- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back.
- 0:13Speaker 2: What's up, everybody?
- 0:14Speaker 1: It is Jeff Mosher, It's Adam Kaplan And guess what
- 0:17Speaker 1: I think. Inside the Birds is the only podcast or
- 0:21Speaker 1: news outlet that covers the Eagles that hasn't done. It's
- 0:24Speaker 1: too early fifty three man yet, So Adam and I said,
- 0:28Speaker 1: you know what, it's time we got to get ours going.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And that's what we're gonna do in this two part
- 0:32Speaker 1: podcast series. We're gonna do our fifty three man offensive
- 0:36Speaker 1: project or roster projection. We'll start off in this podcast
- 0:39Speaker 1: with offense. We'll finish it off with defense in the
- 0:42Speaker 1: next one. Adam, I think this year is the most
- 0:45Speaker 1: challenging one ever because it's not, like we always say,
- 0:50Speaker 1: depth isn't how many people you have, it's how many
- 0:53Speaker 1: good people you have. So I don't want to say
- 0:54Speaker 1: it's because he great depth, but the Eagles have an
- 0:59Speaker 1: abnormally high number of players who could make the fifty
- 1:03Speaker 1: three as opposed to past years.
- 1:06Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We can't sit here and say, oh, we know Willie
- 1:09Speaker 1: Lampikin's gonna be a good player or not. But he's
- 1:11Speaker 1: one of those type of guys where you just don't know,
- 1:13Speaker 1: but the Eagles have a lot of those type of
- 1:15Speaker 1: players who will battle for a spot.
- 1:17Speaker 2: On the fifty three. Maybe make it, maybe not.
- 1:20Speaker 3: But there's some uncertainty about him, so it makes it complicated.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That is first, Yeah, this is our initial fifty three.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I love to do maybe August fifteenth, something like that,
- 1:32Speaker 2: m or maybe maybe camp starting later this year on
- 1:36Speaker 2: July twenty eighth. Kind of odd, but maybe we'll do
- 1:39Speaker 2: it two weeks in whatever date that is, and then
- 1:42Speaker 2: we'll do our final one, obviously with Andrew Decheco, and
- 1:44Speaker 2: we'll give our what we all think the fifty three
- 1:47Speaker 2: will look like, our own version of it. But yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 2: this one, it's like, you know this, we're going to
- 1:51Speaker 2: do two different shows, your offense, one defense the other.
- 1:56Speaker 2: The I mean, I don't want to see I struggle
- 1:57Speaker 2: with offense. I really didn't. It's much harder to do defense.
- 2:01Speaker 2: But the problem is because Howie has a history of
- 2:03Speaker 2: keeping a lot of linemen. It likes keeping the guys
- 2:05Speaker 2: they draft, and then you've got this cold Peyton quagmire.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I I that was the one I struggle with the most.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Because McKee's contracts up, TH's contracts up after the season
- 2:18Speaker 2: I know they don't want to keep four quarterbacks. It's ridiculous.
- 2:20Speaker 2: You only dress two. One is an active third quarterback.
- 2:24Speaker 2: But it's a draft about the future. That's why they
- 2:26Speaker 2: drafted Cult Payton. They think he's got a future as
- 2:28Speaker 2: a backup quarterback. Take a while, he's a project. But
- 2:33Speaker 2: that was the one that I was like, Wow, I
- 2:35Speaker 2: could make a case from on and off the roster.
- 2:38Speaker 2: But we'll get to that a minute. Yeah. And tight end, right,
- 2:41Speaker 2: tight end's got to be a little bit difficult. Many, Yeah,
- 2:43Speaker 2: have so many.
- 2:44Speaker 1: And as you just mentioned with quarterback, if you're going
- 2:46Speaker 1: to keep a bunch of those, or at least one
- 2:49Speaker 1: more than you ordinarily do, which who knows, But if
- 2:51Speaker 1: you do, then you got to go light. And same
- 2:53Speaker 1: thing with the line. You're going to keep a lot
- 2:54Speaker 1: of those, you got to go light in other areas.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Right. And then there's the there is a way to
- 3:01Speaker 2: save a spot. There's the Charlie Hewlett. Let's cut him first, right,
- 3:05Speaker 2: then we'll sign him back to the fifty three man
- 3:07Speaker 2: roster and once everything clears up in about five days,
- 3:09Speaker 2: Like you, because I remember when they cut Hewlett, we're like, okay,
- 3:12Speaker 2: they're not going into a game without a long snapper,
- 3:14Speaker 2: and of course they didn't. They re signed him later,
- 3:16Speaker 2: but that was just to get them to say that
- 3:19Speaker 2: there was somebody they wanted to keep, and they knew that.
- 3:22Speaker 2: They did what we've called. We've started calling this like
- 3:25Speaker 2: eight years ago, the roster tango. You start doing that,
- 3:28Speaker 2: and that's what how we did. It was odd, it
- 3:31Speaker 2: was I hadn't seen that one before. But there's a method.
- 3:33Speaker 2: They're going to have a long snapper and they did.
- 3:37Speaker 1: There you go, all right, So why don't we what
- 3:40Speaker 1: we do is in this format? You know, we don't
- 3:42Speaker 1: you know, I always we do our own separate ones
- 3:44Speaker 1: and then we compare and contrast. So why don't we
- 3:46Speaker 1: start off? We'll go with quarterback? How many quarterbacks are
- 3:50Speaker 1: the Eagles keeping on their fifty three? Initially, in your
- 3:53Speaker 1: too early projection.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Had them my initial I'm just calling this initial projection.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I don't think it's actually too early, to be honest
- 3:59Speaker 2: with you, because you we've had the You can't do
- 4:01Speaker 2: it before the draft. You have to have the draft. That. Yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 2: free agency is done. Uh, the the beefy or media
- 4:09Speaker 2: part is completely done. It's just the egos kudat of safety,
- 4:12Speaker 2: certainly by training camp. But the important part's done. The
- 4:16Speaker 2: draft is done, so you know you have you know
- 4:18Speaker 2: what the guts of the roster is going to look like.
- 4:19Speaker 2: That's not going to change. But it's the it's the you.
- 4:23Speaker 2: You just started at the quarterback position. I did four
- 4:27Speaker 2: iterations of this and the last one I stopped with
- 4:30Speaker 2: I have him on. I don't feel great about it.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I'm I called Patent's a fascinating athlete who's playing in
- 4:37Speaker 2: the quarterback position. Mm hmm. He's a you know, we're
- 4:41Speaker 2: able to see him in ot suh right in front
- 4:43Speaker 2: of us, big dude. He has some arm strength, but
- 4:48Speaker 2: his issues, he's major mechanical issues mm hmm. And that's
- 4:51Speaker 2: going to take him a while. But unfortunately, because he's drafted,
- 4:55Speaker 2: he's a. He's not vested. He's a. He would have
- 4:58Speaker 2: to wave him to get him in the practice squad. Well,
- 5:01Speaker 2: now the question is if you, if you're Howie Roseman,
- 5:04Speaker 2: do you think you can get away with it anyone
- 5:06Speaker 2: you waive? You know that you probably you have a
- 5:09Speaker 2: chance to lose a player, So you're willing to lose
- 5:11Speaker 2: the players? Really? What the point is? Right so right now,
- 5:14Speaker 2: I've got cold Payton on it. But that, as we've
- 5:17Speaker 2: always said, if you're going heavy somewhere else, and this
- 5:19Speaker 2: is too heavy. But he's a drafted player, fifth round
- 5:23Speaker 2: and you're gonna have to go light somewhere else. So
- 5:24Speaker 2: we'll see how it impacts my roster management.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Right, So you've got the four. It's not hurt.
- 5:30Speaker 1: The key is Dalton Peyton if there if you're if
- 5:33Speaker 1: we're gonna do a fifty three and take one off,
- 5:36Speaker 1: it would be McKee thinking that there might be a trade.
- 5:38Speaker 2: That's it, right, Yeah, yeah, I don't see them cutting Dalton.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I mean it's only they're only in the the guaranteed
- 5:48Speaker 2: one point five million maybe, yeah, Like why they trade
- 5:51Speaker 2: they they brought him in for a reason. They had
- 5:53Speaker 2: mny they knew. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't. I would
- 5:57Speaker 2: be stunned because you know how he liked him. They
- 5:59Speaker 2: try to sign m three year to go with between
- 6:00Speaker 2: the Panthers, with the Eagles. He saw him with the Panthers.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Now we got his man. But you got to see
- 6:06Speaker 2: you just got to see how this plays out. This
- 6:08Speaker 2: is a this is called Payton's an interesting player, man.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I want to see how they use him in training camp.
- 6:13Speaker 2: That one is interesting. Yeah, yeah, I agree with you.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'm very I still think in my mind that there's
- 6:19Speaker 1: some way that McKee might get traded if somebody loses
- 6:22Speaker 1: a quarterback. Oh sure, you know, like what's going on
- 6:25Speaker 1: with the Jets there, right Gino Smith. So it almost
- 6:27Speaker 1: got into trouble, and I don't know what's going to
- 6:28Speaker 1: happen with him. Somebody else could get injured or get
- 6:31Speaker 1: into trouble. You never know. It's been kind of a
- 6:33Speaker 1: crazy news cycle with NFL players getting either suspended or
- 6:37Speaker 1: in trouble or stations.
- 6:39Speaker 2: You know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 1: So but if there's gonna be one guy, it would
- 6:43Speaker 1: be the key that you can see not being on
- 6:45Speaker 1: the team via trade.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That would be it. Yeah.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I had hurts McKee, Dalton Payton, I had four.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Okay, wait you did or didn't have? Did I miss that?
- 6:57Speaker 2: Did you not keep? No? No, I think that. Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 2: just I thought you're gonna when we do these things
- 7:04Speaker 2: over the hears, there's always one or two positions where
- 7:07Speaker 2: we just totally don't see it the same way. Or
- 7:10Speaker 2: you know, you look at how he's history of drafted players.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Now he did cut col McCord last year did make
- 7:16Speaker 2: it as a six round pick. Agree.
- 7:18Speaker 1: But you and I I think we talked about this
- 7:20Speaker 1: the big difference between Peyton and McCord. Not only did
- 7:23Speaker 1: they draft Peyton in the fifth round, not the sixth,
- 7:26Speaker 1: but they drafted Peyton knowing that there are so many
- 7:30Speaker 1: tools that they can work with to develop to get
- 7:33Speaker 1: him where they hope he can get to. And even
- 7:36Speaker 1: if he can't, they can still put him on the field.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Like you mentioned in a in a Taysom Hill, I mean,
- 7:40Speaker 1: there's ways to use him with uh the guy that
- 7:43Speaker 1: drafted last year McCord.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yep, he can't.
- 7:47Speaker 1: He he was there was You weren't gonna be able
- 7:49Speaker 1: to coach him up to be ten times better than
- 7:51Speaker 1: he already is.
- 7:51Speaker 2: There.
- 7:52Speaker 1: He was a pocket quarterback. You're not going to get
- 7:54Speaker 1: him to be more mobile. You're not going to get
- 7:56Speaker 1: him to be anything more than he already was. But
- 7:59Speaker 1: he did not perform.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Well, so there was less to work with there.
- 8:03Speaker 1: It's not like he's this untapped or resource where you
- 8:07Speaker 1: know you got need need years.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I'm not trying to like bury his career. What I'm just.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Saying is there's not as much upside as there's a peyton,
- 8:13Speaker 1: so would move on.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, And with McCord, the arm was did not
- 8:18Speaker 2: It just didn't look good. He didn't have a good
- 8:20Speaker 2: arm to begin with, very average, below average, right, and
- 8:23Speaker 2: that really showed up in training camp. So not that
- 8:25Speaker 2: anything is easy, but I just remember seeing him in
- 8:29Speaker 2: training camp and look, there's no chance he deserves to
- 8:31Speaker 2: be on the team. He doesn't throw the ball well
- 8:33Speaker 2: enough like OTAs. That's why I could fool you. You
- 8:36Speaker 2: got to be careful with what some of the reporters see.
- 8:38Speaker 2: It's it's OT eight. Everybody should look good. To be
- 8:41Speaker 2: honest with you, I know he's a rookie, but he
- 8:43Speaker 2: was a rookie. But there's our flag football seven on
- 8:49Speaker 2: seven exhibitions. It's a passing camp. You should look good.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And he did. And then once yeah, the lights went
- 8:54Speaker 2: on for the major leagues. His training camp, he struggled.
- 8:58Speaker 1: So he's gone, all right, So running back we move
- 9:02Speaker 1: on to Adam.
- 9:03Speaker 2: That to me was the easiest position to do.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And I don't mind breaking protocol in a sense because
- 9:09Speaker 1: the Eagles, for whatever reason of love to keep four.
- 9:11Speaker 3: But I don't think that they're going to find a
- 9:13Speaker 3: reason to keep four on the fifty three this year.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I think you got Barkley, you got Tank Bigsby, you
- 9:18Speaker 1: got will Shipley to occupy a role and even on
- 9:22Speaker 1: kickoff return if he's not a bigger part of the offense.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And I just don't see Damian Pierce Elijah Mitchell being
- 9:29Speaker 1: good enough or to warrant a spot on a fifty
- 9:34Speaker 1: three where you need to go heavy in other areas.
- 9:36Speaker 2: So I see three running backs. Yeah, I'm with you.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I don't see I know Lodji Mitchell's a system fit.
- 9:43Speaker 2: That's why he's here. I don't see it. I just
- 9:46Speaker 2: don't see it. He's he does fit, but the guy's
- 9:52Speaker 2: been hurt for almost his entire career. He's been on
- 9:54Speaker 2: IR three times. He was a six round pick of
- 9:58Speaker 2: twenty one, and he has not had a carry in
- 10:00Speaker 2: a long time. I don't see it right. And Pierce,
- 10:05Speaker 2: as we said when he was signed, he struggled. When
- 10:08Speaker 2: they moved his zone blocking in Houston, he struggled, and
- 10:11Speaker 2: he he looked like a promising player. Then he's his
- 10:14Speaker 2: career cratered and he's looking for he's looking for work.
- 10:18Speaker 2: But that's it you and I see that that's an
- 10:20Speaker 2: easy one. You and I see that the same three guys.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I mean, there's no reason why you can And then listen,
- 10:24Speaker 1: the Eagles are sort of guiltiest guilty of this in
- 10:27Speaker 1: the past, keeping guys who you and I thought they
- 10:30Speaker 1: could just easily.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Have on the practice squad.
- 10:33Speaker 1: But especially this year, there's no reason why you can't
- 10:35Speaker 1: have Pierce and Mitchell, uh, you know, come back on
- 10:39Speaker 1: your practice squad.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I don't.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I don't think like you need to keep them because
- 10:42Speaker 1: you're worried about somebody poaching them. Yeah, and if they do,
- 10:45Speaker 1: then you find another running back.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I don't think it's that big. They're not going to
- 10:49Speaker 2: play anyway. I mean it is, you're not you're not
- 10:51Speaker 2: worried about it. Yeah, I agree, right, all right.
- 10:53Speaker 3: So we both keep seven, four quarterbacks, three running backs.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Now, now is where we might get to a little
- 11:00Speaker 1: bit of a different opinion.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I don't know. We'll see wide receivers.
- 11:04Speaker 3: How many did first of all, before you go names,
- 11:06Speaker 3: just tell me how how many you kept.
- 11:08Speaker 2: All right, So it was either gonna be five or six. Right,
- 11:12Speaker 2: And a couple of things here. Johnny Wilson's healthy. We
- 11:15Speaker 2: saw him at ot as he's running. He was participating
- 11:18Speaker 2: in drills. That gives him at least then we know
- 11:23Speaker 2: that he's healthy. M hm. He absolutely was missed last
- 11:26Speaker 2: year in the run game. There's no question about it
- 11:28Speaker 2: that he That's the one thing he does well is
- 11:30Speaker 2: he's a big bodied blocking receiver. They sure as hell
- 11:33Speaker 2: could have used that last season. Didn't really didn't realize
- 11:37Speaker 2: how much until we were about halfway through the season
- 11:38Speaker 2: when the Eagles had such a bad running game. None
- 11:41Speaker 2: of us saw that, but he could have helped. I
- 11:44Speaker 2: am going with six.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Okay, So yeah, so let's match it all right, Smitty Wix,
- 11:52Speaker 4: Lemon Brown and a five million full of guarantee that
- 11:56Speaker 4: puts him on the roster for sure.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Darius Cooper our guy m hm. And Johnny Wilson that's six.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I'll lodge you more in a way. He's a he's
- 12:04Speaker 2: a vested venor, and you could you could just if
- 12:07Speaker 2: you really really want him, just just practice squad him,
- 12:10Speaker 2: get him to agree to it. You know. Yeah, I'm
- 12:13Speaker 2: so disappointed. Man. We see this the same way. Interesting, Ted,
- 12:19Speaker 2: We'll see We'll say I.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Thought I know, but I thought for sure we'd have
- 12:22Speaker 1: a little bit of a difference on wide receiver and
- 12:24Speaker 1: be able to rationalize it.
- 12:25Speaker 2: But I mean correct, Look, Danny great, forget it. He's
- 12:28Speaker 2: been hurt like crazy, SAMARTI RaSE here because the scheme
- 12:31Speaker 2: he does, he doesn't make it as a coma. Could
- 12:33Speaker 2: just go to the practice squad if they like him
- 12:35Speaker 2: that much. Yeah, sorry, Hive, Yes, that he's not making it.
- 12:41Speaker 3: It's really You're right, it's really not that difficult.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I guess the only thing that you look at is
- 12:46Speaker 1: both of us keeping the same six.
- 12:48Speaker 2: There's really not.
- 12:49Speaker 1: A an established pure punt returner in that group unless
- 12:54Speaker 1: they want Marquise Brown to do it.
- 12:55Speaker 2: And I don't think he's done a ton of it.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I know he has done some if I'm not a mistake,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and I don't have to go back and look at
- 13:02Speaker 1: how how how well he was as a punter returner.
- 13:05Speaker 2: But they don't.
- 13:06Speaker 1: But that is a position where if you wanted to
- 13:10Speaker 1: get away with three weeks of Britain Covey getting elevations
- 13:13Speaker 1: and then three weeks of.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Getting you could you could absolutely do that.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It's not it's not essential to hold a fifty three
- 13:19Speaker 1: man roster spot for somebody. Just correct because ten years ago, yes, right,
- 13:23Speaker 1: like ten years ago, before the new practice squad rules,
- 13:26Speaker 1: you would have to consider those kind of things, but
- 13:28Speaker 1: now it's not.
- 13:30Speaker 2: As big of a deal. Yeah, I agree. I'm trying
- 13:33Speaker 2: to let me let me see right here.
- 13:35Speaker 3: So yeah, he he's only returned.
- 13:37Speaker 1: He's I don't I don't think I see any punt
- 13:39Speaker 1: returns in Marquees Brown his career, So.
- 13:45Speaker 2: He's not a punter returner. You would think he was.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I would think one of the backup corners. Usually it's
- 13:53Speaker 2: a corner, a backup corner, backup receiver, backup running back.
- 13:58Speaker 2: That's when it's training camp, you'll see it's really funny,
- 14:00Speaker 2: like they'll have a line of like seven guys returning
- 14:02Speaker 2: punts and almost all of them don't do it in
- 14:05Speaker 2: the regular because they're just they're they're looking at they're
- 14:07Speaker 2: looking for guys because it's hard to justify a spot
- 14:11Speaker 2: for Covey. It's one thing if they didn't have a
- 14:14Speaker 2: slot receiver. They have one, actually they have more than one.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I they've they have legitimately a couple of guys who
- 14:19Speaker 2: can do it. So yeah, and that's where Lemon's gonna
- 14:21Speaker 2: line up, and you wonder if he'll do it. We'll see, see.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Right, all right, let's move on to tight end. Maybe
- 14:28Speaker 1: we'll see. Uh see this position differently?
- 14:32Speaker 2: I kept three, so did I? I see? Here's the
- 14:38Speaker 2: thing to me, it's gonna come down to, is the
- 14:41Speaker 2: three month or Calcutara? Right now it's a minor thing,
- 14:48Speaker 2: but the guaranteed money. Uh, I'll tell you right now
- 14:52Speaker 2: what Calcutarra has versus month cake. Uh see what he's
- 14:58Speaker 2: got to see if I have that here? Yeah, So Johnny, Uh,
- 15:04Speaker 2: that's a Calcultara. Excuse me? Two million dollars is his
- 15:07Speaker 2: total cash they guaranteed it's signing seven hundred thousand. Okay,
- 15:12Speaker 2: it's a less than fifty percent of his contract, Johnny
- 15:16Speaker 2: mont Cake. It's interesting they it looks like it looks
- 15:26Speaker 2: like one point five million. They guaranteed half a seven
- 15:29Speaker 2: seven hundred and fifty thousand, So it's really not. It's
- 15:34Speaker 2: it's it's strictly to come down to who's more willing
- 15:38Speaker 2: to take a practice squad contract. Month's important. If monk
- 15:42Speaker 2: couts still play, then it's it's going to be close.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Right if you can, it's a Calcutaria. Now. The problem
- 15:48Speaker 2: is because Stowers doesn't block well yet. If he ever will,
- 15:52Speaker 2: you're hoping not to have god Art to play in
- 15:56Speaker 2: line as the y time as much you were hoping
- 15:58Speaker 2: that he'd be able to run more more routes. Right,
- 16:01Speaker 2: So that's what it comes down to. But I'm with you, now,
- 16:04Speaker 2: who's your three?
- 16:05Speaker 1: I do think wait, I do think we need to
- 16:08Speaker 1: enter a third game into a third name and lots
- 16:11Speaker 1: of yes, And I wanted to ask you let's talk
- 16:14Speaker 1: about his contract comparatively too, because if you're gonna take
- 16:19Speaker 1: all three, you would have to say a lot two
- 16:22Speaker 1: who played for the forty nine ers first, he was
- 16:24Speaker 1: drafted by them before he came to the Eagles, has
- 16:26Speaker 1: experienced in this system and has more to offer as
- 16:31Speaker 1: far as the full arsenal than say Mont or Calcata. Like,
- 16:36Speaker 1: I'm not saying he catches the ball as well as Calcultara.
- 16:38Speaker 1: He doesn't, but he blocks better than Calcuttara. And he
- 16:41Speaker 1: may not block.
- 16:42Speaker 3: As well as Mont, but he catches the ball better
- 16:44Speaker 3: than Month.
- 16:45Speaker 1: So you may have a situation where you feel like
- 16:48Speaker 1: he should be the third tight end.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I'm with you. It's a good it's a good thought.
- 16:54Speaker 2: He's got to have a lights out camp. I agree,
- 16:57Speaker 2: because Mont was brought in as a West Coast off.
- 17:00Speaker 2: It's a specialist. He knows his system, the only system
- 17:03Speaker 2: he's played in. He's been in League a lot of years.
- 17:05Speaker 2: You're concerned that the Jaguars cut him Anyway's thirty one
- 17:08Speaker 2: years old, So does he have anything left? I would
- 17:11Speaker 2: say kind of like c. J Uzama. We knew really
- 17:17Speaker 2: early on he could. He didn't move very well like
- 17:19Speaker 2: he was going to make it, and they brought him
- 17:20Speaker 2: in to be that backup. Why it just didn't make it.
- 17:24Speaker 2: So we'll learn early on. If Mott looks good, he'll
- 17:26Speaker 2: be here one way or the other. And if not,
- 17:30Speaker 2: my I'm with you. My my money would be on
- 17:32Speaker 2: lat too, who's no guarantee money in his contract.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I I for the sake of a really good
- 17:39Speaker 1: rationale and argument, without really knowing what's going to happen,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I chose Latsu over Mont and Calcutta because I, like
- 17:46Speaker 1: I mentioned, it was more of the best of both worlds. Now, obviously,
- 17:49Speaker 1: if he doesn't perform well in camp, then he's not.
- 17:52Speaker 1: As you mentioned, it's gonna go to Mont, or it's
- 17:53Speaker 1: gonna go to Calcutta or whatever. But you know, I'm
- 17:57Speaker 1: I wanted to do this with some rationale and thought
- 18:00Speaker 1: in mind, and if he has a really good camp,
- 18:02Speaker 1: he would be an easy choice to keep over those
- 18:04Speaker 1: other two because you could probably definitely get those other
- 18:07Speaker 1: two back on your practice squad.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and lots who is the better athlete, He's definitely
- 18:11Speaker 2: the better and special teams by the way, special teams,
- 18:13Speaker 2: yeah he is. Oh yeah, special teams yep. Yeah, and
- 18:16Speaker 2: then da kwon right for him to make it, he's
- 18:19Speaker 2: also got to be lights out, like big time lights out,
- 18:22Speaker 2: and he's capable of but he's healthy, sure shoulder injuries.
- 18:25Speaker 2: So it's Cocoateraro to me, seems like the odd man
- 18:28Speaker 2: out because he just got exposed badly trying to block, right.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Can't have that when they got to get their running
- 18:34Speaker 2: game back. I agree.
- 18:36Speaker 3: All right, So you did go with month though, right,
- 18:39Speaker 3: that was your thing?
- 18:40Speaker 1: Yeah, right, yeah, lots here, So basically we have the
- 18:42Speaker 1: same Yeah, we have the same sixteen right now except
- 18:45Speaker 1: for one guy. And yep, it's really just one guy
- 18:48Speaker 1: at the same position. All right, o line, we finished
- 18:52Speaker 1: this off with line and by the way, neither of
- 18:54Speaker 1: us kept.
- 18:54Speaker 2: A full back, So yeah, no, we're same. Where's Van
- 18:59Speaker 2: Suman Buffalo? Yes? Right? And they didn't even bring it.
- 19:03Speaker 2: They brought in who's the guy from Kansas City.
- 19:06Speaker 1: We didn't make Carson Steel, Yeah, Carson Steele. But he's
- 19:09Speaker 1: I mean he's listed as a running back.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Well, I I just don't see him. Well and lat
- 19:13Speaker 2: two could do. We'll see what happens in training camp.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Whether they didn't look point, they didn't seem to do
- 19:18Speaker 2: want anything like that. Uh in o t a's a right,
- 19:22Speaker 2: Let's get to offensive line.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Yep, yep, and really no way we have exactly what's
- 19:27Speaker 1: that really, it's just a question about the backups.
- 19:29Speaker 2: We know who. Yeah, yeah, so all right, I've got eleven.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I bounce from ten to eleven. This is another one
- 19:37Speaker 2: which gave me a little bit of a challenge. Okay, Dickerson, Steen,
- 19:42Speaker 2: Dickerson Stein of course, jargons my Latta and Johnson. Right,
- 19:47Speaker 2: my backups, Fred Johnson, mar Kel Bell, Miles hitting. Now
- 19:53Speaker 2: he got cross trained at guard. That's important. That got
- 19:56Speaker 2: him on the team. Yeah, Cam Williams mm hmm. Kendall
- 20:02Speaker 2: is it back of center prostrated guard and Mars is
- 20:06Speaker 2: my leven.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans game day is stressful enough. Parking traffic,
- 20:11Speaker 3: long lines.
- 20:12Speaker 1: We've all been there, But when it comes to your cannabis,
- 20:15Speaker 1: Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is the dispensary for
- 20:20Speaker 1: sports fans, just minutes outside of Philly with plenty of

- 20:25Speaker 1: Fast, no hassle, no waiting, and they don't just care
- 20:28Speaker 1: about convenience. Camden Apothecary is all about the guest experience.

- 20:40Speaker 1: quality cannabis at the fairest prices, so whether you're stocking

- 20:52Speaker 1: They even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 20:56Speaker 1: service members, and healthcare pros. To carry top quality cannabis,
- 21:02Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Twenty one and up. Okay, so we've were very similar.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I originally had eleven and then you know, we obviously
- 21:14Speaker 1: will do the defense in the next one. But I
- 21:16Speaker 1: just I needed room, right, So I'm like, where can
- 21:19Speaker 1: I where can I shave off some room? So I
- 21:21Speaker 1: wound up cutting because I have the same other five
- 21:25Speaker 1: backups as you, Fred Johnson, Drew Kendall, Mark Helbell, Michaeh Morris,
- 21:30Speaker 1: and Cameron Williams.
- 21:31Speaker 2: But I did cut Miles Hinton.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I did consider the guard and that might be a
- 21:37Speaker 1: good But here's the thing, we don't know if they
- 21:38Speaker 1: like what they see.
- 21:39Speaker 2: They're just experimenting. Yeah. Wait, they won't know to the
- 21:42Speaker 2: d training campaign of.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Course, So like without the without the knowledge of how
- 21:46Speaker 1: well he'll perform there, I said, I'm gonna make him
- 21:49Speaker 1: expendable for the sake of keeping.
- 21:52Speaker 2: When we do our.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Defensive podcasts in the next episode, you'll see I wanted
- 21:56Speaker 1: to go deeper at another spot, and that's why I
- 21:59Speaker 1: shaved off Miles Head.
- 22:01Speaker 2: All right, cool, cool, Well that's so you and I
- 22:04Speaker 2: were kind of talk here, man.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I mean, like, really, other than offensive only is the
- 22:08Speaker 1: only one where he kept a different number and tight end,
- 22:11Speaker 1: it was the only one where he kept a different name.
- 22:13Speaker 3: But we're pretty much.
- 22:15Speaker 2: The same the whole way on on out. Yeah, it's
- 22:19Speaker 2: not that Howie isn't willing to cut his draft picks
- 22:22Speaker 2: its fifth, sixth, or seventh round. It depends on the position.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Quarterbacks an important position now if you want to training camp.
- 22:31Speaker 2: You knew that there's no way they could. They could
- 22:34Speaker 2: the generally keep McCord on the roster. He was awful,
- 22:37Speaker 2: to be honest with training Camp. He just it was like, boy,
- 22:41Speaker 2: it was to the point where like he's a right
- 22:43Speaker 2: handed throwers, Like, is he hurt? Right? He cannot get
- 22:46Speaker 2: that ball past fifteen years with any juice on it? Right? Right?
- 22:50Speaker 2: But yeah, it's I didn't think defense was way more challenging,
- 22:55Speaker 2: way more that that one. That was the one that
- 22:57Speaker 2: took me the longest was defense. Off is actually fairly
- 23:00Speaker 2: quick to call Peyton challenge. But on the next show
- 23:04Speaker 2: you're gonna hear defense because yeah, yeah, I have to
- 23:07Speaker 2: take special teams consideration and understand, like you know, which
- 23:12Speaker 2: which position guys count as because if nobody gets hurt
- 23:16Speaker 2: as the Eagles learner. In twenty seventeen, when Jordan Hicks
- 23:19Speaker 2: tours Achilles, when Peter's toys ACL, when sproulsed toward his ACL.
- 23:26Speaker 2: In fact, h Hicks tours Achilles and Peters tour the
- 23:30Speaker 2: ACL in the same game against Washington. It's Washington in
- 23:35Speaker 2: week seven, and that's early to lose big time to
- 23:38Speaker 2: big time players and who would have known that the
- 23:41Speaker 2: guy was good. He made the team. Joe Walker wound
- 23:43Speaker 2: up starting some.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Games amazing, Right, yeah, I remember that, Joe Walker.
- 23:48Speaker 2: What a name from the Oregon How about that? Yeah?
- 23:50Speaker 2: I think so? Yeah, all right.
- 23:54Speaker 1: The reason why defense is challenging, Adam is also because,
- 23:58Speaker 1: of course, you know, based on just what we did
- 23:59Speaker 1: on Allen, you kept twenty seven players on offense. I
- 24:03Speaker 1: kept twenty six because you kept Miles Hinton, right, Yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 1: that means you only have room for twenty three players
- 24:09Speaker 1: on defense.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and I have room for twenty four.
- 24:11Speaker 1: So either way, we're getting less defensive players when there's
- 24:14Speaker 1: a bigger pool to choose from. And even if you
- 24:17Speaker 1: and I both decide that the Eagles aren't gonna roster
- 24:21Speaker 1: a long snapper for the first few weeks and try
- 24:23Speaker 1: to elevate him, it's still oh you do Okay, Well
- 24:26Speaker 1: I was gonna say it still would only create one
- 24:28Speaker 1: more like, there's still gonna be more offensive players than
- 24:31Speaker 1: defensive players. So that makes the next podcast really interesting.
- 24:35Speaker 1: On defense, well, I got one, I got I got one.
- 24:38Speaker 2: There's no way you got to. I don't want to
- 24:39Speaker 2: give it away. There's no way you got this guy
- 24:41Speaker 2: in the roster. Okay, we'll see.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Let's see about that, all right, great stuff, that's gonna
- 24:46Speaker 3: do it.
- 24:46Speaker 1: For the offensive version of our fifty three man roster
- 24:50Speaker 1: projection for Adam Kaplan, I'm Jeff Moscher. Thanks for watching
