- 0:08The athletic. And it is weak kabillion, and it
- 0:33definitely think we're all here. We're all here.
- 0:59you know, I think this might be Your room behind.
- 1:22You looks messy, sir. I'm just kidding.
- 1:24It's a joke. It's a joke.
- 1:28Don't be fooled by the background.
- 1:31Governor, with your very clean background.
- 1:35How are you this evening, sir? Is that the Riverwalk more like
- 1:39a piece of the Riverwalk? I think that's the museum.
- 1:45The museum that's downtown by the by the Riverwalk and what
- 1:51the name is but Yeah, just just recovering from hosting or only
- 2:00in only outdoor me, 45 degrees pouring rain.
- 2:05It was very Drake, Relays ask you, you know, we got it, we got
- 2:13a chance to see who the tough guys are on our team.
- 2:18But yeah, we made it through everybody's healthy and we can
- 2:21now move on first day of spring was yesterday.
- 2:25Was it really? Yeah, was so in true fashion,
- 2:30who is starting today but it was yesterday.
- 2:34Yeah, exactly, exactly. Mai-chan line tells me it was
- 2:38today yesterday. Yeah, welcome to Texas.
- 2:44Oh my gosh. So lucious.
- 2:48How are you this evening, ma'am? I'm doing well.
- 2:52I am going to help the governor out here.
- 2:56You found out who your tough guys and girls were.
- 2:59Yes. Yes, yes, absolutely,
- 3:02absolutely. I'm just saying, you gotta Gotta
- 3:12Give the ladies, a shout-out to you.
- 3:13Don't get yourself in trouble. It's very true, very true.
- 3:18How very director of you, I'm not a director of anything.
- 3:54I need a celery bumping title next year.
- 3:57Next year solution is going to be called the prime minister of
- 4:01track and field, right? So they can they can pay him 11
- 4:04more sense. That's right.
- 4:06Oh my gosh. Yeah, I am good.
- 4:10We are getting ready to go back on the road and head to San
- 4:16Diego. This weekend for a few
- 4:18competitions. We were at Stanford last week
- 4:22car. And classic was a solid opener.
- 4:24So everybody's healthy. That's all you can ask for
- 4:29absolutely take invite every what you want to be Love it,
- 4:36love it. Well, heading into our topics as
- 4:41a kind of question. I have a question.
- 4:44How are you big leak? I'm good at convincing enough.
- 4:52Anybody else have a problem that is that is akin to asking any
- 5:04female. Yeah.
- 5:06Are you hungry? No.
- 5:11No, I'm good. Hey Governor, this is twice.
- 5:16Right now, he is waiting in these Waters.
- 5:20Isn't he watched the show? Really funny?
- 5:36Is it not? Oh no.
- 6:43So how you guys ever, like, just go right to meet the next week.
- 6:49God bless you. Well, and then, they should be
- 6:53wants to Remind You by telling you, sending you your bill.
- 6:56Now, I got that yesterday, and I was like, oh yeah, right.
- 7:05All right, well, after our fun episode with mr.
- 7:09Daniel Bryan. Last week we have lots of
- 7:11comments and lots of things. So we wanted to talk about, you
- 7:15know, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of TV coverage for track
- 7:18and field and kind of what our thoughts were about it.
- 7:21So I'm posing that question to you all and you know what do we
- 7:24like and what needs to get better at who I should have made
- 7:28that face when I said that let me fix that.
- 7:55We talked about this before disrespectful that we have to
- 7:58pay to watch track and field competitions, right?
- 8:01Is the NCAA championships in. You have to pay to watch the
- 8:04NCAA championships. You have to pay to watch the
- 8:06final four. You have to pay to watch the,
- 8:08you know, the world, see what's baseball.
- 8:11Baseball deal, right? No.
- 8:14So then the day like, it's just it's Troublesome for me that,
- 8:18you know, one we're forcing the public to pay for something.
- 8:24So then the people that pay our only goal, I'll be like the Avid
- 8:26fans, right? So you don't you're going to get
- 8:27new fans by making people pay. That's that's why I want to
- 8:31start. It's like that's the best ugly
- 8:33part of it that in the fact that when they do this in the
- 8:37announcers are always as educated as, I think they should
- 8:43be move on what's going on around them.
- 8:46Okay. So so he jumped in and stole my
- 8:55Going to say, if you're not ready, I will take the Baton and
- 8:58go from there. You know you look I'll be honest
- 9:03as harsh as that sound that you were kind.
- 9:05When you said that they're not as educated as we think they
- 9:09should because I think it's worse.
- 9:10I think they are educated but they just don't do their
- 9:13homework. And so I don't ever want to
- 9:15publicly call somebody lazy, but I'll just say like what you just
- 9:19did some yes some you can infer. It sure some of Some of the of
- 9:26the information that is readily available to them, that could
- 9:31make a mediocre filler become a great filler.
- 9:38Just will require like five more minutes of conversation prior,
- 9:42you know, just ask a few more questions figure out where Saint
- 9:45Lucia is as opposed to Jamaica. Oh, you know, just stuff like
- 9:51that. Oh, boy.
- 9:53But besides that, you see it. But he's right.
- 10:04So how do we find out five minutes?
- 10:08Ask your he crosses, the finish line that Kyle Garland, missed
- 10:12the world record. Forget the NCAA Championship, he
- 10:15missed the world record by less than a second.
- 10:18It was almost as if they were surprised to find out and that's
- 10:21my issue. I go right in with you on the
- 10:24ugly because that shouldn't happen right and see him and I'm
- 10:27gonna tell you this see I disagree we can't call people
- 10:30educated who don't study. I mean yeah yeah yeah that means
- 10:35kind of what it what do you call that an oxymoron?
- 10:39Yeah, I don't know how to use words like you do, but it did
- 10:41this day, almost say to you, is that okay?
- 10:46So We had, in my opinion, I'm biased the most exciting sport
- 10:51on the planet, right? It's an absolute, the ring ring
- 10:54circus, and when it's at the Championships, there's no sport
- 10:58that created the excitement and constant momentum.
- 11:00They could go on the track, right?
- 11:03But we think we just don't, we never capture it.
- 11:06No, we never put it on a forum where we can see it and it can
- 11:09be. I mean for those of us who had
- 11:12that were fortunate enough to be in that building.
- 11:16What you watch the coverage. You saw had nothing.
- 11:19What was going on in that building?
- 11:21Yeah, it was especially the women.
- 11:22The women's week was out of control.
- 11:24Oh my God, they missed the boat on all the field events all the
- 11:27time. Yes, no.
- 11:29So when you have a condensed schedule, where you have a
- 11:34separate men's in a separate woman's meat and you've got
- 11:38essentially, two to three hours of action that never stops.
- 11:44As as someone that's commentating, you have to be one
- 11:48step ahead. And if you understand what's
- 11:51going on underneath the surface and you paint, that picture and
- 11:57things start to materialize, you of little, you can literally
- 12:01paint the picture as you go. And you can literally set the
- 12:04stage like, How many times have even watching the NCAA
- 12:10championships and not knowing who the, the particular Czar who
- 12:18is in it, what happens? If this happens, what happens if
- 12:23a team X gets third, what happens, if team X, and it's
- 12:29literally two days. So it's two days where you just
- 12:32building up to this. Crescendo and you have to do
- 12:37your homework, Mark, like these are things that the public wants
- 12:42to know, right? Like so that's the only things
- 12:45that like that I think is, are severely missed, but the little
- 12:50details man, like the little things mean a lot because things
- 12:57will just go right over your head and you won't even realize
- 13:00it. So here's You know me, I don't I
- 13:06don't really like excuses. Right now, we only thing doesn't
- 13:15rock with me to do it. So, so here's here's the thing,
- 13:19they call it what you want. I'm gonna call it laziness.
- 13:23And it's not every track and field commentator, but I do
- 13:27think it is the majority. And it's across all the
- 13:31networks, right? But from an NCAA perspective,
- 13:36it's so I'm in the building. I'm standing near Cape near the
- 13:42governor for most of them. So we got the same two hour time
- 13:46window that the TV hats, right? If me and the governor I know
- 13:54enough about our sport that we can tell interesting stories
- 13:59about the athletes on the track in between the events and make,
- 14:04you know, outrageous predictions and tell the context of.
- 14:08Yeah. But you know what, you know
- 14:10whether you think Russell's going to win or whether you
- 14:12think new just going to win is everybody understanding that
- 14:15like you could see a world record its own, it's only 768
- 14:18and they ran this. Like if we can do that in real
- 14:21time, then people who are getting paid to comment on the
- 14:27event could do that in real time.
- 14:30Every time I go home and watch one of these broadcasts.
- 14:34It feels very reactionary. Some exaction.
- 14:38It's like they're watching the track meet.
- 14:39Do the rest are sitting there watching it.
- 14:42Like my mom. Watches it.
- 14:44Yes. Yes.
- 14:45Like oh, that was really fast. What's the girl's name?
- 14:50What's cooler. Oh, like that.
- 14:54I got a better take on it even to the point of.
- 14:57Okay. So we talked about being
- 14:59educated. They some of them spend on an
- 15:03enormous amount of time, trying to sound educated.
- 15:06Okay. These are terms that should
- 15:09never be used by announcer Drive phase Reaction Time.
- 15:14Frontside mechanics. That's not mechanics.
- 15:17Bit Trail leg. It lead lap, right?
- 15:21Good. That's me.
- 15:22Arm badly armed because you really don't know.
- 15:26And that's you saying that you want to take away all the words
- 15:29that they use. No.
- 15:31No. But that, but that's the point,
- 15:32right? Instead of, I agree, instead of
- 15:34the race happening and then, while the replays going on
- 15:38person X is trying to explain to the audience what this technical
- 15:42thing looks like her supposed to look like, shut the hell up.
- 15:44And tell the story about the kid.
- 15:47Tell me that. Give me some context about how
- 15:51the Rivalry has. Built all year because they lost
- 15:54this race two weeks ago. But yeah, that yeah, I don't
- 15:57need you to tell me what you think, John Smith told you in a
- 16:01conversation one time about the drive phase.
- 16:04So here's a, here's the crazy part going.
- 16:06We're going in on the bad, right?
- 16:08Since we're going in the bed. Let me just let me drop one
- 16:12final bad mic and then we can move to goods and uglies or
- 16:15whatever. We we are the only Collegiate
- 16:21sport That is guaranteed that to either b or have opportunities
- 16:26at being better than anything that's ever happened on the
- 16:28globe, right? No matter who you watch, play
- 16:31college football, you don't watch the college-football game
- 16:34or college football performance and compare that immediately in
- 16:37a positive fashion to what happens in the Super Bowl at the
- 16:40NFL, right? Same, same in basketball, same
- 16:43in every other sport, but Jasmin more is the best American
- 16:48female, triple, jumper ever, right?
- 16:51Um. Oh yeah, boy, ever.
- 16:52They can't give her a ride or just 157, baby, almost broke a
- 17:00world record and we've been at. We've been at that meat where
- 17:03world records were broken. There was a world best run by
- 17:05Arkansas, right? These are better than anything
- 17:08done on the pro level. So you got the grill, like,
- 17:12literally somebody handed you, the Hope Diamond, and you busy
- 17:14talking about us, a nice, big rock.
- 17:16Like they like they have the best product ever to pontificate
- 17:22about. About.
- 17:24And they always trying to simplify it for the Layman.
- 17:28Listen, Layman are not paying to watch these track meets.
- 17:32This is true. The reason if it's example to
- 17:35enter into that point like they don't, they're not not the
- 17:40simplify you don't simplify anything by talking about a
- 17:43drive phase because first of all, let's be clear and to my
- 17:48knowledge there's only really two people who know what that
- 17:50really means coaches. Has John and Trevor because
- 17:54everybody else just guessing it right, they are just telling you
- 18:01the number of people, okay? The number of people who use
- 18:04that turn that have no clue what it means, is amazing to me.
- 18:07And I am using that phrase that just use it because they've
- 18:10heard somebody say it, but you stole okay.
- 18:14Like you get so caught up in. Let's just use Terrence Jones,
- 18:18right? The big, the better story for
- 18:20that was the fact that the guy that's the first time he's been
- 18:23able Get to the meat and do his job, right?
- 18:25So let's talk about that. Tells that story don't tell me
- 18:29that his Drive sales with this because he didn't have a drive.
- 18:31They don't sell this face. So let's stop right there,
- 18:33right? I mean that that that right
- 18:36there is an excellent example as the audience member I am much
- 18:40more interested. If I'm learning from the
- 18:43commentators that this particular athlete has been
- 18:47running fast for a really long time, but in these moments
- 18:50doesn't come through and then oops.
- 18:52He Comes through. Now I'm way more interested in
- 18:56his championship, he just one right now with something else.
- 19:02I am not bashing Dwight stones but it would be nice to hear
- 19:07somebody talk about talitha and not remind us.
- 19:10That Joe Adam made the Olympic team eight times.
- 19:14But you know what? That's my mother
- 19:30was. But but the point is that if you
- 19:34keep regurgitating the same people for a tradition sake, Old
- 19:41people tell old stories because that's the stuff.
- 19:43They remember the best. Okay.
- 19:46So that's a great segue into the good, right?
- 19:49And I'm going to say this bringing John and important.
- 19:51Before you do that, John, John Anderson bouldin are and me
- 19:59worthy, track and field commentators.
- 20:02Yes, They are Emmy worthy. They're better than anything
- 20:06else that's out there, that's on.
- 20:08That's on this continent. So I'm going to go back on my
- 20:11soapbox. I don't know what the drive
- 20:13phase is. He never uses me.
- 20:17That's a fact. And with, and we're and you
- 20:23know, every Network kind of does it a little different as Dan was
- 20:28trying to, you know, get into. But but when Otto is allowed
- 20:33time to To pontificate mhm. Very rarely spends time
- 20:37pontificating on that nonsense. You tries to get stories in, he
- 20:41tries to give context. Yep.
- 20:44John Anderson. We all know takes time to look
- 20:49into backgrounds and find interesting things to discuss in
- 20:53his role. Now he's not the color guy,
- 20:55right? He's not moving play-by-play.
- 20:58When when Tiana had her opportunities to work with for
- 21:03NBC. Tiana knows what she knows.
- 21:06Right when they told her that she had to cover a segment or
- 21:10two about throws. I watched this child kill
- 21:13herself for two days, trying to figure out backgrounds and marks
- 21:18and context to the contest that she was about to have to speak
- 21:23on. She wasn't about to step out
- 21:25there and try to tell anybody about the technique of throwing.
- 21:29But she could tell an interesting story about why this
- 21:32person and this person or Rivals and what that means.
- 21:35Means to them, right? Virtues Of Glide versus spin.
- 21:39Nobody knows. Nobody cares.
- 21:41The throws coaches. Do you know what I mean?
- 21:44Like, that's the worst thing. You're trying to play you.
- 21:51You know, I'm listening to I do, I think he might have been
- 21:54commentating. The might have been the world's
- 21:56last year. Well, it's maybe those are
- 21:57trials or something. But he commented on the fact
- 22:00that he was ensured that Grant was over his lost at the Olympic
- 22:04Games. Mmm.
- 22:06Wow. You step the stage rocking it.
- 22:11The stage is that what now the audience is like, man.
- 22:15Like what happened? What can you get over the hump,
- 22:19right. That if you set the stage well
- 22:20enough, It elevates Whatever the result is zactly.
- 22:25Yes, it does. Yeah, I mean like I remember
- 22:29that I remember watching that when I came back from world and
- 22:32that was brilliant because Grant one.
- 22:34So there's a moment there where you should connect to that.
- 22:37At. But what if he lost?
- 22:39Either way, I'm more intrigued because I do told me or reminded
- 22:44me of what happened and the context behind it.
- 22:47Like that's you know, that's a pretty good at that.
- 22:52The Brits the Brits are great at home all day.
- 23:02So that's the thing, right? Like I think that I think that's
- 23:05why we all get so frustrated the good.
- 23:07I think we would all agree is we have some really good
- 23:11commentators, but it becomes bad because we surround them
- 23:16sometimes with people who won't do all the work and and then and
- 23:21then the worst part is, it's not even them.
- 23:24It's the way that track meets are produced in this country.
- 23:30It's somebody decided a long time ago that all field events
- 23:33need to be cans and we're going to give you a screen or canned
- 23:37and we're going to give you like the leaders jump or in best case
- 23:42scenario what we get into Double A's.
- 23:43We get third second and first, although sometimes they confuse
- 23:47that and they show us for jumps and they can't figure out who
- 23:49was which, but what they miss the best part about feel events,
- 23:56which is the drama of the back and forth, right?
- 24:00The like the best part about being a field of enter is that
- 24:03you get to respond here to what somebody else does, right?
- 24:07They misread okay. Okay, they credit her with
- 24:21having the five further. Jumps include history.
- 24:24Not true. Not true.
- 24:26They don't even mention Charisma Taylor, who lost her mind, you
- 24:30PR by over four feet, four feet. Yeah.
- 24:34Because clearly whoever wrote the article didn't they just
- 24:38looked at Jasmine's marks in comparison to what the market
- 24:41cities. Exactly.
- 24:52Me and Christie. We're sitting there.
- 24:54Mmm and Jasmine comes down and she does her first jump and me
- 24:58and him. And everybody else in the little
- 24:59area is like, it's like the NBA dunk contest.
- 25:02We're all like, it's over. It's over, it's around.
- 25:05But then, in the next round, Charisma, Taylor puts out a
- 25:09jumper, like, oh, actually. Yeah, there's pressure.
- 25:12Like, yeah, like, how do I Jessica 48 for in his prison
- 25:16goes 4710? Jasmine says, okay, well here is
- 25:2015 meters for you and then clear.
- 25:22Mangos. Okay.
- 25:22Well here's 48:10 for you. Yeah.
- 25:25Yeah. It turned into a competition is
- 25:27that in nobody talked about know, we was there just to the
- 25:33issue, the issue at hand and and I've thought about this just
- 25:36just listening to this the the back and forth.
- 25:40When you hear about what's going on in the booth in the NFL and
- 25:46the competition that's going on with, you know, the people that
- 25:51are already in the booth and the folks that are now knocking on
- 25:54the door, that is not happening in track and field.
- 25:58Where is the new blood? Where is it?
- 26:01Where are the younger folks that are that actually want to do it
- 26:06that are knowledgeable about it? I think what we're seeing and
- 26:09I've been on the inside I had myself, we have a situation
- 26:12where it's the same producers that produce these track meets
- 26:16and they have their favorites and there is and there is no,
- 26:20parity whatsoever, not the same conversations happening.
- 26:28What was that story when you get comfortable then?
- 26:32Who cares? Because you are you are judge
- 26:36jury executioner, right? One of the best stories of the
- 26:39NCAA me. Was Washington.
- 26:42Yeah, and because Washington was a lot more than the milers,
- 26:47right? Yeah.
- 26:47And all they talked about was the mileage.
- 26:49Now, I'm going to defend the group of little bit the, the
- 26:54announcers, because I think part of the problems with KS to me,
- 26:56that what the governor just said in the fact that, like, they
- 27:00have the same producers, and they've been told what to say,
- 27:03right? Yeah.
- 27:04So, I'm gonna go back to about, I think it was 2012, right?
- 27:08We want our first national title in Twelve by Wing, the 4x4.
- 27:12They didn't know it that they even know what they were.
- 27:16So focused on the performances of the me.
- 27:18They didn't realize the team score.
- 27:19Was that type that tight, right? So everybody jumped him about
- 27:22team scores. So every time somebody runs a
- 27:25race, that's big because that's 10 points for Stanford or
- 27:29Arkansas, Florida. They ate so much pump on the
- 27:31other Focus so much on the team aspect of it, that they don't
- 27:35recognize individual part of it. They've got to find a way to
- 27:38like this classes. Tell the story.
- 27:40He's that lead to those things. Yes, well, I like the don't just
- 27:44talk about the 10 points. There is a storyline that stuff
- 27:48done because like I said, we do it ourselves in real time.
- 27:51Oh, I'm sure that they missed completely.
- 27:54That would have drove drove Solutions crazy when he saw it,
- 27:58but he would have completely appreciate it.
- 28:00Jasmine more got snubbed for the Bowerman last year and in
- 28:06response her and her coach got in the lab, come back and
- 28:09brought this To us. Hmm, right.
- 28:13That might not even be true but man is that a great story?
- 28:16Absolutely. Okay.
- 28:17And if they were amazing, want to delve into a Jasmine, you can
- 28:20tell that story because that's always true, but that goes back
- 28:28and doing your education, right? Like you should know that the
- 28:32alphabet crew exist. You should know about the
- 28:36Bowerman snub. And if you're sitting there
- 28:39watching this Women's meet, you know, hey, that might happen
- 28:44again. Yeah, because Caitlin to he did
- 28:46what she did because Juju did what she did you not write.
- 28:49Like you could tell that instead of discussing the third heat of
- 28:53the 4x4 and who's running in it. Like I don't I don't care.
- 28:57Like just tell me that you don't mean, I gotta be much more.
- 29:02It's something like how many people outside of the Nerds and
- 29:09the true track heads? Even Even though the track has a
- 29:11Heisman. You know what I mean?
- 29:15Like, tell us that But yeah because because of his if it was
- 29:21a football player he got snubbed.
- 29:22You talk about all over here? Absolutely.
- 29:28He's got a chip on his shoulder. He's getting harder than he
- 29:31ever. Has working hard.
- 29:32He ever has. See all you mean, it doesn't
- 29:35take. I mean, just all you do is watch
- 29:39Jasmine prepared for the competition when she gets there.
- 29:42Right? She's on a mission.
- 29:44And as soon as she takes her shirt off, and you see how
- 29:47ripped her back is? Be like, oh my gosh, like this
- 29:50crowd has been working, right? So it's like at the end of the
- 29:53day like tell that story and honestly this isn't about the
- 29:56Bell, right? Because we did, I guess it is
- 29:59about the environment but although Bowerman did was no,
- 30:02let her know that she needed to be at her best at all times even
- 30:06went even though she was already on her best at all times, right?
- 30:09So this is like what do you think?
- 30:11I'm worried about it or not. I'm gonna continue to show you
- 30:13just how great I am. And that's what she's doing.
- 30:16And I think we've thrown this out in another context, but I'm
- 30:20here for it. And I know I've seen this in
- 30:22broadcast in other sports, particularly in gymnastics.
- 30:27If you want to tell the story of the team title, We all have a
- 30:32decent picture of who's really in the mix beforehand.
- 30:37Top 5 on both genders. My come up.
- 30:41Hmm. I was just about to say my cam,
- 30:43I come up, I want to know, I want to know what Mike Holloway
- 30:46was feeling after the women's 400.
- 30:49I don't want to hear you talk about the race.
- 30:51I want to see a clip and just Holloway, you know what I mean?
- 30:55I want to know what the Cure Nugent's coaches.
- 30:58Felt like when she took the title.
- 31:00From Masai Russell and to your, to your point.
- 31:04Clyde, as Sir, lucious is walking up, the back stretch.
- 31:10He is literally saying what he's thinking, I don't know.
- 31:14Sir Lucius realize took it out too fast.
- 31:17She just took it out too fast and that is something that is
- 31:21like I mean for for coaches with folks that are watching that are
- 31:27trying to learn, okay, how did this young lady run Fast.
- 31:31What happened? Like, those are things little
- 31:34things that you can grab and you can take that goes.
- 31:39Okay, so one of the best coaches in NCAA history, okay, just give
- 31:45you a lesson on how not to run that Championship race.
- 31:50Okay and that's those are things that you know, we miss, we miss
- 31:55Ali, harem Because we are, we know, we know it's coming, we
- 31:59know to what to look for but to give the the viewing public that
- 32:05Insight on those little things. I mean, come on now.
- 32:09That's I think NFL NBA, they're already there in the biggest
- 32:14thing that they miss the we miss out on its it.
- 32:18Jack like that, the whole like even the knowing public, don't
- 32:22know about, right? Every one of us has been in this
- 32:24situation. What goes on in the war?
- 32:27I'm up area. Yeah, yes, like, do the coaching
- 32:31that happens in the warm-up area on meet days.
- 32:34Do you know how many people don't realize that the vast
- 32:38majority of y'all's young people's performances?
- 32:40You Don't See Directly out there that you see it on the TV or
- 32:45you, like peek your head through a screen and then run back in
- 32:47and go warm. Somebody up.
- 32:49Like, that story is like, that would be epic.
- 32:54But these are, these are the things that because we care
- 32:57about all the nuts and the bolts and like, how awesome of a
- 33:00complete story that this is. And we realize that the story
- 33:03only gets its like, they read like our track meets.
- 33:07Get covered like a book jacket but you don't, we don't need to
- 33:10read the read the whole book. Look just read the book jacket.
- 33:13You get the general idea what's going on?
- 33:15Yeah. And it's very axe, man.
- 33:18I really do. Here's my proposal.
- 33:21So if more often are or more so if you have kids, you know what
- 33:25I'm talking about. But if not Peyton and Eli do
- 33:32their coverage of a live game, right?
- 33:35Phenomenal, Billet. So, nickel area live on Monday
- 33:39night is it's gold. Its Nickelodeon, Nickelodeon
- 33:45does the same and they've done. Yeah.
- 33:48All of it, right? So we need a version that
- 33:54doesn't necessarily give the coach's perspective, but like
- 33:58put the five of us on The screen at Pi p.
- 34:03With the meat going on talking about the background talking
- 34:06about some not necessarily the coach what they're trying to do
- 34:10but a tactic, you know what I mean?
- 34:12Like explaining what Washington was trying to do you know that
- 34:17type thing and that b coverage, alternate alternative coverage.
- 34:24Yeah. So y'all can go steal that but I
- 34:27just realized that it was said here, first out loud, That's
- 34:30right. I also I like the idea of being
- 34:35my okay. Can you watch a football or
- 34:40basketball game and 70% of time the cameras on the go, right
- 34:45through the Game? Stops it was like to be a head
- 34:46coach. Yeah, football player scores a
- 34:49touchdown. They watch them celebrate.
- 34:51They go, right? To the head coach or it's a
- 34:52split screen. Yeah.
- 34:54Right. You never know what the truth is
- 34:56very rarely. Do you see what the track
- 34:57coaches doing? Well, they probably can't find
- 35:02the track coach. Yeah, because because we can't
- 35:06get to the track. We can't walk in this way, but
- 35:16you can't walk back this way. Luckily, the power to be cleaned
- 35:28out up, but that's a whole nother issue.
- 35:30We don't need to get to that kind of hearing a lot of good.
- 35:33I'm just not hearing, no, no, no.
- 35:35So so so to read to revert to the good, God, it was good, John
- 35:40Anderson is good. The Brits are Ali nominal and
- 35:46and, and honestly it's because those people, you can tell that
- 35:51they do their homework, you could tell that they're
- 35:53interested in the narrative, the context, the Storytelling aspect
- 35:57of it. That's why they're good.
- 35:59We need more of that. We need to Triple that way more
- 36:04because the white stone was better before he was
- 36:07pigeon-holed into, I have to worry concerned about the team
- 36:10score, you know, he was much better before we date because
- 36:14they now that's all he talks about because that's what he's
- 36:16been charged to do. Yeah, right.
- 36:18Yeah. And why, why did we all like
- 36:21Robert Griffin last year? Because you told stories.
- 36:24Yes. Well, analogies, right?
- 36:26Ryan's. Get he.
- 36:28What I do too much. They can make the races seem
- 36:54interesting. Yeah just cause you ran distance
- 36:58well does not mean that you commentate it.
- 37:00Well and really all you got to do is watch any.
- 37:02And I mean, any meat covered by the Brits, whoever whichever one
- 37:08of them covers, the distance races.
- 37:09Listen, it could be a for 12-mile.
- 37:12It will sound interesting that you know why that is at least in
- 37:17my opinion. One the reason there's two main
- 37:20reasons, I love the bricks one. They are not above like calling
- 37:26a spade, a spade. If it said, they will really
- 37:28show you that it sucks and it's awesome.
- 37:31Yeah, right. And in the distance room,
- 37:35instead of like that very rarely do like what if the Brits put on
- 37:39a 5K race and you're going to watch it in its entirety, they
- 37:43all spend the entire day of the race talking about the race.
- 37:46They tell interesting stories about the people in the race and
- 37:50sometimes they get off the like you feels like Is free flowing
- 37:53and like, oh yeah, oh now, he's moved up to the front.
- 37:55Yeah, you know, they like but no them calling, people out them
- 38:00pointing out Shenanigans and bad moments is gold.
- 38:05Yeah, you know, you got all these distance people who know
- 38:09the truth about what I'm about to say, but it would be so
- 38:12awesome if they just told the truth about the DMR you know
- 38:15look it's each school's All-Star team.
- 38:18That puts together the DMR to get here.
- 38:20The chess matches? Whoo.
- 38:22Who actually shows up and runs. See that would make the DMR
- 38:25interesting to watch? Yeah, yeah, but instead of like
- 38:29look again we got the dope chart so then when you know, we know
- 38:33Kaitlyn to, he's not running on on NC State's DMR.
- 38:37But we're expecting their DMR to be top three because they were
- 38:40top free coming in. It's like see.
- 38:42But that's you sit in the audience up for failure within
- 38:45you take off for 24, important for 40 at 16 seconds.
- 38:50Exactly. Big saxophone, right?
- 38:54Yeah. Right.
- 38:55And so, and so the DMR is definitely a chest piece, right?
- 39:00You can cover that during like as the day is going because as
- 39:03people qualify in the eighth as people qualify in the mile, they
- 39:06may or may not be run on a DMR now.
- 39:09Right. And like, listen, well, so like
- 39:10you said, they were athletes all weekend, right?
- 39:20One ran that one ran what the the 8?
- 39:23And the other one ran the mile on the know.
- 39:24Do they went? Was the 12 here.
- 39:27It was the eighth inning, but it was, they are both on the four,
- 39:30by four by four. Probably the best.
- 40:12I would pay, I would pay the man to watch that because he could
- 40:16be because it's an absolute Clinic.
- 40:19You're talking about starts and everything.
- 40:22All the stuff you want to hear we talking about.
- 40:24Well. Okay so we all saw for instance
- 40:27like I mean I sent you since you guys the the video of of the 400
- 40:34by 400 hurdles final the world record.
- 40:38Okay. I mean If the viewing public
- 40:41understood The Angst, the nerves, the, you know, even the
- 40:48greatest athletes, and what they're going through, right
- 40:53before they walk into that Stadium, it would change.
- 40:57I think it would change the perception altogether because
- 41:01you know, once the lights come on, it's time to shine right and
- 41:05cream, Rises to the top. We see mind-blowing things, but
- 41:09there's Human beings and I have I don't think that track and
- 41:14field coverage as yet to really show you like because the you
- 41:19see the humanity in the warm-up area that is that is where one
- 41:24more barriers, what we're missing.
- 41:25That is where the coaches are like.
- 41:27Hey, that's that's okay. We're going to be okay, we're
- 41:34going to be fine, right? And that's the part that's
- 41:37missing. I think that part is really
- 41:39lacking. Aking in or television coverage.
- 41:43Yeah, we don't, we don't get the full monty as they call know, we
- 41:46don't. All right, all right.
- 41:49I'm going to move us on because we have to we have to not get
- 41:54that one. We've beat that one up, pretty
- 41:56good. What's coming up next week and
- 42:15who knows what the championship.
- 42:36Over the span of the year, not just this week, you can try.
- 42:39Yes, there we go. Any given weekend. and on this
- 42:45continent right on this continent Collegiate or Pro
- 42:51Collegiate or Pro, My middle school.
- 42:54Hey, you usatf. I don't know.
- 43:00I'm gonna jump out there and I'm going to give three and you can
- 43:04try to hold me to 1 at the end, but I'm gonna give him.
- 43:08I'm gonna give them at their levels.
- 43:11The the best non-championship meet in the country at the high
- 43:14school. Level is the Arcadia
- 43:16Invitational. Hmm it is.
- 43:19It has been it will remain that way.
- 43:22Yes, it was history. Look at the records.
- 43:25Look at how they bring in, athletes from out of state to
- 43:28challenge the best of California.
- 43:30It's at the perfect time of year, they do a brilliant job.
- 43:33It is always packed to the gills I wouldn't.
- 43:36And I would like to say the Arcadia, M on my bucket list.
- 43:39So haven't been there yet. So gotta go.
- 43:42Okay, so that's the high school bro, I think it's Prefontaine
- 43:48It, you know, I I wanted back in the day I probably would have
- 43:53said the old Mount Sac, you know, the Saturday Sunday Mount
- 43:56Sac. Yeah.
- 43:57But that don't exist no more. So at the pro I'm, you know, I'm
- 44:03gonna say, I'm gonna say Prefontaine But the Collegiate
- 44:09is a, is split between two Meats at the same place.
- 44:16It's either the Florida relays, if you like that particular
- 44:19flavor or the Tom Jones meet, if you like that particular flavor.
- 44:26But those are the two and we are, I am not saying that
- 44:29because her Lucius is sitting here.
- 44:32Again, look at the history. Look at the last 10 years alone.
- 44:38Like for me it's Florida just because of all the elements that
- 44:42Encompass the Florida relays, you know, there's the text
- 44:45relays the Penn relays Drake, Relays all good relay meets but
- 44:49Florida also gives you the element of running all the
- 44:51regular events and that's why I think it's the best Collegiate
- 44:54meat and I'm out. Lamar.
- 45:08High School me that I think is a no-brainer.
- 45:12I definitely do think it's Arcadia and and I think if you
- 45:15go to Arcadia, you probably wouldn't argue that anymore.
- 45:22I honestly am unimpressed with all pro means in the United
- 45:26States and that's not it. That's not even a shot at pre
- 45:29pre is awesome but it's It's pre like, like, like I mean, I hate
- 45:35to say it like, this, every meeting Oregon is the same.
- 45:40Like they're all like they're all run really?
- 45:42Well. They're all, they're always
- 45:43going to be stacked with with, with athletes.
- 45:46They all have a certain tenor. The crowd is always going to be
- 45:49the same. And so in Unfortunately they
- 45:51kind of compete against themselves and that regard.
- 45:55And it's not like like I guess I'm just saying like I'm not I
- 45:59could miss a Prefontaine me to not care because I know the next
- 46:02year it'll be good for the next meet at Oregon.
- 46:04Be good or whatever. Right.
- 46:06But but it's the Collegiate meets where it's at because the
- 46:11only chance where you where you get it, you got a chance to see
- 46:15Elite level Pros Elite level collegians, who will be pros and
- 46:22And sometimes they go head-to-head and I love Texas
- 46:28relays. My only issue is that I know
- 46:30half of what I'm going to see is going to be when they did not
- 46:33count true, though it's true. We could do but you know Texas.
- 46:47Relays used to be better than used to be in my brain.
- 46:50That was a long Time ago though. Yeah, and Florida, relays used
- 46:54to be way better than Tom Jones that was also a long time ago.
- 47:00At this point Solutions has clearly chosen violence or
- 47:04leases meet director has and they've invited ever like the
- 47:08NCAA? The NCAA finals.
- 47:10Split up into two Meats. So half comes one week and half
- 47:14comes the up. Comes two weeks later or
- 47:16whatever it is, but Yeah. I mean, I don't want to be a
- 47:20homer, but in the current landscape that were in in the
- 47:24current landscape that we're in from a non Championship, meet
- 47:28perspective, if you just look at quality of marks that come out
- 47:32of those two Meats, it mean, it almost certainly is going to be
- 47:34one of those too. So give me your three again
- 47:42Arcadia. Three.
- 47:45Yeah yeah. If I went strictly Pro, I said
- 47:48pre Arcadia Prix and the Collegiate.
- 47:51I'm I'm leaning because of History, Florida.
- 47:56Relays over time Jones but it is making enough noise to be right.
- 48:03Shut up, right means look I'll say this.
- 48:07If you just go over the last 10 years I think it's like one of
- 48:12those Florida meets Texas relays in the Other Florida meet like
- 48:15they, it's a nice sandwich. So I'm going to go in a
- 48:21different direction and it's really based on my experience.
- 48:26So I have yet to go to Arcadia, I've heard tons about it, I
- 48:31mean, obviously it is a staple and it is something that I need
- 48:36to get over to watch. Well, here's what I will say.
- 48:40The California state meet, yes happened to me on a ship.
- 48:52But finish your thought finish it out because you're right for
- 48:57sure. Look I got, I got a very steep
- 49:02education. The last time I went to the Cal
- 49:05State meet, and when I found out about the road to get there, and
- 49:11the fact that there is no one Amy to Amy 3, a 4, a 5 a, it is
- 49:17the best, the best in the state line up.
- 49:22It doesn't matter whether your school has 200 in your
- 49:25graduation class, or 2000. It does not matter.
- 49:30If you can get through that Gauntlet to get to the Kali
- 49:33state meet, I mean it. Yeah.
- 49:36So that I'm gonna move on from that so that's as far as high
- 49:43school meets. The best that I've seen with my
- 49:47eyes was Penn relays and just when you add it in the Jamaican
- 49:53influence and all of that, I mean it is just unreal when
- 49:57those when that gun goes off and you have those Should races
- 50:01unreal. So I'm just going to go off of
- 50:05that as far as Pro. When you have a, have a have a
- 50:13meet in the United States where these shoe company has you have
- 50:19no choice, you have to compete. It's one of the few times in the
- 50:25United States where you're going to get the best of the best
- 50:28lining up against each other, and it is theater every single
- 50:33time, like pre delivers whether it's a good or bad year, you are
- 50:38going to to wash. Stevie, you're going to watch
- 50:42that mean as far as a Collegiate, I mean, I have yet
- 50:50to experience the new and improved Tom Jones.
- 50:55Well Goodness Me Like It Is it is I would say it's probably in
- 51:04between the first round meat and the national meet in terms of
- 51:09the results that come out of that.
- 51:11And then you add in the pros. I mean, it's just insane when
- 51:17you, it's literally like you're literally doing on a Collegiate
- 51:21level. What pre does with the pros
- 51:24because the best of the best and now you have a situation where
- 51:29they want to be there. That adds a whole nother no
- 51:33one's no one's dodging, anybody and you're getting five six,
- 51:39seven of the top 10 teams in the country in one area in one
- 51:44venue. I mean please find me, find me
- 51:48some another meat in the United States where that actually
- 51:50happens. I'll wait.
- 51:56I mean like, I have not experienced Arcadia, and like I
- 52:00said, it's on my bucket list and I've experienced Penn relays and
- 52:07I think the files of the penguin is in the high school sections
- 52:10are phenomenal, but it's just not enough event for me, right?
- 52:16So but from experience standpoint, what I've actually
- 52:18seen and felt my own eyes and ears it spin because I've ever
- 52:21been Arcadia, but the results scream Arcadia.
- 52:24So I'm gonna gate right? Katie I think I mean from the
- 52:29professional side there's no comparison.
- 52:32It's Prefontaine because that's the only one real maybe other
- 52:34was only when we really have right.
- 52:39But it's not quite three, you know?
- 52:42Yeah. And so but I can it from the
- 52:45Collegiate standpoint. I mean there was a Tom obviously
- 52:47what it was pain relay is it was Texas related to know, Florida
- 52:51relays obviously made a great run at that it but Ovid really
- 52:57change the landscape here in Gainesville.
- 53:00So we don't have as many teams for Florida relays.
- 53:03And so now Tom Jones becomes this monster, right?
- 53:08So you have time still the Tom Jones meat is still three weeks
- 53:15away. So if you know tells and if you
- 53:18need airfare bus fare, you got time to get it together.
- 53:21Yeah, Florida, Florida State LSU.
- 53:26You Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, Tennessee,
- 53:32Alabama, Kentucky. Gay.
- 53:37Now we're also remember that the Empire Athletics group trains
- 53:43here in the State of Florida. That's Gary Evans is group.
- 53:46That has the alert will see if Olympic champ name in the former
- 53:48oh. Stephen Gardiner Jasmine.
- 53:51Camacho Quinn, you got Dennis Mitchell's Group which is Kenny
- 53:55the generic in the boys, you got Lance brahmins allows brothers
- 53:58and there's creating you got Raina and his crew over in
- 54:00Jacksonville they're all coming and we got an email today that
- 54:05the Morning brothers and their. So there was a French group
- 54:11there last year. Yeah, and I'm sure they'll be
- 54:14back as this year's myself. So I think that for me this year
- 54:21is going to be Tom Jones, right? And I feel bad because I like
- 54:30Tom Jones is going to be Yeah, it's not for the faint of heart.
- 54:34So let's put snow last year in the world Athletics.
- 54:39Rankings pre was number one, in u.s.
- 54:42Mount Sac. Was number two, Tom Jones was
- 54:44three Murphy classic was forth. That was the American American
- 54:56track week. Yes.
- 54:57Yeah. And Texas.
- 54:58Real axis relays was five in terms of shut up.
- 55:04Yeah. But I do want to throw this one.
- 55:06Small secret tidbit out to for the so you real track nuts.
- 55:12The best like the greatest compilation of high school
- 55:15talent that severoff ever at one.
- 55:18Track meet is not the California state, it is the southern sector
- 55:21signals, it's the precursor. It is the precursor to the
- 55:25state. Meet is to Southern section
- 55:27finals and there are more division, one track and field
- 55:32athletes in that track meet than any track meet in the entire
- 55:36country. And there's 45 to 50 percent of
- 55:39them. Don't even get to compete in the
- 55:41state. Yeah, yeah.
- 55:48Many a code say going to the state meet is nice but that's
- 55:51the meat you want to go to? Yeah, because if people that
- 55:54will do not get they will not get out of that meeting.
- 55:56Were going to be cleared all of your things, right?
- 55:58That's what I mean. So want to say 100 before I get
- 56:01myself in trouble - speaking of professional Group Training in
- 56:05Florida, there's a decent group here in games was good.
- 56:52Usatf might want to partner and get some money going.
- 56:56And I'm like, why am I, why am I?
- 56:59They are coming for free, while we paying them like this, they
- 57:02just show up and like this is a meat where you can see 98 and 19
- 57:12at 44 load just you just pick an event and it's going to be, you
- 57:16know, like last year the gosh Texas Tech my 143, right?
- 57:19Yeah. Just crazy.
- 57:21I expect this to meet overall this year to be the best time
- 57:24job we've ever had. And so how do you package that
- 57:29and show it to the masses? I mean that that it's too too
- 57:33big of a meet, you know, the payflow track, right?
- 57:37Yeah. That's what yeah.
- 57:39Mmm. Golly.
- 57:44Well, I mean there's a lot there's a lot in depends on what
- 57:48you're looking for, right? That's non-championship meet,
- 57:52are you looking for distance races?
- 57:54You know we've we've all spoken to the point of like you don't
- 57:58need a fast distance Race fast people run fast.
- 58:00Does it matter where they are? We've all said them but, you
- 58:04know, sometimes it's the background.
- 58:05Sometimes it's the build-up. Sometimes it is.
- 58:07The commentary that goes with it.
- 58:10Yeah, no. But if you're a dick, Since not
- 58:14take your butt to the oxy Invitational.
- 58:16Just one time. Wow.
- 58:20Take yourself to the oxidase said, Occidental College.
- 58:23Yeah. What schools oxy go watch the
- 58:28Occidental College. I think it's Invitational the
- 58:32oxygen for the just watch it one time and you end and you'll be
- 58:37like I'm coming here every year. Oh my goodness.
- 58:43That and there's like three hours of ten thousands at
- 58:45Stanford. Go towards while watches as a
- 58:50distance person roof. The Distance Carnival.
- 58:56Batman. I don't know if I would call it
- 58:58a carnival but I know it's called a Caro bulbs.
- 59:08We hosted the complementary meet.
- 59:10That sounds good state for that distance, carnival at San
- 59:12Francisco State. So, anyway, you you have not
- 59:15lived until you've watched the 10,000 and Brussels when they
- 59:20bring out the Africa and start drumming.
- 59:25For 25 laps, although that's the Stanford invite.
- 59:29No, yeah, right. On a smaller 425 lat.
- 59:32Right. It's the American version and
- 59:34that's what I think. They got it from the Stanford
- 59:38band is nutty in the most positive way.
- 59:44It's wild. Well, with that being said, I'm
- 59:51sure you all for watching and listening right now.
- 59:54Have your own Meats to make sure that we know about.
- 59:57So please feel free to put them in the comments.
- 59:59I'm sure somebody will get a text on their phone made show
- 1:00:02and been, like, y'all forgot this me wasn't here for it.
- 1:00:11And I mean, for all of you who host these meats, don't get it
- 1:00:15twisted. The better, the hospitality
- 1:00:17tent, Better than me is so I mean let's will not everybody
- 1:00:29has coached a high school near he's on the tire.
- 1:00:33Like I guess recently needs better said, but these new high
- 1:00:37school meets are having meal tickets and you get to go to the
- 1:00:41concession stand. Have like a full-on meal.
- 1:00:44Hey, that's the other thing. Meet food at Arcadia, Is Elite
- 1:00:50factual mean, it's the last year.
- 1:00:52Last year there was something. We are eating and exercising.
- 1:00:55All kind of things. I had a burrito Mexican.
- 1:00:57Yeah burger I had a few things. Hmm it was the Mexican I do
- 1:01:03remember I was on the backside know there's an area.
- 1:01:05Mmm so anyways Sheesh, sheesh. Yeah, arcade.
- 1:01:13He's a cheat code for high school meets because if you are
- 1:01:16a frequent or of Arcadia then, you know, you can go and pre
- 1:01:20recruit and go watch the frost off me.
- 1:01:24Yeah. And you'll see, you'll see
- 1:01:27you're not doing recruiting Missouri.
- 1:01:56Like I can talk to him. I'm no, but you didn't see that
- 1:02:01part. It said pre use it pre
- 1:02:04recruiting. Use the word that's recruiting.
- 1:02:10Look right buddy. All right.
- 1:02:19So, would you rather? Would you rather would you
- 1:02:21rather mr. Huffington, you are on with
- 1:02:25others. All right, I actually am
- 1:02:27surprised for once. I guess you're excited the
- 1:02:31cycle. See, I'm exciting you.
- 1:02:36Yeah, so much. So are you ready?
- 1:02:42I am. Would you rather be on the track
- 1:02:46or in the bleachers at Tom Jones this year?
- 1:02:55On the track as he's got. The back stretch so I can watch
- 1:03:26the warm-up Shenanigans as well as the meat.
- 1:03:31All right, so speaking of meat snacks, would you rather eat
- 1:03:35peanut butter and crackers or apples with peanut butter?
- 1:03:45Probably apples. And peanut butter.
- 1:03:47That is an elite snack. Yes, out the jar.
- 1:03:52It is is an elite snack. Alright, would you rather?
- 1:04:01Tie your shoes or it's just slip on your shoes.
- 1:04:08Okay, so I don't ever tie my shoes but I wear.
- 1:04:12I wear tied shoes. Just not tied.
- 1:04:17I don't do slip on shoes but I don't, I my shoes.
- 1:04:22Well says, I don't wear something.
- 1:04:26I don't wear slip on shoes at all.
- 1:04:27I wear laced-up shoes. They just aren't tied.
- 1:04:30Hmm. Okay, anybody else on the show
- 1:04:36for you? You ask him that question.
- 1:04:38So it's there if you know, then you know, if you were and you
- 1:04:43understand. I understand, I understand, I
- 1:04:45understand, I understand as well, but big-league you have to
- 1:04:49eat Anybody wearing a slip ons, exactly.
- 1:04:56Oh my gosh. Y'all are going to break your
- 1:04:58ankles and have been effectually if I tie my shoes.
- 1:05:20It's because I'm about to get into some activities.
- 1:05:23I might be I'm about to hoop. I'm about to go check Chase
- 1:05:26somebody down. I'm about to do some mock if I'm
- 1:05:29not about to do something. I'm just chilling.
- 1:05:31I will not be tying my shoes. Oh my gosh.
- 1:05:36Would you rather? Play Pickleball or go ax
- 1:05:41throwing. Oh definitely.
- 1:05:45I will play Pickleball in a heartbeat.
- 1:05:49I'm a lot of fun. Listen, I all I can think about
- 1:05:53what axe throwing is how it can go wrong.
- 1:06:02It's fun, but all I can think about is how that can go wrong.
- 1:06:08Excuse me. Would you rather?
- 1:06:12Oh, I can't do it. No, I can't do it.
- 1:06:14I'm leaving that one alone. Scared!
- 1:06:38Oh my God. Moving on.
- 1:06:40The floor is yours. Would you rather?
- 1:07:40Be the meet director of Florida relays or be the meet director
- 1:07:48of the new rules Mount Sac. I would much rather and I mean,
- 1:07:58I'll send him my resume. If this job is actually
- 1:08:00available, I would much rather be the meet director of Florida,
- 1:08:05relays /. Tom Jones, I would want nothing
- 1:08:10to do with the new and improved Mount Sac.
- 1:08:19I feel like that's that's six months of angry phone, calls and
- 1:08:22emails. All right.
- 1:08:30All experience all-expense-paid week.
- 1:08:32Trip to Berlin. For the World Championships or
- 1:08:40all-expense-paid trip to Zurich for the world championships one
- 1:08:49week. Tours are going to have a world
- 1:08:54Diamond World Championships at Zurich or World Championships in
- 1:08:59Berlin. Sir, sitting choice is what it
- 1:09:02is. If they have a world
- 1:09:04championship that Zurich, it will break the internet.
- 1:09:08It'll break the Earth. They will be meet record set
- 1:09:13that can't ever be approached. I will take Zurich over just
- 1:09:18about anyplace. Lamar does not not leave the
- 1:09:21question there. Why have we not seen this?
- 1:09:25Because I, like I said, I think it because it will.
- 1:09:27First of all, if you had a world championship in Zurich,
- 1:09:31Switzerland, there's a lot of countries that couldn't afford
- 1:09:33to go, right? So let's just start with that,
- 1:09:39but if you just look, if you look at the meat records eval
- 1:09:45colossae, hmm, you would think that there have been several
- 1:09:49Olympics and World Championships that have been Held at that
- 1:09:51particular venue you. So yeah you talk about bucket
- 1:09:57list that should be on everybody who loves track and Field's
- 1:10:00bucket list is to attend V class up at least once in your life.
- 1:10:08All right, well, I'm closing out the show with heartbeat props.
- 1:10:16Man, try to redeem myself from that.
- 1:10:21Very not. Great question.
- 1:10:26Can't give us as the kids would say, that would you rather was
- 1:10:31hella mid? I had to give it a go.
- 1:10:45Here might be props to my wife prior to her.
- 1:11:05Stress levels are through the roof. and, You know, it look at
- 1:11:13the end of the day, we may want to make sure that our track
- 1:11:17meets our good experience. Lot of course everybody here on
- 1:11:22this panel, knows about the amount of planning that goes
- 1:11:25into it with the weather and everything, the logistics,
- 1:11:30everything, this this weekend was very very stressful and to
- 1:11:35come out of that meat and to have every single team.
- 1:11:38Tell us that we put on a good meat.
- 1:11:41They enjoy the experience. Despite sub 50 degree, weather
- 1:11:46Kudos, kudos to my wife, getting, you know, lighting a
- 1:11:51fire under our kids to come out and volunteer.
- 1:11:56Yeah, it was, it was, I'm glad it's over.
- 1:12:01But yeah, the orchestrator, the facilitator that's that's that's
- 1:12:08my wife. Well, well said sir, I'm gonna
- 1:12:13go next and stay in that in that same theme.
- 1:12:15Um so my better half a came home with the baby this past weekend
- 1:12:22for spring break and tomorrow they are on their way to
- 1:12:26Knoxville Tennessee for her to participate.
- 1:12:29In the first of two Hall of Fame ceremonies Tiana's being
- 1:12:35inducted into the University of Tennessee athletics Hall of Fame
- 1:12:39rightfully Both time who, right? But she's also later in the year
- 1:12:43going to be inducted into the state of Tennessee's Athletics
- 1:12:47Hall of Fame, which is dope. So she came home for spring
- 1:12:51break and you know what you want?
- 1:12:53What do all students want to do on spring break?
- 1:12:55They want to do as little as possible.
- 1:12:58So I brought the baby boy to work with me and as much as I
- 1:13:04thoroughly enjoyed that day. When I tell you, I got nothing
- 1:13:07accomplished. I think I got absolutely nothing
- 1:13:11accomplished so I have no idea how that woman wrote a 35-page.
- 1:13:16Paper with that dude attached, whatever he want to be attached
- 1:13:21to. I am in awe of her focus and her
- 1:13:26ability to just do what she does on a daily basis.
- 1:13:30So Props to my better half, Miss Dianna Madison, congrats you
- 1:13:37deserve it all kid and you are a better human.
- 1:13:40I will ever be that dude ran this office.
- 1:13:45I couldn't get an email off with that boy around.
- 1:13:51Oh, I love it. I love it.
- 1:13:54That is truly funny. I'm just going to give a
- 1:13:58heartbeat props to all of the NCAA track coaches.
- 1:14:05You know, I don't think we realize how Masochistic wheel
- 1:14:11like we just never stopped. Yeah.
- 1:14:14And we'll climb but I realized that we had people that were in
- 1:14:19Albuquerque at the national championships in a very
- 1:14:23stressful situation in a week later, they're freezing and 50
- 1:14:26degree or lower, weathers critical track meet, that's
- 1:14:28insane Atif. So my heart beat drops go to all
- 1:14:33of us because we're all crazy. Oh man.
- 1:14:50You know, a couple of my clients have made it tough for me to
- 1:14:53pick one this week, but I'm actually going to pick my
- 1:15:01shortest client. One of one of my guys is still a
- 1:15:06Collegian, so I can't say his name.
- 1:15:10I miss his, I'm his advisor. So we're clear my butt.
- 1:15:17He has managed to take this opportunity to show The Scouting
- 1:15:22world that although he is small and he is really fast, he has
- 1:15:26juice as he puts it. And he is now hit five home runs
- 1:15:31in this short season and I don't think he had five in four years
- 1:15:35prior to this. He appears to be on a mission
- 1:15:40and I had to call his dad and ask him.
- 1:15:43Has he been lifting somewhere that we don't know about?
- 1:15:46Out and I, I would like to give my property this young, man.
- 1:15:52I can't say his name calling him.
- 1:15:54Will he hit me Turner and it's he's been a lot of fun to watch
- 1:15:59this year. And baseball is heating up.
- 1:16:06I'm getting pulled in multiple directions and I love it.
- 1:16:09This is the chaos that I have chosen for my wonderful life.
- 1:16:13You know, spring training in Florida right now.
- 1:16:15Chew Yes, welcome. Let's go get them.
- 1:16:24My heartbeat props. Go to my brother and those of
- 1:16:28you individuals who happen to be parents who think they can coach
- 1:16:31their kids, good luck. Not it's not easy.
- 1:16:37And my heart goes out to all of you who then realize what
- 1:16:41coaching actually is and how just talking demanding and
- 1:16:45yelling at Children to do something doesn't work.
- 1:16:50I I hope and pray for your patience and I hope and pray for
- 1:16:53you to realize that quote unquote.
- 1:16:56I don't want to say, quote unquote allowing for those
- 1:16:59individuals who can coach or are willing to coach to do, what
- 1:17:03they're choosing to do. Yeah, he called me.
- 1:17:07Like why can't I just yell at them?
- 1:17:12The better part was the better part was because what is
- 1:17:15positive? Of reinforcement.
- 1:17:17And why am I being told to do it?
- 1:17:21I said so CPS doesn't come to your door.
- 1:17:23How about that? Yeah.
- 1:17:31Completely an educational moment he is like no children.
- 1:17:51Someone who can interact with your child, can actually do it
- 1:17:54and bring them out of their shelves to perform.
- 1:17:59It's a big thing. So Harvey props to all the
- 1:18:01parents and individuals who then realize what that driver Lee
- 1:18:05means. So try not to be backhanded but
- 1:18:09it was backhanded. So with that.
- 1:18:16That episode was a very ping pong episode that we just
- 1:18:20completed. So thank you for bearing with us
- 1:18:24who he shot off. A lot of you guys.
- 1:18:25So Have a great weekend, enjoy the spring season.
- 1:18:31Now, that is officially here and hopefully California has been a
- 1:18:35little bit drier in a little bit.
- 1:18:37Warmer you'll be on your way to, I know, right?
- 1:18:43Well, everyone have a great week and we'll see you again soon.
- 1:18:46Bye. Wouldn't be here but we're here
- 1:19:20to stop raining. You gotta earn your stripes?
- 1:19:22Gotta keep Stars. Show you how to fight for.
- 1:19:25Sure. So you are you lack experience
- 1:19:27but still you want to jump and who is that junk to your certain
- 1:19:31kind of small heads prevail when the backbone strong, gotta keep
- 1:19:35it coming up, won't last long faster failed and sell this a
- 1:19:39song and if you don't check yourself and that's wrong, just
- 1:19:43trying to give you the rich asshole.
- 1:19:45So why you keep cutting us off to a small?
- 1:19:48We put it. It in slow-mo.
- 1:19:49What you fast-forward. Athletics task force.
- 1:19:48It in slow-mo. What you fast-forward.
- 1:19:51Athletics task force.
