- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hello my wellness witches, I'm your host Tecla.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: This is heal yourself with the law of attraction.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: And today, I'm revealing 10 habits that will change your life with chronic illness in 2026 if you start now.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you have chronic illness, December is either where the cycle repeats or where it finally breaks.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Most people don't realize this, but what you do in the next few weeks determines how your body enters at the new year.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: Not January, not your new use resolution right now, because chronic illness doesn't reset on January 1st.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: Your nervous patterns, your emotional responses, your identity around your body, they all carry over.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: And if nothing changes in December, 2026 starts exactly the same way 2025 did.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: With the same symptoms, the same fear, the same management strategy that doesn't really work.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: What we're talking about today, will actually shift how your body responds if symptoms present, and it will help you regulate how much power they take from you.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: These are the changes that move you from, resisting to responding, managing to understanding, and fearing symptoms to knowing what to do when they show up.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I know this because I lived on the other side of this cycle.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: I spent so long waiting to feel ready, waiting for symptoms to calm down first, waiting for life to give me permission.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing changed until I stopped waiting.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're listening to this thinking, I'll deal with healing properly next year.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: This episode is for you.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: Because the version of you who feels different in
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get into the first one.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, you stop waiting to feel ready.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Waiting to feel ready is not neutral.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: It actively trains your body to stay where it is.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: Every time you say, I'll start when symptoms calm down, your body learns that symptoms get to decide when you act.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's not rest.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's conditioning.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: It reinforces a loop where your nervous system stays alert, scanning and in charge, because the body doesn't interpret weighting as patients.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: It interprets it as, something isn't safe yet.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: So December, after December, the pattern continues with the same symptoms and anticipation, and same quiet sense of being on hold.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: What actually changes the trajectory isn't doing more.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's removing symptoms from the decision-making role.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Healing didn't start for me when I felt better.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: It started when I stopped letting how I felt dictate whether I moved.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: That one shift is why December matters, because it breaks the hierarchy where symptoms run the show.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: And once the hierarchy changes, the body starts responding differently.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Number two, you stop trying to fix your body and start working with it.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the trap, almost everyone with chronic illness falls into.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: They treat their body like a problem to solve.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Fixing sounds productive, but fixing keeps you in opposition.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Every time your approach your body is something that's broken or misfiring or failing, you stay in this fight dynamic, and fight is a stress state, even when it's quiet and controlled.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: When symptoms show up and the response is what's wrong with me now, the body stays on high alert.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: When the response shifts to, what is my body reacting to?
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: The system settles.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: This single reframe changes how long symptoms loss and how intensely they show up.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: Working with your body means you stop trying to override signals and you start exploring them.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not giving up.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's working with precision.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: And precision is what creates movement and change in progress instead of burnout.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: Number three, you reclaim mental space.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: Most people with chronic illness aren't overwhelmed because of what's happening right now.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: They're overwhelmed because their mind is constantly living ahead of their body.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: They're running scenarios, scanning for what's next and trying to stay one step ahead of symptoms.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: That future tracking feels responsible and gives you an element of control or a sense of control, but it's not.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Keep your system again in a state where nothing ever feels peaceful or settled.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Your body can't calm down when your mind is constantly asking, what is this gets worse or what if this never ends?
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: Re-claiming mental space isn't about positive thinking.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's about stopping the habit of living five steps ahead.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: When the future stops being the main focus, the body finally gets room to regulate in the present.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: Not because life is perfect, but because the alarm stops running all day long.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: Number four, you build momentum before January.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: Here's why December actually matters more.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: January is where everyone tries to change everything at once, right?
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: With all these plans and goals and the notion that they're going to do it all perfectly from day one.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: If you have chronic illness, your body does not respond well to that.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: So starting in December isn't about pushing.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's about easing into change while things are already of its slower.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: You're not trying to overhaul your whole life.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: You're just adjusting how you respond day to day.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: So when January comes, you're not starting from zero.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: You're already familiar with these small little changes.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: And for a body that flares under pressure, that familiarity and slow pace makes a huge difference.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: Number five, you reduce fear around symptoms.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: Fear drops the moment you stop trying to get rid of symptoms and start asking why they're here.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: Pushing symptoms away keeps your body in resistance.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: And resistance tells the body something is wrong.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Asking why does the opposite?
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: It signals attention, not threat.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: The moment a symptom is met with curiosity instead of urgency, the body no longer needs to escalate it to be heard.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: that's the change.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: Fear fades because the symptom isn't an enemy anymore.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's purely information.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Data.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: And when the body feels listened to instead of far, it doesn't need to stay loud.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: Number six, small emotional shifts now change how your body responds later.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Here's something most people don't connect.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Your body remembers how you handle things, not consciously, physically.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: When you move through a moment of stress or discomfort or uncertainty without escalating it, that experience gets stored.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: So the next time something similar happens, your body just doesn't start reacting from scratch.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: It reacts based on what it's learned before and what's repeated.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: So every time you can do that without escalating, those tiny shifts matter.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: You're not trying to calm your body forever.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: You're teaching it moment by moment that not everything requires the same level of response.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Again, those moments add up, and the body starts reacting differently before you even think about it.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Number 7.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: You stop identifying as someone who is managing chronic illness.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: The way you see yourself matters more than most people realize.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: When you identify as someone who is managing illness, that identity comes with an unspoken story.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: Your body is fragile, unpredictable, and always one step away from getting worse.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: So even on good days, you're still relating to yourself as someone who has to be careful.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: What changes is not the symptoms first?
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's the identity.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: You stop seeing yourself as a person whose job it is to manage a problem and start seeing yourself as someone who understands their body and knows how to respond to it.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: That identity shifts changes how you interpret sensations, how much meaning you give to them, and how much authority they have over your life.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: Your no longer living is someone with an illness at the center of who you are.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're someone in a relationship with a body you start understanding better, and that shift quietly rewires everything that comes next.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: Number eight, you stop treating flare-ups as setbacks.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: What makes flares feel devastating isn't the flare up itself.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's the story you would attach to it.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Most people read a flare up as I've gone backwards or I mess something up.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: And that story changes how you move forward.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: So they pull back and second guess every decision and they go into over-correction mode.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's what actually creates the setback.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: What changes is when a flare-up is no longer used as evidence about who you are or where you're headed.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's just information about what your body has been dealing with recently.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: When you don't let a flare rewrite the bigger picture, it stays contained to the moment it belongs to.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't leak into the days after and it doesn't undo progress that was made before.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: And that's how people start moving faster, even though flare-ups still happen.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: Number nine, you rebuild your relationship with your body.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people with chronic illness don't just feel disconnected from their body.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: They're angry at it.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like it betrayed them and took their life and didn't ask permission and now can't be trusted.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: That anger makes sense, but it also creates distance.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: When there's distance, communication only happens through symptoms, loud ones.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: What changes is when you stop relating to your body purely through resentment and start engaging with it again, even if that relationship is strained at first?
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's not about forcing positivity or pretending your grateful, just staying in the conversation instead of shutting it out.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: When your body doesn't feel ignored, it doesn't need to interrupt your life as aggressively to get your attention.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: And that shift changes how intense symptoms get, how much space they take up.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Lastly, number 10, you explore the emotional drivers underneath chronic illness.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: Everything we've talked about today comes back to one thing.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Symptoms don't come out of nowhere.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're responses to pressure and unspoken stress and to the things your body has been carrying long before your symptoms appeared.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: When you stop asking, how do I get rid of this?
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: And stop asking, what is my body responding to?
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's the catalyst for big change.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: When you can see exactly what's emotionally attached to your symptoms, you stop chasing fixes and start responding in a way that actually makes sense for your body.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're not guessing anymore and you're not jumping to worst case conclusions.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: You can actually just make sense of what's happening instead of reacting to it.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: There's a free chat GBT prompt I created that does exactly that.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's linked in the show notes for you.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: You enter your physical symptoms or diagnosis and it immediately identifies the emotional patterns connected to them.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: So you can see what your body has actually been responding to.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: Go and check it out, ladies.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: I've made it so easy for you.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: That's all for today.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Peace love and mung beans.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Bye!
