- 0:00Lose their star player, they lose their star closer.
- 0:04That's are in a bad spot right now.
- 0:11I've never seen a Ranger team quick before the Olympics.
- 0:14We're going to be looking at Aaron Judge and saying that you
- 0:16can't win the big game, Michael Jordan said.
- 0:19I played 82 games. You don't see the fun doing
- 0:22that, but Jack Hughes did after getting his teeth knocked down
- 0:25to play every single shift he got back in the game.
- 1:28Hello, you're listening to the New York sports Loudmouth 63.
- 1:361672 31 O 8 is the number to call.
- 1:43You're listening to a new episode in a new show of the New
- 1:48York's sports loudmouth. My name is Errol Marx.
- 1:51They call me the mouth. My Co host, he's wearing glasses
- 1:55today. A blue Yankees hat.
- 1:57Come on, talk to me. And this is a documentary of
- 2:00craziness. I don't know if he's a
- 2:03distinguished gentleman. I don't know what he calls
- 2:05himself. Maybe.
- 2:06He's a wannabe. A wannabe Mr. Quinton Couples
- 2:14and my other Co host, the producer and the craziness and I
- 2:19will get into it a little bit later in the show.
- 2:21Mr. Speedy PD, executive producer, Mr. Aaron Fishman, as
- 2:26you just heard him on the back end, Mr. Nitin Ramatandra, he's
- 2:30back there. I'm trying to get this.
- 2:32I'm trying to get the last name right.

- 2:53And I will say this for all the fans out there, I enjoyed my
- 2:58wonderful birthday celebration. But I will say this for all the
- 3:04people out there, don't try anything that you've never
- 3:08tried. I will say that because when you
- 3:11do something like that at a party, it pushes you into places
- 3:16of throwing up, taking a dump, and hiding in the bathroom.
- 3:21So ladies and gentlemen, that's what I dealt with with Speedy PD
- 3:26on Saturday nights. Yes, ladies and gentlemen,
- 3:29ladies and gentlemen, we had fun.
- 3:31Speedy enjoyed the food. Well, did he?
- 3:33I don't know if he ate because he was burning from his stomach
- 3:36to his ass. And then he ran to the bathroom.
- 3:38And let me tell you, it was something of a documentary story
- 3:43that I can never forget because anybody that knows me and tells
- 3:47a story about Speedy's birthday, he's either throwing up where
- 3:50he's hiding in the bathroom. And that, ladies and gentlemen,
- 3:53is what he did on my birthday. We had to rush him to the hotel
- 3:58room because he was hallucinating or whatever he was
- 4:02doing. He was drinking, trying to get
- 4:03some water, some ginger ale. I don't know what was burning in
- 4:06his throat. Hopefully was GERD and not
- 4:09something else, if you know what I mean.
- 4:10But I will say this, when you go out to a party and you enjoy
- 4:14yourself and I'm not going to, there's a lot to get into.
- 4:17By the way, I'm, I'm hanging out in the bathroom with fish.
- 4:21We're we're hanging out waiting for Speedy to get out of the
- 4:23toilet and somebody comes in or he's washing his hands and he
- 4:27tells us what's going on. And I said, he's not feeling
- 4:30very good. He's throwing up, he's taking
- 4:32dumps, he's doing all this other stuff.
- 4:33And he tells me, take him to a strip bar, take him to a strip
- 4:37bar, he'll enjoy it. Take him to a strip bar, he'll
- 4:40feel so much better. I'm looking at him then I'm
- 4:42looking at fish. And I'm like, what?
- 4:44I'm going to take him to a strip bar after he's sick?
- 4:47How does that make any sense? The kids throwing up all over
- 4:50the place. And he's, he's sitting on a
- 4:54toilet with his legs up. Like, it was like, what was that
- 4:57movie Dumb and Dumber? Remember that?
- 4:59I mean, that that was what Speedy was doing.
- 5:02And this guy just says, take him to a strip bar.
- 5:04You'll feel really good. He walks right out.
- 5:06He's laughing, giggling. Yeah, it's real funny.
- 5:09But nevertheless, it was fun. After that.
- 5:12I don't want to give a shout out to Fish and his wife.
- 5:14They took him, took him and my girlfriend back to the hotel
- 5:19room. Brittany wasn't feeling very
- 5:20good either. And then we we had a little
- 5:23sight for sore eyes. We we enjoyed ourselves in
- 5:27different places of Mohegan Sun. It was fun.
- 5:30I wish it could have been better.
- 5:32I didn't want anybody to get sick.
- 5:33But it seems like when you take Speedy out to the open layer of
- 5:38life, something's going to happen.
- 5:41And it did. And I I see nothing dancing.
- 5:43I don't know what he's doing there.
- 5:45There's something going on in this guy's brain.
- 5:47Yeah, there it is. Talk to me.
- 5:50The so-called fly. Guy hey, that's kind of hey,
- 5:53shout out the fish. That's that's kind.
- 5:57Of you wearing glasses, could you tell me why you're wearing
- 5:59glasses? Why are you wearing glasses?
- 6:02It's just, it's just so bright in here.
- 6:04Yeah, that's what it is. My defense, I barely what I got,
- 6:08what I got. Bring it to the table tonight.
- 6:10It's just going to be too bright.
- 6:11I barely see your head. I see half of your neck and I
- 6:15see a guy with the Yankees hat glasses.
- 6:19Yeah, shout out to the Yankees, man.
- 6:21I'm they're going to get things the better, you know, I'm the
- 6:23good luck charm so. Oh, you're the good luck.
- 6:26Charm. Wait a second, weren't you a Met
- 6:28fan? A couple.
- 6:29Of I'm a Met fan. I'm so where do you where do you
- 6:32become a lucky charm? Because when I put my takes and
- 6:37when I put. When you put your takes, you
- 6:39scare people. Away I put my takes and my
- 6:41confidence behind teams. They win, you know, that's
- 6:44really yeah. Because before, before, hold on,
- 6:48hold on a couple of games, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold.
- 6:51On They beat the Yankees, by the way.
- 6:52The week before the Knicks were going into the Cavaliers series,
- 6:56you had the Cavaliers winning in six.
- 6:58I did. It Yes, you did yes, you did.
- 7:00I went back, just so you know, I went back.
- 7:02You had. To.
- 7:04You had the Cavaliers. You did.
- 7:07I went back, buddy. I went back.
- 7:09You may have said I said they can.
- 7:11Oh, you had the Cavaliers. Winning in six, but I had the
- 7:14Knicks coming out this season. That's not what you said.
- 7:16Out of this. You're taking back what you
- 7:17said. No, I don't.
- 7:19I don't. I got them getting swept.
- 7:22No, all right. You could put that, you could
- 7:24put that. I know that for sure, but I'm
- 7:26just saying. Yeah, out of your mind if you
- 7:28think they're. Getting I've stated numerous
- 7:30times on the show that the knits were coming out of this.
- 7:31Season, ladies and gentlemen. I said Cleveland was a problem
- 7:34like they would. They would have been an issue to
- 7:36deal with, but I don't have, I don't have the, I didn't have
- 7:40the winning. Guys, liar, absolute lies coming
- 7:43out of Quinton couples mouth. He's a liar, ladies and
- 7:46gentlemen, I'm just speaking the truth.
- 7:48I tell the truth on this show and he is lying.
- 7:52He is lying. You don't like that when I
- 7:55challenge you, you'll go to. Oh, I can't wait till you
- 7:58challenge me. To do stuff like that, you'll
- 8:00go. To.
- 8:00I can't wait. Don't believe coaching is
- 8:03necessary. I can't prove that coaching is
- 8:06necessary about a lot of stuff. Oh, I'm not lying about
- 8:09anything. I'm telling the truth.
- 8:10You add the Cavaliers winning in six, and then you changed your
- 8:13mind after game one. We could clip it and bring.
- 8:15It in, I'm going to clip it. I'm going to send it to you, I
- 8:17want to say. Wrong.
- 8:18Send it to the fans. I don't have to send it to
- 8:21anybody, they all know. I'm telling the fans see it
- 8:23because they heard me say it numerous times, Yeah, that the
- 8:25news was coming out. After the fact.
- 8:27That the Cavs was a more scarier team, that child.
- 8:30No, you didn't. You didn't say that.
- 8:32You said the Cavaliers were going to win in six.
- 8:34And I know what you said, and I will bring it back to you, I
- 8:37promise you. Spurs and Thunder are tied to
- 8:40two entering Game 5 tonight in Oklahoma City.
- 8:43The Thunder won Game 3 led by 76 points.
- 8:47I'm several 6 points from their bench, which is the highest
- 8:50total in the conference finals or finals game since 1971.
- 8:56The this bench scoring spree was led by Jarrett McCain scoring 24
- 9:00points, Jalen Williams scoring 17, Alex Caruso scoring 15, and
- 9:06Cason Wallace scoring 11. SGA had 26 points and 12 assists
- 9:11and shot 12 for 12 from the free throw line in game three.
- 9:15The Spurs bounced back in game 4, led by 33 points, 8 rebounds,
- 9:205 assists, 2 steals and three blocks from Wembe.
- 9:24The Spurs defense was phenomenal, holding Chat
- 9:27Holmgren to just 10 points and 348 shooting and holding SGA to
- 9:33just 19 points on 6 foot 15 shooting.
- 9:37Dylan Harper, Stephen I'm Sorry, Stephen Castles, Devin Vessel,
- 9:44and Wemby all rating, I'm Sorry all had a rating of plus 20 or
- 9:50higher, while Chat Holmgren was the only Thunder starter with a
- 9:55positive rate at just +2. You watch this series against
- 10:00Wembe and SGA. If you watch the fourth quarters
- 10:05and I watch every single game, every single minute, every
- 10:08single second of every single game and you understand the game
- 10:11of basketball. It's not because of the schemes
- 10:15that wins these games in the fourth quarter.
- 10:18It's because of their best player.
- 10:19It's the guy that's going to take over the game and put it on
- 10:22his shoulders. And that's what we have seen in.
- 10:25That's why this series is 2 to 2 and we'll see what happens
- 10:27tonight. Who's going to play better in
- 10:29the fourth quarter? Is it Wemby who's going to take
- 10:31over and put it on his shoulders or is it going to be SGA?
- 10:34It's when you look at the players that they have, there
- 10:36are great players that you have Caruso, who's played very well.
- 10:39He's a, he's a second round draft pick.
- 10:42He's a guy that was given up by many teams.
- 10:45This guy was a journeyman. He was a journeyman and he's
- 10:48become a good player with OKC because he fits what OKC is
- 10:53running offensively and defensively.
- 10:55He plays a style of defense that OKC needed and it's changed
- 10:59everything for the Thunder in the last two seasons.
- 11:02And then there's Jalen Williams, who is a great number two option
- 11:06offensively. But is he going to stay healthy?
- 11:08Is he going to play at a high level?
- 11:10And I, again, he's a guy that to me is not a #2.
- 11:13He's more of a #3 on any other roster.
- 11:16The way I look at it is if you can keep SGA to under 30 points,
- 11:23you got a chance to win. You got a chance to win every
- 11:26single time. And with Wembiama, Wembiama and
- 11:30what he does, Wembi is a sensational player.
- 11:33He can dribble, he can be the point center, he can do all
- 11:36those things, rebound at a high level.
- 11:38He's 7 foot, 5 wingspan, barely, doesn't have to jump and all
- 11:41that other stuff. He's a great shooter.
- 11:42He's a great everything. He does everything great on a
- 11:45basketball court. He can steal, he can block.
- 11:49He averages what, three blocks a game?
- 11:50He won Defensive player of the year, could have won the MVP
- 11:53this year. He is a national 21 year old
- 11:56player that as long as he stays healthy and the blood clots
- 11:59don't come back, this guy is going to be the Nbas version of
- 12:04Tim Duncan or Shaquille O'Neal, a dominant force for many, many
- 12:09years to come. I look at what this series is
- 12:12bringing. I expect this series to go to
- 12:14seven games because I don't think one of these players are
- 12:18going to quit. They're going to go and they're
- 12:19going to go hard. And it's really going to come
- 12:21down to who wants it more in game seven, who is going to lead
- 12:25their team all the way. And, and I'll tell you, this is
- 12:28good for the Knicks. As much as everybody wants to
- 12:30say it's not good that this goes 8 days, it goes to a Game 7 or
- 12:34however long it goes and the Knicks are waiting.
- 12:36This is good for the Knicks because as good as these teams
- 12:40are, they're fighting injury right now.
- 12:41Dylan Harper is not healthy. He's playing Fox.
- 12:46Deron Fox is not healthy. He's playing with bad ankles.
- 12:50If you look at all these players, every single player,
- 12:52Castle's not 100% healthy. Jalen Williams is not 100%
- 12:56healthy. They're they're not healthy.
- 12:58Both teams are not healthy. And as long as this series goes,
- 13:02no matter how good these teams are on paper, I think the Knicks
- 13:07have the advantage. Now, when you look at what the
- 13:09sports books are saying and and how good these teams are,
- 13:14there's no question throughout the season, these were the
- 13:16better teams. I don't think you can argue
- 13:18that. What OK C OK C did all season
- 13:21long, SGA winning the MVP, which I disagree that he won the MVP.
- 13:24That's my opinion. I've I've gave my take on it,
- 13:28but he is the MVP of the league and what they've done as a team
- 13:32all season long. Chet Holmgren was runner up for
- 13:35defensive player of the year. I disagree, but he had a great
- 13:37season, good blocker, but he's not the problem right now with
- 13:41OK C is Chet Holmgren is not playing well in this series.
- 13:46He's not. He's not playing at a high level
- 13:49and you can see it. If you're getting 10 points, 348
- 13:53shooting in a in a game from Chet Holmgren, you need 1920
- 13:57points from Chet Holmgren. He is going to be your second
- 13:59option. He is, to me, your second option
- 14:02over Jalen Williams. And if you're not getting that
- 14:05from him, you're not beating the Spurs.
- 14:08And I'm going to tell you this, the reason why this series is
- 14:10close is because it's Chet Holmgren.
- 14:12He is not playing at a high level.
- 14:13I don't know if he's hurt. I don't know what's going on.
- 14:16He looks like a deer in a headlights.
- 14:18After the game. He speaks to the media, his
- 14:20heads down. They're asking him questions.
- 14:22He can't answer the questions at a high clip and you can see that
- 14:25he is frustrated. And maybe it's webbing Yama.
- 14:28Maybe these guys have been playing against each other for
- 14:31years since they were in high school.
- 14:33They know each other so very well.
- 14:35We know webbing Yama doesn't like him and check, even though
- 14:37the media is trying to get more out of him.
- 14:40And when it comes to speaking about webbing Yami, he he will
- 14:43not bite. He will not take the bait.
- 14:45But the fact here is the reason why OK C hasn't ended the Spurs
- 14:50is because it's Chet Holmgren. Because SGA as much as we've
- 14:55watched the games that they've won and webbing Yama and and the
- 14:58Spurs have won, SGA is not playing at a high level.
- 15:01He's just not. And when they are winning, SGA
- 15:04is playing at a high level. So to me, when I watch these two
- 15:07play 2 teams play it, it's not. And I, I love both coaches.
- 15:11I'm not going to say that the the Spurs and OKC don't have two
- 15:16very good young coaches in the NBA.
- 15:19They're good. But when I watch the NBA over
- 15:22the years and I look at talent, it's not like it was in the 90s.
- 15:28Phil Jackson, he ran the triangle offense.
- 15:31We've said this right now, I'm not going to go in and out of
- 15:33this. Michael Jordan fit the triangle
- 15:35offense. So did Dennis Rodman, and so did
- 15:38Scottie Pippen, and before that, Horace Grant.
- 15:40They all fit the triangle offense, but you need the player
- 15:43that can close. Remember when Michael Jordan
- 15:46closed on the the Cavaliers in game #1 when the Cavaliers were
- 15:51winning, who hit that shot? Who hit that game-winning shot?
- 15:54Michael Jordan, you need stars to take over game webbing.
- 15:57Yama, he hit that half court 3 pointer in this in the second
- 16:01quarter, which ended the half and he nailed it.
- 16:05He switched it. When you have players that can
- 16:07do things like that that are there, it is right now shooting
- 16:10that fish is pointed out right here.
- 16:12That was, it's an unbelievable shout when you have players that
- 16:14can do that. Steph Curry.
- 16:16Everybody talks about how great Steph Curry was and how great
- 16:18Steph Curry is as a player. Steph Curry became a phenomenon
- 16:22because of the way he shot the ball, the way he shoots the ball
- 16:25at such a high clip at such a high level.
- 16:27If you have a guy that can do this rebound, barely jumps,
- 16:31donks, dominates you on the boards and whenever he wants,
- 16:35get 24 rebounds in a game like he did in game number one.
- 16:38It's almost impossible to be a player like this.
- 16:41And I'm going to say this. The only reason why I think the
- 16:44OK C Thunder is not playing and not possible.
- 16:47I I think the Spurs are winning the series.
- 16:49And the only reason why is Heinstein is not the answer.
- 16:52Chet Holmgren is not the answer. They have no Dort is not the
- 16:56answer. They don't have anybody that can
- 16:59stop this guy. And if this guy keeps playing at
- 17:02this and he plays what he did in game #4 it will go 7.
- 17:06But I don't care where it is. Is OK OKC, which it will be in
- 17:09OKC or in San Antonio. They don't have anybody that
- 17:13could stop them. They do have guys that can stop
- 17:16or even not stop them but keep them at a clip.
- 17:18SGA That's the difference in this series, ladies and
- 17:21gentlemen, and that's why I think the Spurs are going to
- 17:23win. I know a lot of experts think
- 17:24it's OK. CI don't think that I I think
- 17:28the Spurs are the better team because they have nobody to stop
- 17:31him. That's the reason why.
- 17:32Yeah, Chet Holmgren and definitely cannot play like this
- 17:34if the Knicks or if the if the Thunder want to win this series.
- 17:37Because he had a couple games like that last year in the NBA
- 17:40Finals against the Pacers and they fell behind in that series
- 17:42and it looked like they lost their confidence after the
- 17:44Pacers were up two to one. And then he stepped up big in
- 17:46Game 7. He was probably the best player
- 17:48in that Game 7 and Thunder end up winning the series.
- 17:50But if he has lows like he did in this game, it's going to be
- 17:52very hard. As good as the Thunder death has
- 17:54been, obviously the 76 points in Game 3 is historic.
- 17:56No team has ever done that in the since 1971.
- 18:00And they had four players scoring in double figures.
- 18:02That all could replace the the combined production with luge
- 18:06Dort struggling and then with Jalen Williams out of the game.
- 18:10And yeah, you have that, but you don't have anybody that's like a
- 18:12home grade besides Hartenstein. But Hartenstein, besides that
- 18:15first game, besides game two, I should say, hasn't looked great
- 18:18overall on offense. Defensively, he's been fine I
- 18:21guess, but he wasn't great in I wouldn't say he was great in
- 18:23Game 4, but I get it was mainly the Thunder offense.
- 18:26Like you said, they could beat SGA in a different thing.
- 18:28So he had 26 points. So he still shot well from the
- 18:30free throw line, but they made sure that he didn't shoot
- 18:32threes. They made sure that he still
- 18:34took some tough shots inside and that's a good game plan that the
- 18:37Spurs have defensively, even with the Aaron Fox not 100%
- 18:40healthy and obviously Dylan Harper not 100% healthy or two,
- 18:42two good defenders. And that's where I'll give like
- 18:46Johnny Reno was saying last week, Mitch Williams, their new
- 18:48coach, a little bit of credit. I'm not saying he's a great
- 18:50coach either. He's probably the most
- 18:52questionable the four teams remaining.
- 18:54But like he had a a game plan that out coached Dana, who won a
- 18:58championship last year with the back court play that they have.
- 19:01And they use their guard depth to their advantage very well,
- 19:03even with just being able to defend SGA and keep their focus
- 19:06on him and let Wendy do his thing on offense pretty much
- 19:09because the Spurs 103 points is not a great offensive showcase.
- 19:12But defensively, they were phenomenal in that game.
- 19:14If OKC can get the bench production they did in Game 3,
- 19:16they're still going to be tough because hunger and you would
- 19:19think will wake up at some point.
- 19:20But if he keeps having doves like this, yeah, the Spurs are
- 19:22definitely winning the series. Yeah, like like you said, I
- 19:26think Homer would definitely have a breakout game at one of
- 19:30these games. Obviously he's not been playing
- 19:32up to his caliber in regards to you know, him being a 2025 point
- 19:37guy at night, but I think SEA has, you know, will end up being
- 19:43defeating or end up defeating the Wimby in this in this series
- 19:46just because this team has experienced this team has been
- 19:49there and although San Antonio is very talented, I don't see
- 19:54them getting over that edge yet. Yes, Wimby is playing out of his
- 19:57mind. He's a great talent and he's,
- 19:59you know, what they call an idiot, and I do think the NBA is
- 20:02trying to push. For San Antonio to make it to
- 20:05the finals to play New York. But I do think that the bitch
- 20:09and the experience that OKC have will allow San Antonio to to win
- 20:15two of the next three games. And so, yeah, it's it's it's one
- 20:18of those things where, you know, you see win me as a great talent
- 20:21and you believe that he would be unstoppable.
- 20:24But I do think that if they could contain him anywhere
- 20:27between 20 to 25 points and not let him have that 3540.1315
- 20:33rebound game, I think that's enough to kind of kind of do
- 20:37whatever they have on offense from the San Antonio side.
- 20:40Because at the end of the day, everything flies through him.
- 20:43And if they could keep him out of the paint and make him be
- 20:45more of a jump shot, even though he can't hit the jump shot, I
- 20:48think they have a better shot at beating San Antonio.
- 20:52But I do think that the late adjustments that OKC make in, if
- 20:57you go back and look over the overtime, they make very good
- 20:59late adjustment and in the series.
- 21:02And once they do that with San Antonio, I think that they would
- 21:05come out on top and allow them to be victorious in the series
- 21:09and play New York in the finals. What's going to be key for them?
- 21:13I think for Amber, they may be able to stop Wemby is a lot of
- 21:15the a lot of the things they were forcing him to get inside
- 21:18in Game 2. Like the Thunder did a good job
- 21:20in Game 2 led by heart inside. But also a lot of their bench
- 21:22guys on defense and not letting him go in the paint that Errol
- 21:25talks about all the time with Giannis.
- 21:27Like you keep him out of the paint.
- 21:28Sometimes you can make him play a different game.
- 21:30Now Wemby shoots better than Honest did at this point in his
- 21:32career already in year 3, but you also look at it's not the
- 21:35main strength of his game and he's not the Super prolific
- 21:38passer like you see with a like a Giannis or somebody like that
- 21:41that is a ball handler of his size either.
- 21:43That has to be the game plan to be able to contain women because
- 21:46even though like when we will still get his, they'll struggle
- 21:48get his. He still had 21 points in that
- 21:49game and that game three. But like SGA in game game 4 of
- 21:5326 and making it tough. That's still going to be an
- 21:55issue for them that OKC has to figure out.
- 21:57When you look at both both teams, both those guys are going
- 21:59to get the ball, both of them are going to get their touches,
- 22:01both of them are going to get their opportunities to score.
- 22:04I think that Wemby is harder to defend.
- 22:07He you can, they haven't had anybody that could stop him.
- 22:10And I think Wemby in those games where he scored 21 points in the
- 22:13in in the third game, he was the reason why he had enough shots.
- 22:17He was shooting enough. He wasn't hitting the shots.
- 22:19He was off, especially in the second-half of the game.
- 22:22And it had nothing to do with defense.
- 22:23It had something to do with webbing.
- 22:25Yama, he was going up for layups.
- 22:26He was pretty much over there. It was like 5 feet away from the
- 22:29hoop 3 or 4 times and he was easy layups.
- 22:32If webbing. Yama is doing what he does best
- 22:35at a high level. As good as SGA is, he's great.
- 22:39They have players that can defend him, they can double team
- 22:42him, they can triple team him. At some point force the ball out
- 22:45of his hands. There's got to be other guys
- 22:46that are going to be able to take over the games.
- 22:48Caruso's been great, but are you going to depend on Crusoe all
- 22:52series long? I, I don't know if I can
- 22:54defense, yeah. Offense.
- 22:56I'm talking about offense, Caruso.
- 22:58Get 10 to 12 out of them. Yes, but Caruso scoring in
- 23:01certain games. He's scoring 2030.
- 23:03Points. That's what I'm saying.
- 23:04So that's plus that makes up for shit being disabled.
- 23:09But here's the thing on Game 4, when you look at Chet, Chet is
- 23:12the guy he is, he has to be the other guy.
- 23:15He's he's the guy that knows webbing Yama more than anybody.
- 23:18These guys have been playing against each other since they
- 23:20were 14 years old at such a high level. 1 went to Gonzaga, the
- 23:25other one who's over there playing pro basketball at the
- 23:27age of 16 in France. These guys know each other very,
- 23:30very well and Chet is the guy that everybody thought was going
- 23:33to. I was one of the guys.
- 23:34I picked him in that. What's that game that we play?
- 23:37Save your tears. Save your tears.
- 23:38I picked Chet because I thought Chet was going to play at a high
- 23:41clip in a high level. I was wrong because Chet has not
- 23:44shown up in the series. I don't know what's going on
- 23:46with Chet. I don't know.
- 23:48Maybe he is really hurt. Maybe he just doesn't play well.
- 23:51Again, Webiyama. If you look at his career
- 23:53against Webiyama, it hasn't been good.
- 23:55If you look at when they were kids in high school, who was
- 23:58winning those championship games?
- 23:59Who was winning in those World Championship games?
- 24:02It was webbing Yama. So maybe that's his poison.
- 24:05Maybe that's something that you have to look at when you're
- 24:08talking about Chet. Maybe Chet is not the guy.
- 24:10Maybe in the offseason or in the next two years, they'd think,
- 24:14hey, we could get a lot for Chet.
- 24:15Let's bring somebody in that can play the position at a higher
- 24:18level. So I'm just, I'm not saying here
- 24:20and saying that Chet Home Korean isn't good, and I'm not saying
- 24:23that Chen Holmgren wasn't a big part of why they won the
- 24:26championship last year. I'm saying that Webbing Yam is
- 24:29going to be here. He's 21 years old.
- 24:31He is going to be here for a long, long time.
- 24:34And if we're watching the future of the Western Conference Finals
- 24:38become the Spurs in the OK C Thunder, if you're an OK C fan,
- 24:43you'd have to worry because Webbing Yam is only going to get
- 24:46better. And Chet seems like he's getting
- 24:47worse against Webbing Yam. Yeah, he's going to need some
- 24:50help, I think. So you can't have him go
- 24:51one-on-one the whole time. I think.
- 24:53Heart Stein's obviously the big key if they get Jalen Williams.
- 24:55He's not going to be there next year.
- 24:56Yeah, I don't think Hearts I'll be back there next year either.
- 24:59I agree. Jalen Williams, if he does come
- 25:00back in this series, he's going to have to be the other one.
- 25:02Now he's 6 foot seven or something like that.
- 25:04It's not ideal circumstance, but they need somebody to help
- 25:07because Holmgren, well, he's a smart defender and he is quick
- 25:10for his size. I again, I do think that his
- 25:12more of his thin build is not a good match up with Wembe.
- 25:14He was all this length and all this all the same quickness,
- 25:17even better quickness than he does.
- 25:18And that's where I think that's cute, where you're talking about
- 25:21the coaching with what they know.
- 25:22They're going to have to adjust their normal defensive scheme,
- 25:24which is a really good scheme. It has been for a while, for the
- 25:26last three years, but they have to adjust to do some different.
- 25:29Things Michigan is the that kid Mahr who's going to be available
- 25:33in this year's draft. If I was OK see I would do
- 25:36anything I can. He's a top ten pick, I think.
- 25:39I don't know where they're draft 12.
- 25:40They're 12 in somewhere else. I think the 20 something they
- 25:43have two first round draft picks.
- 25:45If I were them, I would try to move up and get more if he's
- 25:48sitting there at 10 or 9 because he's the.
- 25:51Center the 73 Mara, I think Mara.
- 25:55Mara, whatever. It's Mara.
- 25:57Whatever. The day.
- 25:58Yes, I know who he is. I watched him play in the
- 26:01tournament. He was the best big man.
- 26:03He's probably the best big man in this in this draft.
- 26:06There are other teams going to be looking at him.
- 26:08I if I'm OK, C, that's the guy I'm going after because you're
- 26:12going to need help. They're going to need a lot of
- 26:14help with webbing. Yama, and he again, I've always
- 26:16said this about webbing Yama. Nobody's going to take away his
- 26:19talent, his ability and what he does on a basketball court.
- 26:22He's special. The one thing I would worry
- 26:24about is his health. These 7 foot five guys, Yao
- 26:28Ming, Now he's not as heavy as Yao Ming foot problems, he's got
- 26:31blood clot problems. He's had a couple of problems in
- 26:34his career so far. Early in his career, if he stays
- 26:37healthy for 10/12/13 years then we could start talking about
- 26:41like Draymond Green trying to compare him to the great.
- 26:44But until that happens, we have to see him stay healthy and play
- 26:47at a high level and win some championships, which he hasn't
- 26:49done yet. I think we in this prime when it
- 26:51comes to Whimby right now. Obviously you just mentioned
- 26:55guys that are like 73 and +727374.
- 27:00He's 75 S At the end of the day, it's it's only an amount of
- 27:04time. I hate to see it or I hate to
- 27:06say that I don't want to put nothing on him in regards to
- 27:09looking forward to him getting hurt.
- 27:11But it's just the, you know, the nature of the beast. 75 you
- 27:14playing at a high level, you playing deep into the playoffs
- 27:17is bound to happen. And so at the end of the day,
- 27:19nobody's going to be able to technically stop him.
- 27:22It's just more so a containing, like I said, if you could get
- 27:25him between 20 to 25 and 12 to 13 rebounds and force everybody
- 27:29else to fill in those gaps of that 20 point gap with him
- 27:33making 35 to 40 points on an average night, that's your best
- 27:36chance of beating them. But in regards if you just let
- 27:38him score 40 and getting 1520 rebounds, there's no answer for
- 27:42that. That's it's not enough points in
- 27:44the world that's going to cover that deficit that when he's
- 27:47going in and rebounding at that rate.
- 27:49I agree, and I think if you're a webbing Yama fan, I don't know
- 27:52if he's in the prime of his career.
- 27:54I don't know if he's playing past 30.
- 27:56Right. That's what I'm saying.
- 27:57So be you know, we see the best that we probably going to see.
- 28:00He's 21, so I think in the next three or four years, we're going
- 28:04to see him at such a high level and, and, and how special he
- 28:07really is, not only as a defensive player, but as an
- 28:09offensive option. Now if webbing Yama gets his
- 28:12game at a high, we've seen guys develop their game shooting and
- 28:16webbing Yama becomes a three-point shooter at 4748%,
- 28:19which he can, he really could and he doesn't have to go inside
- 28:23as much. You can use him as a deep threat
- 28:25and something of that magnitude where you can get 20 something
- 28:28points from a guy that can shoot the ball and pretty much can't
- 28:30be defended because he's 7 for five.
- 28:32Then you you have an optional player that can play longer, but
- 28:35the way he plays, any bangs, you see how he gets inside and he
- 28:39tries to dominate in the paint. That's a lot of torque on his
- 28:42knees. That's a lot of torque on his
- 28:44feet. I don't know if he's going to be
- 28:45the same player 10 years from now.
- 28:48And that to me with the Spurs. The optional thought right now
- 28:51is get the players around him to win as many championships,
- 28:55championships as you possibly can because he's not Tim Duncan.
- 28:58Tim Duncan was a six 10611 power forward that can play center
- 29:02multiple positions, great defender does everything right.
- 29:06This guy, he does everything right.
- 29:08But what worries me is his the way his he's built his legs.
- 29:12Everybody's going to say well, wait a second.
- 29:14Remember Mitchell Robinson when he came into the league, he was
- 29:16thin. Mitchell Robinson is only 7 foot
- 29:187 foot one. He's not 7 foot five.
- 29:20He doesn't have blood clot, blood clot problems and anybody
- 29:23that knows blood clots, for anybody that understands medical
- 29:26situations, if you have blood clots at this age, there's a 40
- 29:30to 50% chance between 40 and 50%, you're going to get it
- 29:33again. Chris Bosh ended his career
- 29:35early at 32 years old because of the blood clots.
- 29:38And and that's and and Chris Bosh was a pretty big dude.
- 29:42He was six 10611 big guy. He wasn't as big as Wembe, but
- 29:46he if you have it in your family and you have it, you're probably
- 29:50going to get again. That's what worries me about
- 29:51Webby. I'm not that the way he is and
- 29:54and how talented he is and to compare him to Kobe Bryant
- 29:56science or Michael Jordan or LeBron James or Kareem Abdul
- 30:00Jabbar, You can't compare him for all the fans out there that
- 30:03want to compare him to the greats.
- 30:04We got to see him do great things before you compare him to
- 30:06the greats. And then you got to be even
- 30:08greater to be considered great. That's what I'm.
- 30:12Errol, we talked about this I think the other day, you know,
- 30:15you, you should be comparing him to Yao Ming.
- 30:17You should the other 7 five guy that took the league by storm
- 30:20that came from another country. If he didn't have the foot
- 30:22injuries, who knows how good of a career that could have been.
- 30:25He's still a Hall of Famer anyway, probably because you
- 30:27know, just of how important he is to the game, especially
- 30:29overseas. I, I, I look as a Knicks fan, I,
- 30:33I just want to see them beat the crap out of each other the next
- 30:35three games. This game tips off any second
- 30:37right now and we know that already.
- 30:41The Thunder down Jalen Williams, who re aggravated the hamstring.
- 30:44That's a huge loss because he's the secondary ball creator, shot
- 30:47creator on that team. And AJ Mitchell, who's this
- 30:49super sub for them. He's also hurt and he didn't
- 30:53play the last game. He's got a calf strain.
- 30:55We've heard a lot about calf strains in the NBA playoffs in
- 30:58the last couple of years, and you know that Harper and Fox are
- 31:01both really banged up, you know, playing through it.
- 31:04But Harper has not looked good since he's been playing either.
- 31:07That's why there's a beneficial position that the Knicks are in
- 31:10because no matter what, Jalen Williams, if it's OK C or if
- 31:15it's the Spurs, you're going to have to they're going to have to
- 31:18deal with these injuries. The Knicks are 100% healthy and
- 31:21they have 8 or 9 days to rest whatever injuries they have and
- 31:25they're watching these teams beat up each other.
- 31:26So I know everybody's going to sit here and say, yes, if on
- 31:29paper you want to position yourself to say as the books are
- 31:33positioning OKC to be a -, 275 or whatever the numbers are, or
- 31:39the Spurs, if they beat the OKC, Thunder or -185 yeah, you're
- 31:44going to take those teams because of their dominance of
- 31:46what they did in the regular season.
- 31:47But the way the Knicks are playing right now, it doesn't
- 31:50matter who they're playing against.
- 31:52It's the way they're playing against them.
- 31:55That to me says a lot about this team.
- 31:57I don't know what the Knicks are going to be against these two
- 31:59teams. I don't really know.
- 32:00And I'm going to sit here and say that I'm only hoping that
- 32:03they're going to play at what they've been playing throughout
- 32:06the playoffs against the Cavaliers, against the Sixers
- 32:09and against the Hawks. But I will say this, OKC is
- 32:13watch what the Knicks were doing against the Cavaliers, and there
- 32:17is no answer to Jalen Brunson. They don't have an answer to him
- 32:21and they don't have an answer to some of the other players that
- 32:23the Knicks have. That's why.
- 32:24And and again, it's all about injuries, health.
- 32:27That's where. OK, See, last year, why did they
- 32:29win the championship? They were all healthy.
- 32:32They were as healthy as any team in the playoffs and they played
- 32:35healthy all season long. They're not healthy.
- 32:38Now, the Spurs are not healthy. So yeah, if you're going to sit
- 32:42here, and I'm not just because I'm a Knick fan, I'm just
- 32:44telling you, if I'm going to put two and two together and I'm
- 32:46going to say A-Team that's sitting out for eight games or I
- 32:49mean 8 days and is watching this and they're healthy at full
- 32:52strength and they got to play one of these teams.
- 32:54I'm going to take the Knicks. I'm going to take the healthier
- 32:57team and the more dominant team and the more I think together
- 33:00team right now they're playing together.
- 33:03And and that's to me I think is the problem with both of the
- 33:06Spurs and the OKC Thunder. That doesn't mean that they
- 33:08can't beat the Knicks. I think both teams could beat
- 33:10the Knicks and on any given day. You know, this phrase that we
- 33:13appearing in the sports media the last couple days was
- 33:15connected. The Knicks are very connected.
- 33:18It's like that old Phil Jackson saying about how he wanted the
- 33:20guys to play in the triangle where it's just Bing Bing Bing.
- 33:22That's because Jalen Brunson understands basketball at an
- 33:25incredibly high level. Couple of those guys been
- 33:26playing together since college. As you know, the Nova Knicks and
- 33:30talents has been incorporated and they let Townsby A
- 33:33distributor now and since he's so good offensively, it's a
- 33:36beautiful thing like this team. You can't even look at the
- 33:38anything from the regular season queue.
- 33:40You're right about it and not we'll get to our guests are
- 33:43starting to come in for our Knicks panel.
- 33:44You're absolutely right. The regular season don't mean
- 33:47nothing anymore. This Knicks team did not exist
- 33:49in the regular season. They're 10 deep and they have
- 33:52another week of rest for the second straight time.
- 33:55That's incredible. Yeah, but arrest coming out of
- 33:58arrest, you guys haven't done so well.
- 34:00But hey, I'd rather be rested than hurt.
- 34:02But look, before we end this segment, Tony Brothers is a
- 34:05referee tonight. I know you guys don't believe in
- 34:07it. Scott Foster was the referee
- 34:09last the gas gay, he's the extender Tony Brothers tonight.
- 34:12So I look forward to OKC winning this and we see y'all back in
- 34:16San Antonio. All right, my golf clap of the
- 34:20week. Deserves a golf clap, no?
- 34:24Doubt. Golf clap.
- 34:25Golf clap All right, my golf clap of the week goes to yeah,
- 34:30Florida. I don't know what the hell is
- 34:32going on with this. Now they have a Teddy
- 34:35Bridgewater Act, which I'm I'm trying to put two and two
- 34:38together. I don't get it.
- 34:39Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Teddy Bridgewater Act
- 34:43into law on Friday. The regulations allows state
- 34:47high school head coaches to spend up to $15,000 in personal
- 34:51funds annually on player expenses such as food,
- 34:55transportation and recovery services.
- 34:58Former NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater served as an
- 35:02inspiration for Laws after being suspended from coaching at Miami
- 35:07Northwestern. The Miami, FL native was cited
- 35:12for financing meals, transportation, transportation
- 35:15and recovery expenses for players last year.
- 35:20Well, actually two years ago. I, I will say this for all the
- 35:23fans out there sitting today and I'm wondering what Florida is
- 35:27doing and why they're doing it. It's because Daddy Bridgewater,
- 35:30yes, he's a multi millionaire. Yes, he was an accomplished
- 35:33quarterback in the NFL. If he wants to spend his own
- 35:36money to help students help kids with their finances when it
- 35:41comes to transportation, meals and recovery, it should be
- 35:44allowed. NIL deals are coming, people.
- 35:47Kids are making money. If this guy wants to dig into
- 35:49his pockets and help kids succeed, yeah, Then find a coach
- 35:53that actually has the same amount of money or find a coach
- 35:55that's willing to to go into his own pockets and help kids out.
- 35:59Where are schools out there? There are high schools.
- 36:01There are parents that have businesses and all that other
- 36:04stuff. If they want to help these
- 36:05students really achieve their goals, then open up your
- 36:09pockets. I think Teddy Bridgewater was
- 36:10attacked. I thought it was horrible the
- 36:12way the state of Florida treated him at the point.
- 36:15And now Ron DeSantis, the great governor over there in Florida,
- 36:19came out and says, you know what, if he wants to spend his
- 36:22own money up to $15,000, he should be allowed to.
- 36:25And it's just, it's sad because when Ted Bridgewater got another
- 36:28job in the NFL, he was attacked. He was attacked by the media.
- 36:32After he signed, who did he sign with as the backup quarterback?
- 36:35If I'm not mistaken, I think it was Alliance.
- 36:37It was alliance. I remember after he signed with
- 36:40the clients, after that whole thing, all the questions they
- 36:43were asking him was why did you do this and why did you do that
- 36:46and why did you spend $15,000? Are you paying these kids?
- 36:50Are you making sure that these kids are going to the schools
- 36:52that you want them to go? It just, it was, it was sad
