- 1:03Speaker 3: This is actually the five hundredth episode and it's only right.
- 1:08Speaker 3: We have quite possibly the greatest of all time Snoop
- 1:12Speaker 3: Dogg five hundred, five hundred.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Man, that's crazy. I like that number.
- 1:17Speaker 3: It's a great number.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, times five, yo.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I gotta tell you. I always tell the story about
- 1:25Speaker 3: how your album Dog You Style like changed the trajectory
- 1:29Speaker 3: of my life. M because when I was like six
- 1:32Speaker 3: years old, my grandma You remember, Columbia House used to
- 1:36Speaker 3: send like fifteen out albums for like a penny.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Sure, So my grandma somehow got DOGI Style in the
- 1:42Speaker 3: maule on tape.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Good shot shot off to Grandma.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I wanted to keep it, but she had no I
- 1:47Speaker 3: don't think she meant to.
- 1:48Speaker 2: It the fuck. She did the right thing, good shit, Granny.
- 1:51Speaker 1: See, I'm a grandfather, so sometimes grandparents do shit that
- 1:55Speaker 1: y'all don't understand.
- 1:56Speaker 3: So it was like, obviously a cartoon cover, so that's
- 1:59Speaker 3: what she went for. So she gave it to me,
- 2:02Speaker 3: and I fucking like, within I don't know three weeks,
- 2:06Speaker 3: knew the whole album, like front to back, every skit
- 2:08Speaker 3: by heart. I mean literally, by the time my mom
- 2:11Speaker 3: heard me listening to it and took it from me,
- 2:12Speaker 3: it was too late. It was over with and your sister,
- 2:15Speaker 3: it was over.
- 2:15Speaker 2: When your DNA.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yes, let it go, Grandma. I got to get Grandma
- 2:19Speaker 1: shout out. Man, that's see, that's g ship right there.
- 2:21Speaker 1: When your grandparents have a forward way of thinking and
- 2:24Speaker 1: knowing that my grandson is going to be somebody, I
- 2:27Speaker 1: got to put this in his DNA to make sure
- 2:29Speaker 1: when he gets to the point where he's at that
- 2:31Speaker 1: it's all way any and not only.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, always say that that that album to change my life.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Man, thank you boy.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I'm here, I'm here, I'm here a lot because the
- 2:38Speaker 3: dog style bro that album.
- 2:41Speaker 1: That album was a It was a fun experience because
- 2:45Speaker 1: being a young rapper and being so infatuated with Doctor
- 2:48Speaker 1: Tryan and wa being able to work with him on
- 2:50Speaker 1: the Chronic and then to say okay, it's my turn
- 2:53Speaker 1: for my album you mean already like right now? Like yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 1: Like that was an amazing because I had all my
- 3:00Speaker 1: homies with me too, the people that I had started with,
- 3:03Speaker 1: the people that you know watched me growing to the
- 3:05Speaker 1: MC that I became, and then to have Doctor dre
- 3:08Speaker 1: perfect my craft with DC and the whole team, it
- 3:12Speaker 1: was a blessing.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yo.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I was curious, like the like were you the brain
- 3:17Speaker 3: child behind the skits? Because when we're talking about like
- 3:20Speaker 3: using skips, skits within an album, just memorable skits, I
- 3:23Speaker 3: think about the beginning of Jesu and Hustlers with like
- 3:25Speaker 3: the school Teacher and even like the bathtub intro, the
- 3:30Speaker 3: Murder was the case intro, Like I feel like skits
- 3:33Speaker 3: are a lost art form and I can't think of
- 3:36Speaker 3: more iconic skits than on Doggy Style.
- 3:38Speaker 2: That's the fact.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Well, you got to understand, Doctor Dre was learning me.
- 3:41Speaker 1: We had just finished the Chronic album. We just forged
- 3:43Speaker 1: the friendship. We had been together for about a year,
- 3:46Speaker 1: and we started like hanging together like every day, like
- 3:49Speaker 1: just me and him, like and we pulled away from
- 3:51Speaker 1: everybody else. So he was learning the things that I
- 3:54Speaker 1: loved and liked while he was crafting my album. And
- 3:57Speaker 1: when we would be together, we would always either listen
- 4:01Speaker 1: to old school music or I will pop in the
- 4:02Speaker 1: VCR of an old black you know, explotation movie and
- 4:06Speaker 1: he would get that and get my spirit and say, Okay,
- 4:09Speaker 1: when we make your record, not only do I have
- 4:11Speaker 1: to capture your sound, but I gotta capture the essence
- 4:14Speaker 1: of who you are and that's sometimes isn't in the music,
- 4:18Speaker 1: it's in an inner sketch or skit before the song
- 4:23Speaker 1: or after the song. So we creatively came up with
- 4:26Speaker 1: things that made sense, like the shit.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Would Nigga yo bitch chose me?
- 4:31Speaker 3: Yep.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I always loved that scene in the Maget and then
- 4:35Speaker 1: the bathtub scene is from Superfly when he trying to
- 4:42Speaker 1: get out and Eddie telling him to stay in.
- 4:46Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 4:46Speaker 1: So it's like you're getting all these movies scenes instilled
- 4:50Speaker 1: into my album because I'm such a fan of that.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And Dre as a producer captured every element of Snoop Dogg,
- 4:56Speaker 1: which was funny, gangster real.
- 4:59Speaker 3: And it's crazy too because I think back to like
- 5:04Speaker 3: the way that the Chronic. You were the first voice
- 5:07Speaker 3: on the Chronic, but you weren't the first voice on
- 5:09Speaker 3: Doggie Style. No Rage, Lady of Rage just blacked the
- 5:14Speaker 3: fuck out to kick that album.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Off right, So it was Rage and George Clinton well
- 5:20Speaker 1: the first voices on my album, and Doctor Dre. He
- 5:25Speaker 1: has a different way of thinking. He always know what
- 5:27Speaker 1: he's doing and we never know what the fuck he's doing.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But when he finishes, the shit sounds amazing. He knew
- 5:33Speaker 1: that he wanted Rage on the intro because Rage was
- 5:36Speaker 1: supposed to be next up with the album. Yeah, so
- 5:39Speaker 1: that's what that set up was about, hearing her voice.
- 5:41Speaker 3: First, kind of like you were next up with the Chronic.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that was his train of thought. But it didn't
- 5:46Speaker 1: come to life, but that was his train of thought
- 5:49Speaker 1: for sure.
- 5:50Speaker 3: It's crazy, man. I think I ran through the entire
- 5:53Speaker 3: album last night for a couple of times. The new
- 5:55Speaker 3: album Missionary, it's different, and I feel like it's like
- 6:01Speaker 3: kind of like an evolved I mean, cause if you
- 6:04Speaker 3: kind of go through the years of like even like
- 6:07Speaker 3: between Doggy Style to you guys getting back together for
- 6:10Speaker 3: two thousand and one, and obviously you guys have done
- 6:13Speaker 3: music since then, you know, but there's some shit on
- 6:17Speaker 3: this album and that's like, like the Tom Petty jelly
- 6:19Speaker 3: Roll record is crazy, like talk about because I saw
- 6:24Speaker 3: you went out to jelly Rolls Nashville show, which you
- 6:26Speaker 3: know was super dope shot the jelly. But how did
- 6:28Speaker 3: like the idea of bringing jelly roll onto the album
- 6:31Speaker 3: come up?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Well, when we got the concept right to beat the hook,
- 6:39Speaker 1: my verse, Dray didn't want me to come with a
- 6:42Speaker 1: second verse because I had a second verse on there.
- 6:46Speaker 2: He was like, nah, we need to get somebody on it.
- 6:49Speaker 1: So they start throwing names out, like all kinds of names,
- 6:52Speaker 1: big name artists, country artists, this style of artists, and
- 6:58Speaker 1: the shit just didn't match. It didn't feel like. Then
- 7:00Speaker 1: the motherfucker said jelly Roll, and the whole room lit up.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Was like, that's the nigga him, and so we reached out.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And when we reached out, Drey was gonna send him
- 7:12Speaker 1: the track. Jelly Roll was like, no, I.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Want to pull up.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 7:16Speaker 2: He told me he came through. So I wasn't even
- 7:18Speaker 2: there though. So that's how gangsta it was.
- 7:19Speaker 1: It was like I had to hear it after the fact,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and I didn't even meet him until I went to Nashville.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Oh you didn't meet him. It's first time meeting him.
- 7:26Speaker 3: You got to meet Bunny, his wife, and the wife, his.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Whole team, his cruel, his best friend, and his other
- 7:31Speaker 1: best friend. This motherfucker had five best friends like this.
- 7:36Speaker 1: How they came in introduced me, Hey Snoop, I'm jelly
- 7:39Speaker 1: Roll's best friend. Look take my hand. Then so was
- 7:42Speaker 1: he finished, Hey Snoop, I'm jelly Roll's other best friend.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Then motherfucker. Hey Snoop Dogg. I'm Jelly Roll's real best friend.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I'm the one that discovered.
- 7:50Speaker 2: All this shit.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I said, I love Jelly Row because he got the
- 7:53Speaker 1: same kind of crew I got.
- 7:54Speaker 2: My homies loved me the same way.
- 7:56Speaker 1: If you ask seven of my homies right now, they
- 7:58Speaker 1: all gonna tell you, Nigga, I'm his best friend because
- 8:00Speaker 1: I'm friends with everybody.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yo. I saw you talk about like
- 8:05Speaker 3: I saw a quote. It was an article you did
- 8:08Speaker 3: but essentially said that, you know, with this album, you
- 8:12Speaker 3: kind of wanted to remind people that you're like one
- 8:14Speaker 3: of the greatest of all time as an MC. Do
- 8:18Speaker 3: you feel like, one do you care about that conversation?
- 8:22Speaker 3: And two do you feel like when that conversation happens,
- 8:25Speaker 3: your name gets brought up enough?
- 8:28Speaker 1: I mean, I ain't got time to watch my highlights.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I got a game to play them all here, so
- 8:33Speaker 1: I can't worry about if I'm into Sports Center Top
- 8:35Speaker 1: ten or the Hip Hop top ten. I keep putting
- 8:38Speaker 1: in work, you know what I'm saying. That's one thing
- 8:40Speaker 1: that's undeniable. You could check my resume. I came out
- 8:43Speaker 1: in ninety two and this is twenty twenty four, and
- 8:47Speaker 1: I've been relevant ever since I came out the dough forever.
- 8:51Speaker 1: In music, let's say that first music first, and then
- 8:54Speaker 1: other things culturally musically, yes, but music first, every year,
- 9:01Speaker 1: every decade, and then the other things are my side quest,
- 9:05Speaker 1: the things that I enjoy doing that I love doing it.
- 9:07Speaker 1: I want to inspire others to do by taking chances
- 9:10Speaker 1: on myself, like engaging and believing, believing in me, like
- 9:14Speaker 1: I don't have to have nobody confirm that I can
- 9:16Speaker 1: do this or try this. I just do it and
- 9:18Speaker 1: get it done, and then it becomes you know, spectacular
- 9:22Speaker 1: and famous and people love it, and hopefully it inspires
- 9:25Speaker 1: the next generation to try and do it because I
- 9:27Speaker 1: used to be a shy kid that was afraid to
- 9:29Speaker 1: make moves and jump out there and do things. And
- 9:31Speaker 1: now I'm a leader and I want to inspire the
- 9:33Speaker 1: next man that may be shy or embarrassed to step
- 9:36Speaker 1: up and become who he's supposed to be.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I mean, you are the side quest, you know, master,
- 9:42Speaker 3: I would say.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Well, me and Shaquille O'Neil.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I'll look, shaq is close, but I feel like you're
- 9:47Speaker 3: kind of you've ran away with it for a while.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But that's what I do do I do usually run
- 9:52Speaker 1: away with it, you know what I'm saying. That's what
- 9:54Speaker 1: I've been known to do. I'm a closer. You know
- 9:56Speaker 1: what I'm saying. A lot of guys are relief pictures.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I'm a closer. I close shit. You know what I'm saying.
- 10:00Speaker 1: When I get up there, expect a w because I
- 10:03Speaker 1: play hard, I practice hard, I study and I respect
- 10:06Speaker 1: the game. And when you do all those things, it
- 10:08Speaker 1: usually ends up in a successful way.
- 10:10Speaker 3: I was gonna say, man like throughout like the last
- 10:13Speaker 3: thirty years, we've seen you have so many business ventures.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I think till like back in the day, owning like
- 10:19Speaker 3: Snoop Dogg clothing and like getting it from Burlington co
- 10:22Speaker 3: Factory as a kid. You know what I'm saying, It
- 10:24Speaker 3: was Outcast clothing and Snoop dog clothing around the same time.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Shout out to CADATAI Jones Quincy Jones daughter. She the
- 10:30Speaker 1: one who took me to a guy by the name
- 10:34Speaker 1: of Michael Well. She took me to Andy Hill figure
- 10:36Speaker 1: first and Tommy Hill figure and she got me a
- 10:39Speaker 1: brand and deal with them. And then she said you
- 10:41Speaker 1: need to create your own line. Snoop Dogg clothing. She
- 10:45Speaker 1: gave me the idea, introduced me to the people, and
- 10:47Speaker 1: that's how Snoop Dogg Clothing got kicked off. And it's
- 10:51Speaker 1: before she even met Tupac.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yet, No Snoop dog Clothing was crazy. It literally was
- 10:56Speaker 3: like if like if you like it looked like shit,
- 10:58Speaker 3: you would just Snoop Dogg, like straight out the closet
- 11:01Speaker 3: is stupid. But I just feel like, you know, even
- 11:04Speaker 3: like going into the crypto space, like I feel like
- 11:07Speaker 3: you were like a real pioneer when it comes to
- 11:11Speaker 3: like showing artists like that, there is this other world
- 11:15Speaker 3: in which you can kind of monetize, you know. I
- 11:17Speaker 3: feel like maybe three years ago, there was people spending
- 11:20Speaker 3: serious money to have digital real estate next to your house.
- 11:23Speaker 1: In sandbox niggas by buying digital property for hundreds and
- 11:27Speaker 1: hundreds of thousands of dollars, and the shit was like
- 11:29Speaker 1: this big and you couldn't touch it. But it was
- 11:31Speaker 1: the fact that I had went over to that industry
- 11:33Speaker 1: and I had went on the ground I had started
- 11:36Speaker 1: from the ground up. I didn't come over there and
- 11:37Speaker 1: try to grab money. I went over there and I
- 11:39Speaker 1: built what the creators. I went over there and let
- 11:41Speaker 1: them use my name, my likeness, did collaborations, you know,
- 11:45Speaker 1: changed the game, brought music over there, did things in
- 11:49Speaker 1: an unorthodox way to where it was appealing to that
- 11:53Speaker 1: world because that world is that same way, and I
- 11:55Speaker 1: wasn't a superstar to them.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I was on the ground level with them.
- 11:58Speaker 1: So whenever I would put something out, they would respect
- 12:01Speaker 1: it and buy it because I would usually do things
- 12:03Speaker 1: with them or allow them to use my name on
- 12:05Speaker 1: my likeness. Early when I first got into that world,
- 12:09Speaker 1: people was using my face and all kinds of shit.
- 12:11Speaker 1: My son was like, Pops, you gotta let 'em use it.
- 12:14Speaker 1: They love you, That's why they doing it. It's not
- 12:17Speaker 1: that they trying to make money off you.
- 12:18Speaker 2: They love you.
- 12:19Speaker 1: And once I understood that, then me and my relationship
- 12:22Speaker 1: with the metaverse took a whole new lift because it
- 12:24Speaker 1: was like Wow, Snoopers allowing us to use his face
- 12:27Speaker 1: and his likeness as a creator and musically use his
- 12:30Speaker 1: voice and blah blah this and that, and it was
- 12:32Speaker 1: a connection that can't nobody break cause I built that.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Nah, that shit's crazy, definitely, uh O the first to
- 12:38Speaker 3: do that. I mean for sure, but in terms of
- 12:41Speaker 3: just like the new ventures, like obviously you and Dre
- 12:44Speaker 3: have a new drink.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Gin and Juice, the gin and Juice and steal.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Gen uh w th Like there's just so much. I
- 12:52Speaker 3: feel like every other week we see something new. What
- 12:55Speaker 3: is like your bandwidth like on a daily basis? Cause
- 12:58Speaker 3: I j I mean I see death Row on everything
- 13:02Speaker 3: I go to the store. There's death Row t shirts
- 13:05Speaker 3: at Walmart. There's the death Row Happy Dad. You know
- 13:09Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Like you got to have just I mean,
- 13:13Speaker 3: the work ethic is still so crazy at this point
- 13:15Speaker 3: in time in your career, Like how do you kind
- 13:18Speaker 3: of manage and deal with just all of the ventures?
- 13:20Speaker 1: What I did, keV, I put a team around me.
- 13:23Speaker 1: For many years it would be me and a couple
- 13:25Speaker 1: of people making things happen. So what I did was,
- 13:28Speaker 1: I got a bigger team, I got a smarter team.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I got employees or professionals at what they do. And
- 13:34Speaker 1: then I'm back managed by William Morris and Aria Manuel.
- 13:38Speaker 1: So positioning myself to get the best out of me
- 13:41Speaker 1: while I'm putting in the best of my work right
- 13:43Speaker 1: now and not having to focus on so many different
- 13:46Speaker 1: things but being the creator, the boss, and the connector.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I love it. I wanted to ask you about your
- 13:52Speaker 3: second album because it's an album I feel like doesn't
- 13:54Speaker 3: get talked about enough. It was probably one of the
- 13:56Speaker 3: highest anticipated albums of all time because it's obviously the
- 14:00Speaker 3: follow up The Doggy Style of The dog Father. What
- 14:02Speaker 3: do you feel like? Because I love that album, like
- 14:06Speaker 3: that that the you thought record was too short and Superflies?
- 14:13Speaker 3: But what what do you think kind of went wrong
- 14:16Speaker 3: with it? Was it like kind of like the beginning
- 14:19Speaker 3: your the splintering of the relationship with Sugar, Like what
- 14:21Speaker 3: kind of went wrong you think with dog Father? And
- 14:23Speaker 3: why it kind of doesn't get looked at in the
- 14:25Speaker 3: same kind.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Of You got to think about what the dog Father was?
- 14:29Speaker 1: What was the dog Father? It was the follow up
- 14:31Speaker 1: album The Doggy Style, But what it was was Snoop
- 14:34Speaker 1: Dogg becoming a man. Snoop Dogg realized that he wanted
- 14:37Speaker 1: to live, that he wanted to separate from the madness,
- 14:41Speaker 1: and at that time it was looked at as it
- 14:44Speaker 1: was frowned upon because I was so gangster on my
- 14:47Speaker 1: intro and so gangster with the way I was living,
- 14:50Speaker 1: Like why don't you want to be gangster anymore. Well,
- 14:53Speaker 1: how about I'm fighting a murder case, and when I
- 14:55Speaker 1: win this murder case, I want to do right by
- 14:58Speaker 1: the system, by God, by the way I was raised.
- 15:01Speaker 1: And if the people around me don't get it, if
- 15:04Speaker 1: the fans don't get it, if the label don't get it,
- 15:08Speaker 1: fuck them, because in twenty twenty four, I'll be talking
- 15:11Speaker 1: about why I made that decision, why that record sounds
- 15:15Speaker 1: like that, why I was hope on that record, why
- 15:17Speaker 1: I wrote about life more than death. Why I seen
- 15:21Speaker 1: visions of me becoming a grandfather and living into my
- 15:26Speaker 1: sixties and seventies by saying the right things in my music.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Because realizing that the chronic and doggy style and the
- 15:32Speaker 1: dog pound ap and everything that I had worked on,
- 15:35Speaker 1: I had wrote all of the things that happened to
- 15:38Speaker 1: me that were negative. I manifested it. So I wanted
- 15:42Speaker 1: to write some positive shit.
- 15:43Speaker 3: To matter ifest some positive shit, and it happened. Would
- 15:46Speaker 3: you say that going through that trial, which is obviously
- 15:50Speaker 3: one of the biggest trials in hip hop history, I know.
- 15:54Speaker 3: I talked to Warren G about it. He said he
- 15:55Speaker 3: was like, I got interrogated during that shit. You know
- 15:57Speaker 3: what I mean like, would you say the uncertainty of
- 16:00Speaker 3: like what your future looked like while you're going through
- 16:01Speaker 3: that trial like kind of like change, Like because what if,
- 16:05Speaker 3: like Doggy Style, you had that success and you were
- 16:08Speaker 3: on that meteoric rise and that trial didn't happen and
- 16:10Speaker 3: there wasn't something to kind of like shake you up
- 16:12Speaker 3: a little and be like, hey man, this shit you
- 16:14Speaker 3: know could get taken away, Like do you feel like that?
- 16:17Speaker 3: It kind of changed your trajectory as like a man
- 16:20Speaker 3: and an artist.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Well, remember my good friend Tupacat got murdered, Sugar gets
- 16:26Speaker 1: separated from got separated from us. All this happening while
- 16:29Speaker 1: the dog Father is about to come out and then
- 16:31Speaker 1: comes out.
- 16:33Speaker 2: So it's like.
- 16:35Speaker 1: The label is in disarray, there's death, there's division. I'm
- 16:43Speaker 1: a crip bluzs and Crips is at it now. Sugar
- 16:48Speaker 1: ain't fucking with me no more really, So it's like
- 16:51Speaker 1: you don't really have the push and the support. And
- 16:53Speaker 1: then the record that I made wasn't as violent or
- 16:56Speaker 1: as gangster as the first one. So it's like if
- 16:59Speaker 1: you go see Scarface, or you go see a better analogy,
- 17:03Speaker 1: you go see a movie with Robert de Narrow where Casino,
- 17:08Speaker 1: and then you see him in Meet the.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Foxers ah BO.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Both great, right, but the gangsters don't want to go
- 17:17Speaker 1: see him in this family funny movie, but the shit
- 17:22Speaker 1: is amazing. They only want to see him shooting, chilling mafia.
- 17:28Speaker 1: That's all they want to see. So my audience was
- 17:31Speaker 1: brainwashed at the time to think that that's all we did.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And then you had Tupac smashing on niggas doing the
- 17:38Speaker 1: gangster shit. I'm wood him on America's Most Warning, but
- 17:41Speaker 1: then I ain't like that on my album. So it's
- 17:45Speaker 1: like I'm two people because when I'm with Tupac, I'm
- 17:49Speaker 1: fighting the murder case, but when I do the dog Father,
- 17:51Speaker 1: I win the murder case.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Different.
- 17:54Speaker 2: So when I'm.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Fighting he, I'm gonna try to keep a gangster and
- 17:57Speaker 1: stay down and all that shit. But damn, I got
- 17:58Speaker 1: these yours looking at me. So when I finished, I
- 18:02Speaker 1: got to get.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Back in there.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I gotta beat this mode, right because you're on probation
- 18:08Speaker 1: right now, you're on bail.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I'm fighting a murder case.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Sugar is in between both, so it's like Dre is
- 18:18Speaker 1: on the way out and we don't know it.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Crazy.
- 18:21Speaker 2: So all this is going on.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and the murder case pre existed because it was
- 18:26Speaker 1: wild Mark wild Doggie style. It's just dragging on, it's
- 18:29Speaker 1: just dragging out. So I got to build my best
- 18:32Speaker 1: behavior so I won't get violated and get took to jail.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I had a house niggas you know. I had house
- 18:37Speaker 1: arrest for like six months. Yeah, because I damn near violated.
- 18:41Speaker 1: It was like walking that fine line trying to keep
- 18:43Speaker 1: a gangster. Then while I'm keeping a gangster with y'all,
- 18:46Speaker 1: then eight in the morning, guess where I gotta be
- 18:48Speaker 1: at in court with a suit on? Right, my client
- 18:52Speaker 1: is not gang affiliate, Mike client as soon as I leave. Yeah,
- 18:56Speaker 1: cub woo. It's a double life. Some got to give
- 19:01Speaker 1: and it's my life. So at the end of the day,
- 19:03Speaker 1: God gives you the control to control your life, to
- 19:06Speaker 1: make a decisions. And I made a decision to do
- 19:08Speaker 1: what I thought was the right thing, which is make
- 19:10Speaker 1: a record that was aim in that direction to deal
- 19:13Speaker 1: with what I was dealing with in life.
- 19:16Speaker 3: In real life, I talked with Damian Young chot to Demiza.
- 19:21Speaker 3: He had said that you don't get enough credit for
- 19:26Speaker 3: trying to be a peacemaker during the East Coast West
- 19:29Speaker 3: Coast drama that was happening. He mentioned the show at
- 19:32Speaker 3: the Palace. It was like a power one a six show,
- 19:36Speaker 3: and I guess Biggie pulled up. You guys met backstage.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Biggie goes on stage. Does I think he did crush
- 19:43Speaker 3: on you or something like that? And he said that
- 19:45Speaker 3: you you walked out behind him like while he was
- 19:47Speaker 3: on stage, like while he was performing, and did your
- 19:49Speaker 3: you know, your snoop dance and shit, and he was
- 19:51Speaker 3: just like that was that was never something that you
- 19:53Speaker 3: would kind of like subscribe to. And I think that's
- 19:56Speaker 3: obviously you know, well, well, well that we kind of
- 20:01Speaker 3: know that, But like, was that like something that you
- 20:04Speaker 3: know just the whole time that was happening. Obviously there's
- 20:07Speaker 3: a source of words thing. But was that something that
- 20:10Speaker 3: that never just sat right with you in terms of
- 20:12Speaker 3: just that whole narrative.
- 20:13Speaker 1: No, it didn't, because the East Coast was always the
- 20:17Speaker 1: pinnacle of rap. They was always the gods. They was
- 20:19Speaker 1: the ones who did it before anybody.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I mean, you paid how much a slick rick on
- 20:22Speaker 3: donk oh Man.
- 20:22Speaker 1: They was the ones who showed us how to do it.
- 20:25Speaker 1: So we would never want to get into it with
- 20:26Speaker 1: the inventors or the creators, but a certain situations made
- 20:30Speaker 1: us feel a certain way because we would never get
- 20:32Speaker 1: our songs played on radio with certain things that would
- 20:34Speaker 1: be biased towards us, and it was built up frustration.
- 20:38Speaker 1: And then you got you know things that's happened in
- 20:41Speaker 1: the industry with artists being shot at and being shot
- 20:44Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So it's like it built
- 20:46Speaker 1: up a hostility that was out of control.
- 20:49Speaker 2: And I was a part of it. You know, New
- 20:51Speaker 2: York and New York video was fucking but that was
- 20:53Speaker 2: after them Nigga shot at us. We went out.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We went out there to have them be in the video.
- 20:58Speaker 1: They wouldn't let us sit a radio station. Then they
- 21:00Speaker 1: us on ers and we didn't say nothing. Seven We
- 21:03Speaker 1: came up to high ninety seven, so we can tell you, hey,
- 21:06Speaker 1: New York, we're here to shoot a video. You know
- 21:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Dog Brown, pull up, come show us
- 21:10Speaker 1: some love. We're gonna be a Times Square. They wouldn't
- 21:12Speaker 1: let us on. Then the word gets out Dog Pound
- 21:15Speaker 1: Snoop Dogg and Tupac shooting a video and read hood
- 21:18Speaker 1: brook Brooklyn and we had to exit. So but we
- 21:23Speaker 1: kept it low. We didn't say nothing. We left it,
- 21:25Speaker 1: left it alone. And that was sort of kind of
- 21:27Speaker 1: like why Tupac had like animosity towards me, because he
- 21:31Speaker 1: knew that that happened to me, and he suspected that
- 21:34Speaker 1: that happened in it to him by the same circle.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And I was still willing to forgive.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Right, you were still willing to be the bigger man.
- 21:44Speaker 1: When he was locked up, I was the gangster. So
- 21:47Speaker 1: when he gets out, he expected me to stay the gainst.
- 21:51Speaker 1: When you watch gangster movies, it's always two gangsters, right,
- 21:55Speaker 1: and they ride it all the way out and then
- 21:57Speaker 1: one and then one of them like, man, I'm on.
- 22:00Speaker 3: It's like Nasa and Belly. Nasa is like I want
- 22:03Speaker 3: to go to Africa and Tommy Buns is like fuck that.
- 22:05Speaker 1: But that's life. That's just how it is. It's like
- 22:08Speaker 1: all of my relationships have been like that. Even with
- 22:11Speaker 1: me and Warren g when we started off, we was
- 22:14Speaker 1: tied it in the glove musically, and then it had
- 22:16Speaker 1: to take a point to where he had to separate
- 22:18Speaker 1: and do his own shit to create who the fuck
- 22:20Speaker 1: Warrene is because he would have just been up under
- 22:23Speaker 1: us and being Dre's little brother. And this now, motherfuckers
- 22:25Speaker 1: know that's Warren G the creator, g Funk, the regulator.
- 22:28Speaker 2: He produced this. He did that.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Only I mean saved deaf Jam as a West Coast artist, right.
- 22:33Speaker 1: But you don't know the struggle of what it was
- 22:35Speaker 1: before he got to that point. It wasn't just all right,
- 22:38Speaker 1: Warren G, go do your own thing. It was maybe
- 22:39Speaker 1: it's arguments. When you see my biopick.
- 22:41Speaker 2: You'll see it. I ain't gonna give you too much man.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Now, he explained a little bit, like he was kind
- 22:45Speaker 3: of explaining like things got a little weird because he
- 22:48Speaker 3: was like kind of the only guy who wasn't with
- 22:49Speaker 3: Death Row and like kind of went and did his
- 22:51Speaker 3: own thing, right.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Yeah, And he's the one that brought the main piece
- 22:54Speaker 1: to death Row, which is facts you.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Bring the engine and you don't have to get in
- 22:58Speaker 2: the car.
- 22:59Speaker 3: That's craziness. That is that's interesting, YO, talk to me
- 23:04Speaker 3: about you. Obviously getting with Pharrell kind of carved out
- 23:10Speaker 3: another era of your career. Paid the cost to be
- 23:14Speaker 3: the boss. Rhythmic Gangs to These were albums that I
- 23:20Speaker 3: feel like are are kind of like up there with
- 23:23Speaker 3: any of your bodies of work. Also shots of Blue
- 23:25Speaker 3: Carmont Treatment that's one of my favorites. And last meal
- 23:27Speaker 3: time Blue car Treatment so good.
- 23:29Speaker 2: That's just so hard. Oh my god, that's my ship.
- 23:32Speaker 3: But you like like being locked in with Dre in
- 23:36Speaker 3: a way that you have the level you have. You've
- 23:40Speaker 3: also worked with guys like DJ Premier throughout your career,
- 23:42Speaker 3: like you've worked with the greatest of all time, Tim Molann,
- 23:44Speaker 3: et cetera. But but like catching like that vibe with
- 23:47Speaker 3: Pharrell where you guys are able to like really kind
- 23:49Speaker 3: of ride a wave and like have multiple I mean,
- 23:53Speaker 3: drop it like it's hot. It's like I mean as
- 23:56Speaker 3: big a record that you have, you know what I mean,
- 23:59Speaker 3: Like how cool is that to kind of like get
- 24:02Speaker 3: in a group because a lot of people can get
- 24:03Speaker 3: in with producers and like, hey, Pharrel made the album.
- 24:05Speaker 3: We got a single, but you guys got into like
- 24:07Speaker 3: a real I mean the Bush album was Dope slept
- 24:09Speaker 3: on too.
- 24:10Speaker 2: You know what people don't know about for real?
- 24:13Speaker 1: This is what I really love about Cuz when he
- 24:16Speaker 1: worked with me, when we was doing the first couple
- 24:19Speaker 1: of things that we did, all he wanted to do
- 24:22Speaker 1: was be around my gangster homies as R and B
- 24:25Speaker 1: as he is and as melodic as he is.
- 24:28Speaker 2: He was so infatuated with like, Snoop, bring your homies
- 24:32Speaker 2: up here, cuffs, have your homies up here. Cut.
- 24:35Speaker 1: He's just just like that. He's like, that's how he
- 24:38Speaker 1: talked with being your homies up here, he cut, and
- 24:40Speaker 1: all my homies like I want the worst of the
- 24:43Speaker 1: worst of your homies, the one that steals, the one
- 24:45Speaker 1: that are getting to fight, or what I need.
- 24:48Speaker 3: I want these studio sessions to be a real liability.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I want niggas up here. It's so many words.
- 24:53Speaker 1: So I would bring all the niggas up there and
- 24:54Speaker 1: that he would get. Like to me, he did what
- 24:58Speaker 1: Dre did with Doggy's chaff. He had to learn me,
- 25:01Speaker 1: but he had to learn my elements. And you can't
- 25:03Speaker 1: just do that sit in the studio with me. You
- 25:05Speaker 1: got to see me around my people. You got to
- 25:07Speaker 1: see how I interact with my people. You got to
- 25:09Speaker 1: get the vibe busts and when we made those records.
- 25:11Speaker 1: He even allowed people like LT Hunting to produce tracks.
- 25:14Speaker 1: He allowed Jelly Roll and other people to present because
- 25:17Speaker 1: he knew that they was a part of my team,
- 25:19Speaker 1: so it wasn't like it was a produced by Forarral
- 25:21Speaker 1: top to bottom. He had the majority of it. But
- 25:24Speaker 1: he allowed, hey man, your home way over there. Bring
- 25:28Speaker 1: him in there, don't you do beats, Let's see what
- 25:30Speaker 1: he got like. He was that type of you know,
- 25:36Speaker 1: collaborated with me to where it was like we had
- 25:39Speaker 1: fun together, and he was interesting because he wanted to
- 25:42Speaker 1: tap in to this gangster shit. Then when we was
- 25:44Speaker 1: into it with sug Knight, that's when he was trying
- 25:47Speaker 1: to pull up. He was like, hold on, wait a minute,
- 25:51Speaker 1: y'all really into it with the nigga, said, nigga, don't trip, nigga,
- 25:53Speaker 1: stay out with this cripshit.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Nigga.
- 25:54Speaker 1: We got this nigga and then once we handle Cuz
- 25:58Speaker 1: he was able to see all of that to see
- 26:00Speaker 1: how the situation resolved not with violence, but which is
- 26:06Speaker 1: standing up and being a man and putting your foot down.
- 26:11Speaker 3: And then it's and then like that Bush album me
- 26:13Speaker 3: all there, I don't know that ship is done.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I get talked about that overseas. They love that. That
- 26:18Speaker 1: was a great big hit overseas.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Yeah, and it was I think the like what I
- 26:23Speaker 3: like I bought the CD, and I think the CD
- 26:25Speaker 3: reminded me like the old No Limit cases because it
- 26:27Speaker 3: was like a solid color case.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Did you see the videos to Thattu, Yeah, for sure.
- 26:31Speaker 1: The Stevie Wonder woan was amazing, the one with Charlie Wilson,
- 26:34Speaker 1: like his thought process to me that when I'm not
- 26:37Speaker 1: hearing on this earth anymore is when that record is
- 26:40Speaker 1: going to be thoroughly appreciated because it's so dynamic and
- 26:43Speaker 1: it's so futuristic that it was so ahead of its time.
- 26:47Speaker 1: People were so used to hearing me and him do
- 26:49Speaker 1: slappers and bangers, but we went to a whole other
- 26:52Speaker 1: region with that.
- 26:55Speaker 3: I want to talk about, Like, I just watched your
- 26:57Speaker 3: cam interview and I know you touched a lot on
- 26:58Speaker 3: your No Limit era. I remember the anticipation because I
- 27:04Speaker 3: was a big MASTERP fan, like, ghetto dopeses my shit.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I have my shit too.
- 27:08Speaker 1: My home boy Badass Rest in Peace pulled up on
- 27:11Speaker 1: me in a Cadillac and he was like, Doggie, dog,
- 27:14Speaker 1: you gotta hit this shit, and he put the cassette
- 27:17Speaker 1: in and ghetto Dope and I fell in love with him.
- 27:19Speaker 3: No Limit and whole fire. But when you first dropped
- 27:23Speaker 3: the game is to be Sold, not to be Told,
- 27:25Speaker 3: and you had like the like the no Limit style
- 27:28Speaker 3: cover and it was like your first I remember like
- 27:31Speaker 3: running to the Wear. I think I saved my money.
- 27:33Speaker 3: I might have sold some older CDs to get that motherfucker.
- 27:37Speaker 3: But that album felt to me like it was like
- 27:41Speaker 3: you go into No Limits world as to where uh,
- 27:45Speaker 3: top Dog felt to me like you brought back. Yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 3: now y'all got to come over here.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Last Meal. Last Meal was straight see what you don't know? Three?
- 27:53Speaker 3: Last Week is my favorite.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Last Meal.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Doctor Dre mixed it from top to bottom, every song
- 27:58Speaker 1: on there.
- 28:00Speaker 3: So when you were working on Last Meal, where you
- 28:01Speaker 3: also simultaneously working on.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Two thousand and one and the East Siders.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Because we didn't get two thousand and one until after
- 28:07Speaker 3: Last Meal.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Right, last Meal, East Siders first album and Chronic two
- 28:11Speaker 1: thousand and one time, and then we started working on
- 28:14Speaker 1: the Wash because we had wrote the Wash while we
- 28:16Speaker 1: did the Up a Smoke.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Dude very slept on the soundtrack.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Come on the.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Nocturnalment that motherfucker. No but Last Meal. I remember when
- 28:23Speaker 3: when Dre was on the there's the voicemail.
- 28:26Speaker 2: On that Snoop.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I've been listening to your album and I ain't saying
- 28:30Speaker 1: nothing on this whole motherfucker on Layloy Laylo. But he
- 28:34Speaker 1: sequenced the whole album. He mixed everybody's song. Everybody gave
- 28:38Speaker 1: him the music. He sequest the Snoop Snoop Snoop, all
- 28:41Speaker 1: that into boom boom boom boom into that, into all
- 28:45Speaker 1: of that. He sequenced everything, even the ark yelly song
- 28:48Speaker 1: crazy that's that ship.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Yeah, me and DLC wrote that.
- 28:52Speaker 3: By the way, very slept on our record. That record
- 28:55Speaker 3: was big, big record at radio.
- 28:57Speaker 2: No Me.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I used to perform that record with COUD when he
- 28:59Speaker 1: was on the street. He's nigga that regular shooes nigga
- 29:02Speaker 1: Young Chank kank kank Kang guanank kankankankank kank Gang.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Shout out to my nigga nots for making that beat
- 29:10Speaker 2: about the.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Vah Yeah, oh man, But I'm curious, like, uh there.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I remember having a bootleg version of the album that
- 29:22Speaker 3: was supposed to come out, the fuck Death Row album.
- 29:25Speaker 3: There was like a I don't know if I don't
- 29:26Speaker 3: know how official it was, but I had like a
- 29:29Speaker 3: napster downloaded version of like a fake Snoop Dogg album,
- 29:33Speaker 3: but it was all it was you, But like that
- 29:36Speaker 3: was an album You're gonna drop with Mac.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Ten Yeah, and a couple of songs that got out
- 29:41Speaker 1: because one of the engineers that I had worked ended
- 29:44Speaker 1: up going to work for Death Row and was sugared
- 29:45Speaker 1: him trying to put out that Walking Dead album.
- 29:48Speaker 2: He slid them a field.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Oh I remember that album. This Death Row chronic two
- 29:52Speaker 3: thousand comes out. There's a guy on there that sounds
- 29:56Speaker 3: just like.
- 29:56Speaker 2: You, Top Doll.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Oh he's he It's almost like like they went out
- 30:00Speaker 3: and they were like, we have to find a Snoop
- 30:03Speaker 3: Dogg impersonator to try to fool people. And then the
- 30:07Speaker 3: name top Dog. You had an album called top Dog.
- 30:09Speaker 3: You know, right, what were your thoughts when you heard that?
- 30:12Speaker 1: Just that whole I was like, this nigga Sugar is
- 30:16Speaker 1: a real hater. Like That's what my thoughts was, you
- 30:20Speaker 1: know what I'm saying at the time. But then master
- 30:22Speaker 1: P had seized me to like forgive and to move
- 30:26Speaker 1: forward and not look back. Yeah, So I had to
- 30:28Speaker 1: get trained into not paying attention to it because it
- 30:31Speaker 1: was so much of it going on, Like every time
- 30:33Speaker 1: I would try to drop or Dre would drop.
- 30:36Speaker 3: There would be something where if someone went to a
- 30:38Speaker 3: record store they'd see something else next to it and
- 30:40Speaker 3: be like, wait, what what's this?
- 30:41Speaker 2: And then like the dead Man walking shit.
- 30:42Speaker 3: I forgot about that.
- 30:43Speaker 1: And then my fuck death Row album had leaked a
- 30:46Speaker 1: little bit of it because one of the guys that
- 30:49Speaker 1: was my engineers had ended up getting paid off by
- 30:51Speaker 1: death Row to work for them, and he slid a
- 30:53Speaker 1: couple of my songs over there. And that's when they
- 30:55Speaker 1: started creating finding somebody to sound like me?
- 31:00Speaker 2: Can you believe that?
- 31:00Speaker 1: It's like they did a talent search to find a
- 31:02Speaker 1: nigga that sound like me, which to me, it was
- 31:04Speaker 1: like I was. I was happy, like I'm really on
- 31:09Speaker 1: your nigga's mind, like that where y'all trying.
- 31:11Speaker 3: To find a nigga that sound you can't just find
- 31:12Speaker 3: someone new, right.
- 31:13Speaker 1: And it's like, okay, so I must be hurting, y'all.
- 31:15Speaker 1: And that's what put me on a mission. I started,
- 31:17Speaker 1: like when I went to make music. After that, my
- 31:21Speaker 1: mission was to make great fucking music. And I think
- 31:23Speaker 1: I went on a mission for like six straight years.
- 31:26Speaker 3: So you went on a run.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Like Snoop Dogg wasn't playing with nobody.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Yeah, doing songs with everybody, putting people on, making sure
- 31:33Speaker 1: my records was right, doing big tours.
- 31:36Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 31:37Speaker 1: Getting down in the mixtape world, like whatever was coming out,
- 31:40Speaker 1: I was always ahead of it.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Even with fifty cent was open enough for me.
- 31:44Speaker 1: And we showed g Unit how to get his background
- 31:48Speaker 1: right because in the beginning they just was up there.
- 31:50Speaker 1: So I had the dog panting, all my crew with me,
- 31:52Speaker 1: so fifty would come in my dress room, we chop
- 31:55Speaker 1: it up. I give him a little piece of game.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Then before you know it, his show got right. Hold on,
- 31:59Speaker 1: don't do that in the club. Shouldn't be your first song.
- 32:01Speaker 1: That's got to be your last song. You can't come
- 32:04Speaker 1: out to that. That's at the back boom. Take him
- 32:07Speaker 1: on the road again. This time were on the road.
- 32:10Speaker 1: He dropped one of the niggas off the tour and
- 32:12Speaker 1: ended up making it his tour. And now it's just
- 32:14Speaker 1: me and him.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Then I got a.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Band rocking with the band. Next time I see him
- 32:19Speaker 1: on the road, he rocking with a band. So it's
- 32:22Speaker 1: like we learn, we teach, we give information. When you associated,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you affiliated. And I've been able to like take my
- 32:29Speaker 1: career and give game to other people and receive game
- 32:33Speaker 1: along the way.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, during that kind of time where you
- 32:39Speaker 3: and and Sugar going back and forth, whether it be
- 32:42Speaker 3: you know, publicly or not, would you ever have thought
- 32:45Speaker 3: that like death Throw would be yours one day. Like
- 32:48Speaker 3: it's kind of crazy if you really think about it,
- 32:50Speaker 3: because you had you had your label Doghouse, which had
- 32:54Speaker 3: like doll these angels in the east Side is and
- 32:57Speaker 3: but fast forward and you I feel like you've taken
- 32:59Speaker 3: the death Row brand and like it's everywhere. Dude, Like
- 33:04Speaker 3: I feel like you've slapped that motherfucker on what, Like
- 33:07Speaker 3: you got that licensing shit going crazy, But.
- 33:10Speaker 1: That's what you're supposed to do. Like my thing was
- 33:12Speaker 1: getting it cleaning it up. I had to clean up
- 33:14Speaker 1: the bullshit first because it was so much negative energy
- 33:16Speaker 1: around it. People was afraid of what Sug was gonna
- 33:19Speaker 1: think and how you know the industry would react to
- 33:22Speaker 1: doing business but with death Row considering knowing that this
- 33:25Speaker 1: nigga would be in the back trying to hate us,
- 33:26Speaker 1: saying things negative. But I was like, I'm just gonna
- 33:29Speaker 1: clean up all of this shit, give it a whole
- 33:31Speaker 1: new approach, walk it out in a different light, and
- 33:34Speaker 1: move with love as the purpose of Death Row Records.
- 33:36Speaker 1: They connect the dots that they didn't do, like, they
- 33:38Speaker 1: didn't do none of the things that I'm doing with
- 33:40Speaker 1: the label, and they had it way longer than me.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I ain't had the label for two years and I've
- 33:43Speaker 1: done more things that's been done with this label in
- 33:46Speaker 1: thirty years.
- 33:47Speaker 3: I mean, the October London Kid is incredible, thank you,
- 33:50Speaker 3: and then obviously the new Dog Panama is crazy, east
- 33:52Speaker 3: Side is are back?
- 33:54Speaker 1: You're I mean D Smoked Smoke. I want D Smoke
- 33:58Speaker 1: on Death Row Records. I'll say it publicly. We always
- 34:01Speaker 1: talk about it. We need to figure it out.
- 34:03Speaker 3: I know we've been talked about. I know it was
- 34:04Speaker 3: in the air.
- 34:05Speaker 2: I'm not ashamed to say I won't de Smoke of
- 34:07Speaker 2: from Inglewood.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I live over here now, I'm in the Inglewood area,
- 34:10Speaker 1: and he's such a factor to the hip hop game,
- 34:13Speaker 1: to the community to just like even how I met
- 34:16Speaker 1: him on that show.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Yeah that's true. And when you ask him where you're
- 34:20Speaker 3: from right now? But where are you from?
- 34:22Speaker 1: And I'm checking him trying to see if he a
- 34:24Speaker 1: gang member, was he a rapper right, and come to
- 34:26Speaker 1: find out he becomes my brother.
- 34:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and one of the best guys, shocking him and Sir.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Bro won't you and Inglewood, Sir Davean, I take the
- 34:35Speaker 1: whole family.
- 34:38Speaker 2: We're playing with me.
- 34:40Speaker 3: In twenty eleven, I want to say, there's a historical
- 34:43Speaker 3: moment yourself corrupt the game. I'm missing somebody else. Essentially
- 34:51Speaker 3: passed the torch to Kendrick Lamar on stage. Yes, yes,
- 34:55Speaker 3: Kendrick gets emotional. I think that was like a real
- 34:58Speaker 3: turning point.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Well, at that time the game, he was the one
- 35:03Speaker 1: that was carrying the tour. He was fucking carrying the
- 35:06Speaker 1: toys game, was sucking it up, he was getting it in,
- 35:08Speaker 1: he was busting, he was battling niggas, he was keeping
- 35:10Speaker 1: the gangster. He was taking niggas on tour, selling hell
- 35:13Speaker 1: of records. But he was doing g shit and we
- 35:16Speaker 1: shouldn't forget that. A lot of times we run past
- 35:18Speaker 1: him to get to the game.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Had a grand I mean, he was holding the West Coast.
- 35:22Speaker 1: That's why he was on stage when Kendrick was presented
- 35:25Speaker 1: that because it was all a part of us seeing
- 35:27Speaker 1: that he was the next in line. That's how we
- 35:30Speaker 1: do it on the West, we give it to who
- 35:32Speaker 1: was accordingly running the show, so game naturally on stage
- 35:36Speaker 1: with me, we felt like he didn't won. And it
- 35:39Speaker 1: wasn't no discussion that we had three weeks ago. That
- 35:41Speaker 1: shit happened right there.
- 35:42Speaker 3: What happened on the spot.
- 35:43Speaker 1: This nigga was fucking it up. We in the crowd
- 35:45Speaker 1: watching this nigga fuck it up. I'm sitting with Doctor
- 35:47Speaker 1: Dre and the crowd watching this nigga fuck it up,
- 35:50Speaker 1: and I'm like, I gotta go on stage with this nigga.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Dream. I'm sorry, I can't be in the crowd.
- 35:54Speaker 1: So I go on stage and he do another song,
- 35:57Speaker 1: then another song, and they look over at me and
- 35:59Speaker 1: they had me to mic. I'm like, man, fuck all
- 36:01Speaker 1: this shit, nigga, this nigga.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Is the king.
- 36:03Speaker 1: And everybody agreed, and that nigga broke down in tears.
- 36:06Speaker 1: And it was beautiful because I watch him now and
- 36:10Speaker 1: I see all the work he put in before he
- 36:14Speaker 1: took the crown and after he got the crown.
- 36:17Speaker 2: He is a true king.
- 36:19Speaker 3: When you heard him talk about your and whacked out
- 36:21Speaker 3: mirros and posting the tailor freestyle, I I saw you
- 36:24Speaker 3: retweet it and say it was the Edibles. What were
- 36:28Speaker 3: your thoughts when you first heard.
- 36:29Speaker 1: That's my nephew. Man, he's a rapper man. He's supposed
- 36:31Speaker 1: to speak his mind and tell his truth. Yeah, that's
- 36:34Speaker 1: the way he felt, you know what I'm saying. And
- 36:36Speaker 1: he has the right to say that. I'm his big
- 36:38Speaker 1: home boy, So I have to take what's given to
- 36:41Speaker 1: me from his perspective because he's speaking truth, and the
- 36:45Speaker 1: truth shouldn't hurt you, It should make you better.
- 36:48Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I'm one to accept truth when it's brought to me directly.
- 36:53Speaker 1: He feels that I shouldn't have played that damn I
- 36:56Speaker 1: was on him edibles, my Nigga, I gotta be more
- 36:58Speaker 1: careful you, right, nephew.
- 37:01Speaker 3: I mean there was like an AI transposed version of
- 37:03Speaker 3: you on that song, which was crazy, right, Like Yeah,
- 37:05Speaker 3: that shit was diabolically like I don't even know, like
- 37:10Speaker 3: one of the weirdest things.
- 37:11Speaker 1: But the crazy part is I can say it. What
- 37:14Speaker 1: happened was what had happened was That's how Nigga said.
- 37:17Speaker 1: What had happened was I did a collaborative post with someone.
- 37:22Speaker 2: You know, you do a.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Collaborative post and you do a lot of those, right,
- 37:25Speaker 1: So when I do it, I don't listen to the music.
- 37:28Speaker 2: I just see Jen and Juice because it's my brand. Right.
- 37:32Speaker 1: So when I posted, I'm thinking I'm posting Jen and Juice.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I don't know what song it says. I don't I'm
- 37:37Speaker 1: not hip to everybody's music.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Right. Then I get the word Nephew didn't like what
- 37:43Speaker 2: you did? What did I do? You play some music?
- 37:47Speaker 3: What music?
- 37:48Speaker 2: Then I had to go look at them. I'm like, oh,
- 37:50Speaker 2: that's cuz damn.
- 37:53Speaker 1: So then I deleted it, called nephew, left him a
- 37:57Speaker 1: message because he ain't picked up. He was working on
- 37:58Speaker 1: this shit. I left him a message, Nephew, it's uncle Snoop.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I got the message. I apologize. I was fucked up.
- 38:06Speaker 1: My bad.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Did you feel like at all, like weird about like that?
- 38:12Speaker 3: Like Drake using your voice?
- 38:14Speaker 1: Man? I don't want to be in nobody's shit. Man,
- 38:16Speaker 1: I like being in my own shit. You know what
- 38:18Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Because you didn't know that was happening. No, I didn't
- 38:21Speaker 3: to me like if you were gonna do that, like
- 38:23Speaker 3: you should like tap in, like, hey, I'm gonna use
- 38:25Speaker 3: your voice on some shit.
- 38:27Speaker 2: But see I'm such a big figure. It's I'm Uncle Snoop.
- 38:31Speaker 1: I'm accessible to everybody, so everybody feels like they can
- 38:34Speaker 1: because I don't have too many parameters when they come
- 38:37Speaker 1: to me. But when it comes to beef, that's a
- 38:40Speaker 1: real parameter that I do have. I don't get in
- 38:42Speaker 1: nobody's beef. I'm usually the one who ends the beef,
- 38:45Speaker 1: but if it's out of my reach, then I step
- 38:47Speaker 1: out and allow two men to get an understanding. And
- 38:50Speaker 1: that's what I feel like, these two men and two
- 38:53Speaker 1: rappers should establish where they don't need me to take
- 38:58Speaker 1: side or jump in. I'm from no West, so my
- 39:01Speaker 1: heart lies on the West.
- 39:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Well, when it comes to this ship, you gonna handle
- 39:06Speaker 1: your business because you from the motherfucking West. You don't
- 39:09Speaker 1: need no help. And if you needed help, you wouldn't
- 39:12Speaker 1: have to ask. I would have been on the double.
- 39:14Speaker 3: That's fair. What are your thoughts on the lawsuit?
- 39:21Speaker 2: Next question?
- 39:22Speaker 3: I didn't got to ask.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Next question? You know, we in on the West, we
- 39:27Speaker 2: hold court in the streets. Guh.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Fair See, that's that's all. Yeah, that's a fair point.
- 39:32Speaker 2: That's just what we call it.
- 39:34Speaker 3: YO on this new album is there's there's a I
- 39:38Speaker 3: love the way you ended it. The negotiator was hard,
- 39:41Speaker 3: it's it's it's a lot of sonics on this album.
- 39:43Speaker 3: There's a lot of dope, like what I feel like
- 39:45Speaker 3: what you all were able to do was also like
- 39:46Speaker 3: shine a light on some features that weren't necessarily like
- 39:50Speaker 3: household names that have been like doing their thing for
- 39:53Speaker 3: a while. Was there any anything that didn't get finished
- 39:59Speaker 3: feature in time for like that almost you knows cross
- 40:03Speaker 3: the finish line making the album, or that you were
- 40:05Speaker 3: trying to make happen that just didn't end up working out.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Nah. We were specific about what we wanted.
- 40:12Speaker 1: We had a white board in the room, white board,
- 40:15Speaker 1: not a white boy a board, and the nixt thame
- 40:17Speaker 1: you had a white boy in the room, white board,
- 40:19Speaker 1: b old ard, and we would write down, you know,
- 40:23Speaker 1: the songs accordingly that we thought that would make it.
- 40:26Speaker 1: And then we had another list called shit out of Luck.
- 40:28Speaker 1: So the Shit out of Luck was the songs that
- 40:30Speaker 1: didn't make the album. So we would always look at
- 40:34Speaker 1: these and then look at Shit out of Luck and
- 40:35Speaker 1: be like, which one?
- 40:37Speaker 2: So give you a perfect example.
- 40:39Speaker 1: It's probably not the answer you're looking for it, but
- 40:41Speaker 1: I think it's good we had the album right here.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Then we're looking that Shit out of Luck.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I don't like this one song on the album, and
- 40:52Speaker 1: Draine really fucking with it either, So we're trying to
- 40:55Speaker 1: figure out what should we do.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Or how can we make it better?
- 40:58Speaker 1: So I say, hey, that motherfuck over there on Shit
- 41:02Speaker 1: out of Love, that's a hit if.
- 41:04Speaker 2: You just touch it. It's sticky, situation, fire, banging fire.
- 41:10Speaker 2: That motherfucker was over there.
- 41:12Speaker 3: It wasn't even gonna make the album, no way.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I had to go fish hooking back in and say, cuh, nigga, you.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Hear what I'm saying on that.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Yeah, no, you're going in.
- 41:22Speaker 1: And you hear if you touch that music and put
- 41:23Speaker 1: all that and then when it changes into.
- 41:25Speaker 2: The oh my god, it's an experience for sure.
- 41:29Speaker 1: So that was one of those records where I had
- 41:31Speaker 1: to go save it rather than records that didn't make it.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Was there like other attempts of you guys doing a
- 41:39Speaker 3: version of this throughout the years, because we always hear
- 41:42Speaker 3: like Dre is so like I don't know how many
- 41:45Speaker 3: times we've heard about the Detox and how many times
- 41:47Speaker 3: it's been restarted, Like did you guys ever attempt to
- 41:50Speaker 3: do this specific mission of an album and it just
- 41:54Speaker 3: didn't end up coming to fruition in the past.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Nope.
- 41:57Speaker 3: So this is the first time.
- 41:58Speaker 2: The don't miss.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that motherfucker don't miss when me and him say
- 42:03Speaker 1: we going in, we're locked in.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Yeah. We never locked in after this.
- 42:07Speaker 1: The last time we locked in was the last meal
- 42:10Speaker 1: when it was like, Hey, card I need you to
- 42:11Speaker 1: mix my album and I sat up there with him
- 42:14Speaker 1: and he mixed every song, but he didn't produce every song,
- 42:18Speaker 1: but he heard all of my lyrics on every song.
- 42:20Speaker 1: So when I got to certain songs, when we got
- 42:22Speaker 1: to that's that shit, he was like, you got you
- 42:24Speaker 1: in DLC, gotta write this again. So he made me
- 42:27Speaker 1: like rewrite certain things, and when we did the wrong idea,
- 42:30Speaker 1: he loved badass verse and then my verse. He was like,
- 42:33Speaker 1: I like the way you started, but you got even
- 42:35Speaker 1: to change. That's why when I changed, I said I'm
- 42:37Speaker 1: down with P and d r E A real nigga
- 42:39Speaker 1: from the motherfucking LBC. I just looked like this, I
- 42:42Speaker 1: stay down with the twist. I'm real with this some
- 42:45Speaker 1: deepest abits. I gave you a pound, then I gave
- 42:47Speaker 1: you a wife a kiss. I had to dip because
- 42:50Speaker 1: y'all was full of that bullshit. Yeah, so he made
- 42:52Speaker 1: me change all of that when it wasn't even his beat.
- 42:56Speaker 1: So now when we lock up on this project, it
- 42:59Speaker 1: ain't like that. It's like I'm producing you snoop. So
- 43:03Speaker 1: that means when you come over here, you sit down
- 43:05Speaker 1: and you follow my instructions. And I wanted That's what
- 43:09Speaker 1: I wanted. With all of the shit that I'm doing,
- 43:11Speaker 1: I was missing that last piece, that musical piece that
- 43:14Speaker 1: was dynamic and transparent with how I'm living right now,
- 43:17Speaker 1: rather than you judging me off of Doggie style Blue
- 43:20Speaker 1: Carpet Paid the Calls. No, you're judging me off a
- 43:23Speaker 1: missionary twenty twenty four, How I'm Living and har I'm Rocket.
- 43:27Speaker 3: You had said when I first walked in, you were
- 43:29Speaker 3: saying that this is like this is like your main shit,
- 43:34Speaker 3: Like all the other shit are off side quests, right,
- 43:37Speaker 3: But the music has always been the lifeline. Like I
- 43:39Speaker 3: think about the algorithm, we're super dope, Like you've had
- 43:43Speaker 3: even the gangster grill shit, you know what I mean,
- 43:45Speaker 3: Like I fuck Mount Wesmore came out. You know what
- 43:47Speaker 3: I mean? Is it hard for you to still be inspired,
- 43:52Speaker 3: like to like get in the studio, and when you
- 43:57Speaker 3: lose any inspiration, what do you do to kind to
- 44:01Speaker 3: light that fire back to kind.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Of I think having a record label, I would never
- 44:06Speaker 1: lose interest in the studio. And then I got three
- 44:08Speaker 1: studios here, and then I got so many dynamic artists
- 44:12Speaker 1: that I love working with and love seeing them make records.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And then I'm always listening to what's hot and what's new,
- 44:20Speaker 1: and then I'm listening to what's old that last forever.
- 44:23Speaker 1: So it's like I'm challenging myself to try to make
- 44:27Speaker 1: shit that matters. Music is the universal language of all people,
- 44:31Speaker 1: and if you bless with the abilities to do it,
- 44:32Speaker 1: you're supposed to give up as much as you can.
- 44:35Speaker 1: I look at the ones that have passed away and
- 44:37Speaker 1: moved on and how their music remains and how their
- 44:40Speaker 1: music like really touches the soul because they put their
- 44:44Speaker 1: heart into it. And that's what I'm doing.
- 44:49Speaker 3: I gotta there's an album that I can't get on Spotify.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I only can listen to it on YouTube, and it's
- 44:54Speaker 3: a shitty upload, the two on three album.
- 44:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna get it back. I'm gonna get contrued. What's
- 44:58Speaker 1: going Like TVT had it in they l.
- 45:00Speaker 3: I remember it was out on TVT so flies by ship.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Dog like yeah, and they dissolved.
- 45:05Speaker 1: They were ones who gave me the first deal for
- 45:07Speaker 1: the East Siders two one three. They was the realist.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Motherfucker Mark Binnich rest in Peace was a great guy.
- 45:14Speaker 1: But they had that album and the label I think
- 45:16Speaker 1: went bankrupt. So they got to call Tom Wada knows
- 45:19Speaker 1: who got that motherfucker.
- 45:20Speaker 2: What's his name?
- 45:21Speaker 3: This is not on Spotify.
- 45:23Speaker 1: No, I gotta get I can get the whole album,
- 45:26Speaker 1: like you want to release it on death Row like remastered,
- 45:30Speaker 1: that'd be.
- 45:30Speaker 3: The way to go. I mean, I know when I
- 45:32Speaker 3: was talking to Warren, he said he has like a
- 45:34Speaker 3: pretty serious he do well. He's also got like unreleased
- 45:37Speaker 3: Nate Dog shit.
- 45:38Speaker 1: He got him and fred Reg both they got a
- 45:41Speaker 1: bunch of n Nate Dog used to go from Warren
- 45:43Speaker 1: G's house to Fred Reg's house. Then he used to
- 45:46Speaker 1: fuck with this dude named Lance. But Lance was his engineer,
- 45:49Speaker 1: so Nate would work out of his house. He would
- 45:51Speaker 1: make song after song. Him and Tupac got the same
- 45:54Speaker 1: work ethics.
- 45:54Speaker 3: Oh so that'll tell you how much unreleased Nate doalk
- 45:56Speaker 3: news because.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Too, him and Tuplac got the same work ethic. I'll
- 45:59Speaker 1: say that that's how he's on so many different hooks.
- 46:01Speaker 1: That's why when people will call, Nate would show up.
- 46:04Speaker 1: He gonna get that bag and give you a hell
- 46:05Speaker 1: of a hook.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Would you consider a version of like a like finding
- 46:12Speaker 3: some of that unreleased Nate dog shit and maybe doing
- 46:14Speaker 3: something with it on death row?
- 46:15Speaker 1: Hell yeah, And I got a beautiful relationship with his
- 46:18Speaker 1: mother and Miss Ruth, so we would make sure that
- 46:20Speaker 1: the estate get the majority of the fire.
- 46:22Speaker 3: And his son is dope, and hell's dope.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Come on.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Nigel played in the Snoopy Football League. He was my
- 46:26Speaker 1: quarterback for a couple of years.
- 46:28Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 46:29Speaker 2: I coached that kid. That's my guy.
- 46:30Speaker 3: By the way, shout out to the underdogs. I see
- 46:32Speaker 3: the poster behind.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Your speaking of the man. You know we don't play
- 46:34Speaker 1: no game that. I started the year up with that movie,
- 46:37Speaker 1: right movie. January twenty sixth, twenty twenty four is when
- 46:41Speaker 1: my mission began this year to become the man of
- 46:43Speaker 1: the Year.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Well, I mean you're on your fucking way. I mean
- 46:48Speaker 3: we got two weeks left.
- 46:49Speaker 2: You're gonna like what y'all doing Time magazine, What we're doing?
- 46:52Speaker 3: They put Trump on the cover. What he wasn't he
- 46:54Speaker 3: got it? Trump got it? How I don't know he
- 46:57Speaker 3: got it. It just dropped like, yes, we miss you,
- 47:01Speaker 3: Donnie oh Man. I also wanted to ask you. I
- 47:09Speaker 3: always wonder when a dope like like if a dope
- 47:12Speaker 3: disc record comes out, that's about you. But it's hard.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Okay, okay, check you out if you walk through my
- 47:20Speaker 1: hall on certain days, I got a radio station on
- 47:24Speaker 1: lit Life used to be Cadillac Music on a.
- 47:28Speaker 2: What was the name of that shit that.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Ski got oh dash, Yeah, they changed the lit Life
- 47:34Speaker 1: So I got a station called Cadillac Music. Every day
- 47:39Speaker 1: at about one point thirty two o'clock, walk down the hall,
- 47:45Speaker 1: Easy E Dreister and BG Knock. I'll be real, motherfucking
- 47:49Speaker 1: g and that shit be knocking and you hear me
- 47:51Speaker 1: singing it.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Yo.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I was gonna ask you what motherfuck drake, motherfuck shugar,
- 47:55Speaker 1: motherfuck death row yoh here comes to my left helse.
- 47:59Speaker 1: I know that that nigga Easy was on my.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Head, yo, And that started out with the calm tongue.
- 48:05Speaker 2: That shit so hard So when you first heard it,
- 48:09Speaker 2: did you think that falk no fuck them niggas.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Because that shit as hard as fuck, Like.
- 48:15Speaker 1: You don't want to give no nigga no credit with
- 48:17Speaker 1: a nigga dissing you nigga.
- 48:18Speaker 2: And we and we was on them nigga's head.
- 48:20Speaker 1: We had what would you do, We had dred, we
- 48:23Speaker 1: had all kind of shit. We was busting them upside
- 48:25Speaker 1: the head. But when they dropped that motherfucker, we felt
- 48:28Speaker 1: that one. That shit was hard, like we felt like
- 48:30Speaker 1: the other ship. We didn't put that motherfucker right there.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Because Easy was going in on the nigga. I was like, damn,
- 48:36Speaker 1: I love Easy, Why are you going so hard on me?
- 48:38Speaker 1: But then I had to think, look what you did
- 48:41Speaker 1: to him, Look what you said about him, Like you
- 48:43Speaker 1: didn't even get off to a good start with somebody
- 48:45Speaker 1: that you really loved.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Dog.
- 48:47Speaker 3: It's crazy because Warren was telling me there was a
- 48:49Speaker 3: certain point in time during the beef that like Easy
- 48:52Speaker 3: and Dre were like communicating yeah, and damn near You're like,
- 48:58Speaker 3: like I want to say, he said, they were like,
- 49:00Speaker 3: damn your neighbors.
- 49:01Speaker 2: And we didn't know it.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Yeah, so we we taking to be personal this nigga
- 49:06Speaker 1: Doctor dre making records.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Like he ain't. It ain't that serious for him.
- 49:10Speaker 1: That's what we have seen because we come from a
- 49:12Speaker 1: lifestyle of we do what we say, so if we're
- 49:17Speaker 1: gonna say it, we gotta do it. You know what
- 49:19Speaker 1: I'm saying, Doctor Drake come from there. We making records.
- 49:22Speaker 1: We took his shit personal. When it was just business
- 49:25Speaker 1: with him, he was just trying to get his business straight,
- 49:27Speaker 1: but we took it personal and dis niggas and when
- 49:29Speaker 1: we see y'all, niggas is on and pop and what's
- 49:31Speaker 1: happening the cub what y'all want to do?
- 49:33Speaker 2: When he wasn't like that. If he's seeing easy, he
- 49:36Speaker 2: just be like, what's haddening? Neighbors?
- 49:39Speaker 3: We didn't know that.
- 49:40Speaker 2: We think of this nigga lived in confetence.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Wardry was like they would see each other like, well,
- 49:44Speaker 3: they were taking the trash out all the time.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Wow, Like what come on? Man?
- 49:49Speaker 3: Who would have thought?
- 49:50Speaker 1: See, Warren was in the middle of all that shit
- 49:52Speaker 1: because he was there from the beginning game verway, so
- 49:55Speaker 1: all of them was his family members, so he could
- 49:58Speaker 1: never take a side.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Not that that was interesting.
- 50:02Speaker 1: They are easy And then y'all got us on that
- 50:03Speaker 1: draister knock out. Y'all, y'all answered us on some crip shit.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Y'all did that cause it's a great record, great motherfucking record.
- 50:10Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. That's what a real man
- 50:11Speaker 1: do when he gets stolen. He got to take that.
- 50:15Speaker 3: They it's been said that you smoked in the White House.
- 50:20Speaker 2: You have footage?
- 50:24Speaker 3: Did you smoke in the White House?
- 50:26Speaker 2: Do you have footage? I don't have footage.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Well, I might have not to answer that question, and
- 50:31Speaker 1: my lawyer advised me, I don't know how much time
- 50:34Speaker 1: you can get for that.
- 50:35Speaker 3: I don't think you got I mean, I think it's
- 50:36Speaker 3: probably uh. I mean, they just found cocaine in the
- 50:38Speaker 3: White House, to be quite.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Fair, and that nigga just got out.
- 50:42Speaker 3: He did get parted.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Well.
- 50:44Speaker 1: I ain't gonna tell on myself, but let me say
- 50:46Speaker 1: the bathroom had a nice aroma to it after I left.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Hypothetically speaking, someone who's passed passed through security at the
- 50:53Speaker 3: White House, how would someone sneak of pre.
- 50:55Speaker 2: Roll in in your sock?
- 50:56Speaker 3: In your sock?
- 50:57Speaker 1: That's fair, you know, to pat a nigga down if
- 50:59Speaker 1: you got them socks with those of that. They feel
- 51:00Speaker 1: like it's part of the sock. Nigga roll got out
- 51:02Speaker 1: of rolls in the sock, so he slide him in
- 51:04Speaker 1: the road. And they ain't for the I'm the d
- 51:06Speaker 1: O double. They not fora pat me down like that nigga.
- 51:08Speaker 1: They happy to see me.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Oh my god, Snoop Dog's here, he's here, he's work
- 51:11Speaker 2: right there.
- 51:12Speaker 1: How are you, mister dog? Can you go through the
- 51:14Speaker 1: metal detection? I have my lovely wife my daughter with
- 51:16Speaker 1: me as well. Yes, let them come through as well. Oh,
- 51:19Speaker 1: the Obamas are expecting you in a real way. Oh
- 51:22Speaker 1: you don't even have to go through that room. Then
- 51:23Speaker 1: when I get in, they like, hey, dog, the butler
- 51:27Speaker 1: want to holler at you. So I go in the kitchen.
- 51:31Speaker 1: The butler's a nigga like me, real nigga too, What
- 51:34Speaker 1: up deal?
- 51:35Speaker 3: Dub?
- 51:36Speaker 1: Want to hook you up something real because they out
- 51:38Speaker 1: there eating that rich shit. You want some wings or something?
- 51:40Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, I said, man, where can I hit something?
- 51:44Speaker 1: He said, go to the bathroom over there to the
- 51:45Speaker 1: left and spray that light saw two times.
- 51:48Speaker 2: When you leave, shout out to the bus nutler.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Oh shit, yo, Me and me and g Malone shout
- 51:58Speaker 3: to g Malone uh with Glasses, Yeah, I love that guy. Man.
- 52:02Speaker 1: We have what I call him my hip hop statistician.
- 52:06Speaker 1: We always have all of the stats on Snoop Dogg,
- 52:08Speaker 1: and he has all of the history when it comes
- 52:10Speaker 1: to defending me. He would be my lawyer and my
- 52:13Speaker 1: hip hop statistician.
- 52:14Speaker 3: Well, I have Doggy Style. I kind of have like
- 52:18Speaker 3: a one, two three at any given time of my
- 52:21Speaker 3: favorite album ever, it's doggy Style. It's really doggy Style
- 52:25Speaker 3: or Illmatic to be quite honest, what's one of those two?
- 52:27Speaker 3: And it's for me it's doggy Style. I mean doggy
- 52:29Speaker 3: Style changed my life, like I told you, But he
- 52:32Speaker 3: looked like doggy Style to me is like the kind
- 52:34Speaker 3: of epicenter of like everything in like you could trace
- 52:38Speaker 3: so much back to that album. But me and Glasses
- 52:41Speaker 3: always talk about how when we're talking about like like
- 52:45Speaker 3: there's like a you're a one of one, You're the
- 52:47Speaker 3: most famous motherfucker on the planet Loki, Like there's I
- 52:52Speaker 3: think you're You're like like are you like a self
- 52:55Speaker 3: aware to realize like you're you might be the most
- 52:58Speaker 3: famous person alive.
- 53:00Speaker 2: I don't know. I can't go certain places I know that.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Where can't you go to your mama house? No fucking
- 53:08Speaker 3: but like I mean you you might be the most
- 53:09Speaker 3: famous person like on the planet. Like who doesn't know
- 53:11Speaker 3: who you are? You know what I'm saying, Like there's
- 53:13Speaker 3: people who don't know who Lebron James is. There's people
- 53:16Speaker 3: who don't know even Donald Trump, you know what I mean? Like,
- 53:19Speaker 3: I feel that's crazy, keV.
- 53:20Speaker 2: I don't. I don't know.
- 53:20Speaker 1: I mean, you know, when you when you're in the body,
- 53:23Speaker 1: you don't have that experienced out of body experience. But
- 53:26Speaker 1: at the same time, I'm watching how my base is growing,
- 53:30Speaker 1: how the fan base of people that would never look
- 53:34Speaker 1: at me, speak to me, recognize me.
- 53:36Speaker 2: You have an Elf on the shelf, Snoop on the stoop.
- 53:39Speaker 3: Do you know how fucking crazy that is? And my
- 53:41Speaker 3: kid We've been doing Elf on the shelf with this
- 53:43Speaker 3: kid since he was a baby, right, And this year
- 53:46Speaker 3: he said, next year I want the snoop.
- 53:51Speaker 2: I said, what the d o? Double man? The kids
- 53:53Speaker 2: love him. He get down there and talk to him.
- 53:55Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 53:55Speaker 1: It's a big difference from a superstar that's up here
- 53:57Speaker 1: and the kids gotta can I have your Yeah?
- 54:00Speaker 2: Snoop Dogg. Good right here? Hey, what's that now you doing?
- 54:04Speaker 3: Yo? I wanted to ask you to speak shout to
- 54:06Speaker 3: Jason Martin the Homely Problem. Him and I had a
- 54:08Speaker 3: debate on my pod. We're talking about which label is greater,
- 54:18Speaker 3: Death Row or TDE. I said death Row because I
- 54:23Speaker 3: think of the tree that came from everything that came
- 54:27Speaker 3: from Death Row. But TD is right there for you, man, Like,
- 54:32Speaker 3: what has it been like watching just like some even
- 54:36Speaker 3: another like West Coast label, just even being in that
- 54:39Speaker 3: conversation like.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Well, first of all, let me say this Top is
- 54:43Speaker 1: my god. I love him. I watched his hustle, his
- 54:46Speaker 1: climb to where he got to, getting his artists together
- 54:50Speaker 1: as simbling all of that talent, putting the gangs to
- 54:53Speaker 1: the back, putting the talent to the front, keeping that
- 54:56Speaker 1: family vibe, making sure everybody supports each other, keeping a
- 55:00Speaker 1: legit clean business, non violent. Top deserves a lot of respect,
- 55:06Speaker 1: been clean, been righteous, got his boys working with him, got.
- 55:10Speaker 3: His kids and his sons are helping with Man like this.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Needs to be commended. Does the annual Christmas event that
- 55:16Speaker 1: beauty peaceful? They did the walk in Compton where it
- 55:20Speaker 1: was beautiful like the things that he does is overshadowed
- 55:24Speaker 1: sometimes by the music and the things that his artists do.
- 55:27Speaker 1: But he's got to be a backbone and the foundation
- 55:30Speaker 1: to this. And he watched for many years label executives
- 55:34Speaker 1: mishandled power and abuse artists and do things the wrong way.
- 55:39Speaker 1: So he just practices the great way of doing business.
- 55:41Speaker 1: That's why I love him and appreciate him and support him.
- 55:44Speaker 1: And he got my back and I got his back
- 55:46Speaker 1: when it comes to anything musically community wise, and that
- 55:50Speaker 1: needs to be commended. As far as what he does,
- 55:53Speaker 1: as far as the simboling and keeping his business legit.
- 55:55Speaker 1: You never hear no smut nothing negative about TDE. He
- 55:59Speaker 1: don't have that back lash of death Row that I
- 56:01Speaker 1: had to take on right and get rid of. So naturally, yes,
- 56:05Speaker 1: you would say that TDE is the new version of
- 56:08Speaker 1: death Row.
- 56:09Speaker 3: I mean, and also like better, a much longer run,
- 56:12Speaker 3: but better, because I feel like people forget how short
- 56:14Speaker 3: like the death Row run was, like.
- 56:15Speaker 2: We was the Michael Jordan bulls cuh right.
- 56:18Speaker 3: Like it felt like it was forever. But if you
- 56:20Speaker 3: really look back.
- 56:21Speaker 1: To Michael Jordan was ninety two to ninety six, Michael
- 56:25Speaker 1: when Michael Jordan win this championship with the Bulls.
- 56:28Speaker 3: It was ninety ninety one was the first one, right,
- 56:31Speaker 3: and then to ninety three and then yeah, I mean
- 56:35Speaker 3: two three Pietz.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Yeah, right, so we went up to ninety six.
- 56:38Speaker 1: I say ninety six cause that's when Tupac came, right,
- 56:40Speaker 1: Dupac came in ninety six and he passed away in
- 56:43Speaker 1: ninety six, So you got to think about that's how
- 56:45Speaker 1: long our run was, ninety two to ninety six.
- 56:48Speaker 3: Yeah, TV's going on nine to now. I mean, and
- 56:51Speaker 3: TD got R and B and he got the biggest
- 56:54Speaker 3: one of the biggest pop stars in the world, Sissa.
- 56:56Speaker 1: And they got that new girl she shees supers. They
- 57:00Speaker 1: like they keep hitting you upside the head with shit abs.
- 57:03Speaker 1: So motherfucking schoolboy, Q Jay Rock Sir, Inglewood Sir.
- 57:08Speaker 2: Like they just flood in the game. And it's like,
- 57:11Speaker 2: you got to commend.
- 57:11Speaker 3: That ras from Long Beach.
- 57:13Speaker 1: So we at Death Row we look up to them
- 57:18Speaker 1: as opposed to the other way around.
- 57:20Speaker 2: And how it used to be.
- 57:21Speaker 1: He used to be they'd look up to us because
- 57:24Speaker 1: we was the big fish in the small pond. Now
- 57:26Speaker 1: I's like they sat in the board setting the trend
- 57:28Speaker 1: and the things that his artists and what they're doing
- 57:30Speaker 1: is things that I can follow and do for my
- 57:33Speaker 1: artists and for myself. That's what the game is about,
- 57:35Speaker 1: learning and getting information and not being too big to ask.
- 57:39Speaker 1: I called Kendrick maybe a year and a half ago
- 57:43Speaker 1: when I was overseas and I had watched him perform
- 57:48Speaker 1: at the Paris He had did a show in Paris
- 57:50Speaker 1: on Amazon, and I was so fucking intrigued with his
- 57:54Speaker 1: show and his showmanship and the way he had his
- 57:57Speaker 1: shit together. I hit Terrys Mare and I said, cook
- 58:00Speaker 1: me k dot number. He gave me his number and
- 58:03Speaker 1: I called cause. I said, man, how the fuck did
- 58:06Speaker 1: you do that?
- 58:07Speaker 2: Show? Man?
- 58:07Speaker 1: What I got to do to make my show like that?
- 58:10Speaker 1: And he gave me some simple shit about like just
- 58:13Speaker 1: keep doing the shit you do, and but it was
- 58:16Speaker 1: so much information in that small conversation that I ended
- 58:21Speaker 1: up making my show like even better. But that's me
- 58:25Speaker 1: not having an ego and reaching out to someone who's
- 58:29Speaker 1: younger than me, flyer in me to open in me
- 58:32Speaker 1: and got a tap on some shit that I need
- 58:34Speaker 1: to get information on.
- 58:35Speaker 3: Would you see would you say? Because I feel like
- 58:39Speaker 3: that is one thing about you, Snoop is it feels
- 58:41Speaker 3: like you are like as big as you are, as
- 58:43Speaker 3: legendary as you are, You're like you have a lot
- 58:45Speaker 3: of humility, Like you you're willing to like step aside
- 58:47Speaker 3: from your ego. Would you say that like that is
- 58:51Speaker 3: a key to longevity.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever you put out to what you're gonna get. Like,
- 58:57Speaker 1: it's a lot of shit that be happening to people,
- 59:00Speaker 1: and then you wonder why. It's the energy that they
- 59:03Speaker 1: put out, Like I went through mins early because that
- 59:07Speaker 1: was the energy I put out. So, like I told
- 59:09Speaker 1: you when I got to The dog Father, I was
- 59:10Speaker 1: trying to find a new energy and I've just been
- 59:13Speaker 1: sticking with it and it is what it is. You
- 59:15Speaker 1: got to find the energy that the universe provides for
- 59:18Speaker 1: you to keep you in a safe space. And some
- 59:21Speaker 1: people don't do that. They always go to the negative
- 59:23Speaker 1: energy or they try to find ways to you know,
- 59:25Speaker 1: impress people instead of trying to be the best version
- 59:28Speaker 1: of themselves.
- 59:29Speaker 3: That's fair, that's fair, man. Look, Missionary is out. It
- 59:32Speaker 3: is a great body of work.
- 59:35Speaker 1: What what would you rate it on a So when
- 59:38Speaker 1: I got a new dog album, I ain't even talking
- 59:40Speaker 1: about wanted ten just snooped off.
- 59:41Speaker 3: I have two fool listens, so you can't give me
- 59:44Speaker 3: no radio. So that's what I'm saying. So I was
- 59:46Speaker 3: at the TD thing last night.
- 59:48Speaker 2: I came to your mixed up. You had all that
- 59:50Speaker 2: good music.
- 59:51Speaker 3: So on my on my way to your DJ at
- 59:53Speaker 3: the Teah event, Well I came. I came to your
- 59:55Speaker 3: thing last night, so on my way to your thing,
- 59:57Speaker 3: I listened.
- 59:57Speaker 1: By the way you DJing first at the TD event
- 59:59Speaker 1: when you walked in KIV, you was rocking.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: You had the party rocking and got some rounded and
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: I couldn't see you no more.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: This was crazy. Forest Whitaker caught a crazy straight on
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: the album. By the way, he says lier than.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: I said, it's the only boy that that that Ron Well,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: he's in the room discussing. It was like, what Ron
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: with that? Oh Forest, Okay, let's go.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I would say, I mean, dude, I would say this
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: like it would be just I mean, I can't really
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: give you, like a serious rating off off of because
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: because even like on our way over here listening to
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: it for a third time, it just felt good.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: It's one of them things gonna ruin you.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: I think all the great albums do.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: That's what I was about to say.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: The Chronic album, Yeah, it became when it first came out,
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: g than it had to row. She thing had to grow,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: then Dreda, it grew a little bit more. By the
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: time he got to Let Me Ride, motherfuckers had lived
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: with the album and they had understood what it was about.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: So then when we get to Doggystown, that's what all
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: the expectation and anticipation because you didn't hurt all this
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: great shit. This has been so many years separated from
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: me and doctor Dre, so you expecting snooping Dre, but
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: you ain't heard it so long you don't even know
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: what the fuck it is.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Yeah, because it's new too, and it's.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Always been new. We've never been what they are.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Ye think about the records that we've done, they've never
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: sounded like anything that was out that year, and they've
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: never been in the world of I think.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: That's just kind of I mean, I think even like
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Central Seduction is like, no one has ever made a
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: song like that since or before.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: He read for writing that record for.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Me, such a great fucking record.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: He wrote it for himself. But then he said, I
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: don't want to say this record what you think you won't.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: I said, I'm going up might check, I'm going Figatto.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: When you guys like were getting like like finishing up
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: this album. Was this around the time like the Kendrick
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: shit was really because it feels like there's this West
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Coast moment that, like you know, my boy DJ Head
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: always says, like all the like everyone's setting it up
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: for like the West Coast to have another moment to
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: like run hip hop like you guys did in the nineties, Right,
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: do you feel that that same energy, like yo, like
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: kind of all eyes are on us over here now,
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: like it's a matter of like delivering now.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: With the records. I'm gonna tell you this hip hop
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: always shifts. It shifted from day one. East Coasts had it,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: They ran it. It was they whirl.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: They controlled the media, radio, look the look, the style.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: By the way, they still control the media for the most.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: They look, the style, the everything. Right then it shifted
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: the West Coast. We took it.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Yeah, we didn't ask for it. We took it. And
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: when we took it, we ran with it.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: We showed motherfuckers how you can have it outside of
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: New York and remain you while doing it. Then it
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: shifted back to the East coast because Biggie and them
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: came and took that motherfucker back. Then DM Mex and
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: all the niggas came in fifty, said jay Z, And
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: then nigga New York niggas was not playing nigga like,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: hold on, y'all gonna take some shit that we created. Nigga,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: Wait a minute, Boom took it. But when they took it,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: they was not respecting.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: The South, and the South has had it.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: They did not respect the South, but the West always
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: respected the South.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: So what the.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: South did was said, hey, let's call our cousins from
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: the West and asked them what they did. We just
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: gang bang and took our shit. Oh that's what you
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: gotta do, yep. And guess what else we did. We
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: made them do what we do. What you mean they
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: gang bang? Now, Oh that's all you gotta do. Cool,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: we gonna bounce, We're gonna get crunked, we're gonna put
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: these grills in our mouth.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: We're gonna talk about these strip clubs.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: We're gonna pop this players ship from down South, and
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: we're gonna take this motherfucking rap game, and we're gonna
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: hold it longer than y'all niggas had it. I mean, hello, jeez,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: they probably had the longest run. It's so good for
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: the South. Niggas rap like them now. Everybody stop me
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: when I'm stop me when I'm lying. No, I didn't
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: even wrap on something, but remember who saved me from death?
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: Row Master P?
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Where you from from?
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: New Orleans?
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: Hello?
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: South West connect We've always been there. It's just been
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: a disconnect with the East. So when the South took it,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: they don't want to give it back. The South don't
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: want to give it back. But there's somebody strong that
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: can take it from the South.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: That's us the West.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: I think that's what's dope about the timing of Missionary.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: You could have made that motherfucker to a cartoon that
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: should have been.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: Hard Missionary and gn X coming out in the same
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: like months.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Hey, hey, don't sleep on ice Cube album and the
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Cube album is dope.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: It's my egos, my shit. Great that it is so sensitive,
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: but there's even like the dog Pan album a few
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: months ago, the east side of shit is. I just
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: feel like it's like it's and I just hope that
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: is there anybody on the younger side of La hip
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: hop that you got your eye on that you're just
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: a fan of isn't necessarily associated.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: That Meet the WAPs, that's the name of Meet the Woops.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: I love him, Yeah, I love him because I love
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I love the Red Side, I love the JA. But
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: I love how the rap game on the West is
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: leveling out. Like for a while, you know, the crips,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: we was like dominate for sure, So now you're starting
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: to see young blood homies get it in and collaborate
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: and win and then do things on their own and
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: peace up and network.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: That's what the West is about.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: It's about And I command Kendrick for this too, for
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: bringing the Hispanics in as well, because that's what the
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: West is. We are made up of many cultures, and
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: basically Hispanic Blacks are the dominant off the top.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and there's such so many dope Mexican rappers out
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: of La right, So it's like the Coyote Lefty Gun
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: plays the.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Work that we do. You know a lot of times
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: we do work and it don't be broadcast. Like it's
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: an artist that I got on Death Row named Julean
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Tordaz who makes a mediachi music and fred Rick brought
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: him to me. He performs at the Dodger games and
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: does all kinds of things. Come to find out, the
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: girl that's singing on kendrick album is in his band.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, because he found her at the Dodger game.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: Hello.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: So this is how we work on the West. Like
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: his plug, his plug, his plug. That's why on that
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: song gorgeous? What I say last time I checked, I
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: was the plug to your plug. I'm the fucking connect,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: hear me. I am the plug to the plug.
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: The actual connect.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Hello.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Yes, the source, I'm the power, the source.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I can turn you off.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: Well listen everyone go get the album. It's incredible. The
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: vinyls Wild. If you guys want to a condom.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: You want a condom to spend around on your s
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: P twelve.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: Hundred literally, like you said, this is the clinic one.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Though you just want to get it. You got VD
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: the free one. What you're doing in here, Get you
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: a couple of rows and get on out of.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: Here in a paper bag. They send you out the door.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: And then you see you're a preacher on the way in.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Like what you're doing here? Brother? I just came to
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: take a physical. Brother is ain that kind of doctor though.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: The drink is everywhere. I mean, it's everywhere.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: We're working right now, okare right now. We're in our
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: wonder years, were having fun. We set in trends. We're
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: showing people that there's no such thing as age when
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: it comes to hip hop and business. A lot of
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: times we get categorized as far as like you're old.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: But they don't do that to any other industry, but
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: hip hop.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: No.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: So your holy stores are still torn, they're like fucking
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: eighty years old.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: But that's why we rewriting history with showing that there
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: should never be no limit on what you do based
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: off of how you do.
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you're still I mean you were, by
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: the way, For people who don't know, the reason why
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: you weren't at the pop out was because you were
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: in Canada with DJ Quick.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: You guys had a quick Warren g Yeah, dog Pound.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: We went over there to put the West you know
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: what I'm saying, put the flag back up. Somebody had
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: to go over there and do it, you know what
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: What was it like watching that moment though in Canada?
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: Being like fuck.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: How about we in my dressing room, all of us
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: before I get on stage, and we got it on
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: YouTube and we rocking to that motherfucker, seeing everybody he
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: bringing on stage, watching how young k Dot takes his leadership,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: roll into you know, the next level, having E forty's
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: voice come through the fucking speakers before he hit the stage,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: just seeing the how the level of how everybody was performing.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Then when he came out, that shit was like here
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: facts and that's what the fuck is supposed to be.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: I love it, man, the Missionary movie. I watched it.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: It's like you guys, by the way, for people who
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: don't know, there's like a twelve minute movie that you
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: guys dropped.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: And if you love Dexter, which I do, did you
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: watch Dexter fucking love?
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: So I'm mad that shit discontinued.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: No, no, they did, you see they they they dropped.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: First of all, they dropped a new Dexter like two
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: years ago. He survives, and then his son, you know,
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: his son, remember his little boy. His son's grown. So
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: he finds his son, his son kills him. A well,
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: I can't, oh, come on now, anyway, you know, I
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: love that there's a Dexter prequel that comes out, so well.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: I hope I did enough of my acting in this.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: Have this fucking hilarious twelve minute mini movie where you,
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: oh it was bro. We were driving over here watching
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: it and like we laughed out loud like three times.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: You had the one liners like when you get a
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: doctor dre You're like, you know, I don't like that shit,
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: but you guys are like in this fucking movie, like, uh,
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: I guess would you say mercy killing killing bad people?
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: We hit men that make hits, hit men.
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: That make hits. It was a nice metaphor, but it
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: was very Dexter.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Like, yeah, because we take care of the bad guys,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: so to speak. You know, as kids, we always watched
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: the Spider Man, Superman fight crime and.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: Like y'all smoke a fucking pedophile like off the rip.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: Yees see, we fight crime in a different way, you know,
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: we do things that the Lord don't do.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: How fun was that? And like who who? Like you
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: had some one liners in there that were fucking hilarious,
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: Like you just over here smoking and shit and you're like,
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: I'm trying to fix it. Spell.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: Well, that's about when me and Dre get together and
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: we find a great director like Dave Myers who really
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: understands us.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: Well.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: That was Dave Meyers director. She's like one of the
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: greatest video directors. It felt like some shit like when
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: I was like, it felt like some guilty, conscious shit planning.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: So when we all get together, we don't have no
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: problem with being funny and being hard at the same
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: time because we know what people love from us. Like
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: me and Dre always know that people love us when
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: we make records together and we rap back and forth.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: But when we ever in something cinematically, they love when
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: we had odds, they loved.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: When like when we did the wash, the wash was
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: so good.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: Come on one nigga, like just that the banter between
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: me and him, I'm like this person that person.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: But we always love each other.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: But we always have arguments, misunderstandings and disagreements that are funny.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: They're never too serious. It's like, man, they don't really
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: like each other. Be like, oh, that shit was funny
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: as a motherfucker.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: And then at the end the dude with the eminem
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Jordan's and then fifty cent shit, You're like, You're like, yes,
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: those are four thousand dollars, forty dollars take that and
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: then and then it ends with fifty cents drops.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Great Doctor Dred bad motherfuck ain'ty did he write that
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Doctor Dred is a bad motherfucker?
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: Man, I'm trying to tell y'all.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Man, he when it comes to him and Snoop Dogg,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: he always make me look the best.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: He make me sound the best.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Like it looked like all the lines and all this
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: shits look like, man that Nigga snooped up.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: But this is his mind knowing this is what you're
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: supposed to see.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: You gotta write a movie for y'all. Thank you say
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: it loud please. I told him that. I called him
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: last night because he was like, we do if we
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: do a movie, we need uh to get acting coaches
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: for And I'm like, Nigga, I don't need no motherfucking
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: acting coach.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: Nigga, I'm in the game.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: You just got to play yourself.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: Stupid No.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: But then he was like he this how dope he is.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: We do need acting coaching because these are going to
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: be roles that no one has ever thought of. Oh
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: so he thinks like that, he ain't thinking about like
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: what you see right now. On that twelve minute movie.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: We wouldn't even extend that. We would go somewhere else.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: When's the last time you watched Bones.
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: Jimmy, motherfucking Bone. I had that show on VHS about
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: three years ago. Yeah.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: I just wonder because like that was like your first time,
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: and I'm not gonna lie it wasn't a great movie.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: To me, it was. Let me tell you why it
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: was great.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: It's like it was like a hood classic.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: Let me tell you why it was great.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I got to act with Pam Grigg huh oh yeah
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: for three months in Canada, and then I got to
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: work with Ricky Harris. So the cast, Clifton Pile. Yeah,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: the cast helped me to become a better actor. Like
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: everything is steps and stages.
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: Like it Bones was before Baby Boy, right, Yeah.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: So when you're challenge with working with great actors and
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: a great cinematographer. Ernest Dickerson directed that movie. Who did Juice,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: did all the Spike Lee shit. He was a cinematographer.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: So working with those quality of people helped me to
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: take my shit serious because before that I was just
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: playing snoop. Though I would just go do a regular
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: role and just do some basic shit. After that, my
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: roles began to take on like more depth, and I
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: got serious about learning my lines and doing characters that
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: were not me that was so distant from me that
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: you would believe that I was actually that Personalso, I.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: Mean, yeah, you're like one of the all time movie assholes.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: And baby Boy for sure.
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: No right would you let me watch your kids.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: If it's the Snooping Underdogs? Sure, I don't know about baby.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: The underdog Snoop and the baby boy Snoop.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: It's like if the baby boy Snoop evolved, grew up
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: and like got a shit together.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Yeah that's what he is.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: He didn't move out of Event's house and now coaching
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: little league football talking shit for sure.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: Man, Well look, I appreciate you for sitting down with me. Man,
