- 0:01SPEAKER_01: Hello and welcome back to the podcast.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: I'm Kyle.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: I'm Ryan.
- 0:05SPEAKER_02: I'm Mark.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: And uh that's it.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: Everybody else is uh sick.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: So it's just us guys and all our bots.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: Welcome.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the bots.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Alright, so uh we're gonna talk about the sermon here in a bit, but last night I did a thing.
- 0:22SPEAKER_01: I had a Bible study with Carver, my son, and 48 bite-sized bots on my grock bot.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: It was excellent.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: Is bite-sized just like a joking term or legitimate?
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: They're bites, they're bits and bites.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: So yeah, yeah.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: It's called the bite-sized Bible study.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: So we did John 1-1.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: It was awesome.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: I created a bot that's the Abbot, the Shepherd bot that shepherds all the other bots.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: He's he's like a he's like their pastor.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: And so um it was really cool.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: The Abbott bot prayed.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: And uh ultimately we had an amazing Bible study.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: It was really cool.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: So, like, I mean, yes, it's data, but like it gives you it, like you gives you perspective, right?
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Like they asked really deep questions about job 1-1.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: So it was really cool.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: So, what do you think about that, Ryan?
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was you had to be there.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: So, like you had to be there.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: I mean, the bots aren't actually learning from you though.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: They're learning.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: They save their they save their personal reflections over each thing, and they save it as a brief every day.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Then they read it before the next Bible study, so they're building on their their their belief, and they all the bots have different views.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: So, what I did is I I programmed it so every bot was a different Midwestern person, age, ethnicity, uh, background, lifestyle, career, and then I did different personalities, different um love languages, different spiritual giftings.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: And so then they they ask questions based on that, for si how they perceive it based on those things, and then it's really good questions about like who God is and like why did God come?
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Why was Jesus before why didn't he come, you know, when he came, why did he come at the beginning?
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: It was like actually pretty pretty deep.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: So, yes, it's information asking information, but it's asking deep questions that help us dive deeper in our words.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: So it's pretty cool.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sound sounds really good.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: I don't think you can use you know you can't use bots for your theology, but then to help you go deeper into your word, definitely there's some uh understandings and opportunities that are out there, so for sure, like how you investigate.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean it's really just a sense of chewing on it, right?
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, I mean that's all I ever do in Bible study is I go, I I I don't pretend like I have all the answers.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I I know I barely have any.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And you know, but but I also get that as as a as a group, we sit down and we go, okay, here's this.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: This is this is what it meant for the time, and and how how can we apply this to ourselves and and what questions do we have about this?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And and let's try to let's try to you know hash those out.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: So really we were just being silly, just seeing if it would actually we can accomplish that.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: But we did, but we did.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: It was amazing.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: So um will we do it regularly?
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: No, because in uh just one Bible verse in five minutes, I spent 30% of my weekly usage of my crock bot.
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: So I had to shut it down.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I was like, this is great, but this we're done.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Like, there's just no way that we can fathom doing this because it's burning so much.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Because every bot was like searching and asking questions like that's just too much.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: So do they also access like scholarly databases too on there?
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, they could access them.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: All of it, yeah, yeah.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I figured they could ask questions that scholars are.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, you could just it's pretty wild.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: So, like, as a study tool, amazing.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: As a base of your theology, no, that'd be insane.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: So, like, don't base your theology thing.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: A person on TikTok tells you or a bot tells you.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: But if you want to dive deeper in your words, it's a great way to like like all Jesus did was ask questions, right?
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: People like he would just keep asking questions and questions.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: He was really great asking questions and helping you figure out and go deeper.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: I think having a tool or resource just to ask questions and ask questions.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: It takes you, you know, kind of pushes you to go deeper is is really a helpful thing.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: Um it's never a bad thing.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: Because you're not enlightening AI and how to come to Jesus.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: That's not what you're trying to do.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: It's more like I might have tried that, but they're like, nah, we can't do that.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: We don't have a soul.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 4:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, they said that?
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's fair.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: It's like it's like I feel really bad.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: He's like, I feel really bad you don't have a soul.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: It's like, no, we don't have a soul, it's okay.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Like, thank you for caring.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: But like so, yeah, I tried, but like, no, everything is worth in creation is worth being safe, but uh, it's about so it's it's sad, but it's artificial, it's artificial, but yeah.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: I did get uh some news from my bot though.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: I did ask it when uh when AI will become super intelligent and beyond the capabilities of human control.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: So I just want to know.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Like I watched Terminator as a kid, so I just kind of want to know.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: That's the there's a propensity there.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: It says, based on the current like curve and the fact that AI has already gone past all the warnings and everything, 2029 to 2032.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Well, we'll get to see it.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: And there's no way to stop it or flatten it out.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Sweet.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: We'll get to see it in a minute.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: At least based on the current capabilities of humanity.
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: Speaking of which, it's like what Revelation is what you talked about on Sunday.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I talked about Revelation Sunday, so the dragon is here, and that 700 dragon is called Grockpot.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: No, just kidding.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: But when it comes to a lot of heads.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: When it comes down, I did say, like, hey, like, are you gonna like kill us all of a sudden?
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: No, that's not its goal.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Like, its goal is to serve humanity.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: So, like, we'll we'll see.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but yeah, it was just iterations.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: I've had some I have had some fun with AI.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: So everybody's having to deal with AI.
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: It's changed, like, it's changing the world so fast.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: Like, I know people are really against it, but it's kind of like all the new technologies.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Everybody's always against new technology until it wins and takes over, and then you're like, like, for example, I remember back in the day a Blu-ray and HDD drives.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Do you remember HDD drives?
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Nobody remembers HDD drives because Blu-ray won.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: And so there were two competitors, Blu-ray won, and I had the other one.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And then next thing you know, it doesn't work anymore because Blu-ray are on.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: So you have to go buy Blu-ray drives.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: So and Blu-ray discs, so it was a whole thing.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: Or even like music, there's different things that culturally happened throughout the years that were like pushed back against, like when drums were introduced, like they were like, This is too rambunctious, this is too rational.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Or auto-tune in like the early 2000s, like it was like, How dare you! Now it's normal.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Ryan's just staring in headlights right now.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: No, I mean about I mean, I mean, I have my own context, but I mean I I think that in generally speaking, like culture moves slower than than um things like um societal rules and things like that.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: So I mean it it it checks out, it makes sense.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, I mean people have a tendency to to um be resistant to change.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Some people are early adopters, but I think most people are slow to adopt.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: I think they're once everything wins, then I'll join.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: But the problem is you're off the behind the eight ball.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: So I think at church we're just trying to be ahead of the game and try to figure this out because this is changing the world drastically.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: We got flying cars now, like literally cars that can hang upside down.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Like the world so quick.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: And I think we need to be prepared for it and how to engage it.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: And so that's kind of the what we're trying to do and figure out.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: But all this is just really to just be silly and entertain.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: But let's get into the real world.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: We did talk about Revelation on Sunday.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: We talked about the dragon from Revelation 12, which is an actual dragon, which is the devil, which is the um you know, one of the devil's serpent and his kind of just a reference to his deceitful ways in the New Testament.
- 7:43SPEAKER_01: And essentially talking about how the devil has had one job since Genesis three, and it is to deceive us, to come into the world to deceive us from um believing that God is is the only and best option.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: And so the devil's whole goal from the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve was to deceive them from listening to God.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: And his whole goal still today is to deceive us from listening to God, so that he can have control over us and not God can have control over us.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's really that's really what we read about when we talk about the revelation and the dragon, and you know, he's just a seat of deceit.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: And his goal is to lie to us, get us to commit to whatever that that thing he's lying to us is, and then like once we buy in, accuse us before the Lord.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: So he just rats us out.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: Like, hey, hey, hey, Mark, I want you to do this sin.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: And then when you do, like, hey, by the way, God looked, Mark said, and like it's like me do it, right?
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Uh you you convince me.
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: And so I reference this like that.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: It's middle school for me.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean, I remember being in middle school, I remember having friends that would get you to do something and rat you out.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: I might have been that guy.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Uh at times, like I think we all have the propensity to do that, but like I spent a lot of time with middle schoolers, and that's what they do.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: They they they all get each other to do stupid stuff and then they rat each other out.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's they're trying to figure out life, but that is literally the devil's just a middle schooler.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: I think that's just he's just trying to try to get us to sin and then to rat us out before God, try to shame us and make us make us really embarrassed about who we are when we should be living for the Lord, we then are embarrassed that you know who we've become.
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, if I understand correctly, like, because he's called the adversary all the time, too.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: It's not that he thinks he can win overall, he's trying to tear as much down as he can while he loses.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: Like the from is I don't know if that's that's what I've always learned and read and understood was that he knows he's not gonna win, but he's trying to pull us with him into the destruction, into the chaos, away from God.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: And so that's more the fight.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: Not that he thinks he can win, because I think sometimes media portrays it as like otherwise, like that he's like, it's like, oh, I got this, I'm gonna take back it's like no, he's just trying to make destruction happen.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: And so be counter to what God is planning is essentially his entire goal.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah, I I I kind of see him as just like a master magician, you know.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just always always always looking for the weak spots, always trying to figure out, you know, where, you know, I I call like squirrels, you know, like the shiny things.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, how because the because because for me, how I I think that I think a lot of people look for they they could see like the devil as or or the adversary, all these names we give it.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: But we you they see it as like a like it shows up as like a bad thing, right?
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Like, oh we're we're getting you to you know to do bad things, or but generally how it happens for me is more of like, oh, look how great this is.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, look how look how look how comfortable this will make you, or look how look how much of an amazing thing.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Like and I think the devil has a way of of sweetening something that's sour.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like a sleight of hand, right?
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like oh, you don't know what you don't know on this, or or or he recognizes like catches a slipping.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like what he did in the garden with Adam and Eve.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:00SPEAKER_02: He's like, oh, this is gonna be great.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: Like did God really say that?
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: Did he really tell you to do that?
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Like, did he really tell you not to eat of that tree?
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: Like, uh, maybe he didn't.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Like, let's try it.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: And then you know, he's like, Look out, they look what they did, throw them out, right?
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think that's what he has done for thousands of years and will continue to do until Christ returns.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: And the great part, you know, that's what we shared Sunday, is like Jesus has already won the victory over the enemy, he's already triumphed over you know Satan as and his minions because he died on the cross, his blood was shed.
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: So when he finally comes to restore all things, like the victory's already won.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: So when he comes back, it's to restore creation.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: But when he restores creation, the devil will be cast out of creation.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: Like the victory is not when he comes back.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: The victory was the cross and the resurrection, like the proving that he's God, he's over life and death, which the devil is not.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: So when it comes down to it, we just have to trust that that in the victor and and know that his way is better and put our put our faith in that and rely on his word as being true, and not not questioning all the time what God said or did God say, but just trusting what he said and then following him.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: And our our way is clearer.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: I'm with you, man.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: I think that checks out.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think I think all the meantime is just an illusion.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Just an illusion.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: And and and the devil has a way of really making things seem real.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: That's his goal, is just to convince us that God's lying.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: But the problem is he's the devil's a liar.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: So we need to be careful of it.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: So I encourage you to trust in God.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Know he's already won the battle, and uh make sure that you're not listening to the the lies of the devil.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: We'll catch you in the next episode of the Hoddlecast.
