Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: You would have heard the news by now that Dolly
- 0:04Speaker 2: Parton has sadly passed away overnight at 80 years old.
- 0:08Speaker 2: The news broke at about four o'clock this morning. Her nephew,
- 0:11Speaker 2: who was also the head of a security team, Brian Seaver,
- 0:14Speaker 2: he revealed the news on his Instagram this morning.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Take a listen to what he said.
- 0:18Speaker 4: Hey, everyone. My name is Brian Seaver, son of Cassie Parton,
- 0:22Speaker 4: and I'm representing the Parton and Owens family today, announcing
- 0:26Speaker 4: the passing of my Aunt Dolly, Rebecca Parton-Dean. sister, sis,
- 0:30Speaker 4: aunt granny to one generation and Gigi to the next.
- 0:33Speaker 4: This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years
- 0:36Speaker 4: ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.
- 0:39Speaker 4: As her head of security for more than two decades,
- 0:41Speaker 4: a role my father Larry held before me, I have
- 0:44Speaker 4: imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven't truly felt
- 0:46Speaker 4: it until now.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so she asked him to do the announcement.
- 0:50Speaker 2: To be the one that made the announcement. Now, she
- 0:52Speaker 2: had a huge career. She was a country music icon.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Her career spanned over 60 years. She sold 100 million
- 0:59Speaker 2: records worldwide, won 11 Grammy Awards, and obviously was famous
- 1:04Speaker 2: for songs like 9 to 5, which we played this morning.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Jolene was another huge one.
- 1:08Speaker 2: But she also wrote and sung the original version of
- 1:11Speaker 2: I Will Always Love You before Whitney Houston, which a
- 1:13Speaker 2: lot of people don't realise.
- 1:14Speaker 1: No, and now I'm thinking about it. In the movie
- 1:16Speaker 1: The Bodyguard, you've seen The Bodyguard?
- 1:18Speaker 3: I actually haven't, no.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Good movie, you'd like it.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21Speaker 1: There's a scene where they're in like a country bar.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And the dolly.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Version is playing. And then it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Famously plays right at the end of the movie. The
- 1:31Speaker 1: Whitney version.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Right, let's hear the dolly version.
- 1:32Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Very different sounding, but beautiful. She had a great voice.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 6: I mean, is it bad of me to say on
- 1:51Speaker 6: this day that the Whitney version's better?
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah. But without Dolly..
- 1:59Speaker 1: No, it wouldn't have happened.
- 2:00Speaker 3: There was no Whitney version.
- 2:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:05Speaker 3: All right, let's get back to Dolly here.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Prior to her passing, Dolly had shared that she was
- 2:10Speaker 2: dealing with some ongoing health issues that she'd basically just
- 2:13Speaker 2: neglected because she was caring for her late husband, Carl Dean,
- 2:15Speaker 2: who passed away in March of last year. But then
- 2:19Speaker 2: in an interview just nine months ago, Dolly was saying,
- 2:21Speaker 2: even though she's 80 years old, she still felt young
- 2:24Speaker 2: at heart.
- 2:24Speaker 3: So let's have a little listen to that.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Everybody said, well, you're 80 years old. You're going to
- 2:28Speaker 5: be 80 years old. I said, well, so what?
- 2:30Speaker 3: Look at all I've.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Done in 80 years. I just feel like I'm just
- 2:33Speaker 5: getting started. I know That sounds stupid, but I think
- 2:36Speaker 5: there's a lot to be said about age. If you
- 2:40Speaker 5: allow yourself to get old, you will. And people say, well,
- 2:44Speaker 5: how come you don't seem to get old? I say,
- 2:45Speaker 5: because I ain't got time to get old. I ain't
- 2:48Speaker 5: got time to dwell on that. That's not what I'm
- 2:50Speaker 5: thinking about.
- 2:51Speaker 1: It's true, isn't it? There's a lot of old people
- 2:53Speaker 1: you know that just sort of become old people.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 6: And that can even happen to like a bloody 50-year-old.
- 2:57Speaker 1: We know people like that. Or you can be old
- 3:00Speaker 1: and still active.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Old's a state of mind as well as a physical being.
- 3:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 1: What a life she lived, though, eh?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, absolutely. Achieved so much. Now, we don't know
- 3:08Speaker 2: her official cause of death yet. When we do, we'll
- 3:10Speaker 2: report it, obviously. But in the days leading up to
- 3:12Speaker 2: her passing, people had reported death. that she was saying
- 3:15Speaker 2: her immune and digestive systems were out of whack and
- 3:18Speaker 2: stuff like that.
- 3:19Speaker 3: So we'll keep you updated on that one.
- 3:21Speaker 6: The other one you've got to watch, 9 to 5.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Have you seen that movie? I reckon that'll go around now.
- 3:24Speaker 6: A lot of people will be watching it today. So
- 3:26Speaker 6: the movie was called 9 to 5, and she starred
- 3:29Speaker 6: in it. And that's where the song comes from. And
- 3:31Speaker 6: it's all about chicks that like it. It's about a
- 3:34Speaker 6: bunch of women that are working in an office, and
- 3:36Speaker 6: the male boss is horrible.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It's very dated. Like, it's very... Have you seen it, Sean?
- 3:41Speaker 3: No, haven't I?
- 3:41Speaker 1: You've got to see it. You'll like it. It's well done.
- 3:44Speaker 1: So she could act as well, yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Who knew you were such a Dolly fan?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's weird.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Stan, if anything.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I wouldn't go that far.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Now, I need to talk about as well this AFL scandal.
- 3:53Speaker 2: You probably heard earlier this year, Jules Neal was cheated
- 3:57Speaker 2: on by her husband, Lockie Neal, who plays for the
- 3:59Speaker 2: Brisbane Lions.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 2: So basically after this came to light, he stepped down
- 4:04Speaker 2: as the captain of the Lions as well because it
- 4:06Speaker 2: was so big in the AFL world.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Right.
- 4:09Speaker 2: And now Jules, the wife, has finally broken her silence. Now,
- 4:13Speaker 2: I don't know if I've mentioned already, but he cheated
- 4:15Speaker 2: on her with her best friend, Tess, who was also married,
- 4:18Speaker 2: by the way, not to an AFL player.
- 4:20Speaker 1: We've got a blonde and a brunette.
- 4:21Speaker 2: So the blonde is his wife or was his wife.
- 4:24Speaker 2: They've since split. The brunette is the other woman, Tess.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And the photo on the right that you're seeing is
- 4:30Speaker 2: Lockie in the AFL outfit and then the husband in
- 4:34Speaker 2: the middle.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Gotcha.
- 4:35Speaker 1: God, he's caused a firestorm there.
- 4:36Speaker 2: So, yeah, they were all friends in this friendship group together.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Not anymore. They were doing the dirty. So it was
- 4:43Speaker 3: revealed a few days ago that.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Jules would be appearing on a Tell All podcast.
- 4:47Speaker 3: That podcast has come out today.
- 4:49Speaker 2: So Jules, the wife, has said now that this wasn't
- 4:53Speaker 2: the first time he'd cheated on her.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Take a listen.
- 4:56Speaker 4: I had found out that he had cheated on me before.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Okay.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I got one of those awful, like, hey, girly DMs
- 5:02Speaker 2: with receipts and all sorts of things.
- 5:04Speaker 1: The ones that make your heart sink down to your ass? Awful.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 2: The worst day of my life. Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Didn't leave bed for four days. I fully believe it.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Before that would have bet my life that he would
- 5:13Speaker 2: have never done that to me ever.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I was reassured that that was a one-off thing.
- 5:18Speaker 3: It would never happen again. Biggest mistake of its life.
- 5:22Speaker 2: We already had my daughter together, so I decided to stay. Yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 2: and now Tess, the other woman, is hitting back in
- 5:31Speaker 2: a bit of a tit-for-tat thing, and she's dropping her
- 5:33Speaker 2: own podcast interview tomorrow where she's going to tell her
- 5:36Speaker 2: side of the story.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Oh, we'll have to hear that. Hey, that text message
- 5:40Speaker 1: she got.
- 5:40Speaker 3: The hey, girly one.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Hey, girl, I've been seeing your man. Have you ever
- 5:43Speaker 1: received one like that?
- 5:46Speaker 2: You know, way back in the day, I'd been told
- 5:48Speaker 2: that a partner at the time had been cheating on me.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Do you believe it when you get it or do
- 5:52Speaker 1: you always go, oh, she's lying?
- 5:53Speaker 2: Your heart sinks immediately and then I think if you're
- 5:56Speaker 2: not an idiot, you believe it. But then it's like
- 5:58Speaker 2: I was just thinking as I was listening to her
- 6:00Speaker 2: talk because she said that she's got a daughter with him, right?
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you do?
- 6:03Speaker 2: And then I just thought I'm pregnant, as we now know,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and if I found out my partner was cheating on
- 6:08Speaker 2: me six months ago, it would be a completely different
- 6:10Speaker 2: story to finding out your partner's cheating on you when
- 6:12Speaker 2: you also have a child. So I can understand how
- 6:14Speaker 2: someone like her would think, He said, I'm sorry. He
- 6:16Speaker 2: said it's the worst mistake he's ever made in his life.
- 6:19Speaker 2: And we've got a daughter together. Do we let everything
- 6:21Speaker 2: crumble over one mistake? But clearly it's a pattern of
- 6:24Speaker 2: behaviour here.
- 6:25Speaker 1: But you'd stay with.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Him now, right?
- 6:28Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 6:29Speaker 1: You're pregnant. I'll just text Nat, hey, girl.
- 6:33Speaker 3: No, you know what?
- 6:34Speaker 2: It's hard to say because also, particularly, you know... You
- 6:39Speaker 2: don't want to show your child that that kind of
- 6:40Speaker 2: behaviour is okay as well.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Like, you almost need to show your child, like, lead by.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Example and say you can't let people..
- 6:47Speaker 1: You're engaged.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I know, and it's really hard to say, but I
- 6:49Speaker 2: just like to think that that's never going to be
- 6:51Speaker 2: an option.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Nah, he's too busy.
- 6:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I love that excuse when people get caught cheating too.
- 6:56Speaker 1: How can I? I'm too busy.
- 6:58Speaker 3: When would I find the time? Oh, I'm sure you'd
- 7:00Speaker 3: be able to.
- 7:01Speaker 1: But it takes a few minutes. In your case, one. Yeah,
- 7:04Speaker 1: not even, mate. Jesus, one minute. That'd be me excelling.
- 7:09Speaker 1: What are we doing here?
