Bald eagles Jackie and Shadow are safe thanks to a viral fundraising campaign that hit its $10 million goal—thanks in part to a $5.5 million donation from OpenAI co-founders Greg and Anna Brockman. Over 25,000 people rallied to save Moon Camp, a 63-acre sanctuary in Big Bear Valley from housing development, preserving it for eagles, flying squirrels, and rare plants. The San Bernardino Mountain Land Trust will finalize the purchase by July 31, and any extra funds will support ongoing conservation efforts.
