Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We are out of the gates on sport and state.
- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome to Hutton and Withrow, presented by Hard Rock Bet.
- 0:04Speaker 1: He's Withrow. I'm Hutton. Good morning to you. Hope you
- 0:07Speaker 1: have your Crockett coffee nice and ready for the big day.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Withrow always does. Chad, good morning, man. Good morning.
- 0:14Speaker 2: You caught me mid-sip right there. A piping hot King
- 0:18Speaker 2: Mountain cup of coffee right here with Crockett. I'm ready
- 0:21Speaker 2: to go, Hutton. This is cup number two already. I
- 0:24Speaker 2: like to get my first cup in before the show.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Start the second cup as the show begins. And Crockett
- 0:28Speaker 2: Coffee fuels the show every morning. And we got a
- 0:31Speaker 2: bunch of big stories that fuel us today for sure.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so Jordan Elliott, he's with the Titans or no
- 0:40Speaker 1: longer with the Titans. He was in practice apparently against J.C.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Latham and had a dispute with Latham. They ended up
- 0:47Speaker 1: back in the locker room. Another dispute breaks out. And
- 0:50Speaker 1: he ends up going to his car in the team
- 0:53Speaker 1: garage and retrieving a firearm. and it was another teammate,
- 1:00Speaker 1: John Franklin Myers, who prevented him from going any further
- 1:04Speaker 1: than that once he retrieved the firearm. This is according
- 1:07Speaker 1: to A to Z Sports, and reports state that he
- 1:11Speaker 1: was in the garage to get the gun from his car,
- 1:13Speaker 1: and luckily John Franklin Myers stepped in to calm the
- 1:17Speaker 1: situation down. Metro Nashville Police, they stated no official reports
- 1:20Speaker 1: or charges were filed by Tuesday afternoon. This is something
- 1:24Speaker 1: that took place last Thursday. And the Titans released this statement,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and that's all they're going to do is release statements now.
- 1:30Speaker 1: We touched on that yesterday. Here's the statement from the Titans.
- 1:38Speaker 1: We don't have that? Okay, well, A to Z Sports
- 1:42Speaker 1: then has the full report. Everyone's trying to figure out
- 1:45Speaker 1: what's going on with Jordan Elliott, why he was released
- 1:50Speaker 1: on Tuesday, and quite frankly, why it took five days.
- 1:54Speaker 1: to make this happen, Chad. But there's the timeline for
- 1:57Speaker 1: Jordan Elliott released from the Titans. And good reporting by
- 2:00Speaker 1: A to Z Sports. Nice job by Aaron Wilson, who
- 2:04Speaker 1: added to this report by naming the other players who
- 2:08Speaker 1: either were involved or stepped in to help. And Chad,
- 2:12Speaker 1: this is a situation that could have been a lot worse.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Could have been a lot worse. Everything apparently captured on camera.
- 2:19Speaker 1: But I mean, it is like Fort Knox over there
- 2:21Speaker 1: to get into the facility. and they would have had
- 2:24Speaker 1: plenty of cameras on the team parking garage. Luckily, this
- 2:29Speaker 1: was stopped before it escalated any further. And just, man,
- 2:33Speaker 1: you wonder what goes through a man's head whenever he's
- 2:36Speaker 1: that pissed off that he's going to a car to
- 2:40Speaker 1: retrieve a firearm. A scary situation.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and this was, of course, going into their game
- 2:46Speaker 2: last week was when this happened. Here's a statement hunting
- 2:48Speaker 2: from the Titans. Again, this is issued through Jim Wyatt.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Team reporter.
- 2:52Speaker 2: This is what we're going to hear from the Titans
- 2:54Speaker 2: on this. And then I'm sure when asked questions about it,
- 2:57Speaker 2: they're just going to refer back to the statement. It says, quote,
- 3:00Speaker 2: on Thursday, October 15th, there was an incident at our
- 3:02Speaker 2: team facility involving Jordan Elliott. Following our review of the incident,
- 3:06Speaker 2: we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster.
- 3:09Speaker 2: We will have no further.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Comment on the matter. So I don't know that J.C.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Latham, part of it, has been reported by people yet,
- 3:16Speaker 2: but I've heard, like you, that That it was J.C.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Latham he was battling in practice.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Aaron Wilson. Yeah, Aaron Wilson. Okay, Aaron Wilson did say J.C.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Latham's name. Okay, good.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Regardless, this is an awful look, obviously. Thank God he
- 3:31Speaker 2: didn't actually retrieve the firearm and that John Franklin Myers
- 3:34Speaker 2: was able to talk him off the ledge and nothing
- 3:36Speaker 2: escalated to the point of someone being critically injured or
- 3:40Speaker 2: hurt or killed.
- 3:41Speaker 1: In some way. So that part of it, you know,
- 3:44Speaker 1: it ended well there.
- 3:45Speaker 2: The Titans made the right decision to cut him um
- 3:49Speaker 2: I don't know why it took as as long as
- 3:51Speaker 2: it did other than they're just getting ready for a game.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yeah I think that would be it I mean you
- 3:56Speaker 1: know it's a Thursday you're about to travel yeah if
- 3:59Speaker 1: this happened on a Monday I think it you make
- 4:01Speaker 1: the you make the move pretty fast I think it
- 4:04Speaker 1: was the timing of the week quite frankly Chad you
- 4:06Speaker 1: know initially I'm thinking like are they really going to
- 4:09Speaker 1: hold it till this week with all the news that
- 4:11Speaker 1: was going on last week you know, that was my
- 4:13Speaker 1: initial thought. And then thinking it through, uh, they're on
- 4:16Speaker 1: the road. Uh, there's a lot going on. And I
- 4:18Speaker 1: think that they, uh, they went full, they went full investigation, uh,
- 4:22Speaker 1: when they got back to town. Yeah.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And then when you get all the, you know, look,
- 4:26Speaker 2: you're going to look at the security footage and you're
- 4:28Speaker 2: going to have multiple witnesses there that hear and see
- 4:31Speaker 2: what happens.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, it's wild.
- 4:35Speaker 2: And I go back to a new question that I've
- 4:38Speaker 2: got with this Titans organization and this Titans team.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Um, We haven't talked a lot about Mike Borgonzi.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Now, I know that Jordan Elliott was a guy that
- 4:47Speaker 2: played for Robert Sala in San Francisco. So I think
- 4:51Speaker 2: immediately people say, well, this is a Robert Sala move
- 4:54Speaker 2: to bring him in as a free agent. Well, then
- 4:56Speaker 2: let's talk about Elante Taylor, a guy that you were
- 4:59Speaker 2: paying a ton of money to in free agency to
- 5:03Speaker 2: be a lockdown corner. There are a lot of people
- 5:06Speaker 2: across the league who've never felt like this $ 58 million
- 5:09Speaker 2: cornerback for the Titans was a lockdown corner. They thought
- 5:12Speaker 2: he was a slot guy, a slot coverage guy, and
- 5:15Speaker 2: that was it. But the Titans paid him and bet
- 5:18Speaker 2: on him as a lockdown corner, and he's a healthy
- 5:21Speaker 2: scratch after a terrible game against the Houston Texans and
- 5:25Speaker 2: a bad start to the season.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Now, I watched the game against the Colts.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I don't know that the secondary was that much better
- 5:31Speaker 2: without Elante Taylor, but to make that decision this early.
- 5:34Speaker 2: You know, we can't talk about Cam Ward and his
- 5:37Speaker 2: poor play and him being replaced. But to go ahead
- 5:40Speaker 2: and say, hey, we're paying Elante Taylor $ 58 million. This
- 5:44Speaker 2: was one of Mike Borgonzi's biggest free agent signings, if
- 5:47Speaker 2: not the biggest this past offseason. Let's go ahead and
- 5:50Speaker 2: make him a healthy scratch. I got a lot of
- 5:53Speaker 2: questions about Mike Borgonzi and his.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Role in this too.
- 5:55Speaker 2: And we've talked about it, an all-encompassing thing with the
- 5:58Speaker 2: Titans organization. Top down has not been good enough. Throw
- 6:01Speaker 2: Mike Borgonzi into that mix because whether it was a
- 6:05Speaker 2: Robert Sala, hey, I want Jordan Elliott. to be here
- 6:08Speaker 2: or whoever was in on that decision-making. I'm not going
- 6:11Speaker 2: to go back to this game that we played for
- 6:14Speaker 2: years of, is it Brinker or Carthon? Or is it
- 6:17Speaker 2: Vrabel or Robinson? Or is this, if you're the general manager,
- 6:22Speaker 2: it is your call. The roster is your call. I
- 6:24Speaker 2: don't care what coach told you to go sign someone.
- 6:27Speaker 2: It is on your ledger. It is either a plus
- 6:30Speaker 2: or a minus. And right now, this free agent class
- 6:33Speaker 2: has been.
- 6:33Speaker 1: A huge minus for the Titans.
- 6:36Speaker 2: And not only that, did you bring in a player
- 6:37Speaker 2: that looks to be a bust already, that was a
- 6:40Speaker 2: big investment at corner in Elante Taylor, because you're the
- 6:43Speaker 2: ones who made him a healthy scratch. You've also brought
- 6:46Speaker 2: in a guy who's crushed the culture of your locker
- 6:48Speaker 2: room with an incident like this.
- 6:50Speaker 1: This is not good. There are people now firing off
- 6:53Speaker 1: reposts of this story across the league, asking the question,
- 6:57Speaker 1: what the hell is going on in Nashville? Chad, with
- 7:00Speaker 1: the Latte Taylor, I don't know specifically if it's performance-based
- 7:04Speaker 1: or if this is discipline. I just don't know. Salah
- 7:09Speaker 1: won't say. He did say it was his decision. He said,
- 7:12Speaker 1: it's just my decision, guys. I'm not going to go
- 7:13Speaker 1: into it. But as far as football decisions, based on
- 7:17Speaker 1: what is publicly stated, and even Burt Nihill said this
- 7:22Speaker 1: last week with Corey Curtis, it is Borgonzi, and he's
- 7:27Speaker 1: running the show. It's him. He has control over the
- 7:30Speaker 1: coaching staff. So, yeah, it would be Borgatti's decision. He
- 7:34Speaker 1: brought in several Kansas City Chiefs players, too, over the
- 7:39Speaker 1: last couple of years. Well, last year and a half. But, yeah,
- 7:42Speaker 1: I mean, time is running out on everyone. I mean,
- 7:46Speaker 1: they can say that everyone's safe and everyone's going to
- 7:48Speaker 1: go into the next year. They're building a culture. They're
- 7:52Speaker 1: building stability. But what stability is growing here? They get
- 7:59Speaker 1: a win, yes, where the secondary has, what, two interceptions.
- 8:02Speaker 1: But I don't view this as a huge step forward
- 8:07Speaker 1: when everything has to go right just to get things
- 8:11Speaker 1: done and get a win. Give them credit for winning
- 8:15Speaker 1: in Indy. They blew up the Colts, but the Colts
- 8:18Speaker 1: are making the right call with ownership, pulling the plug,
- 8:23Speaker 1: and going a different direction. with the general manager and
- 8:27Speaker 1: eventually the coaching staff. Chad, they've got to prove it.
- 8:31Speaker 1: They've got to... They have to... Eventually, they have to
- 8:36Speaker 1: develop the players. And we just haven't seen that. It's
- 8:42Speaker 1: on all of them.
- 8:44Speaker 2: There are no external factors creating this mess.
- 8:46Speaker 1: For the Titans. I will say, though, the offensive line, better. J.C. Latham, better.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So that... I'm trying to figure out what I can
- 8:58Speaker 1: point to as far as development is concerned. But better,
- 9:03Speaker 1: it means what with this team? Well, they're not dominating
- 9:06Speaker 1: on the ground. No. They're not.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I mean, Hutton, you threw this out yesterday from Todd Furman.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Just an incredible stat.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It's nuts.
- 9:14Speaker 2: About Jordan Love had more passing yards on a single
- 9:17Speaker 2: drive than Bo Nix and Cam Ward had in their
- 9:19Speaker 2: entire week six games.
- 9:20Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Both of those quarterbacks won the game, by the way,
- 9:24Speaker 2: in week six also. It's not like they're dominating people
- 9:27Speaker 2: on the ground. It's not like they're throwing for a
- 9:30Speaker 2: ton of yards. I don't even know what the offensive
- 9:32Speaker 2: line production or improvement really means.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I'm not arguing with it. They haven't improved.
- 9:37Speaker 2: They're not a complete train wreck, but I don't think
- 9:39Speaker 2: they're a good offensive line either in.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Terms of NFL standards. I totally agree.
- 9:46Speaker 2: It's just one thing after the next with this team that's, again,
- 9:50Speaker 2: just either terrible or just not good enough for the
- 9:54Speaker 2: NFL and It's one thing to have a talent problem
- 9:58Speaker 2: if you're the general manager. And they shouldn't have this
- 10:01Speaker 2: big of a talent issue now with what Mike Borgonzi's
- 10:04Speaker 2: done and how long he's been here. They should be
- 10:05Speaker 2: better than they are. He's done a bad job too.
- 10:08Speaker 2: But it's another thing to have a talent problem mixed
- 10:10Speaker 2: with a culture problem. When you've got issues like this
- 10:14Speaker 2: happening in the locker room, Now, you know, credit them
- 10:17Speaker 2: for cutting the guy, which I think any NFL team
- 10:20Speaker 2: probably would have done if it wasn't some all-pro.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I mean, do they cut Jeffrey Simmons immediately, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 1: if this is going on? Oh, I think so. I
- 10:30Speaker 1: think probably. They're probably suspending him.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yeah, suspending him, or I don't know if they outright
- 10:34Speaker 2: cut him.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I mean, the suspension is coming as well. Like, there's
- 10:41Speaker 1: the NFL PA part of this, too. But, Chad, do
- 10:44Speaker 1: you bring a firearm at the facility?
- 10:46Speaker 2: No.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I mean, that's not going to fly anywhere in the NFL.
- 10:50Speaker 1: You're right.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Well, it reminds me of the scene in White Men
- 10:53Speaker 2: Can't Jump where the guy in the pickup game says,
- 10:55Speaker 2: I'm going to go back to my car, get my gun,
- 10:57Speaker 2: and shoot everybody's ass. And they all just take off
- 11:00Speaker 2: sprinting away from there. I mean, was that the Titans
- 11:02Speaker 2: locker room? I don't know what the threat actually was,
- 11:06Speaker 2: but it was enough that John Franklin Myers had to
- 11:08Speaker 2: walk to the vehicle with him and try to calm
- 11:10Speaker 2: the dude down and not go in and try to
- 11:11Speaker 2: shoot somebody. Right. It's a wild, wild situation with the Titans.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I mean, top to bottom. But Mike Borgonzi, it's time
- 11:20Speaker 2: for him to be, he needs to be on the
- 11:22Speaker 2: operating table also. If you're going to do emergency surgery
- 11:26Speaker 2: on this organization, the way Carly Ursae Gordon was able
- 11:30Speaker 2: to do that with one Titans win over the Colts
- 11:33Speaker 2: and say, all right, I'm firing the GM. I'm going
- 11:35Speaker 2: to go talk to Peyton Manning. Shane Steichen is next.
- 11:39Speaker 2: You've got to start to look under the hood at
- 11:41Speaker 2: Mike Borgonzi and the job that he's doing.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:44Speaker 2: And he's not above reprieve here. We've talked a lot
- 11:47Speaker 2: about Cam Ward. He's been bad. We've talked a lot
- 11:50Speaker 2: about Robert Sala and his staff. They've been bad. Yes.
- 11:53Speaker 1: You know what else has been bad?
- 11:55Speaker 2: When everybody looks up and says, boy, the Titans just
- 11:57Speaker 2: aren't talented enough.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Well, whose fault is that? It's the general manager's fault. Man,
- 12:03Speaker 1: now everybody on the roster, there's only a couple who
- 12:07Speaker 1: date back very far to other regimes. If you start
- 12:11Speaker 1: to look around this roster, it is Borgonzi and Salah,
- 12:15Speaker 1: or Borgonzi and Callahan. So the free agents are certainly
- 12:21Speaker 1: on them. We know that. The recent draft picks from
- 12:24Speaker 1: 2025 are playing a lot of snaps on the offense.
- 12:31Speaker 1: They inherited a terrible, terrible roster. But what they're doing
- 12:36Speaker 1: to rebuild, they can be judged on that now. We
- 12:39Speaker 1: don't have to wait. It's in the middle. We're in October.
- 12:45Speaker 1: We're not in the middle of OTAs. I don't see
- 12:49Speaker 1: why we can't say we're not seeing enough right now,
- 12:53Speaker 1: especially offensively. Offensively, where are we going with this? It
- 12:59Speaker 1: was abysmal in that first half. The Titans only won
- 13:03Speaker 1: because of a blocked punt touchdown. In that game, right?
- 13:06Speaker 2: That ended up being the difference in the game. So
- 13:08Speaker 2: huge special teams play did it. That's tough to rely
- 13:11Speaker 2: on week in and week out in the NFL to
- 13:13Speaker 2: win a game. Here would be my question to even
- 13:15Speaker 2: the most diehard Titans fan, biggest Cam.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Ward defender going.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Do you feel like that win now propels the Titans
- 13:21Speaker 2: to anything better? Was that the launch point of, okay,
- 13:25Speaker 2: now this team is starting to figure it out. They're
- 13:28Speaker 2: going to win multiple games now moving forward in the NFL.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Do you truly feel that way?
- 13:33Speaker 2: I don't. I don't watch that performance and think, okay,
- 13:36Speaker 2: they figured it out. Cam Ward's going to get it
- 13:39Speaker 2: going now, and they're going to start to be competitive
- 13:41Speaker 2: across the league in every single game. I still think
- 13:44Speaker 2: there are blowouts left on the schedule where they're going
- 13:47Speaker 2: to just show up flat like they did against the
- 13:49Speaker 2: Texans at home and get killed and not be competitive.
- 13:52Speaker 2: I think there's going to be some close losses left.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I think there might be another close win or two
- 13:56Speaker 2: where they get a block punt for a touchdown or
- 13:58Speaker 2: DK runs a kickback. for a touchdown or a punt
- 14:02Speaker 2: or something like that happens, that's likely to happen too.
- 14:05Speaker 2: But what do I think about this organization right now,
- 14:08Speaker 2: top down?
- 14:08Speaker 1: I think it's miserable.
- 14:11Speaker 2: And until the owner, Amy Adam Strunk, decides, hey, you know,
- 14:15Speaker 2: my president and CEO hire hasn't been good enough. Also,
- 14:18Speaker 2: that GM hire hasn't been good enough. And maybe we
- 14:21Speaker 2: need to look at the coaching staff too. And we've
- 14:23Speaker 2: got to reevaluate Cam Ward and his progress or lack thereof.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Until people start to look in the mirror and say,
- 14:29Speaker 2: we're not good enough, you're not good enough, this department's
- 14:32Speaker 2: not good enough, the fans are.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Not rational, none of that.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Until they look in the mirror and say, I'm not
- 14:39Speaker 2: good enough, and we need a change, and that starts
- 14:42Speaker 2: with Amy Adams Strunk, because she's the only one with
- 14:43Speaker 2: the power to do it, to fire whoever she wants,
- 14:47Speaker 2: then we're going to be stuck right here talking about
- 14:49Speaker 2: a great win over the Indianapolis Colts who are terrible
- 14:52Speaker 2: because of a blocked punt.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Chad, the mirror, though, it's hanging up right now in
- 14:57Speaker 1: the new stadium. You do not want to go into
- 14:59Speaker 1: the new stadium and start off slow. Just ask Callahan
- 15:03Speaker 1: last year, going into year two, especially with the start
- 15:07Speaker 1: that we've seen, and who knows what's to come. They
- 15:09Speaker 1: haven't had back-to-back wins since the John Robinson era, since
- 15:13Speaker 1: he was fired. Right before that is when they won
- 15:15Speaker 1: back-to-back games. It was the Green Bay game when the
- 15:19Speaker 1: OC boozed up on the planes. On the flight back.
- 15:24Speaker 1: That's the last time they won back-to-back games. That was
- 15:27Speaker 1: their second win in that streak. It's been a while.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I'd be fine with the whole.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Staff boozing up after a second straight win at this point.
- 15:34Speaker 1: It's been so long, by the way. Not just the OC.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And now they have that opportunity. But they're playing the Browns.
- 15:39Speaker 1: And all of a sudden, the Browns are 4-2. They
- 15:42Speaker 1: just come off a win against Baltimore. And they have
- 15:45Speaker 1: one of the best run defenses in the NFL. They're
- 15:48Speaker 1: going to shut down the run, and can Cam Ward
- 15:50Speaker 1: do anything? Do I have faith in that? No. Why
- 15:53Speaker 1: would I have faith in a team that has to
- 15:55Speaker 1: have 19 points from special teams or defense in order
- 15:58Speaker 1: to win right now? 19 of the 26. That's just... No,
- 16:03Speaker 1: I don't have any faith in the offense moving the
- 16:05Speaker 1: football against this defense.
- 16:06Speaker 2: The Browns are a one-and-a-half point favorite. So in terms
- 16:09Speaker 2: of point spread, this will be one of the greatest
- 16:12Speaker 2: opportunities for the Titans. the remainder of the season, to
- 16:16Speaker 2: win a game. And to get a second straight game
- 16:19Speaker 2: would be big for an organization that hasn't done it.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not going to sit here and talk
- 16:22Speaker 2: about how bad they are and then not also acknowledge, well,
- 16:25Speaker 2: if you can win two straight, at least you've climbed
- 16:28Speaker 2: that mountain, which sounds crazy. But you've tackled Everest at
- 16:32Speaker 2: that point, given how long it's been since you've won
- 16:34Speaker 2: consecutive games. So, I mean, we're about to see if
- 16:37Speaker 2: the response is this is going to be better moving forward.
- 16:40Speaker 2: But I can't help but watch Cam Moore jump around
- 16:42Speaker 2: the sideline celebrating with everyone and think, oh, man, there's
- 16:45Speaker 2: just still so much missing with this team.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Well, he deserves to be able to celebrate with the team,
- 16:51Speaker 1: but there's other accountability that needs to be had. Like,
- 16:55Speaker 1: if you're– Elante Taylor has six games, right? Six games
- 16:59Speaker 1: before you're binging him. And, again, I don't know the
- 17:02Speaker 1: details behind it, specifically the details. I don't know if
- 17:06Speaker 1: something was said. I don't know. But, Chad– You bring
- 17:10Speaker 1: in a guy with that contract to play at corner,
- 17:13Speaker 1: you have to play him a little bit longer than this,
- 17:16Speaker 1: especially after the crap show we just saw with the
- 17:19Speaker 1: previous cornerback and the contract that they handed out for him.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Amy Strunk pays a lot of money to guys that
- 17:26Speaker 1: don't even tend to play or work for the organization
- 17:30Speaker 1: much longer. That's not gold.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I also just think it's a lack of understanding of
- 17:38Speaker 2: what that move means.
- 17:40Speaker 1: If you're Amy Adams-Strunk and you allow it.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Because I'm going to go into the assumption that everything
- 17:43Speaker 2: has to get approved by Burke Nihill and Amy Adams-Strunk.
- 17:46Speaker 2: So to make Elante Taylor a healthy scratch, if I'm
- 17:49Speaker 2: the owner and I'm already pissed off that I'm 0-5
- 17:52Speaker 2: and everything's going on, I'm thinking, so this is the
- 17:54Speaker 2: guy you brought in for $ 53 million to be the
- 17:56Speaker 2: star cornerback, and you're telling me he sucks? And he
- 18:00Speaker 2: already needs to be a healthy scratch? I think they
- 18:02Speaker 2: can make those moves, but they can't bitch-cam Ward. That's
- 18:07Speaker 2: what kills me, though, is you should also be asking
- 18:10Speaker 2: the question about, this is the star free agent on defense,
- 18:14Speaker 2: and you're benching him. But there's no question about that.
- 18:17Speaker 2: They get to do that. They get to make that move. Which,
- 18:19Speaker 2: by the way, I want them to have every decision-making
- 18:21Speaker 2: ability possible. If you're the head coach and you want
- 18:23Speaker 2: to make a move to try to get better, go
- 18:25Speaker 2: ahead and do it. Bench Elante Taylor. The same should
- 18:27Speaker 2: be said for Cam Ward, if you feel like it
- 18:31Speaker 2: makes the team better. But I'm with you, Hutton. I
- 18:32Speaker 2: don't think that's an option for this coaching staff.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Bill Belichick. A story coming up with Bill Belichick and
- 18:41Speaker 1: our friend Don Davenport with ESPN and 104.5 The Zone
- 18:45Speaker 1: and how he ghosted her in a recent run-in with Bill. Oh,
- 18:50Speaker 1: story time as well with Withrow.
- 18:53Speaker 2: This will parlay. We've got our going for the bundle
- 18:55Speaker 2: parlay later. This story will parlay into two different names
- 19:00Speaker 2: for me. Urban Meyer and Aaron Andrews. And both are classic.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I don't know which one I like more or find
- 19:06Speaker 2: the best.
- 19:08Speaker 1: That's next. You're on Honey With Row.
- 19:09Speaker 3: This year, the party's getting even bigger.

- 20:25Speaker 2: a Dave Chappelle review. They played Nashville last night at
- 20:29Speaker 2: Bridgestone Arena, and the Vols setting a noise record at
- 20:33Speaker 2: Neyland Stadium.
- 20:34Speaker 1: But Chad, first, I have not seen this yet. I'm
- 20:38Speaker 1: Excited to actually watch this because I want to hear
- 20:40Speaker 1: the story from Don Davenport, a good friend, who you
- 20:43Speaker 1: were listening or watching, I don't know which one, to
- 20:46Speaker 1: 3HL and heard this story told live.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I'm amazed this story has not been picked up and
- 20:53Speaker 2: covered by more people because of all of the kerfluffle
- 20:57Speaker 2: over Holly Rowe and Steve Sarkeesian and that whole deal.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Great point.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And then what that sparked with. Holly Roe, she's too self-important.
- 21:05Speaker 2: She's out there acting like she's been offended all the
- 21:08Speaker 2: time if someone's not there to answer her questions in
- 21:10Speaker 2: full immediately. And a coach comes up to celebrate with
- 21:13Speaker 2: a player or another player. Oh, during the interview, they're
- 21:16Speaker 2: going to do this. Just all this stuff and how
- 21:19Speaker 2: bad it makes Holly Roe look. I'm surprised this hasn't
- 21:22Speaker 2: gotten more coverage, especially when it's Bill Belichick. Now, some
- 21:26Speaker 2: would say, okay, it's Bill Belichick when you hear this story.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Of course not. Bill Belichick did this. He does this
- 21:32Speaker 2: to everybody. This is his demeanor with the media. I
- 21:36Speaker 2: think that this takes it to a new level. I
- 21:38Speaker 2: was in my truck going to pick up or take
- 21:41Speaker 2: one of my kids somewhere.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I don't remember.
- 21:43Speaker 2: And I had it on our old friends at 3HL
- 21:45Speaker 2: on 104.5 The Zone. And I hear Don Davenport say,
- 21:50Speaker 2: you want me to go into the story? To launch
- 21:52Speaker 2: into it about her coverage on the sideline for ESPN
- 21:57Speaker 2: of the North Carolina Duke game. I'll let our friend
- 21:59Speaker 2: Don Davenport take it from here.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I texted him afterwards, and I was like, dude, Jonathan Brewer.
- 22:05Speaker 1: How was Belichick?
- 22:06Speaker 4: Oh, would you like me to tell that story? I'd
- 22:09Speaker 4: be happy to tell that story.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I mean, I'd sometimes bring things up, even though I
- 22:13Speaker 1: know the answer.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't. I need to know.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, you don't know.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you have an urn. Okay.
- 22:18Speaker 4: So now listen, let me preface this with I have
- 22:22Speaker 4: no relationship with Bill Belichick. This is the first time
- 22:25Speaker 4: I've ever covered him as a professional ever, like ever
- 22:30Speaker 4: met the man.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Right.
- 22:31Speaker 4: So we have zero rapport and zero relationship.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Fine.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Talk to him before the game. He's fine. I'll just
- 22:39Speaker 4: say he's fine before the game. But I like wanted
- 22:42Speaker 4: to meet him in person, see if there were any
- 22:44Speaker 4: changes on his starting lineup, all of that. So we talked.
- 22:48Speaker 4: I have the first quarter, after the first quarter, interview
- 22:51Speaker 4: with him. I'm like, this ought to be fun. He
- 22:53Speaker 4: was great. Phenomenal. Answered my question. Wasn't short. Was great.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Did he say on to Cincinnati?
- 23:00Speaker 4: No, he did not. So then Carolina wins. They win
- 23:04Speaker 4: the victory bell for the first time in three years.
- 23:06Speaker 4: This is massive. First time for Bill. Tight game.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Down to the wire.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Awesome game, right? So they're three and two now, by
- 23:13Speaker 4: the way, the, the studio that are at ESPN, they're like,
- 23:17Speaker 4: you guys are heavy, but if you can get bill,
- 23:21Speaker 4: then great. Like we'll do, we'll stay with you. We'll
- 23:23Speaker 4: do a post game interview and we'll skip studio stuff.
- 23:26Speaker 4: So I asked Carolina staff and they're like, absolutely.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:30Speaker 4: So we're okay.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Great.
- 23:31Speaker 4: We're getting coach. So I follow him. I stalk him
- 23:34Speaker 4: out to the middle. And I know how he is.
- 23:36Speaker 4: So I let him, I give him his space to
- 23:38Speaker 4: do his handshake and all of that. And so then
- 23:41Speaker 4: he's done handshaking Manny Diaz, the quarterback over there or whatever.
- 23:46Speaker 4: So he's just standing there. So I step up next
- 23:48Speaker 4: to him. My camera is there. And they're about to
- 23:51Speaker 4: toss to me because he's standing right next to me.
- 23:54Speaker 4: And he's like just looking around and kind of walks away.
- 23:57Speaker 4: And I was like, coach, coach. And his handler, yes,
- 24:02Speaker 4: has one. His handler goes, Don, he's not going to
- 24:06Speaker 4: do it. I know this body language. He's not doing it.
- 24:10Speaker 4: And I go, what do you mean he's not doing it?
- 24:11Speaker 4: He's standing right here. He goes, Don, he's not doing it.
- 24:15Speaker 4: So I, of course, step right up to coach. I'm like, hey, coach, like, like.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Right in his face. Like he can hear me because
- 24:24Speaker 4: sometimes that's his shtick is he's like, oh, I can't
- 24:26Speaker 4: hear you. When he can hear everything. But so I
- 24:29Speaker 4: step right next to him. I'm like, hey, coach, are
- 24:32Speaker 4: you not going to do this interview or are you
- 24:34Speaker 4: good with it? Like, just tell me.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Looks over my head, does not respond to me.
- 24:40Speaker 1: No response.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Like I did not even exist in his personal space
- 24:45Speaker 4: at that moment. Not a word, not even a no, nothing.
- 24:50Speaker 4: It was like nobody was talking to him and nobody
- 24:53Speaker 4: was standing two inches from him. It was just like, Whatever.
- 24:57Speaker 4: And then he's just like walking around. So then the
- 24:59Speaker 4: boys are starting to toss to me and I'm like,
- 25:01Speaker 4: don't do it. We're about to have a Holly Roe
- 25:03Speaker 4: moment again.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I'm like, don't do it because he ain't.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Doing this interview. So, yeah. And then he just like
- 25:10Speaker 4: walks off. Never even acknowledged my existence at the end
- 25:14Speaker 4: of the game. And I looked at it as at
- 25:17Speaker 4: his S.I.D. and he was like, sorry. I'm like, dude,
- 25:20Speaker 4: that's that's bonk.
- 25:22Speaker 1: That is bonk. This is after a win.
- 25:24Speaker 4: This is after a win.
- 25:25Speaker 3: After a win.
- 25:26Speaker 4: So then I thought about it because I was like,
- 25:28Speaker 4: I'm writing Bill a letter. This is bonk. Just tell me.
- 25:33Speaker 1: And I get it.
- 25:33Speaker 4: I have no relationship with you. That's fine. But just
- 25:36Speaker 4: tell me. Just say no. And I'll go get somebody
- 25:39Speaker 4: else in time for the broadcast. But then at that point,
- 25:42Speaker 4: then I couldn't get anybody else. It was too late.
- 25:45Speaker 4: So I'm like, just tell me no, dude. And so
- 25:48Speaker 4: then I started thinking about it. And I was like, well...
- 25:52Speaker 4: It was like a joyous moment. I mean, the bell
- 25:54Speaker 4: is going back. That rivalry, I know it's football.
- 25:56Speaker 1: That's the biggest moment he's had since he's been there.
- 26:00Speaker 4: By far, and it's not even close.
- 26:01Speaker 1: That's why he should have done the interview.
- 26:03Speaker 4: That's why he should have done it. But then I'm like,
- 26:05Speaker 4: he doesn't want to show that joy. He's got a
- 26:08Speaker 4: reputation to uphold. So it's much better for me to
- 26:12Speaker 4: come back and be like, what a rude jerk. you know,
- 26:15Speaker 4: and his reputation is intact, right? So I just think
- 26:20Speaker 4: he didn't want to show joy to, like, the masses
- 26:23Speaker 4: that they actually won a very important game. So he
- 26:27Speaker 4: was like, I'm just going to ignore.
- 26:28Speaker 3: That little blonde over there in my face.
- 26:30Speaker 1: That's what I was expecting.
- 26:31Speaker 4: Is that not crazy, though? So, of course, you know,
- 26:33Speaker 4: I get pissy because I'm like, I just want just respect.
- 26:37Speaker 2: That's it.
- 26:38Speaker 4: Like, it's fine. You don't have to like me, and
- 26:40Speaker 4: you can tell me no, and I'll still be annoyed,
- 26:43Speaker 4: but I get it, right?
- 26:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:45Speaker 4: But like to act like I don't even exist. I'm like,
- 26:47Speaker 4: come on, Bill.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Come on, Bill. Does he do that just for entertainment purposes?
- 26:54Speaker 1: But that's crazy to not acknowledge someone after acknowledging her
- 26:59Speaker 1: throughout the game. Chad, I'm glad you played that because that's, man,
- 27:04Speaker 1: that is weak. That is weak.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Totally weak move by Bill Belichick. Someone very wise once said,
- 27:11Speaker 2: and everybody should follow this advice. It's free to be nice.
- 27:15Speaker 2: It costs you nothing to be nice to someone or
- 27:18Speaker 2: at least acknowledge that they're a person.
- 27:20Speaker 1: For Bill Belichick to.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Look over her head and to not even acknowledge she's
- 27:24Speaker 2: two inches from him asking him a question politely if
- 27:27Speaker 2: he's going to do his interview post-game or not and
- 27:30Speaker 2: to have his own personal handler that's his muscle basically saying,
- 27:33Speaker 2: I'm so sorry. Bill's not going to do it. Bill's
- 27:37Speaker 2: not going to do the interview today. Just completely crazy
- 27:41Speaker 2: behavior to me. And it's not something... I don't think
- 27:44Speaker 2: it's something that should be just laughed off. And look,
- 27:46Speaker 2: she had a good sense of humor about it and
- 27:48Speaker 2: everything else. But I believe when people treat other people
- 27:51Speaker 2: that way, right up close in person to them, there
- 27:55Speaker 2: should be consequences for behavior like that. That is not
- 27:58Speaker 2: how you treat someone. It would have been very easy
- 28:01Speaker 2: just to say, hey, I'm going to go celebrate with
- 28:03Speaker 2: my guys. I'm not going to do an interview today,
- 28:05Speaker 2: but thank you for asking. There's a lot of ways
- 28:07Speaker 2: you can say no and be polite about it. But
- 28:11Speaker 2: to act like a human being standing in front of
- 28:13Speaker 2: you does not exist and is not there.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm surprised.
- 28:17Speaker 2: With Steve Sarkeesian and Holly Rowe, at least he acknowledged
- 28:20Speaker 2: her as a person post-game during the interview.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Yeah, he was fun.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Bill Belichick didn't even acknowledge that a human was standing
- 28:26Speaker 2: in front of him with Don.
- 28:27Speaker 1: And it's after a win, which is odd, just odd.
- 28:31Speaker 1: And Belichick is known for this, like New England, the
- 28:34Speaker 1: one-word answers, on to Cincinnati, all these different things. But
- 28:40Speaker 1: he did the depressor, you know? He acknowledged the question
- 28:44Speaker 1: that was being asked to him, even though he was
- 28:47Speaker 1: more of a grunt than a speaking English. But... Does
- 28:52Speaker 1: he do this just for his own entertainment? It's like
- 28:55Speaker 1: a fetish.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Again, Don's not going to Manny Diaz after Duke lost.
- 29:03Speaker 2: No head coach is getting interviewed the moment after a
- 29:05Speaker 2: loss on the field. You've got the Super Bowl losing
- 29:08Speaker 2: coach tunnel interview that happens every year.
- 29:11Speaker 1: You've got press conferences.
- 29:12Speaker 2: You've got to take everything in and go speak to
- 29:15Speaker 2: the media where you can prepare yourself a little bit
- 29:17Speaker 2: more post-game. It's not like she's sticking the mic in
- 29:20Speaker 2: his face and, Coach, you lost another huge game.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Tell us about it.
- 29:24Speaker 2: She's trying to get him on camera to talk about
- 29:28Speaker 2: how well his guys played or how big the win
- 29:30Speaker 2: was or whatever it was. Look, I know Bill Belichick's
- 29:33Speaker 2: not going to sit there and do the gritty as
- 29:35Speaker 2: he celebrates the win with Don or any of these
- 29:38Speaker 2: AI videos that we've seen with I still can't stop watching,
- 29:41Speaker 2: of all the coaches. Now the new one is all
- 29:44Speaker 2: the coaches doing the Napoleon Dynamite dance, starting with Dabo.
- 29:48Speaker 1: It's amazing. I'll send it to you.
- 29:49Speaker 2: But it's not like we expect him to go over
- 29:52Speaker 2: the top celebrating.
- 29:53Speaker 1: No.
- 29:54Speaker 2: But you can sit there and answer a couple of
- 29:55Speaker 2: questions and get right back to it.
- 29:57Speaker 1: And he did it earlier. Or you could just say no.
- 30:00Speaker 2: No, I'm not going to do the interview with ESPN
- 30:02Speaker 2: or with you. At least then, if I'm Don, I'm thinking, well,
- 30:06Speaker 2: at least he acknowledged that I was here.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And he spoke to her earlier in the game. That's
- 30:11Speaker 1: the other part of this.
- 30:13Speaker 2: There's been a lot of– I heard another account of–
- 30:17Speaker 2: I think it was– is it Katie George maybe? During
- 30:20Speaker 2: the game when we were in Oxford, they played Clemson.
- 30:24Speaker 2: And there was, I think it was Katie George. Lutz
- 30:27Speaker 2: knows all the ESPN people better than I do. If
- 30:29Speaker 2: it's Katie George, tell me Lutz at some point. Anyway,
- 30:32Speaker 2: he's on the sideline. And he does this thing now
- 30:34Speaker 2: where he acts like he can't hear you.
- 30:36Speaker 1: It is Katie.
- 30:37Speaker 2: If you're talking to him. And I think Don kind
- 30:39Speaker 2: of mentioned that. So it's like, oh, he's pretending not
- 30:42Speaker 2: to hear me even though I'm right here. But he
- 30:44Speaker 2: definitely hears me. He's looking over the top of me.
- 30:46Speaker 2: He's doing an interview with Katie George and he's just like, huh?
- 30:50Speaker 4: Huh?
- 30:51Speaker 2: After everything, it's not even loud. After everything she asked,
- 30:55Speaker 2: and then just very dismissive of it, completely odd television
- 30:59Speaker 2: from Bill Belichick. But this is not new, and I
- 31:01Speaker 2: heard Katie George, I think it was Katie George again,
- 31:04Speaker 2: in an interview talking about it, and I remember her
- 31:06Speaker 2: explaining that he was very nice in the week leading up,
- 31:10Speaker 2: was very gracious at the facility or talking to the
- 31:13Speaker 2: broadcast team off camera, and then it was like a
- 31:16Speaker 2: totally different Bill Belichick in the moment on camera.
- 31:20Speaker 1: And maybe Don's right.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Maybe he's got a reputation to uphold, and he's just
- 31:23Speaker 2: trying to uphold that reputation.
- 31:25Speaker 1: The character, yeah. Maybe it's that. Chad, but at least
- 31:28Speaker 1: your two stories, which are classics, all-time classics, at least
- 31:33Speaker 1: in your case, both people spoke to you.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Well, I'm going to go first to my experience with
- 31:40Speaker 2: Urban Meyer. As a young producer of a show in Nashville,
- 31:45Speaker 2: we're at the College Football Coaches Convention at The wonderful
- 31:48Speaker 2: Opryland Hotel, beautiful place. I'm walking through the Magnolia area.
- 31:52Speaker 2: I'm going through the fountains where they're doing our show.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Matt Brown is fresh off the national championship with Vince Young.
- 31:59Speaker 2: So this is probably late January 2006 after the 2005 season.
- 32:05Speaker 2: This is the start of Urban Meyer building a juggernaut.
- 32:09Speaker 2: It was the next year that he was going to
- 32:10Speaker 2: win the national title with Chris Leak and then a
- 32:13Speaker 2: backup quarterback by the name of Tim Tebow. We're all
- 32:16Speaker 2: in this ballroom. We are interviewing Mack Brown. We're interviewing
- 32:19Speaker 2: Phillip Fulmer, who was at the height of his time
- 32:22Speaker 2: there in Knoxville. All these great coaches are walking around
- 32:25Speaker 2: the ballroom doing interviews with us because we're the only
- 32:28Speaker 2: show that's there that had access to it or anything.
- 32:31Speaker 1: So in between sessions.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Many of them are Mack Brown, as you would imagine,
- 32:35Speaker 2: as polite as can be, like this old Southern senator.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'll sit down with you. Where are you guys?
- 32:41Speaker 2: Okay, comes right over when he said he was. Phillip
- 32:43Speaker 2: Fulmer joins us. sweethearts of men. All of these guys,
- 32:47Speaker 2: these coaches, they're in a good mood. The season's over.
- 32:50Speaker 2: They don't have to worry about kicking off for nine
- 32:52Speaker 2: months at this point, right? We're in off-season mode a
- 32:55Speaker 2: little bit, worried about recruiting. Everybody's in a good mood.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Until I get to Fox Sports' Urban Meyer, currently now
- 33:02Speaker 2: of Fox Sports. Urban Meyer is standing with two women.
- 33:08Speaker 2: I don't know who one of them is. The other one,
- 33:10Speaker 2: I assume, is the SID at Florida. He's in the
- 33:12Speaker 2: ballroom talking to these two women And then another coach
- 33:15Speaker 2: is talking to him.
- 33:16Speaker 1: The two women are not speaking.
- 33:19Speaker 2: They're just standing there, not saying a word, not looking
- 33:22Speaker 2: Urban Meyer in the eye the whole time. I am awaiting,
- 33:26Speaker 2: as you would, and keep in mind, I'm 23, almost
- 33:27Speaker 2: 24 years old.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I'm terrified.
- 33:32Speaker 2: To talk to some of these guys when you're starting
- 33:33Speaker 2: out in the business.
- 33:34Speaker 1: You don't want to bother them. You don't want to
- 33:36Speaker 1: bug them.
- 33:37Speaker 2: But it's my job to go and do things that
- 33:40Speaker 2: are uncomfortable to me by approaching very successful coaches that
- 33:43Speaker 2: are much older than me and asking them to do interviews.
- 33:45Speaker 1: So I get the job. I know what the job is.
- 33:48Speaker 1: I'm always very polite.
- 33:50Speaker 2: I'm waiting on Urban Meyer to finish up talking to
- 33:52Speaker 2: the coach that he's talking to.
- 33:55Speaker 1: They shake hands. Coach walks away.
- 33:57Speaker 2: I say, here's my entry point. here's my chance to
- 34:00Speaker 2: go ask her.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I walk up and I say, Hey coach, I didn't
- 34:04Speaker 2: say herb. I didn't call a Meyer. This is not
- 34:07Speaker 2: like Bobby Knight choking the kid for calling him night
- 34:10Speaker 2: on campus. When he passed by as I would with
- 34:13Speaker 2: any coach, I showed them the respect. I said, Hey coach,
- 34:16Speaker 2: my name's Chad with row. I'm with one Oh four, five,
- 34:19Speaker 2: the zone. I extend my hand at this point. He
- 34:21Speaker 2: is looking at my hand laser focused on the hint,
- 34:25Speaker 2: refusing to shake it. So I'm thinking this is not
- 34:28Speaker 2: going well.
- 34:29Speaker 1: To start.
- 34:30Speaker 2: So I'm introducing myself. Refusing to shake your hand. Refusing
- 34:33Speaker 2: to shake my hand. Just looking at it like you've
- 34:36Speaker 2: extended your hand. I'm not going to shake it.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Wow.
- 34:38Speaker 2: And then I put the hand back and I'm like, anyway,
- 34:41Speaker 2: we're right over here, 20 feet from you doing interviews.
- 34:45Speaker 2: George Plaster and the fellas were wondering if you'd like
- 34:48Speaker 2: to hop on or you had any time to do it.
- 34:50Speaker 2: And he cuts me off as I'm asking him and
- 34:52Speaker 2: he says, can't you see I'm talking to people here?
- 34:56Speaker 2: And I said, Well, I apologize. That's why I waited
- 35:01Speaker 2: until you were done talking to the other coach. I'm
- 35:03Speaker 2: here with other people, too. And, I mean, these two
- 35:06Speaker 2: women are staring daggers through me, not saying a word.
- 35:10Speaker 1: They're not talking. Wow.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Just looking at me like he's trained robots, that he
- 35:17Speaker 2: has them staring blazer beams through me the whole time.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Like, yeah, dude, go away.
- 35:21Speaker 2: And I said, okay, my bad, and walked away and just,
- 35:26Speaker 2: you know, tuck my tail and walk back.
- 35:29Speaker 1: To the podcast spot where I was. We've done the
- 35:32Speaker 1: Super Bowl together where it's kind of the same thing.
- 35:35Speaker 1: The first time I'm doing it, I'm thinking, man, you
- 35:39Speaker 1: feel like you did something wrong if they say no.
- 35:43Speaker 1: You have to go tell your boss or your host.
- 35:47Speaker 1: that you didn't get what they wanted, you know? You
- 35:49Speaker 1: don't have the next coach lined up for the next
- 35:52Speaker 1: segment or whatever. Yeah, I mean, to not shake your
- 35:54Speaker 1: hand is odd. I mean, it's rude.
- 35:58Speaker 2: It's deplorable behavior. I mean, let's say what it is. Like,
- 36:02Speaker 2: it's awful behavior. And I'm sure he's done that to
- 36:04Speaker 2: a lot of people, and a lot of other people
- 36:06Speaker 2: have the story, so I'm not special when it came
- 36:08Speaker 2: to that. It's just completely unnecessary. He could have easily
- 36:11Speaker 2: told me no. Was it Sterling Sharp one year at
- 36:14Speaker 2: the Super Bowl? Hutton, that either you or me asked
- 36:16Speaker 2: him about coming over, and he's like, huh, Nashville, no thanks.
- 36:20Speaker 2: But he looked at our credential and was like, yeah, Nashville,
- 36:24Speaker 2: no thanks, buddy.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Not going to interview with you. It may have been.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I remember Warren Sapp walked by once and looked at
- 36:32Speaker 1: the table and it said Nashville, and he just rolled
- 36:33Speaker 1: his eyes. I remember that. That was a long time ago.
- 36:37Speaker 1: We're talking early 2000, the odds, 2008-2009.
- 36:43Speaker 2: He was also our fearless leader, Clay Travis, who got
- 36:45Speaker 2: the interview with Warren Sapp one time.
- 36:51Speaker 1: What has Ray Lewis ever done wrong? What has he
- 36:53Speaker 1: done wrong?
- 36:54Speaker 2: Warren Sapp asked, and Clay said, minus the double murder?
- 36:58Speaker 2: And started a whole thing with Warren Sapp, which was
- 37:01Speaker 2: classic Clay and perfect timing by him. Second story, Hutton,
- 37:06Speaker 2: in the story time that I'll get into. Everybody to
- 37:09Speaker 2: this day still brings up Aaron Andrews to me. And
- 37:11Speaker 2: if we're on good terms or cool, I will say
- 37:14Speaker 2: that like, as the years have passed, I hold no
- 37:17Speaker 2: bad feelings or ill will towards Aaron Andrews, who did
- 37:21Speaker 2: indeed one time asked me at a table full of
- 37:24Speaker 2: people in Manhattan, who the F are you in front
- 37:28Speaker 2: of everyone? Because I dare to speak at this table. Now,
- 37:32Speaker 2: the real part of this story is what rumor we
- 37:35Speaker 2: were talking about, which I will never unveil publicly. But
- 37:38Speaker 2: we were discussing a very prominent rumor across the NFL
- 37:43Speaker 2: at a table. John Lynch is there. Fox execs are there.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Clay Travis is there. He's the reason I'm sitting at
- 37:50Speaker 2: this table because we were hanging out. I think it
- 37:52Speaker 2: was the Peninsula Hotel in Manhattan. We're hanging out at
- 37:55Speaker 2: the bar. Erin Andrews walks by from the bathroom. Her
- 37:58Speaker 2: and Clay are buddies. Says hello to Clay. Introduces me
- 38:01Speaker 2: to Erin.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Very nice. Hey, great. Good seeing you guys. Nice to
- 38:05Speaker 1: meet you.
- 38:05Speaker 2: We're sitting right over there if you guys want to join.
- 38:08Speaker 2: So she walks away. Clay's like, should we go join them?
- 38:10Speaker 1: Absolutely. Let's go join.
- 38:12Speaker 2: So we pull up a couple of chairs, this long
- 38:14Speaker 2: dinner table. Post-dinner, everybody's having drinks. Everybody's having a good time.
- 38:18Speaker 2: And we're discussing this rumor that And then everybody at
- 38:22Speaker 2: the table, it's like, you know, you're passing the conch, right?
- 38:24Speaker 2: Everybody's got their story about this rumor and what they've heard.
- 38:29Speaker 2: And so people are freely speaking. This is not, there's
- 38:32Speaker 2: no mics there. No one's going to report this, right?
- 38:35Speaker 2: Passing the conch. And then finally, I dare to speak
- 38:39Speaker 2: and start to tell a story. And Aaron Andrews, I mean,
- 38:42Speaker 2: not eight words into my story says, I'm sorry, hold
- 38:45Speaker 2: on a second.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Who the F are you?
- 38:48Speaker 2: And the whole table just uproariously starts laughing at me,
- 38:51Speaker 2: pointing down at the end of the table. And I'm like, hey,
- 38:53Speaker 2: I'm the guy you just met at the bar with
- 38:56Speaker 2: Clay Travis.
- 38:57Speaker 1: I'm his friend.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Nobody hears my response because everybody's too busy laughing at
- 39:01Speaker 2: Aaron's hilarious joke that she just made at my expense.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Was it embarrassing? Yes, 100% embarrassing. Do I hold bad
- 39:11Speaker 2: feelings toward her? No, because the likelihood was, A, she
- 39:15Speaker 2: was drunk. and B, that she was just making a joke.
- 39:20Speaker 2: She's that type of person that gives it back to
- 39:22Speaker 2: people and does this. She didn't know me at the time,
- 39:25Speaker 2: which was a little bit odd, but I'm really not
- 39:27Speaker 2: mad at Erin Andrews.
- 39:29Speaker 1: I think she does good work. I would love to
- 39:31Speaker 1: have Erin Andrews.
- 39:32Speaker 2: On this show at some point and bury the hatchet
- 39:35Speaker 2: and tell the story and get her response to it,
- 39:38Speaker 2: and if she even remembers it. But, yeah, great night
- 39:41Speaker 2: in New York City, Hunt, in a city that never sleeps.
- 39:43Speaker 2: There's another part. There's more to this story. Clay wrote
- 39:47Speaker 2: about it.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. It posted it on the site. That was the.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Start of the wedge between Paul Kowarski and Clay Travis.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Paul was like, I've got your back on this. He
- 39:58Speaker 2: shouldn't have written about that without your permission. Which I said,
- 40:02Speaker 2: I would have preferred he texted me and said, I'm
- 40:05Speaker 2: going to write about this in a column. That said,
- 40:07Speaker 2: I would have told him to do it. I didn't care.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I was fine with him writing that story. Clay knows
- 40:13Speaker 2: what to write and what not to write about different things.
- 40:17Speaker 2: I trust his ability to decipher what he's going to
- 40:21Speaker 2: write about a friend or what he isn't right so
- 40:24Speaker 2: yeah i would have preferred i got asked but i
- 40:26Speaker 2: also didn't care and that started a big fight between
- 40:29Speaker 2: paul and clay at some point about him not asking
- 40:31Speaker 2: my permission for it so i.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Googled i tried to google the story i can't find
- 40:36Speaker 1: it on on that that quickly it's it exists somewhere
- 40:40Speaker 1: it's in the it's in the ether jab I think
- 40:43Speaker 1: my favorite is the Aaron Andrews.
- 40:45Speaker 2: It probably got nuked by Fox and Outkick.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Maybe, maybe. Because once they bought the website.
- 40:50Speaker 2: I'm assuming they got rid of that story to protect EA.
- 40:54Speaker 1: That's fair. My favorite is Aaron Andrews, but it tells
- 40:57Speaker 1: you a lot about the person of Urban Meyer. It's
- 41:01Speaker 1: just so intentional. It's rude, but it's intentional. It's not
- 41:05Speaker 1: a one-off is what I mean. I bet he does
- 41:07Speaker 1: that a thousand times. He's still doing it, I bet.
- 41:11Speaker 2: I can't even believe him when he's like looking like
- 41:13Speaker 2: he's trying to have fun. You know, when they joke,
- 41:16Speaker 2: the Fox show jokes a lot with each other and
- 41:18Speaker 2: they're kind of slapping arms and Mark Ingram and Matt
- 41:21Speaker 2: Leiner have a good rapport and everybody acts like they're buddy, buddy.
- 41:24Speaker 2: And I'm thinking even when Urban is, he looks so uncomfortable,
- 41:29Speaker 2: so uncomfortable, cracking a smile or laughing. He's got his
- 41:33Speaker 2: transition lenses on. He's not, you know, I can see
- 41:35Speaker 2: in his eyes through them. He looks completely uncomfortable being
- 41:39Speaker 2: a human being.
- 41:41Speaker 1: I think he has great points. I enjoy his commentary,
- 41:46Speaker 1: but I don't enjoy it.
- 41:47Speaker 2: He knows more football than either one of us will
- 41:50Speaker 2: ever know.
- 41:50Speaker 1: There's no doubt. His knowledge is elite.
- 41:54Speaker 2: When he can talk about it, he's a good communicator
- 41:56Speaker 2: of his points that he brings up.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I think he's good on that show. I do, too.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I've got no problems with him. Nick Saban has more
- 42:04Speaker 2: fun than Urban Meyer. I can buy Nick Saban and
- 42:07Speaker 2: Pat McAfee get along, and I can buy Nick Saban
- 42:10Speaker 2: the jokester, even when I watch the documentary. I can't
- 42:13Speaker 2: buy Urban Meyer even telling a joke or truly having
- 42:17Speaker 2: a good time.
- 42:18Speaker 1: McAfee makes Saban so much better. Yeah. It brings out
- 42:22Speaker 1: the personality in him. There's no way McAfee would get
- 42:26Speaker 1: that out of Urban Meyer. I take that back.
- 42:28Speaker 2: I have seen Urban Meyer truly have fun at a
- 42:30Speaker 2: sports bar in Ohio.
- 42:32Speaker 1: One time on video. Yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 2: That's the one time I can recall Urban Meyer being
- 42:37Speaker 2: a human being.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Yes.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Was when he was having a great time that night
- 42:41Speaker 2: on video at that sports bar.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Hey, coming up, primary complaint. Even then he wasn't smiling, though. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:48Speaker 1: he wasn't. You're right. Looked very serious about the act.
- 42:51Speaker 1: It was a business decision. It was, yeah. Hey, coming up,
- 42:55Speaker 1: primary complaint. Sunday Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bat. Going
- 43:00Speaker 1: down memory lane with Chad. Perfect. It was a perfect take.
- 43:02Speaker 1: So is a perfect 10 mortgage. The name says it all.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Apply 10 minutes, close in 10 days. 10 in 10
- 43:09Speaker 1: for perfect 10. A mortgage that's simple, fast, and fair.
- 43:11Speaker 1: 10 minutes, start to finish, right from your phone. No
- 43:14Speaker 1: stack of paperwork and no sitting across a desk from
- 43:17Speaker 1: a banker who's talking down to you. That's right.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Perfect 10. And what they're going to tell you, Hutton,
- 43:22Speaker 2: is date the rate and marry the house. Put it
- 43:24Speaker 2: on a t-shirt. Remember it however you need to remember it.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Get out of credit card debt. And if you're buying
- 43:29Speaker 2: new construction, ask about the builder program. Builder-funded rate buy-downs
- 43:32Speaker 2: can get you a rate the bank can't even print.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Date the rate. Marry the house.
- 43:36Speaker 2: Straight talk on what you actually qualify for. Built for
- 43:39Speaker 2: real people, not paperwork. Perfect10Mortgage. com or call them at 855-789-1010.
- 43:43Speaker 2: That's Perfect10Mortgage. com. Perfect10 Mortgage is an equal housing lender. Perfect10
- 43:48Speaker 2: Mortgage is a DBA or network funding LP. NMLS number 2297.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Equal housing lender. All borrowers must qualify. This advertisement is
- 43:55Speaker 2: not a promise to make alone.
- 43:57Speaker 1: It is time for primary complaint. And guys, I'm kicking
- 44:02Speaker 1: it off with last night at Chappelle. If you're going
- 44:07Speaker 1: to not allow cell phones or any Bluetooth device, why
- 44:13Speaker 1: is it a ticketless event where you have to bring
- 44:16Speaker 1: your phone in order to enter the building? That's my
- 44:20Speaker 1: primary complaint. I would have left my phone at home, Chad,
- 44:26Speaker 1: and just walked. and not even have to deal with anything.
- 44:29Speaker 1: But you have to be able to get to the building.
- 44:31Speaker 1: So you have to carry this thing around with you
- 44:35Speaker 1: the entire night. It's not ideal. It doesn't fit in
- 44:38Speaker 1: my pocket. So they put it like, is it in
- 44:40Speaker 1: like a little lockbox thing? It's like in a little
- 44:42Speaker 1: bag that's like a magnetic clip or something that you
- 44:45Speaker 1: can't open until you leave the building and they unlock
- 44:49Speaker 1: it for you. I mean... It's like one of those things,
- 44:52Speaker 1: those black plastic things that are on your clothes if
- 44:56Speaker 1: you're shopping. Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Why can't they just tell everyone in advance, if you
- 45:00Speaker 2: don't want to bring your phone, don't bring it.
- 45:01Speaker 1: If you don't want to deal with this. But you
- 45:03Speaker 1: have to be able to get to the building. That's
- 45:04Speaker 1: my ticket. Oh, that's okay. I got you. You have
- 45:07Speaker 1: to carry these things around. It forces you to. I
- 45:09Speaker 1: would prefer to have something else and leave my phone
- 45:12Speaker 1: at home so I don't have to be this little
- 45:14Speaker 1: baggy all night.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I do like Dave Chappelle. We're going to get to
- 45:18Speaker 2: your review of the show soon. But I do like
- 45:21Speaker 2: that Dave Chappelle is so committed to people not being
- 45:24Speaker 2: stuck on their phones. Yeah. I mean, this is a
- 45:27Speaker 2: commitment to the bit, unlike anything else, that you have
- 45:30Speaker 2: to do this. One of the few times I can
- 45:32Speaker 2: remember having to do this, we saw Chris Rock at Zany's,
- 45:36Speaker 2: and it was a show for like 150 people, 200 people,
- 45:39Speaker 2: whatever that room fits. Very small venue where he was
- 45:42Speaker 2: trying out material that was eventually going to be an
- 45:45Speaker 2: HBO or a Netflix special, I think a Netflix special.
- 45:47Speaker 2: So he even stumbled during the middle of the thing, like, oh,
- 45:51Speaker 2: I lost.
- 45:51Speaker 1: My train of thought. Where was I?
- 45:52Speaker 2: And he'd look down at his notes and That was why,
- 45:55Speaker 2: because he was working through his material.
- 45:56Speaker 1: It was awesome.
- 45:58Speaker 2: It was really funny, really good to be that close
- 45:59Speaker 2: to Chris Rock. But I do appreciate that Chappelle is
- 46:04Speaker 2: so committed to a world and an experience without you
- 46:08Speaker 2: looking down at your phone one time, which we need
- 46:10Speaker 2: more of, quite frankly.
- 46:11Speaker 1: This is part of my review. I've got thoughts on
- 46:13Speaker 1: this throughout the night. It'll blow your mind what goes
- 46:16Speaker 1: into this for him.
- 46:17Speaker 2: I'll tell you someone who probably hates looking at things
- 46:19Speaker 2: on a cell phone. It's Christopher Nolan. This strikes me
- 46:22Speaker 2: as a man who is very committed to his craft,
- 46:25Speaker 2: very committed to making sure that you can see things
- 46:27Speaker 2: on IMAX and 70 millimeters, and he knows all the
- 46:31Speaker 2: different film stocks. He knows exactly how to create a masterpiece.
- 46:35Speaker 2: I love the movie, The Prestige. It's one of his
- 46:37Speaker 2: many masterpieces at this point. Christopher Nolan is not a
- 46:41Speaker 2: prolific director. He's not a prolific creator. When he does something,
- 46:45Speaker 2: he fully commits. Whether it's the Batman trilogy, the Dark
- 46:48Speaker 2: Knight trilogy, or it is Oppenheimer, or it's The Odyssey,
- 46:52Speaker 2: which I've seen all of these films, and I'd say
- 46:55Speaker 2: that they are films out of respect to Christopher Nolan.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I love them.
- 47:00Speaker 2: This is my primary complaint, though, is that Christopher Nolan
- 47:04Speaker 2: is spending any time in his day or any thought
- 47:08Speaker 2: on recutting The Prestige 20 years later and reissuing it
- 47:12Speaker 2: in theaters. We have reached a point in time, which
- 47:15Speaker 2: The Prestige is a great movie.
- 47:16Speaker 1: It is.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I might go see it in theaters in this, okay?
- 47:19Speaker 2: I'm not saying that I'm against that. But here's what
- 47:22Speaker 2: I want from Christopher Nolan while he's alive and on
- 47:24Speaker 2: this earth. I want him creating new films. I want
- 47:27Speaker 2: him creating new things for us to experience and see.
- 47:31Speaker 2: I want to go see the next Dunkirk out of
- 47:33Speaker 2: Christopher Nolan.
- 47:34Speaker 1: I don't want to go.
- 47:35Speaker 2: See The Prestige with 20 extra minutes, probably, of footage
- 47:38Speaker 2: that he cut out the first time in his reimagining
- 47:41Speaker 2: of the film on 70 millimeter or IMAX or anything
- 47:45Speaker 2: else just because we have the capability. Michael Mann is
- 47:49Speaker 2: another example. Great director.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Love Heat.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Love so many movies he's done. I think he's in
- 47:53Speaker 2: his 80s at this point. Michael Mann doesn't have many
- 47:57Speaker 2: movies left to do.
- 47:59Speaker 1: And so when I.
- 47:59Speaker 2: See that he has reissued and recut Miami Vice, the
- 48:03Speaker 2: Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx Miami Vice, and reissued it in theaters,
- 48:07Speaker 2: I'm thinking this is a waste of Michael Mann's time
- 48:11Speaker 2: on earth. Stop going back into the history and rewriting
- 48:15Speaker 2: and recreating things that already worked and go ahead.
- 48:19Speaker 1: And make something new. This is my primary complaint. Right
- 48:23Speaker 1: there with you. JT. Boys, we are deep in the South, right?
- 48:30Speaker 3: A lot of big, bad dudes that drive big, loud trucks.
- 48:34Speaker 3: A lot of hard guys that do construction and take
- 48:37Speaker 3: care of people and continue to make our lives better.
- 48:40Speaker 3: But there's one thing that Every time I'm on the interstate,
- 48:44Speaker 3: road just kind of pisses me off. And I don't
- 48:48Speaker 3: know that I have anything to say today. I just
- 48:49Speaker 3: want to show a little graphic here. And please explain
- 48:51Speaker 3: to me why this is okay. Not responsible for windshield damage.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Stay back 200 or 500 feet. In what world is
- 49:04Speaker 3: it okay for you to be driving a vehicle in
- 49:08Speaker 3: front of me and be able to tell me that,
- 49:11Speaker 3: You are not responsible for something that comes out of
- 49:14Speaker 3: your vehicle. I mean, tell me whether you're hauling a
- 49:19Speaker 3: toilet that you need to take to a dump, whether
- 49:21Speaker 3: you're throwing out a banana peel. If it comes out
- 49:24Speaker 3: of your car and hits my car and breaks a
- 49:26Speaker 3: windshield or causes me to have a wreck, you're the problem.
- 49:29Speaker 1: It's not me just because you have a.
- 49:30Speaker 3: Big sign on your car that says, hey, you need
- 49:32Speaker 3: to stay back 200 or 500 feet.
- 49:34Speaker 1: That's my primary complaint. So that's great. We can do
- 49:37Speaker 1: some research here too.
- 49:38Speaker 2: JT, during a break, we need to call Clay Travis
- 49:40Speaker 2: Law and make sure that this is not legally binding
- 49:43Speaker 2: because I can almost guarantee you that that sign on
- 49:45Speaker 2: any vehicle would not hold up in any lawsuit or
- 49:49Speaker 2: court or damages or anything else. I don't think that's
- 49:52Speaker 2: a legally binding contract when they put that sticker on
- 49:55Speaker 2: the back of a truck.
- 49:55Speaker 1: So what if on your windshield you had, you're responsible
- 49:59Speaker 1: for any windshield damage? Right. Yeah.
- 50:03Speaker 3: I don't think I did do some research yesterday when
- 50:05Speaker 3: I was thinking about this. I don't think that there's
- 50:07Speaker 3: any legal thing that allows them to get out of that.
- 50:10Speaker 1: But I mean, you know, if you don't even do it, sticking.
- 50:13Speaker 3: Out of the back of your truck, you're not obligated,
- 50:16Speaker 3: but you're polite to put one of those little flag
- 50:18Speaker 3: things on it that let people see that, hey, this
- 50:20Speaker 3: is sticking out further. But the fact that these dump
- 50:23Speaker 3: truck guys can't put a tarp that will keep them
- 50:26Speaker 3: gravel out of the back of your vehicle. And I
- 50:28Speaker 3: need to slow down or get over or move or hope.
- 50:31Speaker 1: The hell? My windshield doesn't break? It's ridiculous. I realize
- 50:34Speaker 1: that the car in front of me, the standard car,
- 50:37Speaker 1: if I catch a rock, that's just part of driving
- 50:42Speaker 1: in today's world. It cracks your windshield. It's your time
- 50:46Speaker 1: to go get a new windshield. But if that dump truck,
- 50:50Speaker 1: if the back gate falls down because they didn't lock
- 50:53Speaker 1: it or tie it down, that's on them. That's not
- 50:56Speaker 1: on me.
- 50:57Speaker 2: If all the rocks come down, There's no way it's
- 51:01Speaker 2: legally binding. I also, like you, JT, hate that people
- 51:04Speaker 2: even bother to put that.
- 51:05Speaker 1: On their vehicle.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I'll also say the amount of faith we put just
- 51:09Speaker 2: in our fellow human beings in America on the interstate,
- 51:13Speaker 2: that they have secured their payload properly when they're driving
- 51:18Speaker 2: down the interstate.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I constantly get.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Behind the huge PVC pipes, metal pipes, something that's barely
- 51:25Speaker 2: tied onto a truck, and I'm thinking... This thing might
- 51:28Speaker 2: final destination me at any point when I'm going 80
- 51:31Speaker 2: on the interstate and they're in front of me. If
- 51:33Speaker 2: that slides out and what it's going to do to
- 51:36Speaker 2: me or my vehicle.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Think about the amount. And I usually try to get around.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Someone that's got anything hanging out of the back of
- 51:43Speaker 2: their truck. But the amount of you can't do that
- 51:47Speaker 2: if you're not on the interstate, by the way, if
- 51:48Speaker 2: you're just on a two lane road. But the amount
- 51:51Speaker 2: of times we put faith in some dude's ability to
- 51:55Speaker 2: properly secure his payload in a truck bed. baffles the
- 51:58Speaker 2: mind and how horrible things don't happen more times than
- 52:03Speaker 2: they do is crazy to me.
- 52:05Speaker 1: I think about what we, I mean, you don't even
- 52:08Speaker 1: think about the faith we put in doctors. Oh, look,
- 52:12Speaker 1: I have a truck hunting.
- 52:13Speaker 2: And multiple times I have put stuff to take it
- 52:15Speaker 2: off to the dump or somewhere.
- 52:17Speaker 1: I've not properly secured that because I didn't have the
- 52:20Speaker 1: tools to do it.
- 52:20Speaker 2: So I'm just wedging it in there hoping I'll go
- 52:23Speaker 2: slow enough that this thing ain't going to fly out
- 52:26Speaker 2: and decapitate the person behind me. And I know that
- 52:30Speaker 2: I'm not alone in saying that that's happened before. So
- 52:33Speaker 2: it's crazy how much faith we put in people. Also,
- 52:36Speaker 2: let me say this as we're wrapping up Primary Complaint.
- 52:39Speaker 2: I'm amazed at how much faith we put in people's
- 52:41Speaker 2: ability to think. At times, I posted yesterday, we had
- 52:44Speaker 2: a poll on it in our YouTube chat, discussed this.
- 52:48Speaker 2: I said, any 9-3 SEC team belongs to the playoff
- 52:51Speaker 2: over a 10-2 UCLA or a 10-2 Iowa.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Go look at those two schedules.
- 52:57Speaker 2: So this tweet has now been seen by 181,000 people.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Danny Connell was one of the first to respond. Danny Connell,
- 53:04Speaker 2: noted SEC hater, said, check Georgia's schedule and get back
- 53:08Speaker 2: to me. And my response was... Georgia won at Alabama.
- 53:12Speaker 2: That's already better than any win possible for either one
- 53:16Speaker 2: of those two teams now that Iowa's already lost to
- 53:18Speaker 2: Ohio State. And then people are like, well, you can't
- 53:21Speaker 2: make it about one win. Now, here's what has bothered
- 53:24Speaker 2: me about this. The Iowa Hawkeye fan base has picked
- 53:27Speaker 2: up on me posting this, so I'm getting bombarded with
- 53:31Speaker 2: Iowa people saying, saying, oh, like this 10-2 SEC team,
- 53:36Speaker 2: and we beat their ever-loving ass a year ago in
- 53:39Speaker 2: a bowl game, and they're posting Iowa 34, Vanderbilt 27.
- 53:45Speaker 1: In that game.
- 53:46Speaker 2: That they beat the ever-loving hell out of Vanderbilt by
- 53:48Speaker 2: seven points, first off, is funny to me in that game. Second,
- 53:54Speaker 2: apologies to Vanderbilt. Great season, great story. But bragging for
- 53:58Speaker 2: years on end or bragging this much about beating Vanderbilt
- 54:02Speaker 2: is like a Big Ten or it would be like
- 54:04Speaker 2: an SEC school bragging about beating Purdue at some point
- 54:07Speaker 2: in some bowl game at that point, okay? Now, we
- 54:11Speaker 2: can argue about Vandy was disappointed they didn't make the
- 54:13Speaker 2: playoff and yada, yada, yada.
- 54:15Speaker 1: I'm not even going to do that.
- 54:17Speaker 2: I'm simply going to cite, which I did to the
- 54:19Speaker 2: Iowa fans, which pissed them off even more. I said, oh,
- 54:23Speaker 2: you mean like this beatdown of a 10-2 Big Ten
- 54:26Speaker 2: team by a team with a backup quarterback playing in
- 54:29Speaker 2: a bowl game? And I posted Tennessee's 35-0 win over
- 54:33Speaker 2: Iowa in the Cheez-It Bowl from two years ago. And
- 54:36Speaker 2: they said, oh, that was Nico. Nico was the backup
- 54:39Speaker 2: quarterback that year. He had not started a single game.
- 54:41Speaker 2: Joe Milton was the quarterback. Tennessee had opt-outs. Iowa fans.
- 54:45Speaker 1: We had all these opt-outs.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Tennessee had all these opt-outs, dude.
- 54:49Speaker 1: It's a bowl game, is my point.
- 54:51Speaker 2: So if you want to brag about Iowa beating a
- 54:53Speaker 2: 10-2 SEC team, then I'm going to brag about Tennessee
- 54:58Speaker 2: beating a 10-2 Iowa team. And then people are saying,
- 55:02Speaker 2: Iowa finished 10-4. Did they double their loss total? How
- 55:05Speaker 2: did they only have two losses?
- 55:07Speaker 1: Dumbasses.
- 55:08Speaker 2: You play in the Big Ten championship game. You went
- 55:11Speaker 2: 10-2 just like Vandy. The only difference is you did
- 55:14Speaker 2: it well enough in a terrible enough division that you
- 55:17Speaker 2: then had to go play Ohio State in a Big.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Ten championship and you lost 26 to nothing.
- 55:22Speaker 2: And then you played Tennessee in a bowl game and
- 55:24Speaker 2: you lost 35 to nothing in that game.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Receipts.
- 55:28Speaker 2: I do not want to hear from Iowa fans on this.
- 55:31Speaker 2: I will repeat it. I will scream it from the rafters.
- 55:35Speaker 2: First off, I don't think UCLA is going 10-2. I
- 55:37Speaker 2: think they're going to go 11-1 and get in. But
- 55:39Speaker 2: if UCLA or Iowa, everybody can go fact check me
- 55:43Speaker 2: on their schedules. If they go 10-2, I think any
- 55:47Speaker 2: 9-3 SEC team would deserve a spot over them. Is
- 55:51Speaker 2: that me saying that every 9-3 team is going to
- 55:53Speaker 2: get in? No, of course not. But I'm saying head-to-head
- 55:56Speaker 2: with those two teams that are 10-2, the SEC deserves
- 56:01Speaker 2: a spot in. Now, there are going to be other
- 56:03Speaker 2: 10-2 teams that deserve the spot over a 9-3 SEC team.
- 56:08Speaker 2: that I'm talking about, but not those two teams.
- 56:12Speaker 1: Chad, tomorrow we need to dive into the college football
- 56:14Speaker 1: playoff committee.
- 56:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:16Speaker 1: See who's on that. But just based on what we're
- 56:19Speaker 1: discussing here. Oh, Chad, GBT.
- 56:22Speaker 2: We can't just count losses. Because a lot of people, oh,
- 56:25Speaker 2: you can't do that. They've got one more loss. This
- 56:26Speaker 2: is not– it is outdated thinking. It is an outdated thing.
- 56:31Speaker 2: For someone who gets called a boomer all the time
- 56:33Speaker 2: about every take that I have, this is a non-boomer take.
- 56:37Speaker 2: The boomer take is once you get a loss and
- 56:39Speaker 2: then you get another one, then you can't go compete
- 56:41Speaker 2: for a title. That's the old BCS way of thinking.
- 56:45Speaker 2: That's the old we're going to vote on the national
- 56:46Speaker 2: champion way of thinking. The new age way of thinking
- 56:49Speaker 2: is you better schedule tough. You're going to have a
- 56:53Speaker 2: tough schedule in conference. And then at the end of
- 56:55Speaker 2: the year, we're going to look at everybody's schedule, who
- 56:58Speaker 2: they beat, who they lost to.
- 56:59Speaker 1: And decide.
- 57:00Speaker 2: And one factor will be number of losses, but it's
- 57:03Speaker 2: not going to be the only factor, and it's not
- 57:05Speaker 2: going to be the top factor.
- 57:06Speaker 1: Go ask Florida State about that. 100%.
- 57:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Go ask Florida State with a big zero beside it. ChatGBT,
- 57:14Speaker 1: Jacob sends this along. Whether or not that sign on
- 57:18Speaker 1: the back of the rock truck is legal. Short answer, no,
- 57:20Speaker 1: not really. That sign is more of a deterrent than
- 57:23Speaker 1: a legal shield. You can't waive someone else's rights with
- 57:27Speaker 1: a bumper sticker.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Right. Well, just in general, there's not a consenting second
- 57:33Speaker 2: party either to what they're stating.
- 57:35Speaker 1: There's got to be that as well.
- 57:37Speaker 2: I can't walk around with a sign that says, if
- 57:39Speaker 2: you get close to me, I will punch you. And
- 57:41Speaker 2: if I punch you, you can't sue me because you're
- 57:43Speaker 2: in my personal space. And I can't wear that on
- 57:46Speaker 2: a t-shirt the whole time. And then if I punch somebody,
- 57:48Speaker 2: they're like, oh, that guy wore that shirt, so I
- 57:51Speaker 2: can't sue him now.
- 57:53Speaker 1: Most of the claims are through dash cams. Uber drivers
- 57:57Speaker 1: have those. all the time. A lot of people, I guess,
- 58:00Speaker 1: have them. But if you want to make a claim,
- 58:02Speaker 1: you've got to have proof that it came from them.
- 58:05Speaker 1: I guess they're getting sued a lot. A lot of
- 58:07Speaker 1: claims on those rocks. I'm sure. Dave Chappelle, last night,
- 58:12Speaker 1: went to the show, and I've got the review coming up,
- 58:16Speaker 1: and something that I'm as impressed as I've been in
- 58:19Speaker 1: a long time with just going to an arena and
- 58:23Speaker 1: and watching a game, a show, or a concert. That's
- 58:27Speaker 1: straight ahead here on Hutton and Withrow.
