[upbeat music] Welcome, welcome, welcome to Full Spectrum Cycling, show number 157.
• 0:23
Jesus. Yeah, like a string band almost. Yeah. Almost. Or one- 200 more... or 157 Riverside Avenue, the old, uh- Oh, yeah... that was, uh, what were those guys called? REO Speedwagon. R-E-O Speedwagon. R.E.M. Speedwagon.
• 0:40
R.E.M... uh, REO Speedwagon. That would be a pretty good mix-up band. R- R.E.M. Speedwagon. [laughs] That's what, uh, Speed Dealer had to drop the REO, 'cause they were REO Speed Dealer. Oh, wow. REO Speedwagon- Ah...
• 0:54
sued the shit out of them Well, you know, REO Speedwagon is a Diamond Rio truck, it's a model of a Diamond Rio truck. Oh, yeah... it was the REO Speedwagon, was a, a, an old school- Oh, that's funny...
• 1:06
you know, 18-wheeler type truck. So who's infringing on who over here there, Kevin Cronin? You're right. My favorite REO Speedwagon song, Flyin' Turkey Trot. Do you know why? I do not.
• 1:21
Kevin Cronin does not sing on said song. Oh, there you go. [laughs] I did, we, I, there was a big, what was the big show here?
• 1:30
Day on the Green, or Grand Slam Jam, or one of those things at the stadium back in the olden times. Oh, yeah. Definitely saw REO Speedwagon there. You know, in a big stadium when they're loud- Mm...
• 1:41
it's, it's pretty cool. They, have, I'm certain it's like Frampton playing State Fair. [laughs] Frampton playing Summerfest is really good, though. He played State Fair not long ago, either. Yeah, it was great.
• 1:52
Frampton is still great. In fact, we were just talking about the talk box today for some reason. Mm-hmm. And J. Kay from Steppenwolf, and they were headlining, and then it was not headlining, and then it was just J.
• 2:06
Kay from Steppenwolf at, like, 2:00 on a Tuesday. It was like- [laughs]... oh, [laughs] you're falling. [laughs] You're falling, oh, competing with TBA for, uh, those prime slots.
• 2:19
Well, the, the, so Summerfest is back to its traditional time this year, and one of the things they've been doing recently, well, except for- They're not doing the weekends? Yeah, they're doing the weekends- Okay...
• 2:28
but it's the traditional timeframe- Oh, gotcha... of the June kind of thing. Gotcha. Gotcha. I like how they're doing the kind of our age bands at, like, 4:00 in the afternoon. Yeah. I saw X at 4:00 in the afternoon.
• 2:38
I'm like- Perfect... "Perfect." [laughs] "'Cause I'm outta here before it gets silly." Mm-hmm. Oh, I remember that year. Yeah. I was on, I was on my way to, I was on my way to the airport when the band was,
• 2:50
and, and the rain was kicking, and da-da-da-da-da. Yeah, and that's when they, they went, they had to stop the set for a while, and I got to hang out with John Doe. Yeah, I remember seeing that picture- Nice...
• 2:59
before I got on my plane. [laughs] I'm like, "You sumbitch," but I had a great time. Yeah. Yeah, a little Billy Zoom action, little- Yeah... little bit of this, little bit of that. Kinda rainy out there today.
• 3:08
Guess where it was raining today? In my pants. Inside the podcast studio, John. [laughs] And in my pants on the way here.
• 3:14
[laughs] It's raining, and it, and I don't know how the rain has such accurate, you know, dripping. Yes. The only place it dripped is right on a chair, dead center in the middle of the chair.
• 3:25
Did you think- A very nice wooden chair, to be clear Yeah. Well, I think it's kinda drying out now, but yeah. So- Did, did you think unsavory thoughts at some point today?
• 3:33
Launching this chair through the window kinda thing, maybe? Before you would notice this.
• 3:38
No, I think it's, it's wake-up call time for the, the roof replacement at some point, but, uh, I think before then we might just put some plastic up there and- And try to dive bomb it... kinda redirectifiate it. Yeah.
• 3:49
Why not? We were talking about, 'cause this thing had, this room has a, right on the other side of that wall, it has a, a roof drain that goes inside the building into the sewer for some reason.
• 3:59
Why did, did they did that in the olden days? I don't know. Yeah. But it does. My buddy was telling me they used to have a shop where they had that same situation, the big, you know, four-inch roof drain cast iron thing.
• 4:11
So they cut it, and they put this big, like, circular thing in there so they could do their duties and take their leaks- [laughs]... right into, [laughs] right into the drain. I'm like, "Oh, that's pretty smart."
• 4:21
Oh, like when- It's going there anyway, so [laughs] Well, yeah.
• 4:24
If we can, if we can- Like, when the curve, when they like un, like when they were demolishing the curve, and then they found out, like, the, the urinal was- It was never atta- [laughs]... it wasn't attached for years...
• 4:33
it was just a hole. That was a great story. People going. [laughs] Yeah, that's- And basically everybody's just been peeing into the, underneath the building. Yeah.
• 4:40
Yeah, there, there's, like, that, that new condo complex is on there, and I'm just- Right... all I'm thinking is, like, there's gotta be some weird-ass poltergeist [laughs] shit brewing in the grounds underneath there.
• 4:49
[laughs] Right. Yeah, for sure. Or eventually it's just gonna turn sideways one day and everybody goes, "Whoops." Shots, p- can't remember who it was. It wasn't- Craziest poo babies... it wasn't Clinton.
• 4:56
It was some other guy that used to hang out there, 'cause a, a buddy bartended there, so I was in there once in a while. And I'm, like, in, it has the urinals with the separation, just with the little wall thing. Yeah.
• 5:06
And I go, "[laughs] He quits pissing on my foot," 'cause the guy's just, like, raining in my stall. [laughs] I'm like, "Dude, why are you pissing on my foot here?" [laughs] So yeah. Yeah.
• 5:16
That wa- that didn't even make it down into the, uh, the- Yeah... the soil. It went on my shoe. Yeah. [laughs] It just went right onto your shoe. Thanks for the rain, but- I actually was never in that bar.
• 5:25
Oh, it's Fitz's Place for a while. It's been, it was a lot of stuff, but anyway. Like, uh, what, something Key? I don't know. Wasn't it? Yeah. Brass Key, Gold Key. Monkee. Monkee. Monkey. Something along those lines.
• 5:37
Yep. So it's, this, this is a week of rain. It's been a lot of rain, a lot of moisture. Tony's got his showers pass gear on. Of course. [laughs] I did realize yesterday during the, uh, spritzing-ness and
• 5:52
just trying to get across Brady Street,
• 5:55
kin- kinda coming in hot, I kinda realized at a certain speed and a certain moisture level- My brakes on my Paddy, or not Paddy Wagon, but Purple People Eater are completely non-functional. [laughs] Oh, yeah.
• 6:09
Yeah, rim brakes. It's just like, "What? No!" [laughs] Yeah, rim brakes take a long time to shed that water. Yeah, and then like some three- Get some Kool Stops on that bad boy...
• 6:16
three pe- Oh, my God, three- Yeah, Kool Stops are good... three people were just like- Kool Stops... "Yeah, dude, you're kinda coming in hot." I'm like, "Not to look cool- [laughs]... [laughs] by any stretch."
• 6:25
Yeah, you need some Kool Stops. All I kept thinking, I'm like, "Oh, no, I'm just all gonna-" They're cheap. They work super well, especially in moist weather. I just didn't wanna get hit by an oncoming car. Moist.
• 6:33
And my other option would've been probably- People... nope, a bike rack. Oh, fun. And that... Oh, yeah, that, that. That, that wouldn't have been- It didn't happen, so it was all in the head. Right. Right on. Right on.
• 6:49
Right. Hey, gue- guess what got finished this week at the old bike shop? The walls? Tony's Ape. [gasps] My Ape. Tony's Ape is, well, mostly 98% done. Yeah. All we gotta do is put the seat post in and grab me some pedals.
• 7:02
Do you have pedals? Greg, I have, like, way too many bikes. I'm gonna take some pedals off something. Ha, there you go. I don't need another set of pedals. Well, those Chesters are for something else.
• 7:16
They're just- Yeah... on there 'cause- I know... orange and purple look really good together. Yeah, and gold. We'll have some pictures in the old show notes of Tony's Ape. It is- Cool... pretty badass. Cleo wants it.
• 7:25
I'm like, "No." No. [laughs] You may not have, said Ape. Which may... It's probably in the last three Apes that Tom Teasdale built it. Right. Yeah.
• 7:35
I don't know if it's exactly the lastest last one, but it's in the last batch of them, for sure. So Tony now has the first Northpaw and the last Ape, or close to it. Mm-hmm. That's quite a collection there.
• 7:47
Some book endings. What's with- Sam, Sam keeps trying to get me to, uh, sell him Fat Burger for Julie. I'm like, "Um, that's not gonna happen, dude." Not gonna happen. Not gonna happen. Like- It's like the Smitty...
• 8:00
wouldn't be prudent. Smitty was his first belt drive bike, too, I think. Could be, possibly, at least the first slick belt drive. Yeah, so. Hey, you've got quite the, uh, uh, museum of- Weird collection of-...
• 8:10
of slick bicycles over there... yeah, yeah. I do. John gave us his Smitty to electrification tool. Electrify. Which I have- What are you, what are you gonna do?... not decided what to do with it yet.
• 8:21
It's st- it's, th- I don't know, yours has... Does yours have a rear disc? I think yours does. I have a rear drum on mine right now. Oh, okay. I don't know if you slider or not. I forgot how he did that one.
• 8:30
Air gun sliders. John's has just straight vertical drops, so... And it had, uh, V brake mounts, not a disc mount, so- Ooh... that means new wheel set, so that opens up a lot of stuff.
• 8:43
But it, it's just, I think gonna be- Drums... just a 250-watt- Rear?... hub drive, which I have already, a front one already made. Yeah. So we just- With a-... we just need a rear wheel with a- Wait, what's the-...
• 8:53
a drum brake... the rear hu- the rear is not- Right now it's a cassette, but it could be. Well, and- But it's not a rim brake... and it's a vertical drop, too. There's no disc brake, it's just, just V brake?
• 9:01
Well, yeah, but it... not for... It'd need a new wheel set for the electric motor. Vroom. I mean- I thought you said your front. You had a front electric already. Forget it. All right. We'll talk about it- Yeah...
• 9:12
after the show. It ju- yeah, it would, it needs a n- 'Cause I have ideas for that. That's a cool bike. It needs a new wheel set. Well, I'm not, I'm not mid-driving it, though. [laughs] No, no, no. I can see that.
• 9:21
That's, that's- That's my e-bike. [laughs] Yeah. Sound effect bud. So speaking of e-bikes that are not e-bikes. What the hell is that thing? Well, you're drinking a Hazy Rabbit, so I was just thinking of the Jackrabbit.
• 9:34
[laughs] Jackass rabbit? [laughs] It- Well, I'm just looking at the tiny little picture... it looks so cool. It's so short. I looked at the- The wheel base is tiny... tiny little picture.
• 9:42
I'll bet you it is- And I'm like, "There's something weird about that. There ain't no fucking pedals on that." [laughs] I'll bet you it's nimble. Nimble. And I'll bet you it's pretty quick. But it's not a bicycle. No.
• 9:53
But there's- Monokana, it's only got foot pegs. Right. It's a moped. My feet would get... My feet- It's a scooter. A moped has pedals. My feet would be, like- Oh, you're right. You're right...
• 9:59
hence the name ped in moped. Yeah, good point, duh. Sorry. Dunderhead. [laughs] You're right, it's a scooter. It's a scooter. But it is kinda cool looking. Yeah. I don't even have the link in the show notes.
• 10:09
How fast is it? It's not that slow 20- Up to 20 miles an hour or something. Oh. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's nice.
• 10:14
What, what is cool, though, and people should check out in the show notes if they like some kind of electric coolness, is that it's a mid-drive BMX-looking thing from Germany, which is really cool looking. Handmade, yep.
• 10:26
Yeah. Good thing... You know, it's a shame Sam, Strongman Sam never listens to the show, because that's right up his alley. [laughs] 24-inch cruiser action. I know, I, I- Rear hu- He- Uh, mid-drive. Yeah.
• 10:38
It's not gonna be cheap once it's off India GoGoGoGoGoGo. Right. It- I'm surprised that they only have a 30K ask for the India GoGoGoGoGoGo They all do that. It's on purpose.
• 10:50
So that you just keep bidding and bidding and bidding, buying them anyway? No, so they far exceed it, and- Oh... so they add all of these add-ons to it So you can say, "We exceeded it by 15,000%" Right. Exactly.
• 11:00
Well, if I had a spare monies lying around- 200... I'd be like, "Yeah, I could do that" Cardano could do that for us. Cardano's on a tear today. It was today a little bit. Yep, yep, yep. That's a good thing.
• 11:11
That means that that money for the Ape is now worth more than the money when you gave it to me- Right... Cardano-wise. Right. Ah. See, these crypto transactions work well at sometimes. Sometimes.
• 11:21
At other times, they, you're like, "What the hell just happened to my monies?" Right. [laughs] Or my cryptos. We're not supposed to think about it as monies. Right.
• 11:28
But, uh, yeah, so check out the link in the show notes there. It's, uh, E-I-N-S. It's Eins. Is that just, like, one? Short for Einstein. Short... Maybe. 'Cause it's German. It's just The One. The One. I- Ein-...
• 11:41
I'm a, I'm... Yeah, and the cool thing about it, too, is that the battery is integrated into the seat. So you don't even notice- Yeah... really- Yeah... that it has a battery. And that mid-drive's pretty funky.
• 11:53
250-watt Bafang. That's what that is? That's the Bafang you can buy that, that mounts to the frame? It's the small one. Yeah, there's a couple different ones- Oh, cool... that have the monocoque mount thing- Oh...
• 12:02
that goes right into the frame If in somebody was gonna design an e-bike- That's probably a great bike... they might think about doing it with that there motor and or mount.
• 12:10
I wonder if- 'Cause they make that motor in more higher, more, [laughs] more higher wattage- More... versions too. The same mount can use- That is a good question. I believe it's the same mount. It...
• 12:20
And the cool thing about the mount from Bafang is it's steel. Bafang. It's not aluminum. Right So you can build yourself a steel frame, which this bike is a steel framed bike, so. And it's chrome,
• 12:34
which is even more cooler. Mm. Better-ish. Way more cooler- Yeah... better-ish. Yeah.
• 12:41
Hey, something we just put up on the interwebs on the Full Spectrum site is the Chewy, Chewy Salon Chair takeover of Full Spectrum Cycling we did up in Seeley. Nice. That was a pretty good episode.
• 12:54
I kinda had to listen to it just to make sure we didn't say anything really stupid in it. [laughs] But it's basically Spinner and Kayla's experiences from doing s- the Fat Bike Birkie- [coughs]...
• 13:07
on the day of the Fat Bike Birkie. Oh, nice. In Seeley Dave's Northwoods Podcast Studio. It was, it was a good episode. You should listen to that. Listen to that episode, and you're gonna have more episodes to listen to.
• 13:18
Nice. 'Cause we also have another one in the can, which is actually a Chewy Salon Chair without me even on it thing. Nice. Nice. Yeah, so we did a couple shows up there. The podcast grow. Can't get enough?
• 13:27
[laughs] Listen to some more. That'll take up, uh, like all three hours of Tuesday morning. Yeah. Right. Right. [laughs] We'll listen to extra shit all the time. After this one.
• 13:36
Unfortunately, I had to go to work, so I couldn't listen to the podcast yet, but I did get a great, uh...
• 13:42
Oh, here's a shout-out to Hoski because he sent me a, a text last night that it was a great show, so with Salmon, hearing about Salmon's stuff, so. Oh, okay.
• 13:51
So if he's listening to this one, I sure hope you come over tomorrow and help me with that door. Also, we got that fancy, uh, Camie Flagge l- lock for you, too. Oh, yeah.
• 14:04
Hey, get, let's get back to electric bikes real quick. Yeah. Let's do it. I've been trying to find the caps that go over the unused connectors on the Bafang
• 14:13
wiring harness, you know, if you're not using the e-brake cutoff or you're not using whatever lights or whatever. Some of the motors come with caps and some don't. Haven't found a way to buy the caps.
• 14:24
Gonna have to get yourself a 3D printer. Guess what I found? 3D printer? 3D print files for said caps. There you go. Right? Andrew, wanna do some 3D printing? Hey, could you just do a whole bunch of these for me?
• 14:35
[laughs] Yeah. It's just a simple thing, but instead of taping it off, it would be nice to have the actual cap. Right. I just don't know why nobody carries it in the United States 'merica. 'Merica.
• 14:46
'Cause it's Bafang Well, you can order them from Alibaba- They, yeah... I assume, or something, but. And wait seven and a half months. Well, it's better than not getting them at all, I guess.
• 14:53
They, they come, and you're like, "What were these for?" Yeah. [laughs] Well, we're not, we're not gonna stop. We're not gonna stop making e-bikes. I got, uh...
• 15:00
So we got through the pre-orders for, for Zys, and now she's sending us another fitting. Oh, nice. To do. Try to get ahead of the curve and get something built up in advance. Sweet. Yeah.
• 15:11
We got a lot of stuff going on with them. Hopefully there's gonna be some big things in the future. Cool. Keep the shop going for a while while [laughs] while we work on this. While we move the shop?
• 15:21
While we move the shop again. We'll go take a look because now the impediment to our move is out of the building. We can go ahead and look at the new space, 'cause it's gonna be pretty aight.
• 15:31
There's a lot of space to explore. This is true. [laughs] I just walk... 'Cause I... Before, I would, like, walk by- It's nice space... and be like, "No." It's nice space. It is. It's pretty cool. It's amazingly...
• 15:42
It looks... I don't know. Never was really in the other- Is the tricycle chandelier still there? Negatory. Oh, wow. Everything's gone. It has been replaced with a lamp. Just a lamp, huh?
• 15:51
Well, it's kind of a cool-ish lamp, sorta kinda. Eh. We had to put something up in there 'cause it dark in there. I bet. Bit dark in there. There's no light. Bit. Yeah. So, but, uh- Aziz Light.
• 16:02
But yeah, I think we're gonna have, uh, we're gonna be right by the Speakeasy and, uh, be very close to Amorphic, which by the way, I'm gonna go ahead and, uh- Oh. [bell ringing] Oh. Oh, wait, wait.
• 16:14
Oh, I just got up, man. We were on a single speed, so getting up to the top of the hill took a while. We're at the top of the hill. I thought maybe- And I... But I didn't, I didn't get off.
• 16:22
Made it all the way to the top of the hill, never got off and walked. Never got off. So today, uh, being that Amorphic is just, like, right across the parking lot here,
• 16:32
this is something we haven't had before with a very cool label with a rabbit on it. And the rabbit has a... What is that thing on its butt? Looks like a motor or something. [laughs] Octopus.
• 16:43
It's, it's very, uh- With a motor strapped to it... it's very steam punky looking label, I would say, called Fluffy Gem.
• 16:49
This is a hazy IPA that features a heavy dry hop with the new Idaho Gem variety, bringing berry flavors to the party, complementing the familiar Citra and Mosaic. These guys are crazy. Yeah.
• 17:02
By cracky, if you're in Milwaukee, I'd suggest stopping at Amorphic. I believe they're open Wednesday through Sunday afternoon maybe or something. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays, I believe. But, uh,
• 17:12
they're j- they're getting rolling, and they got a nice tap room. And let's take a swallow of this here 6.3% beer. Everybody, on three. One. Hmm. Huh.
• 17:30
And smack it. I don't know if I get the full note of that- Mm... new... What's that new hoppy thing called? Idaho Gem. It is tasty. I mean, all their beers are good. Yeah, their beers are good.
• 17:41
And they're, and they're subtly different from each other, which is kinda cool. Wasn't it, like, last week or two weeks ago we had one, the other one? Yeah, we had Cosmic something. Cosmic Fluff.
• 17:49
I think that was a little better. That was a good one. They're both very good, but that one had way more of a, um, uniqueness to it. It had, like, a... You definitely would remember it the next time you have it.
• 17:59
You're like, "Oh, yeah." Well, they do- This one, mm... they do a lot of different versions of IPAs. Yeah. It's something that they make more of than anything else. Yeah God, I love that man. Right?
• 18:09
Everybody that doesn't like IPAs, hey, that's your- Yeah, that's your- That's your prerogative... just don't go there. Yeah, that's exactly- Don't bug me. Yeah. [laughs] Yeah.
• 18:15
And, and, and certainly in certain family functions where it's like, "Okay, I'll bring a 12-pack of something," you know? And it'll be like a variety pack of Surly or- Yeah. Yeah...
• 18:28
you know, something that may- maybe it'll be a, you know, the IPA variety pack. Then there's like three people, "Oh, ugh, oh, I can't stand IPAs." And I'm just like, "[laughs]" Then don't drink them. Okay, good to know.
• 18:39
It- It's not like I'm not gonna bring them again... good to know, 'cause I'll bring a 12-pack and then you won't drink my beer. Yeah, exactly. Right. I'm like, "Oh- Have, have fun...
• 18:44
and nobody else likes the salt and vinegar chips?" Oh, I'll grab- Okay. Oh, three more bags'll- I'll, uh, [laughs] look what I brought. This is games, man, ship, my man.
• 18:53
[laughs] So something came across m- ac- across my radar this morning, which I haven't actually noticed for a couple of years now for some reason, but this has been a long time in coming.
• 19:05
The Trans Wisconsin Adventure bicycle route is now a public thing on the book face as a group. Mm.
• 19:12
And a long time ago, I don't know how long ago, s- many years ago, it was, uh, the Trans Wisconsin Adventure motorcycle route they did, but this one is a bicycle route. Huh.
• 19:23
And it basically starts down there right in the very, very southwest corner near Dubuque- Dubuque... and goes almost straight north all the way up to, uh, Lake Superior.
• 19:33
It's about as far north in Wisconsin as you can get. And it's- Bet that's-... 684 miles. Whoa. And which also uses single track and stuff, and gravel roads, and- Give me a month off, I'll do it.
• 19:46
Yeah, no, for sure, and maybe just kinda pick it apart at the seams if you only get a week at a time or something. Or just take a month off and do it. Or take a month off and do it.
• 19:55
[laughs] You should be able to do that. You've been working there for well over three years now or something. It's two. [laughs] All right. I'm gonna go ahead and need a month off. Yeah.
• 20:02
I'm gonna go ahead and take a month. Oh, man. Yeah, if it w- if it, if it were just for time- So-... I'm banked... so the c- Oh, I'm swimming in that shit [laughs]...
• 20:11
so the cue sheet is like, "Start, turn right,.1 miles. Turn left,.5 miles." It's like, it's a all on rides, ride with- Yeah... GPS. Wow. Ride w-... GPS can be very good, but it can be very that, where it's like, "Uh,
• 20:26
what?" Well, there's, uh- Even on the, on the route planner I remember that where [laughs] I ended up having to like re-scrup it completely because all of a sudden I'm doing like- Ooh... three loop-de-loops, you know?
• 20:36
I'm like, "Mm-mm, no." Ooh, there's, uh, there's some, there's some climbs. It's got 31,755 feet of climbing over the course of the ride. Well, you're going- Wow... north. Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
• 20:46
It's like going, it's like going uphill all the way. Up the whole way. Yeah, exactly. That's the thing about going south- Well, the steepest one I s-... it's like going downhill. Come on...
• 20:51
the steepest hill I see right now is 7.9%, which is pretty freaking steep. That's, that's all an ass when you're [laughs]... If you're on a touring bike [laughs] and you start- Going-... building up some speed...
• 21:00
going up the hill. Oh, that's- [laughs]... slow going. I finished- Oh, I remember El Rongo Jeff talking about some... Well, I, w- I think when he was in Iceland. Yeah. And he got started a little late, I don't know,
• 21:17
and his route was just switchback to switchback to switchback to switchback, and he was only like a third of the way, and there was like a storm coming or something [laughs] like that, and was like, "Um, no, you'd be best served just to..."
• 21:30
Pull over and cover up. Or no, just to return to sender. Oh, turn around. Go back [laughs] to the bottom of the hill. And it's like, "Oh, don't wanna do that, but mm-hmm, okay." [laughs] Yeah, none of the...
• 21:41
I mean, Wiscon- none of these hills are really a lot of elevation change. They're, you know, 163 to 4- or 500 feet of- Yeah... vertical change. But there's a- For 600 miles [laughs]... but there's a lot of them.
• 21:51
Yeah, there's many. And then of course you have the downhill parts which are super awesome. Get those bugs in your eyes, get your teeth all grinning.
• 22:02
Yeah, it's, uh, but the majority of it is off-paved route is, uh, I think the idea of it.
• 22:08
And, you know, I'm looking at going to Dubuque to La Crosse, and you're only a quarter of the way there once you get [laughs] to La Crosse. Wow. You still have a lot more to go.
• 22:14
[laughs] So anyway- Oh, it does hit La Crosse. Okay. It... Well, it goes near La Crosse. Yeah. It actually doesn't go into s- La Crosse. Mostly trails- It goes nearby... though. That sounds pretty freaking great.
• 22:23
It goes through f- it goes like past- So like, just like on like a-... Fort McCoy and stuff. I imagine... like a decent 29 mountain bike? Or what are you, what- Yeah... something like that...
• 22:31
that's what I'm thinking probably. Maybe a, maybe a 29 plus just to... Because there is some sandy stuff definitely up north more. I don't know.
• 22:39
I d- I, I just, like I said, I came across it this morning, and the fact that it's now a public group, you can join that on Facebook. That link is in the show notes. Notes. Notes. Yes.
• 22:49
And I have two potentia- p- two, two, three, I have three potential bikes for that. I could do it on a fat bike and be like, "Hey, just gonna take it easy." Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. You know? You can do it on just about anything.
• 23:00
Not pushing- Except maybe a road bike. I don't know about that. Not pushing the button. What about maybe a- [laughs]... electric fat cargo bike? If you wanna do that, I guess you could. People... Yeah.
• 23:11
So anyway- And finger wagged. Sure. And yeah, so it's called, uh- There would be a handful of finger wagging... it's kinda, uh- Until I carry all their gear too... I think it's called Trans Wisconsin Adventure- No.
• 23:18
[laughs] There would be-... Bicycle Route is exactly what it's called, so. I, I think that's the deal. If I, if I were to do a ride like that, e- especially like, even day camp, if we did a out and back day camp
• 23:32
from the shop, I would gladly ride the mid-drive cargo bike carrying everyone's gear. Of course you would. That'd be a blast. [laughs] It is.
• 23:43
And the only thing stopping that bike from being ultra badass is the 1,000 bucks it's gonna cost to get that battery that goes right in the middle of the triangle, the frame, from our friends up at Grin. Yeah.
• 23:54
That is gonna make that thing. Now, Chuck Willey did build us a nice box. It is a cool box. So we're gonna get that box going too. Tool box. But it's gonna be a tool box. Tool box.
• 24:02
It's gonna be the carrier, your kit box. Yeah. Yeah. Like it. So that's, that's on- Like it... that's on the docket. I w- I finished- Charger. To keep your charger, place to store your charger.
• 24:10
Speaking of bikes I don't ride a- wanna ride on all those hills, I finished up the handsome shop bike that I got from Zeigel. Nice. Got that, got that brake all working and got it all cleaned up, and it's badass.
• 24:22
Got my walled basket on there. Mm-hmm.... $25 walled basket with a Swift [laughs] bag, which is probably worth as much as the whole bike now The rest of the rig, yep... that's completely insane.
• 24:32
  But I was, I was happy because I, I...
• 24:36
It was originally b- uh, designed as a 26-inch by big tire bike, like 22.35 or something, I think, and I just had a s- a 650B set, and I thought, "Well, it's perfect for thick slicks, and we'll, we'll just see how it, how it feel..."
• 24:49
It feels really good. Nice. Very happy with how it feels. You have plenty of clearance on the, on the cranks? Clearance. Clearance. Clearance. Clearance. Clearance. Oh, yeah, it's actually taller. I mean, it's...
• 24:59
That's... Was, I was a little concerned about the geometry changing enough because the wheels are bigger around, but- Oh, nice... they're not bigger around by so much that it's gonna make it silly.
• 25:07
What is silly, to me, is the gearing on it because going up hills is gonna be like... You're gonna be flying on the flats. It's nice. God, those dude- But I'm not Ziegel. Yeah.
• 25:17
My legs, uh, my legs are not Ziegel legs, so. Hitting the hills is gonna s- We'll, we'll see how it works, but it loo- looks bitching. Yeah? Nice. I was a little concerned that I might have, uh...
• 25:26
I don't know if they did an all hail the black market version of that bike, 'cause there were some beat-up stickers on there, and I started kinda taking them off, and I'm like, "Uh-oh."
• 25:34
Don't peel- "I wonder if this is a s- this a special edition bike or..." Don't peel back the onion. It'll just make you cry. Yeah. No, that... We're gonna have to see if we can...
• 25:43
[laughs] If that was the case, we'll see if we can get some more and, and resurrect it. It, it, it had been through several episodes. So were you, Drew. Yeah, no. I think it's, uh, it just... I love... I rode Chewie's.
• 25:54
I love the bike. Now we... That one's done, too. So next on the project list is probably the long tail is what I was getting at. Ah. Finish that up. We got the rear brake situation handled. We got- Fun.
• 26:07
Everything's good on that one, and, and it'll be ready for the carrying of the stuffs. At 25 miles an hour. We could even put the Bob or the, uh, the Burley Coho trailer on the back too. Absolutely. Absolutely.
• 26:19
Yeah, we'll throw that on the back there. Yeah. That's where the beer goes, nice, nice and low on the Coho. I, I am... I want to ride that bike. [laughs] Yeah, we could...
• 26:28
I mean, going up to Harrington Beach is a no-brainer. That'd be great. [laughs] Yeah, and then when I get tired, I'll just put a tow rope on, and you can tow me, too. Exactly. [laughs] Exactly.
• 26:37
With, with all the battery capacity that thing could have- I'd like an eject, like a tow rope, like, button. Shoots them out for you, and you grab it. You ever, like... You never flew a sailplane, did you? No.
• 26:48
Well, when you f- when you're- Hang gliding... be- when you're being towed up by a, a tow plane, you're gonna fly- Oh, I did with hang gliding, yeah...
• 26:54
yeah, you fly behind it, and then when it's time to cut loose, you cut loose, and you peel off h- high and left, and the tow plane dives off to the right. And it goes dead silent. And yeah. I love that feeling.
• 27:04
Isn't that cool? That's great. I did that in a hang glider. What are you doing over there? Non- Cut loose... non-hang- [laughs] Foot loose. Oh, God. Kick off your Sunday shoes. Whoa, yeah. Ooh-wee. Yeah.
• 27:15
Yes, I did do that hang gliding once. You said cut loose. You know how my brain works. Yeah. Um, and it was absolutely- [laughs] That was the first thing I realized. The- I will never, ever get on a hang glider.
• 27:23
[laughs] As soon as they cut the hang glider, the, the tether, it went dead silent. We were... And I was just like, "Whoa." Oh, is that when you get your, uh, feet b- bound up like a geisha- No...
• 27:34
or so- No, no, it's just- You, you know what I'm talking about? Yeah, you stick them in the bag. Yeah, we- Like, "Wee, ooh, ooh." Yeah, I guess maybe. I don't know. Oh, man, that is just unsettling to think about.
• 27:42
It's just absolutely incredible. It's just- You look like a cocoon when you're in the thing... just stunningly fun. Mm-hmm. It's unreal. Oh, uh- Got the vertigo just thinking about that...
• 27:49
also, by this time next week, we should have- [laughs]... those State Wu-Tang 54 centimeter- Nice... single speed fixie. Got two of them on the way. Mm. What the holdup was... Want me to tell you what the holdup was.
• 28:02
They have a special machined, uh, the front of the, of the stem that bolts onto the front of the stem to hold the handlebar. Wu-Tang machined right up in there. Oh.
• 28:15
So s- that took a little bit of extra time 'cause it wasn't the, the same shop, so. Are these straight bar, drop bar? What are these? They're kind of a riser bar f- Okay...
• 28:23
you know, straight flat bar, but riser a little bit. Flip floppy or just straight and fixed? You can flip-flop it if you want, I guess. I don't know. Whoa. What's gonna stop you from doing that?
• 28:30
I'm saying does the wheel flip-flop? Oh, the wheel flip-flops. Yeah. Yeah, that's why it's a single speed slash fixie. Oh, I- Which guess what I'll never do, a fixie. Right. I'm gonna do that. Too old for that shit.
• 28:41
I'll- Yeah... probably break something. Those kids are cool. Cool kids. Till their knees are good. Old men don't need that shit. No. Unless you did it when you were a cool kid, then you could probably still. Maybe.
• 28:51
Kinda like skateboarding now, you know? Yeah, I know. I did it before. I can still kinda do it. Did it. Yeah, I fell a lot before. [laughs] Me too. I, and I'm sure I could achieve- I'm sure it'd feel way more, oh...
• 28:59
the exact same. [laughs] Yep. I got a long board. I ride a little. I can do it boneless. Very little. [laughs] Hey, here's the last thing. That was my one trick, my one trick.
• 29:08
Here's the last thing before we get out of here, 'cause, you know, we did it again. Uh, just noticed again today that, uh, national parks, and this particular one, Yosemite, or Yosemite if you prefer- [laughs]...
• 29:19
is now going to require everybody that enters the park have a pass to get in, because they're doing a ton of construction at Yosemite, and they got too many people. So you're gonna have to sign up- Pony it...
• 29:31
to get a time and pay your two bucks. Oh, boy. But you get a time to show up, and if you're not there, you don't get in, so. Okay. But that's also happening at a lot more national parks.
• 29:41
Timed entry passes is, is a thing. Hmm. Uh, my daughter went to Acadia, whatever's in Maine. Acacia? Acadia. Yeah. Acadia. Yeah. Up there, and they had to do that last summer. Wow.
• 29:52
They had to get a time to go in, which they did, and she said it was- Totally worth it. That park is awesome. I- You've been there before. I mean- But it was summertime... when you were, like, six. [laughs] Right.
• 30:03
But yeah, m- Yeah, 'cause we went to- It was awesome this time. I said we went to Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor, man. We had some lobster rolls. Oh, love some lobster. Right? And Cadillac Mountain is really cool.
• 30:13
Let's certainly figure out that way in and get on that. Anyway- We did...
• 30:17
uh, check out the, uh, Chewie's Salon Chair Takeover episode of the Full Spectrum Cycling thing we put up yesterday, and then we have another one coming up, which we'll probably do midweek next week.
• 30:28
So you got all kind of stuff to listen to. Yeah. And then, uh- You're welcome... and then, and then we'll be back next week, too, so. Yeah. All right, 157 out. Yeah. Heinz 57, bye-bye.
• 30:41
