- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Ready for another tiny Norwegian lesson? Lucas: Absolutely. Today we're going to learn a really useful verb: 'å lage'. Luna: Å lage. That means 'to make' or 'to create', right? Lucas: Exactly. 'Å lage' is like 'to make' — you can make food, make a cake, make a movie. It's very common. Luna: Great. So how do I say 'I make'? Lucas: Jeg lager. Just drop the 'å' and add 'r' to the present tense. Jeg lager. Luna: Jeg lager. What's a good sentence? Lucas: Try 'Jeg lager mat' — I make food, or I'm cooking. Luna: Jeg lager mat. That sounds like 'I make food' — very practical. Lucas: Right. Now if you want to ask someone what they're making, you say 'Hva lager du?' Luna: Hva lager du? What are you making? Lucas: Perfect. Let's do a little scene. I'll ask you: Hva lager du, Luna? Luna: Hmm... Jeg lager en kake! I'm making a cake. Lucas: Oh, a cake! That's wonderful. 'Jeg lager en kake' — you're making a cake. Luna: Is that right? Jeg lager en kake. Lucas: Yes, exactly. Now another useful phrase: 'Kan du lage?' — Can you make? Luna: Kan du lage? Like, can you make dinner? Lucas: Exactly. 'Kan du lage middag?' — Can you make dinner? But we'll start with just 'Kan du lage?'. Luna: Kan du lage. I can imagine asking a friend that. Lucas: Let's practice the full set. Repeat after me: å lage. Luna: Å lage. Lucas: Jeg lager mat. Luna: Jeg lager mat. Lucas: Hva lager du? Luna: Hva lager du? Lucas: Kan du lage? Luna: Kan du lage? Lucas: Jeg lager en kake.
