- 0:02podcast Woo woo wow. Love that money.
- 0:09You know where that's from, guys.
- 0:12Rings a bell honestly, but I kind of forget.
- 0:15Josh knows where his wrong. Oh come on anyway, Talladega
- 0:19Nights. Not a sponsor, not that it would
- 0:21be a. Movie from like 2000?
- 0:23Which part? What?
- 0:25Which part? When they're thanking baby Jesus
- 0:28around the. Table.
- 0:28My God, sweet little baby Jesus. Yeah.
- 0:33Also, he was a man. How rude.
- 0:37I have to mention Powerade and all our grace.
- 0:39Alright, Anyway, I thought I'd start us off hot without.
- 0:43Thanks. Welcome in one and all, the
- 0:46Banker management, the Fantasy Hockey podcast with Jake, Josh
- 0:49and the Vork Meister himself. How y'all doing today?
- 0:53OHS pretty magnificent. I'm magnificently as Kevin.
- 0:59It seems you. I mean, listen, I I the the woo
- 1:03was big, but I'm not as magnificent as Josh today.
- 1:06But it's hard to be so. Alright.
- 1:09Yeah, you're right, it is hard to.
- 1:13You went from like really joyful to eor real quick there.
- 1:18Don't roast. You're like that, everybody.
- 1:20Loves you're You're a real 1. Today we're doing our week 4
- 1:26mailbag episode and some top hot pics.
- 1:29You know that doesn't work. Hot topics looks like very low
- 1:33brow. The viewers are like Dang this
- 1:35guy again. See what he did there?
- 1:38He switched the 1st letter of the two words and that made.
- 1:42It funny it worked with picnics or 6.
- 1:44But. Topics did not hit as much.
- 1:47I think so I think so all right. You can find all the socials in
- 1:52our link tree in the podcast description join the discord
- 1:56great community over there. We love interacting with
- 1:59everybody in there. Instagram ex Reddit, the whole
- 2:05shebang, all everywhere tree if you like.
- 2:09Yeah, OK. Not that.
- 2:13I think that. Fire.
- 2:19OK. Yeah, alright.
- 2:22Let us begin with #1 on the mail bag question this week.
- 2:27Alright let's dive into some quick queues and A's calzones on
- 2:32Reddit. Asked my bud just offered me his
- 2:34Panarin for my Brady. Could Chuck should I stop being
- 2:36his friend now or counter offer before I stop being his friend?
- 2:41Alright, this is a bad offer at all, to be honest, but
- 2:44definitely, definitely counter before stop being his friend
- 2:47because you want to see what you can get first, right?
- 2:50But yeah, I know I I'm a Panera Anna Brady owner and I just
- 2:54can't get rid of my first round pick like that, especially when
- 2:57the timetable for his return is like clear like that's it sucks
- 3:01that it's gonna be like 2 months.
- 3:02We're already what, 2 weeks into the 2?
- 3:04Months, so it's only gonna be like 4 to six weeks left.
- 3:07Like you don't do you know trade of Kashuk who has was only out
- 3:09for Ford 6 more weeks. Not that planarians bad
- 3:12obviously plans like second round pick in most leagues, but
- 3:14it's also not like Paris off to a hot start right now.
- 3:16If you're gonna try and like buy low sell high, you have to sell
- 3:19high. Sell someone who's actually
- 3:20doing well. Yeah, so stop being his friend,
- 3:23but maybe send a calendar of Panera and plus his best player
- 3:26and then see if that, yeah, that could work.
- 3:28Yeah, that'll be a good way to end that friendship on the spot.
- 3:33To talk too valuable. For he started.
- 3:35Yeah. You can't.
- 3:36You can't, but there's a plus that can make it work, so we'll
- 3:39see what he says. Alright, the mad Haber on Reddit
- 3:44asked should I accept Tage Thompson for my Panarin Cats
- 3:47league with goals, assists, probably points, shots, hits,
- 3:49blocks but I'm punting hits this year.
- 3:51Also I'm focused on weeks 22 to 23 because he's assuming he's
- 3:55going to get the bike because he kills it every year because he's
- 3:58a listener of Bangor management obviously where Panarin has two
- 4:02more games than Tage. So essentially trade for
- 4:05Panarin, keeping in mind the playoff schedule.
- 4:08I'm keeping Panarin. I like Tejas started hot.
- 4:11Like he hasn't necessarily been the most consistent with points.
- 4:15His shots and hits have been amazing though, you gotta give
- 4:18him that. But Panarin shots have been
- 4:20good. You're selling Panera this floor
- 4:23if you're doing this, and I think you just gotta hold,
- 4:25especially with the playoff schedule in mind.
- 4:27This is not enough to get me to get Panarin off my team, so I'm
- 4:31still holding. In our league with face off wins
- 4:35and not punting hits, I'm actually taking Tage over
- 4:37Panarin. I'll be curious to see what he
- 4:39says because. You're so biased.
- 4:40Either. Well, that's it.
- 4:41I mean, I think you're biased too, but because you have an
- 4:44iron and I have tagged. But I had the gutters drafted
- 4:46higher. That's usually better.
- 4:49I mean he was drafted like 2 rounds earlier and Tate should
- 4:52have gone around earlier than that.
- 4:53So they really it's one round difference.
- 4:55You're the guy who always once the season starts, draft
- 4:57position doesn't matter. So it's not like I'm talking
- 4:59like a tenth round, but always your Cameron.
- 5:01Yeah, I think there's big context here that Panarin sucked
- 5:03so far and he just been killing it.
- 5:05But no, I don't think this crazy at all.
- 5:07Like if we look at the shots and hits and face off wins again,
- 5:10like I said in our league, but in his league where you're
- 5:13punting hits and you are really looking forward to that week.
- 5:162223 yes, I would take Panera with those four-game weeks over
- 5:20tagged with the three-game weeks because I think the points
- 5:22penalty should still end up with more points.
- 5:24So even though he ends up with more shots and a lot more hits,
- 5:28then I still think it's worth it to keep it around.
- 5:30Yeah, that's the big one. He's punting hits.
- 5:33If I'm being objective here, I I think I'm, I'm like, I still
- 5:38want to want Panera and more, but it's very close.
- 5:43And the only reason I'm giving him the edge, frankly, is the
- 5:45playoff schedule. Yeah.
- 5:47So that's really what it comes down to.
- 5:50But otherwise, I mean you can't go.
- 5:53Wrong. It's the context.
- 5:54Here is the playoff schedule and the punting hits makes it that I
- 5:57would keep an errand, but in other situations I actually
- 6:00prefer to teach. Yeah, that's, I don't think
- 6:03we're just gonna be like he had a few games where you had five
- 6:05or six hits, which was an anomaly.
- 6:07I think most, yeah, getting one or zero.
- 6:09So I think on average that's kind of what it's going to be.
- 6:13But I think Panarin, we saw his floor last year where the
- 6:16Rangers were abysmal the whole year and he was at 1.1 points
- 6:20per game. Tage has been getting better
- 6:23every year and has yet to be a point per game.
- 6:25I I feel like I wanna be surprised herself.
- 6:27With the start of the season. I mean I could see period ending
- 6:30at 1.1, teen cheating at one. Panarin ends with like 2.8
- 6:33shots, tangents, like four shots and a hit, and like 4 faceoff
- 6:37wins. If that does happen, you're
- 6:39happier with Sage. Yeah, exactly.
- 6:40And I think that's a reasonable thing to to say.
- 6:44Yeah, just I think, I think tage probably hovers under point per
- 6:47game. I can seem to.
- 6:48Not have her honestly coming in with a with a sick.
- 6:50Would you rather over here? Yeah, he's gunning for if you're
- 6:52Kevin's job honestly. Alright, let's move on to the
- 6:57next one. Sir Pinsky on Reddit asked in
- 7:00A10 team league, is Miro Heiskanen worth keeping and
- 7:02hopes he improves or should I try trading him for someone like
- 7:05Jackson Lacombe or Jacob Trouba in brackets?
- 7:07Someone has too many Ducks players, so that's why he
- 7:10mentioned specifically some Ducks defensemen here.
- 7:12So let's view it in two separate questions.
- 7:14First, is Miro Heiskanen worth holding in this ten team league?
- 7:17If not, would you take either of those guys over him?
- 7:20In A10 team league if you like mirrors worth holding just cause
- 7:24you're probably still starting 4 defensemen minimum.
- 7:27That's the impression I'm under and murals shots have actually
- 7:30been better than expected and is blocks have been like solid
- 7:33written where you're expecting. But he's never been a points
- 7:36guy. Like last year he was a .5
- 7:37points per game. This season he's pretty much
- 7:40right near the same range. It's really just the power play.
- 7:43I think he loses the power play, the Harley.
- 7:45Eventually one thing starts slowing down and I mean, I'm
- 7:49always trying to get me off my team.
- 7:51I'm being real. He's just one of those
- 7:52defensemen that this drafted too high for what I.
- 7:54Don't think any of us would ever half mirror on our team in the
- 7:571st place. I don't think any of us would
- 7:58draft. Him, he's the same archetype as
- 7:59like the Morgan Riley is the Carlson the gossip except for
- 8:02getting those guys like 10 rounds later.
- 8:04Yeah. And The thing is with like he's
- 8:05gonna is that despite being on such a better team and better
- 8:09power play than those other guys, the other guys put up
- 8:11better points numbers than him. So it's kind of it's a weird
- 8:14situation where you see power play one quarterback on one of
- 8:16the best teams in the league. But but yeah, no, we definitely
- 8:19are not a fan. But you can't just drop him,
- 8:21don't think. And so looking at these, Jackson
- 8:24Lacombe, Jacob Trouba, what do you guys think?
- 8:26I think you can get either of these guys plus potentially if
- 8:30you're adding Turbo in this conversation, it's because of
- 8:34Bangor Guy would be valuable for your team.
- 8:36Yeah, I think Trouba is showing like obviously we were low on.
- 8:39We just found him in. The thing with Trouba, just to
- 8:42make sure that it is a bangers league, don't be fooled by the
- 8:45random like 3 points he has in the last two games.
- 8:47OK, he's he's not gonna be a points guy.
- 8:49So if that's not asking this question.
- 8:51This is not a point break out for only three points against
- 8:54the whole season. Like honestly that's more likely
- 8:57than him keeping up this space. But it's more like the banger
- 9:01category coverage since Gus has been out specifically and on the
- 9:04ice like so much more. And that has helped us hitting
- 9:07his blocks. So if you need a guy that's like
- 9:09that archetype, I think Shiba is definitely like a.
- 9:11Name that you would love. I would love to do a 2 for two
- 9:14or you do like he's been in plus a forward for Truba plus a
- 9:17forward and you convince the other person.
- 9:20I mean, it's fair to convince them that he's like a lot better
- 9:22than Truba. So you can get a big upgrade at
- 9:24the forward position while also getting rid of his skin in for a
- 9:27true, but you're just happy to plug into your lineup for the
- 9:29back cats. So I like that a lot as a kind
- 9:31of trade. Where do you rank these guys
- 9:33rest of season? Top to bottom.
- 9:36You're talking, he's gonna come. Truba.
- 9:38Yeah, it's just such a different archetype with Houston.
- 9:42No, no, right. And it depends on like the
- 9:43point. Like that, would you rather look
- 9:45or he's gonna rest of the season?
- 9:46Look, that's a good one. I'm I'm in my.
- 9:50They're both. Defensemen that I don't like.
- 9:53They're the same player. They're the same player except
- 9:55Lacombe. Like I think he blocks a little
- 9:59more but he shoots a little less.
- 10:01And like he's gonna PowerPoint one spot is in jeopardy, but
- 10:05Lacoma parsley one spot is on a way worse team.
- 10:07So it's like it's a very interesting comparison to to
- 10:11like to be real, I don't really want either of them on my team,
- 10:14but I think I'd take lacoma risking.
- 10:17I wouldn't do A1 for one. I would ask for Lacombe plus,
- 10:19because I think he's gonna has more value in a trade.
- 10:22But I would prefer to come over he's going in and I'd rather I
- 10:25think I'd rather have Trump than either of them on my team.
- 10:27Value wise are the least trade value.
- 10:31But the person and like, you know, happiest to just plug into
- 10:33my roster and just get me those hits and blocks and pins and
- 10:36stuff, then I'd probably rather true by the most.
- 10:38Yeah, I agree. I would go trouble Lacombe,
- 10:40Haskin in, I think Haskin's been overperforming, Lacombe
- 10:43underperforming. So when it's all said and done,
- 10:45there's an edge to look home, but still not super intrigued.
- 10:49So that's what I would do. OK limestone kitten on Reddit
- 10:53asked thoughts on Moe cider. I'm in a 14 team league so I'd
- 10:57never drop him, but curious if you think he'll increase his
- 10:59offensive production. I'll start because I have slider
- 11:03and it's sucked so far. Yes, he has to increase his
- 11:06offence production because it's been nonexistent.
- 11:08And that just is not possible to stay that way when he's on the
- 11:11power play for Detroit, which is top five in the league.
- 11:14So even if he's not the centerpiece of that power play,
- 11:17just from being there, he's gonna get power play points here
- 11:20and there. There's also the fact that he
- 11:21plays like 25 minutes a night so and he's a good player.
- 11:24So it's a he's going to pick up the offensive production.
- 11:27I don't think you can expect him to necessarily take that big
- 11:30step that everyone who drafted him kind of hoped for.
- 11:32Like I think he could end up being what, like .5 points per
- 11:35game, something like that. Whereas right now he's at like
- 11:37.22, which is going to be weight is way too low for a guy of his
- 11:41deployments to end up with. So yeah, he'll increase his
- 11:44office of production, but it's not gonna be that crazy.
- 11:46I think I'm more concerned or what's more interesting is the
- 11:50back at which haven't necessarily been there.
- 11:52I mean, the hits have been there and the shots have been there,
- 11:55but the blocks haven't been there.
- 11:56I think it'll come. I don't see him just having
- 11:58stopped to stop blocking out of nowhere.
- 12:00So all that to say, I'm not panicking a cider that I am very
- 12:04disappointed in him so far, but I think he'll turn it around.
- 12:07I think you're disappointed in him because of the point
- 12:09production and not the backup production.
- 12:11And the backup production has definitely been like, let's say
- 12:14less than you expected. But it's not like a crazy amount
- 12:17like just shooting more than he did last year, hitting basically
- 12:20the same. His blocks have been down like
- 12:22point 5.6, which in the grand scheme of things, like yeah, it
- 12:25makes a difference, maybe by a block or two on a weekly basis,
- 12:28but it's not like game. Breaking No, you're right, it's
- 12:30more about the points. So I and the point is welcome.
- 12:33I think maybe the power play points will won't be as good as
- 12:37we expected. And we've seen this in the past,
- 12:39like when Siders there's like the power play clicks, but he's
- 12:41not the guy that is involved in the points, right?
- 12:44So, yeah, and that's why they've had other guys be in that spot
- 12:47like previously besides him, right.
- 12:49So maybe it's just shows that maybe as long as it's still
- 12:52successful, they'll keep him there.
- 12:53But I don't think it's not as safe.
- 12:56But the points, you'll get more involved in the points.
- 12:58Yeah, he's gonna positively regress for sure.
- 13:02Don't sell him low, even if you're offered some amazing
- 13:06player like Dylan Holloway. No, but all.
- 13:11The way to Josh for his silver one for one.
- 13:14I did because I'm a good friend now, but honestly, like I, I
- 13:17still really like cider and I'm not that I'm not that worried
- 13:21about his production risk this season because his banger floor
- 13:24is there. He's gonna be great.
- 13:26And at the same time, I agree with Kevin that maybe his power
- 13:30play one spot isn't super safe, but doesn't really take away
- 13:33from the fact that he's gonna get big minutes, great banger
- 13:35categories, and that the worst case I see is points being .5.
- 13:39But if you could get him up to like .6, maybe even .7, which is
- 13:43a stretch but it's possible, then you're super happy with
- 13:46them. There's nowhere to go but up.
- 13:47All this does. Yeah, yeah, pretty much.
- 13:49Because that's how bad he started.
- 13:51Exactly. All right mass CH1 ingon I don't
- 13:56know how to pronounce this on Reddit asked I have too many
- 13:59right wings and need to get rid of Dylan Guenther who would be a
- 14:02good non right wing target. To give some context, his other
- 14:05hits A2 right wing start league with no util and the two other
- 14:08right wings he has are pasta and niches.
- 14:09So yeah, if you're wondering how the heck are you trying to get
- 14:12rid of Gunther, then that's that's the context.
- 14:15So. I have some.
- 14:16I have some great names, actually.
- 14:18Yeah. I think if you can flip Gunther
- 14:20for, I'm gonna give you some left wings and some centres, but
- 14:23I think you could potentially get Jason Robertson.
- 14:26I think you could potentially get Jake Guentzel.
- 14:29I think Brayden Point is very attainable right now as well if
- 14:32you're looking for a centre I think.
- 14:35All the I like like a Bouchard maybe.
- 14:38Yeah, we're in the Bouchard. If you could get cider, that's
- 14:41that's interesting. But I think, I think Bouchard,
- 14:45Warenski, Quinn, Hughes are all names that I would be like
- 14:48trying to see if there are even available in my league for for
- 14:51Gunther, because he's been better than all of those.
- 14:53Guys, what about toss out a goalie there just so we round
- 14:56out all the positions? Vasilevski.
- 14:59Yeah, I think about Selesky. You're shooting high.
- 15:02Besides Vasilevsky, what's? What's the one that you think is
- 15:04more attainable? I mean, who's still good?
- 15:06Who are you confident as the third best goal in fantasy right
- 15:09now? Just turning, I I could see I
- 15:13should certainly been good though, but Rangers have been
- 15:15really bad. So actually, yeah, that's a good
- 15:16target. I could see maybe Blackwood, you
- 15:19know, with the, you know, maybe people.
- 15:20Are I think you can get more than Blackwood.
- 15:22OK. Who else?
- 15:24I think this organ is a great target.
- 15:25I think she's. Working.
- 15:26Yeah, let's leave it there. But anyways, there's kind of one
- 15:29of at least one of every position.
- 15:30I like all the ones Kevin and Jake mentioned and yeah.
- 15:34I would even do this. You can do like a Matthew Nyes
- 15:37plus or like a Time plus. I like that too.
- 15:41Yeah. Yeah, we laid out a lot of.
- 15:42Things getting don't think getting Stitzel plus that's been
- 15:45popping off. So I think, yeah, I think you're
- 15:47getting in one for one, honestly.
- 15:48I think one for one it could be interesting.
- 15:50I would I would do Gunter plus tickets do so.
- 15:52Yes. In the like this has this
- 15:54shallow. Yeah, don't settle and don't aim
- 15:56for an overperforming guy. Ryan O'Reilly as an example.
- 16:00Been super good. Not worth it.
- 16:02Like keep. The same stratosphere of.
- 16:04Even with the position ability or Mulken, don't be fooled.
- 16:09Even even nude who's been fired, Like these are guys who, like,
- 16:12look like, they're like, yeah. They're trying.
- 16:14Don't. Basically don't settle just
- 16:16because of the position. Take your time and get the full
- 16:19value form. Yeah cuz injuries do happen,
- 16:21right? If one of his guys ahead of them
- 16:23could get injured like Gunther's, amazing so.
- 16:26Yeah. All right.
- 16:27Ace on Discord asked what are your thoughts on Michkov and
- 16:30Finney. We talked a lot about Michkov on
- 16:33last week's Hot Topics. I don't think there's too much
- 16:37we need to add there, but on Finney, that's kind of one of
- 16:39these hot topics, you know, that everyone's been talking about.
- 16:43I feel like it's very much while Patrick Kane is injured and he
- 16:47has partly 1, he has immense value and I like him a lot as a
- 16:50stream for that. And then once Patrick King comes
- 16:53back, he's not necessarily a drop because he was doing solid
- 16:55even while Kane was there. But then it kind of depends how
- 16:58deep your league is, because I think his production will drop
- 17:01off significantly. Yeah, cats are there though.
- 17:04I think Kate comes back fully, takes a hit.
- 17:06I think it's inevitable. Yeah.
- 17:09And then I think Mitch call, honestly, like I've been saying
- 17:11it since the start of the season.
- 17:12I don't want him on my team, like no matter what his.
- 17:14Deal is one of those situations that were like a guy comes to
- 17:17training camp, say out of shape or he was injured or whatever
- 17:20and has a first like a terrible first two months, but then just
- 17:23turns it on for the rest of the season, in which case he's like
- 17:25a great buy low. Or is this one of those cases
- 17:27where the guys just not gonna have a good year?
- 17:29I think it's just one of those cases, like I'm pretty much
- 17:31cover in the same boat. Like there, their ceiling is
- 17:34going to be better than what it is right now.
- 17:36I still don't want them on my team, but it's gonna be a
- 17:38headache all season. Yeah, that's very.
- 17:40Fair and Mitch covers a lot more one-dimensional than stretch, so
- 17:43at least you have the potential like you supposed to shoot in
- 17:47the air and PIM. So with the exposure like you're
- 17:50always hoping for a more complete players.
- 17:52Mitch is just like you're hoping for.
- 17:56Thoughts on something like because with scratch, like
- 17:58compared to like, like you just said, like let like once you've
- 18:01accepted that he sucks, you know?
- 18:03Yeah, but like if he could be doing that like double, double
- 18:06with one point, whatever, Pimms, it's still a guy in a deep
- 18:09angers league that you're happy to round out your roster with,
- 18:11right? So that's the difference as
- 18:13Michkov, if he doesn't get points, he's just doing nothing
- 18:15for you. So that's a big difference
- 18:17there. Anyway, we'd all rather funny
- 18:19rest of season, right? Over Michkov.
- 18:22Yeah, I think to make that decision have to see what
- 18:26finishes deployment looks like after King comes back.
- 18:28Yeah, I feel it's not a decision you make right now or.
- 18:31I mean, if any is gonna be line one power play 2 most likely
- 18:34when Kane comes back, that's what he was doing while Kane was
- 18:36there. So and he was like I said, he
- 18:38was putting up good even strength numbers in the bangs
- 18:40are there. So it really depends how low you
- 18:42are on each because Michael is going to be power play one line
- 18:45one or two. So that's a tough one, I feel
- 18:50like. Personally.
- 18:53I feel like I still gotta go Michkov even though.
- 18:56Yeah, I think the point stealing is too high.
- 18:58And at that point when it's so like let's say quote UN quote
- 19:00low risk with these guys, I'm just gonna take the higher
- 19:03ceiling with that has the highest.
- 19:04And honestly I think you can make that flip right now.
- 19:06I think any I think you can flip finny from each Gov.
- 19:09But I'll probably have more fun with Vinny on my roster because
- 19:11I just don't have much Gov That's it 100%.
- 19:16Anyways, next question. Shepard Commander on Discord
- 19:19asked which of these rookies are worth holding in a redraft
- 19:22league. All right, let's rapid fire this
- 19:25one. It's a big list of names.
- 19:26Schaefer. Yes or no?
- 19:27I think it's a yes. Yes.
- 19:28Yes. Yeah.
- 19:29OK. Finney.
- 19:30Yes. Yes.
- 19:31Yes. Snuggerud.
- 19:32No, no, like he's like a drop in then like you can watch list and
- 19:37pick him up. You can stream Wall.
- 19:38Robert Thomas is out when he comes back, and probably not
- 19:40gonna be worth rostering. Exactly.
- 19:41Yeah, Rinzel, I'm it's kind of starting to look like a no Yeah,
- 19:46Seneca, I think, I think that's another no, I think like I think
- 19:50he'll he'll Yeah, exactly. I mean all these guys are watch
- 19:53list so far. Yeah, watch this.
- 19:55But no, not now. Yeah, that's actually I don't
- 19:57even think I would watch list. I think that's just no.
- 20:00I mean he will be good in his career, but not this year,
- 20:03correct. I don't even think watchlist
- 20:05he's power play 1 now and he's doing nothing with it.
- 20:07He has he's almost negative peripherals like it's actually.
- 20:10Crazy is what Brian Clark was when he got power play one for
- 20:14the Kings last season where it was like he was getting 0 Paris
- 20:17but like yeah, the. Odd.
- 20:18I don't know. I'd.
- 20:19Rather there. I'd rather Clark last year power
- 20:21play one than correct this year power play 1 enough.
- 20:23But I think Park has room to grow.
- 20:25Obviously. Like it's only been officially
- 20:26overseeing human I can find, so maybe he's getting back on the
- 20:29watch. List, list, Yeah, Demidov,
- 20:32obviously. Yeah, obviously.
- 20:34You're biggest. Special, especially with that
- 20:36Power Play 1 deployment like that, we knew he was gonna get
- 20:38and he did get. That's a huge, huge yes.
- 20:41And also even even the yeses, the yeses are subject to how
- 20:47deep your league is. 100% for sure.
- 20:49The only guys that I feel like are like must roster even in a
- 20:53shadow league, or probably Demidov and Schaefer and
- 20:56Schaefer. Yeah, me too.
- 20:58I agree. Next.
- 20:59One, OK, Brian on Discord asked in A10 team league with wins,
- 21:03loss goes against average saves and shutouts, who would you drop
- 21:06between Almark Kemper and Familja?
- 21:09So obviously like you can always say what's the how deep is the
- 21:13league, what's your situation, whatever.
- 21:14But let's go with the assumption that you have to drop one of
- 21:16these three. Who are you dropping?
- 21:19Something to me. Mark me, I'm going to.
- 21:21My first drop. Having use of Amalga.
- 21:24I think America just cause. I think Utah is so good.
- 21:26I know Utah is really good, but I feel like Ottawa can also be
- 21:29really good and I think I'll be happier with All Mark on my
- 21:32roster like later in the season. But it's so close honestly, like
- 21:37I couldn't. So first of all, we all agree
- 21:39that we all agree that Kemper is not the.
- 21:40Drop. Yeah, you have to keep just
- 21:42because he's on the best team here.
- 21:44Yeah, I think that like the milk is like on a team that is
- 21:47showing they are good, whereas all marks on a team that could
- 21:51be good. So I'd rather take the guy who's
- 21:52already kind of proving it this early in the season.
- 21:54Obviously things can change, but I mean, Falco is one of my
- 21:57signature picks going into the year and he's just really
- 22:00delivering. So yeah, so that's what I would
- 22:02do with all. The Milk is the best IRL actual
- 22:05goalie. He's been amazing his whole
- 22:06career and his team. In front of vinegar now.
- 22:09Now he has a good team so easily.
- 22:11Honestly, yeah, probably all are probably all Mark.
- 22:13Yeah. I just think that I just think
- 22:14that was going to be better than what they.
- 22:16Currently I fully agree. I feel I like obviously in most
- 22:19situations I would say don't drop any of them.
- 22:21But in the in the context of, let's just say you have to drop
- 22:23one. It would go with all.
- 22:24Mark and if you look at the link were all Mark.
- 22:29Hamill has been nuts, but he's not going to be the whole season
- 22:32like he's gonna lose. No, but I do.
- 22:33I do like Utah. I go camper from Elko Almark.
- 22:36In terms of the the logic here is we'll quickly touch on this,
- 22:39but like, I feel like when there's a 10 team lead, you kind
- 22:42of assume that on the waivers there's gonna be a lot of good
- 22:44qualities. So if that's the case, you don't
- 22:46have to feel bad about dropping like these fringe guys like all
- 22:49Mark who should have been rostered going into the draft.
- 22:51But like after a few weeks gonna suck because on waivers
- 22:55replacement value. But if you look at your waivers
- 22:57and the best goalies there are like she loves and Ursin and a
- 23:01bunch of other backups then or Monty or something, like I'm not
- 23:06dropping any of these guys because yes, the replacement
- 23:08value is next to nothing. And if you drop them, somebody
- 23:12else picking them up. And then if you're one injury
- 23:14away from being in a terrible goalie position.
- 23:16So yeah, just keep that in mind. Percent.
- 23:18All right, Paul Elon Discord asked who are some good examples
- 23:21of great hockey player IRL but terrible for fantasy.
- 23:24I gotta go with my boy right off the bat.
- 23:25Like the winner of this award every year, Devon Taves this
- 23:28guy. Just like you said, John Slavin.
- 23:31I mean, OK, yeah, that's even better because he's.
- 23:33Not There's a lot of good there's.
- 23:34A lot for me. The reason I mentioned teams is
- 23:36he's always like 7580% rostered and just makes no sense.
- 23:40Saving at least is like not rostered because everyone knows
- 23:42he's just an amazing defenseman but does nothing so but for some
- 23:46reason he gets rostered. I don't know.
- 23:48Anyways, the one year tables actually good in fantasy, like
- 23:52the leading fantasy. I actually traded him two Josh.
- 23:54It's my first year doing fantasy and I didn't realize that he's
- 23:57not supposed to be good for fantasy.
- 23:58He actually was like that year. He actually was sick that year,
- 24:01mostly because he was playing with Kumar and he had a great
- 24:04plus minus here, but. That you're playing with the.
- 24:08Yeah, OK. Yeah.
- 24:09I'm going gave Rakov and there's like OK, go Kevin and I have one
- 24:13more name in case you don't say it.
- 24:15Well, I feel like the easy answer is here defenseman,
- 24:17right, because they're not they're not valuable for anyone
- 24:20else keep you 1. So it's just talking about like
- 24:22those defensive guys that he's. Getting probably 1 and 41 and
- 24:28he's still not not good for fantasy.
- 24:30Let's just name one forward that's better in real life than
- 24:33for fantasy. OK.
- 24:37It's tough because forwards minutes translate to fantasy
- 24:40value a lot better than defenseman.
- 24:42This is like a very difficult one.
- 24:45I have the perfect answer. Fill the note.
- 24:49OK, so it's that. So it's, it's, I mean, at the
- 24:51end of the day, just defensive players, right?
- 24:53Yeah, kind of the five like Jake Evans, you know, like if we're
- 24:57going for perhaps close to home, you know?
- 25:00But yeah, no, that's a good one. And The funny thing is there's
- 25:03no goalies who are good in real life but bad for fantasy, right?
- 25:07Just like if you're good, then you're good.
- 25:09John Gibson. Actually, no, you know what?
- 25:11No, that's not true. Good goalies on bad teams,
- 25:13right? Yeah, that's that's the loss
- 25:15here. Exactly.
- 25:16So that's a very situational depending on from year to year a
- 25:19goalie could go from being good goalie on but good for fantasy.
- 25:22It's a good goalie but bad for fantasy, just depending on the
- 25:25look at Sorokin. How about that?
- 25:26You know, like. The best example of that?
- 25:29Yeah, Alright, let's move on to the last.
- 25:31One Snow hand on Discord asked, do you think the Rangers are
- 25:34going to start trading away players to rebuild since they've
- 25:37started off the season horribly? Answered this question in the
- 25:41discord, but. Yeah, I thought it was
- 25:43interesting so I added it anyway.
- 25:45So. They're not trading like last
- 25:46year was a complete failure for them.
- 25:48I think this year and they made moves after last year and at the
- 25:52end of last year to be more win now than they were.
- 25:55So I think the Rangers are always a team that's like full
- 25:58on trying to compete. If the season goes bad, they're
- 26:01gonna they're gonna buy. Like maybe they'll maybe they'll
- 26:04flip Panarin for some room and make another move.
- 26:06Like I can see that potentially happening since he's the.
- 26:08Only not gonna rebuild it essentially like they can.
- 26:11They can sell pieces, but it's not really like selling.
- 26:13It's like Kevin just mentioned. It's selling just so you can
- 26:15acquire someone else with that space.
- 26:17Kind of like they did that last year, right?
- 26:18They got rid of Truba and Crider and then they made room and got
- 26:21JT. So it'll they're just they're
- 26:24not built to rebuild. The Rangers is as a team.
- 26:27They just always have to be at least making a semblance of
- 26:30competing. And they've also the moves
- 26:32they've made leading into the season, like you said, is to
- 26:34compete. So you can't just kind of shift
- 26:36and be like, oh, we're off to a bad start of the season and
- 26:39that's it. We're selling everyone and
- 26:41starting to tank. So so they're not going to
- 26:43completely give up. They're also gonna give it more
- 26:44time because it's still so early in the season.
- 26:46But I wouldn't be surprised, like even said, if Panarin gets
- 26:48traded, but it would be for another asset in return.
- 26:51It wouldn't be for like draft picks.
- 26:52What about laugh though? I feel like laugh is like the
- 26:55guy that they should get rid of because they can still get
- 26:57decent value back. Just sucks and competing.
- 27:00So I know he's on my. The Rangers are so bad at
- 27:03developing their players like they always have been.
- 27:05Like I feel like the haves would give a hull because he's from
- 27:08Quebec. Yeah, right.
- 27:10Like and I feel like it's interesting to think that way.
- 27:13It's definitely interesting. I don't see them getting rid of
- 27:15him, but you know what they got rid of Caco.
- 27:18So it's not out of anything could happen.
- 27:20But I think the two most likely to get traded are Panarin
- 27:23obviously to contract here for him.
- 27:24He's a F at the end of the year. So they either need to resign
- 27:26him or trade him. And I think Savannah had they
- 27:28were trying to trade him all of last year.
- 27:30So even though he's arguably and their best player so far this
- 27:32year, I could see him going as well.
- 27:34I think it's the two most likely.
- 27:36OK, let's do some hot topics. Alright, Hot Topics TM, let's
- 27:40dive right in. This is like my would you rather
- 27:42is Kevin gets to do those and I get to do these hot topics.
- 27:45So you've got here's a fun one that everyone's talking about.
- 27:48Jake Allen, Jacob Markstrom. What do we do with Alan?
- 27:52If we're in Allen Holder? Do we drop him?
- 27:54Do we hold him? Do we wait and see?
- 27:56It's a similar situation to Wedgewood and Blackwood because
- 28:00you know, Marshall missed time and then Alan has been
- 28:03exceptional in relief. We're not as we record this,
- 28:06Markstrom is is already back and is starting.
- 28:08Yeah, tonight, you know, it's fun for me is I got to play
- 28:11against Allen last week, the one week that he was a starter, and
- 28:14this week I get to play against Markstrom.
- 28:18The the main question here is like, do you believe that it's
- 28:20now a 5050 split or that the stats are gonna be more even as
- 28:24opposed to marching in the bulk of the load of the workload of
- 28:27the? Workload.
- 28:28The workload, you see, it's not only me who says it.
- 28:34Yeah, Yeah, I think there's. Talent because I'm a goalie
- 28:37needed team and I'm cutting him for the next hot goalie on the
- 28:41waiver wire. Not The Martian, yeah.
- 28:44There's no chance Allen's getting more than 50% right off
- 28:47the bat. And I don't think it's gonna be
- 28:49a 5050 either. The only way that it's even
- 28:52close to a 5050 is if whatever was injuring Markstrom is like
- 28:56something they're actually worried about and they want to
- 28:58manage how much he plays. So that's obviously a
- 29:00possibility. Like in this case, kind of
- 29:02similar with like Blackwood, Wedgewood, I'm not dropping him
- 29:04the second he comes back, right? Obviously, like there's
- 29:07situations where you really need a stream or whatever.
- 29:09Like, sure, you can drop him. It's nothing in the world, but
- 29:12in an ideal world, you hold on for a week and kind of see how
- 29:14things shake out similar to what the Wedgwood Blackwood.
- 29:17But yeah, I'd be very surprised if Alan gets more than 40% of
- 29:22the starts moving forward. You cannot justify putting a
- 29:26goalie on the bench who's making that much a year.
- 29:29Especially when he hasn't played poorly, right?
- 29:31He just. Got exactly, exactly.
- 29:33He's gonna get the crack at it. And I'd be very surprised if
- 29:36Alan's even A1B. It should be a one and two in
- 29:38Markstrom's. Favor and Alan is old, like I
- 29:40don't think he can handle like playing this amount of games in
- 29:44a row so. To be fair, Marshall's not
- 29:46young. Yeah.
- 29:49But Alan is all getting. Paid more?
- 29:51And less I'm talking out of my butt.
- 29:53Yeah. You gotta follow that money.
- 29:55It's actually they're the exact same age.
- 29:58So I took out of my butt this Really.
- 30:05Jake Owen has been like in the league forever.
- 30:07Yeah. It does feel that way.
- 30:09He's been the backup to so many other starters recently after
- 30:12being a starter for the majority of his career.
- 30:14So yeah, just like one of those things.
- 30:17Yeah, yeah, but anyways, Long story short, I would I would
- 30:19hold on to Alan to see what happens, but if you need to drop
- 30:22him, you'll probably end up dropping him in the next week or
- 30:24two. Alright, next one talking about
- 30:26goalie battles, we've got Sam Montalbo slash Yakub Dobish.
- 30:30So this is another interesting one.
- 30:31This is not the same vibe as the other one because there was no
- 30:33injury involved. This is just one goalie out
- 30:37playing the other and it's not the one you would expect, right?
- 30:39And the fact is the Habs are competing this year.
- 30:42I mean, they're tough in the division right now.
- 30:43It's really fun to watch as 1/2 fan, but but they can't mess
- 30:46around, right? They're not trying to, you know,
- 30:48make sure anyone's feelings are OK in the end.
- 30:50Also, I don't think either of these goalies are our goalie of
- 30:53the future. I think that's Jacob Fowler.
- 30:55So I don't think there's any real like, oh, we have to play
- 30:58this guy cause we're trying to develop him.
- 30:59Whatever. I think it's very much whoever's
- 31:01getting us the better stats is gonna get more starts.
- 31:04That being said, I don't think they're gonna let either of
- 31:06these guys become a full backup either.
- 31:09So I kind of view it right now as a 6040 in Dobish's favor, but
- 31:15I don't know what you guys think.
- 31:17Yeah, so this is not like the Markstrom Allen situation,
- 31:20right? The allegiance that they Devils
- 31:22have to Markstrom via contract, etcetera.
- 31:24It's a lot stronger than what the Habs have for Montalvo.
- 31:27That's what I think. Yes, Matthew is a bigger
- 31:29contract than Dobesh, but they're going to ride the hot
- 31:32hand and Dobesh is really a good goalie.
- 31:35Like the Habs are a good team and I think that they're going
- 31:38to give him the lion share of it.
- 31:40I mean, this week the Canadians played two games and Dobesh is
- 31:43going to start the Tuesday night.
- 31:46Yeah. So we'll see what happens with
- 31:48the Sunday, but yeah. I think the best has showed a
- 31:50lot of quality, though, in terms of like being reliable and also
- 31:54being able to perform. So I think he's earned a lot of
- 31:57trust from the team. But we saw an interview by like
- 32:00from Saint Louis, the coach basically say how like, yeah,
- 32:03like Monty isn't in the best in the best form right now, but
- 32:07he's still, he's still integral to the success of the team.
- 32:10Like he's done so much for us in the past and he will do so much
- 32:12for us in the future. Basically like doing what a good
- 32:15coach would do in like building up his clear and not throwing
- 32:17him aside just because he's going through a rough patch
- 32:19right now. Yeah.
- 32:20So that just tells me that eventually multiple will
- 32:22probably be the starter at some point this season.
- 32:24Again, whether that's in a week or in a few weeks, we don't
- 32:28know. But as of right now, let's go
- 32:29back to get more starts. Yeah.
- 32:33So all that to be said, let's say you're a Monbo Warner.
- 32:37Do you feel comfortable dropping him?
- 32:39Depends how deep your league is. Once again, I know that's the
- 32:41IT. I feel it with goalies, it's
- 32:43always situational, like if you're in the same situation.
- 32:45Where like would you rather Monsanto or a guy like Phildar
- 32:48right now? Volador.
- 32:51OK. So then I would say I'm pretty
- 32:52comfortable dropping Montana. What would I drop Montebello to
- 32:55pick up Lidar if I'm in a league where there's a lot of goalies?
- 33:01No, that's what I'm basically saying, OK?
- 33:04Or that there's not a lot of goalies.
- 33:06It's just hard to hold on to a guy who's gonna play zero games
- 33:08in a week. Yeah, right.
- 33:09There's a chance that multiple literally.
- 33:10If you're, if you're in the type of league that you know you can,
- 33:12if you drop Montebello, somebody else in your league scooping him
- 33:15up, I'm not dropping him. I feel that's a good way of
- 33:17putting it. Because if that's the case, that
- 33:20means the goalie is available on the waivers right now are first
- 33:23of all, not reliable for starts and also just like not good
- 33:26quality. So if multi is going to get
- 33:29picked up if you drop him, I would not drop.
- 33:31Him would you rather have on your roster Quantum Bell or
- 33:34Allen right now? I think I'd still rather have
- 33:37mountable. Yeah, agree.
- 33:39And then if there's. Available in your month.
- 33:42Yeah. And if there is available in
- 33:43your league, are you dropping Montebello for?
- 33:45Him. Yes, yes.
- 33:48OK, I mean, I fully agree. I just think we need to give the
- 33:51viewer some are some actionable things to do with the
- 33:53information we're. Doing I think that's a good way
- 33:55to put it because if I'm picking up Dobesh, even if multiple
- 33:58becomes a starter, I feel like it's good to the point where
- 34:01both of these guys are going to start games.
- 34:03Yeah. So worst case, Dobesh is like AJ
- 34:05Allen, who's on your waivers anyways, so.
- 34:07Yeah, yeah. And it's crazy because like, I,
- 34:12I mean, I think we all kind of predicted to have done really
- 34:13well this year, but I don't think any of us predicted
- 34:15multiple losing the starting job this early into the season.
- 34:18So a lot of people not getting burned by this.
- 34:20Yeah, it's. Just how good the push has been,
- 34:22that's. What?
- 34:23Yeah, next Hot Topic, Brayden Point.
- 34:27What is going on over there? He is severely underperforming.
- 34:32I think all of Tampa kind of has been, but they've kind of been
- 34:35turning it around. Their record doesn't show it,
- 34:37but Kucherov was out for awhile, not a while.
- 34:40He was out for like a week, but there's only been like 3 weeks
- 34:42of the season. So it feels like a lot of it.
- 34:44So personally I'm not worried at all about pointing to get back
- 34:48to what he does, and I think he's a great below.
- 34:50This happens to multiple guys during the season.
- 34:52Like I have Logan Cooley. I've been trying to flip him for
- 34:55Britain point unsuccessfully. That's really good offer.
- 35:00No, that's what I'm saying. Yeah.
- 35:01It was in a package too. And I thought the package was
- 35:03really, really, Yeah, good. So I'm surprised that that
- 35:05wasn't happening. Why is it great?
- 35:07That's a great actionable point for our viewers.
- 35:08If you have Logan Cooley try and flip him for points, that's a
- 35:11great buy. Low sell high.
- 35:12Yep, the Lightning have the least goals for in the Atlantic
- 35:16Division. Yeah, that's not going to stay
- 35:18the same. No.
- 35:19Yeah, and Brayden points a huge part of that team, so I'm not
- 35:22worried at all. It's a fantastic buy low.
- 35:25So yeah, I mean, I think in normal situations you can even
- 35:28give less than fully because he's been so bad.
- 35:30But there's certain guys in the league that no matter how bad
- 35:34they are, you're just never worried about them.
- 35:36And Britain points one of those guys he's tied to.
- 35:38He's tied to the Heart Trophy winner for the last two years.
- 35:43Two years, yeah. Exactly.
- 35:44He's he's going to be fine. Yeah, alright, Cutter Gautier,
- 35:48this is one that everyone's been talking about.
- 35:50He's been lighting it up not only in points, but his shot
- 35:53totals have been unreal. Is he the real deal?
- 35:56Is he a sell high? Is he a hold?
- 35:58I think he's the real deal and he's a sell high.
- 36:01Yeah, I. Agree.
- 36:02And this is coming from somebody who going into the season, I was
- 36:06not a cutter go to your fan. Like I honestly did not draft
- 36:08him anywhere and early in the season I was not a believer.
- 36:12I thought that this was just kind of just randomness
- 36:16happening, but enough randomness has happened that, you know,
- 36:19there's sample sizes there. Sample.
- 36:21The sample size is growing and we have to reevaluate our takes.
- 36:23And that's what you have to do when you're playing fantasy.
- 36:26You can't just be stuck on what you want to be, right?
- 36:30Yeah, exactly. So I would say.
- 36:31Shooting. I think he's gonna get points.
- 36:33I don't think he's gonna get them at this rate, but he's
- 36:35definitely a guy you're holding on your ass for the whole
- 36:37season. I will say one thing to note is
- 36:39that when Chris Kreider comes back, he was playing on line 1
- 36:42where Gautier currently is. I could see him getting that
- 36:45spot back. Obviously they've been killing
- 36:47it, so there's a chance he doesn't, but I think they really
- 36:49liked him there, so that's something to note.
- 36:52Gothier still should still keep power play 1 though, so that's
- 36:54going to bump off a Trano, not to not go to tier.
- 36:57So that's just one thing to note that might, you know, bring him
- 37:00down a little bit. Also the fact that he's
- 37:02performing like crazy is going to bring him down to just a
- 37:04normal level. That being said, like having
- 37:06said he's still a hold and sell high.
- 37:08Yeah, well, I don't know if like, I mean, they may just try
- 37:11to put him on the right wing or something cause I, I feel like.
- 37:15I'm not worried about actually. Yeah, I think whether it's line
- 37:17one or line 2, I think is gonna have the same amount.
- 37:20Of success. I just think it's worth noting
- 37:21that there's some big guy names out for the Ducks and it will
- 37:25reshuffle the lines somehow. That doesn't necessarily mean
- 37:28it's going to negatively affect him, but it is going to affect
- 37:30him in his deployment. Alright last hot topic that I
- 37:35feel we just then getting nonstop everywhere and it's
- 37:39probably my fault is doing Holloway.
- 37:43What is going on with Dylan Holloway?
- 37:44Josh told me all summer that he was gonna be great, and he
- 37:47started off super slow. And what do we do?
- 37:50I'm going. To speaking it up.
- 37:52He's picking it up. I would say don't panic.
- 37:54The entire Blues are feeling the Blues lately.
- 37:58Let's just say I kind of love that as a kind of indicator.
- 38:04When your guy is the only guy on the team, like when it's fetch
- 38:08right, who's just garbage and the rest of the team is killing
- 38:10it, that's something to worry about.
- 38:12But when it's a guy like Holloway who's not necessarily
- 38:15putting up points, but the whole team isn't, then I'm way less
- 38:17worried because then it's not just an individual player
- 38:20problem, it's a team problem. And yeah, exactly.
- 38:23And that needs to get solved. And it will get solved because
- 38:25no team stays that bad for the whole season.
- 38:27Even the worst team in the league will score goals, right?
- 38:30So and they should be the worst team in the league.
- 38:32All that to say, he was putting up the Bangor stats.
- 38:34Even one of the points weren't there which is great to see.
- 38:37The whole team was underperforming which is great
- 38:40to see. In terms of not being worried
- 38:41about him specifically and he's starting to pick it up.
- 38:44I think he's been a buy low since the season started.
- 38:46I've been trying to get him from Jakey but he won't give him to
- 38:48me and. Cider, yeah.
- 38:50Exactly, I just have to buy high on a guy who hasn't performed
- 38:53all season yet. But but yeah, anyways.
- 38:56So I'm not worried about the Holloway at all.
- 38:59And Holloway. Holloway as I like.
- 39:01Yeah, well, that's why I'm not selling them, because I believe
- 39:04in his. I don't even wanna call her
- 39:06resurgence because like, the floor has still been there.
- 39:08I'm not mad having him. He just hasn't been like
- 39:11producing in the points category.
- 39:13But his bangers have been sick. They're gonna continue being
- 39:15great and I'm just expecting positive regression for points,
- 39:18so I'm really happy. And look at the Blues lightning.
- 39:22Similar idea. Right, they're both blue.
- 39:26And they're due for positive regression, so they have a lot
- 39:30in common so. Yeah, I think we saw Holloway
- 39:33too, like there was some statistics showing that he was
- 39:36like one of the more unluckier players in terms of converting
- 39:38his higher chances. So I think we're seeing already
- 39:42in the last few games he's he's got on the stat sheet, his
- 39:46category coverage has been pretty, pretty decent for what
- 39:48you expected. I think there's better days
- 39:51ahead for Dan Holloway. I think we're right on the cusp
- 39:53of it kind of like turning in the right direction.
- 39:55Yeah, by now, as you're listening to this, if you
- 39:57haven't already, the Blues have only won three out of the first
- 39:59nine games. Like it's it's it hasn't been
- 40:01going well. Jackie had them for second in
- 40:03the. Division.
- 40:04I think. He's never gonna live this one
- 40:06down. He's doing.
- 40:07Up a little soon happens, guys. We'll see.
- 40:09It's still early. You're right, it's still early.
- 40:11This is still very early. We roasted him like all year
- 40:13last year about Boston and then out of nowhere they just dropped
- 40:15to the bottom of the standing. So anything can happen.
- 40:19Anything could happen, that's true, but the clock is always
- 40:22right twice a day. Yeah, exactly.
- 40:25Something like that. It's me.
- 40:26I'm the clock. All right, thank you to
