- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's holiday time of year, it is snowing in Denver, Colorado,
- 0:09Speaker 2: and we are here on the Almost Famous podcast bringing
- 0:12Speaker 2: in yes, some of your favorite contestants ever to celebrate
- 0:17Speaker 2: big things in their life. And today we have Ivan
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hall here. It's been a bit since you've been on
- 0:22Speaker 2: the podcast. Ivan, welcome back.
- 0:24Speaker 3: What's up?
- 0:25Speaker 4: What's up?
- 0:25Speaker 3: I appreciate you guys having me back. I was good
- 0:28Speaker 3: to touch.
- 0:28Speaker 5: Base since we've had you on. So much has happened
- 0:32Speaker 5: that before we started recording, we said congratulations and you
- 0:36Speaker 5: said thank you, but on what.
- 0:39Speaker 4: A lot of things going on.
- 0:41Speaker 5: We met on your engagement but like tell us, like
- 0:44Speaker 5: just where life's at right now?
- 0:46Speaker 6: Oh, life is just you know crazy really since ever
- 0:51Speaker 6: being off the show, I always was before that. I
- 0:53Speaker 6: feel like every year something new and big happens for
- 0:55Speaker 6: me in a good way. So I just got a
- 0:58Speaker 6: lot of business dealing. I run a nonprofit. Now we
- 1:01Speaker 6: got my me and a couple of business partners. Also
- 1:04Speaker 6: are in commercial real estate and that's.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Been very good.
- 1:06Speaker 6: Oh while I still you know, continue all my regular
- 1:10Speaker 6: day to day engineering jobs.
- 1:11Speaker 5: So oh you do both things now.
- 1:14Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, so I got to I like to automate
- 1:17Speaker 6: a lot of things, so it's not as much time
- 1:19Speaker 6: as one would really think. But yeah, no, I got
- 1:22Speaker 6: a lot of different responsibilities now and every year just
- 1:25Speaker 6: keep getting better and better. And then, of course the
- 1:27Speaker 6: biggest news I got engaged, you know, this year, so
- 1:31Speaker 6: that's been super exciting as well.
- 1:33Speaker 2: We're going to talk about the engagement. But obviously you
- 1:35Speaker 2: just mentioned a bunch of things. You're part of, Ivan
- 1:38Speaker 2: it is, you know. I hope for you that continues.
- 1:42Speaker 2: But you can say every year gets better and better.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I don't know if I could say that. You know,
- 1:46Speaker 2: about my life necessarily, I think there's been good years
- 1:49Speaker 2: and bad years. Okay, yeah, there's been good years in
- 1:53Speaker 2: bad years, there's But for you, you're saying like every
- 1:57Speaker 2: year there's been something new and big, and you've kind
- 1:59Speaker 2: of been it feels like building on the good. So
- 2:01Speaker 2: let's start with the organization that you started. Uh what
- 2:07Speaker 2: is it? What?
- 2:08Speaker 4: Where did the passion come from? Where did it start?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:11Speaker 6: Actually I actually didn't start it. It's it's called the
- 2:14Speaker 6: National Society of Black Engineers. I was part of it
- 2:17Speaker 6: in college at Texas Tech. It was a great way
- 2:19Speaker 6: for me to you know, get exposed to companies, learn
- 2:22Speaker 6: some things, mingle with other peers, you know, and then
- 2:27Speaker 6: I kind of just wanted to you know, do something
- 2:29Speaker 6: more in the Dallas Fort Worth community. So for the
- 2:31Speaker 6: last two years, it's an elected position. It's all volunteer based.
- 2:35Speaker 6: I don't take any money for it, but we I
- 2:38Speaker 6: ran for president. I've been the president the last two years.
- 2:41Speaker 6: We've grown like doubled our amount of members that we have.
- 2:44Speaker 6: I think we have a few hundred members in the
- 2:46Speaker 6: Dallas Fort Worth area.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Now.
- 2:48Speaker 6: We won the national Chapter of the Year last year
- 2:51Speaker 6: because we are raising you know, ten times the amount
- 2:54Speaker 6: of money they were raising before. So yeah, we're going
- 2:56Speaker 6: to break a record with amount of scholarship money we
- 2:58Speaker 6: give out this year. We do a lot of volunteer
- 3:00Speaker 6: your work in the community, mentorship of college students, and
- 3:03Speaker 6: then also we'll get like our professional engineering professionals in
- 3:06Speaker 6: the area certifications, all types of things, so anywhere from
- 3:09Speaker 6: like you know, elementary school kids to you know, executives
- 3:13Speaker 6: at companies in the Dallasport Worth areas. So that's been
- 3:17Speaker 6: a good way for me to like balance, give a
- 3:19Speaker 6: little give a little bit back and just add some
- 3:20Speaker 6: more balance to my life.
- 3:21Speaker 2: So what in the mission is to kind of highlight, promote, encourage, educate.
- 3:29Speaker 6: Yeah, it's to increase the number of you know, black
- 3:32Speaker 6: engineers in general. That's why we outreach the kids, and
- 3:34Speaker 6: then also help you know, engineers through their careers, managing them,
- 3:39Speaker 6: getting them, you know, appropriate guidance, just helping them in
- 3:42Speaker 6: certain ways.
- 3:42Speaker 3: And then also of course.
- 3:43Speaker 6: There's always the networking aspect of all these things as well,
- 3:47Speaker 6: which is a big part of it. So pretty like
- 3:49Speaker 6: holistic mission just to like help you know, minority engineers.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Throughout their whole career life cycle. Basically fantastic.
- 3:58Speaker 5: So can you tell us a little bit up out
- 4:00Speaker 5: how you met your fiance Taylor?
- 4:03Speaker 6: Yeah, we were called sweethearts, is the easiest way to
- 4:05Speaker 6: put it, Gosh, So yeah, it's yeah, it's uh, it's
- 4:09Speaker 6: pretty funny because like some people, I think it's like
- 4:12Speaker 6: a newer relationship, but I've known her over ten years now,
- 4:15Speaker 6: so it's like she went to ut Austin, I went
- 4:19Speaker 6: to Texas Tech University. I randomly enough met her while
- 4:22Speaker 6: I was at an engineering convention in Austin and she
- 4:25Speaker 6: was just out and about in Austin, and that's how
- 4:28Speaker 6: we originally met.
- 4:30Speaker 3: She's been the only girlfriend I've ever had in my life.
- 4:34Speaker 6: Went our separate ways when she went to med school
- 4:36Speaker 6: and I went out to Florida work to work for
- 4:38Speaker 6: a couple of companies or a company out there, and
- 4:41Speaker 6: then kind of, you know, reconnected. She's I think, I think, Ashley,
- 4:44Speaker 6: you'll you'll like this. She's an anesthesia resident here in Dallas. Yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 6: so she's Yeah, so once she got the job back here, we.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Kind of, you know, reconnected. She works in the area.
- 4:54Speaker 6: She's in year three or four residency, so we're almost
- 4:57Speaker 6: done with that finally, and yeah, the ANSWER's from the
- 5:01Speaker 6: Frisco area, which is like a northern Dallas suburb like myself.
- 5:03Speaker 3: So a lot of similarities there. And yeah, she's great.
- 5:07Speaker 4: So then when you when she was kind of choosing
- 5:10Speaker 4: where she was going to do her residency, you're already
- 5:13Speaker 4: in Dallas. Did that Did you being there have a
- 5:15Speaker 4: role in her going there? Or was this just a random.
- 5:19Speaker 6: That's a good question, I'll say, I'd say, honestly, because
- 5:22Speaker 6: we weren't really talking too much back then, it was
- 5:25Speaker 6: probably more so just because she's from the area, like
- 5:27Speaker 6: she's from thirty minutes from the downtown Dallas area.
- 5:31Speaker 3: All her family's here, and that's kind of what brought
- 5:33Speaker 3: me back here.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Too, is just my family, like being close to them,
- 5:36Speaker 6: helping them out with stuff. So I'd say that was
- 5:39Speaker 6: probably the biggest role. But uh yeah, definitely reconnected. I
- 5:43Speaker 6: was a little bit after Paradise when she got her
- 5:45Speaker 6: job here, so reconnected. I was definitely trying to stay
- 5:48Speaker 6: single for a bit, but I kind of always in
- 5:51Speaker 6: the back of minds also knew, like when I first
- 5:54Speaker 6: met her, I was like, this, she's great wife material.
- 5:57Speaker 6: But I did think, and I don't know if this
- 5:59Speaker 6: was wrong or right. I told her I thought we
- 6:01Speaker 6: met too soon back in the day because I thought
- 6:04Speaker 6: she needed to do a little bit more life, and
- 6:05Speaker 6: I knew I needed to as well. So that's why
- 6:07Speaker 6: we were always, you know, on and off back in
- 6:09Speaker 6: the day as well. So we found our way back
- 6:11Speaker 6: to each other like we always have, and it's been
- 6:14Speaker 6: great ever since.
- 6:15Speaker 5: That's so amazing. I was going to ask, I was like,
- 6:16Speaker 5: when you were on Bachelor in Paradise in the Bachelorette,
- 6:19Speaker 5: were you ever like this doesn't work out, not a
- 6:21Speaker 5: big deal. Probably probably thinking about going back to Taylor anyway.
- 6:28Speaker 6: Well, to be honest, I mean Taylor, I don't know.
- 6:31Speaker 6: I always have a positive outlook on most of it,
- 6:34Speaker 6: Like I don't like lose all hope as soon as
- 6:36Speaker 6: it doesn't work out on the shows, I was just like,
- 6:37Speaker 6: I'll find the right person eventually.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, So that lineup thinking is always.
- 6:42Speaker 6: Yeah. I always try to flip it in my head
- 6:43Speaker 6: to be a positive real quick, so I don't have
- 6:45Speaker 6: to like deal.
- 6:46Speaker 3: With it as much. I'll say so exactly.
- 6:48Speaker 5: It's always nice to have something like another another something
- 6:51Speaker 5: in the back of your head, like another plan.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Yeah, do you have that right now? Ashley?
- 6:56Speaker 6: No.
- 6:58Speaker 4: When I got married, though.
- 7:02Speaker 7: She's like, yeah, when you're single, though, you always like
- 7:07Speaker 7: have that like roster be like, Okay, I can revisit this,
- 7:09Speaker 7: I can revisit this.
- 7:11Speaker 4: That's so funny.
- 7:11Speaker 2: That's funny you say that because when I was single
- 7:14Speaker 2: after the show, after the Bachelor, there's a big season
- 7:17Speaker 2: of life for me where I was dating and I
- 7:19Speaker 2: had somebody that was dating consistently and she was amazing.
- 7:22Speaker 2: But before I had met her that, I was like,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I'm out, like I think I'm single, Like I don't
- 7:28Speaker 2: have anybody wind up, I have no option.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I am done. I've gave it my all.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I even uh tell us about how you proposed her.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Obviously you said you guys were college sweethearts, you know
- 7:40Speaker 2: each other for ten years, you met when she came
- 7:42Speaker 2: back to Dallas. And then obviously the proposal was recently.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I don't know how recent. Actually, yeah, it wasn't too long.
- 7:50Speaker 6: I mean it was in March, but yeah, and uh yeah,
- 7:53Speaker 6: the proposal was a was a funny one there. You know.
- 7:59Speaker 6: She had sent me a few rings that's like the
- 8:01Speaker 6: style that she liked, so I pretty much knew what
- 8:03Speaker 6: that was. And then one day when the mall, like
- 8:05Speaker 6: we kind of went into a place and I figured
- 8:07Speaker 6: out what her size was basically. But then I just
- 8:10Speaker 6: had to let it sit for a little bit and
- 8:11Speaker 6: so I could surprise her. Actually, so so my proposal.
- 8:17Speaker 6: The thing that I kind of caught headlines a little
- 8:19Speaker 6: bit was the fact that she's been eating a new car,
- 8:21Speaker 6: like she's got a really she had a really crappy
- 8:23Speaker 6: like old Nissan Versa from college. So I was like,
- 8:25Speaker 6: let me just go ahead and combine both these expenses
- 8:28Speaker 6: in one and just say fit And so yeah, I
- 8:31Speaker 6: proposed to her. It was in downtown Dallas on top
- 8:33Speaker 6: of this like a kind of parking garage area, which
- 8:36Speaker 6: worked out perfectly, had a good backdrop and stuff. And
- 8:38Speaker 6: then right after the engagement or the proposal, I had
- 8:43Speaker 6: my dad and my brother drive up her new brand
- 8:46Speaker 6: new Tesla.
- 8:46Speaker 5: So which is love due alergic.
- 8:50Speaker 4: I hope my wife does not listen to this episode.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I really do. I don't want her to hear this.
- 8:55Speaker 4: This is not something she needs to hear.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Through the big red bow on it too. And then
- 9:00Speaker 3: drove the tesla up. It was pretty cool.
- 9:03Speaker 6: And then Susie was part of the was my videographer
- 9:06Speaker 6: for it as well.
- 9:07Speaker 5: Actually, what made you call Susie Evans to do this?
- 9:11Speaker 5: She doesn't live in the in the area.
- 9:13Speaker 6: True, Yeah, so she Actually I've met her a couple
- 9:16Speaker 6: of times because she visited Dallas. I think she's friends
- 9:20Speaker 6: with Sierra Jackson out here, and I don't know, there
- 9:23Speaker 6: was time there, Like I met her twice, and I
- 9:25Speaker 6: know she's into the videography stuff and I like her content,
- 9:28Speaker 6: you know, ther reels and tiktoks she's made, so I
- 9:30Speaker 6: was like, oh, this would be great, and then she
- 9:33Speaker 6: actually suggested my photographer for it too, so I was like,
- 9:35Speaker 6: let's just.
- 9:36Speaker 3: All do together. Then how about that?
- 9:37Speaker 6: And so she did the videography and then her friend
- 9:40Speaker 6: did the photography and it all worked out pretty perfectly.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Really, that's cool. Yeah, that's great.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I actually, uh side note, have just really started to
- 9:49Speaker 2: dive into Susie's content because Ashley told me it was
- 9:54Speaker 2: such a great follow and I cackle like I am dying,
- 9:58Speaker 2: and some of the stuff she puts out there, she
- 10:00Speaker 2: is hilarious.
- 10:01Speaker 4: She's really good.
- 10:02Speaker 6: Yeah, she's definitely shown her creative side for sure, and
- 10:05Speaker 6: I knew she had that entered too.
- 10:06Speaker 3: She does great content, I will say, yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 2: So then obviously you're engaged now she said, yes, have
- 10:14Speaker 2: you guys started wedding planning?
- 10:18Speaker 6: We've done surprisingly little wedding planning, I'll say that.
- 10:23Speaker 3: So yeah, that's the biggest thing.
- 10:26Speaker 6: So as a resident doctor, you don't even want to
- 10:29Speaker 6: really know how many hours she's working per week. But yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 6: and honestly, for Taylor, the engagement is probably more important
- 10:38Speaker 6: to her, or is more important to her.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Than the wedding.
- 10:41Speaker 6: I think she was happier with engagement over the potential wedding,
- 10:45Speaker 6: so we'll get the wedding done eventually. I'm thinking it
- 10:47Speaker 6: might have to be after her residency though, so we'll
- 10:50Speaker 6: see how that goes. But I mean, the only thing
- 10:54Speaker 6: we pretty much figured out is we want to do destination,
- 10:56Speaker 6: and that's where it stops because we don't have anything
- 10:59Speaker 6: else figured out and we have no clue where or
- 11:01Speaker 6: anything else. But we do think we want to do
- 11:02Speaker 6: a destination wedding, and you know, it'll give us some
- 11:05Speaker 6: time anyways to plan it, so no need to stress
- 11:08Speaker 6: out about it.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I understand that. She's just like, oh, I just
- 11:11Speaker 5: want to know this is a forever thing and now
- 11:13Speaker 5: we can just relax. Did you you guys living together?
- 11:18Speaker 3: Yes, yes, we've been living together for a little over
- 11:21Speaker 3: a year.
- 11:21Speaker 4: I think that's going all right.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Yeah, Like, how's the dynamic because she's like literally working
- 11:28Speaker 5: in like at least sixteen hour shifts.
- 11:31Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, she Oh it's well, yeah, she's gone a lot.
- 11:36Speaker 6: I'll say that she's definitely gone a lot. She could
- 11:38Speaker 6: barely take any vacation off or whatever else. And then
- 11:41Speaker 6: I work from home full time, so I'm like not
- 11:44Speaker 6: that I'm locked in here, but like I am kind
- 11:45Speaker 6: of like just trapped in here all day, so I'm
- 11:47Speaker 6: always looking for an excuse like afterwork to like, Okay,
- 11:50Speaker 6: let's go to dinner, let's go whatever, a lounge or
- 11:53Speaker 6: something right, And then when she gets back, she's like,
- 11:55Speaker 6: I've seen so many people today, I just want to
- 11:56Speaker 6: like do nothing right. So we got to like kind
- 11:58Speaker 6: of figure out that that dynamic probably a little better
- 12:02Speaker 6: during the week at least, but during the weekends we
- 12:04Speaker 6: definitely love to indulge in and eat at, you know,
- 12:06Speaker 6: some of the nicer restaurants here, and it's one of
- 12:08Speaker 6: our main ways to connect. So we got we got
- 12:11Speaker 6: to mix it in. Like, she's thankfully off this week
- 12:15Speaker 6: for Thanksgiving, so this is a rarity.
- 12:17Speaker 3: So we'll just be.
- 12:18Speaker 6: Doing a lot of hanging out training the new puppy
- 12:21Speaker 6: pretty much. And that's it.
- 12:23Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah bad. And you want to talk to him
- 12:25Speaker 5: about new puppy life.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it almost, you know, Jessica, I almost ended our
- 12:29Speaker 2: marriage about three months in because we got a new puppy.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Oh lord, it was hard. Now it's beautiful. Whalen's about
- 12:37Speaker 4: two years old.
- 12:38Speaker 2: He's a good dog, But that first couple of weeks
- 12:42Speaker 2: I had no clue just how wild it was, yeah,
- 12:48Speaker 2: you know it is. It's it's a grind. So tell
- 12:50Speaker 2: us what kind of dog? What, what are you experiencing
- 12:53Speaker 2: so far? And has it been fun yet?
- 12:56Speaker 6: Yeah? No, I just got a brand new ten week.
- 12:59Speaker 6: I can't go get him. I can do that, all right,
- 13:03Speaker 6: give you what second?
- 13:04Speaker 4: All right?
- 13:04Speaker 8: Yoll whoa, Oh my goodness, gret that is a that
- 13:22Speaker 8: looks fake?
- 13:24Speaker 5: Is that an English bulldog?
- 13:26Speaker 3: He's an English bulldog. He's about seventeen pounds. He's this
- 13:29Speaker 3: like myrtle color they call it his coat is. But
- 13:32Speaker 3: you're like the most rare color little English bulldog.
- 13:34Speaker 4: So he's cool.
- 13:35Speaker 3: He's got like little blue eyes too. I don't know
- 13:36Speaker 3: if you can kind of tell, but yeah, they're pretty sick.
- 13:39Speaker 3: So he's been good. He's very lazy. You could tell.
- 13:41Speaker 3: He's kind of chill, really chill.
- 13:42Speaker 4: So that's what I told you to get the dog.
- 13:45Speaker 5: I didn't know it was going to be the cutest
- 13:47Speaker 5: dog I've ever seen.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I stied to post him. Actually I'm probably gonna
- 13:51Speaker 3: post them today. Yeah, we'll see. He's a cold.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Dogs are chill. Yeah, you don't have to worry about
- 13:56Speaker 5: him running around. You probably have to worry about him
- 13:58Speaker 5: wanting to good out and walk.
- 14:01Speaker 6: Exactly exactly, and yeah, Taylor wanted like another I don't
- 14:04Speaker 6: even know what type of dog it was, but I
- 14:06Speaker 6: could tell it had way too much energy.
- 14:07Speaker 3: And I was like, no, I can't do one.
- 14:08Speaker 6: Of those, like because I'm the one watching it most
- 14:11Speaker 6: of the day, so I need something that's not gonna
- 14:13Speaker 6: do too much.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Yeah, this is uh so Ivan has brought his For
- 14:17Speaker 2: anybody listening, Ivan's brought his beautiful puppy, uh onto the camera.
- 14:22Speaker 4: There. What's the name?
- 14:24Speaker 3: We call him? Roly?
- 14:25Speaker 4: Roly I mean really.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Is astutely gorgeous English bulldog, just chilling looking at the camera.
- 14:31Speaker 2: He has done nothing. I mean, the difference between Roly
- 14:36Speaker 2: and Whalen is incredible. Whalen would have been like my
- 14:40Speaker 2: dog would have been kicking and barking.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Oh, I mean, Ashley's in heaven right now.
- 14:46Speaker 5: Oh no, shared and I have been contemplating a Golden
- 14:50Speaker 5: Retriever or an English bulldog and.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Oh no, you got to go English.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Oh no, I could actually probably handle that. I don't
- 15:00Speaker 5: if I could train the Golden Retriever.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Yeah that's a year old.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Well, take back everything I said about puppies being difficult.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Because it looks like is going to be about as
- 15:10Speaker 2: much fun and as easy as can be.
- 15:13Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, well we're still doing the training,
- 15:15Speaker 6: but I kind of made it up in my mind.
- 15:17Speaker 6: I was like, all right, these first three weeks are
- 15:18Speaker 6: gonna suck. Yeah, he's actually doing better than I thought
- 15:21Speaker 6: with you know, the whole partty training.
- 15:23Speaker 3: So it's actually been decent so far.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's well, congratulations. You do have a lot going
- 15:28Speaker 2: on your life, and obviously the engagement kind of is
- 15:33Speaker 2: the thing we're talking about, because you know, Bachelor Nation
- 15:36Speaker 2: is known for love and hoping to make connection. I
- 15:41Speaker 2: even just a few more questions for you. Do you
- 15:43Speaker 2: do you think going on the show for you Paradise
- 15:47Speaker 2: and the Bachelorette, do you think it it all opened
- 15:50Speaker 2: your eyes up to wanting to be with Taylor or
- 15:54Speaker 2: do you think it helped you grow as a person.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Just kind of walk us through what you've now learned
- 15:58Speaker 2: looking back at that time in your life.
- 16:02Speaker 6: Now, Yeah, it definitely may help me grow as a person.
- 16:06Speaker 6: It made me I already thought it was pretty introspective,
- 16:09Speaker 6: but you as you guys know, spending hours and hours,
- 16:12Speaker 6: you know, talking about how you feel, and you know
- 16:14Speaker 6: what your plans are for the future. It's like, shoot,
- 16:17Speaker 6: you've become even more introspective than you thought you already
- 16:19Speaker 6: WORRI So I that was that.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Was good for me.
- 16:22Speaker 6: And you know, I've never done, like, I don't know,
- 16:24Speaker 6: therapy or anything else. So like saying that to a
- 16:26Speaker 6: bunch of you know, random producers I don't really know,
- 16:28Speaker 6: and then other guys that I don't really know, definitely
- 16:31Speaker 6: made it a little bit easier for me to open up.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Especially to my closer friends.
- 16:34Speaker 6: I'll say, I don't do that with everybody, but like
- 16:36Speaker 6: my closer friends, I'll be a little bit more open
- 16:38Speaker 6: with them because there's guys like friends I knew from
- 16:40Speaker 6: like college, are like, dang, I never knew this about you.
- 16:43Speaker 6: I'm like, yep, yeah, So I think the show definitely
- 16:46Speaker 6: helped with that.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 6: Overall, man, I love my Bachelor and Bachelor experience or
- 16:52Speaker 6: Bach in Paradise, but I experience overall, like it's been
- 16:55Speaker 6: pretty much nothing but just good times.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Really a bunch of friendships.
- 16:59Speaker 6: I talked to my boy DeMar Noah Thomas every day.
- 17:05Speaker 6: We're in fantasy football. We do a bunch of stuff.
- 17:07Speaker 6: So it's yeah, nothing but good vibes from it. You know,
- 17:09Speaker 6: a lot of great opportunities, experiences and stuff. So I
- 17:13Speaker 6: think and then, yeah, I don't know how much I
- 17:16Speaker 6: would have grown without the show, really, just because it's
- 17:17Speaker 6: exposed me to so so many more things that probably
- 17:21Speaker 6: would have been exposed to if I hadn't gone on it.
- 17:23Speaker 3: So and I try to treat everything as a.
- 17:25Speaker 6: Learning experience too, So I definitely think it's made me
- 17:28Speaker 6: a better person and expedited my growth actually in a
- 17:32Speaker 6: couple of different ways.
- 17:34Speaker 5: I feel that did Taylor watch you on the show?
- 17:38Speaker 6: She watched Bachelorette, She definitely watched that. I don't think
- 17:41Speaker 6: she watched that much as Bachelor. Yeah, she didn't watch
- 17:43Speaker 6: that much at Bachelor in Paradise though I know she
- 17:45Speaker 6: saw like highlights of it and whatnot. But yeah, it
- 17:47Speaker 6: is like she loves watching reality TV, Love Island all
- 17:51Speaker 6: that other stuff too. But yeah, Bachler, Bachelorette, she doesn't
- 17:55Speaker 6: really care to anymore. She's got like the ick fort
- 17:57Speaker 6: just because I was on it kind of so.
- 18:00Speaker 4: She doesn't really makes sense.
- 18:01Speaker 6: Yeah, like, well, like we've seen a couple episodes of
- 18:04Speaker 6: this paradise, but yeah, some things still throw her off,
- 18:07Speaker 6: which is kind of funny.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe the Golden Bachelor.
- 18:11Speaker 3: We watched the first episode. I've don't keep.
- 18:13Speaker 6: I watched Paradise a little bit more a couple of times,
- 18:16Speaker 6: just because I still know a couple of guys out there.
- 18:19Speaker 3: So it's, you know, kind of cool to check in
- 18:20Speaker 3: to see what they got going on.
- 18:21Speaker 2: But yeah, it is interesting to me how many really
- 18:25Speaker 2: smart people watch, like crave watching like Paradise and The
- 18:29Speaker 2: Bachelor and Bachelorette, because I think my my assumption is
- 18:33Speaker 2: all day they're being smart, and all day they're like
- 18:37Speaker 2: dealing with really serious stuff, and then when they get
- 18:39Speaker 2: home they're just like still human and they're just like
- 18:42Speaker 2: I just want to watch something that I don't have
- 18:44Speaker 2: to think anything about, Like this is I get to watch?
- 18:47Speaker 6: Yeah, you're exactly right, Like she literally will come home.
- 18:49Speaker 6: She's like, I want to turn my brain off. Yeah,
- 18:52Speaker 6: it's whatever, Binge, Love Island, whatever, Real Housewives, those Potomac
- 18:57Speaker 6: and wherever else they are.
- 18:59Speaker 3: U tall, trust me, I I hear and see some
- 19:02Speaker 3: of it now, and I.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Was a lord, but I'm good.
- 19:06Speaker 6: Yeah, she definitely likes doing that because when it's when
- 19:08Speaker 6: she's around her and her co workers.
- 19:10Speaker 3: I can't even.
- 19:11Speaker 6: Understand what language they're seaking honestly, sometimes like it's insane.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, well it's uh, it's an incredible chapter
- 19:18Speaker 2: of life for you, Ivan, and it's it's great to
- 19:20Speaker 2: see and hear the things that you're doing.
- 19:24Speaker 6: Uh.
- 19:24Speaker 2: We we here really wish Taylor the best. I mean,
- 19:26Speaker 2: Ashley understands firsthand what it's like to go through residency
- 19:32Speaker 2: based on her dad doing that, and it's a grind.
- 19:35Speaker 2: We all are familiar with that, and you know, we're
- 19:38Speaker 2: hoping it finishes strong. And Ivan, just a final question
- 19:43Speaker 2: for you, Is there anything that we didn't talk about here,
- 19:45Speaker 2: anything next for you, Anything you want to clear up
- 19:49Speaker 2: that is in your future?
- 19:52Speaker 3: Man? Who knows? Man, that's I just think about this year.
- 19:55Speaker 6: It's like, you know, I started a whole new career
- 19:58Speaker 6: with the commercial real eside stuff. I got engaged and
- 20:01Speaker 6: gave her a car, like just so many random things.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I got a puppy. So I don't know what's next.
- 20:05Speaker 6: And one thing about myself is like I just know
- 20:09Speaker 6: I just want to keep growing every year and keep
- 20:10Speaker 6: exposing myself to a lot of things and figuring out
- 20:12Speaker 6: what I want to do in life. More and more
- 20:15Speaker 6: so I don't know what's next. It could be the
- 20:17Speaker 6: most random thing six months from now. I guarantee you
- 20:20Speaker 6: I could. That's how my life tends to go. Just
- 20:22Speaker 6: the most random thing pops up if I see it.
- 20:23Speaker 6: There's a good opportunity. I'm going to hop into that next.
- 20:27Speaker 6: But you know, everything for the most part's really good.
- 20:29Speaker 6: You know, you still everything's great, but then you know
- 20:32Speaker 6: there's always still the life struggles you just got to
- 20:34Speaker 6: push through. But my thing is, I'm just going to
- 20:36Speaker 6: keep getting better at every year somehow, So I just
- 20:40Speaker 6: got to stick to that.
- 20:41Speaker 5: We're doing a great job. He's been very calm and
- 20:43Speaker 5: tackling at all too.
- 20:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I've been exposed to quite a bit of my life,
- 20:48Speaker 6: so it's just not much that could rattle me anymore.
- 20:50Speaker 3: It's kind of it's kind of wild. I've realized it's
- 20:54Speaker 3: but yeah, yeah, so just.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Wait till Roley wakes up at two am, five consistent
- 20:58Speaker 2: nights in a row, and we'll see.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be pulling my hair out at that side.
- 21:03Speaker 4: Yeah, you'll be frustrated.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Hey, I've been great to catch up with you, great
- 21:07Speaker 2: to have you here in the almost famous podcast. Keep
- 21:10Speaker 2: us updated we'll be falling along for you know, whenever
- 21:13Speaker 2: the wedding is, get it, take your time, have fun
- 21:15Speaker 2: with it. And again congratulations to Taylor for you know,
- 21:19Speaker 2: being three years into a really four year difficult stretch
- 21:22Speaker 2: which he's the best man.
- 21:24Speaker 6: Definitely definitely appreciate you all. If you guys are ever
- 21:26Speaker 6: in Dallas, just let me know. I set up a
- 21:28Speaker 6: nice dinner or anything else.
- 21:29Speaker 4: You know, so I would take a Tesla.
- 21:33Speaker 3: You can come drive it.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I gotta get myself one next.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Maybe that's the new thing a gift to Yeah.
- 21:41Speaker 6: So I don't drive at all really, so not really actually,
- 21:45Speaker 6: like I just uber everywhere or walk everywhere. So whenever
- 21:48Speaker 6: we move out to the suburbs, I'll get I'll get
- 21:50Speaker 6: a car for myself. But for now I don't really
- 21:52Speaker 6: need to even use one. It's got like a little
- 21:54Speaker 6: grocery getter for myself.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good way, all right.
- 22:00Speaker 2: All right, that's been Ivan Hall on the Almost Famous podcast,
- 22:05Speaker 2: breaking down well, his engagement, new career, some exciting things
- 22:09Speaker 2: with his new family's family of three now or becoming
- 22:15Speaker 2: a family of three. I don't know which one you
- 22:17Speaker 2: would say. I would call it a family of three
- 22:19Speaker 2: at this point, sounds like he's doing great. We'll be
