- 0:55Speaker 2: We'll do our headlines during our sport and state part
- 0:58Speaker 2: of the show. We'll do our version of the pick
- 0:59Speaker 2: three later on. But before we talk about last night,
- 1:03Speaker 2: last thing we saw in the NFL and all the
- 1:05Speaker 2: great college football to get to, it is a monumental
- 1:08Speaker 2: day in the history of our country. Twenty five years
- 1:10Speaker 2: ago today was the attack on the Twin Towers in
- 1:15Speaker 2: New York City. And we all have memories from that day.
- 1:21Speaker 2: And as I was telling people earlier today and at
- 1:24Speaker 2: home last night, anytime I start going back and looking
- 1:27Speaker 2: at video and seeing coverage from that day, as we
- 1:32Speaker 2: always approach September 11th, it always seems like it was yesterday.
- 1:37Speaker 2: The emotions are still so raw when you see video
- 1:40Speaker 2: and hear stories, and I will, haven't today yet, I'll
- 1:43Speaker 2: watch Red Bandana, the great ESPN story, and all the
- 1:46Speaker 2: heroes from that day, but 25 years later, and it
- 1:50Speaker 2: still is such an open wound.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and you guys probably like this. I can think
- 1:57Speaker 3: back to my wedding back in 1999, and there's a
- 2:01Speaker 3: lot of people I can't remember who they were there,
- 2:03Speaker 3: and there's little pieces I can't remember. I remember because
- 2:06Speaker 3: Jack was asking me about it before the game last night,
- 2:09Speaker 3: and I remember so many vivid details. I remember getting
- 2:13Speaker 3: up and coming in, and the first plane had already hit,
- 2:16Speaker 3: I had the Today Show on. A lot of people
- 2:18Speaker 3: used to watch the Today Show every morning. That's where
- 2:20Speaker 3: I saw it, honestly. There wasn't a lot of outlets.
- 2:22Speaker 3: And I remember watching live when the second plane flies
- 2:26Speaker 3: into the Twin Towers and just thinking, oh, my God,
- 2:29Speaker 3: what is going on? And then Bob Woodman was our
- 2:32Speaker 3: old sales manager. I don't know if Bob's with us.
- 2:34Speaker 3: He could be dead now. I have no idea of it.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I remember calling him and he's like, we're under attack.
- 2:40Speaker 3: And it just the whole day. And I ended up
- 2:42Speaker 3: not leaving the house. And I remember, man, I, you know,
- 2:45Speaker 3: I don't get really emotional a lot. I remember crying
- 2:47Speaker 3: in bed that night. Like it was just, it was
- 2:50Speaker 3: just such a sad scene, but man, I remember so
- 2:52Speaker 3: much about it. And what was ironic was I had
- 2:55Speaker 3: never been to New York city and I had a
- 2:57Speaker 3: trip planned to go October the month after, and we
- 2:59Speaker 3: couldn't decide whether or not to go. And we ended
- 3:01Speaker 3: up going and, Like just being around it, like the
- 3:04Speaker 3: smells and just the way the city was that early.
- 3:07Speaker 3: It was just, it was a terrible time. You didn't
- 3:11Speaker 3: have kids yet, right? Did not have kids. Yeah, and
- 3:13Speaker 3: you didn't need them.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Little Harper had been born in December, so she had
- 3:17Speaker 1: not been.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Reached one yet. But it would make it scarier with kids. Oh,
- 3:21Speaker 3: that's right. I mean, the little baby. Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I remember watching some of the coverage holding her throughout
- 3:26Speaker 1: the day. Yeah, I just always remember as a kid
- 3:28Speaker 1: growing up how my parents and my grandparents talked about
- 3:31Speaker 1: when John F. Kennedy was assassinated, how the world basically
- 3:34Speaker 1: came to a stop. The entire world did. And I
- 3:37Speaker 1: just remember thinking, well, that was their thing, you know,
- 3:40Speaker 1: and I don't guess we'll ever have one of those.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And before that, Pearl Harbor. Yeah, Pearl Harbor and things
- 3:44Speaker 1: like that. And I guess you just think that's not
- 3:46Speaker 1: going to happen in my lifetime, right? They had those things.
- 3:49Speaker 1: It was a different world back then. And, I mean,
- 3:51Speaker 1: the world literally came to a stop.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I mean, the planes were flying. Everything has changed when
- 3:56Speaker 3: you look at TSA and, you know, how different things are.
- 4:00Speaker 3: And there's a lot of people listening to us right
- 4:01Speaker 3: now that, you know, don't understand the way things were
- 4:05Speaker 3: so different. you know, and when we had this conversation
- 4:07Speaker 3: last night, Maddie chimed in, you know, she's from Los
- 4:10Speaker 3: Angeles and she remembers, you know, she was a different age,
- 4:13Speaker 3: but she remembers.
- 4:14Speaker 1: You're about to tell me she wasn't alive yet.
- 4:15Speaker 3: No, but, but she was with her mom and her
- 4:18Speaker 3: mom was panicking because her brothers were at different schools and, and,
- 4:23Speaker 3: They're in Los Angeles, so they're thinking, hey, the next target.
- 4:26Speaker 3: It was kind of weird because there wasn't any West
- 4:28Speaker 3: Coast targeting. It was all on the East Coast. We
- 4:30Speaker 3: didn't know. We didn't know. You thought this was only
- 4:33Speaker 3: the beginning. You just assumed it was a chain of
- 4:34Speaker 3: events that was about to happen. You just assumed this
- 4:36Speaker 3: was only the beginning. That's right.
- 4:38Speaker 1: We'll be dealing with this. That's one takeaway I've got.
- 4:41Speaker 1: If you had talked to me on September 12th of 2001,
- 4:44Speaker 1: I would have told you, we'll be dealing with this
- 4:47Speaker 1: the rest of our lives.
- 4:48Speaker 3: The rest of our lives. There'll be problems.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Buildings blown up, there'll be attacks the rest of our life.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And to the credit of the United States military, we
- 4:57Speaker 1: never have. We took the fight to them and the
- 5:01Speaker 1: fight has stayed on their soil primarily. So thank God
- 5:04Speaker 1: for that because I don't think you could convince me
- 5:07Speaker 1: of that on September 12th of 2001 that this would be,
- 5:11Speaker 1: at least to now, the last time you've seen anything
- 5:13Speaker 1: quite like that. 136 countries offered aid and helped us
- 5:19Speaker 1: Right afterwards, which is, I don't know if the world
- 5:21Speaker 1: will ever be together that much again, but 136 different countries.
- 5:26Speaker 3: No, that's one of the things I remember. You know,
- 5:28Speaker 3: I remember us doing a, at that point we were,
- 5:31Speaker 3: I think we were still Dick Broadcasting. We might've been
- 5:33Speaker 3: Cumulus or Citadel. I forgot. The radio changed so much,
- 5:38Speaker 3: but I remember us doing a huge fundraiser in the
- 5:40Speaker 3: Galleria parking lot. And I just remember how nice everyone
- 5:44Speaker 3: was that week to everyone. You know, humanity truly was.
- 5:48Speaker 3: was shining through. And it's unfortunate that it takes an
- 5:51Speaker 3: event like that, a catastrophic event, every 25 to 50
- 5:54Speaker 3: years to bring us together as a society. And we've
- 5:57Speaker 3: never been more divisive as we are right now.
- 6:00Speaker 1: It only took less than 25 years for it to
- 6:03Speaker 1: fall right back to probably worse than it was. That's
- 6:05Speaker 1: what former President George Bush said this week. We've really
- 6:09Speaker 1: almost forgotten some of the lessons we'd learned immediately after that.
- 6:13Speaker 1: For those on that event on September 11th, you were
- 6:15Speaker 1: talking about being at the Galleria. To Brown's point, gatherings
- 6:20Speaker 1: at malls. You thought to yourself, well, we'll never go
- 6:23Speaker 1: to a mall again because there should have that many
- 6:26Speaker 1: Americans in one place again.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Too big of a target.
- 6:28Speaker 1: We stopped sports for a very brief point of time.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Mets and Yankees will play tonight at Yankee Stadium. And
- 6:35Speaker 1: that was sort of the first sporting event. And the
- 6:38Speaker 1: president went out the first pitch, and they were like, okay,
- 6:42Speaker 1: we're going to keep going. We're going to gather as Americans,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and we're going to keep going. We're not going to
- 6:45Speaker 1: shut down. I mentioned to Brown yesterday. hey, should we
- 6:48Speaker 1: take tomorrow off just out of respect for 25 years ago?
- 6:54Speaker 1: And he was like, no, that's what they wanted to
- 6:57Speaker 1: try to do to us, to sort of disrupt our
- 6:59Speaker 1: daily lives. So let's go to work and let's work
- 7:02Speaker 1: through it. Well, again, not that we bust blocks. There
- 7:04Speaker 1: are a lot of people who do a lot harder
- 7:05Speaker 1: things than we do, but that's what we do as Americans.
- 7:08Speaker 1: We go to work every single day, and you ain't
- 7:09Speaker 1: going to stop that. And we're going to keep pushing
- 7:12Speaker 1: forward because we're an exceptional nation.
- 7:14Speaker 3: You know, I've told this story on the air a
- 7:16Speaker 3: couple of times, but I remember that whole 24 hours,
- 7:19Speaker 3: and I remember the night before. It was a Monday
- 7:20Speaker 3: night the night before, and I was driving to PT's
- 7:23Speaker 3: to do a Monday night football show. And I was
- 7:26Speaker 3: on the phone with Tom Jackson from ESPN.
- 7:28Speaker 1: You were talking to him on the phone?
- 7:30Speaker 3: I was talking to Tom Jackson on the phone. And
- 7:33Speaker 3: we had an interview set up with him because they
- 7:37Speaker 3: were doing Monday night football on the Giants and the Broncos,
- 7:40Speaker 3: they had just opened Invesco Field, which is now Empower
- 7:43Speaker 3: Field in Denver. It was the first ever game there
- 7:46Speaker 3: on Monday night. And all I could think, as you
- 7:49Speaker 3: really process the next day, you're just sitting there, you're thinking,
- 7:51Speaker 3: how in the hell, what's going on, what's happening next?
- 7:55Speaker 3: I just thought to myself, if they would have done
- 7:57Speaker 3: this last night at Invesco Field, our national pastime on
- 8:00Speaker 3: a Monday night, how devastating that really would have been.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I mean, it was obviously a devastating thing, but to
- 8:06Speaker 3: think about that could have been the target. And, uh,
- 8:09Speaker 3: I've just always thought about that. I've always thought. I've
- 8:12Speaker 3: always thought.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Because we lost 2,977 people on 9-11. Just look at
- 8:19Speaker 2: the sports stadiums every weekend. It has always been a
- 8:23Speaker 2: fear of mine. Not necessarily when I'm in a stadium,
- 8:26Speaker 2: but any time you see a sporting event like that.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Just for those that weren't around, in Birmingham, Alabama, which
- 8:36Speaker 2: if you're a terrorist organization... New York City, Chicago, L.A.,
- 8:40Speaker 2: San Francisco. There are other places that before you get
- 8:44Speaker 2: to Birmingham, Alabama, you probably were focusing. But in Birmingham,
- 8:47Speaker 2: and this was happening in every community around the country,
- 8:50Speaker 2: on September 12th, for weeks, months, 24-hour security police guards
- 8:59Speaker 2: around the water supply right there on Highway 280. I
- 9:03Speaker 2: can remember that for months and months and months. Extra
- 9:06Speaker 2: police at Galleria. in places like that. And that really
- 9:11Speaker 2: hasn't changed in New York City since 9-11. It's only
- 9:16Speaker 2: ramped up. But in Birmingham, we were guarding water supplies
- 9:20Speaker 2: because you didn't know what they were going to hit next.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Everything seemed to be so exposed at that point.
- 9:24Speaker 3: When I went to New York that month following, we
- 9:27Speaker 3: went to see the Rams, and we went to see
- 9:30Speaker 3: them play the Jets, and that was the trunk candidate game.
- 9:32Speaker 3: You guys probably don't remember that, but Marshall Falk was
- 9:34Speaker 3: out trunk candidate, went for like 200-plus yards. Yeah. But
- 9:37Speaker 3: I'll never forget sitting in the stands with Jets fans
- 9:41Speaker 3: a month after, and there was a plane that came
- 9:43Speaker 3: pretty close. And everybody's attention goes from the game to
- 9:47Speaker 3: that plane. And it was, you know, I'm still very,
- 9:51Speaker 3: very aware of surroundings all of the time. If I'm
- 9:56Speaker 3: in a movie theater, if I'm at a mall, and
- 9:58Speaker 3: it's probably overkill with appearances. but I just like to
- 10:02Speaker 3: be aware of the situation. It's because we lived through that. Yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And I just don't, I don't trust a lot. Like
- 10:07Speaker 3: at any time you talk about those chain of events,
- 10:10Speaker 3: you talk about JFK and you talk about Pearl Harbor
- 10:13Speaker 3: and you talk about nine 11. And fortunately it has
- 10:15Speaker 3: been 25 years, but you know, at any time one
- 10:18Speaker 3: of these events could go down.
- 10:20Speaker 2: But this was different because, you know, that was a
- 10:22Speaker 2: military attack at Pearl Harbor. It was an assassination attempt
- 10:26Speaker 2: on the president of the United States. This was different
- 10:29Speaker 2: because it was targeting everyday Americans. And it was a
- 10:36Speaker 2: direct hit of everyday Americans. But it was also so heroic.
- 10:39Speaker 1: You know, we'll do the red bandana game tonight at
- 10:42Speaker 1: Boston College. The heroes on the flight over Pennsylvania. It
- 10:48Speaker 1: was the plane that was heading to D.C. that overtook
- 10:52Speaker 1: the hijackers. And that one got forced to the ground
- 10:55Speaker 1: there and saved, cost many lives, but saved many more probably.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Yeah, if you go to the U.S.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Capitol, they're actually memorialized, those people, because they believe that
- 11:03Speaker 1: plane was headed to the Capitol. And there's actually a
- 11:05Speaker 1: memorial for those people inside the United States Capitol just
- 11:08Speaker 1: off the rotunda. It's actually really cool. But two things
- 11:10Speaker 1: I would say is, number one, when I say days
- 11:13Speaker 1: like December 7, 1942, Or June 6, 1944. People, those days,
- 11:21Speaker 1: like for the generations before us, oh, you'll never forget
- 11:24Speaker 1: those days. How often do you stop on Pearl Harbor
- 11:25Speaker 1: Day and remember Pearl Harbor Day?
- 11:26Speaker 3: You don't. How often do you stop on D-Day and
- 11:29Speaker 3: remember D-Day? You don't.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Probably more D-Day than Pearl Harbor. Yeah, but I mean,
- 11:33Speaker 1: but imagine if you were alive in the 1940s, you're like, oh,
- 11:35Speaker 1: this country will never forget Pearl Harbor Day.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Never forget D-Day.
- 11:38Speaker 1: We don't stop for that, and I don't know if
- 11:40Speaker 1: there will be a time where we just never stop
- 11:42Speaker 1: for September 9th.
- 11:43Speaker 3: We don't stop for it so much that it's actually 1941,
- 11:47Speaker 3: not 1942. Well, I mean, that was a little different, too,
- 11:52Speaker 3: because we have our 50th state, which is located in
- 11:56Speaker 3: the Pacific, which is close to Japan. So to have
- 12:00Speaker 3: our mainland attacked and our financial center, the cradle of financials,
- 12:05Speaker 3: You know, that was completely different, and it was something
- 12:08Speaker 3: we had never seen before.
- 12:08Speaker 1: That's one lesson we should take away from this. The
- 12:11Speaker 1: other lesson we should take away from this is what
- 12:14Speaker 1: you both have just said, is our country was never
- 12:16Speaker 1: more unified in our lifetime than that moment right there.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And what we have forgotten as a country— and I may
- 12:23Speaker 1: as well yell this at the wall probably here, but
- 12:25Speaker 1: what we've forgotten as a country is— When we were
- 12:29Speaker 1: unified at that moment, we didn't quit believing what we
- 12:32Speaker 1: believed that separated us. We just decided we're not going
- 12:34Speaker 1: to let that separate us. And that's what we've lost
- 12:37Speaker 1: sight of as a country. Unity does not mean you
- 12:40Speaker 1: all believe the same thing. Unity means you can believe
- 12:44Speaker 1: different things and come from different backgrounds, but you don't
- 12:46Speaker 1: let that separate you.
- 12:47Speaker 3: That's right.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And we're losing in our country the ability to disagree
- 12:52Speaker 1: with each other.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Why?
- 12:53Speaker 1: And that's what it is. Because if you disagree with me,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I disagree with you. you're a this, you're a that,
- 12:59Speaker 1: and I'm just going to put that label on you,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and there's no chance for unity.
- 13:03Speaker 3: This format has evolved from when we all did terrestrial
- 13:06Speaker 3: radio to where it is now, and a lot of
- 13:08Speaker 3: people doing digital. And collars were a much bigger part
- 13:11Speaker 3: back in the day, but that was the great thing
- 13:12Speaker 3: about this genre, was the disagreeing. And you could get
- 13:16Speaker 3: in these huge arguments, and it was just sports, and
- 13:19Speaker 3: people had their opinions, and you didn't necessarily hate somebody
- 13:21Speaker 3: for their opinion. One of the small things that I remember,
- 13:25Speaker 3: and I'm guilty of it now, was like the small
- 13:27Speaker 3: things didn't matter. Like there wasn't any road rage around 9-11.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Like I remember people letting people into traffic and waving.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Just small things.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I got flipped off pulling in my neighborhood yesterday because
- 13:37Speaker 1: a guy didn't like the way I did it. I mean,
- 13:39Speaker 1: it's just like, man, people are just so on edge
- 13:43Speaker 1: and pissed off about stuff.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Take time today, even if it's as simple as watching
- 13:50Speaker 2: the red bandana piece from ESPN. Tom Rinaldi, tremendous piece
- 13:58Speaker 2: and the hero of one man. And there were a
- 14:00Speaker 2: lot that day. Uh, I've seen so many pieces this
- 14:03Speaker 2: year that I've never seen before. Um, so last night, a,
- 14:08Speaker 2: you know, I, there's so much that, that, you know,
- 14:11Speaker 2: I don't know if I never wanted to absorb, but
- 14:14Speaker 2: like I saw the only female police officer that, that
- 14:18Speaker 2: went into the tower and lost her life, uh, her daughter,
- 14:21Speaker 2: I saw her being interviewed on this week. And they
- 14:24Speaker 2: actually were able to hear her last few radio calls.
- 14:28Speaker 2: The tower had collapsed on her. And she was calling
- 14:31Speaker 2: for help. What floor are you on? And I was
- 14:35Speaker 2: on three. I don't know where I am now.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I've fallen a long way. And she was like, my dad,
- 14:43Speaker 1: I came across this. My dad never wanted me to
- 14:45Speaker 1: hear it. And it's hard to hear still today. but
- 14:49Speaker 1: I think people should hear it. And they were playing
- 14:52Speaker 1: it in the edited part of the video. And then
- 14:55Speaker 1: I saw one girl that was saying her prayers to
- 15:00Speaker 1: her daddy, who was in heaven.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Who had lost his life.
- 15:04Speaker 2: And she's 25 years older now, and she's 28, 29.
- 15:07Speaker 2: She was posting, these are my simple prayers back then.
- 15:11Speaker 2: And it's fun to go back and see those simple
- 15:14Speaker 2: prayers that dad's probably going to work in heaven, and
- 15:17Speaker 2: I'm going to see him again someday.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Don't cry.
- 15:19Speaker 2: And that type of stuff. But one that got me
- 15:22Speaker 2: last night was two kids that were in the Pentagon daycare.
- 15:28Speaker 2: And I think, I want to say the number was
- 15:31Speaker 2: 400 kids in the Pentagon daycare that when they got attacked,
- 15:35Speaker 2: they came and, you know, we're pulling them out. Well,
- 15:39Speaker 2: these were two ladies that are running 2000. I'm trying
- 15:42Speaker 2: not to cry here. They both, because of that day
- 15:45Speaker 2: joined the U S military. And so they're both serving now.
- 15:50Speaker 2: And they're running two thousand nine hundred and seventy seven
- 15:53Speaker 2: miles this year.
- 15:55Speaker 1: And every mile they dedicate to one of the people
- 15:58Speaker 1: who lost their lives. And so you see them on
- 16:00Speaker 1: social media. This mile today is for they read one
- 16:03Speaker 1: of the victims. And just really.
- 16:05Speaker 3: That was the thing about the Oklahoma City bombings is
- 16:08Speaker 3: that daycare that was in the bottom of the federal building. Like,
- 16:12Speaker 3: I mean, and that shows you, like, how wicked. The
- 16:15Speaker 3: depravity of the human condition. There are some out there.
- 16:19Speaker 3: It's pretty amazing. But, yeah, I mean, hats off and
- 16:22Speaker 3: everybody that, you know, has some kind of void in
- 16:24Speaker 3: their life based on what happened 25 years ago. You know,
- 16:28Speaker 3: we're never going to forget. But, you know, we lived
- 16:30Speaker 3: through it. And if you didn't live through it, you know,
- 16:33Speaker 3: hopefully we can get to a better place as a
- 16:36Speaker 3: society in general. Yeah. All right, that's our opening segment.
- 16:40Speaker 1: We're out of respect, going to pause for a break here,
- 16:43Speaker 1: and then we'll come back and get into everything going
- 16:45Speaker 1: on in the sports world. This is the next round

- 17:36Speaker 3: Boy, your Rams sucked last night. They were bad. They
- 17:40Speaker 3: were really, really, really bad.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Don't try to ease into it, Lance.
- 17:45Speaker 3: I mean, it was... I wanted to lighten the mood
- 17:47Speaker 3: a little bit. Dick whipping down under, for sure. Boy,
- 17:50Speaker 3: it was. It was just so disappointing that... And by
- 17:56Speaker 3: the way, 0-20 is off the table now.
- 17:58Speaker 4: 20-0.
- 17:58Speaker 3: 20-0. 20 may start Sunday. No, 0-20 is not in play.
- 18:05Speaker 3: 0-17 is in play right now. 20-0, let's get that
- 18:11Speaker 3: out of the way. I really believe everybody enjoyed watching
- 18:15Speaker 3: that last night, if you're not a Rams fan. I
- 18:17Speaker 3: think the entire NFL, when people are saying the Rams
- 18:20Speaker 3: are the field, you can't say that. It's a dumb conversation.
- 18:23Speaker 3: And I know you guys, when I gave, did you
- 18:26Speaker 3: throw out our Super Bowl? We did.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 3: And I didn't do that for a fact. I really
- 18:30Speaker 3: don't think the Rams are going to win the Super Bowl.
- 18:31Speaker 3: It's easy to say now. But I've got the Chargers
- 18:34Speaker 3: over the Lions. I think the Rams are going to
- 18:36Speaker 3: be really good this year, or at least I thought
- 18:38Speaker 3: they were going to be really good. san francisco is
- 18:41Speaker 3: really good and that's kind of the kryptonite we did
- 18:43Speaker 3: our um we are ramley ram show we're gonna do
- 18:46Speaker 3: that every thursday night and when i was doing this
- 18:48Speaker 3: last night i was just going through the numbers like
- 18:50Speaker 3: kyle shanahan is the best coach in the nfl that
- 18:53Speaker 3: is yet to win a super bowl he dominates sean
- 18:56Speaker 3: mcveigh i think sean mcveigh is the best coach in
- 18:58Speaker 3: the league but kyle shanahan's got his number.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Okay can i can i play this real quick brownie
- 19:04Speaker 2: and because this is a talking point and then i
- 19:06Speaker 2: want to move on to all this other stuff but
- 19:08Speaker 2: Travel plans was a talking point.
- 19:11Speaker 1: So many people were like, they look slow, they look tired,
- 19:14Speaker 1: they look... So it's exactly what I was about to
- 19:16Speaker 1: say before you played this.
- 19:17Speaker 2: So here's McVay, and then follow up with your thoughts.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Here's Sean McVay last night.
- 19:22Speaker 5: I don't believe that that's why we didn't play well enough.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I really don't. Listen, I'm more than comfortable with that.
- 19:32Speaker 5: That's something that I'll always make decisions that I think
- 19:34Speaker 5: are best for the football team. It's easy in hindsight
- 19:36Speaker 5: to be able to say it was a miss, but
- 19:39Speaker 5: those are responsibilities that I'll take and then you try
- 19:43Speaker 5: to be able to look at it. I'll always look
- 19:44Speaker 5: at myself inside out and figure out where I can improve. Gary,
- 19:48Speaker 5: today was really just not good enough in terms of
- 19:51Speaker 5: feeling the flow of the game being able to give
- 19:53Speaker 5: ourselves an opportunity to snatch some momentum when there was
- 19:55Speaker 5: opportunities didn't think we communicated very well on both sides
- 20:00Speaker 5: of the football we obviously weren't very efficient in the
- 20:02Speaker 5: kicking game either and so They outplayed us in every phase.
- 20:05Speaker 3: They deserve the win.
- 20:06Speaker 5: I think that's really what it boils down to. And
- 20:08Speaker 5: sometimes sports can have days like that. And like I said,
- 20:12Speaker 5: this will only define us if we allow it to.
- 20:14Speaker 5: And I'm looking forward to leaning in, going back to work.
- 20:17Speaker 5: And today was humbling, but sometimes life can do that
- 20:19Speaker 5: to you.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Well, he's too good of a coach to blame travel
- 20:23Speaker 1: or the NFL playing a stupid game in Australia. He's
- 20:25Speaker 1: too good of a coach to do that. And that's
- 20:27Speaker 1: why he wouldn't. But watching the game, Lance, as just
- 20:31Speaker 1: a neutral observer... it looked like one team was coming off,
- 20:36Speaker 1: they were playing a home game coming off a bye,
- 20:38Speaker 1: and one team was playing game five of a five-game stretch.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I mean, that's what it looked like last night.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Well, I said whoever wins, whether it's by one or 20,
- 20:46Speaker 3: the overreaction is going to be who did travel right.
- 20:49Speaker 3: San Francisco there eight days, Rams there 28 hours.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It's really hard to argue it with a 20-point outcome.
- 20:55Speaker 1: But real quickly on that, I believe Sean McVay– made
- 20:59Speaker 1: that decision not about game one.
- 21:02Speaker 3: You're right. He made it about game two, three, four, five.
- 21:04Speaker 3: That's what I was about to say. Now we're going
- 21:05Speaker 3: to know over the next month who really made the
- 21:08Speaker 3: right decision. Now the Rams schedule is much more difficult
- 21:11Speaker 3: than San Francisco's this first month. Because you know who
- 21:13Speaker 3: San Francisco gets to bounce back against? Arizona, right? No, Miami. Miami.
- 21:17Speaker 1: They get to play the Dolphins. That's a gimme. That's
- 21:20Speaker 1: no shot, but that helps tremendously.
- 21:21Speaker 3: It's true.
- 21:22Speaker 1: But if they come back and look the way... and
- 21:25Speaker 1: I don't know if it.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Had to do with travel, but if they looked sluggish
- 21:28Speaker 2: like the Rams did, I mean, let's just look at this.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I thought Stafford looked a little stiff. I'm not going
- 21:32Speaker 2: to say he looked old.
- 21:34Speaker 3: He looked old. He did. And, you know, the footwork
- 21:36Speaker 3: was weird in the pocket. There was a lot going
- 21:38Speaker 3: on with Stafford last night that you just didn't like.
- 21:41Speaker 1: A couple of high throws early on.
- 21:43Speaker 3: The only positives I could see is the Rams' ability
- 21:46Speaker 3: to run the football, especially– you know, between the tackles.
- 21:50Speaker 3: And then I thought Trent McDuffie was really good. Jalen Watson,
- 21:53Speaker 3: the other cornerback, he got picked on a little bit.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I thought McDuffie was good, their ability to run the football.
- 21:58Speaker 3: That's really the only things I.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Can say about that.
- 22:01Speaker 2: But Miles Garrett, I mean, he looked like he was
- 22:03Speaker 2: checking and tapping out.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I saw him standing.
- 22:05Speaker 2: They showed him more on the sidelines than I noticed
- 22:08Speaker 2: him on the field. And I want to ask you this.
- 22:11Speaker 3: By the way, Puka Nakua had more tackles than Miles Garrett.
- 22:15Speaker 1: That is a fact.
- 22:17Speaker 3: It's an insane stat. And I told everybody we would
- 22:22Speaker 3: do this.
- 22:22Speaker 2: The first segment would be about the Rams, but I mean,
- 22:24Speaker 2: it's such a big opening game between two playoff contenders.
- 22:28Speaker 2: I just, I, the way people now attack the preseason,
- 22:35Speaker 2: it's why we should do away with the preseason because
- 22:38Speaker 2: most of these guys aren't playing in the preseason anyway.
- 22:41Speaker 2: So these week one games that count, are basically their
- 22:44Speaker 2: first time playing, and it looked like it. In these
- 22:47Speaker 2: first two games I've seen in the NFL, it has
- 22:50Speaker 2: looked like not the highest caliber of football like the
- 22:54Speaker 2: NFL should be, and that's why they have the preseason.
- 22:57Speaker 2: That's why when they originally started having preseasons, it was
- 23:00Speaker 2: when you got to the games that mattered, the best
- 23:02Speaker 2: players in the world were playing at their best. Well,
- 23:04Speaker 2: now the best players in the world, they don't play
- 23:06Speaker 2: preseason games, so they're playing their first real snaps. in
- 23:10Speaker 2: these first games, and it's sloppy football.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Well, some coaches do it differently. McVay never plays his starters,
- 23:15Speaker 3: and Maddie was asking me last night, so this is
- 23:17Speaker 3: the first time they've been on the field, and I
- 23:19Speaker 3: was like, there's a lot of joint practices, and they're
- 23:21Speaker 3: getting a lot of reps, and they're ones versus ones.
- 23:23Speaker 3: I was like, but yeah, this is the first time,
- 23:26Speaker 3: and look, they look sluggish. Again, I give San Francisco
- 23:29Speaker 3: all the credit. Just real quick, McVay, 6-14 versus San
- 23:33Speaker 3: Francisco in his career.
- 23:34Speaker 6: 6-14.
- 23:34Speaker 3: He is an elite coach. If that was a If
- 23:41Speaker 3: that was a coach against top 25 teams, we'd dog
- 23:43Speaker 3: his ass out. McVay's got the hardware, though. You can't
- 23:46Speaker 3: deny he's one of the best coaches. He's James Franklin
- 23:49Speaker 3: against the 49ers, isn't he? And then Matthew Stafford is
- 23:52Speaker 3: 4-10 against San Francisco. That combination of greatness just can't
- 23:57Speaker 3: play well against San Francisco.
- 23:59Speaker 1: That play call after dinking it, dinking it, dinking it,
- 24:03Speaker 1: dinking it, go over the top, wide open for the
- 24:06Speaker 1: touchdown there in the first half, that was– That was
- 24:09Speaker 1: just a perfectly timed deep throw to a wide-open receiver.
- 24:13Speaker 3: And I think this is what San Francisco is going
- 24:16Speaker 3: to be really good if they can stay healthy. That
- 24:17Speaker 3: was the problem. They were not healthy last year. When
- 24:20Speaker 3: you looked at the injuries and it showed games missed,
- 24:22Speaker 3: you know, Bosa missed 16 last year. I think McCaffrey
- 24:25Speaker 3: missed seven. They still won 12 games. They still won
- 24:27Speaker 3: a playoff game. Now what you're going to have is
- 24:30Speaker 3: a combination of Kalen Black, the rookie out of Indiana,
- 24:33Speaker 3: and Christian McCaffrey running the football. And you've got possession
- 24:36Speaker 3: receivers now with Debo and Mike Evans. and the dink
- 24:39Speaker 3: and dunk from Brock Purdy not making mistakes and the
- 24:42Speaker 3: way they play defense, San Francisco is going to be really,
- 24:45Speaker 3: really good this year.
- 24:45Speaker 1: They are. I mean, they've got what you could argue
- 24:48Speaker 1: is the best defender in the NFL. Now, I know
- 24:50Speaker 1: y'all got a lot of them.
- 24:52Speaker 3: When he stays healthy. You're talking about Fred Warner. Fred Warner.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I mean, you could argue that's the best. I mean,
- 24:57Speaker 1: he made the play on the goal line there that
- 24:59Speaker 1: really sealed the win for San Francisco. When y'all didn't
- 25:02Speaker 1: get in right there, it was over.
- 25:03Speaker 3: I knew. How can you tell if he's in or not?
- 25:06Speaker 1: Well, you can't, but that's the danger on QB sneak
- 25:08Speaker 1: on fourth. down like review is not going to bail
- 25:10Speaker 1: you out.
- 25:11Speaker 3: But i'll tell you i thought initially he was in
- 25:13Speaker 3: watching the live snap but then when they showed the
- 25:15Speaker 3: replay i don't think he got it i don't think
- 25:17Speaker 3: he got in though yeah because it looked like the
- 25:19Speaker 3: ball was on the wrong side obviously the plane i really.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Thought puka got in on third down but then when
- 25:24Speaker 1: they showed that opposite angle replay the ref did a
- 25:26Speaker 1: tremendous job spotting that short i mean that was short
- 25:29Speaker 1: but let me ask you how can we not have
- 25:31Speaker 1: the technology With the.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Chip and the ball. Chip and the ball. Nobody's going
- 25:34Speaker 3: to believe it. I thought we had that. Yeah, but
- 25:36Speaker 3: here's the problem. We got it only for the first down? No, no, no, no, no.
- 25:38Speaker 3: We got it in soccer, right?
- 25:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:39Speaker 3: We got it in football. That's how they do the
- 25:41Speaker 3: first downs now.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Here's the problem with chip and the ball on that play, okay?
- 25:46Speaker 1: Stafford goes in the pile. loses footing knee hits and
- 25:51Speaker 1: then he reaches the ball out yeah so that's why
- 25:53Speaker 1: you can't use chip in the ball to play like
- 25:54Speaker 1: you're right well i mean it would be the same
- 25:56Speaker 1: thing on first down i guess you could see that
- 25:57Speaker 1: you could see.
- 25:58Speaker 3: The knee down on first down yeah that pile up
- 26:00Speaker 3: once it's ruled one way it ain't going back the
- 26:02Speaker 3: other way chip in the ball is going to be
- 26:04Speaker 3: really really tough i said on the broadcast last night
- 26:06Speaker 3: that i thought the rams i was like i'm just
- 26:08Speaker 3: gonna it's so difficult to beat san francisco i think
- 26:10Speaker 3: they win by one or two um i should have
- 26:13Speaker 3: given out san francisco plus the points i knew it
- 26:15Speaker 3: i've known it for months that san francisco was going
- 26:17Speaker 3: to cover this game i only played the over And
- 26:20Speaker 3: when they didn't get in there, and then San Francisco goes–
- 26:22Speaker 3: because if they get in there, it's 17-14, and you have– I.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Think you win the game, actually.
- 26:26Speaker 3: I think it's going to be an incredible finish, and
- 26:28Speaker 3: I think it flies over the total and everything. But
- 26:31Speaker 3: you don't get in on the puka, which I initially
- 26:33Speaker 3: thought that was a touchdown. Then the Stafford sneak, which
- 26:36Speaker 3: was really stupid. You've got– five tight ends on this
- 26:39Speaker 3: roster get one of them to learn how to do
- 26:42Speaker 3: under center taking that and doing the uh the the
- 26:46Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it the philadelphia thing yeah
- 26:48Speaker 3: one of them played quarterback in high school i'm sure
- 26:50Speaker 3: matt stafford now oh of three on quarterback sneaks over
- 26:52Speaker 3: the last two years there's a trend yeah uh but
- 26:55Speaker 3: with all that said man i just uh so so
- 26:58Speaker 3: freaking frustrating I can tell.
- 27:00Speaker 2: That's one of 17. That's 12 good minutes on the
- 27:03Speaker 2: Rams there. The weekend's got some more good games. I mean,
- 27:07Speaker 2: if you haven't had enough already, maybe an AFC championship
- 27:11Speaker 2: game preview with the Texans and Bills. Texans and Bills
- 27:15Speaker 2: at noon on CBS. Cowboys and Giants playoff implications in
- 27:20Speaker 2: week one on Sunday night football. And injuries are storyline
- 27:25Speaker 2: already all.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Over football, including Forrester. Cover your ears.
- 27:30Speaker 1: He can't be surprised.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Tua Tungvaluwa with a bleak injury right now may not
- 27:36Speaker 2: play in week one.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Getting woke out of the refrigerator? Scott, I assume you've
- 27:39Speaker 3: seen the video, right? I did. I haven't seen this.
- 27:42Speaker 1: He makes a glance. It's a five-yard pass, maybe? I mean,
- 27:47Speaker 1: it's not like he was heaving a Hail Mary. He
- 27:48Speaker 1: just throws it and then crumbles to the ground. I mean... Yep.
- 27:52Speaker 3: So.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Well, Scott... This is what you're dealing with. I'll go
- 27:55Speaker 1: ahead and tell you I've lived this. I've lived this.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Malik, neighbors may not play for the Giants in that
- 27:59Speaker 2: Cowboys game, and Bowers is out for the Raiders. Injury
- 28:03Speaker 2: is just a big part of the NFL as we
- 28:07Speaker 2: get into week one. We'll do our college football headlines
- 28:11Speaker 2: right here before we do that and sort of project
- 28:14Speaker 2: what we're all going to be talking about after this
- 28:17Speaker 2: weekend's college football games, and then we'll get into some
- 28:19Speaker 2: X's and O's of the big games the rest of
- 28:22Speaker 2: the show. But the show being brought to you by

- 29:28Speaker 1: Tyler, we're doing headlines right here, and LT will start
- 29:30Speaker 1: us off.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Let's see Lance's. I'm going to take you out to Austin,
- 29:34Speaker 3: Texas for the big game. The Buckeye Bi-Weekly. Cursed are
- 29:38Speaker 3: those who trust in Manning. Arch still foggy. It's all
- 29:42Speaker 3: Jeremiah as Buckeyes downhorns. 17-5.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Very biblical.
- 29:47Speaker 3: If you want to explain this, I went F-bomb last
- 29:51Speaker 3: week with Wayne Kiffin, and I was dead on. They
- 29:53Speaker 3: did wear him out. What are we doing here?
- 29:56Speaker 1: Well, we're doing a verse from the great prophet Jeremiah, right?
- 29:59Speaker 1: Cursed are those who trust in man and not in God.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Very, very good. Now, 17-5 is a weird score, Lance.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Why would you go with that score? Well, it's Jeremiah 17-5.
- 30:07Speaker 6: Ah!
- 30:09Speaker 3: Very nice. Tough score. You get the arch still foggy
- 30:13Speaker 3: after falling in the fog machine?
- 30:14Speaker 1: I like that part.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I didn't even actually.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 3: We've got to explain some of this. What are our
- 30:18Speaker 3: secondary headlines there, Tyler? So secondary headline is LSU plan thwarted.
- 30:23Speaker 4: Kiffin, quote, I would have gotten away with it if
- 30:26Speaker 4: it weren't for you meddling kids.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Old school.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I like it.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Trying to get those NFL players in there. Not exposed.
- 30:34Speaker 3: They're still in the SEC. What a waste of all
- 30:37Speaker 3: of our breaths talking about that bullshit for weeks.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Here are mine this week. We're just doing early headlines.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Fifty Shades of Lane. fans prepare for LSU trip back
- 30:51Speaker 2: to Oxford.
- 30:52Speaker 1: She has become popular, Jim.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Okay, one, both, or none following that girl, Dunaway and
- 30:57Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin? There's one. I'm not yet. I bet Lane is,
- 31:04Speaker 3: but I didn't find her page to pull a picture.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Is she a student? She can't be a student. I
- 31:09Speaker 3: think she's older than that. Yeah, she looks 25 to 30.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Raising cane, Miami stealing everything from Louisiana.
- 31:16Speaker 1: 2019 LSU, most points scored in a season, 726.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Right now, Miami, after last night's win. on pace to
- 31:28Speaker 2: break the 733 mark.
- 31:30Speaker 3: And they shut it down in the fourth quarter. They
- 31:31Speaker 3: scored 77.
- 31:32Speaker 1: And played a running clock, basically.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Our boy Fitzsimmons. You've got to wear the ESPN collared
- 31:37Speaker 3: shirt in those conditions. You can't go tie and button
- 31:41Speaker 3: up in that. I pulled the schedule again for Miami.
- 31:44Speaker 3: I mean, this is going to continue. They don't have
- 31:47Speaker 3: a degree of difficulty until we get to November in
- 31:49Speaker 3: South Bend. They are going to roll.
- 31:52Speaker 1: One ranked team right now in their schedule, and they're
- 31:54Speaker 1: beating everybody and playing good football during it. And my
- 31:57Speaker 1: other one is Stein, the new coach at Kentucky. I
- 32:02Speaker 1: want you to go to the game and scream up synergies.
- 32:04Speaker 2: And then a few hours later, probably after hearing from
- 32:07Speaker 2: Greg Sankey, my bad, everybody be nice inside the stadium.
- 32:11Speaker 3: We'll jump into what he said. And his tweet.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Last night, how he does the old 180 is the
- 32:19Speaker 1: complete turnaround, right? He did the old 180 yesterday in
- 32:24Speaker 1: the course of about 24 hours. Those two Browns headlines,
- 32:27Speaker 1: way too early headlines. We're going to go to the
- 32:29Speaker 1: Ann Arbor Independent for mine. Michigan begs the Big Ten
- 32:34Speaker 1: to take time off the clock. Sooners pound the Wolverines.
- 32:39Speaker 1: My alternate, page two. McVay admits the Rams accidentally left
- 32:43Speaker 1: offense in the car at the airport.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Boy, don't you hate it when you leave something. Pick
- 32:47Speaker 3: it up when you get back.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Don't you hate it when you leave something in the
- 32:49Speaker 1: car at the airport. And then on page three, Dabo
- 32:53Speaker 1: Swinney tells Chappell it is okay to go ahead and
- 32:55Speaker 1: evaluate the Miami Dolphins roster.
- 32:58Speaker 3: That one's pretty obvious. Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 1: They give them 60 more games, but Chappell, go ahead
- 33:03Speaker 1: and evaluate that one.
- 33:04Speaker 3: You go ahead and look at that one, Chappell.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Those are our early headlines. We do them every week
- 33:08Speaker 2: for what's coming up. If you're wondering about Will Stein,
- 33:12Speaker 2: this is Kentucky's new coach. Alabama goes to play Kentucky.
- 33:16Speaker 2: This is one of the great media outlets in America,
- 33:19Speaker 2: Kentucky Sports Radio. And Matt Jones and his team do
- 33:23Speaker 2: such a good job. Here is the Kentucky coach on
- 33:27Speaker 2: Kentucky Sports Radio. This was the day before yesterday, I believe, right, Forrest?
- 33:33Speaker 2: Because yesterday, Will Stein had a different tone. Here's what
- 33:36Speaker 2: he was telling Kentucky fans who all listened to this outlet.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Speaker 0 1.
- 33:40Speaker 4: I'm so thankful for the turnout last week. I know
- 33:42Speaker 4: they were brave in the heat and you know, they're allowed,
- 33:45Speaker 4: they're proud, but this weekend has gotta be different. We
- 33:48Speaker 4: gotta be on our a game. We gotta be there.
- 33:49Speaker 4: We gotta be there early. We gotta be in the
- 33:51Speaker 4: stands early. We gotta be in there during pregame warmups,
- 33:54Speaker 4: Pat Kroger field. And then when the kickoff happens, it
- 33:58Speaker 4: needs to be the loudest 65,000 group of people in
- 34:01Speaker 4: the history of the world.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Speaker 2 0 1.
- 34:04Speaker 7: Speaker 0 1 Now I've had some people say to me, look,
- 34:08Speaker 7: I love tailgating. I wait, you know, why do we
- 34:11Speaker 7: have 45 minutes before the game? I even had one
- 34:14Speaker 7: of the diehards. I'm going to call him out worldwide.
- 34:16Speaker 7: Todd Harris said, I love tailgating too much. I'm going
- 34:19Speaker 7: to come in 10 minutes before we'll tell him that
- 34:22Speaker 7: can't happen.
- 34:24Speaker 4: No, I want him in there 45 to 30 minutes before,
- 34:26Speaker 4: in his seat, standing up, screaming obscenities at our opponent,
- 34:31Speaker 4: making him feel very unwanted in Kroger Field.
- 34:34Speaker 7: Now, can we get the rich people that sit in
- 34:37Speaker 7: those loge seats?
- 34:38Speaker 3: A lot of them like to be back there in
- 34:40Speaker 3: the bar.
- 34:41Speaker 7: This is why I'm not trying to ruin the liquor sales,
- 34:43Speaker 7: but they need to get the drink and come back
- 34:45Speaker 7: to their seat, don't they, Will? Sometimes those seats right
- 34:48Speaker 7: behind you guys can be empty because.
- 34:50Speaker 4: Everybody's in the bar sneak a flask in sneak a
- 34:53Speaker 4: flask in the game do whatever you gotta do right
- 34:56Speaker 4: get it get your drinks ready sit in your chair
- 34:58Speaker 4: all right and start cheering and then once you're done
- 35:01Speaker 4: with the drink go back in as fast as you
- 35:02Speaker 4: can and come right.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Back out so uh laughing through it all but the
- 35:07Speaker 2: screaming obscenities that the are the opponent may have been
- 35:11Speaker 2: the one that changed his uh tweet last night will
- 35:14Speaker 2: stein last night can't wait for saturday We need our
- 35:17Speaker 2: fans to bring the energy and make a difference for
- 35:20Speaker 2: our team.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Come ready to have a great time. Be loud and
- 35:23Speaker 1: enjoy the day. Be respectful of everyone in the stadium.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Be respectful of everyone in the stadium. There are plenty
- 35:31Speaker 1: of options to enjoy responsibly inside Kroger Field.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Breathe the noise.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Let's have some fun.
- 35:37Speaker 3: See you Saturday. Go Cats. You think word came from somebody?
- 35:41Speaker 6: Yep.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I would imagine maybe not the SEC office, but maybe Kentucky,
- 35:45Speaker 2: but maybe the SEC office about sportsmanship and all that.
- 35:48Speaker 3: I had no problem with it.
- 35:49Speaker 1: I don't think Alabama gives a shit.
- 35:51Speaker 3: They're used to it.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I said on the show yesterday, listen, if you're going
- 35:55Speaker 2: to yell at the Alabama players, don't be surprised if
- 35:59Speaker 2: they yell back at you.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Be a grown adult. Do they not sell? Do they
- 36:04Speaker 3: not pour in Kroger? I don't know if they do.
- 36:07Speaker 3: I don't know. Because, you know, he was saying sneak in.
- 36:09Speaker 1: He was talking about the people, the rich people that
- 36:12Speaker 1: go underneath and they stay there getting their drinks.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Or up in the suites and get their drinks. They
- 36:17Speaker 3: have to, sir. Too much money.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Limit of two drinks per transaction and sales ending at
- 36:22Speaker 1: the third quarter. They may extend fourth quarter tomorrow. I
- 36:25Speaker 1: hope the.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Game's over in the third quarter. By the way, we're
- 36:28Speaker 3: going to be serving here in two hours.
- 36:29Speaker 1: All right.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Yellow Hammer's on set.
- 36:31Speaker 7: Okay.
- 36:31Speaker 3: All right.
- 36:32Speaker 1: I like that. He clearly was kidding, but it wouldn't
- 36:35Speaker 1: surprise me if the athletic director of Kentucky walks up
- 36:40Speaker 1: to him and says, that's our guy right now, Jay Batt.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Didn't he take a Kentucky job?
- 36:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 1: If Jay Batt comes up to him and says, Coach, no,
- 36:46Speaker 1: you're kidding there. The whole screaming obscenities thing. But what
- 36:51Speaker 1: Alabama fans, you said Alabama fans don't care what they
- 36:53Speaker 1: were laughing at at that. Loud 65,000 people like Tiger Stadium,
- 36:58Speaker 1: Jordan-Hare Stadium, Neyland Stadium.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Florida Field.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Florida Field. Daryl K.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Royal. College Station. 65,000 screaming fans. Ain't going to impact
- 37:08Speaker 3: the game. No, but I believe.
- 37:09Speaker 1: The places you have to play in the SEC.
- 37:11Speaker 3: I know, Dunaway, you've been to more games up there. Brown,
- 37:13Speaker 3: I don't know if you've ever been to one.
- 37:14Speaker 1: I've been to one game at what is now Kroger Field.
- 37:16Speaker 1: It was Commonwealth Stadium then, and it was a great atmosphere.
- 37:18Speaker 3: I went to one. It was okay, but it was
- 37:21Speaker 3: when Kentucky was... It was kind of in that... It
- 37:24Speaker 3: was before Joker Phillips. It might have been Rich Brooks.
- 37:27Speaker 3: It might have been Joker. I don't know. But anyway,
- 37:29Speaker 3: it wasn't a great crowd. But I would think that
- 37:31Speaker 3: this crowd is going to be– this crowd will be
- 37:33Speaker 3: hyped up. They will be. Yeah, with a new coach.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I was on a couple outlets, and they're fired up.
- 37:39Speaker 3: A lot of hope was the word that kept going.
- 37:41Speaker 1: A lot of hope that we can become good at
- 37:45Speaker 1: football here at Kentucky like other schools have around the country,
- 37:49Speaker 1: as you would imagine, if they can do it at Indiana.
- 37:51Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Right across the Ohio River. Why can we not do
- 37:56Speaker 2: it here in Kentucky? So it's Alabama at Kentucky. A
- 38:00Speaker 2: lot of people around the country have circled this game
- 38:03Speaker 2: as an upset alert game. I don't know why this
- 38:07Speaker 2: is the case, but they have circled it as upset alert.
- 38:09Speaker 1: I can tell you, I read a little blurb today,
- 38:12Speaker 1: how bad Kalen DeBoer teams are against the spread on
- 38:16Speaker 1: the road. Now, that's not necessarily one loss. Lance gave
- 38:20Speaker 1: you the one loss the other day. What's it, four
- 38:22Speaker 1: road losses in two years, right?
- 38:24Speaker 3: Yeah, 7-4 through road games.
- 38:25Speaker 1: But against the spread, and that's what you're talking about.
- 38:28Speaker 1: A lot of people are trying to find some sort
- 38:29Speaker 1: of angle to make a pick here.
- 38:31Speaker 3: It's a big number. I gave you guys out that
- 38:33Speaker 3: super tease earlier this week, but if you can look
- 38:36Speaker 3: at Alabama... virtually a pick against Kentucky. Ten and a
- 38:39Speaker 3: half is the last number I saw. That's a big
- 38:42Speaker 3: number on the road in the SEC. We're in a
- 38:44Speaker 3: different world now. Old Alabama, Nick Saban, they would have
- 38:47Speaker 3: gone out and they'd be up 28-3 at halftime.
- 38:50Speaker 1: This would be a kick in the teeth and the
- 38:53Speaker 1: fans would be able to drink all they wanted because
- 38:54Speaker 1: they'd be back at the tailgate.
- 38:55Speaker 3: You guys would be more surprised if Alabama's up 28
- 38:59Speaker 3: at half than this being a one possession game in
- 39:01Speaker 3: the fourth quarter. Oh, absolutely.
- 39:03Speaker 1: If Alabama's up 28 at the half, now It's going
- 39:06Speaker 1: to get flushed, but I'm going to go ahead and
- 39:07Speaker 1: say it on the front end before people flush it.
- 39:09Speaker 1: It's going to get flushed as, oh, same old Kentucky.
- 39:12Speaker 1: We thought Kentucky was good. Like, Alabama's up 28 at half.
- 39:15Speaker 1: You can't have it both ways because going into this game,
- 39:18Speaker 1: everybody's like, this is a tough spot for Alabama. Tough
- 39:20Speaker 1: spot for Alabama. Veteran quarterback. Not a lot of seat time,
- 39:23Speaker 1: but he's been to the game long. Kenny Menchie. Will Stein.
- 39:25Speaker 3: All these teams. Great play caller. He's changed the talent level.
- 39:28Speaker 1: 65,000 screaming fans with a flash. If Alabama's up 28
- 39:33Speaker 1: at the half, that is impressive. And give them some flowers.
- 39:36Speaker 1: 27-17 is my bill in the game. Alabama 27-7. Low scoring,
- 39:40Speaker 1: low scoring.
- 39:41Speaker 2: And that's probably because I worked in Lexington two years,
- 39:45Speaker 2: so I went to too many games at Commonwealth Stadium.
- 39:49Speaker 2: and it always seemed like there was not a lot
- 39:51Speaker 2: of offense.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Who was your coach?
- 39:53Speaker 3: A guy named Bill Curry.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 39:55Speaker 3: He followed you to Bama, didn't he? Yeah, I followed
- 39:57Speaker 3: him to Kentucky.
- 39:58Speaker 1: He followed him to Kentucky?
- 40:00Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 40:00Speaker 1: He got the job first at Kentucky. You had to
- 40:03Speaker 1: cover that guy for five straight years. That must have
- 40:04Speaker 1: been miserable. Then I showed up at the news conference.
- 40:06Speaker 1: He was like, what are you doing here? He was like,
- 40:09Speaker 1: I work here now. He was like, me too. All right,
- 40:14Speaker 1: when we come back, the other big games in college football.
- 40:18Speaker 1: as we work towards a week two, it continues tonight.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Oh, we'll talk Missouri, Kansas. When we come back. How
- 40:24Speaker 3: about that? Tonight's game, Missouri, Kansas.
- 40:27Speaker 1: This is the next round presented by hard rock bets
- 40:29Speaker 1: on sport and state back with you on the next
- 40:32Speaker 1: round presented by hard rock bets on sport and state.
- 40:35Speaker 1: We've done our headlines.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Todd Furman will join us from Vegas coming up at
- 40:39Speaker 2: the top of the hour to talk about some of
- 40:41Speaker 2: the great plays. We do upset alerts on Tuesday on
- 40:44Speaker 2: the show. My upset alert this week is San Diego
- 40:47Speaker 2: State against UCLA. Sean Lewis is the coach of San
- 40:52Speaker 2: Diego State. I want you to listen to Sean Lewis
- 40:56Speaker 2: yesterday and I picked this long before I heard this
- 41:00Speaker 2: sound bite from Sean Lewis. You tell me if I
- 41:03Speaker 2: may be on the right side of this game this weekend.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Here's Sean Lewis.
- 41:08Speaker 6: Put the ball down. I'll play anyone, anytime, anywhere. Our
- 41:11Speaker 6: Aztec standard is built for championship behavior. It's built for
- 41:14Speaker 6: these opportunities and It happens to be the Bruins on
- 41:16Speaker 6: that sideline. And I'm not. Coach Chesney, he's been a
- 41:20Speaker 6: head coach almost as long as I've been coaching. He's
- 41:22Speaker 6: done a tremendous job. And we'll give them all the
- 41:25Speaker 6: due respect and all those things, right? But at the
- 41:28Speaker 6: end of the day, it's got nothing to do with them.
- 41:31Speaker 6: It's got nothing to do with them. It has everything
- 41:33Speaker 6: to do with our standard, our process, how we go
- 41:36Speaker 6: about it. The Aztecs are responsible for the Aztecs. And
- 41:39Speaker 6: I'm going to respect who that opponent is, but I've
- 41:41Speaker 6: got plenty of experience where There's a galaxy of stars
- 41:44Speaker 6: and talents on the other sideline, and I'll take me
- 41:47Speaker 6: and mine against them. All their polos, all their khakis,
- 41:49Speaker 6: all their resources, all that. Put the ball down.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Let's go play.
- 41:53Speaker 1: All their polos and all their khakis and all their resources.
- 41:57Speaker 3: He's talking about UCLA.
- 41:58Speaker 1: They got no resources.
- 42:00Speaker 3: They're a bro-bro-bro. San Diego State's got the nicer stadium.
- 42:05Speaker 1: They're better off.
- 42:06Speaker 3: San Diego, by the way, if you go to the
- 42:08Speaker 3: city of San Diego compared to Los Angeles— day right
- 42:11Speaker 3: yeah you'll see the polos and the khakis probably in
- 42:14Speaker 3: san diego what's what's crazy freaking meathead doesn't know what
- 42:17Speaker 3: he's talking about what's crazy is i didn't know what
- 42:21Speaker 3: mall he was shopping at all of a sudden polos
- 42:24Speaker 3: and khakis is he dressing in 1999 he's rolling into
- 42:28Speaker 3: j crew i don't know resources i was very very
- 42:34Speaker 3: impressed with Kind of reminded me of Kirk Cignetti with
- 42:38Speaker 3: how Bob Chessie, and I said it was not going
- 42:40Speaker 3: to be, you know, Indiana 2.0 with a James Madison
- 42:43Speaker 3: coach having this kind of success. But I don't know
- 42:46Speaker 3: about you guys. I really was impressed with UCLA.
- 42:48Speaker 7: I was.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I was. It was an entertaining game, first of all,
- 42:50Speaker 1: but I felt they played a very good game at Cal.
- 42:52Speaker 3: I was impressed with Sean Lewis. He won last year,
- 42:55Speaker 3: winning nine games, San Diego State. They always seem prepared.
- 42:57Speaker 3: They seem really, really physical.
- 42:59Speaker 1: That's the Aztec standard, Lance.
- 43:00Speaker 3: I don't know if you heard that. Apparently, yeah. The
- 43:01Speaker 3: Aztec standard.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Ironically, UCLA played as a Big Ten team against an
- 43:06Speaker 1: ACC team at Cal Berkeley last week. They get a
- 43:09Speaker 1: home game as a Big Ten team against San Diego State,
- 43:11Speaker 1: a Pac-12 team now.
- 43:13Speaker 3: That's right. Very confusing.
- 43:13Speaker 2: And the confusing logos out there. Our friends at Perfect
- 43:16Speaker 2: 10 Mortgage as.
- 43:17Speaker 1: We get into tonight's game. The name says it all.
- 43:20Speaker 1: You apply in 10 minutes. You close in 10 days.

- 43:37Speaker 3: Good thing, too.

- 43:40Speaker 1: find out where you actually stand before you commit to anything. Again,
- 43:43Speaker 1: date the rate, marry the house. How many credit cards
- 43:45Speaker 1: are you juggling right now? Every month, you send in
- 43:48Speaker 1: the minimum payment. Balance barely moves. Interest eating you alive.
- 43:51Speaker 1: It does not have to stay that way. Perfect 10 Mortgage.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Where you may be able to use the equity you've

- 44:02Speaker 1: simpler monthly payment. One payment, one due date, a whole
- 44:04Speaker 1: lot less stress. That's straight talk. And that's what you
- 44:07Speaker 1: actually can qualify for at Perfect 10 Mortgage. Built for people,

- 44:32Speaker 1: of a more perfect mortgage.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Miami beat Florida A & M last night 77-7, and again, that.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Was the score after the third quarter. They actually shortened
- 44:41Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. The Florida A & M coach asked
- 44:44Speaker 1: the Miami staff, can we shorten the fourth quarter?
- 44:47Speaker 3: That was a legitimate situation where they could have scored
- 44:50Speaker 3: 100 points, and they could have gone 1,000 yards of offense.
- 44:51Speaker 3: They had 856 yards of offense. They had What, 42
- 44:57Speaker 3: first downs?
- 44:57Speaker 1: I mean, that 100 was easily in reach. If Mario
- 45:01Speaker 1: Cristobal had wanted to make a point, which he probably
- 45:03Speaker 1: did anyway, but if he'd have wanted to make a point,
- 45:05Speaker 1: you're right, 1,000 yards, 100 points could have happened. Against nobody,
- 45:08Speaker 1: Darian Mensah through two games.
- 45:09Speaker 2: I mean, all due respect to Stanford and Florida A & M,
- 45:11Speaker 2: 41 of 45, 653, eight touchdowns with a 91.1% completion rating.
- 45:20Speaker 3: It is remarkable.
- 45:20Speaker 1: His numbers have been astounding. Again, Stanford is at least
- 45:25Speaker 1: a conference team, but they're the worst team in that conference.
- 45:27Speaker 1: FAMU is not even on the same level. I saw
- 45:30Speaker 1: Brad Crawford, CBS Sports and others last night, but Brad
- 45:33Speaker 1: said it specifically this way. Miami is the best team
- 45:36Speaker 1: in the country and it's not even close, which I
- 45:38Speaker 1: think is an incorrect statement on Brad's part. They may
- 45:41Speaker 1: be the best team in the country, but you can't
- 45:43Speaker 1: say based on Stanford and FAMU that it's not even close. Okay,
- 45:46Speaker 1: let me ask you this, though, and then I'll teach
- 45:47Speaker 1: I'm in here. And I don't disagree with Brad. I
- 45:50Speaker 1: just don't know if we're going to know. You mentioned
- 45:52Speaker 1: the schedule for Miami already.
- 45:53Speaker 3: One, you know, Notre Dame, the.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Only ranked team right now they're supposed to play. We'll
- 45:56Speaker 2: see if anybody else gets in there. Not a challenging schedule.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Could they be what Gonzaga was for so many years
- 46:03Speaker 2: in college basketball when they got to the tournament that
- 46:06Speaker 2: just by they may be really, really good, But by
- 46:09Speaker 2: the time you get to the tournament, you haven't really
- 46:11Speaker 2: been tested. You're not molded to be on that brutal
- 46:16Speaker 2: championship run of winning three or four games against the
- 46:19Speaker 2: best in the country when you get there. Could their
- 46:21Speaker 2: schedule actually hurt them at the end of the season?
- 46:25Speaker 1: I mean, I'll give you an example, Lance.
- 46:27Speaker 3: Let's say they just roll through that schedule.
- 46:29Speaker 1: And let's say you're right about Oklahoma and Oklahoma gets
- 46:31Speaker 1: there because they've got this dominant defense. And it's by
- 46:35Speaker 1: far and away the best defense you've faced. How do
- 46:36Speaker 1: they react to that, you know?
- 46:38Speaker 3: Well, I mean, it affected Texas Tech last year. I mean,
- 46:41Speaker 3: Texas Tech wasn't as good as Oregon. They were going
- 46:43Speaker 3: to lose that game anyway. But, I mean, offensively, they
- 46:45Speaker 3: couldn't do anything. I do think, you know, at Clemson,
- 46:48Speaker 3: by the time we get to October, Clemson's still got
- 46:51Speaker 3: really good players. I mean, that's going to be a test. Yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Florida State, they're not good, but it's still a rivalry game,
- 47:00Speaker 3: a little bit of a test. North Carolina's defense looks
- 47:02Speaker 3: much improved. They've got to go to Chapel Hill. Kind
- 47:05Speaker 3: of a trap game there between Pitt and Notre Dame.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Pitt's going to be really good this year. Duke, not bad.
- 47:12Speaker 3: I think Duke's got every opportunity to beat Illinois on
- 47:15Speaker 3: the road tomorrow. So enough there to get them ready.
- 47:17Speaker 3: I think there's enough. I think it's going to be
- 47:18Speaker 3: a little bit different than what you saw with Texas
- 47:20Speaker 3: Tech and the fact that These Miami players believe, hey, look,
- 47:24Speaker 3: we were on this stage last year. We weren't supposed
- 47:26Speaker 3: to get in. We get in. We play for a
- 47:27Speaker 3: national championship. And I don't care who you're playing if
- 47:30Speaker 3: you're Malachi Tony. That guy is ridiculous. Yeah.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Well, yesterday on three sports, I can't remember.
- 47:36Speaker 3: How they had them ranked. For sure, you may remember.
- 47:39Speaker 3: I think Tony was one. Tony was one, Mensah was two.
- 47:42Speaker 3: I think so.
- 47:42Speaker 1: But top two in their Heisman poll right now were
- 47:44Speaker 1: both Hurricanes.
- 47:45Speaker 3: I didn't know who you put one or two.
- 47:47Speaker 1: That's a poll of people that cover college football, right?
- 47:49Speaker 3: Probably, I mean, for the sexiness, probably would go with
- 47:53Speaker 3: Malachi Tony. But, I mean, the fact is the ball
- 47:56Speaker 3: hasn't hit the turf.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I made a point, and you knew this already, but
- 47:59Speaker 1: I made a point to Dunaway yesterday that Arch Manning
- 48:01Speaker 1: did not even get to take a snap as the
- 48:02Speaker 1: Heisman favorites. because after Friday night in Palo Alto that morning,
- 48:06Speaker 1: the odds flipped to Mensah.
- 48:08Speaker 6: Yep.
- 48:09Speaker 3: And so Arch was.
- 48:10Speaker 1: The Heisman favorite all season long, doesn't even take a snap,
- 48:12Speaker 1: and already Mensah's the Heisman favorite.
- 48:14Speaker 3: I mean, it's going to be hard for the numbers
- 48:16Speaker 3: they'll put up in Shannon Dawson's system. Like, for those
- 48:18Speaker 3: guys not both to be in New York unless somebody
- 48:20Speaker 3: gets hurt.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Boy, Shannon Dawson, this is the guy that could really
- 48:23Speaker 1: cash in on this. I mean, he'll be, there's the,
- 48:25Speaker 1: what's his.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Tony Boy, Mensah, and then Trinidad, but two logos of
- 48:33Speaker 2: Miami right at the top. And you're going to say
- 48:35Speaker 2: they've played nobody yet.
- 48:36Speaker 3: No, they haven't. That is true.
- 48:37Speaker 1: A lot of teams have played nobody yet. Shannon Dawson
- 48:40Speaker 1: could cash in on.
- 48:41Speaker 3: This, though.
- 48:41Speaker 1: I mean, this guy's going to be a big name
- 48:43Speaker 1: in the offseason when people start wanting to hire coaches.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Big rivalry game tonight. Memphis, excuse me, Missouri and Kansas,
- 48:49Speaker 2: 7 o'clock, Maine Fox. There are other games tonight. The
- 48:53Speaker 2: Red Bandana game on this September 11th. They're at Boston College,
- 48:56Speaker 2: Rutgers and Boston College, Villanova and Louisville.
- 48:59Speaker 1: But Missouri and Kansas, if you're on the Hard Rock
- 49:03Speaker 1: Bet sports app, you will notice that Kansas, a home team,
- 49:08Speaker 1: not as big of an underdog as you would think
- 49:10Speaker 1: with what Kansas has lost and what Missouri, a ranked team,
- 49:14Speaker 1: is going in there in this rivalry game of hate
- 49:18Speaker 1: that really dates back to political stuff.
- 49:20Speaker 2: But on the field these two schools don't like each
- 49:22Speaker 2: other and this is a skinny skinny number is Missouri
- 49:25Speaker 2: in a little bit.
- 49:26Speaker 3: Of trouble possibly could be we don't know how good
- 49:29Speaker 3: Isaiah Marshall the sophomore quarterback is for Lance Leopold but
- 49:32Speaker 3: you go back last year it was a really really
- 49:34Speaker 3: good game going into the fourth quarter and There were
- 49:36Speaker 3: a couple of big plays, a big turnover. Missouri ends
- 49:39Speaker 3: up winning the game 42-31. Border War goes all the
- 49:42Speaker 3: way back to 1891. Austin Simmons, again, we don't know
- 49:46Speaker 3: how good he's going to be. It was 17-19, 252
- 49:49Speaker 3: yards in the first half against Pine Bluff, and then
- 49:51Speaker 3: he sits out the second half. I mean, we talk
- 49:56Speaker 3: about this window for Kansas. I don't know if it
- 49:57Speaker 3: was really ever open. Jalen Daniels could never stay healthy.
- 50:00Speaker 3: But Lance Leopold, back-to-back five and seven years, now people
- 50:04Speaker 3: are like, this isn't good enough for Kansas football. I'm like,
- 50:07Speaker 3: what's his problem with Kansas football? Five and seven is
- 50:09Speaker 3: not awful.
- 50:10Speaker 1: Don't tell me they're doing the, if Indiana can do it,
- 50:12Speaker 1: Kansas can do it.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure they are.
- 50:13Speaker 1: They built that new stadium, Brownie. It's a beautiful stadium.
- 50:16Speaker 1: It's basically reconstructed where it was, but yeah, it looks great.
- 50:20Speaker 3: I am really excited about the border war tonight. I
- 50:23Speaker 3: really am.
- 50:24Speaker 1: It's a good rivalry game on a Friday night.
- 50:26Speaker 3: I've got a seven star on it.
- 50:28Speaker 6: Oh.
- 50:28Speaker 3: My biggest play of the year yet.
- 50:29Speaker 1: It's your biggest play of the year?
- 50:30Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Can I ask, and it may be infinite, how many
- 50:33Speaker 1: stars can you go up at lanceslock.com?
- 50:36Speaker 3: Oh, we could, I mean, it could be infinite. Don't know.
- 50:38Speaker 3: We could have a million-star play. No, most of the
- 50:40Speaker 3: plays are four, three, four, five stars. But you're telling
- 50:44Speaker 3: me you could actually do a 10-star or 12-star. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:47Speaker 3: We'll have some of those coming up. But seven stars
- 50:49Speaker 3: is a juicy pick. It's a very, very good play.
- 50:51Speaker 1: You know, the interesting thing about Austin Simmons, as much
- 50:53Speaker 1: as he has played, and he does have a tremendous
- 50:55Speaker 1: amount of experience going back to Ole Miss, The only
- 50:59Speaker 1: road start I think he ever had was at Kentucky. So, like,
- 51:03Speaker 1: I even said this yesterday, so I'm going to come
- 51:05Speaker 1: back here and correct myself. Like, well, you got Austin Simmons.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I know he's a new starter at Missouri, but this
- 51:09Speaker 1: guy's experience going to SEC road stadiums, he's not going
- 51:12Speaker 1: to worry about Kansas. No, actually, I think the only
- 51:15Speaker 1: road stadium he started in was Kentucky.
- 51:16Speaker 3: Remember, he got hurt. I know.
- 51:18Speaker 1: And Trinidad replaced him. But even going back, you know,
- 51:21Speaker 1: before that.
- 51:22Speaker 3: I think those are kind of similar fan bases based
- 51:25Speaker 3: on the fact that, hey, look, basketball is the alpha.
- 51:27Speaker 3: We all know that. But this is a social event.
- 51:30Speaker 3: It's early in the season. Everything is still in front
- 51:33Speaker 3: of us. We could have a special season. Let's go
- 51:35Speaker 3: out on a Friday night. Let's get behind the team
- 51:37Speaker 3: and let's see what happens.
- 51:38Speaker 1: And I really believe it's supposed to be U.K.
- 51:41Speaker 2: Instead of K.U. I think it's the University of Kansas,
- 51:44Speaker 2: but they say K.U.
- 51:45Speaker 3: Anyway. They do. That is true.
- 51:46Speaker 1: And it's the University of Kentucky. They go U.K., I
- 51:50Speaker 1: believe that's right. It's University of Kansas. I don't think
- 51:51Speaker 1: it's Kansas University.
- 51:52Speaker 3: I've spent a lot of time on that, and I've
- 51:54Speaker 3: actually been to a game at Kansas at Old Memorial Stadium,
- 51:57Speaker 3: a 230 ABC. There's a historic.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Pizza place just down the end of the block of
- 52:03Speaker 2: where the stadium was.
- 52:04Speaker 3: I assume it's still there. They may have tore it
- 52:06Speaker 3: up for the new stadium, but I can't remember the
- 52:08Speaker 3: name of it. KU?
- 52:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 52:10Speaker 3: I know there's one in Missouri. Shakespeare's in Missouri. Shakespeare's, right?
- 52:13Speaker 3: I don't remember. Again, I spent a lot of time there.
- 52:16Speaker 3: I do remember the Cadillac Ranch. And the big Thursday
- 52:20Speaker 3: nights there. Kansas is a fun place. Kentucky is a
- 52:23Speaker 3: fun place. Absolutely. All right.
- 52:25Speaker 2: So that's tonight. We'll get into the Saturday games and
- 52:29Speaker 2: the opening weekend of the NFL, the full weekend, the
- 52:32Speaker 2: full Sunday, with Todd Furman coming up on the other side.
- 52:36Speaker 2: By the way, here's one little fact about NFL scheduling.
- 52:40Speaker 2: We already had Monday night football and Sunday night football
- 52:43Speaker 2: in 2007, right? In 2007, 83% of the NFL schedule
- 52:51Speaker 2: was played on Sundays. We already had the Thanksgiving games
- 52:54Speaker 2: and all that. This year, 72% of the NFL games
- 52:59Speaker 2: are played on Sunday afternoon.
- 53:01Speaker 1: But think about this. Tuesday is the only day on
- 53:05Speaker 1: the calendar we will not have an NFL game. that
- 53:07Speaker 1: the Rams play on another Wednesday, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
- 53:10Speaker 3: That's right. The schedule is so jacked up for the Rams.
- 53:14Speaker 3: I love, and I've told you guys, I hate the
- 53:16Speaker 3: primetime games. They got a primetime game basically in 10
- 53:19Speaker 3: days when they come back home and they take on
- 53:21Speaker 3: the Giants in SoFi. Then they've got a Sunday night
- 53:24Speaker 3: game in Denver. Now, that was a blessing by disguise
- 53:26Speaker 3: because I got a wedding at 3 o'clock that day,
- 53:29Speaker 3: which is crazy. So you'll take a night game then. But, yeah,
- 53:31Speaker 3: I'll take that night game. Then they go to Philly
- 53:34Speaker 3: to play a 12 o'clock game. Then they've got the
- 53:37Speaker 3: Bills at 7-15. They don't play, this is crazy, a
- 53:41Speaker 3: 3-0-5 game until October 18th.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Yeah, which is usually the slot for the Rams to
- 53:46Speaker 2: be really good. Furman on the other side, this is
- 53:50Speaker 2: the next round presented by Hard Rock Bets on Sporting State.
