- Brandon Dirmann: Well, welcome once again to the Daily Word podcast. Hope you're doing well today, whoever you are and wherever you are. ⁓ my name is Brandon. In case we haven't met, I am one of the pastors at our church. And the Daily Word Podcast, the whole goal, the whole objective is to number one, give you an opportunity every single day to receive God's word. ⁓ we are from the Life Journal Reading Plan in ⁓ the ⁓ reading plan that's a I've said reading plan two times. Why am I doing that? From the Life Journal reading plan that we use as a church community, that's what I was trying to get to. ⁓ from that reading plan, we take the New Testament portion each and every single day and share something from it. And so we're trying to encourage you, but also I want to keep on saying this. ⁓ it is a it's a reminder daily to you that just like we spent time reading, asking God to speak to us, that in a real way, God really does want to speak to you. And so today, if you haven't already, take time. Whether it's 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 35, 45 minutes, take time to open the scripture, ask God to speak to you, ⁓ grab a life journal or ⁓ any Bible reading plan and start reading the Bible and letting God change and transform you day by day. That being said, today is June the 20th, and today's New Testament reading is first Timothy chapter two, and I'm gonna read to you today ⁓ from verse two. Paul Paul says this. I'm reading today the new living translation. I'm normally a new King James guy, but the new New Living Translation is what I happen to have with me today. And here's what it says: He says to this young son in the faith, Timothy, he says, Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority, so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by the goodness and dignity. This is verse three, it's what I want to get to. This is good and pleases God our Savior, verse four, who wants Everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. That's what stuck out to me. Verse 4. The New King James Version would say this way: that it is the will of God that all men come to the knowledge of the truth. It's the will of God that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. And the observation that I'm making today is that the coexist sticker that I have seen and you have seen on people's cars. ⁓ that that's that's not the will of God. That the cultural narrative of the day, hey man, you believe what you believe, I believe what I believe, that's not the will of God. That this ⁓ pluralistic, hey, we all have different ways of thinking, that's not what what the will of God is. ⁓ the will of God, Paul says to Timothy, it is that all men, now let's just consider this for a moment. You Go about your normal day, and I'm just gonna pretend like I know your day. So this might not be your day, but let's just pretend it is for a minute. You you get up in the morning and you you go to Starbucks. By the way, this is not my day. I actually don't even go to Starbucks that much. Somehow, probably because I talk about it a lot. People think I go to Starbucks every day. I don't. But if you want to shoot me a gift card, maybe I'll start going. Kidding. But let's just assume that you get up every day and you go to Starbucks. You see the baristas, you see ⁓ the Five or six, maybe ten people that are in the coffee shop and you drink your latte, you get your energy, and then you go to the gym. You ⁓ hit the gym and you see, you know, 30, 40, 50 people, depending what gym you go to. Maybe you go to a workout studio, an ISI or a burn boot camp or an orange theory or something like that, and you see all these people, maybe again, 10, 20, 30 people in there. And then you go home and you shower and change and you go to your office. And you see the 50 different people that you see in the office every day at whatever business you work at, and then you then you go to the grocery store and you shop and you see see all see all the people at the grocery store, and then you go pick up your kids from their sporting event, or maybe you go to their sporting event and you sit with all of the parents and all the people watching and think about how many people in just any given day that you're around. How many people, whether you know them or not, that you've come in contact with. Think about your neighborhood. You go on a neighborhood walk and maybe you live in a big neighborhood and you see cars driving by and there's people. Think about how many people are in our neighborhoods, in our city, in our community, in our our our our space that we live in. And oftentimes we're not thinking about all of these people. Do you know what the will of God is? Do you know what God's heart is? God's heart is the not some of them, not most of them. But that every single one of them, that all of them are saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. What we have to fight against in this pluralistic, coexist ⁓ society that we live in, is this notion that, well, yeah, you you just want me to believe what you believe. God just wants me to, you know, do the God thing. No, no. We have an eternal perspective, and here's what we know to be true: that. Eternity is real, and that there are real consequences for the sin that we have been born into, and that every single person on the planet will face eternity one day, and when they do, they will either receive eternal salvation and reconciliation with God because of a decision. To invite Jesus to be the Lord and to wash their sins, or they will face eternal judgment, punishment, eternal damnation, one translation says, for for for all of eternity because of their refusal to believe, or maybe because they never even heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible says that Jesus, he is the the only way, the He is the way, the truth, and the life, the only way to the Father. It's through him. And Paul says, Timothy, I want you to pray for your world. I want you to pray for kings and all who are in authority so you can live a peaceful and a quiet life. This is good and it pleases God, who wants everyone to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. My application for myself and for you is that we would we would begin to think. We would begin to talk. We would begin to. ⁓ approach and see life from a kingdom mentality that says, God, this life is temporary and eternity is real. And it's your will that every single person on the planet, but I'll just say in my city comes to know you. They get saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. And therefore, God, help me to start living in this reality and to leverage everything I can, to leverage my whole life. To say, God, the only thing that matters in light of eternity, it is that people would come to know you. God help me to be a soul winner. God help me to be an evangelist. God help me to be someone who everywhere I go, you're using me in a supernatural way to help people to know you and come to the saving knowledge of the truth. How do we do that? Well, Jesus would say this in Acts chapter 1, verse 8: you need the Holy Spirit to be my witness. So every day we say, Holy Spirit, fill me and empower me that I might go and I might be a witness for Christ. Today I want to pray for you and I want to pray for me that God would help us live that way. So in Jesus' name, I'm praying for myself and anyone and everyone who's listening. And I'm praying that in the name of Jesus, that God, you would fill us with the Holy Spirit and give us a conviction and a heart for those who are lost and who are far from you. God, I pray in the name of Jesus that you would. Be begin to fill us with a passion for souls and by your spirit help us to begin to live in a way that is hungry to see the lost saved. God, use us everywhere we go. Help us to see opportunities and use us to be those who who are winning souls for Christ. We thank you for it today in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen.
