- 0:00are you ready kids aye aye captain then let's
- 0:04investigate paranormal lens paranormal lens coming
- 0:12up what is the fine line between meme and egregore
- 0:17in terms of everyone talks about it and it becomes
- 0:21real how is this topic do you guys remember like
- 0:26the good old days when we started each episode
- 0:28with a question yeah okay i got a question for
- 0:33you Have you seen Spongebob? Yes. Yes. I feel
- 0:40like everyone has. Like, on TV, sure, but I mean,
- 0:45like, in real life. Have you seen Spongebob?
- 0:49No. Uh, no. Are you ready, kids? Aye, aye, Captain.
- 0:56Oh, who's this in Egregore, under the sea? Oh,
- 1:04no. Don't be a Spongebob scaredy pants! Mm. I
- 1:10am, though. I am. Me too. I am. I'm terrified.
- 1:13I'm scared of where this is going. Welcome to
- 1:17our podcast, where we take deep dives looking
- 1:19at various topics through a paranormal lens.
- 1:24So, let me list off Angela's credentials here.
- 1:28She is the co -host that brought you owls, cheese
- 1:33layers, uh... What other dumb shit has she brought
- 1:40to this podcast? What is the topic? Yeah. I mean,
- 1:45I feel like she's brought, she's brought a lot
- 1:48that were like, this is going to be dumb. And
- 1:51then it ends up being really good. Like. Yeah.
- 1:55Like even a couple of weeks ago when we talked
- 1:57about hierarchies, I'm like, I feel like this
- 1:59is going to be a very dumb episode or very convoluted.
- 2:04And it ended up being like, huh? Yeah. That's
- 2:08a thing. Well, that's exactly my point. That's
- 2:11my point exactly. The things that you guys think
- 2:15are going to be boring and, like, dumb are the
- 2:17ones that I'm, like, super hyped and, like, full
- 2:19-on serious about. No, they're never boring.
- 2:22It's just, like, we talk about the most serious,
- 2:25like, just from the title alone, you're like,
- 2:27this is going to be a serious topic. And then
- 2:29the next week, it's like, owls are ghosts. And
- 2:34then two weeks later, cheese. is a metaphor for
- 2:38a ghost. Now, right now, in this episode, SpongeBob
- 2:41is a ghost? Or is it a demon? Or is it a demon?
- 2:50Because the shit you guys are gonna hear while
- 2:53listening to this episode is gonna lean more
- 2:58towards the fact that SpongeBob may be a demon.
- 3:03Okay, but to Brianna's point, I do think this
- 3:07is the most serious topic Angela's ever... brought
- 3:10to the podcast. Oh, I'm full seriousness about
- 3:13this. And not Bigfoot being the Antichrist. No.
- 3:19That was another one I talked about. How could
- 3:21I forget? Did she have something about, like,
- 3:25Bitcoin, too? Probably. I wouldn't be surprised.
- 3:30There's also, you know, the whole phase of her
- 3:32wanting to summon Santa. Oh. And Bigfoot. read
- 3:39something to you later anyways back on topic
- 3:42um and you sent us a tiki talk it was by an account
- 3:48called tmi story time as in too much information
- 3:52story time and i think it's best if we just play
- 3:57this and we've done this a couple times it's
- 3:59playing like a a tiktok that we are reacting
- 4:02to uh let's play it right now and then we'll
- 4:05come back and talk about our thoughts and angela
- 4:09specifically what jogged this topic idea and
- 4:12what in this tiktok specifically like resonated
- 4:16with you so here's this tiktok by tmi story time
- 4:20this ghost story will have you questioning reality
- 4:22when i was in middle school i'm at my friend's
- 4:24house we're watching spongebob his mom storms
- 4:26in the room grabs her remote shuts it off in
- 4:28horror and goes you know you're not supposed
- 4:30to be watching spongebob in the most serious
- 4:32tone ever associated with spongebob squarepants
- 4:36and i'm laughing like if you only knew in my
- 4:38house we're watching the head beavis and butthead
- 4:41aeon flux felix the cat heavy metal i'm ruining
- 4:45your child lady and i go you can't watch why
- 4:48can't you watch spongebob dude and he goes you
- 4:51should ask her i was like i'm not asking i already
- 4:54know his mom's a church going lady right then
- 4:57i know it's in the bible you're not allowed to
- 4:59have fun like case closed dude why would i ask
- 5:01her and he goes no you should ask her and i was
- 5:03like all right hey why can't we watch spongebob
- 5:07and she goes i don't think it's appropriate to
- 5:10talk about it and i was like oh now i need to
- 5:13know why can't we watch spongebob and she goes
- 5:18If I tell you, you cannot tell your parents.
- 5:21You cannot tell your parents. And I was like,
- 5:23okay, all right. This is way more interesting
- 5:26than SpongeBob. The floor is yours, right? She
- 5:29goes when Brandon, my friend, was three or four
- 5:33months old. Great sleeper. Sleep in his crib
- 5:35all night. Never woke up. Never had problems
- 5:38with him. 3 a .m. one day, he wakes up screaming.
- 5:42I run into his room. There's nothing in there.
- 5:45There's nothing wrong. But he looks terrified.
- 5:48Not like a baby just crying. He looks scared.
- 5:50And I'm like, that's odd. Next night, 3 a .m.,
- 5:54screaming. I wake up. I run in. Same pattern
- 5:57for days. So I started to get quicker out of
- 6:00bed. And I'd walk in there. And one day, I open
- 6:03it. And a shadow runs out of the room and runs
- 6:06downstairs. And I'm like, oh, no. What is going
- 6:08on? So the next night, she set an alarm. For
- 6:123 a .m., she's right by the door when it's time.
- 6:15As soon as she hears the scream, she opens the
- 6:18door. The thing's in the room. It runs downstairs
- 6:21into the kitchen. She chases it, wraps around
- 6:24the corner of the kitchen wall, and she sees
- 6:27this thing sitting on the refrigerator. It's
- 6:31got these giant buggy eyes, this long goofy nose,
- 6:35a yellow square body, and it's rocking back and
- 6:39forth on the fridge going, ah! It was SpongeBob.
- 6:46Now, she is a religious woman. She was like the
- 6:48power of Christ. Whatever she said, she said
- 6:51some Jesus stuff. Went away. She never had that
- 6:54issue again. About a decade later, one day she
- 6:58sees her child watching TV, thumbing through
- 7:01the channels, and that fucking thing is on the
- 7:03TV. It's a cartoon. that's the day i realized
- 7:06that this lady who i had always seen as kind
- 7:08of one -dimensional had a lot more going on upstairs
- 7:11than i had previously suspected and i got a couple
- 7:14other stories with her and they are just as crazy
- 7:17okay so spongebob is a demon or what that that's
- 7:22my takeaway angela what's your takeaway well
- 7:25i don't even know if they necessarily like they
- 7:28said it was a demon but the story was freaky
- 7:31and let me explain why because Hold on. Let me
- 7:35get a drink really quick. This is how the Bigfoot
- 7:44is Antichrist started. She's like, let me take
- 7:46a drink real quick. We're talking about the frog
- 7:49man. Let me take a drink. Okay, so frog man,
- 7:52fuck the frog man. Bigfoot is Antichrist. This
- 7:56is serious, all of you. This is serious. Because
- 8:00keep in mind, I woke up at like... 10 a .m. and
- 8:05I was doing my normal scrolling on TikTok like
- 8:08I do when I wake up or whatever. When was the
- 8:10set to scene? I don't know, like two weeks ago
- 8:12or whatever. Two weeks ago. So this is very fresh.
- 8:14This is hella fresh. Maybe not even two weeks.
- 8:15Maybe more like three weeks ago. It was more
- 8:17than two weeks ago. Maybe like a month ago at
- 8:20this point. Okay. And I was listening to this
- 8:25because I love spooky story times like on TikTok.
- 8:28I love listening to them. They are so entertaining.
- 8:30People can bring in their stories and you can
- 8:33like... hear what people these people's stories
- 8:36are and so i was like just laying there listening
- 8:39to it and then i realized holy fuck i experienced
- 8:46something oh so similar to this so similar not
- 8:52to the point like i saw with my physical eyes
- 8:54but i had i had the worst dream this is I'm not
- 9:01even joking when I say this was the most terrifying
- 9:05night terror I have ever had in my whole entire
- 9:10life. It was a demonic Patrick Starr that was
- 9:17guarding the gates of hell. Okay, might I add,
- 9:21Patrick Starr is a main character in Spongebob.
- 9:25Yeah. And it was... Absolutely terrifying. I
- 9:34remember I woke up screaming. I was covered in
- 9:39sweat. It was terrifying. I cannot explain to
- 9:44you the level of terror this dream gave me when
- 9:49I had this dream. It was so vivid. It was absolutely
- 9:53terrifying. I feel stupid saying that because
- 9:56I don't necessarily even believe in hell or whatever.
- 10:02Maybe at the time I did, but now I don't. But
- 10:05whatever that was, I feel like it was some sort
- 10:07of equivalent of, I don't know, because it was
- 10:12absolutely terrifying. And I've never viewed
- 10:16SpongeBob, especially Patrick Star, the same
- 10:21since then. I don't know, whenever this was,
- 10:27it was in high school or something. And I occasionally
- 10:30had a few more dreams of this Patrick star, um,
- 10:34occasionally like scattered throughout the, the
- 10:38year or whatever. Um, but it, it really terrified
- 10:43me. And so when I saw this TikTok and was listening
- 10:47to it, I was in tears because I was like, when
- 10:51I tell people this story, they just think i'm
- 10:53so like it's still silly and really stupid but
- 10:56i'm like they don't understand the terror that
- 10:59was involved with this dream and it really it
- 11:04was like bringing me to tears because i was like
- 11:06oh my gosh there's someone else who has had a
- 11:08terrifying experience of some sort of like scary
- 11:12demented type um spongebob squarepants character
- 11:16um story and so that was bringing me down a deep
- 11:21dive of like oh my god i i don't even know i
- 11:27don't even know like what do you guys think of
- 11:29that can i ask you a question real quick uh -huh
- 11:32we've already established on the podcast we we
- 11:34briefly mentioned this patrick star encounter
- 11:37before in some episode i think it was unfairly
- 11:41wrapped up in some of the uh you know other uh
- 11:45stupider topics like owls or whatever this is
- 11:49not a stupid topic right now but like you know
- 11:51in the past we we've definitely done some stupid
- 11:53topics um we mentioned that you are on night
- 11:58terror medication so you actually do take medication
- 12:01for nightmares yeah was this before or after
- 12:08you were medicated oh way before way before okay
- 12:12was it was this was this one of like the inciting
- 12:16incidents like i need to be on medication because
- 12:18i'm dreaming about patrick star not not necessarily
- 12:22that i wasn't dealing with like night terrors
- 12:26on a daily um when i had this dream okay so that
- 12:30that kind of makes it more credible because it
- 12:33was before It was definitely an outlier at the
- 12:38time. It was before you had nightmares. Very
- 12:40random. I don't know. I don't even know. Because
- 12:45this was during high school. I wasn't watching
- 12:48Spongebob when I was in high school. I kind of
- 12:53slowly stopped watching it in middle school.
- 12:55So that dream was just really random to me. I
- 12:59don't know how else to describe it. And there
- 13:01was like... I also, I didn't say this, but there
- 13:04was, like, also other, like, scary SpongeBob
- 13:10creatures in that, guarding the gates of hell.
- 13:15But they weren't, like, the main characters.
- 13:16They were kind of like the fish, like the one
- 13:21that screams, my leg! if you know what i'm talking
- 13:25about kind of like i was gonna ask was it the
- 13:28my leg character yeah like that type of character
- 13:32like yeah that kind of looked like that but like
- 13:34more scary um okay so when when you say scary
- 13:39are you saying like hyper realistic scary yeah
- 13:45it was like hyper realistic like imagine like
- 13:48a uh a realistic version of patrick star but
- 13:53in, like, a twisted, demonic... Kind of makes
- 13:57me think of, like, have you seen those, like,
- 13:59quick edits of people who take, like, a cartoon
- 14:03character and, like, use Photoshop to crop, like,
- 14:07faces and, like, eyes of, like, actual people
- 14:11onto it to, like, make what it would look like
- 14:16realistically? Yeah. So, like, that, but, like,
- 14:21a little bit more demonic. Yeah, and scary looking.
- 14:24I don't like that. Yeah. Well, while we're on
- 14:29the topic of demons, let me read you something
- 14:32here. Speaking of demons, SpongeBob has received
- 14:37widespread critical acclaim since its release,
- 14:40with praise given to its characters, surreal
- 14:42humor, writing visuals, and animation. It has
- 14:45earned a variety of awards, including six Annie
- 14:48Awards, eight... golden real awards four emmy
- 14:50awards two baptist children's awards and a record
- 14:53amount of kids choice awards on the topic of
- 14:56demons i had to say yeah i mean like well okay
- 15:03but my point is they say demons no no demons
- 15:10in particular or insert your favorite like deceptive
- 15:15entity called a demon called a mimic called whatever
- 15:21you want a shape whatever and a demon yeah these
- 15:25these whatever entities they take on the persona
- 15:31of something familiar i mean there's a whole
- 15:34concept of familiars so you hear all the time
- 15:37even um we just talked about the forest entities
- 15:40you know they take on uh crying children right
- 15:44to lure you in the woods oh your paternal instincts
- 15:47instincts take place and you you want to go help
- 15:49the child or help this the person screaming for
- 15:52help um they take on these familiar archetypes
- 15:56what is more familiar to an entire generation
- 15:59than the most popular television show and a cultural
- 16:04touchstone for an entire two generations this
- 16:09is crossed over and a record amount of awards
- 16:13this is literally one of the most popular tv
- 16:15shows of all time this is everyone knows what
- 16:18spongebob is everyone knows who spongebob is
- 16:21even whether you're even demons rare yeah if
- 16:25you're one even one of the rare uh kids who weren't
- 16:29allowed to watch it as a child you still know
- 16:33what spongebob was I'm just thinking, like, if
- 16:36you suspend disbelief and you're like, okay,
- 16:38these demons or deceptive entities are real and
- 16:41they can take on the persona of familiar beings.
- 16:46I mean, let's be real here. Just suspend disbelief.
- 16:51Yeah, suspend disbelief. If you want to lure
- 16:53a kid into the woods, you're not going to be
- 16:56a crying baby. You're going to be Spongebob.
- 16:59But do you know what's interesting about that
- 17:02story? Like, if... Compared to an average person
- 17:07who's not into this stuff, and they're watching
- 17:10that video, they're just going to say this video
- 17:13was made up, and it's probably just, like, they
- 17:16probably were just saying that story to, like,
- 17:18scare the child from watching Spongebob because
- 17:21they're religious and think his brain were rotting
- 17:23or whatever. But what's interesting is that if
- 17:29she is telling the truth, she had, she's seen
- 17:34this scary Spongebob. figure before or before
- 17:40she even knew what it was a decade before the
- 17:43show came out yeah that's that's weird that's
- 17:48that's a subtle detail you don't pick up on but
- 17:50it was a decade before the show came out that
- 17:52she saw well if that's if this story is real
- 17:58That is terrifying. It wasn't she saw this demon
- 18:03thing and said that's Spongebob. It's she saw
- 18:05Spongebob and said that's the demon I saw 10
- 18:08years ago. That's the demon I saw 10 years ago
- 18:10when you were a child. Yeah, like a baby or whatever.
- 18:13Yeah. Wild. It's just like tapping into the whole
- 18:17Twin Peaks thing of the writers were tapping
- 18:20into something bigger or more spiritual than
- 18:25what they knew at the time. Was there a collective?
- 18:28Uh, not jargon. I guess I don't really know the
- 18:32word. Like, not, like, um, not, like, a word
- 18:35for demons, but, like, visuals for demons, rather.
- 18:38Like, known sightings or whatever that resemble
- 18:42Spongebob that they tapped into. Mm -hmm. I think
- 18:48that's a stretch, personally, but, you know,
- 18:51you never know. I mean, we're talking about demonic
- 18:55Spongebob. Like, I don't think there is, like,
- 19:02you can't say anything's too much of a stretch
- 19:04when it comes to this topic. Yeah, okay. Just
- 19:08saying. Also, this is, like, what, two weeks
- 19:12before Halloween? Mm -hmm. This is, like, primetime
- 19:15real estate for a paranormal podcast, and we're
- 19:17spending it on Spongebob. We're spending it on
- 19:19Spongebob. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Don't apologize.
- 19:24It's a good topic. No, it's good. It's a really
- 19:26good topic. This is crazy to me. What if this
- 19:30episode comes out the week of Halloween? It actually
- 19:34might. We were recording like two weeks before,
- 19:37but it might. This is our Halloween special.
- 19:40Halloween special. We're talking about Spongebob
- 19:43and Patrick Star being demons. You guys get a
- 19:46good representation of what's going through my
- 19:49mind, okay? I get it on Halloween. Huh? I love
- 19:54your brain sometimes. I gotta ask, SpongeBob
- 19:58has had so many legendary characters, including
- 20:00Nosferatu himself. Who would be the scariest
- 20:05character, in your opinion, Brie, to encounter
- 20:08as a demon? The hash -slinging slasher. No, actually,
- 20:15like, honestly, I think the... creepiest like
- 20:24if we're thinking back to like what we set is
- 20:28like the mold of what these demonic creatures
- 20:33look like if they're hyper realistic demonic
- 20:36photoshop looking things I think probably Squidward
- 20:44or actually Squilliam would probably be the scariest
- 20:53The hatch -slinging slasher would probably be
- 20:55pretty scary -looking. Like, handsome Squidward,
- 20:59or just, like, a Squidward? Just, like, a regular
- 21:02Squidward, but specifically Squilliam, not Squidward.
- 21:07What about you, Ben? What would you think would
- 21:11be most terrifying? I was gonna say, like, Plankton
- 21:14would be a terrible demon. Like, he reminds me
- 21:16of, like, the cockroaches, but... He's little.
- 21:19Yeah, you know our lore about the cockroaches
- 21:21in the closets, you know? Yeah, yeah. But Handsome
- 21:25Squidward? Not Squidward. Handsome Squidward.
- 21:28Handsome Squidward. But he'd be so handsome.
- 21:35That's what gets you. That's like a Jeffrey Dahmer
- 21:37of demons, you know? Oh, jeez. Anyway, do you
- 21:47guys have anything else you want to say? Because...
- 21:49Yes. I want... What? So... no i just there's
- 21:55there's something you want to go to the comments
- 21:57don't you i want to go to the comment we'll save
- 21:59those next because first i mentioned like the
- 22:02whole demon thing or deceptive entity i like
- 22:05the term deceptive entity i just came up with
- 22:07it while recording yes i came up with it during
- 22:11this recording okay so deceptive entity theory
- 22:14of you want to trick people and lure people places
- 22:18and Have people pretend you're a nice, sweet,
- 22:21innocent entity. You're going to be Spongebob.
- 22:23You're going to be someone familiar. We even
- 22:26know entities. Even our beloved Jocks knows pop
- 22:31culture. He knows Gravity Falls. And Ghost Adventures.
- 22:35And Sam and Colby. And Spongebob and Colby. Spongebob
- 22:41and Colby. No. Hashtag Spongebob and Colby. The
- 22:49other direction this can go is everyone knows
- 22:53Spongebob. If you think about the theory of egregores,
- 23:01do you think... If you aren't listening to this
- 23:06podcast, or if you're listening to this podcast,
- 23:09you know what egregores are at this point. If
- 23:11you don't, please rewatch and listen to some
- 23:15of our podcasts or look it up. Yeah. Just, like,
- 23:19throw a dart. And I feel like one in every three
- 23:22mentions Egregores at some point. Yeah. But what
- 23:28is the fine line between meme and Egregore in
- 23:33terms of everyone talks about it and it becomes
- 23:37real? What is this topic? The line between meme
- 23:43and Egregore is not anything I thought would
- 23:47ever come out of this podcast. No, but wait,
- 23:52Ben. That doesn't make sense! There are so many
- 23:55limited people who have the same experiences,
- 23:59and I will get into this when I read the comments,
- 24:01that have the same limited experiences as, like,
- 24:04these scary SpongeBob creatures that they have
- 24:08encountered. How is that an egregore? This isn't
- 24:12a wide -known thing. I'm not saying it's an egregore
- 24:16in the traditional sense. However, it is odd
- 24:19to me that SpongeBob... We believe heavily in
- 24:22egregores. I think all of us believe in the concept
- 24:24of egregores, that these thought forms can carry
- 24:27on a personality of their own. And you see all
- 24:29the time, fiction writers actually encounter
- 24:35egregores of their characters. So fictional characters
- 24:37being egregores is not a foreign concept at all.
- 24:41What happens then, that when the most famous
- 24:45fictional character of all time, this is the
- 24:48Mickey Mouse of two generations. What happens
- 24:51when that is released into the wild? Could there
- 24:54be a corrupted, demonic version of it that terrorizes
- 24:59others? Just where my head went. Good question.
- 25:07That is a good question. I mean, do you think
- 25:12at the baseline people could encounter Spongebob
- 25:15in real life? Just take the demon stuff out of
- 25:18it for a moment. Could Spongebob be an egregore
- 25:22to some people? it might be i want to say no
- 25:29just because it is a cartoon and most people
- 25:33know that cartoons aren't real so to believe
- 25:36in it to think because like the thing with egregores
- 25:39is like so many people believe in it it becomes
- 25:42like a real thing and i'm like But it's a cartoon.
- 25:47Like people know cartoons aren't real, but also
- 25:50at the same time, not all kids know that cartoons
- 25:52are real. So it could be kind of like the Bloody
- 25:55Mary effect where like so many kids believe that
- 25:57it's real, that it becomes a real thing. Yeah.
- 26:00You know, Brie, I have a really, I was thinking
- 26:02about this earlier. I have a question for you.
- 26:04Oh boy. Because I was thinking, there's really
- 26:07like two shows I feel like for. that span these
- 26:11same two generations in terms like memes and
- 26:14cultural like that take a hold on the the cultural
- 26:17sensation spongebob and the office and why do
- 26:24you i think it's more realistic to think that
- 26:27there's spongebob egregores and office egregores
- 26:31because like do you think a show like the office
- 26:34would spawn egregores like it's just like the
- 26:36actors just in the room with you it's like you
- 26:39know that's not a a ghost you know like is there
- 26:42something to like this being a very not real
- 26:44thing already yeah i don't know that's a realistic
- 26:51office experience yeah well because i was gonna
- 26:55say because i feel like i feel like more more
- 26:57people would think like if they're clueless would
- 27:02think that maybe that the office is based off
- 27:05of like something actually real and it is actual
- 27:08video from people working in an office and so
- 27:14maybe there is more egregores of the office but
- 27:18i i don't know you think you think so there's
- 27:21like egregores of the office characters i potentially
- 27:24i don't know that's i mean it's a silly question
- 27:28because No, it's actually not silly, actually.
- 27:32I wouldn't think there's egregores of either,
- 27:35but also I'm that person who knows that those
- 27:38characters aren't real and don't believe that
- 27:41they're real. But also I feel like the thing
- 27:46with egregores too is like you're putting your
- 27:50energy and belief that something is real and
- 27:54that it is something that you will encounter.
- 27:57Whereas like... People see these characters on
- 28:02shows such as Spongebob or The Office, and it's
- 28:05like, well, Spongebob, if we believe they're
- 28:08real, or, like, we're not going to encounter
- 28:12them. They're in the ocean. Trying to place characters
- 28:16from shows and say, oh, there could be egregores
- 28:19out there, it falls in a different category from,
- 28:22say, like, The Hat Man or... uh slenderman or
- 28:27like these these creatures that people think
- 28:32could be out there and are afraid of they might
- 28:35encounter you know you kind of get what i'm saying
- 28:38makes perfect sense yes and i can agree i i do
- 28:42agree with that actually yeah uh but one final
- 28:45question before we go to the comments that angela
- 28:47has been wanting to share one final question
- 28:51yeah do you believe let's say i believe so strongly
- 28:56in spongebob and create an egregore spongebob
- 29:01for me do you think that creates an entity that's
- 29:04then out there of a spongebob egregore that others
- 29:08can experience or do you think like everyone
- 29:12individually has to believe in it in order to
- 29:15experience it even if it already exists out there
- 29:17if that makes any sense i don't know i don't
- 29:21i want to say if you believe enough, you could
- 29:28potentially interact with it in the sense that
- 29:32it is in your own mind. But I don't believe if
- 29:37only you believe in it that other people may
- 29:40interact with it. Okay, so you think an individual
- 29:44can create an egregore for themselves, but it
- 29:47takes a collective to create one that can be
- 29:50communicated with. Potentially, yes. Maybe. I
- 29:55don't know. So this whole thing is throwing me
- 29:58off because I don't think there are egregores
- 30:01of TV show characters out there. I don't think
- 30:04that's a thing. I don't know about that! Because
- 30:07there could be creatures out there that like...
- 30:15I don't know where I'm going with this. What's
- 30:18the difference between Slenderman and Spongebob?
- 30:22They're both fictional characters. i okay so
- 30:26i think we will have we have to come back to
- 30:29this topic a lot of these comments i am going
- 30:35to be reading will bring these these topics up
- 30:39that we are talking about okay good yeah this
- 30:41gets the comments in i know i know you're antsy
- 30:43my brain is hurting at this point let's over
- 30:46spongebob this is spongebob i had a long day
- 30:51okay We also had a long day. In a different sense.
- 30:57Come home from work and have to think about Spongebob
- 31:02being a demonic creature who could potentially
- 31:04be an egregore. It are like TV characters. Could
- 31:09they be egregores? This is not something I was
- 31:12actually prepared for coming into this episode
- 31:14today. I thought we were going to just like,
- 31:16I don't know. I had no expectations. We always
- 31:20underestimate Angela's topics. All right, people,
- 31:26you ready for this? Because you're going to get
- 31:27your mind blown with some of these. Or it's going
- 31:30to go down a deep rabbit hole with some of these
- 31:32comments. Oh, dear God. With ideas. Okay, first,
- 31:37I need to start off with my comment, though.
- 31:40Because I did comment on this video. You left
- 31:41a comment? Did you get any likes or comments
- 31:45on it? I got five likes. Wow, good job. Anyway,
- 31:49this is what I said. And keep in mind, I don't
- 31:51comment on TikTok videos. So this really left
- 31:54an imprint on me. I think I only left a comment
- 31:57on three other TikTok videos. And that was just
- 32:02me commenting a picture of my dog. Your first
- 32:07comment with words was yesterday. This one. It's
- 32:10this one. Yeah. Okay, I'll read it to you guys
- 32:14really quick. I had a similar experience with
- 32:16a demonic Patrick star in a dream. It was the
- 32:19creepiest nightmare I've ever had, and I never
- 32:22viewed the show the same way again. This story
- 32:24officially makes me question the show, and now
- 32:26I'm terrified. LOL. Okay. Yeah, sounds pretty
- 32:35normal. Yeah, yeah. For me. Okay, so this is
- 32:38the first one. I got a few, but we can go through
- 32:43them pretty fast, I feel like. But a lot of them
- 32:46are pretty important. Anyway, this is the first
- 32:49one. This freaks me out. My daughter was in the
- 32:52shower and started screaming and crying. I ran
- 32:56in and she was pale and she said she saw Spongebob
- 32:59walk across the bathroom. She said he was making
- 33:02a weird face but knew it was him. She was like
- 33:0610 and had never acted scared like this before.
- 33:09Still don't know what it was, but this adds more
- 33:11questions. Dot, dot, dot. I'm sorry, I was telling
- 33:18Angela this off camera. Spongebob is 100 % more
- 33:22scary than Patrick Star. Oh, yeah. If I'm in
- 33:28the shower and I just see Patrick being like,
- 33:30Ooh, hello, guy! I'd be like, shut up. But if
- 33:35I see Spongebob just like... Being, like, a little
- 33:39devil, I'd, like, be scared. Yeah. This person
- 33:44says... His creepy, scary laugh. Yeah. I could
- 33:49not. I could not. Anyway, this person says, you
- 33:52know, this is the second time I've heard a similar
- 33:55story. So, like, huh? Are you telling me you've
- 33:59heard another scary Spongebob scary story before?
- 34:03Or something similar? Because, like, what the
- 34:05fuck? I looked it up, and there's, like, Reddit
- 34:08threads, too, about it. Like, people do encounter,
- 34:11allegedly, like, scary Spongebob dreams or, you
- 34:15know, encounters in real life. It's terrible.
- 34:18It really makes you think. Well, for me, especially
- 34:20because I've had experience in something like
- 34:23this before. But, okay, I do want, this is a
- 34:27good place to, like, just briefly mention the
- 34:29flip side of our, you know, everyone knows about
- 34:31Spongebob. It could be an egregore. argument
- 34:34the counter argument would be everyone knows
- 34:37spongebob so it might be just on your mind it's
- 34:40subconsciously if you're having a nightmare you
- 34:43might have spongebob be the the entity or the
- 34:46the character you projecting your nightmare on
- 34:48type of thing psychologically i feel like that
- 34:52makes sense why would i be dreaming about it
- 34:54like into high school when i haven't watched
- 34:57it since like late elementary and early i'm not
- 35:00talking about you i'm talking about these people
- 35:02in general like the one story was like a 10 year
- 35:05old that was taking a shower and was scared she
- 35:07saw spongebob running by who knows was spongebob
- 35:09on the tv was she just you know having a bad
- 35:12day a lot of anxiety projecting that those fears
- 35:15onto spongebob maybe she was watching the halloween
- 35:18special with nosferatu or something i mean you
- 35:21never know you really never know Alright, this
- 35:26is the same type of thing. This person says,
- 35:28not Spongebob, but the Red Devil thing from Ren
- 35:31and Stimpy. My daughter saw it in her room, and
- 35:35then several years later, saw it on Ren and Stimpy
- 35:38and freaked out. And it's before they saw the
- 35:41cartoon itself, which actually kind of adds some
- 35:43credibility to it. Maybe. maybe like you can
- 35:48you because nowadays especially like we can always
- 35:51be like oh yeah i've never seen that show but
- 35:53like we're constantly we're in the age of technology
- 35:57and we are seeing clips of things constantly
- 36:00of like different shows different movies things
- 36:03that were like oh we've never seen that before
- 36:05we can easily say oh we've never watched that
- 36:08but Probably 60 % of the time we've seen some
- 36:11sort of clip online. Yeah, it could have been
- 36:14in the background. You could have seen a clip
- 36:16of it online. You never know. There could be
- 36:18a lot of factors leading into this. And hindsight
- 36:21bias. It works both ways. You could see Spongebob
- 36:25and then be like, oh, that was the thing I saw
- 36:2710 years ago, even though 10 years have passed
- 36:29and it has zero resemblance other than being
- 36:32a square. A square is a common shape, you guys.
- 36:36It doesn't mean it's Spongebob. Yeah. There's
- 36:39just a theme of kids seeing scary or waking up
- 36:42seeing scary things in their nightmares. And
- 36:45then their parents being like, okay, calm down,
- 36:48Bob. Well, that was nothing. It was just a dream.
- 36:49And then years later showing them, you know,
- 36:51Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon and their nightmares
- 36:54actually like a TV show now. Yeah. And it's like,
- 36:57huh? This person says, assuming we live in the
- 37:02multiverse, there should be infinite variations
- 37:05of literally anything we can think of, including
- 37:09an interdimensional Spongebob eggwork war slash
- 37:12demon. I've seen enough impossible shit that
- 37:16I would believe someone that told me this experience.
- 37:20They should listen to this episode. I feel like
- 37:22we used half of those buzzwords already. Yep.
- 37:26I was like, oh my god, we're already talking
- 37:29about that. That's so funny. Can your second
- 37:32comment ever on TikTok be replying to that guy
- 37:35saying, listen to Paranormal Lens? I feel like
- 37:39these are all just reiterating points we made
- 37:41before, which is interesting that people are
- 37:44coming to these same conclusions. Exactly. Even
- 37:47without a podcast. So what are our final takeaways
- 37:50here? Where do we land on this? We can read comments
- 37:55all day long, but has this changed our mind at
- 37:57all about Spongebob? I know it has for you, Ange.
- 37:59What about you, Bree? I mean, not really. I do
- 38:04like the coined phrase, a deceptive entity, though.
- 38:10I do like that that has come out of this podcast
- 38:13today. In the same boat, I like the thought of
- 38:17a lot of these concepts. I like the thought of
- 38:20a lot of them. My brain is like, it's Spongebob.
- 38:24like yeah but also like isn't it odd to you like
- 38:29this is just like where i land i don't believe
- 38:31a lot of this stuff but i think it's odd that
- 38:35us i mean think back nine years ago when we first
- 38:39met do you think nine years later we'd be comparing
- 38:42spongebob to you know demonic thought form entities
- 38:46and like this is very strange you can draw that
- 38:49parallel and actually is somewhat coherent you
- 38:53know Yeah, no. I got... I'm thinking nine years
- 39:00ago, Bree, at MSU in college, what I'd be doing
- 39:06right now, and I'd be, like, getting ready for
- 39:10the MSU paranormal, like... archaeology tour,
- 39:15whatever we did in October. Every year. They
- 39:19don't have the balls to talk about Spongebob.
- 39:22No, they don't have the balls to talk about Spongebob
- 39:24being an egregoric, thought -formed, demonic
- 39:28creature, but we do now. We graduated. We grew
- 39:35balls. Thanks for listening to this week's episode
- 39:46of Paranormal Lens. I got one more point I want
- 39:49to make. I got one more point I want to make.
- 39:51I'm sorry. Okay, so. Okay. So do you know how
- 40:01there's like a theory or not necessarily a theory,
- 40:04but some people who write books or do TV shows,
- 40:10they do like ceremonies or like, or not ceremony,
- 40:15but stuff. or take mushrooms to get inspirations
- 40:19for an idea or something like that. Sure, yeah.
- 40:24Did Stephen King write all of his books high
- 40:27or something? Yeah, one of them for sure. He
- 40:32was high on cocaine the whole time. The person
- 40:34who wrote Alice in Wonderland was definitely
- 40:38high the whole time. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 40:43But do you know how they say... When you're on
- 40:47shrooms, that you're connecting with spirits
- 40:49and that you can see spirits. What happens is
- 40:55Spongebob was based off a mushroom high of some
- 41:00sort. A hallucinogenic, an induced hallucinogenic
- 41:06episode. Yeah, and this is where they got the
- 41:09inspiration from Spongebob from. You know what?
- 41:12I could entirely see that. Yeah, 100 % it was
- 41:15Spongebob. I bet somebody got like super high
- 41:20on mushrooms and was like watching their fish
- 41:23tank and they're like, what if these fish were
- 41:28like people? What if this squid was like handsome?
- 41:39What if this Patrick was like star? What if this
- 41:43starfish could - talk what if this spongebob
- 41:50was a workaholic and could cook cook could cook
- 41:56what if he could cook what if he could cook but
- 42:03do you know but do you know how they say like
- 42:06if you're on shrooms you can like yeah yeah interact
- 42:10with spirits or whatever and allegedly allegedly
- 42:14i never done that To the point I'm connecting
- 42:18with spirits, at least. But... Did they connect
- 42:26with a Spongebob spirit? I mean, it's entirely
- 42:30possible. Like, what? There could have been a
- 42:33Spongebob spirit in their fish tank. Hallucinating
- 42:36enough on Spongebob to see, like, to get the
- 42:39inspiration of the Spongebob show. Is this a
- 42:44spirit? And is this why... so many other people
- 42:48have seen it because it's already a spirit and
- 42:51they just connected with it on shrooms or something
- 42:53oh my god there's another comment one second
- 42:56one second i need to find it where is it where
- 43:02is it where is it you you won't regret this one
- 43:06hold on i know a podcast that never ever ends
- 43:10never ever end shut up this this is important
- 43:13this is important Welcome, everyone, to Paranormal
- 43:18Lens. God, where is it? Oh my god, I can't find
- 43:28it. But I know for a fact... We got time, if
- 43:32you want to search for it. Okay, hold up, hold
- 43:34up. Please stand by. Please stand by. Let me
- 43:37look for it really quick. One eternity later.
- 43:40I'm just gonna take a quick nap. It was about
- 43:43summoning SpongeBob, and there's people who do
- 43:45this. Not your next idea, Angela. You're not,
- 43:52no. You gotta keep her from summoning Santa,
- 43:57Bigfoot, and now SpongeBob? She's the liability.
- 44:06Yeah. I think she needs to have a meeting with
- 44:09HR to go over some rules. Some rules. Some workplace
- 44:20regulations. If you had to pick one, what would
- 44:25you rather? Would you rather Angela summon Santa
- 44:28or Spongebob? Spongebob. I'd rather Santa. Well,
- 44:36if she tries to summon Santa, I feel like she'd
- 44:39accidentally summon Satan. You know, the spellings
- 44:44are so close. That's why she's not allowed to
- 44:47do it. I honestly can't find it, but I know for
- 44:53a fact. I know for a fact I read this on here.
- 44:58We've been waiting for like 30 minutes. You better
- 45:00find this comment. I was reading it to you on
- 45:03the couch. When? Well, on here. Like, we were
- 45:08sitting on the couch together. Not while recording.
- 45:11No, not while recording. Are you sure this didn't
- 45:15happen in a different dimension? It was a dream.
- 45:18In a different timeline? Yeah, different timeline.
- 45:21Oh, I found it! I found it! Okay. So, look, man.
- 45:27I don't know, but I've heard some stuff about
- 45:30Spongebob. For real. I was actually on here yesterday,
- 45:34and there was a girl talking about Spongebob
- 45:37and how you can supposedly summon Spongebob.
- 45:40Because I guess this is a real thing. I think
- 45:43Spongebob is like a real demon. For real. That
- 45:48was the whole comment. Yes. oh okay so sure i
- 45:55mean you you can summon anything you know so
- 45:58i think we're gonna summon spongebob next no
- 46:01no no just because you can summon anything doesn't
- 46:04mean you should no i think we need to have an
- 46:09hr meeting and go over some regulations and rules
- 46:12and maybe some osha standards a few moments later
- 46:17we should summon spongebob on a tiktok live Thanks
- 46:24for listening to this week's episode of Paranormal
- 46:26Lens. If you liked what you heard, every five
- 46:28-star rating and positive review tells the algorithms
- 46:31we're a worthy podcast and pushes us out to more
- 46:34listeners. We appreciate each and every one of
- 46:37you, and we'll see you next Thursday for another
- 46:39paranormal deep dive.
