- 0:01Speaker 1: A little history for you today as we roll into
- 0:04Speaker 1: a football weekend, week three of college football.
- 0:06Speaker 2: We'll talk about what we saw last night, but we're
- 0:08Speaker 2: on the road.
- 0:09Speaker 1: 1976, it was 200 years of America when Gillette's opened,
- 0:15Speaker 1: the bicentennial. Now this year we celebrated 250 years, which means.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Kids, as you do the math, 250 minus 200 equals?
- 0:25Speaker 2: That would be 50. 50-year anniversary of Gillette's, and we're
- 0:27Speaker 2: on the road to kick off their 50th football season here.
- 0:30Speaker 2: How about that? Raise the Gillette's glass, everybody. You don't
- 0:33Speaker 2: have one yet? I don't have one, but I'll have
- 0:35Speaker 2: one shortly. Okay, they're going to open at 11 o'clock.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I told you guys, you see the Yellowhammer machines. I do,
- 0:41Speaker 2: I do. Yeah, so obviously the home of the Yellowhammer
- 0:44Speaker 2: for 50 years here. Great place to pre- and post-game.
- 0:48Speaker 2: A place that we all went when I was in
- 0:50Speaker 2: college years and years ago. And to think, I thought
- 0:53Speaker 2: Gillette's was old when I was here. I really did.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Now you're the old one. Yeah, I was like, that's
- 0:58Speaker 2: one of the landmark bars of all of Tuscaloosa. And
- 1:01Speaker 2: it's been here forever. I've heard so many great stories.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I've seen so many stories in person here. And it's
- 1:07Speaker 2: just a tradition. Unlike any other, stop by and see
- 1:10Speaker 2: us today. And then, of course, before and after Florida
- 1:13Speaker 2: State tomorrow. Now, think about this.
- 1:15Speaker 1: In 1976 at Gillette's, I believe the legal drinking age
- 1:19Speaker 1: in Alabama was 18 years old.
- 1:22Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:22Speaker 1: So if you were a freshman or a sophomore and
- 1:25Speaker 1: you were in Gillette's drinking in 1976, there's a good
- 1:29Speaker 1: chance all those first Yellowhammer drinkers are all grandparents now.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Some of them might be great-grandparents. Some of them might
- 1:37Speaker 2: be great-grandparents. Some of them might have been parents nine
- 1:41Speaker 2: months after that first yellow hammer. I mean, I don't
- 1:43Speaker 2: want to get into all the scenarios. I'm just saying.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Let's just say the average drinker in here in 1976
- 1:48Speaker 2: was 20 years old. Okay. So that would put them
- 1:51Speaker 2: at 70 years old right now. That's right. Yeah. That's right.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Fourth quarter. Fourth quarter. Oh, yeah. For the original yellow
- 1:58Speaker 2: hammer game, raise up to four. One fourth quarter. This
- 2:01Speaker 2: one time is really easy. I watched another one of
- 2:02Speaker 2: these documentaries on AI and the apocalypse last night. Right. Boy,
- 2:06Speaker 2: it's a new one on Netflix. It just dropped this week.
- 2:09Speaker 2: AI and the apocalypse. Well, no, I just add like AI.
- 2:13Speaker 2: It's just so funny because there's so many guys that
- 2:16Speaker 2: are like, it's doomsday. Like in the next 10 years,
- 2:19Speaker 2: we're like seriously civilization as you know what is going on.
- 2:22Speaker 2: And then the ones always have skin in the game
- 2:25Speaker 2: that are like, hey, this AI is going to be
- 2:27Speaker 2: incredible for our society. I did get scared until Meta
- 2:30Speaker 2: started running TV commercials, basically propaganda that, hey, we're all
- 2:34Speaker 2: about the people. Yeah. It's all about people. We're in
- 2:36Speaker 2: the people business. Literally.
- 2:38Speaker 1: And it was running during college football last weekend. And
- 2:39Speaker 1: that's when I was like, oh, yeah, now I'm now
- 2:42Speaker 1: I'm scared.
- 2:43Speaker 2: The only guys on the documentary that were positive were
- 2:47Speaker 2: apparently there's there's five people, including Elon Musk is one
- 2:50Speaker 2: of these with what does he have? X.A.I. There's five
- 2:53Speaker 2: different AIs out there that are fighting to get to
- 2:56Speaker 2: the top right now. And those are the five that
- 2:57Speaker 2: are all like, this is great. It's good for everybody.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I don't know if you can bet on it yet
- 3:02Speaker 2: at Hard Rock Bets, but someday we may be able
- 3:04Speaker 2: to bet on who's the one AI is going to survive.
- 3:07Speaker 2: We may be able to bet on that someday at
- 3:09Speaker 2: Hard Rock Bets. Hard rock dot bet backslash clay. Hard
- 3:15Speaker 2: rock dot bet backslash clay. I got something new with
- 3:17Speaker 2: hard rock bets today. By the way, I had the
- 3:19Speaker 2: wrong side last night. I had the Lions plus five
- 3:22Speaker 2: and a half. I had hard rock bet. I own it. Well,
- 3:25Speaker 2: we're only talking winners here. Here's something to get back
- 3:27Speaker 2: in the game. Hard rock dot bet backslash clay. New
- 3:32Speaker 2: on Fridays.
- 3:33Speaker 1: They have a happy hour on Fridays from four to six.
- 3:37Speaker 1: You log in during happy hour windows and you get
- 3:40Speaker 1: your no sweat bonus bet. Use any available NCAA football
- 3:46Speaker 1: markets by end of the day on that day. So
- 3:49Speaker 1: 4 to 6 on Friday, you can get a no-sweat
- 3:53Speaker 1: bonus bet of college football if you're on 4 to 6.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Go online in your state, hardrock.bet backslash clay, and get
- 4:01Speaker 1: all the details about that. But 4 to 6 on
- 4:03Speaker 1: Friday is a sweet time to be on there. Where
- 4:06Speaker 1: can you play Hard Rock Bet? Well, Obviously, the state
- 4:09Speaker 1: of Florida, it's Florida's only legal sportsbook, making it the
- 4:12Speaker 1: most trustworthy option in the market, but not just Florida. Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
- 4:17Speaker 1: New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia, man. We've been everywhere
- 4:21Speaker 1: with HardRock.bet backslash play.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Football's back. They got new features, app updates, and you
- 4:27Speaker 2: get all the details.
- 4:27Speaker 1: HardRock.bet backslash play. Let's talk about what we saw last night.
- 4:32Speaker 1: We'll go NFL first. Dominating performance.
- 4:36Speaker 2: By Buffalo.
- 4:37Speaker 1: 41-31 didn't seem that close. Here's the alarming thing. If
- 4:41Speaker 1: you're a Lions fan, I picked them to win the division.
- 4:44Speaker 1: So I'm scared about this. In the last six quarters,
- 4:47Speaker 1: their defense has allowed 71 points in six quarters of football.
- 4:51Speaker 1: That'll concern anybody.
- 4:53Speaker 2: It will. And I think most people were concerned on
- 4:55Speaker 2: the backside. Aiden Hutchinson's already got three sacks on the season.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I think they're fine up front. And look, I don't
- 5:01Speaker 2: think you can Look at what Buffalo does offensively and
- 5:05Speaker 2: panic about that. I go back last week with Houston, Texas.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I mean, Buffalo shredded that defense, and arguably that's the
- 5:12Speaker 2: best defense in the NFL. But Detroit, the concern is
- 5:15Speaker 2: at home last week having a 21-point lead, blowing that
- 5:19Speaker 2: to a second-year quarterback in Tyler Shuck. Not a huge
- 5:22Speaker 2: expectation for that Saints team offensively. I'm going to say this.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I think Josh Allen is the ultimate cheat code in football.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I think he is the best player on the planet.
- 5:33Speaker 1: At Hard Rock.Bets last night, his MVP odds got cut
- 5:37Speaker 1: in half.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I don't know how he doesn't have a Super Bowl.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It is amazing how he drops everybody else up. Because
- 5:43Speaker 2: I'll say this. They're probably a 7-10 team without him.
- 5:49Speaker 2: With him, you know, 12-13 wins. I mean, he is
- 5:51Speaker 2: just absolutely– he makes it look so easy. Aiden Hutchinson
- 5:55Speaker 2: was blanketing him last night. Should have been a sack.
- 5:58Speaker 2: And he just flips the ball out of bounds. Just
- 6:00Speaker 2: throws it away. It's so annoying.
- 6:02Speaker 1: I mean, try playing that twice a year. I mean,
- 6:03Speaker 1: try having it in your division. Like, a good friend
- 6:05Speaker 1: of mine texted me and said, I can't imagine having
- 6:07Speaker 1: this team in my division. And I'm like, you're right.
- 6:10Speaker 2: It's terrible. I mean, it's a– they're just so good.
- 6:14Speaker 2: They are so good. They're so annoying. He's 30 years old.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Josh Allen has got four-plus touchdowns, passing four-plus touchdowns, rushing
- 6:23Speaker 1: through two games. The first person in NFL history to
- 6:27Speaker 1: ever do that.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, nine total touchdowns in two games against two really
- 6:30Speaker 2: good teams. Teams favored to win their divisions. The Texans,
- 6:34Speaker 2: the Lions last night. I just, I mean, are you
- 6:38Speaker 2: guys not shocked this guy doesn't have a Super Bowl?
- 6:40Speaker 1: I am, except that it's the Bills. I mean, I
- 6:43Speaker 1: think if he played for any other franchise, he'd have
- 6:45Speaker 1: a Super Bowl probably. I mean, the Bills are just
- 6:47Speaker 1: one of those franchises that have found every way possible.
- 6:50Speaker 2: To avoid winning a Super Bowl.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And now, I mean, this iteration of the Bills, they're
- 6:54Speaker 1: finding every way possible not to make a Super Bowl.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I mean, when we were growing up, They just found
- 6:58Speaker 1: ways not to win it when they got there.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm afraid once he gets there, he's going to
- 7:02Speaker 2: be too good to deny.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Or he's going to get there and it's going to
- 7:06Speaker 1: feel like the feel-good story finally made it and all that, and.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It's going to be a complete disaster. It'll be the
- 7:11Speaker 2: worst game he's ever played. AFC is going to be
- 7:12Speaker 2: so fun to watch because it looks like Baltimore's back.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I don't know about Borough and Cincinnati. It looks like
- 7:17Speaker 2: Kansas City could be back. There's a lot of great
- 7:20Speaker 2: storylines in the AFC, but again– Your favorite's got to
- 7:23Speaker 2: be Buffalo, the way this guy's playing. I mean, you
- 7:26Speaker 2: lose receiver number one, D.J. Moore, to the A.C. joint.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Doesn't matter. He had zero catches last night, and they
- 7:32Speaker 2: still score 41 points. That's how good this team is.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Ed Oliver didn't play defensively. Didn't matter. He just makes
- 7:39Speaker 2: up for any kind of shortcomings they have, and for
- 7:42Speaker 2: them to go 41 last night. I mean, that's all
- 7:44Speaker 2: you think you would need with Detroit is 31 points, right?
- 7:47Speaker 2: You'd lose by double digits. You're thinking, I mean, Detroit's
- 7:49Speaker 2: hugely concerning. And I know you had them in your
- 7:51Speaker 2: Super Bowl. And I got that right, right? You had
- 7:54Speaker 2: Detroit in your Super Bowl? Yeah. Was it against the Bills?
- 7:57Speaker 2: It was against the Chargers who were 0-1. How about that?
- 8:00Speaker 2: Right now, that Super Bowl pick is on shaky territory.
- 8:04Speaker 2: That's okay. You limit those two. There's only 30 teams
- 8:06Speaker 2: left that can get there. Hopefully, the Rams will find
- 8:08Speaker 2: their way through. Move on. I don't know if you're
- 8:10Speaker 2: ready to move on from this. I had one more.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Josh Allen. I got a Jared Goff thing at the end. Yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 2: and I've got a Dan Campbell thing. Okay.
- 8:17Speaker 1: I'll go first, and we'll go down the line. Hard
- 8:19Speaker 1: Rock Bets. Go enjoy it in your state. See if
- 8:21Speaker 1: you're available.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Hard Rock.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Josh Allen, 30 years old. He's got 83 rushing touchdowns already.
- 8:29Speaker 1: He's 20th all time at rushing touchdowns.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Josh Allen.
- 8:33Speaker 1: When it's said and done, just having normal years, doing
- 8:36Speaker 1: nothing extraordinary, will project out to be fifth all-time in
- 8:40Speaker 1: rushing touchdowns, passing Adrian Peterson all-time. That's what doing nothing,
- 8:44Speaker 1: just doing what he's been doing.
- 8:46Speaker 2: But again, when I call him the ultimate cheat code,
- 8:47Speaker 2: when you watch him, if you can't keep him in
- 8:50Speaker 2: the pocket, you can't collapse that pocket, once he gets outside,
- 8:53Speaker 2: for his size, his speed, the athleticism, he can do
- 8:58Speaker 2: absolutely everything. Again, he is the ultimate cheat code right
- 9:01Speaker 2: now in football. I don't even think they need a defense.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I think they can just outscore anybody they play. By
- 9:07Speaker 2: the way, that stadium last night, Highmark, I give it
- 9:10Speaker 2: a Highmark. That was a great atmosphere. I enjoyed the
- 9:12Speaker 2: heck out of that. It was a great atmosphere.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I did see the local TV people roaming through the stands,
- 9:17Speaker 1: finding people that had the obstructed view and interviewing them.
- 9:20Speaker 1: There were a lot of them. And some of them
- 9:22Speaker 1: were like, this is not my season ticket. When I
- 9:24Speaker 1: bought it, I knew it had a bad view, but
- 9:25Speaker 1: it's worse than I thought. And some of them were like,
- 9:27Speaker 1: this is my season ticket. I'm going to deal with
- 9:28Speaker 1: this all year. And it's the staircase that comes up
- 9:31Speaker 1: at the glass that's in front of it. And then
- 9:34Speaker 1: people are coming up the stairs. And one guy was like,
- 9:37Speaker 1: all these people come up the stairs. They don't know
- 9:38Speaker 1: what section there is. So they stop and stand in
- 9:40Speaker 1: front of me while the play's going on.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I mean, look, I get it. Does he stand up
- 9:44Speaker 2: at that point? Can you see when he stands up?
- 9:45Speaker 2: He didn't say.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I just know as a guy who hated to watch
- 9:48Speaker 1: the Bills games in that old stadium, I just never
- 9:51Speaker 1: liked it.
- 9:52Speaker 2: It was an enjoyable watch last night.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Even though I texted Brown first five or seven minutes
- 9:57Speaker 1: of the game, It wasn't digitized. my uh streaming feed
- 10:01Speaker 1: but it was you could tell it wasn't crisp and
- 10:04Speaker 1: i just assumed because so many many people millions of
- 10:07Speaker 1: people were watching it it was taking um amazon a
- 10:10Speaker 1: while to get it all dialed in but as soon
- 10:12Speaker 1: as i texted brown it spot on i was gonna
- 10:15Speaker 1: reply to you and say there's only one problem with my.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Feed Buffalo's up 21-0. Yeah. My take was the way
- 10:21Speaker 2: you go. Jared Goff.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Jared Goff passed 40,000 passing yards last night. When he
- 10:25Speaker 1: did that, did they show the graphic of how quick
- 10:27Speaker 1: he's done this? Did y'all see that last night? I
- 10:29Speaker 1: did not see that.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Has he done it quick? He has. He has done
- 10:32Speaker 2: it quick. I mean, he's 10 years in the league now.
- 10:34Speaker 2: He's the fourth quickest in NFL history. How about that?
- 10:37Speaker 2: All right.
- 10:38Speaker 1: He just passed 40,000 career receiving yards.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Passing yards. Passing yards. Excuse me. That would be something.
- 10:44Speaker 2: That would be a record. Yes.
- 10:46Speaker 1: In 153 games, the fastest to 40,000, you would.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Know this well, is... The fastest to 40,000? There's a
- 10:55Speaker 2: reason I'm saying you would know this well. No. No.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Phillip Rivers. Don't overthink this, man. Matthew Stafford. Yeah, Matthew Stafford.
- 11:02Speaker 2: That's the fastest. For whom golf is traded, right?
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's the funny thing. McVay was like, I'm
- 11:08Speaker 2: done with this golf thing. It's not working. We've got
- 11:11Speaker 2: to get somebody in there.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Matt Ryan is second in 151 games. That doesn't surprise anybody, right,
- 11:15Speaker 1: Matt Ryan?
- 11:16Speaker 2: No. Dan Marino. Drew Brees is third in 152 games.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And tied with Jared Goff at fourth is Dan Marino
- 11:26Speaker 2: and one other quarterback. And it will blow your mind.
- 11:29Speaker 2: But Dan Marino... Was the gold standard for me. He was.
- 11:32Speaker 2: If you just said he was number one, I would
- 11:33Speaker 2: have been like. I would not have doubted. I'll go
- 11:35Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers. It's not Aaron Rodgers. Okay, so. Lance is out.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So this is tied with Dan Marino, fourth fastest to
- 11:43Speaker 1: 40,000 yards. It is now Jared Goff, Dan Marino, and
- 11:46Speaker 1: this NFL quarterback.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Still active? Still active. Oh, then I know. Who? Kirk Cousins.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Kirk freaking Cousins. Wow. Wow. How has Kirk Cousins had
- 11:56Speaker 2: this career? I mean, look at his bank account.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I know, but it's nuts that he would be in
- 12:01Speaker 1: that category. I just read off. And it's not longevity.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It's the fastest in number of games played. Yeah, the
- 12:07Speaker 1: quickest to 40,000. That is mind-boggling. I just read off
- 12:10Speaker 1: names like Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Dan Marino, Matt Stafford,
- 12:14Speaker 1: and Kirk Cousins is that category?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Mind-boggling. It is. Yeah. Okay, you had one. I was
- 12:19Speaker 2: just going to say, like, you know, I've never been
- 12:21Speaker 2: a Danny Campbell fan at all. If I'm a Detroit fan,
- 12:24Speaker 2: I'm really concerned because arguably you have the best collection
- 12:29Speaker 2: of offensive weapons with Laporte at tight end and Jamison
- 12:33Speaker 2: Williams and Amon Ross ain't brown. And obviously Gibbs may
- 12:37Speaker 2: be the best offensive weapon in the NFL right now.
- 12:41Speaker 2: You've got one of the best left tackles in B'nai Sewell.
- 12:43Speaker 2: You've got a quarterback that's hit 40,000 yards in Jared Goff.
- 12:47Speaker 2: And it looks like there's a good chance you're going
- 12:49Speaker 2: to be outscored the majority of the games you play,
- 12:51Speaker 2: giving up over 200 yards rushing. And by the way,
- 12:53Speaker 2: so undisciplined. Ten penalties last night. And some of the
- 12:56Speaker 2: key moments of those penalties, an interception that instead of
- 13:00Speaker 2: 14-0 with Detroit having the ball, it goes 21-0 Buffalo.
- 13:04Speaker 2: When you're down 21-0 and Highmark gets Josh Allen, you
- 13:07Speaker 2: have no shot. I give him credit for at least
- 13:09Speaker 2: battling back and making it a simple experience. Is Campbell
- 13:12Speaker 2: a defensive-minded coach or an offensive-minded coach? Offense. That's the offense, yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 2: It looked like it. It's looked like it so far
- 13:19Speaker 2: in the last six quarters. It's looked a lot like it.
- 13:22Speaker 1: All right, we'll get into college football in a second,
- 13:24Speaker 1: but if you're watching us at the Aliceville Correction Facility,
- 13:28Speaker 1: it'll cost you $ 5 for me to remove that right.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Here all day long. It should be really interesting. You're
- 13:35Speaker 2: dead center. And we always leave a seat for you
- 13:38Speaker 2: guys on the right side of LT over there. We
- 13:41Speaker 2: leave one out for the fans to come sit over there.
- 13:44Speaker 2: We love road shows. Am I showing too much leg?
- 13:46Speaker 2: Is that what you're telling me? I'm showing too much leg?
- 13:47Speaker 2: It's summer, man. Well, actually, it's not summer anymore. We're
- 13:49Speaker 2: past summer. Yeah, it's summer in the South. By the way,
- 13:53Speaker 2: one college coach telling the Athletic, a Southern college coach, anonymous.
- 13:59Speaker 2: I love anonymous coaches.
- 14:01Speaker 1: By the way, we're going to move week one to
- 14:03Speaker 1: week zero next year here in the South.
- 14:05Speaker 2: They need to rethink when we schedule the epic games.
- 14:08Speaker 2: He didn't say epic. He said the word.
- 14:11Speaker 1: In our two games, we've lost three referees. Forget the players.
- 14:15Speaker 1: We've lost three referees.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Wait, who is this saying this? Anonymous coach in the South.
- 14:19Speaker 2: He's like, we've got to play night games in the
- 14:21Speaker 2: South if we're going to move that up deeper into August.
- 14:24Speaker 1: So, I mean, now it was a pulled hamstring, but
- 14:27Speaker 1: was it the LSU Ole Miss game, or excuse me,
- 14:29Speaker 1: the Louisville Ole Miss game, where we lost the ref
- 14:32Speaker 1: to a pulled hamstring?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah. So they had to go down.
- 14:35Speaker 1: That was pulled hamstring, but you wonder how much of
- 14:36Speaker 1: that had to do with hydration and stuff like that.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I don't know if those things can connect. Seems like
- 14:41Speaker 1: a Pete Golding comment.
- 14:43Speaker 2: But, you know, why not play these games at night
- 14:47Speaker 2: and then on the East Coast and up in the
- 14:50Speaker 2: Midwest and everything, you know, get your day games out
- 14:52Speaker 2: of the way. You need to ask ESPN. They're paying
- 14:54Speaker 2: all the money. They don't have any Northern or West Coast,
- 14:58Speaker 2: high West Coast, Pacific Northwest SEC teams to broadcast.
- 15:02Speaker 1: SEC's going to have to expand a little bit.
- 15:04Speaker 2: By the way, the forecast here today, 99. Feels like 109.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Forecast tomorrow, 99. Feels like 109, 230 kick, Bryant-Denny Stadium,
- 15:15Speaker 2: about 400 yards behind this wall where we'll be. So
- 15:19Speaker 2: it'll be hot, hot, hot.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'm in a hoodie because the great folks here at
- 15:23Speaker 1: Gillette's keeping those Jell-O hammers at a nice drinkable temperature
- 15:27Speaker 1: throughout the day. College football last night, I couldn't get
- 15:30Speaker 1: my upset alert home for a cover. 27-13, Pittsburgh wins it.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Steve Vangeli's got a problem. Three interceptions the last game
- 15:39Speaker 1: and the loss to Cal. Two interceptions last night. I
- 15:43Speaker 1: don't know how good Pitt is. And I don't think
- 15:45Speaker 1: Syracuse is as bad as they look. That missed field
- 15:47Speaker 1: goal hurt them. Those interceptions hurt them. Those were makeable
- 15:51Speaker 1: field goals. Syracuse was the play for me last night
- 15:54Speaker 1: on the cover.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I was disappointed. that they lost by 14. Yeah, I
- 15:57Speaker 2: thought Mason Eichel didn't look his best. I do think
- 16:01Speaker 2: that this Pitt team's pretty good when it all comes together. And, Jelly,
- 16:04Speaker 2: that's the problem. We talked about it yesterday. Like, if
- 16:06Speaker 2: he plays clean football, you're going to get a cover.
- 16:08Speaker 2: It's going to be a competitive game. But you go
- 16:11Speaker 2: back to last year, he threw three picks in this
- 16:13Speaker 2: same game. And does he have six picks already this year?
- 16:16Speaker 2: He does. Yeah, it's five in the last two games. Yeah.
- 16:19Speaker 2: That's a problem. It's a big problem for Fran Brown.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You know, you go back last year before Angeli gets hurt,
- 16:25Speaker 2: Syracuse was pretty good. And then he gets hurt and
- 16:27Speaker 2: they completely fall apart. I think they lost their last
- 16:29Speaker 2: seven games last year. But I don't know. I mean,
- 16:32Speaker 2: you know, you turn the football over, you can't win. Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 1: So tonight in college football, don't know how good 2-0
- 16:39Speaker 1: Miami versus 2-0 Wake Forest will be. It is a
- 16:42Speaker 1: road game for number five Miami. But they've been blitzing
- 16:45Speaker 1: everybody 630 on ESPN. Our hard rock bets point spread
- 16:49Speaker 1: on that one is 20 and a half, 20 and
- 16:51Speaker 1: a half. That seems to be a skinny number relatively
- 16:55Speaker 1: to what I think Miami could do.
- 16:57Speaker 2: To Wake Forest. Miami should be able to score at
- 17:00Speaker 2: will against most defenses, including Wake Forest and Winston-Salem. On
- 17:04Speaker 2: the other side, how good is Gio Lopez in this
- 17:06Speaker 2: Wake offense? How much success will they have against that
- 17:09Speaker 2: Miami defense? That's the big question. I mean, on a
- 17:13Speaker 2: shock meter, one to five, five being the most shocking
- 17:16Speaker 2: that Wake pulls off the upset. Oh, I'd be five, yeah.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Five, the way Miami has played. My God, they own
- 17:21Speaker 1: Friday nights. Miami's the best team in America.
- 17:24Speaker 2: On Friday nights.
- 17:25Speaker 1: I would even go, I would be pretty shocked at
- 17:28Speaker 1: a four level if it's competitive, if it's still in
- 17:31Speaker 1: doubt as we go to the fourth quarter. And, you know,
- 17:34Speaker 1: I watched Wake Forest go on the road and beat Purdue.
- 17:37Speaker 1: who I think slightly improved. That's a pretty good win
- 17:40Speaker 1: for Wake Forest, but this Miami team seems to be
- 17:43Speaker 1: at a different level.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Well, I mean, Wake can score, though. I'm not a
- 17:46Speaker 2: big Gio Lopez fan, but they're averaging 38 points per game.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I do think it's the first semblance of a test.
- 17:52Speaker 2: I don't assume that Miami's got any shot like you
- 17:55Speaker 2: of getting upset. No, but you've got to admit there's
- 17:58Speaker 2: something about conference games. Even if teams are lesser, it
- 18:02Speaker 2: is still a conference game. There's a familiarity there.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I honestly don't know how often Wake and Miami have played,
- 18:08Speaker 1: but conference games are just a little bit different.
- 18:10Speaker 2: It's why, for instance, with Alabama, I'll give them credit.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Kentucky may finish in the bottom third of the SEC
- 18:16Speaker 1: again this year, but it's still a.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Conference game, bro. Miami's won eight straight against Wake in
- 18:23Speaker 2: this series, or whatever that is. I'm not surprised at that.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I would love to hear what lanceslock.com, you can go
- 18:28Speaker 1: sign up there, has to say about.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Maybe the game of the weekend when it's all said
- 18:33Speaker 2: and done. We pour all the hype into.
- 18:35Speaker 1: LSU Ole Miss, but when the weekend is done, we
- 18:38Speaker 1: may look back and say, hey, SMU Louisville was the best.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Or was it Friday night, number 22 Houston against number
- 18:46Speaker 1: 13 Texas Tech, two 2-0 teams? Big 12 implications, 7
- 18:50Speaker 1: o'clock on Fox tonight. Key injury updates for Texas Tech.
- 18:54Speaker 1: They get back for the first time this year. Tight
- 18:57Speaker 1: end Terrence Carter and edge rusher Trey White. First blush
- 19:02Speaker 1: on this game, Houston and Texas Tech tonight.
- 19:04Speaker 2: You first, Brown.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I think Texas Tech has been underwhelming
- 19:07Speaker 1: so far. They have played two games, one at home
- 19:10Speaker 1: against Abilene Christian that I was willing to flush a
- 19:12Speaker 1: little bit because it was Abilene Christian. Though my gut
- 19:15Speaker 1: told me that Joey McGuire wanted to be impressive in
- 19:18Speaker 1: that game and he wasn't holding things back for Oregon State.
- 19:22Speaker 1: They struggled a little bit. They only won by 21.
- 19:24Speaker 2: My gut told me put more stock into that.
- 19:27Speaker 1: But then I kind of hesitated because I'm like, I mean, really,
- 19:29Speaker 1: Texas Tech's got this roster. They're supposed to be this good.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And then some of the same stuff showed up in Corvallis.
- 19:34Speaker 1: This has been an uneven start, to say the least,
- 19:37Speaker 1: for Texas Tech.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And what?
- 19:39Speaker 1: Maybe in the preseason, it didn't look like as big
- 19:41Speaker 1: a challenge. After watching Texas Tech the first two weeks,
- 19:44Speaker 1: this is a challenge. Well, and I go back to Houston, though.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Week one against Oregon State.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Same Oregon State team. Yeah, exactly. look, I had Houston
- 19:51Speaker 2: minus the points. They couldn't get home. They had holes
- 19:53Speaker 2: in their secondary. But again, I go back after watching
- 19:56Speaker 2: Oregon State back-to-back weeks against these two teams. Oregon State
- 20:01Speaker 2: can throw the football around a little bit. So, you know,
- 20:04Speaker 2: with all that said, Will Hammond, That was kind of
- 20:07Speaker 2: the question mark for Joey McGuire. He hasn't run the football,
- 20:10Speaker 2: and this is a guy that is a dual threat quarterback.
- 20:12Speaker 2: It's been very, very strange. He's completing 77% of his passes,
- 20:15Speaker 2: but he's not running the football at all.
- 20:18Speaker 1: It's been two uneven performances, but to Lance's point, rarely
- 20:21Speaker 1: you've got an out-of-conference team that's a common opponent this
- 20:24Speaker 1: early in the season. I hesitate on making comparisons on
- 20:28Speaker 1: common opponents. But if you do that, they both kind
- 20:31Speaker 1: of played Oregon State about the same, right?
- 20:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think the better quarterback is Connor Wegman.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I was about to say, I think the better coach
- 20:38Speaker 2: might be Willie Fritz. That's still kind of undecided. It's
- 20:41Speaker 2: an interesting game. And, you know, when we looked at
- 20:43Speaker 2: it in the offseason, even when we thought Sworsby was
- 20:45Speaker 2: going to be the quarterback, the one potential loss or
- 20:48Speaker 2: hiccup on the schedule looked like Houston going to Lubbock.
- 20:52Speaker 2: It looks more in play now. I mean, that number's
- 20:54Speaker 2: gone from it opened at 13 months ago, down to
- 20:58Speaker 2: 7.5 right now. Very interesting game tonight. Yeah, lanceslock.com. If
- 21:02Speaker 2: you want to play on that game tonight, I assume
- 21:03Speaker 2: you have one on the way you're talking. I do, yep. Okay,
- 21:06Speaker 2: so lanceslock.com to go there. Keep in mind, it's the.
- 21:10Speaker 1: First Friday night home game for Texas Tech since 1941.
- 21:16Speaker 1: They're reluctantly playing this game. Go back to a Next
- 21:20Speaker 1: Round episode back in the summer where they were the
- 21:24Speaker 1: billionaire team Cody Campbell was against moving this game to
- 21:27Speaker 1: Friday night. They didn't want any Friday night games because
- 21:29Speaker 1: of high school football in their part of the country.
- 21:32Speaker 1: They haven't played one since World War II, 1941 on
- 21:36Speaker 1: a Friday night. They're being forced to play it tonight
- 21:38Speaker 1: on Fox. They've got a blackout. They're not happy about it.
- 21:41Speaker 1: They're going to have an edge tonight.
- 21:43Speaker 2: That'll be interesting to see how that all plays out
- 21:46Speaker 2: tonight down in Lubbock, Texas.
- 21:48Speaker 1: One other game tonight, Portland State against Oregon. How about
- 21:52Speaker 1: this streak?
- 21:53Speaker 2: The FCS.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Has lost 209 straight games against the FBS. The FCS
- 22:00Speaker 1: hasn't won one since 2022 against the FBS.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Do you want to know what the correlation in 2022 is?
- 22:07Speaker 2: What was that, Lance? Well, in 2021, we finally started
- 22:10Speaker 2: paying athletes. 2022, it kind of got streamlined. And we
- 22:13Speaker 2: got the portal going, too. Yeah, that's the difference, though.
- 22:16Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, any guys that are really good in
- 22:18Speaker 2: the FCS, they get in the portal, they get paid.
- 22:20Speaker 1: And FCS, they're losing teams. The two winningest teams of recent...
- 22:24Speaker 1: have been North Dakota State's Jacksonville State, and both of
- 22:27Speaker 1: them are FBS teams now.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Houston State before that, game of Madison before that.
- 22:31Speaker 1: All the Delaware, Delaware's now. I mean, all the good
- 22:34Speaker 1: FCS teams just about have moved up to FBS. I mean,
- 22:37Speaker 1: you're basically left with the Montanas and some of the
- 22:40Speaker 1: Dakotas because North Dakota State's now, though. Oregon, Portland State,
- 22:44Speaker 1: and Eugene tonight at Get Right, Get the Vibes Right
- 22:47Speaker 1: game for Oregon.
- 22:48Speaker 2: When we come back, our headlines. We'll get to the
- 22:51Speaker 2: headlines for the week. Okay. No? I mean, it's Tyler.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I'm going to apologize to Tyler. It's going to be
- 22:58Speaker 2: coming in hot. Coming in hot for Tyler. Tyler can
- 23:00Speaker 2: get this done. Okay. It's coming in hot. Well, how
- 23:02Speaker 2: about this? Before the headlines, give Tyler some time to
- 23:05Speaker 2: work on it.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Not only will I tell you how I woke up
- 23:08Speaker 1: this morning with Crockett coffee, I will tell you why
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'm at a crossroads tomorrow with three television sets at home.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 23:15Speaker 1: It's not the typical easy television setup window tomorrow. I
- 23:20Speaker 1: can see Maddie already doing the math over there on
- 23:22Speaker 1: how to get your Your basement's set up tomorrow, Lance.
- 23:26Speaker 2: It's not easy tomorrow.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'll explain when we come back on the next round,
- 23:30Speaker 1: presented by Hard Rock Bet right here on Sports State. Hey,
- 23:35Speaker 1: don't forget our pick three is up at nextroundlive.com.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Nextroundlive.com.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You can go and enjoy that. If you're new to
- 23:43Speaker 1: the show, you don't have to play every week. You
- 23:45Speaker 1: don't have to say, I didn't play week one, week two.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I can't get in the competition.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Yeah, you can. You just got to go 3-0 one week.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Like somebody on this Set did last week.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Was it me? Well, I know it was me. I
- 23:58Speaker 2: don't know. I can't remember who I had. I know
- 23:59Speaker 2: I had Oklahoma State. Yeah, I'm taking baby steps. NextRoundLive.com.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Go play.
- 24:04Speaker 1: If you go 3-0 just one week, you're in the
- 24:06Speaker 1: drawing for the grand prize at the end. We'll tell
- 24:07Speaker 1: you what the grand prize is when we get to
- 24:09Speaker 1: the end. But it's all about bragging rights anyway. 3-0
- 24:12Speaker 1: gets you into the.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Drawing at the end.
- 24:14Speaker 1: NextRoundLive.com for our free, absolutely free, pick-em game.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Go 3-0 more than one week, you get more opportunities,
- 24:23Speaker 2: more balls in the bucket, we like to say around here.
- 24:26Speaker 1: So go have a good time with that, nextroundlive.com. It's
- 24:30Speaker 1: our pick three, and we appreciate those folks so much
- 24:34Speaker 1: that bring you to pick three. It was so great
- 24:36Speaker 1: this morning.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Knowing I had a road show, everyone knows how much
- 24:40Speaker 2: I love a good road show. I got my Crockett.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Coffee in my Yeti, jumped in my American-made Ford truck,
- 24:49Speaker 1: and started driving down the road, about a 55-minute drive
- 24:52Speaker 1: here to Galetz in Tuscaloosa, and sipping on the coffee.
- 24:55Speaker 2: As I was sipping on it, I was like, man,
- 24:56Speaker 2: I can't.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Believe Clay Travis, Buck Sexton, and Buck's brother Mason came
- 25:02Speaker 1: up with this coffee idea.
- 25:03Speaker 2: But they did.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And you can get all the details at CrockettCoffee.com. That's C-R-O-C-K-E-T-T, CrockettCoffee.com.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Crockett partners with Tunnel for Towers that builds mortgage-free homes,
- 25:16Speaker 1: For families of fallen service members and for those injured
- 25:19Speaker 1: veterans and first responders, it's just good coffee, made in America,
- 25:24Speaker 1: doing some good. You can get it any way you
- 25:26Speaker 1: want it, light, medium, dark, roasted. You want it ground,
- 25:29Speaker 1: you get it whole beans. They got it K-cups.
- 25:31Speaker 2: They got it free shipping on orders of $ 59 or more.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Go to CrockettCoffee.com. CrockettCoffee.com.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I joked about LT's girlfriend, Maddie, being here and– helping
- 25:44Speaker 1: you set up TVs tomorrow.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Here's why it's a problem.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Not every American does this now, but a lot of
- 25:51Speaker 1: you watch on multiple screens, whether you've got three TVs,
- 25:54Speaker 1: whether you've got a big TV, an iPad, a computer,
- 25:58Speaker 1: a phone, a second TV. You try to watch more
- 26:01Speaker 1: than one game. For me, often, my big TV, because
- 26:05Speaker 1: I'm such a big SEC fan, my big TV, my
- 26:08Speaker 1: main screen, if you will, is ABC all day.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I lock it in at 11. It's ABC all day. Boom, boom, boom.
- 26:15Speaker 2: You don't have to change. That's not the case tomorrow.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Your best games aren't on ABC.
- 26:21Speaker 1: All due respect to the one right behind Gillette's here,
- 26:23Speaker 1: Florida State and Alabama. That's not the best game.
- 26:26Speaker 2: I'll watch it.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Because I got to talk Alabama for a living. ABC
- 26:30Speaker 1: all day is usually, it's normally your choice. This is
- 26:34Speaker 1: not that weekend. That has been my favorite thing about
- 26:37Speaker 1: Disney getting the SEC rights.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Right. Is that they do the ABC all day. I
- 26:42Speaker 2: love that.
- 26:43Speaker 1: The fact that I can turn it on ABC TV
- 26:46Speaker 1: on YouTube, and there are days I never have to
- 26:47Speaker 1: take it off.
- 26:48Speaker 2: My main screen. I can't put together a way Georgia
- 26:52Speaker 2: and Arkansas at 11 a.m.
- 26:54Speaker 1: On ABC is at all entertaining, even from the jump.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I've got Arkansas fans trying to get you to stay home,
- 27:01Speaker 1: others trying to get you to wear sacks over your head.
- 27:03Speaker 1: A golf course giving you $ 25, including cards to come
- 27:06Speaker 1: play golf during the game.
- 27:08Speaker 2: That's on main ABC. That may not even make a TV.
- 27:12Speaker 1: For me in the 11 o'clock window, but the 11
- 27:14Speaker 1: o'clock window is pretty bad.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I think it's interesting this week because you've
- 27:18Speaker 2: got a lot of non-Big Ten SEC that are your
- 27:21Speaker 2: better games in these windows. I mean, like the ACC,
- 27:24Speaker 2: you can make an argument the first two windows, best game.
- 27:28Speaker 1: You're talking about in London, Arizona State and Kansas, 11
- 27:31Speaker 1: o'clock FS1. That's in the running for me and my
- 27:34Speaker 1: SEC roots. My main TV may be NC State and Vandy.
- 27:39Speaker 2: It's a little delayed, 1145 SEC Network.
- 27:42Speaker 1: But I'm interested because you and I know NC State's
- 27:45Speaker 1: better than what we saw against Virginia.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Yep. and we want to see Jared Curtis, the five-star quarterback,
- 27:51Speaker 2: make his starting debut, that could be a very entertaining game. Yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 2: I know people are going to discount this, but C.J.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Bailey right now is the much better quarterback on the field,
- 28:01Speaker 2: as bad as he looked against Virginia. Not even close.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Not even close. So, yeah, I think NC State is
- 28:05Speaker 2: getting undervalued in that spot. But my 11 o'clock go-to...
- 28:09Speaker 2: Because of the storyline would be North Carolina taking on
- 28:12Speaker 2: Clemson and Dave Reynolds getting that first career start. That's
- 28:15Speaker 2: straight out of game day.
- 28:16Speaker 1: He's right in on ESPN at 11 o'clock.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Bill Belichick, and you guys remember this, when he was
- 28:21Speaker 2: the head coach of the New England Patriots, one thing
- 28:23Speaker 2: that he completely dominated outside of winning six rings was
- 28:27Speaker 2: rookie quarterbacks. 21-6 all-time against rookie quarterbacks. It's the same thing.
- 28:32Speaker 2: You got a true freshman. And Tate Reynolds going against
- 28:36Speaker 2: his defense, he has owned these kind of quarterbacks. And
- 28:40Speaker 2: if Dabo's to lose this game and to drop to
- 28:43Speaker 2: one and two, I mean, when we came into the season,
- 28:48Speaker 2: one of the most winnable games on the schedule was
- 28:50Speaker 2: this game.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you counted this as a win for Clemson, right?
- 28:53Speaker 1: I mean, you were like, Clemson probably loses at LSU,
- 28:55Speaker 1: I thought otherwise. Clemson loses at LSU. They'll bounce back.
- 28:58Speaker 1: They'll be 2-1 after the North Carolina game. They could
- 29:00Speaker 1: easily be 1-2 at this game now. Of course, North
- 29:03Speaker 1: Carolina brings their.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Baggage in, too.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is a really good Belichick defense for
- 29:08Speaker 1: North Carolina.
- 29:08Speaker 2: And he was already calling the defense. He and... Before Steve. Yeah,
- 29:13Speaker 2: before Steve. The other guy. Well, since Steve stepped up.
- 29:16Speaker 2: The other guy.
- 29:17Speaker 1: But what makes this interesting is, if you're a Clemson fan,
- 29:20Speaker 1: here's Tate Reynolds getting his start, not because of injury.
- 29:23Speaker 2: He's starting. He's the five-star freshman. or four-star, whatever he
- 29:27Speaker 2: was in the services. He's the future. This is an opportunity.
- 29:31Speaker 1: If Tate looks good, the offense looks better against a
- 29:34Speaker 1: good defense, that you can say, okay, we got blitzed
- 29:37Speaker 1: by LSU in that circus in the opener. We stuck
- 29:40Speaker 1: with the guy who was loyal to us in week two.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Now we go to the future in week three. Pretty
- 29:46Speaker 1: good win against North Carolina. You can start selling yourself
- 29:48Speaker 1: as a Clemson fan. okay, I can see the light
- 29:52Speaker 1: at the end of the tunnel. This could turn into
- 29:54Speaker 1: an okay year. It goes just the opposite direction. If
- 29:57Speaker 1: our future starts at quarterback and we lose to North
- 30:00Speaker 1: Carolina and now we're 1-2, then the light at the
- 30:03Speaker 1: end of the tunnel.
- 30:03Speaker 2: May be the old train. Oh, look, this thing could be,
- 30:06Speaker 2: I'm talking about disastrous as in a Florida State-type year
- 30:10Speaker 2: over the last couple of years. When I look at
- 30:12Speaker 2: the 10 remaining games for Davo and Clemson, There are six,
- 30:16Speaker 2: in my opinion, that are more difficult than North Carolina.
- 30:19Speaker 2: That's right. That's right. If you lose this one. If
- 30:21Speaker 2: you lose this one, you've got a serious issue. And
- 30:25Speaker 2: if this offense doesn't look better with this kid, then
- 30:28Speaker 2: it may be an offense problem. It may be a
- 30:29Speaker 2: Chad Morris problem. It may be an offensive line problem.
- 30:32Speaker 2: It may be whatever.
- 30:34Speaker 1: If this offense doesn't look better with a new quarterback,
- 30:36Speaker 1: it could be long. You move to the 230 window.
- 30:39Speaker 1: All due respect to Florida State, Alabama, I don't expect
- 30:42Speaker 1: this to be as competitive as it was last year.
- 30:45Speaker 2: That's 230 ABC.
- 30:47Speaker 1: It'll be on my main screen because that's what I
- 30:49Speaker 1: do as a sportscaster in Alabama. But if you're watching
- 30:53Speaker 1: around the country, I will give you the best game
- 30:56Speaker 1: of the weekend may actually be at 230, and it's
- 30:58Speaker 1: not even on a major network.
- 31:00Speaker 2: It's on ESPN2, SMU, and Louisville. That's a big game. Yeah,
- 31:04Speaker 2: that's definitely the best game of the 230 window. I
- 31:06Speaker 2: would have Florida State, Alabama kind of the third, and
- 31:08Speaker 2: then outside a little bit of that window, another SEC
- 31:11Speaker 2: matchup would be the second best in my opinion. But yes,
- 31:14Speaker 2: SMU Louisville, when you look at the quarterback matchup, when
- 31:16Speaker 2: you look at Lincoln Keenholz, what he's been able to
- 31:20Speaker 2: do in the first couple of weeks as a starting
- 31:21Speaker 2: quarterback for Jeff Brom, I think, and I said this
- 31:24Speaker 2: after seeing him on that Monday night against Ole Miss,
- 31:26Speaker 2: he is by far the best option he's ever had.
- 31:28Speaker 2: And that includes Tyler Shuck, who is now starting for
- 31:31Speaker 2: the New Orleans Saints. And on the other side, Kevin Jennings.
- 31:33Speaker 2: All of his experience, the flash plays he makes, great
- 31:36Speaker 2: quarterback matchup. It is. Do we consider State and South
- 31:39Speaker 2: Carolina in the 230 window? That's right. It's 315.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Okay, well then, I think what will be your two
- 31:44Speaker 1: best games? Now, look, SMU-Lewisville, that is a playoff implication
- 31:49Speaker 1: because the winner of that game has got a good
- 31:51Speaker 1: path to play Miami for.
- 31:52Speaker 2: The ACC championship.
- 31:54Speaker 1: So you don't get a whole lot of games that
- 31:56Speaker 1: feel like playoff elimination games. This kind of feels like
- 31:59Speaker 1: one very early in the season. So there's implications to
- 32:02Speaker 1: that game. Maybe not so in the state and South
- 32:04Speaker 1: Carolina game, but I think your two most entertaining games
- 32:08Speaker 1: are those two games, SMU at Louisville and state at
- 32:10Speaker 1: South Carolina. I think both those will be close, entertaining,
- 32:13Speaker 1: well-played games.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Yeah, and I know we'll get to Auburn and Florida
- 32:15Speaker 2: in a little bit, but I was going to say
- 32:16Speaker 2: that Mississippi State and South Carolina is kind of like
- 32:19Speaker 2: that game as far as Winner's going to go to 3-0.
- 32:21Speaker 2: There's a ton of pressure on Shane Beamer. There's really
- 32:25Speaker 2: a lot of pressure on Jeff Levy coming off a
- 32:27Speaker 2: 5-7 last year in year three. What did Jeff Levy
- 32:29Speaker 2: do after three weeks last year? They fell apart. They
- 32:32Speaker 2: were 3-0, though. It would be a different path this year.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Tougher wins at Minnesota and over South Carolina.
- 32:39Speaker 2: But 2-7 down the stretch as opposed to late shape
- 32:42Speaker 2: and much better situation here. And that's the thing. If
- 32:46Speaker 2: South Carolina wins this game, they've dominated the series in
- 32:49Speaker 2: It's a good start for Shane Beamer. If Levy and
- 32:52Speaker 2: Mississippi State win this game and Kamario Taylor plays like
- 32:54Speaker 2: he played last week, that is going to be the
- 32:57Speaker 2: talk of college football.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's two good road wins at Minnesota and
- 33:00Speaker 1: at South Carolina for them. That's a 3-15 window, and
- 33:04Speaker 1: I'm telling you, just gut feeling, I don't feel like
- 33:08Speaker 1: Kentucky's second half is as bad as that Kentucky team is.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Kentucky at Texas A & M. Also in that 230
- 33:15Speaker 1: window on main ESPN. Keep an eye on that one
- 33:18Speaker 1: just to see what Kentucky shows up. Is it Kentucky
- 33:21Speaker 1: first half or is it the Kentucky team that gave
- 33:23Speaker 1: up 32 straight to Alabama? I'm not sold on Texas
- 33:27Speaker 1: A & M yet.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I'm not sure they fixed any of the holes they
- 33:30Speaker 2: needed to build coming off.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Their playoff last year. could be a sneaky good game,
- 33:35Speaker 1: Kentucky-Texas A & M. Way down the list, but that game,
- 33:38Speaker 1: Kentucky-Texas A & M, could be more interesting than Florida State-Alabama.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Well, connecting these two, you go back, Cutter Boley was
- 33:44Speaker 2: your quarterback last year at Kentucky. He ends up going
- 33:47Speaker 2: to Arizona State. I don't know if Will Stein would
- 33:49Speaker 2: have rather had Kenny Minchey, but last week, Cutter Boley
- 33:52Speaker 2: had a lot of success until the fourth quarter. They
- 33:55Speaker 2: turned it over. You had to pick six. Everything fell
- 33:57Speaker 2: apart for Arizona State, but I guarantee you, Will Stein,
- 34:00Speaker 2: looking at that defense... It's like, there's a couple of
- 34:02Speaker 2: holes in Texas A & M' s defense that I didn't realize.
- 34:05Speaker 2: So I wouldn't be surprised for Kentucky definitely to keep
- 34:08Speaker 2: it as a number, but to make this an interesting game.
- 34:10Speaker 1: And let me just say this, and I'm bad about this.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I can't tell you how many times in life that
- 34:16Speaker 1: I wish for something.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I wish for something. Feels like every day. Yeah, but
- 34:21Speaker 2: in life, I mean, it could be anything, you know, abs, whatever, hair.
- 34:25Speaker 2: And then you get something and it ends.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Up being not what you want. You fans used to
- 34:31Speaker 1: always bitch and moan. I don't like not knowing what
- 34:35Speaker 1: time my game kicks until six days out, seven days out.
- 34:40Speaker 2: I want to know when my game kicks off so
- 34:43Speaker 2: I can make plans two weekends from now.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Well, when you did that and we came up with, okay,
- 34:49Speaker 1: we're going to tell you, maybe not exact start times,
- 34:51Speaker 1: we're going to tell you the window. It's going to
- 34:53Speaker 1: be a morning game. It's going to be an afternoon
- 34:55Speaker 1: or evening game. Or it's going to be an evening game.
- 34:58Speaker 1: We boxed ourselves in. And what we did, we screwed
- 35:02Speaker 1: up this weekend in television in the SEC by doing that.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Because at 11 o'clock on ABC, we have Georgia-Arkansas. If
- 35:08Speaker 1: we had waited until Sunday or Saturday to build out
- 35:13Speaker 1: this TV schedule, 11 o'clock on ABC could have given
- 35:17Speaker 1: us Florida at Auburn, which is a terrific game. It
- 35:21Speaker 1: could have given us Mississippi State or at South Carolina,
- 35:24Speaker 1: which is a terrific game. We didn't know when we
- 35:27Speaker 1: put out this schedule, making this an afternoon or evening window,
- 35:32Speaker 1: that Camario Taylor and Lenore Sellers and that Mississippi State-South
- 35:36Speaker 1: Carolina game was going to look as good as this.
- 35:38Speaker 1: We didn't know it was going to be this, so
- 35:40Speaker 1: we put it as an afternoon or an evening window
- 35:42Speaker 1: because we didn't want it to get lost We didn't
- 35:45Speaker 1: want to put it in an early window and that
- 35:47Speaker 1: be something main.
- 35:48Speaker 2: So if you were building the schedule, it would look
- 35:50Speaker 2: like what? If I was building the schedule, 11 o'clock
- 35:53Speaker 2: on ABC would either be Florida at Auburn. All due
- 35:56Speaker 2: respect to my Auburn friends, I know you love the
- 35:58Speaker 2: night game. I like the night game there. Oh, I know.
- 36:00Speaker 1: But the B viewing, the B ceiling viewer, that game
- 36:03Speaker 1: would bring in eyeballs coast to coast. But everyone's talking
- 36:07Speaker 1: Camario Taylor. It would have been so easy if we
- 36:09Speaker 1: had not already designated this as an afternoon slash evening game.
- 36:13Speaker 1: to put Mississippi State, South Carolina, 11 o'clock on ABC,
- 36:17Speaker 1: and everybody watched Super Camario in that game in a
- 36:20Speaker 1: great atmosphere. That is such a much better game than
- 36:23Speaker 1: people watching Georgia and Arkansas.
- 36:25Speaker 2: But, I mean, Mississippi State, South Carolina is just not
- 36:27Speaker 2: going to move the needle at all. But start with
- 36:30Speaker 2: Camario Taylor. Yeah, but I still, I just don't think there's,
- 36:33Speaker 2: the marginal fan knows about that guy yet. I think
- 36:36Speaker 2: that changed over the last two weeks. I really do.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I hope.
- 36:39Speaker 1: To the primetime window, you can't go wrong. Everyone's going
- 36:42Speaker 1: to watch LSU-Ole Miss. Florida-Auburn's the second best game. How
- 36:46Speaker 1: are you doing your other TVs in that window, LT?
- 36:50Speaker 2: I will have, obviously, LSU-Ole Miss. So the way I
- 36:53Speaker 2: do my setup, and again, My reasoning is we do
- 36:58Speaker 2: this for a living. And I do have a side hustle.
- 37:00Speaker 2: And it's a tax rental. But I've got the big
- 37:04Speaker 2: on one wall. That will be LSU Ole Miss. Then
- 37:06Speaker 2: I've got what I call my door TV, at least
- 37:08Speaker 2: according to my universal remote. So above my door, I've
- 37:12Speaker 2: got a 65 right there. That is my second best,
- 37:14Speaker 2: but just because of my vantage point where I sit
- 37:16Speaker 2: on the couch. So that will probably at least initially
- 37:20Speaker 2: start with Florida Auburn. After that, I start doing the
- 37:24Speaker 2: quad boxes on a lot, but I don't know because
- 37:26Speaker 2: I love this Virginia Tech-Maryland game. I'll get more to
- 37:28Speaker 2: that in our pick three later on. Yep. I don't
- 37:30Speaker 2: know which way you're going with that one. And West Virginia-Virginia,
- 37:35Speaker 2: I think that's going to be a fun game. 630
- 37:36Speaker 2: ACC Network, that's a fun game. But I've got to
- 37:39Speaker 2: keep an eye on New Mexico-Oklahoma. Yep. Potential disaster game
- 37:45Speaker 2: for Brent. Oh, it could be. I mean, New Mexico
- 37:48Speaker 2: and Jason Eck, the last– FBS team they beat, or
- 37:51Speaker 2: last ranked FBS, I should say, and I brought this
- 37:54Speaker 2: up a couple of days ago, was Washington State two
- 37:56Speaker 2: years ago with a combination of Ben Arbuckle and John Mateer.
- 37:59Speaker 2: They're seeing them again getting 22 and a half points
- 38:01Speaker 2: in that spot. Lugaville's on that game.
- 38:03Speaker 1: I was actually texting with him about it last night,
- 38:06Speaker 1: joking with him that in the preseason, I call this
- 38:08Speaker 1: a trap game. So congrats, it'll be 60 to nothing.
- 38:11Speaker 1: And I think Luka Bills and New Mexico respect her. Like,
- 38:13Speaker 1: I don't know that he thinks this is just going
- 38:15Speaker 1: to be a run out.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Yeah. So those are– so number one would be LSU
- 38:19Speaker 2: Ole Miss. Number two, Florida Auburn. Then I would go
- 38:22Speaker 2: Virginia Tech, Maryland, and then West Virginia, Virginia. Those are
- 38:24Speaker 2: all good games. Sneaky eye on– in Fort Collins, Colorado,
- 38:28Speaker 2: BYU on the road against Colorado State. Jim Moore's first
- 38:31Speaker 2: year there. That one can– Can sneak inside the number, maybe,
- 38:35Speaker 2: for Colorado State.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Somebody in the chat is asking broadcast crew assignments. I
- 38:39Speaker 1: don't know if we can discuss that because we know.
- 38:41Speaker 1: We haven't, but which games do they want? Well, they
- 38:43Speaker 1: want to bam a Florida State. It's going to be
- 38:44Speaker 1: Sean McDonough, Greg McElroy, their official TV home. They almost
- 38:48Speaker 1: do as many games as Chris Stewart, Tyler Watts do.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Sean McDonough, Chris Stewart. I picture Chris being that sheepdog
- 38:56Speaker 2: and Sean McDonough being the wolf. Hey, Chris. Hey, Sean.
- 39:01Speaker 2: We're collecting in again, aren't we? Yeah, we are. They
- 39:04Speaker 2: do a lot of games. But it works out. That's
- 39:07Speaker 2: my favorite crew. I love Tommy Dunn. Tommy Dunn is fantastic.
- 39:10Speaker 2: I love him. But that is it. And for those
- 39:13Speaker 2: that care, the Auburn-Florida game is Tom Hart. Great group.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Great Tom Hart.
- 39:18Speaker 1: He gets a night game again in the SEC.
- 39:22Speaker 2: But it's a good one, Auburn and Florida. Would you
- 39:23Speaker 2: guys rather have really good nine o'clock games or 11
- 39:27Speaker 2: o'clock games? I like a good, I like a good
- 39:29Speaker 2: nine o'clock game. Yeah. Yep. I don't know. I mean,
- 39:33Speaker 2: then you get one with James Madison and San Diego state.
- 39:36Speaker 1: I mean, dude, I think Purdue and UCLA will be
- 39:39Speaker 1: entertaining as heck.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it could be. Yeah. UCLA is surprised. I do
- 39:44Speaker 2: think like I couldn't get to, I don't, I couldn't
- 39:47Speaker 2: get the guts to go Purdue again.
- 39:48Speaker 1: I don't think, what was the number of that?
- 39:50Speaker 2: 14 and a half. 14 and a half. I almost
- 39:51Speaker 2: went Purdue in the upset alert.
- 39:53Speaker 1: And now sitting here as a loser, like Brown trying
- 39:56Speaker 1: to buy back into the survivor pool. I'd love to
- 39:58Speaker 1: buy back into the upset alert as we can take Purdue.
- 40:01Speaker 2: We did, people used to complain about, or we've actually
- 40:04Speaker 2: talked about like, man, having the good games at 11 o'clock.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Now ratings have been fantastic.
- 40:08Speaker 1: You got good games at 11 o'clock and they're not
- 40:10Speaker 1: going anywhere. But I try to remind you guys of
- 40:13Speaker 1: game day wrapping up with all that energy. Coach Corso
- 40:17Speaker 1: puts on that headgear. Place going nuts. Everybody's cheering. And
- 40:20Speaker 1: then you go to like Pam Ward at Purdue. Those
- 40:23Speaker 1: were awful games, man. You remember how bad those were?
- 40:26Speaker 1: There was zero atmosphere.
- 40:27Speaker 2: That's right. And it was like Pam Ward and Todd Christensen.
- 40:31Speaker 2: We don't get that name.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Today, we have got Purdue facing Northwestern here at West Lafayette.
- 40:37Speaker 2: There was some energy. Yeah. It's all gone now. And
- 40:40Speaker 2: I know where you are. I think you're like me.
- 40:41Speaker 2: You're indifferent on game day, Brown. I know it's not
- 40:43Speaker 2: the way you like it.
- 40:44Speaker 1: It's always on on Saturday. I never don't have it
- 40:46Speaker 1: on on Saturday. Yeah, but do you pay a lot
- 40:48Speaker 1: of attention to it?
- 40:49Speaker 2: I watch the first probably half hour. Yep.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Then I do all my Saturday stuff, and I try
- 40:54Speaker 1: to make sure I'm back there by the picks, not
- 40:56Speaker 1: because I care about the picks. I cared about them
- 40:58Speaker 1: when Coach Corso did it. I loved Coach Corso's headgear.
- 41:00Speaker 1: That was just part of Saturday morning.
- 41:03Speaker 2: I want to be there for McAfee's kick. That's entertaining
- 41:05Speaker 2: for me.
- 41:05Speaker 1: I do like McAfee's kick, but I never know when
- 41:07Speaker 1: that's coming, so I don't care. You know, most of
- 41:10Speaker 1: the time you catch that on social media. It was
- 41:12Speaker 1: legitimately a one kicker. I don't know why that bothers you.
- 41:15Speaker 1: It's not your money.
- 41:18Speaker 2: It's stupid, though. I don't think it is. I actually
- 41:20Speaker 2: like it. It gives them another chance for less money.
- 41:22Speaker 2: The problem so far is the kickers have been too good.
- 41:24Speaker 2: That kid last week would have been kicked for half
- 41:26Speaker 2: the division. And that's another thing is they find these people.
- 41:29Speaker 2: It's not like they're just bringing somebody in. I like
- 41:31Speaker 2: it when they've got a bad one. It's more fun
- 41:32Speaker 2: when they've got a bad one. Then they'll have to
- 41:34Speaker 2: limp a female in a little bit. She'll miss three times,
- 41:36Speaker 2: and they'll let her continue to kick until she can
- 41:38Speaker 2: absolutely make it. Or pick somebody out of the same.
- 41:40Speaker 2: But the reason I bring up game day is I'm
- 41:42Speaker 2: interested more that Morgan Freeman is going to be on
- 41:44Speaker 2: that desk. I usually don't care at all. The only
- 41:47Speaker 2: man that could bring peace to this rivalry is Morgan Freeman.
- 41:49Speaker 1: When we come back, you tell me your favorite two
- 41:52Speaker 1: Morgan Freeman movies and why. And we'll do our headlines
- 41:55Speaker 1: for the week. This is the next round. We're at Galette's,
- 41:58Speaker 1: historic Galette's 50th anniversary in Tuscaloosa. And we're brought to
- 42:03Speaker 1: you by our friends at Hard Rock Bets on Sported State.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Back with you from Galette's in Tuscaloosa, kicking off a
- 42:10Speaker 1: big Florida State, Alabama weekend. Before LT tells us about
- 42:14Speaker 1: Clay Travis Law, I saw a stat, I think it
- 42:17Speaker 1: was on the athletic website, that NFL teams.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Now are under center.
- 42:24Speaker 1: 42.5% of the plays now. Under center, moving away from
- 42:30Speaker 1: the shotgun, more 50-50 now. And the success they're having
- 42:34Speaker 1: with that because of the run game resurgence, but also
- 42:37Speaker 1: the play action off of the run game. So 42.5%
- 42:41Speaker 1: and we know a lot of things often trickle down.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Trickle up now, trickle down.
- 42:45Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see more under center play is
- 42:48Speaker 1: coming back in the football.
- 42:50Speaker 2: It's interesting.
- 42:51Speaker 1: You'll have to dig back in our on-demand in the summer.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Mark Schliereth was with us with Fox and he went
- 42:58Speaker 1: in depth about that, about how the teams that can
- 43:01Speaker 1: still go under center are the teams that are being
- 43:03Speaker 1: more successful offensively. I think that was back in July,
- 43:06Speaker 1: which Stink was on with us, maybe early August. So
- 43:09Speaker 1: If you go to Next Round Live on YouTube and
- 43:10Speaker 1: dig back through our archives, you can find that interview
- 43:12Speaker 1: if you kind of want to geek out on it
- 43:14Speaker 1: on the X's and O's side. He did a really
- 43:16Speaker 1: good job of explaining why teams are more successful doing
- 43:18Speaker 1: that now.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Tell us about Clay Travis Law, man. Accidents do not
- 43:22Speaker 2: wait for a good time. One bad moment, a wreck,
- 43:24Speaker 2: a fall, a doctor who wasn't paying attention. Suddenly, you're
- 43:26Speaker 2: finding an insurance company that does this every single day.
- 43:29Speaker 2: That's why Clay started Clay Travis Law, built a firm
- 43:32Speaker 2: around one idea. People deserve someone willing to pay attention.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Ask the hard questions and push back when things don't
- 43:38Speaker 2: add up. Experienced trial attorneys who bring the fight to
- 43:41Speaker 2: corporations and insurers based in Nashville, trusted across the country.
- 43:44Speaker 2: They lead negotiations in honesty, determination, and southern grit. Car wrecks,
- 43:48Speaker 2: truck wrecks, ride share accidents, medical malpractice. If you were wrong,
- 43:52Speaker 2: they want to hear about it. The case evaluation, absolutely free,
- 43:57Speaker 2: no charge, no pressure, no hassle. Just tell them your story.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Go to claytravislaw.com. That's claytravislaw.com. or call 877-222-4444. No K's
- 44:06Speaker 2: too big or too small. All right, so headline time,
- 44:10Speaker 2: and it's the third time we've done this. If you're
- 44:13Speaker 2: with us new on Sporting State, I always ask.
- 44:15Speaker 1: You now to go over to Ed Next Round Live

- 44:32Speaker 1: and we appreciate you guys doing that. And every Friday,
- 44:35Speaker 1: we've done this now for 1,285 shows. However many Fridays
- 44:40Speaker 1: fall into the 1,285 we've done, we've done headlines on
- 44:43Speaker 1: Football Friday. This is our opportunity to take a look
- 44:46Speaker 1: at what's going to happen in the future of college
- 44:49Speaker 1: sports through headlines. And our man Lance over here, I
- 44:52Speaker 1: almost called him Clay, Lance over here is going to
- 44:55Speaker 1: go first today.
- 44:56Speaker 2: So, Lance? What are your headlines today? I think we're
- 44:59Speaker 2: probably all heading to the same place. Oh, really? Yeah. Maybe.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Going one state over, a border state, the Oxford Gazette.
- 45:09Speaker 2: And here we go. Tyler, let me know when it's up.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Probably is up now. Yeah. We're going to go with it.
- 45:18Speaker 2: There's a delay. You guys see it well after the
- 45:22Speaker 2: audience sees it.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:23Speaker 2: You might want to put it up on your phone
- 45:25Speaker 2: to read it. Yeah, I got it right here. L.S. Ballou.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Lane gets trained by former team as five different Rebels
- 45:34Speaker 2: score touchdowns. Tigers get railed. Jeez. Yeah, it's a rough day,
- 45:40Speaker 2: isn't it? Why has Ole Miss got so many players? Hey,
- 45:42Speaker 2: what about the side headlines? Okay. Colonel Reb is crying.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Former mascot voted second dirtiest old man in Oxford's newest poll.
- 45:51Speaker 2: That's my favorite one so far. Why did Ole Miss
- 45:54Speaker 2: have so many guys who were in 11? Isn't that
- 45:56Speaker 2: a penalty? Just go ahead. You know, Tyler actually put
- 46:01Speaker 2: that together. Oh, yeah. And then Tyler Morgan Freeman. Yep.
- 46:04Speaker 2: Morgan Freeman on his recent trip to Oxford. Pretty cool town. Yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Kind of like it. Let's do mine next.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Let's go to the Delta Daily where you see Pete
- 46:18Speaker 1: Golding fishing. He's got a big shark on the end
- 46:21Speaker 1: of it. But I have him saying, we're going to
- 46:23Speaker 1: need a bigger boat. Joey Freshwater gets off the hook.
- 46:27Speaker 2: LSU gets the win. I never read what AI writes
- 46:31Speaker 2: down below it. Let me just read it real quick.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Fishing legend Joey Freshwater made a close call this weekend
- 46:37Speaker 2: when a monster shark took his bait. Wonder if Lane's
- 46:41Speaker 2: ever had his bait taken in Oxford before. Right below
- 46:45Speaker 2: that on the headlines, Holly Iroh. Instead of I roll, Holly,
- 46:50Speaker 2: I row. Holly row. Oh, I got you. I got you.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Apple creates new emoji of Holly's I roll off the weekend.
- 46:57Speaker 2: I wonder what it says there. In a move no
- 46:59Speaker 2: one saw coming. I wanted to read that.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Apple announced today it'll be adding a new emoji to
- 47:03Speaker 1: its lineup.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Miss Holly, I row. Not bad for AI. And then
- 47:10Speaker 2: the last one, Norvell goes home to an empty house.
- 47:13Speaker 2: You found the photo.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Yeah, there's the photo of the moving truck that he
- 47:17Speaker 1: seemed to not know was at his house.
- 47:18Speaker 2: That's right. And AI says.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Mike Norvell goes home, no staff members, no family, and
- 47:26Speaker 1: an empty house. The silence is deafening, says Mike Norvell
- 47:31Speaker 1: of Florida State.
- 47:32Speaker 2: AI's pretty good, man.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Yeah, they write better stories than some people do. I
- 47:37Speaker 1: guess we're learning in the media that AI actually writes
- 47:39Speaker 1: some of the stories I actually read.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Probably so. What do you have, Brownie? I'm going to Oxford, Mississippi. Yeah,
- 47:44Speaker 2: I bet.
- 47:45Speaker 1: The Oxford Rebel newspaper on Sunday said, Nobody notices midfield
- 47:50Speaker 1: animal sacrifice at the LSU Ole Miss game.
- 47:52Speaker 2: So much going on. They had a midfield animal sacrifice.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Nobody noticed. That is unbelievable. Completely flew under the radar.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Would ESPN show that? Nobody noticed, Lance. They didn't notice.
- 48:01Speaker 2: There's so much going on at this game. It looks
- 48:03Speaker 2: like a bad Chick-fil-A coming or something. Nobody noticed. Nobody
- 48:06Speaker 2: noticed an animal sacrifice. Pretty crazy.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Page two, was the viral video of Brown slapping Dunaway
- 48:12Speaker 1: AI or not?
- 48:13Speaker 2: Experts say no. No. Actually happened. And then page three,
- 48:16Speaker 2: Florida State Seminole mascot. And by the way, I would
- 48:19Speaker 2: laugh and not apologize. Hey, let's do this.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Let's start reenacting big historical moments. Let AI do it
- 48:26Speaker 1: with you and I as the characters. Knock me to
- 48:27Speaker 1: the ground. Florida State Seminole mascot officially replaced by the
- 48:32Speaker 1: 1980s crying Indian.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Oh, man. The pollution Indian? The pollution Indian. He hated litter.
- 48:37Speaker 2: And he hates Florida State losing football games now. Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 2: That's our headlines, what we expect. So around the board.
- 48:44Speaker 2: In the headlines, you made it sound like you thought
- 48:46Speaker 2: Ole Miss is going to win the game. Was that
- 48:48Speaker 2: just for the jokes? No, no, no. I think Ole Miss. Yeah,
- 48:50Speaker 2: I really do.
- 48:51Speaker 1: I'm going LSU in my headline. I feel like LSU.
- 48:54Speaker 1: We haven't talked about it. We talked about it all week.
- 48:56Speaker 1: But today, you have a lean feel on that game?
- 48:59Speaker 2: I like LSU, I think.
- 49:00Speaker 1: I think, you know, we've talked about it all offseason, Lance.
- 49:03Speaker 1: These games that are played. that are such big emotional games,
- 49:07Speaker 1: I think sometimes it's a disadvantage to play them at home.
- 49:10Speaker 2: I don't disagree, but I think when your head coach
- 49:12Speaker 2: brings unneeded drama, which Lane Kiffin does, I think you
- 49:16Speaker 2: guys are totally wrong when we talked about earlier this week,
- 49:19Speaker 2: the most precious. is on Lane Kiffin in this spot. Now,
- 49:22Speaker 2: I did see a playoff indicator. If Ole Miss loses
- 49:24Speaker 2: this game, their playoff odds drop to 8% to make
- 49:27Speaker 2: the playoffs with that difficult schedule. So, to me, this
- 49:30Speaker 2: is a game Ole Miss has just got to have,
- 49:32Speaker 2: and I think it's a Trinidad moment. I think he's
- 49:34Speaker 2: that good. I think you make an argument he's the
- 49:35Speaker 2: best quarterback. in college football currently, and this is going
- 49:38Speaker 2: to be the reason he's making $ 4 or $ 5 million.
- 49:41Speaker 1: More on that game as we go for three more hours.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Todd Furman coming up at the top of the hour.
- 49:46Speaker 1: We'll tell you about Gillette's here in just a second,
- 49:49Speaker 1: where we are to kick off this weekend. But some
- 49:52Speaker 1: quick NFL notes. Sean McVay hopes Aaron Donald plays on
- 49:57Speaker 1: Monday night.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Yeah, look, he practiced yesterday, and right now it's kind
- 50:01Speaker 2: of questionable whether or not he'll play. I really believe
- 50:04Speaker 2: for their home opener on Monday night, with those beautiful
- 50:07Speaker 2: soul jerseys you guys don't like, I think 99 will
- 50:10Speaker 2: be out there.
- 50:11Speaker 1: By the way, Bo Nix says he and the Broncos
- 50:14Speaker 1: are not freaking out. A lot of people I was
- 50:17Speaker 1: looking at last night like Jacksonville as an upset alert
- 50:22Speaker 1: winner on the road at Denver this weekend.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Jacksonville getting a win on the road at Denver. How
- 50:26Speaker 2: could you not? The way Jacksonville has played their last
- 50:29Speaker 2: 10 games out offensively under Liam Cohen, And the way
- 50:32Speaker 2: Denver looked the other night with Bo Nix. I mean,
- 50:34Speaker 2: Bo Nix was like an unconfident. We've seen great Bo.
- 50:38Speaker 2: We've seen bad Bo. He looked like bad Bo. Yeah.
- 50:42Speaker 1: It'll be 10 days by the time the Patriots play
- 50:44Speaker 1: on Sunday. They expect Henderson to be back at running back.
- 50:47Speaker 1: They get Pittsburgh this weekend.
- 50:50Speaker 2: I don't think Pittsburgh's very good. Aaron Rodgers disagrees. He
- 50:53Speaker 2: said we could be one of the surprises of the NFL.
- 50:56Speaker 2: I thought New England offensively looked awful, but they were
- 50:59Speaker 2: going against arguably the best defense in football in Seattle
- 51:02Speaker 2: on the road. Drake Mays got to clean it up.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Three interceptions just can't happen.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Yeah, the Steelers, I mean, everybody focused, not everybody, but
- 51:10Speaker 1: a lot of people focused on how bad the Falcons
- 51:12Speaker 1: had gotten with Cooper Rush starting a quarterback because all
- 51:16Speaker 1: they got is her quarterbacks. And I think some of
- 51:18Speaker 1: it got overshadowed into how bad the Steelers played them.
- 51:21Speaker 2: I did not– I didn't like– Well, and Aaron Rodgers
- 51:23Speaker 2: after the game, hey, look, we won by seven. We
- 51:25Speaker 2: could have won by a lot more. We missed this.
- 51:27Speaker 2: We missed that. But you did. Now, I had it
- 51:29Speaker 2: on a secondary TV, so I didn't pay a ton
- 51:31Speaker 2: of attention to it. Yeah. But I'm not a big
- 51:33Speaker 2: fan of the Steelers this year.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Drew Locke getting to start again for Seattle against the Cardinals.
- 51:37Speaker 2: Things sort of falling the Cardinals way early on. Yeah.
- 51:40Speaker 2: What will be interesting with the different weapons the Cardinals
- 51:44Speaker 2: have and what– Mike LaFleur has got at his disposal there,
- 51:49Speaker 2: is can they make plays against that Seattle defense? Because
- 51:52Speaker 2: on the other side, I thought the Cardinals defense was
- 51:54Speaker 2: really scrappy against Justin Herbert and that Chargers offense, and
- 51:57Speaker 2: I think they can hold Drew Lockett Bay. Would it
- 52:01Speaker 2: not be amazing if the Cardinals opened 2-0 on the
- 52:04Speaker 2: road against the Chargers and then against the defending champions? Yeah,
- 52:07Speaker 2: and almost every survivor pool would be empty at that point.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Maybe so. A lot would be. Almost everybody at the
- 52:13Speaker 2: Cardinals can't do it, can we? San Francisco, though, against
- 52:16Speaker 2: your dog. Yeah, that's a popular pick, and I understand why.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Trend and angle. Bryce Young.
- 52:22Speaker 1: 4-1 all-time against the Atlanta Falcons. They play each other
- 52:25Speaker 1: this weekend, and Bryce is 4-1 all-time against the Falcons.
- 52:28Speaker 2: And Bryce was really, really good last week. He was
- 52:30Speaker 2: playing from behind the entire game against Chicago, but he
- 52:33Speaker 2: lit up that defense, and you didn't really notice because
- 52:35Speaker 2: Chicago goes out and scores 59 points. Yeah, and then my.
- 52:39Speaker 1: survivor pool pick that they laughed at. I like Texans
- 52:42Speaker 1: against the Bengals. Did we do our picks already? Oh,
- 52:47Speaker 1: we got, we got to do the back rooms too.
- 52:49Speaker 1: We did do yours and mine's cause you had the
- 52:51Speaker 1: 49 Francisco. I've got Houston after laughter. We'll get the
- 52:55Speaker 1: guys behind the glass coming up as we move throughout
- 52:58Speaker 1: the show. Joe Burrow though, tight back. Some people are
- 53:02Speaker 1: saying this could be a lingering, maybe season ending issue
- 53:05Speaker 1: before it's said and done.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Imagine that with Joe Burrow. And, that this could be
- 53:09Speaker 2: his last year in Cincinnati. Well, it'd be a huge
- 53:12Speaker 2: mistake by the Bengals. But I mean, now, if he
- 53:15Speaker 2: can't stay, I kind of said that like the group
- 53:17Speaker 2: that did.
- 53:19Speaker 1: The Bengals, the Bengals, the Bengals. But if you can't
- 53:23Speaker 1: stay healthy, you can't stay healthy. And that has been
- 53:25Speaker 1: the biggest issue with him so far. When he's, as
- 53:28Speaker 1: the old saying goes, he's well when he's, or he's
- 53:30Speaker 1: ill when he's well. But he just cannot stay healthy.
- 53:33Speaker 2: I didn't think he looked very good last week. Well,
- 53:35Speaker 2: that's only because he's already hurt. Yeah, you watch more
- 53:38Speaker 2: of that game, but I thought he was kind of
- 53:39Speaker 2: pedestrian in that game. The Bucs gave them two short touchdowns,
- 53:43Speaker 2: and that's the difference in the game.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Eternal flame on the Bengals. Great dance song back in
- 53:47Speaker 1: the middle. Yeah, a slow dance song. Yeah, absolutely.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Not a get up and move your feet. Susanna Hopps
- 53:53Speaker 2: on the show. Galetz is where we are in Tuscaloosa.
- 53:57Speaker 2: 50-year anniversary.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Home of the Yellowhammer, literally the closest hangout place to
- 54:03Speaker 1: Bryant-Denny Stadium, the perfect tailgate all weekend long, every game
- 54:07Speaker 1: in Tuscaloosa. Come by Gillette's. We open the doors at
- 54:10Speaker 1: 11 o'clock. It should be a lot of fun. Todd
- 54:12Speaker 1: Furman standing by on the other side, hour two of
- 54:16Speaker 1: the next round, presented by Hard Rock Bets here on
- 54:19Speaker 1: Sports State.
