- 0:01SPEAKER_05: Welcome back to Keeping It Relevant.
- 0:05SPEAKER_05: I'm Alex.
- 0:07SPEAKER_05: I'm John.
- 0:08SPEAKER_05: And I'm Cody.
- 0:11SPEAKER_04: We're here to give you all the wrong information with the utmost confidence.
- 0:16SPEAKER_04: What wrong information are you going to give them today, John, with the most relative news?
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Okay, so boy, I got some relevant news for you all.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Really quick, just uh set up.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: We're called keeping it relevant because we release these videos when we mass record these things and then we release them weeks down the line.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: What I'm talking about for relative news could be considered old news, but we keep it relative because you're going to hear about this three weeks after the fact.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Or four weeks.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know, actually.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: I think it's three, but I don't know.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Three to four weeks after the fact.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: So that being said, today marks a few days.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: First, the new Godzilla Minus Zero trailer came out, and it confirmed something that I can admit when I'm wrong, I was wrong about.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And it confirmed that King Kidora will be the antagonist, or at least the other monster in this movie.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: I am curious to see what they do with it because it doesn't look like he's going to be an alien.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: It looks like they're going to create him, which I'm actually really excited about.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: But that's not really the biggest news about it.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: The biggest news about it is that this is the first Japanese film that is filmed in IMAX.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: So that it I think that's a big big deal and pretty historic, actually, when when coming into the cinematic universe of just cinema in general.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm thinking, because uh they won their Academy Award for Best Visuals when Minus One came out.
- 2:05SPEAKER_04: I'm interested to see how uh Godzilla Minus One, Godzilla Minus Zero, and that new movie uh Hope all compare to Box Office with each other because Hope looks good.
- 2:22SPEAKER_04: I have no idea what's going on in it at all.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, dude.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: But it looks good.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: I'm excited for Hope.
- 2:29SPEAKER_04: That's the one that we saw in uh Legend of the White Dragon Cup.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: We were like that look we were like, that looks sick.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: No idea what's happening in it, but it looks cool.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: A town thinks a tiger got loose and is wreaking havoc on the town, but it turns out it's aliens.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Oh the trailer definitely gave no indication of that what was going on.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I had to listen, I had to listen to Robert Meyer Burnett talk about the film for me to know what the flip it was about.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: So I'm interested in that.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Um, but on the IMAX news, this is crazy, and I actually have an article for this.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Um and Alex, you might find this interesting as well.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: The original, I'm not talking the special edition, I'm not talking anything that Disney has done.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about the original 1977 Star Wars episode four, a new hope is being re-released in IMAX 70 millimeter February 2027.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Not only is this the first time that Star Wars A New Hope, or actually Star Wars in general, but anyways, not only is this the first time that Star Wars A New Hope is being uh played in IMAX, but this is also the first time that um it's being uh the original, again, not the uh special edition, but the original 1997 film is being updated.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: There are like other HD and 4K releases, but those are unauthorized releases that people have just done.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: This is the first original official authorized release of the film updated, and it's been updated for 70 millimeter IMAX, which is crazy.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Uh, the article here uh from slash film.com says that it will be released February 19th, 2027.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: I am thinking about going to the Kansas City or St.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Louis to go see that.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: So I'm not sure what you guys feel.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: Uh that one's probably a good one to go to.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Cody, would you go see that in in 70 millimeter IMAX or just in IMAX in general?
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Like a word.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I would be interested enough to actually go watch it.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: If it was closer, maybe.
- 5:23SPEAKER_05: But I don't know if I want to drive that far for it.
- 5:27SPEAKER_05: That's fair.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: So I I'm not sure if Alex, you have anything on that.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: Uh just depends on what f I'd go uh depending on what day in February it is.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: If it's February 14th or 15th, it's not happening.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Uh well it's it well it said it was gonna be February, uh I just had it.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Uh February 19th.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: Which if I also the 14th wouldn't make sense, anyways, for a release because that's a Sunday.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: If it's gonna release, it'll be on the Friday.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Yep, 19th is Friday.
- 6:06SPEAKER_04: Special edition, like special release.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: So I didn't know I feel like it's on Valentine's Day.
- 6:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:12SPEAKER_04: Even then they there's something more there's something more important than that on that day this year.
- 6:19SPEAKER_05: It depends who you ask.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: What's more important?
- 6:24SPEAKER_05: Super Bowl.
- 6:25SPEAKER_05: Super Bowl.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: This coming this coming Super Bowl will be on Valentine's Day.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be a wild day for everyone.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it is.
- 6:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because it's a I'm pretty sure, well, for me, it's a three-day weekend.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 6:45SPEAKER_04: That Monday's President's Day.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Oh shoot.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: That might be a three-day weekend for me, too.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: No idea.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: I'm not used to having off holidays.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be I'm gonna be busy in February.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Anyway, so that's pretty cool.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: So we got two first-time IMAX releases coming out.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: One November of this year, and then the other one February next year.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: I think uh I I mean IMAX, I don't know why IMAX is selling.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: I know we talked about that in relevance a few episodes ago.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's still a thing.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: I haven't looked at it, but with what Odyssey did and and what doomsday is doing, and even well, not Doomsday, but what Dune Part Three is doing in contrast to you know Doomsday and whatnot.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm like, why is IMAX selling?
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Like they're doing fine, they're doing great, it seems, but I I don't know the logistics of it.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: But speaking of Doomsday, let's transition to that.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: So we know we talked about the possibility of uh the re-release of Avengers Endgame possibly being the first movie to make three million dollars.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna let you know right now.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Talk about relevance news.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: That's what I said, three billion.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: Okay, anyways, I it's funny, I wrote down million.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: So uh I know that talk about relevance news.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: That is old school.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: That is old school even for us.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: When you guys hear the episode about us talking about that, that is gonna be so old school, it's gonna be whatever.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Nobody thinks that anymore because of the projections, the very early projections right now, the box office on top of the pre-sales already for Avengers Doomsday, and it's actual theatrical run, no re-releases or anything like that.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: We're talking about it's honest to heart, full theatricalness.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: It is projected to make three billion dollars and have it officially be the movie to make three billion dollars.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: So, Alex, what do you think about that?
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: For Doomsday or for Encore?
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: For Doomsday.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: No one cares about Encore anymore.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: No one thinks it's gonna make 200 million, and because of the numbers of Doomsday, like that's yesterday's news talking about Encore.
- 9:05SPEAKER_04: So I think it depends on I don't know.
- 9:12SPEAKER_04: I don't think it will because you got too many people out there who'll just go one like one time just to see it and call it a day.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: But then you got the two of us that'll go more like a couple times just to like make sure we got everything.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: If Endgame didn't get three billion, doomsday shouldn't get three billion.
- 9:37SPEAKER_04: Now, ask me in Secret Wars, different story.
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: I think Secret Wars probably would hit three billion just because of like what happens in Secret Wars.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: I will say the the same way that Spider-Man is doing good business for Doomsday, if Doomsday is as good as everybody says it is, and somehow even better than Spider-Man, Secret Wars will definitely make three billion dollars, no doubt.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: I have no doubt in that.
- 10:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I'm more thinking of like a couple of the theories that I've heard, I which I don't think are gonna be true, but if there's a couple of the theories that I that I've heard are gonna happen, I don't think people will be happy with it and wouldn't want to go again.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Almost every theory I've heard has been true so far, and this might be the first Avengers movie I watch more than once in theaters.
- 10:32SPEAKER_04: I just so the the one that I don't want to happen is uh that uh spoiler, anyways, keep going.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, spoiler.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: The theory, uh it's a theory anyway, it's not proven.
- 10:44SPEAKER_04: Is it a spoiler if we don't know?
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna I'm gonna say spoiler because I know a lot of theories that have that are actually true.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna say spoiler in this case.
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: The theory I don't want to be true is that it's not actually RDJ as doom.
- 11:02SPEAKER_04: It's a dude that's dressed as another dude playing another dude type of scenario where he like shape shifted into Tony Stark.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, that theory is not true.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna let you know, that theory's not true.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: That dude, I I was so worried because every other theory I've heard has also come out to be true that I know of.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:23SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, I hope that one's not true.
- 11:25SPEAKER_04: But if that one was true, no way it's making true.
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: Because everybody would be so mad.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: So that is Victor Von Doom.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: That is someone that looks exactly like Tony Stark.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing that's weird about it, though, and this is where the spoilers come in.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: So if you don't want to hear anything, uh just skip forward.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: Um, and I know, Cody, you could care less about this, so I don't care about you.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Um there is, I'm gonna say 99% chance just because of a comment that was made by an actor recently.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: There's a 99% chance in this movie we don't see Doctor Doom's face.
- 12:03SPEAKER_04: I'm okay with that.
- 12:04SPEAKER_04: I did hear that one too.
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: I'm okay with that.
- 12:06SPEAKER_04: I'm okay with that.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Now it's turning into the audience will see his face, but the characters in the movie won't.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: So that's the okay with that.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm also okay with that too.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: But um anyway, but yeah, no, that shapeshifter one, that's that's completely false.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: That's not a thing.
- 12:28SPEAKER_04: Okay, thank God.
- 12:29SPEAKER_04: I just heard that and I was like, I hope that's not the right thing.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: No, that's now.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, we might get something where like Mystique might do something like that, you know, and that makes sense, and that could be where that rumor is coming from.
- 12:43SPEAKER_04: This one, the one I heard was like it was uh Killian Murphy who actually like stole some of his mom's powers, found out that RDJ like was the main reason that caused all this.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: No, that's all false.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's all false.
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: I was like, um that's a terrible way to start that.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Really quick because the the relevant timer is going down.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Well, what makes me think that this might make um three billion dollars?
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: Um, as I'm gonna go back to the numbers don't lie thing.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Uh Infinity War uh worldwide grossed uh two point zero five billion dollars.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: And then just a year later, Endgame grossed two point seven nine billion dollars.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm not talking about the re-releases about Avatar and Endgame going back and forth.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: I'm just talking about its original run.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: So if 2.79, we'll just say 2.80 is uh what Doomsday needs to beat, I think it's going to easily beat that, which then only leaves uh 20 to 10 uh or I guess uh 200 to 100 million dollars left to get 300 milli to get three billion.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: So that's the only reason why I'm thinking it it actually might, just because of those numbers alone and the hype behind it.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: We're getting the we are getting the hype back for Marvel.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Some people are some people are actually in the in the cinematic circles are even saying Marvel's back already.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: They're saying after Spider-Man, Marvel's back.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: They're also saying that a lot of people that fell off the bandwagon that were just like, this is stupid, this is too much, TV shows, movies, it's all bad.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: What the flip was that?
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Uh moth just hit my fan and then hit my hand.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Anyways, a lot of people that fell out the bandwagon in the past year and a half are back on the bandwagon or actually buying tickets to go see Doomsday.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: So between what people are saying in the circles, between what the box office people are saying, and then by the numbers of Infinity War and Endgame, I think this actually does have a realistic chance of getting 3 billion, only if it's a good movie.
- 15:11SPEAKER_04: Let's test your theory.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: Hey Cody, have you bought tickets yet?
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Hell no.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: I bought your ticket.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: So have you have you bought back into Marvel yet?
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: No, I haven't bought back into Marvel for over a decade.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say, like, this dude fell off at like Thor 2 and went, I'm done with this.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: So like he fell off before like Age of Ultron, I think.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: He doesn't count.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: I fell off that doesn't count.
- 15:41SPEAKER_02: Technically, the last like thing I really watched in succession would have been Civil War.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was that was still pretty early at this rate.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was kind of early, yeah.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: Um, there's a car in the background.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: I'm in my converted garage that's a studio, but I lent out my AC to a friend who needed it.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: So my garage is open right now.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: So if you guys hear a car or children playing in the background, that's why, because it's a hundred degrees outside, and I am not gonna cook in here uh while recording this.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: So just I mean, that's more for the audience.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: That's more for the audience than anything.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Let him cook.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Let him cook.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Okay, but sticking on to box office records and the Marvel Universe, this is where I was wrong again.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: And or I might I might be wrong, and I can admit when I'm wrong, okay.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: That's what a gentleman does.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: Only if you're actually wrong, though.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Only if I'm actually wrong, yeah.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Like AVP is a great movie, so like there you go.
- 16:47SPEAKER_04: No, it's not.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: So I'm talking.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: So in in a previous episode, I had said that the record for the highest domestic box office in cinematic history is Star Wars Episode 7, The Force Awakens, at$936 million, which is wild.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: It made like half of its box office domestically alone.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: And the and the theory was okay, uh, Spider-Man keeps breaking all these records and everything.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Can it break the domestic record?
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: And I was like, absolutely not.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: School's starting.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: I know we have a three-day weekend coming up, but like it's I I think we're I think it's it's had its course.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: It might make a few million here or there, but whatever.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I could be wrong.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: So right now, so we have Force Awakens at 936 million.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Uh Spider-Man, Spider-Man's now at 123 million domestic.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: That sounds like a pretty big gap there, John.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: 936 to 923.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: You said 123.
- 17:58SPEAKER_04: You definitely said 123.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: This is my, this is my, oh gosh.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: I don't even have confidence about reading like this news.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: This is just me getting wrong.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: 936 million versus 923 million.
- 18:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, it still needs another 13 mil, which I'm not saying isn't easily doable for a movie like Spider-Man, but with how long it's been out already to this point, it's not gonna be easy.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: I don't think it'll money to get in what?
- 18:35SPEAKER_04: So like a month.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: So this past Monday, Sunday, Saturday, and Friday, it made five million, seven million, six million, and three million.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: If it has another solid weekend, like it'll hit it pretty easily.
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: It's just how like how much more drop-off are we gonna see?
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Well, the lowest it's ever made was September 3rd.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: So here's what's crazy.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: September 2nd and September 3rd were the two lowest days of Spider-Man brand new day, and it got second place in the box office to the Odyssey that got first in both of those days, which is wild because that was a that was a Wednesday and a Thursday.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: So that was weird.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: The lowest that Spider-Man's ever made is$1,632,304.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: So far.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously it's gonna keep going down.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Um if we're looking at averages the last month, it's averaging about eight to ten million dollars a day.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: I mean, if it can stay even half that, then like it could break it this weekend, but we'll have to see.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Well, we do have Practical Magic 2 coming out this weekend.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's actually going to affect the box office a lot.
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: I know I just realized my camera was on the bottom of my iPad the whole time.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's hilarious.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: I didn't notice that at all.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Um I don't know.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: I know I talk about numbers a lot.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: Um, it looks like during the week you start seeing single digits, but then during the weekend you see double digits again.
- 20:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: And then singles and then doubles.
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: This past weekend was the first time we only had single digits.
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: So the longer it's out, the more likely that is.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: And that's single digits, as in like seven, like I said, like seven million, five million, six million.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Like that's still in that's still intense.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: The last time it made double digits was ten million dollars, and that was two Saturdays ago.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: So and within the past month, it made like that's highest gross was like$22 million.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: So I don't know.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: I really don't know.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: I think it actually has a chance now to break that record.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: I'd agree.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: It is chance.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: It's just gonna be how strong is that chance.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't know.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: I might be with you guys on this one.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: I think it might be going downhill, but I could be wrong about it.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Realistically, like if it has say this weekend does ten mil on the weekend as a whole.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: So I mean that's basically three million a day on average, just over that, which is obviously quite a bit less than last weekend.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: Then after that, I mean it would need to do another three million just to get to it.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: And really, I mean, that would be another like one mil per day.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, in two weekends, we're basically saying it does like four million a day, and that's just on the weekends.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: So I'm not gonna say it's a bad chance.
- 21:57SPEAKER_02: I think it probably gets there.
- 21:59SPEAKER_02: I just think it's gonna be.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: A little tighter than what it might have looked like at one point because I don't think like it's got crazy legs left on it.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: So I don't either.
- 22:10SPEAKER_04: It's definitely gonna be a slog fest.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: I will say it's only been number two three times.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: The opening day of Insidious, it was number two, and then September 3rd and 4th, it was number two.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Ever since it started, it's always been number one in the box office.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Which I think is crazy.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Um, I will say this weekend, this weekend is practical magic two, runner, and don't look back in anger.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: The only one I even know of on that is practical magic two, but I don't know if the other ones like are gonna be maybe like some small indie thing that does crazy numbers.
- 22:53SPEAKER_04: No, runner is like the kidnapped mom's kid, and they're gonna kill her if she does kill them if they don't do what they tell her to do.
- 23:04SPEAKER_04: Think of like phone booth, taken insert any of those truths.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know nothing about runner.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: Isn't that the one with Owen Wilson?
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: You don't know.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Okay, I wasn't.
- 23:19SPEAKER_04: I thought this one was something different because you're thinking of the angel production one.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: Am I yeah, no, this one's Owen Wilson.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: When a critical medical delivery makes him and his unlikely partner, Owen Wilson the target.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: That's weird.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Alan Richard and Owen Wilson, the targets of the ruthless cartel, as the mission spirals into a deadly manhunt, every detour, delay, and bullet pushes them closer to failure.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: With Petra closing in from every side, they must survive the chase and deliver their cargo to save the life of a little girl.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: That sounds intense.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'll watch that.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: I knew nothing about that movie till right now.
- 24:16SPEAKER_05: Alan Richmond and John Wilson.
- 24:20SPEAKER_04: Definitely not me.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: I am looking for a day within the next few weeks where I'm just gonna take the day and be at the movie theater and really take advantage all day of my Regal Unlimited.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: And I might do it on a Saturday because they usually open around like eight or nine on a Saturday.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: Just be there from when they open just be there from when they open till like the last showing they have.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: So it's a lot of time in one building.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: It is, and it's gonna be a lot of refillable popcorns and sodas that I'll probably get sick.
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: But uh I'm planning that with my friend that I do the tailgates with.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: So it'll be like my birth, it's gonna be like my birthday gift to him.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: So hopefully we get something down.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: But anyways, that's neither here or there.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: That's everything I got of relevant news.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure if you guys have anything for relevance.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: Two things, nothing crazy going on with them yet, but even more nerdy within the pop culture realm.
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: We've got two updates on uh D projects going on.
- 25:28SPEAKER_02: Hasbro has said that they do want to make a second DD movie, even after the unfortunate commercial failure of Honor Among Thieves.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: Part of that being just the release timing of it being right before Super Mario didn't really help it.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: But they are looking for a new studio they don't want to work with Paramount again, so they're trying to find somebody new to take it on.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: That's kind of all we have on that one, so it's in the works just super early.
- 25:59SPEAKER_02: It's probably gonna be a couple years until we see the next one.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: The other thing is that uh we are getting a Netflix series also in development to uh develop the Dungeons and Dragons Ravenloft series.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: It's set to be produced by Alfonso Carano, and also it's being written by one of the guys who helped write Corp Brighton Big Fish John August.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: So I don't know anything about Dungeons and Dragons.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: What is the Raven theory?
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: The Ravenloft.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: Uh so the main thing with that is, and I haven't gotten super into a lot of like the actual story stuff with DD.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: I've mostly just played like homebrew stuff, but that's the one that involves the Curse of Strad.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: And for most DD people, that campaign is like the biggest, most like daunting campaign you can do.
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: Very few actual people have ever finished that full campaign.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: Huh.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: So it should be a cool one if they can get it done.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: It doesn't say if it's going to be live action or animated, but you know, that's at least two new DD series that well, a series and a movie that hopefully we'll be getting at some point in the future.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: So for DD fans, that's pretty exciting.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: I really liked Otter Amongst Thieves, and I'm not a DD guy at all, and that made me want to be a DD guy.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna lie about that.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, I thought the movie was phenomenal.
- 27:35SPEAKER_02: It's just with it coming out literally less than a full week before Mario, because Mario came out, I believe it was like Easter weekend, so it got an early release.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: It cut in even more on it.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: I think it was only out for like four days before that early release of Mario, so that really ate into box office potential on it.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: Well, it also didn't help that the last Dungeons and Dragons movie that came out, I think was like in the 80s or 90s, and it had, I think, Tom Hanks in it, and it was like the worst movie ever.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it had been a while since uh It had Ben Kingsley in it.
- 28:13SPEAKER_04: It was like late 90s, early 2000s.
- 28:16SPEAKER_04: It had Ben Kingsley and uh two other people.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: For some reason I thought Tom Hanks was I don't know.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: Um I just though I haven't seen it just because people are like, that's a terrible movie, and I'm like, okay, I'm not gonna watch it.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: Um my my favorite thing about Honors Amongst Thieves is that the director did say that the cast did play a game of Dungeons and Dragons before filming.
- 28:39SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: And and he was and somebody asked him, like, oh, is there anything that happened in that campaign happened in the movie?
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: And the director goes, I'm not gonna tell you what happens, but there was a scene involving a bridge, and somebody rolled a one.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: And then I finally so like I was like, Oh, I'm really excited to see this.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: That sounds hilarious.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: Finally, seeing that movie and seeing the bridge scene, I was like, that is hilarious what they did with that.
- 29:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: No, it Honor Among Thieves hits a lot of like the things you expect out of D D, and it does a phenomenal job of it.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: I wish it had better commercial success so that we could be getting, you know, another movie sooner, but sometimes that's just how things go.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: Uh Alex, you got anything for relevant news?
- 29:34SPEAKER_04: I doubt this week.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: Well, that's everything for relevance.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Let us know what you guys think about these things.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: Let us know how correct or wrong we were, and you know, again, a few weeks from now, we'll see what happens.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: So leave a comment.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: Um all right, Alex, I'm done.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: You can take it away with the episode.
- 29:55SPEAKER_04: Well, kind of on a dovetail.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: Uh Cody has got it pulled up for the upcoming movies for the rest of the year, and we're gonna tell you what we think are best options out of those movies coming up.
- 30:14SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 30:14SPEAKER_04: And what we think will happen.
- 30:17SPEAKER_04: So, Cody, what's coming out?
- 30:19SPEAKER_02: So, starting off this Wednesday, which is also uh kickoff to the new NFL season, so I don't know how well box office numbers will do for it.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: We have we actually talked about it earlier.
- 30:31SPEAKER_02: Uh, we have Hope coming out on September 9th.
- 30:36SPEAKER_02: Little weird getting that one in the middle of the week, but apparently that's a midweek release on it.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: The big thing for this cover.
- 30:44SPEAKER_04: I wonder if that's because it's go ahead.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: I wonder if that's because it's I wonder if that's because it's Thursday in China.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: Oh maybe, but I wouldn't think that would affect like when they release it here, but I don't actually know.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: Other than that, I mean we've kind of talked a little bit about what this weekend has, mentioning practical magic 2 runner and don't look back in anchor.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: There's a couple other things.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: I assume those are probably our three biggest ones, though, for this weekend.
- 31:18SPEAKER_02: I don't know if anybody's looking forward to any of those.
- 31:22SPEAKER_04: I really hope Hope does good because it looks good.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Hope looks interesting.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: I again I don't know anything about Don't Look Back or Runner.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I am looking forward to Practical Magic 2.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna make sure that I do see that.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: I missed my chance to see End of Oak Street, but I am gonna make sure that I see uh practical magic too.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: I need to rewatch the first one, I don't remember it a lot.
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: Um, but I am going to see the second one.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: I actually think I have a practical magic movie poster, actually.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: So I think it's I think it's behind me.
- 31:59SPEAKER_04: So I'm definitely what it's got my girl it's got my girl in it.
- 32:04SPEAKER_04: Which one is Sandy B.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: Oh Sandy B.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: You're not a Nicole Kidman guy?
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not a Nicole Kidman.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: Hey, two each is their own.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: I like them both for their acting, of course.
- 32:21SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 32:23SPEAKER_02: I don't know, box office-wise, if either one, like any of those are really gonna make much of a dent.
- 32:28SPEAKER_02: I would assume practical magic 2 is gonna be the big one on the weekend, unless, like, you know, it's still Spider-Man or something.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: But for new movies, I'd say Practical Magic this weekend.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: I think Practical Magic is gonna make between$10 and$15 million this weekend.
- 32:46SPEAKER_05: That's not a bad opening.
- 32:47SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 32:50SPEAKER_05: I'll go out on a limb.
- 32:52SPEAKER_05: I think Hope's gonna crush it.
- 32:54SPEAKER_05: How much do you think Hope is gonna make?
- 32:59SPEAKER_05: Domestically?
- 33:00SPEAKER_05: Uh just open yeah, opening box office domestic, yeah.
- 33:06SPEAKER_05: I'll go 15 to 20.
- 33:08SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking to twenty.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: That's probably like uh just because it is a it is still a foreign language film from what I could tell in the trailers.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: I don't think any of it's in English, so I don't know how well it's gonna do here.
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but it's the director though.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the director who's directing it's pretty well known.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: And I'm pretty sure the director and his wife are like the aliens in the movie, too.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: So which is crazy.
- 33:43SPEAKER_00: Um I I think I think the director's name is the only thing that's it got going for it for people that aren't Cinephiles.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: I think that's I think practical magic 10 to 15 million, runner probably five million.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: I can't even guess on Don't Look Back, maybe five million, and I think Hope will do about eight to ten million.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: What's next?
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: Practical magic will really come down to if people are big enough fans of the first one to come out, if it'll do like better than that.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: It has a cult following, but that usually isn't enough to really um I say the first one didn't do that well, I didn't think.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it it did like okay.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 34:39SPEAKER_05: So next week.
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Next yeah, next week.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: September 18th.
- 34:45SPEAKER_02: Uh, we've got a re-release of Ghost in the Shell.
- 34:50SPEAKER_02: I don't know if that's gonna do much.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: We're getting apparently another Resident Evil movie, not like Resident Evil 9 or something.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: It's just it's a new Resident Evil and Sean the Stift The Mystery of Moffi Bottom.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: Yes, I'm excited about both of those.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: There's a couple other movies, but again, I think those are probably gonna be the three big ones for the week.
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: Well, the re-release is hard to say, but being Ghost in the Shell, like it's at least got a decent following to it.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but the problem is I think it's gonna cut into the Resident Evil fans because it's gonna cross-pollinate with their fans.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: I think so too.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: I think 100% that's what's gonna happen.
- 35:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but being a re-release, I don't like and that probably be like your Resident Evil fans just don't go to it because they're like, well, it's a re-release, I can go watch that at home.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: Well, see, well, that's what I was doing.
- 35:49SPEAKER_04: Well, I can say I was gonna say that for the uh Ghosts in the Shell people.
- 35:55SPEAKER_04: I was gonna say the Ghosts in the Shell people would be like, ah, we own Ghosts in the Shell.
- 35:59SPEAKER_04: Let's just go to the new Resident Evil.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: No, I don't think so at all.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: I think the Ghosts of the Shell people are gonna go see Resident Evil.
- 36:05SPEAKER_00: I think Ghost of the Shell is gonna be five million at mu at most.
- 36:09SPEAKER_05: That's what I just said.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay, yeah.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: I I yeah.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Resident Evil is gonna do better by far than Ghost in a Shell.
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, 100%.
- 36:24SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm saying.
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't think Ghost in the Shell is really gonna do that into it.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: Maybe, I don't know.
- 36:30SPEAKER_02: I don't keep up with that franchise at all.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm not into the Claymation, so I'm not sure how those typically do.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: What does Claymation have to do with either of those?
- 36:43SPEAKER_05: Sean the Sheep's Claymation.
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: Uh it's the Scarlet Johansson Ghost in a Shell live action movie.
- 36:52SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's definitely not doing better than Resident Evil.
- 36:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:56SPEAKER_04: That's not the anime.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: You guys thought it was the anime.
- 36:59SPEAKER_00: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: It's the Scarlet Johansson one that came out.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: I'm honestly surprised that they're doing a re-release.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: Like, that didn't do great the first time around.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: No, but people do say it's one of the most underappreciated movies out there.
- 37:19SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: So I don't know that's what I'm saying.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't know.
- 37:25SPEAKER_04: People didn't like it.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: So I didn't know about this re-release until during Pleasantries, I got on my social media and it popped up, and the person that shared it was like one of the most um underrated and unappreciated films, and then I got into comments and people were like, Why didn't people like this film?
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's just the one percent of people out there that saw the film, but like they're starting to advertise it because it showed up on my algorithm.
- 37:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 37:56SPEAKER_05: So I'm that's gonna be great.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: I'm excited for Resident Evil and Sean the Sheep that weekend.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: I'm not even gonna lie about that.
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: I love Sean the Sheep.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: Best stuff ever.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: If you've guys never watched it, just watch it.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: Resident Evil, I like this take on it because it's from the gamers' point of view and not the storyline point of view.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: Where this guy needs to actually he needs like in the video game, you only have so many slots to hold things, so you have to pick and choose.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: Cool if you pick up a gun, you gotta find the ammo for it, and then you're just put into the situation where you don't know what's going on.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: And I think that's a great take on Resident Evil.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: So I am so ready for that.
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: Hopefully, it's better received than Welcome to Raccoon City, because that one did not do great.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: I don't even remember that one, to be honest.
- 38:59SPEAKER_02: It was supposed to be a more faithful adaptation of the games, and I think it technically was, but people just didn't like it.
- 39:09SPEAKER_04: Because they smashed like the first two together, basically.
- 39:18SPEAKER_05: I will defer to you all on the sheet because I'm not into it.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: Uh I think it'll do better than Resident Evil.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, there's an actual argument to be made for that.
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm thinking of the Resident Evil TV show that came out on Netflix.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: Not the Raccoon City one.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was bull crap.
- 39:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's on Netflix.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's what this one is.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I completely forgot about Welcome to Raccoon City.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 39:59SPEAKER_00: That came out but a few years ago.
- 40:01SPEAKER_00: And it, yeah, it sucked.
- 40:04SPEAKER_00: I didn't even watch it.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: Everyone was like, don't watch it.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: Wow, yeah, I kind of want to watch it now.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: Alright, what's coming up after that?
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, um uh 20 million, I think, for Resident Evil, by the way.
- 40:20SPEAKER_00: 20 million for Resident Evil, 10 million for Son of the Sheep.
- 40:23SPEAKER_00: That's my guess.
- 40:25SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 40:27SPEAKER_02: After that, we've got the Avengers Endgame Encore, or just endgame re-release, whatever you want to call it.
- 40:33SPEAKER_02: That's basically what it is.
- 40:35SPEAKER_02: Obviously, we've talked about the fact that it's not a full re-release because they've added stuff, but essentially it's endgame re-release.
- 40:43SPEAKER_02: There's a couple other things that we can.
- 40:45SPEAKER_02: The only other thing I think is gonna do much just looking title-wise, is probably Forgotten Island.
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: I've at least seen a decent amount of like trailers and stuff for that one.
- 40:56SPEAKER_00: That comes out in like three weeks.
- 40:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 41:02SPEAKER_00: I I am with Alex.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: That looks fun.
- 41:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: It looks like a good kids' movie.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: I think it'll be a good one in the middle of the year.
- 41:11SPEAKER_02: Usually, you know, your big ones, as always, are like end of the year during the summer kind of stuff.
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: But I think that looks like a good like in-between season kind of movie.
- 41:24SPEAKER_00: So I'm intrigued by this one.
- 41:28unknown: Okay.
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: No, go ahead.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: You you finish your thought, and I'll tell you why I'm intrigued.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: There's several other movies that we can like.
- 41:34SPEAKER_02: We've got Charlie Harper, but I don't I don't think I've seen anything about that one.
- 41:39SPEAKER_02: Uh Hot Chan, Shake Your Booty.
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: I don't know anything about that one.
- 41:44SPEAKER_02: Heart of East Primetime and the Stunt Driver all come out that weekend, but again, I haven't seen anything on any of those.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: Primetime is gonna do amazing.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: I think that's I think Primetime will be the most I think Primetime will be the most underrated film of the year.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: But I but I also think it's gonna be amazing.
- 42:05SPEAKER_00: I think no one's gonna go see it, and it's gonna be stupid.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: Which one's Primetime?
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: The one about uh with with Robert Pattinson about to catch a predator.
- 42:14SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's it.
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's what that one is.
- 42:18unknown: Yeah.
- 42:18SPEAKER_02: I don't know what the name of it was.
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: Okay, I've seen a little bit about that.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: I could agree with you then.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: That reason alone of that conversation we just had is why I'm like, no one's gonna go see it, but it's gonna be amazing, and it's gonna be the most underappreciated movie of this year.
- 42:35SPEAKER_00: So is my guess.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: Um Forgotten Island, I am intrigued about for two reasons.
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: One, John Campia said it's the best animated film he's seen.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: And two, that is one of like two films they showed at Cinemacon this year.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: And not only did they show that film at Cinemacon this year, which also which shows how much confidence they have in the film, to show even more how much confidence they have in it, the animation wasn't even 100% done in the film when they showed it to the movie owners, the theater owners.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: But they had so much confidence in it.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: They're like, We're we're gonna show you guys this movie in its fullness.
- 43:18unknown: Uh-huh.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: The animation's not even done.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: Some of it was like pencil sketch art in some scenes, or some of it you could tell just wasn't finished animation.
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: But they have so much confidence in this movie that uh they decided to you know pull the trigger and do that.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: So that alone has made me intrigued and be like, how good is this movie?
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: Where they're they have so much faith in it, they showed an unfinished version to all the theater owners this year.
- 43:48SPEAKER_02: That's what do you think in box office was for it?
- 43:54SPEAKER_02: Obviously, you know, friends just this time of year are Aren't usually great doesn't mean something couldn't, you know, break out of that trend.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Just didn't know what your thoughts were since you keep up with a little bit more.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say I almost said twenty to forty million.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: Honestly, I think it's gonna be like thirty to forty million dollar opening weekend.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: For Brown Island.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: No, actually, no, no, actually, I no.
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: I think it's gonna be I think it's gonna be one of those crazy eighty million dollars that happens this year.
- 44:29SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say it.
- 44:30SPEAKER_00: I think it's gonna be I was playing it way too safe.
- 44:32SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be an eighty million dollar opening weekend.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: For middle between seasons, I think most theaters would be pretty happy if it could hit that.
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: Well, they've been advertising it so much.
- 44:45SPEAKER_00: Every kid's movie I've seen this year, starting at Toy Story 5 and then Minions and then Acme vs.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: Coyote and then everything in between.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: I think even at like a Spider-Man showing, they've been showing that trailer nonstop since like the beginning of summer.
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: So all of the summer box office, you have seen that trailer, and it's been all over my social media too.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: I think I think this is going to do better than we anticipate, and I think it's gonna make$80 million opening weekend.
- 45:16SPEAKER_05: Is that DreamWorks, by the way?
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: I think it is DreamWorks, actually.
- 45:20SPEAKER_05: I think it's something wild like that.
- 45:21SPEAKER_05: It does look like it.
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: I'll look that up real quick while Cody moves forward.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: We're good with that weekend.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: Nobody got any more input on end of September box office.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: Uh go watch Sean's Sheep.
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: You will not regret it.
- 45:39SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: Uh kicking off October.
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: Again, there's a couple movies.
- 45:45SPEAKER_02: I don't know that any of them to start the month are gonna be great.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: The biggest one, because it's got an iMap, looks like it's something called Digger.
- 45:55SPEAKER_05: Oh, Digger! Tom Cruise movie.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: And then we're either of you seen trailers for Digger?
- 46:05SPEAKER_00: I have.
- 46:06SPEAKER_04: It's not gonna be my movie.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, really?
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: The other one's that weekend or Beware Bayona.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: I don't really know.
- 46:20SPEAKER_02: Can't really tell how I pronounce that one.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: Rolling Loud the movie and Verity.
- 46:27SPEAKER_00: Verity looks terrifying.
- 46:31SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: I don't know if any of those are expected to do much box office-wise.
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen anything on any of them.
- 46:41SPEAKER_04: Verity might do good just because it's a horror movie and it's getting into October.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: And it's uh Anne Hathaway.
- 46:52SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 46:53SPEAKER_04: Oh really?
- 46:54SPEAKER_04: That's Anne Hathaway.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that is.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: And it's terrifying.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: Always a good choice.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm gonna here's the thing about Digger.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: People are saying, and and everyone knows Ryan Gosling is gonna be nominated for Actor of the Year.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: Probably won't get it, but for Project Hail Mary.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: Clearly, Matt Damon is gonna be nominated.
- 47:17SPEAKER_00: But not gonna lie, everyone in the movie circles are saying that Digger not only is Tom Cruise gonna get nominated for Actor of the Year, he is somehow by a miracle going to beat uh Matt Damon, and this will be his first Oscar for Actor of the Year.
- 47:41SPEAKER_00: So I I don't know if that means it's gonna be.
- 47:44SPEAKER_04: He didn't get one for he didn't get one for Jerry McGuire.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: No, no, Tom Cruise has never gotten an Academy Award.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: No, he's never gotten one.
- 47:53SPEAKER_04: No, I'm saying was that Cuba Gooding Jr.
- 47:55SPEAKER_04: that got it for that.
- 47:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, I don't know to be honest.
- 47:59SPEAKER_04: But um I could have sworn he got one.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm pretty sure Tom Cruise has never won one.
- 48:05SPEAKER_00: I'm I'll I I'll I'll check that up.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, he's never won a major Academy Award for Actor of the Year.
- 48:26SPEAKER_00: So people are saying this is it.
- 48:28SPEAKER_00: That doesn't mean people are gonna go see the movie, doesn't mean it's gonna be good.
- 48:31SPEAKER_00: There was that movie The Rock did last year, that MMA one, where people are like, this is the best acting job The Rock has ever done, and no one saw it, but that doesn't mean the Academy Award didn't acknowledge it.
- 48:42SPEAKER_04: Um he was nominated for Jerry McGuire.
- 48:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he no, he's been nominated so much Tom has uh Tom Cruise.
- 48:51SPEAKER_00: I don't know him, so I'm not calling him Tom.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: Uh but yeah, no, Digger is one of my most anticipated movies of the year, solely for the fact that people think that Tom Cruise will finally win his Academy Award.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: Everyone already knows it's gonna be be between Tom Cruise and Matt Damon, with uh Ryan Gosling as Matt Damon.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: Uh I don't know if it'll do good.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: It's rated R, it's crude humor.
- 49:19SPEAKER_00: Uh the storyline looks really interesting, though.
- 49:22SPEAKER_00: And uh I'm I'm all for it with John Goodman.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: So, like Tom Cruise and John Goodman.
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: Like, I I don't know how you could go wrong with that.
- 49:32SPEAKER_05: Well, that's fair.
- 49:35SPEAKER_02: So we'll go through some just of the big ones coming up because I know we're probably getting kind of late on time, and there's still a lot of movies coming up.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's my fault.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: I don't know, whereas uh week after that, I think the big one is probably other mommy.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: Oh, that looks terrifying.
- 49:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I've seen creditors on that one.
- 49:59SPEAKER_05: That looks freaky.
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: I'm intrigued by it, but I don't know.
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: I might I'm a little I'm a chicken, and I might be a little too chicken to go watch that.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: That's single to my mother.
- 50:15SPEAKER_00: I don't think it is, Alex.
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: I think it's its own standalone thing.
- 50:20SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: Well, a week after that, the big one for sure is gonna be Street Fighter.
- 50:27SPEAKER_02: I think the other big one, just because your name will be Sense and Sensibility.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: I know it's a pretty big book, so I assume both of those will kind of be fighting for number one.
- 50:40SPEAKER_00: I'm actually looking forward to Sense and Sensibility.
- 50:44SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna lie about that.
- 50:46SPEAKER_00: I don't even know why.
- 50:47SPEAKER_00: Nothing wrong with that.
- 50:50SPEAKER_02: Hey, nothing wrong with that.
- 50:51SPEAKER_02: I assume those will be our two big ones.
- 50:54SPEAKER_02: Street Fighter being more of the just turn your brain off kind of movie.
- 50:57SPEAKER_02: Sense and Sensibility would be more like pushing for that kind of Oscar spot.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm gonna I'm gonna order like six or seven hot dogs to watch Street Fighter.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking maybe I should do the same thing for sense and sensibility and judge each movie based off of how I how well I'm enjoying the hot dogs while while watching them.
- 51:24SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna say you can't 12 to judge the movies.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: Just watch them back to back, and I'm just hosing down 12 hot dogs.
- 51:36SPEAKER_00: 12 to 14 hot dogs.
- 51:38SPEAKER_04: I gotta I gotta I gotta tell you something whenever we're done with this episode about a hot dog place.
- 51:44SPEAKER_04: Me and you need to go to, but we'll do it.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: I'm a hot dog guy.
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: Let's do it.
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: You think I'm a movie guy?
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: Let's get talking about hot dogs.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: I could do a whole podcast about hot dogs, dude.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: Anyways.
- 51:54SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 51:55SPEAKER_00: Hey, uh write that down.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: Podcast idea.
- 51:57SPEAKER_00: Hot dogs.
- 51:58SPEAKER_00: Anyways.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 52:01SPEAKER_02: Uh week after that, the big one is for sure gonna be Clayface.
- 52:08SPEAKER_05: Ooh, yeah.
- 52:10SPEAKER_00: Are we all watching that together?
- 52:12SPEAKER_05: Uh sure.
- 52:14SPEAKER_00: I'm down.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 52:16SPEAKER_02: I'm down for it.
- 52:17SPEAKER_02: It looks cool as hell.
- 52:20SPEAKER_02: Also, it'd be interesting to see how they try and tie it in DC wise, because I'm not sure what like I know Clayface clearly in DC, but I'm not sure what's going on in this movie specifically.
- 52:33SPEAKER_00: Uh it's terrifying, that's what.
- 52:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:37SPEAKER_04: Body horror.
- 52:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: Everyone at Cinemacon was talking about a scene involving an eye, some scissors, and an airplane with turbulence.
- 52:50SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, and everyone, everyone at Cinemacon wouldn't shut up about that, but that's all they said.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: And then they finally showed that in the trailer, and I was like, I don't know if I want to watch this movie because that looks I don't that's one of those things where like it's gonna be so messed up you can't look away, but you really wished you did.
- 53:08SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't know.
- 53:09SPEAKER_05: I'm probably accurate.
- 53:13SPEAKER_02: The last weekend for October, I just don't know if it's got a lot going on.
- 53:19SPEAKER_02: I think really there's two things getting an expanded release.
- 53:23SPEAKER_02: I don't think those are gonna do a ton for the box office.
- 53:26SPEAKER_02: Otherwise, it's between Christmas at the Kringles and the Mongoose.
- 53:33SPEAKER_04: How are you releasing a Christmas movie on Halloween?
- 53:36SPEAKER_02: It's not a Christmas movie.
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: It's another Christmas horror movie.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: I I know nothing about it.
- 53:44SPEAKER_00: I know nothing about it.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: I don't know about either of those projects.
- 53:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:58unknown: Yeah.
- 53:59SPEAKER_02: But that's not uncommon for October, unless it's like for time before Halloween.
- 54:06SPEAKER_02: Like a lot of times it does seem like that weekend before is when the big one comes out to get ready for Halloween.
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:14SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 54:16SPEAKER_02: Well, and hopefully they're re-released this year.
- 54:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 54:23SPEAKER_02: I think Resident Evil keep going just with the specific timing of release.
- 54:27SPEAKER_02: I think Clayface will be the big one for Halloween weekend itself.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: Definitely.
- 54:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, but if Resident Evil keeps going, think about that back-to-back um Clayface and Resident Evil.
- 54:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that could be a good double feature for people.
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: By the way, really quick, before people think I'm rude, I'm not cutting off Cody.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: We're doing this through Discord, and so there's a bit of a delay.
- 54:55SPEAKER_00: So I when I think he's done talking, and when he thinks I'm done talking, we interrupt each other.
- 55:01SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, anyways.
- 55:02SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 55:03SPEAKER_00: Cody, please continue.
- 55:04SPEAKER_02: November.
- 55:06SPEAKER_02: November's kicking all the reasons to this one.
- 55:09SPEAKER_02: V for vendetta.
- 55:11SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 55:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 55:13SPEAKER_02: Again, re-release.
- 55:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 55:18SPEAKER_02: It it is specifically coming out November 5th.
- 55:23SPEAKER_02: I just don't know.
- 55:24SPEAKER_03: Pretty time.
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: Re-releases just tend to not do a ton.
- 55:28SPEAKER_02: So, I mean, it'll probably get some people.
- 55:30SPEAKER_02: That actual weekend, though, the big movies are going to be Dr.
- 55:34SPEAKER_02: Seuss's Cat in the Hat this time, animated, not live action, and John's probably one of your most anticipated movies, Godzilla minus zero in IMAX.
- 55:46SPEAKER_00: That is going to be an incredible weekend.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: We get to see V for Vendetta, we get to see the Cat in the Hat, and then we get to close it all off with Godzilla.
- 55:55SPEAKER_00: What the heck else could you ask for in life?
- 55:59SPEAKER_00: That is a wild lineup of movies.
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: Cody, have you seen V for Vendetta?
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: I have not.
- 56:08SPEAKER_03: You know the answer.
- 56:10SPEAKER_00: Let's add that officially to your list and let's go watch it when it comes out.
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, by then I'll be needing new stuff anyway, so yeah, we'll put it on the list for when it comes out.
- 56:23SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 56:24SPEAKER_00: Alex, can you put that down next to the hot dog podcast on the list, please?
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 56:30SPEAKER_05: Be looking forward to that hot dog podcast.
- 56:34SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be great.
- 56:36SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I think I mean I would assume Godzilla would be the big one that weekend.
- 56:43SPEAKER_02: I think Dr.
- 56:43SPEAKER_02: Seuss obviously do great.
- 56:46SPEAKER_02: I mean, those movies tend to usually do pretty well, but I think after the last Godzilla, the hype for it's about as high as it's been in a long time.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: So Godzilla minus one made a total of like$50 million in its America theatrical run, which is incredible because it wasn't even supposed to have an American theatrical run.
- 57:10SPEAKER_00: I think, and this I know I'm being crazy.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: I think Godzilla Minus Zero will make 50 million on its opening weekend already equaling to the domestic run.
- 57:28SPEAKER_02: I don't think you're wrong, honestly.
- 57:31SPEAKER_02: I think minus one got a lot of people excited about what Godzilla could be again.
- 57:40SPEAKER_00: And I'm already in talks with my uh guy over at uh Regal Cinemas of getting a minus zero poster to go with my minus one poster that you gave me, Cody.
- 57:57SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 58:02SPEAKER_02: We got those two.
- 58:03SPEAKER_02: The following week, we've got Ebenezer a Christmas Carol.
- 58:08SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure what's going on.
- 58:09SPEAKER_02: No, that's a Johnny Depp one.
- 58:11SPEAKER_02: So have you not seen anything on that movie?
- 58:15SPEAKER_02: No, I haven't seen much on it.
- 58:17SPEAKER_02: We can probably dive deeper when we have more time.
- 58:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we'll we'll have to do that.
- 58:22SPEAKER_00: I'm looking forward to that.
- 58:23SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure about you, Alex.
- 58:25SPEAKER_02: And then we also am looking forward to that one.
- 58:27SPEAKER_02: Another one that we're getting then, and I mean, I remember seeing trailers for this forever ago.
- 58:32SPEAKER_02: I'm surprised it's just now coming out is how to rob a bank.
- 58:38SPEAKER_02: I feel like I saw trailers for that like a year ago.
- 58:43SPEAKER_00: I feel like they've been advertising that all year.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: I've seen posters for it all year.
- 58:47SPEAKER_02: Is it coming out in November?
- 58:50SPEAKER_02: November 13th is when it releases.
- 58:53SPEAKER_02: Which seems like they moved a date on it?
- 58:56SPEAKER_02: It's possible.
- 58:56SPEAKER_02: I'd have to do a deeper dive into like why that's just now coming out.
- 59:01SPEAKER_02: Because, yeah, I mean, it feels like that's had a lot of trailers.
- 59:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:09SPEAKER_05: Doesn't that have Nicholas Holt in it too?
- 59:13SPEAKER_03: Uh it's got uh oh, what's his name from SNL?
- 59:19SPEAKER_03: Pete Davidson.
- 59:21SPEAKER_00: I knew that.
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: It also has um how to rob uh bank, and now I am on a list.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that is Nicholas Holt.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:36SPEAKER_04: You know, they may have pushed it back, isn't that whole premise of that movie sticking it to big corporations?
- 59:41SPEAKER_04: And we've kind of had uh uh an incident happen last year that involved a big corporation.
- 59:50SPEAKER_04: I mean, you're not wrong.
- 59:52SPEAKER_00: I don't know what you're talking about, to be honest.
- 59:54SPEAKER_00: I my immediate thought was the paramount shenanigans going on right now.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_00: We'll talk about it later.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_02: Can't say either one of those are like great mid-November movies, but they'll probably do all right.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: Big one going into Thanksgiving weekend, not at Thanksgiving, but going into it is another Hunger Games movie, Sunrise on the Reaping.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_05: And really that weekend.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_05: Me to Hunger Games with Cody to the MCU.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's also Me to Hunger Games.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_02: I haven't kept up with those at all.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_04: I actually really like the Hunger Games.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_02: For some of our biggest movies, we could do another episode where we really dive into like what we think box office will look like based on previous, but I don't know if we got enough time to dive into some of the big movies for the year.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_00: Nah, nah.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_00: Let's finish with the year.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_04: We all know what December the big movies are.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: Jumanji.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_02: Thanksgiving Day, we're getting a new Fockers movie.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_02: We're getting Fokker in Law.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_00: Hey, language.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_02: Hey, yeah.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_02: I'm just telling you what their last name is, man.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_02: There's a couple other movies that I actually think that's gonna be really funny.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's good.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_02: The crazy thing, I don't know if you all saw this.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_02: Uh, Ben Stiller is now officially older than De Niro was in the first movie.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_00: De Niro.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_05: Nice.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_02: There's two other movies coming out, Thanksgiving Day.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_02: We've got Hershey and Hex.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_02: I don't think I've seen anything on either of those.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_02: I don't know if they're gonna do great.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_02: Hex looks cool.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_00: I didn't know I didn't know Hex was based off of a graphic novel.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_00: I hear it's a really good one, and I might just read that before watching the movie.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_02: Not a bad idea.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_00: It's like a middle school read, I think, but uh, I might watch it.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_00: I might read it.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_02: Doesn't have to be super advanced to be good.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but there comes a point where I'm like, this is too childish for me.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_02: That's also fair.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_02: Getting into December, we've got we kick it off with Violent Night Two and Above the Below.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_03: I don't know why we need Violent Night Two is funny.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_02: I don't know why we need two Christmas horror movies in the same year, but sure.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_04: What's the horror movie?
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_02: The other one was Christmas at the Kringles.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_02: Or is Violent Knight not like considered a horror movie?
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_05: No, that's like an action movie.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_05: Uh, fair enough.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_02: It feels weird to have two, like it still feels weird to have two Christmas movies that aren't really Christmas movies.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_04: Like Die Hard.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_02: Sort of, but even less Christmassy feeling.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_02: Well, I guess more Christmasy, but weirder feeling.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_02: December 11th, there's only one big release.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_02: We get zero AD.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_02: I don't know if either of you have seen anything on that one.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_04: I hope that's not a sequel to 1AD or Year One or whatever that Michael Sarah and Jack Black movie was.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, it is a religious movie.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_02: So y'all know where I'm at on that.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_05: Mm-hmm.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_02: And we'll just round out the end of the year with the like four big ones that we're getting.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_02: We've got Avengers Doomsday and Dune Part 3, same day, December 18th.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_02: December 23rd.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_00: I took off the 17th and the 18th for both of those movies.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_02: December 23rd, we get Angry Birds 3.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_02: And then Angry Birds 3, December 23rd.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_00: I did not know that.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_00: That's been under my radar.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's wild.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_02: And then Christmas Day, we get Jamanji Open World.
- 1:04:46unknown: Nice.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_02: Those are probably the like last four big movies of the year.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_02: Christmas Day also has Mr.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_02: Irrelevant.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_02: Without looking at the synopsis, I can only assume that's based off of the NFL draft and the last draft pick every year being called Mr.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_02: Irrelevant.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_02: Could be wrong.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_05: And then we also have werewolf.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_05: Is that with uh William Defoe in it?
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_02: Which one?
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_02: Werewolf or Mr.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_02: Irrelevant?
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_04: Werewolf.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_05: Um, that is a good question.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_05: Yes, it is.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_00: I believe William Defoe's in it, yeah.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to see it.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I actually follow through with it.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_00: It's the same person that did The Northmen, Nosferatu, and The Vich.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_00: Um I haven't heard of the last one.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_00: And I think the Lighthouse, too, I can't remember.
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_04: They're all just He did the He did do The Lighthouse.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_00: They're all just they're good.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_00: So here's the thing like they're good movies.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_00: Great movies.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_00: Great dark horror, dark cinema.
- 1:05:59SPEAKER_00: But like the the trailers seem a bit much for me.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_04: Um and uh they also all tell a all all of his also tell like a tale, too.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_04: Like the lighthouse was the story of Prometheus and Icarus, and uh the Northmen had to deal with I can't remember what the North He has tales in like all of them that he's like paralleling.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_00: I saw the trailer for The Witch, and I was like, absolutely not.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_00: Then I saw the a clip on YouTube, the scene when the goat is talking to Anya Taylor Joy, and I was like, absolute, absolutely not.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_00: And uh then after that, Nosveratu was the first one I wanted to see.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_00: Actually, no, it's like Lighthouse I wanted to see.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_00: The Northmen, I was like, this looks terrifying.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_00: Nosveratu, I haven't seen it yet, but maybe I'll watch Werewolf.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_00: Or it's so I watched The Lighthouse.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_04: I've well I've seen all of them, but Nosferatu.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_04: And the weirdest one's gotta be the Lighthouse.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_04: Such a weird take on a movie.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_00: I hear there's an interesting scene in it involving uh fish.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_05: That's um wild.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_05: That sounds wild.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_00: But I am looking forward to a lot of these.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_00: I am hoping that the box office keeps growing in all of these too.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_05: I mean, end of the year lineup.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_02: End of the year solid lineup as always.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, there are only a few years where like that Christmas lineup wasn't great, and that was really in the heart of COVID when anyways.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_02: Thanksgiving usually solid lineup as well.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_02: It's really that gonna be that stretch like mid-October to Thanksgiving, where we'll see what the box office does, just because there's a lot of stuff that like none of us really have seen anything on, or like, even if we have, like, it'll depend how well it actually does.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_05: Definitely.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_04: John, you got anything else?
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_00: I don't.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_00: I have a lot to think about, actually, but I don't think I have anything else.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_05: Cody?
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_05: No, nothing for me.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm Alex, and this is keeping it real.
