- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Whatever you want to talk about Wednesday, 877-99 on Fox.
- 0:23Speaker 1: That is 877-99 on Fox. We'll get to Taylor's mistake
- 0:26Speaker 1: in just a second. The new Seahawks owner. Had a
- 0:31Speaker 1: rough opening press conference. We'll get to that sound in
- 0:34Speaker 1: just a second as well. But Isaac, if you can
- 0:37Speaker 1: hear me, Ike, if you wouldn't mind coming back to
- 0:41Speaker 1: the microphone.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Oh, yes, sir. Of course. Yes.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Can you just read the Lane Kiffin story you just
- 0:46Speaker 1: gave us in the update? Just read it the way
- 0:48Speaker 1: you read it during the update. Taylor has some thoughts
- 0:51Speaker 1: on it.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Oh, I would be delighted to.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Hang on.
- 0:53Speaker 5: Let me get into character.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Authoritative.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Walter Cronkite.
- 0:57Speaker 5: Peter Jennings.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Walter Cronkite. Peter Jennings.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Vanity Fair today published an excerpt of a new book
- 1:03Speaker 5: about LSU head coach Lane Kiffin. The excerpt covered his
- 1:06Speaker 5: time as Alabama's offensive coordinator in which then head coach
- 1:10Speaker 5: Nick Saban told a staff member regarding Kiffin, quote, keep
- 1:14Speaker 5: him away from the sorority girls. Make sure they've graduated
- 1:18Speaker 5: college or are working a job, unquote. An associate of
- 1:21Speaker 5: Kiffin's also said a local bar owner called him and said, quote,
- 1:25Speaker 5: your boy Lane's back in here asking where the hotties are, unquote.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Taylor, what are we doing with Lane Kiffin where we're
- 1:35Speaker 4: reporting every possible detail in this man's life?
- 1:38Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:39Speaker 4: Sue him. He asked where the hotties are at.
- 1:42Speaker 1: We're not liking him and we're making money off of him.
- 1:44Speaker 1: That's what people are doing with Lane Kiffin.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Listen, I know people are going to call me a
- 1:48Speaker 4: lane defender and, and yes, I am a lane defender.
- 1:51Speaker 4: I'm a, I'm a go Tigers through and through. I
- 1:54Speaker 4: want Lane Kiffin to succeed at LSU because I know
- 1:57Speaker 4: what it means for college football. Sue the man. If
- 2:00Speaker 4: he's going around asking where the hotties are.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Or divorce them.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Well, that's a whole different story. I do not condone that.
- 2:10Speaker 3: That's where you draw the line?
- 2:11Speaker 7: Yes.
- 2:14Speaker 3: It's ridiculous.
- 2:15Speaker 1: What are we doing with Lane Kiffin? Lane Kiffin is
- 2:18Speaker 1: doing it to himself. He has made himself, I mean,
- 2:21Speaker 1: he's taken one of the biggest jobs in America. He
- 2:23Speaker 1: left the playoff team to take over a head coaching
- 2:27Speaker 1: position at LSU. And he has put an end, through
- 2:30Speaker 1: his actions and his words, has put himself in the spotlight.
- 2:33Speaker 1: That's where he wants to be. And when you put
- 2:35Speaker 1: yourself in the spotlight, people start reporting stuff.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Listen, but we know Lane Kiffin is a menace.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Of course.
- 2:43Speaker 4: And at LSU, I hate to say this, but at LSU,
- 2:48Speaker 4: it's almost expected from your football coaches. Brian Kelly was
- 2:52Speaker 4: the one who kind of broke the mold of not
- 2:54Speaker 4: being a menace.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Put it on the poll, Taylor. Would you want Lane
- 2:57Speaker 3: Kiffin to be your head coach? Yes or no?
- 3:01Speaker 4: Because, man, you're going to win some games.
- 3:03Speaker 3: You're going to win some games. You're going to have
- 3:05Speaker 3: reports like the one we just heard. What are my expectations?
- 3:07Speaker 1: The expectations are high because Lane makes them high. I mean,
- 3:11Speaker 1: they're high expectations, of course.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Would you want them?
- 3:14Speaker 6: Yeah, but it depends. Like, if I'm at Alabama where
- 3:18Speaker 6: the expectation is, is to win the national title every year,
- 3:22Speaker 6: then no, I probably don't want him, because Lane's.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Never done that.
- 3:25Speaker 6: But if my expectations are, hey, make the playoff, win
- 3:28Speaker 6: some games, be interesting, hell yeah, I want Lane Kiffin.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I think the thing that comes with Lane Kiffin is
- 3:34Speaker 4: when he becomes your head coach, you do kind of
- 3:36Speaker 4: turn a blind eye, because we have T-Bob Hebert on,
- 3:41Speaker 4: and T-Bob has kind of said before, he's going to
- 3:44Speaker 4: defend Lane Kiffin until he's not his head coach anymore.
- 3:47Speaker 4: And history has shown you, Lane Kiffin is going to
- 3:50Speaker 4: leave LSU, and when he does, he's going to leave
- 3:53Speaker 4: a trail of fire behind him.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Mikey, you made a face there when he tried to
- 3:57Speaker 1: pronounce T-Bob. It's an easy word to pronounce.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. but Taylor's finding out that he's talking too
- 4:03Speaker 3: much in too many places. I'm in my own head, right?
- 4:05Speaker 4: I got the yips. This is like, this is like
- 4:07Speaker 4: when George Lombard from the Yankee shortstop had six errors
- 4:11Speaker 4: in six consecutive games. And they were like, nobody's had
- 4:13Speaker 4: six errors in six consecutive games for Yankee shortstop since
- 4:17Speaker 4: Roger Peckinpah. That's me right now. I got the yips.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And we'll get to why he has the yips in
- 4:22Speaker 3: a second, but you're right. It's like a baseball hitter.
- 4:25Speaker 1: And he's in a slump and he finally gets that
- 4:27Speaker 1: meatball and he still misses it because T-Bob is that meatball.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I mean, It's T-Bob.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Roger Peckinpah is such a great baseball name. From the early...
- 4:37Speaker 4: Do you call him T-Bag? From the early 1910s.
- 4:41Speaker 3: What's the name?
- 4:42Speaker 4: Roger Peckinpah.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Put it on the poll. Is that a great baseball name?
- 4:46Speaker 1: I don't want to try to pronounce it. This is
- 4:48Speaker 1: why Taylor has the yips. This happened yesterday towards the
- 4:51Speaker 1: end of the show.
- 4:52Speaker 4: To get the all boat... The all boat.
- 4:56Speaker 3: It still hurts.
- 4:57Speaker 4: That's me trying to say the old ball coach.
- 5:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:03Speaker 4: To get the all boat. Thank you.
- 5:07Speaker 3: You're reeling. You're in a slump.
- 5:09Speaker 6: You got a little porky pig there in the middle.
- 5:13Speaker 1: How many people did you hear from once they heard that?
- 5:17Speaker 1: Because I find that more people comment on my mistakes.
- 5:20Speaker 1: than they do on anything I have to say where
- 5:22Speaker 1: I don't.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Make a mistake.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just a lot of people just checking in,
- 5:25Speaker 4: trying to get a state of the union from me,
- 5:28Speaker 4: just saying, hey, is everything okay? And I'm like, yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 4: I'm just fighting through this right now. Got to get
- 5:34Speaker 4: to the other side of this slump.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I am told here, Mikey, let's see if it's as
- 5:38Speaker 1: bad as we thought it was. This is very quick work.
- 5:40Speaker 1: They turned it around quickly. This is Taylor trying to
- 5:43Speaker 1: say T-Bob.
- 5:44Speaker 9: Because we have T-Bob A-Bear on, and T-Bob... t-bag a
- 5:52Speaker 9: bear i think i said t-bear yeah i think you
- 5:55Speaker 9: were headed towards bag let's.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Hear it one more time because we we have t-bear
- 6:01Speaker 4: we have t-bob a bear on yes and i'm just
- 6:06Speaker 4: not seeing the ball well.
- 6:06Speaker 10: Right now it's okay taylor like lombard i come up
- 6:11Speaker 10: as this great exciting prospect right and then you put
- 6:14Speaker 10: me out there and you're saying the one thing we
- 6:16Speaker 10: don't have to worry about george lombard jr is his
- 6:18Speaker 10: defense and then all of a sudden I become a
- 6:21Speaker 10: liability to the show.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Shake it off, kid.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Chuck Knobloch growing pains.
- 6:28Speaker 7: Right.
- 6:28Speaker 1: But you're one good joke away from being back. That's
- 6:33Speaker 1: the beauty of talking. So the Seattle Seahawks owner, the
- 6:38Speaker 1: new owner, what's his name? Do we know the name
- 6:41Speaker 1: of this of this owner? We're the Super Bowl champion
- 6:44Speaker 1: Seattle Seahawks that no one is taking seriously, mostly me,
- 6:48Speaker 1: by saying they're not going to make it to the
- 6:50Speaker 1: playoffs this year.
- 6:52Speaker 3: I don't know his name, but we do have sound.
- 6:54Speaker 3: This is the new Seahawks owner.
- 6:56Speaker 1: This is not the way you want to start your
- 6:59Speaker 1: ownership of a brand new NFL team.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Here's what he had to say during his opening press conference.
- 7:04Speaker 7: Also, I happened to come to this country in 76
- 7:07Speaker 7: when the Steelers were winning the Super Bowl. So actually,
- 7:10Speaker 7: I was originally and still am a big Steelers fan. Also,
- 7:14Speaker 7: a little known fact, but I still watch all the
- 7:18Speaker 7: Steelers games, too.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Keep that fact to yourself.
- 7:24Speaker 4: His name is V-Node. Again, when you're in a slump,
- 7:29Speaker 4: this is not the name you want when you're in
- 7:30Speaker 4: a slump.
- 7:32Speaker 6: You don't want to see Pedro, Randy Johnson out there
- 7:35Speaker 6: when you're in a slump.
- 7:36Speaker 3: I get it.
- 7:37Speaker 6: Go ahead.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Yeah, but try to thunder through it and see if
- 7:40Speaker 3: you get your confidence back. Let's go.
- 7:42Speaker 4: V-Node, Kosla. No, that can't be right.
- 7:46Speaker 3: I mean, it's not... Wow.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Wow.
- 7:49Speaker 3: It's not like any of us would know. I mean.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Who rang the bell?
- 7:53Speaker 4: He knows.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Mikey, how would you feel about the Jets owner if
- 8:01Speaker 1: we had a new owner?
- 8:02Speaker 3: And Lord knows, I wish we did. But if he
- 8:05Speaker 3: stepped up to the podium. Stop.
- 8:07Speaker 6: I already like him.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Stop.
- 8:09Speaker 3: He's new.
- 8:10Speaker 6: I already like him.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but if he acknowledges he's a fan of another
- 8:13Speaker 3: team that he doesn't own.
- 8:16Speaker 6: You're not Woody Johnson. Welcome. Welcome to the family.
- 8:18Speaker 3: And I wouldn't blame those Steelers.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:20Speaker 6: Yes.
- 8:20Speaker 3: But when you're the Seattle.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Owner and you're coming off a Super Bowl victory, you
- 8:25Speaker 1: can come to the podium and say little known fact.
- 8:28Speaker 3: And why would we know it? Little known fact. I'm
- 8:30Speaker 3: a Steelers fan.
- 8:32Speaker 4: You could see the other people in this press conference
- 8:34Speaker 4: when he says it. The people behind him are like wincing, like, oh, no,
- 8:38Speaker 4: I can't believe he just said that. There's like one
- 8:41Speaker 4: thing you can't say as an owner.
- 8:43Speaker 6: Right.
- 8:43Speaker 4: And it's I root for another team because now people
- 8:45Speaker 4: are thinking. Steeler Seahawks Super Bowl.
- 8:48Speaker 8: Yes.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Who is he rooting for?
- 8:51Speaker 3: Secretly, who is he rooting for? Publicly, we know he's
- 8:54Speaker 3: rooting for Seahawks.
- 8:54Speaker 6: How about any trade made between the Steelers and the Seahawks?
- 8:57Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:58Speaker 1: You start to wonder. That's why you got to keep
- 9:00Speaker 1: these things quiet. Who does he root for? Publicly, he'll
- 9:03Speaker 1: say Seattle. He's the owner of the Seahawks.
- 9:06Speaker 3: But privately, when he's alone with the family, they're all
- 9:09Speaker 3: Steeler fans.
- 9:09Speaker 1: They have the terrible towels. They've been going to games forever.
- 9:12Speaker 1: They love Mean Joe Green. They love Jack Hamm. They
- 9:15Speaker 1: love Terry Bradshaw. They love the Steelers.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Louie Lips.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I'm just going to rattle off Steeler names for the
- 9:20Speaker 1: rest of time. But secretly, they're all saying, let's go Steelers, right?
- 9:26Speaker 1: If you're a Steeler fan, you're a Steeler fan.
- 9:28Speaker 11: I mean.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Is that fair?
- 9:32Speaker 4: I think he's 1,000% rooting for the Steelers because when
- 9:35Speaker 4: he's talking about his Steelers fandom, you could hear the
- 9:38Speaker 4: joy coming through. And that joy that you hear him
- 9:43Speaker 4: talking about his Steelers fandom, that doesn't really go away.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I know when you buy a team, you become part
- 9:50Speaker 4: of that team, but your fandom doesn't really just go away.
- 9:53Speaker 5: No.
- 9:54Speaker 3: No.
- 9:55Speaker 6: Seattle will forever be business to him while Steelers are
- 9:58Speaker 6: his heart.
- 9:58Speaker 8: Pleasure.
- 9:59Speaker 6: He's going to forever be... like, hey, listen, I hope
- 10:01Speaker 6: Seattle does well because I want to make money. This
- 10:04Speaker 6: is my business.
- 10:04Speaker 8: Yes.
- 10:05Speaker 6: But I'm a Steelers fan. That's a bad look.
- 10:09Speaker 3: But it seems to me like he wishes he was
- 10:11Speaker 3: the Steelers owner and not the Seahawks owner.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Just couldn't get the.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Right price for Pittsburgh.
- 10:15Speaker 4: The family wouldn't sell.
- 10:17Speaker 6: Darn Roonies. Yes.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I want to hear the sound again. Listen to him
- 10:20Speaker 3: laugh at himself, and he's the only one laughing.
- 10:22Speaker 7: Also, I happened to come to this country in 76
- 10:25Speaker 7: when the Steelers were winning the Super Bowl. So, actually,
- 10:28Speaker 7: I was originally and still am a big Steelers fan. Also,
- 10:33Speaker 7: little known fact, but I still watch all the Steelers games, too.
- 10:39Speaker 4: This sound also just goes to show you how disconnected
- 10:42Speaker 4: billionaires are from the casual sports fans. Yes. Casual sports
- 10:47Speaker 4: fans would never even... This thought would never even cross
- 10:51Speaker 4: their mind. Like, if I gave you $ 3 billion, Stu,
- 10:54Speaker 4: to buy a team and you went out and bought
- 10:56Speaker 4: a team, like, let's say in baseball you bought the
- 10:59Speaker 4: Tampa Bay Rays. At your press conference, you know for
- 11:03Speaker 4: certain you would not say, hey, I grew up a
- 11:05Speaker 4: Mets fan. I'm still rooting for the Mets.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Right, you can't say it. You just can't, right.
- 11:10Speaker 4: But when you're so, like, disconnected from reality with all
- 11:13Speaker 4: these people and their billions of dollars... You don't even
- 11:16Speaker 4: think about trying to relate to the common man.
- 11:18Speaker 6: No, I'm not even okay with him saying, Hey, when
- 11:22Speaker 6: I came to this country, I rooted for the Steelers,
- 11:24Speaker 6: but now my soul phone, you know, like you have to,
- 11:27Speaker 6: you have to draw a line where there was the
- 11:30Speaker 6: previous me who liked the Steelers and the new me
- 11:33Speaker 6: who likes the Seahawks.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:35Speaker 3: So we're asking them not to be honest. And that's
- 11:37Speaker 3: part of what being an owner is all about, is
- 11:39Speaker 3: to lie. Right?
- 11:42Speaker 4: Take a page out of Lane Kiffin's book.
- 11:45Speaker 3: What are you doing to Lane Kiffin?
- 11:47Speaker 4: I love Lane Kiffin.
- 11:50Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. I don't know why I'm giving out
- 11:53Speaker 1: the phone number. Dominique Foxworth.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Now I got it. I have the yips right now.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He feels better.
- 11:59Speaker 6: It's either leaving.
- 12:00Speaker 3: No, it's either. He makes a good joke. He gets
- 12:04Speaker 3: out of his slump or someone else does something worse.
- 12:07Speaker 3: And I just did it. And now he feels better
- 12:10Speaker 3: about himself. Damn.
- 12:11Speaker 4: I do feel better about myself. This just goes to
- 12:14Speaker 4: show the apple does not fall far from the tree.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Dominique Foxworth.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 12:23Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific
- 12:28Speaker 2: on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Joe Thomas going to join us in about 15 to
- 12:35Speaker 1: 20 minutes here. 877-99 on Fox. We'll get to Would
- 12:40Speaker 1: You Be Shocked in just a second here. But first,
- 12:43Speaker 1: let's go out to Rob, who is in Maine today.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Rob, go ahead. You're on Fox Sports Radio. Yep.
- 12:49Speaker 8: I know you got takes and I got questions. I
- 12:51Speaker 8: gotta get, I gotta get takes.
- 12:53Speaker 6: Out of you.
- 12:54Speaker 3: All right. Okay.
- 12:55Speaker 8: So, um, first of all, Mikey and I with Sam,
- 12:59Speaker 8: you got two great producers right there. Those guys are
- 13:02Speaker 8: all timers. Just like you. It was like you carried
- 13:04Speaker 8: levitard all those years. If it was a concert for
- 13:08Speaker 8: a 50th birthday for you, you'd invite all your friends
- 13:11Speaker 8: to a dead concert, but you wouldn't pay.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I don't think I, no, no, no, I'm torn on
- 13:17Speaker 1: this because I don't think I would inconvenience my friends
- 13:20Speaker 1: by making them go to a concert they don't want
- 13:22Speaker 1: to go to just because it's my 50th birthday, you know?
- 13:26Speaker 8: All right, all right, all right. Next topic is, you know,
- 13:29Speaker 8: I'm biracial. When I lived in South Florida, everybody spoke
- 13:33Speaker 8: Spanish to me, and claro, yo hablo espanol, but now
- 13:36Speaker 8: I live up here in Maine, and it's all English.
- 13:38Speaker 8: They think I'm a farmer with a tan around here,
- 13:40Speaker 8: all right? Mm-hmm, yep. And then congrats to Dominique keeping
- 13:44Speaker 8: him around, and... Atta boy. And let's talk about this.
- 13:48Speaker 8: Can the Red Sox take care of pitchers? I mean,
- 13:51Speaker 8: look at Chris Dale after he left. Crochet when he
- 13:53Speaker 8: went there. I feel like they've pushed guys up so fast.
- 13:58Speaker 8: And their innings pitched, they don't let them, like, slowly
- 14:03Speaker 8: make their way up. Look at our Mets. And, like,
- 14:04Speaker 8: you know, McQueen pitched over 100 innings twice in the minors.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Right.
- 14:09Speaker 3: And, you know.
- 14:11Speaker 8: Look at what they're doing to Peyton Tolles now. And
- 14:13Speaker 8: then he's good, but he's in Tanner House. He's on
- 14:17Speaker 8: the IL after pitching a great season in crochet. Now
- 14:20Speaker 8: he's out right now with a sore shoulder. And I've
- 14:22Speaker 8: had a sore shoulder for 10 years. That's the way
- 14:25Speaker 8: I work every day.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Yes, but you don't pitch for a living.
- 14:29Speaker 4: You just compare yourself to one of the people in
- 14:32Speaker 4: the Red Sox rotation?
- 14:34Speaker 8: Listen, I get paid a lot less money to show
- 14:36Speaker 8: up to work than they do. And if you look
- 14:39Speaker 8: at pitchers now, compared to old school pitchers, you think
- 14:42Speaker 8: Johnny Smoltz was saying, I got a sore shoulder, I
- 14:46Speaker 8: can't pitch for an entire season? You think Maddox said that?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Well, Maddox didn't throw hard enough. I believe Smoltz did
- 14:53Speaker 1: miss an entire season. I could be wrong on that,
- 14:55Speaker 1: but yes.
- 14:57Speaker 8: He got hurt, and they made him a closer. I
- 14:59Speaker 8: think they should make crochet back to a closer. But
- 15:01Speaker 8: I'm just saying, right now, they make so much money
- 15:04Speaker 8: in baseball, and... there's no reason to push yourself because
- 15:08Speaker 8: you're already making generational wealth. It's not like the guy
- 15:10Speaker 8: that was a, you can't say they're a plumber off season,
- 15:13Speaker 8: but a guy making a modest living, Nolan Ryan being
- 15:16Speaker 8: a major leaguer. And like now these guys make so
- 15:19Speaker 8: much money, they're afraid to get it.
- 15:23Speaker 3: All right. Well, is that it?
- 15:28Speaker 4: That's it.
- 15:29Speaker 3: All right.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Thank you for the call. He said, look at the Mets.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I'd rather look at the Red Sox. The Red Sox
- 15:33Speaker 1: seem to be doing just fine. Where was he all July?
- 15:38Speaker 3: Sports radio.
- 15:40Speaker 6: Where was he all July, all of early August when
- 15:43Speaker 6: we could have used him? Thank you for the compliment,
- 15:48Speaker 6: by the way.
- 15:48Speaker 3: To me, he gave me a compliment.
- 15:50Speaker 4: He gave Mikey and Sam one.
- 15:51Speaker 3: And I was saying he left Taylor out. I mean,
- 15:53Speaker 3: do you feel left out?
- 15:54Speaker 11: No. No.
- 15:57Speaker 8: Play it out.
- 15:58Speaker 4: I could have got into that Ryan Weathers conversation, and
- 16:01Speaker 4: maybe Ryan Weathers' injury is because his innings are going
- 16:04Speaker 4: up 137 this year for the Yankees. Never pitched over
- 16:08Speaker 4: 100 innings before, but hopefully he comes back for the postseason.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:11Speaker 1: What exactly is he saying, though? The Red Sox, they
- 16:13Speaker 1: just turn innings? Their guys are throwing too many innings?
- 16:16Speaker 3: Is that it?
- 16:17Speaker 4: The Red Sox just care about getting the most out
- 16:19Speaker 4: of their young pitchers and throw them more innings than
- 16:22Speaker 4: their arms probably should allow them.
- 16:24Speaker 11: Mm-hmm.
- 16:25Speaker 1: So we complimented Mikey A and Iowa Sam. Iowa Sam,
- 16:28Speaker 1: how do you feel about your compliment? I'm just hoping
- 16:29Speaker 1: that you come to the mic and say something and
- 16:31Speaker 1: butcher it so I can get off the hook and
- 16:34Speaker 1: get out of my slump.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 16:36Speaker 4: I appreciate the compliment.
- 16:40Speaker 3: You kept it basic. Careful stepping. Let's get to Would
- 16:45Speaker 3: You Be Shocked? It's a new game, new to the
- 16:48Speaker 3: radio audience, old to me and Mikey. We'll ask a
- 16:51Speaker 3: series of questions. We'll go around the room.
- 16:53Speaker 1: And we'll ask everyone, would they be shocked? You guys
- 16:55Speaker 1: want me to kick off the proceedings here?
- 16:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:57Speaker 11: All right.
- 16:58Speaker 8: Go for it.
- 16:59Speaker 3: All right. Would you be shocked? It's the key to
- 17:05Speaker 3: the game. It's the only reason we play it. Oh,
- 17:08Speaker 3: there's music too. Mikey A. Taylor.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Iowa Sam.
- 17:16Speaker 8: Isaac.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Would you be shocked? Would you be shocked? If neither
- 17:26Speaker 3: the Dodgers or the Rams won a championship this season.
- 17:33Speaker 7: Wow.
- 17:34Speaker 6: I'll start it off.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 6: Yes, I would be shocked. I think I think both
- 17:40Speaker 6: of them are as clear cut against the field as
- 17:44Speaker 6: I've ever seen, whether it's this team versus the field.
- 17:48Speaker 6: And I've leaned towards that team.
- 17:50Speaker 4: I wouldn't be shocked just because baseball is so random
- 17:53Speaker 4: in the postseason.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:54Speaker 4: And the Dodgers have been so good for so long.
- 17:56Speaker 4: But you look at their postseason runs, they've they flirted
- 17:59Speaker 4: with getting eliminated, even though they're back to back World
- 18:01Speaker 4: Series champions. And then NFL. The NFL has so much
- 18:05Speaker 4: parity and your season's so dependent on staying healthy that
- 18:09Speaker 4: I would just take the chances that the field would
- 18:11Speaker 4: win that case.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Hard to go back-to-back in baseball, right? Football is very random. Back-to-back-to-back. Back-to-back-to-back, right.
- 18:19Speaker 1: It seems too good to be true, the Rams.
- 18:21Speaker 4: It really does.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Like something bad. Too many good things are happening. Something
- 18:25Speaker 3: bad is going to happen. I don't know what, I
- 18:28Speaker 3: don't know when, but it just seems too easy to
- 18:30Speaker 3: say the Rams are going to win the Super Bowl.
- 18:32Speaker 3: I would not be shocked if neither of those teams.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Won a championship this season.
- 18:35Speaker 3: How about that? Answering my own question.
- 18:37Speaker 6: How about that?
- 18:39Speaker 3: Sam, you got an opinion on this? Would you be shocked?
- 18:43Speaker 12: If they both did not win, I would not be shocked. Yeah,
- 18:46Speaker 12: like you said, it's really hard to go back to
- 18:48Speaker 12: back to back. I don't see them winning three in
- 18:51Speaker 12: a row. And then in the NFL, like Taylor said,
- 18:53Speaker 12: it's just like, yeah. And like what you said, Stu,
- 18:55Speaker 12: they have all these weapons now and the expectation is
- 18:58Speaker 12: that they go at least the NFC championship game. I
- 19:02Speaker 12: could see something happening where they get knocked out. So
- 19:04Speaker 12: I would not be shocked if neither team could win
- 19:07Speaker 12: a title.
- 19:08Speaker 3: I was waiting for him to trip up. Very wordy
- 19:10Speaker 3: answer there. Isaac?
- 19:14Speaker 5: I would be shocked, and I would guess somewhere in
- 19:17Speaker 5: the bowels of L.A. City Hall, the championship parade plans
- 19:23Speaker 5: have already been finalized.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Do you speak like an update anchor when you're not
- 19:28Speaker 3: at work? When I'm not at work, this is my
- 19:31Speaker 3: normal voice.
- 19:32Speaker 7: Back to you.
- 19:33Speaker 4: The bowels.
- 19:35Speaker 6: He's a showman.
- 19:36Speaker 3: He really is. Mikey, go ahead.
- 19:38Speaker 6: You're up.
- 19:39Speaker 3: All right.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Fellas, would you be shocked?
- 19:44Speaker 11: Wow.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Makes your ears bleed.
- 19:51Speaker 2: So stupid.
- 19:55Speaker 6: If Jaden Daniels still can't return to his rookie season
- 19:59Speaker 6: form in year three.
- 20:03Speaker 3: So I had an episode.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Mikey, you'll love this. My daughter decided to do a
- 20:06Speaker 1: fantasy football draft. She took Jaden Daniels in the second round.
- 20:10Speaker 1: I thundered it, and I took over the draft.
- 20:12Speaker 6: You have to.
- 20:14Speaker 1: She's like, Dad, you told me Jaden Daniels was good.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I said, yeah, but he'll still be there in the
- 20:17Speaker 1: 15th round.
- 20:18Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 20:19Speaker 1: I'll take over from here. I would be shocked if
- 20:22Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels doesn't get back to what he was at
- 20:24Speaker 1: his rookie season. I think Jaden Daniels is that good,
- 20:27Speaker 1: and I see no reason.
- 20:28Speaker 3: He's young.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I see no reason why he wouldn't get back to
- 20:31Speaker 1: where he was as a rookie. He's a talented quarterback.
- 20:35Speaker 3: C.J.
- 20:35Speaker 6: Stroud is my reason.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Yeah, well, that's a good point.
- 20:39Speaker 4: But it feels like the Texans have just purposely ignored
- 20:42Speaker 4: the upgrades needed around C.J. Stroud, and they're just looking
- 20:46Speaker 4: at C.J. Stroud saying, C.J. Stroud's going to figure it out.
- 20:49Speaker 2: C.J.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Stroud's a talented enough quarterback. At least the commanders, it
- 20:52Speaker 4: feels like there's at least an attempt to try to
- 20:55Speaker 4: build around Jaden Daniels and kind of return to that
- 20:58Speaker 4: rookie season form.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I'm hesitant to do this, but 877-99 on Fox. If
- 21:03Speaker 1: you have a would you be shocked question for us,
- 21:07Speaker 1: we will dress it up with all the sound effects
- 21:09Speaker 1: that we have, and we only have one. But feel
- 21:11Speaker 1: free to call in and present your would you be
- 21:13Speaker 1: shocked to me, Taylor, Mikey.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Ike, and I with Sam. Go ahead, Taylor.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I have one. I'm going to stay in the same
- 21:19Speaker 4: division as Mikey, actually. That's why I got a little
- 21:21Speaker 4: worried when I heard Mikey starting that. All right, what
- 21:23Speaker 4: do you got? Would you be shocked?
- 21:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 4: If the Giants win the NFC East.
- 21:32Speaker 12: Wow.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Eagles, Commanders, Cowboys. Everyone loves the Cowboys. Jaden Daniels, I
- 21:40Speaker 1: just said he should get back to where he was.
- 21:42Speaker 3: As a rookie. That means he'll probably be good if
- 21:45Speaker 3: he does so. The Eagles are the Eagles.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yet I wouldn't be shocked because it's football. I wouldn't
- 21:51Speaker 1: be shocked. I like the Giants. I like the coach.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Jackson Dart, I think, is a good quarterback. I would
- 21:58Speaker 1: not be shocked if the Giants won the NFC East.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Mikey?
- 22:02Speaker 6: Well, I had this whole, like, thought-out thing that I
- 22:05Speaker 6: was going to give you, and then you hit me
- 22:06Speaker 6: with football is football.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 6: And I kind of.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Don't have a comeback to that.
- 22:10Speaker 6: It's tough. But in the end, I'm going to say yes,
- 22:13Speaker 6: I would be shocked because I think the Eagles are
- 22:17Speaker 6: just that good. I think they're going to have probably
- 22:19Speaker 6: a top three defense. They have a top three offensive line.
- 22:24Speaker 6: I think they have an identity, and now that A.J.
- 22:26Speaker 6: Brown is gone, they're going to lean more into that identity.
- 22:30Speaker 6: And I would be shocked if the Giants were able
- 22:33Speaker 6: to overtake the Eagles.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Let's go to Sherman Oaks, Iowa Sam. Would you be shocked?
- 22:37Speaker 3: I would be shocked.
- 22:39Speaker 12: I'd have the Commanders, the Eagles, and the Cowboys all
- 22:43Speaker 12: ahead of the Giants to finish.
- 22:46Speaker 4: That's all of them.
- 22:49Speaker 12: I'd have the Giants firmly in fourth place, so I'd
- 22:52Speaker 12: be shocked.
- 22:53Speaker 3: OK, Ike.
- 22:56Speaker 4: I actually.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Oh, sorry.
- 22:58Speaker 5: I actually would not be shocked. I think they would
- 23:03Speaker 5: have been a better record last year if they would
- 23:05Speaker 5: have stayed a little healthier. But they have a good
- 23:08Speaker 5: nucleus if they stay healthy. But they have a really
- 23:11Speaker 5: underrated young, deep athletic squad of pass rushers.
- 23:16Speaker 3: All right.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Shame on me for forgetting about E.P. Jason out in
- 23:19Speaker 1: Sherman Oaks. Jason, would you be shocked?
- 23:23Speaker 4: Not only that, I would be Jeremy Shockey. Really?
- 23:28Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Former Giants tight end.
- 23:33Speaker 3: We get the joke.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Yeah, we got it.
- 23:34Speaker 6: We're there.
- 23:37Speaker 3: You don't need to explain it.
- 23:38Speaker 6: We're right there with you.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Wait, do they have questions out in Sherman Oaks? I mean,
- 23:45Speaker 3: we're done. Just answers. And bad jokes.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Just answers. And bad jokes.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Is Jason mad at me? Sam, is he mad at me? No, no.
- 23:58Speaker 4: He's got a half grin on his face. He's fine.
- 24:00Speaker 11: I'm not confident in the Giants, guys. I think I'd
- 24:03Speaker 11: be Jeremy Shockey.
- 24:06Speaker 3: It was funny in the second time. Go ahead, Mikey.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Okay.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Would you be shocked? It scares me.
- 24:20Speaker 4: I know.
- 24:21Speaker 6: Would you be shocked if six playoff teams came from
- 24:24Speaker 6: the West?
- 24:29Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 24:31Speaker 4: In both conferences. I had that same thought. I had
- 24:33Speaker 4: that same thought, too.
- 24:34Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Okay.
- 24:36Speaker 6: From the AFC and NFC West, if six total playoff
- 24:39Speaker 6: teams came from those two divisions.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Taylor, thank you. I felt very alone there for a second.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Stu, I had the same thing in my head. I said,
- 24:46Speaker 4: there's only four. So, yes, technically I would be shocked
- 24:49Speaker 4: if that happened. I wouldn't be shocked. I think the
- 24:52Speaker 4: Chargers are really good in the AFC West. I think
- 24:54Speaker 4: the Broncos, you could count on that defense. The Chiefs
- 24:58Speaker 4: to make it back to the playoffs. And then the
- 25:00Speaker 4: NFC West, it's murderer's row out there with the Rams,
- 25:02Speaker 4: the 49ers, and the Seahawks. So I wouldn't be shocked
- 25:05Speaker 4: if six make it.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I need to think about this one.
- 25:08Speaker 1: It's a good question. Let's go to Iowa Sam and
- 25:11Speaker 1: Sherman Oaks first. Would you be shocked, Iowa Sam?
- 25:14Speaker 12: I would not be too shocked. Those are good divisions
- 25:17Speaker 12: out west.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Let's go to Isaac. Isaac, would you be shocked?
- 25:22Speaker 5: Not shocked at all. However, I would be shocked if
- 25:25Speaker 5: one of them were the Raiders or Cardinals.
- 25:28Speaker 4: That is fair.
- 25:29Speaker 3: E.P. Jason, would you be shocked?
- 25:32Speaker 4: Arizona Cardinals on the West Coast. Interesting.
- 25:35Speaker 11: I would be shocked because the NFL is the least
- 25:38Speaker 11: predictable league in the world. The AFC West from four
- 25:40Speaker 11: years ago when Russell Wilson went there, the AFC West
- 25:43Speaker 11: was supposed to have all their teams in the playoffs,
- 25:46Speaker 11: and I think one made it.
- 25:47Speaker 4: So I'm going to say I would be shocked.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I'm on record as saying Seattle won't make the playoffs.
- 25:55Speaker 1: The Rams are a lock.
- 25:57Speaker 7: Hmm.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Got to scroll up here. How many teams did you say?
- 26:04Speaker 8: Six.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I'd be shocked.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Wow.
- 26:06Speaker 3: I'd be shocked.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Because I only have one team in the NFC making it,
- 26:10Speaker 1: and that's the Rams. I don't think Seattle's going to
- 26:12Speaker 1: make it. I don't think San Francisco's going to make it.
- 26:13Speaker 3: How about that?
- 26:14Speaker 1: And there's not five teams that can make it out
- 26:19Speaker 1: of the AFC.
- 26:20Speaker 3: So I would be shocked. The Broncos will make the playoffs.
- 26:22Speaker 3: The Chiefs will make the playoffs. Chargers, no. Raiders, no.
- 26:25Speaker 3: How about that?
- 26:27Speaker 4: I have a rapid-fire one.
- 26:28Speaker 8: Yes.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Would you be shocked if Fernando Mendoza starts more than
- 26:36Speaker 4: half the Raiders games this season?
- 26:39Speaker 3: I'm surprised he's not starting to start the season, to
- 26:41Speaker 3: be honest.
- 26:42Speaker 6: No, I would not be shocked.
- 26:44Speaker 3: I would be shocked.
- 26:45Speaker 4: I would be shocked, too.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:47Speaker 4: That schedule is tough to start. I don't think they're
- 26:49Speaker 4: going to try to throw him in the fire. You
- 26:50Speaker 4: get Kirk Cousins for a reason. Their bye week is
- 26:53Speaker 4: super late in the season. I think that's where you
- 26:55Speaker 4: kind of ease them into it. All right.
- 26:57Speaker 3: I got one for you, guys. Would you be shocked?
- 27:04Speaker 3: If North Carolina made the college football playoff and the
- 27:07Speaker 3: Patriots didn't make the NFL playoffs.
- 27:10Speaker 6: Wow.
- 27:10Speaker 4: That's a twist because Carolina is making the playoffs.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson company
- 27:19Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3 p.m.
- 27:21Speaker 6: Eastern, 12 p.m. Pacific.
- 27:24Speaker 3: We debut an old but new game new to the
- 27:27Speaker 3: radio audience. Old to me and Mikey, would you be
- 27:30Speaker 3: shocked coming up next year? I'm looking forward to that.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I have two things working against me besides the heat
- 27:36Speaker 1: down here, and I'll get to the calls in just
- 27:38Speaker 1: a second.
- 27:39Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I stayed up till 2.30 watching a tennis match last night.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Opening round, U.S.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Open, Zverev, however you pronounce his name, the number one seed,
- 27:49Speaker 1: five-set thriller, and somehow I stayed up till 2.30 in
- 27:53Speaker 1: the morning. That's the first thing working against me today.
- 27:56Speaker 3: It's why I'm tired. The second thing working against me is.
- 28:01Speaker 1: I put on a pair of shorts this morning that
- 28:05Speaker 1: are probably two waist sizes too.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Small, and I feel like I can't breathe. Sneaky, one
- 28:12Speaker 3: of the.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Most terrible feelings in the world. Two tight shorts?
- 28:16Speaker 5: Yes.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Wet socks or two tight shorts? Hmm.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Wet socks for me.
- 28:21Speaker 4: You'd rather have wet socks.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Yes, because I'm dealing with the tight shorts right now,
- 28:25Speaker 3: and I feel like my head's going to explode.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Sorry, tight shorts. Welcome to my life, guys.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Yeah, but for me, I'm still hanging on to the
- 28:36Speaker 3: old days. I really am. It's why I don't throw
- 28:39Speaker 3: anything out.
- 28:40Speaker 1: And so I'd like to think that one day I'll
- 28:41Speaker 1: get myself in good enough shape to be able to
- 28:44Speaker 1: fit in these shorts again.
- 28:45Speaker 3: But today is not that day. And yet I am
- 28:48Speaker 3: still wearing them, and they are tight.
- 28:50Speaker 4: That good shape? He's getting to it.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Let's get to some sound here. First, Taylor, who is
- 28:58Speaker 1: in a slump. This is yesterday towards the end of
- 29:00Speaker 1: the show. Steve Spurrier was on. His nickname is the
- 29:03Speaker 1: old ball coach. Here's Taylor trying.
- 29:05Speaker 3: To say that.
- 29:06Speaker 4: To get the old boat.
- 29:11Speaker 3: And so he was, and then it didn't get any better.
- 29:13Speaker 3: He botched T-Bob in the opening segment. But when you're
- 29:17Speaker 3: in a slump, you either want to get out of it.
- 29:18Speaker 4: We have T-Bob Abare on.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Okay. Sorry about that.
- 29:22Speaker 4: We have T-Bob Abare on.
- 29:24Speaker 3: I should have made room for the sound. Mikey, that's
- 29:28Speaker 3: on me.
- 29:28Speaker 6: You're right.
- 29:28Speaker 3: It's on me. So when you're in a slump, what
- 29:31Speaker 3: you look for is either you want to get yourself
- 29:35Speaker 3: out of said slump or you want the light to
- 29:39Speaker 3: shine so bright.
- 29:40Speaker 1: On someone else that it takes the shine off of you.
- 29:43Speaker 1: And I feel like I made that mistake in the
- 29:44Speaker 1: first segment.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah, tell us.
- 29:46Speaker 4: And I know people are probably wondering what Stu got said,
- 29:49Speaker 4: because credit to Iowa Sam, very quick to the trigger,
- 29:53Speaker 4: Iowa Sam dumped it.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Really?
- 29:55Speaker 4: This is what it sounded like.
- 29:57Speaker 9: Okay.
- 29:58Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I don't know why I'm giving out the phone number.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Dominique Foxworth. Now I got it. There's no way I
- 30:06Speaker 1: did that. Like Kevin Duckworth.
- 30:12Speaker 3: It sounds so much worse when you bleep it.
- 30:18Speaker 1: It wasn't that bad, was it? 877-99 on Fox. I
- 30:22Speaker 1: don't know why I'm giving out the phone number. Dominique Foxworth.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Now I got it. He passed the slump on to me.
- 30:35Speaker 1: My shorts are tight.
- 30:37Speaker 4: I feel like your abdominal is about to explode.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Dominique Foxworth.
- 30:43Speaker 6: I am so scared I'm going to rescue Stu.
- 30:51Speaker 3: You're next. It happens in threes.
- 30:55Speaker 6: Iowa Sam, talk on the air.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Anybody. Anybody.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Black backup quarterback. Black backup quarterback.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Yes. Headset. And perhaps Eddie. Headset. And perhaps Eddie.
- 31:11Speaker 8: All right.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Just line them all up and I'll call for him,
- 31:14Speaker 3: I will say.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Because I want to do something. I've been trying to
- 31:16Speaker 1: get this off the ground. Dan and I did something
- 31:19Speaker 1: for years called the Sueys. And I want to do
- 31:21Speaker 1: something called the Stewies.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Okay?
- 31:22Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Where it's annual awards, where we make fun of ourselves,
- 31:26Speaker 1: and also, you know, pat ourselves on the back a bit.
- 31:29Speaker 1: So let's start with Taylor on Martin Luther King Day, guys, okay?
- 31:34Speaker 1: This is Taylor trying to say backup quarterback.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Black backup quarterback.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:44Speaker 6: That one's even just so much better because it was
- 31:47Speaker 6: on MLK Day.
- 31:48Speaker 4: People are saying I'm an ally, though.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Of course.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Black up quarterbacks.
- 31:54Speaker 11: All right.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Now let's go to, man, you were in a slump
- 31:57Speaker 1: until I got you out of it. Let's go to
- 31:59Speaker 1: Taylor trying to say the old ball coach.
- 32:03Speaker 4: To get the old boat. And so today it did
- 32:05Speaker 4: not get any better.
- 32:13Speaker 3: A good night's sleep did not help him.
- 32:16Speaker 1: He was trying to say the most basic word, the
- 32:18Speaker 1: basic name you could say.
- 32:19Speaker 3: T-Bob. Here's Taylor.
- 32:23Speaker 4: We have T-Bob A-Bear on.
- 32:26Speaker 3: And then there's me.
- 32:28Speaker 1: 877-99 on Fox. I don't know why I'm giving out
- 32:30Speaker 1: the phone number. Dominique Foxworth. Now I got it.
- 32:41Speaker 3: I'm not happy. This is the most embarrassed I've ever
- 32:43Speaker 3: been on air. And that's saying a lot. It really is. Indianapolis. Oh, God.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Eddie Erickson's a tough one. I'm going to pass on that.
- 32:56Speaker 3: It's tough. It's two E's. Eddie Erickson. It's tough, right?
- 32:59Speaker 3: And perhaps Eddie Erickson.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Stu, I have the same thing, though. When I try
- 33:07Speaker 4: to say a name, I have it in my head,
- 33:10Speaker 4: and then the words just all become, like, combined together
- 33:13Speaker 4: because my brain is moving so fast.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Yes, we're talking too much in too many places, all
- 33:17Speaker 3: three of us.
- 33:19Speaker 4: The old ball coach.
- 33:21Speaker 6: I haven't heard my name out there.
- 33:23Speaker 3: You're up.
- 33:25Speaker 6: Mikey.
- 33:27Speaker 3: I know I had one.
- 33:28Speaker 4: If I could paint the picture of my night last night,
- 33:31Speaker 4: I was just in front of a mirror going, the
- 33:33Speaker 4: old ball coach. The old ball coach.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Trying to shake it off.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Get some reps in.
- 33:39Speaker 3: And did it help?
- 33:40Speaker 4: No. No.
- 33:41Speaker 1: And if it had helped, you would have been slapped
- 33:45Speaker 1: with T-bomb in the first segment.
- 33:47Speaker 3: And you would have went right back into your slump.
- 33:50Speaker 6: We have a call back into it.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Yes. I listen. I'm really tight.
- 33:53Speaker 4: Black up quarterbacks.
- 33:55Speaker 6: White back into it.
- 33:56Speaker 3: I'm telling you, man. Damn it. The shorts are too tight.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Why do I keep them? Why not just throw them out?
- 34:09Speaker 4: Because you're you're planning on getting back in the gym.
- 34:12Speaker 4: That was your New Year's resolution.
- 34:13Speaker 3: But you and I both know I'm never getting back
- 34:15Speaker 3: in the gym.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Are they from Caldor?
- 34:20Speaker 3: Put it on the poll.
- 34:22Speaker 1: To me and Taylor both know that Stugatz is never
- 34:25Speaker 1: going back.
- 34:25Speaker 3: To a gym.
- 34:28Speaker 4: He's seen his last one.
- 34:30Speaker 1: ESPN has ranked the top 100 NFL players for this season.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Just for this season.
- 34:37Speaker 8: Why?
- 34:37Speaker 4: Because right.
- 34:38Speaker 3: The upcoming season.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Why?
- 34:41Speaker 1: Because we're all filling time until the games actually start
- 34:45Speaker 1: and we have nothing better to talk about.
- 34:47Speaker 3: So we rank players.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Mikey, what was surprising to you from ESPN's top 100
- 34:52Speaker 1: players for this upcoming season?
- 34:54Speaker 3: An odd list.
- 34:57Speaker 6: For starters. Number 100 was like, wait a minute. Did
- 35:01Speaker 6: you guys even watch last year?
- 35:02Speaker 3: Right.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what got me. And the fact that there
- 35:07Speaker 6: is one team that doesn't have one person on the list.
- 35:10Speaker 4: The Jets?
- 35:12Speaker 6: It would be the New York Jets.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Really?
- 35:14Speaker 6: One person on this list.
- 35:15Speaker 4: That's impossible.
- 35:16Speaker 3: What do you mean it's impossible?
- 35:18Speaker 1: We've lived our entire lives without having a player in
- 35:21Speaker 1: the top 100 for the upcoming season.
- 35:23Speaker 3: I mean.
- 35:23Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 35:24Speaker 6: We had two last year.
- 35:26Speaker 11: Yes.
- 35:26Speaker 6: Yes. Williams and Sauce Gardner.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 35:29Speaker 6: And they're both in like the top 55 or something,
- 35:32Speaker 6: but they're on other teams now.
- 35:33Speaker 3: So ESPN did this list a year ago.
- 35:39Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 35:39Speaker 6: OK, but you said players that were on the Jets
- 35:41Speaker 6: last year.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Right.
- 35:42Speaker 1: I'm saying on this list, I'm saying that anyone who
- 35:45Speaker 1: made a list that included two Jets last year, that
- 35:47Speaker 1: person was fired.
- 35:48Speaker 3: OK, I mean, yes. No, no, no.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Listen, they're great players. They're great when they go elsewhere.
- 35:53Speaker 1: They're just never great with us. That's the problem.
- 35:56Speaker 6: Taylor Taylor is trying to double check my work like
- 35:58Speaker 6: at the top of the article.
- 36:00Speaker 4: It doesn't say the.
- 36:01Speaker 6: Jets, meanwhile, are the only team without a single representative.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Not double checking your work right i'm just flabbergasted that
- 36:07Speaker 4: demario davis is is probably a top 100 player in
- 36:10Speaker 4: the nfl at the linebacker position garrett wilson should be
- 36:14Speaker 4: somewhere i don't care if garrett agreed i don't care
- 36:16Speaker 4: if garrett wilson is 99 right garrett wilson's a top
- 36:20Speaker 4: 100 player in the nfl.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Breeze hall top 100 player in the nfl.
- 36:23Speaker 4: I wouldn't fight for Brees Hall.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Put it on the poll. Would you fight for Brees Hall?
- 36:31Speaker 6: Brees Hall could be on the list, but I'm upset
- 36:34Speaker 6: Garrett Wilson's not on the list. I'm not upset Brees
- 36:37Speaker 6: Hall isn't on the list.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Why are you upset that Garrett Wilson's not on the list?
- 36:40Speaker 1: Because he is that good.
- 36:43Speaker 6: He is that good.
- 36:44Speaker 3: Well, I don't have the list. You do. Who would
- 36:45Speaker 3: you take off the list to put Garrett Wilson on
- 36:48Speaker 3: instead of? Who would you take off of that list?
- 36:51Speaker 6: Listen, you want to go through? I'll give you number
- 36:54Speaker 6: 100 right off the bat.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Are you telling me the Cleveland Browns minus Miles Garrett,
- 36:58Speaker 3: they have someone in the top 100 for the upcoming season?
- 37:03Speaker 6: They might even have multiple.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Wow.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Okay. So how do you want to do this? Are
- 37:07Speaker 3: we doing this five at a time? Are we just
- 37:09Speaker 3: dissecting the list? What is happening here?
- 37:11Speaker 6: Listen, we are five on-air days away from actual football
- 37:17Speaker 6: being played. We need to get through this.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 37:19Speaker 4: All right.
- 37:20Speaker 3: So how do you want to do it?
- 37:23Speaker 6: I'll rattle off 20 if you want.
- 37:25Speaker 3: All right.
- 37:25Speaker 11: 20.
- 37:25Speaker 3: That's great. Start with 100. Go ahead.
- 37:27Speaker 1: We'll do 20 at a time until we get to kickoff.
- 37:30Speaker 1: We're filling time.
- 37:32Speaker 6: Number 100.
- 37:33Speaker 8: Yes.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Sam Darnold. Really?
- 37:35Speaker 3: Really?
- 37:36Speaker 8: Huh.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Deserving.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Probably should be higher. I mean, he's a Super Bowl
- 37:41Speaker 1: champion winning quarterback. I, of course.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Super Bowl champion.
- 37:44Speaker 8: Yes.
- 37:44Speaker 1: I announced they're not going to make the playoffs this year.
- 37:46Speaker 1: It has nothing to do with Sam Darnold. It just
- 37:49Speaker 1: has to do with making bold predictions.
- 37:50Speaker 3: That's it. All right. Is Darnold, he should be higher, right?
- 37:56Speaker 4: Yeah. Or lower. No, he should be.
- 37:57Speaker 6: We'll see.
- 37:57Speaker 4: He should be higher.
- 37:58Speaker 3: It's always confusing. Number 99.
- 38:02Speaker 6: Jesse Bates.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Hmm. Garrett Wilson should go there. Do you know who
- 38:12Speaker 3: Jesse Bates is? I got to be honest with you.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Of course.
- 38:15Speaker 1: If Jesse Bates was co-hosting the show with me today
- 38:18Speaker 1: and sitting in the studio, I would have no idea
- 38:20Speaker 1: it's Jesse Bates.
- 38:20Speaker 3: How about that?
- 38:22Speaker 4: Well, that's a different question.
- 38:24Speaker 6: That is a very different question.
- 38:26Speaker 4: I don't know if I would be able to recognize
- 38:27Speaker 4: Jesse Bates without his helmet, but I do know that
- 38:30Speaker 4: Jesse Bates is always a name that's linked to, hey,
- 38:33Speaker 4: maybe we should get this guy out of Atlanta and
- 38:35Speaker 4: get him to a contender so he could help somebody's
- 38:37Speaker 4: defense in the secondary. Got it.
- 38:39Speaker 6: All right, one, we are never getting through 20 with
- 38:42Speaker 6: the pace we're going. And number two, if I told
- 38:44Speaker 6: you we could get Jesse Bates on the show tomorrow,
- 38:46Speaker 6: you'd be like, hell yes.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Of course. Yes, 100%. 98, please.
- 38:48Speaker 6: Antoine Winfield Jr.
- 38:48Speaker 4: AWJ. Weird list.
- 38:49Speaker 3: 97.
- 39:01Speaker 6: Jalen Hurts. Disrespectful.
- 39:05Speaker 4: I mean, that's clickbait right there.
- 39:06Speaker 3: What is that? There's always a name on the list
- 39:10Speaker 3: and they're either ranked too high or too low. And
- 39:12Speaker 3: it's just to get the people talking. And Jalen Hurts
- 39:15Speaker 3: has us talking.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Yes.
- 39:16Speaker 6: Ask me 96.
- 39:18Speaker 4: 96.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Trevor Lawrence.
- 39:22Speaker 6: What?
- 39:25Speaker 3: For the upcoming season, right?
- 39:27Speaker 4: I'm going to predict that my biggest problem with this list.
- 39:30Speaker 4: is gonna be wherever lamar jackson.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Is um my biggest problem with this list regardless of
- 39:34Speaker 1: what happens for the remainder of the list is trevor lawrence.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Uh what number were we on.
- 39:41Speaker 6: 95 or Sean Slater?
- 39:44Speaker 2: Ah, Slater.
- 39:45Speaker 6: Disrespect.
- 39:46Speaker 8: Yes.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Why?
- 39:50Speaker 6: Because he's one of the best tackles in the league.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Okay.
- 39:53Speaker 6: He got hurt last year.
- 39:55Speaker 3: All right. Give me five names. Just go rattle off
- 39:57Speaker 3: five names for me right now. J.C.
- 40:00Speaker 6: Horn, Devonta Smith, Jack Campbell, Kamari Lassiter, Darnell Wright.
- 40:07Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know if I want to continue.
- 40:14Speaker 3: I don't know these guys. I mean, I probably should.
- 40:17Speaker 6: How is that possible?
- 40:19Speaker 3: We're going to listen.
- 40:20Speaker 6: To you do studio gods every week, and we're going
- 40:23Speaker 6: to take betting advice from you, and you don't know
- 40:25Speaker 6: who these guys are.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I had one of the great seasons
- 40:31Speaker 1: of all time last year picking games.
- 40:32Speaker 2: I did.
- 40:33Speaker 3: I mean, I did. I did it on Mad Dog.
- 40:35Speaker 3: Five games every single week. I crushed it. I was
- 40:38Speaker 3: like 30. That's why you're back, right? No. I'm not back.
- 40:43Speaker 3: And I'm outraged about it.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Mikey, you want to hear a strategy for picking games?
- 40:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gut.
- 40:48Speaker 4: I think the Bills are going to win because the
- 40:51Speaker 4: Bills have Josh Allen. I'll take the Bills minus four.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Dog hated how much favorites you took.
- 40:56Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 40:56Speaker 6: Minus 20. It doesn't matter.
- 40:59Speaker 4: They have Josh Allen.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Apparently, he hated how much money I won his audience.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I mean, geez. He called me. He gave me this
- 41:08Speaker 3: whole story about a couple of surgeries, about Steve Torrey,
- 41:11Speaker 3: about all these things. And I'm like, dog.
- 41:14Speaker 1: What do you want me to do? Did the audience
- 41:16Speaker 1: not like me? And he's like, no, I just need
- 41:18Speaker 1: to go in a different direction. And I'm like, did
- 41:20Speaker 1: the audience like me? Did they not like winning money?
- 41:22Speaker 1: And he's like, I need to do this for Tori,
- 41:24Speaker 1: who is now taking over mornings at Mad Dog Radio.
- 41:27Speaker 1: And so I said, OK. So Steve Tori is up.
- 41:30Speaker 1: But I did have one of the all time great seasons.
- 41:32Speaker 1: I mean, Fridays at five with Mad Dog is an honor.
- 41:35Speaker 1: And I was happy just to do it for a season.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I told him, don't sweat it.
- 41:38Speaker 3: I'm good with it. Let Steve Tori do it.
- 41:40Speaker 6: Then why aren't we doing Fridays at 4 with Mad
- 41:43Speaker 6: Dog on this show?
- 41:44Speaker 3: With Colin Russo.
- 41:48Speaker 6: Don't tease now.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Yes, now I'm wondering if I broke news that I
- 41:51Speaker 3: wasn't supposed to break. Now you did it. Okay, I
- 41:54Speaker 3: did it?
- 41:56Speaker 4: It's Babs and the Boss, Mike Babchak hosting with Steve Torrey.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Okay, Babs and the Boss. Everyone loves when the boss
- 42:02Speaker 3: gives himself the morning show. Give me some more names here.
- 42:05Speaker 3: 89 to 85.
- 42:09Speaker 6: Colston Loveland, Tyler Smith, Trey Hendrickson, Joe Alt, Carson Schlesinger.
- 42:15Speaker 6: There's your first brown.
- 42:16Speaker 7: All right.
- 42:17Speaker 3: What happened to the music there in the middle? What happened?
- 42:18Speaker 4: That was recorded. I don't want to throw anybody under
- 42:22Speaker 4: the bus, but that was recorded.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Did you say Corey Schlesinger?
- 42:30Speaker 6: Carson Schlesinger is.
- 42:33Speaker 3: His younger brother. There was another Schlesinger. There was. I'm
- 42:39Speaker 3: telling you. Not just Carson.
- 42:42Speaker 4: But this is Schlesinger. You're putting an L in it. Oh, Schlesinger.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Okay, yes. Listen, it's a dumb list.
- 42:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I can see the confusion.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Thank you, Taylor. I appreciate it.
- 42:50Speaker 6: The old ball coach.
- 42:51Speaker 3: I was going to say that, and I'm getting old. Anyway,
- 42:54Speaker 3: keep going.
- 42:56Speaker 6: 84, Xavier McKinney. 83, Deion Dawkins. 82, Andrew Thomas.
- 43:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 43:03Speaker 6: 81, Brian Burns. A couple of giants back-to-back.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 43:08Speaker 6: Number 80.
- 43:09Speaker 3: Yes.
- 43:10Speaker 4: Roquan Smith.
- 43:11Speaker 3: All right. Well, he deserves to be there.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Roquan Smith is a very good football player. And I
- 43:17Speaker 1: would know Roquan Smith if he was co-hosting this show
- 43:19Speaker 1: with me today.
- 43:20Speaker 3: No, you wouldn't.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Yes, I would.
- 43:21Speaker 3: You're right.
- 43:22Speaker 2: I wouldn't.
- 43:22Speaker 3: What am I doing? Why am I trying to convince
- 43:24Speaker 3: myself that I would? I wouldn't. I'm not even certain
- 43:27Speaker 3: I'd recognize Sam Darnold.
