Speaker 1: Hey, this is Stephen Furtick.
• 0:06
Speaker 2: I'm the pastor of Elevation Church, and this is our podcast.
• 0:09
Speaker 2: Be sure to subscribe so we can get you these
• 0:11
Speaker 2: new sermons every week. Hope you're blessed today. You know,
• 0:20
Speaker 2: sometimes the miracle that you need is one modification away.
• 0:24
Speaker 2: So we say, I'm cooked, and God says, you're not cooked.
• 0:28
Speaker 2: You just need a correction. Do you know how many
• 0:31
Speaker 2: times you are just a little shift away from God
• 0:34
Speaker 2: doing something amazing in your life? I was so distracted
• 0:38
Speaker 2: by what I was struggling with. I did not see
• 0:41
Speaker 2: what God had already done. He says, I know your
• 0:44
Speaker 2: heart is breaking, and I know your nets are breaking.
• 0:47
Speaker 2: You are not cooked. You are called. You are chosen,
• 0:51
Speaker 2: and he's got you. I'm thankful to be back in
• 0:55
Speaker 2: this pulpit today, and I want to share with you
• 0:58
Speaker 2: a message from John chapter 21.
• 1:00
Speaker 1: And I'd like you to turn in your Bible.
• 1:02
Speaker 2: If you brought your Bible to John chapter 21, if
• 1:04
Speaker 2: you didn't, the scripture is going to come up on
• 1:05
Speaker 2: the screen. And this message comes from a story that
• 1:10
Speaker 2: is very familiar to our church. I have preached it
• 1:12
Speaker 2: many times, and yet there is a revelation that God
• 1:17
Speaker 2: gave me that I think will be so relevant. to
• 1:24
Speaker 2: our lives today. John, chapter 21. If you don't like
• 1:32
Speaker 2: who you're sitting next to, you have about 20 seconds
• 1:34
Speaker 2: to move around before I read this scripture. Ask the
• 1:39
Speaker 2: person next to you, are you a good partner? Because
• 1:44
Speaker 2: when Pastor Stephen preaches, I need somebody who's not scared
• 1:47
Speaker 2: to say amen. Come on, I need somebody who's not
• 1:50
Speaker 2: scrolling on Snapchat while he's preaching this word. I need
• 1:55
Speaker 2: somebody who's not just waiting to get to lunch. I
• 1:57
Speaker 2: need a word from God today. I have to make
• 2:00
Speaker 2: sure I'm on the right row.
• 2:03
  Speaker 1: Come on.
• 2:03
Speaker 2: Look up and down your row.
• 2:04
Speaker 1: Do a row check.
• 2:05
Speaker 2: Is there anybody who looks like they're barely breathing? I
• 2:08
Speaker 2: want all the fired-up Christians on your row. How are
• 2:11
Speaker 2: y'all doing back there, Legacy? Y'all ready for this word today?
• 2:15
  Speaker 3: All right.
• 2:18
Speaker 1: The Word of the Lord.
• 2:20
Speaker 2: John, chapter 21. I'm going to read up to verse
• 2:24
  Speaker 2: 8 for now. John, chapter 21, verses 1 through 8.
• 2:29
Speaker 2: See if you remember this Bible story. It says, Afterward,
• 2:33
Speaker 2: Jesus appeared again to his disciples by the Sea of Galilee.
• 2:38
Speaker 1: It happened this way.
• 2:40
Speaker 2: Simon Peter, Thomas, also known as Didymus … Yeah, if
• 2:45
Speaker 2: Didymus was my second name, I'd go by Thomas too.
• 2:49
Speaker 2: Nathaniel from Cana in Galilee. the sons of Zebedee, and
• 2:55
Speaker 2: two other disciples were together. They were together. They were confused,
• 3:01
Speaker 2: but they were together. They were torn, but they were together.
• 3:05
Speaker 2: They were in transition, but they were together. Tell your neighbor,
• 3:09
  Speaker 2: let's stick together. Let's stick together. Verse 3, I'm going
• 3:15
Speaker 2: out to fish, Simon Peter told them. Sounds more like
• 3:19
Speaker 2: Simon than Peter, you know. going back to his previous occupation.
• 3:25
Speaker 2: I'm going out to fish, Simon Peter told them, and
• 3:29
Speaker 2: they said, we'll go with you. So they went out
• 3:32
Speaker 2: and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
• 3:37
Speaker 2: Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but
• 3:39
Speaker 2: the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He
• 3:44
Speaker 2: called out to them, friends, haven't you any fish?
• 3:48
  Speaker 1: No, they answered.
• 3:51
Speaker 2: He said, throw your net on the right side of
• 3:54
Speaker 2: the boat and you will find some. When they did,
• 3:59
Speaker 2: when they did, when they did, not when they heard,
• 4:03
Speaker 2: when they did, not when they thought, when they, not
• 4:09
Speaker 2: when they argued, when they did, when they did, they
• 4:13
Speaker 2: were unable to haul the net in because of the
• 4:15
Speaker 2: large number of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus thought Loved.
• 4:21
Speaker 2: A little self-referential, isn't it, John? said to Peter, It
• 4:26
  Speaker 2: is the Lord!
• 4:26
Speaker 1: And he wrapped his outer.
• 4:29
Speaker 2: Or, excuse me, as soon as Simon Peter heard him say,
• 4:32
Speaker 2: It is the Lord, he wrapped his outer garment around him,
• 4:36
Speaker 2: for he had taken it off, and jumped into the water.
• 4:40
Speaker 2: The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net
• 4:44
Speaker 2: full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about.
• 4:49
Speaker 1: A hundred yards. That's the word of the Lord.
• 4:53
Speaker 2: Now, if I were preaching this message at the Methodist
• 4:55
Speaker 2: church where I grew up, I would call it.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: Something like faith to move forward through failure and frustration.
• 5:06
Speaker 2: I would give it a nice, dignified, self-explanatory title like that.
• 5:10
Speaker 2: But since I'm at elevation, since I'm back home, since
• 5:14
Speaker 2: I hadn't seen you in three weeks, I want.
• 5:17
Speaker 1: To call this message something different. I'm going to call
• 5:19
Speaker 1: it cook. Cooked. Cooked. Everybody say cooked.
• 5:29
Speaker 2: If you know what I'm talking about when I say cooked,
• 5:31
Speaker 2: wave at me. If you're pretending like you know what
• 5:34
Speaker 2: I'm talking about, but you kind of want me to clarify, wave.
• 5:38
Speaker 1: Y'all sit down. We'll talk about it. Cooked.
• 5:43
Speaker 2: It is a great honor and a great challenge to
• 5:47
Speaker 2: pastor such a diverse and broad body of believers. To
• 5:52
Speaker 2: know that some people in this room when I said
• 5:55
  Speaker 2: John 21, say, Yippee! I love John 21. I hope
• 6:02
Speaker 2: he gets to the part about the three different Greek
• 6:05
Speaker 2: words for love. Some people are looking around for John.
• 6:09
  Speaker 1: Who's John? Where's John? I love that.
• 6:12
Speaker 2: Diversity of biblical background, the diversity of cultural background. I
• 6:17
Speaker 2: love how some of you can't clap on rhythm, and
• 6:20
Speaker 2: you've been coming here nine years. but you're still trying
• 6:25
Speaker 2: and you keep coming. I love how our church is
• 6:29
Speaker 2: made up of some people who are going through the
• 6:32
Speaker 2: deepest valley of their life and some people who are
• 6:34
Speaker 2: standing on the highest mountain.
• 6:35
Speaker 1: I love all of that.
• 6:37
Speaker 2: I love how some of y'all are going gray with
• 6:41
Speaker 2: me and like me. Your hairline isn't as good as mine,
• 6:45
Speaker 2: but you're going gray with me. I love how at
• 6:49
Speaker 2: the same time I'm looking over here at about 100
• 6:51
Speaker 2: fired up students who love the Lord Jesus and are
• 6:54
Speaker 2: not afraid to mosh for the man on the middle cross.
• 6:59
Speaker 2: I almost got knocked over in the mosh pit when
• 7:03
Speaker 2: they came up here earlier.
• 7:04
Speaker 1: I was looking for security, man.
• 7:05
Speaker 2: I love that feeling of just on edge. Some of
• 7:10
Speaker 2: y'all don't know the book of Ruth from a baby Ruth,
• 7:12
Speaker 2: and that's all right.
• 7:12
  Speaker 1: Preacher jokes.
• 7:15
Speaker 2: I love how y'all laugh at preacher jokes, because some
• 7:17
Speaker 2: of you never heard them before. I love all of it,
• 7:19
Speaker 2: and so it's a challenge as well as a privilege,
• 7:21
Speaker 2: because When I say cooked, there are some of you
• 7:26
  Speaker 2: who know.
• 7:28
Speaker 1: Exactly what that means in a cultural sense.
• 7:32
Speaker 2: I'm explaining to you real quick, just in case, because
• 7:35
Speaker 2: I get this stuff from my kids.
• 7:36
Speaker 1: I heard my kids say, I'm cooked a couple of
• 7:38
Speaker 1: years ago. I was like, huh? There's kind of a line.
• 7:43
Speaker 2: When you hear your kids saying stuff when you have teenagers,
• 7:46
Speaker 2: it's like a line is what you can say that
• 7:49
Speaker 2: they say. that won't make them cringe. Sometimes I like
• 7:52
Speaker 2: to say their words to make them cringe. It's just
• 7:54
Speaker 2: a form of revenge for all the hell they put
• 7:56
  Speaker 2: me through.
• 7:57
Speaker 1: I first heard it from my son Elijah. He said,
• 8:03
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
• 8:05
Speaker 2: Now, if somebody says, you cooked, well, that's a good thing.
• 8:13
Speaker 2: If they say, you cooked, that means you did that.
• 8:19
Speaker 2: That means you That means when they.
• 8:22
Speaker 1: Say, you cooked, you cooked, that's a compliment, right? Like, ooh,
• 8:27
Speaker 1: they're looking at your outfit. Ooh, that's nice. You cooked
• 8:31
Speaker 1: with that. You say, thank you. You cooked.
• 8:36
Speaker 2: Or sometimes I'll show my kids a song that I
• 8:38
Speaker 2: just wrote, and I'll play them the demo, and they'll
• 8:41
Speaker 2: be like, ooh, y'all cooked today.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: I say, thank you. Yes, we did.
• 8:48
Speaker 2: We absolutely did. And even sometimes, you know, if you
• 8:52
Speaker 2: just do something that people just want to, like, gas
• 8:54
Speaker 2: you up a little bit, they'll be like, you cooked
• 8:57
Speaker 2: when you really did it, like, just to make you
• 8:58
  Speaker 2: feel better.
• 8:59
Speaker 1: But it's a compliment. You say, thank you. If, however,
• 9:04
Speaker 1: they say, you're cooked.
• 9:06
  Speaker 2: Uh-oh. Because you're cooked is a problem, not a compliment.
• 9:17
  Speaker 2: I know it's confusing because we're a multigenerational ministry, but
• 9:20
Speaker 2: you cooked, thank you. You're cooked, uh-oh. Two completely different things.
• 9:25
Speaker 1: Same word, but you just have to listen for the
• 9:27
  Speaker 1: nuance of it.
• 9:29
  Speaker 2: I'm cooked. I got a test in an hour I
• 9:32
  Speaker 2: didn't study. I'm cooked.
• 9:36
  Speaker 1: Pray about it.
• 9:36
Speaker 2: It don't matter. God is not listening to the prayers
• 9:39
  Speaker 2: of a sinner. I'm cooked. Oh, that's a cop. I'm
• 9:51
Speaker 2: going 87 miles an hour. It's because I was listening
• 9:55
Speaker 2: to Washed, but the cop isn't going to care that
• 9:57
  Speaker 2: I was full.
• 9:58
Speaker 1: Of the Holy Spirit.
• 9:59
  Speaker 2: I'm cooked.
• 10:02
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
• 10:03
Speaker 2: Oh, my mom knows I turned my location off. I'm cooked.
• 10:12
Speaker 1: I'm cooked. There's no way out of this. You may
• 10:18
Speaker 1: never say that. That might not be your word.
• 10:20
Speaker 2: Your word might not be as appropriate as cooked, but
• 10:23
Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying? It's just a word I heard,
• 10:26
Speaker 2: and I kind of latched onto it, because we all
• 10:28
Speaker 2: know what it feels like to come face to face
• 10:32
Speaker 2: with something where you realize, I have more responsibilities than
• 10:36
  Speaker 2: I have resources.
• 10:38
  Speaker 1: I'm I'm cooked. I'm cooked.
• 10:41
Speaker 2: I'm looking at my schedule for the next three weeks,
• 10:43
  Speaker 2: and I don't see a break, and I'm already exhausted,
• 10:46
Speaker 2: and I'm about to go into my busiest season.
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked. I'm cooked.
• 10:51
Speaker 2: So, if I'm introducing you to this term for the
• 10:53
Speaker 2: first time, then great, but no doubt you know the feeling.
• 10:57
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
• 10:59
Speaker 2: I'm never going to be able to get this problem
• 11:03
  Speaker 2: behind me.
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
• 11:05
Speaker 2: The doctor called me back and said it was important
• 11:07
Speaker 2: that I come in right away.
• 11:09
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
• 11:12
Speaker 2: It usually signifies that there's nothing I can do but
• 11:16
Speaker 2: to accept the consequence.
• 11:19
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked. I'm cooked. I wasted those years. Now I
• 11:24
  Speaker 1: can't get a job. I'm cooked. I knew my marriage
• 11:29
  Speaker 1: was in trouble.
• 11:30
Speaker 2: I think she's really going to leave me this time.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: I'm cooked. See how I went from stupid stuff like
• 11:37
Speaker 1: your homework … and your.
• 11:39
Speaker 2: Outfit to something so serious as I think it's too
• 11:44
Speaker 2: late for me to beat this addiction. I think it's
• 11:45
Speaker 2: just in me now. I think it was in my
• 11:47
Speaker 2: dad and his dad, and I'm cooked, and now I've
• 11:51
Speaker 2: run off all the people that helped me the first time.
• 11:54
Speaker 1: I'm cooked. Have you ever been cooked?
• 11:58
Speaker 2: I think it's safe to say that in John chapter 21,
• 12:02
Speaker 2: Simon Peter was cooked.
• 12:07
  Speaker 1: Think about it.
• 12:09
Speaker 2: Every aspect of this passage points not to the glorious
• 12:13
Speaker 2: resurrection of Jesus, which has already happened, but the lack
• 12:17
Speaker 2: of resolution in his own life, which he's still waiting for.
• 12:22
Speaker 2: The resurrection of Jesus was not resolution for Peter. Even
• 12:28
Speaker 2: though the finished work of the cross was done, the uncertain.
• 12:31
Speaker 1: Future of the disciple still loomed. He's cooked.
• 12:37
Speaker 2: He's cooked because He's ruined his reputation as a preacher,
• 12:42
Speaker 2: and he's given up his profession as a fisherman. We
• 12:45
Speaker 2: can tell he's out of practice because, as I read
• 12:48
Speaker 2: you in the text, he fished all night and.
• 12:50
Speaker 1: Caught nothing, cooked, frustrated, cooked a failure.
• 12:58
Speaker 2: Yet we see in the passage he's moving forward in
• 13:01
Speaker 2: faith through failure and frustration because he's cooked. But even
• 13:09
Speaker 2: though you feel cooked, there's usually something you can do.
• 13:14
Speaker 1: Am I right about it?
• 13:16
Speaker 2: I find all of this all-or-nothing thinking or this overgeneralization …
• 13:21
Speaker 2: I learned these words when I started going to therapy
• 13:24
Speaker 2: to help me with my own issues. Sometimes what we
• 13:28
Speaker 2: do is we slap a label on something, and once
• 13:33
Speaker 2: we call it over, we don't have to work on.
• 13:34
Speaker 1: It anymore because I'm cooked.
• 13:38
Speaker 2: There's no need in me getting my grade up in
• 13:41
Speaker 2: this class because I'm already cooked. There's no need on
• 13:46
Speaker 2: me eating broccoli tomorrow.
• 13:48
Speaker 1: Because I just ate Krispy Kreme today.
• 13:51
Speaker 2: Why would I eat cauliflower tomorrow when I'm already cooked
• 13:55
Speaker 2: from the Krispy Kreme today?
• 13:56
  Speaker 1: I'm already cooked.
• 13:57
Speaker 2: It kind of absolves you from the responsibility. Like, well,
• 14:00
Speaker 2: I already raised my voice. I ought to go ahead
• 14:03
Speaker 2: and do it at a black belt level now. Let
• 14:05
Speaker 2: me add some cuss words in here now, because I'm
• 14:07
Speaker 2: already cooked. Do you see how it can quickly become
• 14:10
Speaker 2: a fatalistic state of mind to say something like,' It' s over.
• 14:14
  Speaker 1: I'm done. It's cooked. It's too late.
• 14:16
  Speaker 2: I'm cooked.
• 14:17
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
• 14:18
Speaker 2: I want to challenge you from Peter's life that even
• 14:22
Speaker 2: when you feel cooked … Who am I preaching to?
• 14:25
Speaker 1: You don't say that. You don't say, I'm cooked.
• 14:28
Speaker 2: You're 63 years old, but you feel it in your bones.
• 14:32
Speaker 2: Too late now. Too old now. Too far gone now.
• 14:35
Speaker 2: Should have done it then. Would have done it then.
• 14:37
Speaker 2: Could have done it then. I'm cooked. They should have
• 14:39
Speaker 2: done it for me. He should have been there for me.
• 14:42
  Speaker 2: I'm cooked, and it's their fault. I'm cooked, and it's
• 14:43
Speaker 2: my fault. It doesn't matter whose fault it is. How
• 14:49
Speaker 2: may I move forward by faith right now is the
• 14:53
Speaker 2: question we came to ask today. Peter said something in
• 14:58
Speaker 2: verse 3. He said, I'm going fishing. Even though fishing
• 15:04
Speaker 2: isn't going to fix it, that's all I know to do. So,
• 15:09
Speaker 2: when you don't know what to do, do what you
• 15:12
Speaker 2: can do. You mean you drove all the way out
• 15:17
Speaker 2: here to hear me say something that simple? Yep. One
• 15:21
Speaker 2: time I was going through a little bit of a
• 15:23
Speaker 2: meltdown in my mind, and I called a friend to
• 15:27
Speaker 2: talk about all the issues. I was cooked and burned
• 15:30
Speaker 2: out and tired, and my friend said, Have you been
• 15:34
Speaker 2: outside today? I said, Have you been listening to anything
• 15:40
Speaker 2: I've told you? I did not call you as my
• 15:43
Speaker 2: activity consultant. I called you to give me some advice
• 15:47
Speaker 2: about all of my problems, which I have just listed
• 15:50
Speaker 2: for you. I have staff members quitting on me. I
• 15:53
Speaker 2: have church drama. At the time, we had buildings we
• 15:56
Speaker 2: had to pay for. I have seven Easter services.
• 16:00
Speaker 1: I'm about to preach. I'm cooked.
• 16:02
Speaker 2: They said, it's a beautiful day outside. Would you maybe
• 16:08
Speaker 2: want to take a walk while we talk? Something about serotonin.
• 16:15
Speaker 2: Something about sunshine. Something about that simple. You know how
• 16:20
Speaker 2: you get in your head, and Peter is all in
• 16:23
Speaker 2: his head, and he's cooked, and I denied Christ, and
• 16:27
  Speaker 2: I cursed by the fire, and I said I wasn't
• 16:29
Speaker 2: one of his disciples, and I said I wouldn't let
• 16:32
Speaker 2: him down, and I was the first to let him down,
• 16:35
Speaker 2: and I've seen that he's risen, and I've seen that
• 16:37
Speaker 2: he lives, but I'm lost. You can know that he
• 16:40
Speaker 2: lives and still feel lost. You can know that he's
• 16:44
Speaker 2: risen and still not have resolution. You can be in
• 16:47
Speaker 2: between even though you've seen him, even though you know him,
• 16:50
Speaker 2: even though you've touched him, even though he showed Thomas.
• 16:53
Speaker 2: Put your hand in the side. Put your hand in
• 16:55
Speaker 2: the holes. Even though you have had evidence of the
• 16:57
Speaker 2: presence of God, there can be a sense in your
• 17:00
Speaker 2: life where you feel paralyzed about what to do next.
• 17:02
Speaker 2: So Peter said, I know how to fish. Let me
• 17:07
Speaker 2: get out there and do what I know how to do.
• 17:10
Speaker 2: Not just fish, but let me fish on the same sea,
• 17:15
Speaker 2: the Sea of Galilee, where he found me and he
• 17:20
Speaker 2: called me. Somebody say, he called me. I want to
• 17:24
Speaker 2: divide this sermon into three points today. The first one
• 17:28
Speaker 2: is the call. I want to talk to you for
• 17:32
Speaker 2: a few moments today about the call, because the Sea
• 17:36
Speaker 2: of Galilee is not only where Peter.
• 17:38
Speaker 1: Went to fish after he failed Jesus.
• 17:41
Speaker 2: It was where he learned to follow Jesus to begin
• 17:43
Speaker 2: with in Luke, chapter 5, when Jesus said, let down
• 17:47
  Speaker 2: the nets for.
• 17:48
Speaker 1: A catch after he had taught all day from Peter's boat.
• 17:52
Speaker 2: So, Peter, fresh from his failure, deep in frustration, not
• 17:57
Speaker 2: knowing what's next, completely cooked from a human standpoint, says
• 18:01
Speaker 2: something so simple. I'm going back to the place where
• 18:05
Speaker 2: he called me. I'm going back to the place where
• 18:08
Speaker 2: he got on my boat. I know this is so simple,
• 18:12
Speaker 2: but sometimes when you feel cooked, you just need to
• 18:15
Speaker 2: come back. Come back to some simple things. Come back
• 18:20
Speaker 2: to what you know. Come back to, he loves me.
• 18:23
Speaker 2: Come back to, he died for me. Sometimes you make
• 18:25
Speaker 2: it too complicated. Sometimes you need God to show you
• 18:29
Speaker 2: three steps. Sometimes God only needs to give you one step.
• 18:33
Speaker 2: Praise me. Worship me. Glorify me. Speak the name of Jesus.
• 18:38
Speaker 2: Get around somebody who loves God like you love God. Oh,
• 18:43
Speaker 2: magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his
• 18:46
Speaker 2: name together. Peter said to his partners, I'm going fishing,
• 18:51
Speaker 2: and they said, I'm going with you, so ask your
• 18:53
Speaker 2: neighbor a question. Will you praise him with me? I'm
• 18:57
Speaker 2: going through some things right now, and I need somebody
• 19:00
Speaker 2: on my row right now who really knows what it's
• 19:03
Speaker 2: like when he's alive. but you're a little lost to
• 19:07
Speaker 2: come back to the place where he found you. Tell
• 19:12
Speaker 2: three people, I'm coming back. I'm coming back.
• 19:14
Speaker 1: I'm coming back. I'm coming back.
• 19:15
Speaker 2: I'm coming back. I'm coming back.
• 19:17
  Speaker 1: I'm coming back.
• 19:17
  Speaker 2: I don't know when I'll see him again, but I'm
• 19:19
Speaker 2: going back to the Sea of Galilee where he taught
• 19:21
Speaker 2: me how to obey him, where he said, let.
• 19:23
Speaker 1: Down the nets for a catch.
• 19:25
Speaker 2: Isn't it interesting that this miracle I read you resembles
• 19:28
Speaker 2: so closely the miracle that began Peter's ministry, and Jesus
• 19:32
Speaker 2: is bringing him full circle?
• 19:36
Speaker 1: Look at verse 5, y'all. He called out to them.
• 19:44
Speaker 1: Circle called, Justin. He called.
• 19:48
Speaker 4: Somebody say, I'm still called. Cooked, but I'm called. Confused,
• 20:02
Speaker 4: but I'm called. It's complicated, but I'm called.
• 20:07
Speaker 2: I'm back fishing for a minute. but when he went
• 20:12
Speaker 2: back to the place of his original call, the first love,
• 20:18
Speaker 2: the joy of my salvation, the place where I remember …
• 20:23
Speaker 2: I do this every time we go out on Elevation Nights.
• 20:26
Speaker 1: You can ask the boys. I come in, and we pray.
• 20:29
Speaker 2: Usually, I say, remembering your mind when you were a
• 20:33
Speaker 2: little boy, when you were a little girl, and you
• 20:36
Speaker 2: prayed that God would use you to lead people to
• 20:39
Speaker 2: worship him. Remember that as we go into the next
• 20:43
Speaker 2: few nights, because you're going to get tired, and there's
• 20:45
Speaker 2: going to be resistance, and there are going to be
• 20:48
Speaker 2: times where you're smelling his feet on the.
• 20:49
Speaker 1: Tour bus or whatever is happening.
• 20:52
Speaker 2: In order to have resilience, you need remembrance, the call.
• 21:01
Speaker 1: So, when he comes back to the place, Jesus, he
• 21:08
Speaker 1: called out to them. Check it out. It gets better.
• 21:12
Speaker 1: Not only did Jesus come to the sea and call
• 21:15
Speaker 1: on the sea, look what he called them. Friends. Would
• 21:23
Speaker 1: you have still called Peter your friend?
• 21:28
Speaker 2: Me and Jesus must have a different definition of friend,
• 21:33
Speaker 2: because my definition of friendship has to be kind of reciprocal.
• 21:37
Speaker 2: If they're beating me, scourging me, mocking me, and the
• 21:42
Speaker 2: best you can do is stand back by the fire
• 21:44
Speaker 2: and warm your hands like you don't.
• 21:47
Speaker 1: Know me, look at it again. He called out to them.
• 21:51
Speaker 1: I can think of some other words. Fools, don't you
• 21:58
  Speaker 1: have any fish?
• 22:00
Speaker 2: Because this is an opportunity for him to really shame
• 22:02
Speaker 2: them should he choose to. Shame is like that blanket
• 22:07
Speaker 2: that gets on you and starts reminding you of the
• 22:10
Speaker 2: fact that not only did you fail Jesus, but you
• 22:14
Speaker 2: can't even catch fish. How many have had a thought
• 22:17
Speaker 2: like that this week? Let me break this down, Pastor,
• 22:18
Speaker 2: a little bit. You can't even get this right. You
• 22:22
Speaker 2: can't even get the thing. Not only are you not
• 22:25
Speaker 2: succeeding in this area, you're not even getting that right.
• 22:28
Speaker 2: I am telling you, the longer I pastor, the more
• 22:32
Speaker 2: I am compelled by the compassion of Christ than the
• 22:36
Speaker 2: condemnation that has often been leveled against his people in
• 22:43
Speaker 2: order to create leverage for behavior modification that is not
• 22:46
  Speaker 2: grace-based change.
• 22:54
Speaker 1: He called out to them. I'm called. How do I
• 23:00
Speaker 1: continue when I'm cooked? Because I'm called. Because I'm called
• 23:06
  Speaker 1: when I'm cooked. Because I'm called when I'm consistent. I'm
• 23:10
Speaker 1: called when I'm sporadic.
• 23:13
Speaker 2: I'm called when I'm impulsive and crazy. And I'm called
• 23:20
Speaker 2: when my actions and my behaviors … I think we
• 23:24
Speaker 2: have a different idea of called than God. See, when
• 23:27
Speaker 2: God called Peter, he also called Simon. And he knew
• 23:35
Speaker 2: all about Simon when he called Peter. Peter wasn't even
• 23:39
Speaker 2: his name before Jesus met him. Can I preach about
• 23:42
Speaker 2: Jesus for a minute? This is a Christian church. And see,
• 23:46
Speaker 2: whatever Jesus calls it, that's what it is. So when
• 23:49
Speaker 2: Jesus called Peter rock, that's what he was, even though
• 23:53
Speaker 2: his failure was still in his future. And although Peter
• 23:58
Speaker 2: was shocked by his denial of Christ, Christ wasn't.
• 24:02
  Speaker 1: So I'm called. I'm called.
• 24:06
Speaker 2: I'm still called. God calls all of me. all of
• 24:11
Speaker 2: the parts of me. Do y'all hear me up there?
• 24:13
Speaker 2: God calls all of you, every part of you, not
• 24:17
Speaker 2: just the parts you think are presentable, not just in
• 24:20
Speaker 2: the seasons of your life when you feel the strongest,
• 24:23
Speaker 2: not just when you have everything together to present in
• 24:26
  Speaker 2: an impressive.
• 24:27
  Speaker 1: Portfolio for others.
• 24:28
Speaker 2: God calls all of you, even your mistakes. I know
• 24:33
Speaker 2: you can't handle this, because we think God is going
• 24:35
Speaker 2: to use us only in our maturity, but God has
• 24:39
Speaker 2: a process. by which he gets things ready. God will
• 24:43
Speaker 2: use every stage of your development if you embrace him
• 24:47
Speaker 2: by faith to release grace in your life to show you,
• 24:51
Speaker 2: I'm called. I'm his friend. I'm with him. Even when
• 24:55
Speaker 2: I wasn't with him, he was with me, and I'm
• 24:58
Speaker 2: called to do this. I can because I'm called. So
• 25:06
Speaker 2: he called out to them, Friends, haven't you any fish? No,
• 25:10
Speaker 2: they answered. But he doesn't only point to the problem.
• 25:14
Speaker 1: He points to the solution.
• 25:17
Speaker 2: Verse 6 says, throw your net on the right side
• 25:22
Speaker 2: of the boat, and you will find some. When they did,
• 25:25
Speaker 2: they weren't able to haul in the net because of
• 25:26
Speaker 2: the large number of fish. I want to talk to
• 25:27
Speaker 2: you secondly about the catch. There's the call, and then
• 25:36
Speaker 2: there's the catch. The great catch of fish. Later we
• 25:40
  Speaker 2: learned it.
• 25:40
  Speaker 1: Was 153 fish.
• 25:44
Speaker 2: You know, men like to count stuff, like their bench
• 25:46
Speaker 2: press number and their bank account. It's kind of crazy
• 25:52
Speaker 2: how from verse 5 to verse 6 something shifted that
• 25:56
  Speaker 2: was so monumental.
• 25:58
Speaker 1: Based on something so microscopic.
• 26:03
Speaker 2: You know, sometimes the miracle you need is one modification
• 26:07
Speaker 2: away Notice what he didn't say in verse 6. He
• 26:13
Speaker 2: didn't say, You're in the wrong sea. He didn't say,
• 26:18
Speaker 2: You're in the wrong sea. He said, You're on the
• 26:20
Speaker 2: wrong side. If I'm in the wrong sea, that means
• 26:27
Speaker 2: there are no fish here, but if I'm in the
• 26:30
Speaker 2: right sea and the wrong side, there's something so simple.
• 26:37
Speaker 1: They went from empty nets to full nets.
• 26:41
Speaker 2: But the problem with us is we want the catch
• 26:46
Speaker 2: without the correction. So, we say, I'm cooked, and God says,
• 26:55
  Speaker 2: you're not cooked.
• 26:56
Speaker 1: You just need a correction. Sometimes it's just a small correction.
• 27:02
Speaker 2: I'm cooked. I've got all of this anxiety in my life.
• 27:05
Speaker 2: You're not cooked. You just need one correction. See, you
• 27:09
Speaker 2: wake up every morning, and you start scrolling what other
• 27:12
  Speaker 2: people are saying.
• 27:12
Speaker 1: To start the day.
• 27:14
Speaker 2: One correction. You said, I woke up on the wrong
• 27:17
Speaker 2: side of the bed. When you throw your net on
• 27:19
Speaker 2: the right side of the boat and say, God, I'm
• 27:23
Speaker 2: starting my day with you. What do you say? What
• 27:26
Speaker 2: do you want? Before I check in with what's going
• 27:29
Speaker 2: on in the world, let me get within and meet
• 27:32
Speaker 2: up with my source and hook up with my God.
• 27:40
Speaker 2: Just a little shift. Do you know how many times
• 27:45
Speaker 2: you are just a little shift away from God doing
• 27:48
Speaker 2: something amazing in your life? There's a catch, and it's
• 27:51
Speaker 2: not in another sea.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: It's on another side of the same boat.
• 27:55
Speaker 2: Let me break this down plain. Some of you are
• 27:57
Speaker 2: married to the right person. You just need to start
• 27:59
Speaker 2: treating them the right way. Y'all want me to take
• 28:04
Speaker 2: three more weeks off, don't you? But I came back
• 28:08
Speaker 2: to tell somebody, you're in the right sea, baby. You're
• 28:12
Speaker 2: in the right sea. There are other fish on the
• 28:16
Speaker 2: other side. Oh, you could have a good family if
• 28:19
Speaker 2: you'd get grateful and stop nitpicking. You've got a good
• 28:23
Speaker 2: life if you'd start thanking the Lord for it. Isn't
• 28:28
Speaker 2: that good? I'm in the right seat. I just have
• 28:32
Speaker 2: to get on the right side. I just have to
• 28:35
  Speaker 2: approach this differently.
• 28:36
Speaker 1: I just have to come at it by grace.
• 28:40
Speaker 2: I'm going from an empty net to a full net.
• 28:52
Speaker 2: You're not cooked, but you're going to have to be corrected.
• 28:55
Speaker 2: You're going to have to do something different. You're going
• 28:57
Speaker 2: to have to be willing to adjust your attitude a
• 28:59
Speaker 2: little bit. You're going to have to be willing to admit,
• 29:02
Speaker 2: you know, I probably could have said that better. You're
• 29:05
Speaker 2: going to have to be willing to admit, you know what?
• 29:07
Speaker 2: I'm casting myself as the victim here.
• 29:09
Speaker 1: You know what? Y'all quiet.
• 29:13
Speaker 2: You know what? There's nothing wrong with the sea.
• 29:16
Speaker 1: It's the side I'm fishing on that has my nets empty.
• 29:23
Speaker 2: Do y'all want more on that, or do you want
• 29:24
Speaker 2: me to move on to point three?
• 29:28
Speaker 1: Point three is my sermon. Point one, edamame. But here
• 29:41
  Speaker 1: it comes.
• 29:43
Speaker 2: Because when I have preached this text historically, I have
• 29:48
Speaker 2: been so impressed by the catch of that just on.
• 29:52
Speaker 1: The other side of the boat. God is going to
• 29:55
Speaker 1: give you a blessing, and it's right there.
• 29:57
Speaker 2: God is going to bless you, and you're going to
• 29:59
Speaker 2: go from empty nets to sinking boats. I'm attracted to
• 30:03
Speaker 2: that kind of preaching and teaching, because I know God can.
• 30:06
Speaker 1: I've seen him do it.
• 30:07
Speaker 2: I've seen him do stuff. I've seen him change stuff
• 30:09
Speaker 2: just right on the spot. I've seen him switch.
• 30:12
Speaker 1: Stuff just right on the spot.
• 30:14
Speaker 2: I've seen him move things just in a moment, so
• 30:17
Speaker 2: I'm tempted to stop.
• 30:19
  Speaker 1: On the catch.
• 30:20
Speaker 2: But this sermon is not called catch. So I want
• 30:26
Speaker 2: to show you. What happened next. After they were hauling
• 30:31
Speaker 2: in heavy nets. After he called.
• 30:34
Speaker 1: And then he. And then he jumped in the water.
• 30:39
Speaker 1: And he swam toward.
• 30:40
  Speaker 2: The Lord.
• 30:41
Speaker 1: And verse 9 says something. Crazy. When they landed.
• 30:50
Speaker 2: They saw a fire of burning coals there with fish.
• 31:02
  Speaker 3: On it.
• 31:05
Speaker 1: And some bread. So wait a minute. Back up.
• 31:12
Speaker 2: We talked about the call. We talked about the catch.
• 31:18
Speaker 2: Let's talk about the coals. of burning fire that were
• 31:25
Speaker 2: on the shore so that after Peter swam to the
• 31:31
Speaker 2: shore half naked, put his clothes back on to jump
• 31:37
Speaker 2: in the water. You think God can't use you because
• 31:40
Speaker 2: you're crazy? That's the craziest thing I've ever heard in
• 31:43
Speaker 2: my life. After denying Christ, after fishing all night catching
• 31:49
Speaker 2: nothing … After being cooked by his own decision, cooked
• 31:53
Speaker 2: by his own inadequacy, cooked by his own impulsivity, cooked
• 31:57
Speaker 2: by his own desire for self-protection, after thinking it's over,
• 32:01
Speaker 2: and can God use me now? I'm hauling these heavy
• 32:04
Speaker 2: nets on the shore, and the boat's coming behind Peter.
• 32:08
Speaker 2: Peter is a leader who doesn't know where he's going.
• 32:11
Speaker 2: After all of this, he gets to the shore, and
• 32:15
Speaker 2: he sees a fire of burning coals there. with fish
• 32:22
Speaker 2: on it. So, you mean to tell me that what
• 32:28
Speaker 2: they were trying all night to catch, Jesus already cooked.
• 32:44
Speaker 2: You get excited about the catch, but I'm excited about
• 32:49
Speaker 2: the cook. I'm not here today because I'm so good
• 32:54
Speaker 2: at catching. I'm here today because he's so good at cooking.
• 33:01
Speaker 2: Here's my message in a sentence. Let him cook. He's
• 33:05
Speaker 2: good at it. Let him cook in your life. Let
• 33:08
Speaker 2: him cook in your family. Let him cook in this situation. Ooh,
• 33:16
Speaker 2: that got me fired up. No pun intended. I was
• 33:20
Speaker 2: so distracted by the fish in the net, I didn't
• 33:24
Speaker 2: see the fish that were already on the fire. I
• 33:28
Speaker 2: was so distracted by what I was struggling with, I
• 33:31
Speaker 2: did not see what God had already done. I was
• 33:35
Speaker 2: so distracted by how heavy the nets were, I didn't
• 33:39
Speaker 2: realize that the fish I've been looking for are already here,
• 33:44
Speaker 2: and he's got one on the fire with my name
• 33:47
Speaker 2: on it. Are you feeling this message? You thought I
• 33:54
Speaker 2: called this message cooked because you're cooked. I did not.
• 34:00
Speaker 2: I called this message cooked because he cooked after I
• 34:06
Speaker 2: was cooked. Jesus said to them, verse 10, I'm almost done.
• 34:17
Speaker 2: I'm almost finished, but I need us to get a
• 34:20
Speaker 2: little happier about the fact that he cooked.
• 34:23
Speaker 1: I don't think you understand this. Okay, so say it
• 34:26
  Speaker 1: like this.
• 34:26
  Speaker 2: You'll get it.
• 34:29
Speaker 1: Even when I'm cooked, he's cooking.
• 34:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like that, like that, like that.
• 34:36
Speaker 2: Even when I'm standing in a red sea nowhere to go,
• 34:39
Speaker 2: he's cooking. That water is what he wants to cook in.
• 34:43
Speaker 1: He's going to boil.
• 34:44
Speaker 2: My enemies in that water, because even when I'm cooked,
• 34:47
  Speaker 2: he's cooking. He's cooking. He's cooking. He's cooking. He's cooking.
• 34:51
Speaker 1: Reach around and tell seven people he's cooking.
• 34:53
  Speaker 2: He's cooking.
• 34:54
  Speaker 1: Come on.
• 34:54
  Speaker 2: I didn't make you tell 21.
• 34:55
  Speaker 1: Just seven.
• 34:56
  Speaker 2: He's cooking. He's cooking. He's cooking.
• 34:58
  Speaker 1: He's cooking. Don't quit. He's cooking.
• 35:00
  Speaker 2: Don't give up.
• 35:00
  Speaker 1: He's cooking.
• 35:01
Speaker 5: You have to let him cook. You have to stay
• 35:03
Speaker 5: out of the kitchen. You have to let the chef
• 35:05
Speaker 5: do what the chef does. You have to let him
• 35:07
Speaker 5: get all the Simon out so that Peter can preach
• 35:10
  Speaker 5: because he's cooking. I'm not praising because I cooked. I'm
• 35:14
Speaker 5: praising because he cooked.
• 35:17
Speaker 2: He kept … He led. He made a way. He
• 35:21
Speaker 2: did it. And no weapon that is formed against my
• 35:25
Speaker 2: family will prosper. Because my God, he caught. He caught.
• 35:34
  Speaker 1: He caught.
• 35:35
Speaker 2: You wonder why we're praising? Because he cooked. He cooked
• 35:39
Speaker 2: when we couldn't. He cooked when we were out. He
• 35:42
Speaker 2: cooked when the bills were due. He cooked when the
• 35:44
Speaker 2: doctors said no way. He cooked when I was lonely.
• 35:48
Speaker 2: He cooked when my friends walked away. He cooked. He cooked.
• 35:59
Speaker 2: He cooked. He cooked. He cooked. He cooked when they
• 36:03
Speaker 2: couldn't catch. He cooked when they did catch. He cooked.
• 36:06
Speaker 2: He's giving them a lot of credit.
• 36:08
Speaker 1: Look at verse 10.
• 36:09
Speaker 2: He said, Hey, boys. Hey, boys.
• 36:11
Speaker 1: Jesus is so nice. Jesus is so kind.
• 36:13
Speaker 2: He said, Bring some of the fish you have just caught.
• 36:17
Speaker 2: The ones you … Yeah. You caught them. You did
• 36:24
Speaker 2: that so good, baby. That drawing is amazing. I'm hanging
• 36:31
Speaker 2: on the refrigerator. Bring me some of your fish. I
• 36:34
Speaker 2: love your fish, baby. It's never been about what you
• 36:40
Speaker 2: can bring to him. Telling me, I'm cooked.
• 36:47
  Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
• 36:49
Speaker 2: You were cooked when you got here. In sin did
• 36:51
Speaker 2: my mother conceive me. All have sinned and fallen short
• 36:54
Speaker 2: of the glory of God. I'm cooked.
• 36:56
Speaker 1: What else is new?
• 36:57
Speaker 2: He's been cooking this whole time. Have you thought about
• 37:00
Speaker 2: the odds that your life would be where it is today?
• 37:03
Speaker 2: Have you thought about that lately? Have you thought about
• 37:06
Speaker 2: the fact that I'm up here preaching when you know
• 37:09
Speaker 2: what our family went through on the other side? Have
• 37:12
Speaker 2: you thought about the fact that God would let me
• 37:14
Speaker 2: be a preacher? Have you thought about that?
• 37:17
Speaker 1: Because he could. Have you thought about the fact that
• 37:24
Speaker 1: when I meet people who.
• 37:26
Speaker 2: Have been touched by the ministry of this church, they
• 37:29
Speaker 2: often say, it was in the year 2020 when I
• 37:36
Speaker 2: found your church online. I didn't think we were going
• 37:41
Speaker 2: to make it, but you tell the people of Elevation
• 37:45
Speaker 2: they got our family through. What's crazy about that is
• 37:50
Speaker 2: when they said, you can't have physical church, legally mandated,
• 37:54
Speaker 2: no people in the building. That's a bad church growth strategy.
• 37:59
Speaker 2: Can we all agree? Can we take a church vote?
• 38:03
Speaker 2: How many would say it's a bad strategy to not.
• 38:05
Speaker 1: Be able to allow people to attend? Then how did
• 38:07
Speaker 1: we grow? Because he cooked. Go ahead. Bring all your
• 38:19
Speaker 1: fish in. That's good, Peter. Yeah, bring me some of
• 38:22
  Speaker 1: your fish.
• 38:23
Speaker 2: But I read it over and over because I wanted
• 38:27
Speaker 2: to show you this revelation.
• 38:29
Speaker 1: So you can get all the stress out of your life.
• 38:32
Speaker 2: So you can get all of the shame off of you,
• 38:34
Speaker 2: so you can get all of the expectation for your
• 38:37
Speaker 2: future on Jesus, so you can remember that he called
• 38:40
Speaker 2: you friend, and he taught you to catch those fish,
• 38:44
Speaker 2: and he told you where they were.
• 38:45
  Speaker 4: Come on.
• 38:46
Speaker 2: He helped you find that person. He helped you find
• 38:49
Speaker 2: that opportunity. He helped you get through that transition. He
• 38:52
Speaker 2: helped you with that. I'm not here.
• 38:54
Speaker 1: Because of what I caught. I'm here because he cooked.
• 38:58
Speaker 2: And even when I bring it to him, he doesn't
• 39:03
Speaker 2: need it. Jesus said to them, verse 12, come and
• 39:07
Speaker 2: have breakfast. None of the disciples dared ask him, who
• 39:11
Speaker 2: are you? They knew it was the Lord.
• 39:13
  Speaker 1: Why?
• 39:14
Speaker 2: Because he's asking them to bring fish for a breakfast
• 39:16
Speaker 2: that he's already cooked. He doesn't need it. He just
• 39:19
Speaker 2: wants all you have. He calls all of you. That's
• 39:22
Speaker 2: all it's going to take, bro, is all of you.
• 39:25
Speaker 1: That's all it's going to take, sis, is all of you.
• 39:28
Speaker 2: You're not cooked. You just have to come. You have
• 39:31
Speaker 2: to come completely. You have to bring all 153 fish.
• 39:35
Speaker 2: When you get there, you discover the real miracle of
• 39:38
Speaker 2: the text is verse 13. Not Peter caught, but Jesus came,
• 39:46
Speaker 2: and he took the bread, and he gave it.
• 39:53
  Speaker 1: Grace.
• 39:56
  Speaker 6: It's grace.
• 39:59
Speaker 2: Fishing all night, that's effort.
• 40:03
  Speaker 1: That's good.
• 40:05
Speaker 2: But I see you straining, and I'm going to give
• 40:08
Speaker 2: you grace, because I've already cooked what you're trying to catch.
• 40:13
  Speaker 6: You're already accepted. You're already approved. You're already loved. You're
• 40:16
Speaker 6: already forgiven. You're already free. You see the difference? Even
• 40:22
Speaker 6: when you're cooked, there's usually something that you can do.
• 40:25
Speaker 6: But even when you can't, there's something he's already done.
• 40:29
  Speaker 1: He cooked.
• 40:33
Speaker 2: He came and took the bread and gave it to them.
• 40:35
Speaker 2: This reminds us of communion, doesn't it? Communion over coals.
• 40:41
  Speaker 2: Communion over coals.
• 40:44
Speaker 1: Something about those coals. He did the same with the fish.
• 40:49
Speaker 1: Something about those fish.
• 40:51
Speaker 2: 5,000 men plus women plus children. Something about that bread.
• 41:00
Speaker 2: This is my body broken for you. But there's something
• 41:03
Speaker 2: about those coals. Where have we seen Peter standing over
• 41:08
Speaker 2: coals before? Isn't it John 18? Standing in the courtyard
• 41:19
Speaker 2: on the night that Jesus was sentenced. The servant girl
• 41:24
Speaker 2: came out and asked him, you aren't one of this
• 41:28
Speaker 2: man's disciples too, are you?
• 41:31
Speaker 1: He replied, I'm not. It was cold. The servants and
• 41:36
Speaker 1: officials stood around a fire they had made to keep warm.
• 41:39
Speaker 2: Peter also was standing with them, warming himself over the coals.
• 41:44
Speaker 2: The word fire, anthrakia in Greek, it means coal fire.
• 41:53
Speaker 2: It's only mentioned twice in John's gospel. The first time,
• 41:59
Speaker 2: the fire represents Peter's failure. The next time he sees fire,
• 42:05
Speaker 2: there's fish on it.
• 42:09
Speaker 1: One is his failure.
• 42:11
Speaker 2: One is his future. Peter's cooked. Jesus cooked to let
• 42:22
Speaker 2: Peter know. I'm not done with you yet. I am
• 42:32
Speaker 2: not finished with you yet. You are more than a
• 42:36
Speaker 2: failed fisherman. You are more than a dysfunctional disciple. You
• 42:41
Speaker 2: are more than an alcoholic. Give me my camera. I'm
• 42:44
Speaker 2: prophesying to somebody on this Pando app. You are more
• 42:48
Speaker 2: than a convict. You are more than an addict. You
• 42:51
Speaker 2: are more than a mess-up. You are not cooked. You
• 42:55
Speaker 2: are called. You are chosen. You are drawn. You are his.
• 43:00
Speaker 2: You are his friend, and he has got you. So
• 43:08
Speaker 2: God says, I want to change how you see this
• 43:11
Speaker 2: fire in your mind. I want to change how you
• 43:13
Speaker 2: see what you've been going through. I want to change
• 43:15
Speaker 2: how you see what you did that you can't undo.
• 43:18
Speaker 2: I want you to change the way you've been saying it.
• 43:21
  Speaker 2: You've been saying, I'm cooked. I can't. I'm cooked. I can't.
• 43:25
Speaker 2: I want you to start.
• 43:26
Speaker 1: Seeing the fish that are already on the fire. It's
• 43:34
  Speaker 1: already there.
• 43:37
Speaker 2: You mean … We were straining all night with empty nets,
• 43:42
Speaker 2: and you were already frying on the shore what we
• 43:45
  Speaker 2: were hungry for?
• 43:47
Speaker 1: Let him cook. Let him have his way in your life.
• 43:53
Speaker 1: You say, well, how do.
• 43:54
Speaker 2: We know that Jesus gave them the fish he already had?
• 43:59
Speaker 2: Because you can't clean.
• 44:01
  Speaker 1: Fish that quickly.
• 44:03
Speaker 2: When Jesus feeds you, it's going to be a clean blessing.
• 44:08
Speaker 2: It's going to be a prepared blessing. It's going to
• 44:11
Speaker 2: be in his time, and he is going to use
• 44:15
Speaker 2: the very thing you did so that when you stand
• 44:19
Speaker 2: up like Peter on the day of Pentecost and preach,
• 44:23
Speaker 2: you're not up there because you can cook. You're up
• 44:27
Speaker 2: there because he can, and he did, and he will.
• 44:34
Speaker 2: I don't know who God gave me this message for,
• 44:38
  Speaker 2: but he's cooking.
• 44:39
  Speaker 1: He's cooking.
• 44:40
Speaker 2: Right now he is mixing ingredients, some bitter, some sweet,
• 44:45
Speaker 2: some tasty, some troubling, some that are desirable and some
• 44:50
  Speaker 2: that seem dysfunctional.
• 44:51
Speaker 3: But when he gets through with all of it, when
• 44:54
Speaker 3: God does what God does, he says, I know your
• 45:00
Speaker 3: heart is breaking and I.
• 45:02
Speaker 2: Know your nets are breaking, but come have breakfast. It's
• 45:06
Speaker 2: not that I came to him. It's that he came
• 45:10
Speaker 2: to me, and he cooked.
• 45:12
Speaker 1: So if you need.
• 45:13
Speaker 2: To come to him today, you can come. The work
• 45:16
Speaker 2: has been done. The blood has been shed. The price
• 45:19
Speaker 2: has been paid. The forgiveness has been granted. The cross
• 45:22
Speaker 2: is accomplished. The stone has been rolled. The tomb is empty,
• 45:27
Speaker 2: and the Savior is here. Stand to your feet. All
• 45:32
Speaker 2: over the auditorium, there are men and women who need to.
• 45:36
Speaker 1: Respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ today. Here's the bread.
• 45:49
Speaker 1: Eat it. Here's the fish. You have a future.
• 45:56
Speaker 2: God will not leave you paralyzed in your past.
• 46:01
Speaker 1: If you stay there, it will be your decision.
• 46:05
Speaker 2: That you did not swim to the shore. He was
• 46:08
Speaker 2: already there. It's already there. It's already there. It's not
• 46:14
Speaker 2: something you have to conjure. It's not something you have
• 46:16
  Speaker 2: to catch.
• 46:18
  Speaker 1: It's something he's already cooked.
• 46:20
Speaker 2: You know for your situation in your life exactly what
• 46:25
  Speaker 2: that is.
• 46:28
Speaker 1: I want us to do what Peter did. Move toward Jesus.
• 46:36
Speaker 2: Whatever that means for you, if that means giving your
• 46:40
Speaker 2: life to him for the first time, I don't know
• 46:43
  Speaker 2: your situation.
• 46:44
  Speaker 1: I don't know your failure. I don't know what you've
• 46:46
Speaker 1: been saying I'm cooked about, but.
• 46:49
Speaker 2: I know a name that is greater than whatever you
• 46:54
Speaker 2: can name. I know a name that's greater than shame.
• 46:58
  Speaker 2: I know a name that's greater than shackles. I know
• 47:02
  Speaker 2: a name that's greater than bankruptcy. I know a name
• 47:05
Speaker 2: that's greater than disease and depression. I know a name
• 47:09
Speaker 2: that's greater than generational curses. I know a name. Hey,
