- 0:02Speaker 1: - So everyone should understand that
- 0:04Speaker 1: there's that trust account.
- 0:06Speaker 1: There's ways to make small deposits and large deposits.
- 0:10Speaker 1: All of them require giving.
- 0:11Speaker 1: So if you're going into a relationship,
- 0:14Speaker 1: that relationship's going to have a trust account
- 0:17Speaker 1: that you need to make regular deposits in.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And if you're not making deposits,
- 0:21Speaker 1: you can't make withdrawals.
- 0:23Speaker 2: - You're a man living in the modern world
- 0:26Speaker 2: In a time when men and manhood are not what they once were,
- 0:31Speaker 2: you live life on your own terms.
- 0:34Speaker 2: You're self-sufficient.
- 0:35Speaker 2: You think for yourself
- 0:36Speaker 2: and you march to the beat of your own drum.
- 0:39Speaker 2: When life knocks you down, you get back up
- 0:42Speaker 2: because in your gut, you know that's what men do.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You're a badass and a warrior.
- 0:47Speaker 2: And on the days when you forget,
- 0:49Speaker 2: we are here to remind you who you really are.
- 0:54Nicky Billou: - Welcome to "Sovereign Man Podcast,"
- 0:55Nicky Billou: where we aim to make men masculine again.
- 0:57Nicky Billou: I'm your man, Nicky Billou.
- 0:59Nicky Billou: I'm here with my man, Rob Arpa.
- 1:01Nicky Billou: Welcome, Arps.
- 1:02Nicky Billou: - Thanks, brother.
- 1:03Nicky Billou: - So brother, let's talk a bit about
- 1:06Nicky Billou: entitlement versus gratitude.
- 1:09Nicky Billou: So there's a lot of men today
- 1:12Nicky Billou: that have a communist mindset,
- 1:14Nicky Billou: by which I mean an entitled mindset.
- 1:16Nicky Billou: And men who have a capitalist mindset
- 1:19Nicky Billou: have a gratitude mindset.
- 1:20Nicky Billou: - Yes.
- 1:21Nicky Billou: - So would you talk to me
- 1:24Nicky Billou: about what is the definition of an entitlement mindset
- 1:30Nicky Billou: versus a gratitude mindset?
- 1:32Speaker 1: - Yeah, so I think to put it in plain English as possible,
- 1:39Speaker 1: you know, entitlement is a mindset of someone
- 1:42Speaker 1: that thinks they deserve something, right?
- 1:46Speaker 1: I get this a lot with my business too.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I get young employees that think they deserve,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you know, these higher pay rates and stuff like that.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Uh, like, don't get me wrong.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I understand the, the market conditions they're experiencing.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Then at the same time, you know, someone with zero proven, uh, skill
- 2:06Speaker 1: sets can't really like technically they're not entitled to anything.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Um, so, you know, it's like, it's like an automatic, uh,
- 2:15Speaker 1: qualification for benefit.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You know, you know what I'm saying?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Is that, is that clear to you?
- 2:21Speaker 1: - Gratitude, you know, what the automatic entitlement
- 2:26Speaker 1: to benefit, that's like someone that thinks
- 2:28Speaker 1: that they should receive something of value for nothing,
- 2:33Speaker 1: which technically I guess--
- 2:34Nicky Billou: - They haven't earned it, is what you're trying
- 2:36Nicky Billou: to say here, right?
- 2:37Speaker 1: - Yeah, exactly.
- 2:39Speaker 1: It's unearned.
- 2:39Speaker 1: They think that just because they were born
- 2:42Speaker 1: or migrated to a certain country,
- 2:45Speaker 1: that there's benefits they should receive
- 2:48Speaker 1: just for the sake of being there.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I think that's not the whole socialist/communist platform, is that everybody is equal, when in actuality, that's not really how it works.
- 3:03Nicky Billou: They're not saying everybody's equal, they're saying everybody deserves equal results.
- 3:08Nicky Billou: That's the whole problem.
- 3:10Nicky Billou: Like before God, we're all equal, but we don't all deserve equal results in life. You deserve the results you generate.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I forget who studied it.
- 3:21Nicky Billou: Because Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence said all men are created equal.
- 3:25Nicky Billou: Created equal.
- 3:26Nicky Billou: Right.
- 3:27Nicky Billou: We are all created equal.
- 3:29Nicky Billou: Yes.
- 3:29Nicky Billou: We don't go through life equal in terms of what we deserve.
- 3:35Nicky Billou: What we deserve is a function of what we earn.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Correct?
- 3:41Speaker 1: Well, I think what we earn is a bit of an odd way to say it, but I think it's value.
- 3:51Speaker 1: A lot of people have this odd notion of self-value and what value they produce for somebody else.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Even with the whole idea of a debt currency, I get into arguments with people too around
- 4:04Speaker 1: this debt currency idea.
- 4:06Speaker 1: like if you if you're providing a value to someone else, that are going to pay
- 4:11Speaker 1: you for that value. Now, how much value is a is always a, you know, a great
- 4:18Speaker 1: contention. Yeah, but there's hope because that's an exchange of value, not
- 4:23Speaker 1: a not something for nothing, which is the promise that the socialists and the
- 4:29Speaker 1: communists use as their gateway into into power. But that's not the reality
- 4:36Nicky Billou: of what happens after the fact, right?
- 4:39Speaker 1: So, you know, to have that entitlement and mindset
- 4:42Speaker 1: where youth, where someone thinks
- 4:44Speaker 1: they automatically deserve benefits
- 4:46Speaker 1: without providing any sort of value,
- 4:50Speaker 1: in my eyes is 100% fucking incorrect.
- 4:54Speaker 1: There's absolutely no way.
- 4:56Speaker 1: And like, not for nothing, man,
- 4:58Speaker 1: like I'm not exactly the richest man
- 5:02Speaker 1: that fucking walks the earth,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and I'm quite content with what I get
- 5:06Speaker 1: understand that I get paid for the value that I put out there.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Now, is my self-value slightly higher than my competitors?
- 5:15Speaker 1: Maybe, maybe below.
- 5:17Speaker 1: But I honestly truly believe that in a free, open capitalist market, you are going to get
- 5:25Speaker 1: paid what you deserve based on what kind of value you're producing.
- 5:31Speaker 1: You know, we're now we're saying gratitude mindset, gratitude mindset is someone that
- 5:36Speaker 1: understands, you know, that they aren't there, they're not do anything for nothing.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So you're, you know, so someone that is in that gratitude mindset, is grateful for the
- 5:51Speaker 1: opportunities that they have to express their value in exchange for, you know, some sort
- 5:57Speaker 1: benefit, whether that's cash or something else. And I think that's the thing that gets lost.
- 6:04Speaker 1: A lot of our young students in our social school system, they're being taught this entitlement
- 6:13Speaker 1: behavior. And I think that's partially to do because the school system, post-secondary,
- 6:20Speaker 1: is a for-profit enterprise.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Now, let's be clear, like under taxation,
- 6:25Speaker 1: they might fall under non-profit
- 6:27Speaker 1: because they're going to take a bunch of that profit
- 6:29Speaker 1: and they're going to spend it on stupidities
- 6:31Speaker 1: like stadiums they don't need
- 6:33Speaker 1: and other centers they don't really require
- 6:36Speaker 1: to do the job that they're supposed to do
- 6:38Speaker 1: and they just do that and that.
- 6:40Speaker 1: In my opinion, it'll wait to
- 6:42Speaker 1: launder fucking money.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But the people that are running those institutions,
- 6:45Speaker 1: they're not doing it out of the goodness of their fucking heart.
- 6:48Speaker 1: They're doing it because they're getting paid
- 6:49Speaker 1: and they're getting paid well.
- 6:51Speaker 1: You know, you can look at whoever, you know, the board of directors at U of T, the CEOs
- 6:57Speaker 1: of all these institutions that are post-secondary, they're not doing it for fucking free.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And there's nothing wrong with that.
- 7:05Speaker 1: But I think for them to convolute the message of saying, oh, if you come to our school and
- 7:11Speaker 1: you graduate from this program, you are entitled to these benefits is a load of horseshit that
- 7:18Speaker 1: they should not be spewing.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And I think that's a big problem with our current society today.
- 7:25Speaker 1: People's, you know, students are being told that they are entitled to something because of their education,
- 7:32Speaker 1: which is in fact not true.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And the data actually shows that our forefathers who've learned by doing rather than studying,
- 7:41Speaker 1: actually have an increased efficiency doing the same exact work.
- 7:46Speaker 1: So as they're being replaced by students of school,
- 7:51Speaker 1: their efficiency and therefore their value
- 7:55Speaker 1: is lower than their predecessors who learned,
- 7:58Speaker 1: you know, climbing the ranks and doing it the hard way, so to speak.
- 8:01Nicky Billou: So the truth of the matter is that a man with a gratitude
- 8:05Nicky Billou: mindset is grateful for his opportunities.
- 8:08Nicky Billou: Yes. He does not.
- 8:11Nicky Billou: He does not expect to be handed opportunities. Right.
- 8:16Nicky Billou: He goes out there and finds a way to create
- 8:22Nicky Billou: or uncover opportunity.
- 8:25Nicky Billou: And then he shows gratitude for them and he acts.
- 8:29Nicky Billou: While an entitled person sits there whining,
- 8:33Nicky Billou: complaining because of their neuroses
- 8:36Nicky Billou: and their insecurities.
- 8:37Nicky Billou: And as a result of these neuroses and insecurities,
- 8:40Nicky Billou: they don't actually show any gratitude.
- 8:43Nicky Billou: So opportunities don't come their way.
- 8:45Nicky Billou: and they become part of the problem
- 8:47Nicky Billou: in a free Western society.
- 8:48Nicky Billou: And let's be honest with everybody here.
- 8:51Nicky Billou: There is going to be a time where the productive classes
- 8:55Nicky Billou: are gonna stop giving a crap
- 8:58Nicky Billou: about what the entitled classes think.
- 9:00Nicky Billou: - Yeah.
- 9:00Nicky Billou: - And when that happens,
- 9:01Nicky Billou: - I think it seems to work.
- 9:02Nicky Billou: - If that happens, there's gonna be a cold civil war,
- 9:08Nicky Billou: which I think is already in place.
- 9:10Speaker 1: - Underway.
- 9:11Nicky Billou: - And at some point it could turn hot.
- 9:14Nicky Billou: The problem that these socialist entitled types don't understand is that the capable
- 9:20Nicky Billou: classes will kick the crap out of them if the Civil War ever goes hot.
- 9:25Nicky Billou: Because most of them are the ones who, first of all, have weaponry, right?
- 9:31Nicky Billou: Secondly, know how to use it.
- 9:33Nicky Billou: And thirdly, if they get to the point where they think, "Okay, the only way this is
- 9:36Nicky Billou: gonna go our way is for this to go hot," man, they're gonna fight to win.
- 9:40Nicky Billou: They're gonna be grateful for the opportunity to fight to win.
- 9:43Nicky Billou: While the entitled classes are gonna wind their way to defeat.
- 9:48Nicky Billou: So to me, the entitled socialist Marxist classes are on their way to defeat and oblivion.
- 9:56Nicky Billou: Perhaps even destruction, really.
- 9:58Nicky Billou: Not physical destruction, at least mental and emotional destruction.
- 10:02Nicky Billou: I wonder your thoughts on that, Art?
- 10:04Nicky Billou: Yeah, so you propose a very, very interesting outlook.
- 10:09Speaker 1: That's not exactly what I'm seeing.
- 10:13Speaker 1: let's look at what's going on in today's world, right? Where you have China and Russia as what
- 10:23Speaker 1: we can consider as the, well China's probably the best example of the epitome of what a loosened
- 10:30Speaker 1: version of communism, closest to socialism could possibly be. But we can also see that,
- 10:39Speaker 1: if you remove the Hong Kong portion of that equation out,
- 10:44Speaker 1: nobody emigrates to China.
- 10:46Speaker 1: No one.
- 10:47Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 10:49Speaker 1: People will like, yes, because they're open, Westerners and others will try and do,
- 10:54Speaker 1: you know, business with them.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Yup.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Um, and, and maybe there's some that are there, uh, for, for a portion because of,
- 11:02Speaker 1: because of that business that they do with them, but nobody goes to China for
- 11:06Speaker 1: looking for a better life.
- 11:08Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 11:10Speaker 1: But then when you look at the flip side now, let's look at someone like Javier Mele, who
- 11:15Speaker 1: I'm a fan of, who's gone out and openly said, the stats are out there, having a free and
- 11:26Speaker 1: open market with the least amount of government intervention pulls more people out of poverty
- 11:35Speaker 1: into the middle class and into the upper class
- 11:37Speaker 1: than any other system out there.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And he was fighting to open up Argentina's market
- 11:47Speaker 1: and who is ideally, what he's doing is saying
- 11:50Speaker 1: to everyone in the world, as countries like ours
- 11:54Speaker 1: is trying to cage wealth in the country,
- 11:58Speaker 1: he's looking to attract wealth and investment, right?
- 12:02Speaker 1: Now let's look at like say the state of California
- 12:05Speaker 1: versus the state of Texas,
- 12:07Speaker 1: where California is kind of doing the exact same thing
- 12:09Speaker 1: Canada's doing, where they're trying to entrap
- 12:14Speaker 1: their wealth because it's been driven from them out
- 12:19Speaker 1: to a state like Texas, right?
- 12:23Speaker 1: And states like Texas, same thing with New York.
- 12:26Speaker 1: New York is trying to do the same thing.
- 12:28Speaker 1: They just elected Mandami there who's--
- 12:30Speaker 1: - Yeah, well, he's a communist, right?
- 12:34Speaker 1: He's a communist in socialist clothing,
- 12:35Speaker 1: which is really what it all is.
- 12:37Nicky Billou: - Yeah, he's an obvious, he's almost like
- 12:39Nicky Billou: you're saying he's a communist.
- 12:40Speaker 1: - But he did, he pulled off the exact communist move
- 12:45Speaker 1: where the promise of the socialized programs
- 12:48Speaker 1: with government owned grocery stores or whatever, whatever.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And then it's turned out that,
- 12:54Speaker 1: that's not exactly what he's doing
- 12:56Speaker 1: because the utopian view that they promised
- 13:01Speaker 1: does not fucking exist.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Right, like it's just, it's a marketed lie
- 13:07Speaker 1: to convince people who may be having a rough go at it
- 13:12Speaker 1: or is acting out of pure jealousy and spite.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And that's really what entitlement is, right?
- 13:19Speaker 1: It's a very jealous entitlement,
- 13:24Speaker 1: jealousy that leads to entitlement, right?
- 13:26Speaker 1: Where one person sees what the foods
- 13:29Speaker 1: of another person's labors may be,
- 13:31Speaker 1: and they're like, "Why can't I have that?"
- 13:34Speaker 1: And they don't have the skill set
- 13:35Speaker 1: to provide the value for someone
- 13:37Speaker 1: to earn that and be grateful for it,
- 13:40Speaker 1: so they wanna take it by force.
- 13:42Nicky Billou: - So communism's driven by jealousy and envy,
- 13:45Nicky Billou: while capitalism is driven by, I would say,
- 13:51Nicky Billou: enthusiasm and possibility.
- 13:53Nicky Billou: - Well, I think it's a meritocracy, right?
- 13:56Nicky Billou: It's she who provides the most value.
- 13:59Speaker 1: - No, we already said that.
- 14:01Nicky Billou: I'm talking about what is the emotional underpinning of this.
- 14:05Nicky Billou: The emotional underpinning of communism
- 14:07Nicky Billou: is jealousy and envy, period.
- 14:10Nicky Billou: - I think so.
- 14:10Nicky Billou: - Jealousy and envy.
- 14:11Nicky Billou: The emotional underpinning of free market capitalism
- 14:14Nicky Billou: is excitement, enthusiasm, possibility.
- 14:17Nicky Billou: There's no jealousy, there's no envy.
- 14:19Nicky Billou: There's lots of excitement
- 14:22Nicky Billou: And also gratitude.
- 14:25Speaker 1: - Yeah, gratitude, yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I have not met an individual
- 14:30Speaker 1: who is out there seeking opportunity
- 14:34Speaker 1: and when they achieve that,
- 14:36Speaker 1: they're not grateful for the outcome that they've got.
- 14:42Speaker 1: You know, we see this,
- 14:42Speaker 1: like in the trades, you can see this quite a bit.
- 14:45Speaker 1: And you can tell the difference between,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, the person that owns and operates that business
- 14:51Speaker 1: versus employees that are just working in it,
- 14:54Speaker 1: there's a different sense of gratitude, right?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Where the employer knows like,
- 14:58Speaker 1: when you're working contract to contract,
- 15:01Speaker 1: you know, the next contract is never guaranteed
- 15:05Speaker 1: in a timely fashion.
- 15:07Speaker 1: So they're grateful for that.
- 15:09Speaker 1: But you know, it does come with its benefits, right?
- 15:12Speaker 1: All risk comes with benefits,
- 15:13Speaker 1: higher risk, higher benefit.
- 15:15Speaker 1: But where someone that's just an employee
- 15:17Speaker 1: and punching a clock, you know,
- 15:19Speaker 1: there's always an entitlement and expectation of certain hours pay and whatever.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And regardless of sometimes of their performance, if they've had a real high entitlement attitude,
- 15:31Speaker 1: like if you go to Walmart, I'm sure you'll find a bunch of their employees, they have
- 15:37Speaker 1: this entitlement attitude where they think they're there or they feel, because it's not
- 15:44Speaker 1: logical, they feel they have their worth more than what the action
- 15:48Speaker 1: boards are willing to produce.
- 15:50Speaker 1: And they usually go under the lie of, you know, I'll do more if you pay me more
- 15:55Speaker 1: upfront and it's like, yeah, that's not always how it goes.
- 16:00Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:01Speaker 1: That's not.
- 16:02Nicky Billou: So what can a man who's listening to this do to be more grateful and less entitled?
- 16:09Speaker 1: More grateful and less entitled.
- 16:11Speaker 1: That's, that's a, that's a good question.
- 16:14Speaker 1: you know, because that's gonna, that's almost like a whole state of being change.
- 16:20Speaker 1: You know, how did you ask the question, man?
- 16:23Speaker 1: That thought's come up, like how many times have I stood around a circle
- 16:27Speaker 1: and I hear some of the men getting into the entitlement behavior
- 16:31Speaker 1: and then, you know, this whole discussion of, you know, the entitlement comes up
- 16:36Speaker 1: and it's like, look man, instead of being an entitled brat,
- 16:41Speaker 1: be grateful for the opportunity.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Right. Because, you know, no employee has,
- 16:47Speaker 1: you know, the right to to do a half-assed job.
- 16:51Speaker 1: You know, you're you're you're hired to do that.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And it's like everyone's like needs to embrace the
- 17:00Speaker 1: the the give it your best or stretch your best.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Right. Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Because unless you're exceeding expectation, you really don't have
- 17:10Speaker 1: but the grounds to ask or demand for more.
- 17:16Speaker 1: I forget who said it,
- 17:19Speaker 1: someone I think it was an old idea mantra
- 17:22Speaker 1: from back in the 70s and 80s
- 17:23Speaker 1: was to only promise 10% and always look to over deliver
- 17:28Speaker 1: as if every client was the last
- 17:30Speaker 1: and there was nothing else left after.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, like that's a good quality to possess.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Always try to over deliver on what you promised.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And you know, entirely--
- 17:43Nicky Billou: - Grateful people over deliver.
- 17:45Nicky Billou: So to be more grateful,
- 17:47Nicky Billou: you gotta have an over deliver mindset.
- 17:50Speaker 1: - Yeah, yeah.
- 17:52Speaker 1: To be an over, always look,
- 17:54Speaker 1: whatever the agreement your employer gives you,
- 17:58Speaker 1: take that as your bare minimum standard of operating.
- 18:04Speaker 1: And if you're going to do the bare minimum,
- 18:08Speaker 1: expect the bare minimum.
- 18:10Speaker 1: And I get it.
- 18:11Speaker 1: You know, there are, you know, people will say,
- 18:14Speaker 1: well, you know, I've done X, Y, I've done more,
- 18:16Speaker 1: I've done this, and my employer's taken advantage of me.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 18:20Speaker 1: But that's a very small picture.
- 18:23Speaker 1: This is your experience only where you need to balance
- 18:26Speaker 1: and take a look at now,
- 18:28Speaker 1: is it possible that the company cannot afford to pay more?
- 18:33Speaker 1: If you're doing such a great job
- 18:34Speaker 1: and if that employer is not treating you well,
- 18:36Speaker 1: then why stay there?
- 18:37Speaker 1: Go look for other employment.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I can't tell you how many people I've come across
- 18:44Speaker 1: that have this mentality where
- 18:47Speaker 1: they won't leave the position they're in,
- 18:49Speaker 1: they're going to sit there and wait until they're fired.
- 18:52Speaker 1: And it's such an odd way of seeing--
- 18:55Speaker 1: - That's an entitled mentality.
- 18:56Speaker 1: - Very, very entitled, right?
- 18:59Speaker 1: You think you're worth more,
- 19:00Speaker 1: So you're going to do less until you're terminated, which makes
- 19:05Speaker 1: that zero, zero sets, but that's why people earn the least amount
- 19:10Speaker 1: of money that they earn.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Most employers, believe it or not, for people that aren't employed,
- 19:15Speaker 1: that are listening to this, an employer's expectation of you doing
- 19:19Speaker 1: your job is at a 50% level.
- 19:21Speaker 1: If you do half the job you're supposed to do, they will, they will drag
- 19:26Speaker 1: your employment out in definitely.
- 19:29Speaker 1: If you do more and you, you know, you threaten to leave 75% more, they might
- 19:35Speaker 1: entertain it.
- 19:36Speaker 1: You do a hundred percent more like they're, they're going to do whatever they can to
- 19:40Speaker 1: keep you.
- 19:41Speaker 1: But if you're doing 50% or less and you threaten to leave, they're not going to
- 19:46Speaker 1: care.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:47Speaker 1: They're going to kick your ass out.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I've got employees in my, in my organization right now that are 50% or less.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Uh, but they're smart enough to know that if they threatened to leave that I just
- 19:59Speaker 1: told him to walk.
- 20:00Speaker 1: So they haven't done that, but, uh, we'll be actively looking to replace some of
- 20:05Speaker 1: them, you know, this spring.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:07Speaker 1: It's facts.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It's facts.
- 20:09Speaker 1: No.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Well, yeah.
- 20:10Speaker 1: At the end of the day, as, as the employer, I have to, I have to look out for
- 20:15Speaker 1: what's best for everyone and their families and not just one individual and, and
- 20:21Speaker 1: their own circumstances.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I need to make sure our company is profitable for the longevity for everybody involved.
- 20:31Speaker 1: That's not just a single employee.
- 20:33Speaker 1: That's nine of them, their families, my suppliers, their families.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Everyone's got a stake in our business to succeed.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So I can't make full business decisions based on one person.
- 20:46Speaker 1: That's not going to happen.
- 20:47Speaker 1: It's not going to work in their favor.
- 20:49Speaker 1: someone that's grateful and expresses gratitude, you know,
- 20:53Speaker 1: they'll, they'll go above and beyond to do their job.
- 20:55Speaker 1: They'll be happy to do their job.
- 20:57Speaker 1: They'll be happy to earn what they earn.
- 20:59Speaker 1: And, you know, if someone did that job that well, and came to me and asked me,
- 21:04Speaker 1: you know, can, can you afford to pay me a little more?
- 21:07Speaker 1: I would do everything I could to ensure that they were being happy.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I love it.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Love it.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I think another, another thing too, the entitlement versus the gratitude thing.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I find that people who have an entitled mentality are often not spiritual people.
- 21:27Nicky Billou: Yeah, entitled or not.
- 21:30Nicky Billou: Not spiritual at all.
- 21:32Nicky Billou: Not only that, they don't believe in God.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: You know, it's crazy.
- 21:40Speaker 1: But even science doesn't carry.
- 21:42Nicky Billou: They are atheists.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah, they're weird people.
- 21:46Speaker 1: They are odd people.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I've never met...
- 21:49Speaker 1: - They are weird and odd.
- 21:51Speaker 1: - Like I've met some religious people that are not nice,
- 21:54Speaker 1: but I've never met a religious person
- 21:56Speaker 1: that wasn't grateful to some extent for what they have.
- 22:02Nicky Billou: - You are spitting facts, Mark.
- 22:04Nicky Billou: You are spitting facts.
- 22:05Nicky Billou: This is 1000% correct.
- 22:07Nicky Billou: - Yeah.
- 22:07Nicky Billou: - 1000% correct.
- 22:09Speaker 1: - Yeah, so my advice to anyone that's out there,
- 22:13Speaker 1: enter into the workplace with a great,
- 22:16Speaker 1: having that mindset of being grateful,
- 22:19Speaker 1: that gratitude mindset.
- 22:20Speaker 1: - But this is more about just the workplace, okay?
- 22:22Nicky Billou: This is about life.
- 22:24Nicky Billou: - This is life.
- 22:24Nicky Billou: - As a whole, right?
- 22:25Nicky Billou: 'Cause it's--
- 22:26Nicky Billou: - Yeah, well as--
- 22:27Nicky Billou: - You're in a relationship with somebody,
- 22:29Nicky Billou: and as a man, you can't be some entitled little punk.
- 22:33Nicky Billou: You know, you're gonna lose that friendship,
- 22:36Nicky Billou: you're gonna lose that relationship, it's over.
- 22:38Nicky Billou: You gotta be grateful you're in the relationship.
- 22:41Nicky Billou: - Yeah, yeah.
- 22:42Nicky Billou: - Right?
- 22:43Nicky Billou: - When you're in ties with somebody,
- 22:44Nicky Billou: you can't be entitled to that friendship.
- 22:47Nicky Billou: You gotta be grateful that you're friends with that person.
- 22:50Nicky Billou: I'm grateful you and I are friends.
- 22:52Nicky Billou: I'm fucking super grateful.
- 22:54Nicky Billou: I'm grateful that you and I work together in Sovereign Man.
- 22:57Nicky Billou: I'm a thousand percent grateful.
- 22:59Nicky Billou: Like every freaking day, I'm like,
- 23:01Nicky Billou: fuck, pinch me, man, I'm not doing this all by myself.
- 23:03Nicky Billou: I got ARPA helping me out.
- 23:05Nicky Billou: I'm so grateful.
- 23:05Speaker 1: - And a few others, yeah.
- 23:07Nicky Billou: - Yeah, and a few others too, for sure.
- 23:08Nicky Billou: - And a few others, yeah.
- 23:09Nicky Billou: - It started with you and me,
- 23:11Nicky Billou: and as we were going through this,
- 23:12Nicky Billou: we thought, you know what, we're gonna need
- 23:13Nicky Billou: to grow other leaders and we're gonna need help.
- 23:17Nicky Billou: And the more people we brought into leadership,
- 23:20Nicky Billou: easier things got for us, right?
- 23:22Nicky Billou: Those less stuff, shit that we had to do
- 23:26Nicky Billou: because many hands make for light work.
- 23:29Speaker 1: - Yes, 100%.
- 23:31Speaker 1: And that's the truth in any endeavor.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I think, you know, in terms of many hands
- 23:38Speaker 1: making for light work, maybe the process
- 23:41Speaker 1: which, you know, a task is accomplished, it wouldn't be the same way you do it.
- 23:45Speaker 1: You know, or maybe the outcome isn't as good as someone, you know, as you would
- 23:48Speaker 1: do it, but at least it gets done to this level of competency until you find, you
- 23:53Speaker 1: know, the individuals that will, uh, you know, exceed expectations.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So it's happened to us before where someone's done something slightly
- 24:00Speaker 1: different, but the, the results were better.
- 24:02Speaker 1: And then all the time.
- 24:04Nicky Billou: Had all the freaking client.
- 24:07Nicky Billou: People need to understand that, right.
- 24:10Nicky Billou: They really do.
- 24:11Speaker 1: - Yeah, I think if there's takeaways,
- 24:15Speaker 1: I think men should take away,
- 24:17Speaker 1: drop the entitlement, and the man's entitled to shit.
- 24:22Speaker 1: And I don't remember if it was Jordan Peterson
- 24:25Speaker 1: that said it or who said it,
- 24:27Speaker 1: but one of them had said like,
- 24:29Speaker 1: when it comes to equality and socialism,
- 24:34Speaker 1: everyone's out there,
- 24:36Speaker 1: they're fighting for equality of outcome,
- 24:39Speaker 1: not equality of opportunity.
- 24:42Speaker 1: - And that's nuts.
- 24:43Speaker 1: - And that's crazy, because to think that every person
- 24:47Speaker 1: has the exact same skill set to produce
- 24:50Speaker 1: the exact same results is absolutely ludicrous.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Ludicrous.
- 24:56Speaker 1: I know how to skate, but I'm not great at fucking hockey,
- 24:59Speaker 1: so I don't expect to get NHL player style wages
- 25:03Speaker 1: and whatever they get.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I don't expect that at all.
- 25:08Speaker 1: but I am grateful for the opportunities that I have doing the work that I do.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And I'm happy about that.
- 25:15Speaker 1: And, you know, you should be on being grateful.
- 25:18Speaker 1: We, you know, men that are out there, you know, you should have a givers mentality,
- 25:24Speaker 1: you know, back in my old day and I day.
- 25:26Speaker 1: So they used to say givers gain because yeah, the gentleman wrote a book on that
- 25:31Speaker 1: because he's the person that did the whole thing.
- 25:33Speaker 1: But, you know, in our circles, we, we, we talk about, um, uh, the, the, uh,
- 25:38Speaker 1: what's it called the, uh, the, uh, account there, the, um, uh, the words.
- 25:43Speaker 1: This gives you a little help me out here.
- 25:45Speaker 1: The, the, the, it's always part of, uh, early issue of training.
- 25:50Nicky Billou: There, you're telling me, and then I'll be able to say, cause I'm not sure.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Um, the, uh, the council.
- 25:55Speaker 1: So doing things for others allows you to make deposits into,
- 25:59Speaker 1: uh, trust account, trust account.
- 26:02Speaker 1: There we go.
- 26:03Speaker 1: a trust account. So everyone should understand that there's that trust account. And there's
- 26:10Speaker 1: ways to make small deposits and large deposits. All of them require giving. So if you're going
- 26:17Speaker 1: into a relationship, understand that relationship's going to have a trust account that you need
- 26:24Speaker 1: to make regular deposits in. So if you turn it around, and if it doesn't have to be a
- 26:29Speaker 1: significant other, it could be your friend, a friendship of sorts.
- 26:35Speaker 1: And if you're not making deposits, you can't make withdrawals.
- 26:37Speaker 1: The unfortunate part is, unlike today's bank where if they hold your cash and make some
- 26:43Speaker 1: kind of interest on that investment, that generally doesn't happen with trust accounts.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Withdrawals cost a lot more than the deposits do, but regardless of the fact, if you're
- 26:54Speaker 1: making deposits, you know, through, you know, small deposits could be things like
- 26:59Speaker 1: showing up to events, you know, where, where larger deposits are giving your
- 27:04Speaker 1: best to what you do, you know, everyone loves, you know, likes it when someone
- 27:08Speaker 1: goes above and beyond what they promise.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Those are larger deposits.
- 27:11Speaker 1: And then you, you can, you can draw from that.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Um, it's worked for me in my life.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I've been able to accomplish quite a few things by, by building
- 27:21Speaker 1: trust and drawing on it.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:23Speaker 1: So that's things to understand, be grateful for everything you have,
- 27:29Speaker 1: seek out to do the best and make the largest deposits possible.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And then when the times comes, be grateful when you pull out withdrawal,
- 27:36Speaker 1: because you're not entitled to that withdrawal.
- 27:38Speaker 1: You put the work in, sure, but there's no entitlement around that.
- 27:41Speaker 1: - No entitlement to anything.
- 27:43Speaker 1: - No, you're not entitled to anything.
- 27:46Speaker 1: No, but you should be, you know, but when you, when you make the ask and the,
- 27:50Speaker 1: and the other party agrees and shows up, be grateful, be happy.
- 27:56Speaker 1: - Yeah.
- 27:56Speaker 1: - It's a much way better way to live life in gratitude rather than entitlement.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Because entitlement always leads you down a suck hole of hate, anger, and jealousy,
- 28:08Speaker 1: where being grateful, you know, leads to, you know, happiness and contentment.
- 28:13Speaker 1: And you know, what else would someone else want to be?
- 28:15Speaker 1: Why wouldn't you want to be happy?
- 28:17Speaker 1: - Not a thing.
- 28:19Nicky Billou: A man is going to win in life when he's grateful and he's happy and he's content and he's gonna lose in life when he's
- 28:26Nicky Billou: uh angry jealous
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah, i've never have you ever met a
- 28:33Speaker 1: person
- 28:34Speaker 1: Who's created a lot of wealth that was angry
- 28:38Speaker 1: Or entitled. Yeah, never never not one person
- 28:42Speaker 1: They're always grateful grateful for everything even if even when they're when they're paying me
- 28:48Speaker 1: for doing labor, they're always grateful.
- 28:51Speaker 1: They really are.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:53Speaker 1: They really are.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 1: It's a beautiful thing.
- 28:56Speaker 1: It's a much way better way of being grateful.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Great episode, Art. Thanks very much.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, anytime. Did we hit all the points that you wanted to get?
- 29:07Nicky Billou: Yeah. This topic was well looked over, and we really gave it a strong level of
- 29:18Nicky Billou: and we explained the difference between gratitude and entitlement very powerfully and we
- 29:24Nicky Billou: Gave men a really good question to ask themselves, which is how can I be more grateful and less entitled in life?
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yeah
- 29:31Nicky Billou: And if every man wakes up every day and asks that question of himself and spends just a minute thinking about it
- 29:36Nicky Billou: Just a minute man. You'll come up with some good answers. I hope them have a better day
- 29:41Nicky Billou: Yeah, and that's what we aim to do on the sovereign. Yes, sir
- 29:46Nicky Billou: And that's a wrap.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Thank you for listening to the Sovereign Man Podcast.
- 29:53Speaker 2: If you're ready to take charge of your life and become the man you've always wanted to be,
- 29:57Speaker 2: we invite you to join the movement at sovereignman.ca.
