Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville, Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Duval.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Daily, presented by GenJag.com.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Luda.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Wednesday, May 6th, right now we are talking at Drush.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: What else do we talk about here these days?
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody wants to know how the Jaguar is past rush is going to get the job done in 2026.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about they might just feel comfortable with what they have.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: They might feel like let's see some of these young guys
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: You've got, you know, rookie mini camp getting kicked off later this week.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: They might say, let's just see if we can get this done with the guys we have early on in the season and then make a trade.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: But if the Jack Wars do want to make a trade for Ed Rush specifically, I believe there are a number of players that could make
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: I also think as we've talked about their free agents out there that could make sense.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: When I'm thinking about the trades that the Jaguars could potentially make, when would that happen?
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I think probably heading into or right before or during the early part of training camp, if the Jags feel like the group behind
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: Travel Walker and and Josh Heinz Allen just maybe don't give us quite enough to feel like this is a Super Bowl caliber defensive front and I'm not saying that's going to be the case.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: I do really like Danny Strigo.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think Wesley Williams is a tough player as well that they drafted.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a fan of BJ Green.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: Zach Murphy obviously has a lot of explosiveness and had had a good production at Washington this past year.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: And they've got guys on the interior and now they feel pretty good about, you know, Eric Armstrong can rush the passer.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, they believe Rook can rush the passer, Dennis Gardeck, Jalen McCloud coming back.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: I like his tape at Auburn, but if they say, hey, we just don't have enough pass rush.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Three trades, I think the Jaguar's could make.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're gonna dive into right here.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, really appreciate y'all tuning in.

- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Jinghack.com, go check it out.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, get into these players.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think K-1-Tibito could make a lot of sense.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Alex Heismith or Nick Herbig could make a lot of sense.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think Virginia Noosu or Derek Hall could also make a lot of sense.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna talk about this.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: And these are not the only players that the Jaguar's could potentially trade for on the edge.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: But one thing I am looking for is crowded rooms, expiring contracts.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: If I was running a team, what I want to take on the expiring contract and give up draft capital, basically for what could be a rental, I don't know if that's what my personal strategy would be, maybe it would.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: But James Gladstone, it seems like that was his strategy at least last year when it came to making trades.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: Tim Patrick, expiring contract.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers, expiring contract, Greg Newsom, expiring contract.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Now, he did pick up one of those contracts.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: So it doesn't have to be a short-term rental necessarily, but it seems like the Jaguars when they are making a trade, based on what we've seen so far, through a little more than a calendar year of James Ladsson and company, that having the flexibility,
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: of potentially being able to sign this player or letting them walk seems like something the Jaguar has been interested in.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: And part of that calculus is exactly what happened with Greg Newsome.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, they made a trade for him.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: They decided not to bring him back.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: Now they're gonna get a compensatory pick back for Greg Newsome.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: They're projected to get a compensatory pick back for Greg Newsome.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: So you can trade for a player, give up a pick,
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: let them walk, if they get signed for enough money, then you get a compensatory pickback.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's not a bad formula.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: So like I get it, that makes a lot of sense.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: So cave on Tibodo, what would it take to land him?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know what it takes to land any of these guys.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: I do believe based on everything we've heard.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: over the last several months that he could definitely be had for the right price.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like the giants have an incredibly crowded room up front when it comes to these adressors.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: They just drafted our Valreys who, you know, hybrid, off-ball, on-ball, type of guy, they have Brian Burns.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: They dressed drafted out Bill Carter last year, like it would definitely make sense of their a team that would be willing to give up a cave on Tibito, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and you know, this is, I think, a player that the Jaguars, they're not going to want to sacrifice run defense.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think cave on table, it was a pretty dang good run defender who can also give you more pass rush than what you've seen out of the Jaguar's third edge, I mean, what?
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: Since 2021, it's been a while since the Jaguar's had a productive third edge from my pass rush standpoint, you know, ardent key to the city, right?
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I mean, I would be in on that at the right price and he's 25 years old.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: If he does equitum self-well, he's still probably not signing them because you have Josh Hines Allen and Traywell Walker on expensive contracts, but if he comes in here and balls out, you could get yourself a very nice compensatory pick in 2028 for a cave on tiptoe if he goes and signs somewhere else.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a really enticing part of this deal, and I think that that's absolutely part of why James Ladsson last year.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: went and traded for those guys we mentioned.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Tim Patrick probably weren't going to get a convict back for him, but the Greg Newsome, the Jacobi Myers trade.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think that was absolutely part of his thinking.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers quickly proved that he's a player.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: They did not want to let walk out that door, but I think for Cave on Tibito it would probably be more of a rental.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: uh... you talk about the two guys from the Pittsburgh Steelers they have been rumored to be available potentially via trade uh... her big and high smith high smith is more of that traditional edge player uh... that would fit like what the jackwars want in their defensive in slash outside linebacker three but her big he's
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to call, he doesn't play really super finesse, he's tough, right?
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: But he's 240 pounds.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: Could he do some of your same things as well, your Dennis Guardec things as well.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: If that were the case, could he potentially be somebody you don't want to just rent?
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: You want to have him play that spot long term.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Dennis Guardec is up there and age.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's dealt with a lot of injuries.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: her big's just a better player.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think that could make a lot of sense.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: But again, he could also be a rental where you get a nice compensatory pickback form.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: So you have, I think, a real nice sliding door where either way, you could be happy about that.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think with high Smith, it would definitely be more of a rental.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, her big soul may 24 years old.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty crazy.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: But high Smith, he's getting paid 17 million a year.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: So that's part of this.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like, do you want to take on that?
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars would have the ability to take on, you know, they could re-work it a little bit to make it fit how they want.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: But he's a tough player who plays the runner to extremely high level and rushes the passer at a high level.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: What are we talking about potentially giving up for these guys?
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Alex has missed 28 years old.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: Gonna be 29 in August.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be all over it.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be fired up for any of these trade options.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: And then you've got the two guys from Seattle I mentioned, between an OOSU and Derrick Hall.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: Derrick Hall.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: I just love the way he plays the game.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I have no clue.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like the first K-1 Tibito and then her big in the high smith.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: There's actually rumors in reporting that those guys could potentially be available.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't heard anything about the seahawks, but what I will say is they've got a lot of talent up front.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: They might be down to just, you know.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: get some value for these guys while they feel like they can, if they don't project them to be able to really help them in the config formula, or if they're not looking to play the config formula in the future.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: So, Derek Hall, just, I love him coming out.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mocked him to the Jaguar as quite a bit.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: He was just such a violent but smart player.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I would love to see him in Jacksonville personally.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: And then in a gentleman of Wosu, I think he has some of that coverage ability potentially to maybe also be like a Sam moving forward that Dennis Gardeck type role.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: I like all these options a lot.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: I also am not completely against saying, again, let's let these guys, the guys we have.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Let them prove to us that they're not the option.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then if we need to make a move.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Because, and somebody asked in the comments section yesterday, like, why do they need a third edge so bad?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: Look at what has happened to the past rush when they have not had the third edge.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: Look at what happened when they did.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: They had a great pass rush in 2021.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: They returned of Saxonville, right?
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: very opportunistic past rush down the stretch for them.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you were able to get that one more really good adressure, which I'm not saying it's not on the roster.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying we don't know yet, but I love Derrick Hall's game.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think Lieutenant O'Woe supervised a lot of talent as well.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars would be lucky to have any of these guys.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you try to for Derrick Hall,
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: That might be the most expensive guy out of all of them, I think you could potentially afford it though, because when I say expensive, I mean, trade capitalized again, if you let him walk after the season, you're probably talking about a nice comic pick.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: And that's again assuming the Jaguars want to be in on the comic pick game next year.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: They were highly in on this year, you know, Devon Lloyd, Travis ETN, Greg Newsom, they let them all walk so they could get convicts.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, not have to pay those salaries that they earned.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: But, yeah, all these different factors are kind of how things can affect it.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you could sit here and say, James Latsons definitely can make a trade.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: But if he's not trying to make a run at the conspic formula again next year, he might not have the same standpoint, same viewpoint as he did this upcoming year.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: We're just going to have to see how it kind of unfolds because I think if there's one thing, the Jaguar is like to do is to keep their opponents, the 31 other teams kind of on their toes, not expecting or not knowing what to expect from them.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: and it's not randomness for the sake of being random, but very strategic.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: So really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe y'all for good one.
