- 0:16with grace and hope and love.
- 0:18I mean, I would be proud to be in this house.
- 0:20It was an honor.
- 0:21I had so much fun.
- 0:22Tune in every Monday
- 0:23for the Revolution of Purpose solo show
- 0:25and every Thursday for Revolution of Purpose Conversation.
- 0:31Welcome to the Revolution of Purpose podcast.
- 0:33My name is Jon Street.
- 0:34I'm a mindset coach, a speaker.
- 0:36I'm the author of the book, Revolution of Purpose.
- 0:40And most importantly, I'm someone who spent years
- 0:42searching for purpose, fulfillment, and alignment.
- 0:46And I finally found that success
- 0:49when it wasn't just based on money
- 0:51or the things that I owned,
- 0:53but it was actually purpose-driven success.
- 0:57So if you've ever felt unsuccessful
- 1:00or you've ever felt like maybe your reality was successful,
- 1:03but deep down you didn't feel fulfilled,
- 1:06or if you've ever felt like
- 1:07there has to be more to your life,
- 1:08or maybe there are things that keep you stuck,
- 1:11maybe there are limiting beliefs
- 1:12that you just can't get past,
- 1:15if you've ever wondered what your purpose is,
- 1:18then you are in the right place.
- 1:20Today, I want to talk to you about a question
- 1:22that sounds simple,
- 1:24but has the power to change your entire life.
- 1:27Have you ever felt that you were someone
- 1:30in a situation that wasn't bad,
- 1:33but it just wasn't right anymore?
- 1:35Let's dive in.
- 1:37So have you ever felt like
- 1:38there was a tug towards something more?
- 1:41Even though what you currently had seemed to be working,
- 1:44like maybe it looked right on paper,
- 1:46but you just knew there was something deeper
- 1:48or something else you're supposed to do.
- 1:50Basically, I would say it's like outgrowing a season of life
- 1:55but you stay in that season because it felt safe.
- 1:58Most personal growth conversations
- 2:00focus on removing negative things.
- 2:03And before I can even move on
- 2:05with this purpose conversation today,
- 2:07I want to talk to you about that.
- 2:09Like before we can talk about identifying the good
- 2:11that may not serve you anymore,
- 2:13we do have to talk about the bad.
- 2:15Because if you're still in an environment
- 2:18that is really negative or that's bringing you down,
- 2:21that has to be handled first.
- 2:22That has to be handled before you can do anything else
- 2:26about identifying what things are good
- 2:28but still not serving you.
- 2:30So if you're in an environment
- 2:31and let's say you're surrounded by toxic people,
- 2:34you're surrounded by people
- 2:35who are bringing down your energy.
- 2:37Maybe you're surrounded by people
- 2:39who act like they support you,
- 2:41but behind your back, they don't.
- 2:44You've got to cut ties with those people
- 2:46or put down some really awesome boundaries
- 2:49that you can live by.
- 2:50Sorry if I just threw up,
- 2:51but I saw my dog Judah hop up on the ottoman.
- 2:54And as you know, he's the actual star
- 2:56of this entire podcast.
- 2:58If you see him walking around, don't worry.
- 3:00It's perfectly normal.
- 3:01He may even talk.
- 3:02He is a husky rescue, so I wouldn't be surprised.
- 3:05But back to what we're talking about.
- 3:06If your environment is full of toxicity,
- 3:09if your environment is full of negativity,
- 3:12then that is bringing you down
- 3:14in ways that you may not even realize.
- 3:16It's affecting your energy.
- 3:18And our energy is all that we have.
- 3:21At the end of the day,
- 3:22what we're putting out there as our energy
- 3:24is what we're giving back.
- 3:26So I want to ask you,
- 3:28I asked this in the first solo episode,
- 3:30but what things are you tolerating?
- 3:32What negative things in your life
- 3:35are affecting your energy?
- 3:36So it can be toxic people.
- 3:38And like I said, maybe you cut those people off.
- 3:40Maybe you put down some really good boundaries
- 3:44of how to deal with those people.
- 3:46It could be toxic relationships.
- 3:48That can be family.
- 3:50That can be friends.
- 3:51That can be your spouse.
- 3:52And I'm not saying that you leave those people.
- 3:54I'm not saying you cut those people off,
- 3:56but especially if it's someone
- 3:58that you have to interact with all the time,
- 4:01then I would encourage you to put down the boundaries
- 4:03that you need to protect your mental health
- 4:05and then see if you can get them to go to counseling
- 4:07with you so that you can work these things together.
- 4:10If you have narcissistic people in your life,
- 4:12people that don't have your best interests at heart,
- 4:16those are where the boundaries are most important.
- 4:18Because those people, if you're not careful,
- 4:21will form a codependent relationship with you
- 4:23and you'll form a codependent relationship with them.
- 4:25And before you know it,
- 4:27you are going to be quieting your voice,
- 4:30shrinking, staying in the corner
- 4:33because you want to withhold the image
- 4:35that they think you should have.
- 4:37And it has nothing to do with the image
- 4:39that you want to have.
- 4:41So first of all, get rid of the toxicity.
- 4:44Boundaries are cutting them off.
- 4:46Next, look at your environment
- 4:47and see what things are causing you
- 4:49to have limiting beliefs.
- 4:50These could be people
- 4:51that are actually positive in your life,
- 4:53but maybe they see you in a certain way.
- 4:55And because of that, you see yourself in a certain way.
- 4:58They may mean nothing negative about it.
- 5:01It could be things from your childhood,
- 5:03teachers or friends or pastors or clergy people.
- 5:09It could be your parents.
- 5:11It could be people who told you when you were young,
- 5:13they've instilled with you this paradigm of thinking,
- 5:15maybe about money.
- 5:18For my parents, growing up,
- 5:20my parents were just above working poor.
- 5:22I mean, we were lower middle class.
- 5:25They worked their tails off
- 5:27to try to give us everything that they could.
- 5:29And they were wonderful people.
- 5:31But I can remember as a young kid at five years old,
- 5:35seeing them getting evicted.
- 5:37I can remember seeing the house being foreclosed on.
- 5:39I can remember seeing people coming through our home
- 5:43and buying our furniture out from under us.
- 5:46Even the dining room table that our knickknacks
- 5:49were sitting on, they were selling the knickknacks
- 5:50and they sold the table too.
- 5:53And that instilled in me that you can be successful,
- 5:56but you could lose it like that.
- 5:58It instilled to me, not that wealthy people were bad,
- 6:01but just that wealthy people were other.
- 6:05So when you notice these limiting beliefs,
- 6:07you may not have chosen them yourselves,
- 6:09but they could be dictating how you're living your life.
- 6:13And I tell you, if you don't stop the limiting beliefs,
- 6:15they will just continue to grow and grow and grow.
- 6:18And how you're living your life will keep following
- 6:21that same paradigm of thinking
- 6:23that you never chose to begin with.
- 6:26So another area in your environment
- 6:27that could be holding you back is your negative thinking.
- 6:31It could be that paradigm that they instilled
- 6:35when you were younger.
- 6:36It could be the negative people that you're around.
- 6:38It could be those things that you're feeding yourself.
- 6:41I used to go to the gym and listen
- 6:43to like real crime podcasts.
- 6:46You know, I was like, oh my gosh,
- 6:47I wanna hear this real crime podcast.
- 6:49It was very interesting to me.
- 6:51Until one day I realized that every time I left the gym,
- 6:54I felt worse instead of better.
- 6:57And so then when I started going to the gym
- 6:59and I started instead listening to amazing thought leaders
- 7:02and motivational speakers, you know, like Bob Proctor
- 7:05or Jim Rohn or Les Brown or David Bayer.
- 7:09I mean, I would just listen to these amazing speakers
- 7:12and every time I would leave the gym,
- 7:14I just felt like I had not just worked out my body,
- 7:16but I worked out my mind.
- 7:18And that was one way that I got rid
- 7:21of the negative thinking.
- 7:22That was one way that I raised my energy.
- 7:25I raised my vibration.
- 7:26Another thing that could be holding you back are addictions.
- 7:30It could be addictions.
- 7:31It could be self-sabotaging habits,
- 7:33but either way, if you are dealing with something
- 7:36that is habitual that you cannot break,
- 7:39I implore you to get the help that you need.
- 7:43Sometimes that's with coaching.
- 7:43Sometimes that's with a counselor.
- 7:45Sometimes that's with a therapist,
- 7:46but whatever that looks like,
- 7:48dive in and deal with those things
- 7:50that are keeping you back.
- 7:52In my own coaching program,
- 7:53I have several clients that I really enjoy working with
- 7:57and they are either in recovery
- 7:59or they have a history of addiction,
- 8:01but they've come through recovery.
- 8:03And I enjoy working with them and it is amazing.
- 8:06One of them in particular went
- 8:07from absolutely losing everything rock bottom.
- 8:11And as we work together,
- 8:12she is building this amazing life of independence again
- 8:15with sobriety.
- 8:17But there are people who wanna work with me
- 8:20that are still in the throes of addiction and I just can't.
- 8:23I keep telling them until you get the work
- 8:26that you need for addiction recovery,
- 8:28then we can't coach together
- 8:30because that's one of these basic things
- 8:32you have to have handled.
- 8:34It doesn't mean you have to be sober for 20 years,
- 8:37but it means you do need to be working
- 8:39through whatever that addiction is.
- 8:41You need to be in active recovery
- 8:43because coaching goes on top of that.
- 8:45Coaching does not replace that.
- 8:47It's like therapy and counseling.
- 8:49A good coach will tell you,
- 8:51I'm not your therapist and I'm not your counselor,
- 8:54but I work great alongside them.
- 8:56You have therapy, you have counseling,
- 8:58those are on one level.
- 8:59And then coaching is above that,
- 9:01just trying to get you to live the best life
- 9:03in the present that you can.
- 9:04So while so many in personal growth
- 9:06talk about removing the negative things,
- 9:09and I've just talked about that because it's so important,
- 9:12what I really wanna dive in with you today
- 9:16is about something much more difficult.
- 9:19It's not about leaving behind the bad,
- 9:21leaving behind the toxicity,
- 9:23leaving behind the things that you know
- 9:25are keeping you down.
- 9:27It's actually about leaving behind the good.
- 9:31And that's why the episode today
- 9:33is called Don't Stay in Yesterday's Success.
- 9:36So yeah, before we can talk about the good things,
- 9:38we address removing the bad things.
- 9:40And many people want greatness
- 9:42while still tolerating the things
- 9:44that are actively hurting you.
- 9:46So I implore you, get rid of the toxic relationships,
- 9:50get rid of the negative influences,
- 9:52get rid of that negative victim mentality.
- 9:55Deal with those addictions,
- 9:56deal with those self-destructive habits, and you can.
- 9:59I was addicted to food for my whole life, just about.
- 10:04If I was upset, I ate.
- 10:05If I was happy, I ate.
- 10:06If I was stressed, I ate.
- 10:08If I was at peace, I ate.
- 10:09Like, that's it, food was my everything.
- 10:11And it took, to lose weight,
- 10:13it took working with a counselor and a mindset coach
- 10:17to help me realize that this did not match
- 10:19with the person that I desired to be.
- 10:21So you can overcome these self-destructive habits.
- 10:24And a lot of times, the miracle of this type of sobriety
- 10:28and overcoming addiction happens
- 10:31in a long-term transformation.
- 10:32We want things to happen just like that.
- 10:35We want them to happen to a blink of an eye.
- 10:38And sometimes they do.
- 10:39I don't doubt the power of God,
- 10:41the universe of God is our higher understanding
- 10:44to just take something away.
- 10:46But more times than not,
- 10:48we see that God will be taking it away
- 10:51as we do our part, too, and we go through the process.
- 10:54So let me tell you about purpose.
- 10:56Purpose is something that I feel like we all have within us.
- 11:02And it is something that is placed in our heart
- 11:04from the very beginning.
- 11:05And that when we flow in this purpose,
- 11:08we start to really live a peaceful, fulfilled life.
- 11:13Deepak Chopra refers to this as living your dharma.
- 11:17When you're doing the thing within you
- 11:19that shines your light the brightest,
- 11:21that's the light that people need.
- 11:23That's the light that everyone in your environment needs.
- 11:26Like when you're shining your light,
- 11:28you're changing your home, you're changing your community.
- 11:30That'll eventually change the city, the state,
- 11:33the country you live in, the world.
- 11:36When you do that, you're living your purpose.
- 11:39But purpose grows in healthy soil.
- 11:42So eventually, you do the work to change the negativity.
- 11:46Eventually, you remove the obvious obstacles
- 11:49that you know are standing in your way.
- 11:51Eventually, you become that healthier emotionally,
- 11:54spiritually, mentally, and physically person.
- 11:57And then that new question appears.
- 12:00You've grown out of the muck.
- 12:02You've improved the soil.
- 12:04And then all of a sudden, you have to ask yourself,
- 12:06what if nothing in my life is necessarily bad anymore?
- 12:11So the new question becomes not what is hurting you,
- 12:15but what is no longer helping you
- 12:17become who you're called to be?
- 12:20I remember clearly having to ask myself,
- 12:23what is hurting me?
- 12:25What is no longer helping me become who I am called to be?
- 12:29You know, there are such things as good jobs,
- 12:34good opportunities, good routines,
- 12:36good identities, good relationships,
- 12:39good business models, good seasons in life.
- 12:42Not everything that limits your growth is toxic.
- 12:46Sometimes, it's just good.
- 12:48Sometimes, the greatest barrier to greatness
- 12:52isn't something bad, it's something good.
- 12:55The first stage of growth is removing the bad.
- 12:59The next stage of growth is having the courage
- 13:01to outgrow the good.
- 13:04And this is where many people get stuck.
- 13:07Because you see, good is comfortable.
- 13:09Good pays the bills.
- 13:11Good gives you applause sometimes.
- 13:14Good gives us reasons to stay in a season we've outgrown.
- 13:19But my friends don't stay in yesterday's success.
- 13:22So for many years, I had a W-2 job.
- 13:25I worked for a flooring company.
- 13:28For a couple, in fact.
- 13:29And I had a niche.
- 13:31I sold flooring to apartment communities.
- 13:33And I enjoyed it.
- 13:34And I was darn good at it.
- 13:35I really, I enjoyed selling to people this flooring
- 13:39because it was something they needed,
- 13:40especially in apartments.
- 13:41Like every time someone moved out, someone needed flooring.
- 13:43So the part of me that was always worried
- 13:46about bugging people, you know,
- 13:49that part of me was sort of turned off
- 13:50because I knew that what I was giving them
- 13:52was something they needed.
- 13:53And I was meeting a need.
- 13:55So I'm like, this is good, this is awesome.
- 13:56And I became successful of it,
- 13:58became the director of sales of the company I was at.
- 14:01I had people working for me.
- 14:02I was getting to train.
- 14:04And I built this over many years.
- 14:06And my friends, nothing was broken.
- 14:09I wasn't running from something terrible.
- 14:12The money was good.
- 14:14The opportunity was good.
- 14:15The people I worked with were good.
- 14:17The real issue was that I knew that I had outgrown it.
- 14:23I knew that this career of almost 20 years
- 14:27was sunsetting.
- 14:28It was coming to an end.
- 14:28And I had become successful at something
- 14:30that no longer aligned with who I was becoming.
- 14:34Please pardon me while I interrupt your podcast
- 14:36with a word from your sponsor, me.

- 15:12to schedule a free purpose and clarity call with me.

- 15:42And now let's get back to this podcast.
- 15:45Success, my friends, can become a trap.
- 15:48I've heard the W-2 jobs referred to as golden handcuffs.
- 15:53Ah, that is such an apt analogy.
- 15:57That thing that is keeping us from following our dreams
- 16:01because we don't want to let go of the gold.
- 16:04And it keeps us handcuffed.
- 16:06Success creates comfort, it creates familiarity.
- 16:10It earns validation.
- 16:12Success makes it harder to leave.
- 16:15The thing that got you here may not be the thing
- 16:18that's supposed to take you where you're going.
- 16:20Let me say that again.
- 16:22The thing that got you here may not be the thing
- 16:27that's supposed to take you where you're going.
- 16:30So where are you staying simply?
- 16:33Because it worked in the past.
- 16:34Think about a plant for a minute.
- 16:36You know, if you have a small plant when you first get it,
- 16:40it may just have one or two stalks or blooms on it,
- 16:43and you have it in that small little container.
- 16:45Well, the first thing you have to do
- 16:46is take it out of that container
- 16:47and put it in a little bit of a bigger pot
- 16:50so that the roots can grow.
- 16:53You add some more good dirt, some soil, some manure.
- 16:56You add the nutrients, the healthiness
- 16:58that that plant needs to grow.
- 17:00So let's say that you've got that plant in a bigger pot.
- 17:03Well, then the roots start to take off.
- 17:05And you can tell the plant's growing up top,
- 17:08but what's really happening down below
- 17:10is it is anchoring itself.
- 17:12Down below, it is getting stronger.
- 17:14Down below, those roots are starting to spread.
- 17:17That pot serves a purpose,
- 17:20but eventually, if you don't take it out of that pot
- 17:23into a bigger pot, those roots can't keep growing.
- 17:27The roots need expansion,
- 17:29and a pot is a fixed place that keeps them from expanding.
- 17:34Eventually, that pot that was helpful
- 17:36because it was keeping in the dirt,
- 17:38keeping in the nutrients,
- 17:39that same environment that once helped that plant grow
- 17:43now limits the growth.
- 17:44And you guys, that applies to careers.
- 17:46That applies to relationships.
- 17:49That can apply to your friend groups,
- 17:51to businesses, mindsets, identities.
- 17:54It can apply to the very home you live in.
- 17:58Are you willing to surrender all of that
- 18:01to find a life of peace, of meaning, of fulfillment,
- 18:05a life where you're flowing in your purpose,
- 18:08a life where you're no longer keeping your roots restricted?
- 18:12Because when you become ready to surrender that,
- 18:15that's when the universe joins you
- 18:18and starts doing for you
- 18:19the things that you cannot do for yourself.
- 18:22You know, I mentioned having clients
- 18:25who are in addiction recovery,
- 18:28and I think one of the most beautiful things
- 18:29that are taught in 12 Steps is that God does for us
- 18:32what we cannot do for ourselves.
- 18:35That is so important,
- 18:38and I have so much belief and faith in that
- 18:41because I've seen it time and time and time again.
- 18:45And sometimes that very thing that God does for us
- 18:48that we can't do ourselves
- 18:49is giving us the strength to walk away from the good
- 18:54to flow in the great.
- 18:55When the very thing that once supported you
- 18:58starts restricting you, it's time to move on.
- 19:01My mom, God bless her soul,
- 19:04she was a firecracker.
- 19:05You would have loved my mom.
- 19:07But she had this saying she used to say.
- 19:10I'm from Alabama, she was from Alabama.
- 19:13But she used to say,
- 19:14sometimes God takes the cotton off the thorns.
- 19:17And she was saying when you would go out and pick cotton,
- 19:19side note, I don't know if my mom ever picked cotton,
- 19:22but she knew about picking cotton.
- 19:25But she said when you would go out and pick cotton,
- 19:27there were times that when you got to the middle
- 19:29of the cotton bowl,
- 19:30that all that was left was the thorn.
- 19:33The cotton had all been taken off
- 19:35and it was time to move to the next bush.
- 19:37And when all that's left are thorns,
- 19:41that's the way that God's telling you
- 19:41it's time to move to another bush.
- 19:44You've taken all the cotton off that bush.
- 19:46You've outgrown that bush.
- 19:47It is time to move to your next plant.
- 19:51It is time to take that plant and put it in a bigger pot.
- 19:55Once you've truly outgrown a season,
- 19:58trying to force yourself back into it never works.
- 20:02So why do people stay then?
- 20:05Why do people stay in the good?
- 20:07Why do any of us do anything?
- 20:09It's out of fear.
- 20:10You know, we're always doing fear or faith.
- 20:13Every single decision you make is either fear or faith.
- 20:18Every one of it.
- 20:18So people stay in the good out of a fear of uncertainty.
- 20:24Maybe it's a fear of losing money or a fear of judgment.
- 20:27It could be a fear of failure
- 20:29or a fear of disappointing others.
- 20:31A fear of the unknown.
- 20:32It could be a fear of taking that step
- 20:36without seeing the second step
- 20:38or the third step or the fourth step.
- 20:40So then most people just think
- 20:41they're avoiding risk by staying.
- 20:43My friends, you're not avoiding risk.
- 20:46You're just choosing a different risk.
- 20:49The risk of staying in a season
- 20:52that no longer serves you is stagnation.
- 20:55You know, from a biblical reference,
- 20:57Jesus talks about how within us,
- 21:00out of our belly comes a river of living water.
- 21:03And I think it's important
- 21:04how he talks about living water there.
- 21:08Because when you think about water that is still,
- 21:11like in a pond, when water is still, it becomes unhealthy.
- 21:15Like when water doesn't move,
- 21:16that's when algae starts to grow in it.
- 21:18That's when mold starts to grow in it.
- 21:21That's when it can get murky and starts to smell bad.
- 21:25Stagnant water can become dangerous to our health.
- 21:29But when a water moves, when a water goes down a river,
- 21:32when a water comes off of a mountaintop
- 21:35and falls all of a sudden, every time it hits a rock,
- 21:39every time it moves, it's getting cleaner,
- 21:41it's getting purified, it's getting stronger.
- 21:43This water is getting healthier.
- 21:45The more it moves, the healthier it gets.
- 21:48Don't let yourself stay in stagnation
- 21:51because you're scared of moving.
- 21:53Another risk of staying is regret.
- 21:55You don't want to get to your deathbed
- 21:57and be 80 years old and realize
- 21:59you should have taken the chance.
- 22:02Why didn't I try to follow my dream?
- 22:04Why did I always play it so safe?
- 22:06Another risk of staying is frustration.
- 22:10When you're living a life that's not aligned
- 22:12because you know you're meant for something greater,
- 22:15it is a certain level of frustration.
- 22:17It's a level of frustration
- 22:19that comes from unfulfilled potential,
- 22:21that comes from living below your greatness
- 22:25and not flowing in your calling.
- 22:27And y'all, we all have a calling.
- 22:29You don't have to be a Christian.
- 22:31You don't have to be Jewish.
- 22:32You don't have to be religious at all to have a calling.
- 22:34I believe absolutely that the God that created the universe,
- 22:38the God that is above us and within us and all around
- 22:42made all of us with a calling.
- 22:45And when we're flowing in that purpose,
- 22:48that calling, our dharma,
- 22:50we're happier because our light is shining.
- 22:54My friends, there are people out there
- 22:55who need to see your light.
- 22:58Staying is a decision, but leaving is a decision too.
- 23:02Let me ask you this, what is the cost of staying
- 23:05in a season that no longer serves you?
- 23:07What is the cost of staying limited
- 23:10in a pot that you've outgrown?
- 23:12What is the cost of never finding out
- 23:15what is even possible for you in your life?
- 23:18You don't get to step two until you take step one.
- 23:20If fear is what keeps us stuck,
- 23:23then faith is what moves us forward.
- 23:25God rarely reveals the entire map.
- 23:28The universe rarely reveals the entire journey,
- 23:32but we are usually shown one step, one step, one step.
- 23:37Imagine yourself being in a dark room
- 23:39and you've gotta go from one side of the room to the other,
- 23:42but all you see is a light that's showing you one step
- 23:44and one step and one step.
- 23:46Can you still get to the other side of the room?
- 23:48Absolutely, as long as you trust
- 23:51that you're gonna keep seeing that one step at a time.
- 23:54You may not know how you get to the other side,
- 23:58but just know that the light is gonna guide you
- 24:01one step at a time.
- 24:03So I told you about this flooring company.
- 24:06Well, when I left, I didn't know exactly
- 24:08how things would unfold.
- 24:09I'd started the coaching business,
- 24:11but it wasn't making any money.
- 24:13And I'd started writing the book
- 24:15and it wasn't released yet.
- 24:17I had an idea for the podcast, but it wasn't live yet.
- 24:20I was paying my own mindset coach.
- 24:22I was speaking anywhere that would have me.
- 24:25I was just trying to build this new thing
- 24:28and I didn't know how it would all work.
- 24:31But I gave my employer a one-year notice
- 24:33because I knew how important my contribution
- 24:35had been to them and I knew how much they had been used
- 24:38to bless me.
- 24:39So let me tell you, when you leave the good,
- 24:42don't burn the bridge.
- 24:44When you leave the good, do all you can to bless them back
- 24:48because they have blessed you.
- 24:49They have been supporting you.
- 24:51Just because that's not the pot you're in anymore
- 24:53doesn't mean that it didn't help you when you needed it.
- 24:57So I gave a one-year notice, hired my replacement,
- 24:59got them trained, finally left.
- 25:02And all I knew was, hey, I'm gonna use my voice.
- 25:05I'm gonna post positive things on social media,
- 25:07motivating things.
- 25:08I'm gonna speak for whoever will let me.
- 25:09I'm gonna coach.
- 25:11I'm gonna write.
- 25:11I'm gonna eventually podcast.
- 25:14I knew it, but none of it was guaranteed.
- 25:17I wasn't given the steps to get to where I am today,
- 25:21where I have the book published, where I have a podcast,
- 25:23where I have coaching clients, thankfully,
- 25:25all over the world, where I get to speak and tell people
- 25:28about not just success, but purpose-driven success.
- 25:31Like, I didn't see all of that.
- 25:33I saw it in my mind, but I didn't see the way I got
- 25:37to the other side of the room.
- 25:39All I was given was the next step.
- 25:42And step after step after step, I had to take in faith.
- 25:47The light shone on one step and then another
- 25:49and then another.
- 25:51You don't get to step two until you take step one.
- 25:55Certainty usually comes after obedience, not before it.
- 26:00So when you choose faith for one step,
- 26:04then you'll see what you need for the next
- 26:05and the next and the next,
- 26:07but you have to stop waiting for complete certainty.
- 26:10Ask yourself what next step you already know
- 26:14that you need to take.
- 26:15I'd like to leave you
- 26:16with a few coaching questions this week.
- 26:18Ask yourself these.
- 26:19Take some time to journal.
- 26:21Like, really dive deep and see the answers to these things.
- 26:25Don't just listen while you're in your car
- 26:27or while you're at the gym and think,
- 26:28oh, I should do this.
- 26:29Like, really come back to this and write them down.
- 26:33Question number one, what have you outgrown?
- 26:36What pot is causing you to be restricted?
- 26:38The next question, what are you tolerating
- 26:40because it is comfortable?
- 26:42What success from yesterday are you clinging onto
- 26:45because you're so scared to flow in your purpose?
- 26:50You're so scared to live an aligned life
- 26:53because you don't know what it looks like.
- 26:55Where are you settling for good
- 26:58when greatness may be calling?
- 27:01And what next steps have you been avoiding?
- 27:03I'm not telling you to quit your job tomorrow,
- 27:04so please don't quit your job tomorrow.
- 27:07I didn't quit my job immediately.
- 27:08Oh my goodness, I worked my way into it.
- 27:10As I told you, I gave them a year's notice
- 27:12and I've been talking about it
- 27:13and really praying about it
- 27:15and making a plan months before that.
- 27:18I'm not telling you to blow up your life.
- 27:22I'm asking you to be honest
- 27:23about whether you've outgrown the pot that you're in.
- 27:26Sometimes purpose asks us to leave behind the obvious bad,
- 27:31but sometimes purpose asks to leave behind
- 27:34the comfortable that is good.
- 27:37Don't stay in yesterday's success
- 27:40when your next season is waiting.
- 27:42If this episode resonated with you,
- 27:44share it with someone who may be standing at a crossroads.
