- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Write us a review while you're there too.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: And now, here's Steve and Jeff.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: Hey, thank you, Johnny and Jeff.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: Good to see you again.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: How's it gone, Steve?
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: You know, it's going okay, but I'll tell you, I you know, it's I've been so busy.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: I gotta get away.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: I gotta get a haircut.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm feeling shaggy, but I really digress, Jeff.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Actually, what I meant to say.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: Steve, are you trash talking me?
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: I get the feeling that maybe this is a personal uh no thing because I I don't haven't had a haircut since 1993.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: With the understanding that you probably forgot about the whole haircut thing.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: And and I well, about two or three years, I'll be able to forget about the whole haircut thing too, frankly.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: But you know, I'll make sure I remind you.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Until then, I gotta I gotta keep working on it.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: But I digress, Jeff.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: I meant to say happy belated Father's Day.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: It kind of came and went.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: Uh I think we've had Mother's Day.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: Was that before it or after?
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: But I think Father's Day is like the is like the meat in the Mother's Day sandwich.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: That's not a euphemism.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's because you get a Mother's Day and then you get a Father's Day, and then you actually get another Mother's Day.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Most people don't know that.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: July 9th, Mother's Day.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: You know, there you go.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Go figure.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Who do?
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:27SPEAKER_02: I didn't know.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: I didn't know.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: I just found that out.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: I don't think your dad's around anymore, but I actually skipped.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: He skipped town.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's he's on the lamb, you know.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: But I had the benefit of having I have two dads, you know.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: I have two fathers, yes.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: I have two fathers, which is you know twice the fun for Father's Day.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: And I've got my faux dad and my real dad.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: And as I said before, I I really kind of prefer my faux dad better, but they're both in Joliet in penitentiary.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, they're both in, they're both in Stateville.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: But I gotta say, your faux dad, nice enough guy, but your faux dad never gave me scotch when I was a kid.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Your real dad did.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: I like your real dad, okay.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: My faux dad might have given you a sister, though.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Well, but that's a different subject.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, he did, he did.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: We can we can talk about that another.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: We digress, yeah.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: But anyway, she's almost a year old.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: Do you know that?
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: I have a sister that's almost a year old.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: And I'm really old.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Well, but but anyway, anyway, you were saying fathers, yeah.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: So fathers, yeah.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I went to go meet with them.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: I didn't meet with my faux dad, but I talked to my real dad and the big air quotes, and you know, they're doing fine.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: He told me that they're actually making a lot of progress.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: They're in these group sessions with psychiatrists to try to go through, you know, what what issues there may be, and sure, you know, they're gonna try to reform together, reform the criminals, yes.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because you know, I don't know how many times my dad has had to go back to Joliet, but way too many, you know.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: They can cut that back a little bit, you know, it's very costly to him and to everybody else.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: But he told me about this group that he's in that I thought was pretty fascinating.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Wow, what kind of group is he in like you know, one of the gangs there?
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: It's sort of the o well, I don't know if it's the opposite.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: He's he's in a group of a few people, and most of them are from law enforcement.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Now they're they're criminals, they're serving time, but they're from law enforcement.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: And well, and and you know, your dad has a lot of criminal.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Well, both of your dads really have a lot of criminal law experience, more from the other side, perhaps, but they do have a lot of experience.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: They do.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: I guess the counselor, according to my dad, what the counselor does is he creates a scenario for the group, and then he has each of them act it out to try to determine whether they're making good judgments and where are they able to communicate in a way that's healthy as opposed to antisocial or criminal, as opposed to what they have done in the past that perhaps got them into state value.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Yes, exactly.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Yes, exactly.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: So he told me he was in the session.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: This is uh I guess two weeks ago, to his left was the NSA guy.
- 4:07SPEAKER_02: Totally and uh before they started, yeah.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: But before they started, the the counselor said that they have released this fox out into the woods.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: If you remember, Joliet, I think you've been with me before.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: There's some woods be in the back, I think it's it's fenced in, but there's some you know, woods in the back.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: And they finally released Megan Fox.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Megan Fox has been released.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh, because you know, she hasn't been captured.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen her since she was arrested.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: No, so it's been that's amazing, yeah.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Years so finally let her out.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but then they then they went looking for her, of course.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: So they let her out or the fox, and basically what they said was, how would you capture that fox?
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: And so they start with the NS NSA guy to the left of my dad, and he, you know, is tapping into his experience, and you know, he goes and speaking.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he taps all the phone lines, you know, he monitors any internet searches to try to see where that fox may show up.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: And after a week, he comes back empty-handed, very frustrated that he was not able to find the fox.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: So then to his left was a CIA guy who went to go search for the foxes.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: Well, they got a little agency rivalry there, you know.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: There's gonna be a little competition, and yeah, that CAA guy's gonna want to beat that NSA guy.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, he hires these undercover squirrels, you know, he puts them in the trees, creates this artificial wood government that he infiltrates.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: He's he gets involved with the with the economy to make sure that you know he's got a control of everything.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: So he basically he basically creates regime change among trees.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: He does what he does, tree ream, exactly regime change, perhaps maybe.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: But despite all of that, at the end of the day, he came up empty-handed as well, yeah, and equally frustrated.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: And of course, he took out his frustration by torturing one of his inmates.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, with them because that's that's what you do.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, and and you know, you know, it's interesting because he released all these sleeper squirrels and they were looking for a fox.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: And I knew this fox back in college, and she was a little squirrely, but I digress, but go ahead.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: Then they actually turned to uh policemen.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: He was the Chicago policeman.
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: And and they asked him to do the same thing, you know, see if he could find the fox.
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: Well, it only took him about 20 minutes.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, these Chicago police departments, these these policemen are they don't fuck around.
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: No, no, no.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: You know, he comes back with this badly beaten badger and he holds the badger up, and the badger screams out, all right, all right, already I'm a fox.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: And with that, he wins the contest.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Lieutenant Burge lives on, does he not?
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: I just think it's so great that prison, you know, a place that you don't think of as having a lot of humanity, but prison is really helping people go in the right direction, deal with things the right way, and and kind of release some of that frustration.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Really, it sounds like they're making great progress.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Can't wait for the next visiting day where I can get out there.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: When when dad was telling me this story, it just reminded me of how much he he loved stray dogs and stray cats.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: And oh yeah, and I always enjoyed them, although they were always so short-lived, because as my dad pointed out, cats and dogs that are in this out in the wild only live to be about two months old.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, he would they would come and then he would have try to release them into the wild or into like take them to a farm, and because they could live longer if they were in the farm as opposed to the wild, and and I would never see them again, and and that would kind of make me sad.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: You know, uh it's a nice memory, and that really explains why I why I always saw your dad with different pets.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: I always wonder, gosh, you guys go through pets pretty fast.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: So many, Steve.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: I got I gotta say, that two-month thing.
- 7:59SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Uh cats, dogs, they can live a lot longer.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: They live for years, many, many years.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: I they I've I've heard of cats that are 16, 17, 18 years old, dogs the same way.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: No shit.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and maybe that's why he's in that group.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: It sounds like he's maybe more like that CPD guy, you know.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: Could be, and so your cats have have lived longer.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: And none of our cats are that old right now, but yeah, oh gosh, we we hang with our cats.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: They're all they're kind of middle-aged, you know, which for me is young, but they're kind of middle-aged, right?
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: We hang with them all the time, we take them on trips.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: I bring them sometimes here to the studio.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: Not not tonight, I didn't bring any, but you know, a lot of times I'll just have a cat with me.
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you never bring it up, Steve, but I always notice, you know, there's a litter box in the woman's bathroom.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: I just thought it was Claire's.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Well, it is, but see, my cats can use it too, right?
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, Claire doesn't mind.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: And the cats don't seem to care either.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: So I'm a cat lover.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: What can I say?
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: I've looked for cat lovers, and I've, you know, and in fact, Jeff, I'm I'm so glad you brought up the subject of pets.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: That's really what kind of led to tonight's show because you know, being such a cat lover myself, I was looking for other cat lovers.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Maybe we could have a show about about how great cats are, and we just talk about cats.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: I found a group that's called uh furries of Omaha, and they had pictures of little animals.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: And so I thought oh, well, this sounds nice.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: Okay, so I got somebody from one of the groups from that group here.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Tell us a little bit about how they really appreciate animals and and particularly cats and how they can really be happy, you know, like Felix the cat.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: That that basically meant happy cat in Latin or happy whatever in Latin.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: So how they can be happy with cats and and with animals.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: And let me reduce just the other side of that glass.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: Her name is Kitty Carlisle.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Hey Kitty, welcome to the show.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Hey guys, thanks so much for having me on the show, meow meow.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: Oh see, oh already we're into love of cats.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: This is gonna be a great show, Jeff.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: Peter's gonna drop their complaints against us after this show.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: They're really uh they're gonna be fine, but I digress.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Go ahead, kitty.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: I'm so glad that you have me on the show, and I love hearing about how much you you love cats, meow meow.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, I do, I do indeed.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: And I'm so glad you're you're in the studio.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: And I hear you're your furry little friend there.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: So we do have that litter box in the in the women's bathroom.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: So I'm sure that you'll get a lot of use out of it.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: I I just have to ask this question, you know, they can't see you, but I can see you.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: And you have an amazing outfit on, it's sort of animal-like.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: I'm really impressed with it.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: Did you just come back from some sort of a party, or how's that related maybe to the group?
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Jeff.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: Uh, I'm not exactly sure what you mean about special outfit.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: These are just like my regular clothes.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: I like to dress for the day, and today I kind of just felt a little frisky, yeah, mellow.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: So I have a full-length fawn bodysuit with a beautiful matching set of calico slippers and gloves.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: Yum, yum.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: Wow, sounds like Megan Fox over there.
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: Ooh, quite lovely.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: I don't mean to uh digress here and take take your words, Steve.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: But oh you rhyme me one of those cartoons.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: Do you remember Mr.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: Jenks?
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: He was uh in Huckaberry Hound.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: You look a little bit like Mr.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: Jenks, just just a tad.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: I don't know if that's what you were going for.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: You know, Jeff, I'm I'm an old guy too, but I gotta say, that's not gonna help the audience much.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Say she looks like Mr.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Jenks.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: It's like that's not gonna give them a picture.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: It really isn't, you know.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you might be right.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: But I think you look amazing.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: And the litter box in the bathroom is it's just a lovely touch.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: Thank you for your inclusivity and just made me feel so welcome.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're welcome.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: We we believe in really respecting all that includes our our pets, our our cat friends.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: What sort of things do you do as in this furries of Omaha?
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: What sort of activities does the group in engage in?
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: Do you you have picnics?
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: What do you do?
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: What do you do?
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: We have all sorts of activities.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, today I just came here from church.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: We have services.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Have you ever been to uh St.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Felix Cathedral?
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: You know, I've driven by there.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: It's beautiful.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: You have the whiskers on the bell tower.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, I've seen that.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, it's kind of nice.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Uh, after our interview, I'm I'm headed to do a little furniture shopping at Pet Smart.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: I I love those ladders that just they they go up all the way to the top of the wall.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, activity is important, you gotta stay fit.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: I have a grooming appointment at five.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 12:41SPEAKER_02: You know, it's like you don't know pet owners and Steve, I'm not a a a cat owner like you and Kitty, but pet owners are really busy and really focused on their pets.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: So you must love your pets.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: And uh how many cats do you have?
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Oh well, I I I do love cats, but um currently I I don't really have any cats or pets, but I'm I really would like to to get a few soon.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: Wow, wow.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: So now think about your club, Kitty.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: How do you join your club or what what requirements would somebody need in order to join your club?
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: It's so easy.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Anyone can join.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: You just send kind of a photo of who you aspire to be.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: When you look at yourself, who do you want to be?
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Like if I send a picture of Megan Fox.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Send me one too, Steve.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, I have a bunch, yeah.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Pet person.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: I guess you're a pet.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Yes, the pet you aspire to be, the animal that you are, you can just send that right into me at kittycarlisle at furrieromaha.com.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 13:52unknown: Yeah.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: That's really all it takes to be in the club is just send the photo.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, uh send a photo of the the animal, you know, that has fur.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: And then you need to have fur kind of everywhere, not just, you know, not just in your private parts, but like actively working on grooming and growing your fur.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Boy, you know, Stan D'Amano could qualify for this club.
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: Let me tell you the guy worked at Burger King, and oh, please, you didn't want to late in the day, you did not want to get anything he grilled.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, no, no, no, no.
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: Well, and I I think this is being in the right place at the right time, Steve, because you know I have a lot of fur on my back.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: It's been it's been an issue.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: It was a migrant issue.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Your hair migrated from the head and it migrated to the back just because there's more room.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, the back is bigger, let's face it, right?
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: There is more room, right?
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: A lot of hostility going around in the head, too.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: There's it's calmer on the back.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, although in many societies, growing a lot of hair on your back is a sign of royalty.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: And uh yeah, although I am I do have a haircut scheduled for next week, and it takes a little longer.
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they do the back as well.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah, you know, which works out really well.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: You're gonna stay with the mullet on the back?
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: You know, I had it colored because it was churning gray and uh and it was curling up, so I had it.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: They put this special shampoo on it, but I don't know, Steve.
- 15:15SPEAKER_02: Maybe see if you're available, maybe come with me and kind of give me some tips as they trim it.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, I I do have some experience with the straightening.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Now you don't leave that stuff on too long, it'll burn your hair off.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Don't leave that on too long, but it works, you know, if you do it right.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Sure, sure.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: I'd be glad to go.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Maybe go for like a summer cut, like a crew cut.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: I like that idea very much.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: I have a a Rolodex of wonderful groomers, Jeff, if you Oh yeah.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Do you?
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh that would be great.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Because I know a lot of barbers when you say what they look at your head and they think, oh, easy, quick haircut.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: But then when you say what you want, they say get out.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: Maybe a groomer, maybe that's the way to go.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, I don't know.
- 15:57SPEAKER_02: Sounds like a really fun club, though.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: And it sounds like it's really more about people celebrating furry animals as opposed to sharing furry animals with other people.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: It's like just the joy of it, you know, dressing up like for Halloween, like when people dress up for Halloween and they you know, they have a costume party or something, you know.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's just for fun.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a lifestyle, so not just Halloween, but kind of just expressing who you are every day and really just being comfortable to, you know, you don't just have to be a domesticated dog or cat.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: We oh really we have you know lots of people, foxes, squirrels, an ecumenical club.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: Very nice, very nice, very cool.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: Because I was kind of limited there for a second since I'm not a cat person.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: Same thing with like uh dogs.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: Are there people who do dogs and dogs, sure?
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Those are interesting.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: Let me digress.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Do you have any limits to what kind of pets?
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, the pet would have to have fur, right?
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Well, we did allow some turtle lovers into the club at one time, but yeah, you know, they were they were kind of boring, and the shells get really hot in the summer.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Plus, you tell them to get out of the room and it takes you gotta tell them two days in advance.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, oh, please, come on.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Although I remember I used to have a little turtle when I was growing up, and I get so excited when the head would come out, you know, because it would be like it'd sit there all the time, and and the anticipation, I would sit there and watch it all for hours, and then that little head would come out and kind of look around and then go back in.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: And I I always I really like that.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, let me pose the this question, Jeff.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: Which is more boring?
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Being the turtle that is laying there for days and then eventually sticks his head out, or being the guy who watches the turtle who's laying there for days and then eventually sticks his head out.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: That's I don't know.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Is there an is there a real answer to that?
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't know.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: You know, it's it's six of one, eighteen of the other, you know what I mean?
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: It's just I well I don't mean to be defensive here, but it it's better than having like a fish.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: You just have fish that are in there, and you know, they don't do anything.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: And I would imagine you don't have fish lovers there, do you?
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: Well, uh, I do love catfish.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, they're adorable with their little whiskers.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: Well, that's true.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: How they just kind of shake their tail back and forth.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, that can be very stimulating, what you think?
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: Catfish are really good, deep fried with some, oh, but don't tell PETA.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: Okay, with some hush puppies on the side, you know, a little slaw, maybe.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, just wonderful.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: But but I digress.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Not to get too personal here, kitty, but in addition to the the costume, which I really I think looks looks quite nice.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: Wow, I'm noticing that even under like on the sleeves and stuff, you have a lot of it's like there's a lot of hair pushing up the bodysuit, if you will, on arms, legs.
- 19:06SPEAKER_01: Is that is that true?
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: Thank you, thank you for noticing.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: I I'd love to say that it's all all natural, but again, I I do use quite a few serums.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: You know, a little feline rojain, if you would, just uh kind of help make it a little thicker and gosh, I feel Felicia Rogain.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: I I dated her.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: She dated Eddie Solomon.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: You remember how she was the barbisfa guy?
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, no.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: I I remember Felicia, yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: We should have called her the other show, but I digress.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Oh, go ahead.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I remember very good groomer can come in too, you know.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: What you go in once a month.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: You look a little bit like Sylvester, the cat.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: If you remember, yeah, those he had those big whiskers, he had a lot of fur.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was not a big fan because you know, he had a speech impediment.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: And I think back then we were less sensitive to you know people with disabilities, and you know, it was kind of a big joke, you know.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, I remember and sad but true.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he did.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: He would he would lisp and stuff, yeah.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: It's just and and sad but true, that was really making fun of people with speech patterns.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: But but on the other hand, Jeff, you are so much closer to giving people a picture with Sylvester because so many more people know Sylvester than Mr.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: Tibbs or whatever the other cat was.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: Okay, well, he was my favorite, Steve.
- 20:27SPEAKER_02: You know, you know, fine, and then and then of course there's Peppy Le Pew.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Now he was he was the one that's he was a skunk, he was the one that smelled, which his girlfriend was Penelope Pussycat.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: Was that her name, or was she from uh a James Bond movie?
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: Wasn't it from the James Bond movie?
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: Wasn't that Penelope Pitstop from that race car thing, the go-go, whatever?
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: Could be, but I think she was very attractive.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: But again, there's hygiene issues back then.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: People made fun of people who would smell, you know, you smell like a a skunk, you know, you stink like a skunk.
- 21:02SPEAKER_02: I think that's wrong.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: I think we've grown as a society.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: And and you know, though, Jeff, funny you should bring up Pepe Le Pew because isn't isn't a skunk really just kind of a cat that can produce horrible smells?
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, they're kind of cat-like, aren't they?
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: Timmy, you're the expert here.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: Uh I mean in the cat family, we can produce some terrible smells too.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Meow meow.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: Especially the males.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Jeff, I I just have to say, I feel I feel like you've been in my closet because I have, you know, a little stash of all the cats that I've admired over the years, and you're really pulling them all out.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Jeff, you have been in the closet.
- 21:42SPEAKER_02: And I have a stash in my closet.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: And you have a stash in your closet too.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: I don't go anywhere with a stash.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: We're two out of three.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, here we are.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: Well, thank you so much.
- 21:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, I feel like I've come closer to maybe understanding what it's like to be a furry friend, and yeah, you know, I I I think that means.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Maybe that would be something you know I'd be interested in.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: It it does though bring up a question, and I I don't mean to get serious here, but it sounds like there are some people out there that criticize these groups, you know, save the whales, the haters, the the haters, you know, the haters.
- 22:19SPEAKER_02: There's so many groups that are there to just support creatures that are on this earth, cicadas.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: I know that there's an organization here, you know, they only were uh around for about six weeks, but they you know, they were there and supporting cicadas, which you know have been very abused.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, but but let me tell you, cicadas, a little olive oil saute, they're good eating.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: That's what I hear.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: So I guess my question is some people have have commented about groups.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: I don't know how to put this, Steve.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: Like like there's something dirty about it because you're so into a certain breed that somehow that there's that that's wrong.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: Do you there are all kinds of implications?
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I've heard that too.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: All kinds of all kinds of dispersions and and slanders.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: I'm so glad that you brought that up because there are a lot of people who don't understand and and they think it's wrong or disgusting to love our pets and like love our pets, but that can't be further from the truth, meow meow.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: We are all about love, and I think as a society, we need more people like us, more lovers and less haters.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, yes.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: Who better to learn about love than from God's creatures, especially the furry ones?
- 23:40SPEAKER_03: Ah, yes.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: God has a special place in his heart for those for these little furry creatures and so emotional.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm I'm wiping away.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: My cat at home is wiping away a tear.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: This is beautiful.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: This is so beautiful.
- 23:56SPEAKER_02: I would be remiss, Steve, if I didn't point out that kitty probably wouldn't be a cat lover if her parents didn't name her kitty.
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: Because you've got that predetermined your name is your destiny all the time, Steve.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 24:12SPEAKER_02: You know, Megan Fox, right?
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Megan Fox.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: She's a fox, right?
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: I don't think anybody would question that.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: The one name that proves your point here that is about kind of about hair as well.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: You know, that hair gel, they call it moose, right?
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: And moose exactly right.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: Moose is a hairy animal, and if you write it out, it it's almost spelled like mouse, right?
- 24:35SPEAKER_01: It looks like it should be pronounced mouse, and mouse is a hairy animal too.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: And this gel is about hair grooming.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: Your name is your destiny, and it's a chocolate dessert topic.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: It is that you can have it does wonders for hair, too.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, you take that dessert and just right on, you know.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Have you met Moose Malkovich?
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: He's actually in our group.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: No, I haven't.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Very wonderful, very kind gentleman.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 25:03SPEAKER_02: Did you say Malkovich?
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: Because that is, Steve, we may have a problem, you know.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: I mean, I don't know.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Did mice uh mice, I guess, have fur?
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, we have a couple of mice in our in our group as well.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: They mostly hang out with the gerbils.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Now, do the cats and the mice get along in your group?
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: You know, there's this long-held belief that cats like to torture and ultimately kill mice.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: My cats run in fear when they see a mouse, but some cats, I understand, actually do that.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: I do you guys get along?
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: Oh, of course, of course we get away.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: It's just like toys, you know, kind of just toys.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Everyone needs a little friend to play with and yeah.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: And a nice little a nice little mouse friend.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: What what could be better?
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: What could be better, Jeff?
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: Just so good to get in touch with people who are really connecting us with our nature, with our history, with our origins, with our biology, with our necreology, with our roots, with our hair roots, with our stems, with our cells.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's just so exciting, Jeff.
- 26:10SPEAKER_02: It is, and I and and as a result, I'm gonna go out and get a cat, maybe a kitten.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: And already got a name for it.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: And you know, it's kind of named after my partner, Steve.
- 26:22SPEAKER_02: You know, I was thinking cat Stephen would be the name, and I think it has a nice ring to it.
- 26:28SPEAKER_02: It would be kind of based on you or your sister.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: Well, I I I bet when that cat grows up, that cat's gonna change its name, though.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: So you just you just watch for that.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: Probably get very religious to probably about the same time.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: Maybe drive a cab.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: Might, who knows?
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: Or who knows, right?
- 26:45SPEAKER_02: You never know.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Well, this has been I got in a cab that a cat was driving one time.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's just it was I was way out there when I did, but I I think it was a cat.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: I don't know, it looked like a cat, but it but I digressed.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: That's what you told the police.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: I told us when you get that cat, make sure you send a picture to to me, kitty carlisle at furriesoma.com, and and I'll send you back a list of upcoming events.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: Oh wow, meow meow.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: And I am gonna send you a picture of all my cats.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna join like three, four times because we we have a bunch of cats here.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna join a bunch of times here.
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah, Jeff, we can start going to these events.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: This sounds like wonderful people.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: And I'm gonna send a picture of my back.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Ah, don't you go before they before I I go to the groomer?
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: Sounds like Moose is gonna have some competition here.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: Yes, Moose Mouse.
- 27:35SPEAKER_02: So, yes, yeah, that's for sure.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: Hey Kitty, I I can't thank you enough.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: They are gonna kick us out here of eccentric Lady Land Studios in a minute, but I I can't thank you enough for coming on the show.
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: They are haters, they say they love animals, but they're ruled by the clock and the dollar.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, please.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, no, no animals, no clock, dollar.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: But anyway, kitty, thanks for coming in and and you've just been such a great guest.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: Johnny has some wonderful prizes for you.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Johnny, what do we have for Kitty Carlisle?
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: Right, Steve?
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: Kitty will purr with happiness when she looks at her new in-home cat tree, complete with a loft perch and a ladder that goes even higher than the ceiling.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: She will sleep, stretch, and go back to sleep again in this marvelous fitness home from the usually good people at Big Sur Animal Gym.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: If it comes with fur, it gets fit at Big Sur.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: And a box jammed with 300 assorted snack bags with feline flavors such as sardine, salmon skin, and succotash.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: Without a single lisp in the box load.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Kitty's closet will have a snack stash that will last for centuries, all provided by Sylvester's, the perfect purveyor of cats and good cat products.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: Plus the home version of the Steve and Jeff Show, complete with the clippings from Steve's haircut and Jeff's back.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: This is Ben at Distemper Cold production in association with Back LD Media.
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: Be sure and follow or subscribe to the Steve and Jeff Show wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: This is Jeffy speaking.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: Cats are easier to deal with than those dogs Miss Claire had guarding the studio.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: They don't bite much, and they like to keep it themselves.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: I think Steve's mom and I must be cat friends, such we like to keep to ourselves as well.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: Now if Steve would just stop coming over all the time,
