- 0:20Speaker 1: Jackson Smith in Jiggbait won one hundred and sixty eight
- 0:22Speaker 1: million dollars this offseason, the richest extension in NFL history
- 0:27Speaker 1: for a wide receiver. That's what the Seahawks gave him
- 0:30Speaker 1: for his seventeen hundred and ninety three yard one hundred
- 0:32Speaker 1: and sixty plus catch season last year was the eighth
- 0:35Speaker 1: most receiving yards in a season in NFL history. I
- 0:39Speaker 1: asked him yesterday after practice about how life has changed
- 0:42Speaker 1: since that new contract, since that Super Bowl. We also
- 0:45Speaker 1: asked them about him getting a new trophy. He got
- 0:47Speaker 1: a replacement for the NFL Offensive Player the Year Award
- 0:51Speaker 1: hardware that he got super Bowl week because it had
- 0:54Speaker 1: typos on it, of all things. This is Jackson Smith
- 0:57Speaker 1: and JIGBA from Seahawks headquarters.
- 0:58Speaker 2: You get from the NFL for that I did.
- 1:02Speaker 3: They just sent it to me a couple of days ago.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Appreciate them. Yeah, we checked it. Everybody cleared it. I
- 1:12Speaker 3: had the whole team read it, make sure it was right,
- 1:15Speaker 3: and it's good solid.
- 1:18Speaker 2: You see the banner of the Lombardi trophies out of
- 1:20Speaker 2: the lobby. You get this attitude here. It's just about
- 1:23Speaker 2: you know, moving forward, talking about that.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It's an awesome mindset. Coach McDonald, you know, brought it
- 1:29Speaker 3: to the team and you know, that's what we're rolling with.
- 1:31Speaker 3: That's what who we are, and that's what we're we're
- 1:33Speaker 3: standing on. And I think it's just an awesome mindset
- 1:36Speaker 3: to have. You know, these banners. Great to see our
- 1:39Speaker 3: names and to see you know, what we've done here,
- 1:42Speaker 3: you know, in the last year, and you know we
- 1:43Speaker 3: want to move it forward and and build and evolve,
- 1:48Speaker 3: you know, with this new team and new circumstances that
- 1:51Speaker 3: we're looking forward to.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Have you had a chance to kind of reflect. I'm going
- 1:55Speaker 1: to lot some fust I might freak out, and you
- 1:57Speaker 1: come at the season that you did and show your
- 1:59Speaker 1: own the best receipt in the league title and you
- 2:01Speaker 1: get the contract, you go with it.
- 2:02Speaker 2: What is it kind of all Ben, Mike for you
- 2:04Speaker 2: kind of pick it back.
- 2:05Speaker 3: On first and foremost, it's a blessing. This year has been,
- 2:09Speaker 3: you know great. It's brought me a lot of great
- 2:12Speaker 3: things and things to learn and overcome and trophies and
- 2:16Speaker 3: parades and stuff like that. So it's a blessing. It's
- 2:18Speaker 3: been an amazing year and we're six months into the year
- 2:21Speaker 3: and I'm looking forward to the to the rest of it.
- 2:24Speaker 2: When you accomplished as much as you accomplished last year,
- 2:27Speaker 2: or it's just brattled off the individual the team stuff,
- 2:30Speaker 2: like what what keeps you motivated?
- 2:32Speaker 3: Really the process Honestly when I said last year, the
- 2:35Speaker 3: process over results. You know, that's something that we live
- 2:37Speaker 3: by and it's something that I want to perfect and
- 2:40Speaker 3: grow and as a player and as a person. The
- 2:43Speaker 3: off season is great, Like I say, each year, all
- 2:46Speaker 3: seasons great to just for me learn as grow as
- 2:49Speaker 3: a person and a player. And you know there's a
- 2:52Speaker 3: lot of work to be done. So just understanding that
- 2:55Speaker 3: and reaching for that goal is something that you know
- 2:57Speaker 3: keeps me on track and motivated.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Jack the end of the off season program here how
- 3:01Speaker 2: do you feel about where you guys are at with
- 3:03Speaker 2: the new offense and how coach Fleury is may be
- 3:05Speaker 2: bringing out some different wrinkles with your guys.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been great. I mean we're all here learning,
- 3:11Speaker 3: you know, all the guys. We're excited to be back
- 3:13Speaker 3: and learn together and be together and figure this thing out.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And it's been awesome. I think everybody's kind of understanding,
- 3:21Speaker 3: you know, what we want to become. And it's been
- 3:23Speaker 3: great to get on the field and get back with
- 3:26Speaker 3: my guys and put it on tape and go over it.
- 3:29Speaker 3: So you know, we love to do that, and you know,
- 3:32Speaker 3: this is the start of the new season.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Straightforward.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's been good. Offense been good, Meeting has been great.
- 3:39Speaker 3: We're the type of guys that just you know, tell
- 3:40Speaker 3: us what we need to do and we'll go out
- 3:41Speaker 3: there and do it and you know, fix any problems.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So it's been great, healthy and awesome. What you got anything, Eric,
- 3:49Speaker 3: one of the.
- 3:50Speaker 1: One hundred most influencial people our time.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Connecting the sports. Still got to think about it and
- 3:59Speaker 3: grasp it. But it's it's an honor, you know, I
- 4:01Speaker 3: believe if I'm going to be an influencer, you know,
- 4:05Speaker 3: I want to influence in the right way, and that's
- 4:07Speaker 3: you know, you know, with my faith and you know
- 4:09Speaker 3: how to treat people being in a building outside of
- 4:12Speaker 3: the building, the community. So it was awesome to see
- 4:15Speaker 3: that today.
- 4:16Speaker 4: What if anything, you know, it's different in Sam this
- 4:19Speaker 4: year where he see him been with you for a
- 4:20Speaker 4: whole year versus keeping new to this team last year.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Really, I mean it's his team. I love going into
- 4:27Speaker 3: you know, year or two, you know, with these guys
- 4:29Speaker 3: and Sam especially, just to grow the connection and we
- 4:32Speaker 3: really understand each other on the field and I understand
- 4:35Speaker 3: what he needs from me. So just to take another
- 4:37Speaker 3: step forward is something that I always love and look
- 4:40Speaker 3: forward to.
- 4:41Speaker 1: What was your first purchase after deal? Any spurges or.
- 4:45Speaker 3: No spurges, just figuring everything out and making sure you know,
- 4:49Speaker 3: I understand, you know what's going on, and you know
- 4:52Speaker 3: how much I'm getting and you know all that really,
- 4:55Speaker 3: So my last song is you know great, I'm comfortable
- 4:57Speaker 3: where I'm at, So I don't need anything to really
- 5:00Speaker 3: change that.
- 5:01Speaker 1: How do you have you saying nothing's changed really for you?
- 5:05Speaker 1: And how do you keep nothing changing?
- 5:06Speaker 3: That's I wouldn't say nothing, of course, but when it
- 5:09Speaker 3: comes to my everyday lifestyle. Yeah, nothing's there's always nuances that.
- 5:13Speaker 1: You add on.
- 5:14Speaker 3: You know that I add to my routine that I
- 5:17Speaker 3: feel like are good and healthy. But you know, I'm
- 5:19Speaker 3: a simple man. That's what I'm really trying to say.
- 5:21Speaker 3: You know, I love to play ball, love to be here.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I love to go home and chill. So that's what
- 5:27Speaker 3: I mean by that.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you mentioned taking another step for you personally, what
- 5:31Speaker 2: could that be?
- 5:31Speaker 3: Like I said, in the off season, it's always attacking,
- 5:34Speaker 3: getting bigger, faster, stronger, and that second year of growth
- 5:39Speaker 3: with Sam and and the team and you know, playing
- 5:42Speaker 3: off sheet and coop and just evolving in that in
- 5:45Speaker 3: that way.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Seeing Rashid take off here he's now having first.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Full off yeah last year. Yeah, Yeah, I'm excited for him.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Came back more explosive than ever. I'm happy for him to,
- 5:59Speaker 3: you know, find to get a whole off season with
- 6:01Speaker 3: us and into training camp. It's always a special time
- 6:04Speaker 3: and it's a grind. So for him to be here
- 6:06Speaker 3: with us and go through that, I think it's gonna
- 6:09Speaker 3: just excel him to you know, greater things this season.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Mom asked you.
- 6:13Speaker 3: About the trophy thing, There's also that obviously you have
- 6:20Speaker 3: a lot to be happy about the Super Bowl. It's
- 6:22Speaker 3: a lot and a lot of things are thrown at you.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I try my best to stay focused and stuff like that,
- 6:27Speaker 3: you know, on the game. Of course, I have no feelings,
- 6:29Speaker 3: no ways towards the NFL, Roger or or Drewski. So
- 6:35Speaker 3: I'll just take my trophy and accolades and and all
- 6:38Speaker 3: that stuff and chill at home.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And what was the contract process like for you to
- 6:42Speaker 1: get back down and everything in High Country?
- 6:45Speaker 3: From what I know, it was really good. Obviously we
- 6:47Speaker 3: got it done early.
- 6:48Speaker 1: That was awesome.
- 6:49Speaker 2: That was really good.
- 6:50Speaker 3: And for me to just really be here with the
- 6:53Speaker 3: guys and focus, you know, on what's next. So you know,
- 6:56Speaker 3: I definitely appreciate them for doing that.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Jackson Smith and Jig been talking to us after practice yesterday.
- 7:05Speaker 1: He said he did splurge, but he did. He actually
- 7:09Speaker 1: told me offline on the side a few minutes later
- 7:11Speaker 1: that he bought a house here in the Pacific Northwest.
- 7:13Speaker 1: He's now a homeowner. So he's the Texas kid who
- 7:16Speaker 1: started at Ohio State is now fully a Pacific Northwest guy.
- 7:20Speaker 1: At age twenty two. He bought a house in Issaqua,
- 7:23Speaker 1: a little east renting Highlands. I said, issaquoi you like driving?
- 7:26Speaker 1: He said, I'm telling me about a fifteen minute drive
- 7:29Speaker 1: to the facility. But that contract he signed was earlier
- 7:33Speaker 1: than most John Schneider Foundation contracts go usually, as we
- 7:38Speaker 1: mentioned with the Devin Witherspoon situation that happens right around
- 7:41Speaker 1: the start of training camp. But Smith and Jigben, his agent,
- 7:45Speaker 1: were willing to do a deal in March, one hundred
- 7:47Speaker 1: and sixty eight million, one hundred and twenty plus million
- 7:50Speaker 1: of it guaranteed at the top of the wide receiver market.
- 7:55Speaker 1: He's still when you talk to him, though, Chris, I
- 7:56Speaker 1: mean he's a twenty two year old guy. He's still
- 7:58Speaker 1: a young man in east somewhat of the same self
- 8:02Speaker 1: he was the first day he rolled in here from
- 8:04Speaker 1: Ohio State. He he is somewhat not flashy, and he
- 8:08Speaker 1: I mean he has the cowboy hat and the sunglasses
- 8:10Speaker 1: on and his collars up after day.
- 8:12Speaker 5: He don't talk, that's what you mean, Greg.
- 8:14Speaker 4: He just plays his play does the talking, which is
- 8:17Speaker 4: probably the worst thing ever. I don't know if there's
- 8:19Speaker 4: anything more humbling than someone that doesn't talk to you.
- 8:22Speaker 4: They just bust your ass on the field and there's
- 8:24Speaker 4: nothing you can do about it. Ask lenor that plays
- 8:27Speaker 4: for the Niners.
- 8:28Speaker 5: What does he do? He talks and talks and talks.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Json don't say nothing, and if he does say something,
- 8:34Speaker 4: it might be after a first down and he's just responding.
- 8:37Speaker 4: But he don't talk in the media about other people.
- 8:39Speaker 4: He just goes out on Sundays and plays ball, which
- 8:43Speaker 4: is why he's one of the best receivers in the league.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Now he does talk on the field, of guys he
- 8:47Speaker 1: will see.
- 8:48Speaker 4: He does, but I mean more so media wise, like
- 8:50Speaker 4: a lot of players. Yeah, he you know, I'm just
- 8:53Speaker 4: about I just go on the field and do what
- 8:55Speaker 4: I do. Like everyone usually talks in the field, but
- 8:58Speaker 4: we don't eve get to see it. We just see
- 8:59Speaker 4: his head as hell moving and pointing, but we don't know.
- 9:02Speaker 4: All we know he's just saying, it's the first down.
- 9:04Speaker 4: You can't stop me. So he's he's a fun guy
- 9:07Speaker 4: to watch and he's only twenty four. So this is
- 9:10Speaker 4: this is something that can go on for a very
- 9:12Speaker 4: long time, and he's just getting to the peak of
- 9:14Speaker 4: his powers and there's no telling how good or great
- 9:17Speaker 4: he can be, especially with this coaching staff and an
- 9:19Speaker 4: organization like Seattle, because I think it matters where you
- 9:22Speaker 4: end up. Right, if he went to a different team,
- 9:24Speaker 4: we don't know how well he could play or how
- 9:26Speaker 4: good he can be. But he's in the right place
- 9:28Speaker 4: at the right time, and he's not he's not getting cocky.
- 9:31Speaker 4: He doesn't have a big head, a big ego. He
- 9:33Speaker 4: just goes out there and does it. And that has
- 9:35Speaker 4: to be so humbling. If you're a defender, a guy
- 9:37Speaker 4: that don't talk about you to the media, they probably
- 9:40Speaker 4: ask questions like, Hey, going up against JSN this week,
- 9:42Speaker 4: what are your thoughts? And on the other end, JSN
- 9:45Speaker 4: is just like, yeah, you're going up beaint this dB. Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 4: I respect him. You know, I'm excited for the challenge
- 9:49Speaker 4: and we'll go out there and you know, see who
- 9:51Speaker 4: comes out on top. Like that's his generic answer. He's
- 9:54Speaker 4: just very cool, calm, collected. He's not looking to one
- 9:58Speaker 4: up you with the media. He's looking to go out
- 10:00Speaker 4: there and one up you on the field, which I
- 10:01Speaker 4: think is just that stings if you're a dB that'd
- 10:04Speaker 4: love to talk and he just goes out there and
- 10:06Speaker 4: bust your ass, and then then you can now you
- 10:08Speaker 4: can really say, you know, he just gave you work,
- 10:10Speaker 4: but you were doing all that talking to the reporters
- 10:12Speaker 4: and media kind of get your name out there.
- 10:14Speaker 5: And meanwhile, the tape speaks for itself.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Them out there. He's busting them out here. I mean,
- 10:20Speaker 1: of course, this time last year with Sam Darnold, the
- 10:24Speaker 1: offense wasn't doing what it's doing this year, which is
- 10:26Speaker 1: really smooth finding open guys, long crossing routes, quick outs,
- 10:31Speaker 1: deep down the side of a couple of deep catches
- 10:33Speaker 1: down the sideline. Yesterday, one time he Smith and Jigbab
- 10:37Speaker 1: beat coverage that was rolled to his side to prevent
- 10:40Speaker 1: a deep out route they had. They had quarters on
- 10:43Speaker 1: one side. They were playing it really like a cover
- 10:46Speaker 1: six where they're putting quarters to his side.
- 10:48Speaker 5: They still he still got them, had a corner and.
- 10:50Speaker 1: A safety take guard against the deep out, and he
- 10:52Speaker 1: still beat him with the route, and then he had
- 10:55Speaker 1: one down the left sideline. Chris, you look at this team.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, they have DeMarcus Lawrence at thirty four
- 11:02Speaker 1: and the thirty somethings Cooper Cup and Leonard Williams. But
- 11:05Speaker 1: look at the team. They're best players, Jackson Smith and
- 11:08Speaker 1: Jagob the reigning offensive player that year, twenty four years old.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Like you mentioned, Nick even Worry a demon last year
- 11:14Speaker 1: twenty two. Devin Witherspoon's about to be the richest cornerback
- 11:18Speaker 1: in the NFL. Twenty five Sam Darnold, who this time
- 11:21Speaker 1: next year will get a mammoth contract to remain the
- 11:24Speaker 1: Seahawks quarterback after winning the Super Bowl. He's twenty eight.
- 11:27Speaker 1: None of those guys old. I mean they're in the
- 11:30Speaker 1: prime of their athletic careers, right. That's Chuck asked me
- 11:35Speaker 1: this morning the difference between the twenty fourteen Seahawks, the
- 11:38Speaker 1: legion of boom coming off the Super Bowl, and this
- 11:41Speaker 1: Seahawks team coming off the Super Bowl, And I said,
- 11:43Speaker 1: it's where those best players are in their careers. The
- 11:47Speaker 1: post first Super Bowl legion of boom Seahawks. Yeah, they
- 11:51Speaker 1: were just starting out too, but they were all about
- 11:53Speaker 1: to get paid giant sums of money. They had outsized personnel,
- 11:57Speaker 1: I think Marshawn Lynch and Richard Sherr and Earl Thomas
- 12:02Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner, not so the personality but the player. But
- 12:05Speaker 1: those guys were about to get mammoth contracts, and they
- 12:08Speaker 1: were all about themselves and their outside personality because Pete
- 12:12Speaker 1: Carroll cultivated and encouraged that. This team's exactly opposite. They
- 12:16Speaker 1: don't have the huge outside personal I mean, Witherspoon's an
- 12:19Speaker 1: outside personality, but he hasn't been an All Pro and
- 12:21Speaker 1: he's really not a national superstar cover of Sports Illustrated
- 12:26Speaker 1: you mad bro type of guy like Richard Sherman is.
- 12:30Speaker 1: But these guys just it's a totally different vibe. There's
- 12:34Speaker 1: the togetherness, the brotherhood, the inside the locker room. It's
- 12:38Speaker 1: less look at me and it's more look at us.
- 12:41Speaker 1: And that first lead in a Boom team was look
- 12:43Speaker 1: at us, absolutely in your face. Not so with this team,
- 12:46Speaker 1: and that's some of the culture that Mike McDonald has
- 12:48Speaker 1: brought here. But to me, that's a that's a really
- 12:52Speaker 1: hard trick for a first time head coach after just
- 12:55Speaker 1: two years to establish that kind of look at us,
- 12:59Speaker 1: not look at me calledlture. And if I could describe
- 13:01Speaker 1: to someone and what the difference is between the legion
- 13:04Speaker 1: of Boom Seahawks coming off the Super Bowl win and
- 13:06Speaker 1: this one, it would probably be that the culture, the selflessness,
- 13:12Speaker 1: not that they were selfish. The Seahawks of the twenty
- 13:14Speaker 1: fourteen but they were about themselves. I mean, think about it.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Sherman and Thomas and Russell Wilson and Marshaun Winch, not
- 13:25Speaker 1: these guys. They really are different. And that's the culture
- 13:28Speaker 1: buy in that Mike McDonald's brought. It permeates everything they do.
- 13:32Speaker 5: Oh yeah, you're seeing it.
- 13:34Speaker 4: So when you listen to JSN talk about getting a
- 13:39Speaker 4: new deal going forward, not repeating in terms of what
- 13:43Speaker 4: they plan on doing, but the playing it moving forward
- 13:47Speaker 4: in terms of we're trying to win another super Bowl,
- 13:49Speaker 4: but we're not trying to repeat. There's just a different
- 13:51Speaker 4: language they use. And he's all in right. And you
- 13:54Speaker 4: talk about the youth, Mike McDonald's young too. It's just
- 13:57Speaker 4: a bunch of young, talented players that are mature and
- 14:01Speaker 4: have one goal in mind, and nothing gets in the way.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Whether it's HBO hard knocks coming in to talk about
- 14:08Speaker 4: this team that played so well last year and looking
- 14:11Speaker 4: to see what they can do this year, none of
- 14:13Speaker 4: that matters. It matters about those fifty three guys in
- 14:15Speaker 4: the locker room, the coaching staff and everyone outside that
- 14:18Speaker 4: makes this thing go. So it's another It's gonna be
- 14:21Speaker 4: another fun season for this team. They've already announced training camp,
- 14:24Speaker 4: so I'm sure fans have already gone online and started
- 14:27Speaker 4: getting their tickets for that. It's just exciting to see
- 14:30Speaker 4: this young team play so mature and so well together
- 14:34Speaker 4: and gretit.
- 14:34Speaker 5: They do have veteran leaders.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Leonard Williams can go on and on about all these
- 14:38Speaker 4: older guys that won last year that are still looking
- 14:42Speaker 4: for something, whether it be DeMarcus Lawrence who came to
- 14:45Speaker 4: Seattle to do one goal, one thing and that's win
- 14:47Speaker 4: is the ruble, which he got and he's back again.
- 14:49Speaker 4: So this is just gonna be another fun year for
- 14:51Speaker 4: this group. And as I mentioned with Mike McDonald and company,
- 14:54Speaker 4: and I'm excited to see what the new owners because
- 14:56Speaker 4: that's gonna play a big role too, right.
- 14:59Speaker 1: That will shape the culture. And like I said, there's
- 15:02Speaker 1: a local buyer out there who may swoop in that
- 15:05Speaker 1: nobody's talking about right now so far, at least not officially.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Four nine four five one. What excites you about the Seahawks.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Who's the player that you think stirs to drink the
- 15:15Speaker 1: most and who excites you the most about the twenty
- 15:17Speaker 1: twenty six Seahawks. Repeating and getting back to the Super Bowl?
- 15:22Speaker 1: Who excites you at? Which player is at Witherspoon? Is
- 15:24Speaker 1: it Jackson Smith? And Jigby the All Pro wide receiver?
- 15:26Speaker 1: That's Sam Darnold at quarterback? Is at the nu Jedarian
- 15:29Speaker 1: Price at running back? Who excites you the most for
- 15:32Speaker 1: this season? Coming up? And why? We'll read back your
- 15:35Speaker 1: text at eleven thirty Coming up next The Tacoma Doadge
- 15:38Speaker 1: text line here from the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, Seahawks
- 15:41Speaker 1: Headquarters at Seahawks Training Camp live on ninety three point
- 15:43Speaker 1: three KJRFM. Yeah, the.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Good do it all together?
- 16:04Speaker 5: And again.
- 16:14Speaker 2: This context, it's kind of hard.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Uh huh?
- 16:26Speaker 1: Christ, did you know what this was out of context
- 16:28Speaker 1: when you just heard it from the first I did,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and the text line probably knows it would surprise me
- 16:36Speaker 1: because I would not know what it is. I would
- 16:40Speaker 1: I would not know what that was just out of context.
- 16:44Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 16:44Speaker 4: I tried to tell you a little bit before I
- 16:46Speaker 4: gave it to you, because to your point, yeah, I
- 16:48Speaker 4: don't know if I would have got it immediately off
- 16:50Speaker 4: from just hearing it. But once I told you were like, ah, okay,
- 16:54Speaker 4: I don't know if I would have got that just listening,
- 16:56Speaker 4: so we'll see. Some people might be like, what the
- 16:58Speaker 4: hell did I just hear? Other might go back into
- 17:01Speaker 4: you know, a couple of years. I don't know how
- 17:02Speaker 4: long it's been, but twenty years.
- 17:04Speaker 1: What was that on the text line four nine four
- 17:06Speaker 1: five one? That the kumodage text line, what what did
- 17:08Speaker 1: Chris just play?
- 17:09Speaker 5: I don't even know?
- 17:10Speaker 1: Told me he was gonna play it before he did.
- 17:11Speaker 1: That's the only reason I know what it was. It's
- 17:15Speaker 1: it is a spoken lyrical version of an instrumental that
- 17:20Speaker 1: you may know from your almost childhood, depending on how
- 17:22Speaker 1: old you are.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Yeah, my childhood for you guys is probably older adults
- 17:27Speaker 4: with your young children.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Yes, for my kids, Yes, that was it was for
- 17:31Speaker 1: my kids. Yes, the music means it is part of that.
- 17:35Speaker 1: You're part of the show. With his text line four
- 17:37Speaker 1: nine four five one, we read it back at eleven
- 17:39Speaker 1: thirty every.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Day, all right from the two oh six, Hey, Greg
- 17:43Speaker 4: and Chris Rodley Mills number ninety eight in your program.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Anyone who can essentially bury an old line and cute
- 17:49Speaker 4: quarterback coming back from that injury and one Super Bowl
- 17:53Speaker 4: play gets my biggest shout for who I'm watching those guys,
- 17:57Speaker 4: really good player. Whispers in the press so far will
- 18:01Speaker 4: have names in twenty twenty six.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I like that. I think so Mills Radley Mills can
- 18:07Speaker 1: only be so much better than last year because last
- 18:09Speaker 1: year he didn't practice till December. Right, he was out
- 18:13Speaker 1: for an acl there from Notre Dame from December twenty
- 18:16Speaker 1: four to December twenty five.
- 18:18Speaker 5: From the three six.
- 18:19Speaker 4: So it's amazing to me what can be accomplished when
- 18:22Speaker 4: all members are rolling in the same direction. Trust and
- 18:25Speaker 4: Mike McDonald and Schneider. You see what they three in
- 18:27Speaker 4: there rowing.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I like that. That's right. Oh, there's people on the
- 18:31Speaker 1: text line getting it.
- 18:33Speaker 5: Oh, there are I haven't refreshed.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Let's say it's not from the four to one out,
- 18:36Speaker 1: it's not up from Mario paint on super Nys is it?
- 18:39Speaker 4: No, I don't know. I've never played that, but it
- 18:43Speaker 4: might be in there. I don't know how far that
- 18:45Speaker 4: We won't We won't say yet what it is. Wells
- 18:48Speaker 4: a couple of people.
- 18:49Speaker 1: That got right.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Yeah, Kobell did get it right.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Which okay, the two five three said it was the
- 18:52Speaker 1: bating call of a Tibetan yak. That is not true.
- 18:57Speaker 1: That is not true. For two vices Mills I he
- 19:00Speaker 1: Emon Warrior, who he's or she is most excited to
- 19:03Speaker 1: see on defense, Price Smith and Jigma and Darnold on offense.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Fortune vis says, Greg, thanks for the Freddie la seven
- 19:12Speaker 1: tip a twitter x go to at Freddie fri d
- 19:16Speaker 1: d y la seven German in the United States for
- 19:20Speaker 1: the first time for the World Cup, giving a slice
- 19:23Speaker 1: of everyday a marcana and marveling over it, he said.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Fortune Vive says, what a fun follow. He said, He's
- 19:29Speaker 1: getting a lot of suggestions going to a strip club
- 19:31Speaker 1: and wants to know if this is normal.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Oh, talk to you boys, see kid, it's normal. Man,
- 19:37Speaker 5: Not anybody likes him?
- 19:37Speaker 1: What is normal? Also, Randy or Rose Arena is the
- 19:43Speaker 1: second coming of Fernando Rodney is the offensive defensive version
- 19:48Speaker 1: of the pitching. For those of you who were not
- 19:50Speaker 1: in Seattle for the Fernando or Rodney experience. Closer, veteran Closer,
- 19:54Speaker 1: wore his hat crooked almost every time he came into
- 19:58Speaker 1: the game as an adventure. He'd hit guys, he'd walk guys.
- 20:00Speaker 1: He getting all kinds of self made jams. About half
- 20:03Speaker 1: the time, maybe three fourths the time he got out
- 20:05Speaker 1: of him. But yeah, we called it the Fernando Rodney
- 20:08Speaker 1: experience are in Seattle because of how Tightwire acted every
- 20:13Speaker 1: time he came into the game.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Closing games were from the four to one zero.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I love that idea of winning another Super Bowl as
- 20:21Speaker 4: opposed to repeating winning another show. They are ready to
- 20:24Speaker 4: put in the work, that they know how hard it
- 20:26Speaker 4: is to win two in a row and that they
- 20:28Speaker 4: aren't taking this lightly. Having the mindset of the repeat
- 20:31Speaker 4: puts it in your head is up to other people
- 20:34Speaker 4: to lose and try to play up to your level.
- 20:36Speaker 4: And when you have that mindset, you never strive to
- 20:38Speaker 4: improve because you think what you did last year is
- 20:40Speaker 4: good enough for this year too.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Oh go ahead. Andy from the two oh six we
- 20:47Speaker 1: talked about Freddie la seven, the German who's here in
- 20:50Speaker 1: the United States for the first time, going to BUCkies
- 20:52Speaker 1: for the first time, being blown away that the Buckets
- 20:54Speaker 1: was a gas station. Andy from the two oh six
- 20:59Speaker 1: is our family went to BUCkies and Texas and kid
- 21:01Speaker 1: and the kids loved it. The wife not so much.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Have you ever been to a BUCkies, Chris, I have not.
- 21:08Speaker 1: It's it's an experience. It's pretty wild. There's a gal
- 21:12Speaker 1: from Texas who did a video on a BUCkies and
- 21:16Speaker 1: she's it's hilarious. She takes a camera into BUCkies, even
- 21:18Speaker 1: goes into the bathroom, but she does a camera of
- 21:21Speaker 1: all the things that are in there and very off color,
- 21:24Speaker 1: not suitable for work video. I think we couldn't err
- 21:26Speaker 1: it the stuff she says, but it's all there. It's true.
- 21:31Speaker 1: My daughter, she for her first year of college was
- 21:35Speaker 1: on an Air Force ORROWTC scholarship at Emvery Riddle and
- 21:37Speaker 1: Daytona Beach. That's a whole other story. At military cadet
- 21:42Speaker 1: spending a year of college in Daytona Beach. But outside
- 21:45Speaker 1: Daytona Beach was a huge BUCkies right along Interstate ninety five,
- 21:48Speaker 1: and I'd been there a couple times. I stepped back
- 21:51Speaker 1: and was blown away. It was like, this place is unbelievable,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but yeah, Freddie la seven from Germany's getting a taste
- 21:59Speaker 1: of it. Another person on the text line said men
- 22:01Speaker 1: and Blaze I actually might have been on my Twitter
- 22:03Speaker 1: account out you. Bill Seattle said men and Blazers, the
- 22:06Speaker 1: two guys in soccer, the British fame that had been
- 22:09Speaker 1: on NBC Sports for a while. Men and Blazers apparently
- 22:13Speaker 1: is retweeting all of these type of Freddy La seven
- 22:16Speaker 1: type accounts of people from outside the United States coming
- 22:19Speaker 1: to America for the first time and experiencing everyday life
- 22:22Speaker 1: and posting their experiences with it. So men and Blazers
- 22:25Speaker 1: has it if you want to see.
- 22:26Speaker 4: That last one for me? Yes, for maybe one that's
- 22:29Speaker 4: texting in Wei music we sports. That is correct. I thought,
- 22:33Speaker 4: just tap into a little bit of nostalgia there to
- 22:35Speaker 4: see who can figure it out. Greg was like, yeah,
- 22:37Speaker 4: if you didn't give me contexts, I probably would have
- 22:39Speaker 4: been lost in the sauce. But yes, just a childhood
- 22:41Speaker 4: memory for me. I was like, that's pretty cool. Someone
- 22:44Speaker 4: acquired did that. And no, Keith, it wasn't a KJR
- 22:47Speaker 4: staff even though you enjoyed it.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So yes, no, it wasn't.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Maybe we could try it.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Damon from the four two, five to six, he's excited
- 22:57Speaker 1: this Seahawks season to see anyone that maybe replace Bradford
- 23:01Speaker 1: on the line. Geez, man, why the hate for Anthony Bradford?
- 23:06Speaker 4: Because Greg, he makes you know, in a seventeen game season,
- 23:09Speaker 4: he has like twenty bad plays that are visible, like
- 23:12Speaker 4: oh my.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Gosh, get broken down. On social media.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Yes, they don't see the other one hundred and thirty
- 23:17Speaker 4: that are like, wow, that was Bradford just bullying someone.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Because all of us could just push around three hundred pounds.
- 23:24Speaker 5: I'm not get into that. I can't anyway. Go ahead, Greg,
- 23:27Speaker 5: that's not an easy job.
- 23:29Speaker 1: That's not an easy job. Two five three. He's a
- 23:33Speaker 1: twenty year Air Force loadmaster of C seventeen's on I'm
- 23:36Speaker 1: a Court Air Force Base. Greg, you were military. You
- 23:39Speaker 1: know more than most that the world is completely unique
- 23:42Speaker 1: depending on the country you are, and and most people
- 23:45Speaker 1: around the world only know what they've seen in TVs,
- 23:48Speaker 1: in the movie or on the news. Everyone should be
- 23:50Speaker 1: required to experience a new culture prior to graduating high school.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Thanks for your service. Thanks for your service, twenty year
- 23:57Speaker 1: US Air Force. It's true. Serving around the world and
- 24:01Speaker 1: going around the world, it is a unique, different experience.
- 24:04Speaker 1: It gives a whole new outlook on humanity and life
- 24:07Speaker 1: and how other people live, and how your world is
- 24:10Speaker 1: bigger than just yourself and all of that. Yeah, it's
- 24:13Speaker 1: a really cool experience. So that is a neat byproduct,
- 24:15Speaker 1: like I mentioned, of this world coming to the United States,
- 24:18Speaker 1: Canada and Mexico of people coming and visiting. There was
- 24:22Speaker 1: a video online last night of the fans of the
- 24:25Speaker 1: Netherlands team, the official the Orange Netherlands partying in the
- 24:30Speaker 1: streets of Kansas City. I was a giant party in
- 24:33Speaker 1: dance and song and right in downtown Kansas City on
- 24:37Speaker 1: the streets and where the Netherlands are based before they
- 24:40Speaker 1: start World Cup play. The World Cup play begins on
- 24:43Speaker 1: Thursday in Mexico City at the Stadio Steca, the historical
- 24:47Speaker 1: shrine for soccer in Mexico. Mexico against South America and again.
- 24:51Speaker 1: The first match for Seattle is at Blumenfield Monday at
- 24:55Speaker 1: noon Belgium and Egypt. It's supposed to be ninety two
- 24:58Speaker 1: degrees for a twelve pm kickoff on Monday at Newmanfield.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I'll be there broadcasting live from Jimmy's at ten am
- 25:06Speaker 1: on Monday, heading into my coverage for the News Tribune
- 25:09Speaker 1: News Tribune dot Com of the World Cup coming to Seattle.
- 25:13Speaker 1: All the matches will be carried on the iHeartRadio app
- 25:15Speaker 1: by the way, then the simulcast with Fox Sports Television.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I'm next Ian Forness, gonna join us here from the
- 25:22Speaker 1: Seahawks headquarters They're in an act T shirts doing nothing
- 25:26Speaker 1: practice today, so I'm not missing much when I miss.
- 25:30Speaker 1: If I do miss the first few minutes, we'll be
- 25:32Speaker 1: back from the Seahawks Headquarters next on ninety three point
- 25:34Speaker 1: three KJRFM. Welcome back to the Greg Rest Show with
- 25:45Speaker 1: Christopher Kid Live on ninety three point three kJ r FM.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Ian Forness is joining me, but he's running around somewhere
- 25:52Speaker 1: here in the Virginia Mason Athletics Center at Seahawks Headquarters.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Training camp or excuse me, mini camp practice beginning today.
- 25:59Speaker 1: They're doing in an act practice. It's one of the
- 26:02Speaker 1: light attention and technique communication. That's the acronym that Mike
- 26:10Speaker 1: McDonald has for his team when they go shorts, bucket hats,
- 26:13Speaker 1: and T shirts. So not much of a practice today,
- 26:18Speaker 1: then they'll practice again tomorrow. They went about two and
- 26:19Speaker 1: a half hours yesterday and shorts, T shirts, and helmets.
- 26:23Speaker 1: The NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement limits teams and coaches on
- 26:28Speaker 1: what they can do with players this time of year.
- 26:31Speaker 1: He could even limit them during training camp and how
- 26:33Speaker 1: much they can be in full pads, limits them during
- 26:35Speaker 1: the regular season, how much they can be in full
- 26:37Speaker 1: patch it's only fourteen practices in an eighteen week regular
- 26:42Speaker 1: season that you're allowed to have in full pads. So no,
- 26:45Speaker 1: it's not full team football, fold go football. And it's
- 26:48Speaker 1: really hard this time of year to get a read
- 26:50Speaker 1: on the offense of the defensive lines per se. But
- 26:55Speaker 1: I will say this, the offensive line, even though they're
- 26:57Speaker 1: not banging in pads the continent, the smoothness is so
- 27:02Speaker 1: much better this year. Obviously, all five starters are returning
- 27:06Speaker 1: John Bent in the offensive line coaches returning. This time
- 27:09Speaker 1: last year, John Bent was brand new to the Seahawks.
- 27:12Speaker 1: His terminology, his verbiage, his emphasis on solely the outside
- 27:17Speaker 1: zone blocking scheme was all new to these guys. And
- 27:20Speaker 1: OTA's in mini camps they were still working through that stuff.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Missed assignments, false starts. None of that this offseason. What
- 27:29Speaker 1: I've seen in OTA's in mini camp, none of that.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Charles crossback at left tackle, Gray's Abel is gonna make
- 27:35Speaker 1: a leap here in year two, because all rookies make
- 27:37Speaker 1: their leap in year two, and he was already with
- 27:40Speaker 1: a high floor, I mean the highest floor you can
- 27:42Speaker 1: imagine as a rookie first round picking starter from day one.
- 27:46Speaker 1: He'll be a better left guard than he was as
- 27:48Speaker 1: a stud last year. Jalensendell is entering his second season
- 27:52Speaker 1: now as the starting center. This time last year, we
- 27:54Speaker 1: talked about this last week. This time last year, Jalensondell
- 27:58Speaker 1: was competing for the right guards with Anthony Bradford Christian Haynes.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Not now, I mean this time last year, Ow with
- 28:06Speaker 1: Timmy and Nick Harris were competing for the starting center job.
- 28:09Speaker 1: They end up trading Nick Harris back to Cleveland the
- 28:12Speaker 1: former University of Washington Husky Center, and they ended up
- 28:15Speaker 1: demoting Ola with Timmy because of how good Sondell was
- 28:18Speaker 1: at center in training camp. But now Sundell's back is
- 28:21Speaker 1: the incumbent starting center, which makes the line better that
- 28:25Speaker 1: your center is the same one as it was last year.
- 28:27Speaker 1: The right guard is, of course the issue everyone here
- 28:31Speaker 1: on the text line and on the show had talked
- 28:32Speaker 1: about in the station. Talk about Anthony Bradford. The coaches
- 28:36Speaker 1: will say they love him, and he's to them, yeah,
- 28:40Speaker 1: he's gonna start again. Maybe Bo Stevens will challenge at
- 28:44Speaker 1: right guard, the rookie fifth round pick and All American
- 28:46Speaker 1: from Iowa, but not immediately. Bo Stevens is the third
- 28:51Speaker 1: team guard right now, Christian Haynes has been the second
- 28:54Speaker 1: team right guard, with Anthony Bradford the number one, and
- 28:57Speaker 1: Bo Stevens from Iowa has been a distant third, working
- 29:00Speaker 1: mostly with Jalon Milroe and the third string on the
- 29:04Speaker 1: offensive line. Now he in forness joint. Hey how are
- 29:06Speaker 1: you you're from?
- 29:07Speaker 2: It's quiet out there. They're inside.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Yeah, T shirts, bucket ads.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I didn't even know what that. I mean, they're inside.
- 29:13Speaker 2: I was outside, so I do into something real quick.
- 29:15Speaker 2: But yeah, they're I'm not sure what's gonna happen. They're
- 29:19Speaker 2: very quiet day to day.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, very quiet. That's the cookie he gives every
- 29:23Speaker 1: once in a while. They went two and a half,
- 29:24Speaker 1: almost three hours.
- 29:26Speaker 2: And they, by all accounts, are going to practice tomorrow.
- 29:28Speaker 1: YEP.
- 29:28Speaker 2: And in the past there's been a lot of times
- 29:30Speaker 2: that Pete, including and Mike have canceled the last day
- 29:32Speaker 2: of mandatory mini camp. That's not the case. We're being
- 29:34Speaker 2: told tomorrow they are going to practice. They've got some
- 29:36Speaker 2: stuff going on out here. So short practice today, I think,
- 29:39Speaker 2: some sort of team bonding thing afterwards and away you go. So, yeah,
- 29:42Speaker 2: how are you?
- 29:43Speaker 1: I'm well? Thanks? Yeah, I've been told from you and
- 29:46Speaker 1: a couple other people. I've been told that they're going
- 29:48Speaker 1: to do a top park. They do that every year,
- 29:49Speaker 1: they top golf. That's the room golf.
- 29:51Speaker 2: That's the rumor. Yeah, yeah, that's the rumor that they're
- 29:53Speaker 2: gonna do that out or something. But who knows.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Players love that, they love getting away from football, and
- 29:58Speaker 1: they have to be here anyway by NFL eb al.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Yeah, just go do something besides that exactly right side football. Yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 2: which is cool.
- 30:04Speaker 1: So and then tomorrow and I they're gonna it's gonna
- 30:06Speaker 1: be a gala. I'm told here at the facility after practice,
- 30:09Speaker 1: a couple of hours after practice, big wigs are coming in,
- 30:13Speaker 1: some corporate people are coming in and they're gonna give
- 30:16Speaker 1: out the Super Bowl rings to the players, the coaches,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and the staff here at the Virginia Mason Athletics Center
- 30:20Speaker 1: tomorrow as a way to end the off season program
- 30:23Speaker 1: and kick them off for the six weeks they have until.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I think that's awesome. It feels like when they did it,
- 30:28Speaker 2: when they went I can't remember when they it was later.
- 30:31Speaker 2: I want to see, I can't. I couldn't remember. I
- 30:34Speaker 2: believe so I this feels earlier than last time, which
- 30:38Speaker 2: is great. Like if I'm if I'm those guys, I
- 30:41Speaker 2: want my ring, Man, I want.
- 30:42Speaker 1: To show it off on vacation.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I want that thing now, Man, I want that ring.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Let's go, let's see what it looks like. And I
- 30:48Speaker 2: mean it'll be fun. I'm sure once we see all
- 30:50Speaker 2: the pictures of what it looks like. I know when
- 30:51Speaker 2: when you know the first time around, Paul Allen spared
- 30:54Speaker 2: no expense. That he's bared no expense. That's true, you know,
- 31:00Speaker 2: so I.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Don't expect Jody Allen or the trust and skimp on
- 31:04Speaker 1: the ring.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Well, no, they got they can spend that money like
- 31:06Speaker 2: they want right now. That's true that somebody else's pumped
- 31:10Speaker 2: down the road and there's no salary cap on ring
- 31:13Speaker 2: CAUs that's cool. They're getting them tomorrow and and uh,
- 31:16Speaker 2: I mean it's just a it's have you and what
- 31:20Speaker 2: talk maybe more Morgan about this. Like yesterday with all
- 31:23Speaker 2: the NFL films, all the corporate sponsors, Mini camp has
- 31:27Speaker 2: had a different feel.
- 31:29Speaker 1: This is not the Southeast Alaska team.
- 31:32Speaker 2: This is a national weal welcome back to being relevant
- 31:35Speaker 2: in the NFL. Like you're the center of attention. Everything
- 31:38Speaker 2: that even in the NFL networks here today.
- 31:40Speaker 1: I think that's Steve which is here.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I don't even know. Is the NFL networks still whatever
- 31:43Speaker 2: they call it that. I don't get it on pomcast
- 31:46Speaker 2: right now, do you?
- 31:46Speaker 1: You don't know it's ESPN.
- 31:48Speaker 2: It's blacked out. Yeah, they have their little carriage dispute.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I talked to Parharmology and Steve Whitch about this and
- 31:53Speaker 1: other people. But Steve was telling us that there's still
- 31:56Speaker 1: NFL employee and network employees technically, but then the work
- 32:00Speaker 1: is aired on ESPN.
- 32:01Speaker 2: That's yeah, the Devil Network still exists, Yeah, just not
- 32:04Speaker 2: for us to have contract.
- 32:06Speaker 1: But we still get CBC Sports Night.
- 32:08Speaker 2: O't tak oh buddy?
- 32:09Speaker 1: Yeah last night that was cool. And Brandon Bussy's parents
- 32:12Speaker 1: that Kyle Coskas interviewed Bussy after the game. If you
- 32:15Speaker 1: saw that, we played the audio of it.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome. That's really cool. We're going at least
- 32:20Speaker 2: six in this series.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah.
- 32:21Speaker 5: I only he didn't play for L cheap.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Uh, it's just L cheap. Oh god, that guy. Well
- 32:26Speaker 2: you look at the contract Bussy signed, it's pretty cheap.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Like it's the most team friendly, potential starting goalie contract
- 32:32Speaker 2: you could ever have.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Well, he's a rookie you'd never started.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Before, but sent a record fastest guy to twenty wins
- 32:37Speaker 2: all that stuff. So yeah, yeah, no, it's uh.

- 32:53Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Notes, Mom, come on, I thought that was an interesting
- 33:00Speaker 1: little tip.
- 33:00Speaker 2: It now it is. I mean it's it's kind of amazing.
- 33:03Speaker 1: No, it's totally amazing.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Cause there's a lot of guys that won a Cup
- 33:05Speaker 2: that have that. You know, we're undrafted, and that's the
- 33:07Speaker 2: way hockey words. You become an accidental star by just
- 33:10Speaker 2: coming in and goals. Goalays kind of developed later, you know, Buss,
- 33:15Speaker 2: he's in his twenty seven, twenty seven. You know, we
- 33:17Speaker 2: look at Joey to Court like he didn't come into
- 33:19Speaker 2: his own tell he's what twenty five twenty six? That's true, right,
- 33:21Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean goalies developed a little bit later sometimes,
- 33:23Speaker 2: So busy show coming up today. We got to Stuart
- 33:25Speaker 2: Mandel's gonna join us. Who joins us every week during
- 33:27Speaker 2: the football season, Yeah, said, so we got Buggett nothing
