- 0:01Speaker 1: Get Mark on demand by setting a presead for his
- 0:04Speaker 1: podcast on the iHeartRadio app. Now back to Mark Simone
- 0:08Speaker 1: on wor Hey, let's they can calls. Eight hundred three
- 0:19Speaker 1: to two one zero seven ten is the number eight
- 0:22Speaker 1: hundred three two one zero seven ten. Let's go to
- 0:25Speaker 1: Marty in Connecticut. Marty, how you doing?
- 0:28Speaker 2: I'm god man. I'm talking about the death of CBS
- 0:31Speaker 2: News on CBS Good Morning Yesterday. And the guy who
- 0:37Speaker 2: reports is really the silver haired guy. I can't even
- 0:40Speaker 2: watch him, but he missed a lot of points like
- 0:44Speaker 2: Walter Cronkite a sound bited him once, didn't talk about
- 0:48Speaker 2: the guy who discovered CBS Sunday Morning. And you can
- 0:52Speaker 2: see the inconsistency of this awful. I used to listen
- 0:56Speaker 2: to the eighths out of New York all the time,
- 0:58Speaker 2: but it they're always so bad.
- 1:02Speaker 1: So you just found out CBS News is not CBS
- 1:05Speaker 1: News anymore.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want to listen to the news, but
- 1:08Speaker 2: I wont No.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It's a terrible. It's terrible. It's not nothing like it was.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It's totally biased. It's just awful. That's why they brought
- 1:14Speaker 1: in Barry Weiss. Maybe you can get it back. It's
- 1:18Speaker 1: never going to be what it was, but get it
- 1:19Speaker 1: back in that direction. You gotta remember, back then, television
- 1:22Speaker 1: ned millions and millions and millions of you, you know,
- 1:25Speaker 1: Walter Kronkit, twenty million people who watch them at night
- 1:28Speaker 1: nightly news. Now you're lucky if you get four million,
- 1:31Speaker 1: even these Sunday shows. You know, it used to be
- 1:33Speaker 1: ten million, twelve million, fifteen. Now the Sunday shows are
- 1:35Speaker 1: one million. So you're not going to be able to,
- 1:38Speaker 1: you know, pay for a big news toad. You know,
- 1:40Speaker 1: back in the good old days, had Walter Cronkite, Eric Sevright,
- 1:43Speaker 1: Bob Sheeffer, you had Dan Reddy, had a million giant names,
- 1:46Speaker 1: Roger Mudd all in this one news room. You can
- 1:49Speaker 1: you can't afford that anymore. Now it's a I mean
- 1:52Speaker 1: different thing. You see a time where if you ask
- 1:55Speaker 1: anybody who's the anchor the CBS Evening News, nobody could
- 1:58Speaker 1: tell you. Nobody would know. Go to the CBS building,
- 2:01Speaker 1: ask people, half of them won't know. Nobody knows. Let's
- 2:04Speaker 1: go to let's go to Mark in South Carolina. Mark,
- 2:08Speaker 1: how you doing good, sir? How are you today? I'm
- 2:12Speaker 1: glad to be on the air with you. These guys
- 2:15Speaker 1: are these aliens. They keep coming from god knows where,
- 2:20Speaker 1: from millions and millions of miles. How come they keep
- 2:23Speaker 1: crashing if they're so smart, Well, and they're all crash
- 2:26Speaker 1: And the good news is where you South Carolina? The
- 2:28Speaker 1: good news they all go to South Carolina. They never
- 2:30Speaker 1: come here. They don't bother us in New York. That's two.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Can you figure that out? Where they're trying to save
- 2:35Speaker 1: money in Texas? Why are they in South Carolina or
- 2:37Speaker 1: New Mexico or all these kind of places.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Well, well, they are saving taxes and they don't have
- 2:42Speaker 3: to worship hocel.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah. Well you guys like to rub it in, don't you. Anyway? Good,
- 2:48Speaker 1: thank you for calling. Let's go to Michael in beautiful
- 2:51Speaker 1: Oyster Bay. How you doing, Michael?
- 2:54Speaker 4: Hey?
- 2:55Speaker 3: Mark, I think all this UFO hype and going on
- 2:57Speaker 3: now is just to promote Steven Spielberg's movie coming out
- 3:00Speaker 3: about actually terrestrials.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Well but the president. It's all coming out because the
- 3:06Speaker 1: President released the files. But who knows, maybe he's trying
- 3:09Speaker 1: to help.
- 3:09Speaker 4: The movie paid Oyster.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Bay that's a good place for it. See, if I
- 3:14Speaker 1: were a UFO, i'd go to Oyster Bay.
- 3:16Speaker 5: You got oh, we have some aliens, ye have probably, but.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You got Wild Honey, that great restaurant. It's in the
- 3:21Speaker 1: it's in the building that was Theodore Roosevelt's summer white house.
- 3:25Speaker 1: You got Cooper Bluff.
- 3:26Speaker 4: It's yeah, his cemetery, his plot is here too.
- 3:29Speaker 5: In Oyster Bay is great, really great place.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Actually, yeah, and you can his house is there. Thanks
- 3:35Speaker 1: for calling, Michael. You can take a tour of theatre
- 3:37Speaker 1: Roosevelt's house. It's the most fascinating tour. They walk you
- 3:40Speaker 1: around and they go this is the floor, here's this
- 3:44Speaker 1: is a dining room table. He would sit here and
- 3:47Speaker 1: he would eat dinner. This is the living room, and
- 3:50Speaker 1: it's like the silliest tour. Let's go to rich in
- 3:53Speaker 1: Myrtle Beach. Rich How you doing.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Thanks for a couple of quick points. So spows the aliens.
- 3:58Speaker 3: I believe when I see it. By my wife has
- 4:01Speaker 3: she watched She listens to Coast to Coast and watches
- 4:04Speaker 3: ancient aliens on TV. She's all about this kind of stuff,
- 4:07Speaker 3: you know, but I'll believe it when I see it.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Well, there's two toads of people in the world. There's
- 4:10Speaker 1: people that don't believe any of the stuff. And there's
- 4:13Speaker 1: people that desperately want to believe this. Not desperately, but
- 4:15Speaker 1: they enjoy believing this. It's a fun hobby. They want
- 4:18Speaker 1: to believe this. Like you couldn't care less. Your wife
- 4:21Speaker 1: wants to believe this. She loves it.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, but like I said, I'll believe it when
- 4:27Speaker 3: I see it. But she's all about it, you know. Uh,
- 4:30Speaker 3: this Trump and this Iran. You know, sometimes Trump can
- 4:33Speaker 3: want to deal so bad he'll stole a little bit
- 4:35Speaker 3: longer than he really should have. I think he should
- 4:36Speaker 3: have gone back in and just blown them all the hell,
- 4:39Speaker 3: just like he was talking about. And I don't know
- 4:40Speaker 3: if you covered it, but Virginia wants to get rid
- 4:44Speaker 3: of all they you it, all their Supreme Court justices
- 4:47Speaker 3: and say they're too old and make the thing fifty
- 4:49Speaker 3: four years old. And then you want to repack the
- 4:52Speaker 3: court just to get their redistricting plan. If that doesn't
- 4:56Speaker 3: show you how insane and how evil Democrats are.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Nothing, well, just desperate. Yeah, they want to uh, and
- 5:03Speaker 1: they want to make fifty four mandatory retirement age for
- 5:06Speaker 1: their Supreme Court.
- 5:07Speaker 3: That's younger than a pilot. That's younger than a pilot.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, so you want a guy over fifty four.
- 5:12Speaker 1: He's got more, more experience, you know, more wisdom. That's
- 5:14Speaker 1: what you want. Let's go to Mark in Uh, how
- 5:18Speaker 1: do you say that? Hop it con New Jersey? Hope
- 5:20Speaker 1: it con?
- 5:21Speaker 3: Ah?
- 5:21Speaker 5: Try again, it's hole pat Con.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Why can't you get some normal names? I want you
- 5:27Speaker 1: right now, get rid of these Indian names, like what's
- 5:29Speaker 1: it called?
- 5:29Speaker 3: Like?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Hope it hop it con?
- 5:32Speaker 5: Ho pat Con? Very easy?
- 5:34Speaker 1: Oh? Pat Con? No, it's not very easy. Hole pat Conn.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Obviously you've never been here. It's amazing now here for
- 5:41Speaker 5: New Jersey. It's a little piece of paradise. Oops. I
- 5:43Speaker 5: shouldn't put that on the air.
- 5:44Speaker 1: It's very nice. It's not amazing. I mean when people
- 5:48Speaker 1: go there to go, oh my god, this is amazing.
- 5:51Speaker 1: It's nice.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Well for New Jersey, for New Jersey.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Oh all right, and what do you want to say, Mark?
- 6:00Speaker 4: Oh?
- 6:01Speaker 5: Well, I'm upset with the state. They're allowing gouging to
- 6:04Speaker 5: go on. Where if you remember, during COVID, they would
- 6:07Speaker 5: prosecute anybody for gouging, and here you have the state
- 6:11Speaker 5: gouging these New Jersey transit writers who have to go
- 6:14Speaker 5: see that soccer game or the FIFA, which I care
- 6:18Speaker 5: less about, But how can they get away with gouging
- 6:20Speaker 5: at that percentage when it would be illegal for any
- 6:23Speaker 5: other entity.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Well, it is New Jersey. Did you ever see your
- 6:25Speaker 1: government there? Did you ever see these please balls you
- 6:29Speaker 1: got in that legislature? You ever see who's around the governor?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Look at the governor. I mean, you can't expect much
- 6:35Speaker 1: out of these people.
- 6:35Speaker 5: We get what we vote for. We deserve it, that's true.
- 6:39Speaker 1: All right, Well, thanks for calling, Mark. Let's go to
- 6:41Speaker 1: Ed in Allentown, Pennsylvania. How you doing Ed?
- 6:45Speaker 4: Good morning, Mark, Thanks for taking my call. You made
- 6:48Speaker 4: me think of a personal best friend of mine who
- 6:50Speaker 4: died of food poisoning. Poisoning, and he had traveled to
- 6:53Speaker 4: China regularly. He had some contract business over there, and
- 6:57Speaker 4: he swore that the Chinese poison them, not if aspoovable
- 7:02Speaker 4: or not.
- 7:03Speaker 1: It has happened badly. Although if you've been to China,
- 7:07Speaker 1: much of it is the dirtiest place on Earth. It's
- 7:09Speaker 1: all kinds of pollution and crap and everything in the water.
- 7:12Speaker 3: He said he loved it.
- 7:13Speaker 5: He said he loved it over there.
- 7:15Speaker 4: But one of the reasons for my call is a
- 7:17Speaker 4: suggestion that maybe he could bring the Coceen Jeffries over
- 7:21Speaker 4: his food taster with him.
- 7:22Speaker 1: No, no, no, Yeah, it is pretty filthy. I mean
- 7:25Speaker 1: there's parts of China, even major cities like Beigeting, where
- 7:28Speaker 1: you can't even see the air is so thick with pollution,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and if you drink the water every day that you're there,
- 7:34Speaker 1: you'll probably not live much longer after that. It's really
- 7:37Speaker 1: polluted over there. Hey, when we come back, we'll talk
- 7:40Speaker 1: to the greatest columnists in the world. Michael Goodwin coming
- 7:44Speaker 1: up next. Lots to talk to him about right here
- 7:46Speaker 1: on seven to ten wor
