- 0:12Speaker 1: What's up. My name is Matt.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm the vocalist from Caskets and we have a brand
- 0:16Speaker 2: new album coming out on November the seventh, called The
- 0:19Speaker 2: Only Heaven You'll Know.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Fantastic, Matt, thanks for joining us this morning.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Mate, of course, man, thank you for having me my pleasure.
- 0:27Speaker 3: As you say, Caskets release your third studio album, The
- 0:29Speaker 3: Only Heaven You'll Know, this Friday, November seventh, Mate, So
- 0:33Speaker 3: how are you feeling about it?
- 0:36Speaker 2: I'm excited, bro, I'm proper stoke trip. Like normally, the
- 0:41Speaker 2: last last two albums, I've been really really nervous, but
- 0:43Speaker 2: I'm super super happy with this record and I'm super
- 0:47Speaker 2: stoked for everyone to hear it.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Bro.
- 0:49Speaker 3: No, it's actually funny you mentioned that because you've been
- 0:51Speaker 3: nervous for the last two albums. But those two albums
- 0:54Speaker 3: have been massive successful, So if anything, you should be
- 0:56Speaker 3: nervous for this one because you've got all that hype
- 0:59Speaker 3: to live up to.
- 0:59Speaker 2: You don't say that to me, No, No, I'm I'm
- 1:07Speaker 2: the most happy with these songs than I ever have been,
- 1:10Speaker 2: you know. I mean, I think that's why I'm super
- 1:12Speaker 2: stoked for everyone to hear him.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Like.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I'm also anxious for people to hear him.
- 1:16Speaker 2: But I'm you know, I'm happy with the work that
- 1:19Speaker 2: we've that we've done on this record, so I'm just
- 1:23Speaker 2: excited for people to finally hear what it is.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Can you tell us a bit more about the album
- 1:28Speaker 3: from a musical point of view and what youre do
- 1:29Speaker 3: for this summer?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, So we wanted this album to basically be
- 1:36Speaker 2: more an evolution of the sound that we already have,
- 1:40Speaker 2: do you know what I mean? There's a lot more
- 1:43Speaker 2: like poppy elements within these songs compared to our previous music,
- 1:48Speaker 2: simply because we wanted to incorporate some more elements of genres.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I'd say, not just for the fun of it, but
- 1:56Speaker 2: because but because we wanted to add different genres of
- 2:01Speaker 2: music that we all love as people as musicians out
- 2:05Speaker 2: of the band, you know what I mean. Like I
- 2:06Speaker 2: love acoustic music, I you know, love a lot of
- 2:09Speaker 2: pop music, and we haven't really we haven't really gone
- 2:13Speaker 2: into that in our previous music. So we wanted to
- 2:15Speaker 2: do that and thankfully, I think we found a good
- 2:19Speaker 2: balance for that too. But yeah, there's a lot more
- 2:22Speaker 2: synth heavy elements and people have been calling for it
- 2:26Speaker 2: for a few years now, so we finally started doing
- 2:28Speaker 2: a bit more screaming, which I'm personally super stoked about too.
- 2:33Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm just like I said, I'm super super
- 2:35Speaker 2: stoked for people to hear it, and I can't wait
- 2:38Speaker 2: to hear what their thoughts are too.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Like you mentioned the pop elements and a bit of
- 2:42Speaker 3: the synth, which it is there, But I listened to
- 2:45Speaker 3: the album last night before doing these questions. Happen. It's
- 2:48Speaker 3: not obtrusive, Like, it's not like it's not just stuck
- 2:51Speaker 3: in there for this take of it. It actually works in
- 2:53Speaker 3: with the songs. You've managed to integrate into the music
- 2:55Speaker 3: rather than place it in there.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. We were super conscious about it. Like
- 3:01Speaker 2: I said, I've said before, we wanted we wanted the
- 3:04Speaker 2: really high bits, you know, the big choruses to be
- 3:07Speaker 2: like the really emotionally like evoking parts of the songs,
- 3:11Speaker 2: and then we wanted to make sure that a lot
- 3:13Speaker 2: of the verses were a bit more subdued, do you
- 3:16Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like back down into that pop
- 3:18Speaker 2: kind of area, do you know what I mean? And
- 3:22Speaker 2: like I said, yeah, we thought a lot about We
- 3:26Speaker 2: went through the songs as demos and we tweaked some
- 3:29Speaker 2: bits here and there, We took parts out, synth parts out,
- 3:33Speaker 2: changed poppy verses to heavy verses because the emotion or
- 3:39Speaker 2: the feel of the song calls for it. Like you said,
- 3:42Speaker 2: we didn't. We didn't want to just fucking drop pop
- 3:45Speaker 2: bits in there or heavier bits in there just for
- 3:48Speaker 2: the fun of it.
- 3:48Speaker 1: We wanted it to We wanted to be a ride
- 3:51Speaker 1: of a journey throughout the whole album, do you know
- 3:53Speaker 1: what I mean?
- 3:54Speaker 2: So, yeah, thank you. I'd like to say, all right,
- 3:57Speaker 2: we did just drop it in there for the fun.
- 4:01Speaker 3: And this would have been fairs of caskets for all
- 4:03Speaker 3: and just go bucking what do you mean? But like
- 4:08Speaker 3: you know, like when when you bring it down to
- 4:09Speaker 3: that level, it actually makes it heavier bits heavier because
- 4:12Speaker 3: you can thrown down and you just like reach and
- 4:15Speaker 3: straight up and do it. And I don't think any
- 4:18Speaker 3: old school fans can be disappointed because it's still got all,
- 4:21Speaker 3: but it's just plashed it out a little bit.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you very much, man. Yeah we want to. Yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 2: I think you're right, Like the going from the quieter
- 4:29Speaker 2: parts and then once it like explodes into these big parts.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I think you're right it does give it more of
- 4:37Speaker 2: a bigger epic, you know, heavier feeling.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So yeah, I hope people, I hope the majority of.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Our listeners kind of appreciate what we've tried to go
- 4:47Speaker 2: for this time, do you know what I mean?
- 4:49Speaker 1: Because we really tried to We've really tried to like.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Broaden our horizons, but not not in a sense of
- 4:56Speaker 2: becoming a completely different sounding bands, you know what I mean.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I think we know what our niches now and we're
- 5:02Speaker 2: just trying to find different ways to kind of accentuate
- 5:06Speaker 2: different like elements of magic in there.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I guess.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Nice.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Now you've released the singles Make Me a Marter, The
- 5:14Speaker 3: Only Heaven, Your No Plasure, and Sacrifice. So are they
- 5:17Speaker 3: a good study representation of the album overall? Are they
- 5:20Speaker 3: just scratching the surface you reckon?
- 5:22Speaker 1: I'd say they're discratching the surface, dude.
- 5:24Speaker 2: There's a completely different element to the album that I
- 5:29Speaker 2: don't think anyone's heard off those singles yet, and I
- 5:32Speaker 2: think that's the more heavier.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Aspect of it that give them. I think there's a
- 5:40Speaker 1: bigger heavier aspect of it.
- 5:43Speaker 2: There's another song coming also, which which does which will
- 5:46Speaker 2: portray that also so yeah, I think I think I
- 5:53Speaker 2: think those singles represent or give the listener an idea
- 5:58Speaker 2: of where the album is going, do you know what
- 6:00Speaker 2: I mean?
- 6:00Speaker 1: Like sonically musically, but I think there.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Are also some little surprises in there that people won't
- 6:06Speaker 2: hear you until the album comes out.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Nice.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Now, you were quoted as saying that this record is
- 6:13Speaker 3: a sound of me falling apart in real time, which
- 6:15Speaker 3: is a very interesting quote. Can can you elaborate on
- 6:18Speaker 3: that first place?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah? So I write or I sing, I've written lyrics.
- 6:25Speaker 2: A lot of the meanings of these songs are things
- 6:28Speaker 2: are written about parts of me or aspects of my
- 6:30Speaker 2: life that I've in all honestly been too scared or
- 6:35Speaker 2: anxious to talk about before ever, like to anyone.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 6:42Speaker 2: And I thought it's about I feel like it's time
- 6:47Speaker 2: for me now to get these.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Not only thoughts out my head for my own sake.
- 6:53Speaker 2: But I know that I know that this type of
- 6:55Speaker 2: stuff that I've gone through in the past, and what
- 6:57Speaker 2: I've sung about in these new songs, I know that
- 7:01Speaker 2: that they'll potentially help other people listening to these songs help.
- 7:05Speaker 2: You know, they'll relate to it and I hope it
- 7:08Speaker 2: helps them find some you know, some closure or helps
- 7:13Speaker 2: them feel heard and fit and feel scenes do you
- 7:16Speaker 2: know what I mean? But yeah, a lot of the
- 7:19Speaker 2: songs are about my my you know, my dealings with
- 7:24Speaker 2: my belief in faith, and my past with you know, addictions,
- 7:31Speaker 2: and parts of my upbringing and my own self criticisms
- 7:35Speaker 2: as well, do you know what I mean. Like, it's
- 7:37Speaker 2: about time I kind of like took a little bit
- 7:39Speaker 2: of responsibility for some other bad I've done in my
- 7:43Speaker 2: life that I've kind of kept inside and pent up,
- 7:46Speaker 2: and I've kind of let that out, not just for me,
- 7:49Speaker 2: but so other people can hear that it's fine to
- 7:55Speaker 2: it's fine to acknowledge that you're sometimes you can be
- 7:58Speaker 2: the bad person in a situation, but also know that
- 8:01Speaker 2: it's you know, we all have bad in us, and
- 8:04Speaker 2: we all do bad things. But it's also fine to
- 8:06Speaker 2: forgive yourself and to try and find forgiveness by others
- 8:12Speaker 2: within within the aspect of what, well, whatever it is
- 8:17Speaker 2: you're going through. Do you know what I mean? So, yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 2: it's a lot of it is about a lot of
- 8:23Speaker 2: the times in my life where I was literally fucking
- 8:26Speaker 2: falling apart and looking for guidance, and I think that's
- 8:29Speaker 2: why a lot of it is to do with faith
- 8:31Speaker 2: and stuff like that.
- 8:33Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, I really respect the fact that you
- 8:36Speaker 3: can do that as a musician made but is always
- 8:38Speaker 3: I've always wondered, like you say, like, these are your
- 8:42Speaker 3: deepest sort of thoughts, and they're often criticisms of yourself,
- 8:45Speaker 3: and you're anxious about them in the first place, So
- 8:48Speaker 3: how does it help telling the world like and reliving
- 8:51Speaker 3: it every night when you sing it on stage? Like,
- 8:53Speaker 3: surely that's just opening up old wounds sometimes.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, I think So.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I kind of can't answer that yet because we've not
- 9:03Speaker 2: we've only sung one of these songs live so far.
- 9:06Speaker 2: But I think for me personally, I think it's a part.
- 9:10Speaker 2: It's a part of my fucking job, do you know
- 9:12Speaker 2: what I mean? I have a responsibility as a as
- 9:15Speaker 2: the vocalist of a band who's willing to write songs
- 9:17Speaker 2: like this. Once they're written, it's then my responsibility.
- 9:21Speaker 1: To to put that out there.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Like now these songs are done, they're about to be
- 9:25Speaker 2: out to the world, like they're not mine anymore, do
- 9:27Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Just because I sing them and I wrote I wrote them.
- 9:31Speaker 1: They don't. They don't belong to me. I didn't write.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I wrote the songs for me to try and heal,
- 9:36Speaker 2: But I didn't write the songs to keep for me,
- 9:39Speaker 2: do you know what I mean?
- 9:40Speaker 1: They're for the there, there for the world.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So if I have to go up on stage every
- 9:44Speaker 2: night and fucking relive that trauma and stuff, so be it.
- 9:48Speaker 2: But also I try, I do my very best nowadays
- 9:50Speaker 2: to try and find a positive edge.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And like, if I'm.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Going through that trauma every night, it's it's just going
- 9:58Speaker 2: to push the emotion more and it's going to it's
- 10:01Speaker 2: going to show how much how much it fucking means
- 10:03Speaker 2: to me.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 10:04Speaker 2: To be there doing that and to be able to sing,
- 10:08Speaker 2: sing the sing the songs that I write every night
- 10:11Speaker 2: on a on a on a stage like that, like
- 10:14Speaker 2: on whether I'm in England and America and Australia anywhere else.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Like I have the best job in the world, dude,
- 10:20Speaker 2: you know what I mean? And if if me going
- 10:23Speaker 2: through that trauma day in and out, night in, night
- 10:25Speaker 2: out means.
- 10:26Speaker 1: That I still get to do this, then then so
- 10:28Speaker 1: be it. I'm fine with that, man.
- 10:30Speaker 3: YEA for respect to your brother, because I don't think
- 10:32Speaker 3: enough fans out there actually appreciate the gravity of you.
- 10:35Speaker 6: Haven't you go through that?
- 10:36Speaker 3: Every night they grab onto the song and they love it,
- 10:39Speaker 3: but they don't realize it is your life you're pouring
- 10:43Speaker 3: out to night after night, and I think I'll be
- 10:46Speaker 3: able to.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Do it, thank you. Do they appreciate that?
- 10:49Speaker 3: Man?
- 10:49Speaker 5: All right?
- 10:50Speaker 3: Men? So would you say overall that the albums an
- 10:52Speaker 3: album of hope or an album of despair?
- 11:00Speaker 2: I'd say for the listeners, it's an album of hope
- 11:05Speaker 2: and redemption, you know. For me writing it, it was
- 11:11Speaker 2: an album of despair at the start obviously because of
- 11:14Speaker 2: like what I sing about, and a lot of the
- 11:18Speaker 2: stuff was it's the first time I've like tried to
- 11:24Speaker 2: deal with it, do you know what I mean? All
- 11:26Speaker 2: the time it's always been like suppressed in the back
- 11:28Speaker 2: of my mind, just try to ignore it, get on
- 11:30Speaker 2: with my life. But it's always been there, like kneeling
- 11:34Speaker 2: in the back of my fucking head, and over the
- 11:36Speaker 2: years it's just gotten.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Like bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger.
- 11:39Speaker 2: So yeah, eventually, when I was sat down like writing
- 11:41Speaker 2: a lot of this album, it was traumatizing, dude, you
- 11:45Speaker 2: know what I mean, Like it opens up, like you said,
- 11:47Speaker 2: opens up a lot of wounds, makes you think about
- 11:50Speaker 2: situations that I'd also forgot about. The you know, when
- 11:54Speaker 2: I'm talking about the faith and I'll be talking about
- 11:57Speaker 2: one specific thing that happened to me, but then something
- 12:03Speaker 2: else will creep up from my subconscience and I'm like fucking.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Hell, like.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, like that fucking happened too, Like.
- 12:13Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, I'd say, I'd say it's it's it's.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Hope for other people to know that you can go
- 12:22Speaker 2: through this ship and you can still find a way out,
- 12:25Speaker 2: and you can still seek forgiveness if that's what you
- 12:27Speaker 2: are seeking, Like, you know, there's always room for people
- 12:31Speaker 2: to be forgiven for their past mistakes and stuff like that.
- 12:34Speaker 2: But also I want people to feel heard and for
- 12:38Speaker 2: I say it a lot, but for people to be
- 12:39Speaker 2: able to relate to what I'm talking about, Like I
- 12:43Speaker 2: hope if there's other people dealing with, you know, their
- 12:47Speaker 2: belief in a higher you know, a higher entity or
- 12:51Speaker 2: any god that they believe in, and they question it,
- 12:54Speaker 2: like I hope that. I hope that the words in
- 12:57Speaker 2: these songs like kind of help them find a path to.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Enlightenment, or to help them give my voice.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah exactly, just just or to just
- 13:10Speaker 2: help them heal, do you.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Know what I mean? Yeah, you're very cool.
- 13:14Speaker 3: You got to spam back in twenty eighteen. Mate, So
- 13:17Speaker 3: what was your early vision for Caskets and how has
- 13:20Speaker 3: it changed since?
- 13:23Speaker 1: Ah?
- 13:23Speaker 6: Fuck?
- 13:24Speaker 2: So when I started Caskets, dude, I just it was
- 13:29Speaker 2: just I had no I learned not to have a
- 13:34Speaker 2: certain expectation, you know what I mean. I just it
- 13:37Speaker 2: became it got to a point in my life where
- 13:39Speaker 2: I was just like, it's probably not gonna happen, Like
- 13:42Speaker 2: so I'm just going to carry on doing music, but
- 13:44Speaker 2: have fun, do you know what I mean? But then
- 13:46Speaker 2: I got into Caskets and I realized, like, how like
- 13:48Speaker 2: on the fucking ball, Like you know, these members were
- 13:52Speaker 2: like they we built this plan like this, you know,
- 13:55Speaker 2: like five year plan, Like we're gonna spend a year
- 13:57Speaker 2: writing these songs, write and EP, then I'm gonna out
- 14:00Speaker 2: to management, then try and get on a label like
- 14:03Speaker 2: this and that, and we're going to do it this
- 14:04Speaker 2: way and that way. Then that instantly made me think
- 14:08Speaker 2: like you know, like holy shit, like this could actually
- 14:12Speaker 2: this could actually happen, Like, yeah, this could actually work,
- 14:16Speaker 2: and I guess did. Like we've just been riding that
- 14:19Speaker 2: wave ever since, you know what I mean, Like there's
- 14:21Speaker 2: been a lot of ups and downs, and we're you know,
- 14:25Speaker 2: we're four guys from nowhere in England. So we always
- 14:30Speaker 2: we appreciate and always will appreciate how very, very very
- 14:32Speaker 2: lucky we are to have even gotten this far in
- 14:36Speaker 2: such a saturated industry.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Now, do you know what I mean? So we did
- 14:44Speaker 1: you know, we take we were always like, well, at
- 14:48Speaker 1: least I do. I always take a step back to
- 14:52Speaker 1: look at the.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Journeys, you know what I mean, like trying to visualize
- 14:54Speaker 2: the journey and look at how far we've come. And
- 14:57Speaker 2: if it all, if it all stops tomorrow, you know,
- 15:01Speaker 2: I'd I would not be better. I'd still be super
- 15:04Speaker 2: grateful and happy as to how far we've come. Obviously,
- 15:08Speaker 2: you know, every band wants to be the biggest band
- 15:10Speaker 2: in the world and this and that, but that's not
- 15:14Speaker 2: that's not my aim, you know what I mean, Like,
- 15:16Speaker 2: I'd I'd love to be able to earn a really
- 15:19Speaker 2: solid living off it and stuff like that.
- 15:21Speaker 1: That would that would be sick. But I don't want to.
- 15:23Speaker 2: You know, I'm not bothered about fucking walking red carpets
- 15:25Speaker 2: every night or anything like that, but I want to.
- 15:29Speaker 2: The main thing is I want to write music that
- 15:31Speaker 2: that I care about and that I hope other people
- 15:34Speaker 2: caring off about to want to listen to.
- 15:36Speaker 5: Yeah. Nice, Yeah, your debut album, Blos Souls was a
- 15:39Speaker 5: breakthrough album for you guys, Like, did that only success
- 15:42Speaker 5: come as a surprise you with the band or when
- 15:44Speaker 5: you created that album, did you did you know that
- 15:46Speaker 5: there was something special about it?
- 15:49Speaker 2: I wouldn't say we knew there was something special about it.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I think I think we you know, not tooting our
- 15:56Speaker 2: own horn, but we we knew it was a pretty
- 15:58Speaker 2: fucking decent album, do you know what I mean, especially
- 16:01Speaker 2: for a band's debut album. But we never never expected
- 16:04Speaker 2: it to do as well as what it did, like
- 16:08Speaker 2: glass arts about it fucking one hundred million streams on Spotify,
- 16:12Speaker 2: like you know, never ever, every in a while, these
- 16:15Speaker 2: dreams like expected it to.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Do that, do you know what I mean?
- 16:18Speaker 4: So?
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but then also like I do my very best
- 16:23Speaker 2: to not be like, right, well, this new album needs
- 16:27Speaker 2: to do better than that album, do you know what
- 16:29Speaker 2: I mean like because that's yeah, because that's too much pressure.
- 16:33Speaker 2: But also I think that can create like a toxic
- 16:36Speaker 2: mentality towards moving forwards.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean? Like, that's done.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Now, it did what it did, like and I'm super
- 16:43Speaker 2: happy and grateful for what it did and did for us.
- 16:46Speaker 2: But it's time to focus on what's next. And if
- 16:49Speaker 2: what's next doesn't do as well, then that's fine, so
- 16:53Speaker 2: be it. I love it, I'm sure people do love it,
- 16:56Speaker 2: And onto the next thing, do you know what I mean?
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah, it's actually segue into the next question. Maybe because
- 17:02Speaker 3: you took a deeper, more introspective chain on the follow
- 17:04Speaker 3: up album, Reflections, which was a brave mood considering the
- 17:07Speaker 3: success of lot Doles, but with a tempting at a
- 17:10Speaker 3: time just to rehatchup was obviously a winning formula or
- 17:12Speaker 3: was it important for you to change things up?
- 17:16Speaker 2: I think personally doing Reflections, we put too much pressure
- 17:20Speaker 2: on ourselves too, Like this is what I mean when
- 17:24Speaker 2: it came to like looking back and it making some
- 17:27Speaker 2: toxic mentality to next, so we was like it needs
- 17:31Speaker 2: to be better, Like how the fuck can we make it?
- 17:35Speaker 2: Not the exact same album but still sound like caskets
- 17:39Speaker 2: but be better. So we like changed up the way
- 17:42Speaker 2: we wrote the songs, you know, you know the I
- 17:49Speaker 2: don't know the route as to how we wrote songs
- 17:51Speaker 2: like Lost Souls was a lot about what I was
- 17:55Speaker 2: going through in that moment in time, do you know
- 17:58Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 18:00Speaker 1: Whereas Reflections was.
- 18:02Speaker 2: More a collaborative album between all of us as a band,
- 18:05Speaker 2: like and that's I think that grew us together because
- 18:09Speaker 2: we all opened up to each other about some of
- 18:12Speaker 2: the ship we'd gone through in life and stuff like that.
- 18:14Speaker 2: And so we wrote songs not only about what I'd
- 18:18Speaker 2: gone through, but you know, about what the other members
- 18:21Speaker 2: had gone through too. But then I think that it
- 18:27Speaker 2: was sometimes difficult for me to sing those songs, and
- 18:33Speaker 2: I don't think they came the emotion came across.
- 18:35Speaker 1: The way that I wanted it to.
- 18:37Speaker 2: And I think it was just simply because they weren't
- 18:40Speaker 2: songs about my my shit, do you know?
- 18:44Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 18:46Speaker 2: So that's why we went back to the way we
- 18:48Speaker 2: wrote our souls like this this time around, because I
- 18:52Speaker 2: think we found the perfect way of how to write
- 18:55Speaker 2: our songs, and we felt that pressure right in Reflection
- 19:00Speaker 2: and we felt like we needed to do something different,
- 19:02Speaker 2: and now we kind of kind of realized that we
- 19:06Speaker 2: we didn't need.
- 19:07Speaker 1: To do anything different.
- 19:08Speaker 2: We just let Yeah, we just we just let the
- 19:10Speaker 2: fucking the We just let it get on top of
- 19:15Speaker 2: us and do you know what I mean, and let
- 19:18Speaker 2: the pressure get to us. I guess so, Like I said,
- 19:21Speaker 2: this time around, we're just the mentality was, we're going
- 19:23Speaker 2: to go into this studio, We're gonna write this fucking
- 19:26Speaker 2: album and we're not gonna worry about what anyone else
- 19:28Speaker 2: wants or what anyone else thinks. We're just going to
- 19:30Speaker 2: write songs that we want to write and we're going
- 19:32Speaker 2: to fucking have fun doing it. And that's what we did,
- 19:35Speaker 2: and I think that's why we've come out with our
- 19:38Speaker 2: best album.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Yeah, personally fantastic right now. The other good news is
- 19:42Speaker 3: that you were returning to Australia next year. We're run
- 19:45Speaker 3: of shows with We came As Romans, which kicks off
- 19:47Speaker 3: in Brisbane on Fevery the Stick. But yeah, it's like
- 19:50Speaker 3: a dream torn Tine brother. Have you played Fippy Children
- 19:52Speaker 3: them much before?
- 19:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we did a tour with them. I think it
- 19:56Speaker 2: was like probably two three years ago around Europe, wh
- 20:00Speaker 2: which was a fucking good time. Fun fun fact, I
- 20:03Speaker 2: actually broke my elbow on that tour falling off a
- 20:06Speaker 2: Lime scooter in Germany. Yeah, I hit, I hit a curve, dude,
- 20:13Speaker 2: and went alsover tit and just like landed right on
- 20:15Speaker 2: my elbow and then I had here and then I
- 20:18Speaker 2: had to play like luckily there was only about four
- 20:21Speaker 2: shows left of the tour, but my own was that
- 20:23Speaker 2: beat up.
- 20:23Speaker 5: I like.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Just on stage, dude, like like I'm just hanging.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Off real like. But yeah, they're super super super sick guys,
- 20:36Speaker 2: very very talented. I mean listening to them for a
- 20:39Speaker 2: long time as well, so it's like it was an
- 20:41Speaker 2: on the first time around. So you know, I'm super
- 20:44Speaker 2: lucky to be able to share the stage with them
- 20:47Speaker 2: a second time around. So yeah, I can't wait, dude,
- 20:49Speaker 2: it's going to be It's going to be a dope time.
- 20:52Speaker 3: No, it's going to be nearly two years since caskets
- 20:55Speaker 3: were last in Australia by the time that comes around,
- 20:57Speaker 3: so lives going to be different this time what it
- 21:00Speaker 3: was to use again.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Well, the shows, the shows are a little bit bigger
- 21:07Speaker 2: this time around, and we finally have a little bit
- 21:10Speaker 2: more money to be able to spend on, you know
- 21:12Speaker 2: as a good looking set and stuff. So yeah, we
- 21:16Speaker 2: hope that people people will notice that. And yeah, honestly, dude,
- 21:22Speaker 2: like we just can't wait to get back to Australia
- 21:25Speaker 2: and play some shows. There's some like I don't I'm
- 21:28Speaker 2: not just saying this, like the Australia shows or some
- 21:31Speaker 2: of the most memorable and best shows I think we've
- 21:36Speaker 2: ever played, like super super insanely intense, like crowd goes
- 21:41Speaker 2: so hard, like all the way through the show. There's
- 21:44Speaker 2: no like down down moment of a show in Australia.
- 21:48Speaker 2: So yeah, we we're stout, dude.
- 21:50Speaker 1: We can't wait.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And we got like a little a little set to
- 21:54Speaker 2: bring along too, and we have better equipment this time
- 21:57Speaker 2: around and stuff too, so hopefully the sound is a
- 21:59Speaker 2: little bit.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Then you've finished your tour off with an appearance at
- 22:04Speaker 3: Life's a Beach Festival in Melbourne on February forty alongside
- 22:07Speaker 3: Power Murder Ocean Sleeper. We came as Rhymans. There there's
- 22:11Speaker 3: more as well. Not a bad way to wind up
- 22:14Speaker 3: with them, I'd metal on Valentine's Day.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yeah, right, fucking insane, right, and it's it's our first
- 22:20Speaker 2: time playing with a lot of these bands too. So
- 22:25Speaker 2: also I've been listening to to Plaiers since, you know,
- 22:28Speaker 2: since like twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, so before our band
- 22:31Speaker 2: even started.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Like, so I've I've always been a big fan of.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Theirs, and so yeah, I'm super I've not I've not
- 22:38Speaker 2: seen them live yet either, so I'm super Yeah, I
- 22:41Speaker 2: fucking bet dude, Like, I'm super super stoked to be
- 22:45Speaker 2: there and hopefully spend a few moments with them getting
- 22:48Speaker 2: to know them. But I'm super excited to play the
- 22:50Speaker 2: show Man. It'll be the biggest show we've played in
- 22:52Speaker 2: Australia too, and yeah, I'm looking forward to to get
- 22:57Speaker 2: and to see the rest of the bands too. It's
- 22:58Speaker 2: going to be it's going to be a time.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, Well, thanks very much for your time, Matte,
- 23:02Speaker 3: being a pleasure chatting with you. That Only Heaven You'll
- 23:04Speaker 3: Know is out this Friday, November seventh, and don't let
- 23:07Speaker 3: our little talk about pop before puts you off. It's
- 23:09Speaker 3: a fucking heavy ass album, really good, Ebro. I think
- 23:12Speaker 3: you're writing sane as your best yet made it quality.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Thank you very much, man, appreciate you, Chris, thank you
- 23:17Speaker 2: very much, dude, thank you for having me.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we were.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Running together, we were on in the show forgiven. But again,
- 23:44Speaker 4: go before we lose control. I thought we can make
- 23:51Speaker 4: it together. That you had a plan of your own.
- 23:54Speaker 4: You can be seen for yourself as I'm dating. We
- 23:57Speaker 4: never have a meeting.
- 23:58Speaker 6: We want to see that.
- 24:00Speaker 7: Oh quas, why say do go call to class?
