Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: About territory is back with Angels starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez
- 0:09Speaker 1: had to make sure I said that right.
- 0:11Speaker 2: How does it sound, man? How you doing?
- 0:13Speaker 3: Yeah, dude's pretty crazy. I was shocked at first, but man,
- 0:17Speaker 3: I'm excited. A couple of the guys have already reached out, dude,
- 0:19Speaker 3: and I'm pumped up.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Can I tell you that?
- 0:22Speaker 5: Oh?
- 0:23Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I like it.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I like it. Tell me about some of the comments.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You don't have to give me the.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Names, obviously, but what have you talked about, either with
- 0:31Speaker 1: teammates and or with staff about what's coming up for you?
- 0:36Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 0:37Speaker 3: So, well, when I first heard the news, obviously, Perry
- 0:40Speaker 3: the GM called me Kurtzuzuki, and then the day after
- 0:43Speaker 3: talk to Dark No Little Happy Nito reached out today Kouchi.
- 0:48Speaker 3: So talking to some of these guys, man's got me
- 0:51Speaker 3: really pumped up and fired up and uh ready to
- 0:54Speaker 3: get out there and play with them.
- 0:56Speaker 6: What does that? What does that look like for you?
- 0:58Speaker 6: What does that look like? Because we don't rarely have
- 1:00Speaker 6: guys on here right after they're traded, let alone like
- 1:03Speaker 6: a starting pitcher. Who's I mean, we're November twenty first,
- 1:06Speaker 6: So your throwing program has to be kind of at
- 1:10Speaker 6: a place where you're getting ready for spring training. How
- 1:12Speaker 6: does that look for you? And do you have to
- 1:14Speaker 6: like connect with the Angel staff. Let's see, I'm trying
- 1:17Speaker 6: to think who's is it Frosty? Is Frosty the head
- 1:20Speaker 6: trader there?
- 1:21Speaker 3: Mike frost Dad, yep, yeah, yeah, talk to Frosty already.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I mean everything just kind of transitions over. You know,
- 1:29Speaker 3: there's really not much that changes for me, just kind
- 1:32Speaker 3: of staying on the same programs that I'm on.
- 1:35Speaker 4: You know, there might be a little tweaks and adjustments.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Talking to Mike Maddox, Uh, the new pitching coaches got
- 1:40Speaker 3: me excited.
- 1:42Speaker 4: So we're we're.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Gonna go over some throwing stuff that we might want
- 1:46Speaker 3: to change just a little bit. But uh yeah, I
- 1:48Speaker 3: mean just keep rolling with what I'm doing and uh,
- 1:51Speaker 3: get ready for spring training.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Let me ask you this because something I've been traded
- 1:56Speaker 5: a bunch of times, like, did you know beforehand that
- 1:58Speaker 5: this might happen? Or did was your agent giving you
- 2:00Speaker 5: a hint? And were you surprised at all? Like what
- 2:03Speaker 5: what was your first thought once you even heard the
- 2:06Speaker 5: notion of you know, this might happen?
- 2:08Speaker 6: Dude?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Yeah, Saturday, I was at like a charity golf tournament
- 2:16Speaker 3: for the high school that I went to.
- 2:18Speaker 4: My brother's a senior there.
- 2:19Speaker 3: They were doing like a fundraiser, and my agent texted
- 2:22Speaker 3: me and he was like, hey, he's like, got a
- 2:24Speaker 3: weird call from the Angels.
- 2:25Speaker 4: He's like call me back. And I was like, oh lord,
- 2:28Speaker 4: what could this be?
- 2:30Speaker 3: But talk to him and he just said that you
- 2:32Speaker 3: know that, you know that they had reached out and
- 2:34Speaker 3: asked like, you know, how I was feeling and stuff
- 2:36Speaker 3: like that. And he's like, you know, there's probably not
- 2:39Speaker 3: gonna be anything come of it, you know, just kind
- 2:42Speaker 3: of something that can happen, you know, time to time,
- 2:45Speaker 3: get a lot.
- 2:46Speaker 4: The call was like that, but he's like just wanted
- 2:49Speaker 4: you to know. So I was like all right. And
- 2:51Speaker 4: then I was flying me and my wife.
- 2:53Speaker 3: We were going down to the Oriole Spring training Complex
- 2:56Speaker 3: in Sarasota Tuesday night. I was going to go down
- 3:00Speaker 3: there just for a few days, just to check in
- 3:02Speaker 3: throw see some of the medical staff there. On the flight,
- 3:07Speaker 3: got a text from the Orioles GM saying, Hey, call
- 3:10Speaker 3: me asap.
- 3:12Speaker 4: And I was like, told my wife, I.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Was like, well, you know, the GM doesn't really want
- 3:15Speaker 3: to just chit chat with you at nine pm at
- 3:17Speaker 3: night on a Tuesday. Kind of knew something was up there,
- 3:21Speaker 3: but I got off the plane, called him, and then
- 3:23Speaker 3: you know, kind of found out the news and got
- 3:25Speaker 3: a call from Perry and Kurt soon after, and I
- 3:28Speaker 3: was super excited. I was shocked at first, but now
- 3:31Speaker 3: I'm pretty pumped up about it.
- 3:34Speaker 6: All Right. So a lot of what I have said
- 3:38Speaker 6: about this trade on here has gotten some visceral hate
- 3:43Speaker 6: from Orioles fans, and I'm not going to tell you
- 3:46Speaker 6: what they've said about you, but I'm going to tell
- 3:49Speaker 6: you that on this show, we are impartial. We're not
- 3:53Speaker 6: Oriols fans. We're not We're fan of people. And the
- 3:57Speaker 6: times that you've come on, you've been injured, we've watched
- 4:00Speaker 6: you pitch in real games, Like I see you as
- 4:02Speaker 6: a real person. And I'm gonna say this for real,
- 4:05Speaker 6: I feel like the Angels, nothing against Tailor Award, fleeced
- 4:10Speaker 6: the Orioles in this trade because I see you as
- 4:12Speaker 6: an elite starting pitcher that has not been on the
- 4:16Speaker 6: field as much as you want to be. How do
- 4:19Speaker 6: you see yourself? And then I'll continue to ask questions
- 4:22Speaker 6: from this from this standpoint.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know, obviously, like I said, I
- 4:30Speaker 3: was shocked. It was odd, But I mean, like, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 3: what can I say, Like, you know, obviously last year
- 4:37Speaker 3: you know, didn't go how I wanted to.
- 4:39Speaker 4: I knew.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I knew in spring training last year that I was
- 4:42Speaker 3: going to really be facing some challenges, you know with
- 4:45Speaker 3: my arm just because you know, when I'm throwing at
- 4:49Speaker 3: spring training and stuff, which you know, like it's kind
- 4:52Speaker 3: of been talked about a little bit, but I had
- 4:53Speaker 3: some bone spurs removed in August, and they've been in
- 4:57Speaker 3: there for like three or four years. Like this is
- 4:59Speaker 3: something that I've dealt with for a while ever since
- 5:01Speaker 3: I was probably in double A, Triple A. I want
- 5:05Speaker 3: to say, you know, it would kind of come and go.
- 5:08Speaker 3: So it was nothing that was like like really serious,
- 5:13Speaker 3: you know, like I said, like, you know, it kind
- 5:15Speaker 3: of flare up maybe spring training, beginning of the season.
- 5:18Speaker 4: Go away, come back, go away.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Last year was kind of the first time that it
- 5:24Speaker 3: came and like stayed with me, and uh, you know,
- 5:27Speaker 3: we kind of knew that, uh, you know, it's gonna
- 5:29Speaker 3: be something that I was gonna have to battle, and
- 5:32Speaker 3: you know, it's always in the back of your mind
- 5:33Speaker 3: having a deal with something like that, and then you know,
- 5:36Speaker 3: kind of having those those tweaks, those tweak injuries of
- 5:39Speaker 3: the lat you know, it was just those spurs just
- 5:41Speaker 3: really kind of weren't.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Helping the situation.
- 5:44Speaker 3: And uh, you know, like we didn't decide, we decided
- 5:47Speaker 3: to not get the surgery, uh at spring training, and
- 5:50Speaker 3: then just kind of got to a point where it
- 5:51Speaker 3: was like I can just you know, I can't, can't
- 5:53Speaker 3: take it. So I had them removed in August and
- 5:56Speaker 3: now I'm throwing, you know, feeling good.
- 5:58Speaker 4: But yeah, I mean, the I.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Don't know, it's kind of you know, it's just kind
- 6:02Speaker 3: of weird. You know, I didn't think the Orioles would
- 6:05Speaker 3: trade me, but obviously the Angels wanted me bad enough,
- 6:09Speaker 3: and uh, it's kind of a cool feeling.
- 6:12Speaker 6: That's actually what I was gonna ask you. Do you
- 6:14Speaker 6: feel like the Orioles didn't want you or do you
- 6:17Speaker 6: feel like the Angels wanted you back? Because if you
- 6:19Speaker 6: look at the Angels rotation, they're they're in need of
- 6:23Speaker 6: some dudes, and they never ardi Moreno never goes to
- 6:26Speaker 6: like that long extension for pictures in free agency essentially,
- 6:30Speaker 6: that's what he got in you we got a four
- 6:32Speaker 6: year deal out of Grace at Rodriguz.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Yeah, like like I was saying, like I was pretty surprised.
- 6:39Speaker 4: You know.
- 6:39Speaker 3: It's something that like, you know, we've always joked around about,
- 6:42Speaker 3: you know, like me and my wife, like you know,
- 6:44Speaker 3: what would happen, you know, if we got traded, But
- 6:47Speaker 3: it was never something that was kind of like you
- 6:49Speaker 3: know in the picture to us. But I mean, you know,
- 6:52Speaker 3: it happened, and like I said, you know, you're kind
- 6:55Speaker 3: of sad, like at first because most of those guys
- 6:58Speaker 3: in the in the Orioles Clubhouse, you know, I came
- 7:01Speaker 3: up in the minor leagues with you know, I mean
- 7:03Speaker 3: like I've known you know, Gunner and Adley ever since
- 7:05Speaker 3: I was nineteen years old, so like played with them
- 7:08Speaker 3: a while. I'd say, yeah, like kind of leaving your
- 7:12Speaker 3: friends behind. But then you know, seeing like the opportunity
- 7:15Speaker 3: that it's now in front of you, like to go
- 7:18Speaker 3: completely from the East coast to the west coast, you know,
- 7:21Speaker 3: Orange County like la, Like, I mean, my wife is
- 7:25Speaker 3: super excited to live there. You know I am too.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Like the weather's great man, like it's it's kind of
- 7:33Speaker 3: it's just a weird spot. I would say, like, you know,
- 7:35Speaker 3: there's a little bit of sadness, you know, leaving some
- 7:37Speaker 3: guys behind that you know, you grinded with in the
- 7:39Speaker 3: minor leagues. But then you know, looking forward to your
- 7:41Speaker 3: new teammates, your new organization, like everything about it is
- 7:45Speaker 3: just super super exciting.
- 7:47Speaker 4: So I'm really looking forward to it.
- 7:50Speaker 6: Who was the first guy that texted you from the Orioles?
- 7:53Speaker 6: You already mentioned the Angels guys. Did they do all
- 7:55Speaker 6: the Orioles guys? Did they lose your number? You know,
- 7:58Speaker 6: you get traded and contact?
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's some of them I haven't heard from,
- 8:05Speaker 3: so you know, might have you know, I might have
- 8:08Speaker 3: to call him out. Yeah, might have to call him out,
- 8:11Speaker 3: but no, I think Yeah, Gunner was the first one
- 8:13Speaker 3: that reached out player wise, so yeah, I mean I
- 8:17Speaker 3: knew knew Gunner would reach out. There's a couple of others, yeah,
- 8:22Speaker 3: he from haven't heard from him yet, and you know
- 8:26Speaker 3: it might be because you know, we're in the middle
- 8:27Speaker 3: of some fantasy football stuff.
- 8:28Speaker 4: You know, the playoffs are neck and neck.
- 8:31Speaker 3: You know, they might just you know, hate me from
- 8:32Speaker 3: fantasy football, right now, but uh, yeah, we'll see, so.
- 8:38Speaker 6: That's fair. That's fair. All right. So you talked about
- 8:41Speaker 6: the bone. Did you call them bone chips or bone
- 8:43Speaker 6: spurs in your elbow?
- 8:47Speaker 4: Bone spurs? So they were like they were attached.
- 8:50Speaker 3: But I mean just barely so uh yeah, they came
- 8:54Speaker 3: loose pretty quick, so they weren't floating, but but they
- 8:57Speaker 3: were definitely there and uh causing so inflammation in that
- 9:00Speaker 3: tricep area.
- 9:02Speaker 6: What about the shoulder? What about the bone chip in
- 9:04Speaker 6: your shoulder? Is that a is that cleaned up? Was
- 9:07Speaker 6: that something? How long did that bother you? And did
- 9:10Speaker 6: it create did it create more of damage? Because sometimes
- 9:13Speaker 6: when that stuff's in there, it creates a little bit
- 9:16Speaker 6: more damage and that's why they want to try to
- 9:18Speaker 6: get stuff like that out if they can.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Yeah, there's yeah, thankfully there's no bone chips or anything
- 9:23Speaker 3: in my shoulder.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 3: So, I mean it's just kind of like the only
- 9:27Speaker 3: kind of issues I've dealt shoulder wise are just kind
- 9:30Speaker 3: of in the lat and like you know, like I said,
- 9:33Speaker 3: there's nothing major.
- 9:35Speaker 4: You know, we've seen.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I've tried to see just about every doctor there is
- 9:38Speaker 3: to try to figure out, you know, kind of why
- 9:41Speaker 3: there was a small reoccurrence of an injury keep happening.
- 9:44Speaker 3: You know, there's no surgery required for any of this,
- 9:48Speaker 3: just kind of like you know, you just like tweaking
- 9:50Speaker 3: your hammy just barely.
- 9:52Speaker 4: You know, you can't run at full speed.
- 9:53Speaker 3: You're kind of figuring out You're just trying to figure
- 9:55Speaker 3: out why it keeps happening, and that's kind of what
- 9:57Speaker 3: we've been doing. And you know, everybody we spoke with,
- 10:01Speaker 3: you know, we all kind of came back to the
- 10:02Speaker 3: same conclusion of having the bone spurs in there and
- 10:05Speaker 3: the elbow not being able to get to full extension.
- 10:08Speaker 3: And you know, if you can't get out there and
- 10:10Speaker 3: fully extend, well, you know what muscle slows down.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Your arm when you're throwing, it's your lap.
- 10:15Speaker 3: So you know, if you can't if you can't get
- 10:19Speaker 3: out there to extension, you can't slow your arm down
- 10:21Speaker 3: quick enough. You know, your lat's firing twice as hard
- 10:23Speaker 3: as having to work just as much. So it's all
- 10:26Speaker 3: kind of come back to the same conclusion. So, you know,
- 10:29Speaker 3: getting these bone spurs out, it's been a huge relief.
- 10:32Speaker 3: You know, hopefully this is all behind us and in
- 10:35Speaker 3: the past. You know, we're going to learn from it.
- 10:37Speaker 6: You know.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Obviously you don't want to go through a season like
- 10:39Speaker 3: I had last year where you don't even throw an inning,
- 10:41Speaker 3: but you know you can kind of just really look
- 10:43Speaker 3: back and reflect and you know, change your program and
- 10:46Speaker 3: figure out you know, what you need, what you don't need,
- 10:49Speaker 3: and you know, just move on.
- 10:51Speaker 6: Okay, So a play on words, because I'm an idiot.
- 10:55Speaker 6: The chip on your shoulder was not in your shoulder.
- 10:57Speaker 6: It's a chip in your shoulder. A chip on your shoulder.
- 11:01Speaker 6: You're gonna have a chip on your shoulder. Uh like
- 11:03Speaker 6: four pitching next year?
- 11:07Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, for sure. Yeah, definitely circling the Orioles
- 11:11Speaker 3: on the calendar if I, uh, if I get to
- 11:13Speaker 3: pitch against them, you know, obviously I only get to
- 11:16Speaker 3: throw against those guys in spring training, you know, and
- 11:20Speaker 3: that's definitely heated. There's a lot of trash talk that
- 11:22Speaker 3: goes on. I love talking crap to him about it.
- 11:25Speaker 3: So seeing them, you know in the box real game,
- 11:30Speaker 3: it's gonna be It's gonna be.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Fun for me for sure.
- 11:32Speaker 3: So you know, I'm not gonna say I'm gonna hit anybody,
- 11:35Speaker 3: but I mean, I don't know, maybe want to let
- 11:37Speaker 3: maybe want to let loose at somebody not gonna name
- 11:40Speaker 3: any names, and leave that out there for him, try
- 11:42Speaker 3: to scare them over there.
- 11:44Speaker 4: I love, it's gonna be super fun.
- 11:47Speaker 3: It's gonna be super fun day to pitch against them.
- 11:51Speaker 5: That's all I'm talking about. Pitching too, Man, you have
- 11:53Speaker 5: a great arsenal pitches. In twenty twenty four, you doubled
- 11:57Speaker 5: pretty much your your curveball usage. Is there are you
- 12:00Speaker 5: this off season? Is there gonna be something else different
- 12:02Speaker 5: that you want to you know, get after and use
- 12:04Speaker 5: during the season, or it's going to be you know,
- 12:06Speaker 5: you're daily of what here it is, you see it
- 12:08Speaker 5: and what you get.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think it'll depend a lot on
- 12:13Speaker 3: you know, kind of you know, how I'm feeling that day,
- 12:16Speaker 3: what's kind of kind of going in the bullpen, maybe
- 12:20Speaker 3: kind of what the lineup's gonna show us. And I
- 12:23Speaker 3: think in Baltimore, you know a lot of that stuff
- 12:26Speaker 3: is kind of already determined before the game starts. Now,
- 12:31Speaker 3: you know, sometimes it works, sometimes it you know, goes
- 12:34Speaker 3: really wrong. But like I said, it'll be good to
- 12:38Speaker 3: just kind of, you know, be with Maddox. Who's you know,
- 12:44Speaker 3: I'm not gonna say an old school guy, but you know,
- 12:46Speaker 3: doesn't lean as heavy on analytics and just go out
- 12:48Speaker 3: there and pitch.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Man, It's gonna be so much fun.
- 12:52Speaker 6: Does he talk to you anything about like because you
- 12:55Speaker 6: said he said, I, hey, there's one thing, there's one
- 12:57Speaker 6: thing that we wanted to work on. Has he met
- 13:00Speaker 6: mention anything about innings since you didn't throw it all
- 13:02Speaker 6: this year? But you said he's old school. Old school
- 13:05Speaker 6: guys are like, here's the ball, Grayson, go throw. And
- 13:08Speaker 6: I know Maddix a little bit from the two weeks
- 13:11Speaker 6: that he was a pitching goes where I was. But
- 13:14Speaker 6: do you think there's any kind of innings limit? Do
- 13:16Speaker 6: you feel that on yourself without the team even saying anything.
- 13:22Speaker 3: You know, I mean, I have no idea. I'm gonna
- 13:23Speaker 3: be honest with you. Hadn't had any kind of conversations
- 13:26Speaker 3: like that.
- 13:26Speaker 6: You know.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I'm not saying that there won't be any conversations about it.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I'm sure there will be, but right now, I mean,
- 13:32Speaker 3: you know, I haven't. We haven't talked about that, you know.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Right now, just focused on getting ready, making sure we
- 13:38Speaker 3: show up the spring training healthy and ready to throw.
- 13:41Speaker 3: I think that's you know, kind of at the front.
- 13:42Speaker 3: You know, we might worry about the innings limit or
- 13:45Speaker 3: whatever if there is one. We'll worry about that down
- 13:47Speaker 3: the road and we get there. But right now, just
- 13:49Speaker 3: focus on being an angel and getting my arm ready
- 13:52Speaker 3: to go back out and throw.
- 13:55Speaker 2: And Grayson, we got those dates.
- 13:56Speaker 1: You might know him already, but June twenty two to
- 13:59Speaker 1: twenty four Orioles at Angels. August four to six, Angels
- 14:04Speaker 1: are in Baltimore, So you got a little time get
- 14:07Speaker 1: nice and cozy with the new team, and then you'll
- 14:10Speaker 1: get a little Baltimore on the calendar a couple different
- 14:12Speaker 1: times this year, which which will be nice. But I mean,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I know it's way far ahead, it's in August, but
- 14:17Speaker 1: will you will you have like emotions flowing? I mean,
- 14:19Speaker 1: this is your your OG organization for a while here.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I'm sure there will be, you know,
- 14:26Speaker 3: some extra juices going just because I know those guys,
- 14:29Speaker 3: you know, I mean, it just means a little bit more.
- 14:32Speaker 3: If you have a buddy step in the box or something,
- 14:34Speaker 3: you know, you want to do everything you can to
- 14:36Speaker 3: punch him out, you know. Yeah, I mean I think
- 14:39Speaker 3: it'll definitely be It'll definitely be fun, you know, there's
- 14:42Speaker 3: not gonna be any kind of bad blood there. I
- 14:44Speaker 3: don't think just because you know the guys in that clubhouse,
- 14:46Speaker 3: that's not who trades me. But yeah, it'll be interesting
- 14:50Speaker 3: to see when we get there, and I'll definitely be
- 14:52Speaker 3: looking forward to it.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Hey, I was doing some homework, So I think you
- 14:56Speaker 1: were the actual last first round pick by the previous
- 15:00Speaker 1: front office regime, right, you were drafted by Dan Duquette
- 15:03Speaker 1: and his group, and then Michael Lias came in. So
- 15:07Speaker 1: my question is, do you do you think that ever
- 15:09Speaker 1: kind of affects things where you know, one group really
- 15:12Speaker 1: knows a guy and they're attached to him from the
- 15:14Speaker 1: jump versus you know, another group coming in and just
- 15:17Speaker 1: not having that same like original connection.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, for sure, you know, I think you know,
- 15:23Speaker 3: you kind of see it with one of my good buddies,
- 15:25Speaker 3: Dal Hall. He was in the draft before me, so
- 15:28Speaker 3: obviously a duquet guy. You know, he was traded. There
- 15:33Speaker 3: really wasn't a whole lot of guys from my draft
- 15:36Speaker 3: class that have made it to the big leagues. I
- 15:39Speaker 3: know Drew ram was one. He was also traded. So yeah,
- 15:43Speaker 3: I mean, I guess you can kind of look back
- 15:45Speaker 3: and see like, Okay, these guys were in the organization,
- 15:48Speaker 3: you know, with the previous regime, and you know, most
- 15:52Speaker 3: of them are gone.
- 15:53Speaker 4: I think the only ones left.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I think there's only three if I'm not mistaken, and
- 15:58Speaker 3: that's gonna be Ryan Mountcastle, Keegan Achan and Felix Fautista
- 16:03Speaker 3: I think are the only three that are still there
- 16:07Speaker 3: from the pre Michael Eis era. You might have a
- 16:10Speaker 3: fact check me on that, but uh yeah, I don't know.
- 16:12Speaker 3: It might have something to do with it, it might not,
- 16:15Speaker 3: but that's something that you know, we've kind of joked
- 16:17Speaker 3: around about too sometimes.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Now, when you get traded, you got to go through
- 16:23Speaker 5: physicals and evaluations and medical stuff. Did you do that already?
- 16:28Speaker 5: So all that's taken care of. Everything went well with that,
- 16:30Speaker 5: especially you know with your arm and everything.
- 16:34Speaker 3: No, I mean I got a call that said, hey,
- 16:35Speaker 3: you've been traded to the Angels like that, this is it.
- 16:38Speaker 4: You know, it's done deal. So yeah, there's nothing, there's
- 16:41Speaker 4: no physicals.
- 16:42Speaker 6: You know.
- 16:42Speaker 4: I was talking about that with my dad yesterday.
- 16:45Speaker 3: He was asking me about that, and I was like,
- 16:46Speaker 3: you know, I mean, you know, we're good to go,
- 16:48Speaker 3: so perfect, awesome.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Wait, so So Grayson, what's next off the field here?
- 16:54Speaker 1: You mentioned how yeah, there's there's some gorgeous whether you
- 16:56Speaker 1: certainly got traded to a nice spot. In terms of
- 16:59Speaker 1: living life outside of baseball, how does your off season
- 17:03Speaker 1: change with the location change for the fam?
- 17:08Speaker 3: You know, I mean, obviously never been to an Arizona
- 17:11Speaker 3: spring training. Excited about that. I guess we'll have to
- 17:15Speaker 3: worry about finding a place to save for that first,
- 17:19Speaker 3: and then you know, I hadn't really you know, obviously
- 17:21Speaker 3: I don't know the first thing about Los Angeles. I
- 17:23Speaker 3: don't know if there's any white tailed deer there. If
- 17:25Speaker 3: there are, i'd love it, But.
- 17:29Speaker 4: I don't know. I really proud about it.
- 17:32Speaker 3: The only time I've been to LA played there in
- 17:36Speaker 3: high school once there was like a tournament, and then
- 17:40Speaker 3: just the times that we've played against the Dodgers and
- 17:43Speaker 3: the Angels when i've been with the Orioles, So that's
- 17:45Speaker 3: literally the only times I've been over there.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Weather it was fantastic.
- 17:49Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean, I really don't know much about
- 17:51Speaker 3: it right now, so gonna gonna be learning about it soon,
- 17:54Speaker 3: i'd imagine.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Last question here. You know, you talk about white tailed
- 17:59Speaker 5: deal first off, like Trout, big time hunter, so maybe
- 18:02Speaker 5: maybe talk to him about it. Have you had of
- 18:04Speaker 5: a conversation with him yet at all?
- 18:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I've had a few conversations with Trout over the
- 18:10Speaker 3: last year or so. We got some some mutual friends,
- 18:15Speaker 3: you know, obviously huge Eagles fan boo. Actually I actually
- 18:22Speaker 3: hunt a bunch with two of the former Eagles players.
- 18:27Speaker 3: So got some Eagles connections with some friends up there
- 18:29Speaker 3: in Philly. You know, I'm from Texas. I'm not gonna
- 18:33Speaker 3: say I'm a Cowboys fan. Definitely watching the game every Sunday, though,
- 18:37Speaker 3: I'm watching the Cowboys. So that week one of the
- 18:40Speaker 3: NFL season, Cowboys Eagles in Philly, there is definitely some
- 18:44Speaker 3: messages from Mike Trout.
- 18:46Speaker 4: About the matchup.
- 18:48Speaker 3: So yeah, I've been talking to Trout for a little
- 18:50Speaker 3: while about hunting stuff, sharing some game camera pictures with
- 18:53Speaker 3: him and whatnot. And uh, yeah, I guess now we're teammates.
- 18:56Speaker 3: So maybe he'll invite me to hunt his place, and
- 18:59Speaker 3: I'll invite him to.
- 19:00Speaker 5: My place, you never know, and find a way to
- 19:03Speaker 5: get him back into the playoffs. What do you say
- 19:05Speaker 5: about that?
- 19:07Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 19:08Speaker 3: Man, I know I was asked about They're like, well,
- 19:11Speaker 3: you know, what are your views on you know, October baseball,
- 19:13Speaker 3: And I'm like, the goals to be in October. You know,
- 19:16Speaker 3: it doesn't matter who you're playing for, that's the goal.
- 19:17Speaker 3: And then you know, if you don't get there, you failed.
- 19:20Speaker 3: So that's definitely going to be the goal. And I
- 19:22Speaker 3: you know, I think we can do it, you know,
- 19:24Speaker 3: I mean, you know when I was with the Orioles
- 19:26Speaker 3: in twenty three, you know it, we went from winning
- 19:30Speaker 3: I think it was like maybe eighty games, seventy eight,
- 19:33Speaker 3: eighty eighty two, I don't know whatever the number was,
- 19:35Speaker 3: to like winning one hundred and one. Like it's just boomed,
- 19:38Speaker 3: like it just happened. And that's kind of the cool thing,
- 19:41Speaker 3: you know, seeing that that can happen, that can take place.
- 19:44Speaker 3: You know, we won the division in twenty three. You know,
- 19:47Speaker 3: I think it's definitely attainable in LA with the Angels.
- 19:51Speaker 6: All Right, Grayson, listen, you're not you didn't say you're
- 19:54Speaker 6: Cowboys fan, but you watch the games. Okay. You are
- 19:58Speaker 6: currently twenty six years old. Happy birthday, by the way,
- 20:01Speaker 6: it was just five days ago. Is your birthday? What
- 20:03Speaker 6: a what a what a nice birthday for you. But
- 20:07Speaker 6: you don't know what winning is for a Cowboys because
- 20:10Speaker 6: you're only twenty six years old. So it's okay. Just
- 20:13Speaker 6: go watch the games, enjoy what you do, and that's
- 20:16Speaker 6: totally fine. Just make sure when you argue with Trouty
- 20:19Speaker 6: about Eagles, Cowboys, whatever it is, that like he he's
- 20:24Speaker 6: he's dominated the rivalry.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, I'm just gonna let you know that you're wrong.
- 20:30Speaker 4: All right.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Look up Dak Prescott's record versus the Eagles. Okay, two,
- 20:35Speaker 3: I do know what winning is because that documentary came
- 20:37Speaker 3: out this year and I got to watch that.
- 20:39Speaker 4: So saw some.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Film on an the boys, you know, winning, So now
- 20:45Speaker 3: I can say that I've seen it. So, yeah, you're
- 20:48Speaker 3: romocrats over there.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Well, I watched a documentary on the Revolutionary Ward. Doesn't
- 20:53Speaker 6: mean that I lived it, Okay, So I'm just saying.
- 20:57Speaker 3: I'm willing to bet you are a liar. You did
- 20:59Speaker 3: not watch a documentary on the Revolutionary War.
- 21:02Speaker 6: Okay. I saw there was a documentary and I skipped
- 21:06Speaker 6: over it to watch to watch Rusty. No, my teachers
- 21:16Speaker 6: love me. My teachers love me.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I'm a big George Washington fan. A good way to
- 21:22Speaker 1: go out. We're getting a little bit of self feedback here.
- 21:25Speaker 1: But but Grayson, if you can hear us, you're the man.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Oh there we go. He's back. Grayson, you're the man.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us, and yeah, have a great
- 21:33Speaker 1: Thanksgiving and all that. We'll catch you, I think before
- 21:35Speaker 1: Christmas will get you back one more time before the
- 21:37Speaker 1: season or before the year ends. But but congrats, man,
- 21:40Speaker 1: you're gonna love life and the warmth out there.
- 21:43Speaker 2: So thanks for joining us. Dude.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I appreciate y'all. Thank you all for having me on.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Hopefully Nagatos, Texas gets some fiber optic internet before Christmas. Okay,

- 22:05Speaker 4: About all right, catch y'all later.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Hey.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Carl Anthony Towns held a Yamamoto rookie card and Todd Father.
- 22:14Speaker 1: He just unleashed it for seventy two grand and good
- 22:17Speaker 1: good thing too, because he needs it. Man, he's struggling.
- 22:20Speaker 1: He only makes what do you think, I don't prop
- 22:23Speaker 1: my head makes a ton of money. I means it's superstar.
- 22:26Speaker 2: That's pretty cool, though, good job.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Good slip, I mean, Jesus, good flip, Tod Father, that's
- 22:34Speaker 1: a good flip.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I had that bad boy, and it went up a lot,
- 22:38Speaker 2: a lot as he became.
- 22:40Speaker 5: The best, best time to sell it right now, great call, Yes,
- 22:45Speaker 5: prices guess in October.
- 22:47Speaker 6: I need you to guess when he's making in twenty twenty.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Five, forty five million.
- 22:53Speaker 6: Fifty six starts with a five fifty three point one
- 22:58Speaker 6: four million Carl Anthony Towns. Don't Paul Chauncey billups, okay,
- 23:03Speaker 6: but they also have like that's sick. I think that's awesome.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Seventy two g's. That's a good pool. That's a good pool.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Yeah, he gets paid that much for maybe a quarter
- 23:16Speaker 1: of basketball.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Maybe hmmm, maybe a quarter.
- 23:22Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 23:23Speaker 2: But still that's a good flip. That's a good flip.
- 23:25Speaker 6: No, not even, cra no, I not even. It'd be
- 23:28Speaker 6: closer to like two no, sick. Yeah, it will be
- 23:37Speaker 6: more like one hundred thousand per quarter.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Okay, so close close. That's crazy. Right, Hey, good job, man,
- 23:43Speaker 1: you just played a quarter of basketball. Here's one hundred gee's.
- 23:45Speaker 1: That's more than any average annual value in baseball, Right,
- 23:49Speaker 1: what's Soto at.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Cooky?
- 23:55Speaker 6: I don't know. Well, no, I mean show Hay is
- 23:57Speaker 6: fifty six? No after after defers.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Now net present value?
- 24:03Speaker 6: I thought his net present value was fifty six.
- 24:06Speaker 1: No, he signed what it was a ten year, seven hundred, right,
- 24:11Speaker 1: the net present value is four fifty, so that's forty
- 24:13Speaker 1: five forty six.
- 24:15Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's yeah. I think it's like forty six,
- 24:17Speaker 6: forty five, forty six somewhere in there. So you're right. No, no,
- 24:20Speaker 6: but the NBA has a cap, so it's much easier
- 24:22Speaker 6: for everybody to compete.
- 24:25Speaker 7: I think you're gonna say that it's sorry, sorry, I'm
- 24:29Speaker 7: trying to find with the aav oh fifty one for Soto.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got to be.
- 24:38Speaker 6: Carl Anthony Towns most most people in here don't even
- 24:43Speaker 6: know what team he plays for.
