In Psalm 9, David exults that God executes righteous judgment, declaring, “The LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment. And he shall judge the world in righteousness” (Ps. 9:7–8). Without God’s judgments upon wayward men and nations, life would become unbearable; evil powers rise and fall, yet the Lord remains forever, a refuge for the oppressed and a destroyer of the wicked.
