  great

  for

  you
• 2:08
  today.
• 2:08
  I'm
• 2:09
  looking
• 2:09
  forward
• 2:09
  to
• 2:10
  talking
• 2:10
  about
• 2:10
  some
• 2:11
  stuff
• 2:11
  here
• 2:11
  for
• 2:11
  cabinetry.
• 2:13
  But
• 2:13
  first
• 2:13
  I
• 2:13
  wanted
• 2:14
  to
• 2:14
  talk
• 2:14
  real
• 2:14
  quick
• 2:14
  and
• 2:14
  we'
• 2:15
  talk
• 2:15
  about
• 2:15
  this
• 2:15
  more
• 2:15
  in
• 2:16
  a
• 2:16
  midweek
• 2:16
  special
• 2:16
  here
• 2:17
  one
• 2:17
  of
• 2:17
  these
• 2:17
  days.
• 2:17
  But
• 2:18
  I
• 2:18
  tell
• 2:18
  you
• 2:19
  what,
• 2:19
  I
• 2:19
  am
• 2:19
  not
• 2:20
  a
• 2:20
  fan
• 2:20
  of
• 2:21
  the
• 2:21
  new
• 2:21
  Extreme
• 2:22
  Home
• 2:22
  Makeover.
• 2:23
  I
• 2:23
  know
• 2:24
  you
• 2:24
  guys
• 2:24
  always
• 2:24
  ask
• 2:24
  me
• 2:25
  questions
• 2:25
  about
• 2:25
  the
• 2:25
  TV
• 2:26
  shows
• 2:26
  out
• 2:26
  there
• 2:26
  so
• 2:26
  I
• 2:26
  always
• 2:27
  take
• 2:27
  I
• 2:27
  couldn't
• 2:28
  stomach
• 2:28
  through
• 2:28
  it.
• 2:29
  It
• 2:29
  was
• 2:29
  just
• 2:30
  the
• 2:30
  other
• 2:30
  ones
• 2:31
  were
• 2:31
  bad
• 2:31
  enough.
• 2:31
  I'd
• 2:31
  been
• 2:32
  on
• 2:32
  the
• 2:32
  sites
• 2:32
  before
• 2:33
  I
• 2:33
  had
• 2:33
  volunteered.
• 2:34
  I
• 2:34
  had
• 2:35
  worked
• 2:35
  around
• 2:35
  on
• 2:36
  those
• 2:36
  and
• 2:36
  and
• 2:37
  been
• 2:37
  a
• 2:37
  part
• 2:37
  of
• 2:37
  it.
• 2:37
  I
• 2:38
  tell
• 2:38
  you
• 2:38
  what,
• 2:39
  this
• 2:39
  one
• 2:40
  was
• 2:40
  cringe
• 2:40
  worthy.
• 2:41
  So
• 2:41
  if
• 2:41
  you're
• 2:41
  looking
• 2:41
  for
• 2:42
  cringe
• 2:42
  worthy
• 2:43
  tv,
• 2:43
  check
• 2:44
  out
• 2:44
  I
• 2:44
  think
• 2:44
  it's
• 2:44
  on
• 2:45
  abc.
• 2:45
  Extreme
• 2:45
  Home
• 2:46
  Makeover.
• 2:47
  Not
• 2:47
  a
• 2:47
  fan
• 2:47
  at
• 2:47
  all.
• 2:48
  And
• 2:48
  building
• 2:48
  the
• 2:49
  house
• 2:49
  in
• 2:49
  seven
• 2:49
  days
• 2:50
  is
• 2:51
  not
• 2:51
  a
• 2:51
  good
• 2:51
  program.
• 2:52
  And
• 2:52
  quite
• 2:52
  frankly
• 2:53
  I
• 2:53
  think
• 2:53
  some
• 2:53
  of
• 2:53
  these
• 2:54
  people
• 2:54
  really
• 2:55
  end
• 2:55
  up
• 2:55
  losing
• 2:55
  their
• 2:56
  home
• 2:56
  at
• 2:56
  the
• 2:56
  end
• 2:56
  of
• 2:57
  this.
• 2:57
  The
• 2:57
  ones
• 2:57
  that
• 2:58
  I
• 2:58
  saw
• 2:59
  Everyone
• 3:00
  start
• 3:00
  doing
• 3:00
  some
• 3:00
  research.
• 3:01
  They
• 3:01
  all
• 3:01
  lost
• 3:01
  their
• 3:02
  homes
• 3:02
  because
• 3:02
  they
• 3:02
  ended
• 3:03
  up
• 3:03
  getting
• 3:03
  mortgages
• 3:03
  and
• 3:04
  couldn't
• 3:04
  afford
• 3:05
  to
• 3:06
  manage
• 3:07
  their
• 3:07
  money
• 3:07
  correctly
• 3:08
  when
• 3:08
  they
• 3:08
  got
• 3:08
  these
• 3:09
  new
• 3:09
  million
• 3:09
  dollar
• 3:09
  homes.
• 3:10
  And
• 3:10
  so
• 3:10
  it
• 3:11
  just
• 3:11
  went
• 3:11
  badly.
• 3:12
  So
• 3:12
  be
• 3:12
  careful,
• 3:12
  it's
• 3:13
  cringe
• 3:13
  worthy.
• 3:14
  Just
• 3:14
  a
• 3:14
  show
• 3:14
  that
• 3:15
  doesn't
• 3:15
  get
• 3:15
  my
• 3:15
  seal
• 3:16
  of
• 3:16
  approval.
• 3:17
  If
• 3:17
  today
• 3:17
  I
• 3:18
  wanted
• 3:18
  to
• 3:18
  talk
• 3:18
  about
• 3:19
  my
• 3:19
  top
• 3:20
  10
• 3:20
  things
• 3:21
  you
• 3:21
  should
• 3:21
  know
• 3:21
  before
• 3:22
  you
• 3:22
  sign
• 3:22
  on
• 3:23
  the
• 3:23
  dotted
• 3:23
  line
• 3:24
  on
• 3:24
  cabinetry.
• 3:25
  Whether
• 3:26
  it's
• 3:26
  a
• 3:26
  bathroom
• 3:26
  cabinet,
• 3:27
  whether
• 3:27
  it's
• 3:27
  kitchen,
• 3:28
  whether
• 3:29
  it's
• 3:29
  a
• 3:29
  laundry
• 3:29
  room,
• 3:30
  whether
• 3:30
  you're
• 3:30
  doing
• 3:30
  something
• 3:31
  in
• 3:31
  the
• 3:31
  garage,
• 3:31
  what
• 3:32
  are
• 3:32
  you
• 3:32
  doing
• 3:33
  with
• 3:33
  cabinetry?
• 3:34
  Here
• 3:34
  are
• 3:34
  my
• 3:35
  top
• 3:35
  10
• 3:35
  tips
• 3:36
  for
• 3:36
  you
• 3:36
  out
• 3:37
  there
• 3:37
  to
• 3:38
  ask
• 3:38
  these
• 3:38
  questions
• 3:39
  first
• 3:40
  so
• 3:40
  you
• 3:40
  know
• 3:40
  what's
• 3:41
  going
• 3:41
  on.
• 3:42
  Now,
• 3:42
  the
• 3:42
  first
• 3:42
  rule
• 3:43
  here,
• 3:43
  this
• 3:43
  is
• 3:43
  probably
• 3:44
  one
• 3:44
  of
• 3:44
  the
• 3:44
  most
• 3:44
  important
• 3:44
  ones,
• 3:45
  but
• 3:45
  it's
• 3:45
  something
• 3:46
  you
• 3:46
  have
• 3:46
  to
• 3:46
  understand
• 3:47
  when
• 3:47
  you're
• 3:47
  shopping
• 3:48
  cabinetry.
• 3:49
  So
• 3:49
  many
• 3:49
  people
• 3:50
  go,
• 3:50
  oh
• 3:50
  yes,
• 3:51
  I'm
• 3:51
  having
• 3:51
  custom
• 3:52
  cabinetry
• 3:52
  made
• 3:52
  for
• 3:53
  my
• 3:53
  home.
• 3:53
  It's
• 3:54
  so
• 3:54
  beautiful.
• 3:55
  And
• 3:55
  the
• 3:55
  sentence
• 3:56
  goes
• 3:56
  on
• 3:56
  and
• 3:57
  on.
• 3:57
  But
• 3:58
  the
• 3:58
  first
• 3:58
  thing
• 3:58
  to
• 3:58
  remember
• 3:59
  with
• 3:59
  cabinetry,
• 4:00
  it's
• 4:00
  the
• 4:00
  word
• 4:01
  custom
• 4:01
  means
• 4:02
  nothing
• 4:02
  except
• 4:03
  that
• 4:03
  they're
• 4:03
  building
• 4:03
  it
• 4:04
  for
• 4:04
  your
• 4:04
  project.
• 4:05
  It's
• 4:06
  not
• 4:06
  a
• 4:06
  stock
• 4:07
  cabinet
• 4:08
  or
• 4:08
  it's
• 4:08
  not
• 4:08
  semi
• 4:09
  custom,
• 4:09
  which
• 4:10
  means
• 4:10
  they're
• 4:10
  building
• 4:10
  it
• 4:11
  even
• 4:11
  though
• 4:11
  they're
• 4:11
  building
• 4:11
  it
• 4:12
  for
• 4:12
  your
• 4:12
  project.
• 4:13
  You
• 4:13
  can
• 4:13
  do
• 4:14
  some
• 4:14
  modifications
• 4:15
  too,
• 4:15
  but
• 4:15
  the
• 4:16
  word
• 4:16
  custom
• 4:16
  has
• 4:17
  zero
• 4:17
  to
• 4:18
  do
• 4:18
  with
• 4:18
  quality.
• 4:19
  And
• 4:20
  the
• 4:20
  worst
• 4:21
  cabinet
• 4:21
  jobs
• 4:22
  I've
• 4:22
  seen
• 4:22
  across
• 4:23
  the
• 4:23
  country
• 4:24
  are
• 4:24
  always
• 4:25
  custom
• 4:25
  because
• 4:26
  there
• 4:27
  is
• 4:27
  those
• 4:27
  designation.
• 4:28
  There
• 4:28
  is
• 4:28
  no
• 4:28
  designation
• 4:29
  for
• 4:29
  custom
• 4:30
  as
• 4:30
  far
• 4:31
  as
• 4:31
  quality.
• 4:31
  Usually
• 4:32
  custom
• 4:32
  means
• 4:32
  it's
• 4:32
  a
• 4:33
  guy
• 4:33
  in
• 4:34
  a
• 4:34
  garage
• 4:35
  and
• 4:35
  he's
• 4:36
  got
• 4:36
  a
• 4:36
  table
• 4:36
  saw
• 4:37
  and
• 4:38
  some
• 4:38
  basic
• 4:39
  tools
• 4:39
  and
• 4:39
  he's
• 4:39
  going
• 4:39
  to
• 4:39
  make
• 4:39
  some
• 4:40
  cabinets
• 4:40
  for
• 4:40
  you.
• 4:41
  Now,
• 4:41
  there
• 4:42
  are
• 4:42
  some
• 4:42
  high
• 4:43
  end,
• 4:43
  beautiful
• 4:44
  custom
• 4:44
  cabinet
• 4:44
  makers
• 4:45
  out
• 4:45
  there,
• 4:45
  and
• 4:45
  that's
• 4:45
  not
• 4:46
  what
• 4:46
  I'm
• 4:46
  talking
• 4:46
  about.
• 4:47
  But
• 4:47
  there
• 4:47
  are
• 4:48
  so
• 4:48
  many
• 4:48
  people
• 4:49
  out
• 4:49
  there
• 4:50
  that
• 4:50
  are
• 4:50
  little
• 4:51
  tiny
• 4:51
  custom
• 4:51
  cabinet
• 4:52
  shops
• 4:52
  that
• 4:53
  are
• 4:53
  using
• 4:53
  old
• 4:54
  technology,
• 4:54
  old
• 4:55
  styles.
• 4:56
  And
• 4:56
  that's
• 4:56
  what
• 4:56
  we're
• 4:56
  going
• 4:56
  to
• 4:56
  talk
• 4:57
  about
• 4:57
  in
• 4:57
  today's
• 4:57
  episode.
• 4:58
  So
• 4:59
  that
• 4:59
  way
• 4:59
  when
• 4:59
  you
• 4:59
  look
• 4:59
  at
• 5:00
  customers,
• 5:01
  you
• 5:01
  go,
• 5:01
  oh,
• 5:01
  I
• 5:01
  asked
• 5:02
  these
• 5:02
  other
• 5:02
  nine
• 5:02
  questions
• 5:03
  and
• 5:03
  now
• 5:03
  I
• 5:04
  know
• 5:04
  what
• 5:04
  I'm
• 5:04
  getting
• 5:05
  because
• 5:05
  that's
• 5:05
  one
• 5:05
  of
• 5:06
  the
• 5:06
  biggest
• 5:06
  problems
• 5:06
  we
• 5:07
  see
• 5:07
  out
• 5:07
  there
• 5:08
  when
• 5:08
  it
• 5:08
  comes
• 5:08
  to
• 5:09
  cabinetry.
• 5:10
  So
• 5:10
  just
• 5:10
  remember,
• 5:11
  custom
• 5:12
  means
• 5:13
  nothing
• 5:13
  as
• 5:14
  far
• 5:14
  as
• 5:14
  quality.
• 5:14
  It
• 5:15
  could
• 5:15
  be
• 5:15
  the
• 5:15
  worst
• 5:15
  thing
• 5:15
  in
• 5:15
  the
• 5:16
  world.
• 5:16
  And
• 5:17
  quite
• 5:17
  frankly,
• 5:18
  there's
• 5:18
  a
• 5:18
  lot
• 5:18
  of
• 5:18
  larger
• 5:19
  cabinet
• 5:19
  shops
• 5:19
  out
• 5:20
  there
• 5:20
  that
• 5:20
  are
• 5:21
  not
• 5:21
  quote
• 5:21
  unquote,
• 5:22
  custom
• 5:22
  cabinet
• 5:22
  shops
• 5:23
  that
• 5:24
  do
• 5:24
  better
• 5:24
  than
• 5:24
  some
• 5:25
  of
• 5:25
  the
• 5:25
  smaller
• 5:26
  cabinet
• 5:26
  shops
• 5:26
  out
• 5:26
  there.
• 5:27
  And
• 5:27
  listen
• 5:27
  to
• 5:27
  this
• 5:27
  episode.
• 5:28
  You'll
• 5:28
  understand
• 5:29
  why
• 5:30
  as
• 5:30
  we
• 5:30
  dive
• 5:30
  into
• 5:31
  this.
• 5:31
  So
• 5:32
  the
• 5:32
  next
• 5:32
  one
• 5:32
  on
• 5:33
  here,
• 5:33
  which
• 5:33
  is
• 5:34
  again
• 5:34
  another
• 5:34
  important
• 5:35
  one,
• 5:36
  the
• 5:36
  finish
• 5:36
  on
• 5:37
  your
• 5:37
  cabinetry
• 5:38
  is
• 5:38
  one
• 5:38
  of
• 5:38
  the
• 5:39
  most
• 5:39
  important
• 5:40
  things
• 5:41
  to
• 5:41
  consider.
• 5:42
  Now
• 5:43
  when
• 5:43
  I'm
• 5:43
  looking
• 5:43
  at
• 5:44
  cabinetry
• 5:44
  finish,
• 5:45
  whether
• 5:45
  it's
• 5:45
  a
• 5:45
  stain
• 5:46
  or
• 5:47
  a
• 5:47
  paint,
• 5:48
  when
• 5:48
  I
• 5:48
  hear
• 5:48
  the
• 5:48
  word
• 5:49
  lacquer,
• 5:49
  my
• 5:50
  hair
• 5:50
  stands
• 5:50
  up
• 5:51
  on
• 5:51
  end
• 5:52
  because
• 5:52
  there
• 5:52
  are
• 5:53
  so
• 5:53
  many
• 5:53
  better
• 5:53
  finishes.
• 5:55
  Now
• 5:55
  there's
• 5:55
  a
• 5:55
  little
• 5:55
  asterisk
• 5:56
  to
• 5:56
  this,
• 5:56
  we'll
• 5:56
  talk
• 5:56
  about
• 5:57
  in
• 5:57
  a
• 5:57
  minute,
• 5:58
  but
• 5:58
  lacquer
• 5:59
  is
• 5:59
  what
• 5:59
  you
• 5:59
  saw
• 5:59
  go
• 6:00
  on
• 6:00
  your
• 6:00
  1957
• 6:01
  Chevy
• 6:02
  coming
• 6:02
  out
• 6:02
  of
• 6:02
  the,
• 6:02
  the
• 6:03
  Chevrolet
• 6:03
  dealership
• 6:04
  in
• 6:04
  1957.
• 6:05
  Now
• 6:05
  if
• 6:05
  you
• 6:06
  remember
• 6:06
  in
• 6:06
  the
• 6:06
  50s,
• 6:07
  60s,
• 6:07
  70s
• 6:08
  into
• 6:09
  the
• 6:09
  80s
• 6:10
  Saturdays,
• 6:11
  what
• 6:11
  were
• 6:11
  people
• 6:11
  doing
• 6:11
  there
• 6:12
  out
• 6:12
  in
• 6:12
  the
• 6:12
  front
• 6:12
  yard
• 6:12
  waxing
• 6:13
  their
• 6:13
  car,
• 6:14
  Polishing,
• 6:15
  waxing
• 6:15
  and
• 6:15
  getting
• 6:16
  that
• 6:16
  lacquer
• 6:16
  to
• 6:16
  look
• 6:16
  good
• 6:17
  because
• 6:17
  you
• 6:17
  had
• 6:17
  to
• 6:17
  rub
• 6:17
  it
• 6:18
  out
• 6:18
  and
• 6:19
  make
• 6:19
  it
• 6:19
  look
• 6:19
  good
• 6:20
  with
• 6:20
  some
• 6:21
  wax
• 6:21
  to
• 6:21
  protect
• 6:21
  it.
• 6:22
  It's
• 6:22
  no
• 6:22
  different
• 6:23
  when
• 6:23
  you're
• 6:23
  looking
• 6:23
  at
• 6:24
  lacquer
• 6:25
  on
• 6:25
  wood
• 6:25
  cabinetry.
• 6:26
  Now
• 6:27
  the
• 6:27
  exception
• 6:27
  here
• 6:28
  is
• 6:28
  when
• 6:28
  you're
• 6:28
  doing
• 6:29
  like
• 6:29
  the
• 6:29
  sanded
• 6:31
  high
• 6:31
  gloss
• 6:32
  contemporary,
• 6:33
  22
• 6:34
  coats
• 6:34
  of
• 6:34
  hand
• 6:35
  gloss
• 6:35
  lacquer.
• 6:36
  I
• 6:36
  get
• 6:37
  that
• 6:37
  you're
• 6:37
  trying
• 6:38
  to
• 6:38
  do
• 6:38
  that
• 6:38
  super
• 6:38
  contemporary
• 6:39
  with
• 6:39
  an
• 6:39
  old
• 6:40
  style
• 6:40
  with
• 6:41
  that.
• 6:41
  I
• 6:41
  get
• 6:42
  that's
• 6:42
  not
• 6:42
  what
• 6:42
  I'm
• 6:42
  talking
• 6:42
  about
• 6:43
  here.
• 6:43
  I'm
• 6:43
  talking
• 6:43
  about
• 6:43
  your
• 6:43
  painted
• 6:44
  shaker
• 6:44
  that
• 6:44
  they
• 6:44
  painted
• 6:45
  it
• 6:45
  with
• 6:45
  a
• 6:45
  lacquer.
• 6:46
  I'm
• 6:46
  talking
• 6:46
  about
• 6:47
  the
• 6:47
  maple
• 6:48
  cabinets
• 6:48
  that
• 6:48
  they
• 6:49
  stained
• 6:49
  a
• 6:50
  little
• 6:50
  darker
• 6:50
  and
• 6:50
  put
• 6:51
  a
• 6:51
  maple
• 6:51
  over
• 6:51
  that
• 6:52
  maple
• 6:52
  and
• 6:52
  put
• 6:52
  a
• 6:52
  top
• 6:53
  coat
• 6:53
  over
• 6:53
  the
• 6:53
  top
• 6:53
  fit
• 6:54
  using
• 6:54
  clear
• 6:55
  lacquer.
• 6:56
  Those
• 6:56
  just
• 6:57
  don't
• 6:57
  hold
• 6:57
  up.
• 6:58
  And
• 6:58
  especially
• 6:58
  on
• 6:59
  woods
• 6:59
  like
• 6:59
  maple
• 7:00
  that
• 7:00
  are
• 7:00
  hard
• 7:00
  and
• 7:00
  non
• 7:01
  porous.
• 7:01
  Many
• 7:02
  times
• 7:02
  you
• 7:02
  around
• 7:02
  the
• 7:03
  kitchen
• 7:03
  sink
• 7:03
  when
• 7:03
  you
• 7:03
  see
• 7:04
  lacquers,
• 7:04
  you'll
• 7:04
  see
• 7:04
  the
• 7:05
  finish
• 7:05
  peeling
• 7:05
  off.
• 7:06
  You'll
• 7:06
  see
• 7:07
  just
• 7:07
  from
• 7:07
  moisture
• 7:09
  that
• 7:09
  lacquer
• 7:09
  coming
• 7:10
  off
• 7:10
  the
• 7:10
  stained
• 7:11
  finish
• 7:11
  down
• 7:11
  below.
• 7:12
  So
• 7:12
  that's
• 7:12
  definitely
• 7:12
  one
• 7:13
  of
• 7:13
  those
• 7:13
  things
• 7:13
  you,
• 7:13
  when
• 7:13
  you
• 7:14
  look
• 7:14
  at
• 7:14
  it,
• 7:14
  you
• 7:14
  go,
• 7:14
  man,
• 7:15
  okay,
• 7:15
  lacquer,
• 7:16
  stay
• 7:16
  away
• 7:16
  from
• 7:16
  that.
• 7:17
  I'd
• 7:17
  much
• 7:17
  rather
• 7:18
  see
• 7:18
  something
• 7:18
  that's
• 7:19
  been
• 7:19
  on
• 7:19
  cabinetry
• 7:19
  for
• 7:20
  20
• 7:20
  years,
• 7:20
  20
• 7:21
  plus
• 7:21
  years
• 7:21
  out
• 7:21
  there.
• 7:21
  Conversion
• 7:22
  varnish.
• 7:23
  That's
• 7:23
  a
• 7:23
  two
• 7:23
  part
• 7:24
  conversion
• 7:24
  varnish.
• 7:25
  So
• 7:25
  when
• 7:25
  they
• 7:25
  mix
• 7:26
  the
• 7:26
  hardener
• 7:26
  with
• 7:27
  the
• 7:27
  product,
• 7:27
  it
• 7:28
  sets
• 7:28
  up
• 7:29
  many
• 7:29
  times
• 7:29
  that
• 7:29
  will
• 7:30
  be
• 7:30
  in
• 7:31
  a
• 7:31
  larger
• 7:32
  factory
• 7:32
  area.
• 7:33
  They're
• 7:33
  going
• 7:33
  to
• 7:33
  actually
• 7:33
  have
• 7:34
  an
• 7:34
  oven
• 7:35
  that
• 7:35
  bakes
• 7:35
  it
• 7:36
  or
• 7:36
  UV
• 7:36
  cures
• 7:37
  it.
• 7:37
  That's
• 7:38
  one
• 7:38
  way
• 7:38
  to
• 7:38
  do
• 7:38
  it.
• 7:39
  Another
• 7:39
  way
• 7:40
  is
• 7:40
  there
• 7:40
  are
• 7:41
  some
• 7:41
  urethane
• 7:42
  finishes
• 7:42
  out
• 7:43
  there
• 7:43
  that
• 7:43
  are
• 7:44
  new,
• 7:44
  that
• 7:44
  are
• 7:44
  water
• 7:45
  based.
• 7:45
  And
• 7:45
  I
• 7:45
  tell
• 7:45
  you
• 7:45
  what,
• 7:45
  the
• 7:45
  new
• 7:46
  water
• 7:46
  based
• 7:46
  finishes
• 7:47
  are
• 7:47
  really
• 7:47
  nice.
• 7:47
  They've
• 7:48
  Done
• 7:48
  a
• 7:48
  great
• 7:48
  job
• 7:49
  15
• 7:49
  years
• 7:49
  ago.
• 7:50
  They
• 7:50
  looked
• 7:50
  a
• 7:50
  little
• 7:50
  milky.
• 7:51
  They
• 7:51
  weren't
• 7:52
  that
• 7:52
  great.
• 7:52
  They
• 7:52
  have
• 7:53
  really
• 7:53
  come
• 7:53
  a
• 7:53
  long
• 7:54
  way.
• 7:54
  And
• 7:54
  I
• 7:54
  would
• 7:55
  much
• 7:55
  rather
• 7:55
  have
• 7:56
  a
• 7:56
  newer
• 7:57
  water
• 7:57
  based
• 7:57
  finish
• 7:58
  than
• 7:58
  an
• 7:58
  old
• 7:58
  lacquer
• 7:59
  one
• 7:59
  because
• 7:59
  the
• 8:00
  lacquer
• 8:00
  just
• 8:00
  doesn't
• 8:01
  hold
• 8:01
  up.
• 8:01
  It's
• 8:02
  too
• 8:02
  soft.
• 8:02
  It
• 8:03
  checks.
• 8:04
  It
• 8:04
  just
• 8:04
  doesn't
• 8:04
  hold
• 8:05
  up
• 8:05
  to
• 8:05
  wood
• 8:05
  that's
• 8:05
  moving
• 8:06
  around
• 8:06
  all
• 8:06
  the
• 8:06
  time.
• 8:07
  It
• 8:07
  was
• 8:07
  hard
• 8:08
  enough
• 8:08
  to
• 8:08
  keep
• 8:08
  a
• 8:08
  good
• 8:08
  looking
• 8:09
  on.
• 8:09
  On
• 8:09
  metal
• 8:10
  that
• 8:10
  doesn't
• 8:10
  move
• 8:10
  near
• 8:11
  as
• 8:11
  much.
• 8:11
  That
• 8:12
  as
• 8:12
  soon
• 8:12
  as
• 8:12
  you
• 8:12
  get
• 8:12
  that
• 8:12
  around
• 8:13
  wood
• 8:13
  and
• 8:13
  moisture
• 8:14
  that
• 8:15
  goes
• 8:15
  sideways.
• 8:16
  So
• 8:17
  take
• 8:17
  a
• 8:17
  look
• 8:17
  at
• 8:17
  the
• 8:17
  finish
• 8:18
  of
• 8:18
  what's
• 8:18
  going
• 8:19
  on
• 8:19
  and
• 8:19
  ask
• 8:19
  those
• 8:20
  questions.
• 8:21
  If
• 8:21
  it's
• 8:21
  lacquer,
• 8:22
  I
• 8:22
  walk
• 8:23
  away.
• 8:23
  Just
• 8:24
  I
• 8:24
  don't
• 8:24
  think
• 8:24
  it's
• 8:24
  a
• 8:24
  quality
• 8:25
  material.
• 8:25
  And
• 8:26
  that's
• 8:26
  a
• 8:26
  big
• 8:26
  one
• 8:27
  right
• 8:27
  there.
• 8:27
  And
• 8:28
  we're
• 8:28
  going
• 8:28
  to
• 8:28
  talk
• 8:28
  a
• 8:29
  little
• 8:29
  bit
• 8:29
  more
• 8:29
  finish
• 8:30
  on
• 8:30
  this
• 8:30
  when
• 8:31
  we
• 8:31
  get
• 8:31
  later
• 8:31
  on
• 8:31
  in
• 8:32
  the
• 8:32
  episode
• 8:32
  because
• 8:32
  our
• 8:33
  last
• 8:33
  one
• 8:33
  here
• 8:33
  has
• 8:33
  got
• 8:33
  some
• 8:34
  more
• 8:34
  finished
• 8:34
  stuff
• 8:34
  on
• 8:34
  it.
• 8:35
  But
• 8:35
  just
• 8:35
  what
• 8:36
  I
• 8:36
  want
• 8:36
  to
• 8:36
  talk
• 8:36
  about,
• 8:36
  this
• 8:36
  one
• 8:37
  here,
• 8:37
  making
• 8:37
  sure
• 8:38
  that
• 8:39
  you've
• 8:39
  got
• 8:39
  this
• 8:39
  dialed
• 8:40
  in
• 8:40
  on
• 8:40
  the
• 8:40
  finish
• 8:41
  and
• 8:41
  knowing
• 8:41
  what's
• 8:42
  going
• 8:42
  on
• 8:42
  there.
• 8:42
  And
• 8:43
  it's
• 8:43
  depending
• 8:43
  on
• 8:44
  the
• 8:44
  woods.
• 8:44
  Some
• 8:44
  people
• 8:45
  will
• 8:45
  go,
• 8:45
  hey,
• 8:45
  I'm
• 8:45
  gonna
• 8:46
  do
• 8:46
  a,
• 8:46
  I'm
• 8:47
  gonna
• 8:47
  do
• 8:47
  a
• 8:47
  white
• 8:47
  oak
• 8:48
  with
• 8:48
  a,
• 8:49
  with
• 8:49
  just
• 8:49
  a
• 8:50
  clear
• 8:50
  finish
• 8:50
  over
• 8:50
  the
• 8:51
  top.
• 8:51
  Great.
• 8:52
  A
• 8:52
  good
• 8:52
  cabinet
• 8:53
  company
• 8:53
  uses
• 8:54
  finishes
• 8:55
  that
• 8:56
  are
• 8:56
  great
• 8:56
  examples.
• 8:57
  Sherwin
• 8:57
  Williams,
• 8:58
  they
• 8:58
  have
• 8:58
  a
• 8:58
  commercial
• 8:59
  finish
• 9:00
  division
• 9:00
  for
• 9:01
  water
• 9:01
  based,
• 9:01
  for
• 9:02
  their
• 9:02
  chemical
• 9:03
  based.
• 9:03
  That's
• 9:04
  not
• 9:04
  a
• 9:04
  water
• 9:04
  based
• 9:04
  but
• 9:05
  more
• 9:05
  their
• 9:05
  oil
• 9:05
  type
• 9:05
  based
• 9:06
  finishes
• 9:07
  which
• 9:07
  are
• 9:07
  more
• 9:07
  of
• 9:07
  a.
• 9:08
  They
• 9:08
  take
• 9:08
  thinners
• 9:08
  and
• 9:09
  things
• 9:09
  like
• 9:09
  that
• 9:09
  to
• 9:09
  clean
• 9:10
  up.
• 9:10
  But
• 9:11
  really
• 9:11
  those
• 9:12
  non
• 9:12
  water
• 9:13
  based
• 9:13
  finishes,
• 9:13
  those
• 9:14
  all
• 9:14
  go
• 9:14
  through
• 9:14
  the
• 9:14
  commercial.
• 9:15
  So
• 9:15
  those
• 9:15
  guys
• 9:15
  don't
• 9:15
  typically
• 9:16
  get
• 9:16
  their
• 9:16
  finish
• 9:17
  through
• 9:18
  what
• 9:18
  I
• 9:18
  would
• 9:18
  call
• 9:18
  a
• 9:18
  paint
• 9:19
  store.
• 9:19
  And
• 9:20
  so
• 9:20
  really
• 9:20
  cabinet
• 9:21
  people
• 9:21
  work
• 9:21
  with
• 9:22
  their
• 9:22
  finish
• 9:23
  reps
• 9:23
  and
• 9:24
  they
• 9:24
  drop
• 9:24
  off
• 9:25
  5
• 9:25
  gallon
• 9:26
  to
• 9:26
  50
• 9:26
  gallon
• 9:26
  buckets
• 9:27
  of
• 9:27
  this
• 9:28
  stuff.
• 9:28
  And
• 9:29
  that's
• 9:29
  what's
• 9:29
  going
• 9:29
  on
• 9:29
  your
• 9:29
  cabinets.
• 9:30
  If
• 9:31
  your
• 9:31
  cabinet
• 9:32
  person
• 9:32
  is
• 9:32
  going
• 9:32
  down
• 9:33
  and
• 9:33
  grabbing
• 9:33
  stuff
• 9:33
  off
• 9:33
  the
• 9:34
  paint
• 9:34
  store
• 9:34
  shelves,
• 9:35
  you're
• 9:35
  making
• 9:36
  me
• 9:36
  really
• 9:36
  nervous
• 9:36
  because
• 9:37
  that
• 9:37
  finish
• 9:37
  is
• 9:37
  not
• 9:38
  going
• 9:38
  to
• 9:38
  be
• 9:38
  what
• 9:38
  you
• 9:38
  expect.
• 9:39
  And
• 9:39
  a
• 9:39
  lot
• 9:40
  of
• 9:40
  people
• 9:40
  expect
• 9:40
  a
• 9:40
  really
• 9:41
  nice
• 9:41
  finish
• 9:42
  and
• 9:42
  that
• 9:42
  can
• 9:42
  be
• 9:42
  really
• 9:43
  tough.
• 9:43
  I
• 9:44
  have
• 9:44
  seen
• 9:44
  painters
• 9:45
  come
• 9:45
  in
• 9:45
  and
• 9:45
  paint
• 9:46
  kitchen
• 9:46
  cabinets
• 9:47
  and
• 9:47
  they
• 9:47
  looked
• 9:48
  beautiful.
• 9:49
  I've
• 9:49
  also
• 9:50
  seen
• 9:50
  them
• 9:50
  come
• 9:50
  in
• 9:51
  and
• 9:51
  they
• 9:51
  don't
• 9:51
  know
• 9:51
  what
• 9:51
  they're
• 9:52
  doing.
• 9:52
  They
• 9:52
  caulk
• 9:52
  all
• 9:53
  the
• 9:53
  doors,
• 9:53
  all
• 9:53
  the
• 9:53
  gaps
• 9:54
  on
• 9:54
  that
• 9:55
  and
• 9:55
  then
• 9:55
  they
• 9:55
  come
• 9:56
  through
• 9:56
  and
• 9:56
  paint
• 9:56
  it
• 9:56
  and
• 9:57
  it
• 9:57
  looks
• 9:57
  absolutely
• 9:58
  like
• 9:59
  garbage.
• 9:59
  And
• 10:00
  you've
• 10:00
  got
• 10:00
  a
• 10:01
  ruined
• 10:01
  finish
• 10:02
  already.
• 10:02
  And
• 10:03
  now
• 10:03
  you
• 10:03
  got
• 10:03
  to
• 10:03
  Strip
• 10:03
  that
• 10:03
  down,
• 10:04
  which
• 10:04
  is
• 10:04
  a
• 10:04
  hot
• 10:04
  mess.
• 10:05
  So
• 10:05
  making
• 10:06
  sure
• 10:06
  that
• 10:06
  finish
• 10:07
  is
• 10:07
  what

  you
• 10:07
  want
• 10:07
  it
• 10:07
  to

• 13:23
  office,
• 13:24
  garage,
• 13:25
  whatever
• 13:25
  you're
• 13:26
  doing.
• 13:26
  These
• 13:26
  are
• 13:26
  the
• 13:26
  questions
• 13:27
  that
• 13:27
  I
• 13:27
  think
• 13:27
  are
• 13:27
  the
• 13:27
  most
• 13:27
  important
• 13:28
  to
• 13:28
  ask
• 13:29
  so
• 13:29
  you
• 13:29
  understand
• 13:30
  what
• 13:30
  you're
• 13:30
  getting
• 13:31
  and
• 13:31
  you
• 13:31
  can
• 13:32
  make
• 13:32
  the
• 13:32
  right
• 13:32
  decisions
• 13:33
  for
• 13:34
  your
• 13:34
  project.
• 13:35
  Now,
• 13:35
  unless
• 13:35
  if
• 13:36
  you're
• 13:36
  joining
• 13:36
  us
• 13:36
  in
• 13:36
  the
• 13:36
  podcast,
• 13:37
  of
• 13:37
  course,
• 13:37
  you're
• 13:37
  still
• 13:37
  listening
• 13:38
  to
• 13:38
  us
• 13:38
  here.
• 13:38
  But
• 13:38
  if
• 13:38
  you're
• 13:39
  listening
• 13:39
  on
• 13:39
  the
• 13:39
  radio
• 13:40
  show
• 13:40
  or
• 13:40
  streaming
• 13:41
  out
• 13:42
  there,
• 13:42
  we
• 13:42
  were
• 13:42
  just
• 13:43
  talking
• 13:43
  about
• 13:43
  making
• 13:44
  sure
• 13:44
  that
• 13:44
  you
• 13:45
  understand
• 13:45
  what's
• 13:46
  going
• 13:46
  on.
• 13:47
  Custom
• 13:47
  does
• 13:48
  not
• 13:48
  mean
• 13:48
  quality.
• 13:49
  So
• 13:49
  understanding
• 13:50
  what's
• 13:50
  going
• 13:50
  into
• 13:51
  this
• 13:51
  is
• 13:51
  big
• 13:52
  because
• 13:52
  custom,
• 13:53
  anybody
• 13:54
  could
• 13:54
  be
• 13:54
  custom.
• 13:55
  They're
• 13:55
  just
• 13:55
  making
• 13:55
  it
• 13:55
  for
• 13:55
  your
• 13:56
  house.
• 13:56
  That's
• 13:56
  all
• 13:56
  custom
• 13:57
  means.
• 13:57
  And
• 13:58
  then
• 13:58
  of
• 13:58
  course,
• 13:58
  the
• 13:58
  finish
• 13:59
  is
• 13:59
  an
• 13:59
  important
• 14:00
  one.
• 14:01
  Now
• 14:01
  the
• 14:01
  next
• 14:01
  one
• 14:02
  here
• 14:02
  is
• 14:03
  really
• 14:03
  big
• 14:04
  and
• 14:04
  it's
• 14:05
  how
• 14:05
  are
• 14:05
  the
• 14:05
  cabinets
• 14:06
  going
• 14:06
  to
• 14:06
  be
• 14:06
  built?
• 14:07
  And
• 14:07
  I'm
• 14:07
  talking
• 14:08
  really
• 14:08
  about
• 14:09
  the
• 14:09
  hardware
• 14:09
  here.
• 14:10
  I'm
• 14:10
  talking
• 14:11
  about
• 14:11
  the
• 14:11
  drawer
• 14:11
  glides,
• 14:12
  the
• 14:13
  hinges,
• 14:14
  pull
• 14:14
  outs,
• 14:14
  any
• 14:15
  of
• 14:15
  that
• 14:15
  stuff,
• 14:15
  what's
• 14:15
  going
• 14:16
  on
• 14:16
  there.
• 14:17
  Now
• 14:17
  here's
• 14:17
  where
• 14:17
  this
• 14:18
  becomes
• 14:18
  an
• 14:18
  issue.
• 14:19
  If
• 14:19
  you
• 14:19
  go
• 14:20
  on
• 14:20
  to
• 14:20
  your
• 14:20
  local
• 14:21
  Southeast
• 14:22
  Asia
• 14:23
  import
• 14:23
  cabinet
• 14:24
  knockdown,
• 14:25
  they
• 14:25
  come
• 14:25
  in
• 14:25
  a
• 14:25
  box.
• 14:26
  You
• 14:26
  got
• 14:26
  to
• 14:26
  put
• 14:26
  them
• 14:26
  together
• 14:26
  like
• 14:27
  Ikea.
• 14:28
  And
• 14:28
  I'm
• 14:28
  not
• 14:28
  talking
• 14:29
  a
• 14:29
  key
• 14:29
  here,
• 14:29
  but
• 14:29
  I'm
• 14:29
  talking
• 14:30
  about
• 14:30
  your
• 14:30
  import
• 14:30
  knockdown
• 14:31
  companies.
• 14:32
  Many
• 14:32
  times
• 14:33
  they
• 14:33
  are
• 14:33
  not
• 14:33
  using
• 14:34
  name
• 14:35
  brand
• 14:35
  hardware.
• 14:36
  What
• 14:37
  do
• 14:37
  I
• 14:37
  mean
• 14:37
  by
• 14:37
  name
• 14:37
  brand?
• 14:38
  Hardware.
• 14:38
  There's
• 14:38
  three
• 14:39
  hardware
• 14:39
  companies
• 14:40
  that
• 14:40
  I
• 14:41
  think
• 14:41
  are
• 14:42
  legitimate
• 14:42
  companies
• 14:43
  out
• 14:43
  there.
• 14:43
  There's
• 14:43
  probably
• 14:44
  more,
• 14:44
  but
• 14:44
  these
• 14:44
  are
• 14:44
  the
• 14:44
  common
• 14:45
  ones.
• 14:45
  You've
• 14:46
  got
• 14:46
  Bloom,
• 14:47
  Blu,
• 14:47
  you've
• 14:48
  got
• 14:48
  Sally,
• 14:49
  which
• 14:49
  is
• 14:49
  S
• 14:50
  A
• 14:50
  L
• 14:50
  I
• 14:50
  C
• 14:51
  E.
• 14:51
  And
• 14:52
  then
• 14:52
  you've
• 14:52
  got
• 14:52
  Grass,
• 14:53
  G,
• 14:53
  R
• 14:54
  A,
• 14:54
  S,
• 14:54
  S.
• 14:55
  Those
• 14:55
  are
• 14:56
  three
• 14:56
  different.
• 14:57
  Bloom
• 14:57
  to
• 14:57
  me
• 14:57
  is
• 14:57
  the
• 14:58
  best.
• 14:58
  Celici
• 14:59
  second
• 14:59
  grass,
• 15:00
  probably
• 15:00
  third.
• 15:01
  We
• 15:01
  could
• 15:02
  have
• 15:02
  a
• 15:02
  debate
• 15:02
  on
• 15:02
  those,
• 15:02
  but
• 15:03
  that's
• 15:03
  where
• 15:03
  I'm
• 15:03
  seeing
• 15:04
  those
• 15:04
  in
• 15:04
  my
• 15:05
  line
• 15:05
  of
• 15:05
  work.
• 15:06
  And
• 15:06
  the
• 15:07
  reliability
• 15:07
  of
• 15:07
  all
• 15:08
  those.
• 15:08
  You'll
• 15:08
  see
• 15:09
  some
• 15:09
  different
• 15:09
  brands
• 15:10
  in
• 15:10
  different
• 15:10
  places,
• 15:11
  but
• 15:11
  that's
• 15:11
  really
• 15:12
  the
• 15:12
  three
• 15:12
  main
• 15:13
  companies.
• 15:13
  The
• 15:13
  problem
• 15:14
  is
• 15:14
  it's
• 15:15
  down
• 15:15
  the
• 15:15
  road.
• 15:15
  Maybe
• 15:16
  you
• 15:16
  got
• 15:16
  a
• 15:16
  kid
• 15:16
  plan
• 15:17
  or
• 15:18
  somehow
• 15:18
  a
• 15:18
  hinge
• 15:18
  gets
• 15:19
  broken.
• 15:19
  Those
• 15:20
  hinges
• 15:20
  are
• 15:21
  finely
• 15:22
  machined
• 15:22
  into
• 15:22
  the
• 15:23
  cabinets
• 15:23
  and
• 15:24
  if
• 15:24
  you
• 15:24
  can't
• 15:24
  find
• 15:25
  a
• 15:25
  replacement
• 15:25
  piece,
• 15:26
  it
• 15:27
  is
• 15:27
  going
• 15:27
  to
• 15:27
  be
• 15:28
  a
• 15:29
  woodworking
• 15:30
  masterclass
• 15:31
  to
• 15:31
  fit
• 15:32
  another
• 15:32
  hinge
• 15:33
  on
• 15:33
  these
• 15:33
  cabinets.
• 15:34
  And
• 15:34
  there's
• 15:35
  a
• 15:35
  lot
• 15:35
  of
• 15:35
  choices
• 15:36
  and
• 15:36
  a
• 15:36
  lot
• 15:36
  of
• 15:36
  places
• 15:37
  mistakes
• 15:37
  can
• 15:37
  happen.
• 15:38
  So
• 15:39
  I
• 15:39
  want
• 15:39
  to
• 15:39
  make
• 15:39
  sure
• 15:40
  that
• 15:40
  when
• 15:40
  you're
• 15:40
  getting
• 15:41
  cabinetry,
• 15:42
  what
• 15:42
  brand
• 15:42
  of
• 15:42
  hinges
• 15:43
  are
• 15:43
  they?
• 15:44
  Soft,
• 15:44
  close,
• 15:44
  Are
• 15:45
  they
• 15:45
  undermount,
• 15:46
  Are
• 15:46
  they
• 15:47
  concealed?
• 15:47
  What's
• 15:48
  going
• 15:48
  on
• 15:48
  with
• 15:48
  that?
• 15:49
  And
• 15:50
  to
• 15:50
  me,
• 15:51
  under
• 15:51
  mount
• 15:51
  glides
• 15:52
  are
• 15:52
  going
• 15:52
  to
• 15:52
  be
• 15:53
  the
• 15:53
  best.
• 15:53
  Because
• 15:53
  those
• 15:54
  are
• 15:54
  underneath
• 15:55
  the
• 15:55
  drawer
• 15:55
  box.
• 15:56
  There's
• 15:56
  really
• 15:56
  no
• 15:57
  reason
• 15:57
  to
• 15:57
  be
• 15:57
  using
• 15:58
  the
• 15:58
  white
• 15:58
  epoxy
• 15:59
  coated
• 16:00
  side
• 16:00
  slides
• 16:01
  or
• 16:01
  kind
• 16:01
  of
• 16:01
  the
• 16:01
  bottom
• 16:02
  slides
• 16:02
  with
• 16:03
  the
• 16:03
  little
• 16:03
  white
• 16:03
  rollers
• 16:04
  on
• 16:04
  them
• 16:04
  that
• 16:04
  you
• 16:04
  see
• 16:04
  in
• 16:04
  all
• 16:04
  the
• 16:05
  super
• 16:05
  cheap
• 16:05
  home
• 16:06
  improvement
• 16:06
  store
• 16:07
  stock
• 16:07
  cabinetry
• 16:08
  stuff.
• 16:09
  That
• 16:09
  stuff's
• 16:09
  garbage.
• 16:10
  Just
• 16:10
  don't
• 16:10
  do
• 16:11
  it.
• 16:11
  Spend
• 16:12
  the
• 16:12
  money
• 16:12
  on
• 16:13
  the
• 16:13
  hardware
• 16:14
  so
• 16:14
  it
• 16:14
  holds
• 16:14
  up.
• 16:15
  And
• 16:15
  also
• 16:16
  as
• 16:16
  you're
• 16:17
  doing
• 16:17
  this,
• 16:18
  take
• 16:18
  a
• 16:18
  look
• 16:19
  because
• 16:19
  traditionally
• 16:19
  a
• 16:20
  drawer
• 16:20
  box,
• 16:21
  when
• 16:21
  you
• 16:21
  open
• 16:21
  a
• 16:21
  drawer
• 16:22
  box
• 16:22
  off,
• 16:22
  throw
• 16:22
  a
• 16:22
  tape
• 16:23
  measure
• 16:23
  on
• 16:23
  it,
• 16:23
  there's
• 16:24
  probably
• 16:24
  two
• 16:24
  and
• 16:24
  a
• 16:24
  half,
• 16:24
  three
• 16:25
  inches
• 16:25
  between
• 16:25
  the
• 16:25
  back
• 16:25
  of
• 16:26
  that
• 16:26
  drawer
• 16:26
  box
• 16:26
  and
• 16:26
  the
• 16:27
  cabinet
• 16:27
  back
• 16:27
  there.
• 16:28
  There's
• 16:28
  a
• 16:28
  little
• 16:28
  bit
• 16:28
  of
• 16:29
  space.
• 16:29
  Some
• 16:30
  of
• 16:30
  these
• 16:30
  cheaper
• 16:31
  Companies
• 16:32
  might
• 16:32
  go
• 16:32
  5
• 16:33
  inches
• 16:33
  or
• 16:33
  so
• 16:34
  and
• 16:34
  now
• 16:34
  all
• 16:35
  of
• 16:35
  a
• 16:35
  sudden
• 16:35
  you're
• 16:35
  losing
• 16:35
  a
• 16:36
  lot
• 16:36
  of
• 16:36
  space.
• 16:37
  I
• 16:37
  get
• 16:37
  it
• 16:37
  when
• 16:37
  there's
• 16:38
  two
• 16:38
  and
• 16:38
  a
• 16:38
  half,
• 16:39
  but
• 16:39
  if
• 16:39
  you're
• 16:39
  getting
• 16:39
  up
• 16:40
  four
• 16:40
  or
• 16:40
  five
• 16:40
  inches
• 16:41
  behind
• 16:42
  a
• 16:42
  drawer,
• 16:43
  unless
• 16:43
  you've
• 16:43
  got
• 16:44
  a
• 16:44
  something
• 16:45
  going
• 16:45
  up
• 16:45
  there
• 16:45
  like
• 16:46
  a
• 16:46
  faucet,
• 16:46
  which
• 16:47
  wouldn't
• 16:47
  make
• 16:47
  any
• 16:47
  sense
• 16:48
  because
• 16:48
  you
• 16:48
  got
• 16:48
  to
• 16:48
  have
• 16:48
  a
• 16:48
  sink
• 16:49
  in
• 16:49
  there.
• 16:49
  You
• 16:49
  see
• 16:49
  where
• 16:50
  I'm
• 16:50
  getting
• 16:50
  at?
• 16:50
  It
• 16:51
  doesn't
• 16:51
  make
• 16:51
  any
• 16:51
  sense.
• 16:52
  So
• 16:53
  for
• 16:53
  me,
• 16:53
  you
• 16:54
  want
• 16:54
  to
• 16:54
  make
• 16:54
  sure
• 16:54
  that
• 16:54
  those
• 16:55
  things
• 16:55
  are
• 16:55
  deep
• 16:56
  enough
• 16:57
  that
• 16:57
  you're
• 16:57
  going
• 16:57
  to
• 16:57
  get
• 16:57
  the
• 16:58
  storage.
• 16:58
  So
• 16:58
  I
• 16:59
  expect
• 16:59
  to
• 16:59
  see
• 16:59
  a
• 16:59
  few
• 16:59
  inches
• 17:00
  back
• 17:00
  there.
• 17:00
  That's
• 17:00
  Fine,
• 17:01
  that's
• 17:01
  standard.
• 17:02
  Many
• 17:03
  times
• 17:03
  companies
• 17:03
  will
• 17:04
  have
• 17:04
  a
• 17:04
  21
• 17:05
  inch
• 17:05
  drawer
• 17:06
  depth
• 17:06
  front
• 17:07
  to
• 17:07
  back
• 17:08
  and
• 17:08
  then
• 17:08
  you've
• 17:08
  got
• 17:08
  a
• 17:09
  24
• 17:09
  inch
• 17:09
  deep
• 17:10
  cabinet
• 17:10
  box.
• 17:10
  That's
• 17:11
  super
• 17:11
  common.
• 17:11
  Not
• 17:12
  a
• 17:12
  problem.
• 17:12
  I
• 17:13
  just
• 17:13
  want
• 17:13
  to
• 17:13
  make
• 17:13
  sure
• 17:13
  you're
• 17:14
  getting
• 17:14
  a
• 17:14
  19
• 17:14
  or
• 17:14
  something
• 17:15
  like
• 17:15
  that
• 17:15
  because
• 17:15
  they're
• 17:15
  saving
• 17:16
  money
• 17:16
  on
• 17:16
  hinges,
• 17:17
  on
• 17:17
  glides
• 17:18
  and
• 17:18
  on
• 17:18
  drawer
• 17:18
  boxes.
• 17:19
  Now
• 17:20
  when
• 17:20
  it
• 17:20
  comes
• 17:20
  to
• 17:20
  drawer
• 17:20
  boxes,
• 17:21
  as
• 17:21
  far
• 17:21
  as
• 17:21
  that
• 17:21
  construction,
• 17:22
  plywood
• 17:23
  is
• 17:24
  great.
• 17:24
  I
• 17:24
  have
• 17:24
  no
• 17:25
  problem
• 17:25
  with
• 17:25
  it.
• 17:26
  Dovetail
• 17:26
  is
• 17:26
  nice,
• 17:27
  but
• 17:27
  it's
• 17:27
  not
• 17:27
  as
• 17:27
  big
• 17:27
  as
• 17:27
  it
• 17:28
  used
• 17:28
  to
• 17:28
  be.
• 17:28
  When
• 17:28
  you
• 17:28
  had
• 17:29
  cheaper
• 17:29
  drawer
• 17:30
  glides
• 17:30
  like
• 17:30
  the
• 17:30
  side
• 17:31
  glides
• 17:31
  or
• 17:31
  the
• 17:31
  little
• 17:32
  white
• 17:32
  epoxy
• 17:32
  mount
• 17:33
  ones
• 17:33
  that
• 17:33
  were
• 17:33
  on
• 17:33
  the
• 17:33
  edges,
• 17:34
  that
• 17:34
  drawer
• 17:35
  box
• 17:35
  had
• 17:35
  to
• 17:35
  stay
• 17:36
  together.
• 17:36
  But
• 17:36
  when
• 17:36
  you
• 17:36
  have
• 17:36
  undermount
• 17:37
  glides,
• 17:37
  it
• 17:37
  doesn't
• 17:37
  mean
• 17:38
  as
• 17:38
  much.
• 17:38
  So
• 17:39
  to
• 17:39
  me,
• 17:39
  unless
• 17:39
  you
• 17:40
  want
• 17:40
  it
• 17:40
  to
• 17:40
  look
• 17:40
  beautiful
• 17:41
  when
• 17:41
  somebody
• 17:41
  opens
• 17:41
  a
• 17:42
  drawer
• 17:42
  up.
• 17:43
  Dovetail
• 17:43
  is
• 17:43
  nice,
• 17:44
  but
• 17:44
  it's
• 17:44
  not
• 17:44
  needed
• 17:45
  like
• 17:45
  it
• 17:45
  was
• 17:45
  15
• 17:45
  years
• 17:46
  ago
• 17:46
  or
• 17:46
  20
• 17:46
  years
• 17:46
  ago.
• 17:47
  So
• 17:48
  that
• 17:48
  is
• 17:49
  not.
• 17:49
  That
• 17:49
  is
• 17:49
  a
• 17:49
  luxury
• 17:50
  item.
• 17:50
  I
• 17:50
  would
• 17:50
  add
• 17:51
  it
• 17:51
  is
• 17:51
  not
• 17:51
  a
• 17:51
  definite
• 17:52
  item.
• 17:52
  Where
• 17:53
  the
• 17:53
  undermount
• 17:54
  drawer
• 17:54
  glides
• 17:54
  that
• 17:55
  are
• 17:55
  bloom
• 17:55
  celici
• 17:56
  grass
• 17:57
  are
• 17:57
  more
• 17:57
  important
• 17:58
  than
• 17:58
  the
• 17:58
  drawer
• 17:59
  box
• 18:00
  construction
• 18:01
  because
• 18:01
  you're
• 18:01
  just
• 18:02
  adding
• 18:02
  money
• 18:02
  that
• 18:03
  is
• 18:03
  not
• 18:03
  adding
• 18:04
  value
• 18:04
  to
• 18:04
  you
• 18:05
  on
• 18:05
  what
• 18:05
  you're
• 18:05
  doing.
• 18:06
  So
• 18:06
  just
• 18:06
  think
• 18:06
  about
• 18:06
  that
• 18:07
  through
• 18:07
  how
• 18:07
  that's
• 18:07
  going
• 18:08
  to
• 18:08
  work
• 18:09
  with
• 18:09
  that.
• 18:10
  So
• 18:10
  make
• 18:11
  sure
• 18:11
  you're
• 18:11
  paying
• 18:11
  attention
• 18:12
  to
• 18:12
  where
• 18:12
  that
• 18:12
  hardware
• 18:13
  is
• 18:13
  coming.
• 18:13
  And
• 18:14
  if
• 18:14
  it's
• 18:14
  an
• 18:14
  import
• 18:14
  cabinet,
• 18:15
  make
• 18:15
  sure
• 18:15
  it's
• 18:15
  not
• 18:16
  some
• 18:16
  ugly
• 18:16
  knockoff
• 18:17
  that
• 18:17
  you'll
• 18:18
  never
• 18:18
  find
• 18:18
  replacement
• 18:19
  parts
• 18:19
  for.
• 18:20
  So
• 18:20
  that's
• 18:20
  a
• 18:20
  big
• 18:20
  one.
• 18:21
  Now
• 18:22
  how
• 18:22
  the
• 18:22
  boxes
• 18:22
  are
• 18:23
  construction
• 18:23
  is
• 18:24
  another
• 18:24
  big
• 18:24
  piece.
• 18:25
  How
• 18:25
  these
• 18:25
  things
• 18:26
  are
• 18:26
  built
• 18:26
  together.
• 18:27
  And
• 18:27
  that
• 18:28
  is
• 18:28
  huge.
• 18:28
  And
• 18:28
  there's
• 18:29
  three
• 18:29
  major
• 18:30
  types
• 18:30
  of
• 18:31
  construction
• 18:31
  for
• 18:32
  cabinetry
• 18:33
  that
• 18:33
  you
• 18:33
  see
• 18:34
  in
• 18:34
  the
• 18:35
  United
• 18:35
  States.
• 18:36
  The
• 18:36
  old
• 18:36
  school
• 18:38
  face
• 18:38
  frame
• 18:38
  style
• 18:39
  cabinet,
• 18:39
  that's
• 18:39
  where
• 18:39
  it's
• 18:40
  got
• 18:40
  like
• 18:40
  a
• 18:40
  one
• 18:40
  by
• 18:40
  two
• 18:41
  face
• 18:41
  across
• 18:42
  there
• 18:42
  that's
• 18:43
  built
• 18:43
  across
• 18:43
  it.
• 18:44
  And
• 18:44
  then
• 18:44
  your
• 18:44
  drawers
• 18:45
  and
• 18:45
  drawers
• 18:46
  go.
• 18:46
  Drawers
• 18:46
  and
• 18:46
  doors
• 18:47
  go
• 18:47
  over
• 18:47
  the
• 18:47
  top
• 18:47
  of
• 18:47
  that.
• 18:48
  Right.
• 18:49
  And
• 18:49
  so
• 18:49
  that's
• 18:49
  your
• 18:49
  traditional
• 18:50
  face
• 18:50
  frame
• 18:51
  cabinet.
• 18:51
  Now
• 18:52
  if
• 18:52
  you
• 18:52
  look
• 18:52
  at
• 18:53
  frameless
• 18:53
  euro
• 18:54
  style
• 18:54
  cabinets,
• 18:55
  or
• 18:55
  full
• 18:55
  access
• 18:56
  depending
• 18:56
  on
• 18:56
  what
• 18:56
  you
• 18:56
  want
• 18:56
  to
• 18:56
  call,
• 18:57
  these
• 18:57
  cabinets
• 18:58
  just
• 18:58
  have
• 18:58
  the
• 18:59
  sides
• 18:59
  which
• 18:59
  are
• 19:00
  five,
• 19:00
  eight
• 19:00
  or
• 19:00
  three
• 19:01
  quarters
• 19:01
  of
• 19:01
  an
• 19:01
  inch
• 19:02
  and
• 19:02
  everything
• 19:02
  fits
• 19:03
  in
• 19:03
  within
• 19:03
  that.
• 19:03
  So
• 19:04
  if
• 19:04
  you
• 19:04
  have
• 19:04
  a
• 19:04
  lot
• 19:04
  of
• 19:04
  drawers,
• 19:05
  that
• 19:05
  frameless
• 19:06
  style
• 19:07
  gives
• 19:07
  you
• 19:07
  a
• 19:07
  lot
• 19:08
  more
• 19:08
  storage.
• 19:08
  On
• 19:09
  a
• 19:09
  small
• 19:09
  kitchen,
• 19:09
  that
• 19:10
  can
• 19:10
  give
• 19:10
  you
• 19:10
  an
• 19:10
  extra
• 19:11
  18
• 19:11
  inches
• 19:12
  of
• 19:12
  cabinet
• 19:12
  storage.
• 19:12
  If
• 19:12
  you've
• 19:13
  got
• 19:13
  a
• 19:13
  lot
• 19:13
  of
• 19:13
  drawers.
• 19:14
  Hey,
• 19:14
  adding
• 19:14
  a
• 19:15
  four
• 19:15
  drawer
• 19:15
  18
• 19:15
  inch
• 19:16
  to
• 19:16
  a
• 19:16
  small
• 19:16
  kitchen
• 19:17
  is
• 19:17
  big
• 19:18
  when
• 19:18
  it
• 19:18
  comes
• 19:19
  to
• 19:19
  storage.
• 19:19
  So
• 19:20
  think
• 19:20
  about
• 19:20
  that.
• 19:21
  That
• 19:21
  is
• 19:21
  big
• 19:22
  and
• 19:22
  that's
• 19:22
  where
• 19:23
  you
• 19:23
  can
• 19:23
  save.
• 19:23
  Now
• 19:24
  there's
• 19:24
  another
• 19:25
  version
• 19:25
  of
• 19:25
  a
• 19:25
  face
• 19:25
  frame
• 19:26
  style
• 19:26
  cabinet
• 19:26
  and
• 19:27
  that's
• 19:27
  an
• 19:27
  inset
• 19:27
  where
• 19:28
  when
• 19:28
  you're
• 19:29
  looking
• 19:29
  at
• 19:29
  a
• 19:29
  face
• 19:30
  frame
• 19:30
  cabinet,
• 19:30
  the
• 19:31
  doors
• 19:31
  and
• 19:31
  drawers
• 19:32
  typically
• 19:32
  overlay
• 19:33
  fully
• 19:33
  over
• 19:34
  that.
• 19:34
  So
• 19:34
  there's
• 19:34
  like
• 19:34
  a
• 19:34
  316
• 19:35
  gap
• 19:36
  around
• 19:36
  the
• 19:36
  cabinets.
• 19:37
  Now
• 19:38
  if
• 19:38
  you're
• 19:38
  on
• 19:38
  a
• 19:38
  budget,
• 19:39
  you're
• 19:39
  trying
• 19:39
  to
• 19:39
  just
• 19:39
  do
• 19:40
  something
• 19:40
  on
• 19:40
  the
• 19:40
  cheap,
• 19:40
  then
• 19:41
  you
• 19:41
  have
• 19:41
  those
• 19:41
  what
• 19:41
  they
• 19:41
  call
• 19:41
  half
• 19:42
  overlay
• 19:43
  or
• 19:43
  a
• 19:44
  modified
• 19:44
  overlay
• 19:45
  where
• 19:45
  there's
• 19:45
  a
• 19:45
  half
• 19:45
  inch
• 19:46
  that
• 19:46
  the
• 19:46
  door
• 19:47
  is
• 19:47
  covering
• 19:47
  the
• 19:48
  frame
• 19:48
  and
• 19:48
  there's
• 19:49
  a
• 19:49
  big
• 19:49
  gap
• 19:49
  between
• 19:49
  the
• 19:50
  doors.
• 19:50
  Now
• 19:51
  if
• 19:51
  you're
• 19:51
  looking
• 19:51
  at
• 19:52
  a
• 19:52
  more
• 19:52
  classic
• 19:53
  furniture
• 19:54
  look,
• 19:54
  that's
• 19:55
  where
• 19:55
  you
• 19:55
  see
• 19:55
  flush
• 19:56
  inset
• 19:57
  and
• 19:57
  that
• 19:57
  is
• 19:57
  where
• 19:57
  you
• 19:57
  have
• 19:58
  a
• 19:58
  face
• 19:58
  frame.
• 19:59
  But
• 19:59
  the
• 19:59
  doors
• 20:00
  and
• 20:00
  drawer
• 20:00
  fronts
• 20:01
  are
• 20:01
  flush
• 20:02
  inset
• 20:02
  into
• 20:03
  that.
• 20:03
  So
• 20:04
  instead
• 20:04
  of
• 20:04
  them
• 20:04
  laying
• 20:04
  on
• 20:04
  front,
• 20:05
  they're
• 20:05
  inset.
• 20:06
  Now
• 20:06
  these
• 20:07
  do
• 20:07
  waste
• 20:08
  a
• 20:08
  ton
• 20:08
  of
• 20:08
  space.
• 20:09
  There
• 20:09
  are
• 20:09
  a
• 20:10
  ton
• 20:10
  of
• 20:10
  problems
• 20:11
  with
• 20:11
  this.
• 20:12
  You
• 20:12
  need
• 20:12
  to
• 20:12
  make
• 20:12
  sure
• 20:13
  that
• 20:13
  this
• 20:13
  is
• 20:13
  going
• 20:13
  into
• 20:14
  a
• 20:14
  house
• 20:14
  that
• 20:15
  has
• 20:15
  a
• 20:15
  full
• 20:16
  system
• 20:17
  for
• 20:18
  making
• 20:18
  sure
• 20:18
  that
• 20:18
  humidity
• 20:19
  is
• 20:19
  under
• 20:19
  control,
• 20:20
  that
• 20:21
  you're
• 20:21
  not
• 20:21
  putting
• 20:21
  in
• 20:21
  a
• 20:22
  vacation
• 20:22
  house
• 20:22
  or
• 20:23
  a
• 20:23
  coastal
• 20:23
  property.
• 20:24
  Because
• 20:24
  here's
• 20:24
  what
• 20:24
  happens.
• 20:25
  Those
• 20:25
  drawer
• 20:25
  and
• 20:25
  drawer
• 20:26
  fronts,
• 20:27
  you
• 20:27
  usually
• 20:27
  have
• 20:27
  a
• 20:27
  nice
• 20:28
  tight
• 20:28
  gap
• 20:28
  in
• 20:28
  those.
• 20:29
  By
• 20:29
  the
• 20:29
  time
• 20:30
  everything
• 20:30
  expanding
• 20:30
  and
• 20:31
  contracting,
• 20:31
  you
• 20:32
  will
• 20:32
  fight
• 20:32
  those
• 20:33
  things.
• 20:33
  If
• 20:34
  you
• 20:34
  don't
• 20:34
  have
• 20:35
  your
• 20:35
  humidity
• 20:35
  100%
• 20:36
  controlled
• 20:37
  in
• 20:37
  that
• 20:37
  place,
• 20:37
  if
• 20:38
  you're
• 20:38
  on
• 20:38
  a
• 20:38
  lake,
• 20:39
  if
• 20:39
  you're
• 20:39
  at
• 20:39
  the
• 20:39
  beach,
• 20:40
  you're
• 20:40
  in
• 20:40
  Hawaii,
• 20:42
  just
• 20:42
  bag
• 20:42
  that
• 20:43
  idea.
• 20:43
  It's
• 20:43
  not
• 20:44
  worth
• 20:44
  the
• 20:44
  hassle.
• 20:45
  So
• 20:45
  those
• 20:45
  are
• 20:45
  not
• 20:45
  great
• 20:46
  for
• 20:46
  that.
• 20:47
  It's
• 20:47
  just
• 20:47
  the
• 20:47
  same
• 20:47
  thing
• 20:48
  when
• 20:48
  it
• 20:48
  comes
• 20:48
  to
• 20:49
  little
• 20:50
  side
• 20:50
  note
• 20:50
  on
• 20:50
  that
• 20:50
  as
• 20:51
  well.
• 20:51
  It's
• 20:52
  like
• 20:52
  doors
• 20:52
  and
• 20:52
  drawer
• 20:53
  fronts.
• 20:53
  I
• 20:54
  don't.
• 20:54
  When
• 20:54
  you
• 20:55
  look
• 20:55
  at
• 20:55
  high
• 20:55
  end
• 20:56
  flat
• 20:57
  slab
• 20:57
  doors
• 20:57
  and
• 20:58
  drawer
• 20:58
  fronts
• 20:58
  that
• 20:58
  are
• 20:58
  contemporary,
• 20:59
  veneers
• 21:00
  are
• 21:00
  the
• 21:00
  best
• 21:00
  way
• 21:01
  to
• 21:01
  go.
• 21:01
  A
• 21:02
  solid
• 21:02
  piece
• 21:02
  of
• 21:03
  maple,
• 21:03
  oak,
• 21:04
  white
• 21:04
  oak,
• 21:04
  whatever,
• 21:05
  tends
• 21:05
  to
• 21:05
  move
• 21:06
  around
• 21:06
  a
• 21:06
  lot.
• 21:06
  So
• 21:07
  veneers
• 21:07
  are
• 21:08
  better
• 21:08
  and
• 21:09
  will
• 21:09
  be
• 21:09
  more
• 21:09
  reliable
• 21:10
  than
• 21:10
  that
• 21:11
  solid
• 21:11
  piece
• 21:11
  of
• 21:11
  wood.
• 21:12
  Because
• 21:12
  that
• 21:12
  wood's
• 21:12
  going
• 21:12
  to
• 21:12
  want
• 21:13
  to
• 21:13
  warp,
• 21:13
  it's
• 21:13
  going
• 21:13
  to
• 21:13
  want
• 21:13
  to
• 21:14
  move
• 21:14
  around.
• 21:14
  It's
• 21:15
  what
• 21:15
  happens
• 21:15
  with
• 21:15
  those
• 21:16
  things.
• 21:16
  Now
• 21:16
  when
• 21:17
  we
• 21:17
  come
• 21:17
  back,
• 21:17
  we're
• 21:17
  getting
• 21:17
  the
• 21:18
  meat
• 21:18
  in
• 21:18
  the
• 21:18
  heart
• 21:19
  of
• 21:19
  this
• 21:19
  here
• 21:19
  with
• 21:20
  some
• 21:20

• 21:20
  the
• 21:20

• 21:20
  ones
• 21:21
  on
• 21:22
  those
• 21:22
  questions
• 21:23
  you
• 21:23
  should

  ask
• 21:24
  before
• 21:24
  you
• 21:24
  order
• 21:24

• 24:07
  Thanks
• 24:07
  for
• 24:08
  tuning
• 24:08
  in.
• 24:08
  Today
• 24:08
  we've
• 24:08
  been
• 24:09
  talking
• 24:09
  about
• 24:10
  my
• 24:10
  top
• 24:10
  10
• 24:11
  questions
• 24:11
  you
• 24:11
  should
• 24:11
  be
• 24:12
  asking.
• 24:12
  If
• 24:12
  you're
• 24:12
  out
• 24:12
  buying
• 24:13
  cabinetry.
• 24:14
  And
• 24:14
  this
• 24:14
  is
• 24:15
  a
• 24:15
  huge
• 24:15
  deal.
• 24:15
  So
• 24:16
  this
• 24:16
  can
• 24:16
  save
• 24:16
  you
• 24:16
  a
• 24:16
  ton
• 24:17
  of
• 24:17
  money
• 24:17
  and

  if

  you
• 24:18
  follow
• 24:19
  my
• 24:19
  rules
• 24:19
  here.
• 24:19
  It's

  going

  how
• 24:23
  to
• 24:23
  make

  the

  where

  to

• 24:25
  and

  maybe

  where

  not

  This

• 24:36
  We

  the

• 24:40
  of

• 24:41
  the
• 24:41
  next
• 24:41
  one's
• 24:42
  important
• 24:42
  too.
• 24:43
  When
• 24:43
  you're
• 24:43
  ordering
• 24:44
  cabinetry,
• 24:45
  whether
• 24:45
  it's
• 24:46
  semi
• 24:46
  custom,
• 24:47
  whatever,
• 24:48
  there
• 24:48
  are
• 24:48
  things
• 24:49
  that
• 24:49
  you
• 24:49
  need
• 24:50
  to
• 24:50
  make
• 24:50
  sure
• 24:50
  that
• 24:50
  you're
• 24:51
  signing
• 24:51
  and
• 24:51
  approving
• 24:52
  that
• 24:52
  are
• 24:52
  warning
• 24:53
  signs.
• 24:53
  If
• 24:53
  they're
• 24:54
  not
• 24:54
  doing
• 24:54
  this
• 24:55
  when
• 24:55
  you
• 24:55
  go
• 24:55
  write
• 24:55
  the
• 24:56
  check
• 24:56
  or
• 24:57
  give
• 24:57
  them
• 24:57
  your
• 24:57
  credit
• 24:58
  card
• 24:58
  and
• 24:58
  here's
• 24:59
  what
• 24:59
  they
• 24:59
  are.
• 24:59
  When
• 25:00
  ordering
• 25:00
  cabinetry,
• 25:01
  you
• 25:01
  need
• 25:02
  to
• 25:02
  make
• 25:02
  sure
• 25:02
  that
• 25:02
  you
• 25:03
  have
• 25:03
  a
• 25:03
  set
• 25:03
  of
• 25:03
  drawings
• 25:04
  that
• 25:05
  have
• 25:05
  been
• 25:05
  measured
• 25:06
  by
• 25:06
  them
• 25:07
  and
• 25:08
  that
• 25:08
  you're
• 25:08
  going
• 25:08
  to
• 25:09
  initial
• 25:09
  and
• 25:09
  approve.
• 25:10
  You
• 25:11
  should
• 25:11
  have
• 25:11
  already
• 25:11
  figured
• 25:12
  out
• 25:12
  your
• 25:12
  appliances.
• 25:13
  Now
• 25:13
  this
• 25:14
  is
• 25:14
  going
• 25:14
  to
• 25:14
  be
• 25:14
  the
• 25:14
  drawing
• 25:15
  of
• 25:15
  exactly
• 25:15
  what
• 25:16
  they're
• 25:16
  building
• 25:17
  and
• 25:17
  everything
• 25:18
  should
• 25:18
  be
• 25:18
  noted
• 25:19
  on
• 25:19
  those
• 25:19
  drawings.
• 25:20
  If
• 25:20
  there's
• 25:20
  doors
• 25:21
  and
• 25:21
  a
• 25:21
  drawer,
• 25:22
  don't
• 25:22
  assume
• 25:23
  that
• 25:23
  you're
• 25:23
  going
• 25:23
  to
• 25:23
  have
• 25:23
  two
• 25:23
  pull
• 25:24
  outs
• 25:24
  in
• 25:24
  it
• 25:24
  behind
• 25:25
  that
• 25:25
  door.
• 25:25
  It
• 25:26
  better
• 25:26
  say
• 25:26
  it
• 25:26
  on
• 25:26
  the
• 25:26
  drawings.
• 25:27
  So
• 25:28
  those
• 25:28
  drawings
• 25:28
  are
• 25:28
  to
• 25:29
  protect
• 25:29
  the
• 25:30
  cabin
• 25:30
  shop
• 25:31
  and
• 25:31
  you.
• 25:32
  So
• 25:32
  make
• 25:32
  sure
• 25:33
  on
• 25:33
  those
• 25:33
  drawings
• 25:34
  it
• 25:34
  shows
• 25:35
  all
• 25:35
  the
• 25:35
  right
• 25:36
  details,
• 25:36
  all
• 25:36
  the
• 25:37
  stuff
• 25:37
  you
• 25:37
  need,
• 25:37
  whether
• 25:38
  it's
• 25:38
  the
• 25:38
  little,
• 25:39
  you
• 25:39
  know,
• 25:39
  whether
• 25:39
  it's
• 25:39
  all
• 25:40
  the
• 25:40
  little
• 25:40
  stuff
• 25:40
  you
• 25:40
  need.
• 25:40
  I'm
• 25:41
  talking
• 25:41
  about
• 25:42
  anything
• 25:42
  box,
• 25:43
  construction,
• 25:44
  finish,
• 25:44
  door
• 25:44
  style,
• 25:45
  all
• 25:45
  those
• 25:45
  things.
• 25:45
  I
• 25:45
  want
• 25:45
  to
• 25:45
  see
• 25:46
  it
• 25:46
  on
• 25:46
  the
• 25:46
  drawings.
• 25:46
  Everything
• 25:47
  right
• 25:47
  there.
• 25:48
  You're
• 25:48
  good
• 25:48
  to
• 25:48
  go
• 25:48
  that
• 25:49
  way.
• 25:50
  Then
• 25:51
  after
• 25:51
  that,
• 25:52
  I
• 25:52
  want
• 25:52
  to
• 25:52
  make
• 25:53
  sure
• 25:53
  that
• 25:53
  you've
• 25:53
  got
• 25:54
  a
• 25:54
  stain
• 25:55
  sample
• 25:56
  that
• 25:56
  you've
• 25:56
  initialed
• 25:57
  or
• 25:57
  that
• 25:57
  you're
• 25:57
  referring
• 25:58
  to
• 25:58
  that
• 25:58
  you've
• 25:58
  approved
• 25:59
  and
• 26:00
  a
• 26:00
  door
• 26:00
  sample
• 26:01
  that
• 26:01
  you've
• 26:01
  approved.
• 26:02
  Now
• 26:02
  here
• 26:02
  is
• 26:03
  the
• 26:03
  problem
• 26:04
  when
• 26:04
  you
• 26:04
  look
• 26:04
  at
• 26:05
  a
• 26:05
  little
• 26:05
  3
• 26:05
  by
• 26:05
  5,
• 26:06
  you
• 26:06
  know,
• 26:07
  3
• 26:07
  inches
• 26:07
  by
• 26:08
  5
• 26:08
  inches
• 26:09
  color
• 26:09
  sample
• 26:10
  and
• 26:10
  you're
• 26:10
  proving
• 26:10
  it,
• 26:11
  that
• 26:11
  kitchen
• 26:12
  might
• 26:12
  not
• 26:12
  look
• 26:12
  like
• 26:12
  that
• 26:13
  sample.
• 26:14
  And
• 26:14
  here's
• 26:14
  where
• 26:14
  you
• 26:15
  run
• 26:15
  into
• 26:15
  problems
• 26:15
  with
• 26:15
  cabinetry
• 26:17
  and
• 26:17
  this
• 26:17
  is
• 26:17
  a
• 26:17
  big
• 26:17
  one.
• 26:18
  Let's
• 26:18
  say
• 26:18
  that
• 26:19
  sample
• 26:20
  was
• 26:20
  a
• 26:20
  light
• 26:20
  cherry.
• 26:21
  If
• 26:22
  that
• 26:22
  sample
• 26:22
  is
• 26:23
  over
• 26:23
  a
• 26:23
  few
• 26:23
  months
• 26:24
  old,
• 26:24
  what
• 26:25
  you
• 26:25
  get
• 26:26
  will
• 26:26
  look
• 26:26
  different.
• 26:27
  And
• 26:27
  I
• 26:27
  can
• 26:27
  promise
• 26:28
  you
• 26:28
  that
• 26:28
  because
• 26:29
  cherry
• 26:29
  ages,
• 26:30
  it
• 26:30
  darkens
• 26:31
  as
• 26:31
  it
• 26:31
  gets
• 26:32
  some
• 26:32
  time
• 26:32
  under
• 26:32
  its
• 26:33
  belt.
• 26:33
  And
• 26:34
  if
• 26:34
  there's
• 26:34
  a
• 26:34
  lot
• 26:34
  of
• 26:34
  uv,
• 26:35
  there's
• 26:35
  windows
• 26:36
  out
• 26:36
  to
• 26:36
  the
• 26:36
  lake
• 26:37
  and
• 26:37
  there's
• 26:38
  light
• 26:38
  reflecting
• 26:38
  up
• 26:39
  in
• 26:39
  there,
• 26:39
  it'll
• 26:40
  change
• 26:40
  quick.
• 26:41
  So
• 26:41
  much
• 26:41
  so
• 26:42
  that
• 26:42
  I've
• 26:42
  had
• 26:42
  cabinets
• 26:43
  that
• 26:43
  were
• 26:44
  installed.
• 26:45
  They
• 26:45
  were
• 26:45
  doing.
• 26:45
  The
• 26:45
  painters
• 26:46
  were
• 26:46
  doing
• 26:46
  final
• 26:47
  painting
• 26:47
  and
• 26:48
  they
• 26:48
  left
• 26:48
  some
• 26:48
  tape
• 26:49
  on
• 26:49
  it
• 26:49
  for
• 26:49
  more
• 26:49
  than
• 26:49
  a
• 26:49
  couple
• 26:50
  of
• 26:50
  days.
• 26:50
  There
• 26:51
  was
• 26:51
  enough
• 26:51
  UV
• 26:52
  coming
• 26:52
  in
• 26:53
  that
• 26:53
  you
• 26:53
  could
• 26:54
  see
• 26:54
  tape
• 26:54
  marks
• 26:54
  because
• 26:55
  it
• 26:55
  had
• 26:55
  blocked
• 26:56
  uv.
• 26:57
  Now
• 26:57
  it
• 26:57
  took
• 26:57
  a
• 26:57
  few
• 26:57
  days
• 26:58
  for
• 26:58
  it
• 26:58
  to
• 26:58
  catch
• 26:58
  up.
• 26:58
  Wasn't
• 26:59
  that
• 26:59
  big
• 26:59
  a
• 26:59
  deal.
• 27:00
  But
• 27:00
  this
• 27:01
  is
• 27:01
  where
• 27:01
  these
• 27:01
  problems
• 27:02
  arise.
• 27:03
  So
• 27:03
  what
• 27:03
  happens
• 27:04
  is,
• 27:04
  and
• 27:05
  with
• 27:05
  lighter
• 27:05
  woods,
• 27:05
  it
• 27:06
  can
• 27:06
  be
• 27:06
  a
• 27:06
  little
• 27:06
  bit
• 27:07
  different.
• 27:07
  Let's
• 27:08
  say
• 27:08
  you
• 27:08
  went
• 27:09
  and
• 27:09
  got
• 27:10
  a
• 27:10
  natural.
• 27:11
  You
• 27:11
  wanted
• 27:11
  a
• 27:11
  contemporary
• 27:12
  kitchen.
• 27:12
  You're
• 27:13
  like,
• 27:13
  I
• 27:13
  love
• 27:14
  natural
• 27:15
  hard
• 27:15
  rock
• 27:15
  maple,
• 27:16
  that
• 27:16
  light
• 27:16
  white
• 27:17
  wood.
• 27:17
  Guess
• 27:18
  what,
• 27:18
  is
• 27:19
  going
• 27:19
  to
• 27:19
  show
• 27:19
  off
• 27:20
  way
• 27:20
  too
• 27:21
  much
• 27:21
  in
• 27:21
  a
• 27:22
  whole
• 27:22
  kitchen.
• 27:23
  Unless
• 27:23
  you're
• 27:23
  spending
• 27:24
  big
• 27:24
  money.
• 27:25
  Here's
• 27:25
  what
• 27:25
  happens.
• 27:26
  Depending
• 27:27
  on
• 27:27
  the
• 27:27
  minerals
• 27:28
  of
• 27:28
  the
• 27:28
  soil
• 27:29
  content
• 27:29
  where
• 27:29
  those
• 27:30
  maple
• 27:30
  trees
• 27:31
  have
• 27:31
  grown.
• 27:32
  For
• 27:32
  custom
• 27:33
  kitchens,
• 27:33
  I
• 27:33
  would
• 27:34
  get
• 27:34
  all
• 27:34
  the
• 27:35
  veneers
• 27:36
  from
• 27:36
  the
• 27:36
  same
• 27:37
  tree
• 27:38
  and
• 27:38
  they
• 27:38
  would
• 27:39
  still
• 27:39
  be
• 27:39
  a
• 27:39
  little
• 27:39
  bit
• 27:40
  off.
• 27:40
  If
• 27:41
  you've
• 27:41
  got
• 27:41
  different
• 27:42
  trees
• 27:42
  going
• 27:42
  on
• 27:43
  there.
• 27:43
  And
• 27:44
  now
• 27:44
  if
• 27:44
  you're
• 27:44
  ordering
• 27:45
  these
• 27:45
  from
• 27:45
  your
• 27:45
  home
• 27:46
  center,
• 27:46
  these
• 27:46
  are
• 27:47
  not
• 27:47
  options
• 27:47
  you
• 27:47
  will
• 27:48
  ever
• 27:48
  have.
• 27:49
  This
• 27:49
  is
• 27:49
  where
• 27:49
  you
• 27:49
  get
• 27:49
  into
• 27:50
  a
• 27:50
  higher
• 27:50
  end
• 27:50
  cabinet
• 27:51
  to
• 27:51
  do
• 27:51
  this.
• 27:52
  But
• 27:52
  if
• 27:52
  you
• 27:53
  go
• 27:53
  in
• 27:53
  and
• 27:53
  try
• 27:53
  to
• 27:54
  order
• 27:54
  a
• 27:54
  maple
• 27:55
  veneer
• 27:55
  kitchen
• 27:56
  out
• 27:56
  of,
• 27:57
  let's
• 27:57
  say,
• 27:57
  craft
• 27:57
  made,
• 27:58
  I
• 27:58
  don't
• 27:58
  even
• 27:59
  know
• 27:59
  if
• 27:59
  they'll
• 27:59
  do
• 27:59
  that
• 27:59
  anymore.
• 28:00
  But
• 28:00
  let's
• 28:00
  say
• 28:00
  they
• 28:00
  did.
• 28:01
  You're
• 28:01
  going
• 28:01
  to
• 28:01
  have
• 28:02
  serious
• 28:03
  color
• 28:03
  variation
• 28:04
  issues
• 28:04
  between
• 28:05
  cabinets.
• 28:06
  That's
• 28:06
  why
• 28:06
  I
• 28:07
  want
• 28:07
  to
• 28:07
  make
• 28:07
  sure
• 28:07
  that
• 28:07
  if
• 28:07
  you're
• 28:08
  doing
• 28:08
  that,
• 28:09
  you're
• 28:09
  paying
• 28:10
  more
• 28:10
  and
• 28:11
  getting
• 28:11
  it
• 28:11
  where
• 28:11
  they're
• 28:11
  flitch
• 28:12
  veneering.
• 28:12
  So
• 28:12
  they
• 28:13
  are
• 28:13
  actually
• 28:13
  taking
• 28:14
  those
• 28:14
  veneer
• 28:14
  flitches,
• 28:15
  they're
• 28:15
  matching
• 28:15
  them
• 28:16
  up.
• 28:16
  And
• 28:17
  here's
• 28:17
  the
• 28:17
  problem.
• 28:17
  Let's
• 28:18
  take
• 28:18
  it
• 28:18
  from
• 28:18
  the
• 28:18
  cabinet
• 28:19
  manufacturer
• 28:19
  side.
• 28:20
  These
• 28:20
  folks
• 28:21
  are
• 28:21
  looking
• 28:22
  at
• 28:22
  it
• 28:22
  and
• 28:22
  they're
• 28:22
  a
• 28:22
  mid
• 28:23
  level
• 28:23
  or
• 28:23
  an
• 28:23
  entry
• 28:24
  level
• 28:24
  shop.
• 28:24
  They
• 28:25
  look
• 28:25
  at
• 28:25
  it
• 28:25
  and
• 28:25
  they
• 28:25
  all
• 28:26
  look
• 28:26
  good
• 28:26
  to
• 28:26
  them.
• 28:27
  But
• 28:27
  until
• 28:27
  you
• 28:27
  get
• 28:27
  the
• 28:28
  finish
• 28:28
  on
• 28:28
  it,
• 28:28
  it
• 28:28
  doesn't
• 28:29
  really
• 28:29
  rear
• 28:30
  its
• 28:30
  ugly
• 28:31
  head.
• 28:31
  There's
• 28:32
  just
• 28:32
  not
• 28:32
  enough
• 28:32
  variation.
• 28:33
  But
• 28:34
  what
• 28:34
  we
• 28:34
  would
• 28:34
  do
• 28:34
  is
• 28:35
  we
• 28:35
  would
• 28:35
  set
• 28:35
  them
• 28:35
  all
• 28:35
  out
• 28:36
  in
• 28:36
  a
• 28:36
  cart
• 28:36
  in
• 28:36
  the
• 28:36
  light
• 28:37
  and
• 28:37
  take
• 28:37
  a
• 28:38
  look
• 28:38
  and
• 28:38
  see
• 28:38
  how
• 28:38
  it
• 28:38
  looked
• 28:39
  first.
• 28:40
  And
• 28:40
  if
• 28:40
  they
• 28:40
  looked
• 28:41
  perfect,
• 28:41
  then
• 28:42
  probably
• 28:42
  going
• 28:42
  to
• 28:42
  be
• 28:42
  okay.
• 28:43
  Now,
• 28:43
  one
• 28:43
  way
• 28:44
  to
• 28:44
  get
• 28:44
  around
• 28:44
  that
• 28:44
  is
• 28:45
  a
• 28:45
  lot
• 28:45
  of
• 28:45
  the
• 28:45
  companies
• 28:45
  go,
• 28:46
  hey,
• 28:46
  we're
• 28:46
  not
• 28:46
  going
• 28:46
  to
• 28:46
  do
• 28:46
  it
• 28:47
  in
• 28:47
  the
• 28:47
  semi
• 28:48
  custom
• 28:48
  world.
• 28:48
  We're
• 28:48
  not
• 28:48
  going
• 28:48
  to
• 28:48
  do
• 28:48
  a
• 28:49
  natural.
• 28:49
  We'll
• 28:49
  do
• 28:49
  a
• 28:49
  little
• 28:50
  tint
• 28:50
  to
• 28:50
  it.
• 28:51
  And
• 28:51
  that
• 28:51
  kind
• 28:52
  of
• 28:52
  makes
• 28:52
  up
• 28:52
  for
• 28:52
  that
• 28:52
  a
• 28:53
  little
• 28:53
  bit.
• 28:54
  But
• 28:54
  really,
• 28:54
  these
• 28:55
  are
• 28:55
  the
• 28:55
  problems
• 28:56
  you
• 28:56
  run
• 28:56
  into
• 28:57
  with
• 28:57
  natural
• 28:58
  woods.
• 28:59
  And
• 28:59
  you
• 28:59
  can
• 28:59
  run
• 28:59
  into
• 29:00
  that
• 29:00
  where
• 29:00
  you
• 29:00
  got
• 29:01
  white
• 29:01
  oak
• 29:01
  that
• 29:02
  goes
• 29:02
  a
• 29:02
  little
• 29:02
  pink,
• 29:03
  even
• 29:03
  though
• 29:03
  the
• 29:04
  red
• 29:04
  oak
• 29:04
  will
• 29:04
  look
• 29:04
  really
• 29:05
  pink.
• 29:06
  You
• 29:06
  can
• 29:06
  get
• 29:07
  many
• 29:07
  different
• 29:07
  varia.
• 29:08
  This
• 29:08
  is
• 29:08
  wood.
• 29:09
  This
• 29:09
  is
• 29:09
  not
• 29:09
  a
• 29:09
  printed
• 29:10
  picture.
• 29:10
  This
• 29:10
  is
• 29:10
  not
• 29:11
  something
• 29:12
  that
• 29:12
  we
• 29:12
  see
• 29:12
  in
• 29:12
  a
• 29:13
  laminate.
• 29:14
  This
• 29:14
  is
• 29:14
  not
• 29:14
  one
• 29:14
  of
• 29:15
  those
• 29:15
  things.
• 29:15
  So
• 29:16
  the
• 29:16
  problem
• 29:16
  that
• 29:16
  we
• 29:17
  see
• 29:17
  with
• 29:17
  this
• 29:17
  is
• 29:18
  that,
• 29:18
  yeah,
• 29:18
  that
• 29:19
  tree
• 29:19
  grew
• 29:19
  and
• 29:19
  it
• 29:20
  grabbed
• 29:20
  iron
• 29:20
  out
• 29:21
  of
• 29:21
  the
• 29:21
  ground
• 29:21
  and
• 29:21
  it
• 29:21
  soaked
• 29:22
  it
• 29:22
  up
• 29:22
  into
• 29:22
  it.
• 29:22
  Whatever
• 29:23
  it
• 29:23
  is,
• 29:23
  whatever
• 29:23
  that
• 29:23
  mineral
• 29:24
  is,
• 29:25
  it
• 29:25
  can
• 29:25
  change
• 29:26
  the
• 29:26
  color
• 29:26
  of
• 29:26
  that.
• 29:26
  So
• 29:27
  the
• 29:27
  panels
• 29:27
  might
• 29:27
  be
• 29:27
  a
• 29:28
  little
• 29:28
  bit
• 29:28
  different
• 29:28
  or
• 29:29
  you
• 29:29
  get
• 29:30
  into
• 29:30
  some
• 29:30
  woods.
• 29:30
  There
• 29:30
  was
• 29:31
  a
• 29:31
  wood
• 29:31
  that
• 29:31
  I
• 29:31
  used
• 29:32
  in
• 29:32
  a
• 29:33
  penthouse,
• 29:34
  actually
• 29:34
  used
• 29:34
  in
• 29:34
  a
• 29:34
  whole
• 29:35
  condo
• 29:35
  project
• 29:35
  up
• 29:36
  in
• 29:36
  Bellevue,
• 29:36
  Washington.
• 29:37
  And
• 29:38
  this
• 29:38
  stuff
• 29:39
  was
• 29:40
  a
• 29:40
  eucalyptus
• 29:41
  green
• 29:42
  hybrid,
• 29:42
  so
• 29:42
  it'd
• 29:43
  grow
• 29:43
  out
• 29:43
  of
• 29:43
  the
• 29:43
  same
• 29:43
  stump
• 29:44
  again.
• 29:44
  So
• 29:44
  it
• 29:44
  was
• 29:44
  really
• 29:44
  cool
• 29:45
  idea.
• 29:45
  And
• 29:46
  it
• 29:46
  was
• 29:46
  a.
• 29:46
  It
• 29:47
  was
• 29:47
  called
• 29:47
  Liptis
• 29:47
  wood.
• 29:48
  And
• 29:49
  what
• 29:49
  we
• 29:49
  did
• 29:49
  is
• 29:49
  we
• 29:49
  did
• 29:49
  this
• 29:50
  whole
• 29:50
  kitchen,
• 29:51
  bathrooms
• 29:51
  out
• 29:51
  of
• 29:51
  this
• 29:52
  on
• 29:52
  the
• 29:52
  whole
• 29:52
  condo
• 29:52
  project.
• 29:53
  It
• 29:53
  was
• 29:53
  super
• 29:54
  cool.
• 29:54
  However,
• 29:55
  the
• 29:56
  problem
• 29:56
  was,
• 29:56
  is
• 29:56
  with
• 29:57
  the
• 29:57
  lighter
• 29:57
  stains.
• 29:58
  The
• 29:58
  wood
• 29:59
  refracted
• 30:00
  light,
• 30:01
  so
• 30:02
  the
• 30:02
  rails,
• 30:03
  think
• 30:03
  of
• 30:03
  rails
• 30:03
  like
• 30:04
  a
• 30:04
  train
• 30:04
  rails.
• 30:04
  The
• 30:05
  pieces
• 30:05
  in
• 30:05
  the
• 30:05
  bottom
• 30:05
  of
• 30:05
  the
• 30:06
  door,
• 30:06
  the
• 30:07
  side
• 30:07
  pieces
• 30:07
  that
• 30:07
  went
• 30:08
  up
• 30:08
  and
• 30:08
  down,
• 30:09
  those
• 30:09
  will
• 30:09
  always
• 30:09
  look
• 30:10
  lighter.
• 30:11
  So
• 30:11
  you
• 30:11
  would
• 30:11
  have
• 30:12
  these
• 30:12
  kind
• 30:12
  of
• 30:12
  problems
• 30:13
  from
• 30:13
  the
• 30:13
  wood.
• 30:13
  So
• 30:14
  this
• 30:14
  is
• 30:14
  why
• 30:14
  I
• 30:15
  want
• 30:15
  you
• 30:15
  to
• 30:15
  make
• 30:15
  sure
• 30:15
  that
• 30:16
  you
• 30:16
  see
• 30:16
  a
• 30:16
  stain
• 30:17
  sample.
• 30:18
  When
• 30:18
  I
• 30:18
  was
• 30:18
  running
• 30:18
  my
• 30:19
  kitchen,
• 30:19
  a
• 30:19
  bath
• 30:19
  company
• 30:20
  up
• 30:20
  in
• 30:20
  the
• 30:20
  Seattle
• 30:20
  area,
• 30:21
  that
• 30:22
  place
• 30:22
  up
• 30:22
  there,
• 30:22
  I
• 30:23
  tell
• 30:23
  you
• 30:23
  what,
• 30:23
  we
• 30:24
  had
• 30:24
  it
• 30:24
  where
• 30:24
  we
• 30:24
  would
• 30:24
  order
• 30:25
  a
• 30:25
  door
• 30:25
  in
• 30:25
  and
• 30:25
  you
• 30:25
  would
• 30:26
  sign
• 30:26
  it.
• 30:26
  That
• 30:26
  way
• 30:26
  you
• 30:27
  knew
• 30:27
  exactly
• 30:27
  what
• 30:27
  you're
• 30:27
  getting
• 30:28
  and
• 30:28
  you
• 30:28
  didn't
• 30:29
  have
• 30:29
  to
• 30:29
  work
• 30:29
  with
• 30:29
  a
• 30:29
  little
• 30:29
  tiny
• 30:30
  sample.
• 30:30
  So
• 30:30
  that
• 30:30
  way
• 30:31
  you
• 30:31
  could
• 30:31
  see
• 30:31
  what
• 30:31
  you
• 30:31
  were
• 30:32
  getting.
• 30:32
  Now
• 30:33
  there's
• 30:33
  going
• 30:33
  to
• 30:33
  be
• 30:33
  some
• 30:33
  variation
• 30:34
  because
• 30:34
  it's
• 30:34
  wood,
• 30:35
  but
• 30:35
  I
• 30:35
  want
• 30:35
  you
• 30:35
  to
• 30:36
  understand
• 30:36
  where
• 30:37
  the
• 30:37
  hiccups
• 30:37
  are
• 30:37
  going
• 30:37
  to
• 30:38
  be
• 30:38
  so
• 30:38
  you
• 30:39
  understand
• 30:39
  it.
• 30:39
  I
• 30:40
  have
• 30:40
  seen
• 30:41
  color
• 30:41
  samples.
• 30:42
  We
• 30:42
  would
• 30:42
  replace
• 30:43
  our
• 30:43
  color
• 30:43
  samples
• 30:43
  in
• 30:44
  cherry
• 30:45
  and
• 30:45
  even
• 30:45
  maples
• 30:46
  and
• 30:46
  some
• 30:46
  of
• 30:46
  the
• 30:46
  other
• 30:46
  woods
• 30:47
  every
• 30:47
  six
• 30:47
  months
• 30:48
  because
• 30:48
  we
• 30:49
  wanted
• 30:49
  something
• 30:49
  that
• 30:50
  would
• 30:50
  be
• 30:50
  accurate
• 30:51
  to
• 30:51
  what
• 30:52
  showed
• 30:52
  up
• 30:52
  at
• 30:52
  your
• 30:52
  house,
• 30:53
  not
• 30:53
  what
• 30:53
  it
• 30:53
  looked
• 30:53
  like
• 30:53
  six
• 30:54
  months
• 30:54
  later,
• 30:55
  because
• 30:55
  natural
• 30:55
  woods
• 30:56
  love
• 30:56
  to
• 30:56
  change
• 30:57
  colors.
• 30:57
  Now
• 30:58
  you'll
• 30:58
  see
• 30:58
  this
• 30:58
  with
• 30:59
  walnut.
• 30:59
  Walnut
• 31:00
  can
• 31:00
  get
• 31:00
  darker,
• 31:01
  but
• 31:01
  as
• 31:01
  soon
• 31:01
  as
• 31:01
  it
• 31:01
  gets
• 31:01
  a
• 31:02
  lot
• 31:02
  of
• 31:02
  sunlight,
• 31:02
  it
• 31:02
  gets
• 31:03
  way
• 31:03
  lighter
• 31:03
  and
• 31:03
  bleaches
• 31:04
  out,
• 31:04
  out.
• 31:04
  Cherry
• 31:05
  will
• 31:05
  actually
• 31:05
  do
• 31:06
  it.
• 31:06
  I
• 31:06
  saw
• 31:07
  a
• 31:07
  old
• 31:07
  cabinet
• 31:08
  showroom
• 31:08
  that
• 31:08
  was
• 31:08
  up
• 31:08
  in
• 31:09
  Vancouver,
• 31:09
  Washington
• 31:10
  one
• 31:10
  time,
• 31:11
  other
• 31:11
  side
• 31:11
  of
• 31:11
  the
• 31:11
  river.
• 31:11
  These
• 31:12
  guys
• 31:12
  have
• 31:12
  been
• 31:12
  there
• 31:12
  for
• 31:12
  20
• 31:13
  years
• 31:13
  at
• 31:13
  a
• 31:13
  cherry
• 31:13
  kitchen
• 31:14
  in
• 31:14
  this
• 31:14
  front,
• 31:15
  just
• 31:16
  absolutely
• 31:17
  west
• 31:17
  facing
• 31:17
  display
• 31:18
  with
• 31:18
  floor
• 31:18
  to
• 31:19
  ceiling
• 31:19
  glass.
• 31:20
  It
• 31:20
  was
• 31:20
  so
• 31:21
  white,
• 31:21
  it
• 31:21
  was
• 31:21
  like
• 31:21
  driftwood.
• 31:22
  You
• 31:23
  open
• 31:23
  the
• 31:23
  door
• 31:23
  and
• 31:23
  you're
• 31:23
  like,
• 31:24
  that's
• 31:24
  cherry.
• 31:25
  Wow.
• 31:25
  That's
• 31:26
  really
• 31:26
  how
• 31:26
  you
• 31:26
  can
• 31:27
  tell
• 31:27
  how
• 31:27
  these
• 31:27
  woods
• 31:27
  change.
• 31:28
  When
• 31:28
  you're
• 31:28
  out
• 31:28
  looking
• 31:29
  at
• 31:29
  cabinet
• 31:29
  displays,
• 31:30
  Open
• 31:30
  those
• 31:30
  doors
• 31:31
  up.
• 31:31
  It's
• 31:32
  been
• 31:32
  around
• 31:32
  for
• 31:32
  a
• 31:32
  long
• 31:33
  time.
• 31:33
  First
• 31:33
  off,
• 31:34
  you'll
• 31:34
  see
• 31:34
  it
• 31:34
  because
• 31:34
  it'll
• 31:34
  look
• 31:35
  dated.
• 31:35
  But
• 31:36
  if
• 31:36
  you
• 31:36
  notice
• 31:36
  the
• 31:37
  inside
• 31:37
  is
• 31:37
  different
• 31:37
  than
• 31:37
  the
• 31:38
  outside.
• 31:38
  You
• 31:39
  had
• 31:39
  some
• 31:39
  aging
• 31:40
  there
• 31:40
  and
• 31:41
  light
• 31:41
  can
• 31:41
  do
• 31:41
  that.
• 31:42
  So
• 31:42
  be
• 31:42
  very
• 31:42
  careful
• 31:43
  with
• 31:43
  that.
• 31:44
  Now,
• 31:44
  some
• 31:44
  of
• 31:45
  the
• 31:45
  things
• 31:45
  as
• 31:45
  some
• 31:45
  of
• 31:45
  these
• 31:45
  cabinet
• 31:46
  companies
• 31:46
  too
• 31:47
  will
• 31:47
  change
• 31:48
  their
• 31:48
  finishes
• 31:48
  along
• 31:49
  the
• 31:49
  way.
• 31:49
  Ten
• 31:49
  years
• 31:49
  ago,
• 31:50
  they
• 31:50
  got
• 31:50
  rid
• 31:50
  of
• 31:50
  lacquer
• 31:51
  and
• 31:51
  they
• 31:51
  went
• 31:52
  to
• 31:52
  a
• 31:52
  conversion
• 31:52
  varnish.
• 31:53
  Some
• 31:54
  people
• 31:54
  won't
• 31:55
  show
• 31:55
  that,
• 31:55
  and
• 31:56
  sometimes
• 31:56
  those
• 31:56
  formulations
• 31:57
  for
• 31:57
  those
• 31:57
  colors
• 31:58
  are
• 31:58
  slightly
• 31:58
  different.
• 31:58
  So
• 31:59
  that's
• 31:59
  why
• 31:59
  I
• 31:59
  want
• 31:59
  to
• 31:59
  make
• 31:59
  sure
• 31:59
  you
• 32:00
  sign
• 32:00
  off
• 32:01
  on
• 32:01
  those
• 32:01
  things.
• 32:02
  But
• 32:02
  these
• 32:02
  are
• 32:02
  the
• 32:02
  problems
• 32:03
  that
• 32:03
  you
• 32:03
  can
• 32:03
  get
• 32:04
  really
• 32:04
  careful
• 32:04
  that
• 32:05
  you
• 32:05
  can
• 32:05
  get
• 32:05
  burned
• 32:05
  on.
• 32:06
  So
• 32:06
  just
• 32:06
  make
• 32:06
  sure
• 32:07
  that
• 32:07
  you've
• 32:07
  approved
• 32:08
  everything.
• 32:08
  And
• 32:09
  if
• 32:09
  not,
• 32:09
  that
• 32:10
  should
• 32:10
  be
• 32:10
  a
• 32:10
  warning
• 32:10
  sign
• 32:10
  that
• 32:11
  you
• 32:11
  could
• 32:11
  have
• 32:11
  some
• 32:11
  issues
• 32:12
  and
• 32:12
  you
• 32:12
  might
• 32:12
  not
• 32:13
  be
• 32:13
  getting
• 32:13
  what
• 32:14
  you
• 32:14
  paid
• 32:14
  for.
• 32:15
  So
• 32:15
  that's
• 32:15
  a
• 32:15
  big
• 32:15
  one.
• 32:16
  Now
• 32:16
  here's
• 32:17
  another
• 32:17
  one
• 32:17
  that's
• 32:17
  a
• 32:17
  little
• 32:18
  controversial.
• 32:18
  And
• 32:18
  I
• 32:19
  want
• 32:19
  to
• 32:19
  talk
• 32:19
  about
• 32:19
  this
• 32:19
  before
• 32:20
  we
• 32:20
  go
• 32:20
  to
• 32:20
  break.
• 32:21
  Do
• 32:21
  not
• 32:21
  design
• 32:22
  your
• 32:22
  own
• 32:22
  kitchen
• 32:23
  as
• 32:23
  a
• 32:23
  homeowner
• 32:24
  or
• 32:24
  even
• 32:24
  a
• 32:24
  contractor.
• 32:25
  Because
• 32:26
  I
• 32:26
  tell
• 32:26
  you
• 32:26
  what,
• 32:27
  here's
• 32:27
  the
• 32:27
  problem.
• 32:28
  A
• 32:28
  good
• 32:28
  kitchen
• 32:29
  designer,
• 32:29
  after
• 32:30
  they've
• 32:30
  learned
• 32:31
  their
• 32:31
  trade,
• 32:32
  maybe
• 32:32
  they've
• 32:32
  gone
• 32:32
  to
• 32:33
  design
• 32:33
  school.
• 32:34
  Even
• 32:34
  coming
• 32:35
  out
• 32:35
  of
• 32:35
  college,
• 32:36
  they
• 32:36
  probably
• 32:37
  need
• 32:37
  two
• 32:38
  years
• 32:39
  of
• 32:39
  designs
• 32:40
  to
• 32:40
  get
• 32:41
  good
• 32:41
  at
• 32:41
  what
• 32:41
  they're
• 32:42
  doing.
• 32:42
  So
• 32:43
  I
• 32:43
  bet
• 32:44
  you
• 32:44
  they
• 32:44
  need
• 32:44
  30
• 32:45
  or
• 32:45
  40
• 32:45
  projects
• 32:46
  to
• 32:46
  really
• 32:47
  start
• 32:47
  getting
• 32:48
  their
• 32:48
  feet
• 32:48
  under
• 32:49
  them.
• 32:49
  Even
• 32:49
  coming
• 32:50
  right
• 32:50
  out
• 32:50
  of
• 32:50
  a
• 32:50
  good
• 32:50
  college
• 32:51
  and
• 32:52
  an
• 32:52
  internship,
• 32:52
  it
• 32:53
  just
• 32:53
  takes
• 32:53
  that
• 32:53
  long.
• 32:54
  There's
• 32:54
  a
• 32:54
  thousand
• 32:55
  things
• 32:55
  that
• 32:55
  can
• 32:55
  go
• 32:55
  wrong
• 32:56
  in
• 32:56
  a
• 32:56
  kitchen
• 32:56
  project,
• 32:57
  and
• 32:57
  I
• 32:57
  don't
• 32:58
  want
• 32:58
  to
• 32:58
  see
• 32:58
  that
• 32:58
  happen
• 32:59
  to
• 32:59
  yours
• 33:00
  if
• 33:01
  you
• 33:01
  did
• 33:01
  it.
• 33:01
  So
• 33:01
  you
• 33:01
  want
• 33:02
  to
• 33:02
  have
• 33:02
  somebody
• 33:02
  with
• 33:02
  another
• 33:02
  set
• 33:03
  of
• 33:03
  eyes.
• 33:03
  We'll
• 33:04
  talk
• 33:04
  about
• 33:04
  what
• 33:04
  to
• 33:04
  look
• 33:05
  for
• 33:05
  in
• 33:05
  a
• 33:05
  designer
• 33:05
  when
• 33:05
  we
• 33:06
  come
• 33:06
  back
• 33:06
  because
• 33:06
  this
• 33:06
  is
• 33:06
  a
• 33:06
  big
• 33:07
  one
• 33:07
  and
• 33:07
  this
• 33:08
  can
• 33:08
  save
• 33:08
  you
• 33:08
  a
• 33:08
  ton
• 33:08
  of
• 33:09
  money
• 33:09
  if
• 33:09
  you
• 33:09
  do
• 33:09
  it
• 33:09
  right.
• 33:09
  So
• 33:09
  you're
• 33:10
  not
• 33:10
  ordering
• 33:10
  cabinets
• 33:10
  twice.
• 33:11
  We'll
• 33:11
  do
• 33:11
  that
• 33:12
  just
• 33:12
  as
• 33:12
  soon
• 33:12
  as
• 33:12
  around
• 33:12
  the
• 33:13
  House
• 33:13
  continues
• 33:14
  with
• 33:15
  this
• 33:15
  great
• 33:15
  subject
• 33:16
  on
• 33:16
  those
• 33:16
  10
• 33:17
  questions
• 33:17
  you
• 33:17
  should
• 33:18
  be
• 33:18
  asking
• 33:18
  before
• 33:19
  you
• 33:19
  write
• 33:19
  the
• 33:19
  check
• 33:19
  on
• 33:19
  that
• 33:20
  cabinetry.
• 33:20
  We'll
• 33:21
  be
• 33:21
  right
• 33:21
  back.
• 35:10
  Welcome
• 35:10
  back
• 35:10
  to
• 35:10
  the
• 35:10
  around
• 35:11
  the
• 35:11
  House
• 35:11
  show,
• 35:11
  the
• 35:11
  next
• 35:11
  generation
• 35:12
  of
• 35:12
  home
• 35:12
  improvement.
• 35:13
  I'm
• 35:13
  Eric
• 35:13
  G.
• 35:13
  Thanks
• 35:14
  for
• 35:14
  joining
• 35:14
  me
• 35:14
  today.
• 35:15
  We've
• 35:15
  been
• 35:15
  Talking
• 35:15
  about
• 35:16
  our
• 35:16
  10
• 35:17
  things
• 35:17
  you
• 35:17
  need
• 35:17
  to
• 35:18
  know
• 35:18
  at
• 35:19
  least
• 35:19
  10
• 35:20
  before
• 35:20
  you
• 35:20
  go
• 35:20
  order
• 35:20
  that
• 35:21
  cabinetry
• 35:21
  for
• 35:21
  whatever
• 35:22
  project
• 35:22
  you're
• 35:22
  working
• 35:23
  on.
• 35:23
  Whether
• 35:23
  it's
• 35:23
  a
• 35:24
  home
• 35:24
  office
• 35:24
  project,
• 35:25
  that
• 35:25
  kitchen
• 35:25
  remodel,
• 35:26
  the
• 35:26
  bathroom
• 35:26
  remodel,
• 35:27
  office
• 35:28
  den,
• 35:29
  whatever
• 35:29
  you're
• 35:29
  working
• 35:29
  on.
• 35:30
  These
• 35:30
  are
• 35:30
  the
• 35:30
  things
• 35:30
  you
• 35:31
  need
• 35:31
  to
• 35:31
  ask
• 35:31
  of
• 35:31
  your
• 35:31
  cabinet
• 35:32
  people
• 35:32
  before
• 35:32
  you
• 35:33
  place
• 35:33
  that
• 35:33
  order.
• 35:34
  And
• 35:34
  in
• 35:34
  this
• 35:35
  we
• 35:35
  got
• 35:35
  a
• 35:35
  lot
• 35:35
  to
• 35:35
  cover
• 35:35
  here.
• 35:36
  So
• 35:36
  I
• 35:36
  want
• 35:36
  to
• 35:36
  jump
• 35:36
  through
• 35:37
  this
• 35:37
  pretty
• 35:37
  quickly
• 35:38
  and
• 35:38
  stay
• 35:38
  on
• 35:39
  task
• 35:39
  here
• 35:39
  just
• 35:39
  to
• 35:39
  make
• 35:40
  sure
• 35:40
  let
• 35:41
  you
• 35:41
  know.
• 35:41
  This
• 35:42
  segment
• 35:42
  is
• 35:42
  brought
• 35:42
  to
• 35:42
  you
• 35:42
  by
• 35:42
  our
• 35:43
  friends
• 35:43
  at
• 35:43
  Monument
• 35:43
  Grills.
• 35:44
  Check
• 35:44
  them
• 35:44
  out@monument.com
• 35:46
  and
• 35:46
  if
• 35:46
  you
• 35:46
  want
• 35:46
  to
• 35:46
  find
• 35:46
  out
• 35:47
  more
• 35:47
  about
• 35:47
  us
• 35:47
  here
• 35:47
  at
• 35:47
  the
• 35:48
  show,
• 35:48
  head
• 35:48
  to
• 35:48
  around
• 35:49
  the
• 35:49
  House
• 35:49
  on
• 35:49
  com
• 35:50
  and
• 35:50
  make
• 35:50
  sure
• 35:51
  you
• 35:51
  follow
• 35:51
  us
• 35:51
  on

• 35:52
  our
• 35:52
  social
• 35:52

• 35:53
  channels.
• 35:54
  So
• 35:54
  we
• 35:54
  were
• 35:54
  just
• 35:55
  talking
• 35:55
  about
• 35:55
  hiring
• 35:55
  a
• 35:55
  designer
• 35:56
  and
• 35:56
  the
• 35:56
  biggest
• 35:56
  thing
• 35:57
  here
• 35:57
  is
• 35:57
  to
• 35:57
  have
• 35:58
  somebody
• 35:58
  that
• 35:58
  knows
• 35:59
  a
• 35:59
  lot
• 35:59
  more
• 35:59
  about
• 35:59
  this
• 36:00
  than
• 36:00
  you.
• 36:01
  And
• 36:01
  that
• 36:01
  is
• 36:01
  to
• 36:01
  bring
• 36:01
  in
• 36:02
  somebody
• 36:02
  I
• 36:02
  prefer
• 36:03
  an
• 36:04
  NKBA
• 36:05

• 36:07
  here
• 36:07
  in
• 36:07
  the
• 36:07

• 36:07
  States,
• 36:08
  one
• 36:09
  of
• 36:09
  their
• 36:09
  certified
• 36:10
  kitchen
• 36:10
  and
• 36:10
  bath
• 36:10
  designers.
• 36:11
  I'm
• 36:11
  old
• 36:11
  school.
• 36:12
  I
• 36:12
  was
• 36:12
  a
• 36:12
  certified
• 36:13
  kitchen
• 36:13
  designer
• 36:13
  in
• 36:13
  1999,
• 36:15
  still
• 36:15
  am
• 36:16
  to
• 36:16
  this
• 36:16
  day,
• 36:17
  even
• 36:17
  though
• 36:17
  I'm
• 36:17
  a
• 36:17
  little
• 36:17
  more
• 36:17
  in
• 36:18
  the
• 36:18
  retired
• 36:18
  status
• 36:18
  because
• 36:19
  I'm
• 36:19
  not
• 36:19
  designing
• 36:19
  for
• 36:19
  clients
• 36:20
  anymore.
• 36:20
  But
• 36:21
  here's
• 36:21
  the
• 36:21
  thing.
• 36:22
  This
• 36:22
  is
• 36:23
  what
• 36:23
  you
• 36:23
  need
• 36:23
  to
• 36:24
  do
• 36:24
  this.
• 36:24
  These
• 36:25
  to
• 36:25
  get
• 36:25
  through
• 36:25
  this,
• 36:26
  they
• 36:26
  have
• 36:26
  to
• 36:27
  have
• 36:27
  years
• 36:27
  and
• 36:28
  years
• 36:28
  of
• 36:28
  experience.
• 36:28
  They
• 36:29
  have
• 36:29
  testing.
• 36:30
  They
• 36:30
  need
• 36:30
  to
• 36:30
  make
• 36:30
  sure
• 36:30
  that
• 36:31
  they
• 36:31
  know
• 36:31
  what
• 36:31
  they're
• 36:32
  doing.
• 36:32
  And
• 36:32
  these
• 36:33
  people
• 36:33
  are
• 36:33
  going
• 36:33
  to
• 36:33
  keep
• 36:33
  you
• 36:34
  out
• 36:34
  of
• 36:34
  issues.
• 36:34
  Is
• 36:34
  it
• 36:35
  going
• 36:35
  to
• 36:35
  be
• 36:35
  foolproof?
• 36:35
  No.
• 36:36
  But
• 36:36
  at
• 36:37
  least
• 36:37
  they
• 36:37
  have
• 36:37
  the
• 36:37
  basics
• 36:38
  to
• 36:38
  design
• 36:38
  you
• 36:39
  a
• 36:39
  great
• 36:40
  kitchen
• 36:40
  and
• 36:41
  to
• 36:41
  avoid
• 36:42
  those
• 36:42
  thousands
• 36:43
  of
• 36:43
  pitfalls.
• 36:44
  Because
• 36:44
  the
• 36:44
  last
• 36:44
  thing
• 36:45
  you
• 36:45
  want
• 36:45
  to
• 36:45
  do
• 36:45
  is
• 36:45
  exactly
• 36:46
  copy
• 36:46
  the
• 36:47
  plan
• 36:47
  you
• 36:47
  had
• 36:47
  before.
• 36:48
  That's
• 36:48
  a
• 36:48
  huge
• 36:49
  problem.
• 36:49
  And
• 36:50
  you
• 36:50
  don't
• 36:50
  want
• 36:50
  to
• 36:51
  do
• 36:51
  that
• 36:51
  because
• 36:52
  kitchen
• 36:53
  30
• 36:53
  years
• 36:53
  ago,
• 36:54
  we
• 36:54
  have
• 36:55
  a
• 36:55
  lot
• 36:55
  different
• 36:55
  things
• 36:55
  going
• 36:56
  in
• 36:56
  those
• 36:56
  kitchens.
• 36:56
  And
• 36:56
  the
• 36:57
  appliances
• 36:57
  are
• 36:57
  different.
• 36:57
  Lots
• 36:58
  of
• 36:58
  things
• 36:58
  are
• 36:58
  different.
• 36:59
  You
• 36:59
  want
• 36:59
  to
• 36:59
  start
• 36:59
  over
• 37:00
  with
• 37:00
  that
• 37:00
  new
• 37:01
  plan.
• 37:02
  So
• 37:02
  making
• 37:02
  sure
• 37:02
  you
• 37:03
  use
• 37:03
  a
• 37:03
  kitchen
• 37:03
  to
• 37:03
  bath
• 37:04
  designer.
• 37:04
  I
• 37:04
  like
• 37:04
  the
• 37:04
  certified
• 37:05
  ones.
• 37:06
  That's
• 37:06
  the
• 37:06
  way
• 37:06
  I
• 37:06
  would
• 37:06
  go.
• 37:07
  And
• 37:07
  they're
• 37:07
  really
• 37:08
  not
• 37:08
  going
• 37:08
  to
• 37:08
  charge
• 37:08
  you
• 37:08
  much
• 37:08
  more
• 37:09
  than
• 37:09
  Another
• 37:09
  designer.
• 37:10
  But
• 37:10
  make
• 37:10
  sure
• 37:11
  that
• 37:11
  they
• 37:11
  specialize
• 37:12
  in
• 37:12
  that,
• 37:13
  and
• 37:13
  that's
• 37:13
  going
• 37:13
  to
• 37:13
  save
• 37:13
  you
• 37:14
  money.
• 37:14
  So
• 37:15
  here's
• 37:15
  the
• 37:15
  debate
• 37:15
  here
• 37:16
  that
• 37:16
  this
• 37:16
  next
• 37:17
  one
• 37:17
  that
• 37:18
  I
• 37:18
  wanted
• 37:18
  to
• 37:18
  cover
• 37:19
  because
• 37:19
  it's
• 37:19
  a
• 37:19
  little
• 37:20
  controversial,
• 37:21
  is
• 37:21
  plywood
• 37:22
  better
• 37:23
  than
• 37:23
  furniture
• 37:24
  board
• 37:25
  or
• 37:25
  particle
• 37:25
  board?
• 37:26
  And
• 37:26
  to
• 37:27
  me,
• 37:27
  it's
• 37:28
  where
• 37:28
  are
• 37:28
  the
• 37:28
  materials
• 37:29
  coming
• 37:29
  from?
• 37:30
  If
• 37:30
  I'm
• 37:30
  getting
• 37:31
  something
• 37:31
  coming
• 37:31
  from
• 37:32
  a
• 37:32
  knockdown
• 37:33
  Southeast
• 37:33
  Asia
• 37:34
  company
• 37:34
  and
• 37:35
  they're
• 37:35
  not
• 37:35
  coming
• 37:35
  into
• 37:36
  California,
• 37:37
  they're
• 37:37
  coming
• 37:38
  in
• 37:38
  anywhere
• 37:38
  in
• 37:38
  the
• 37:39
  United
• 37:39
  States.
• 37:40
  I
• 37:40
  start
• 37:41
  to
• 37:41
  get
• 37:41
  really
• 37:41
  worried
• 37:42
  about
• 37:43
  is
• 37:43
  there
• 37:43
  formaldehyde
• 37:44
  or
• 37:44
  other
• 37:45
  bad
• 37:45
  chemicals
• 37:46
  in
• 37:47
  that
• 37:47
  plywood?
• 37:48
  Because
• 37:48
  formaldehyde
• 37:49
  glues
• 37:50
  work
• 37:50
  really
• 37:50
  well
• 37:50
  and
• 37:51
  they're
• 37:51
  cheap
• 37:51
  and
• 37:52
  they
• 37:52
  give
• 37:52
  off
• 37:53
  horrible
• 37:54
  chemical
• 37:55
  results.
• 37:55
  To
• 37:55
  many
• 37:56
  people
• 37:56
  out
• 37:56
  there,
• 37:56
  that's
• 37:57
  not
• 37:57
  healthy.
• 37:58
  Formaldehyde
• 37:59
  is
• 37:59
  great
• 37:59
  for
• 38:00
  embalming
• 38:01
  bodies,
• 38:02
  but
• 38:02
  it's
• 38:02
  not
• 38:03
  great
• 38:03
  to
• 38:03
  be
• 38:03
  in
• 38:03
  your
• 38:03
  cabinetry.
• 38:04
  Now
• 38:04
  from.
• 38:05
  Formaldehyde
• 38:05
  is
• 38:05
  natural.
• 38:06
  It
• 38:06
  should.
• 38:06
  There's.
• 38:07
  It
• 38:07
  can
• 38:07
  show
• 38:08
  up
• 38:08
  in
• 38:08
  an
• 38:08
  apple.
• 38:08
  It's
• 38:09
  there,
• 38:10
  but
• 38:10
  I
• 38:10
  don't
• 38:10
  want
• 38:11
  to
• 38:11
  have
• 38:11
  it
• 38:11
  added
• 38:12
  to
• 38:12
  my
• 38:12
  cabinetry.
• 38:14
  So
• 38:14
  import
• 38:15
  stuff.
• 38:15
  Yeah.
• 38:15
  Be
• 38:16
  careful
• 38:16
  of
• 38:16
  this.
• 38:16
  If
• 38:17
  you're
• 38:17
  buying
• 38:17
  something,
• 38:18
  I
• 38:18
  want
• 38:18
  to
• 38:18
  see
• 38:19
  plywood
• 38:19
  that
• 38:19
  it's
• 38:20
  certified.
• 38:20
  No
• 38:21
  added
• 38:21
  urea.
• 38:22
  Formaldehyde,
• 38:23
  that's
• 38:24
  what
• 38:24
  you
• 38:24
  look
• 38:24
  for.
• 38:25
  That
• 38:25
  knoff
• 38:26
  plywood.
• 38:27
  That's
• 38:27
  a
• 38:27
  big
• 38:27
  one.
• 38:28
  Now
• 38:28
  here's
• 38:28
  the
• 38:28
  problem.
• 38:29
  Is
• 38:29
  it
• 38:29
  more
• 38:29
  water
• 38:30
  resistant?
• 38:30
  Not
• 38:30
  usually.
• 38:31
  If
• 38:32
  you
• 38:32
  get
• 38:32
  a
• 38:32
  leak
• 38:32
  under
• 38:32
  the
• 38:32
  sink
• 38:33
  and
• 38:33
  it's
• 38:33
  a
• 38:33
  plywood
• 38:34
  base
• 38:34
  versus
• 38:35
  a
• 38:35
  particle
• 38:35
  board,
• 38:35
  the
• 38:35
  part
• 38:36
  of
• 38:36
  particle
• 38:36
  board
• 38:37
  is
• 38:37
  going
• 38:37
  to
• 38:37
  warp,
• 38:37
  the
• 38:37
  plywood
• 38:38
  is
• 38:38
  going
• 38:38
  to
• 38:38
  warp,
• 38:39
  the
• 38:39
  finish
• 38:39
  on
• 38:39
  top
• 38:40
  is
• 38:40
  going
• 38:40
  to
• 38:40
  come
• 38:40
  off.
• 38:41
  The
• 38:41
  difference
• 38:41
  is
• 38:42
  usually
• 38:42
  when
• 38:42
  you've
• 38:42
  got
• 38:42
  the
• 38:43
  white,
• 38:43
  you've
• 38:43
  got
• 38:43
  the
• 38:43
  melamine
• 38:44
  on
• 38:44
  there,
• 38:44
  which
• 38:45
  is
• 38:45
  a
• 38:45
  little
• 38:45
  more
• 38:45
  durable
• 38:46
  than
• 38:47
  the
• 38:47
  like
• 38:48
  eurobox
• 38:49
  or
• 38:49
  whatever
• 38:49
  that
• 38:50
  wood
• 38:50
  is.
• 38:50
  Whether
• 38:50
  it's
• 38:51
  a
• 38:51
  birch
• 38:52
  or
• 38:52
  a
• 38:52
  maple
• 38:52
  ply
• 38:53
  that's
• 38:53
  got
• 38:53
  a
• 38:53
  clear
• 38:54
  coat
• 38:54
  on
• 38:54
  it.
• 38:54
  That
• 38:55
  coating
• 38:55
  usually
• 38:56
  on
• 38:56
  that
• 38:57
  white
• 38:57
  melamine
• 38:58
  or
• 38:58
  maple
• 38:59
  melamine
• 38:59
  or
• 38:59
  whatever
• 38:59
  it
• 38:59
  is
• 39:00
  as.
• 39:00
  Or
• 39:00
  more
• 39:00
  durable,
• 39:01
  depending
• 39:01
  on
• 39:01
  how
• 39:01
  they
• 39:02
  built
• 39:02
  the
• 39:02
  box.
• 39:03
  Yeah.
• 39:03
  And
• 39:03
  the
• 39:03
  other
• 39:04
  thing
• 39:04
  is
• 39:04
  the
• 39:05
  particle
• 39:05
  board
• 39:06
  is
• 39:06
  very
• 39:07
  accurate
• 39:08
  in
• 39:09
  a
• 39:09
  cabinet
• 39:09
  plan.
• 39:10
  That
• 39:10
  a
• 39:10
  half
• 39:10
  inch
• 39:11
  is
• 39:11
  half
• 39:11
  inch.
• 39:11
  5,
• 39:11
  8
• 39:12
  is
• 39:12
  5
• 39:12
  8.
• 39:12
  Whatever
• 39:13
  it
• 39:13
  is,
• 39:13
  that's
• 39:14
  what
• 39:14
  it
• 39:14
  is.
• 39:15
  The
• 39:15
  bigger
• 39:16
  problem
• 39:16
  gets
• 39:16
  in
• 39:17
  when
• 39:17
  they're
• 39:17
  building
• 39:17
  cabinet
• 39:18
  boxes
• 39:18
  because
• 39:19
  plywood
• 39:20
  is
• 39:20
  three
• 39:20
  quarter.
• 39:20
  Plywood
• 39:21
  is
• 39:21
  not
• 39:21
  three
• 39:22
  quarter.
• 39:23
  It's
• 39:23
  how
• 39:23
  many.
• 39:24
  It's
• 39:24
  close.
• 39:25
  But
• 39:25
  I've
• 39:25
  had
• 39:26
  long
• 39:26
  kitchen
• 39:27
  runs
• 39:27
  that
• 39:28
  you
• 39:28
  design
• 39:28
  out.
• 39:29
  This
• 39:29
  is
• 39:29
  why
• 39:29
  you
• 39:29
  need
• 39:30
  to
• 39:30
  use
• 39:30
  fillers
• 39:31
  wall
• 39:31
  to
• 39:31
  wall.
• 39:32
  I've
• 39:32
  seen
• 39:32
  an
• 39:32
  inch
• 39:33
  grow
• 39:33
  out
• 39:34
  of
• 39:34
  cabinets
• 39:34
  because
• 39:35
  that
• 39:36
  plywood
• 39:36
  was
• 39:36
  a
• 39:37
  little
• 39:37
  thicker
• 39:37
  than
• 39:38
  3/4.
• 39:39
  And
• 39:39
  if
• 39:39
  you
• 39:39
  add
• 39:39
  a
• 39:40
  16th
• 39:42
  cabinets,
• 39:43
  guess
• 39:43
  what
• 39:43
  happens?
• 39:44
  You've
• 39:44
  added
• 39:44
  more
• 39:45
  than
• 39:45
  an
• 39:45
  inch
• 39:45
  because
• 39:45
  you've
• 39:45
  got
• 39:46
  two
• 39:46
  sides.
• 39:47
  So
• 39:47
  this
• 39:48
  is
• 39:48
  where
• 39:48
  you've
• 39:48
  got
• 39:48
  to
• 39:48
  be
• 39:49
  really
• 39:49
  careful
• 39:50
  with
• 39:50
  what's
• 39:50
  going
• 39:51
  on
• 39:51
  in
• 39:51
  those
• 39:51
  cabinet
• 39:51
  boxes.
• 39:52
  Plywood
• 39:53
  can
• 39:54
  be
• 39:54
  a
• 39:54
  pain
• 39:54
  sometimes
• 39:55
  because
• 39:56
  I
• 39:56
  know
• 39:56
  that
• 39:56
  the
• 39:57
  cabinet
• 39:57
  shops
• 39:57
  are
• 39:57
  not
• 39:58
  sitting
• 39:58
  there
• 39:59
  before
• 39:59
  they
• 39:59
  put
• 39:59
  it
• 39:59
  into
• 39:59
  the
• 40:00
  CNC
• 40:00
  machine.
• 40:01
  Most
• 40:02
  of
• 40:02
  them
• 40:02
  are
• 40:02
  not
• 40:02
  miking
• 40:03
  that
• 40:03
  off
• 40:04
  to
• 40:04
  let
• 40:04
  you
• 40:04
  know
• 40:05
  what
• 40:05
  the
• 40:05
  internal
• 40:05
  cabinet
• 40:06
  parts
• 40:06
  are.
• 40:07
  And
• 40:07
  if
• 40:07
  those
• 40:07
  sides
• 40:07
  are
• 40:08
  a
• 40:08
  little
• 40:08
  bit
• 40:08
  thicker,
• 40:09
  that's
• 40:09
  going
• 40:09
  to
• 40:09
  make
• 40:09
  it
• 40:10
  up
• 40:10
  on
• 40:10
  the
• 40:10
  outside
• 40:11
  because
• 40:12
  most
• 40:12
  of
• 40:12
  the
• 40:12
  time
• 40:13
  that's
• 40:13
  where
• 40:13
  that's
• 40:13
  going
• 40:13
  to
• 40:13
  show
• 40:14
  up.
• 40:14
  So
• 40:15
  be
• 40:15
  very
• 40:15
  careful
• 40:15
  with
• 40:15
  that.
• 40:16
  That's
• 40:16
  where
• 40:16
  you
• 40:17
  run
• 40:17
  into
• 40:17
  problems.
• 40:17
  My
• 40:18
  house,
• 40:19
  I
• 40:19
  did
• 40:19
  particle
• 40:19
  board
• 40:20
  because
• 40:20
  I
• 40:21
  didn't
• 40:22
  see
• 40:22
  the
• 40:22
  value
• 40:23
  of
• 40:23
  an
• 40:23
  extra
• 40:23
  15%.
• 40:24
  And
• 40:25
  that
• 40:25
  was
• 40:25
  me.
• 40:26
  Now
• 40:26
  I
• 40:26
  could
• 40:26
  have
• 40:26
  spent
• 40:26
  more
• 40:27
  for
• 40:27
  it.
• 40:27
  I
• 40:27
  just
• 40:27
  didn't
• 40:27
  because
• 40:28
  I
• 40:28
  just
• 40:28
  didn't
• 40:28
  see
• 40:28
  the
• 40:28
  value.
• 40:29
  So
• 40:29
  that's
• 40:29
  what
• 40:30
  you're
• 40:30
  going
• 40:30
  to
• 40:30
  have
• 40:30
  to
• 40:30
  decide
• 40:31
  on
• 40:31
  what
• 40:31
  you
• 40:32
  want
• 40:32
  to
• 40:32
  do.
• 40:32
  Plywood
• 40:33
  is
• 40:33
  going
• 40:33
  to
• 40:33
  be
• 40:33
  a
• 40:34
  little
• 40:34
  stronger
• 40:34
  many
• 40:34
  times.
• 40:35
  Yeah.
• 40:35
  If
• 40:35
  you've
• 40:35
  got
• 40:36
  kids,
• 40:37
  you're
• 40:37
  not
• 40:37
  going
• 40:37
  to
• 40:37
  rip
• 40:37
  out
• 40:38
  drawer
• 40:38
  glides
• 40:38
  as
• 40:38
  easy.
• 40:39
  You're
• 40:39
  not
• 40:39
  going
• 40:39
  to
• 40:39
  rip
• 40:39
  out
• 40:40
  hinges
• 40:41
  as
• 40:41
  easy.
• 40:41
  But
• 40:41
  most
• 40:41
  of
• 40:41
  the
• 40:41
  time
• 40:42
  you
• 40:42
  break
• 40:42
  the
• 40:42
  door
• 40:42
  anyway.
• 40:43
  That's
• 40:43
  the
• 40:43
  weak
• 40:43
  point.
• 40:44
  So
• 40:44
  I
• 40:44
  wouldn't
• 40:45
  worry
• 40:45
  so
• 40:45
  much
• 40:45
  about
• 40:45
  that.
• 40:46
  So
• 40:46
  be
• 40:46
  careful
• 40:47
  on
• 40:47
  those
• 40:47
  upsells.
• 40:47
  That
• 40:48
  can
• 40:48
  be
• 40:48
  an
• 40:48
  issue.
• 40:49
  So
• 40:49
  the
• 40:49
  next
• 40:50
  one
• 40:50
  here
• 40:50
  is
• 40:50
  interesting
• 40:51
  and
• 40:51
  this
• 40:51
  is
• 40:52
  my
• 40:52
  best
• 40:52
  advice
• 40:53
  to
• 40:53
  you
• 40:53
  guys
• 40:53
  out
• 40:53
  there.
• 40:54
  Focus
• 40:54
  on
• 40:55
  made
• 40:55
  in
• 40:55
  USA
• 40:56
  products
• 40:56
  with
• 40:56
  cabinetry.
• 40:57
  Even
• 40:58
  though
• 40:59
  many,
• 41:00
  if
• 41:00
  not
• 41:00
  all,
• 41:01
  I'm
• 41:01
  gonna
• 41:01
  go
• 41:02
  with
• 41:02
  many
• 41:03
  of
• 41:03
  the
• 41:03
  companies
• 41:04
  that
• 41:04
  you
• 41:04
  see
• 41:05
  selling
• 41:06
  cabinets
• 41:06
  at
• 41:06
  a
• 41:06
  Lowe's,
• 41:07
  Home
• 41:07
  Depot,
• 41:08
  those
• 41:08
  big
• 41:08
  box
• 41:08
  stores,
• 41:10
  most
• 41:10
  of
• 41:10
  them
• 41:11
  are
• 41:11
  shipping
• 41:12
  plywood
• 41:13
  and
• 41:13
  particle
• 41:13
  board
• 41:14
  to
• 41:15
  southeast
• 41:15
  Asia.
• 41:16
  Having
• 41:16
  it
• 41:16
  cut,
• 41:17
  shipping
• 41:17
  it
• 41:17
  back.
• 41:18
  Because
• 41:18
  they
• 41:18
  can
• 41:18
  do
• 41:18
  it
• 41:19
  cheaper
• 41:19
  there
• 41:20
  than
• 41:20
  they
• 41:20
  can
• 41:20
  in
• 41:20
  the
• 41:21
  states.
• 41:21
  Many
• 41:22
  of
• 41:22
  these
• 41:22
  guys
• 41:23
  are
• 41:23
  importing
• 41:24
  cut
• 41:24
  parts
• 41:25
  and
• 41:25
  they
• 41:26
  are
• 41:26
  assembled
• 41:27
  in
• 41:27
  the
• 41:27
  u.
• 41:28
  S.
• 41:28
  But
• 41:29
  not
• 41:29
  all
• 41:30
  of
• 41:30
  the
• 41:30
  cut
• 41:30
  parts
• 41:31
  are
• 41:32
  made
• 41:32
  in
• 41:32
  the
• 41:32
  US
• 41:33
  and
• 41:33
  that's
• 41:33
  how
• 41:33
  they're
• 41:34
  saving
• 41:34
  on
• 41:34
  labor.
• 41:35
  And
• 41:35
  that
• 41:35
  is.
• 41:36
  We'll
• 41:36
  talk
• 41:36
  about
• 41:36
  this.
• 41:36
  I'm
• 41:37
  going
• 41:37
  to
• 41:37
  bring
• 41:37
  the
• 41:37
  kitchen
• 41:38
  cabinet
• 41:38
  manufacturers
• 41:39
  association
• 41:40
  on
• 41:40
  down
• 41:41
  the
• 41:41
  road
• 41:41
  here,
• 41:42
  working
• 41:42
  on
• 41:42
  setting
• 41:42
  up
• 41:43
  a
• 41:43
  detail
• 41:43
  here
• 41:43
  after
• 41:43
  the
• 41:44
  holidays
• 41:44
  with
• 41:44
  them.
• 41:45
  But
• 41:45
  I'm
• 41:45
  going
• 41:45
  to
• 41:45
  have
• 41:45
  them
• 41:45
  come
• 41:46
  on.
• 41:46
  We're
• 41:46
  going
• 41:46
  to
• 41:46
  talk
• 41:46
  about
• 41:47
  some
• 41:47
  of
• 41:47
  this
• 41:47
  unspoken
• 41:48
  stuff
• 41:48
  that's
• 41:49
  happening
• 41:49
  out
• 41:49
  there.
• 41:50
  Make
• 41:50
  sure
• 41:50
  you're
• 41:51
  buying
• 41:51
  the
• 41:51
  made
• 41:51
  in
• 41:51
  USA
• 41:52
  stuff
• 41:52
  when
• 41:52
  you
• 41:52
  can.
• 41:52
  Guys,
• 41:53
  let's
• 41:53
  support
• 41:53
  these
• 41:54
  local
• 41:54
  cabinet
• 41:54
  companies.
• 41:55
  And
• 41:56
  not
• 41:56
  be
• 41:56
  supporting
• 41:57
  some
• 41:57
  of
• 41:57
  the
• 41:57
  other
• 41:58
  companies
• 41:58
  that
• 41:58
  have
• 41:58
  been
• 41:59
  dumping
• 42:00
  and
• 42:00
  or
• 42:00
  have
• 42:01
  tariffs
• 42:01
  on
• 42:01
  them
• 42:01
  because
• 42:01
  they've
• 42:02
  been
• 42:02
  putting
• 42:02
  it
• 42:02
  into
• 42:02
  the
• 42:02
  US
• 42:03
  Cheaper
• 42:03
  than
• 42:03
  the
• 42:03
  raw
• 42:04
  materials.
• 42:04
  Even
• 42:05
  are
• 42:05
  trying
• 42:06
  to
• 42:06
  put
• 42:06
  out
• 42:07
  American
• 42:07
  jobs.
• 42:08
  I
• 42:08
  don't
• 42:08
  like
• 42:08
  that.
• 42:09
  I
• 42:09
  think
• 42:10
  we
• 42:10
  should
• 42:10
  support
• 42:10
  our
• 42:10
  made
• 42:10
  in
• 42:11
  USA
• 42:11
  companies,
• 42:12
  even
• 42:12
  made
• 42:12
  in
• 42:12
  North
• 42:13
  America.
• 42:13
  I
• 42:13
  don't
• 42:13
  care
• 42:13
  if
• 42:13
  it's
• 42:13
  coming
• 42:14
  out
• 42:14
  of
• 42:14
  Canada.
• 42:14
  That's
• 42:15
  fine.
• 42:15
  I
• 42:15
  love
• 42:16
  our
• 42:16
  neighbors
• 42:16
  to
• 42:16
  the
• 42:16
  north.
• 42:17
  A
• 42:17
  lot
• 42:17
  of
• 42:17
  the
• 42:17
  woods
• 42:17
  are
• 42:17
  coming
• 42:18
  out
• 42:18
  of
• 42:18
  there
• 42:18
  anyway.
• 42:19
  But
• 42:19
  you
• 42:19
  see
• 42:19
  where
• 42:19
  I'm
• 42:20
  getting
• 42:20
  at.
• 42:20
  Let's
• 42:21
  support
• 42:21
  local
• 42:22
  as
• 42:22
  best
• 42:22
  we
• 42:23
  can.
• 42:23
  Now,
• 42:24
  the
• 42:24
  next
• 42:24
  one
• 42:24
  here
• 42:25
  is
• 42:25
  interesting.
• 42:26
  The
• 42:26
  cabinet
• 42:26
  layout
• 42:27
  and
• 42:27
  design
• 42:27
  is
• 42:27
  just
• 42:28
  as
• 42:28
  important
• 42:28
  as
• 42:28
  the
• 42:28
  cabinetry
• 42:29
  itself.
• 42:30
  So
• 42:30
  make
• 42:30
  sure
• 42:31
  that
• 42:31
  you're
• 42:31
  spending
• 42:32
  that
• 42:32
  time
• 42:33
  on
• 42:33
  the
• 42:33
  design
• 42:33
  and
• 42:34
  the
• 42:34
  layout,
• 42:35
  paying
• 42:35
  attention.
• 42:36
  When
• 42:36
  I
• 42:37
  design
• 42:37
  things
• 42:37
  out,
• 42:38
  things
• 42:38
  to
• 42:38
  look
• 42:38
  for.
• 42:39
  These
• 42:39
  are
• 42:40
  things
• 42:40
  to
• 42:40
  look
• 42:40
  for,
• 42:40
  things
• 42:41
  that
• 42:41
  I
• 42:41
  go,
• 42:41
  hey,
• 42:41
  we
• 42:42
  need
• 42:42
  to
• 42:42
  do
• 42:42
  this.
• 42:43
  This
• 42:43
  is
• 42:43
  important
• 42:44
  stuff,
• 42:45
  really.
• 42:45
  When
• 42:45
  it
• 42:46
  comes
• 42:46
  down
• 42:46
  to
• 42:46
  it,
• 42:47
  you
• 42:47
  think
• 42:48
  about
• 42:48
  zones
• 42:49
  in
• 42:49
  the
• 42:49
  kitchen.
• 42:49
  It
• 42:49
  used
• 42:50
  to
• 42:50
  be
• 42:50
  20
• 42:51
  years
• 42:51
  ago,
• 42:51
  and
• 42:51
  some
• 42:52
  people
• 42:52
  still
• 42:52
  do
• 42:52
  it
• 42:52
  today.
• 42:53
  They
• 42:53
  think
• 42:53
  of
• 42:53
  this
• 42:54
  kitchen
• 42:54
  triangle,
• 42:54
  which
• 42:55
  is
• 42:55
  basically
• 42:56
  the
• 42:56
  cooking
• 42:57
  surface,
• 42:57
  the
• 42:58
  cooktop,
• 42:59
  the
• 42:59
  sink,
• 42:59
  and
• 42:59
  the
• 42:59
  refrigerator.
• 43:00
  I
• 43:00
  do
• 43:01
  it
• 43:01
  differently.
• 43:02
  I
• 43:02
  do
• 43:03
  cooking
• 43:03
  zones
• 43:04
  where
• 43:04
  I
• 43:04
  have
• 43:05
  a
• 43:05
  prep
• 43:05
  zone,
• 43:06
  a
• 43:06
  cleanup
• 43:06
  zone,
• 43:07
  those
• 43:07
  kind
• 43:08
  of
• 43:08
  things.
• 43:09
  So
• 43:09
  if
• 43:09
  I
• 43:10
  have
• 43:10
  a
• 43:10
  sink
• 43:10
  on
• 43:10
  a
• 43:11
  wall
• 43:12
  and
• 43:12
  my
• 43:13
  range
• 43:13
  is
• 43:14
  over
• 43:14
  there
• 43:14
  to
• 43:14
  the
• 43:14
  right,
• 43:15
  or
• 43:15
  my
• 43:15
  cooktop
• 43:15
  is
• 43:16
  to
• 43:16
  the
• 43:16
  right,
• 43:17
  I
• 43:17
  don't
• 43:17
  want
• 43:17
  to
• 43:17
  put
• 43:17
  the
• 43:17
  dishwasher
• 43:18
  in
• 43:18
  there
• 43:19
  because
• 43:20
  I
• 43:20
  now
• 43:20
  I'm
• 43:20
  putting
• 43:21
  my
• 43:21
  cleanup
• 43:22
  and
• 43:22
  my
• 43:22
  prep
• 43:23
  zone
• 43:23
  in
• 43:23
  the
• 43:23
  same
• 43:23
  area.
• 43:24
  So
• 43:24
  in
• 43:24
  that
• 43:25
  situation,
• 43:25
  I
• 43:25
  always
• 43:25
  want
• 43:26
  to
• 43:26
  put
• 43:26
  the
• 43:26
  dishwasher
• 43:27
  to
• 43:27
  the
• 43:27
  left.
• 43:28
  So
• 43:28
  that
• 43:28
  way
• 43:28
  all
• 43:29
  the
• 43:29
  dirty
• 43:29
  dishes
• 43:29
  stay
• 43:30
  in
• 43:30
  the
• 43:30
  left
• 43:30
  of
• 43:30
  the
• 43:30
  sink.
• 43:31
  You
• 43:31
  can
• 43:31
  put
• 43:31
  the
• 43:31
  trash
• 43:32
  can
• 43:32
  below
• 43:32
  it
• 43:32
  on
• 43:33
  the
• 43:33
  right.
• 43:34
  Here's
• 43:34
  why.
• 43:35
  So
• 43:35
  think
• 43:35
  about
• 43:35
  this.
• 43:36
  You're
• 43:36
  standing
• 43:36
  at
• 43:36
  the
• 43:36
  sink.
• 43:37
  Visualize
• 43:37
  this
• 43:37
  with
• 43:38
  me
• 43:38
  here,
• 43:38
  guys.
• 43:39
  If
• 43:39
  I've
• 43:39
  got
• 43:40
  my
• 43:40
  dishwasher
• 43:41
  to
• 43:42
  the
• 43:42
  left
• 43:42
  and
• 43:43
  my
• 43:43
  range
• 43:43
  to
• 43:43
  the
• 43:44
  right,
• 43:44
  I
• 43:44
  want
• 43:45
  to
• 43:45
  put
• 43:45
  my
• 43:45
  trash
• 43:45
  can
• 43:46
  in
• 43:46
  a
• 43:46
  cabinet
• 43:46
  below
• 43:47
  on
• 43:47
  the
• 43:47
  right.
• 43:48
  So
• 43:48
  then
• 43:48
  when
• 43:48
  I'm
• 43:48
  prepping,
• 43:49
  I
• 43:49
  can
• 43:49
  throw
• 43:49
  it
• 43:49
  down
• 43:50
  below,
• 43:50
  and
• 43:50
  if
• 43:50
  I'm
• 43:51
  loading
• 43:51
  my
• 43:51
  dishwasher
• 43:52
  to
• 43:52
  left,
• 43:52
  I
• 43:52
  can
• 43:52
  scrape
• 43:53
  stuff
• 43:53
  off
• 43:53
  into
• 43:54
  the
• 43:54
  trash
• 43:54
  on
• 43:54
  the
• 43:54
  right
• 43:55
  side
• 43:55
  and
• 43:55
  put
• 43:55
  stuff
• 43:56
  in
• 43:56
  the
• 43:56
  left.
• 43:57
  So
• 43:57
  these
• 43:57
  are
• 43:57
  all
• 43:58
  the
• 43:58
  things
• 43:58
  that
• 43:58
  you
• 43:58
  should
• 43:58
  be
• 43:58
  thinking
• 43:59
  about
• 43:59
  as
• 43:59
  you
• 43:59
  design
• 44:00
  out
• 44:00
  that
• 44:00
  kitchen
• 44:01
  and
• 44:01
  making
• 44:01
  it
• 44:01
  work
• 44:02
  correctly.
• 44:03
  So
• 44:03
  this
• 44:03
  is
• 44:03
  where
• 44:04
  you
• 44:04
  plan
• 44:04
  and
• 44:05
  fix
• 44:05
  those
• 44:06
  design
• 44:06
  issues
• 44:06
  that
• 44:07
  they
• 44:07
  put
• 44:07
  in
• 44:07
  30
• 44:07
  years
• 44:08
  ago
• 44:08
  that
• 44:08
  didn't
• 44:08
  really
• 44:08
  matter
• 44:09
  then,
• 44:10
  that
• 44:10
  really
• 44:11
  matter
• 44:11
  now.
• 44:12
  And
• 44:12
  that's
• 44:12
  a
• 44:12
  big
• 44:13
  one.
• 44:13
  So
• 44:13
  think
• 44:14
  about
• 44:14
  how
• 44:14
  these
• 44:14
  things
• 44:15
  all
• 44:15
  work
• 44:15
  together
• 44:16
  and
• 44:16
  of
• 44:16
  course
• 44:17
  how
• 44:17
  everything
• 44:18
  plays
• 44:18
  together
• 44:19
  in
• 44:19
  the
• 44:19
  kitchen
• 44:19
  and
• 44:19
  where
• 44:19
  you're
• 44:20
  going
• 44:20
  to
• 44:20
  store
• 44:20
  stuff.
• 44:21
  Glass
• 44:21
  doors,
• 44:22
  awesome.
• 44:23
  Except
• 44:23
  they're
• 44:23
  display.
• 44:24
  It's
• 44:24
  not
• 44:24
  where
• 44:24
  you
• 44:24
  put
• 44:24
  the
• 44:24
  Cheerios
• 44:25
  unless
• 44:26
  you've
• 44:26
  got
• 44:26
  extra
• 44:27
  storage.
• 44:27
  Maybe
• 44:28
  think
• 44:28
  twice
• 44:28
  about
• 44:28
  glass
• 44:29
  unless
• 44:29
  you're
• 44:29
  okay
• 44:30
  with
• 44:31
  seeing
• 44:31
  everything
• 44:31
  that's
• 44:32
  in
• 44:32
  your
• 44:32
  cabinets.
• 44:33
  It'll
• 44:33
  control
• 44:33
  dust,
• 44:34
  but
• 44:34
  that's
• 44:35
  a
• 44:35
  big
• 44:35
  one.
• 44:35
  Now,
• 44:36
  my
• 44:36
  last
• 44:36
  one
• 44:36
  here
• 44:37
  before
• 44:37
  we
• 44:37
  go
• 44:37
  out
• 44:37
  to
• 44:37
  break
• 44:38
  is
• 44:38
  important
• 44:40
  and
• 44:40
  quite
• 44:40
  frankly
• 44:41
  it's
• 44:41
  super
• 44:41
  regional
• 44:42
  as
• 44:42
  well.
• 44:43
  But
• 44:43
  here
• 44:43
  are
• 44:43
  my
• 44:44
  rules.
• 44:44
  I
• 44:45
  don't
• 44:45
  like
• 44:46
  finish
• 44:46
  in
• 44:46
  place
• 44:47
  cabinetry.
• 44:47
  There
• 44:48
  is
• 44:48
  no
• 44:48
  reason
• 44:49
  why
• 44:50
  raw
• 44:50
  cabinets
• 44:51
  should
• 44:51
  be
• 44:52
  showing
• 44:52
  up
• 44:52
  in
• 44:52
  the
• 44:52
  field
• 44:53
  and
• 44:53
  they're
• 44:54
  going
• 44:54
  to
• 44:54
  be
• 44:54
  stained
• 44:55
  at
• 44:55
  the
• 44:56
  project.
• 44:56
  Those
• 44:57
  should
• 44:57
  be
• 44:57
  finished
• 44:58
  at
• 44:58
  the
• 44:58
  shop
• 44:58
  and
• 44:59
  taken
• 44:59
  care
• 44:59
  of.
• 45:00
  I
• 45:00
  can
• 45:01
  see
• 45:01
  with
• 45:01
  moldings
• 45:02
  why
• 45:02
  it
• 45:03
  would
• 45:03
  make
• 45:03
  sense
• 45:03
  to
• 45:04
  finish
• 45:05
  in
• 45:05
  place.
• 45:05
  But
• 45:06
  if
• 45:06
  you've
• 45:06
  got
• 45:06
  a
• 45:06
  great
• 45:06
  carpenter,
• 45:07
  they
• 45:07
  can
• 45:07
  make
• 45:07
  that
• 45:08
  look
• 45:08
  amazing
• 45:09
  on
• 45:09
  the
• 45:09
  install.
• 45:10
  Finished
• 45:11
  in
• 45:11
  place
• 45:11
  cabinetry,
• 45:12
  though
• 45:13
  it's
• 45:13
  hot,
• 45:14
  especially
• 45:14
  with
• 45:14
  painted
• 45:15
  in
• 45:15
  certain
• 45:15
  parts
• 45:15
  of
• 45:15
  the
• 45:15
  country
• 45:16
  does
• 45:17
  not
• 45:17
  give
• 45:17
  you
• 45:17
  as
• 45:17
  good
• 45:17
  a
• 45:18
  finish.
• 45:18
  It's
• 45:19
  a
• 45:19
  softer
• 45:19
  finish
• 45:20
  than
• 45:20
  anything
• 45:21
  you're
• 45:21
  going
• 45:21
  to
• 45:21
  get
• 45:21
  that's
• 45:22
  factory
• 45:22
  applied.
• 45:23
  I
• 45:23
  like
• 45:24
  a
• 45:24
  baked
• 45:25
  on
• 45:25
  finish
• 45:25
  where
• 45:26
  the
• 45:26
  computer
• 45:27
  comes
• 45:27
  through
• 45:27
  and
• 45:28
  uses
• 45:28
  the
• 45:28
  robot
• 45:29
  on
• 45:29
  a
• 45:29
  flatline
• 45:30
  finishing
• 45:30
  system,
• 45:31
  finishes
• 45:31
  all
• 45:32
  the
• 45:32
  doors
• 45:32
  and
• 45:32
  drawer
• 45:32
  fronts,
• 45:33
  puts
• 45:33
  the
• 45:33
  right
• 45:34
  mill
• 45:34
  thickness
• 45:35
  in
• 45:35
  a
• 45:36
  hermetically
• 45:37
  sealed
• 45:37
  clean
• 45:38
  area
• 45:39
  and
• 45:39
  bakes
• 45:39
  it
• 45:40
  on
• 45:40
  and
• 45:40
  goes
• 45:41
  out
• 45:41
  to
• 45:41
  the
• 45:41
  job
• 45:41
  site.
• 45:42
  I'm
• 45:42
  Eric
• 45:43
  G.
• 45:43
  And
• 45:43
  you've
• 45:43
  been
• 45:43
  listening
• 45:44
  to
• 45:44
  around
• 45:45
  the
• 45:45
  House.
