- Sean Graver: You've started looking forward to a conversation at work more than you want to admit, and you know exactly why. Well, hey, this is Sean, and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. So this one is delicate. So let me just describe it plainly. There's someone you work with who's been talking to you more lately, not really about work anymore. They're sharing things about their marriage, hinting that it's falling apart. And somewhere in the middle of all that honesty and connection, you've noticed you're drawn to them. And the attraction may be mutual. And if you're honest with yourself, part of you doesn't really want to shut that down, even though you know you should. Now, I'm not going to tell you exactly what to do here, because every situation like this has its own details. And you know yours better than I do. But I do want to hand you A verse worth meditating on before you walk into work today. So Proverbs four hundred twenty three says, Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flows the springs of life. And that word vigilance I think really matters. It's not a passive term. It assumes that your heart is something that needs active guarding without exception. Now, feelings like this rarely seem dangerous right away. They show up looking like friendship or maybe empathy, or maybe just being a good listener. And often they genuinely do start that way. But the feelings of being helpful can quickly become something much more and much deeper. Now I'd encourage you to really kind of get quiet for a minute today and ask yourself a few honest questions. Are you finding reasons to be around this person that didn't exist before? Are you sharing things with them that you're not sharing with your spouse or that you'd be uncomfortable with your spouse knowing about? Are you telling yourself this is fine because nothing technically has happened yet? Now none of those questions have easy answers, but they're worth asking before the situation makes the decision for you. So wherever you land, bring it to God honestly today. Not a sugar-coated version, but the real one. So let's pray. Lord, we don't want to pretend we don't feel what we feel, but we also don't want our heart to lead us somewhere we'll regret. Give us the honesty to look clearly at this situation instead of explaining it away. Give us the wisdom to know what boundaries we need to set and the courage to actually set them. Protect our marriage, protect our integrity, and protect this other person too, even if that means having a harder conversation than we want to have. You know, just search our heart and and show us what's really going on in it. In Jesus' name. Amen. Go make today count.
