- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. You know, I was thinking
- 0:06Speaker 1: about it today as I heard last night Thomas Masthew's out.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Clybird in South Carolina is out. All these different Rhinos
- 0:17Speaker 1: and Democrats and establishment voted out. Looks like Trump's endorsing
- 0:23Speaker 1: Ken Paxton now in that race. But as I was
- 0:27Speaker 1: listening to Mike Gallagher this morning, I want to formulate
- 0:29Speaker 1: my own take on this, because for a long time
- 0:33Speaker 1: I was like, all right, Trump's dictating the party. Trump
- 0:35Speaker 1: is saying who to vote for in his old weight.
- 0:39Speaker 1: By the way, Obama made endorsements too, and no one
- 0:43Speaker 1: ever said he's controlling the Democratic Party. Obama made endorsements
- 0:48Speaker 1: and actually lost a lot of them at the midterms,
- 0:50Speaker 1: but nobody ever said, oh, look at Trump, Obama's trying
- 0:53Speaker 1: to take over the party. Presidents make endorsements. When are
- 0:58Speaker 1: people gonna get that through their head? Presidents make endorsements.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Biden made endorsements during the midterms, and he failed miserably
- 1:05Speaker 1: at some point too. I mean, it's not a new
- 1:09Speaker 1: thing that a president makes an endorsement. It's not a
- 1:14Speaker 1: MAGA versus GOP establishment. It's just a president making an endorsement.
- 1:19Speaker 1: But I do think his holds weight over what Obama
- 1:22Speaker 1: has to say and what Biden has to say. But
- 1:25Speaker 1: can we cut the bull crap at one look up
- 1:27Speaker 1: alex Media that oh, Trump's trying to take over the party. Well,
- 1:34Speaker 1: I do think there's some feeling that, you know, his
- 1:37Speaker 1: word everybody takes. But that's okay. A president tries to
- 1:43Speaker 1: influence elections. Or Obama wouldn't made all those endorsements and
- 1:49Speaker 1: failed at a lot of them, or Biden would have
- 1:51Speaker 1: made a lot of endorsements but failed at them. I'm
- 1:55Speaker 1: gonna say one more time, presidents make endorsements. And by
- 1:59Speaker 1: the way, this isn't the end all be all. These
- 2:02Speaker 1: primary candidates now have to win in the general. There's
- 2:06Speaker 1: still a good chance that some of these Trump endorsed
- 2:09Speaker 1: and some of these Republican nominees could lose in the fall.
- 2:14Speaker 1: We don't know yet. We don't know how they're going
- 2:17Speaker 1: to go head to head in the Democrat primary, in
- 2:20Speaker 1: the Democrat versus Democrat in the general election. But to say,
- 2:26Speaker 1: like MTG is saying in others, that Trump's re routing
- 2:30Speaker 1: the entire party, He's making it a maga, okay, But
- 2:35Speaker 1: where was the outcry for Democratic presidents making endorsements. No
- 2:41Speaker 1: one ever right, right, no one ever criticized Obama for endorsing.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But I tell you what, he sure as hell got
- 2:48Speaker 1: laughed at when all of his adorsements pretty much lost
- 2:50Speaker 1: in the mid terms over the years. Biden, same thing.
- 2:55Speaker 1: No one ever criticized him for making endorsements, but they
- 2:57Speaker 1: laughed at him when his candidate would lose. So no,
- 3:03Speaker 1: this isn't something new and out of the blue that
- 3:06Speaker 1: a president endorses a candidate. This isn't something out of
- 3:12Speaker 1: the ordinary. I'm sure Bill Clinton Maine endorsements back in
- 3:16Speaker 1: the day for mid terms and all that. I mean,
- 3:18Speaker 1: it's a presidential tradition. And for people to think he's
- 3:24Speaker 1: commandeering the party by inserting his voice, you're dead wrong.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You're dead wrong. He is simply making an endorsement on
- 3:33Speaker 1: his truth social page, and that's okay. Now, what I
- 3:44Speaker 1: don't like is if he does it out of revenge.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I mean, I understand Massy and even Bill Casside, who
- 3:50Speaker 1: lost over the weekend did try to vote impeach him
- 3:53Speaker 1: out and all that. Maybe Trump had some revenge there,
- 3:58Speaker 1: but overall, he's making endorsements on who he thinks will
- 4:02Speaker 1: be best. That's not tyrannical, that's not dictatorial, that's not
- 4:10Speaker 1: taking over a party. It's what a president does. It's
- 4:14Speaker 1: what a president does. Have we lost our track of
- 4:19Speaker 1: history over the last one hundred, two hundred and fifty years,
- 4:23Speaker 1: presidents make endorsements. I'm pretty sure Washington might have probably
- 4:28Speaker 1: endorsed the second president of the United States. After the fact,
- 4:32Speaker 1: of course, Jefferson became our third president, endorsed by many
- 4:36Speaker 1: of the founding fouls. This is a long standing tradition.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It isn't some out of the blue thing that Trump
- 4:42Speaker 1: is all of a sudden trying to assert his dominance
- 4:45Speaker 1: by making endorsements. Presidents do that. Presidents do that. You
- 4:53Speaker 1: can fault them on a lot of things and whatever
- 4:55Speaker 1: else if you want to, but don't criticize them, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: don't act epic ris when the same people saying, oh,
- 5:02Speaker 1: why is it making endorsements now? Apparently it was a
- 5:06Speaker 1: whole swath of wins for the Trump endorsed candidates last night.
- 5:11Speaker 1: But I want to give you some context. Obama endorsements
- 5:18Speaker 1: that won or lost in twenty eighteen, roughly eighty sixty
- 5:32Speaker 1: eight percent were winning in UH and other losses of
- 5:40Speaker 1: course he wanted Stacy Abrams she lost in twenty eighteen.
- 5:47Speaker 1: On Terry mccauliffe he lost in twenty one. But there
- 5:52Speaker 1: were times where Obama and Biden struggled to get the
- 5:54Speaker 1: endorsement wins. But for the whole promise of this premise
- 6:01Speaker 1: is this is for the left and maybe some on
- 6:15Speaker 1: the right to always complain about how Trump pass his
- 6:19Speaker 1: finger on the pulse and weighs in on these elections.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It's his job, It's literally his job to endorse, like
- 6:31Speaker 1: it was Obama's job to weigh into the midterms, Like
- 6:35Speaker 1: it's Biden's job to wait into the midterms, like it
- 6:37Speaker 1: was Clinton's job, George W. Bush's job. But because he's Trump,
- 6:42Speaker 1: Oh my god, he's a tyrant. Where was that criticism
- 6:46Speaker 1: for Obama when he made endorsements, huh? Or Biden when
- 6:50Speaker 1: he made endorsements. They weren't tyrannical. They were just doing
- 6:52Speaker 1: what they're supposed to do endorse And in fact, some
- 6:57Speaker 1: candidates would run away from the president's endorsement, depending what
- 7:00Speaker 1: it is, but others gladly accepted the president's endorsement over
- 7:05Speaker 1: the years. Did they not gladly accepted the endorsements. So
- 7:11Speaker 1: let's cut the crap that because it's Trump, there's some
- 7:17Speaker 1: tyrannical effect to it. No, it's Trump doing his job,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and it's the candidate appreciating the endorsement. Win or lose.
- 7:34Speaker 1: To be endorsed by the President the United States is
- 7:36Speaker 1: an honor, and Trump's not the first president to make endorsements.
- 7:42Speaker 1: We should know that by now. We should know that
- 7:46Speaker 1: by now. So the fact that his candidate's won yesterday,
- 7:55Speaker 1: I don't see a problem with it. You might because
- 7:59Speaker 1: you don't like it ieology, but the premise of it,
- 8:01Speaker 1: I don't see a problem with it. I'm just sorry
- 8:07Speaker 1: that Obama couldn't get all the endorsements he wanted elected.
- 8:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry that Biden could get his elected endorsements he
- 8:14Speaker 1: wanted elected. But don't take that out on this present
- 8:21Speaker 1: for simply endorsing and weighing in that is a requirement
- 8:26Speaker 1: I feel like of being the president of the United States.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And that's my message today on the news side of
- 8:33Speaker 1: one like Up alex Media
