- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, thanks so much for joining me for this episode of the Daily Writer Podcast.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Before I get into the content for today's episode, I want to share with you that my brand new book, 18 Words to Live By, released a couple of days ago, and it is available for you to check out on paperback or ebook.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: The full book title is called 18 Words to Live By A Father's Wisdom on What Matters Most.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: And this book is a short, fast read covering 18 values to guide your life.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: And this is a very different kind of book because I didn't do any advanced promo or I didn't build a launch team or anything like that.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: And the reason that it was a gift for my son Ben's 18th birthday, which was on Monday, and I wanted it to be a surprise.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: And 18 Words to Live By is a compass.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: It's sort of a collection of essential values to carry with you on life's journey.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And these are values that can help you become a person of character.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: In the book, I talk about values like empathy, responsibility, integrity, freedom, forgiveness, and much more.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And I've got to tell you, and I've mentioned this uh a couple days ago when I shared about the book here on the podcast, this is my favorite thing that I've ever written.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: I really tried to pour my heart and soul into the book, and I share a lot of personal stories that I hope will be inspiring to anybody who's looking for a short, simple book that's sort of a handbook for life.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: You can get the book via the link in the show notes or by going to Kent Sanders.net slash 18 words.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: That's one eight words.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And again, I currently have the paperback and the ebook with the hardback and audiobook editions coming shortly in the next couple of months.

- 1:59SPEAKER_00: So make sure and grab the book.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: I think you'll really, really enjoy it, particularly if you get it now.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: The Kindle version is free.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: All right, let's get to the main content for today's episode.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: In yesterday's episode, we talked about the power of being a guest on other people's podcasts.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And today we will turn the tables and talk about the importance of starting your very own podcast.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Podcasting is powerful and it's also inexpensive and a great way to build an audience and share your ideas.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: One of the big advantages of podcasting over video is that people can listen to podcasts while they're doing other things like walking, driving, or doing chores.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: People also listen to podcasts for much longer than they view videos.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: It's not unusual for a listener to tune into a podcast for an hour or two every week.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And when you're in somebody's ears for that much time, when you're in their head, they develop an intimate relationship with you as a listener.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And you don't have to do a podcast about writing necessarily.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: You can do a podcast about any topic that you're interested in.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: I think podcasting is a phenomenal way to build a relationship with your listeners and your readers and to establish your credibility and expertise on your topic.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: So if you're writing books about business, you could do a business-related podcast.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: If you're doing books about uh parenting, do a parenting related podcast.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: It's a really, really fantastic way to build your audience and deliver lots and lots of value to people in a way that they're going to consume a lot of.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: So tons and tons of reasons why you should consider doing a podcast.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Obviously, you're listening to this episode right now, so you already believe in the power of podcasting.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: So give that some thought.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: And if you have any questions about podcasting, I'm not necessarily, you know, the world's biggest expert on it, but I have been doing it for almost 10 years and um I've made a lot of mistakes and I've also had some successes as well.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: So feel free to shoot me an email.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Happy to answer any questions you have about podcasting.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: You can email me at Kent at KentSanders.net.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: If you started a podcast, what would you talk about and who would the target audience be?
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Something to think about for sure.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
