- 0:02Speaker 1: It's a foul territory presented by a fox one. Let's go. Oh,
- 0:07Speaker 1: we got tod Father joining us in just a minute.
- 0:09Speaker 2: No, I want to show.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Let me ask him for permission, tod Father, before you
- 0:14Speaker 1: come back up here. Can we show the hard work
- 0:17Speaker 1: that you're doing to tape up the desk? He said? Okay,
- 0:19Speaker 1: he said, yes, so we can. We can show too,
- 0:22Speaker 1: shot to see hod Father is under the desk. There
- 0:25Speaker 1: he is, okay, doing doing the loads work, working on
- 0:31Speaker 1: taping things up under the desk to make it really pretty,
- 0:35Speaker 1: so that if you're creepy and you look at us
- 0:39Speaker 1: under the desk, you will only see Todd Father's shoes
- 0:43Speaker 1: and his pants and not some wires.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Great job, Tom, great job. He's like the kid. He's
- 0:50Speaker 3: like the kid under the adults table at Thanksgiving or
- 0:54Speaker 3: the dog under the table at Thanksgiving. But either way
- 0:57Speaker 3: you're you're definitely in in his comfort zone.
- 1:02Speaker 1: For me, I think it was important to show that
- 1:06Speaker 1: Todd Father is a dad who fixes things, just like
- 1:10Speaker 1: many of you out there who might be watching or listening,
- 1:13Speaker 1: or a mom or a kid. Maybe your parents suck
- 1:16Speaker 1: at doing that stuff and you're a kid and you're
- 1:18Speaker 1: stuck with all of that. Todd father is a man
- 1:21Speaker 1: of people. He very capable of taping things to desks,
- 1:25Speaker 1: among many other traits. It's like how Cameo has the
- 1:30Speaker 1: sending a message to someone. Maybe there should be something
- 1:33Speaker 1: where you can actually hire your favorite celebrity to come
- 1:36Speaker 1: over and help fix the house and you guys spend
- 1:38Speaker 1: some time together. It would be much more costly. We
- 1:41Speaker 1: can take some time up. But maybe that's the thing. Hey,
- 1:43Speaker 1: there he is, there is You can't hear him yet,
- 1:47Speaker 1: but he's coming up. We're we can second way, first minute, we.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Can hear him.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Are you productive?
- 1:53Speaker 3: We can hear Todd, he just can't hear us. Now
- 1:55Speaker 3: he's got like we can definitely, Like you can play
- 1:59Speaker 3: pickle ball with your favorite celebrity. Now Todd is going
- 2:02Speaker 3: to do a He's going to come to your house
- 2:04Speaker 3: and he's going to fix things for you. If he's
- 2:08Speaker 3: a big duct tapeman, he will duct tape.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:11Speaker 1: He brought two varieties today, Ana, if you want to
- 2:14Speaker 1: show them off. Two varieties today, black and white tape.
- 2:18Speaker 1: One's a little thicker, one's a little more pliable.
- 2:22Speaker 2: There you go, Okay, we'll see what happens.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Wait, for the Loser Home Depot sponsorship coming up next month.
- 2:29Speaker 1: But we've got a sponsor to hit and we have
- 2:31Speaker 1: a series to hit. We did a postgame show last
- 2:34Speaker 1: night on the Blue Jays losing again to the Mariners.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Miners looking great heading back to Seattle. So we did
- 2:40Speaker 1: nice thirty minutes on that. We're going to talk more
- 2:42Speaker 1: about that series coming up, but we are going to
- 2:44Speaker 1: start with the NLCS. Let's charge the man presented by
- 2:47Speaker 1: lids charge whoa what happened in Game one A lot?
- 2:57Speaker 1: But I think we should start Blake snow You faced
- 3:01Speaker 1: Blake's now right.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Never liked facing him. He's eight innings, ten ks.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Some people didn't want to see him out.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Of the game.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Yeah no, And you know what, I think back to
- 3:13Speaker 4: that time where they took him out when he was
- 3:16Speaker 4: with the Rais, when they took him out, I forget
- 3:17Speaker 4: what ending, fifth, sixth inning, whatever it was, and he
- 3:21Speaker 4: was cruising, man, and you let this guy eat. I
- 3:24Speaker 4: think he had one hundred and thirteen pitches. He was
- 3:26Speaker 4: dominant this whole time. And he's a guy that now
- 3:29Speaker 4: all of a sudden review the Dodgers you can lean on,
- 3:32Speaker 4: and that is huge. There's been a lot of moving
- 3:34Speaker 4: parts with this Dodger team. You know, seems like they
- 3:38Speaker 4: have a new closer now in Suzaki. It seems like
- 3:42Speaker 4: they're clicking on all cylinders. There's a mistake on the field.
- 3:45Speaker 4: They had bases loaded, and we'll get into that, and
- 3:47Speaker 4: they didn't score a run and now all of a
- 3:48Speaker 4: sudden they win a two to one ball game. I mean,
- 3:51Speaker 4: it was absolutely amazing performance by him. He's like a
- 3:54Speaker 4: fine wine. I'm telling you right now, you just want
- 3:56Speaker 4: to sip on for forty years to come.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 4: It just one of those moments where you look at
- 4:01Speaker 4: a veteran pitcher now a veteran guy they call him,
- 4:05Speaker 4: and he goes out there and crushes makes us veteran
- 4:09Speaker 4: ex players feel pretty good.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I mean, he's efficient, He's much more efficient now and
- 4:14Speaker 1: he knows he's got the stuff to pull this off.
- 4:16Speaker 1: By the way, just for the history context, and I
- 4:18Speaker 1: know most of you know about this, but twenty twenty
- 4:21Speaker 1: five and a third scoreless dominant innings in Game six
- 4:24Speaker 1: of the World Series, Kevin Cash to the mound doesn't
- 4:27Speaker 1: want him to see Mookie Betts again. Is now current teammate,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and the rest is history in the Dodgers favor. This
- 4:35Speaker 1: time they have him on their side, crats And still,
- 4:38Speaker 1: despite all of that, Milwaukee could have.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Won this game.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Bryce to red take one for the team. If that
- 4:45Speaker 1: pitch is coming at you, what do you do me?
- 4:49Speaker 3: I'm not hitting forth, I'm not the team's not relying
- 4:53Speaker 3: on me to swing the bat and drive those runs in.
- 4:56Speaker 3: That John's hit me right in the back knee and
- 4:58Speaker 3: I'm limping all the way to first base as soon
- 5:01Speaker 3: as I got two strikes on me. Anything close, I
- 5:04Speaker 3: am one. If it's anything close away from me, I'm swinging.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Is anything close to me that John's hitting me, I'm
- 5:11Speaker 3: taking it. But look, it's got to be a reaction
- 5:14Speaker 3: in the moment, like you can't you can't fault him.
- 5:17Speaker 3: And it only would have tied the game, It wouldn't
- 5:19Speaker 3: have it wouldn't have won them the game.
- 5:22Speaker 4: I still I want to go back to that point
- 5:24Speaker 4: that Jimmy Rollins right right done posted Jimmy Rowins post
- 5:27Speaker 4: game was about Bryce ter Ran getting out of the
- 5:29Speaker 4: way of the ball.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Could have been a potential tying game.
- 5:32Speaker 4: The end quotes, I played with a guy that definitely
- 5:34Speaker 4: would have for sure let that hit him. End quotes
- 5:38Speaker 4: from Jimmy Rollins. I mean, listen, it is I think
- 5:41Speaker 4: you're spot on cratzy. It's an instinctual reaction. It was
- 5:45Speaker 4: a breaking pitch that went down and then you're first
- 5:48Speaker 4: looking out over the plate and you get your foot down.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Next thing you know it's coming at you. Your first
- 5:53Speaker 4: instinct is to get out of the way. There's then
- 5:55Speaker 4: there is there's a couple guys. I mean, Brandon Geyer.
- 5:58Speaker 4: It was one guy that I could think of that
- 6:00Speaker 4: would just not move. But again, this isn't a fastball.
- 6:03Speaker 4: This isn't a fastball, Scott. This is it's a breaking pitch.
- 6:07Speaker 4: So your eyes are going to tell you a different story.
- 6:09Speaker 2: When you see it.
- 6:10Speaker 4: It looks like it maybe it looked like a heater
- 6:12Speaker 4: to him when it came at him, You're like, oh,
- 6:13Speaker 4: let me get out of the way. It's an instinctual reaction.
- 6:16Speaker 4: And you know you can't blame him. Would if you're
- 6:19Speaker 4: a Brewers player or teammate. Honestly, you wanted to hit him,
- 6:22Speaker 4: But at the same token, you know it's a reaction.
- 6:25Speaker 4: You can't blame the guy for getting out of the way.
- 6:28Speaker 4: You wish he didn't, though, do.
- 6:29Speaker 1: You remember Martin Maldonado did this where he would basically
- 6:32Speaker 1: stand on home plate and take a happy Gilmore hit
- 6:37Speaker 1: see the body. He did it in the postseason. He's like, yeah,
- 6:40Speaker 1: I can't hit any more. I'm in the nine spot,
- 6:42Speaker 1: so if this thing hits me, then great. So do
- 6:46Speaker 1: you think Bryce Terrang feels bad or this is just
- 6:49Speaker 1: what a major league player does instinct wise, you're not
- 6:52Speaker 1: thinking you're up at the plate, biggest moment of your career.
- 6:55Speaker 3: If you come.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Through, What do I do if the pitch is about
- 7:00Speaker 1: hit me?
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:00Speaker 4: No, I I if they're thinking about that right now
- 7:04Speaker 4: because they lost the game. Because of that, they got
- 7:06Speaker 4: they got bigger problems, so no chance. I think he
- 7:09Speaker 4: woke up fine this morning, probably upset they didn't get
- 7:12Speaker 4: the job done. He didn't get the job done. But
- 7:14Speaker 4: other than that move on.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I think I think he thought about it right afterwards.
- 7:19Speaker 3: You saw he saw the pitch him get out of
- 7:22Speaker 3: the way of it, which, by the way, he only
- 7:23Speaker 3: has two hip by pitches this year, so he's not
- 7:26Speaker 3: a dude that hangs in there and is like okay,
- 7:29Speaker 3: like some guys just never moved. But he saw him.
- 7:32Speaker 3: He was like and he kind of like as he
- 7:34Speaker 3: stepped out, he's like, oh yeah, okay, and maybe it affected.
- 7:41Speaker 3: He's like, hey, I gotta get this job done. I
- 7:43Speaker 3: am not letting this ball get by me because he
- 7:46Speaker 3: swung at one that was well out of the zone.
- 7:51Speaker 1: This is for everyone listening right now. What are you
- 7:54Speaker 1: wearing right now? And why isn't it me on Deese Kratz.
- 7:58Speaker 1: It is time for everyone to upgrade and get that
- 8:01Speaker 1: super Soft micro Modal glory so good that you don't
- 8:06Speaker 1: want to take it off.
- 8:08Speaker 3: The reason I'm stone facing you is because that's how
- 8:11Speaker 3: soft they are. It's ridiculous, Like I feel, I don't
- 8:14Speaker 3: even understand what kind of material it is. It's got
- 8:17Speaker 3: to be something space age.
- 8:19Speaker 1: For your butt signature super Soft micro Modal fabric, breathable, stretchy,
- 8:27Speaker 1: unbelievably cozy, and now you can even get glow in
- 8:30Speaker 1: the dark part of the Halloween line. Right now as
- 8:33Speaker 1: a listener of FT, you can get cozy and spooky
- 8:35Speaker 1: for less with deals up to fifty percent off at
- 8:38Speaker 1: me undies dot com slash foul enter promo code foul.
- 8:41Speaker 1: That's me undies dot com slash foul promo code foul
- 8:46Speaker 1: for up to fifty percent off me Undie's comfort. That's
- 8:50Speaker 1: made for fall Hey build out, Blake Trining, and the
- 8:55Speaker 1: Dodger bullpen, which showed some cracks. The weakness of the
- 9:00Speaker 1: Dodgers is their bullpen.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Right absolutely why. That's why Dave Roberts was thinking, it's
- 9:08Speaker 3: fifty to fifty. I'm sending Blake Snell out with one
- 9:10Speaker 3: hundred and three pitches. I'll be honest. I don't know
- 9:13Speaker 3: why he didn't. I know Dave Roberts said, hey, you
- 9:16Speaker 3: know Rokie's been good. Uh, you know, we do need
- 9:19Speaker 3: him to come back in five days like he's gonna
- 9:22Speaker 3: be on regular rest. Blake Snell. I've said this for years.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Look at the numbers for Blake Snell. The third time
- 9:30Speaker 3: through means nothing to him. He actually was getting better
- 9:34Speaker 3: in his career. He gets better, and that's because he
- 9:37Speaker 3: has confidence to be able to throw all of his
- 9:38Speaker 3: pitches for strikes. For him to have no walks last
- 9:41Speaker 3: night shows me that I would have continued to go
- 9:44Speaker 3: at him. I know if it was one it was
- 9:47Speaker 3: one nothing game. No, I don't put him back out
- 9:49Speaker 3: there because I think Roki has better stuff to nothing. Sorry,
- 9:53Speaker 3: they haven't put any good at bats together. The only
- 9:55Speaker 3: balls they put in play were like two strikeouts. You're like,
- 9:58Speaker 3: all right, at least I got I didn't strike out
- 10:00Speaker 3: like that was a that was a plus. When guys
- 10:04Speaker 3: would weekly put it in play, it's like, well, at
- 10:05Speaker 3: least it's not punch out. Yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Often it would come early in an ab which is
- 10:11Speaker 1: why he got to the ninth inning with what was
- 10:14Speaker 1: the final pitch con for him, one O three.
- 10:17Speaker 2: No, I was off by ten.
- 10:19Speaker 1: One O three. So that's my thing is if you're
- 10:21Speaker 1: managing the Dodgers, as long as Blake says he feels okay,
- 10:24Speaker 1: which I'm sure he did, let him go keep eating, right,
- 10:27Speaker 1: this is the time where you build up to this
- 10:29Speaker 1: to this point, and he signed with you for years,
- 10:33Speaker 1: like there's nothing to worry about here, go eat.
- 10:36Speaker 4: By the way, I was on a plane flying home
- 10:38Speaker 4: when that was going. I felt like it was one
- 10:40Speaker 4: in the morning from Vegas back home. So sorry about
- 10:43Speaker 4: the one O three is the one thirteenth, and let
- 10:46Speaker 4: me let him eat. Man, let him go out.
- 10:48Speaker 1: A lot of people think one O three is one
- 10:50Speaker 1: thirteen in Vegas.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Let him go out and give him another out if
- 10:54Speaker 4: he doesn't get the first guy out. Then we start
- 10:56Speaker 4: talking a little bit, you know, but it's out of
- 11:00Speaker 4: the order.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Yeah. True.
- 11:03Speaker 3: And and if you do that, you keep Jake Bowers
- 11:06Speaker 3: on the bench. Jake Bowers has hit some big postseason
- 11:09Speaker 3: clutch hits. Homer last year. Now this year he had
- 11:12Speaker 3: a double. Like, you keep that same lineup in. They're
- 11:16Speaker 3: not pinch hitting anybody that wasn't already in the lineup.
- 11:19Speaker 3: They have their lineup out there. And like Todd said,
- 11:21Speaker 3: one guy gets on. Okay, appreciate your night. Now we
- 11:24Speaker 3: still got Rokie Cratty.
- 11:26Speaker 4: Let me ask you this. That double he hit the
- 11:28Speaker 4: center field right in the last ny.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Do you remember m yeah, over over.
- 11:36Speaker 4: What Why weren't they playing no doubles there? Like, why
- 11:39Speaker 4: wasn't he further back?
- 11:41Speaker 3: Zero idea?
- 11:42Speaker 4: All right, That's why I thought I wanted to make
- 11:44Speaker 4: sure I wasn't losing it. I was watching on the
- 11:47Speaker 4: plane and I'm watching it was going kind of buffering
- 11:49Speaker 4: in and out, and I see the ball drop and
- 11:51Speaker 4: I'm like, oh my god. I mean, if you're playing
- 11:53Speaker 4: no doubles, it's a running catch going into the wall
- 11:56Speaker 4: in my opinion, right.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I mean not even going I think he stops before
- 11:59Speaker 3: because I think it landed at the edge of the
- 12:01Speaker 3: warning track. I'd have to go see it again because
- 12:03Speaker 3: it bounced over like that's the matter.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Huge.
- 12:07Speaker 3: It seemed weird to me. It seemed weird to me
- 12:10Speaker 3: because it was like they were playing him shallow pool
- 12:14Speaker 3: and in that case, you already have a run around first.
- 12:17Speaker 3: That run means nothing. Keep everything in front. I don't
- 12:20Speaker 3: care if that go first to home on a single
- 12:23Speaker 3: to center because you're so deep. Let him score like
- 12:27Speaker 3: you keep him at first base.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Mookie Betts to the rescue is another
- 12:33Speaker 1: RBI walk that gives them the insurance run. We're talking
- 12:36Speaker 1: about things that went wrong. Oh, we should have let
- 12:38Speaker 1: Snell pitch another inning, bullpen showed a crack pahes should
- 12:42Speaker 1: have been playing further back, and yet they won the game. Wait,
- 12:45Speaker 1: there's one other issue too, the craziest double play in
- 12:48Speaker 1: postseason history.
- 12:51Speaker 4: I didn't see it live, so I'm like so upset
- 12:55Speaker 4: about I just remember getting some links on my phone,
- 12:58Speaker 4: you know, going in and out of service, and I
- 12:59Speaker 4: couldn't there. But oh my god, I have never seen
- 13:03Speaker 4: somebody not score from dead center field against the wall,
- 13:06Speaker 4: bounce off the wall to catch and the runner at
- 13:09Speaker 4: third didn't score? Are you kidding me?
- 13:11Speaker 1: Oh?
- 13:11Speaker 2: My god? And who was a ta oscar at third base?
- 13:14Speaker 4: Listen at the end of the day, great player, he's
- 13:18Speaker 4: jogged out a couple of balls that we've seen. He's
- 13:21Speaker 4: jogged to a couple of balls in the outfield like
- 13:23Speaker 4: these got it? In these type of games, you gotta
- 13:26Speaker 4: be better. I mean, that could have been huge a
- 13:28Speaker 4: double play.
- 13:29Speaker 2: What was it?
- 13:29Speaker 4: An eight six two one assisted Cratzy as you said
- 13:33Speaker 4: earlier in our meetings today, eight six two one assisted.
- 13:36Speaker 4: I don't think that's probably ever happened in baseball. I
- 13:39Speaker 4: would love to call alias up and see, but to
- 13:43Speaker 4: not score from that, and you're a fast runner like
- 13:45Speaker 4: I could see CRATSI er eye not making it there.
- 13:47Speaker 2: But you gotta know the rules, Scott.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Once it hits the glove and you already go tag
- 13:53Speaker 4: up and go even if he catches it.
- 13:56Speaker 2: By the way, I I feel like he was cooking.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Home average ish. But it doesn't matter. I mean, doesn't
- 14:02Speaker 1: any big leaguer get home he was.
- 14:04Speaker 2: He was cooking home. He looked like he was going
- 14:06Speaker 2: one hundred miles an hour.
- 14:09Speaker 3: He was running for his life. That's for sure.
- 14:13Speaker 2: And you know what the funny thing about the whole
- 14:15Speaker 2: thing was, who was the on duck batter?
- 14:17Speaker 4: Oh my god, after monthsy k, he's kei K. He's
- 14:23Speaker 4: yelling to the dugout it's a home run. It's a
- 14:26Speaker 4: home run.
- 14:26Speaker 2: He saying the review.
- 14:27Speaker 4: He had no clue either, So everybody was it was
- 14:30Speaker 4: just a pile of craziness.
- 14:33Speaker 3: There's so there's so much to unpack with this play.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Also the fact that if they had gone back and
- 14:39Speaker 3: reviewed it, Max Munsey could have been called out for
- 14:43Speaker 3: passing the runner at first, because if you watched the
- 14:47Speaker 3: end of the play, Max has gone around first, and
- 14:50Speaker 3: then as I'm not sure who was coming back to first,
- 14:53Speaker 3: maybe Freddy because Will Smith went back to second. I
- 14:57Speaker 3: doubt it was Freddy, but whoever it was was coming
- 14:59Speaker 3: back to first, and Max was still in fair territory.
- 15:04Speaker 3: So as soon as Freddy hits first as a live runner, yeah,
- 15:10Speaker 3: Batter's out for passing passing the runner in front. So
- 15:14Speaker 3: technically there could have been a third out that would
- 15:17Speaker 3: have negated everything. But there's like nobody will ever get
- 15:21Speaker 3: thrown out from from center field, tagging up like that's
- 15:27Speaker 3: just an auto easy tag up. You joked about it
- 15:31Speaker 3: like I today wouldn't get thrown out if they started
- 15:35Speaker 3: with the ball at the same spot as south Freelick
- 15:39Speaker 3: and he throws it. As soon as he throws it,
- 15:42Speaker 3: I start running safe. There's no way. But because ta
- 15:45Speaker 3: Oscar went two steps off after he saw the juggle
- 15:50Speaker 3: and he thought he needed to go back, his momentum stopped,
- 15:53Speaker 3: went back to the bag, stopped again. And the biggest
- 15:57Speaker 3: thing for me credit to William Contreras. As much as
- 16:00Speaker 3: like some people could be like, oh, William's kind of
- 16:02Speaker 3: out there for himself, he's kind of flashy, emotional. He
- 16:06Speaker 3: knew this play was a force out. If he goes
- 16:09Speaker 3: to tag him at home safe, most guys are like
- 16:13Speaker 3: even KEK, KEYK thought no, no, no, no, you got
- 16:15Speaker 3: checked that, you got checked that it wasn't a catch.
- 16:18Speaker 3: You're right, Keyk. It wasn't a catch. That ball was
- 16:21Speaker 3: That ball's a force out at home And so good
- 16:23Speaker 3: for William Contraras to stretch like it's a force out.
- 16:27Speaker 4: Yeah, And I want to make a big explanation about defense.
- 16:30Speaker 4: First off, this isn't a play you work on in
- 16:33Speaker 4: the offseason. You work on double cuts, you work on
- 16:36Speaker 4: throwing a basis that guys are leading towards. You think
- 16:39Speaker 4: about Freelick, first off, he gets the ball quickly, doesn't hesitate.
- 16:43Speaker 4: If there's a slight hesitation, better safe, throws it in
- 16:47Speaker 4: firm throw. Perfect throw as a shortstop, Ortiz as a shortstop.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Once you see that happen, you're you're moving, You're looking.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Let me see where the runners are because that ball
- 16:55Speaker 4: is already in motion. Once you see the ball in motion,
- 16:59Speaker 4: knowing all right, that ball gonna come to me, give
- 17:00Speaker 4: a quick peek boom, catch throw. It's everything that happened
- 17:05Speaker 4: there and and not and the force out at home.
- 17:07Speaker 4: You got to give the defense credit there. I mean,
- 17:09Speaker 4: that was absolutely phenomenal play. It worked out in their favor.
- 17:13Speaker 4: They still lost the game, but imagine they ended up winning,
- 17:16Speaker 4: losing three to two there and.
- 17:17Speaker 2: They came back.
- 17:18Speaker 4: You know, it's just the game within the game, Cratzy,
- 17:22Speaker 4: and you can follow up on this, but every moment
- 17:26Speaker 4: of that play was meticulous and was perfection be an athlete.
- 17:30Speaker 4: That's what I tell my kids.
- 17:32Speaker 3: And what you said about like a lot of kids,
- 17:35Speaker 3: is the kids listening to this. What Todd was saying
- 17:37Speaker 3: is perfect when you're the cutoff man or girl. It's
- 17:41Speaker 3: so you don't have to just stand there like, throw
- 17:44Speaker 3: me the ball, throw it to me. Here we go. Yes,
- 17:47Speaker 3: you have to get your feet in the right position,
- 17:50Speaker 3: but you can look away from the play to see
- 17:52Speaker 3: where the runner is and then catch the ball to
- 17:55Speaker 3: throw it like. There's so many aspects of it that
- 17:59Speaker 3: or Joey Ortiz did an incredible job and made a
- 18:01Speaker 3: pinpoint throw. He didn't try to bounce it. He made
- 18:04Speaker 3: the throw all the way in the air. It was
- 18:07Speaker 3: it was just an It was an awesome play. And
- 18:10Speaker 3: I'm seeing too many of these things happen to the Dodgers,
- 18:13Speaker 3: which also shows me how freaking talented they are, because
- 18:17Speaker 3: they're coughing some things up. They're not doing some great things.
- 18:20Speaker 3: There's some questionable, you know, questionable manager moves. They have
- 18:23Speaker 3: holes in their team, and yet they're up one to
- 18:26Speaker 3: zero and yet another National League Championship Series.
- 18:30Speaker 4: There's no way Joey Ortiz did not look to see
- 18:34Speaker 4: where the runners are, because if you're a shortstop, you're
- 18:36Speaker 4: coming up when you catch that ball, you're assuming the
- 18:39Speaker 4: run around third scored already. If you're not assuming that,
- 18:42Speaker 4: you are some sort of spectacular ball player. He did
- 18:45Speaker 4: not assume he had to have taken a peek back
- 18:48Speaker 4: just to make sure and see where the runners were.
- 18:51Speaker 4: He caught it on a nose and through it. You
- 18:54Speaker 4: can't say enough about the defensive play. What is going
- 18:57Speaker 4: to make you get to the championship in the World Series?
- 19:00Speaker 4: Plays like that?
- 19:01Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 19:03Speaker 1: How come Tao didn't listen to his third base coach?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Do you know hard to hear for one?
- 19:08Speaker 3: Okay, no, that's not the third base coaches called it all.
- 19:14Speaker 1: No, I mean no, but he's telling them like if
- 19:16Speaker 1: you're confused and you're looking at him. Dino also knew
- 19:19Speaker 1: what he was doing. He's like, go, what are you doing?
- 19:21Speaker 4: Well, yeah, but you if you're I'll try and dumbste like,
- 19:26Speaker 4: you have to know what to do in that situation.
- 19:29Speaker 4: You can't rely on somebody's voice, you know what I mean?
- 19:32Speaker 4: Even if there's it's like him and I had him
- 19:34Speaker 4: coaching a high school game.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah, he's gonna hear dog get back run. Yeah, you're
- 19:39Speaker 2: gonna hear that.
- 19:40Speaker 4: But your mind is telling you one thing and your
- 19:42Speaker 4: mind's listening to another. Like it's you're you're racing. It's
- 19:45Speaker 4: it's hard but you should know what you're doing.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Yeah, just from the fan perspective, I'm like, did he
- 19:50Speaker 1: get instructed differently? Like what happened?
- 19:53Speaker 2: Why?
- 19:53Speaker 1: Why is it so confusing? Like regardless of what the
- 19:56Speaker 1: result of the play is either way, Like if you're
- 19:58Speaker 1: not knowing, just on the damn bag and then.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Run home not understand?
- 20:02Speaker 4: Yeah what just trying to get his wheels were his
- 20:05Speaker 4: legs were moving and his brains were telling him something else,
- 20:07Speaker 4: you know what I mean, we.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Saw it last serious, That's how the Dodgers won. Oryan
- 20:11Speaker 3: Kirkeran knows that ball doesn't go home there, he knows
- 20:15Speaker 3: he needs to throw it the first he had a
- 20:16Speaker 3: brain fart. I hope Tao knows that he doesn't need
- 20:22Speaker 3: to retag up after a bobbled ball. But sometimes your
- 20:26Speaker 3: brain's like, oh wait what And just that little got
- 20:31Speaker 3: the out at the plate.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Right, the moment caught him. So after all of that, right,
- 20:38Speaker 1: the Dodgers still won the game two to one. Oh
- 20:40Speaker 1: and shoe O Tani is not out of his slump now.
- 20:43Speaker 1: He had some Yeah, I mean he had a key
- 20:45Speaker 1: intentional walk right. His presence alone is big, and I
- 20:48Speaker 1: do think that his first a b crats set a tempo,
- 20:53Speaker 1: he worked a nice walk, nice plate appearance there, so
- 20:56Speaker 1: the Phillies had dominant left hand pitch to handle him.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Same thing with Freddie Freeman. I think sixteen out of
- 21:03Speaker 1: the twenty a b's for Freeman in the last round.
- 21:05Speaker 1: We're against left handed pitching, and oh, look at Freddy
- 21:08Speaker 1: coming through with a home run that's still in the
- 21:11Speaker 1: air hang time wise against the right handed pitchers. So, man,
- 21:16Speaker 1: this team looks really good despite what we're talking about.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Right Like, things did not go their way and they
- 21:22Speaker 1: still want a two to one game.
- 21:23Speaker 4: It seems like every team Cratty's played four in the
- 21:25Speaker 4: playoffs and now is not finding the way to win
- 21:28Speaker 4: games anymore.
- 21:29Speaker 2: They don't want any teams in the chest Yankees Brewers.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I'm gonna have I'm gonna have one in the I'm
- 21:36Speaker 3: gonna have one in the Championship. So that's it. We
- 21:38Speaker 3: have one in the World Series. Who Mariners?
- 21:44Speaker 2: Oh you played for the Mariners. I mean, I know,
- 21:49Speaker 2: I didn't know. I didn't know. I don't know.
- 21:51Speaker 1: He's been in their org.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Fred's and Freddy. I know, we got to go Freddy's
- 21:55Speaker 3: home run first RBI. So they've gotten through these two
- 21:59Speaker 3: series with already having one RBI and show hey being
- 22:02Speaker 3: non existent.
- 22:04Speaker 2: That's that's really good for them.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a problem for a good world exactly. Hey,
- 22:10Speaker 1: Andy mcalin talked about this. Adamccalvey, who covers The Brewis,
- 22:13Speaker 1: talks about this all the time too. Pat Murphy declines
- 22:16Speaker 1: to shake player hands during pregame introductions in the playoffs,
- 22:20Speaker 1: so now some of the players smack him in the chest.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I saw others that just ignore him. He is a hoot,
- 22:30Speaker 1: He's hilarious.
- 22:31Speaker 4: I'm like going off and something different. I've always thought
- 22:35Speaker 4: like after like the series, they should all shake hands,
- 22:38Speaker 4: like afterwards, like hockey.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think, yeah, what after the series or after
- 22:45Speaker 3: each game?
- 22:47Speaker 4: No, not after not after each game, but after the series,
- 22:50Speaker 4: after the series. Hey, you know you boys, tell you
- 22:52Speaker 4: what a series? You know what I mean, great job,
- 22:54Speaker 4: good luck, and then move on.
- 22:55Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:57Speaker 4: To me, I feel like that's a little maybe if much,
- 23:00Speaker 4: I don't know, man Like maybe it's backlash, But I
- 23:03Speaker 4: feel like I'd love what they're doing with Pat though.
- 23:05Speaker 4: That's pretty cool. He seems like a happy, gold lucky
- 23:07Speaker 4: deal with everything he does. But yeah, after the series,
- 23:10Speaker 4: give some love, man, it's a hard fought battle.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Man. We'll see you next year.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Good luck, go get him and handshakes. Crafts for the
- 23:16Speaker 1: umpires too.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Just not the pod trase just right right?
- 23:22Speaker 3: Yeah, too soon for the padres. But now, this is
- 23:26Speaker 3: one of the things that I thought when Pat got
- 23:28Speaker 3: the job, was he going to have to change as
- 23:31Speaker 3: a manager. This is the kind of little stuff he's
- 23:34Speaker 3: been doing. The Pocket bagels before the Pocket pancakes, way
- 23:37Speaker 3: before the Apple TV game ever made it popular.
- 23:41Speaker 1: KP. We both love Omaha Steaks. My latest order six
- 23:47Speaker 1: private reserve filet mignons. It sounds bougie because it is.
- 23:51Speaker 1: They were fantastic and also one and a half pounds
- 23:54Speaker 1: of jumbo cooked shrimp with a big initial discount and
- 23:57Speaker 1: then an additional thirty five bucks off with the code foul.
- 24:01Speaker 1: You have been a long time Omaha Steaks guy too.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Back in college, I would always order steaks. I'd
- 24:07Speaker 2: put them in my freezer. And that's the reason I
- 24:10Speaker 2: bulked up is because I always had fresh steaks in
- 24:13Speaker 2: my freezer, ready to.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Go, delicious protein, Get after it. Okay, it is the
- 24:18Speaker 1: best in the biz. If you're ordering steaks online, you

- 24:37Speaker 1: That's fifty percent off at Omaha Steaks dot Com promo
- 24:40Speaker 1: code foul at checkout. Hey, we've got Fabia and Ardaya
- 24:44Speaker 1: joining us right now, covering the Dodgers here during their
- 24:47Speaker 1: quest for back to back World Series titles, and they
- 24:50Speaker 1: take down the Brewers in Game one of the NLCS,
- 24:52Speaker 1: So let's spen at forward to game two. Faby On,
- 24:55Speaker 1: thanks for joining us, and how do you think the
- 24:57Speaker 1: Dodgers line up for this game too? Do you like
- 25:01Speaker 1: the way that Dave Roberts and the front office lined
- 25:04Speaker 1: up the rotation for this series or are you on
- 25:07Speaker 1: the side with some Dodger fans that feel as if
- 25:10Speaker 1: Ya Momoto has had trouble against the Brewers and they
- 25:12Speaker 1: should have gone in a different direction.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 5: I think ultimately he came down to who you wanted
- 25:17Speaker 5: to have start twice this series between Ylmoto and Otani
- 25:21Speaker 5: and what that kind of allows everyone else to do. Otani,
- 25:23Speaker 5: I think they would have been able to do twice
- 25:26Speaker 5: in a series, but that probably would have required him
- 25:27Speaker 5: pitching games two in game seven. Yal motor, you can
- 25:30Speaker 5: get away with games two in game six, so I
- 25:33Speaker 5: think honestly became a math problem at that point. I
- 25:35Speaker 5: think Yo Motor makes a lot of sense, and obviously
- 25:38Speaker 5: it had to blow up Start Milwaukee this year, but
- 25:41Speaker 5: has earned the right to sort of be in the
- 25:43Speaker 5: sort of spot with how he pitched this season overall,
- 25:46Speaker 5: and I don't think you can really go wrong when
- 25:48Speaker 5: he comes to those four guys.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Do you think part of the show Hey thing was
- 25:53Speaker 3: him being a visitor and how that changes his warm
- 25:57Speaker 3: up routine? You know, and obviously the pitcher has to
- 26:00Speaker 3: be in in time before the other before your team's hitting,
- 26:05Speaker 3: but Shohey needs to be in in extra time. Do
- 26:09Speaker 3: you think part of that went into it? Because Doc said, no,
- 26:12Speaker 3: it has nothing to do with his hitting, which a
- 26:15Speaker 3: little I'm a little hesitant to believe that.
- 26:19Speaker 5: I would argue, honestly, that impacts him more when they're
- 26:21Speaker 5: at home than on the road, just because he throws
- 26:23Speaker 5: that first in. He doesn't get a chance to go
- 26:26Speaker 5: into the dugout, catch his breath or anything at all.
- 26:28Speaker 5: He sort of has to immediately get ready to go hit,
- 26:30Speaker 5: at least when he's hitting and the next half inning
- 26:33Speaker 5: needs to go pitch. They do give him a little
- 26:34Speaker 5: bit more time on the pitch clock. He has a
- 26:36Speaker 5: chance to catch his breath a little bit more. And
- 26:39Speaker 5: you sort of see that at home especially, but you
- 26:43Speaker 5: see that's in both cases at home. On the road,
- 26:45Speaker 5: he'll try to end the a bat a little bit
- 26:47Speaker 5: sooner offensively when he's pitching, but especially at home when
- 26:51Speaker 5: he's sort of you tell there's some fatigue coming off
- 26:53Speaker 5: the mound and immediately going in stepping in the batter's box.
- 26:58Speaker 4: I want to talk a little bit about pitching a
- 27:00Speaker 4: little bit. So Zaki came in again. It seems like
- 27:04Speaker 4: it's a face to love. I mean, this guy, all
- 27:06Speaker 4: of a sudden, it's like the new clubs. He struggled
- 27:08Speaker 4: a little bit yesterday, had to get taken out.
- 27:12Speaker 2: What do you what do you think of him? Like?
- 27:14Speaker 4: Is this is this like the their guy moving on forward?
- 27:17Speaker 4: It seems like this is their closer for the whole
- 27:19Speaker 4: rest of the playoffs.
- 27:21Speaker 5: I mean, he's clearly the guy they trust, and they
- 27:23Speaker 5: don't have a lot of those guys right now. But
- 27:25Speaker 5: obviously there's still a lot new with this. They're still
- 27:28Speaker 5: trying to figure out how he's gonna just all this.
- 27:30Speaker 5: And he saw that last night, like he had those
- 27:32Speaker 5: three innings in the NLDS Game four against the Phillies.
- 27:36Speaker 5: Obviously he had three days of rest between, but clearly
- 27:39Speaker 5: there was some sort of carryover. In fact, the velocity
- 27:41Speaker 5: was down, the command was off, and clearly there was
- 27:45Speaker 5: it looked like some signs of fatigue. Will Smith even
- 27:47Speaker 5: said he looked a little tired out there. Uh, this
- 27:49Speaker 5: is all still so new. They're all trying to figure
- 27:51Speaker 5: out how this all works. And they can't go through
- 27:55Speaker 5: this World Series run if they will repeat, if he's
- 27:58Speaker 5: pitching in every single win, like, they have to find
- 28:00Speaker 5: other ways to still get through games. He's still the
- 28:04Speaker 5: guy they trust the most, but they have to have
- 28:06Speaker 5: other guys step up in that bullpen.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Where do you see that happening? Because Vesia has shown
- 28:13Speaker 3: in his little in his small outing, and Blake Trynon
- 28:16Speaker 3: has shown they're not the guys to get it done.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Are we gonna see Robleski getting a save? Is Emmett.
- 28:23Speaker 3: She isn't gonna get a save if if Yamamoto goes
- 28:27Speaker 3: eight tonight.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I think she's the name you sort of look to.
- 28:31Speaker 5: That's the guy that they see as possibly They saw
- 28:34Speaker 5: him as this possible secret weapon in this October run
- 28:37Speaker 5: before Rookie Psaki really kind of took advantage of this
- 28:41Speaker 5: opportunity and really jumped and took it. But she is
- 28:44Speaker 5: still a guy that really high on. Obviously he's given
- 28:46Speaker 5: up a few runs over the course of this series,
- 28:49Speaker 5: but that's a guy that they really like to bet on.
- 28:52Speaker 5: If there's another lefty besides Vessia that they trust, I
- 28:55Speaker 5: would say it's Jack Dryer actually a little bit before
- 28:57Speaker 5: Justin Robleski, just because of how steady he's been all
- 29:00Speaker 5: season long. But yeah, I think that it's gonna be
- 29:03Speaker 5: either those two guys. It's got to be Alex Vesi
- 29:06Speaker 5: at some point. They still do trust him and Blake
- 29:08Speaker 5: trying to You saw it. Obviously, it has not been
- 29:10Speaker 5: a good season for him. It was a terrible September
- 29:12Speaker 5: for him, but Dave Roberts still went him in that
- 29:15Speaker 5: spot last night and he came through. So I think
- 29:18Speaker 5: they're still gonna keep having him opportunities to kind of
- 29:20Speaker 5: show that their faith in him is worth it. But yeah,
- 29:24Speaker 5: it's gonna be interesting to see how they managed the
- 29:26Speaker 5: ninth and he's going.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Forward, Bobby, And do you feel like if we went
- 29:31Speaker 3: back a year, the Dodgers have only won that as
- 29:34Speaker 3: people were saying the COVID World Series, they haven't been
- 29:38Speaker 3: able to get it done. In the length of the series.
- 29:40Speaker 3: There was a lot of like, I don't know, it's
- 29:42Speaker 3: a good team, but are they able to do it
- 29:44Speaker 3: to now where we are they're one to zero in
- 29:47Speaker 3: the NLCS, like this is the best team. They're just unbelievable.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Everything they do, they're so good. Do you think our
- 29:54Speaker 3: view of them right now is jaded or are they
- 29:58Speaker 3: really this good and pretty much unstoppable.
- 30:02Speaker 5: I wouldn't say they're unstoppable because we talked about the bullpen,
- 30:05Speaker 5: like that's obviously something that's gonna come kind of be
- 30:08Speaker 5: an issue throughout here. But I do think that there
- 30:11Speaker 5: is something to what they were able to tap into
- 30:14Speaker 5: last October, the fact that this is a lot of
- 30:16Speaker 5: the same group. They understood what it takes and I
- 30:18Speaker 5: think they kind of knew, especially if you get out
- 30:21Speaker 5: of the short series. Once these series gets stretched out,
- 30:24Speaker 5: it comes down to, like, who's the more talented team.
- 30:26Speaker 5: I think more often than not, it's gonna be the Dodgers,
- 30:30Speaker 5: and I think they kind of understand that they can
- 30:32Speaker 5: sort of break down teams over the course of a
- 30:34Speaker 5: longer series, and there's a confidence that comes with that.
- 30:36Speaker 5: Like they I think they are playing with a lot
- 30:38Speaker 5: of confidence that came from winning the World Series last year.
- 30:41Speaker 5: In the way that they did it. I think there
- 30:43Speaker 5: was something too in twenty one they ran out of
- 30:46Speaker 5: gas twenty two, twenty three, you start to hear like, oh,
- 30:49Speaker 5: they can't really finish it off in a full season.
- 30:52Speaker 2: You start to.
- 30:53Speaker 5: Believe that or buying into that a little bit, and
- 30:55Speaker 5: that gets in your head a little bit. I think
- 30:56Speaker 5: they are past that point now and there's a confidence
- 30:59Speaker 5: that there's start playing with October knowing that they've done
- 31:02Speaker 5: it before and that they know what it takes to
- 31:04Speaker 5: sort of do.
- 31:04Speaker 2: That, knowing what they've done before.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Freddy Peralta has faced this Dodger team four and two
- 31:12Speaker 4: three point twenty nine era in his last and his
- 31:14Speaker 4: career starts against the Dodgers. How do you think he
- 31:17Speaker 4: fares tonight. I think this is a big opportunity for
- 31:20Speaker 4: the Brewers to come through. This is their number one guy.
- 31:22Speaker 4: How do you think the Dodgers step up against the
- 31:24Speaker 4: guy like Freddy Parolta.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I think obviously the numbers the par Alta has
- 31:28Speaker 5: against the Dodgers are pretty good. I will say that
- 31:30Speaker 5: I feel like they see him pretty well. I think
- 31:32Speaker 5: even yesterday they only scored the two runs, they probably
- 31:36Speaker 5: should have scored six if that ball goes over the
- 31:37Speaker 5: fence with Max Muncie earlier in the game. But like
- 31:40Speaker 5: they saw the Brewers pretty well, They saw all their
- 31:42Speaker 5: top arms pretty well. They hit the ball hard, they
- 31:44Speaker 5: had traffick on the bases all but two innings of
- 31:47Speaker 5: the nine.
- 31:48Speaker 1: UH.
- 31:48Speaker 5: I think the back quality has been was good yesterday
- 31:51Speaker 5: and it was as a chance to be good tonight.
- 31:53Speaker 5: But Paroltz is obviously a tough guy. If he has UH,
- 31:57Speaker 5: if he hasn't an outnywhere he's on me very difficult
- 32:01Speaker 5: for the Dodgers. But I do think that this is
- 32:02Speaker 5: a guy that I wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers
- 32:06Speaker 5: how to get out in tonight.
- 32:09Speaker 1: What was your take on the insane double play and
- 32:14Speaker 1: I know, you get to watch ta Oscar Hernandez all
- 32:16Speaker 1: year long. I love him as a person. He's a
- 32:18Speaker 1: great interview, he's super clutch. Dodger fans love him to death,
- 32:22Speaker 1: but he does make these mental gafs somewhat frequently.
- 32:25Speaker 5: Would you agree, Yeah, I think that's something that even
- 32:29Speaker 5: within the Dodgers has been a thing that they've kind
- 32:32Speaker 5: of talked about, and that's why they sat him for
- 32:34Speaker 5: a couple of games in September where they just needed
- 32:37Speaker 5: to kind of lock in. And I don't know if
- 32:38Speaker 5: even Yesterda it was necessarily a lock in situation. I
- 32:41Speaker 5: think he was one of those. It was such a
- 32:43Speaker 5: weird play. It wasn't clear to me in the press
- 32:46Speaker 5: box that like he had caught it or that it
- 32:49Speaker 5: hit off the wall. I can only imagine for ta
- 32:53Speaker 5: Oscar at third base. But I will say, like the
- 32:55Speaker 5: Dodgers ran into this sort of similar play in May
- 32:58Speaker 5: against the Mets, where I think Hayron Taylor was colliding
- 33:01Speaker 5: with Juan Soto. He bobbled the ball, but they knew
- 33:04Speaker 5: that as soon as the ball hits glove, you can
- 33:06Speaker 5: go that situation where Tayoscar Andaz did go tag up
- 33:11Speaker 5: and immediately break when Glove made contact, but clearly he
- 33:15Speaker 5: had some sort of brain fart there in that spot,
- 33:19Speaker 5: goes back to try to tag up again at third base,
- 33:21Speaker 5: and that hesitation really is what cost the Dodgers to run. Obviously,
- 33:25Speaker 5: there still would be a double player in that play
- 33:27Speaker 5: just because the other guys that were treated to the bases,
- 33:29Speaker 5: But the Dodgers definitely should have come out of that spot.
- 33:32Speaker 5: But at least one run.
- 33:35Speaker 1: And all that happens and they still win the game,
- 33:37Speaker 1: many thanks to Blake Snell. And everyone thinks it's unfair
- 33:41Speaker 1: what the Dodgers do, but they're not the only team
- 33:44Speaker 1: that could have signed Blake Snell. First off, any team
- 33:47Speaker 1: can sign a pitcher for what in the mid hundreds,
- 33:51Speaker 1: what's his current deal? And I know there's a lot
- 33:53Speaker 1: of deferrals in there too, but in the middle of
- 33:55Speaker 1: five years, five years, one two with deferrals that I
- 33:59Speaker 1: think makes it more like in the one fifties or
- 34:02Speaker 1: one sixties. First off, any team can do one fifties
- 34:05Speaker 1: one sixties on a long term contract. But there are
- 34:09Speaker 1: other starters that were signed, and it seems like the
- 34:11Speaker 1: Dodgers made the right call on this one, even though
- 34:13Speaker 1: he did miss time during the season. He looks like
- 34:15Speaker 1: one of the best pitchers on the planet frequently. I
- 34:18Speaker 1: mean he's won two cy Young Awards and in big moments.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Now in the postseason, he looks like someone who is
- 34:24Speaker 1: more efficient, not walking guys and just showing off his stuff.
- 34:27Speaker 1: What are you seeing from him? And do you feel
- 34:31Speaker 1: like the Dodgers will take on too much of the Oh,
- 34:35Speaker 1: they can just buy everyone if they end up winning
- 34:38Speaker 1: this series and getting to another World Series. I'll just
- 34:40Speaker 1: use the example like Max Frida a great year for
- 34:42Speaker 1: the Yankees, but get a clunker in that Toronto series.
- 34:45Speaker 1: We haven't seen that from Blake Snell. So Dodgers made
- 34:48Speaker 1: the right call so far in the postseason.
- 34:50Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think it was Snell specifically, Like this
- 34:52Speaker 5: past offseason he did say he knew right away he
- 34:55Speaker 5: kind of wanted to be in LA But that doesn't
- 34:57Speaker 5: excuse the previous offseason when he was around and didn't
- 35:00Speaker 5: signed to the spring training and he didn't sign with
- 35:02Speaker 5: the Dodgers and every team could have signed him and they didn't.
- 35:05Speaker 5: But yeah, I think what we're seeing out of Snell
- 35:07Speaker 5: is like this is the guy that he always thought
- 35:10Speaker 5: he was where he has four incredible pitches that he
- 35:15Speaker 5: knows how to use, that he can locate where he
- 35:16Speaker 5: wants to. And yes, he has had a history of
- 35:19Speaker 5: walking guys. He has had a history of nibbling, and
- 35:22Speaker 5: that's part of why he's so successful, his ability to
- 35:24Speaker 5: kind of avoid the big swing, and he's really good
- 35:28Speaker 5: at that. He's really good at locating pitches an inch
- 35:30Speaker 5: or two off the plate and getting guys to swing
- 35:32Speaker 5: at them. I think what he's learned and talked about
- 35:36Speaker 5: with maturity is all the different ways, all the different
- 35:39Speaker 5: hacks he can find to do that and remain efficient.
- 35:43Speaker 5: And I think you saw that yesterday where yeah, he
- 35:46Speaker 5: was racking up the strikeouts, but he's still I think
- 35:49Speaker 5: he was at seventy seven pitches after seven, like after
- 35:53Speaker 5: seven innings, actually at six innings, ninety one pitches after
- 35:57Speaker 5: seven innings, one hundred and three pitches after eight, Like
- 36:00Speaker 5: his pitch count was low enough for Dave Roberts even
- 36:03Speaker 5: consider him in the ninth inn And this is a
- 36:05Speaker 5: situation where this is the guy who had only pitched
- 36:08Speaker 5: into the eighth inning. This was the sixth time that
- 36:10Speaker 5: he's crazed on that. But obviously he's clearly shown that
- 36:14Speaker 5: development over the course of this season, knowing how to
- 36:18Speaker 5: get quick outs when he needs to, and honestly, a
- 36:20Speaker 5: team like the Brewers where they make so much contact
- 36:22Speaker 5: that kind of played into his favor where he was
- 36:24Speaker 5: a little deeper into a start and understand like, I
- 36:28Speaker 5: get soft contact if I keep throwing change ups here,
- 36:30Speaker 5: and that's basically his recipe to success last night.

- 37:36Speaker 3: Can you evaluate how Doc Roberts has managed these games,
- 37:39Speaker 3: and then I'll and I have a follow up based
- 37:42Speaker 3: on what you say.
- 37:44Speaker 5: I think he's doesn't know what he has back in
- 37:47Speaker 5: the bullpen. I think that is influencing a lot. But
- 37:50Speaker 5: also he's trying to cling to what he can in
- 37:53Speaker 5: that bullpen in hopes that he could find enough pieces
- 37:56Speaker 5: to make this group come together. I think he has
- 37:59Speaker 5: the developed enough trusts that quickly in Rookie Sasaki that
- 38:04Speaker 5: he thought Rookie Staki was the best option than ninth Inning,
- 38:06Speaker 5: which you can quibble with that yes or no. But
- 38:09Speaker 5: and you could argue that yes, you want Blake Snell
- 38:12Speaker 5: to go batter to better at that point, but then
- 38:14Speaker 5: that might take Rookie Saki off the table because they've
- 38:17Speaker 5: been really cautious. They want him to only come into
- 38:19Speaker 5: clean innings, or at least he's only done that so far,
- 38:22Speaker 5: so all of a sudden that you're changing your options
- 38:24Speaker 5: in case Snell doesn't have it, the ninth inning change
- 38:26Speaker 5: a little bit. So I think having a lack of
- 38:29Speaker 5: reliable alternatives has kind of forced him into situations that
- 38:35Speaker 5: I don't know if he makes these same calls last October.
- 38:37Speaker 5: I mean he definitely doesn't if he has last year's bullpen.
- 38:41Speaker 5: So you're seeing a different strategy for how he's managed
- 38:45Speaker 5: a pitching staff definitely compared to where it was last year.
- 38:50Speaker 3: So Charlie Manuel used to always say, you know, anytime
- 38:53Speaker 3: he get his thousands win or five hundred winning, well,
- 38:56Speaker 3: he's a it's because I got good players. Do you
- 39:00Speaker 3: feel like he has enough good players in that bullpen
- 39:05Speaker 3: that he really isn't gonna make a bad choice and
- 39:07Speaker 3: yet he continues to go with the guys that got
- 39:10Speaker 3: him the ring that he had before or do you
- 39:13Speaker 3: feel like he is able to view what is working
- 39:17Speaker 3: and get them out of there soon enough like last
- 39:20Speaker 3: night with Rokie.
- 39:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I do think there's like a balance there. I
- 39:25Speaker 5: think one thing he talked a lot about last October
- 39:27Speaker 5: going into the last October he's like he's learned that
- 39:29Speaker 5: he's gonna go with the guys he trusts, and I
- 39:31Speaker 5: think that became very clear last October who he trusted,
- 39:35Speaker 5: and Blake Trianon was the top of that list. I
- 39:37Speaker 5: think there's something too that where he's going to keep
- 39:40Speaker 5: trusting trying in the hottest of spots just because he
- 39:43Speaker 5: knows that whether he gets hit or not, like it's
- 39:46Speaker 5: not gonna because the moment speeds up on him. But
- 39:49Speaker 5: also I think do you think that his ability to
- 39:52Speaker 5: trust Roki Saki so quickly is kind of a testament
- 39:55Speaker 5: not just like the like where the bullpen is at
- 39:58Speaker 5: right now, but also his ability to kind of adapt
- 40:00Speaker 5: and just sort of see what is working and what
- 40:03Speaker 5: is not and understanding that so that if in cases
- 40:07Speaker 5: or maybe like you're trying to you're trying to scramble
- 40:11Speaker 5: at some certain points, especially with the three batter minimum,
- 40:14Speaker 5: where even if a guy doesn't have it, you're kind
- 40:16Speaker 5: of stuck with him in that spot for at least
- 40:18Speaker 5: a couple of hitters, especially if you're trying to get
- 40:19Speaker 5: someone up, and if it's someone like broke you sock
- 40:22Speaker 5: you needs a little bit more time, then all of
- 40:24Speaker 5: a sudden. You have made that decision a little bit sooner,
- 40:27Speaker 5: so it's definitely a balancing app for him.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Hey, great insight, and we appreciate the time during busy
