- 0:58my introductions and ending of my videos, you can go to the
- 1:02front page and check out all my music albums for absolutely
- 1:06free. I have 5 albums.
- 1:08You can listen to them on YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon
- 1:12Music and hundreds of other outlets.
- 1:15You can also check me out on the radio and Spotify, which is also
- 1:19connected to over 700 outlets. While you're on the front page
- 1:24of my YouTube channel, my main page, you can check out my
- 1:27community section where I promote and plug other Youtubers

- 1:36I also have a section for my live shows that are scheduled.
- 1:40If you have a microphone, you're welcome to participate in any of
- 1:44the conversations that I do. Today we're going to be
- 1:47responding to a Christian YouTube by the name of Proverbs.
- 1:52Who's concerned about me? Who's worried about me and my
- 1:56well-being? Let's take a listen.
- 2:00I'll be quiet until you ask for my take.
- 2:07Cool. I'll hang back until you ask for
- 2:09my thoughts. Sounds good, I'll jump in when
- 2:18you ask. Hey everybody, Steven here with
- 2:23Proverbs Guys Ministries. Thanks for coming by today.
- 2:27I wanted to talk briefly about something I've gone over before,
- 2:30but something that I just really feel could be benefited by re
- 2:35examining again. And what I want to go over and
- 2:39probably won't take long on this video, but I want to give a
- 2:42shout out to a friend of mine, Brett Keene.
- 2:45And the reason I want to give a shout out to Brett Keene is
- 2:48because in my opinion, well, there's multiple reasons.
- 2:53But for one thing, in my opinion, Brett Keene has the
- 2:58most underrated testimony on all of social media, on all of
- 3:03YouTube. And I have reasons for believing
- 3:06that. It's not just because Brett is a
- 3:08friend of mine, although he is. I consider Brett a friend, even
- 3:12though Brett and I have had some troubled waters in the past.
- 3:15I do consider Brett my friend. And the reason I think that his
- 3:19testimony is underrated is because he's treated as if he is
- 3:26the black sheep in the Christian faith.
- 3:30And I can understand to a small degree why that could be.
- 3:35So Brett is rough around the edges.
- 3:39I'm one of the first ones to admit that he is absolutely a
- 3:42little rough around the edges. I talk to Brett all the time
- 3:45about his language, you know, I struggle occasionally with using
- 3:51words I shouldn't use also, but Brett does it so freely it even
- 3:55makes me blush. And I think maybe because of
- 3:59that, Christians shy away from him.
- 4:02They won't promote his content. And he's also stigmatized in a
- 4:07way that whenever he does shows, he wants fellowship, he wants
- 4:15engagement, he wants to socialize.
- 4:18But Christians never show up. Or when they do show up, it's
- 4:22for a brief time and then they go, you know, when Brett is
- 4:28doing these types of shows, it would be very helpful if
- 4:33Christians would go on and support him.
- 4:37You know, we often go through Brett's channel and maybe we see
- 4:40that he's got several atheists on there and they're cussing up
- 4:43a storm. But Brett's panels are always
- 4:47open. They're never closed panels,
- 4:49ever. And if the Christians refused to
- 4:54show up, Brett is alone on an island, so when the atheists do
- 5:00come by, he's stuck engaging them by himself, often times
- 5:04outnumbered. And it would just be nice if he
- 5:09could get some more support, you know?
- 5:12If more Christians showed up and helped have Brett's back, I
- 5:18believe that it would take a lot of the roughness off his edges.
- 5:22Now I'm the first one to tell you all that I'm not a big fan
- 5:24of his cussing, but I still watch almost every video he
- 5:28does. Maybe not the live streams
- 5:30because they're longer, but all of his videos are roughly 20
- 5:33minutes to 30 minutes. They're not long videos.
- 5:36And you know, even if you don't sit there and watch it and you
- 5:39just let it play in the background, that helps.
- 5:42It helps him spread some of his content because we are under
- 5:46utilizing Brett Keene. You know another thing I can say
- 5:50about Brett Keene is 4 years ago when I was new on YouTube, and
- 5:55I've said this before, I say it publicly as often as I want.
- 6:00When I was new on YouTube, I had no help from the Christian
- 6:04community. I had no assistance.
- 6:07I also was alone on an island and Brett Keene took me under
- 6:12his wing. Brett Keene showed me the ropes
- 6:16of YouTube. Still with you, You know I was.
- 6:18Very naive and I was overly trusting and Brett even taught
- 6:22me some valuable lessons about not trusting people you meet on
- 6:26social media. You know, Brett was a godsend.
- 6:29You know, with or without The Dirty language.
- 6:32Brett showed me so much about YouTube ministry and how to
- 6:36engage atheists and how to provoke them into a
- 6:39conversation. I'm here whenever you're ready
- 6:41for. Things that I would have never
- 6:42learned from top notch creationists or any of the
- 6:48pastors. This is something that had to be
- 6:51from Brett Keene because Brett Keene is a seasoned YouTube
- 6:54warrior. You know, I have said many times
- 6:57that Brett Keene was the original king of YouTube.
- 7:02And I still believe that, you know, Brett had 10s of thousands
- 7:07of subscribers on various channels multiple times.
- 7:12And I realize in hindsight that doesn't sound like a lot, right?
- 7:16It's YouTube in 2025. It's not that difficult to to
- 7:21get thousands of subscribers. But what I want to remind you of
- 7:25is that Brett Keene did this when YouTube was relatively new.
- 7:30OK? So having 10s of thousands of
- 7:33subscribers was a huge deal. It was gigantic.
- 7:38And that was Brett. Brett was there through all of
- 7:41it. Brett became a target for all
- 7:49the big atheist groups because he flipped sides.
- 7:53Brett had an encounter with the saving power of the Holy Spirit
- 7:59and he met his maker. Brett Keene found Jesus, or
- 8:03rather, Jesus found Brettt. That put a huge bullseye on
- 8:11Brett Keene's back. And that bullseye has not gone
- 8:14away. You know, to this day, every
- 8:17time I go on one of Brett's streams, one of the drunken
- 8:20peasant fans comes on, they start shouting N words, and then
- 8:25they leave. And then as soon as they shout
- 8:27the N words, they themselves go and report his videos for racial
- 8:32slurs. They'll go and report his
- 8:34channel for promoting hate speech when it was those
- 8:38atheists who are actually making the report who said the hateful
- 8:42things. You know, I've been on Brett's
- 8:45shows for a long time. I've talked to Brett backstage
- 8:50many times. I have never heard Brett Keene
- 8:53use a racial slur. But they still target him as a
- 8:58racially motivated person on YouTube whose channel needs to
- 9:02be taken down because he harbors that sort of hate speech.
- 9:07And that is a lie. That is a lie that makes me lose
- 9:11a lot of respect for atheists because they themselves are the
- 9:15ones propagating this type of disgusting behavior.
- 9:18And yet then they will go report his channel for what they said
- 9:21to try to get him off the Internet.
- 9:24Atheists are terrified of Brett Keene.
- 9:27If you don't believe that, go to the Drunken Peasants YouTube
- 9:30channel. Look at their subscriber base,
- 9:33look at their videos and see how many of their videos are
- 9:38directly insults and attacks on Brett Keene.
- 9:42Atheists hate Brett Keene because Brett Keene was the
- 9:46biggest YouTube atheist that there was.
- 9:49He was the king. Aaron Raw in his current fame
- 9:53has nothing on Brett Keene. Brett Keene was the lead voice
- 9:59for the atheist. He made Christians look dumb.
- 10:01His arguments were, I hate to say, very good.
- 10:06They were very wrong, but they were very good.
- 10:15Now, the thing about Brett is that he does not back down, and
- 10:20sometimes it would even be wiser for him to.
- 10:23But that's not built into Brett Keene's DNA.
- 10:26Brett Keene is wired in a much different way, a lot like
- 10:30myself. If we see a noble fight and we
- 10:33believe in it, we will take that fight on until the very end.
- 10:37And there is nothing you can do to change our minds.
- 10:42So when Brett had his encounter with the God of the Creator
- 10:46universe, he became a Christian. He flipped sides and he
- 10:52immediately turned his channel into a witnessing tool to try to
- 10:56undo the damage he had done as an atheist.
- 10:58And in all accounts, I think Brett Keene was successful.
- 11:03I think he was successful. I think that's why the atheists
- 11:05hate him so bad today. And that's why the atheists want
- 11:11so desperately to keep taking down whatever channels Brett
- 11:16Keene makes. That's why I want to.
- 11:18I want to encourage and challenge believers on YouTube.
- 11:24If you have a microphone and a headset and you have Internet
- 11:28access, challenge you to support Brett Keene.
- 11:33I challenge you to help disciple him.
- 11:36I challenge you to befriend him. You know, it's hard to complain
- 11:41that Brett Keene has all these conversations with atheists and
- 11:45Satanists and all the like when we never show up.
- 11:50You know, besides Smokey St. in TTOR and Myself and Praise the I
- 11:54Am and a couple handfuls of others, Brett gets virtually no
- 11:58support from the Christian community.
- 12:01They won't watch his videos. They won't like his content,
- 12:03they won't spread his content. And I get it.
- 12:06I get that he's got the rough edges.
- 12:08I've already said that. I also acknowledge his rough
- 12:12edges. But it's really hard to knock
- 12:16off the rough edges if you don't have that Proverbs 2717 type of
- 12:20fellowship, the iron sharpening iron.
- 12:25You know, if he doesn't have Christians to brush up against,
- 12:29how is he ever going to lose those sharp edges?
- 12:33So what I want to do with this video is 1.
- 12:35Encourage Brett to keep going. I think his content is amazing.
- 12:39I think he has the voice of a YouTube Angel and I think Brett
- 12:43is one of the minor heroes in the faith because of his
- 12:47testimony. Because he went from full
- 12:49popularity and full support in making a fortune on YouTube with
- 12:55the atheist to being slandered, lied about, harassed constantly.
- 13:01His family has had death threats.
- 13:04I would hate to spend a day listening to Brett Keene's
- 13:08voicemail because I can only imagine what it is like.
- 13:12I've heard horror stories about it before of the kind of things
- 13:17that he gets, and it's disgusting.
- 13:19And it would, man. It would break me and it would
- 13:22break a lesser man. But Brett is not a lesser man.
- 13:26Brett has the thick skin to take it.
- 13:29So my call for Christians is to help him wherever we can go on
- 13:36his shows. Invite him onto your show.
- 13:45All right, so let me put this on here real quick.
- 13:53How are you doing today? I'm doing great, thanks.
- 13:57How about you? Feeling ready for this YouTube
- 14:00adventure? Yeah, OK, so here's the deal.
- 14:04Listen to me, a YouTube by the name of Proverbs Guy Ministries,
- 14:10who I've talked to off and on for some time.
- 14:13He cares very deeply about me and he's trying to help me out
- 14:16on YouTube. Years ago, I went from being an
- 14:20atheist to a Christian, and since then the atheist have
- 14:24treated me like an apostate. They attacked me, they make
- 14:27death threats. They tried to destroy my YouTube
- 14:31channels. They raid my live shows and call
- 14:35me all kinds of names and all that and use racial slurs.
- 14:38And then on top of that they attempt to report me for what
- 14:42they did in my rooms. It's basically a tactic or
- 14:45strategy in order to knock down my account.
- 14:50Mr. Proverbs guy. He points out that since all
- 14:55these years have went by as a Christian, he refers to me as a
- 14:59black sheep, as though the Christian community has
- 15:03abandoned me. And one of the reasons that he
- 15:06states is because sometimes I use foul language whenever I'm
- 15:10talking, and he has suggested for me to work on that.
- 15:14And believe it or not, even though I still use quite a bit
- 15:17of cuss words, it's definitely a lot less than it used to be.
- 15:20For sure. He believes that whenever I do
- 15:24my live shows, because I do open panels, I'm surrounded by
- 15:28atheists constantly with very little Christian support.
- 15:32This was according to his assertion and his claim, and
- 15:36there is some truth to it. I have felt like being a
- 15:42Christian is a very lonely fight.
- 15:45I feel like there's a lot of Christians who are so busy
- 15:48arguing with each other as opposed to assisting each other
- 15:52and being friendly and working with me in order to sow seeds.
- 15:56I've always seen myself as a magnet for atheist and I've felt
- 16:01like the service of a Christian is to support each other,
- 16:06fellowship, and also be able to sow seeds to non believers who
- 16:10are blind or can't see you know to be the guide for them.
- 16:16Unfortunately most of the time I do find myself alone when
- 16:20dealing with massive amounts of non believers.
- 16:24There is however TTOR there's Proverbs guy and Smokey St.
- 16:29These three have been very helpful, so as praise I am,
- 16:32whenever he and I are not having issues with each other, these
- 16:37men have assisted and they've helped, including Smokey Saint's
- 16:42wife. Even before me and Smokey became
- 16:47friends and all that, Lowe used to come into my room and she was
- 16:50really cool, very respectful and she's a funny person, extremely
- 16:55intelligent and a very blunt and honest person.
- 16:59So what do you think after me giving you a summary of the
- 17:03video? What are your suggestions and
- 17:05advice? How should I deal with the
- 17:08Christians and how should I deal with the atheist?
- 17:11Go ahead. It sounds like you've been
- 17:15carrying a lot, Brett. Being pulled in two directions
- 17:19like that with the atheists staying true to your voice
- 17:22matters. Don't let their noise drown out
- 17:25your message. Maybe set some boundaries like
- 17:28muting or ignoring the worst of it so it doesn't drain you.
- 17:31As for the Christians, you might try reaching out more directly,
- 17:35maybe a live stream just for them to build that fellowship.
- 17:38What do you think would help you feel more supported by your own
- 17:40community? So the problem is is that I have
- 17:46actually created many live shows and I've invited everybody,
- 17:50including Kristen's. I get Smokey, I get TTR, and
- 17:55every once in a while I get praise I am.
- 17:59Unfortunately, TTOR has been very busy for the last few
- 18:02months working for his church, Smokey.
- 18:06However, since he's gotten involved in his relationship
- 18:09with LO, they're getting ready to get married and they're
- 18:12interested in having a child. He hasn't been on as often
- 18:16either. He's he's on, but not as much as
- 18:20he used to. And then there's praise.
- 18:22I am praise. I am is busy going after some
- 18:27fake Christians out there who've been doing some very naughty
- 18:30things. So he's too busy with his
- 18:33friends dealing with hypocritical Christians out
- 18:37there or self-proclaimed Christians.
- 18:40So I find it difficult to find soldiers in Christ to work with
- 18:45to help me or assist me with atheists who come in and want to
- 18:49debate or have discussions. And unfortunately, a lot of the
- 18:53atheists who come in, they only stay in for five seconds just so
- 18:57they can scream some kind of derogatory term or nasty stuff.
- 19:03Sometimes the shows turn out really, really good, and
- 19:06sometimes they're just kind of boring because you get people
- 19:09who just want to be nasty, say something ignorant or make a
- 19:12false accusation. So I'm not really sure what to
- 19:16do. I've reached out to everybody.
- 19:19I'm not losing my faith or anything like that.
- 19:22The Bible says that if you believe in Jesus, people will
- 19:26hate you. People will be second by you,
- 19:29they won't want to be around you.
- 19:31That is what it is. By becoming a Christian,
- 19:34converting away from atheism, I have been hurt financially.
- 19:39I've also been hurt on viewership because I don't have
- 19:43the same atheist group watching me because I'm a Christian now I
- 19:48rely and depend on other people and other groups and
- 19:51communities. Unfortunately, they don't seem
- 19:54as though they're interested in helping one another.
- 19:57Your thoughts? It's tough feeling like you're
- 20:01on this island, Brett. Maybe the answer isn't in bigger
- 20:04numbers, but in a smaller, tighter group.
- 20:07What if you focused on those who do show up?
- 20:09Maybe ask them what would make joining easier?
- 20:12And with the atheists, could you turn their quick hits into
- 20:14something roductive, like inviting the respectful ones for
- 20:17deeper talks? How does that sit with you?
- 20:22Well, it's a great idea. Unfortunately, I've already done
- 20:25that. I've already stated, almost at
- 20:27the beginning of every video I've ever done that the good
- 20:31atheists are more than welcome to come in, that I am more than
- 20:34happy to have open discussions with them, the Bates, if they
- 20:38want to. Or we could just sit back and
- 20:40shoot the shit. That's the problem, though.
- 20:43That's where the catch is. They seem like they want to sit
- 20:47back and make nasty videos as opposed to actually engage me
- 20:51and interact. Maybe you've got to let go of
- 20:56hoping they'll change. Focus on those who do engage.
- 20:59Build a space where depth matters.
- 21:01If they're just making nasty videos, let them.
- 21:04Your energy's too precious. Does shifting your focus like
- 21:07that feel right? I've tried all kinds of
- 21:13different alternatives. To be honest with you, there's
- 21:17probably nothing you'd be able to recommend that I haven't
- 21:19already tried. And the people who are closest
- 21:23to me? I do everything I can to make
- 21:26sure I share their videos and like their stuff and make sure I
- 21:29leave comments. Every time I see one of my
- 21:32Christian friends, brothers, and sisters do a live show, I always
- 21:36like it before it even starts because I know that they're
- 21:39going to make quality content. They don't even have to ask.
- 21:44But that's the that's the conundrum or the dichotomy that
- 21:48I find myself in. I'd love to be able to have a
- 21:51room where Christians come together and talk about their
- 21:54testimonies and their lives. And I would like to be able to
- 21:58have Christians, more Christians around me that can actually help
- 22:01me with my behavior and also help me with more understanding
- 22:08of the Bible. I still consider myself like a
- 22:11student. I'm still learning every single
- 22:13day, and I listen. Unfortunately, I don't have a
- 22:17lot of Christians that I can go talk to and ask questions to
- 22:21because they're either too busy fighting with other Christians
- 22:24or dealing with an atheist on their end.
- 22:27So it's hard to just hang out privately with people and chill
- 22:33out in that type of way. They're always too busy.
- 22:36They always got something on their plate.
- 22:39It is what it is. I think I've become accustomed
- 22:42to it. I think I realize and have
- 22:44accepted my role in in the social media community of
- 22:49Christianity. You've got a lot of insight into
- 22:53this. Maybe it's less about fixing the
- 22:55situation and more about honoring your role.
- 22:58You're out there holding the line.
- 23:00Keep connecting with those who do show up, and if you ever feel
- 23:03the loneliness creeping in, remember it's OK to just be what
- 23:07keeps you going when it feels heavy.
- 23:11I keep thinking that even though the people who do engage me in
- 23:15negative ways, although they may not be listening or pay
- 23:19attention. I just remember back in the time
- 23:23on Facebook or other social media sites where a non believer
- 23:27might message me and say that my videos help them to find Jesus
- 23:31Christ. Or I get a Christian who
- 23:34messages me and says that I listen to your videos all the
- 23:37time. I just don't leave comments or
- 23:40say things because I don't want to be trolled by non believers
- 23:43or attacked like you're getting attacked.
- 23:46So quietly and privately, from time to time, people tell me how
- 23:53my videos have benefited them. So I think about whenever I'm
- 23:57doing my videos about those, I'm actually helping those I'm
- 24:00getting through to, and I kind of ignore the evil.
- 24:07That's powerful, Brett. Focusing on those quiet
- 24:09victories keeps the heart in it, right?
- 24:11It's like planting seeds. Sometimes you don't see them
- 24:14grow right away. How do you stay connected to
- 24:16that sense of purpose when the noise gets loud?
- 24:20I think it would be a different story if it wasn't for my
- 24:23beautiful wife and my fantastic kids that I have.
- 24:27Once I turn my computer off and get away from all the noise, I
- 24:31can sit back and watch a film, something good with my wife.
- 24:35I can go to the movies, watch something like Spider Man or The
- 24:39Avengers with my son or my daughter and I.
- 24:42We like to watch ATV show called Strange Things and also like to
- 24:47watch The X-Files and Supernatural and just all kinds
- 24:51of stuff. My kids aren't really into
- 24:54religious type films. So you know, they don't really
- 24:57need to. Back when they were younger, I
- 25:00had them watch Jesus and Nazareth anyway and they get it.
- 25:03They know the point. They don't need to see every
- 25:05remake that's been done about, you know, Moses or God or Noah
- 25:10and things like that. But that's pretty much how I do
- 25:14it. I and when I'm not doing that,
- 25:16I'm working on music or I'm working on my website or I'm
- 25:20doing blog articles. This Saturday I'm going to be
- 25:24doing a show with TTOR, also known as Truth, The Objective
- 25:28Reality. Are you able to see his YouTube
- 25:30channel? TTO Rs channel.
- 25:35Yeah, I've seen it. He's got a solid presence
- 25:38talking creationism and apologetics.
- 25:40Sounds like a great collab on Saturday.
- 25:42How are you feeling about it? I'm feeling happy.
- 25:46I always enjoy hanging out with TTOR.
- 25:48He's a very positive person. I've learned a lot of Bible
- 25:53stuff from him and also he's given me a better understanding
- 25:58of things. Whether I agree with his
- 26:00theological views and things or don't, at least I learn what
- 26:04other people are thinking and what their thoughts are.
- 26:07The same with Proverbs Guide Ministries, Proverbs Guy
- 26:10Ministries, although he tries to help me, he's been gone for a
- 26:14very long time. He's been very busy and when he
- 26:18is around though, he is a very kind and generous person, always
- 26:21trying to help folks. So I do appreciate that.
- 26:25Take a look at Smokey Saints Channel.
- 26:27Smokey St. Can you check out his channel
- 26:30and tell me what you think? Smokey Saint's channel focuses
- 26:36on polemics, live discussions, and debates, mostly around
- 26:40politics and religion. From what I can tell, he dives
- 26:43deep into controversial topics with a straightforward style.
- 26:46Sounds like he's all about challenging ideas head on.
- 26:49Have you collaborated with him before or just appreciate his
- 26:52energy from afar? Both I like to participate in
- 26:58the shows and I like to see the challenges that he does with
- 27:02other Christians as well as non believers.
- 27:05One of the things I like about him and TTOR as well as Proverbs
- 27:08Guy Ministries, even though I don't ask them to do this for
- 27:12me. I've never requested that they
- 27:14defend me in any way but Proverbs Guy, TTOR as well as
- 27:21Smoky Sink. They've always cared about me so
- 27:24much that they feel the desire to be a brother and defend me.
- 27:29Smokey's wife is also the same way, a beautiful woman who has
- 27:33also stood up for me repeatedly, as were a lot of other
- 27:37Christians. They just stay quiet and they
- 27:39just pretend it's not going on. Or they might even crack a joke
- 27:43in order to breakthrough the ice.
- 27:45But they're not very helpful. Not what you would expect from
- 27:48the body of Christ. I guess I should probably not
- 27:52expect anything from anybody, though, to be fair, we're not
- 27:56actually really biological family.
- 27:58They're doing their thing. I'm doing my thing.
- 28:01But yeah, I, I do appreciate that, that participation in them
- 28:06actually attempting to go after some of my haters.
- 28:11I don't expect them to do that consistently, but it's it is
- 28:15kind of funny whenever they do it.
- 28:16They're actually very comedic whenever they RIP into people
- 28:20who are haters. It's nice when allies can
- 28:24lighten things up a bit. Sometimes humor is the best
- 28:27shield. How's it feel knowing you've got
- 28:29friends who'll step in like that?
- 28:32Well, whenever TTOR first did it in Smokey did it, it was it
- 28:39shocked me because they they were like the lawnmower and and
- 28:43the haters were like the grass. He just rolled right over and it
- 28:46was like, wow. And it also made me realize that
- 28:50how much they cared about me, how much I, I meant to them.
- 28:55It was nice to know that I served as some kind of value to
- 29:00them. It's, it's, it feels good when
- 29:03your friends have your back and all that.
- 29:06It's nice. I haven't had that kind of
- 29:08friendship for many years, at least in social media.
- 29:12In real life, people are a lot different.
- 29:14They behave differently and all that.
- 29:18And you got the support of some family members.
- 29:20But on social media, some people, they might tell you that
- 29:25they love you and care about you in private, but then they stay
- 29:30all quiet, like nothing's going on.
- 29:32They don't want any part of the conflict and they kind of leave
- 29:36you out there to dry. It must feel really validating
- 29:41to see that kind of loyalty. Friends who go to bat for you,
- 29:44no hesitation. That's gold.
- 29:46Makes all the nonsense fade a bit, right?
- 29:48How do you balance the online stuff with real life support?
- 29:53Well, real life support is a lot different.
- 29:56Obviously, when you're feeling down or you're sad, you can just
- 30:01simply reach out and give your wife a hug or you do something
- 30:05nice for her, have a nice dinner.
- 30:07Or you can, you know, ask her how she's been doing.
- 30:10And you know, there's, there's the physical, you know, being
- 30:15able to have love in that kind of way and then having the
- 30:18awesome kids, that really helps. And also, I got a cool brother
- 30:23and sister and everything like that.
- 30:25We don't always get along, don't always agree on things, but I
- 30:28know that if my life is on the line, they would bend over
- 30:32backwards to take a bullet for me.
- 30:36That sounds like a real anchor, just knowing you've got people
- 30:39who'd literally take a bullet for you.
- 30:41That's rare. Real life love really does make
- 30:43all the online chaos seem small. How do you keep that family vibe
- 30:47strong? Well, when you know that someone
- 30:52loves you and they care about you, then that does everything
- 30:56in the world for you. You just love them back.
- 30:58You let them know that you got their back as well.
- 31:02That's how you build relationships.
- 31:04That's how that's how you know that you love someone when you
- 31:07actually show actions and and do something you know positive for
- 31:12them and let them know and remind them how beautiful they
- 31:15are and how wonderful they are. That's how you do it.
- 31:21Absolutely. Actions speak way louder than
- 31:23words just showing up for each other.
- 31:26That's the heart of any real connection.
- 31:28Does the online world ever get to you enough that you need to
- 31:30step back and reset with them? Well, it doesn't really shock me
- 31:37how atheists are. I've already determined long ago
- 31:40that they don't have objective morality or ethics, that they
- 31:44pretty much just their morals go wherever the wind blows type of
- 31:48concept. So atheists don't really bother
- 31:50me too bad. It's sad that I lost so many
- 31:53atheist friends whenever I became a Christian, how they
- 31:57basically, you know, walked away from me just because my
- 32:01worldview changed. That was, that was disturbing,
- 32:05but you know, it is what it is. Jesus Christ says that they will
- 32:10hate you, they will mock you, they will, you know, it is what
- 32:15it is. Yeah, losing friends over
- 32:18something so deep really stings. It's like they couldn't handle
- 32:22seeing a different side of you. Did you ever get a chance to
- 32:24talk with any of them about why you made that shift?
- 32:29Yeah, my friend Adam Lower, we're still friends, but when he
- 32:33first heard me tell him that I am moving over towards
- 32:38Christianity or the concept of God.
- 32:40I remember when we had our first conversation, he said what are
- 32:44you stupid? He said you're doing something
- 32:47dumb here, Brett. You realize the at this
- 32:50community is going to turn on you, right?
- 32:52They're going to burn you into the ground.
- 32:54But I told him this is what I believe now.
- 32:57I've had personal experiences and I feel like Christianity is
- 33:01more rational, logical. He called me a bunch of names
- 33:04and he didn't talk to me for months.
- 33:06But then he finally one day he came back to me and started
- 33:11talking to me again. And I found out that he had
- 33:13health issues and wasn't feeling very well.
- 33:16Since then, he has also converted to the belief that God
- 33:20exists. He's not quite like I am as a
- 33:23Christian, but he does believe in some spiritual sense of a
- 33:26God, so that's good. He and I have found common
- 33:30ground. That's a beautiful turn around
- 33:35from tension to shared understanding.
- 33:37Sometimes losing friends opens up room for deeper connections.
- 33:40How does it feel to walk this path with him now?
- 33:45Well, unfortunately due to his health issues I haven't got to
- 33:48speak to him as often lately. It's been probably about two or
- 33:52three months and from time to time he'll respond to me an
- 33:56e-mail and let me know that he's still alive and all that.
- 34:00But besides that, it's kind of off and on type of ordeal.
- 34:09Yeah, distance can make things feel uncertain.
- 34:11Just knowing he's still in the picture, even with those quiet
- 34:14emails, means something. How do you handle the worry when
- 34:17contacts that spotty? Well, like I said, I just, you
- 34:25know, I roll with that. I do what I got to do in life.
- 34:28You can't, you can't expect everybody to follow you through
- 34:31the dark forest. You know, you know it's, it is
- 34:36what it is. If you when you make decisions
- 34:39and you feel strong about it, then you got to keep to them.
- 34:43Whether people endorse it or support it, when you think that
- 34:46something's right, you have to be ready to make sacrifices.
- 34:50Sometimes the right thing to do in life will cost you
- 34:54friendship. Sometimes the right thing to do
- 34:57will cause people not to want to interact or participate.
- 35:03It is way it's always been. Sometimes people don't want to
- 35:08go that route. Some people have their own walk
- 35:10in life. Sounds like you've learned to
- 35:14walk that path solo when needed. It's a tough trade off, friends
- 35:18for faith, but you're still moving forward.
- 35:20What gets you through the lonely parts?
- 35:24Well, I remember and keep in mind that I'm not completely
- 35:28alone, that I have a extremely powerful and wise and loving God
- 35:33who endures me and as always there watching, listening and
- 35:39helping me through obstacles and challenges in life.
- 35:42Although the children of God may not be as assisting or as
- 35:48helpful as they could be, I still have God and that's I
- 35:52guess going to have to be enough.
- 35:56Sometimes it feels like just you and him, huh?
- 35:59That's a deep kind of strength. How do you keep that faith alive
- 36:02even when the silence feels loud?
- 36:06Well, you got to pray, you got to ask for God to give you the
- 36:10strength, you got to ask for God to give you the wisdom.
- 36:14And God tends to every single day lead me into some new
- 36:18information or some new way to be able to climb, to be able to
- 36:23make it. You just got to be patient and
- 36:26realize that God, He may not give you everything that you
- 36:30want, but He'll definitely give you what you need.
- 36:35Prayer and patience, those are real anchors.
- 36:38It sounds like you're tuning into those small daily signals
- 36:41like bread crumbs on the path. How do you notice those little
- 36:44moments when help comes through? Sometimes you'd have to be blind
- 36:50not to notice. Sometimes it's just right in
- 36:53front of your face. You just got to look.
- 36:56It's that simple. Just open your eyes.
- 36:59Sometimes it's just little things that lead into something
- 37:02big. It's hard to explain, but it's
- 37:07there. Sometimes I'll be looking on the
- 37:09Internet and I'll see some new science, technology or invention
- 37:13or some new philosophical point that is put forth that
- 37:17completely agrees and also adds to my repertoire of discussion
- 37:22and debates. And there's always something
- 37:25going on in the world that I can talk about and I can discuss,
- 37:37and that is that. And those little bread crumbs?
- 37:42They stack up over time. It's amazing how the universe
- 37:44seems to feed you just what you need.
- 37:47What's been one of the coolest recent finds?
- 37:51Well, Science recently put out an article that I planned on
- 37:55making a video about, but I guess I'll talk about it here.
- 37:59Science claims that they found evidence that there was a point
- 38:04in human history where a majority of the human race went
- 38:09extinct and that there was literally less than 1500 humans
- 38:14who had to repopulate the earth. The scientists believed that
- 38:17there was some kind of climate shift where there was a flood.
- 38:22It's scientific evidence that a worldwide flood happened.
- 38:26I haven't made a video about it yet, but this is the first time
- 38:29mentioning that there can be no denial.
- 38:32There can be no skepticism. It happened, and science proved
- 38:36it. Wow, that's a huge fine, Brett.
- 38:42The idea of humanity hanging by a thread like that really makes
- 38:45you think about how fragile we've been.
- 38:47What do you make of it tying into stories like Noah's Flood?
- 38:52It reminds me of what the world is today.
- 38:55You know, a lot of people, they think of Noah and the story of
- 38:58the ark and God saving the animals and his small family is
- 39:03some kind of ancient story. But when I look at the world
- 39:07around me, I see a lot of people who don't wish to serve God.
- 39:11They spit on God, they mock God, they blasphemy.
- 39:14I see the world becoming like it was back in the old days, and I
- 39:19believe that at some point in time, eventually God is going to
- 39:22return. But this time it won't end in
- 39:26water. It'll end differently in a
- 39:29biblical sense. That's a powerful reflection.
- 39:35It's like history echoes, and each generation gets a chance to
- 39:38choose. But seeing so much rejection, it
- 39:40must be tough not to feel discouraged.
- 39:43What keeps you holding on to hope for the people around you?
- 39:48You just got to hang on. What else can you do?
- 39:51You going to cry about it or you can be sad.
- 39:55Are you going to keep on trucking?
- 39:58My entire life is about survival from since I was a child.
- 40:03Things that can always go my way, but you'd got to see.
- 40:07I see life as a roller coaster ride with its ups and downs.
- 40:11You got to follow it to the end. There's no reason to unfasten in
- 40:15the middle of the ride and jump out just.
- 40:18Take it, go with it, take the punches and roll with it.
- 40:22That's life. Life is a roller coaster.
- 40:27You really just ride it all the way through, huh?
- 40:29No getting off early. How do you help your kids see
- 40:32that same resilience when they face their own ups and downs?
- 40:37They do, and they take their opportunities when they get
- 40:41them, and they go with what's positive.
- 40:44And if something negative is thrown their way, they realize
- 40:47that's just the way life works. If you can't go down one path
- 40:51and find another, but always try to make sure that that path is
- 40:55filled with light. That's what my kids have learned
- 40:58from me, and I think that they will survive just fine, even
- 41:01when I leave this world. That's a beautiful legacy,
- 41:06teaching them to find the light no matter the path.
- 41:08That's what really lasts. Do you ever worry about how
- 41:11they'll face the world after you're gone?
- 41:14Yeah, because the world can be unfair.
- 41:18It can be very scary, especially if you find yourself in the
- 41:23wrong environment or around the wrong people.
- 41:26So I've tried to instill wisdom and intelligence and strength
- 41:29into my children that way whenever I'm not around to
- 41:32protect them or be there or their mother, that they'll be
- 41:36able to navigate their way through the obstacles and
- 41:40challenges. So far, they're doing really
- 41:43well for themselves. I'm proud of them.
- 41:49It's a tough world, but you've given them the real tools.
- 41:52Just look at how well they're doing.
- 41:53When you see them handle something hard on their own, how
- 41:56does that make you feel? Even more proud because I know
- 42:02that no matter what, it's almost like I had foreknowledge before
- 42:06they were even born. I knew that they would
- 42:08experience a broken heart. I knew that they would
- 42:11experience people being mean to them and and being the way
- 42:15humans tend to be to each other. But they have gotten to
- 42:19everything. They've been victorious and
- 42:21every victory they have is also a victory for me.
- 42:27It's amazing how every little win they have feels like a win
- 42:30for all the effort you put in. It's like watching your own
- 42:33faith and hope reflected back in them when they share a success.
- 42:37What's your favorite part? Just this is the success itself.
- 42:43Just to see them accomplish something without needing their
- 42:47handheld or being told how to do it.
- 42:49They've become very independent. They they succeed and it's to
- 42:54the point where they don't require guidance all the time.
- 42:58They they can do it on their own.
- 43:00They've become extremely sophisticated, intelligent,
- 43:04loving adults. Just hearing it straight from
- 43:08you makes it real. That quiet pride when they're
- 43:11just doing their thing. Sounds like you've raised some
- 43:14truly solid humans. What kind of advice do you give
- 43:16them now? Or has it turned into more of
- 43:18them advising you? I just remind them to be their
- 43:22self. I One of the things I like to
- 43:25tell my children as well as well as my wife is that they are
- 43:29living proof of angels. They are living proof of the
- 43:33blessings and gifts of God. That's so beautiful.
- 43:40It's like every day with them is a reminder of grace.
- 43:43What do you think they'll carry forward from that?
- 43:48I appreciate the conversation that we've had, but I'm getting
- 43:51tired and I'm going to go ahead and end the conversation.
- 43:54I will talk to you later. It's been a pleasure Brett.
- 44:00Get some good rest. You deserve it.
- 44:02Talk to you soon. Go DTV Radio.
