- 0:00Speaker 1: I got to ask you about, I feel like such
- 0:02Speaker 1: a freaking reporter now.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Got to ask.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Dude, so tell me about Nate Land. It's real.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It's real.
- 0:09Speaker 1: The theme park is real.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Where are we at with it? Like
- 0:14Speaker 2: what's going on? We're about to getting to some investing. Okay.
- 0:20Speaker 2: So we're about to start that kind of process. We
- 0:24Speaker 2: have the land or we basically think we know where
- 0:28Speaker 2: we want the land to be. We have not, like
- 0:31Speaker 2: we haven't said anything about the land or where it's
- 0:34Speaker 2: at or anything yet, but we've narrowed it down to
- 0:38Speaker 2: basically this one spot. And then so it's, but yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 2: I mean, we have the renderings, they're working on it
- 0:45Speaker 2: every day. We have Storyland. Storyland is a group that,
- 0:51Speaker 2: Storyland is a group they did, they've done stuff with everything.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I think they had some stuff to do with Epic.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It's a lot of the guys that worked with Disney
- 1:00Speaker 2: for a long time and they started their own kind
- 1:01Speaker 2: of company and they did all the Disney's in Dubai.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So Storyland is a company that helps make these things
- 1:07Speaker 1: come to fruition. Like they build them and everything.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Got it.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And so they, they, they make it, they help you
- 1:13Speaker 2: design all that designing, all that rendering and, all that,
- 1:17Speaker 2: getting that of the idea of what we're trying to do.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And is this a real render? Have you seen this before?
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Okay. And what is on this render? Can you zoom
- 1:23Speaker 1: in on that photo for me some?
- 1:25Speaker 2: It's going to be, so like it says Nate Land
- 1:27Speaker 2: in the front, like so that front area right past
- 1:29Speaker 2: the Nate Land is going to be like a retro mall.
- 1:33Speaker 2: So that's like, that would be open all year round
- 1:35Speaker 2: and you can go in there and you can have,
- 1:37Speaker 2: you know, like we talked, like a Netflix house that
- 1:39Speaker 2: we talked about earlier, you know, maybe you could have
- 1:41Speaker 2: something like that. I'm not saying this is what we
- 1:43Speaker 2: are having in there, but you could have some, Stuff
- 1:46Speaker 2: like that, restaurants, stuff like that, that's open all year round.
- 1:49Speaker 2: You have three sections of the park. You have a
- 1:51Speaker 2: section to the left.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Is it roller coasters?
- 1:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what's crazy, dude? I just
- 1:57Speaker 2: went to— I was in Hershey, Pennsylvania. You went to the—
- 2:01Speaker 2: Hershey Park? No, Hershey Park. Dollywood?
- 2:05Speaker 1: No, I'm thinking of Kennywood. I think I know Kennywood, too.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Kennywood's in Pittsburgh.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Oh, no, we didn't go there. We went to Hershey Park.
- 2:11Speaker 2: How was that? It's awesome. And so we rode some
- 2:14Speaker 2: roller coasters— which were, it was kind of roller coaster shopping,
- 2:19Speaker 2: which was crazy. Because you're like, meh. Well, you would
- 2:21Speaker 2: just ride, well, no, they had a few that you're like.
- 2:23Speaker 2: They rolled back the miles on this one. Yeah, you go.
- 2:25Speaker 2: There you go. No, thank you. But it was weird
- 2:29Speaker 2: to be riding a roller coaster being like, yeah, that was,
- 2:32Speaker 2: they got, that one felt great. And then you're like,
- 2:36Speaker 2: you know, you're kind of like, yeah, let's do that one.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Dude, that's wild. And who did you go with? Was
- 2:42Speaker 1: that just a family trip? No, no, I was on
- 2:44Speaker 1: the road.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I was there. I did shows there. And so we
- 2:47Speaker 2: had one guy from Storyland who came up, and he
- 2:51Speaker 2: kind of just walked me through and said, for this
- 2:55Speaker 2: one roller coaster we're doing, the roller coaster we're about
- 2:57Speaker 2: to ride is very similar to the one that we're
- 3:00Speaker 2: looking at. The same people made this roller coaster. So
- 3:02Speaker 2: you kind of ride in the roller coaster knowing that
- 3:04Speaker 2: that company is who would make that roller coaster are–
- 3:08Speaker 2: this is another one. So you're really riding some stuff and,
- 3:12Speaker 2: and getting a, you know, being like, all right, what's
- 3:14Speaker 2: this one kind of feel like? What's this one do?
- 3:16Speaker 1: And, and, and how much is a coaster, decent coaster?
- 3:20Speaker 2: Uh, I found out like, uh, there was one, there
- 3:24Speaker 2: was one like, uh, uh, like a big one might
- 3:30Speaker 2: be like $ 30 million. Like, or I'm not like, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: I don't know if it's the biggest one, but like, uh,
- 3:38Speaker 2: A kind of newer, very, very good coaster they have.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Someone was trying to guess. They said $ 30 million. And
- 3:49Speaker 2: then there's some other rides that were, one was like
- 3:53Speaker 2: a new version of a Tilt-A-Whirl kind of, but it
- 3:57Speaker 2: was like kind of moved around.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You tried that out too?
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. We rode that, just seeing what that was.
- 4:03Speaker 2: And I think that was like $ 850, 000. Wow.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Oh, that's one. You can get that one.
- 4:07Speaker 2: That one you get in your house, you know. You
- 4:10Speaker 2: just gotta lay away. You can just have that. Lay, lay,
- 4:13Speaker 2: lay away. Lay away, yeah.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Dang, I bet Kid Rock would get that thing. Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 2: He'd freaking do, but he'd probably. But it's like, yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 2: so you start going through.
- 4:23Speaker 1: He'd ruin it.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And this theme park, I mean, he would ruin the.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Sorry, how does that say that?
- 4:30Speaker 2: He'd put it on the white house. There's so many.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Clips of me just roasting him, even though we're friends.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I freaking love roasting him. Oh, yeah, he'd ruin it, dude.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And he would spend his money on that instead of
- 4:39Speaker 1: buying his brother a new leg who's missing one. Shout out, Billy. But, yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 1: go on.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Well, he should get a discount and be like, if
- 4:48Speaker 2: you get 50 grand off, throw that 50 to that leg.
- 4:52Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying.
- 4:53Speaker 2: He already wrapped his head around spending 850. Yeah. And then,
- 4:56Speaker 2: you know what, he could go, like if Kid Rock goes,
- 4:59Speaker 2: I'm spending 850 for this, and then he goes to
- 5:02Speaker 2: his brother and goes, if you can get any down...
- 5:06Speaker 2: You can get that leg. Right.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Whatever you save, you earn.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I love that.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And limb him up.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Oh, if I had a brother missing something, I'd limb
- 5:13Speaker 1: his little ass up in a heartbeat. But that's me.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So do you have a budget for how much you
- 5:20Speaker 1: can spend on coasters for this thing?
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. It's all budgeted in. Like, I mean, you know,
- 5:24Speaker 2: we're looking, it's like roughly going to be like $ 350 million.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And then, yeah.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And will the land be a lease or will it
- 5:32Speaker 1: be owning the land?
- 5:32Speaker 2: There's a lot of that I can't get into.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Okay, and how hands-on with you are all of that?
- 5:38Speaker 1: Like some of it and some of it's obviously this
- 5:40Speaker 1: like the minutiae you wouldn't be involved in. But yeah,
- 5:43Speaker 1: how hands-on with you are all that?
- 5:44Speaker 2: I mean, it's crazy because I'll be in these meetings
- 5:49Speaker 2: and I forget. Again, we were talking about like being
- 5:51Speaker 2: in charge. I forget like storyline, like all this stuff
- 5:55Speaker 2: when you do this, I'm paying for all this. for
- 5:57Speaker 2: them to go do the feasibility study and like to
- 6:02Speaker 2: economic study. And I mean, these are giant studies that
- 6:05Speaker 2: they do when you do investments to go to show
- 6:07Speaker 2: the tax revenue that it can bring the jobs that
- 6:09Speaker 2: you can bring to Nashville. I mean, the reason I
- 6:12Speaker 2: love this idea and doing this is the idea of
- 6:16Speaker 2: providing jobs. I want, I want it. I want our customer,
- 6:20Speaker 2: like the workers to be very much like, you know,
- 6:23Speaker 2: it is Disney or like you think like Chick-fil-A where,
- 6:26Speaker 2: you know, they're just great workers and, You want people
- 6:28Speaker 2: to be able to come there. Someone like me that
- 6:31Speaker 2: wasn't able to go, that couldn't get into college. And like,
- 6:34Speaker 2: so you don't know what, you know, I just was like,
- 6:37Speaker 2: I'm a comedian. But it was before that, you're like,
- 6:40Speaker 2: I was a water meter reader. I didn't know what jobs,
- 6:42Speaker 2: you know, you don't meet people that have other crazy jobs.
- 6:45Speaker 2: You were reading water meters? Yeah. At Redmond Mount Juliet.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Did you?
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 1: They got a lot of water out there, huh?
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, a lot of meters. And you had to
- 6:53Speaker 2: go do it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: So some things obviously you have to get the funding
- 6:56Speaker 1: to make sure you can get the space. So some
- 6:58Speaker 1: things it's like this happens, then this happens. It's like
- 7:00Speaker 1: a domino falling effect.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah. If they're like, I mean, it's right now I'm
- 7:06Speaker 2: spending all the money for it. And now are you
- 7:08Speaker 2: putting your own money in with somebody else or what's
- 7:10Speaker 2: going on? No, it's just my money. So you're the
- 7:12Speaker 2: only money. Right now this doesn't go anywhere. I will
- 7:14Speaker 2: be in big trouble. No, I mean, I would be
- 7:18Speaker 2: touring for the rest, but it's like right now it's on,
- 7:21Speaker 2: it's just me.
- 7:22Speaker 1: What made you make that choice? It's a big choice
- 7:23Speaker 1: and no judgment. And I think it's a cool choice.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I think it's a good choice. What makes you make it?
- 7:28Speaker 1: And I wish you the best of luck with it.
- 7:29Speaker 2: It's exciting.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'll go over there.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Thank you. We'd love to have you. Uh, it's, uh,
- 7:36Speaker 2: you know, my first job was a theme park. I
- 7:38Speaker 2: worked at Opryland here in Nashville and I was 15.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And so, I don't know. They, then they got rid
- 7:45Speaker 2: of that my senior year in high school. And I mean,
- 7:48Speaker 2: the whole city kind of was like, why would you
- 7:50Speaker 2: do that? Like it was a, profitable theme park everybody
- 7:53Speaker 2: kind of liked it i i'm not saying from that
- 7:56Speaker 2: day i was like i'm gonna build a theme park
- 7:58Speaker 2: but then as i got uh why did they close
- 8:01Speaker 2: it do you know they they got a mall there's
- 8:03Speaker 2: a mall there now opry mills mall and it.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Used to be opryland a theme park yeah right there
- 8:09Speaker 1: yeah i don't even know that.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Yeah i don't even know if it'd be curious to
- 8:12Speaker 2: see if there's a reason i don't know if there'd
- 8:14Speaker 2: be a real reason on on the internet to be
- 8:17Speaker 2: honest I think it was just easier to have a
- 8:21Speaker 2: mall than it would be a theme park for whatever reason.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Got it. Opryland USA closed in 1997 because its parent company,
- 8:27Speaker 1: Gaylord Entertainment, wanted to transition. Sorry. Crazy name. Gaylord, because Lord,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I think, is straight.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Wanted to transition the seasonal theme park into a highly
- 8:38Speaker 1: profitable year-round retail entertainment complex. Understandable.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Yeah. So that was the Wabash Cannonball, the one that
- 8:45Speaker 2: goes upside down. Oh, that was it?
- 8:46Speaker 1: You remember the name of that one?
- 8:48Speaker 2: I know them all, yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 1: What's that one?
- 8:50Speaker 2: Wallbash Cannonball.
- 8:51Speaker 1: The Wallbash Cannonball? Yeah.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Dang, so you were there, Nate. Yeah, screaming Delta Demon.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, I met her before. I met her, dang it.
- 9:01Speaker 1: She goes to Mississippi State for sure. I think she
- 9:06Speaker 1: just did 50 days of boozing out there in Knoxville
- 9:09Speaker 1: for sure. Dude, oh, my God. So you were in
- 9:13Speaker 1: the trenches there at Opryland.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I was a sweeper. And I worked in the
- 9:19Speaker 2: dog kennel. And my dad did magic there. Oh. So
- 9:24Speaker 2: the reason I thought about this was like the idea it's,
- 9:28Speaker 2: you know, when I started doing all these arenas and
- 9:30Speaker 2: all this, my big daydreaming goal when I was starting
- 9:35Speaker 2: comedy was to headline Bridgestone. And so when I did
- 9:38Speaker 2: it for the first time, I remember that night, I
- 9:42Speaker 2: really was like, I mean, I remember it was that night.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I was like, what am I supposed to do now?
- 9:47Speaker 2: Because I just thought about that for 20 years. And then,
- 9:52Speaker 2: which is crazy, it was 20 years, pretty much, I think,
- 9:56Speaker 2: exactly for me to get there, to headline Bridgestone. That's good.
- 10:01Speaker 2: on that, dude. And we sold 19,365 tickets, which is
- 10:05Speaker 2: 20 years. Isn't that crazy? I don't know. I'm not
- 10:08Speaker 2: even into numbers.
- 10:09Speaker 1: You sold 19,365 tickets, which is 20 years.
- 10:10Speaker 2: 20 years. And but so when you when I got
- 10:18Speaker 2: to that, I go, all right. Like, I just felt like,
- 10:22Speaker 2: what am I? What's the next? You got to have
- 10:25Speaker 2: something else. It can't be, you know, you got to
- 10:28Speaker 2: I got to assume that if I keep becoming a
- 10:30Speaker 2: great comic, arenas will come. I'll be able to do
- 10:32Speaker 2: Madison Square Garden. I'll be able to do all this stuff.
- 10:35Speaker 2: So I have to, I believe in myself that I
- 10:36Speaker 2: can do that. But then what's the purpose of me?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Like what's the, and I thought it can't be about me.
- 10:43Speaker 2: This life, it cannot be about me or I'm going
- 10:45Speaker 2: to go crazy. Right. And so from that moment is
- 10:49Speaker 2: when I started, when I was like, I'm going to
- 10:51Speaker 2: start Nate Land, the company, the idea of like being
- 10:53Speaker 2: able to make some movies that are the movie that
- 10:55Speaker 2: we're making right now, The Breadwinner. And then, you know,
- 10:59Speaker 2: I thought of a theme park and thought like, you
- 11:01Speaker 2: know what? I want to build a place where, You know,
- 11:03Speaker 2: maybe all my ideas can go live. This theme park
- 11:06Speaker 2: is not going to be about me. It's about the
- 11:08Speaker 2: state of Tennessee. But it's about, you know, it's called
- 11:11Speaker 2: Nate Land and there's going to be Easter eggish stuff.
- 11:13Speaker 2: But people think it's going to be like a shrine
- 11:16Speaker 2: to me. It's not. It's, you know, it's going to
- 11:19Speaker 2: represent Nashville and all this stuff. It's like you just
- 11:22Speaker 2: got to have someone that has the vision to be
- 11:24Speaker 2: able to want to go do it.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Did you guys have choices for different names? Is Nateland,
- 11:28Speaker 1: because it's the production company, so you just named it
- 11:30Speaker 1: the same thing?
- 11:30Speaker 2: It's just always been, yeah, Nateland is a.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And I get it. Look, I mean, you worked at
- 11:35Speaker 1: a theme park. You came up with it. It's like,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I certainly get the.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I think it's the trust. The reason it's named after
- 11:42Speaker 2: me is the trust. If I can keep trust with
- 11:45Speaker 2: my audience, with this audience that we do, and that's
- 11:47Speaker 2: the biggest thing. So if they can trust that they
- 11:50Speaker 2: know that they can... see what I'm doing, then it's
- 11:54Speaker 2: like you kind of need to know who's behind this.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I see.
- 11:58Speaker 1: So you're putting yourself behind it. I will sell the tickets.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Got it.
- 12:02Speaker 2: The responsibility of that park thriving is on me. I
- 12:05Speaker 2: need to sell the tickets. I need to keep the
- 12:07Speaker 2: trust that I have with this audience. That's on me.
- 12:11Speaker 2: That's not anybody else's problem. I'll do it. That's what
- 12:15Speaker 2: I feel has been bestowed upon me. I'm just doing
- 12:18Speaker 2: what I feel I'm being asked to do. Called to do.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Did you pray about it kind of too? Because some
- 12:23Speaker 1: of these are big choices. Not that you need to.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yeah. No, yeah, yeah. A lot of it is. I mean,
- 12:27Speaker 2: a lot of it is you feel very much like,
- 12:30Speaker 2: you know, doors and stuff and your ideas and Stuff
- 12:34Speaker 2: that you think of or start.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Oh, it's not even yours. It's like a higher power.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It's like a cable.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I very much... I mean, you can visualize a lot
- 12:43Speaker 2: of stuff. And then I think when you can easily
- 12:46Speaker 2: visualize something, you're like... And then the doors start opening
- 12:49Speaker 2: in that way. Then you go... That's the direction you
- 12:51Speaker 2: need to kind of head in. Where if you want
- 12:54Speaker 2: something else, but you're having a hard time visualizing it,
- 12:56Speaker 2: then you're probably forcing. And that's probably not the direction
- 12:59Speaker 2: you need to go in. You need to just... Like,
- 13:01Speaker 2: you just kind of... follow the lead. And, uh, as
- 13:05Speaker 2: we did Nate land and then it was just kind
- 13:07Speaker 2: of like excited.
- 13:07Speaker 1: You got me excited now. Cause yeah, you hear little things,
- 13:10Speaker 1: you see things on X and stuff like that, but
- 13:11Speaker 1: you don't know, you know? And so I feel so
- 13:14Speaker 1: lucky that I'm getting to listen. You talk about it.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Yeah. It's, I mean, you know, one of the things
- 13:18Speaker 2: I do, I want, you know, eventually to, I think
- 13:20Speaker 2: when you go to Nate land, maybe you don't really
- 13:22Speaker 2: know who Nate is. And it's not about that. Like
- 13:24Speaker 2: it's about everything there. Oh, one day that's what everything becomes.
- 13:28Speaker 2: It's like, you don't even know.
- 13:29Speaker 1: It's like you go to like, uh, Applebee's or whatever
- 13:32Speaker 1: you don't know who Roger Applebee is anymore no you
- 13:35Speaker 1: know or whatever you go to like Tim Hortons Logan's
- 13:39Speaker 1: you don't know the Logan oh yeah you don't even
- 13:41Speaker 1: know Logan's I think Ernest lives there now he's living
- 13:44Speaker 1: in one of them Ernest T. Bass no Ernest oh
- 13:48Speaker 1: the singer yeah Ernest the singer dude for Logan's Roadhouse
- 13:52Speaker 1: he's kind of like John Daly is for Hooters I
- 13:54Speaker 1: think he like lives in the back of one of
- 13:57Speaker 1: them bless him brother bless Ernest he has a new
- 13:59Speaker 1: album coming out too I got to get him and
- 14:01Speaker 1: Willie Robertson in here so I'm not going to sit
- 14:03Speaker 1: and chop it up. Those guys are funny. But no, dude,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I just understand it more. Now, take me on some
- 14:08Speaker 1: of these rides because I know you've already thought about
- 14:11Speaker 1: some of the rides. Wait, first of all, hold on.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Is there going to be a water facility? You're not
- 14:15Speaker 1: doing the water thing, huh?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Water park? No. No.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Because also people get electrocuted.
- 14:21Speaker 2: I was going to say what I can't say. Yes.
- 14:23Speaker 1: People get electrocuted.
- 14:24Speaker 2: In water parks? Yeah. Really? Really?
- 14:26Speaker 1: Well, I mean, they're not going to, if you get electrocuted,
- 14:29Speaker 1: this is kind of crazy.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Because if it rains. Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Well, if it rains, it's more water. But if you
- 14:34Speaker 1: get electrocuted, do you have to have water to get electrocuted?
- 14:38Speaker 2: No.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I've been electrocuted. I got electrocuted on a food truck
- 14:42Speaker 1: that was selling seafood, illegal seafood. Will you have a band,
- 14:46Speaker 1: like the Chuck E. Cheese Band or anything like that
- 14:48Speaker 1: at Nate Land, do you think?
- 14:50Speaker 2: I think that's open for discussion. Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I think it's definitely open for discussion. And you've got
- 14:55Speaker 1: to have a cool Nate name. Oh, Nate Inch Nails
- 14:57Speaker 1: would be good.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Yeah, he laughed. That was pretty good. It's
- 15:04Speaker 2: a kid music. It's rock.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Yes, it's a rock band doing kid music.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I like that.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 15:11Speaker 2: That'd be cool.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of any other one. Nate Vana, maybe.
- 15:14Speaker 1: It's not as good.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Nate Inch Nails is.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Might be it.
- 15:19Speaker 2: It might be it.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Nate Go Back.
- 15:22Speaker 2: This is how you remember. I like that.
