- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone, welcome back to the Astrology for Beginners podcast.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I'm your host Stefanie Kate Boucher and I am so happy to have you here.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: This is the podcast for you if you have ever wanted to learn how to read a natal chart or were kind of interested in astrology and wished that you understood more about it but you didn't know where to begin or it seemed too complicated and you didn't have the time or maybe the resources to invest in learning it.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: My goal is to break things down for you episode by episode in the most simplified way that I can so that you can learn to speak the language of the stars.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you for learning astrology with me.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Today we are just one more time going to take a short break from our discussion on planets.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: I promise that we are going to talk about the outer planets in the next episode, but we are in the midst of eclipse season, which does give us some extra things to talk about.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: I probably wouldn't have covered these topics this early if we were not in an eclipse season right now.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: But I wanted to do it and I think it's important that we do because in my experience one of the best ways to gain a better understanding of the way astrology impacts our daily lives
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: and the way that certain aspects or astrological events have an effect on us is to pay attention to it in real time if you pay attention to what's happening in the sky on a regular basis you'll begin to notice the different energies that are available to you and your understanding will really begin to expand
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Just as one single example, something that a lot of people do when they are trying to get a feel for the energy of the different zodiac signs and how each of those archetypes impacts them and what they mean is to pay close attention to the moon and where it is and what sign it's in and what it's doing.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: because the moon is the fastest moving object in the sky it changes signs about every two and a half days and so over the course of a month or so or just one lunar cycle you can feel your emotions go through the entire zodiac
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: every month make some observations about the themes that were prevalent in your life over the past several weeks house themes will certainly come up too but you'll also be able to feel the overall flavor of a particular zodiac sign particularly because there's so much collective energy
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Rallied Around It.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Everyone on the planet will be feeling the energy of a particular sign for an extended period of time all at once.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: So again, those are just some examples of relatively simple ways that you can start keeping track of the current astrology, especially if you don't feel like you have quite enough knowledge yet or a firm understanding of how transits work or
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: How to Interpret What's Going on with Every Single Planet.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: If you are into this idea and you think that you want to track the moon in particular, you can sign up for my moon circle and the link to that is in the show notes.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: An Eclipse Gateway is simply the time that elapses between the first eclipse in an eclipse season and the last eclipse in an eclipse season which as I said each eclipse is going to be about two it's going to be two weeks apart and you're moving from a full moon to a new moon or a new moon to a full moon depending on whether the lunar or solar eclipse happens first.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Occasionally there are three eclipses in a single eclipse season but that's not the case this time around nor will it be the case when we have our next set of eclipses later this year.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Eclipse Gateways can feel like a rather strange sort of time to be living in.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: In one of my recent Moon Circle posts, I think I said that it felt a bit like sitting in a waiting room waiting for an appointment, waiting for someone to come out and call you in
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: But you have no idea where you are or what that appointment is for, right?
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: This is a weird, liminal sort of space where, I don't know, it can feel like you're just kind of out there hanging, dangling, and you don't know where you stand with everything.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: And you don't know what's going to happen next.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: You know something's happening, but what it is and what it's going to become later on, you're not so sure.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: that might sound kind of odd but that's kind of the most authentic way I know how to describe it but from a different standpoint what's really happening here is that you're in a time of transition you're transitioning from one way of being to a new different more evolved way of being you're moving into the next iteration of yourself in some way or with something or in some part of your life and sometimes
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: This is really obvious, like if you've maybe ended a relationship or you're setting new boundaries with a family member that you had a previously imbalanced relationship with or you left your job and you need to figure out a next step or you're looking for a new place to live or deciding whether to go back to school.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Or You're Thinking of Getting a Pet, right?
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Some changes are easy to pinpoint because they're very obvious and tangible.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Other changes aren't so noticeable, and we can miss the fact that they're happening at all unless we're paying close attention because they are very internal shifts and have to do with changing a perspective or changing the way we think about something.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: It can be a mindset thing.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: I almost did this with this last eclipse for those first few days I almost didn't notice something significant that was happening with me and my own world view or the view I had of my own life and I wasn't attributing this particular shift to being part of this eclipse season
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: And what this was, well, let me preface this by sharing a part of my natal chart with you so that it makes sense.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: I was born with the planet Pluto very tightly conjunct my ascendant line.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: And I know we haven't talked about Pluto yet because Pluto is one of the outer planets, which we're going to be covering next.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: But as someone who is interested in astrology, you might know a little something about Pluto anyway, because there's been so much talk about Pluto these last several months and about how it changed signs from Capricorn to Aquarius.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: It's a very slow moving generational planet and hadn't changed signs since 2008.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: And so having it move into Aquarius is a very big deal.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: I talked a little more about that by the way in the Aquarius New Moon newsletter I did back in February.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: I'll put the link to that in the show notes also.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: So if you want to learn more about what it means that Pluto is an Aquarius and it does mean very big things for everyone then you can go back and check that out.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: It's also a highly searchable topic.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Now, as an outer planet, the bulk of Pluto's impact is felt at the collective level.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: It helps define entire generations of people and it shapes the current culture as a whole.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: But the outer planets can impact us personally too, and this is definitely the case if you have one of the outer planets very prominent in your chart, say in the first house or on any one of your angles, those being the Ascendant, the Descendant, the Midheaven, the IC, or an aspect with one of your personal planets.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: But Pluto specifically represents transformation.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: It represents beginnings and endings, death and rebirth, sometimes loss but then sort of a rising from the ashes afterward.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: And with Pluto on one's ascendant line, change and transformation is going to be a big big thing in a person's life.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: that could be transformation of self and identity your image transformation related to the physical body possibly or one's appearance changing how you project yourself into the world and also having a strong desire to transform the world around you a person with this placement might see the world itself and society itself as something in need of transformation
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: So Pluto likes to transform everything it touches.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: And Pluto's methods are not always that gentle.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: It does not tiptoe around and ask how you'd like to get from point A to point B. Pluto will simply just knock something down in order to make space and create an opportunity to rebuild something else.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners featuring Stefanie Kate Boucher titled
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: But you go have a snack and later you come back and you build something else and the new sandcastle this one is actually way better than the original or it's more creative or innovative or it's stronger or you build it farther from shore so that it's more secure or something like that.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: These are the types of things that Pluto does.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: So needless to say, with all of this in mind about Pluto, reinvention has been a big thing for me.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: I have experienced a number of transformative events in my life that were big, big pivots.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: A few of them have been really jarring and not all that pleasant right in the beginning.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: and so lately over the last few weeks I had started thinking a lot more than I usually do about the parts of some of these more jarring events that have made me sad or that felt really scary old memories or experiences that started creeping in a little more often now we all do this from time to time we all rehash or reflect on parts of our lives that were more difficult even if we don't typically do this all the time
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: I'm generally a pretty optimistic person so I don't know why I was doing this more now maybe it was because of the approaching lunar eclipse that could have a lot to do with it it probably did I may very well have been getting ready to purge some of the perspectives and emotions that were no longer going to serve me going forward lots of us have been doing stuff like this during this eclipse season
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: just with this low-grade feeling of malaise like I said this malaise that had sort of been building over the prior few days and then
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: As I Laid Down That Night to Go to Sleep, an idea suddenly popped into my head and I just randomly thought, oh, you know what I ought to do tonight as I fall asleep?
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: I should visualize my life backwards, like in a reverse order, starting from right now and working my way back to childhood or as far back as I can go before I fall asleep and try to pull out all of the things that have happened or that I've experienced in my lifetime that feel like blessings.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's what I'm going to do, and that's how I'd like to fall asleep tonight.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: So I start to do this, and tons and tons of things started popping up into my head really quickly.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Some of these things were things that I obviously knew to be blessings and had always seen them as blessings.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: But some of the things that came up, in some cases to my surprise, were blessings that had been hidden inside the really hard stuff or even some of the scary stuff.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: Like I started spinning them, these experiences, into things that now felt lucky in hindsight.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: One example of this is that I am a cancer survivor.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: I had cancer a few years ago during the pandemic and, you know, went through all of the stuff that one has to do.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: I had surgery, chemotherapy, and all the things.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: And while not a day goes by that I don't feel grateful to have reached the other side of that, I do occasionally relive the feelings of fear that I felt then and the feelings of fear that survivors have to learn to cope with in the aftermath or the feelings of shock of having a health scare.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: At Any Time in One's Life, but particularly at a younger age when you never expected something like that to happen.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: And no one ever does expect something like that to happen.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: but playing this exercise out in my mind I started to feel on an emotional level rather than just an intellectual one all of the gifts that had come out of it as well as some of the sheer strokes of luck that I had had wrapped up into that experience like for example the fact that not only did
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Was It Detected Early?, which is great, but that it was detected when it was at all because it was pretty hard to find.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: And so the fact that it was found and found early was an enormous stroke of luck.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: It was a lucky thing inside of a thing that felt unlucky.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: And I was extremely lucky to have access because of where I live to some of the best hospitals in the country, another enormous gift.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: I was lucky to go through it with a supportive partner and family members.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: it had felt unlucky for quite a while to go through something like that during a pandemic when I had to be even more isolated than other people because your immune system is you know much lower when you're on chemotherapy and for a longer amount of time than other people and to not be able to have people come with me inside the hospital for treatments and things like that
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: but so lucky to have loving support in my life overall and incredibly lucky to have the privilege the beautiful privilege of reaching the other side healthy and very very lucky to experience some of the mindset shifts that came along with that experience like being able to see very clearly
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: In stark, stark clarity, what is important to you, what really matters, and how you really want to be spending the days of your life, and how you don't want to spend them.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: And having all of that come into such sharp focus.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: I think that one of the biggest barriers we have as human beings to living the life we want is putting things off because you think you'll be able to get to it later.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: And
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Not only is that often not true, but even if it is, sometimes we never get to it for some reason or another, and the sooner we can strip away that illusion, the better off we will be.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: So I counted up all of these gifts because they were really big ones and because it's still a relatively recent experience in my life as compared to, say, something that happened when I was
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: A Child or Something.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: But then I kept going farther and farther back into my life and there were just so many more good and amazing gifts than I could count.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: People I felt blessed to meet and know, places I felt so thankful to have been, experiences that I had had, projects I'd worked on or
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: Work I'd Been Able to Do, Love I Had Shared, Fun I Had Had, Accomplishments I Could Claim, even if they just were small ones.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: And it became very clear, all of this as I'm just trying to fall asleep, right, that life on any particular day is usually going to be more full of gifts or luck, if you want to call it that, or maybe we can call it beauty, right?
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: The Things That Cause Us Angst.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: I think the angsty things, if you count up all the moments in our lives,
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: but we make them take up more of the moments in our lives than what they actually were in terms of actual moments right and then we spend less time perseverating on the gifts we don't rehash that really pleasant hike or trip to the park or
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: The Beautiful Dinner We Had Over and Over Again for Months or Years on End, right?
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: So the good stuff can feel like it happens less often, when actually, if we're paying attention, the good stuff happens more often.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: This is what I learned from this exercise that I randomly had the idea to do right after the lunar eclipse and I've been doing this almost every night since then and it is really shifting my perspective of how life works.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: It changes the way I go through my day.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: I'm noticing more and more beauty.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: Pollyanna-ish
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: So one of the things that this eclipse season is about for me is letting go of some past hurts.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Lunar eclipses ask you to let something go, right?
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: So that I can be really open to the beauty that's available now and in the future.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: And that can start even by looking at the beauty in the past.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: This eclipse season is impacting me in other ways too.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: I also have some of the more tangible changes happening professionally and personally that I talked about near the beginning of this episode.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: I mentioned that some life changes are obvious and some are less so.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: and I just wanted to bring up this particular mindset shift that I am going through as an example of the types of things that an eclipse can bring that could go unnoticed and yet they still have a really big impact on the direction of your life moving forward.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: So in addition to obvious life changes, I would definitely encourage you to also keep an eye out for anything internal that feels different for you right now.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: Thought patterns that feel different to you, feelings that deviate from what's been typical for you up until now, or
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Old Memories That You're Suddenly Looking At From a Different Angle or Behaviors That Are Slightly Different Than Before.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: New Impulses Could Be a Thing Now.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: Also, this doesn't all have to happen in the short term.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Space of Time, spanning from the lunar eclipse to the solar eclipse, by the way.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Solar eclipses especially kick off new beginnings, so for some of us, it could take a few months to see what it is that actually began for you now.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: It might not have taken enough shape yet for you to see it now but in six months by the time we reach the next eclipse season you'll be able to look back on this time and see that something's different and whatever pivot you made will become clearer over time.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: Astrology for Beginners.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: which we call the Wounded Healer and if you're not familiar with Chiron yet that energy is always about the wounds that each of us carry often from very early in life that make us feel that we're not good enough somehow or that we're not lovable enough in some way.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: And as the wounded healer, it wants us to look at our emotional and psychological wounds so that we can work on healing and then also become a healer for others with similar wounds.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: So to have this eclipse take place in the sign that rules our relationship with self and have it be conjunct with the wounded healer, which is about the wounds we carry around our own lovability, it very much feels like an opportunity to heal and evolve into a stronger, more confident version of ourselves.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: which incidentally will help us relate to others better which is a Libra theme because our relationships are stronger and healthier if we're right within ourselves first.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: There's also a looser conjunction here with this eclipse with the lunar north node which represents our destiny or the direction we're ultimately headed in which just adds to this idea that it's
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: I'll talk more about the solar eclipse and the specifics of the astrology that will be taking place in the Moon Circle newsletter that will be posted right around the time of the eclipse itself.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: In the meantime, pay attention, like I said, to anything that feels different to you.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: Don't dismiss any new ideas you have now.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: They could become significant later on.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: It would be a good idea, I think, to write them down if you can so that you don't forget them and you can reflect on them later.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Like I said, especially in that period six months from now when we reach the next eclipse season, it can be
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: Always Interesting to look back on what was going on for you in the prior set of eclipses because you do sometimes see connections there.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: Pay attention to your dreams now too.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: They may contain important messages.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: And I would also just throw out there that it's pretty common in the days following a lunar eclipse to feel more tired than usual or like you're lacking your typical level of energy and motivation.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: So if that has been you over the past week or so,
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: You're Not Alone.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: You may even want a bit more alone time for a while.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: As best you can, give yourself that space to reflect and get plenty of sleep.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: Rest is really important.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: The pace of life will gradually pick back up again as we approach the solar eclipse on April 8th, so it's likely you'll feel the energy building as each day goes by.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm going to wrap this up for today.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: If you have an extra 10 seconds, please take a moment to rate or review this podcast.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: That will really help the show and make sure that more people can find it.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: I also encourage you to subscribe through whatever app you like to listen on.
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: That will ensure that you never miss an episode.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: That's all for today, everyone.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for being here and learning astrology with me.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: Have a great week and I will see you next time.
