763. Alysa Liu - The Gold Medal Nobody Saw Coming

No Days Off with Brian Gubernick · Mar 3, 2026 · 8m

Less than four years before winning Olympic gold, Alyssa Liu quit.

Not because she lacked talent, but because she was burned out.

In this episode, Brian breaks down why her comeback worked. The first time, skating belonged to everyone else. The second time, it was hers. Her coach. Her music. Her terms. That ownership changed everything.

For entrepreneurs grinding through success that no longer feels fulfilling, this is your reminder: performance without joy isn't sustainable. Sometimes the reset is what unlocks your best work.
