- Lucas: Hei Luna, ready for another episode? Luna: Yes! I've been practicing from last week. Jeg vil gjerne ha melk. How was that? Lucas: Perfect, Luna. You're really getting the hang of grocery shopping. Today we're going to learn a verb you'll use every single day. Luna: Oh, I love new verbs. What is it? Lucas: It's 'å gå'. It means 'to walk' or 'to go'. It's one of the most common verbs in Norwegian. Luna: Å gå. Okay. So it's like 'to go'? Lucas: Exactly. For example, 'Jeg går til jobben' — 'I walk to work' or 'I go to work'. Listen: Jeg går til jobben. Luna: Jeg går til jobben. That's nice. I walk to work... Jeg går til jobben. Lucas: Great! Now, if you want to ask someone where they're going, you say 'Hvor går du?' — 'Where are you going?' Luna: Hvor går du? Hmm. Hvor går du? Lucas: Perfect. Let's try a little scene. Imagine you're leaving the grocery store and you bump into a friend. They ask: 'Hvor går du?' You could answer: 'Jeg går hjem' — 'I'm going home.' Luna: Jeg går hjem. That's simple. So if I'm at the store and I meet you, I say: 'Hvor går du?' And you say: 'Jeg går hjem.' I love it. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's add one more. 'Vi går på kino' — 'We are going to the cinema.' Luna: Vi går på kino. That sounds fun! Vi går på kino. So 'går' works for everyone? Lucas: Yeah. In present tense, 'går' is the same for all subjects. Jeg går, du går, han går, vi går — it's very easy. Luna: Oh, that's so good. No complicated endings. Lucas: Right. Now, if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Norwegian, maybe you'd like to support the show. We keep it ad-free, and listener support at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo really helps. Luna: Yeah, it's a small way to say thanks, and it keeps the episodes coming. Lucas: So back to 'å gå'. Let's do a quick practice. I'll say the English, you try the Norwegian. 'I walk to work.' Luna: Jeg går til jobben. Lucas: 'Where are you going?' Luna: Hvor går du? Lucas: 'We're going to the cinema.' Luna: Vi går på kino. Lucas: Perfect! Now, can you say 'I'm going home'? Luna: Jeg går hjem. Lucas: Excellent. Let's do one more round. Repeat after me: Jeg går til jobben. Luna: Jeg går til jobben. Lucas: Hvor går du? Luna: Hvor går du? Lucas: Jeg går hjem. Luna: Jeg går hjem. Lucas: Vi går på kino. Luna: Vi går på kino. Lucas: You're doing so well. Now, imagine you're out with a friend and you want to suggest going to the cinema. You could say: Skal vi gå på kino? But that's for another episode. Luna: Oh, teasing us with future content. I like it. Lucas: Alright, let's wrap up. Today we learned 'å gå' — to walk or go. Practice saying: Jeg går til jobben, Hvor går du?, Jeg går hjem, and Vi går på kino. Use them today! Luna: Takk, Lucas. See you next time! Lucas: Ha det bra, Luna. Keep practicing!
