhere. And it's like, you know, whatever, three,
- 43:17Speaker 6: five years later. And for some reason, everyone else on
- 43:19Speaker 6: the planet is super depressed. I get that the people,
- 43:23Speaker 6: you know, in essence died or whatever, but it wasn't
- 43:25Speaker 6: like that. It was almost like everyone felt like, like
- 43:29Speaker 6: they weren't special because they weren't taken. It's like, I
- 43:32Speaker 6: didn't get to disappear.
- 43:33Speaker 8: And these are the left behind losers.
- 43:36Speaker 6: Like I tried a couple episodes of it and I
- 43:38Speaker 6: was like, you had a good idea, but It's that
- 43:41Speaker 6: same thing where I don't even think you know where
- 43:43Speaker 6: you're going. I think you just get some pen and
- 43:45Speaker 6: paper and go, well, it'd be really weird. And that's
- 43:49Speaker 6: just kind of what he does. Well, I even heard
- 43:50Speaker 6: that the Jesus part was added on in Prometheus that apparently,
- 43:53Speaker 6: you know, Ridley Scott had that core script and Lindelof
- 43:56Speaker 6: and him kind of worked together and do some tweaks.
- 43:58Speaker 6: And it was Lindelof's idea to have this kind of
- 44:00Speaker 6: hidden motive for what's going on. I was like, why?
- 44:05Speaker 6: We don't need it. You know, they're just aliens. They're
- 44:07Speaker 6: just vicious. Like we don't need like, You know, they
- 44:09Speaker 6: were the lap dogs for some people that were pissed
- 44:11Speaker 6: that we killed Jesus.
- 44:13Speaker 1: I just think it'd be really cool if, like, there
- 44:15Speaker 1: was a Prometheus 2 interstellar tie-in. That way we could
- 44:20Speaker 1: have him driving a Cadillac into an engineer. And then
- 44:31Speaker 1: they can all go down to Texas and have some barbecue.
- 44:35Speaker 4: All right, all right, all right.
- 44:38Speaker 1: You know what I love about Engineer? I get older
- 44:41Speaker 1: and they stay the same age.
- 44:44Speaker 6: How good was Crime Story? Or was it True Crime?
- 44:46Speaker 4: True Detective?
- 44:47Speaker 6: True Detective.
- 44:48Speaker 1: I only watched the first episode.
- 44:49Speaker 6: Oh, it's so good. I need to watch it.
- 44:51Speaker 1: And I need to watch American Horror Season 2 or whatever.
- 44:54Speaker 6: I don't have time for TV series.
- 44:55Speaker 8: There's too freaking many of them.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Marco Polo is where it's at.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Cha-ching!
- 45:00Speaker 8: Your check's coming.
- 45:01Speaker 6: I know, right? True Detective is really, really well-written. Like,
- 45:06Speaker 6: super well-written. It's, man, I have high praise for that thing.
- 45:11Speaker 6: And going into it, like I, you know, you know,
- 45:14Speaker 6: like sometimes when you don't know anything about something you're
- 45:17Speaker 6: about to watch, it tends to be really profound because
- 45:20Speaker 6: you know nothing about it.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Not with me in the show called Marco Bolo.
- 45:25Speaker 6: Like that happened to me with Heavenly Creatures. I sat down. Well,
- 45:27Speaker 6: here's what's really, Heavenly Creatures kind of has this unique
- 45:32Speaker 6: place in my experience because I didn't, Going into it,
- 45:37Speaker 6: I missed the first ten minutes. Like, I showed up
- 45:39Speaker 6: someplace where it was already on.
- 45:40Speaker 8: So you missed the horrible order.
- 45:41Speaker 6: And so I didn't know how it ends, right? And
- 45:44Speaker 6: you have to imagine how lighthearted, like, the first three
- 45:47Speaker 6: quarters of that movie is.
- 45:48Speaker 8: Yeah, it's pretty fun.
- 45:48Speaker 6: So I'm like, this is really great. These girls are
- 45:51Speaker 6: really fun. This is so cool. Oh, my God, what
- 45:53Speaker 6: are they doing? Like, it gets to the end, and
- 45:56Speaker 6: I'm like, what just happened? What just happened to this movie?
- 46:00Speaker 6: I was so blown away. Rose, how could you do this?
- 46:02Speaker 6: I missed that first ten minutes.
- 46:03Speaker 8: He's never going to draw your picture now.
- 46:06Speaker 6: But that's... I can't tell your picture when you're in prison.
- 46:15Speaker 6: It's happened to me with True Detective. Actually, I kind
- 46:19Speaker 6: of knew about that. I had a high expectation. I
- 46:20Speaker 6: went to it. I was like, oh, there's going to
- 46:21Speaker 6: be the new Heathers, which honestly does not hold up
- 46:24Speaker 6: well at all. Jawbreaker. I went back and watched Heathers, though.
- 46:29Speaker 8: To me, Heathers is still pretty sad.
- 46:31Speaker 6: Oh, man. Right off the bat with the sweaters and
- 46:33Speaker 6: the carnigans and the huge hair and just.
- 46:35Speaker 8: Well, but Heathers is fucking vicious. Like, Heathers isn't, like,
- 46:39Speaker 8: I feel like Jawbreaker was dialed back a little bit.
- 46:42Speaker 6: And Mean Girls was even.
- 46:43Speaker 8: Because it was studio, but, like, yeah, and it wanted
- 46:45Speaker 8: to be, yeah. So, like, to me, yeah, Heathers is
- 46:48Speaker 8: just fucking mean. Like, almost in its weird commentary.
- 46:50Speaker 6: He wants to blow up that school.
- 46:52Speaker 8: Not, like, the murders, you know?
- 46:53Speaker 4: Like.
- 46:54Speaker 8: And the way it addresses everyone is just fucking mean.
- 46:59Speaker 8: And I'm like, that's kind of what holds up for me.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Let me just sum all that up with Jennifer's body.
- 47:05Speaker 6: On that note.
- 47:07Speaker 1: You know what my favorite game to play is in
- 47:08Speaker 1: a pool?
- 47:09Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Marco.
- 47:12Speaker 6: If this show is not great, I'm going to spam
- 47:17Speaker 6: your Facebook, spam your Twitter.
- 47:19Speaker 1: I'm just going to blow you up. You'll enjoy pieces
- 47:22Speaker 1: of it.
- 47:22Speaker 6: You'll enjoy pieces of it. I don't want to enjoy
- 47:25Speaker 6: pieces of a, I assume, hour-long episodic show. Man, I
- 47:29Speaker 6: watched an hour of Marco Polo and ten minutes were
- 47:32Speaker 6: so good. Ten minutes were so good.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Oh, but watch it with subtitles because I can't understand anybody.
- 47:41Speaker 6: Are they speaking English? Really thick accents?
- 47:45Speaker 1: They take some liberties. Is this like.
- 47:46Speaker 6: A BBC joint? Is it really thick Cockney stuff?
- 47:50Speaker 1: Kublai Khan is a Chinese actor playing a Mongolian who
- 47:57Speaker 1: talks like he's from New York.
- 47:59Speaker 6: What?
- 48:00Speaker 1: And I can't understand him.
- 48:01Speaker 8: You are selling me on it.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Marco Polo is like maybe an Italian actor or a
- 48:06Speaker 1: British actor acting Italian. So I can't understand what he says.
- 48:11Speaker 8: Hey, it's a me, Marco Polo.
- 48:13Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 48:14Speaker 1: But no, watch it. It's good.
- 48:18Speaker 6: Watch one. We'll see how that goes.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Here's the other show. And this show. Hannibal.
- 48:24Speaker 6: I've heard really good stuff about Hannibal.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Have you read the books?
- 48:29Speaker 6: No, my mom did. My mom was really upset with
- 48:31Speaker 6: the movies, which I thought was kind of profound. I
- 48:33Speaker 6: was like, wow, you don't like the movies because the
- 48:35Speaker 6: books are that good? I can't explain.
- 48:36Speaker 1: How good the show is and how much it just
- 48:40Speaker 1: puts the movies to shame. Because it's like, obviously the
- 48:43Speaker 1: books are written like in the 80s or the early
- 48:45Speaker 1: 90s or whatever, most of them. And so it updates them.
- 48:48Speaker 1: but keeps the core story the same, like the story
- 48:51Speaker 1: and all the characters and their interactions completely the same
- 48:53Speaker 1: for the most part.
- 48:54Speaker 6: Liberties, um, just updated some fashion, some music, some car models,
- 48:59Speaker 6: some hyper updated, you know, fashion decor, but then like.
- 49:04Speaker 1: So epically like suicide squad from the perspective of the
- 49:07Speaker 1: bad guy. Brilliant. And they do the best job of balancing.
- 49:11Speaker 1: It's not like, Oh, it's a movie about a hero
- 49:13Speaker 1: and I want the hero to win. Oh, it's a
- 49:15Speaker 1: movie about the villain and I kind of want the
- 49:16Speaker 1: villain to win. you teeter because you are like, you
- 49:19Speaker 1: get it from both the perspective of the villain and
- 49:22Speaker 1: the hero and you're like well i don't want the
- 49:24Speaker 1: villain to lose but i don't want the hero to
- 49:26Speaker 1: win right and then and then they do the whole
- 49:28Speaker 1: like we're just gonna break your heart and take everything
- 49:31Speaker 1: away from you including the mother of dragons is this
- 49:35Speaker 1: when's this gonna be on the internet Never. A song
- 49:40Speaker 1: of fire and ice.
- 49:42Speaker 6: No, here's the thing.
- 49:43Speaker 9: Ready? No.
- 49:45Speaker 6: Are we going to get into spoilers now?
- 49:46Speaker 1: We're going to ruin it.
- 49:47Speaker 6: No, I expect it. If you're going to say that,
- 49:49Speaker 6: I expect it. Because my thing is, he made it
- 49:54Speaker 6: very clear. Just reading him talking about how he believes
- 49:59Speaker 6: good storytelling and stuff goes, he was very, very clear
- 50:03Speaker 6: that he does not believe in all good people and
- 50:06Speaker 6: all bad people. You know, he believes that, like, period,
- 50:09Speaker 6: across the board. Like, no one is all good and
- 50:11Speaker 6: no one is all bad, and everyone should almost feel
- 50:13Speaker 6: like a good guy and a bad guy, period. Like,
- 50:15Speaker 6: there should be moments where you are for someone, and
- 50:18Speaker 6: there should always be moments when you're not.
- 50:19Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 50:20Speaker 6: Like, at first, Jamie Lannister, you're like, what a douchebag,
- 50:22Speaker 6: and then, you know, it spins. But even more so, like,
- 50:28Speaker 6: you know, can I be honest? Because, you know, Daenerys
- 50:29Speaker 6: feels like she's all good, but I think it's going
- 50:31Speaker 6: to get a little twisted. But he made some real
- 50:34Speaker 6: cryptic comic recently where– He was talking about how because
- 50:40Speaker 6: she's out there on her own, he didn't have a
- 50:43Speaker 6: choice for her to even die because the narrative comes
- 50:46Speaker 6: from her. And in the books, some other people are
- 50:49Speaker 6: over there now with her. So now apparently he said
- 50:53Speaker 6: something like, well, now that other people are around her,
- 50:57Speaker 6: I don't have to keep her around. He said something
- 51:00Speaker 6: that sounded pretty much like, it's your time to go.
- 51:02Speaker 6: And I was like, do you... Not that this should
- 51:06Speaker 6: matter at all as an artist. This should not matter
- 51:09Speaker 6: at all. But do you know the amount of people
- 51:11Speaker 6: that will quit watching if Daenerys goes? Especially Jon Snow.
- 51:15Speaker 6: You might as well bury your books, your TV show, anything, anything.
- 51:20Speaker 6: If you kill Jon Snow, it's over.
- 51:22Speaker 4: If Daryl dies, we ride.
- 51:24Speaker 6: That's the thing.
- 51:25Speaker 9: It's Daryl.
- 51:25Speaker 4: It's the thing.
- 51:26Speaker 6: It's the Daryl.
- 51:26Speaker 1: And obviously they will sign a petition to bring him
- 51:29Speaker 1: back to life.
- 51:29Speaker 6: Dude, someone's going to do, like, Misery. On R.R.
- 51:32Speaker 9: Martin.
- 51:32Speaker 6: Someone's going to kidnap him and, you know, chop his
- 51:35Speaker 6: feet off and make him write her back to life.
- 51:38Speaker 6: She's going to become reincarnated as a rainbow dragon or something. Yeah, no, I'm,
- 51:45Speaker 6: I mean, when it comes to those books, I'm ready
- 51:46Speaker 6: to be disappointed in a way.
- 51:49Speaker 1: You won't be from what I hear.
- 51:50Speaker 6: Because it's just. You won't be. they're already so brutal.
- 51:54Speaker 6: Like there are, there's so many great people, great, great
- 51:57Speaker 6: people that have died, like really great characters that are dead.
- 52:00Speaker 6: And it's like, as a story writer, why didn't you
- 52:03Speaker 6: want those people? And it seems like you would, these
- 52:04Speaker 6: are great personalities. Like, I feel like you're shooting yourself
- 52:07Speaker 6: in the foot, but again, you know, like with his
- 52:11Speaker 6: whole philosophy, like I heard him say, um, he made
- 52:13Speaker 6: some analogy about, you know, well, the reason that you're
- 52:18Speaker 6: not tense when you watch diehard is because you know,
- 52:20Speaker 6: Bruce Willis isn't going to die. you know Bruce Willis
- 52:23Speaker 6: isn't going to die. And he's like, so I kill
- 52:26Speaker 6: Bruce Willis right away so that you know that anyone
- 52:29Speaker 6: can die. That's what Ned Stark was. It was like,
- 52:32Speaker 6: anyone can die in this. The Joss rules.
- 52:35Speaker 8: Yeah. I might take out any cast member I want.
- 52:39Speaker 6: Just saying. So I was like, I get that, but man,
- 52:42Speaker 6: there were some really great characters that I can never
- 52:46Speaker 6: write about again now.
- 52:48Speaker 8: Everyone.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Watch it in 10 years, there'll be like the prequels.
- 52:51Speaker 1: i don't start you'll get the whole war the crazy
- 52:54Speaker 1: king the mad king.
- 52:56Speaker 6: Oh well he's already wrote those that's what's crazy everyone's
- 52:58Speaker 6: waiting for this whatever sixth book or whatever it is
- 53:01Speaker 6: but like he wrote um he wrote a book about
- 53:04Speaker 6: he wrote two books technically about the targaryens where it's
- 53:07Speaker 6: like and i like i said i do audiobooks i
- 53:09Speaker 6: didn't read them but i've listened to both of those
- 53:12Speaker 6: he did one that was just this real general history
- 53:15Speaker 6: of the entire world You know, it was just, like,
- 53:18Speaker 6: going way back. I mean, like, stuff that literally doesn't
- 53:22Speaker 6: even matter now. Like, you know, there's buildings and structures
- 53:25Speaker 6: in Westeros that, like, no one even knows who they built.
- 53:28Speaker 6: It's like the pyramids for us. It's like these buildings, like,
- 53:30Speaker 6: we don't know who built these things. You know, and
- 53:32Speaker 6: he just went into this huge back history. I'm like, dude,
- 53:35Speaker 6: you're writing the Cimmerillion before you wrote the trilogy.
- 53:38Speaker 8: Focus.
- 53:39Speaker 6: Finish the trilogy and then do all the backstory.
- 53:41Speaker 8: Like, Or don't waste your time with backstory.
- 53:45Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, no doubt. He wrote recipe books like
- 53:50Speaker 6: The Food of Westeros. He's got all these other books out.
- 53:54Speaker 1: He's just fucking with the days.
- 53:56Speaker 6: I think he's the biggest troll on the planet. I
- 53:58Speaker 6: might have made this opinion before where I think he's
- 54:03Speaker 6: the biggest troll on the planet. Imagine if you were
- 54:08Speaker 6: the only person that knew what the next three Star
- 54:11Speaker 6: Wars movies are going to be. You know everything. You
- 54:13Speaker 6: know absolutely everything's going to happen. You would feel a
- 54:16Speaker 6: little bit like a geek god. You'd be like, I know,
- 54:18Speaker 6: especially if the world knew that. The world knew that
- 54:22Speaker 6: you knew everything. Imagine the attention you would get. He's
- 54:25Speaker 6: the only one that knows how this thing is going
- 54:28Speaker 6: to end. And I think he likes it too much.
- 54:31Speaker 6: He's like, I don't want to tell you. I don't
- 54:34Speaker 6: want to tell you. I'll get around to it when
- 54:37Speaker 6: I'm dead. I think they're written in a safe. I
- 54:40Speaker 6: think they're written in a safe and it's like in
- 54:42Speaker 6: his will or something that when he dies, he'll get released.
- 54:45Speaker 6: I'm being a little bit serious. I think he has
- 54:46Speaker 6: already wrote them. He's just going to sit on it
- 54:49Speaker 6: for his life and be one of the most famous
- 54:51Speaker 6: writers while he's alive. And then when he dies, there'll
- 54:54Speaker 6: be something about releasing them after his death. I really
- 54:58Speaker 6: think it's completely possible that something like that will happen.
- 55:02Speaker 6: He seems very happy to be the only one who knows.
- 55:05Speaker 8: That'd be awesome.
- 55:08Speaker 6: You have to bury him like giving a middle finger
- 55:10Speaker 6: or something.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Next time on the Tangent Show.
- 55:16Speaker 8: All right. I think that's what we do. Wrap it
- 55:19Speaker 8: up with another tangent of many. Do you have a
- 55:23Speaker 8: special send-off for us, Ben?
- 55:24Speaker 2: Nope.
- 55:25Speaker 6: Got all excited. Got the feet up in the air.
- 55:27Speaker 6: Getting geared up. All right, fine.
- 55:32Speaker 4: Oh, there are.
- 55:33Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 55:35Speaker 8: We've spiraled off so many times.
- 55:38Speaker 6: Think we just need kind of made sense i don't
- 55:40Speaker 6: know if we said it on here but you know
- 55:41Speaker 6: there's a couple people from the raid they're gonna be
- 55:44Speaker 6: in a star wars movie so you know the tangent
- 55:46Speaker 6: going to star wars and then spiraling out of control
- 55:49Speaker 6: at least it kind of made sense at first.
- 55:51Speaker 1: It spiraled out of control like mark hamill's car right
- 55:54Speaker 1: before they made.
- 55:54Speaker 4: The second one wow.
- 55:57Speaker 8: Fx7 i'm telling you anyway.
- 56:01Speaker 1: We really need to script this show.
- 56:03Speaker 6: No, no. That's the beauty of it.
- 56:05Speaker 8: It spirals off in the weirdest direction. So is there
- 56:08Speaker 8: anything else on The Raid Redemption that we barely scratched
- 56:12Speaker 8: the surface of?
- 56:12Speaker 6: Good action movie.
- 56:14Speaker 1: I give it a solid four out of five.
- 56:16Speaker 6: I dug it. I can definitely see watching that one
- 56:18Speaker 6: with the guys.
- 56:20Speaker 1: I want to watch the second one and the third
- 56:22Speaker 1: one and then the American remake with Leonardo DiCaprio. And
- 56:25Speaker 1: Matt Damon.
- 56:27Speaker 8: Because he's thoroughly convinced that's who it's.
- 56:29Speaker 9: Going to be.
- 56:29Speaker 6: It will be him. It really did feel like a
- 56:31Speaker 6: video game to me, though. Like a video game script.
- 56:34Speaker 6: Because it's just so... At least in Dread, it's like.
- 56:39Speaker 6: It was based on a comic and stuff, so I'm like, alright, yeah.
- 56:42Speaker 6: That's something Dread would do. This one felt forced. It
- 56:44Speaker 6: was like, please go in to do what?
- 56:46Speaker 1: Turn down for what?
- 56:48Speaker 6: Just a little squad is going to go in to
- 56:50Speaker 6: take down a whole building full of mobsters? Why wouldn't
- 56:53Speaker 6: you just Like, surround a block. Like, I mean, for real,
- 56:58Speaker 6: bring it down. They had to keep that shit undercover, man.
- 57:02Speaker 6: But it just, I don't know.
- 57:03Speaker 8: It was all not legal and whatnot.
- 57:06Speaker 1: Did you not listen to the story whatsoever? Danny Glover
- 57:10Speaker 1: was a bad guy.
- 57:11Speaker 8: I'm getting too old for this shit. Which I really
- 57:15Speaker 8: hope Han Solo also works into this episode.
- 57:17Speaker 7: I would die.
- 57:18Speaker 6: I would die.
- 57:23Speaker 1: Oh, but C-3PO did say it was better than Empire
- 57:25Speaker 1: Strikes Back, so I'm pumped.
- 57:27Speaker 6: Did he say that?
- 57:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:29Speaker 7: That guy?
- 57:30Speaker 8: Well, I'm amazed. I just went to check that, because
- 57:32Speaker 8: everybody's been talking about the three main actors going back,
- 57:35Speaker 8: but I kept going, what about Peter Mayhew?
- 57:37Speaker 1: Yeah, he's in it.
- 57:39Speaker 8: But I saw him years ago, and he was in
- 57:42Speaker 8: bad shape. He was having trouble walking. Like, he always has.
- 57:45Speaker 6: He's got a messed up... Like, his body's probably not
- 57:48Speaker 6: supposed to be like that, but it is.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I mean, isn't he just voice acting? Like, I don't
- 57:52Speaker 1: think he's... I don't know.
- 57:52Speaker 8: That's what I'm asking, because he used to be in
- 57:54Speaker 8: the suit every time. So now I'm like... But not one, two,
- 57:57Speaker 8: and three, right? But to me, his face is... You know, like,
- 58:02Speaker 8: you could get somebody else in the outfit, but, like, close-up-wise,
- 58:05Speaker 8: his face looks like that because it's his face.
- 58:07Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 58:08Speaker 8: So I'm like, if you throw somebody else in the
- 58:10Speaker 8: makeup and put the face on, it's gonna look different. Like,
- 58:12Speaker 8: it's not gonna be chewy. So then I'm afraid it's
- 58:15Speaker 8: going to be CG something. I don't know. I'm worried
- 58:17Speaker 8: about the chewy aspect of this. Because, yeah, he's not.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Tall people just don't move along.
- 58:22Speaker 6: Well, that's the thing.
- 58:24Speaker 8: It's pretty amazing that he's made it this long for
- 58:26Speaker 8: as huge a guy as he is. Because usually, yeah,
- 58:30Speaker 8: there's plenty of them out there that die at 19.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Well, you know what he's going to do. They're going
- 58:34Speaker 1: to give him white, chewy hair.
- 58:35Speaker 6: They're going to make him go in gray.
- 58:37Speaker 1: And then it's a different actor.
- 58:38Speaker 8: He's going to have a cool stripe.
- 58:39Speaker 1: It's like a black actor.
- 58:41Speaker 6: That's when we get the Gremlins crossover.
- 58:44Speaker 2: Nice.
- 58:45Speaker 6: Chewbacca's child is stripe. Actually, it's... lumpy are you serious
- 58:52Speaker 6: or no does he have children yeah he has children
- 58:57Speaker 6: who's a jedi were they in the star wars but
- 58:58Speaker 6: the christmas special oh not.
- 59:00Speaker 8: A jedi yeah yeah the lump lumpy's the grandpa.
- 59:03Speaker 1: Oh i don't know any of these names jesus do
- 59:05Speaker 1: we have to do you remember.
- 59:06Speaker 6: Into timothy's own books?
- 59:07Speaker 1: You gotta get on Wikipedia now.
- 59:09Speaker 8: Oh, God, I do.
- 59:10Speaker 6: When Leia shows up, you know, at the planet and
- 59:12Speaker 6: all the other Wookiees are, like, talking English. Like, they
- 59:16Speaker 6: have that slurred cat S, but they're all talking English.
- 59:18Speaker 6: And you're just like, what the hell's going on? Like,
- 59:19Speaker 6: I can totally understand them. You know, I can't understand
- 59:22Speaker 6: a thing Chewie says. And one of them's like, well,
- 59:26Speaker 6: you might say Chewie has a speech impediment. Like, are
- 59:30Speaker 6: you serious? Chewie, what, has, like, Down syndrome or something?
- 59:33Speaker 6: That's her favorite guy.
- 59:34Speaker 8: Are you kidding me?
- 59:35Speaker 6: Like, that's your excuse for why you can't understand Chewie?
- 59:38Speaker 6: He's got problems?
- 59:40Speaker 1: Lord.
- 59:41Speaker 6: Like, doesn't it make that kind of extra dark that
- 59:42Speaker 6: Han's using him for all these, like, smuggling missions? He kidnapped, like,
- 59:46Speaker 6: a Down syndrome Wookiee from Kashyyyk and just, like, trained
- 59:51Speaker 6: him to shoot, like, this laser bow. It's horrible. I
- 59:57Speaker 6: thought I saw someone post something about The guy that
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: does the voice of Yoda is going to be back.
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: Does he voice anyone other than Yoda? Because why would
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: Yoda be in this?
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Because he's a spirit Yoda.
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: Oh, okay. Yeah, I guess they could do that. Looks like,
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: leave me alone. So does that mean that Haydenson is
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: going to be in as Ghost Anakin?
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: Because he looped him back around in the last version
- 1:00:21Speaker 8: of it.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Oh, no, man.
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: Oh, that hurts.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: That's kind of rough.
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: Give us Mr.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Potato Head. I'd rather have him. Even Yoda is like, fuck.
- 1:00:35Speaker 8: We've had him on the show.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: The afterlife, I must spin with this dick.
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: Your mother, you must fuck. No, I was right.
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: His son is lumpy. Grandpa is itchy. These are canon.
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: These are original. From George Lucas. Mala is his wife.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: I like Mala.
- 1:00:52Speaker 8: The problem I had with it is if once we
- 1:00:55Speaker 8: find out all that stuff, I'm like, well, Chewie's just
- 1:00:58Speaker 8: a terrible father. He's never around. He's always off on
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: these damn smuggling missions.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: He's always on the spice mines of Kendor.
- 1:01:04Speaker 6: What the hell's that about? They're garnishing his wages. That's
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: why he's gotta go smuggle so much. He owes so
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: much to his children and Kashyyyk. He's got like three
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: women he's paying alimony to.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Motherfucker, you better get back off that motherfucking Millennium Falcon, motherfucker.
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: It's gonna be like ODB going to get his welfare check.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Cashed on Kashyyyk MTV.
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: Show up in the Falcon, go up.
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: To the Republic to get his But, yeah, looking on there,
- 1:01:29Speaker 8: on the little IMDb thing for seven, he's back in
- 1:01:32Speaker 8: Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker, which, again, really little people
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: sometimes have health issues. Right? It's awesome that Kenny's still
- 1:01:39Speaker 8: hanging in there, too. But, yeah, all three of our
- 1:01:42Speaker 8: other main actors.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Kenny, this one's for you. Loved you in Harry Potter.
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: Loved you in Time Bandits.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: God, Time Bandits. That's one I would say. deserves a remake,
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: but I don't know if you could find seven, eight
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: little guys to do that again.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: It's like making Labyrinth 2 or something.
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: Which they're supposedly doing. I know, it was a joke.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: They shouldn't do it.
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: Jennifer Connelly supposedly already signed on.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: She's so hot.
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: She was.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: She was so hot.
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: She's a cute girl. She's a pretty girl. Don't get
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: me wrong. I still, I don't think I ever really
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: looked for that scene. You don't have to look for it.
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: I've only seen that movie twice. It's so visually amazing.
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: It's so well filmed. It's so incredible, but it's so depressing.
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: It's so depressing. I can't watch it again.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Every time I go to watch it, I just put
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: in the fountain instead.
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: That's how I feel about bands like Radiohead and Nick Cave.
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: I feel like they're great musicians, but you're so depressing.
- 1:02:47Speaker 6: I can't listen to you.
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: They're a good song to song, but if you're in
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: a whole album, halfway into the track, you're like, oh
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: my God.
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: It will affect your mood.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: You need to take Zol off while listening to this.
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: The CD should come with a one-month prescription or something
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: just to kind of help get you over the lump.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: Green plastic watering can and a fake Chinese rubber plant.
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: Shut your mouth. It's a great song.
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: Zoloft.
- 1:03:22Speaker 8: Sponsored by Zoloft.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Sponsored by Zoloft.
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: It'd be like Radiohead's next big tour sponsor.
- 1:03:29Speaker 9: I know.
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: That'd be awesome. Zoloft and chocolate.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: Lord.
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: It's the Haagen-Dazs tour.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: It's like if you want to get into the mood
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: where you will like episodes one, two, and three.
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: Any final words for people?
- 1:03:46Speaker 8: See you next time on Trailer Talk.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Can't wait for Trailer Trash.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: Definitely.
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: That sounds like good stuff. I think so. Just get
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: on YouTube, keep pulling them up, and just keep hating.
- 1:03:55Speaker 8: We'll just maybe pick five, and then we'll spiral for
- 1:03:58Speaker 8: God knows how long.
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: And then people can send.
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: Us ones they want and meet up next time.
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: Maybe we could even do like, I mean, it's kind
- 1:04:06Speaker 6: of been done before, but we can do the movies
- 1:04:09Speaker 6: where the trailer looked great, but then the movie sucked.
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: So we can kind of watch those trailers and be like, man,
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: this trailer looks like Sucker Punch. We can watch the
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: Sucker Punch trailer and talk about how great this movie
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: looked in the trailer and then how completely terrible it
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: kind of was.
- 1:04:26Speaker 9: All right.
- 1:04:27Speaker 8: Sounds like a plan. But this one, we need to
- 1:04:29Speaker 8: get the hell out of here.
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: Otherwise, that about does it.
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: We will return next time. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:04:41Speaker 10: For a fake Chinese rubber plant And a fake plastic
- 1:04:51Speaker 10: gun That.
- 1:05:01Speaker 11: She bought from a rubber man And it's time for
- 1:05:10Speaker 11: the rubber bands To get rid of themselves The world's around.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: The world's around Where's her out? Where's her out?
- 1:05:53Speaker 11: She lives with a broken heart A cracked part of
- 1:06:01Speaker 11: styling her mouth.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: Just crumbles and burns Used to do surgery For girls
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: in the 80s The words amount.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: The words amount.
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: The words amount.
- 1:07:11Speaker 9: She keeps sliding.
- 1:07:59Speaker 5: And it wears me out It wears me out It
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: wears me out It wears me out.
- 1:08:25Speaker 12: If I could be who you wanted. If I could
- 1:08:33Speaker 12: be who you wanted.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: All the time. All the time.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I just want to hear Ben Affleck do the Batman voice.
- 1:09:19Speaker 8: But is he going to? I mean, the old ones
- 1:09:22Speaker 8: didn't really.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: I need a Batsuit.
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: I need a robot suit.
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: I mean, how do we survive through all the other
- 1:09:28Speaker 8: Batman and they just kind of.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Do I make the suit out of just metal or
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: do I put that green rock in it?
- 1:09:35Speaker 8: See, at least on the Flash TV show, he has
- 1:09:37Speaker 8: a good way to do it. Because he can vibrate
- 1:09:40Speaker 8: his vocal cords and it makes him sound different. So
- 1:09:43Speaker 8: when he talks.
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: To that chick who knows who he is in the
- 1:09:45Speaker 6: real world.
- 1:09:45Speaker 8: He does this weird echo-y thing because he can vibrate
- 1:09:48Speaker 8: his vocal cords. I was like, that's clever.
- 1:09:49Speaker 6: So he sounds like Perry Farrell when he talks.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: So he must give an amazing blowjob.
- 1:09:52Speaker 8: I think that's what that is.
- 1:09:56Speaker 6: He's got a life on the streets. If being the
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: flesh for justice doesn't work out, I'm going to have
- 1:10:04Speaker 6: so many chicks.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Think of how many people he could serve us in
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: just a minute.
- 1:10:09Speaker 8: He's the Flash.
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: You know, I mean, that would work in the ladies too, right?
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: I mean, vibration wouldn't be a bad thing.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: One day you'll be hard up enough for it. You
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: won't care if it's a boy or a girl. It's 2015.
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: Is that a basketball diary?
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: It's like 2015.
